Okay, I just changed my icon, gotta refresh...
I likie to get one word per box before bed, this might be difficult
i think i am going to use it anyway - i spent long enough looking for one that was interesting
oooh. 4 x 4 in the bottom right corner
to7/32
I'm going on strike and waqtching PBS's Virgin Queen, then read a book -- nuts to this
I live near Arlington, Helen, very moving photo.

No, only in plain snow, Helen.

It is horrifying.... to drive up the hill and see the endless "fields of stone" shifting as you rise. :(
hey, hk, jilli, Fran, etc. jilli, I just love beams of sunlight thru clouds. . .
hey melon!
Hiya, Melon... :)
i hear you ankh :(
Franmag, I never heard of your kind before, the lenticular ones.

i take my minor victories where I can steal them

DRB do you set up little challenges for yourself? i'm impressed.
Another big one...hello everyone.
hi kkiln!
Maniac called 2 ne8's
Hi kkiln, melon, Fran
hi kkiln
and relarion
try to come up with something different to do each night before bed (i.e., less than an hour)
Shalom Everyone
hi arb
ah, i remember - hk's clouds are called mamatus.
Hi arb
DRB, i try to do tht -- at least one per sq, or if not at least 3 grays before I lie down.
boker tov ARB, how's the weather by you?
i feel like ef4/7 has been in every grid the last week or so
melon - okay miss supreme smartypants, what else so you know about them? come on sister, let's see that report!
thanks marpocky
it depends on the grid. with this one a word per square was obvious
phantom: spigot
Melon, Cold nights, Warm days -- rain is over for the time being.
gots is too a word! "i gots to go somethin' fierce"
don wanna! i just stumbled across pix of them on the web a few days ago.
LOL - okay
sounds nice, ARB. It's still above freezing here - very, very odd for Cleveland.
Nice clouds, Melon, what kind are they, again? We used to call them the same thing when I was little.
a grey box! yay!
Gots Fest?
another grey box!
i like this grid. it's all over the place
they might be strato-cumulus didn't say at the pic.
okay, one in every square... Txs, Melon.
afts? as in the backs of ships? word, i say!
oh, i see a word i will forever associate with disgraced veep Spiro T Agnew
nattering nahbobs of negativity?
Txs, Melon --- yes, Marpocky, there there there, we agree, but the dictionary does not.
is it...spiro?
almost agnew, too
how many words today?
259
heck, i can spell spirotagne
ok ty
DRB - are we showing our age?
afts seems to be available a lot lately
ne7 at last
with gusto
i have a single ne7. rumor is there are 2 of them, and 2 ne8s
fa7, late as ever
4 ne7 2 ne8
marpocky - you deserve some sort of recognition for finding the veeps nearly entire name in the grid - everybody: HIP, HIP...
"hey, hey get off of my cloud" R.S.
HOORAY!
snot
oops!
almost ted and that was the short version of his middle name if I remember correctly
Tosses icky fish at Les
HOORAY!
i greyed a box!
yea marp!
took a while tonight
got my ro7
2 ro7's
2? Dang, Maniac, you so good.

Clues are up! Enjoy!
ThankyouLicketyMagnifico!
TY Lickety
Nor I, CyberNan
thanks lickety!
effin is a word --- I can't find those effen ne 8's
Thank you Lickety!!! Hooray for Lickety!!!
ty lickety

Nighty Night, Helen, Sleep Tight
Hi all babbling buddies!!
Hi, Dee!
i see 6 "4-squares' which form a total of 12 words - i see 12 so far.
hi dee!
hi VMD
Hugs to Fran!
Hugs to Ank!
make that 13 words.
:)
if anyone's paying attention. . . .;p
i think i'm at 14
Good clue, Melon
Hugs melon!
15
7 "4-squares" with 14 total words. . .
marp you are keeping me on my - woops almost said a word.
tx VMD
i have 10 4-squares providing 15 words
And that's such a difficult po**
you should have more than 15 words since i found 14 in 7 squares
one square has 6 - countem - 6 words!
i feel like i've tried every 4-square
oh, tx Ankh!
at 10, I'm sure you have found every square
ok yeah, i have 16 words from my 10. but i should be able to squeak out a few more
now i've found 9
what on earth are you talking about with your 4 squares?
Nan, two letters above two other letters is a 4-square, and some of these 4-sqs contain two words
yay! greyed out a letter!
four letters which form a square that makes one or more words. the obvious is lower right corner, which forms 6.
Nan, the bottom right corner of the grid -- the 4sq there has at least three words in it.
go Frannie!
i have a 6, a 2, and 8 1's
6 Ankh
Dang, Melon, I only have four now... monkeytime!
flip
hi ang
hi angb!
an kh said a woord again -- same one
watch your words Ankhy!
Just at flip had to go and cook dinner. So a bit late starting. How is it?
Hello Ang
Hi lynxxx
this grid has words oozing from every corner
AngB your cloud looks like a giant bunny rabbit! :)
*smacks self with the SAME fish!*
Queer ain't it
very cool cloud angb!
ankh, that fish is starting to smell reaaaly bad. :-)
in the right 2 colums there are4 "squares" = amazing.
Your;s is beautiful Fran.
And melon's is surreal
that equal sign was a typo s/b hyphen
Okay, so my icon is more hamster than cloud -- but I tried!
yes melon, very beautiful pic
It's white Ankh
ankh, if you found a hamster cloud we would have been very impressed.
Ang, if you click on me, you'll see the clouds... in the corners! :) Fran, sorry, didn't have time to whip up a hamster cloud -- hmmm.
Aaah - missed them first time round Ankh. Thanks for pointing them out
*flaps wings, satisfied*
found all 10 square marpocky - total words: 18 by my count.
oh well, thought my angel cloud was nice
joes
laila tov, must get my rest. have fun, everybody.
night melon!
It is! :) Oh, nite-nite, Melon, thanks for the clues...
Jilli - you hadn't "talked" since I had arrived. It's is beautiful.
jilli, your angel cloud is lovely!
Jilli, if it's your babbleguardianangel, it's letting you down! *tosses small fishie*
bye melon
nite melon, hi all!
found the second ne 7, but doesn't help me with the 8's
Is that specially for me Jilli - as I am a namesake
nan, i still have only one ne7!
Me too, Fran
ooh -- ne 7 x3 and an 8!!!!!
go nan!
Gosh, Nan... *sigh*
pl 2 ne7s nan!
one of my 7's is a plural and the other can't be pluralized, the 8 I have is a plural
aha, no8
how many ne 7's are there?
4
4 nan
guess which one I'm missing ;)
is the of6 a real word?
thanks ankh! that greyed out my O
Don't thank me! Help me! Is it real?
think most of5
It is Ank - though somewhat old fashioned
do you have 2 x ne7/36?
Oh, duh. Txs, Mitch!
Txs Lynxxx
change the end of ne7/36 and pl
sorry ankh, i thought you were making a comment, not asking for a clue! :-)
*grins at Fran* No, I was stumbling. Nearly bedtme, I guess.
morning all :)
Do you have 4 ne 7s and 2 ne 8s?
hi sprite!
hello Sprite
hi sprite
thanks about the cloud, all -- I'm a bit distracted -- watching PBS -- and I wasn't going to do this biggie but got caught
ah --- got them!
spoken as a true babbler, jilli :)
hi sprite
Hi, Sprite! Dee, I got squat here, still struggling with os6
listless so far and 63 found but no long words (well, 3 7s)
You're better than I at the long ones, Jilli -- I have 122 shorties.
os6 has to do with bones ankh, os + a color
Well I have only 41 words and only 2 7's
toga
ankh - os + color
Got that one jilli
jilli, he who nullifies - work from there
Txs, Marpocky, I'll try.
actually fran beat me to the clue
finished :P
Txs also Fran
poet
yay mitch!!
aarrrgghhh
yay maniac!
amazing as usual, maniac
YAY M A N I A C ! ! !
Yay maniac
yay maniac!!!!
"aarrrgghhh" is not found in the dictionary
i want potentate.
*grumbles about os-color word, hrumph!*
Please tell me you use the list maniac.
tx all - needed a little help from the list for the last 2 though - interesting to7
I mean, Fran, Marpocky, don't you think it should have an i and not an a?
Maniac - what can I say!
Well, Fran, you can't have it.
LOL maniac. I must time one day how long it takes me. Probably multiply your time x 10
Fran you can't even have potent
yeah probably but i can see the e too, at least for a bone-related word
seems like it should ankh
i know angb! :-(
am definitely colourblind
*sighs and slogs back into grid*
the color is also a type of duck sprite
sprite -- os + duck
thanks to jilli, i haven't missed pi5/12 since she used for an icon on a past friday.
lol. found a pi7 non-word that represents how some of us might feel looking for those last few words
not valid though, right marpocky? In that case I know exactly what you mean and I agree!
yeah it didn't take it. stupid grid.
I think so too
never mind the end -- that's how I feel right now!
phantom: gland
I would have thought more pi 4/7 - INVALID - is how I feel
hey night owl r u here
Yes. I am here.
angb extend it to 7 and it still works
Reeses, r u here?
LOL got it \
lol fran re the pi!
if kenaf is a word, so should pi7 be.
Did you look up the meaning of that sprite? I didn't
Okay, I'm way behind.... I don't get it...
pi 4 + not on
if you add a vowel to the pi4 INVALID it is a word
I was so Pi4 about it that I did not care for the def.
Smiley, got that one
Gee - dah thnx :D
yeah, those other Pi words are the reason we don't write it full out.
Okay, y'all, bedtime for me... thanks for the chat & clues!
night Ankh :)
night ankh!
Nite Ankh - see you in your morning perhaps
night ankh
bye anhk
nite

