almostest {sigh} - my phantom is anisette - my favorite after dinner sip.
lots of people with more money than brains, kierlex, not like us, the virtuous "more brains than money" types!
*just realizing that might give people the impression I live in a cardboard box with my brains*
i love it over here/seattle area but i couldn't handle the traffic. or the cost of food, for godsakes milk costs twice as much!
hey ata, obi wan's here too :)
yes, i will always have more brains than money. LOL.
yes, prices in Seattle are scary. Other westside places aren't that bad, but it's still more expensive than the other side of the mountains. In my humble opinion, worth every penny! LOL

yes please melon
well the root has to do with youth, I believe - then stick a pretty long suffix on it - the 8, 10, & 11 are related
what are the first two letters melon?
starting letter is.... ???
he
hmmm, that's not the definition on dictionary dot com, but those 1st 4 letters are the minor Greek godess of youth.
fabulous words!
oh boy. I got it! them!
tx my muse - i thought everyone had looked at lickety's clues first.

thanks! got it...what is that, a greek cheese celebration?
i think just any celebration
when vowels run together, they contract
i don't think i've blinked in the past 15 minutes =)
hursh, that actually makes sense.
blink kier! blink.
my contacts have withered to dried husks...
my linguistics class comes in handy sometimes
blink, kier, blink!!!!
might be time to get my glasses on... oh yeah. let out my inner nerd.
i was going to warn you about that kier. someone i know pulled out their dry contact lenses and took part of their cornea with it!!
eww.
rehydrate before you take them out if they are really dried out.
fran - ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww & ouch!
Query for the evening: Does babble improve or degrade your spelling??
not shur kier
:-)
lol fran
fonix for dumeez
i did the thing with the cornea and the contacs. both eyes. hospital, blindfolds, no sight for over a week.
it probably increases your vocabulary, but with all the alt spellings you'll confuse other people.
oh, and hurts like hell
owee!!!
hmmm. that sounds awful, joey. actually, i would like to get appendicitis or something so i could take some time off work. LOL i know that sounds weird.
oh joey! were you able to go back to contact lenses?
ok. it is weird.
be careful kierlex what you wish for!
doctor said sure, just use eye drops. 3 months later the same thing. haven't worn contacs in over 20 years
omg joey!
no - and it happened AGAIN? !!!!
kier - pick something less painful than the eyes. try back spasms. works for basketball players.
my hub had his appendix out last may, didn't seem too bad... and he got to take a week off and people fussed over him =)
of course, he woudln't fuss over me...
i haven't worn contacts for a while, now all these stories are scaring me!
i was putting drops in every hour. the second time out it was not as bad.
yeah i was going to say kier, it's not the same when mom is sick or immobile.
the contacts they make now are a LOT friendlier to the eye
My hubby is the worst nurse EVER. I was on bedrest for 3 months when I was preggo with baby 2 and I wanted to kill him.
i agree, but i won't try it. had cataract surgery on one eye, it is strong enough that i don't need glasses any more except to see close
19 to go...
woo hoo hursh!
19 to go???? are you on speed?
omygod hursh
i am velocious if that is what you mean, kierlex
hee, hee, that's hursh's new word.
From the heart of hell I **** at thee, thou grid!
hi douglas!
for hate's sake i spit my last br5 at th4
Hello FranMag, hurshy
you say velocious, i say 'on speed'... let's call the whole thing off
hursh is the robo-babbler (say that 3 times fast)
supercalifragilisticexpialvelocious...
BR5 Hursh?????? I don't think so.....
velocirabbler
i mean 6. those words with lotsa consonants look shorter than they are.
At least, I've never been short of br6

phantom bastion
4 7 letters and i will have attained my mediocre goal
phantom: stereo
move, kier, move! blink & shake, blink & shake!
what is the mediocre goal, melonhead? i can only aspire...
i have fe and he, what are the other two 8s please?
TOS Episode "The Cloud Minders" was on TV Land earlier this evening...
Me either. I watched Wrath of Khan, but didn't sit long enough for the rest. Recognised the quote is all. No idea which of Shakespears mellodrama's it came from.
ni8
wanion is my other phantom.
ta8
not shakes, melville, moby dick
mediocre is halfway, including all 7 letters and longer - at least that's my mediocre goal.
thanks hursh and bookwomen! *begins search)
Hello everyone happy holidays! This game is addicting but sometimes it makes me feel dumb! Just being curious what does the phantom word mean?
I couldn't stomach that one, even in the Classic Comics series.....
you know you're a babbler when your phantom is a word most people wouldn't have heard of
:-)
a hantom is a word you keep seeing in the grid that isn't there - mine this eveinig is anisette, for example.
phantom
as william goldman said, "as all but the most punishment-loving readers can omit the sections of whaling from moby dick..."
except we all know that melon is far from mediocre!
hi gilli!
melon, a prefix of your phantom is in the grid...
belfry denizens
you're right doug, maybe i gave something away. . .
thanks Fran - we are all an above average, pleasingly zany bunch.
did any of you read 'ahab's wife'?? I quite liked it. Haven't mustered the oomph to read The Mobe-ster tho
i loved the whaling parts. call me . . . . weird.
we had to read it jr. year in english - teacher knew trek too, asked who knew what movie had used the quote - guess who did!
ok, i must go gently tear off my contacts and prepare for bed. but i'll be back because i am laying bed already, mooo ha ha.
yay, got the ni8
see you later kier!
moby Dick is in a zillion short chapters. i read it, 1 chap per night (oh, that sounds ALL wrong!) - ahem, 1 chapter per night over a period of months. i had to remind myself that there would be no exam, to just get in and enjoy it. There is a lot of humor. Melville's short stories are good too.
sleep well kier - give them peeper a rest.
i liked secret sharer
Pleasant dreams, kierlex
Have a wonderful new year everyone! good evening:)
FOX News is currently remembering the recently deceased Gerald Ford
the only melville i didn't care for was billy budd. i enjoyed moby.
anyone see the very bizaare, modern film version of Bartleby?
by the time most of the world even finds out, they'll have remembered him to death (no pun intended)
ah, bartleby!
It almost seemed like the predecssor to "Being There"
bartleby was wonderful. i would rather not.
anybody got the top O?
or finish E or i?
I'd prefer not to.
you'd prefer not to finish the vowels?
hmm... anyone done with H then?

Good morning all - my system is running very slowly - is this to do with the problem in Asia??
Ursh, -- no problem from Israel
am I blind, stare as I might, just found 2 7's and nothing bigger. I must b missing something?!?!
no problem with the computer or system, just the user is slow!!!
bbl, have fun!
if anyone still awake out there can give any help with the 8's 9's or bigger..........?
Ishult - he 8 - the name of a plant plus the name of an art gallery in London
just saw a good clue for the he 10 & 11 combo-like the usual h word for living in a place but with he instead of ha-a verb and then the noun from the veryb
there is a 8, 10, and 11 based off a he4/7...
he 10 and he11 - extend the he8 to give the plant plus the ending given to a place where trains leave from (last 6 letters) then plural.
ni8 - nearing twenty
thanks Haz, got those now
reation
That's good, Ishult.
?????
There's another fe8/9 combination, looks like the beginning of a celebration combined with the ending of the he10
haz-do you mean that there are 2 fe8&9 combos?
No, not necessarily, the another refers to the 8/9 combo rather than to the fe part of it.
thank god! Have one, but couldn't see another!
Sorry Eva to put you through torture!
no problem....got the juices running anyway.
hello

ta8 clue please?
dezy, plural of the ta7, extend the second ta5/14
thankyou fran -- finally knocked the 8s over
yw dezy!
I wonder how Karys's wedding went, did anyone ask her when she was coming back?
don't remember fmitch
I'm not sure what day she comes back, but the party for friends is January 6 so presumably they'll be back a few days before that.
good evening everyone
hi andree!
better grid today

