i'm sorry for your loss helen... so young. the website has some touching responses to his life
hi again jilli
kier - thank you & thanks for looking at the website - he offered so much to so many, sigh
one day I'll try finca and it'll work
had he had any health issues earlier? or ifyou don't want to discuss that is fine, too... one of the profs in my department had a massive heart attack and died Dec 8. He was 62. His funeral was quite a celebration of his life adn had great and fun music (he had been a dJ in the 60's)
hoho should be a word, especially since tsks and brrs are words.
especially as haha is a word!
er7
have to go out for a bit, i'll see you all later!
he had 'an episode' about 4 years ago, trouble breathing, light-headed, spent 3 days in the hosp for testing, but they couldn't figure out exactly what happened - since then lost a bunch of wieght & gotup at 5:30 to work out, watched what he ate, was in great shape
co7, ca7
g'nite fran!
bye fran

How random ... You're in my thoughts, hk . . .
kier - i'm sorry for your loss - 62 to also too soon
((( tor )))
Hi everyone!!
hi voll
glad to see you flag, tor!
your
Buenos dias ...
volley, that's a funny scene from your back yard!
At home, I'm on IE ..So I went to a country that has a flag ...
LOL...oops changed my pic and not my bio ty for noticing
what does IE have to do with the flag, tor?
in keeping with my decision to celebrate pretty much any holiday coming along... here's my Kwanzaa themed icon
I wondered the same thing jilli
thx helen... (i was on the phone just now)
i wondered that too :)
really nice icon and write-up, metal
kier - i used the very same icon when the theme was 'blue'
The country names that don't have a flag don't show up on IE sometimes ..
i like the moon =)
Clues are up! Enjoy!
Do they show up anywhere else, tor?
Moons are good ...
many thanks, Lickety!!!
The name shows up in Firefox ...
thanx, lickety!
TY Lickety
I have Netscape 7.2 as well as IE -- must see if they do there too
Lickety -- You are, have been, and will be -- Da man!
but at present there's nobody here flagless
ty Lickety
I've changed my country to one of the ones I've visited, but has no flag in the Babble database>> What do you see?
blank here in IE -- will go to Netscape -- brb
Azerbaijan
aha -- here in Netscape it says Azerbaijan!
This is what I'm saying --- In Firefox, the name of the country shows up -- In IE, it's blank ..
th 7
Ve-e-r-r-ry inter-esting...
By the way, Baku sucks on toast ..
Well, Firefox and Netscape are relate, yesno?
i.e. says countryu is azerbaijan
25 words
haha found an sh 4/5.....something you do in the bathroom
We ran into some Iranian students who said they hated Baku . . .When Iranians hate your country, your country stinks ...4
but bj, it doesn't say so right where the flag belongs - you have to put the cursor over the blank flag space
30 words
Guess i'm missing sometheing here. That's what I get for jumping into the middle of a comversation. I get the tooltip with the country name if i hover over the flag, blank or not. I don't see a country name anywhere else except in the profile itself.
As for firefox, I gave up on that a while ago when it started barfing on the chat log history.
tor pointed out that with Firefox (and I found also with Netscape) that the name of the country which has no flag appears where the flag would be without having to hover over a blank rectangle
G'noght all -- I am falling asleep at the keyboard and not really chatting so I am gonna go to bed -- see you soon {{**Hugs to all**}}
Ah, since I'm using i.e. I won't see it. Wonder which one is bugged ;)