bye ankh, and i've got to go too! bye all
bye mva!
I forgot - need some advice. My anti- virus programme provider has decided to charge (AVG) - do any of you know a reputable free alternative?
:::hollers back, "Bye MVA!" and is gone again:::
finally finally got the colour duck os argh unword
how many fe 7s are there please?
Angb, there is still a free version of AVG, I am using it too.
ang -- you have to wade through the fine print to fine the free program at grisoft, but it is there -- I've downloaded it
They supposedly stopped it Jan 15th
don't know dee, i have one
ty Fran
But I'll look again
oh -- I got it when they first started sending messages about it.
hi everyone
it is like nan said, you really really have to look for it, they hid it well.
Thnx - grisoft does hide them I know. I had to go to 2 other sites to download the last one
hi annother1
I used to use AVG but I use anti-vir now from www.free-av.com
Hi ann
also free and much better than AVG
i just spray penicillin on my pc. that seems to work well
hi anno!
gotta dash bbl
Cheers ann - that's excellent.
bye smiley
Bye :D
later :D
that's a good idea, marpocky.
updates itself for free every couple of days and removes trojans that AVG can't
it's not anti-virus, more anti-adware, but i swear by ad-aware
I have ad-aware as well.
Hadn't cleaned the computer for a wee while. Gee it's quicker now
12 j's !!! -- I only have 7
bookmarked it, ann, thanks.
I use ad-aware as well as the anti-vir. I also use Winpatrol
Haven't any yet nan - will now look
nan i just got my 7th j
i have 9
9 Js that is
the last 3 must be weird ones
and the VW doesn't work
ooh, 10 now
I want an E next to the D
I want script from the first glance at the grid.
i want join and joins
sprite, your phantoms always inclued phantom letters as well! :-)
I always think jist is a word
it is a word with a g
I know, Fran :) I always see things that are not there.
Yeh I know - but they sound the same!
i tried jips too, just in case
Oh yes marpocky so did I
jisp is a place close to me
And jeso knowing it has a lot of different letters
would you all like to see my 10 so we can compare?
at least we have proven we have very creative minds
I have only 6 x j 4/9s!
or are you letting monkeys work a little more?
tada! should be a word
I have one jo5/20
i have 7 x j4/9s and a j5/20
7 j4/9's and a j 5/20
there's another j5/20 and j6/33
good morning all
combo?
lol -- think they are the same ones marpocky?
je5/20 and je6/33
7 j4/9, 2 5/20, 2 6/33, 1 7/48
Hi ian
the je's are a combo, yes, found them. Thanks Fran.

A j 7 - LOL - I think I will go on to the next letter
thanks muse!
oh i found them too! thanks fran. now for the last j6 and j7
me too, thanks muse :)
muse, what does the second j6/33 come after?
the flying things
it's alt spelling of prev
thanks muse
the je 6/7 combo is a homonym for the 5/6 combo
aha! begone, foul J!
Found the fearfull An5/14 that is a dutch word as well
thanks sprite
and that word puts me over the halfway point. thanks sprite
yw, it's always a nasty one for me
boy - those 'dumb' pills I took on the weekend are really working well
hiding your baffling intelligence from the world, lynxxx? How come?
finally finished those Js!
You must have slipped some into my drink lynxxx
I;ve been really downcast since maniac went fireworks. Wow, how is that? Amazing
I have really struggled to see words on the last 3 grids !
maniac is a master boggle player, that's why he's so fast, his usual game is only 60 seconds long.
down to 82 -- leaving them for tomorrow --- good night all :)
night nan!
Me too - and I usually like big ones. Must be the weather I reckon the cold helps focus the NH brains
night nan
night nan
Bye Cybernan. I must be off too - free movie tickets can't be wasted. See you all later
I want sirop
now i can't stop looking for J words!
Ahhh - he must have problems finding enough games to play each day LOL. Explains it though. Must devote myself to something. Oh no, I don't have time, I babble all day
bye lynxxx
bye lynxxx and nana

only if we believe what lain says about you jean. ;-)
*tries to remove blind spot for babble words from grid to see if it can be used for certain chat entries*
oh jilli, leaving us already?
good morning oh big brother Iain:)

Ne8/50 x 2, no8/40, Se8/40
thanks! going to look now.
and the Se is a real word, a common word!
i love this, i typed in ef6/36 thinking it couldn't possibly be here and it is!
wtg Fran!
it still took me a minute or two to figure out how it's in there!
there is a ta7/52 that is more or less similar
thanks sprite, how did i miss that?

