Gracious, Helen, you're fassst. Hi, MRP!
oooh, got it - thanks helen!
thanks helen
i have been sick all week - i don't know what to be tomorrow/today - i borrowed out my black witch cape, last year i was glinda, the good witch of the north, but i'm still too exhausted to wear that thing all nite long
what's quick, simple, yet will wow the kiddies?
please - no, please, stop overloading me with ideas :)
lol
My mom wore a laundry basket upside down on her head one year. That certainly wowed the kiddies.
does it have to be spooky helen
hmmmm toga wearing woman? great way to use up those old bedsheets
a thermometer in your mouth; a a bib and a barf bag?
heres the best one i've heard so far this year - wear blue sweats/put big wads of cotton all over it - take a water gun - then, when someone asks what you are - you squirt them and say - cloudy with chance of rain
good morning all, happy late flip
lol egg - now that's great, don't even have to change for that one
hi metal

ok, give up!! wr8
I'm off to teach some off the wr... in an hour or so...
Txs, Spangles!
the beauty thing about glinda was the kids reactions when i opened the door - now i understand why men love to play santa - most kids just stood there with their mouths open, one little kid said 'wow, i didn't know you lived HERE' LOL
Got it!
oooh, I got it too, and didn't even notice
LOL mrp - okay, now that explains it -LOL
you are sweet helen!! my jokes suck! :)
one mom had to literally drag her little girl away from me & the kid would not stop staring at glinda :)
It drives me *nuts* that "tech" is not allowed!
agree anckh
but the sad thing was that alot of kids thought i was a princess or a fairy or something like that - they had no idea who glinda was - sad
Yeah... every generation feels that way. Dear One is horrified that I don't know the muppets, or the Isle of Misfit Toys.
Hi everyone! I just spotted my favorite icon of all times. I have made a painting of it and its hanging in my kitchen. Congrats. Mr. President. You have great taste.
I don't either; but then, I don't know who I am either!
cousins 3 yr old dsaughter is dorothy from oz
hi purlpe
how can you not know the isle of misfit toys, I'm only two years older than you are..... and I know it. it's from the animated rudolph where burl ives sang the part of the snowman
i don't know the muppets either & never even heard of the isle
We didn't have it at my school growing up, Metal, and we never caught it on TV. DO's family played it every year, or saw it on TV...
oh - THAT isle of misfit toys!
suzie snowflake
ok. it's a people-eating tree
hardrock, coco & joe
*notes list has dumb dance name, fr4, but not "tech" ! *
ahhh, I never saw it at school, but watched the very first broadcast of the show when I was.... about six or so
i love those misfit toys and rudoplph and the mr heat meiser
OMG - Today's puzzle is so... English
or maybe there's a different isle these days

Hi Haz.
Hi Al.
Goodmorning Scrabbler, Ankh, matty,M3 et al. Nice bright looking day out there, but I bet it is cold.
Happy Halloween, if that's your thing!
Ankh - to carve (as in metal or wood)
Its plural
And a unit of work (I think)
ankh--er4,6--think work units or dynes
Duh! *smacks self with fish*
dynes? work?
OH!
*gets bigger fish*
ankh, how about to write in glass with acid, another e word you are missing?
Thank you, Aloyisius, Matty clued me that one. And I figured out the plural all by my dense self! :)
yay!
Folks, fatigue has struck me stupid, time to go to bed. Thanks for the chat & clues, and don't take candy from strangers! heh heh heh heh
I should try to sleep again. 2 hours until my alarm goes off.
Good night, Ankh

Hi, kthdsn

Annie, I had to almost threaten to change service before I got them down to between noon and 5. sigh
Hi, TO.
(((((((TO))))))))
the hitler clue has a different spelling
I believe
I really don't know what it is, I have no knowledge of hitler at all
Lain, that's what dictionary tells me it is.
*whispers* hi faerie - boss just came in
*whispers* get your arse to work to TO

crhis-what you did with a letter plus a vowel
I'm not, but my ex and I started to get our tickets years ago...and I could get back into it real easy.
oh thank you!
so obvious now...
you really should, it's lots of fun.
he and I are both studying CW (morse code) now so we can advance our licenses to general
well...the man I have now...I don't know if he'd be into it or not...and it's more fun with 2.
mo5/16?
mo + ben * chariot movie
true, it is, but you can still talk to people on nets and repeaters...
but he might...don't know...he's an ex fire capt. and ems guy too.
there are even some nets just for lady hams
ty kth
there's even irlp, internet relay linking project.... to use a radio/computer combination ... you can talk to people all over the world that way, even when propagation sucks
I think it's a shame how they watered down the requirements for tickets...the no code thing...
me too, but in order to attract people in the computer/cell phone/etc. age, they had to do something
another thing you might consider, is going to a local hamfest, or a ham club meeting

Ok, I have tried everything I can think of and can't find the st 5/14 or the se 5/10! Any clues?
se5/10 add a vowel to the 4 before it

rrgghhh mo5/16 please?
uhm... there's 94 words....
b/c it's not moufs. as in: my moufs full of candy

Hi TO, hi ren, buzgy, et. al.
mo5/16 pwees
my name on home computer is flosey

Also would love a clue for mo5/16 :)