GM JMann
Good morning Frances, Iain and JMann.
how is the grid today?
Hi Haz Any rain today? I think that was a clearing up shower (all day and all night). Beautiful day today - blue skies.
We had very stormy weather last night, and now it has calmed down beautifully. No blue skies though!
Just seen on the news that Saddam has been executed
Really? That was sooner than expected, wasn't it?
We had strong winds and rain at 3 a m but like you Haz it is now calm
thats ALL thats on the news.has nothing else been going on today?
i think that they had 30 days to do it - his lawyer tried to appeal it, but apparently he wanted nothing to do with an appeal
We're getting an all round thrashing by the Aussies in the cricket.
Rod Stewart is in New Year Honours list if you count that as newas
Dear goodness, what have they given him?
Love his Great American Songbook series
When will they start giving honours to those that have earnt it
Yes, but is it the songs or the singer?
nothing much I hope!
frances...im gonna be wearing white to school after the sydney btest
Hello everyone
hello lynxxx
Hello lynxxx!
hey lynxx
Mornong lynxx
Rod Stewart CBE Zara Phillips MBE James Dyson is now Sir James
must go teh 'boss' calls
Good grief.
LOL rolin. I do despair about the cricket but Warnie is something else. Perhaps with him and McGrath retiring we may have a chance!
who is the last person?
Makes Vacuum cleaners
James Dyson, inventor of a vacuum cleaner.
frances..i was talking to my son..and he said that when they do go..it will finally give a chance to some young rising stars,,,so,...dont getcha hopes up..lol
OK - !!
New Year Honours I really like - Among the less well-known people to be recognised are John Grey, 80, a shoeshiner for Virgin Atlantic airline customers at Heathrow, former East Lothian milkman George Beal and Norfolk teaching assistant Susan Wade, who all become MBEs.
He's 80 and still working? The shoe-shine man?
a shoe shiner....how wonderful...for real services rendered
hey haz...my mums 92 and she works 3 days a week and does a shift on a sunday from 10am to 7pm
Good gracious, where does she work?
she runs a charity shop to raise money for the asthma foundation
and the sunday shift is at a hospital kiosk...
morning all
Good for her! It sounds as though she's a very special lady.
What a star rolin!
she cant understand why people chastise her for climbing step ladders to get things down from shelves
Good morning, sprite!
I had an aunt who worked providing meals for "old" people - she was 86!
yeah..shes an amazing woman
well, she puts me to shame. She muust be a special person Rolin - aside from being your Mum
Hi Sprite!
well its only since shes turned 90 that shes slowed down in her walking for othe ppl to keep up..lol
how's the grid today?
hey sprite...for me..tricky..
Tuff
hi everyone
hi Andree
have you all got grand plans for tomorrow night, new years eve
hello Andree - havent seen you lately - how was your Xmas
I'll be watching firework with dog (he loves them) champers in hand.
We have a good friend over, we lost a mutual friend this year, it will be enough to share the family warmth and support each other through this last festive day. Peace and quiet is what we go for.
lovely thankx lynxxx, my daughter did the honours this year, first time I got a break since I took over from my mother in law over 30 years ago
LOL - its the only time my dog will set on my lap - he's ppetrified of the noise!
Ours loves them. He drags me outside to watch
I think most pets are scared of the noise
That's pretty amazing for a dog, Frances!
OK think its time to hit Lickety - 111 down but not seeing anything new
my son and family arrived today from living overseas for 13 years, we are allvery excited to have them here to live again
sprite, he's a deep chocolate brown weimaraner/Hungarian Vizla cross and is the most affectionate dog I know. He is wonderful but given the chance he would run all day - and I do mean all day. He gets walked for about four hours a day - minimum.
their dog will see the freworks at quarantine station, should have a million dollar view, lol
Wow Andree - that will be great for you. Where have they been living? Have you seen them during those years?
Sounds like a great dog, Frances! Can't he be in your icon one day? Would love to see him. I am happy for you, Andree - must be wonderful to have them close again.
I'll see if I can dig out my favourite pic
new york, then Singapore then back to Aus for a year then japan then Singapore again, 3 kids all born in Singapore, I have visited at least twice a year and they come home twice a year
They have certaily got around!
dh5/14 and dh6/24
How on earth can there be 8s and 9s in THIS grid? I have trouble finding 7s!
I am having trouble finding 4's, sprite
dh 5/14 is a loin cloth and 6/24 is plural
Yeah, that too, Andree, lol.
both do6/21's please
I have 'more fond of'. No other yet.
thx sprite
also need the 2x do5/12's, not the giver of blood
The other one is to put on (as in clothes), plus men's neckwear, but with the t replaced by the plural letter.
There is the giver in two different guises, one ending in a double vowel
For 5s I have the blood donor - change last 2 letters.
Sprite said a word.....
Oooowwwww..... how incredibly stupid. I am soooo sorry!
Not to worry! Is the double vowel the receiver? It gets me confused..
Also have (she whispered almost inaudible) do5 plural of do4, bit, trifle, or dutch co4.
Haz, it seems the double vowel one is a law word. 1. a person to whom a gift is made. 2. a person who has a power of appointment in property.
Thank you!
thx haz and sprite
sprite dog picture here now
Very handsome!
wow Frances, what a cutie! And yes, it is obvious that he should have lots of exercise, lol.
ok, found one 8/9 combo. Prefix not out + royal seat, past tense is the 9. Desperation has led to a biggie :)
nice dog frances
But that normally would be spelt with en, wouldn't it?
do you want the co8&9?
de6/24 please
Yes it would, Haz, I just looked it up, wondered myself :) Lynxxx... pleassssse! I feel like I am babbling for the very first time, am sooo blind to words.
co + opp of yes + what you might say to a child - **** touch the fire! & plural
its that kind of grid sprite, like pulling teeth
de6/24 - to confuse or mislead someone (noun)
thx haz
de7/36 is the plural
lynxxx, thanks, wonderful clue. Strange words.
Looked up the def of the C: a Paleozoic microfossil occurring in various jagged or toothlike shapes and constituting the hard remains of an extinct marine animal of the order C8a (or C8ophorida), found abundantly worldwide in sedimentary rock. We all knew that, right?
I know it now, but will I still know it tomorrow?
errr yes ! well after some-one earlier clued it!
I will, more or less. I can connect fossil to Mast(same ending as C) the big extinct elephant :D
I have 2 7s, prefix + where the beach is.
And do you have what speaks louder than words? There's also a plural painkiller (or thereabouts)
I have the painkiller. Not the other one yet, I think. I do have the words, lol. Not practise but T6.
Also Co7/32 THE act.
ca7 - the person who takes your money at the store
As8 - flabbergasted, bewildered.
Found the louder than words one, Haz, thanks :)
You're welcome - just found your co7
And the as8 - thanks
yw :) This is really a teamwork grid.
sprite - did you get the misleading de6/24 and de7/36 comb?
Yes, I did, thanks. Also found the Ca from lynxxx, thank you lynxxx :) Slowly getting there.
It's taking a long time to grey any squares......
It is a slow grid, indeed. Also not very rewarding, not many words that make me smile finding them anyway.
TY Haz - I could only think of ducks for a while but did at last find the de...
I'm glad you got there in the end, lynxxx.
I must take a break, the words aren't exactly queuing up to be found. See you later!
I haven't found the de's haz
bye Haz
bye haz
de plus letters that sound like seat
Byeee!
thx haz
good morning babblers we've got a meaty one today
Hi Pin - we have
hi pink
hi everyone!
Hello, sparklygem .... rather quiet here
I've only just started so will get stuck in!
Hi Sparkly & BabbleR
hi all, was afk for a bit. Welcome arrivers :)
welcome sparkle and babble
on7/32 please
on the beach, Andree.
Also has an i and an a variant
like the a6.21 Andree
thx lynxx and sprite
morning sprite
hi pink
fireworks at last, tough one today. Can I help with any clues before I split?
40 left for later, happy babbling
Congrats Sprite! I'm OK
bye Andree
Bye Andree
Ok, I am off then :) See you tomorrow, one more day to let thankfully go of the old to make room for the new - make it a good one, all of you!
bye bye sprite
Bye sprite. I just got here in time to say hello goodbye
does anyone have the dh's? are they a combo?
It looks like today is going to be another day of suffixes.
yes they are sparkly
I clued the dh's earlier - they are a loin cloth and its plural
Can anyone help with co 7/32
co7.32 is coming togeter (usually sexual) - ends in on
Hello Babblers!
Hi Tingy
Hi Merk too!
thanks got the dh's!
TY lynxxx
good morning everybody:)
Hi Jean
hello jean
de 4,5 ... why do the small words stump me?
de 4,5 please
de4.5 - phonetic spelling of to stand upagainst authority or to de**
Isn't that de 4,8?
oh I am soo sorry .. let me try again
phonetic spelling of head of an academic dept
TY Eva - I had a total blank then!
good morning. Just arrived from lurking
I tried that with two different vowel teams and can't get it to work.
teamwork
good Eva:)
lol meant to say good morning Eva
all in the bottom left corner Merk
uses same vowel Merk
Ah, the consonant goes between the vowels. Ty
I've just seen that Santa Claus calling is in the grid. He's a bit late.
does anyone want any help before I go?
the in8 and in9 would be wonderful if you have thme!
that should be *time!
to seat a regent
in + what a king/queen sits on & past tense
thank you!
I'll be off - bye everyone
bye lynxxx:)
Eva, it's snowing again!
Yay! Wonderful to hear gramma! I'm hoping we'll be able to head back tomorrow. Sounds like the driving weather will be wretched on Monday.
Now if you come back and the snow melts and the temperature turns balmy again, we're going to have to talk.
I promise I won't do that!
Good girl 8)
in 7, 8, 9 please. Are they connected?
8 and 9 to seat a king or queen present and past tense
And the 7?
I don't have it yet
ty for the other two. Great!