hi seano!
hi fran....fellow babblers et al, hope everyone had a lovely xmas
ty
Good morning seano.
hope everyone had a great christmas day
sure did seano, spent the day with my family and saw my closest friends.
I had a lovely day
my five year old son was a walking cliche, he opened his first toy, put the box over his head and played robot
Good for him!
morning all
hi sprite
Good morning sprite!
hi sprite!
that's cute seano!
You have a great kid, seano :)
my 8 momth old grandaughter played with wrapping paper all day, could have saved myself a fortune, lol
yesterday he spent an hour throwing a paper aeroplane round the place....doesn't he know how much these toys cost ;-)
For pity's sake don't be telling the shops or they will be selling expensive, empty boxes called 'Play potential'.
i will try and put a photo of him in his superman costume as my icon....wait one!
isn't it wonderful that kids can be satisfied with such small things :D
it's too late haz, they are already selling playhouses made from cardboard.
LOL Haz..nice marketing strategy
They should get real estate agents involved in marketing toys. They see the potential in everything.
fmitch, i hope you noticed your greek cheese today
I can't believe I have missed that Fran!
an 8/9 combo builds from it!
I'm sure you would have sniffed it out eventually fmitch
so it actually has a purpose in the grid today
te7/28 please
spiderboy icon ready.... may need a refresh
it's a relief to know that this puzzle has it's greek temple as usual
te7/28 - arguments can be the cause or the result of this
my neck has alot of it...andree
Fran - you say the an8/9 builds from the cheese?
no sprite, the fe8/9
te7 = tightness, a type of headache caused by stress
so cute seano
lol, glad I checked, I took your entry quite the wrong way :)
If I am honest I hadn't noticed the top f at all, someone send me a fish it might wake me up :)
lol, i just realized how you read it!
what a cuty seano!
It was fun though, trying to connect that an with the cheese :)
nothing changes does it , I remember my youngest who is now 32 wearing a superman outfit day in and day out
thanks eva, i totally overlooked the greek temple(s)
seano, he is adorable :)
i'm sure you were thinking i was out of my mind sprite!
you're too kind...he has his moments though ;-)
Of course not Fran, I was thinking I was on the brink of learning a new word!
Spoken as a proud father, seano! :)
thx for te clue
there is a word that was brand new to a lot of people (including me), the sh7/40, an interesting one, both the word and the definition.
Ah, a familiar word in these parts.....
Oh, I need to see that word! *starts hunting*
i had a feeling you would know it haz.
Joined in with MVA on Christmas day but didn't get round to it yesterday
across the pond i guess it would be the same as a "speakeasy"
I've made it sound as though illegal drinking dens are everywhere - it's not quite that bad!
thanks Fran. Knew the word (nifcec one isn't it?), but hadn't noticed it
cool eva!
That sh7 is a very common word in SA
Is it like one of those impossible yiddish word?
it's sort of a compound word sprite
no-more like one of those impossible irish words I think
at least the two parts are words on their own.
It's a combination of a female pronoun and a past participle of 'to be'
not male, not a pea
that was a perfect clue :) Got the word, now I want the meaning *click* Thanks for the help!
that's what's so great about babble, with people all over the world, there are really no words that someone wouldn't know.
Great! I justified my babbling for today, right?
any day you learn a new word is a good day!
Sprite - the first syllable is proounced like french 'je' and the emphasis is on the second syllable.
thats everyday fran, remembering them is another matter
that's true andree!
Darn, I only now see that there are REAL biggies in this grid :) It is a pretty word, that Sh7, glad I have learned it.
hi jfb and all others
hi mva!
hi MVA
Just don't start frequenting them too often, sprite, or your babbling will suffer!
hi mva
morning all
hi onyx!
Grin - promise I won't Haz!
Hey onyx!
been ages sprite!!
hi MVA - just off shopping
Sure has, onyx! How are you doing?
Shopping - how could you????

You're welcome dezyon.
bye dezy!
bye dez
ty for the fo - got them - odd words
bye dezyon
They are strange looking, but remember them - they'll be back!
Actually, they are from german. The 3rd letter was an Umlaut in the original spelling. In Holland we have the same name for the apparatus that blows your hair dry :)
I have thought of making a list of strange words - but i dont have a big enough notebook
makes sense sprite, def says a warm dry wind
Yes, I am sure that is what we stole it from, Fran!
Blowing hair dry reminds me that I should really do something about achieving a state of clothed cleanliness. Back soon.....
stole is such a strong word sprite, you "adapted" it. :-)
Now I feel guilty!
oh my, does that mean haz was babbling in unclean nakedness?
Ah but Fran, Dutch is full of stolen words. We even have words to define which language we stole them from... like germanism, romanism...
I am pretty sure that Haz can be naked, but never unclean ;)
we5/22 please
LAter Haz
andree, andrew lloyd we***

if so, add an i in the middle of that word
thx fran
Thnx Fran :)

Congrats Andree
the two sh7 please
morning FMitch :) ...enjoying a break from work?
One sh7 extends the bed linen
only got one, sh7/32= extention of bed linen
one is doer of sh5/12
Morning sherb, am actually working this morning but it's nice and quiet
...and morning Haz :)
The other sh7 is the illegal drinking den spoken of before (sh7/40)
ursh - the first one is a compound word = not a he but a SH* + what you make coffee from (spelled differently) (also a form of the word to be)
A most unusual word Haz!
Good grief we have them all over SA and i did'nt put it in!!!
ty JMann
goodnight all and happy babbling, see you tomorrow
Good morning sherb!
one day it's po6... the next it's sh7... Haz is very good with the illegal drinking clues...
yw lshult
night andree!
bye andree
nite Andree :)
i think you're on to something sherb!
Haz - mispent youth???
Isn't it awful? All theory in my case, no practical experience.
oh Haz... I was just starting to build up your reputation...
lol sherb
Sorry to shatter your illusions!
sheb Haz must have one vice surely, we just haven't found it yet :)
any clues on the WE 7/48
Does being rubbish at sewing not count as a vice?
jmann, not quite dry
we7/48 - not completly dry, an approximate description
completely (the typing is getting worse as well)
well, she does get a bit irritated when people give really simple clues... but since that has many of us snorting fire, Haz is a paragon of restraint by comparison... ...will have to ponder this one further...
A BIT irritated? You haven't seen me throwing things at the screen......
BRB phone
ah, thanks Haz and Fran - I was missing the double consonant
yw jmann
how are you guys doing on the grid? better than yesterday?
I'm enjoying the chance to babble without having to think about catering!
i have 14 left with just my monkeys and the chat log, so much better than yesterday's.
44 to go ... but none of the biggies yet... hoping to come across them by chance... another in my long list of pet hates is when people arrive and ask for clues to the big words straightaway... have they never heard of delayed gratification?
wow. i haven't played for so long and i've completely lost my touch, lol. 135 still to find!
I know, sherb - I like to build up to finding the big words eventually.
hi miametro
hey, i gave a clue before i asked
hi franmag :)
if that was directed at me
hey miametro
Fran, Sherb - any of the ones you're missing S's, T's, or W's
it was a general comment, JMann... and I wouldn't count a 7 letter word as one of the biggies today... :)
what's that jmann?
well, that's true
See you all later
bye ren8!
later Ren :)
oh, i just wanted to see if you needed any clues for any of the S, T or W words
bye Ren8
G'd morning Babblers! After several weeks of desperately missing Babble, I finally get to experience the frustration again.... :)
i'm missing one or two of each and i haven't looked at the list yet, so i wouldn't know what to ask for. thanks though!
hi lorip!
welcome back to the masochists convention Lori :)
no problem Fran
hello LoriP
:-) @ Sherb
Darn phone does keep etting in the way
I know the feeling FMitch!
Did you get many over Christmas Haz?
May I have a word total please?
Christmas Eve was very busy, we were off Christmas Day and then had the phone yesterday. Not particularly busy yesterday - one Westie disgraced itself by eating a whole layer of Milk Tray.
192 Lori :)
The funniest call was on Christmas Eve - a gentleman hoped we would supply large veterinary syringes to assist with 'beer-making' - poteen more like!
eeww poor dog
ONLY 192? :) Thank ye very much.
It had managed to bite its way through outer wrappings. It'll probably be sick today, but dark chocolate is more dangerous than milk.
people arriving... be back later :)
okay, 14 left for tomorrow, i'm off to sudoku and then bed.
night everyone!
nite Fran :)
Haz sorry to interupt but how do you say no to your dog as its very cute
G'night Fran.
night Fran
Good night FranMag - and bye Sherb.
Night Fran
oh and bye sherb
whoops, nite Fran
My brother had a dog so trustworthy you could leave your sunday ropat on the floor and she wouldnt touch it - but chocolate? She could find a drawer with choc in,open it, peel the foil off the chocolate very neatly and scoff the lot!!
ropat?? tread roast!
sheen
Deeh that is a clever dog
I was just wondering if I should investigate ropat as a new alternative for Sunday eating.
sorry did it again! Must still be druink from Christmas!
ropat is delicious - but very expensive!!!
Deeha when i was little my dad put a biscuit on the dogs nose and he feel asleep and two hours later the dog still hadn't touched the biscuit

