ty Fran
hello all you psychobabblers!
hi kier
hi kier sprite & eveyone I missed!
mark-do you want me to call back
So far I have 2 sa/7's,and 1 sh/7
hi kier!
feeling real psycho today kier. Hello
oh sprite! 10 K words!
hey Dee
Did I ever mention I hate K words?
I also have 5 d/7's
hey, i take offense to that, sprite =)
speaking of psycho, i was watching "the watcher" the other day kier.
K's are done and so am I! niters, everyone!
oh, how was it Fran? I've only seen it once and that was before i was somewhat obsessed with keanu
flip
lol - ok kier, I make an exception for every babbler with a K-name, as long as it isn't a valid babble word ;)
OK FOR THE RECORD I AM NOT SAYING KEANU IS THE BEST ACTOR IN THE WORLD.
night kier
i just watched parts of it kier, typical keanu
nite jillibus
hmm, sidenote isn't a word
does anyone know how many in this cube?
235
thanks for that sidenote mania
ty kier
jili - i recognized copernicus right away - i visited his very narrow house on a very, very old street in torun
{{{sprite}}} HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I don't think I'
I don't think I'll start the grid tonight, just wanted to know what tomorrow would be like...
hey stid!
hey stidmama! *very big hug* All the best for you and yours too!
hi stid
hi hk!
thanks! Are you finally getting some winter weather? I know that Britain is being hit rather hard today...
hi Angb!
Hi stid
well i suppose i should start babbling and stop chattering
in7
Nope, no winter here, just eternal autumn. We have rain, rain, rain, storm, rain and some more rain.
hi Tiny! lovely flower (carnation? peony?)
ooh. we're back to rain after a week of snow and ice. I much prefer rain! :-)
oh -- rose. very beautiful!
ed7
it is still in the 10s and 20s here. BRRRRRR. But it beats RAIN, in my opinion
thanks hugs! had the base, didn't think to extend it. *smack to the forehead*
has anyone esle seen the snow in california??..how bizarre
want to go for -10?
I'd love some snow and ice, preferably with subzero temperatures during the day and a nice, sharp winter sun to go with it.
okay, I am not making any sense at all. going to hit the sack. See you-all soon, I hope... *laughing at kierlex... but you're used to dry and cold!*
no nan, we do NOT want to go for -10!
later stid!
oh man, it rains here way more than i am comfortable with!
What I don't like is that the ed7 is valid, but the ad7 is not.
gnite stid, sweet dreams of historical figures
sweet dreams all! *disappears in a huge yawn*
night stidmama!
yay! -- greyed the k box!
good nite stid
good night stid
must take care of my kids for a little bit, back soon.
we have had 15 major storms and ONE full day of sun since Halloween. Snow is still on the ground although melting but more is forecast for tomorrow. Bah.
ooh nan, i'm missing one
jillibus are you on teh coast side of BC?
by the way I LOVE the name Jackson...
forecast here is for snow also jilli -- ugh!
later sprite!
Forecast here is for 2 weeks of sun - a bit of a worry
nan -- who is your historical figure?
never mind Jilli - the snowdrops will soon be bursting through
Handel
bach?
oh, well, i was close, NOT
Oh what is the theme?
favorite historical figure angb
love your choice of Eleanor Rossevelt, flosey -- she addressed us at McGill at a convocation -- what an inspiring person
for example, i historically favor keanu's figure
Whoa - that could be hard
where does one find the theme? i saw earlier babbler had it in his info
Roosevelt (too tired tonight)
kier - you crack me up!
oh how I would love to have heard her speak in person
marpocky, "her" info, different babbler
marp - yes - babbler keeps track of the icon themes, you can also email her with your own suggestions
there's a link on the right side of lickety's clue pag
hk and jilli, great icons as usual
oh right. her. sorry.
jili heard elanor roosevelt give a speech - the closest i got to her was once working at roosevelt high school here in chicago
ya'll are so creative. i can't decide on a favorite so i went with my standby.
dumb di6, i've never seen this spelling, but i guess i shouldn't be surprised.
Marpocky -- you can get the Icon Themes from Lickety's page (on the right) or if you put Babbler in My Friends you can look it up easily. BTW, Babbler is a she, Lickety is a he and MrPresident is a she. :D
ty fran - & yours informative as always
thanks jilli! and others
kier - you're so funny! yeah, i hear ya, i have trouble picking a 'favorite' too, but this is one i really, really like
Helen -- I love M. Faberge -- as I said, there are so many great historical figures it's so hard to choose just one
okay, i looked up the di6 and it makes sense now.
Up dated my icon
right you are jili!
very cool angb
en7
ang - excellent choice!
A real gentleman and very humble. As well as being famous in NZ if not further afield.
Angb -- good choice, and a Kiwi too!
hugs, you are on fire tonight!
Thanks fran for your icon - didn't know magellan went that far
It's a good grid tonight
ok, i finally decided on someone more 'appropriate' =)
2 x da7
down to 85 -- have to leave some for tomorrow's entertainment! Good night, all :)
Jilli - I would have to have a kiwi. But copernicus is a great choice - turned the world upside down LOL
night nan!
Nan why did you chose handel?
fran - when we had a litter of puppies, i named one of them magellen, cause i could never find him, he was always 'exploring' something in the basement (like under the couch or behind the bookshelf)
nan -- you still haven't said who your choice is -- or did I miss it?
very nice kier! except i wasn't complaining about keanu!
good nite nan")
jilli, it's Handel
that's so cute hk!
Thanks, Fran -- I wonder why
helen, that's cute about the puppy named magellan. we named a little kitten 'clark' for the same reason (after lewis & clark)
i sure hope he wasn't killed by the Filipinos too.
i can use my keanu icon tomorrow =) and i mean use in only the most G-rated sense
lol kier
Helen -- one of our Dane litteres contained a pup who kept leaping off things and we called him Evel (Knievel) -- his new owners didn't understand and didn' t like thename.
maniac - thanks for the 2nd da7
100 - 1 -7, no 8's & no 9's !
that's cute jilli, some people have no sense of humor
I used to have this sweet but psychotic cat who would zoom around the house 90 mph... I called her Mario (Andretti). People always called her "him".
lol jili - that's a good one
wow hk, that was fast
we named a cat 'Mrrrp' once because he didn't meow, he Mrrrp'ed
not that fast at all - 71 - 4's, 24 - 5's, 5 -6's - all the baby words
phantom shindig lol
calling it a night with 132 found / happy babbling all
Yeah, I swear shindig should be a word
bye wilson
most of the big ones share a common ending so once you find one, you'll be trucking along again helen.
good job, wilson
night wilson!
My dear old cat has quite a vocabulary -- she Mrrps and says Hewwo and yells sometimes and then says oh when I tell her to be quiet.
this is such a fun grid!!
shindig is a word, just not in the grid
I also think shite should be a word... heard it all the time when I was growing up LOL
yes. it's larger than a gathering, smaller than a hootenanny
right, that's what I meant :)
lol
i love a good hootenanny
99 left and time for bed. see you all tomorrow
lol fran
I'm too tired to see the fun in this grid -- have 13 words so far :( -- think I should go to bed and forget about this or I'll never get the rest of my life attended to
as long as you can bring a covered dish to the hootenanny
wtg marpocky! see you tomorrow
good nite marp
abe lincoln? what did he do?
KIDDING.
yay, halfway and now my brain is completely fried... night all
jil are you okay... you sound totally beaten
oh not much really. i think he invented the internet or somethign
i'm not saying goodnight to jilli, because we all know she's going to be here for a couple more hours or so. :-)
i never pictured him with a beard, after all these years
lol marpocky!
in8
night angel!
(((jilli)))) Some people think it helps to get some sleep every once in a while, you might try that ;)
volley -- it was a busy day -- library shift and then grocery shopping - didn't get supper until 8 pm, many phone calls -- yes, I'm beat!
very funny, sprite!!!
poor thing! I hope tomorrow is better for you!!
yes jili, as a fellow babbing insomniac, i highly recommend you go get some REST
It will be a tough day tomorrow, trying to resist babbling the day away when there are other things I MUST attend to
don't take this the wrong way jilli, but you really should go.
let's all shun jillibus until she goes to bed.
and then you can shun me and make me go to bed ...
I agree, fran -- still have dishes to do...
good nite jili
I could never shun jilli
yay! greyed out the Ks
awwww!!! shunning???? Well, you're right...bye! (dear sprite!)
sweet dreams, jilli *hug*
night jilli! sleep well
Fran, must you really brag about that? I only have 5 so far :(
hush little jillibus don't say a word... pleasant dreams
*poof* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
yay... K's, W's and G's all done and 100 left. good stopping point.
good night all
hi dax!
and good night!
hey fran
you still in the middle of the Pacific?
lol sprite! now i can give you clues.
yes dax, in Hawaii
oh what a life it must be. :) good night
I have ka4, kh4 x 2, ki4, ki5. And I tried about 9,532 other ones.
two more KAs sprite
1 more KH
kh5
Hello KH. Are you still here?
i more KI and 1 KR
yeah,,,for one more minute
hi mkl
Hi Fran.
ka4 and ka5, kh5, ki6 and kr4 are what you're missing sprite.
I don't have a split personality. My wife's visiting her parents in Nevada, and she's logged on under my name also.
I just tried kihi. Does that mean I am desperate or just creative?
hah - i finally found the key to the biggies!
She's the k in mkl.
i figured it was something like that! :-)
wtg helen!
let's go with creative sprite
yay, finished!
woo hoo mitch!
great maniac
maniac_mitch, you rock!
You're a maniac Mitch.
nite, I'll call in the am
Thanks Fran, only the Ki6 left to find, thanks to your clues. WTG mitch!
wd mitch !
You have the base for that word already sprite
yw sprite, ki6 is like biggies
got it!
hah- got the 9!
it appears that jillibus is STILL BABBLING
Hi all can I get a word count today?
yay sprite! Ks conquered again!
235
Somehow my usual eye-for-words goes completely blind when the word starts K. I should have seen that Ki6 a long time ago of course. Kazzer, 235.
235 kazzer
sprite - you inspired me, i just greyed the k!
I'm missing 1 more K.. but I can't figure out what it is... I have ka4&5, Kh5, kh4x2, ki4, ki5, ki6 and kr4
kier - how do you know?
hugs, ka4/9
another ka4, Hugs.
says she is still online... that insomniac!
yay helen!
she just doesn't log out kier, neither do i.
Thanks Fran... got it
yay hk!
cool hugs!
perhaps jilli is getting ready for bed and leaving the computer on a little longer... in case she can't sleep ;)
ah kier - maybe she just 'forgot' to log out :)
I keep seeing riksha
i have 105 left, but i have to go do some page layout stuff. i'll see you all later!
bye Fran :)
good nite fran
Finally the hairy dolphin is back :D
ahhh, i see. my bad
bye fran
75 foir tomorrow
good nite everyone :)
night helen
nite helen
remind me - the hairy dolphin?
i4 babblet, Angb. Hairy-nosed dolphin.
For some reason that word always makes me smile.
Got it. Always forget that one
hi all just got on you just know you are in trouble when your first two words do not exist
I know the feeling, diem! Hi, just look for a promising ending and you will feel better.
hi diem grid is fun - I think
you know, i googled 'hairy-nosed dolphin' as a phrase and the only thing that came up was A BABBLE REFERENCE. scary
lol kier! That is scary.
LOL kier
We have our own language!
yep, babble puzzle archive number 952.
I will give you the def: A South American freshwater dolphin. It is ten or twelve feet long, and has a hairy snout
thanks, i monkey typed it in advertently
as usual
I'll tell my 9year old - he'll remember
thank God for our monkeys
lol Angb, isn't that the truth!
Great idea, Angb.
da8: a loose, often colorfully patterned, pullover garment originating in Africa and worn chiefly by men (alt. spelling)
Well that helped sprite - not
ahh, thanks sprite!
lol Angb, sorry to hear that!
ok, let's try this: it starts with 'raised platform', followed by 'to walk' with other last vowel.
ahh, thanks for the alternate spelling sprite, i only had the other spelling
da7 is the 'normal' spelling, by the way.
lol, in unison, kier :)
thnx sprite for being so patient
Never heard of it
oh all the things we learn from babble :) Glad you found it, Angb.
Have you the in 7 that USers do to their presidents?
Yes, thanks! It helped me find in7 and in8 too.
Have not got the 8- back to lool
in7/32 latin plural, in8/50 past tense. Build on e4/5.
the in7 that USers do to presidents?? heh?
Are we talking about the same word sprite. Dont; think so
ok i am getting 6 more words and then going to bed.
Yes, it is almost the same word. You need to insert a vowel after the in.
are there any other Brits here?
onyl for a few mintes - got to go to work
Oh, and Angb, your in7 has an en7 brother.
same here - just wondered if I was the only person who had electric
poor Kazzer!
thnx for all of those sprite
holy bajoles, i got the 9 all by my lonesome!
yw :)
wtg kier! That's such a kick, isn't it.
yay kier
yes, and such a rare rare occurence for this babbler!
Even kickier then :) (This could be a babble word!)
Me too kier. I spend 1/2 hour each day at flip trying to ignore the clues hoping that I will get the odd 8 or 9.
maybe unkickier would be a babble word
OK where are my words going?
When I started today, someone was posting the biggies in the chatlog to 'help'. :( We had the usual 2.00 am hiccup of the site, guys, it is over now.
Would someone care to clue the sh8?
alright chiquitas and mr. chiquitas, i am going to bed now (1.5 hrs earlier than my usual 130 am!)
mkl, it starts with a part of your underleg that hurts like hell when you bump it against the bedpost... and it is a past tense verb.
great going, kier, sleep well :)
So long, farewell, auf wiedersein, good night...I hate to go and leave this pretty sight
adieu....
Crap. I have all the words around it. It should stick out like a sor thumb. Can't find it though.
Jillibus you with us?
mkl, S + Hi7 (the horse made a sound)
thank you thank you thank you
Morning from a very wet and windy england
lol... yw yw yw