must away happy babbling everyone bbl:)
bye jean
in + sh 5

There's no knowing the effects of absinthe!
thanks Haz, got the as8
it can make you cut off your ears! and it turns you green
That's good.
well, those biggee puzzles right before Christmas were just too much.. (-:
Yes, I gave those ones a miss.
it may have made it easier to avoid the pull of the gird and not start...
yes, that is exactly why I tried not to look at the grid while hosting ... (really hard to resist the pull, though)..
indeed - I coulnd't help it and spent a lot of the late/early hours playing anyway...
lol, I entered a few words untl my eyes crossed..
im going shopping now but speak to you all later. happy babbling
bye, pink
good for you! there's a bleep in my progamming which says 'I;v started so i'll finish...' It's not very good for sleeping...
bye pink
brb.. coffee time
brb - telephone
:)
Neocon..as in Cheney, Wolfowitz, etc isn't a word yet....I'm sure it will be in time
neocon isn't a work, its a mask to hide the word reactionary!

ac7 - they speak louder than words
ca7 - gives you your change in a shop

de7 - plural noun of trickery
er7 - the wearing away of the god of love
warmonger. nice word for a reactionary (!)

good morning!
thanks for the er7, Haz - nice clue!!
You're welcome!
hi, Charm... good to see you!
Hey, Aloyisius. yes, been quiet lately.
me too, Charm
still need 3 more 7's......i now have ac7, ca7, co7, de7, er7, in7, th7......
great 7 clues... not getting the co7 or the de7
on7 is similar to your in7
ni 5,12 please
co7 - co plus neutral pronoun (two letters) then a charged particle
co7 is a type of painkiller......co4/6+opp of out.....
Haz, do you have the ni 5 yet? I'm stumped.
de7 - plural of de6 - de plus something that sounds like seat.
thanks haz - and movie
Let me have a look, merk.
ni5/12 - female relative
Your brother or sister's daughter to be precise
I thought I tried her.
:D thank you haz!
ty, I must have done a typo. But I started this before 5 AM and have not had my coffee yet.
I NEVER see that word first time around.
Oh, Merk, you are brave! I never try this without my first dose of caffeine.
you know it's addictive when you sit down to play before you get your coffee, or take your allergy pill, or whatever 8-)
ach, how can you babble sans java?
love that th6.27: science talk
care to share aloy? ;)
well, I have a th**** as to why I love Babble: I am just a word nerd
I have one of the no 5, and 6, but am missing the other no 5 and 6. I think it is the last set that I need. Clue please.
still need 1 more 7......i now have ac7, ca7, co7x2, de7, er7, in7, on7, th7......
hi all :) I've just got the co8 and 9! how cool! never imagined I'd see them in the grid!
no5/10 - plural of the seaweed
no6 - an idea, formed with a negative plus a positively charged particle
And now I really must go - am invited out to lunch, so had better make tracks. 13 to go......
ah, yes, of course!!! thanks aloy . I ALWAYS miss that one.

100 words found... must go and have some breakfast... well lunch by now. see you all later!
that's my goal to conX... at 82 now... bye
We have snow on the ground here in Vermont - it looks wonderful and it's not enough to keep me from going to the yarn sale at Joann's Fabrics - gotta run now.

Afternoon peeps - how are we doing today?
Hi, Matty!
Done!
hi matty!
yay, gramma
yay gramma!
Morning Matty, Pam, Temple, Jacula and peeps
hi inge2!
hi, inge2
Can I offer my feeble clues for any1?
Hi matty, inge & anyone else I've missed.
gramma your clues are never feeble!
What's the grid like? Are the 9s weird words or normal ones?
ugh! so many near words today...
Feeble? Hardly, gramma! You got me a word I almost never spot.
yes i'd like the y words not long ago
yes, inquiring minds want to know about how weird the (s are.
* that would be "9s" :)
matty, of course the words are all normal. What kind of game do you think you're playing?
true. I've used that "hebetation" word from last week a number of times already this morning....;-)
and after babbling this long what's "normal"? not sure i would know ; )
normal to .... whom though? :P
Me too, Inge!
though I will admit that the co8/9 are everyday words for me, being a palaeontologist!
TO, play the point value game and you'll see them right off.
oooh, nice clue atalante...off to look
co8/9? *eyes glisten*
I see it's not "coprolites"
10th letter of the Hebrew alphabet
I'm afraid my Hebrew skills are rusty...
*eyes encyclopedic dictionary on bookshelf*
can you please give us the first two and point count?
Did not realize you are a paleontologist, Ata
Co as clued earlier, CO + a 2 letter negative word + a usually contracted not to
nope, not this time! these things could produce microscopic coprolites though I guess. co8/55 and co9.66. they have big teeth
marine biologist / palaeontologist. did my PhD in dead fish.
and you are an artist, too?
YO + 4 more points Go up left and hang a right
Good morning all!!!!
done. clues before I go?
lol, ata
hi Shorty!
yay. charm!
yay charm ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nope - can't find that 9
Hiya Inge2
Hi, shorty
can't find the 8, either...
ty ty
so co8/9 are vertebrates, atalante?
I'm off to play in the real world. See you all on the flip.
Hi Pam Long time no see!