The other te6 starts the same and ends in chewing ***, like trident.
i don't have it yet : (
Hi Inge... is it raining where you are?
thanks inge!!!
TY :)
yes, now it is drizzling
thanks inge
mo5/16 - mo + old roman guy "Ben ***"
no7?
It's just looking really nasty outside here... hope the rain is over before tonight!
I got to commune with the vacuum cleaniger!!!
There are several in this puzzle that end with the same ending...what you do to a guitar...
anyone have fu 6/33?
shmoo, do you have oe7 - very similar word
schmoozanne...that last clue was for you...
ty ddb
yw
got it, thanks anyway
ce6?
Fireworks! Yippee!
BerniceQ...that one is very strange...a different spelling for what they called Hitler
harp - ce6 man's name and alcoholic drink
BerniceQ for fu6/33 think of Adolph H
Yeah for Bugzy!!!
ce6 - ce + abbreviation for ro6/21
flosey i think that's ch6, i need ce6?
hm, guess I need to look for ro 6 then....
sorry, not using proper glasses!
Or ce6 = c + Art Deco artist + plural
the ro6 words are plurals of prev. words
ou7?
too big for
fu6/33 anyone?
fu6/33 anyone?
what the Germans called Hitler
ty cat
13 left, i'm taking a break....
fu: hockey player Grant Fu****
fu6 what the germans called hitler
yw
great clues Raelite and Floesy
Anike fu6 think iof Adolph Hitler
ce6 is a sure thing + 2 directions
te6,30?
Morning everyone.
te + cons + chewing ***
or same first 3 letters * ***e or less
there are 2 te6
fireworks
that should have read m*** or less
got the fu thanks. Finished and goodnight
g'nite anike
Bugzy and everyone, such good clue-giving... but I am super-dense... don't understand any oe7/36 clues. Could anyone walk me through it? TY
Flosey, those clues confused me. Were they for two different te6's?
oe: oe+pluck your guitar
yes mkl
Got it
oe+"I heard he sang a love song, I heard he had a style, so I came to listen for a while"
Got it! Now I'll have to find a dictionary that tells me what the heck it means. TY raelite!
one te6/30, then another te621
Yay for Abe!
I don't see how a letter can fit between the te and the chewing ***. I've tried the only three available, and it wouldn't take them. What am I missing?
Use the other t mkl.
te hook letter and chewing ***
mkl: ARE you sure you checked?
It says it's not found in the dictionary.
yay abe!
are you starting with the right T
not only are there two 'T's to try; there are two 'E's as well, mkl
It's my last word. There's only one t I can start with.
Are all the n's 4 letters?
tRy another letteR
3rd row, 4th column
lol raelite!
:)
cmon, don't get terse, raelite
thanks Temple and Bugzy. here for clues...Bunny- 3x n4 and 1 x n7
If the word ends in chewing ***, there are only three letters that it could be. It won't take any of them.
thx abe
te+cRook letteR+chewing gum
haha
good one rae
mkl - start with the te in the upper right corner
mkl - 3rd row 4th column, second row last column then go left then down and back up left - rt
I just hope he finds it..I know how frustrating that is!
yes, we've all been there - so determined it has to go this way can't see the other possibility
mlk - first three letters of a bug that will eat all the wood in your house, then chewing ***
it monkeyed the fu7 word for a very long time even knowing what the word was
WHAT AN IDIOT. I kept using the e fourth row. Didn't even see the other e. DUUUUUHHHHHHHH
we've all been there :)
so how are folks doing today?
i suck
finished a little earlier - fun puzzle today, at times very frustrating
yay he found it!!
but then it's only my first day :D
ah moussaka - a greek dish I just love
yeah, its been a bear today
bored/ wanting to eat lots of chocolate. how about you lady?
plus, ugh american spellings!
That was fireworks. Does anyone need a clue? After that embarrassment, I'll clue anyone that wants one, for as long as it takes.
about the same Abe
yay MKL
wtg mkl - at least you didn't give up
Lady- is today your last day at work?
That was the most blinded that I have been to a word in any of the puzzles. Should have slept longer.
the tile stat at the bottom, do they mean how many owrds left beginning with the letter?
I'm off now, stuff to do - return to BC tomorrow
morning everybody
*words
been away 3 weeks, will be great to be home
Bye floesy. HI Buttonman
Yes moussaka
Hi all. have just joined.
super duper.
I'll be back again as flosey as of Thursday
welcome, Mattu
Hi mattu.
The e under the g, I'm missing one. I have the period of time and the hormone. Help please?
I have only one 5 letter word left and it is driving me up a wall..........it is the se 5/10
Have great trip, Floesy/ Flosey
hi mattu, enjoy,
thanks abe
Add a vowel to the se 4/4 above it.
Try drawing
bunny- you are missing eg 5/14- a type of bird
Thx again abe!
yw Bunny :)
thanks BUNNY, got it
Happy babbling tomorrow, I'll be in the air
what on earth does 5/14 mean? sorry, am new therefore do not understand the abbreviations
Bunny, did you get the et word for "drawing"?
i think i already got that word though
5 means # of letters in a word/ 14 means pt value of the letters
Moussaka- eg 5/14 means that the first two letters are eg; the word is 5 letters; worth 14 points. see Angelsongs babble page link on bottom left for more explanations
YW Button. Moussa, there is a link at the bottom of the page under friends of babble, Angelsongs, explains the game. 5/14 = 5 letters, 14 points.
oh okay thanks
mkl, yeah
Moussaka, go to the bottom of the puzzle page and look at lickety'slist for length and values assigned
I'm down to 8 left without the list...few more minutes and I might make a break for it.
you can do it Bunny!
Moussaka, 5 letters doubles the points, 6 letters triples, 7 letters quadruples, and so on.
hey bunny! how are you?
Sun burnt and grumpy, lol. We went to South Padre for vacation, took all five kids. What a trip! Did you know a 10 hour drive with that many kids mutates into 15 hours?
bunny, you are a brave brave woman,,,
nice icon, Temple.
I've come to realize, Babble is my only "vacation" for the next 14 years.
Bunny: I travel with hubby for 12 hours and am ready for the rubber room... roll up in a ball and hum for two days!
ty abe...i'm waiting for tor. i have a special one just for himlol
ch 7/44?
Scarlet, I can relate. Hubby was almost as much trouble as the kids! But the kiddos had fun, it was worth it.
temple- ooh, i can't wait! bunny- so sorry that your vacation was not relaxing :(
Abe, did you make that cake?
abe - want a preview? ; )
ch7 = guys name + Jamaican alcohol
bunny- no, but i wish i did! i saw the cutest cupcake/ cake pumpkin over the weekend. yes temple!
Relaxation is overrated... we live to serve the inmates of our personal asylum!
LOL
ok brb
Good clue cat, ty.
yw
**puts out lounge chairs and passes around trays of margaritas and chips**
ty cat
Hey Moussaka, have you figured it out yet?
abe, chocolate chips and margaritas, perchance?
refresh if you dare
smaller- sounds good to me!
i did indeed
t must be 5 o'clock somewhere...
aahhhh, temple. so scary i peed a bit
LMAO!!! that is great Temple!
Don't be timid about asking for clues. Very few babblers finish the puzzle without ANY help at all. I've only done it once.
lol smaller!
do you think he will like it?
Um, yes. definitely
Usually I ask because I get lazy towards the end.
Sometimes I ask because I'm just dense, like today.
mkl- i also find that clue giving increases my chances of remembering tough words the next time they pop up in a grid
mkl, I have 6 h4, 2 h5, and 1h6....need one more, can you tell me how many letters?
There's one more h4. Which ones do you have?
1 h 4