Rain/snow
Hi ren
we have torrential rain and 80mph winds today, how nice!!
Hi ren, diem
hi Angb
You dont have to shovel rain ren
same here, ren. Ugly weather. I am so glad I don't have to go outside today. My love did all the shopping yesterday :)
I wish I did have snow diem, my 3yr old would love it
Is that him, ren8, on your icon? Great pic :)
yes it is sprite, he is a little monkey
better go get ready for work, see you later and good luck, this grid seems quite hard
Bye ren
Bye ren
bye ren
ti 4/8 and 5/18 - a NZ Maori word - wonders will never cease
ok, enable again. All I have left are W words. Hunting them down monkeying brought me Wi5/20, no def found wherever. Best way to clue it is "I wi5 a merry christmas"
LOL sprite
And thnx
Does any of you know what it means, beside being an anagram? I googled it and all I found was it being used as soundword for the sound willowtrees make.
scrabble dic says to express surprise
thanks, will remember that :) fireworks.
Yay sprite. Gee well done. I still have 97 left. Will need now to wait till tomorrow.
wisha One entry found for wisha. Main Entry: wisha Pronunciation: 'wi-sh& Function: interjection Etymology: Irish mhuise, muise, probably alteration of Muire Mary (Jesus' mother) chiefly Irish -- used as an intensive or to express surprise
WTG sprite
I am so lucky that the flip is at 7 am here. Oh oh oh SummerBreeze.... that is posting a word twice!
night Angb, sleep well
thnx sprite
Sorry - wasn't thinking
Morning diem :-) Hope you are OK. I've booked the venue for the wedding and put on offer in on a house, that will teach mum to be away for a fortnight!!
Congrats where is the house and whats the date got to book my vac this week
The wedding is on the 3rd of May 2008 which is a saturday :-) Now the saving begins!!
The house is about 5 mins from Mums and really handy for the motorway which is ideal for both of us.
I am off, have a great day/night/whatever all of you and happy babbling
Mari should know by now not to leave us for sun and sand.hey fantastic she is going to be gobsmacked .What about Brum Newcastle
Jammie happy
Night sprint
I couldn't believe it myself. I was expecting a call from him last night but he was probably 'tired and emotional' by that point.
Katie when will you know about the house?
You know who we have saturday they are going to be mad