I know, Shorty, I dart in and out at times
'Bye TO & gramma.
Later, TO
bye TO
bye temple
Hiya Jac! :)
ermmmmmm ... maybe Inge2. LOL you've hit on a big debate there. They are microscopic almost vertebrates LOL
Bye OWL!!!!
co8 = opp of pro + opp of even (minus one d) + opp of off + consonant.
Thanks Charm!
yw
Thank you, charm!!!!!!!
ty charm! I couldn't think of a sensible clue!
No oreo? Disgraceful. Mind you, not allowed anyway on diet...
that is a toughie.
aha, thanks. And now I see what you mean about the controversy!
Now that I have it, the earlier clue makes sense, LOLOL
:) they are interesting little beasties
what, there are 2 9s?!
in8 = in + royal chair in9 is past tense.
thanks, charm!
tx, charm
yw
Thanks charm! That leaves one eight to find...
130 found & 44 to go here. Time I went and helped Paul clear the drains of leaves before the predicted heavy rains begin. BBL.
What heavy rains?!
as8 = as*** Martin + past tense (pon*** up the ante)
bye jac.
60-80mph winds & torrential rain predicted for most of UK for next 2 days, matty. Liverpool has already cancelled its NY Eve outdoor fireworks celebration. Birmingham & Manchester set to do likewise.:(
BBL.
it'sbeen nice seeing all of you
I will be back later.
Happy '07 to anyone whom I won't see later on this weekend.
morning all
Bye Pam Happy New Year
Hi, and by feather!!!!
Hi feather. Bye Pam.
a question jac....doesn't the uk use metric? but wind is measured in mph?
I'm off, too. Have to prep for a dinner tonight. Happy babbling and see y'all tomorrow.
oh shoot, i missed her
Bye Pam, Charm. I'm off soon too.
Oh great - how about London?
feather - we use a mixture of metric and imperial, it depends on how old you are but generally people still understand speed as mph be it travel or wind
ahh, gotcha! thanks!
One year (when I was pregnant with my daughter), my mum came over from the States, and offered to cook a roast. She came to me in a panic, exclaiming "what are we going to do - this oven only goes up to 250"!
hehe!
Can anyone clue the ao - probably obvious but not seeing it
i'm not starting off very well here.
ao + joint above your hand w****
TY Inge
yw, and now off to the showers!
grrrrrrrrrr I had my CDs in my car in a specific order that makes no sense to anyone but me, and my husband's friend has just put them all back in the right cases and "organised" them for me! grrrr! its going to take me ages to sort them out again. why do people *fiddle* with other people's things??
woohooo I got the 8's + 9's
serious control issues, atalante -- your husband's friend apparently thinks he knows how you "should" be doing things.
I know! am seriously annoyed! and he expects me to thank him! LOL!
Well hello ATALANTE :)
thank him to keep his hands off your things Atalante
yeah shorty !!
I didn't think you'd speak
ty oldhousejunky
Can anyone clue the final 8 (that doesn't have a related 9)?
I'm going to flounce off and fix things and make sure he knows exactly how displeased I am with the whole matter! nothing like a bit of melodramatics to liven up an afternoon *grin*
you go girl!
old word for surprised / amazed etc, matty
Hi everyone!
hello fellow babblers
The in's have me mystified - I have the 1st and last but nothing in between
in + royal chair and plural
in4 and plural == Peruvian money, basic unit
Have just found in 8 & 9 - thanks anyway
TY ch1212
my last word is surely fishworthy, but I cant figure it out: I need sh4/5 between the coast and dead per bullet, any help? I will dedicate my fireworks to you.

hi mattuy
*matty
matty I see a lovely dragon
Hi matty. I'll talk to you
matty, are you there>???

Sorry - everything just froze on me!
Is it frozen again?
now that Matty is safe again, I am off to read my email, etc
Right - now as to that eight?
do you need the as 8? meaning surprised in an old fashiioned word form
i have one 9 which starts with in, what does the other one start with?
That's the one - let's have a look...
th 7/32 and the 6/21 before it are hiding - anyone/
co
thank you
Got it - thanks!
th 6/21 is the god of thunder + 2 vowels, the 7 is plural
oops, duty calls, bbl
TY Inge - thought it was something like that but kept leaving out the a on the end
Damn. It looks like I'll need the list and I'm not even halfway through
melodramatics were fun :) husband's friend knows how unimpressed I was now :)
ata, did he apologize?
no! grrrrrr. but he will .............
Can someone clue the co8 and 9?

if that doesnt work..rearrange his tools for him
lol wyrd
AC6/24, anyone?
Was he just trying to be nice, or making a point about your organizational skills, do you think? Personally I'd love for someone to organize my cds (but don't touch my books, lol!)

he can stay the heck away from me, my organizing husband is pain enough
Hmmm, if there were some way to channel that organizational energy and put it to good use...
on + sh5,12
Thanks Scrabbler
A professional organizer begins by finding out how the client's mind organizes, then goes from there --- NEVER would a P.O. simply organize his/her own way.
od + 3 ltr word meaning a really really long time, then plural

A double whammy, eh? I hope you can get some rest soon and recover. Maybe after the wedding you can go to bed and rest for a couple of days
co = against + vowel + opp of do (contraction word) then plural
Yes, I have the next 2 days off. But I have so much housework to catch up on! I need a maid.
There you go, give yourself a Christmas present and get one for at least one or two times to get caught up
scrabbler, maybe ata can send over her organizer friend
Yes, atalante--send your OCD organizing friend to my house. Does he have a few weeks off?