What a strange word! Does the he 8 build on it then?
yes
It's a plant Merk and the 8 does build off it but is not related
the next word is that + a large museum (actually two) in London, and then so on
Ack! I just realized there are 're' words. I loathe re words..... :(
And a He10 as well
And the 11
i know lori - but there are only 6, and they don't seem to be that bad
I found it. Please tell me that the 10 and 11 also do. That would be easy for a change.
not that i have two of the RE words
Just did, Merk
You answered my question as I was typing.
grin
JMann, 6 or 20, they always confound me...... :(
re6: re + misspelled stuff to lure fish
as so: steff?
Close :)
ah, thanks sprite - that was right there and didn't see it
yw :)
Hey, I only have a 130 some left to go...
Piece of cake
you're close then, Lori
LOL eternal optimists, and masochists! :)
darn, you know me that well already??
wh5/20 is a nice Scots word, meaning a goodly number (it's a kind of cross between the wh4/9 words on either side of it.
I like We7/28, sorta kinda not dry
Hi sprite, Haz, Lori, Rab. Recovering from Xmas? Anyone got a clue for the second ba6/24 word?
is the first ba 7/36 built from the 4/7?
G'd morning Hydra
I'm trying to find the fe 8 and 9, but I can't even get the fe 4,7 before it to know where to start. So could someone clue that one for me first please?
he who hits, hydra? Hi :)
The second ba6/24 traditionally surrounds fish when cooked
I have ba6/24 is the gooey stuff before you bake it

I like the wh4/9, it's my reaction everytime I find an new word now.
the second ba may be found in the big leagues or a mixing bowl
It's afternoon now - 12.20 here! Thanks, sprite. Hadn't noticed the r lurking in the corner. Hello, JMann
Does the 8 build off it then?
Yes - it has the same ending as st7/28
I see my problem. I did not see the second f. I was trying to make fe 4 with the f on the left. ty

I just gave you a clue for that
change third cons. though
see 7:27
ty both. I did not see the JMann clue. apologies
Congratulations Grace !!!!!!!
no problem - i just didn't want to have to retype
thx all. clues before I go?
I should have gone down to that corner. I've been overlooking that letter because it is almost useless today.
Lots of biggies today..going to work on them
Good morning
hi Mom
grace - clues on the AN 6 and 7?
G'd morning Mom
Hi Annie
good morning Mom
Good morning, all
G'd morning M.P.

thank you, I thought it was cute
:) M.P.
bye all!
Hi Grace
bye grace
Have a good one Grace.
see ya later Grace
Lori - same as the second TA 5/14, but the second to last letter is a different vowel
bye Grace
Bye Grace ... here the great hello/goodbye cycle starts again. Maybe we just shouldn't do it, just leave.
bye grace
*yawn* hi all
Thanks JMann
there's an ar7 that's similar to the an 7.....
M.P., would you just leave your friends without saying goodbye? :)
Morning Ata :)
Hi Atalante
good morning ata
hi atalante
any clues on the RO 7/28? It's the one after an article of clothing
No, it's just such a big thing that goes on each time ... some of them leave without seeing it, anyway!
G'd morning Atlante
G'd morn, Ata
ro 6,18 please
I know M.P., I was just teasing you a bit
jmann - sounds like a type of shellfish......
ro 6 rhymes with putting a car on a ho*** and raising it in the air. Add an ending.
merk - a list of people's names (similar to a male chicken, but without the double vowel)
JMann, the first te 5/12 clue? My elevator isn't going all the way to the top on this one.... :)
ty
Thanks, JMann, the clue helped me, too.
TE + what you say when it's cold (spelled differently)
how about the an6/18 please
sorry Lori - what were you looking for? TE or TA
yw M.P.
I normally said "bl**dy h*ll its cold!" does that fit?
JMann, the first te 5/12please (I probably mistakenly typed ta)
LOL Ata
lol ata
like I did this morning when the dog decided she *had* to go for a walk ....
sorry about your luck there Ata...I can just open my backdoor now and let my dog walk himself (*^_^*)
LOL again, Ata ... of course, we all knew you had a connection with a dog, but him/her dragging you out there ... funny.
TE 5/12 = wow that guy has great P**S ( chest muscles) + **KE me out to the ballgame
No offense, or anything, I'm sure it was horrible. Just funny for us.
thanks, JMann, I've seen that word before but never would have gotten it
M P obviously doesn't have personal experience of spaniels and their looks.
Thank ye very much JMann (and for your patience). I wouldn't have gotten that in a month of Sundays!
Atalante, If I had your dog, he/she would be spoiled rotten...they are so beautiful
ty jmann - ditto to lorip
no problem
she is Annie! and yes, Haz understands *the look*!
I'm finished thru the r words. Time for breakfast ... see you later.
lucky for me a have a little Shih-Tzu and he is a mammas boy and doesn't go very far, turns around and runs back to the house to get warm as soon as his business is done
thanks Merk and movieman - i just got the RO 7
bye merk
enjoy breakfast
later Merk
bye Merk
jmann, i'm really confused with that te5/12! lol.
any clues on the final RE
Atalante - hello! I'm just taking a very short break from shifting stuff from one place to the other.
If I didn't live on the 23rd floor, I would most definitely have a dog. I would have to let him out like faerie does. I think I am going to get another cat soon.
re7/28 - a type of liquor.
Hiya Haz :)
i'm taking a short break from the Knotwork From Hell :)
hi Haz!
re plus Miss Turner with an s inserted
Hello Faerie - are you well?
Hi Haz
Does knotwork involve needles?
dogs are wonderful :) we went down to a place on the coast today where there's an old ruined church right next to the sea. Only the two main towers still stand, and its an amazing place to wander around
Yes Haz doing great....and LOVING my new job
no! needle free! well .. I'm using a 0.35mm pen ... that's kinda stabby
Ata that sounds beautiful take me next time :)
That's great, Faerie! And hello to all the other greeters (in Scotland, people who weep are also said to 'greet')
me too!!!!
Needle free, you say? Perhaps it's a hobby I could pursue!
http://tinyurl.com/ygb8lb - not my photo, far too good!
Good Morning all, what do the 9,10's and 11 start with please.
Faerie - your Christmas shape up programme has worked wonders, judging by your icon.
thanks Haz for the RE 7
Good morning ! I cannot believe my husband let me sleep in. I didn't wake up until 8:00 am. Unheard of for me. What if I was dead? and he was off to work w/out me?
hello peri
G'd morning Peri
G'd morning Gramma
not much time to play this am, need to go have a stress test
the 10 and 11 start with he
You're welcome, JMann.
Has any one been to st. Endelion on he Noth Cornish Coast? Theres a church there thats been almost completely buried by sand. Thats an amazing place as well
Hello Peri and Gramma
peri, hope everything is okay

Hi Gramma and Peri

John Betjeman is buried in the graveyard there as he loved the area so much
thanks Peri you bettr
help with the C? i have the money plus it's plural.
oh wow, didnt know that
ce6/21 - one who decides what you can or cannot watch
Haz, thank you!
I'm totally blank on the re/7 a type of liquor.
ce4/5 - sounds the same as seat
my c is now gray
miametro - TE 5/12 = TE + what a movie star does for work (or someone in theatre) but rearrange the three letters
He spent a lot of time in Cornwall. The seior citizens centre in Wadebridge is named after him
re7 - the liquor is foreign. re, the russian royalty beginning (two letters) then the last three letters of Miss Turner's name (as in Ike's partner)
ahh, got it. Thank ye.
Wadebridge - what a lovely place ..... :/
Glad to help!
Lunch!
any clues on the IN 7?
Enjoy Haz.
later Haz
enjoy your lunch, haz
bye Haz
Later Haz
JMann, you made me look. IN + to say a fact