hmm can't seem to get the last n word - have no 4/4 no 4/4 no 7/36
fe520 is what you teach your dog to do

st5/14 to play an instrument
ty moussaka!!!!!
Metaleather, I have that te 6, I need the other one.
Anyone having problems with babble today - just entered te4/5 and it said it did not exist in the puzzle. Tried it again and it worked :-p
not today Denny, but I have had that happen in the past
I guess it's the te 6,21 I need.
ohhhhh
don't have that sorry
Well Denny, clue me on the 4,5 because I am missing that one, too. Just two te words left and I'll be finished.
tey this then: an earthquake is a really big ground * * * * * , and your te is an anagram of the 'quake word
Sorry ..treat or trickers at the door
a president or other elected official is in place for a te4/5 of office
school years are broken into them (in Britain anyway)
and the 6/21 adds either/ * * to that 4/5
Denny lovely photo of Laura
Oh, duh on the 4,5. Another word for semester in school.
I take it you already know Of tough and bough and cough and dough? Others may stumble, but not you, On hiccough, thorough, lough and through? Well done! And now you wish, perhaps, To learn of less familiar traps? Beware of heard, a dreadful word That looks like beard and sounds like bird, And dead: it's said like bed, not bead - For goodness sake don't call it deed! Watch out for meat and great and threat (They rhyme with suite and straight and debt).
Hi all, tu5/14 and tur/18?
Never heard of the 6,21 before.
Thanks Caitlyn - she's just had her first fish!
A moth is not a moth in mother, Nor both in bother, broth in brother, And here is not a match for there Nor dear and fear for bear and pear, And then there's dose and rose and lose - Just look them up - and goose and choose, And cork and work and card and ward, And font and front and word and sword, And do and go and thwart and cart - Come, come, I've hardly made a start! A dreadful language? Man alive! I'd mastered it when I was five!
tu5/18?
pl of 4/8
duh, thanks majmom
excellent purplepuff
Thank you Purplepuff. I can use that.
yw

Congrats bubba!!
wahooo Bubba!!!!
I kept wanting to use fest, but it was not accepted. But in the dictionary, fest has two meanings, but fets has none. It sends you to the thesaurus. Now does that make sense?

Congrats, Bubba!