I'm struggling with this one...
it sure is fun tho, and the chat has been a blast!
there you go... I should have switched the chat on earlier...
I've only just returned after cleaning out rabbit & g/pig hutches. Discovered poor old Joey rabbit has what I think is 'snuffles'. V. serious & contagious. Daughter has taken him to vet's. Awaiting news now...:(
if you get a chance read where ypsi clued me the as7, I almost wet myself laughing so hard
oh dear... poor Joey... :(
awww so sorry Jacula
What sort of time was that grammat?
just not long ago, maybe half an hour
I'll let you know how Joey gets on. He's recovered from a stroke & later on from fly strike. I am hopeful.

yw
hi all
hi Kate!
afternoon kate :)
everything just got a whole lot worse
oh no what?
he's been seeing her for the past couple of weeks and he's leaving to be with her
I kept asking him what was going on and he kept telling me they were just friends and she was helping him out by giving him a break every now and again, I knew I didn't believe him
I wouldn't have cared so much if he had told me the truth, but I'm so hurt that he lied to me so many times
Dear Jesus, we don't know why things like this happen, but I ask that you be with Kate just now, grant her peace, and your strength to get thru this, thank you Father for your grace, amen
I was trying so hard to hold on to him as a friend and it's all blown up in my stupid niave face
yes lying only hurts people worse
I don't think you are stupid, love is very blind darlig
I've never felt so alone
it took me 10 years to be friends with my ex, way to painful at first
don't let this make you think that you're stupid kate...
amen sherb, (((hugs))) kate
good afternoon everybody:)
hi jean
I'm so angry and hurt, I'm trying so hard not to cry, I don't want to sit here alone and crying
crying is healthy and healing kate
I don't want to cry alone, I know I need to cry but i don't have the strength to do it on my own
Go ahead and cry, Kate. Might as well get started before the kids see you. Best to have a good cleansing cry. Best to do it while you're alone so you can really let it all go.
I have run out of strength, I just can't do it any more
I know that anger keeps the crying emotions at bay also, but grieving a lost love is just as crucial as grieving a death
it feels like death
kate- you may be the only one there physically, but you are not alone
I wish I was dead, I wouldn't have to feel it any more
I know that online friends can't really DO anything, but know that people do care
amen leep
that's a normal feeling kate, but you know that would only make matters worse for your family
living well is the best revenge kate
Kthdsn,
Ivanna Trump said: "Don't get mad, get everything!". Been following your story, Kate. Wish there was something left of his that you could get.
KtH please dont qwish something so awful ,think about your 3 little ones ,they need you now more than ever
His idiocy is not your fault...not a reflection on you.
And when you are ready, you may use the phrase my best friend in college and I used after a bad date, bad relationship, etc.
In a word it is
"NEXT!"
so true asculptor
lol
Amen, asculptor!
(Just returned from a 'phone call.) Katie - I know how you feel, I've been through it myself but you MUST hold onto life for yourself, for your children and for your family. I know it all feels hopeless and sh*tty right now but it WILL get better. You can rebuild your life - never doubt it!xx
boy it so doesn't feel that way now, but yep Jacula is right
I just feel dead
kate - Think of someone, a friend or family member that you can call now to support you and have a good cry with, then call them.
dead people don't feel ( : but I know what you mean
You are emotionally exhausted, Kate. And who wouldn't be. You've taken a beating lately.
katie - Your feelings are normal; it's a grieving process.
you know, your body sends chemical signals in response to shock....and gradually reabsorbs them and you begin to feel a little lighter... it will happen!
all I know is I need to get out of here and get to canada
you are stronger than you know.
Are there any faith based organizations (churches, shelters, etc.) that you can turn to, Kate? They might be able to provide some emotional as well as financial support right now. Most types of places have an influx of cash right after the holidays.
Kate, I just was reading your websites. I like the trials you have documented. And your girls! How beautiful! You are going to be OK. My mom and dad divorced and there were 3 of us kids. We are all OK. Both remarried. Things will get better!
I just don't know what to do right now, I know I can manage in the long run, i know I'll pick up the peices somehow, but right this minute I don't know what to do with myself
well my mom passed away in sept and I had a hard christmas... I know what's it like to lose someone youthought you would have for a long time, but you just be and get up and take care of your girls and yourself and stop beating yourself up and try to figure out your next steps.
katie - again, that is a perfectly normal feeling. You feel like a caged animal, not sure whether to pace aimlessly, run about and panic or just roar with pain and frustration. Step back, take a few deep breaths and try to re-centre yourself. Relaxation tapes can help - even bring the healing tears you so desperately need.
((ypsi))
right Jacula
Got to go and make dinner now. My sympathy for your loss, ypsi. Katie - Hold on to things. You WILL come through this.
hi all..does anyone have the first ac6 pls?
I have to go now too...... off to lunch, take care KATE!
bye jac
by ypsi hello rolin
sorry, I am reading, I just don't know what to say
got it thx
bye ypsi ((hugs)) :)
my partner found it...(he made me say this..lol)
that's fine kate, and really nothing we can say or even do will help, you have to work thru your grief
lol rolin
you don't have to say anything kate, just hang in there.
down to my last 8, and time for a break... later all :)
I feel like I've been shot
ac + lymph ****
bye for now, everyone. (((hugs))) kate
have to go now, everybody. Kate, take care and know that you can get through this. God bless.
thanks everyone for being here, I feel a little less alone
I have a website that I go to when I need prayer, you have to register, but the people are great, www.naznet.com if you are interested