bye faerie
later, faerie
Later Faerie
See you later , Faerie
help with the TE 5/12 , i cant seem to get it!
kind of like the ni5/12 but one more, jas
the first TE 5/12 = TE + the award for best ***or or ***ress goes to... - then rearrange the letters
te + 2nd consonant + **stefully decorated
T + chest muscle p** + **ke it or leave it
the second TE 5/12 = the eighth, the ninth, and the TE***
JMann said a word
whoops, sorry
thanks all
harumphhhh, the grid says "statin" is not in the dictionary....must be a very old dictionary
the TE 6/12 is the plural of the second TE 5/12 (the eighth, the NI***, the TE***)
I agree Annie
the third TE 5/12 is a plural of the TE 4/5 = the second TE 5/12 minus the middle letter (then make it plural for TE 5/12)
anyone need any clues before I go?
how about clues for the humungous he words?
HE 4/7 = HE + the animal that makes honey (minus the last letter)
gramma, he --to dwell or live in---change second vowel
HE 8/55, 10/91 and 1/112 build on that
TY that will give me something to ponder
HE 8/55 = HE 4/7 + a museum in London (actally two museums, one of them is for Modern art)
hebetate
sorry
HE 10/91 = take the HE 8/55, drop the last letter and add United Nat***
then make it plural for the HE 11/112
and plural
now look whos saying words!
just kidding
You started it! neener...neener, neener
now i know where to go in London :)
I know, I totally did! LOL
i've never been to that museum, but I hear its great
it used to be an old factory
i dont like the modern one
it has a nice location though
morning lucke
the art in it or the building itself?
i dont like either
im not big into modern art, but the dali they have is Great!
i saw a dali in Chicago, and it was absolutely stunning
it was in Woody Allen's film Matchpoint, wasn't it? (the tate modern)
tate modern is an amazing building
st 4,8 plez
i went to dali universe in london, that was fun!
i went to dali universe in london, that was fun!
its a big warehouse/ industrial plant
meat and vegs, merk
Oh, around and over. Ty

i am going to get fireworks today if it kills me

you are on the way! ill watch!
Babble fireworks haven't killed anyone yet... at least, not that I've heard of.
just dont stand under a tree
That would be Babble lightning, Annie!
only from exhaustion on the side
well... i am down to 100 and I need to go.... best of luck to you all and watch out for that lightning!
vicuna, you are right...going to get more caffeine
Oh I'm not so observant when it comes to the grid. Bye JMann
Bye, Dorens.
I could probably use a small jolt of lightning this morning.
me too
help w/the 2 Os please
But alas, all the thunder-like noises I'm hearing are just my stomach growling.
3 Os
Hello and goodbye to all I missed while on the phone.