Hello, all.
hi merk!
hi Merk
hey merk. i saw a picture today from harbin. the ice festival, looked pretty!
I'm into the da words and am stuck on the first da 4,7 and da 6,27. Any clues please?
Yes, we are going to the snow and ice sculptures this Saturday afternoon and evening. Snow is best afternoon to dusk, the ice at night.
Merk, think Italian slang
the first da4/7 i have is a racial slur
da + move to a certain place
thanks sprite, only had one of the plurals
Oh, one of those yucky ones. I always forget that one.
hi joey!
hi FranMag, doing OK? we are having an ice storm here and the idiots are still on the road
Actually we should forget those ones
ty. So the first three da all build off the nasty one.
yes, and the 4th kinda sorta too.
joey, thankfully we don't have to worry about ice over here!
glad to see you're safe in front of your computer though!
FM, i forgot where you were. I am in TX, and i guess we get one of these a year. hopefully it is the only one. but the commute tomorrow could be brutal
well, be safe joey!
short commute. will try thanks
no ice here, but we did have a tsunami watch the other night that caused some concern. the wave turned out to be about 14 inches at the most.
Did not know 'commute' and looked it up. Thanks for teaching me a new word :)
are you near the coast, or is that a stupid ? i guess almost everything in HI is close.
very funny, sprite. ha ha
I thought sotten was a word (when a girl is smitten by a boy)... must have dreamt that one LOL
not meant to be funny, joey, I was serious :)
i think we're far enough inland that we wouldn't be affected, but one of my husband's best friends is right on the water.
must have dee!
Volleymom: tried that one too!
one of your husbands??
sorry, sprite. it is such an every day word here, never gave it a thought. glad that i could add to your knowledge a thousand apologies
besotten is a word though isnt it
ty sprite; glad it wasn't just me
begotten is
lol marpocky! one of his friends. what, you didn't know we practice polygamy in polynesia? :-)
hi wurdy!
I know that one sprite, but i really thought that besotten was a word too
Hey fran totally insomniac tonight
not found in the dictionary wurdy
lol joey, no apologies needed. Just glad I could add something to my list of words. wurdygirl, I don't think so. Besot is.
oh THAT's why they call it polynesia
hubbys 40th was yesterday. Took him to a brewery where he could drink all day free....and boy oh boy did he
i thought you were just up really early...had to check my clock.
and actually fran, that would be polygyny :)
wow wurdy! did you bring him home in a bucket?
of course marpocky, couldn't think of the word.
well, lol I guess i am up really early...finally went to bed around 10 aftter starting at 12:30
sprite, when you speak of your distance from home to work, what do you refer to it as?
it's one of my favorite words because it ends in 3 y syllables
or did you leave him there?
Actually it was funny, one of our friends brought him a blow up walker that said things like danger old person and stuff like that and he actually used it on the way out to the car
We call it 'forenzen', joey.
thanks
lol wurdy!
I love that man he is a funny drunk
he was congratulating the waitress for being very good at her job
marpocky, i'm thinking that could be a great lifestyle, one husband to do the laundry, one to cook, another to do my nails...
or "pendelen', though that word is a bit oldfashioned now.
hugged her when we left
I am in, Fran.
sounds like he had a great time wurdy!
might not think so tomorrow i'm thinking.
i would like to learn dutch someday. that's 88% of my heritage
lol sprite, let's start our own island or something.
he did although he is not feeling so well right now...he is up with a headache so i just shoved some motrin down his throat
think I am gonna let the kids jump all over him in the am
lol
that would be great, Fran! Marpocky, you come too, right? We will teach you dutch :)
why not, his birthday is over! :-)
thats right you cant ride that train forever
i guess if i can be the cook husband...
We will love you forever for that, marpocky
oh, you cook? well, you can come then.
well. i'm no gourmet or anything but i'm sure i'm better at that than laundry or nails
actually wurdy, i celebrated turning 30 for a whole month. i totally milked that one.
rofl marpocky!
imagine, someone actually willing to do the cooking. I'll do your laundry, if you cook, really!
someone else has to do all the grocery shopping though.
sprite, he's young too, he can be molded! :-)
he is planning on working this into a year long celebration....thats ok....but not that kind of drinking every night...hell be on a list for a liver transplant in no time lol
sprite - you like laundry???I abhor laundry
Too good to be true, almost, Fran :) And fireworks.
congrats sprite
wurdy, he may have learned the lesson on his own! especially if you let the kids "wake him up" in the morning.
yay sprite!
I hate laundry, wurdy. I just detest cooking far more.
kids and dog...ahhhh good times
i still have 63 to go!
congrats, sprite. i have 23 left
go Fran goooooo
and joey too, getting real close!
I dont mind cooking I hate the griping that goes with it from the kids if it is not deep fried it is pronounced pukable by them ungrateful slobs lol
i'm going to save mine for tomorrow and head off to QP and sudoku before bed.
and i love grocery shopping just not putting it away
good night everyone!
good night
night fran
that's terrible, wordy! I am the ungrateful one here, my kids love about everything we cook and my husband is just the same. They value everything I cook. I just hate having to do it every day.
you are quite lucky...it has gotten to the point where I just tell them to eat a pbj and that is dinner I dont cook for them anymore
just cook for 30 days all at once and throw it all in the freezer
nite, fran... heck, Wurdy, that's a decent deal
Let them eat pbj. It's good for them and easy on you.
I need to guess here. Pbj... would that be peanut butter jelly sandwich?
Sprite? Fireworks? Congrats! Yes.
freezer not that big mar - plus I buy frozen pizzas and they take up a lot of room...they like the cheap cardboard pizza. and they like fruit so yes, easy on me
yeah! Got some idiom down on my own :D
you got it sprite
*doesn't cook. ever.*
I have an odd question.... are there any folks here who like to pray for other people?
after the day I fouled up a microwave hotdog, Dear One has begged me to stay out of the kitchen.
lol that is one thing my kids make well...anything in the micor
Ankh - why didn't I think of that! Volleymom: almost every day
Dee, I know Helen Keller does the white-light thing for people in trouble.
scrambled eggs in the micro they are a whiz at that
what is the white light thing?
Hmmm, well, I'm not her, so it's hard to describe, but it's kind of a new-age meditation where she pictures the person/dog/etc bathed in white light. She's Bahai; don't know if this is their thing, or her own thing.
I can do eggs in micro if I remember to poke them, so no kabloom!
hmm I've never heard of that before
ank - only 1 min per egg no kaboom no poke
what do you have going on dee
yeah, there are a few traditions that do it -- wiccans, some of them; and other new age traditions; and you'll have to ask Helen about the Bahai. And maybe... maybe Buddhists? Not sure?
interesting
*used to throw a little cheese in with the eggs*
Dee, what Wurdy says -- are you okay?
yum and bacon bits
Nobody trusts me with bacon.
i dont cook the bacon I buy the salad bits
Fakin' bacon!
my adult daughter had a bad break up today with a boyfriend; she is heartbroken, even though it was a mutual thing. My mama's heart hurts for her.
"A mother is only as happy as her unhappiest child."
She thought they would work out differences and possibly get married.
soooo true
I'm sorry, Dee, for you & for her.
ty sweetie!
that is rough dee
Good thoughts and prayers will never hurt, Dee. She'll be in my thoughts for a bit now, an dyou too.
Hmmm.... if that means "he'd change," she's better off this way, because that doesn't happen.
it always hurts when dreams die
same here
she is such a sweet and lovely woman now; ty so much sprite!!
*agrees with Wurdy*
exactly wurdy!
I did not find Dear One until I was THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD.
I was 30
and we met on the internet
And the waiting was not pleasant; but it would have been worse if I had settled and then had had to separate. I would have hated that.
married in 4 months still going strong 9 years and 2 kids later
Lots of her friends are getting married or having babies, so I think she feels "pressure" from peers. Ank, that is what I told her tonight.
I hear you ankh
Dee, you're absolutely right, tell her to hang on. Marriage isn't like going to prom. You don't have to just cuz everyone else has to.
heck, her peers probably enby her
ooops envy
For sure!!! LOL
I did a consult with a canon lawyer -- you know what that is? -- re annulment of a Catholic wedding.
I was almost 30 before I met my love. Wrestled with an alcoholic before that. And am ever so glad I stuck to what my heart told me and waited, because I couldn't be any happier with any other man. Over 11 years together now and 2 kids, and still in love.'
If they don't envy her today, they will when they are divorcing while their kids aren't even in kindergarten yet.
that catholic things mystifys me
Anyway, he was working on an annulment for people who had gotten married just cuz everyone else they graduated with was getting married, with no mature judgement about it, in order to fit in -- and
wanted to think about what would be acceptable grounds for annulment. I suggested fraud, akin to "green card" fraud (immigration fraud, Sprite) because they were just looking for a passport to a certain social status.
wow tough situation
I would go with the fraud suggestion
how long were they married
done and fading out. good night and good luck
(and thanks for the explanation, I will remember that one)
Wurdy, with a compassionate judge -- which my buddy was -- it's easier than you'd think, because a marriage in the face of pregnancy is considered coerced; and lying to the priest who married you about it is considered fraud; and the Church will annul both of those on the grounds that no true adult, informed, freely-formed marriage ever took place. No matter how many kids you have.
Night-night, Joey.
night joey
night joey
Sprite, not EVERY canon judge will go for it, but many will.
bye and wtg, joey
Wurdy, this couple, 3-4 yrs, I think.
About 21 when wed, and about 25 when they looked at each other and thought, "Huh? WHAT? Why am I here?"
my parents were married for 9 years and then my dad decided to go off and have a affair with his secretary (yes, he is a walking cliche) so after that marraige also ended he met and married his third wife
Wurdy, the sec didn't realize that if he'd dump one woman, he'd dump two? Don't mean to be hurtful, but...?
then, since she was catholic, he converted and had his marraige to my mom annuled. i am older now and I get it but boy was I mad back then
told you he was a cliche what made it worse was her name was bambi
Anyway, Dee... did you like your daughter's BF? Or will you be glad he's gone?
and you are not being hurtful this wa sa long time ago
good evening everyone
Wurdy, it always feels like an insult, especially to the kids, to hear (Goodnight, Kier!) that the marriage "never existed" but
hi kier
LOL wurdy, that's too much. Hi kierlex
hello kierlex
But... If the original marriage was induced by pregnancy, that's an automatic annulment.
Or if they (him or her or both) can prove to the "Defender of the Bond" that they didn't have mature intent... OR...
how is the grid tnite? looks hefty!
nah, not in our case....they were high school sweeties....I still dont fully get it, but whatever differences make the world go round
OR... if they had an antenuptial agreement -- that's an automatic annulment, cuz the Church considers it proof that they never were TRULY committed to a lifelong bond. Oh, HS sweethearts, then probably grounds were "lack of mature intent"
oh yeah, the grid, forgot about that lol
It is rather ok, kier, some stupid words, but lots of nice ones. It is a pretty fast grid too.
Me too... Dee? Are you there?
well i am just starting...
sure am
Kier, there's some silly words in the J's... alternate spellings of something that probably came to English from the French.
well, with a guy who marries his sec that he is cheating with named bambi who is btw your basic nightmare, then cheats on her and she cleaned him out took everything left him with a cooler and a hot plate lol
I'll be thinking of your girl tomorrow. Just tell her (from all of us?) she's too good to settle. Waiting is hard, hard, hard, but trying to force a fit is much harder.
wow just desserts
ok, thanks ankh
never settle good things come to those who wait...cliches are cliches for a reason
so true Ank I'll remember that!!
Wurdy, sounds like you think the punishment fit the crime... but it means he couldn't support his kids through college? Or your mom?
:::Bambi? sheesh:::
oh, he paid child support and stuff
told ya basic nightmare
And Dee, always helpful (bet you've already said it), better to split now before there were little ones on the scene.
Yeah, well... shame on him anyway. Dunderhead.
yeah he was a jerk, but he grew up and was pretty terrific later in life
I mostly listened tonight; she wasn't seeking advice yet, just comfort. I have thought for the last several months that something didn't "feel" right... a mom's intuition I think..
I was ecstatic when my mom finally divorced my dad, even though we were poor & he didn't pay child support.
for sure if a split was going to happen, much easier emotionally and financially to do it before marriage