The basement?
was wondering when the pagan/wiccan factions would be assertive and reclaim (or at least share) the day
es 6/24 anyone?
no sense letting the Christians or even the secular community monopolize things
Forgive my ignorance ..
e + what you do to a guitar, moussaka
cheers!
At least Samhein Eve, y'all. There's room enough for everyone. Beliefs and wonderments cannot hurt others.
te 6/30..pls

must cut out for a bit now. (I'm at work. shhhhh!) cu all later.
well said Scarlet
te constanant chewing ***
TY metaleather. Life is amazing.
more so everyday if lived well
Metaleather, you're creative, so you look at elements and "tools" in a totally different context than most... and some colours are music and the reverse is also true
curling up and resting before heading out and trick or treating with the kids
hmm nayone got mu4/8?
ty Scarlet. this is definitely a cultivated, learned attitude for me. Although I've always been artsy fartsy... I'm also naturally depressed and glum so learning to see the beauty is not natural for me. It feels better than the other way, just not my natural first step., lol@self
BTW, Metal, I am agnostic at best. :) And we go to a Methodist church, so, not pagan at all
Hi all - moussaka - cups for coffee
what you have your coffee in
fo 5/16, fu 6/33 and re 6/18..pls
thnaks ann!
Hey can I please have a clue for the se5 it is hiding from me..
yw
fo5,16, is pl of 4,7 before it
fu 6/33 is what hitler was also known as!
ou 7, 56 pls
Hey, all, just in for a moment. That O on the bottom I have only two of the three -- the not-twos and the not-offset.
nods, no offense or assumption meant klaurel... I'm a "lapsed" LDS living with an atheist who might sorta almost be pagan if he wasn't so determined to buck the system and be an atheist
add second vowel to se 4,4 before it
Moussaka Thief, we drink our coffee in mu**.
thanks..
ou 7, what a kid does to his pants as he gets larger and larger
ty
^ atheist ^
WOW! A lapsed LDS, know a lot of recovering catholics but no LDS members. :D Do they really let you out?
the oe 7 comes off that one ankh
Hi, Ang! Thanks!
ty bubba
Ankh put what you do with a guitar on the end
re 6/18?
re - examine again
mo5/12?
if you fail an exam and have to take it again, it is called a re****
plural of mo 4/5
We go to church and son is in Sunday school because when he eschews religion in the future, he can back it up.
mo + Ben ***, the chariot one
LOL I"m not so much out as just really inactive. I believe lots of what the Church does and stands for, but have enough "differences of opinion" that I'm not attending
Txs, Ang, THAT got me there!
thanks!
thnx bubba for the clue.
But I just prefer to remind people that this holiday is really a pagan holiday, as is the origins of Christmas
Is that fireworks Ank? Well done
good approach klaurel. easier for him to have something to base things on
^ genealogist, so grateful to LDS for that but still mad at them for fighting the ERA ^
Easter too for that matter
yayyyyyy Ankh
Oh, no, Ang, not fireworks yet, sorry to mislead you. :( 40
me too
:) I have 51
at least for the ERA part... have kind of lost interest in Genealogy since I don't have kids
i'm on 60 now!
69 i mean
Gah, I mistyped -- I have *20* left.
I'm sorry too - well I have 1/4 hour left and 25 words
anyone got hu 4/8
Metal, no kids here either -- seems to be a "maiden aunt" kinda hobby -- my cousin same way -- but I love going backwards even though I know I will never go forwards. Which was my choice. :)
moussaka {{{ }}}}
Thief, think BIG.
The human race is always looking on the exterior to fill great, gaping vacuums within... so we create little atolls of amusement... the kicker is free will... will we participate or not? Always an interesting topic.
not the BIG one!
Hu 4,8 something that is really big
Wow, Scarlet, how erudite! :) I'm just slogging along.
good evening all...just a quick babble before tea...not been on yet today...how goes the grid?
Hu** and kisses
Hi sapphie
yay thanks for those!
Hiya, Sapphie, slow for me now w/20 to go.
I was very into the whole deal years ago... then life changed, my research got stolen, life changed again... and all of a sudden, I'lm in my late forties, no kids and the whole thought of genealogy just makes me sad...
for me anyway
I don't have the heart to do all that research over again
oh dear D:
Ank... not trying for erudite... just responding to the entire pagan vs other spiritual approaches to specific days on the calendar, and the bubbling pot of stew it usually creates!
:( sorry Metal
jeez, how'd things get so morbid all of a sudden... I better go get more caffeine, pep myself up and get off the pity pot
thanks
crete
OH YEAH! Hubby just called from McDonalds and told me they have McRibs!
sorry typing in too many windows at the same time lol
been there done that annotherone... ;o)
hmmm
et6/24?
sort of drawing
plural of et 4/6
metaleather: we've all been on the short end of fairness and you don't sound pitying... just ruminating about the crapola that happens. Next page, always hoping for the next best inspiration!
I've only got 4 more words to find
ty
but they're hiding from me well
never completed a board before
oh dear i've got 20!
all the small ones as well!
in some ways... all that old crap was a good thing to have had happen. it enabled me to learn many things I absolutely will not do/tolerate/or let happen ever again. it also made me receptive (after the is this for real phase) to the wonderful life I now have
yay anno
only been playing here since the weekend though
Those are the words of an individual who has some lovely scars, but is no longer ashamed of them!
not constantly obviously lol
nicely put scarlet
Scarlet, you have such a lovely way with word, and a compassionate outlook on life.