Okay, the ro 7 is eluding me. Anyone?
It rhymes with putting your car up on a ho*** to fix it. Add an ending.
merk, t ---**ck the halls and **ke me out to the ball game
Thank ye Merk
greek letter, merk
merk, wrong clue t - d**k and then **ke me out to the ball game
ty
got to go
have a great day lucke
Later jas
yes i'll be back later
I'm back. I've just been playing volcano. My son is the lava, I was supposed to be the ash, and my daughter is alternately "fancy lava," or "the bad smell." It's very strenuous erupting, so now I am resting with the grid.
vic, have a nice rest with the grid
WB Vicuna
... until the next time I am required, of course.
we havent had our favorite volcano in a while so vicuna is taking its place
True! I've been missing good old etna. (Admittedly, I usually miss it even when it IS in the grid.)
good morning
hi jane
Hello, harp.
Fireworks!
yay for merk@!
Congrats Merk!
G'd morning Harpjane
Yay for Merk!
fancy lava! lol!
ty
how does one be fancy lava? am intrigued!
She was wearing her gauzy purple dress-up skirt and a "halo" made of a blue scarf. So she was quite fancy.
awwww!
purple lava! thats *really* impressive :)
Technically she was a pretty fancy bad smell, too, but that doesn't seem to have occurred to her.
The fe 8&9 please? I'm blanker than my chequing account
*hurriedly starts looking for fe8 and 9*
well bad smells can be pretty interesting!
lori, the formation of a fetus
celebrating greek cheese
especially purple bad smells
that is SUCH a bogus word, lol
Ata, love your clue
Thank ye all.
any clue on the IN 7?
lori, plural it
definitely a better meaning, Atalante
it was Haz's clue really :)
Oh, good clues, Annie and Ata. And now I am called upon to provide a snack to my volcanic children. BBL
in + st5/10
haz's clue, the master cluer
in7/28 - in + MA or SD or CA
in plural to say
*in plus to say
not plural
d'oh! thanks! I thought I'd tried that already... maybe I just thought I'd tried it, and never got around to typing it in. lol
I see I need to get more coffee, bbl
Later Annie
I"m stuck on E's and O's. All I have is o4 "possesses" could someone give me a few words, for a nudge in the right direction?
As they say in Deutschland......Ich haben das Feuerwerk......
feuerwerk! donner! blitzen!
Congrats movieman!
schön, movieman!
the o's were clued quite recetly, harp
I can't decide if the definition of the 11 fits what happens to you when you play Babble or if it describes the inability to complete the grid. Works either way...
harp, you have the variations of ea, to consume, right? THen there's a funny way of saying enough, en4 and plural, using word for the present
And now I've got that one out of the way, I'm only 4809 points away from the "Magic Million"!!!!!!!!
So I should reach the million before the end of the year.......
9 words left. Gawd i missed the frustrations of Babble!
inge thansks
go Lori!
can someone help with the A's in the right most column?
what is/are the beginning letter/letters for the 9, 10, and 11, please?
jas 2 ab's 2 ae's
As - to aid and ab** + pl. UK bubbly chcolate bar (ae4). and a type of bacteria that uses air to respire (ae6)
got em all, thanks crew
harpjane, he9, 10, 11
this is going to be an easy puzzle...already found 50 and ive been on 20 minutes!
Sorry, he 8, 10, 11
are they compound words, Vicuna?
me too rosewood, but I've been fooled more than once by an easy start!
well haha
ive got enough time to find all the words and get it all done
Ack. Company, and 1 word to go. :( Will have to come back later. Have a good morning all!
bye, Lori
grrrrrrrrrrr can I rant for a moment?
ok 45 to go... time to hit the showers, though. Be backl in a sec
the long he's mean to make dull or blunt, but you'll never have heard of the words. They start with the he4/7 before them, and then add the Modern Art gallery in London for the 8, and make it into a noun and a noun pl for 10 and 11.
Rant away, Ata!
Good morning, all. Rant to your heart's content, At
there's a monthly art thing I take part in, with a monthly theme for "contest" entries. A recently proposed theme is "lovers". People go yay and start talking about every lover they can think of. All man and woman. So I say what about homosexual lovers? Is that being allowed and if so, at what degree of "passion"? And the first reply was from someone I dislike anyway and all she wrote was "EWWWWWW!!!!! Well, I supposed it takes all kinds to make the world go round, as they say." Are people still really that homophobic??
wow, good clues, Vicuna, and you're right; never ever heard of those words
morning everyone - yes, aparently there are still people out there. many of them here in new england :)
Some are still very threatened by it, Atalante.
good morning all, today is a babbler's birthday, does anyone know who it is - memory fails me
I asked my rock about that, Atalante, and it said human sexuality is so ewwwwwww.
I have no personal wish to draw homosexual lovers, but I'm damn well going to make sure other people can if they want to!
that makes sense, angela - she lives in Massachusetts
Yes, the world at large is still so homophobic that here in Asheville, there are "recovery" groups to change the God-given gifts of local individuals. Here in the south, Angela, we can give your population a run for its money. Sad and pathetic...
hello, has everyone had a nice christmas?
When was Christmas?
I'm going to use he8 in a sentence today
Yesterday and Monday :P
lol babble raabble
clue for the O in the second column please
Hi, BR... why did Christmas pass you by?
bottom row
My parents raised me to respect everyone, not just people who I agree with or have the most in common with. Not fair. People are born that way and they cannot change that any more than I can change the fact that I'm Italian. Just my opinion.
too right, Angela
Hello, Scarlet..... I guess I just didn't participate
(Oops, missed your rant, Ata.) Yes, penty of homophobia going around. And I think the "eeew" factor is huge. Lots of people are willing to live and let live as long as they don't have to see it or think about it. But as soon as you draw a picture of it, they freak out.
so harp would you say what a he8
Oh, may I mention a wedding we attended last Fall - 2 of the dearest men you would ever want to know, had a wedding Thanksgiving weekend - it was the happiest occasion you would ever want to attend - I've never seen people at a wedding mix and mingle so beautifully - everyone was very friendly and mixing just beautifully - two lovelier people you would never hope to find
Atalante - I applaud your ability to think of others and to try to include everyone. The world would be a better place if everyone thought of others once in a while. The day will come when people are more open-minded....right?
Right on, Angela. We are who we are, and if we don't accept the green people, the polka-dotted people and the people who have made true contributions to this planet... then we are bereft, hollow and shallow.
hopefully, remluc! And I'm soooo tempted to draw the most flagrantly romantic picture of two men for this art thing now
Hello, flosey.... hope you had a good rest after yesterday's grid ordeal.
Exactly. If we start weeding out the "different" ones...soon, there will be no one left. Or they will all be in concentration camps.
I think you should Atalante. Just for giggles.
and show me a normal person anyway .....
Remember, though, and this is hard, that tolerance includes trying to reach out to homophobes, too. Educate them instead of demonizing them in their turn.
My husband and I were involved in a wedding a few years ago, and I was the "Best Woman" for two amazing men who felt committed enough to be married... it was an extraordinary celebration.
thanks you Babble - it really was horrendous wasn't it! Took hours - fortunately we had the time yesterday - hubby helped me
One of the most memorable photographs I've ever seen was of two couples in a park in San Francisco. One was an older couple, eating lunch and holding hands. In the foreground were two men, sitting on a blanket, sort of leaning into each other, looking into each other's eyes tenderly....
I think I will! actually, what I might do is just draw a close up of lips kissing or something, and just say they are 2 men or 2 women in the blurb under the photo
I am always the most normal person sitting in my chair when I am sitting there.
very very true Vi ... I'm just all *pointy* and grrrrr about it at the moment!
I actually like doing that Vicuna - my friend Kristy and I go out shopping and they find out later that she has a girlfriend and the look on some faces is just priceless. Apparently, she looks "normal". Cracks me up.
Oh, Ata, I didn't for a moment suggest you shouldn't rant and vent! lol That's important, too!
I've been playing at weddings for over 20 years, and I've yet to be asked to play at a gay wedding. One of my best friend's daughter married another woman, but they didn't want music...
I know, but your point is very important too!
Ata, why not the "prelude to a kiss"... the anticipation of a physical connection without the actual contact?
Normal, lol, we are all on a spectrum, no?
great idea Ata - sounds perfect!
my first though, of Lovers, would be a couple in a nursing home, one of them feeding the other
no music Harp? Not even Babaloo???
first thought
that sounds a beautiful photo, harpjane, I'd like to see that
oh now that is a wonderful idea! every month I try to do something different than the "normal" (haha) for each theme
a New Year's resolution Ata!
not even zip a dee doo dah!
wow - sounds sad to me! You've got to boogie, as they say!
oh Vi - this you will love - http://innocenceburning.deviantart.com /gallery/ - he does amazing linocut work. take a look!
Many homophobes (of whom my father-in-law is an example) have never knowingly met a gay person, let alone knowing a gay couple well enough to recognize that they are perfectly capable of meaningful relationships with each other and with God.
noooo that's sad! music is part of the celebration
Okay, I'm checking it out...
harpjane, my sister worked in a nursing home for a while, one of her saddest stories was the woman that was there and her husband, that showed up and did EVERYTHING for her every day. He told the nurses "she's taken care of me for 50 years, now I'm taking care of her"
just got the he6, it fits right in with the conversation
Vicuna - A lawyer I worked for is all for gay marriage. He said he will get double the business :)
LOL Angela! :)
kc8501, I don't find that sad, as long as they are both willing participants.
thanks Harpjane, my first word
now, on with the puzzle
well, the woman wasn't really "with it" and he did it till she died. verra sad
my gran did the same for my grandfather. travelled 2 hours or more each day to be with him in his nursing home for 7 years. every day.
my husband and I "joke" about how we're in between aging parents now, three have passed away and one is just beginning the slippery slope of senility. She says "dementia isn't all that bad, you meet new people every day!"
I already told my husband when I'm dead - they shall creamate me and he will wear me in an urn around his neck. We'll see if he ever gets a date after I'M gone!!
Hi everyone!
Are we all happy and well??
hey flask
so hard that getting old stuff. I'm not looking forward to it
angela that is ironic...my husband and i have a pact that the first one to go will be cremated and then buried with the remaining in the crook of the arm
mornin', afternoon all!
could I get a br clue?
respiration, harp
lol wurdy :)
wurdy, we're both getting cremated, told the kids, mix us up and then do whatever with us.
thast
i mena thanks
i mean, i mean thanks
laughingly i told my friends that wwhen i die and get creamated they are to take me shopping in all the stores i could never afford and just dip into the urn every now and then and send me on my way
lol
LOL
my father in law wanted his ashes spread over the Tasman glacier in New Zealand. He's been gone for 7 years now but someday I guess we'll get there!
you crack me up wurdy - you sound just like a friend of mine!
i have a very warped sense of humor
That's pretty far from Massachusetts, Angela!
don't forget the plurals uconn
as do I it seems!!
Inge2 - we have friends there so it won't be so bad, it's just taking a month or so off to do it is the problem :)
ok I'm back all... looks like I missed an interesting chat. ;)
im going to go eat lucke, this day cant get any more boring here.
welcome back smooth - you sure did!
is a man's view on the subject any different from our general girlies view/
?
What a variety of media on that page, Ata! I like to dabble in many media, but I don't consider much of them fit for showing to strangers! I especially like the rudbeckia (predictably). thanks for passing along the link.
ata, on which poiint? the cremation?
interesting question ata...
I thought you'd like a look at that!
let's go for all subjects :) cremation, gay lovers, anything else you feel like telling us about!
HA! I'm sure different men have different views, as well as different women. lol
I reckon all rites for the dead are for the benefit of the living. So I tell my husband if I die first he can do whatever makes him feel better.
I agree, Vicuna
You mean you're not willing to speak for half of all humanity, smooth?
There is a wise man
in my family, no one has really had any after death requests. I mean... no one even really prefers burial over cremation or visa versa. We've always thought that since we'll be dead, we won't care a whole lot.