*nods with marpocky*
exactly...
*more nodding here*
people who dont pay child support...have no sympathy for them
we have to kiss a lot of frogs before we meet our prince
Totally agree!
you could always tell her about how your lifelong dream of her becoming a nun is working itself out! ;)
And the warts! the warts!
Dee - Y ou can let her know that yes you talked about her and people in babble land all support her
Lol marpocky - don't think she's open to humor yet.
My hubby's dad has never even seen our daughter, and he lives less than an hour away...
provided you do it when she's in the right frame of mind for a joke
lol
my true love flips between frog and prince quite regularly
Shame on HIM, Dee. shameshameshame!
ty wurdy I will
Well, I worship my Dear One, except for when I want to strangle them. :)
Same here, Dee, my father never saw our kids.
oh volley, that is sad. my dad has only seen my kids a few times and he lives in the same state
He is such a creep. She saw him from a distance at a funeral once, but he didn't even walk over to say hello. Those kind of men irritate me to death!
My parents divorced at 14 years; he died 4 years later, only 39 yrs old. And again, we were happy about it. AND we finally got some support via Social Security -- not much, but a little. Unfortunately, Reagan cut orphans' benefits, so kids these days get no support after 18.
they are the ones that are missing out, Dee. Not the ones they ignore.
How does she feel about it, Dee?
so true
dee - that is ridiculous...but sadly, happens all the time. I have a half brother (that sounds wierd dont even think of him that way) anyway he has never met his dad....my mom pointed him out in home depot once and dthat is that. He has met some of his other half siblings though
Well, yeah, sprite, but... but it's hard not to having a doting grandpa / grandma. So the grandkids DO miss out some. I had the best gramma in the whole world -- not her fault her son was a waste of space.
She adored my hubby's stepdad and my dad, so she had great grandfathers regardless. We were blessed!
I can't even imagine how that brother feels.
Ah, good, no loss then! :)
LOL waste of space = a big fat zero (in my mom's words)
Heh. I had to fight wiht my mother for YEARS before she learned to stop saying "YOUR father" instead of "MY ex-husband." She picked him, I didn't, not MY fault.
some people simply don't care about anything but themselves. i can't identify, but it's out there
he doesnt talk about it. but he is a good young man just finished college and he is awesome. Great athlete and musician and teacher
hey he is your age marpocky
And probably determined to treat HIS kids much better. My dad is the reason my brother & I both chose not to have kids.
my brother that is
Ankh, I know. My mother-in-law died when I was pregnant with my daughter. My father-in-law never bothered about his grandkids and with her missing, did not even pretend to anymore. My father did not care either. Only my mother is grandparent to my kids. And even though she has given me hell from birth till now, I keep contact with her just because of the kids. They love each other.
:::starts humming "Dating Game" theme:::
Darn, Sprite, that stinks. I wish you had nice older friends who could be substitute grandparents. :( Sorry, honey, it must be hard.
people can be so wierd
Er... the humming was for Wurdy's brother and Marpocky!
how...sweet. um, i guess
there are nice older people who would love to see kids depending on how old you are go to a nursing home and visit. My kids love doing that and we hae three grandparents around
Marpocky, she sez he's musical...
I wasnt trying to do a set lol guess I am still tipsy from the days festivities
OH! Marpocky! Sorry! I thought you were a female. A hetero female, to be precise, whoops, sorry.
TEEhee :) i wondered
Thanks Ankh *hug* It really stinks, but at least we have lots of loving people around us who love our kids to bits as well. Not really grandparents, but still great.
::::blushes::::
whoops set up marpocky has a boy color and my brother is a boy not there is anything wrong with anything but my brother is soley into girls
Sprite, are your kids bilingual?
i was wondering when you'd notice the little blue person next to my name
and that, wurdy, your brother and i have in common
DOH! I never, ever noticed the different colors until you pointed them out!
LOL
Mine? No, why should they be?
I have always believed that just because you are related by blood does not make you family. You can "choose" your family, and be surrounded by people who adore you!
English / Dutch?
Dee, I am totally with you.
:::still mortified over gender whoops:::
They are totally Dutch, just as we are, Ankh.
I was just thinking that Marpocky could probably identify better with how he feels since he is the same age.....I , perhaps should go back to the brewery
They are nothing more than genetic donors.
quite alright ankh. fun to play along
boys get a blue handbag on babble.
I totally agree dee
So... are they bilingual, by which I mean, do they speak both languages?
LOL, not a handbag, don't tease me! Little person!
I've been on Babble for months and never caught the pink/blue thing.
No, we all are native Dutch speakers, so nobody is bilingual here. They are taught english at school though, my son started last year. They pick up so fast at that age.
that is ok ankh - you are intent on knowing people and dont need to know gender just their ideals
neither gender nor inclination matters much, as long as you are not in love.
Okay, I'm confused -- Sprite, you're a native Dutch speaker with perfect English, so I'd call you bilingual -- right? Txs, Wurdy.
i don't seem to have a handbag... hi all!
they do look like hand bags!!!!
hi kanga - perhaps you did not check your gender in your profile?
Kanga, true! No little person, no flag!
No, she did, I just looked, Sprite
i've tried... i've tried...
that's very strange
Write to Dr. God down at bottom of page, he'll fix you up.
Good morning/evening all.
The "send them" link -- Hi, Haz!
hey haz
work for drG
hi Haz
You work for Dr G?
(I'm waving to all)
sprite, bilingual simply means you can speak 2 languages. like, dutch and english
And how is Spangle today?
lol, no not at all! I just suggested this is work for DrG, to fix kanga's handbag.
Yeah, Sprite, now I get it.
morning all :)
*agrees with Marpocky defining bilingual* Hi, Annie!
fireworks finally!!! Hi Annie
Spangle is exploring uncharted territory upstairs. There must be something interesting in the waste-paper bin.
Annie doesn't have a little person or a flag, either.
Almost all dutch people are at least bilingual then, but not from birth. We are such a small country that we always had to learn other languages. But schooling starts at about 9 yo, mostly.
congrats, DEEEE!
Morning Annie! But Annie did not fill in the whole profile, I think. Kanga did.
is english the most common taught in schools? or perhaps french or german too?
Yes, I'd heard that about the Netherlands. Hey, what, exactly, is "Flemish" and where is it spoken?
ty ty... well, need to get going. Ty all for your sweet support. Have great fun babbling!
flemish is a belgian dialect
Hang on I'm new to this but will get there
night vmd
yes, I think I can finally go back to bed...get a few hours before the kids start jumping on me
Hugs to all. *Poof*
Flemish, spoken by some Belgians.
Annie, if you click "my account" and fill in your gender and country, and we all refresh, maybe we will see your national flag.
English usually is .... darn, what is the word I need, most schools demand that you learn english. French and german too, at least a couple of years. Some schools teach spanish too.
NITE DEEE!
Mandatory, sprite. Or required.
mandatory is the word sprite
Compulsory, mandatory
flemish is a Belgian LANGUAGE! Not a dialect. Argh!
compulsory perhaps
Yeah, compulsory too.
Thanks :) Will remember.
yes sorry. that's in fact what i meant
So Belgians speak Flemish? They don't speak Belch?
:::runs and hides!:::
There is an eternal language war in Belgium between the Flemish and the French.
i wish the US was a little more forceful in the teaching of foreign languages. we have a smattering of spanish and some french in high school mostly, but we're pitiful compared to most other countries
it's the same in oz, marpocky.
Probably because a huge part of the world speaks english, marpocky. Dutch is pretty rare :)
Ah, well, that helps! I agree with Marpocky. I was pretty fluent in German via high school and exposure as a toddler -- but that was 30 years ago, it's gone now.
The learning of languages in Europe is rather more necessary because of the geography.
it may be a bit lofty, but i'd like to be able to speak 8 or 10 languages conversantly
Sprite, how close is Dutch to Afrikaans? Can you read their newspapers? Understand them when they speak?
Marpocky, go for it. I have friends who can. The canon lawyer, in fact: Latin, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, English, German and something I forget.
To read Afrikaans is easier than to understand it when it is spoken, but I usually can manage.
Polish, maybe? He spent a lot of time in Rome.
i guess i see how geography affects it. oz and new zealand both speak english, so there's no big country nearby with another language. here, spanish and french cover pretty much the western hemisphere save brazil. europe is swimming in languages
Go for it, marpocky. With every new language it gets easier, because you will see underlying structures much easier.
With German, I can *almost* read Afrikaans, sorta kinda -- i can get a general sense of what they're talking about, but that's it.
It amazes me Basque still exists.
in addition to english, i know varying amounts of spanish, russian, and japanese, and would like to also learn french, dutch, german, italian, portuguese, polish, mandarin, and arabic
German is close to Dutch, but Afrikaans is much closer.
feeling inadequate here...
OOOOH! Dear One started Mandarin out in California -- no use for it here in Virginia, though.
Kanga, don't. At my age, my German is gone and I have only a desperately small spattering of Spanish -- adonde esta el banyo?
why on earth should you feel that way, kanga? We all excel in our own things and ways! You do too.
lol Anhk - that's probably like "papa fume un pipe"
at least i can spell inadequate...
and a smattering of tok pisin! (language of my birthplace, papua new guinea)
wow!
adonde está el baño (or where is the bathroom for that matter) is so much easier than saying dansei-yoo no o-tearai wa doko desu ka
Yes, but that's the most important phrase in any language!
Of course, crossing your legs and bouncing up and down is pretty universal, but lacks dignity and politesse
but will induce fast help, usually
but if it gets you what you need...
boy you all are full of energy and chat tonight =)
And it is much politer than saying "Do you point me the bathroom now or do I wet your carpet?"
which is what a friend of mine said after having to listen to endless stories on the rebuilding of the house, when he asked for the bathroom.
i once had to work out the greek to explain my daughter had had an accident on the sheets... (she was 3 months old)
that's terrible, kanga. Was she okay?
Naaah, Kier, I'm tired... this is my last hurrah. :)
"An accident" as in a full diaper, or "an accident" like fall down go boom?
she was fine... just a mistime with the nappy... but hard to explain from a greek phrasebook
that's diaper...
ah, ok, still tough but not as urgent :)
Sprite, maybe you read "street" for "sheet"?
I did - only see it now! Thanks.
I even see phantoms when not working the grid :(
Your mother's heart led you astray. :)
as usual, LOL
Ladies, (and Gent, Marpocky), I'm whupped... this is goodnight. :)
night, Ankh, sweet dreams *hug*
night ankh
good night and good luck
:::yawns mightily and then *POOF!*:::
night ankh
Thank you all for the chat!! :)
((Sprite)) ::and then gone::
kier, your clouds are incredible!
thanks sprite! i didn't actually see it happen tho =)
wouldn't that be something, to actually see it happen! I think I'd kneel, really! :)
but it did happen near here (if you read the national geographic link in my profile)
kier are you in the cda area?
I enjoyed the chat very very much today :) Thanks all, for the chat and the clues and all the fun and sharing. Have a great day/night/whatever!
i am south of cda marpocky
later sprite!
Bye sprite.
i am in moscow, about 75 miles south
oh ok. i've not been quite that far south around there. steptoe is probably the closest
is moscow frequently out in the pasture with pascow?
ahh, well that isn't too far away!
well most people pronounce it Mos-coe.
well my babbling compadres, i cannot keep my eyes open so i am off to bed =) babbalicious!
night kier
night kier, i'm off too, after just one more word...
it's always just one more word
i know *hangs head*
is there a list out yet
annie lickety's list is up
new to this so where do I find it
down under "friends of babble" there are links. one of them says "lickety's babble clues"
Open a new window with babble in it, scroll down to Friends of Babble, bottom left of page, click on Lickety's babble clues. Reduce it in size and you can have Lickety's list beside your own words. Enter your words in Lickety's list and it will place them automatically.
Thanks for that fed up with struggling here
down to 99 left so i'm off to spend some time with the man... see you later, all (good luck annie!)
bye kanga
fireworks. i can sleep now!
Well done - sleep well.
I don't know how anyone can sleep straight after playing - if I don't stop at least an hour before I go to be all I do is play the game in my head
I know what you mean - I used to play later into the night than I do now.
clue for of 6, 27 please