hi smiley and feather
hi gramma
i'm having a hard time seeing the words today
any clue for co6/33? plz and ty
past tense of co4/8 if you have it
they are definately hiding today
i thought i was doing soo well, but still got 105 to go...:-(
don't have that one either
you mean the hair one sparkly?
I can't see the last sh4/5 besides being hurt by a gun
the hood cap one feather
ok, same one, different meanings
ty got it
aha
feather: something you put on your feet
co4/8 - co + 2 letter word meaning whether/possibly
then past tense will give you the co6
i have the one sparkly is talking about, and the past tense of it. now is the feet one the same points? or a different word?
Hello Babblers.
hi swmbo
feet one is same points
ok, looking. thanks.
I think the feet clue was for me, but I already have all the feet sh's
oh! lol, i was trying co words
looking for the last sh4 after the coastline, but not being hurt by a gun
the last sh4 is sh + bu**ed treasure
not sure of the definition....
gramma, I can't believe you have 14 grandchildren! How very prolific a family you have. My mother, who had 9 children, has only 11 grandchildren. WOW
wow I should have known that, ty sparkly
:)
I'm really struggling with the first 2 yo words! does anyone have them and can clue?
ty swmbo, prolific is a great word to describe my family lol
days of yo**
thats the one I have annie, it's the yo4/8 and the yo5/18 I can't seem to find
yo4/8 - Hebrew letter, ends with two unlikely consonants
there is 5 generations of women in my family, my gramma is only 76, and my oldest grand is 11, so very likely could be 6 gens
where the blooming heck are all the F words?
thanks vic! would never have got those 2 :)
hi babblers!
lol ata, I said that earlier, but I found them all once looking
thanks, vic
hey fran!

hi jean!
great icon, Fran
thanks annie. :-)
I like it, too, Fran.
why thank you vicuna.
i'm very low on Ds myself.
I've been really lazy with the icons lately. What with house guests and missing some days, and all the rest, I haven't changed icons in weeks. I'll have to get back into it one of these days.
well your signature icon is so cute, we don't care vicuna.
Aww, how kind of you to say so, Fran! :)
bah. 94 left still, and i'm wanting lickety already.

Hello, Luwanda.
please fran don't temp me. i will never get papers graded!!! lol
may I have a clue fo the co7/32?
i keep wondering when douglas is going to update the star system. i've got quite a few accumulating now!
you get a two week trial, sort of like here, after that there's a subscription fee, but if you do well in the puzzles you get your subscription extended.
co7/32 - sex, usually ends in -us as in interruptus
i know heather, i want to see how much longer my subscription goes.
luwanda, during school i can't do babble and quote puzzler both, so i do only quote puzzler! i babble on weekends.
does anyone know what the 9's begin with ..
co9 and in9
in9, em
thanx
ok, i need 4 more words to get past halfway. i only have one O word, the smelly one. anybody care to toss me an O or two?
co7/32, co + air-cond*****ing
not sure how to work the extra letter in the co7, Vicuna. there's co**** with 6 letters.
od5 - movie theater, and pl
thanks Fran, got it now.
heather, the hawaiian flowering tree that sounds like a state and plural
heather, smell
the co7 ends with the noun ending like one na---- under God
oh, grr, i should have had that tree one!
feather, the willow
heather, drying oven
hmm.....ruminating.....
oh duh, you had the smelly one
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S
yay sha!!!
yay sha!
congrats to sha
Yay for sha!
congrats sha, and hello all that came in whilst I was in the grid
w00t!

Hmm, gonna have to figure how to do this while on the treadmill (as soon as I unhang the clothes on it)!

hee, i know! i loved it!
ohh, clue fran?
it's one of those "sound" words, he4/6
aahh, beavis and butthead chuckle
you know, like ooh
hi une!
exactly une
monkeying
hey, fran!
It isn't "too much" chatting, grammat. It's the leavening to the denseness of the grid.
hi une
tks Fran!
aha!
hey, gramma :-)
yw mom
and yay! now i have 88 words, and 86 left to go. past halfway, lickety here i come! .......after my nap that is.....

I am missing a th6, after the science word, before the kings seat, any clues?
gramma, the god of thunder and 2 vowels
thanks annie!
and plural it
cool, that greyed out my Ts!
ty annie!
glad to help
morning all - does anyone have a clue for de6/24 please
hi flosey! not yet
flosey, a lie (and plural)
hey, just got it - seem dishonest
flosey - hello - the DE 6/24 means to lie to (that person is very DE****ful)
hi flosey, when you trick someone?
thanks all!
thanks Inge2 and JMann, and gramma, monkeyed it !
after staring at it for so long!
lol flosey I know, down to my last 4 and cant find a ti4 that is aggravating!!!!
do you know where it is on the list gramma
is it a 4/5 or 4/4?
laced, level, cans, fatigue?
I have one who binds, being bound, what cans are made of, and what cars drive on
change last vowel of your last one
how about novice.
TI = one meaning even (a TI** score), one is a level (the upper TI** of a cake), what cans are made of, what goes on your car (4 of them to be exact - american spelling), that TI with a differnt vowel ending and then it's plural
I need on7/32, any clues please
lol ty une, that would have save me alot of typing ( : yes flosey that's it ty
on7 not out at sea
flosey, what une said
did I not say hi? I thought I had...
hey, kate
lol fran, I just need the two hebrew y words and I am done
hi kate
I'm going crazy, I don't even know what day it is
HI everyone!
what do they start with gramma?
hi peri!
hi peri, (((hugs))) kate
kate - breathe - you know that everyone on this list has gone through what you're going through, and we've all made it! And you will too. It will get better
hey, peri!
anyone have any clues for the DH 5?
breathing, I think I can manage that
thanks une - had to leave for a minute!
Une, is the you in your icon
yo4/8 and yo5 after
meant is that you Une, in your icon?
of course you can - you can manage it all - you just need to know that (and remember it!)
jmann, do you remember the liar's club? with do*** goodman? rhymes with her name.
peri, that's my daughter with my mom's dog--we were up at my mom's yesterday . . . I just put my daughter and her boyfriend on the plane back to MD . . . sigh . . .
Kate, it will help you to get up and do something, no matter how small, even if it's just preparing a snack for your girls, playing a game with them or doing the laundry.
Each little step helps you get back to normal.
ok, she is very pretty Une.
grammaterri - yo4 & plural 5: think of a Jedi master from Sta Wars & change his last letter.
the girls are in bed, I was managing 5 minute bursts of housework this morning but that was before I knew
thanks, she's also brilliant, very sweet, and very funny! :-)
Hi again, everyone, btw.
hi jac!
hey, jac!