I'm being serious here, but we play them on Saturday, not good timing! we are going to sort out the finances tomorrow.

what does the 9 start with??
nevermind - i found it
morning everyone - how goes it with you?
hi denny - it goes slower :P
hi Denny
Good morning Denny - cold, windy, but a nice grid to compensate.
150 down and still 5 more 8s to locate - brighter news is that i spotted the 9 all by my lonesome :D
Very windy and wet here too. Not playing today 'cos got far too much to do around the house. Might come back later this evening. Anyone lost any tiles from their roofs yet? :-)
what does the 9 start with?
de
Roof is intact so far. And I'm not going to investigate any further.
morning all! :)
it is an extension of a de6
tx :D
Good morning, sparkly
9 starts with de and it and the 8 build off of the 6,21
hi Sparkly
hi sparkly
It's an easy grid today with all of these delicious suffixes.

I'm going back in March for about 6-8 weeks, hope I can do without babble for that long! Might have to find an internet cafe..............
Super! Is this your first time going back?
Yes, but I've only been here since November, hunting down docs for a visa
oh, I see. Don't know why, but I thought you'd been here longer. I am sure I'll see you in the chat before you go but, just in case, take care and have a fab time.
tx Biltong, let me know if I can post anything from the Cape for you, or perhaps contact anyone by phone?
Thanks, sugar, I will :)
Does anyone have clues for the top right o's, please?

I don't think he knows.
LOL
Most of the junk mail I get assume I'm a man as well

He's got a future, that one. :)
yes he is and a very good one I might add.
He's very sweet Hodag and seems extremely bright
He is an adult trapped in a boy's body.
he is all of that, spoken like a true grandma! They have him tutering
There sure are a lot of words with the "ing" suffix--perhaps to honor our 3 Inge's
oops 2nd graders in reading because he has a 4th grade reading levle,he is also a second grader!
Is he even the least bit challenged academically at school? I worry about the bright, gifted kids getting the "special education" that they need but don't often get in schools because of budget constraints or teachers that don't know what to do with these kids.
at times but he works well with it and he is still alittle boy and he acts like one.
gotta go now................bye all
you're right scrabbler... as a guidance counselor and former teacher, our schools don't really handle the extremely gifted students well. My son (the author) survived it, but he certainly presented a problem to his teachers
Bye hodag.
I have many patients that are very very bright, and the tough part is that disconnect between their intellect and their emotional/social development. I have a little guy, age 4, reading at a 3rd grade level, but he is struggling socially
and all he wanted to do was learn.... but when it came to science and stuff--- he often knew more than they did. and yes, they will struggle socially.... we are lucky that he turned out as he did. bye hodag
actually... bye everyone... I need to get to school myself! have fun
Hi Doren--I had similar experiences, and I am a fierce advocate for these kids and parents, and push the parents to be advocates. It really is the other end of the spectrum with "special education" and these bright kid are often neglected, to the detriment of them and society
Bye Dorens
Bye Doren
I have 2 8's so far--anybody find the 9?

Hi ARB & Flosey & Melon
hi lynxxx
erev tov, then. glad I caught you.
Sorry, hello to all. Had to flip laundry and re-fill coffee.
da8 - to the platform add a demanding walk through the country, but change the final vowel
How are you feeling Melon? Stronger, I hope.

sorry, that's 3x gi's
ok
Buttonman do you have da4/5? It's the starting point and is an anagram of the past tense of say.
I'll let you know just as soon as.........lol
i found it
yes, two of them
4 gi's
gi4 - mixed up French novelist in the past?
please share, hurshy
The one I mean comes after the da4/6. It's da plus a verb form of 'to be'
gi4/7 and the 4/6 following have 2 vowels in the middle
rite
got those and the drink
is that ta 7/28 the only T7?
past tense the drink?
Hursh, yes
yes, hurshy
Okay, Buttonman. Now think of a word that means a stiff walk through the countryside. It rhymes with a type of fish and a two-wheeled mode of transport. Add it to the da4/5, BUT change the final vowel for another one.
rats.
Back for my last few words. Perhaps lunch helped.
nobody got my Andre Gi** (mixed up) clue????
I had the word, but got your clue, melon.

ah, ok, i had no idea that was a dip, but, the points helped, lol
i thought it was a tropical island mentioned in "kokomo"
i have reached the dreaded 14!!
it may be but I buy it at the Deli !
ta 6/21 - ta + another word for rear or back(***d), change d to vowel, def - a paste made of ground sesame seeds
i guess i just thought tropical island because it's a combo of 2 of them - the latter being the place they tested atom bomb
Done. Wasn't too bad, a lot of them build off one another.
Congrats Bunny
tx bunny!

is alt sp of the 7 button
2
Buttonman - da7/52 - add a vowel to make it da8. Add it to the beginning of the word
sigh.
button, build on de six above it
well, i think i either need an sh5 or an sa5
the sa5's i have are plurals
6 sh 5's
you can plural THAT one??? good golly.
sa5 - they are all plural - even the homonym for being in right mind
And even plural for past tense of 'speak'
and even he sa4, she sa4!
yeah that is so wacky
so that leaves a T4/5
aha, got it!
HAZ...i tried both vowels and the grid will not take it
Plural brunus edwardii?
it was the one that rhymes with the cowardly lion actor, actually
Buttonman - da4/5 IS the small platform. da plus I am , you are , he **.
Then add the ending to make it da8. All you are doing is adding one vowel to the da7.
sorry i just cannot se the de5/16 - de6/27....and need a clue
de5/16 - I will de5/16 to give you a clue. It's the gerund ending rearranged
de 6 - de + red stop s***, plural

good morning, everyone -- once again the weatherman has proved correct and we are enveloped in a cocoon of snow -- visibility is about half a kilometer at the moment.
kh + ***os (good bye in Spanish)
Haz are you still there?
Hi nan
We actually had a little snow Cyber, but nothing like that. I'm watching it melt. Hope you don't need to leave the house.
Mag, this is easier, ka 4/9 & kh 5/22 are the same.
thanks bunny, now how did you know i needed that?
no snow here in florida :)
Lol, you're mis-type.
In the UK we have had terriblewind/rain...a tanker has sunk, driver killed by a tree in his car window and lots of storm damage everywhere
sounds bad, cait -- we will probably just have lots of fender benders today.
Yuck. We had all our fender benders Monday. Lotsa ice. No storms thankfully. Poor guy, had to be some strong wind.
You all cope with the snow better than the UK ..we just grind to a halt as soon as we have any!!!
No, it's like that in Texas. People wig out when ice or heavy rain comes. They dont' understand the concept of - don't go out unless you have to, drive slow. We hardly ever get snow, let alone snow storms.
are there any gn words?
Portland was at a stand-still over the past 2 days over the 5 inches of snow we got Tuesday morning.
good afternoon all any clues for as 5/12
Isnt it strange how our concept of places are...I always think of Texas as a hot dry state..I cant imagine you having co;d weather!!
no gn's
After going to school in Iowa for 4 years and never having a snow day (in spite of multiple feet of snow), I found it amusing when class was cancelled.