Ty haz
You're welcome.

That's good, Buttonman.
Hi - back from movies - Dream Girls - not bad
Hello lynxxx.
need a clue for the first da 4/7 please
da4.7 offensive word for an Italian immigrant
da4/7 - term of derision for foreigner, esp Spanish/Italian - add 'leave'.
thanks
my first da4/7 is aussie slang for unfashionable person, or the bits of pooey wool on a sheeps bum
Haz - is there a ga bird in this grid?
That's the last da4/7,
thanks haz - didnt even try that, didnt think it would be there
I don't see any birds, there are reptiles....
There is another da4.7 after the sheeps bum one
You're right, there is.
well da** it ! one might say
this one is getting to that point lynxxx :)
Good morning everyone
hi eva
Hi Eva
Good morning Eva.
es 6/18 PLEASE
got through the first 194 quickly, but am missing 2 8's and 12 7's so there are obviously some long patterns I'm still not seeing.
es6/18 - relating to home ownership or what's left after death
es6.18 - your executor wil look after your es****
i feel your pain eva -- 95 left and still missing all 8s and 10 7s
and usually the longer ones are easier to see
got it
And Buttonman, add a g to find a word relating to length of time to grow a baby
there is 2 ne 8's - I have one if anyone wants it
ne 7/36 --- opposite of positive: *****ive... and not off .... plural
sounds good to me lynxxx
have those lynxx, but haven't been able to find the no8 yet
no8 - think of boxes of chocolates
oh darn - the neutral bomb, i should have seen that
Go BabbleR
ne 7 (no.2) -- same first six and add know *ight from wrong and plural
Or add the cancer stick ending to the ear-affecting no5/10
nosefat? What you create by eating too many chocolates?
LOL Eva!
It means flavoured with hazelnuts, also used as a term for a cut of meat.
ty lynxx and haz
got it! Thanks!
You're welcome.
se 7-- Rome and the US had/have these representatives
plural for the 8
TY Haz - I've been trying to use that 'little' ending!
thanks babble! got the 8's now
That's the only time it appears, lynxxx.
ty babblerabble
Oh! OK, my name is Lynette - just to use it then!
is your name really Lynette?? I've gotten so used to thinking of you as a sleek forest cat
Yes it is, but have been Lyn since a teenager. and so not sleek though!
most of us have been on a slippery non-sleekness slope for quite some time
Okay, I shall take myself and the dog off to get some fresh air. Then my daughter's car is due for MOT later today (inspection for roadworthiness) and I have to get it steam-cleaned underneath. That means driving it up and reversing off a ramp. I don't like doing it very much, but I will NOT be like some other women who step out of the car to let the man drive it up. I'm no feminist but you have to take a stand somewhere. Hope to see you again tomorrow!
but in babbleland you are sleek
bye haz
later haz
Bye Haz. Thanks Eva - I'll cherish the illusion
BBS just having some late dinner
bye lynxxx

hi sugar, hodag, scrabbler, bloodaxe... yes, no school today. and nice, since it's a largish grid again.
da4/7 + est should be a word...in the southern US it is anyway.
Aha, I see, Grace
EF 6 ? please.
and when she's walking, just like a samba.. HI all, have been lurking and slurping up the fab clues. Great grid today!
I sure like the new "profile" page it is much eaiser to read
hey Aloy
snob, gramma
It has changed, hodag?
ef 6 = ef + fe 4/7 One of Spiro Agnew's favorite words
ef 6 worn out or feeble
Don't call me names.Why I oughtta....to the moon Alice
A nice full page across the screen Scrabbler.
lol, gramma.. might have steered you wrong, but that is what ef6 conjures in my brain
Hey whatever. I got it. ty all
11 left but I only have one 8 so far. What do they begin with pls? (I have no8)
I can't figure out fe4,7
er...that's 111 left!
ne8x2
scrabbler, the 2 fe4's I have are a Greek cheese and a grand party

fool
you can also add the superlative to that one Dorens
oops
thanks jen... that is a weird one. (who you calling fool?)
I know I am a fool, hodag.
ES's ? please.
hodag, where is the fool?