daisy - my ex and I had mostly paper shades from Habitat in our first house. These days, I have lots of fancy light fittings in my home - harder to keep clean than the simple old paper ones, though.:(
Any clue for the 8?
*sigh* this house needs so much done to it...it would be easier to bulldoze it and start over, as far as I'm concerned....but he insists on making a silk purse from a sow's ear...
The one here in the study/office is the worst; being 3 upward-facing 'handkerchief shades. They get full of dead insects!
eww Jac...I pity you.
hi, all
mrwrite - wr8/70 - poor souls. 'Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wr6/36 like me...'
Hi Pam.
bbl all...Techzilla is hungry.
daisy - we've discovered the car vac hoovers them up without the need to dismantle the light. Cranefly season is the worst time!
Doh. I had the basis of that word (i.e., to visit the porcelain god), but hadn't thought to add the w
lol daisy! i feel the same way about mine! hi pam!
mrwrite - that's the re5/14 & 7/36 for worshipping the toilet God. LOL.
I know you knew, mrwrite. Just added that clue for others.
Aye. the re5/14 is also called the "technicolor yawn." It's sad, I know so many euphemisms for that.
LOL MrW!
well i have to go wsah my hair. business trip tomorrow. happy babbling and i will be back onthrusday or friday
I guess you know about pavement pizza, too? Or 'sidewalk' pizza as they may or may not say in USA.
speak not of them all, mrw--some of us are (barely) recovering from headache hell....
Good luck, TO
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
i second that reaction, TO!
Oops! Sorry Pam! Would you like some Beecham's 'Resolve'? It's wonderful for settling the stomach and the head.;)
See you, TO! Safe trip.
LOL, Jac It's a nasty sinus migraine combined with the stress...I have good meds.....
That's okay then, pam. Sinus pain is awful.
indeed it is...
How can you even look at a computer screen with a migraine? Or do you have a filter?
I am post... and I have long learned to deal enough with all but the worst of the sinus ones
What can I say? For the longest time, I didn't even have good pain abatement, I thought I just always had a headache...
To be honest, I've only ever had 2 migraines in my life so far - both caused by overlong exposure to early computer screens (back in the 70s).
I have a few incidences of sinus pain though.
those screens were the worst--my ibook is HUGE improvement on the computers I worked on in the early 80's
the barometric pressure can trigger mine, as do hormones --which are then different headaches....
My Other Half sometimes gets weather and or stress migraines. The monitor we have now is okay for him. Technology has come a long way since the 70s/80s.
I get a headache well before a thunderstorm is due, but not a migraine headache.
I feel for him, Jac and, some techno advances are sooooo cooool
I know the hormonal headaches, too.:(
I guess it's all a spectrum....
se 5/10 anyone? Cannot figure it out.
Pam - he's fine at the moment; snoring loud enough upstairs for me to hear him from the room below. I'll go up when he shuts up! LOL.
hi all -- fu 6 please

Good one, jilli.
LOL jacs! actually i put it up for tor but i didn't get any reaction
(Icon, I meant.)
Torg didn't react to boobies, TO? Is he ill or something??
He changed his icon earlier but where is he now?
hahahahahahahahaaaha apparently
yes i didn't get that - the dr on south park?
or himself out of disguise?
i don't know why it kept looking like a dr - it seemed to be a customer service rep of some sort
jjili - do you think so?
Who, Doctor Doctor? (The incredibly superstitious one.)
Or Doctor Mephisto, the Frankenstein-like character?
hu 6 please
that's what he said at the time, TO -- I see he's not online now
hu6 - enomousest
My guess is the second doctor - the mad scientist.
*enormousest
ty
hu6 - biggest, most titanic.
Drat! You've already got it!
I'd like to clue it as humungousest but the hu might be confusing
jilli - that is NOT a word and TO should not have got the answer from that clue! ROFLOL. (Oh, I love Babble!)
hehe
TO? I meant aknitter. Gawd!
trick or treat!!!!!! smell my feet!!!!! give me something good to find the ce 6!!!!!!!!
No, it was TO. I'm going nuts.

Mamabear - I have no desire to go anywhere near your feet!
nuts? did someone offer nuts? i seem to be hungry tonight
*thrusts choco at mama and clicks tongue at jac for taking her name in vane*
mamabear! i must change my icon back just for you
TO - LOL. So she did!
nut - I've not put your name anywhere near a weather cock!
there's a bunch of reese's cups in it if someone can give me a clue for the ce 6!
ce6 doesn't rhyme with feet, but with nerts. Dead ce** with a extra vowel and cons
aknitter - honey cashews?
got it! thanks! *hands reese's cups to jilli*
ce6 - as I have said before - surname of an old boyfriend of mine (like that helps!) ROFLOL.
sticks out hand for more snacks
oo, slurp, mamabear!
ok now ch 7?
ch7 -- ch** Atkins or Huntley + booze
aknitter - dry-roasted peanuts? salted peanuts? Mixed nuts? Nuts, raisins & chocolate? Walnuts? Pistachios? I've got more nuts than I can list in this house!;)