my father in law didn't want anything but he was the mayor here for years and always in politics, so we did something more for everyone else.
My family is threatening to cremate me and put me by the washing machine so I feel like I never left!!
oh, I'd love the opportunity vicuna. ;)
smooth - don't be chicken! spill it!
lol
cremation? i'm having trouble finding it in the grid LOL
HA!
eeeeeeww speedfreak!
go for it LOL we'll sit and listen raptly!
haha speed.
Well better to cremate you before putting you by the washing machine than, say mummifying you first!
double ew Vic!
that's it! that's what I want them to do to me... mummify me!
And if you play Babble long enough, they won't even have to take your brains out through your nose first!
brains sucked out through the nose? no thanks!!
great minds think alike, Vi!
A little knowledge of mummification is a dangerous thing!
maybe... if there are any glaciers left, they could hide me in one, to be found a 1000 years from now. ;)
I just harken back to the days of "the worms crawl in...the worms crawl out" and KNOW that I will be creamated!
*cremated*
and I'm completely the opposite! I *hate* the idea of cremation and demand to be buried! Its the biologist in me or something
"The worms play penuchle on your snout!"
(If that's how to spell "penuchle." I have no idea!)
angela I'm with you the thought of all those bugs eating away at me I would rather be burned
it's just such an ishy thought!! *shudder*
pinochle ..
thank you Tof
*Tor* Sorry, can't spell today
I don't mind the bugs. Everyone has to eat! But burials do clutter up the landscape, and I'm such an indifferent housekeeper now that I'd just as soon be tidy for eternity.
s'ok . .
clue for the last ba 6/24 please
There is definitely a lot of prime real estate wasted on the dead
My last ba6/24 is what gets baked into a cake, but I could be missing one or more.
thanks
Back for my missing last word.
The trappings and traditions of the dead are more for the living. My instructions upon my death are to be cremated with no ceremony performed and no final resting place. I would like my ashes deposited with new growth, hopefully to help it make its to strong and healthy.
ba6/24 cook it around your fish
But graveyards are so interesting....
hello, does anyone have a clue for et 6? Thank you>
good for you babble.
they are, Haz. and beautiful too (sometimes)
But Rabble, what if the living want to do something else when you die?
well done babble a good drop of organic bone meal
et6 - put an negative word into the following et4/5
yeah, but the builder side of me loves a lovely rolling hill with a nice view. tell me, why on earth do most cemetaries HAVE a view anyway??
That's true, Haz. Maybe it's selfish not to have a fancy tomb that other people will get to explore later!
I have chosen a representative that will honor my wishes.
ty haz!
You're welcome!
My point, Rabble, is that if you're dead, and trappings are, as you say, for the living, why should your wishes be honored over those of the living?
Because you can't rely on the living to have good taste.....
Because it is my life and my body
*looks across the court for BabbleRabble's rebuttal*
lol Haz!
lol Haz
and we have fireworks!
How did this discussion start, by the way?
okay you guys make me nervous w/all this talk of death and such. I'M NOT GOING!
If the Victorians didn't have such bad taste, many graveyards wouldn't be nearly so interesting!
Well done smooth!
WTG pappa!
Congrats Smooth!
You tell 'em, gramma! Let's see what a little willpower can do!
i dunno haz, I was in the shower
yay smooth!!
Yay for smooth!
OB6? please
can't say Haz...might have been me....
*slowly climbing the village elder list*
probably my fault, I think
I don't think I've ever looked at the list actually...
Gramma: OB + Sherlock holmes was a de****ive
ob6/27 - when a lawyer says, "I ob6!" but change the consonant after the b.
TY
hey all
G'd morning kthdsn
hiya kthdsn
Howdy Kate
hi kate!
clue for the ob 7 please?
ooops never mind it's a 6! got it.
I'm feeling really crappy again today
look down the log at Vicunas clue
sorry to hear that Kate :
Hi all, could I get a clue for the first ba7,36? Thks.
John the BA****** minus the following consonant
I don't think he's going to be able to get me this damned money, and without money I'm stuck here. My dad says I can't go stay with them unless I have some money to arrive with and I've paid my debts off here. I guess I know he's right, it wouldn't work if I arrived with nothing, but I don't know how the hell I'm meant to manage here either, I feel totally stuck
BA 7 + baseball *** + it ** what it ** + ** he (laugh)
strider... castro overthrew BA*****, but change the last letter to the 2nd vowel
Thanks smooth. Got it.
I hate that feeling kate... my circumstances aren't the same, but I completely know and understand that feeling of being trapped, and not being able to afford to get out.
I know that I have rebathed my dog. Rebathe isn't a word? Bah!
Okay, I must have used all my limited brain space earlier. My last word, the 2nd st5/10 please?
tx, gramma, nice clue
st5/10 - the ever useful heart device
first ba 7/36 anyone?
wow! I just found a charity that has got a really cool approach... I don't know if anyone here is into charity, though
Evening - how is everyone?
Kinda depends what they're trying to do, doesn't it, smooth?
Kateq - it was clued not long ago, if you scroll down a little.
I can't afford to help myself never mind a charity
kateq, juck my post just a couople minutes ago
G'd evening matty.
you can donate animals or partial shares of an animal to families... like a cow for milk, or sheep for wool, etc.
Heifer Project? Yes, a very cool charity.
Haz, that went over my head so closely, I got a haircut....... LOL
Heifer PRoject?
Yes, my daughter asked to do that for her Christmas present, as did my in-laws
Sorry Lori - I'll try again - s plus the canvas dwelling
jeez... you all know it already? lol
Yea! Thank ye Haz. Forgive my ignorance. I just wasn't seeing it. Sorry about that.
Smooth - lots of charities are doing things like that. My daughter bought veterinary care for a goat on behalf of her father (a vet) and textbooks on behalf of her aunt and sister (teachers)
my sister did a couple on mine and my husband's behalf last year for Christmas
Glad you got there Lori!
I am done. 192 words.
I gave an allotment to the developing world to my gardening mad sister-in-law and her husband. Beats shopping for someone who has everything they want
We gave our kids shares of rabbits to go with the little rabbit stuffed animals they got.
Could I please have a clue for the first t/5/12, between? It's my last one and it's driving me nuts...
Haz, I tell ya', I'm a million shades of red.......
Well done Lori!!
TY! swore I tried that earlier!
*shudder* rabbits? ew...
Sounds like you might need one of those cardiac devices, Lori.....
te5/12 - shortened form of private eye, then baby thanks.
Angela, I understood "ew" for worms playing pinochle on your snout, but what's "ew" about rabbits?
Throw in a little sumpin' for the brain, and I'll take that deal Haz!
SH7/40? please
sh7/40 -illegal Irish drinking den. (The very idea!)
evil little creatures... my own issues though - got bit
sh = not a he but a ** + a has **** actor
Thanks Haz!! Fireworks finally...
hi guys, hope you all had a good xmas? can anyone help with ro5/10 - it's driving me nuts!!!!
It's constructed with a female pronoun and a vegetable sound alike verb form of 'to be'
What the heck does THAT mean, Lori?
Congrats jan!
Good god - there's an 11...
you have the plural of ro4/4 sugar?
yayayayaya Jan!
ro5/10 - used with violin strings etc, ro plus biblical wrongdoing.
clue for the 1st br please?
OHHHH of course. What was I thinking ? I use that word all the time. TY
yes Inge, it's the other one that I need, tx
matty, the fact that I omitted a *, or the word......? (I better give up, and not give clues)
Ro/5 is a sticky substance that violinists use on their strings, I think. It is spelled rather like the word for pine tar.
br6 - the air you need to live
Well, that still sounds more like an "aargh" than an "ew," Angela! But then you'll be pleased to consider that the shares of rabbits for Heifer Preject will assuredly be bitten in their turn!
ro5/10: what you put on your violin bow
tx all, need to think about it..........
ty haz - guess i forgot to br*****!
Don't forget the following br7/40 words.
makes me feel better Vi - thanks! It's their eyes and I always feel like they're looking at me like a cocktail wiener or something.
like the word for hardened pine sap, sugar, with a different first vowel
Just looked up the sh/7/40--it's a Scottish word for a house where whiskey is illegally sold. So, that'll be fun to work into casual conversation today..,
Got it ! Thanks for your help everyone! Fireworks for me.
LOL sugar!
Congrats sugar!
Congratulations sugar!
congrats, sugar!
all right... time to run off... have a good day all!
LOL jan, I should have said...
bye smooth! have a great one!
Have a good one smooth!
yay sugar
bye pappa! hi all!
((((((stid)))))))
Bye, smooth. Yay for sugar.
Hello stidmama!
Hello, stidmama.
YAY Jan, YAY sugar!
I got to halfway (the 11's not hard, it's the 10 that precedes it that was the killer) last night.
LOL Stid. I don't have anything longer than a 7 at the moment....
go matty go! :-)
stid, hi :)
someday, I think I will go in numerical order ... all the 4s first, then the 5s.... but not today!
matty - obese people in denial blame water re10 for their problems.
hi Inge2!
although in my case, Haz, it's true! (at least this time of the month)
Wow ty for that word Haz
jan - interesting (the whisky house word) - I've heard it used (and been to one) outside Cape Town. Maybe by way of dutch/afrikaans?
Oooh - thanks Stid - got the 10 (and one of the 9s) now, thanks to you!
You're hardly obese, anyway, stidmama!
You hardly qualify for the obese label, though, stidmama!
good afternoon!
not anymore, Vi -- but it took a long time to lose the 60 pounds I gained with the younger child...
Good afternoon, featherbee!
hi feather! ignore weight gain on previous post... it won't happen to you!
lol
that's ok, i'm starting out lighter than when i did with daniel, so i have room to spare right now. thank goodness! ;)
For me it was not the weight that was the problem, it's the shape!
how's the grid?
It's a nice grid today.
*grin* but vi! alpaca are supposed to be that shape!
I still blame the weight on the pregnancies even though my boys are 18 and 20!!!
not horrible yet feather, I am halfway
I'm dieting - lost three pounds the week before Xmas - I dread to think of what it is now, though.
if i keep eating a second breakfast to keep the morning sickness at bay, i'm going to be in real trouble....i'm hoping this will ease off in a few weeks!
wow matty -- why dieting? I gave up dieting and now just try to focus on "lightweight" foods...
1st ta 5?
feather, I ate little bits throughout the day with both, but my illness lasted the whole time with them, no "first three months" limit! which explains some of the weight gain.
ta5 - ta plus the first part of muppet Ernie's friend
TA7? please.
gotta run some errands...bbl
like the 2nd but with a different final vowel, Enomis
I put on loads of weight - around 3 stone - when I have up smoking. Actually, it was already creeping on, but accellerated - I went from 9 1/2 stone to over 12 1/2.
ta7 - extend the second ta5/14 with the little alien
see you later Angela
TA5 is ta + Milton ***le
(A stone is 14 pounds)
gramma the ta7 and 8 build on the 2nd ta5/14: small drum
ty
TY
thanks haz! i'm dense today and can't see the he8,10 nor the 11. related? clues?
haha, Hax, the little alien
doug's having fun torturing daniel
*Haz
*peeks into feather's house* what is doing? tickling?
daniel's yelling at him for coming into the kitchen (don't know why), so doug's standing in the doorway, putting one foot in and out. now he's got daniel laughing though, by dancing in and out of the doorway!
Hello smaller - if you have the he4/7 (garden plant) add the art gallery in London, or the Jodie Foster Little Man. for he8/55
oh boy... daniel's learning the power of slapstick. watch out, world!
Once you have the he8 - take off the last vowel and replace with a charged particle. Plural for he11/112
and now they're off chasing each other. lol
ty ty ty ty ty ty ty
no one can see them without clues today smaller. And if the art gallery is a mystery you can try he**-jeebees (but with just a single E in each place, and add Grand Central S******
what fun, feather! I miss those moments... but last night we could all sit down for a complicated game together, and those are good times, too.
You're welcome, smaller.
i'm working on the first he7, the plant one...
Inge2 -- brilliant clue!
Inge, great clues - thanks!
the long he words are all about the plant, feather
oh, duh. my brain transposed the 4/7 to mean a 7 letter word. no wonder it seemed hard!
sounds like someone with a cold saying "don't hesi**** to call me"
Can someone help me with the two Fs I'm missing from the 1st column? I have the supporters, the Egyptian kings, the deer
*hits feather upside head with pillow...* does that help, friend?
i was in the ta** in 1971
lol, yup! got up to the 11 now!
hello chj! are you well? missed seeing you the last couple days.
as well as the british
fa4/7 and fa5/16 - the supporter gains a vowel and plural
Oh come on now. I know if I tell my husband to meet me at 9:30, he'll show up around tenish. I swear it's a word.
ive been under the weather
maybe it's tennish? lol
oh, thanks Haz!