is there anybody out there?
yup, everyone is buried in the grid methinks
Fireworks!! Bed before midnight - whooppee. But I wish they would put shorter grids during the working week. I had to go to work this morning before I had time to finish that grid.
20 mins of silence is very rare
I'm here. Just dropped in for ten mins. Anike, very
well done! (my words whizzed off before I'd finished)
wahoo, bravo to Anike!!!
good job anike
Ty Hydra. Can I clue anything before i go?
well done Anike
what a beautiful horse, scarydeb
thank you hes my baby
Is he a thoroughbred? My sister has just bought a horse.
he's pure bred Arab the pic was taken on his 2nd birthday last summer
Fabulous. I bet he moves like a dream.
Anike, you still there? If so, could I have a clue to the very last word, the to7?
stunning - but I would say that. I bred him, he is identical to his mum, I'll put a photo of both up in a day or 2
Hi scary - just thinking how to clue that
How many horses do you have?
to 7/32 anyone?
Great minds think alike,Minty. I just asked for help on that one, too :)
Have you got the to 4/4 before that? If so then to 4/4 + ***m & eve
sounds like a mexican dish to me, minty... homonym of cooked bread + a woman's name
just the 2. I have bred him to amateur race which his mum did (without much success) but the breeding is good and he has 2 half brothers out there winning
Minty - to7 begins with to4 and is commonly found on menus at Mexican restaurants.
ty everyone
I can only think of tortilla and it's not that.
think browned bread - a vowel
sounds like tossed + ***m ( first man)
stuck on an5.14....
Got it!!!!
an 5.14 = worry, distress, hand-wringing
End rhymes with 'harder'
an 5/14 anguish
an 5/14 - what Minty said
Good morning, Babblers! How are you doing?
ahh, ty minty..

freshlly grated nutmeg as well... my indulgence, I got a great semiautomatic espreso machine.
sounds yummy... pour me some!
Oh don't, Dorens. I would have to get on the bus and go into town for a decent coffee. My tongue is hanging out.
not me...found an old picture of me in that junk room, i think i might be inspired
if it is that much trouble, hydra... get yourself one of these machines....(pouring for alo and trying to get it across the pond for hydra)

Gramma, add opp of off to your exam.
(And pl)
Any ideas for last se 6/18?
Add vowel to end of exam, and Latin pl.
sorry minty. not yet
My last 6/18 is the upper house of US legislaive branch. Don't know whether there are others after it.
Yes, Vicuna, 2 more after it and I'm stuck on the 3rd
Minty - probably the se6 that means bristly. Not using a list though, so can't be sure. se + anagram of what you have 10 of on your feet.
se + large weight ... and its plural
ty every1 ;)
Dorens, I have that but ty anyway

interesting note about this grid: there are 10 "4-squares" ((2 by 2 tiles) that form a total of at least 18 words - possibly more.
Dorens, did you get the masculine name?
yup - i had that.. am missing a couple of pesky je's and ne's
got the n's.. now just je's

Got it.
the man's name is the one that we can accept in plural but not single.. doees that help?

ty
Okay guys, last two. na5/12 and la6/27, need help, monkeys really tired..........
thats the 1st na 5/12, pls
na5/10 (no na5/12) - part of South Africa, or relating to birth
la6/27 - resembles the accompaniment to myth, but spelt with a different first vowel
la6/27 - also looks like a call for a finish to delay
Should have got that.tx haz, I lived there for 30 years *blushes furiously*
Ah well, we'll tell no-one else.
and FIREWORKS............... thanks so much for all the help everyone!
Well done!
tx haz
And time for me to nip out and do some errands. Back later.

bye haz and sugar... h'lo whoever is left...