hi eva!
hi 6a!
Good evening folks. I am back to work on the grid---I found 75 this AM and my goal is 50%. I fear that I will dream of "ing" all night.
I think I'm pretty much stopped for the night. The words are trickling in like treacle.
hi Scrabbler, eva, andree, et al. I'm back to try and finish. Only 31 to go, but I've been at it off and on all day. Nite. peri
50 left for me
Pida and Eva--you are closing in....good luck.
so before I go to bed, could someone be kind and give me a clue for the 2 a's from the bottom a? They've been driving me crazy!
of course since I just asked I found one.
Eva - the entrance to a mine and helps
evening
Hi feather
those come from the upper a, but thanks for the thought
One of the help words comes from that a as I remember
a + left si++
the one I found has the participle ending and what's left after a fire. Any help with the other one?
i'm back
hi, how is everybody doing?
as 5/12 - stage whisper
great button and you?
feeling icky here
thanks! I swear that word wasn't there a minute ago(-:

sa cuts up wood
Cutting up wood

i'm not doing the grid tonight. just hanging out.
hi feather
and scrabbler
thanks
allo ping
I love that show, featherbee---a dysfunctional office with an idiot boss and staff except for 2 people that "get it"----just like my office
Hi Ping
yeah, they do seem to be a bit weird. strange format too for the show itself...takes getting used to
did you make that cool icon scrabbler?
Hello everyone, and hi Leigh.
da 8 and sh 8 please
No, I found it on Google images
what's with the talking to the camera every now and then?
oh man...I love the office! I got my husband season 1 & 2 for Christmas and for the past several nights we've been watching all of them
supposed to be like a "reality" show
feather, i tried it out on netflix and didn't get it either - it might be because i'm a boss and the boss is an idiot - i don't get dilbert either
scrabbler, i like it
That is how the show is done---a documentary set-up, and it is modeled after a hit show in the UK with the same name
button-sh8-kids climbing trees built on part of the leg
don't have the da8 either
lol ping! yeah, i don't get dilbert very often. but then, i've never worked in an office, so i don't have that frame of reference
Hi everyone! clue for my last word please...in7 after the in7 compose
past tense of that button
ohhhh, it's supposed to be like a documentary? that makes more sense now
hello dawg
may I have a clue for ta 6,18 pls?
EVA, i don get the sh 8 clue
i'm basically just killing time waiting for the scrubs musical
I love Dilbert too. I guess you have to have a boss named Richard Head to understand the lunacy of a toxic work environment and a boss that is an idiot
noo.....seriously, that's your bosses' name?
da8 is take the podium + not bye + **ss the girls and make them cry
LOL Scrabbler!
da8 is like da7, but put the 3rd vowel in the second position
build on sh4/5-lower part of leg. Double the last consonant, and continue from there. I sh_______ed up the tree

yw dr
featherbee, you must see the show through the eyes of Jim and Pam--they are the normal ones.
Eva, rhymes with the noise a horse makes not neighing
which ones are they? is one the cute receptionist?
I have it lb-ws trying to help button get it-your clue is better than the ones I've been giving
yes, and jim is the young, nice looking fellow
i think they're the ones who just did a practical joke on a really annoying guy
Pam is the quiet, cute receptionist.
ok, yep, that's them. got it.
May I have a clue for the second sh 5/14 pls and the sn 5/12?
yes, they're always pulling jokes. I loved the one where they put all of Dwight's desk accessories in the vending machine!
Jim tortures Dwight repeatedly. Dwight is the funniest part of the show!
dr, the not sunny part of the tree.
is tonight's show a repeat? will i spoil anyone if i say what happened?
Go ahead, feather--I will buy this season's DVD anyway
ah, I thought I checked and today was the first air date...cwap!
sn5.12 rhymes with what you do when you get on the horse.
won't ruin it for me
ildawager I have that one. I am missing the other sh 5/14
annoying guy (i'm guessing dwight) programmed an annoying ring tone. they stole the phone, and tossed it up in the ceiling tiles right over his head, then jim kept calling it. drove him nuts!

Hi E-nut
Hi Inge2---mousey adopted a new name of Inge3--he is hilarious!
nut, you're not in a country today!
hi Ping! thats more fun than saying hi to Inge, Ingge, Inge
hi stephie and inge
hi ping!
ping and ing
course not, inge the 2nd who is in no way inferior to ing one...that's because i'm outta this world.
Ingo is a boys name! But Inge is also the last name of a Detroit Tigers baseball player. So mousey is not eintirely off
Hey Nutster! (here's your green tea Ping)

I get this feeling I should check out Babbler's handbag right now, BBL
nutster fried her brains today first at training at work, then on her class work....nut has no brain power left
oh no, fried brains! did you learn anything?
yeah i think, only i fear it might be mingling together, i need a firewall or something.
nah, just some time to properly download and execute the information
i'm hoping the training today is a good sign, but i dare not be hopeful.
what class are you taking?
what kind of training?
training was for i'm not exactly sure what
hi all. oh, my 235 words, 3.5 hours left and I need to take my niece shoe shopping...do you think I can do it?
class is in security and we were discussing the USA PATRIOT act
clue for the second ha4/6 and the ha6/27 please!!
Hi autumn, sure you can! we'll help.
ha + Mr. ** (talking horse)