Great clue for the ch7, aknitter.
i am shocked at all these obscene pumpkins!! ty jac
Mamabear - click on my icon! TO's just trying to go one better! *sulks*
awwwwwwww, jacs! *tosses a packet of reeses*
aknitter - If I'd put up the pic that was on TV and in the media recently ( a fat butt painted like a pumpkin) then you WOULD have had something to complain about.
aknitter: are we offending you?
TO - I think aknitter is kidding.
not offended in the least TO

My funeral? Erm... I love all flowers except for ones that have no perfume or visual merit.
flowers without visual merit? i think they are all beautiful jac
Yup, aknitter - the writing implements with a singular personal pronoun before the last letter. LOL.
Red salvia I meant in particular, aknitter. Revolting!
red saliva? ewwwwwwwwwwwww
nut - glad you agree with me on that.
Not saliva, nut! You silly person! Salvia.
unless you've just been eating fireballs, then its okay
i just ran off to google that plant -- not hideous bit not great either
actualy, i'm fond of red salvia
nut what is that country you have listed?
Drat! I've had no gardener to commiserate with me re my garden losses since ExWren ran off to garden earlier in the day... no one knows the pain I felt when Paul cut my Nelly Moser off in her prime and trod on my tree paeony! :(((
ak, it's the country ren and i are taking over. we are the royalty
ok - i am missing in action
ok, does it mean something in another language?
what's that coel?
aknitter - That plant IS hideous, believe me, when 'old folks' stick it in a regimental row of single plants, alternated with 'little dorrit' (white) and blue lobelia.
i like lobelia jac
i have been gone for so long i was not sure anyone would remember me
I like lobelia, aknitter, when planted properly and not in a regimented single line.
where were you ceolmeister?

Mama - I have owned and played a guitar. My party piece is the bass line from Blackfoot Sue's 'Standing In The Road'. I love guitar, my ex is an afficianado of that instrument... but I'm crap at playing it. However, I can sing... low voice though - can duet with Marlene Dietrich and Kiki Dee.
that's way cool, jac!!!!! but I can't find the puke
Mama - do you have the wr6/36 & 8/70? Poor souls word.

good evening all and Happy Halloween! Did everyone get a lot of trick or treaters? We just got a smattering. This was the first year youngest daughter didn't trick or treat, so no goodie bag to sneak through. Anyone have a clue for the ch7,44? It's been stumpin me all day. barb

ch7/44 - to not be honest in a te4/4 or an exam minus 2nd vowel + sailor's fave drink.

Just dropped in to say Hello All, and to see if anyone needs some clues?
hi mlk -- hows the weather out there?
thanks! 1 left but I don't know what it is..... brb
Pretty good right now. Light snow and about 18 degrees.