I'm here...somewhat.
hi bunny
im here for a moment, fingers freezing!
hi wyrd
Afternoon Babblers!
hi lori :)
hi Lori!
ave our first official snowstorm of winter happening, school cancelled, kids playing in the snow, and I have a decadent weekday afternoon of Babbling. Yea!
nice.
i think we're skipping winter here this year :(
It's pretty sweet, minus the snow part.... :( A word total please?
hurshy, I'd be glad to send our temps your way. -1 yesterday morning
269
259
not much better this morning
the snow is the best part! what's the point of it being cold if you don't have the pretty snow?
we have some of that too.
hursh, we were 75 yesterday, dropping to 35 this afternoon! insane!
-1 in Farenheit? (Canadian, stuck with celsius) Brrrr, in Farenheit!
We are iced in, roads frozen, about 10 degfrees with the wind chill.
same here bunny
but you've got power, right? those poor folks who are iced in with no power . . . jeezomeez
it's a very weird season.
yeah, losing power when its freezing is unthinkable torture
that is so true
We have ours, it was off and on for a bit, there is so much ice frozen on the lines. Thank goodness we didn't lose it! We'd have frozen.
-13 and I don't mind looking at snow in a picture
we had that about 15 years ago--had no power for 3 days--the worst was after the sun set . . . no street lights, pitch black dark--besides being cooold
We're rural, and have always had wood heat. The power being off is a nuisance, nothing more, fortunately.
that happened to me about 3 years ago Uneaixoise, and we had never lost power in our little town for more than an hour
babble, you can keep those temps ok, please don't send them my way. I'm cold enough
coldest time of winter and we lost it for 4 days
So, is the word total 259 or 269? :-)
wyrd, I had friends who live in a very wooded area where tons of trees came down and they had no power for TWO WEEKS . . . and had to buy a second chainsaw--wore out the first one!
259
259
Our oven is propane, I'd have hung som eblankets and turned that puppy on high!
After White Juan, the winter hurricane in Halifax, I had friends who had no power for 6 days. It was terrible for their neighborhood.
camping gear always saves our butts
Thank ye.
it's really tough when you have pets too--I could have stayed with friends but couldn't take my dogs!
The kids have spray bottles of colored water, and are snow painting their fort.
how fun!!!
hi everyone, happy monday :)
hey, raelite!
G'd afternoon rae.
Bleh . .
hi une! hi lori and tor
Hi rae
LOL, I take it tor ha sthe Monday bleh's?
...and tor.
hi bunny!
gate
frick!
our heat hasn't worked since 16 NOV
Why? Are you freezing your tail off?
this morning it was ffffff-f-f-f-f-f-freezing...they should be coming this week with the new compressor
wow raelite, where are you?!
good morning btw!
it's hot water heat and the last big storm we had shorted the compressor...we're in BC on the island where it's unusually cold right now
g'mornin to you too!
dang! you did freeze then!
I think it was 12 degrees in the house this morning when I got up
Why has iot taken so long to have it repaired?
no pets or house plants, eh?
no way!!!! that what temp. it was outside here!
Wow bunny, that can't be pleasant. Hope it's repaired soon.
we have pets who curl themselves into the tightest little balls, the system is over 50 years old
lori its raelite not bunny!
they had to track down the man who installed it and get the name from him (he's about 85 years old)
Oh not me! Rae's heat is down for almost two months!
I knew that......... (sorry rae)
he's not the one fixing it is he!
no probs! I'm the ice cube from canada!
Blonde moment alert!
its 12 degrees and they just canceld our freeze warning..dont those weather people have a thermometer?
he would propbably ruin it more!
lol, no...we have a hot water heat specialist coming in to install it and fix all the valves
rae, your pipes don't freeze??
good thing!
You know, Wal-Mart sells space heaters...
walmart sells everything! LOL
no it's not that cold out
it's warming up today, snow tonight, then back to normal 7-9 degrees
gotta run--BBL--happy babbling!
our house actually has exposed earth in the basement...that's how warm it is usually
My house thermostat says 71 and I'm freezing! 7-9 is pretty friggin cold yo me! I guess you adapt to where you live, I'm a summer gal.
Bye Une'
lol..I like fall...71 is a good temp though...I'll take anything at the moment!
I do too really, spring and fall. Not to hot or cold, plants aren't burnt up or frozen over. Kids are in school.
yeah, I like it when the kids go back to school too :)
Later une
featest
Dangit! I need an alarm that goes off when I type in the chat box! Sorry!
you said another word bunny lol
I should not chat, but I need help with the ef 6/36. Please.
ef 6/36 --- often paired with "snob"
oft associated with gay men (not that there's anything wrong with that...)
Thanks ya'll.
ok, so, i have denim, joke, jump, 4 french subway tokens, planes, average guys, and quickly writes down. what mysterious 2 j words am i missing?
You need something that helps out with keeping roofs on.
oh, of course! thanks for that
Plus a jo4/9
End the note with a vowel, rather than a plural
great, thanks, done with J!
No problem.
you're finished, i assume?
Yes, I finished this morning.
lovely, congrats.
i'm doing really well, found 3 of the 8's and a whole lot of sevens all by myself!
It all seems a loooong time ago.
!
morning alll... total count for today?
It's a nice grid, not many strange words.
yeah, days can be like that. 259
259 words
htanks, haz, hurshy!
my length count of what's left is rather pretty right now. 12-5-12-5-1
hmm, found some g4's and messed it up
now i need to find some sixes to make it nice again
Just got back from a job interview. It went well
great! what kind of job?
Social Worker in a skilled nursing facility, I have done this type of work before. But must say I have been enjoying my time off
Our lights are flickeruing! Power might go off. Evrything weighed down with ice and lots of fallen trees and branches. Roads are still ok since rain stopped
oh onge i know it is awful over on this side too
but gosh it looks pretty
oops inge not onge
Our daughter flew back to Las Vegas this a.m. and i dreaded the drive to the airport, which turned out to be a piece of cake
Hallo all. Hows it going?
it didnt really start out this way until after 3ish
hi spanner
Hello spanner!
Hello, spanner.
Hi everyone!
how did your visit with your daughter go inge i know you were looking forward to it
yes, our entire yard looks like a glass museum.
Morning
It is pretty, from THIS side of the window!
the visit went great. She kept freezing though. She is totally acclimatized to Las Vegas temps (which happened to be 28 ths morning at 4 )
In england we talk about the weather, but you guys really have it!!
when hubby and i went to vegas it was 109 we couldnt go anywhere
os6/18?
It was hot when we went...there were days when I thought I was going to melt
I can take 109 as long as it isn't to humid. We had a neighbor who moved from Iowa I think it was, I didn't see him leave the house all summer long.
os 6/18 - add to pilfer
I dont like sticky heat either - its why ive never been to florida
os 6/18 = o + take without asking
thanks babble
ty bunny
high humidity bothers me more since I passed age 60. have never been to Fl or Hawaii and only once to California. Now that I could go there in the winter, I don't feel like travelling anymore. Must have boated or flowen to Europe (Germany espeically) some 20 times.
humidity in hawaii is nothing...there's always a breeze
I found california and florida ok inge Did the california highway, maybe the heat is worse inland?
Sorry I meant hawaii
I have no urge to go to Hawaii (I don't fly), but you're not missing out on Cali or FLorida. It's so hard to breathe and you always fill sticky.
I'm sensitive too and it never bothered me when in Hawaii...it was always perfect
I cant type and read at the same time!!!
*feel
you have to go to Hawaii, bunny...it's the most unbelieveable place..you can always cruise there
I can barely breathe and read at the same time, don't feel bad.
I loved hawaii, and there is always a breeze. My nephew married an hawaiian girl
I don't do boats either...
Any clues for the jo 5,20?
Just found it - thks anyway
a cruise ship isn't a boat, it's a floating city with malls, restaurants, parks
Dont you just love cruising
I've only been once, to Hawaii, but it was amazing. My parents are doing a circle hawaii in may from san diego
And lots of strange people. I'm VERY claustrophobic, water makes me freak too. Not a good mix for me. When they build a bridge, then I'll go!
lol bunny!
I did a cruise of the Baltic sea in 2001, the other ships were crossings as a student to Germany, returning to USA at agge 14, and going to Germany at age 20 mos.
LOL
I guess I'm just used to "boats" there aren't any bridges to the island here, you have to take a ferry or a plane
We are talking of doing one to st petersburg, copenhagen etc. We are hopefully going with some people we met on our last cruise
On one of those huge cruise ships you may never get to ssmell the sea air. I dont care for those cities on water
sounds like a blast, spanner...would love to do the med someday
I can do short ferry rides.
Have a balcony!!! LOL
it's about 90 mins, bunny
We have met some great people on cruises, and all americans, because we like the american cruise ships..
Nope, looks like we'll never meet! It's not the boat I'm scared of, it's the water.
I"ll probably never get to go...I can't leave the continent for more than 2 days right now...hawaii is ok, but not europe
hi Peri, I
aw bunny...I"ll come visit you!
Hi peri, I
bunny well all have to visit you then,,If you cant see the world, let the world come to you...
rae, you must do the med. Go to Civitavecchia, and visit rome...it will blow your socks off
Hi peri i am in a tense mood off and on with this babble and on the phone jitter jitter babble babble
That's why I have the internet.

thanks bunny! and thanks for the welcome back inge! i am back, and resettling into playbabble.
woo-hoo feather! :-)
hello inge, just saw your post. the concert was lovely. Bach was nice, a couple of the Brandenburgs (but so overused); the vivaldi was marvelous!

would be fun to have a tap dancer add percussion!

well our concert included Ravel' s Bolero, talk about overused!!!
fo 5 is like the jo 5
f like an h 5 would be "to lift" a pirate word? ho*** away!
thank you!
rhymes with "damp" word or a supporting beam in a house, the jo5/20
fo 5/16 -- fo + one who has an ism

:) thank you sweetie :)
Thanx stid ..
I was thinking this morning about how much less "optimistic" I am in the last week since I can't get outside. Between the cold and the owie foot, I think I am missing my fresh air allotment.
but stid, look closer, my icon is really very happy
I'm grumpy cause I didn't get much sleep . .
true, she's very sweet hurshy! kittens are so adorable... I wish I weren't so allergic to cats.

O! what a thief will do, for a loaf of bread, for a pocketbook! O! he'll stand on his head, or wade through the gook!

Angelsong... the word searches list is REALLY long! is the new one at the bottom?
thanks stid, mmmmm, why can't you eat it
Stid: Word Lists for Word Games.
It's wheat. I am not allergic to gluten, but apparently one of the other proteins in wheat really gets me.
Hi I am new to this game, would someone please explain what the numbers in the Tile Stats and word stats mean? Sorry if I'm being dim!
number of words you have found in that tile/number of words there are total that start in that tile
and in the second set, same deal but with length
you will only have those stats for 2 weeks, unless you go pro.
thanks Angelsong :-)
good evening everybody:) am at work so in and out of grid, welcome to the game AnnB:)
Hi Jean. Welcome AnnB
AnnB: Welcome to Babble! Tile Stats and Word Stats are explained in the online Babble Resource Guide. The link is in the yellow section on the bottom left of the Babble page.
wow angel! that is one tremendous find! {{{angelsong}}} what would we do without you?
Thanks everyone, now I can see just how badly I am doing, hope to get better with practice!
AnnB: also check out Angelsong's Resource Page... http://www.freewebs.com/angels ong/
hi jean!
Stid: you like it, I guess?
and the t-shirts are fab. i have a first edition. :)
ann, the number one thing you need to know is this: do not question why certain words count and certain other words don't. the enable dictionary is inexplicable, and to ponder these questions is the path to madness.
Of which I am proof ..
Angelsong, I think it's wonderful, and am going to print it out for my great-aunt who plays scrabble and doesn't use computers...
i think we're all proof...
I'm 80 proof! (hic)
Angelsong, just checked out your Babble Page, Wow! what a wonderful resource
mad-one, mad-two, mad-three... LOL
um, so i guess the number two thing you need to know is, we may be a bit on the weird side...
ROFL! hurshy speaks truth!
speak for yourself hurshy :-)
Peri, thank you! It's a work in process, and I am really pleased with it.
i said "may"
I almost forgot! I wanted to take a photo of something near my parents' house... back later all! (hoping it's still there...)
need help with ne7/28 words please
most tidy
not one of my strongest traits :) maybe that is why I didn't find it, thanks hurshy
if you can be apostate, why can't you be postate? (see, there i go, path to madness)
i could have sworn spiro counted before
*sings* dancing with myself

good morning, everyone -- does anyone know if Anj found the grisoft avg free link last night? --- I found it again.
Hi Cybernan
ty hursy
Mom - go for the bigger one - you won't have to reposition your work so much. What a pity you can't try it first - a little expensive
hello cybernan:)
oh and CHS, there are four ne7 (at least.)
The Daylight company has direct order and I believe it was about $30 some dollars
have 4 ne 7's and 2 ne 8's
same here.
and i only miss one N that could be NE.
i have the turning ro7, clue for the other plz
Mom - That seems quite cheap - I paid about USD 50 for mine. I bought the clip on one as it worked best for my situation - and more portable as well
reddish, CHS
let me double check that then... brb
ro 7: pinkish
ty hursh......