ha6 sounds like something you'd do in the fields with the product to feed horses and cows.
Patriot act huh...sounds like it could be an interesting discussion
thanks!!!!
could be dawg, depends on those discussing it.
Better late than not at all! I found good ole Fritz for my icon.
nice fritz inge
what's the theme, inge?
i'm afraid i'd be one of those throwing in jabs about big brother
today's theme is historical figures
favorite historical figures Ping
okay, thanks
we covered that, but there was disagreement about it affecting civil liberties
Any British babblers here? Did they all get blown away?
i'm sure it got heated
hello babblers and babbletttes!
and i would be the one arguing that the freedom you preserve outweighs the privacy you give up.
hi Fran!
Hi Frannie
hi abe!
hi Fran
hi lbd! hi autumn!
ahhh, what price freedom. it's a tough and touchy subject for sure
it is, but very interesting
hello fran!
abe, just read your profile, you should ask LeslieAnn how she liked Maui, that's where she went.
i bet it made the time fly bye
hi ping!
heck no!
no?
Fran- Oooh, great id4. I will be sure to! thanks :)
personally, i would honeymoon in Florence, Italy
that was at home...dragged out, been forever since i had to compose something with a point. i just come in here and type nonsense.
i like rome
What time of year, Fran?
Nut, and you still make sense here! :-)
i've been there in July and February for business trips, July can get hot, February was just cool.
tx dawg! *collapses in chair* i'm in culture shock
that's a fine destination for a business trip!
there's probably a more ideal time to visit, but my trips were dictated by business needs.
Hi, all
Hi Pam
yeah ping, it was a dream job for sure.
hi pam!
I'm fine with being hot...i want to be someplace where i can explore. Hi Pam
hi pam!
do you plan to return to it one day?
Do you want to leave the continent Abe?
hi, lbd, fran, ping, abe, and all
If I use licketys page to put the words on, do I then have to transfer them to the bable site? PLEASE say no
i don't think so Ping, my new dream job is taking care of my kids, wouldn't want to be away from them that long.
Alis, no...but yes, you do have to type the words in both places. at least in babble if you want to make the points
abe, Florence is just filled with things to do and explore
lbdawger- sure! my bf has never left the time zone, he's up for anything!
egads
..and here I thought I had found a shortcut...
lots of hiking and stuff to do in Montana. canada is beautiful too or alaska. or you could do the wine country
Fran- thanks for the suggestion! i'll do some research
abe, New Zealand is also a great destination, i haven't been, but my friends went for their honeymoon a few years ago and absolutely loved it.
a truly important job, fran, for sure
Fran- I had friends who did that too- a three week holiday
hi
you can get more info from angb about new zealand, she babbles from there.
hi lavinia
in7,7, and 8 please
hi, lavinia
I would like to explore parts of Canada as well. and i'm sure I could get lots of advice from fellow babblers
i don't know how it is now, but the exchange rate was great at the time so they didn't feel like they were spending too much money.
in7, past tense of the in6
in + ed4/5 + vowel
in7 (second one) in + what you do to proof a paper + first vowel
abe, i would venture to say you could get info on any destination you wanted from your fellow babblers!
in + ed4/5 + past tense
thanks for the help
Well, I enjoy all these travel suggestions. Will make them the topic of my dreams. Good night all
night Inge
sh8?
Fran- that's what i'm counting on!
good night, inge
goodnight Inge
night inge!
good night inge
don't do alaska in july or august...that's mosquito season
lbd, the rest of the year the mosquitoes are frozen, right? :-)
lbdawger- i never heard of that, but I am a mosquito magnet so i will take your advice
it's true, Frannie! since the long dark keeps things on the cool side, the pests don't hatch til late june and all thru august.
i think everyone, at some point in their life should drive across the country, from coast to coast, taking a northern route one way and a southern route the other
Good evening all. Today's grid is a 'gerund grid'. Here's a clue story: Had to wa4/9 the cat (or maybe the kh4/9?) today. He arrived home covered in sh4/5, like he'd been wa6/39 in mud. He tried to sn5/18 past me and was sw8/75 his claws as I tried to clean him. So, deciding it was a 2-man job, I wa6/33 for Paul to come home from work. My icon shows Paul wa7/56 the cat, whose eyes are wi4/9. He's obviously wi7/56 he hadn't fallen into the muddy pond (or whatever it was) and ha6/27 the water and pretty te4/5 off!
hi, jac
autumn, that's something i would love to do having lived on islands my whole life!
autumn- we did that with my family when i was 9 and it was AMAZING
good clues Jac!
hi jac!
very clever jac!
clue for the sh8 please?
thanks Jac :)
nice story, jac!!!!!!!
stephie, went up a tree or pole
Abe, does your honey like the outdoors, hiking and camping and roughing it?
sh8 is probably what my cat did up a tree or fence and then the 80mph winds blew him down into the mid.
sh 8- part of the leg + anagram of d 4/4, eat in a restuarant
*mud
hi jacula!
Jacula that story was a masterpiece!
stephie, if you have the hi7.36 just add an s at the front
great story jac.
lbd- it depends, he's up a certain amount of roughing it, but he also has an ' inner couch potato'
hi again
hi Feather
thanks, got it!
hi feather
hi, feather
hi heather!
hmm, you might want to consider Hawaii any of the islands good for hiking, swimming and lots of places just to laze around.
how is everyone?
Glad you liked the story. As you can see from my icon, it's a true story. Hope it helped you all find a few more words.
Good evening!!
lbd- he's fine laying on a beach. i need hiking, swimming, etc...I have several friends who have vacationed in Hawaii and loved it
wine country starting in Washington and on down the pacific highway would be fun too. lots of good wines and ea****, nice places to stop and hike or go dancing

rest in peace james brown...now if they would let him be buried.
oh no, no songs again!!!! lol
yup, me too Jac. which is better than that stupid small world song i've had going all day! lol
Fran - you mean he's not buried yet? Are they hanging on to him like the Russians have with Lenin??
time to log off, CSI time. see you tomorrow
swviola- how are you?
Sorry, Jac.....just had to say it. I've been working on this dam* grid all day, and now I can quit.....
night lbd! first night with liev schrieber, should be good
See ya ibd
goodnight lbdawger= thanks for your advice (and the tea)
I"ve been driving in the pitiful litle bit of snow we have here
jac, there's a dispute over his will, it was written before he married his last wife and she's contesting it.
Now I can go finish watching the Lightning play. Unless it
it
'Night lbd. Enjoy the programme. Just make sure any talking birds aren't listening. (You heard about my Mum's pink grass parakeets?)
the roads are starting to get a big dicey
it's already over. Fingers keep hitting wrong key, Sorry
they were better going home... Katonah was pretty bad. How have you been??
Fran - Oh dear! Does one wife think he wants cremation and the other burial then? Otherwise, why would his will prevent his final rest?
ok. i'm going to start subbing in ossining and tarrytown soon
not sure of all the details, but his youngest son is not included in the will and i guess the burial details are up in the air because of that.
and school starts soon, yuck.
Nice!! We will have to meet for lunch soon! I owe you and your Abe a dinner and a psychology book!
Fran - That seems rather odd. Mind you, he was an odd man...
lol. sounds like a plan

hi Kristin
i'll be right back, i have a dirty diaer to deal with
Hi Kristin
sw8/75 - there are two. One is a noise or an action (usually a shhh sound or to do with water) the other is often found ,in its sw5/20 form, with 'buckling' at the end.
hi hi abe, swviola and others!
I assume Fran means dirty diaper.
night, heather
hi kristin
hi there ping
Hi kristinc.
I think so jac :)
and hi
sw- that sounds like a nice plan- it gives you less places to be. if you need a study book for the LAST or ATS-W, i have 2....
i needed those, jac, thank you
y/w Ping.
can someone please clue me for the first te 5/6 combo?
you are awesome, Abe...I have three already, but thanks!
those tests are v. annoying
abe - te + 2 personal pronouns + consonant (think of the letter on the hat the class stoopid once had to wear).
*stupid. Sorry about that. I was listening to an Alice Cooper track.
I keep hearing that...I am freaking about the two CLEP tests I have to take....algebra was in the ancient past for me!! :-)
evening -- I have 3 left in7/32 and in8/50 and the last in5/12 -- any help tonight pls ty
thanks Jac! nothing like a little Alice Cooper with your babble!
y/w, abe.
sw- i have to take algebra too! we should make a study group for that
sw- are you on AIM? abe wants to know
I'm cr*p at maths but I could do algebra. Not sure I could now, though; it was a loooong time ago.
the last in 5 - past tense of a motel?
I haven't logged on to AIM for fear of being seen by my ex. For Abe, though, I would risk it! ;-)
I'm working as a math tutor, which has served as a "reawakening" to my brain. I need lots of pracitce though, to remove the cobwebs
I would be all about an algebra study group...do you have to do a science as well?
YES!!!!!
viola - there's always MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger or Yahoo for talk things.
in7 - in + ed4/5 + vowel. in8 - in + ed4/5 + past tense ending.
StephieC -- that one eluded me, now only the in7/32 and in8/50 to go
that's funny, I need all the other in's!
fireworks!
True that Jac...I have Yahoo Messenger
pbr - in7 = in + the e4 that has to be done to manuscripts/
yay abe!
Go Abe!! We will talk soon!!
yay abe!
in8/50 = in + what was done to manuscripts before publishing.
thanks :) I need help in science b/c i am c**p at it.
viola - I'd use that then.
Well done, abe!
Jacula and StephieC -- thx, doing the fireworks
Me too!! Biology, or earth science??

yay pbr!!!
Congrats, abe Nite everyone.