i do not like snow nor cold
Mama, what letter is it?
Yaaa Mamabear
thanks mkl!!!!
now that you are done mama bear you will have time for a pedicure and cleaning lol
You live in the wrong place then aknitter.
LOL ak!
i know i think i was swithced at birth with someone from hawii
We'll get snow for about the next month, then the temperature will be too low for snow most of the winter.
who can't spell
eewww too cold to snow -- yuck
when I was born, the stork was flying west to east and sneezed over the midwest and dropped me - I was supposed to end up on the east coast, I know it!
see i knew the stork made mistakes
The extreme cold sucks the moisture out of the snow and makes the roads dry. Not slick like they are right now.
i was in alaska in may for a vacation ... the weather was nice hten
just read your bio, mkl! I have a son in law in the AF!!
Summers are great. I don't like a lot of heat. (I graduated high school in Las Vegas)
Where's he stationed?
I got hardly any trick or treaters because I stuck up a police notice telling them to bugger off. I don't mind the little kids, in home-made costumes, who come with adults for fun or sweets. What I do hate is the older kids who just want money for booze, fags (cigarettes) or drugs. I went out to the local shop earlier, after hearing much shuffling outside my porch and ran into a whol gang of at least a dozen older lads with masks and IRA-type balaclavas on. I pointed to my sign before I opened the door. 'I'm blind!' the lad with the 'scream' mask told me. 'I hope you don't trip over then!' I replied. We all walked off my drive together,... 'trick or treat?' asked one masked lad. I shrugged. 'Have you got a pound then?' he asked. 'If I had,' said I. 'I'll be spending it in the shop for a lettuce for our dinner!' We all walked over to the shop together, no one snatched my purse and every one of them failed to pinch something from the shop.
gamblers high school
He and my daughter live on Minot AFB in ND
Well done on the fireworks, Mamabear!
thanks jac!
Oh man. What a posting. One of mine's in Vandenberg in Cal. The other is in Mildenhall in England
well i must be off to bed, got an early flight tomorrow off to baltimore
where are your sons, mkl?
night all and thanks for the clues
Have a good trip, aknitter.x
oops - typed that as you were already answering it!
ta ta
:-)
they are trying to get restationed, but no luck so far
Nobody needs a clue?
hello, I"m back for my last 8
bye bye ak!
hi harpj!
Don't know if you know where it is Mamabear, but I was born in Fulton Illinois
Hi Harp.
can't say I ever heard of Fulton, mkl - whereabouts in IL is it?
Iowa, Illinois border. About two hours from you.
It's very coldl here, around 10 F, so we had way fewer trick or treaters than usual, only about 300!
Wow. You're colder than we are right now.
jac - do trick or treaters in the UK beg for money?
Does anyone give out popcorn balls anymore?
North Dakota was supposed to get 5 or 6 inches of snow today
Do you need any clues, Harp?
popcorn balls are iffy, since some people put razor blades in them in the past
babbz - Yes - as I said in my earlier posting. It's older kids who ask for money. It's for booze, cigs, drugs or fireworks.
harpjane where in montana are you? My daughter went to college in bozeman and my son lives in woming.
I know. Doesn't that suck. I remember getting them when I was little.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!! My boys are finally snug in their beds, all bathed, and worn out from the cool night air.
There's a family on our block that gives out popcorn. They stopped one year, because they were concerned about the problems, but the kids all asked where the popcorn was.... i think we live in a little shangrila or something. I'm in Hamilton, 45 miles south of Missoula
Well, if nobody needs clues I'm off. Navy NCIS is coming on. See you when the puzzle flips.
6 to go, don't know if I need clues or not jac
me too!!!!! everything has to be individually wrapped in a factory now!
nice to meet you, mkl!!!!
hi greengeeny!!!!! HAPPY BOO day to you too!
wowsa, I can see where you'd be ticked off. We would probably crack up laughing if anyone asked for $$ here = it's such a bizarre tradition, this trick or treating and begging for candy.
that guitar playing word is everywhere today, isn't it!
that's what I said earlier, harp!
4 left....
go harp, GO!!!!!
Harp - I'm here if you need me.
ro 5/16?
such a beautiful state - i've not been to missoula but love that whole area. but it sounds cold there today! It was 70 degrees here in chicago area yesterday and today the temps are plummeting...brr
Well, we had a blast!! This is probably the last year that Andrew will trick or treat, and he had so much fun. He made his own costume...a ghoul. And, Christian is just at the age where he was so excited about people giving him candy. I made his costume...he was a robot. Everybody seems to have a negative feeling about Halloween, but we had a good time.
(I reckon Harp is as stubborn as me, when it comes to asking for clues versus finding the damned words even if it kills you.);)
It's actually not usually that cold here. We're breaking records this week, I think.
Why can't witches get pregnant?
There husbands have hollow-weenies!!
ro5/16 - cosmetic cheek reddener or French for 'red'.
got em! done
re6 is the plural.
mmmmmm..... punky pie.......
aha. My son goes to school in Laramie and our weather follows his by about 2 days. It's more reliable than the tv weatherman
lol greengeeny
Well done, Harp!
gonna go watch Boston Legal now. thanks all
'Bye Harp.
bye bye harp!
it was in the paper this morning...thought it was cute
greengeeny - groan!
I love that joke, gg - I tell it every year!
What do witches eat?
ch 7/44?
sandwiches!!
I think gg's gone batty
Okay those are the only corny halloween jokes that I know...
ch 7/44 - man's name + ho ho ho and a bottle of ***
good evening everybody
candy corny, gg?
evening button!
ch7/44 - to be sly during an exam(minus a vowel) + sailor's drink.
yeah...lots of corny stuff all night...
Hi buttonman.
I only have two words left....ce6 and fu6..can someone help me please
Well, off to hibernate, I must go.... Happy Halloween everybody!!!!!
So, tell me this isn't odd...my four year old was not afraid of any of the scary stuff tonight...he kept saying oh, that
that isn't real, or is that a mask...but my eleven year old was trembling in his boots..!!
Goodnight mama
Mamabear, are you still there?
fu 6 Hitler was called this.
yes button.....
buttonman, I feel CERTain you can get the ce6!
Want to work out your retirement age? (This is a site a friend sent to us earlier).... http://www.eset.com
cd6 looks like a breath mint but doesn't sound like it
fu6/33 - Hitler!
ce 6 sounds like the breath mint with an extra vowel near the end
fu6/33 = German word for 'leader'.
what can I do for you, mr button?
Jacula, I know the word but I do not know German so I do not know how to spell it...I can say it but not spell it....help me out...
My clues take forever to show up here tonight. Is it the site or my computer?
Mama, I need two words to finish...one is the fu6 and the ce6....
Mama, I need the ce6 and the fu6 to finish...I know the word for the fu but can't spell it
mo 5/16?
ce 6 - instead of a present, you get a gift ****ificate for your birthday + es
Button - fu + 8th letter of the alphabet + 18th letter + vowel + 18th letter.
mo5/16 - sounds like goathair yarn. Is actually an old Indian and Raj gold coin.
Jacula, got the fu, thanks..one to go
did you get my ce clue, button?
got the ce but I am still one shy...i have to figure it out
it is the re6...and then i am done
ce6/21 - short for piece of paper you get for passing an exam (not a diploma) + the sound (in 2 letters) of the 19th letter of the alphabet.
to take an exam again
thanks jac!
re6/18 - to examine again.
yes and it helped, thanks...i just need the re6 to finish
y/w gwmc.
re 6 - to take an exam again
se 5/10 would have me finished...
add a vowel to the end of the se 4/4, gwmc
fireworks
re6 - if you've been to hospital, or to the garage again, one before, and the problem has nor been detected... then a re*** (re-examination) may help with a diagnosis.
OK. I gotta go now.... nite all!!!!!!! CONGRATS BUTONMAN!!!!
Well done, button!
'Night Mama.x
Thanks Mama and Jacula
goodnite Mama
Goodnight all, I am turning in too
se5/10 - wht you did when you posted the letter or parcel + a vowel.
'Where's my cheque?' 'I don't know! I've definitely se** it to you!'
Thanks, got the se5. Too bad it's not in my word list....
Fireworks for you then, gwmc?
I thought there were supposed to be some! Unfortunately, I'm not seeing or hearing anything...
gwmc - Have you been a non-paying (non-pro) member of this site for more than a fornight (two weeks)? If so, that's why yu are not getting the stats or the fireworks now.
*fortnight
I thought as much. Guess I'm gonna have to pony up the cash...I'm in the US, but I know what a fortnight is. I'm also familiar with Guy Fawkes.
I just can't find that mo5/16...help?
Going 'pro' on this site cost around $14 something, or around £7.50 in UK terms. Not much for lifetime membership.
mo5/16 = mo + 'she/that woman' with a different vowel in the middle.
Guess I'm gonna go delete some spam. Thanks again and see y'all later.
No use me saying it's how Cilla Black would pronounce the stuff on your head, I guess.:(
37 left...just started when I said happy halloween...this is the fastest that I have completed so much!!
Thx Jac....Couldn't see it for all the other words I think are there, that aren't
gwmc - that's just what I did when I finished Babble earlier. I went away for a week last week and had 39 spam in one place, 10 in another and 4 in another to get rid of.
autumn moon (lovely name!) - we call those phantom words.
Thx again, Jac. It's the translation of my chinese name
Unless, of course, the word 'phantom' is in the grid... then we'd say what you just said.
I call them words outside the grid; or WOTG's
Good description, Eggcorn.
I actually have a tendency to call them !@#$% because they aren't in the list!! lol
LOL, autumn! Incidentally, what site, if any, did you get your translation of your name from? I'd like to know what my own is (real name, that is).
Mind you, these days, with so many people on the net and in real life calling me Jacula...sigh!
Jac...it's my real chinese name, translated into English.
Autumn - is there any way of doing the reverse?
I guess 'Jacula' is 'night being' or something?
I'm a night owl, mostly, for sure.
When naming our 'non-asian' friends and spouses, we usually find the meaning of their name and then ask one of the uncles to find a translation that sounds good.
Which is how I got my internet name...
autumn - unfortunately, my real full name means 'usurper'.:(
Ist name, that is.
I'll ask for the translation of something to do with the night. Look up your name in other languages to see if you can find something you like
I have 27 to go and I want to try to finish this one tonight without my dictionary
I know what my name means, autumn. It's very negative with my ex-married surname but positive with my former (rare) surname.
Ask for clues, autumn, and I will give.
17 left..
oe 7 anyone??
Thought you had finished, gg!
oh no...I just started about 45 minutes ago!!
oe7 is the e6/24 (female egg production word) spelled UK way, gg.
hello all -- I'm back for about 20 minutes to help clue
autumn moon - I see you're Canadian -- where?
thanks...you're a peach!
gg - It took me 48 mins earlier today to finish grid with interruptiion to feed 2 cats. You CAN do it! It's posssible.
14 left...
gogogogg!
Hi again, jilli. Where did you spring from?