be quiet and let me study, i have a **** ** trig functions tomorrow!
so that leaves one 7 that the three of us have not identified - perhaps its plural is the 8 i don't have...
ty, hurshy
in which case it must start with A, S, or T
(if A, the right hand A)
only have 2 8's -- the ne's -- what is the third that you have, hurshy?
se8
i don't think so, hursh, cos my 8's are.....ne8/50, ne8/50, no8/40, & se8/40
a plural?
no8... hmmm
yes cnan
hursh - the no8/50= a sound with a feminine ending.....
mmm -- better find the se 7 first!
ah, thanks.
(right hand S cnan)

THat is the one on the link I sent. I'll check into shipping and order it. Thank you for all your help.
More often than not, they usually are. I should just not even bother
what was that weird alt sp of st5/10 we had one day? i thought it was stegn
Sounds like 'stain' hurshy
Mom - Hope it works for you. If not, I am sure you wouldn't have any issues on-selling it. Useful for many purposes
i know what it IS, i just can't remember what the weird alt spelling was, because it isn't stegn, it won't take that.
It looks llike it will be just what I need.
missing an n from the top corner -- any guesses?
Walk along a country l---, hurshy

Hi all don't get the clue for the ta7/32
Peri - if you don't get my fabric one, then BabbleR's @2.10 is good
stid, is it a little more helpful?
lynxxx got the fabric one :) didn't understand Babblers clue, are they for the same word?
They are Peri. There is no ta7.32 - it was asked for incorrectly
Okay I was going in circles looking for a ta7/32 when I already had the ta7/52, bad BabbleRabble sending me on a wild goose chase :)
just popping in to say HI! HAVE SO MANY TO GET AND SO LITTLE TIME!!! concentrate!!!!
need 5 more 7's and 74 more other words
You saying I am bad for tryijng to help with a clue, periwinkle?
po7/40 please
well you had me confused Babble when you clued a ta7/32 and there isn't one.
Peri - BabbleR's was a great clue - he was just responding to a clue requested by using the point value asked for - even though it was wrong!
po 7/40 = an letter must have po***** on it in order to be mailed
don't worry, peri, I won't bother cluing you
thanks sukee
Are you upset with me Babble? If so I don't know why, I was confused by the point value that is all, I appreciate your clues
Babble Rabble my post at 2:20 was typed with a smile at the end
the comments had humor for a tone, not literal. more like irony/sarcasm.
sorry, was deep in a blog... yes Angelsong, I think it is wonderful. Much easier for me to pick out the ones I use frequently, and easier to find ones that others suggest as well!
besides peri's known for timing not negativity. like finding her own words moments after requesting a clue. it's her gift. and iconic. as in "i pulled a peri"
thanks smaller :-)
easier to maintain, also, stid. it's win-win.
se 6/36 pls
se6.36 compound - to start a journey
ty lynxxx

ad + boy's name
am I being thick or are the na6's, 7's and 8's easy please?
dachef - are we talking about the same word? are there two?
well, they are ne's - that might help

has anyone seen mousey?
hello all! I'm new to this and feel a little at sea. Can anyone tell me how you know how many words of each length etc. there are ? I just upgraded to 'pro' (something of a misnomer for me!) and I don't see any difference to before. Thanks!
welcome cadanam
thanks hodag :)
hi cadanam, welcome!
Hello cadanam! If you hadn't passed the 2-week trial period when you went pro you wouldn't notice any difference except that you now have a flag and an icon and a profile. If you hadn't gone pro you would have lost the tiles and the number of words to find and such. For help, scroll down to Friends of Babble and go to AngelSong's link. For the 2-letter start to words, go to LicketySplit's link. Have fun!
cadaman - the biggest diff when you go pro is that the tile stats show you how many words you haven't found. Sigh. Anyway - welcome but beware! This stuff is addictive!
hello gramm and thanks jillibus - that's a great help! Unfortunately Dachef, your advice comes a little late as I'm already burning the midnight oil babbling :)
welcome to the addiction cadanam ( :
cadanam - wait till you wake up on the keyboard! You know you've got it bad when you print off the tile stats and take it to work. And whatever anyone else tells you, the drugs dont work.
babblers are great cluers too, if you get stuck, just ask ( :
lol dachef ( :
ok back into the grid for me, I have 54 to go

jili - I wish! I just checked out that site - I'm ashamed to say that I never heard of him. I have studied English at length, but this is a new name for me. I take it he is quite a figure on the other side of the pond?
Well, The Scarlet Letter is pretty well known as are many of his other works but maybe American Lit is not a big focus in the UK?
Anyway, they're a good read

i keep forgetting there is more than one of those letters
Bye Stid, was in and out today. Bye Helen and Dispatch
Stid- I've been job hunting/ getting over holiday madness- How are you?
Oh, and BTW, Hugh Laurie just won the golden globe for lead actor in a TV series for "House". Yay!
man, job hunting and holidays? that IS mad, abe! LOL we're coping... just as one kid's adolescence seems to be smoothing out, the other one's is getting into gear!
bye mom, Hi everyone else. Can I get help with the ef 6/36 pls?
awesome hugh!!!! he's such an amazing jerk, i love watching him
complex charactor he portrays
*swoon* Hugh Laurie!
crud. now i can't figure out the REAL way to spell the word i messed up.
Featherbee- He's amazing, and giving a really funny speech
ef 6/36: too feminine, usually used for males
ditto - swoon!
the ta, feather? TA + double + estimated time of arrival
no, the charachter, charactor, character, whatever it is
Stid- gotta love adolescence. I'm going to be working with kids, so I will soon be surrounded...
ER, feathor! *evil grin*
so you got a new job abe! teaching, or -- ?
hehe, thanks! it was one of those times that once i spelled it wrong, i couldn't see it right
Subbing/ ass't teaching. I'm awaiting approval from two Boards of Ed
4 left - looking for te7 and to7
I do that (with increasing frequency as I age)... try to ignore it!
hope it comes through for you, abe, at least in our state, subs and assistant teachers are in short supply!
te 7 is a plural of the te 6 --- exam pending
we have to wait three weeks for a new "House"
to 7 is a "mexican" food, like a taco, only served flat usually
Stid- Same around here; that's what everyone says. It's hard to get t hru all the red tape and actually get into a school.
Thnx for the ef, Stidmama. I've been trying for ages to come up with a combination, with no luck...
i'm excited about idol tomorrow. it will help pass the time until lost comes back.
I am totally "lost" when it comes to most current TV shows... LOL the only ones I watch regularly are Numbers and Dr. Who -- I watch House only when I can handle the intensity, which hasn't been at all lately
i've not been watching anything at all since lost took the hiatus
Idol starts tomorrow? wow. I'm mainly a "House" girl, along with home design shows
i'm mad i missed the scrubs episode that was a take off on house
I am not getting the TE 7, probably because I don't get the TE 6...
tx nobs & stid - last one to go!
oh, and i'm done!!!!
YAY feather!
go dan go!
Congrats to Featherbee!!!

i should specify...quick way...one that i don't have to type each word?
oh yuck!!! when lickety comes on tonight, i'm going to ask him to come up with a program that bypasses the double entry!