Well done, pbr!
Hey, Abe...does Abe have Yahoo Messenger??
I know fran, I'm ing and ed-ing away!

If abe has MSN Messenger she can talk to those on Yahoo.
So will I, then...thanks Abe!
yw
does anyone need any clues?
Have a good (ex-free) chat, abe and viola.
help with the ig's abe?
15 left and I might need clues for all of them!
I am swviolin on Yahoo...
Not me, abe. I finished hours ago. Just here to clue and chat now.
en6 and 7 please?
oh, i'm still here. sw is going to chat with my fiance (also called abe). i'm just here to chat and clue too :)
Ping - you ig6/24 a firework. Once you've done that, it has been ig7/40.
Lol Jac...I will certainly do so! Thanks for the suggestion!
stephie, like the in6 and in7, en + d4
ping, you have to ig**** your gas grill.
thanks jac and pass a mackerel please
en + anagram of cut calories, then plural
I'm getting my 'abes' confused now.:(
Ping - don't have a mackerel handy/ Would a rainbow trout do?
toss it over!
please!
Jac- i am the only babble abe (that i know of). my fiance abe is into the online jigsaw puzzle scene...
sounds like a good match, abe
hi6/27??
unless you only have one computer.
One trout winging its way over the ocean...
stephie, gerund form of the hi4/6
I had no idea there were online jigsaw puzzles!
hello everyone!
hi reese's!
nice, throw, jac!
online jigsaw puzzles!
what's gerund form?
Hi Reese's. KristinC- they are fun, but v. time consuming
hi reeses!
where can you find them?
stephie, add the "action" suffix that most of the long words use
Ping- when he jigsaws, i can babble guilt-free (not that I ever let guilt stand in my way)
-ing
I can imagine! I only have time for one addiction. But...if I could get my husband hooked on jigs then I'd have more time to babble :)
whers online jigsaw puzzles?
hey hursh!
the website is jigzone.com
hey.
yo peeps!
ok then good bye forever! LOL .....just kidding of course!
Hi Smooth pappa and Hurshy
hey smooth!
hey smooth!
hi smooth and reese
hello smooth!
I know...pretty tempting huh reeses?
hope everyone's well tonight
as it is right now, my cats are destroying the puzzle we started over the holiday...that seems much cleaner! :)
abe - Oh, I see. I tried those on-line jigsaws. I prefer to do real ones though. I like the funny Jan Van Haasteren puzzles best and WASGIJ? puzzles (where the pic on the box shows the people who are seeing something, but the puzzle is what they are seeing and so not pictured on the box).
kh5?
what up pappa!!
new job, swv... or at least, a new poisition in my ompany... i start the transition on monday
:-D so stoked right now!
those sound really hard jac!
stephie, add an H to ka4/9
Congrats, man!!
good for you smooth!
thanks
kristin, i have a felt mat that you can roll up puzzles with so the cats don't mess with it
jac- those WASGIJ puzzles sound great. where do you get them?
congrats, smooth
thanks guys... it'll be a great change!
*****FIREWORKS!!!!!***** Finally Took a many hour break and just came back to it a short time ago.
the first two te5/12's?
yay Minski!
I know, I need to get one hursh...we've been doing puzzles together a lot recently and that beats the bulletin board we keep toting around :)
yeah minski!!
yay minski!
well done minski!
well done Minski
kristin - Not as hard as the 'plate of baked beans' puzzle. I've never completed that one. I bought it for a friend years ago and she retaliated by putting it into the caravan I used to rent from her for holidays.
yeah minski
gotta go see you later
bye minski!
jac...wer'e doing one with all cows right now! (not quite the baked bean caliber but hard)
abe - here's a UK site. I expect there's a USA one though. I get mine from the local toyshop. Site is:http://www.alljigsawpuzzles.co.uk/f alcon_wasjig_puzzle.htm
thanks Jacula!
the first te5/12 please?
Hursh - I've just bought myself that big board with opening flaps to hold your sorted jigsaw pieces. It was about £70 originally, but was being offered for about £20 plus 4 free jigsaws just before Xmas. So I bought it. It's not worth the original price!
te + vowel + freudian self
my dad's done all sorts of crazy ones. all red, non-smooth edges... if you really are into puzzles in a major way you might want to look into getting a Stave puzzle. they're hand carved wooden jigsaw puzzles. very expensive but very cool.
Has anyone tried any of those 3D jigsaws?
yeah, they're really not that hard jac
You know, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament, World globe etc.
yeah, I did a mystery 3-D one once...it didn't seem too hard but I
I'm not sure if it was intended to be or not
sorry...excited pinkie finger!
abe, i thought freudian self was ego. i can't make it work
(www.stave.com if you're interested - you should just take a look at any rate, they are amazing)
are all the k words crazy? I only have 2!
there are 3, ego, superego, and **, stephie
thanks for the link hursh...a fun present I bet!
Thanks, hursh. I will take a look.
i guess that i'm brain dead! i just can't get it
i'm missing half the k's kristin and the ones i have are mostly crazy
stephie - try another freudian term
stephie- repeat the vowel twice
steph... photo **
k ping...I'll keep typing away
one is your first syllable
aha...3! thanks :)
Here's the USA link for the funny Jan Van Haastern jigsaws.
finally! i was trying the wrong double vowel!
http://www.puzzlesusa.com/cgi-bin/cate gory/77
only 5 left!
go steph go!
ta6/18,7/28 please
you can do it, Stephie!
u can do it stephie
go stephie
ta6 & 7 are the tapeworms, doxylover.
I think of them as the Babble tapeworms, since I don't hear the word anywhere else.
jac...are you or someone else bathing your cat perchance? :)
I hate those tapeworm words! I can never remember them :( (okay...done whining)
Kristinc - That's Paul wa7/56 the cat. My arms aren't THAT hairy!
i feel the same, kristin
3 left and they're all in words
I said or someone else...just to get me off the hook jac :) now THAT looks like a good time!
thx jac. had to look that one up
i'm missing 2 KH words, the one i have sounds like the animal you are discussing
okay ping, if I get a sudden memory of them, I'll hollar
tapeworm word = ta6/18 - first three letter are a British breakfast beverage with 2nd & 3rd vowels reversed + actress Miss Farrow (one-time wife of Woody Allen) with a different initial letter.
do you have the one that is like the ka 4/9 but adding the h
ping, add an h to the ka4/9 and k+not hers
Down to 4...2 TA's and 2 TE's...
no, thanks!
thanks for putting up with my whining jac :)
thanks, kris and steph
Any help on a TE5/12 and TE6/21? Please and thank you...
go kenny!
Also, any help on the first two TA's?
te + if you're not in front you are beh***
yep :)
Got that one, steph...it's the one right next to it.
t + double vowel + picture **
first two in's please?
ka4/9 = ka + former British princess. ka4/8 = ka + not out. ka5.18 = plural of the former. kh5/22 sounds like a container for tea (or a golf buddy). kh4.9 - sound like a feline. kh4/9 - sounds like a lover's osculation. ki4/8 - you fly it in windy weather. ki5/20 - same as before but past tense. ki6.36 - active tense of the windy flyer. kr4/8 - Mr. Kringle.
in + do a good **** for the day, in 5- a type of alternative rock music
hooray! k's done! thanks so much!
Well done, kristinc!
how about the o in the upper right corner?
Oh man, steph...sorry, but I don't get it...*S*
thanks abe and everyone! I'm done!!
hooray for stephie!!!
Kenny - I clued those at 9:35.
kristin c- a type of greek theatre... congrats to stephie!
Well done, Stephie!
well done stephanie!
thanks abe!
Congrats, stephie. Thanks, Jac! Down to 2!
od5 & plural 6 is a Greek theatre and also a popular name for cinemas in the UK (not sure if same in USA though).
Still need the TE5/12 and TE6/21. Any help appreciated. Please and thank you...
i had lots of trouble with this one too! it's te + another word for me + picture **. I told you the wrong double vowel, sorry!
i'm missing one of the NI 4 words, not the number or the evening
thanks jac! typical babble word...I just wasn't going the right way
Kenny - there are 2 sets of te5/12 and 6/21s.
the number before ten
oops
before the number - i have another that rhymes with the ocean wave
there are only two ni4/4
I have the TE+abbreviation for the state housing the Colts football team and its plural. It's the other one I'm losing sleep over.
ping- change the last vowel in the one that rhymes with the ocean wave
it's an NI 4/5
ni + princess **
thanks, abe, that is the one
thanks, steph
kenny...take the one you have, get rid of the n and double the vowel with the dot
Kenny te + 2 vowels that are a personal pronoun + the class thicko's initial on his conical hat.
Then plural.
te + third vowel (twice) + fourth letter
how about the first IN 6/24?
Thanks kristin and jac, you saved my sanity! FIREWORDS
well done kenny!
Thanks again, stephie. Good night from the great city of Boston.
Well done, Kenny!
hoo hoo for kenny!
Fireworks finally - that was a long haul.
Yay kenny
congrats to Kenny and Ang
in + you do a good **** for someone
Thanx all, good night.
Thnx abe
yay ang!
in6 means certainly
Thnx ping
in6.24 = yes, in****! in + an action or good de**.
thanks, steph, and argh pass another fish to me please
in 6/24 this was a taxing grid
I needed help with that one too!
is it morning for you ang?
Throws jumbo pack of frozen fish fingers over the ocean to Ping.
i'm headed off to bed... goodnight everyone :)
Happy babbling! Good night!
The last in I found too
steph, i now even remember the clue for it
good night abe!
Night, Stephie.
night stephie
No its coming up for 5pm on Friday
Night, abe.
whoah
I always say the day as we are so far ahead. Put's it in perspective
3.50am on Friday here in UK, abe.:(
What ya doing up Jac? Can't you sleep?
babble time still blows my mind!
well, world time I suppose too :)
goodnight/ morning to all :)
bye abe
Kristin What I can't get over are the time differences in the USA - one country
Ang - No. Had lots of disturbed nights due to very frequent hot flushes (flashes). Slep about 12 hours straight last night by virtue of consuming a whole bottle of wine. Not tired now. Anyway, Other Half went to bed at about 8:45pm with a headache. He has to be up soon, and it's his birthday. Didn't want to disturb him, but would like to greet him when he gets up.
ang...and then we have this wonderful thing called daylight savings time where some of us are an hour ahead/behind even more than normal depending on winter/summer and then some states choose not to recognize it...it's a royal mess! :)
what amazes me ang, are two things: the number of time zones in Russia, and the fact that China has only 1 time zone. lol