You mean just now, jac? From supper - lol
I had relatives on Vancouver Island, but nw they've moved to Courtice, Ontario.
Jilli....May have to talk to you about your danes. Hubby wants one. I think they drool too much. I have 11 left so I am going to be ignoring the chat until I finish.

Hearing that old rock track now...'Seems like a long time...'
Danes don't drool if they're properly bred
hi lib -- boo!
eek!

Jilli - relatives got older? That's why they moved? Don't know. Assume Danes advice relates to Great Danes? Still hearing Rod Stewart re the long time song. LOL.

I ou7 my size 8 shoes
I ou7 my size 8 shoes

A child may ou7 her shoes. and when yu tell people about it, it will be past tense, you'll tell them she ou7 them!

ask and ye shall receive, gg!
jilli - No idea, re the relatives in Canada, but I do know Ontario was where they started off about 35 years ago.

one extreme to the other, eggy!
first te4 and te6??
I've not visited them over there yet, though they have been back 4 times to see all of us, or for funerals etc. Got a great photo of my late gran over there though in a typical gran pose... she's standing by the statue of a Red Indian and feeling his bum! LOL. It's my favourite pic of her.
first te rhymes with ova but is minus one cons
te6 is like an earthquake but with 2nd and 3rd letters reversed
I have that te6...need the one before it..
jac - naughty granny! Guess you take after her?
te4/6 - sheep in their 2nd yea of before 1st shearing. Rhymes with (apparently, as I learned tonight) UK word for the things you keep your washing on the line with. (Little Margerets? Old fashioned shortener for Margaret.)
the other te 6 -- cons + chewy stuff
thanks jac!!
jilli - I sure do!