It's late no matter how you spell it
You're welcome Inge2.

Magical Trevor 3 Magical Trevor is here for the day, we all love him, its safe to say. It's 12 PM so he starts with a thriller, he's gonna do tricks with a chinchilla. Covers it up with his magical cloak, gets out some petrol and gives it a soak. Look out kids, he's playing with matches, he better be careful in case that cloak catches on fire. Oh no, the cloak is on fire. Its turning to ashes with our furry friend, when will this horror finally end? Oh look its okay well that was amazin', the chinchilla's just fine but now its turned into a raisin. Shame no one's watching, put this in you journal. Dear Diary, chinchillas sure are nocturnal. There should be some method of getting rid of tardy visitors so that you can get back to the grid. We were tickled to learn that Empress Maria Theresa chose her candles on the basis of how long an evening she wanted to spend with her guests. Long candles for friends, shorter candles for politicians. When the light goes, you have to go....

pam, hello!
nothing official happens in here LOL
do you need the he 10? it builds off the he 4 that is a plant from new zealand/goddess of spring
hi, stid
take the he 4 + ta 4 ("little man") to make he 8 which is a verby word, then nounify it for the 10...
nat, go ahead, didn't mean to stop you from spilling
Yes, I need the 10,. but I wouldn't know a plant from new zealand if i tripped overit, LOL
oh, it's a pretty short story....Christmas morning in a text message
that just sucks, nat
um, Nat -- is this personal and should I get the kleenex and a big pot of fortified tea?
{{{Nat}}}
oh, sorry nat... not nice!
yeah, no good on that one
Hi everyone. Just quietly pottering away here on grid.

he4/7 + United N*****s
good stragety, Angb!
still, there's no way to predict a text message break up.... so sorry, Nat
Oh no Nat - you have broken up over babble? That's dedication.
I think it went deeper than that, right Nat? babble was just another symptom...
sorry, pam i clued that worng.. he4/7 + cross letter + United N*****s
I hand nat a hanky and my size ten still cap boot to kick him in the butt, thats so rude. HUGGLES

what does the other 10 start with
Dorens, when my kids say they can't find anything to do, they say "I'm b***d"

natasha, they will come back
uh, that's ok stid, it wouldn't be the same. I appreciate the thought
When are they due back at your house?
!! don't they always? enjoy your solitude
YEs it was Une thank you it was killing my brain. I loved it and threeshold but our tv always buggers up things i like
yep, Pam a boy and a girl. We live two hours apart so I only have them on weekends. I'll get them again on the 5th.
*puts suitcases back, takes jackets off boys* okay Natasha... maybe next time. I do miss my kids when they're not here.
:-D
hugs the uune i was going to do my brain in trying to figure it out
That must feel like forever for you... sorry....
dorens, you're right--if they were here I'd probably be asking them if they could be just a teensy bit quieter!
LOL!!
that's an awful long time Natasha -- {{{hugs}}} would it help if you went and looked at their room/s and then remembered how your living room and kitchen look when they're home?
it would, if only my living room and kitchen didn't look like it does when they are here!
It will take me a day to get my house to rights after the two weeks' vacation!
Une i have to get everything i like on dvd as tv is bad. Hey Natasha you miss them when there not there and you wish quiet when they are there
I'm actually fine, just missing them a bit. thanks for the kind words everyone.
i can't iimagine how I would have babbled if it existed when my kids were that age.... My hats off to you young ones with kids at home who have to cook meals and deal with kids and still get to the grid? don't know how you do it

hi nonnie
Gwen there is a series called Invasion that the creature looks like a mutant salamanda that bites or electrocutes people
clue for the an 6 please
hmmmm, sounds very gross, but in a good way LOL
It is the only description i could think of
an 6 is what happens when you are baptized -- with oil or water
when you don't have cable you have more time for addictive online word games 8-)
did you get the we5 aknitter?
nope gramm i need the very first we
Thanks ak, Gwen i try to get most things on dvd as tv stuff the series up too much and it makes me cranky
Any clues for ta7,36 and ta8,50 please?
we5 andrew lloyd we*** as per Gwen ( :
ty gramm appreciate that
Or the We bbq
webq sounds funny
anyone have the we7,48 ?? plz & ty
right lady ty
i have to go again..... take care all, and have a good night.
we 7 is sort of damp-ish
Does every were else have that name bbq or is it an aus thing?
the ta 7 and 8 are like a caba*** singer in vegas, built off the 5 before it and plural
no it's here too lady
the first we is what the good part of the internet is world wide *** plus a 2-letter common ending "one who does"
bbq in massachusetts herin

Thanks gramma

i don't get the ta 7 + 8 clues :(
go gwen go!
yw pms
I just got a phone call from my mum to tell me they caught the kids that vandalised the house they are helping to renovate
oh just figured them out
another clue for the ta 7 & 8 would be take the ta5/14 and add the re4/4
oh good
that's sad lady, I hate when kids do stuff like that
they kicked in the door and a wall my dad had just stucoed and picked up 2 cans of paint one that was new and one half full and throw them down the street
THe think that really upsets my dad is its senseless vandalisim and he has helped with the Juvenile Justice Department to help kids in trouble
unattended children do things like that...I know, I raised 9 of them lol
THats a lot of kids Gramm
sure it is senseless
Um can i ask how old were you with the first one? What are the kids ages? I am curious as i kill goldfish
2 of them are in prison for life (foster kids), but most of the troubles happened after they left my home, still sad tho
et 6 please
oh lol lady, I was 17 when first was born, had 3 by 20, one at 24 then fostered 5 others
Oh thats sad, sometimes kids dont get given a chance despite a good hand up. Wow 5 fosters thats awesome. I am adopted so i look up to people like you that help kids in need
take the 4/5 chop off the plural and add opp of off aknitter
SOrry ak im on the bs here
yes but we do what we can lady
ty gramma
oops I should not clue and chat at the same time
opp of yesses aknitter
I don't want kids as i kill goldfish, i am nearly 30 and have no inclination to have kids, mayby a dog or 3 or a cat or 3
actually gramma i got it from your first clue once you pointed me in the right direction
lol lady, I have grand pets, I don't handle pets dying well so I don't have my own
oh good to hear aknitter
My b/fs brotherwas adopted at 12 and the poor guy is having a hard time dealing with his messed up childhood
aww that's so sad lady
ro 7 please
My girlfriend sent me this messed up link up animals at the pound and its all sad and stuff, but it makes you realise a pet is for as long as it lives
like a male chicken dorens but change the second vowel
for sure lady
thanks grammateri
yw dorens
Hey at least i can say i came with a 30 day warrentee its true i have seen the hospital papers

hi nonie
ti5,10 please
ok -- hate to do this but am losing my mind. the final st 5/10--and it is my final word--but it is totally eluding me no matter what I try!
hello herin, how are you this evening?
add a vowel to the 4/4 above it, lazaro
doreens, you need that word that sounds like a medical tube in your artery. rhymes with the giant tree beings in Lord of the Rings
ah.ty Dorens
thanks BDG... that was it and i have no idea why i didn't try that!!! am done now. thanks
I'm baaaaaack