Hey there Jacula
Evening everyone

oh good jmann, i was thinking my clue was too obscure! :-)
ty all
I know sweetie, my heart goes out to you. Can't say I have every been in your situation although I have had relationships that have ended. Just take one day at a time. (((((kate and her girls)))))
Joey is back from the vet's with a good prognosis. He's probably going to have to become a house rabbit from now on though. Could be awkward... with 2 cats.
kate - life is good, but it has ups and downs, and right now your in a down position - and it seems like you will never get out of it, but TRUST me - you will
I don't dare put my music on, I'm not ready to cry yet
oh that's good to hear Jacula
understand Kate
jac, depends on your cats i guess
I know I'll be alright eventually, I just don't know how to manage this particular day
kate, you are breathing :) and we are all here to give your emotional support.
but when you are ready - take advantage of it - it really will help clean some of your pent up feelings - it'll be good for you - and when you're done, we'll all be here for you
we will indeed Kate - wish you could feel the energy that is going out to you
I really appreciate you all being here, I don't know what I'd do without you
brb, chatting with my daughter

we had a thunder storm (very rare for us) once and I was standing in the back garden and the lightning was getting closer - well, one went off really close to us, because the thunder was almost instananeous - and it was sooooo loud - scared the SN 4/5 out of me
congrats deb
flosey, biblical form of "spoke"
flosey, what une said
ah thanks Une
:-)
Take a leap of FA*** - just change the first letter
one more to go
clue for the O on the far left please

me too JMann - it's st5/12
ah, FIREWORKS! Pretty

WTG JMann

Hello again. Sorry for delay. I'm down here at 3.18am due to hot flushes (or 'flashes' as you in USA call them). Other Half has just been downstairs due to same. We had cavity wall insulation installed a few months ago - it's too hot upstairs now. Even my 22-year-old son is having hot flushes! LOL.
got it , ty
too painful to contemplate, jacs!
However, the males don't get them every 10 mins like I do, and they are not hormonal flushes, one hopes.

in 8 -- does it build on the 7?
Hi jilli! Before your try the seasonal 'hoho!' I can tell you it is not a word. Neither is ac6/21 with an 'ed' at the end.
Bet you haven't received my snail mail yet, jilli!?

Or giving clues? Who knows?
I think my snail mail took about 2 weeks to reach Renfield. Probably be the same for you.
7:50 pm my time and still supperless as usual
What 'f' words would you like us to tell you, jilli?
Jac, snailmail in Canada is about the slowest in the world and expensive too.
Oh, jilli. *sighs* go off an microwave something. We'll talk clues when you get back.xx
bye jacs!
jilli - when my uncle etc., were on Vancouver Island, BC they said the same. Now they are in Courtice (Ontario) they reckon post from UK only takes a couple of days.
TO - I haven't gone. I was sending jilli off to get something to eat.
haha, Jac -- I picked up a Southern Fried Chicken breat and some scalloped spuds at the deli earlier and will microwave some fresh asparagus with lemon butter, but I gotta finish vodka #2 first <VBG>
hey jili
at this season, jac, UK post takes a bit longer but is still very fast
Hi TO!

Hi TO!
hey jacs - was at the mall ealier today - they had a 10 x 12 banner of jd in pirates!
Rennie's hubby was injured while on his bicycle by an idiot in an SUV who crossed 2 lanes. His knee was smashed so Ren is too busy to babble, caring for him and the household and job.
jilli - I forgive you then - doing fresh veg. Good girl! LOL.
gee when did this happen? mez has the worst luck
Oh jac, I am SO grateful!
Saracasm, my dear jilli, so I am told, is the lowest form of wit. (Makes me laugh though!)

jilli - you still haven't told me what an SUV is. Is it like a big 4-wheel drive vehicle here in UK?

Hi all, ni 5/12 = female relative
mkl - ni5/12 is the word I NEVER see until someone clues it. It's the female equivalent of a nephew.
Your sibling's female child.
Aw crap. Thanks Jacula
PS - Babbler's icon for tomorrow is beautiful -- have a look if you've put her in "My Friends" as you should.