That's right I remember now. LOL life gets rather disorganised during these times. Gone are those normal sleeping patterns
How many time zones in Russia?
11 ang... the continental US has only 4
The Chinese do nothing for comfort so it doesn't surprise me.
I have a time zone map somewhere in my Babble icons file.
11!!!! That is amazing -
lol
well, the country dstretches from poland to korea... it's soooo long
Though my Chinese partner does not follow that rule!
Too true smooth
I wish there was a time zone map associated with babble icons or with the site
You have been there smooth? I would love to go
ri 5 please?
I spent 3 months in russia, ang... amazing country
They should add the local time with the babble time that would be interesting (and probably confusing)
What were you doing there smooth - vacation or work?
Okay, time is running short, and I am running in circles. Can anyone please help me with the da8, 9 and the de8 please? Thanks. :)
well... those three months were split into 3 different trips... 1st for school... 2nd for freinds, 3rd for a girl. lol
got the ri, never mind
ri5/12 is a Hindu word for a sage or a poet.
Have you the 7 Jee? start it with an extra i after the first to letters
So that it starts with a platform you speak from
I've put the time zone map on my icon but it doesn't make much sense all squashed up and with the writing unreadable.
thank you, jac!
I have the da7/44. Is that the one Ang?
actually, ang, I left out part of russia... etends from poland to alaska
makes for a pretty icon jac!
No the 7/52
*extends*
okay, still working on the 7/52...I will keep trying...thanks
OK da 8/70 - platform + to going tramping but change last vowel to the next one
Then for the da 7/52 leave out the second vowel in the 8
For anyone else who hasn't got the ri5 yet - think Beatles' Indian guru, the Mahari*** Yogi.
thanks Ang...I will work on it....
Odd words Jee
thanks Jacula
Thnx Jac - have saved the map to file.
glad to hear they are odd Ang...otherwise they would jump out better for me.
I'm not getting those da clues I hate to confess
Hope you can make some sense of the map, Ang.
I have the platform word
Good evening anyone have a clue for da8/70?
Have you the ti 4/8?
Kris that was for you?
da8/70 and 7/52 are alternative spellings for a colourful over garment worn by African men.
found the da7 and 8, working on the nine, assuming it is plural
Marc it has been clued
it's not plural, is it?
yes, I have the ti4/8
okay...got it!
Good evening all!
platform + ti 4/8 change but change the first letter to the 8th letter in alpha
Jee - the nine is a gerund form
da8/70 = da** (a platform for a speaker or a coffin) + a serious walking trip with a personal pronoun vowel at the end rather than an 'e'..
thanks foks!
Thanks Jacula got the 7 and am looking for the 8.
hey stranger gw! :)
Hi woulf
Hi wolfie!
not so much a stranger (most folks think I am strange enough ;D ) as a victim of the same cold that has been hitting lots of others
marc - a hint for the 8. da + 'exists' is the start.
Hi Grey! I am glad to see you again! Working on the gerund...doesn't seem to be flowing yet.
I'm the evening stranger...been more on during the day so it's been awhile :)
Oh:(( You've had that nasty bug too, then Wolfie? Have the kids been free of it?
last 2. DE5,6 before the de+memo
This cold was a nasty one -- I never had a fever but it sapped my energy to the point that I lost almost an entire week from work And to make it worse, the whole family got it at the same time!
oh, guess I am not finding da9 because there isn't one. Back to work on the de words.
I will de 5/16 to give you a clue, but only if you ask politely
It's a de 9 Jee
Thankfully, I am almost fully recovered, as are the kids, Kirsten is still afflicted but fighting the good fight
doxy - I might stoop low enough from my high perch to d5/16 to give you a clue. Think what a king or queen does and then change the intial 'r' to a 'd'.
thank you, thank you, thank you. Fireworks
okay, let's talk about that de8 please?
Jee - the 9 word is a 'de'. The cops might say they are de9/72 a criminal for questioning.
de+ta4/4 and then the typical endings
Yay doxy
de8 is the past tense, Jee.
thanks jacula...why couldn't I SEEE that?
Well done, Doxy!
well done doxy!
Yayyyy for doxy!!
Wow that was a lot of words together! Thanks everyone for your help!
y/w, Jee.
Is anyone else suffering from lag? I am getting about a 2 second delay between hitting enter and seeing my post
Wolfie - sorry to hear you have all been ill. It's a nasty one ; hangs around for 4/5 weeks. Did you get Christmas free of it?
I am just suffering from brain lag, but it is longer than 2 seconds I think.
Not now (re the lag) but I was about 7pm UK time, Wolfie.
Xmas was free of illness and psychodrama, Jac
no lag here at the moment but happens quite often at other times
LOL, Jee
Glad to hear it, Wolfie!
first di6 anyone?
not living
kristinc - it has to do with the steel industry but sounds like what you are doing when you are drawing your last breath.
I am di 6/27 to tell you kristin but then I will have to kill you
di + 2nd vowel + our favorite end***
thanks folks!
Jacula, thanks for your gerund story earlier....I just finally had time to look at it...Helped me with the sh8 word.
So what is the def for the second wi5/20? I just got it by monkey and of course the dictionary has no def for it
who knows???
y/w, Jee. True story and had the pic to go with it.
oooooh. sorry to hear about it. bet the cat hated every minute of it.
I'm off for now. Have been sick all day and still not well. Can finally keep some crackers down though.
Someone looked it up - wi 5 means surprise
what is the alternative spelling for da 7/52 that is african garb?
see ya doxy - hope you feel better soon
feel better doxy and goodnight
is there much difference between the wi 5/20 words?
{{*doxy*}}
i'll never finish... came back too late 82 left
da 8 - add the 3rd vowel after the first two letters. ADHD
Oh c'mon, ADHD, we'll do it together --- I have 90 to go here!
Hi all I still have 160 left
Hi Tiny!
go tiny go! 50 to go here!
Hi Tiny
wi5/20, Wolfie is a Dublin term. A sort of sighing sound before such statements as: imilar to Yerra, but favoured by the older generation Wi***, what good's money without health Wi***, I'll be as right as rain in no time
r u a brandie newbie too?
Hi Kristinc
Thanks for the def, Jac
hi there tiny!
Not new, ADHD, just much shorter on free time than I used to be
can anyone clue me in on ini** 5/12?
Irish exclamation of some kind of surprise, Wolfie.
in5.12 is a new, innovaive type of music.
aha well i'm brandie new here and i'm still trying to get the hang of it... fun fun fun
in 5/21 What that call that motor race in the states for short. The in 5000 or something
Think West In***s.
*5/12
it would be great if we could have a private website to post clues that don't disappear so fast in the chat, so we could check the clues any time we have time.
ADHD - you'll get there. You'll become a multi-tasker like the rest of us -
adhd - we do! It's at Babblers' Anonymous.
How about wi7/56, very last one? Be most grateful.
It is great fun, ADHD -- don't worry, you'll be a master gridhunter in no time
Here's wi 7/56 you a merry christmas
sorry ang... i don't understand your clue. add the third vowel ...?
And ADHD is a great skill to have with your new babble addiction
However, we use that for chatting, not clueing. You can bring the whole chatlog back at your leisure by clicking on the icon on far right at the top of this, should you wish.
AEIOU Third vowel is I
wi***** you a happy birthday
ADHD - add the third vowel of the 5 vowels available - as a third letter
Hi Cyborg
ADHD - we never add 3rd letters here in the chatlog unless time is short and things are getting deperate.
Of course -- thanks so much, my first finish.
*desperate.
Fireworks SC? Yay welldone
Well done, SC!
well done SC!
Hi Angb :))
Yayyyyyyy for SC!!
Cyborg haven't seen you for a while
got that ang and then what? that's only 3 letters.
The puzzles have been easy, so only here for one hour a day LOL
arg! I just spent about 5 minutes looking for the silly rh5!
i've forgotten what i'm supposed to be looking for now LOL
That's the problem with being ADHD, I guess.
yep... at this time of night the drugs are long worn off
OK ADHD - the da 8/ 70 - two words added together. platform (starts with those 3) + another word for tramp. Then change the last letter from the second vowel to the third vowel
Kristinc - had you asked, I would have sung to you... mud, mud, glorious mud. Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood. Then I'd have told you they kill more people per annum than crocs or lions ever do.
hmm...well a new factoid at least right?
AngB I have been here every day beavering away at the puzzles, I am now 11 points from the top score, this puzzles is a toughie and may take me to the top, how you doing with it, need any clues for the biggies?
Yup!
first ta6 please?
just one more quest ang (don't kill me)... tramp as in slut or tramp as in trample
ta6 is like a south pacific island but with an n instead of the t
ADHD -- you are never in danger of being killed here... there are few enough language lovers as it is... however eventually you will be slapped with a fish :-D
Wolfie - first ta6 is the Babble tapeworm. 1st 2 letters an anagram of a British breakfast drink then add actress Miss Farrow with her initial changed to the one after it in the alphabet.
Thanks Jac -- that I have not been playing in a while is definitely showing
Wolfie - you forgot to tell ADHD that concussion from frozen fish is also a possibility.
okay, my monkeys have gone on strike...the fist sa5 please?
y/w, Wolfie.
Cyborg.. i'll take any clues you've got id 7 & 8; ig 6 & 7 to start
hey ya'll
kristinc - plural of the sa4.5 before it.
what kind of fish? flounder? tuna?
1st sa5 is an anagram of the 2nd sa5
haddock
get out! no way! thanks!
Kipper, trout, cod, haddock.. who knows what we've got in our freezers, ADHD?
FROZEN NOT FRESH FISH.. OUCH
id 7 & 8 are declensions (right word?) of id 6. ig 6&7 have to do with fire.
rotten fish if it is a plural (so embarassed)
id7/36 notion + Father T**
No one has ever had a fresh or forzen blue whale chucked at them... yet.:)
ADHD which country are you from?
*frozen. And, yes, before anyone says it, I do know a whale is a mammal and not a fish.
IG6 what a car does to petrol in the engine
Sc - heck! I haven't heard the term declension since I was in English class back in the 70s. Correct though.
tx sc got them all
Have not heard it since the 40s lol
us of a
I didn't get the da 8 clue earlier.