oh, and welcome back, natasha
Noonie i had my brain escape out of my nose this morning
yes hereinfernallady they do
YAY, Dorens!
infernal, that sounds painful LOL
thanks all... i need to step away from the computer.. good nite... see you tomorrow
You'll have to explain the brain escaping out of the nose thing, herin!??? was it a sneeze?
nose bleed annoying but this is what happens when you get sick (and yes im aware of the ewwwww factor)
goodnight dorens
ta 7 and 8 : take the ta 5 that sounds like the sheath for a sword, add a 2-letter ending that means little or diminutive
I call them brain escapes as thats how the ancient egyptians got ones brain out of ones head when they died
ah, nose bleed...sorry to hear that. You know, in my 50 years, I have never ever had a nose bleed.
Dont wish it on anyone
pam, it is a mascarpone cheescake with candied pecans and a dulce de leche sauce
last ba6,24 please
infernal, yes historically accurate but still, ewww! LOL
sounds decadent, natasha
thus i call them brain leeks
nonnie, your mucous membranes are superior 8-)
emmmm natasha, are we invited?
are you entertaining this weekend?
NM, 10 sec rule
last ba 6 is the guy in baseball who is about to hit the ball
ty book doctor gwen
clue for the ba 5 please does the darn ba follow a t as in bat??
no, but a co-worker who has been very nice to me in my short time at my job is having a birthday tomorrow and I wanted to do something nice for her
Thanks, BDG
very nice!!!!
ba 5 has a double consonant and as plural
What do you do?
YW. now, i need just 3 woids -- the 1st te5,12 ??
mmm so its the cross letter then?
I'm the director of customer service for an internet company that sells fine art.
infernal, double cross, yep
ummmm sod
in fact, the art is so fine I can't afford most of it!
natasha, what do you call your CSRs?
is it hard to sell fine art on the web? I mean, selling cookbooks (what I do) is not that hard on the web
he 6-21 please
Gwen, I am a CSR and wonder what other title I could have?
thats sounds like a cool job
customer service reps at this point, gwen. I don't really like the term as they do so much more
pam, it can be as some people really want to see it in person. however, we have a great catalog and we work with hundreds of nationally known artists.
1st th5,16 ??
te + a movie dire**or+ 1st vowel
pam, some companies have funny names for their CSRs, like, i dunno, "public satisfaction team member" or whatever
t + he4,7
ooh ooh, TY bubba!
that makse sense, natasha... catalog is everything...
t+ he,4
laz, TY!!
See, that's what I mean, Gwen. And, I am not a "guest" when I am shopping. When the cashier, or salesperson asks for the "next guest" I just want to yack
(adding word to list)
it never fails to amaze me how easily people will drop thousands of dollars on one order--one woman bought $9,000 of ornaments this year.
th5,12 please
how isn't that t+h4.7 not a proper noun?
greek letter th***
Wow, natasha!
! * F * I * R * E * W * O * R * D * S * !
hooray gwen!
yay, gwen!
Yah Gwen
congrats, Gwen!
WTG!!!!!!!!!!BDG
yay Gwen
go, gwen!!!!!
well done!!!!
Natasha i used to work in Guchi and it suprised me that people used to spend that amount on one bag
i used to work at a place where i wasn a team member -- you were absolutely forbidden to say "employee" (what a joke!)
so who needs a clue from this "non team member" LOL
yeah, it really is a different world for some people, lady
that is preposterous, gwen, I am sorry...
some people just like to spend it, I guess. LOL
its scarry that they would spend that sort of money on a bag
bubba, don't know any greek?? any other clue?
pam, yup. spare me ever working for a nitwit corporation ever again!!
I took a 2.000 dollar cookbook order this year, LOL
lol Gwen you are playing like a team member ( :
LOL, I'll drink to that, Gwen
I worked at a place where we were all valued colleagues
What was the book coverd in gold?
wow, thats a lot of cookbooks!
bloady hell thats a lot
th + alien who phones home + 1st vowel
yup, it was and she was very nice!!!!
valued colleague? sounds like an excuse to never give you a raise LOL
valued colleagues? iugh....
you said it gwen!
TY bubba. got it!
yw
so, how many books werein this cookbook order?
I guess I like the "simple" words like employee, shopper, customer....
sometimes I think I should go back to being a therapist
so, i'm not *employed* here, but i'm on the "team." is that why you treat me like dung?
to counsel the fools who dream up these titles, natasha?
(is what i would have said to the owner if i had the guts)
LOL, gwen!
lol
maybe you were on the mule team, gwen. did they ever specify?
Do you now work for yourself selling books, Gwen?
Sounds like there is a little bit of corporate bitterness tonite
lol bubba
lol, bubba
customer -- what's wrong with that? "they aren't customers, they're guests" my ass!
second st 5/10?
pam, hell yes. thanks for asking 8-)
Natasha isn't that what most crs' aren anyway ( :
smart you., gwen!
What they use to keep arteries open, st***
second st 5/10 rhymes with giant trtee beings in Lord of the Rings
what you put in a brain to relieve pressure evan
st + trees in the lord of the rings
clue for the be 4 6 after the 4 9 please
trtee = tree
woo hoo...thanks ya'll
:-D
hi, nut!
hiya pammy poo
infernal, be 4 6 after the 4 9 is a common word that has been mentioned in this chat a zillin times
is that the moo cow one ???
or past tense of to be?
i meant the red vegi thing that stains
infernal, question does not compute. however when i said it has been mentioned, i mentioned it
ta i mised that top n
lol gwen
how does a moo cow relate to the red vegi thing that stains???? (cross-eyed look)
i ment i have the moo cow 4 9 and the red vegi thing that stains its the inbetween one i needed which i now have
oh, duh.
A cow is a steak, a milkshake and a leather jacket all in one
actuall, most be4/9 comes from steers, not cows
be** is also red meat and be** is red veggie?
. . . or so i have heard
and possibly a best friend if one is very lonely
meh the taste good and look good
lol bubba you kill me
clue for the 11 letter word please
bubba, where you goin' with that? LOL
No place, I live north of the mason-dixon line
foflol
chris, take the brand name for plastic hamster tubes and end up with the 4-letter ending that makes a noun out of a verb
no deieverance movies for bubba
chris, not a perfect clue since the 1st 2 letters are he, not ha, but it sounds almost the same
sorry dont have hamsters so dont know that name lol
happy cows come from wisconsin anyway (I love those commercials)
Whgere men are men and cows are very afraid
(ignoring the sweeping generalization put for by bubba) LOL
lol
clue for the br 7 please
does anyone have the first te,5
me too, since I live SOUTH of the mason dixon :)
chris, have you heard of charity that builds houses? Pres. Carter is one of their volunteers? start with that word
br7, is what you do to get air in your lungs
i mean the first te5,12
add 2nd vowel to one before lkady
all the BR words involve respiration
oops lady
yes
i got the air one its the other one
first te5,12, think shifting land masses, but end with a 2nd most common vowel
tewe
oops
plural the 6 then lady
he 4/8 ends with "to ** or not to **" -- the he10 and he11 build from there
like a br***** of fresh air
(oh, and the he8 does too)
or br***** mints
ty gwen for the 11
nonnie, YVW
or halitosis hiders
like tic tacs bubba?
i have the air one its the other one i need not the plural 6
or cows smell bad so I had to hold my br*****
shifting land mass???
lol babblerabble
there are 2 br 7s lady
cape, there are 15 or so land masses, continents and whatnot, which are continually moving: they are called ~ plates (just the first 5 letters)
a geological reference involvling china
te + movie dire**or + 1st vowel
i know that but ihave the pural 6 to hold my br cause i farted but its the otehrone
oh i see it now fish please
infernal, the BRs all being with same 6 letters. one is plural, one is verb
oh lol lady
I feel stupid for asking this, but I cannot figure out the be 5 after the japanese fighting fish
(smack!) LOL
spez i am
thanks bubba
ok i have the jimmy carter thing but i can get the ending for that to make it 11
be 5/14 (the last one) IS the fighting fish...
chris, bronchitis is an inflam***** of the lungs
Natasha -- just double the last consonant
add that to the he4/7
I have that one, so I'm confused not sure what I'm missing
(would help but don't know what the fighting fish is and there are a ton of BEs)
got it ty
1/2 way done
go NatLT!
congrats on halfway mark, natlT!
Lickety says there is a 5/14 after the red vegetable and the old type of video tape: be** max. That's what I need, I think.
question.... are the he 10 and 11 related to the 8?
nat, yes.
the other BE 5 words are plurals, Natasha!
thats it im shaving my girlfriends dog darn thing got more hair in my eye again
yes Nat! "nounify" it!
fighting fish -- be 5/14 -- to be* the farm and part of ttfn
notice on the right and on the bottom is that very handy word ending, as in Positrac****
ewww, dog hair in the eye!
i ams tuck on the o's all of them any clues
thanks, I was worried I wouldn't get those
chris: ob + archi**** (house designer)