no4 is an anagram of the no4 after it
as in film no**, black or dark film...
Oh B*gger! Just taken a trip up the stairs, after helping newly arrive home daughter with latest feeing on sick rabbit. Last advice I gave other half re too-hot bedroom was 'leave door open'. It seems to have worked for him because he is sleepinf (and not even snoring). However, he has, in his tossing & turning, dragged entire bottom sheet and mattress cover off my side of bed. I cannot sleep on what's there and I can't put it right either, with Other Half's weight on it.:((((
thank you...firworks!!
HI BJ! Happy New Year to you... soon!
Happy New Year Jacs.
yw, congrats =)
I know folks who each have their own quilt to avoid that problem
well, that sounds like quite an adventure, jac!
Harp - Hi! The suv explanation - that's a 4-wheel drive thingey here then. Like I thought.
or their own bedrooms *snicker*
They call them 4x4s in Albion...
SUV pretty much = selfish b*stard here
call them road hazards in canada....
Hmm - I'll huff and puff a lot when I go up... if he opens his eyes, or even one eye, after that, I'll hit him with my 'Evil Bitch' look. That should do the trick! LOL.
BJ - They are called 'Essex Tractors' here in UK.
the thing is, most people who have them don't actually NEED that sort of vehicle, they do very little driving that uses the four-wheel drive. We just need them because we THINK we need them!
we sensible subaru drivers drive up the snowy mountain at a reasonable speed, passing all the SUVs overturned on the side of the freeway... thought they could go fast because of the size of their vehicle
anyone want a clue before I leave?
go subaru drivers! That's what we have too!
they cannot need those vehicles becauuse they are completely useless. no carrying capacity
the seven sisters rule!
hi nan!
Same here, Harp. I do live in a semi-rural village where half of us DO need that type of vehicle (or just a basic Land Rover) but most of these stupid car owners are women driving kids 50 yards to school down a tarmac road!
hi babblers!
i love freezing rain up here. Get to see all the corvettes and suv's in the ditch.....
yes, nan, ac7, 32
Well, if you need a vehicle that will take a harp through the mountains one day, and a family through the mountains the next, then you could make a case for it. But most just want to be the biggest SOB (oops, excuse me SUV) on the road...
plural of ac6 21
lol brandyjack! Ever drive over Snowqualmie Pass near Seattle? It would be easy to negotiate if it weren't for the porches that get stuck and slow everything else down!
hi o2b
BJ - we used to do that in North Wales. Sometimes we'd drag 'em out with the tractor or land rover... sometimes we wouldn't.
I think we need graduated gas prices......
well I should have asked for that one =) my only ac's left
os5? not the willow?
ac7/32, ac7 speak louder than words
hi barkingkel

wait, they did ask for ao6
it's my dislexic monkey
ao6 does exist!

co9 is the plural of a long-gone animal that is co8/50. co8 = co* (dupe) + vowel + squashed up form of do not. The 9 adds the usual consonant for the plural.

later Mundy
Mundy - Christmas cards, writing of? A bit late now!
or way ahead of the game for 2007! lol
Better late than never right?
I'm sure I would have been finished if I hadn't been introduced to Babble by Mayne Girl.
Yea, I suppose so, Mundy.
erm...
yeah mundy, it's all Mayne Girl's fault. :-)
Now, look here! Babble is NO excuse for missing Xmas!
why, Jac, did you intro Mayne Girl? =)
No, I didn't intoruce Mayne Girl, o2.
Plus my friends are use to receiving these letters at odd times of the year. I thought for sure once I was retired I'd really have it together, not the case, must just be my organizational skills
Or even introduce. LOL
so does the UK have graduated prices based on the vehicle you drive?

where are you lbd?
hi faerie!
I'm in Kalispell MT
Hi Faerie!
Hi Fran :)
where are you shannon?
Hiya Dawg
I'm in Tucson, AZ. It was chilly here today, only in the high 50s, but there is snow on our mountains.
So, can I ask? Why is evryon so keen to shunt 2006 out?
cause it sucked
Good question Jac and Hi
we wont talk about snow or cold...lol I used to live in safford...used to is the operative word! :-)
it more than sucked it was horrible
I'm not. It went way too fast. Remember when your parents used to tell you that you shouldn't wish you were older because time goes by way too fast as it is. It's very true.
Does anyone really belive on year will be bette than the next? Time is what you make it.
no, i think next year will suck too
I'm going to be away from babbling except for a bit after the flip until after 2006 departs
yes it is too true Shannon.
But every bad thing that happens is soon just a memory.
my outlook is there's no way it will be as bad
hi hursh!
Actually my year turned out to be pretty good so I have no complaints
unless you have a continual bad thing.
aloha fran
hi mcurl!
this year hasn't been bad, not great but not bad.
Hi Jill :)
Life can suck. But it can also be great. Never let go of that thought.xxx
hey all, just sat down to shut off this infernal box and here's Jill threatening to strike? por quois ma ami?
2007 could only be worse if son ended up in iraq
Well, you can expect to have another bad year, or hope for a better one.
ha'oli makahiki ho to the australians and europeans that will be ringing in the new year soon!
Hello FAERIE! how's your mother?
(pour quoi ma amie)
no not bad, he's still qualifying on aircraft
oops, that should be ha'oli makahiki hou
I get a probably bad diagnosis about my beloved 17-yr-old cat first thing in 2007 when the blood test results come back.
Is he in the AF?
thanks hurshy --- maybe I should review the french I took 30 years ago!
Hi ((((Stid)))) she is doing really good I'm glad to report. How are you feeling?
oh pourquoi all one word, too.
I am well Faerie -- glad there's only a few more months until Spring. :-)

*sending anti-bad-news vibes to Jill's vet* {{Jill}}

MC, is your son in the Air Force?

Come on! Get with you it you lot! When my Dad was in a closed ward due to dementia, and, belive me it was hard out-running him to the door, where he'd then beat on it and yell, 'Don't leave me! I want to go home!' (But, he'd do that when he WAS at home, too.)
MC -- does he fly one of the refueling tankers?
hi everyone!
hi luwanda!
hi dee!
152 i have been defeated by the clock
hello Lu and Volley!
no he's training to be an aerial gunner on an AC130 gunship
{{{lil}}} how many did you have left?
he'll eventually see some action but not for about 1.5 years
MC, AF guys are safe, relatively, so don't be too worried.
beautiful icon Fran!
thanks, lbd but I was hoping she'd last into her twenties as many cats do. She's the only huggable friend in my house.
wow. big job, MC. hoping he'll be very bored once training is over.
thanks dee!