What kind of word is that! Perfect clue. Thanks.
Shannon - da + 'exists' + word for serious walk (or what a disguntled girl may tell her unfaithful boyfriend to do - 'Take a hi**!') Change last latter of the hi word to an 'i'.
first di6,27 di7,44 last two di4,5 more help
I am missing one of the te5/6 combos, I have the tithe
Have you the Freud ego one woulf?
xlnt clues for cyborg and jacula
ends with ego superego and **
da8 means A loose and brightly coloured African shirt
thanks, Angb -- that's what I was missing
The T is grey!!
te5/12 = te + 2 vowels (that mean yourself, personally) + 4th letter of alphabet. te6 = plural of that.
what ends w/Freud's i*
ta6/21?
ta 6/21 ta + scottish end + me
xlnt jacula tx
ta6/21 is a paste made from sesame seeds. A popular 'dip', I believe.
* hen not end
what is a scottish end please?
Haven't started on the wine yet, perhaps I should
only 130 to go now and stopping
ta6/21 sounds like an hawaiian island
Scottish end? eadm ean, aet?
Good show, Tiny!!
well done tiny!
I'm working on it jac...thanks!
Think I hear the sound of Paul getting up for work now. It's his 38th birthday so I must go and greet him.
da4,6 da7,44 da5,14 da6,27 help

The di 6/27 is the type of room you would di 4/5 in
