nan, you got your way -- another monster
okay !! who was the jinx that said we were overdue for a big one????
this will keep us busy for a while!
I was jsut about to get that last word and flip! D***!
wtg jilli - first !
Who's the one who said it should be a monster?
sorry -- that would be me!
nice going nan - NOT
Hello. Aarrgh
well, will start anyway!
uh-oh - everyone's gunning for nan now, lol
flip!
ack ... good thing I've got nothing to do but sit here with a cold
little late but oh well
Helen - tx for interest - i will email you shortly
You got your wish; but right off the bat I see a lot of words! :)
flip!! I am a bit late!
nef- mine was not from a fall, but i wouldn't necessarily call it elective either, it was end- stage arthritis, bone on bone, i was popping vicodin like dr. house (well, not quite that bad, but still, i was in constant pain)
Hi babble buddies!!
okay ursh - i will gladly tell you all i can & send you to web sites to get more direct info :)))
oops need to refresh my icon brb
Hi dee hi
I'm waiting for nan to announce she's got the 10
store
Hi Jill!! LOL me too
stored
Helen, when I said elective; that differentiates it from a trauma or fall I believ. They don't go around replacing hips for the fun of it. Most orthopedic surgeons put it off as long as possible
tons
oh dear -- sorry
Jilli! THE OTHER BOX!
:D
to7
yes ma'am!
taking lessons from me I bet! :)
ti7 as well
so it's flosey now
pa 10
wondering why the P at the bottom wasn't showing any words - till I saw the 4th column P with 50 - eek!
hey all, can anyone give the total word count?
here they go...(well, I have st6)
299 girlbot
299, girlbot
pa 9

yeah, oof
pa 7
Hi melon - I know how you feel
nef - i believe mine resulted from car vs. bike incident 30 years ago (i was on bicycle, i lost) - but i will tell you, that's what they said - it's up to me, "you may want to put it off cause you're 'so young'," big mistake, i wish i had done it much sooner & that's what i tell everyone now, cause the quality of my life is worlds better now - it's really rather miraculous :)
phantom - parapet
Hi melon, late birthday greetings
hi everyone
hi saph
okay - & now i will shut up & work the grid - i just get overly excited about it every now & then & want to spread the word
flosey -- love your hat!
tx - hey, you know what made my day? one of my mom's best friends called to wish me a happy! how sweet! my mom had a gift for friendship.
hi saphyre
my phantom: hideout
Melon - happy birthday for yesterday! (even though it is somewhat clouded)
Helen, a lot of ortho docs won't do it before a person is over 60 years old because they don't last long (maybe 15 years?)
the 10 is 105 points
cu7
wow, DrB!!!
ti 7
If Douglas is still here, don't miss that or5 word! :)
lol nef!
yes nef - that's exactly why - i was 45 when it started to hurt - but i stand by what i say - it's not worth the gamble, who knows, a person may get hit by a bus tomorrow & also there (better be, i hope, knock on wood) improvements in the revision by the time i need one
what does the 10 begin with?
pa
ty DR
hell, i quit bowling, tennis, & towards the end, even walking my dogs, i was very depressed, so i also started to take anti-depressants - that & the new hip made me my old, fabulous self again
My 83 year old mom had her hips done. One at 79, the other at 81. What a difference
hehe, greyed the Q
maul
I'm glad you are feeling better Helen. And (unfortunately) I know too well how a decrease in activity can get a person down
sorry again
pris - i bet she's much more fun to be around now, lol
late flip - hiya everyone
(PSST! Jilli! The OTHER Box again! )
Hi Hugs
hi hugs
hi hugs
Oh she was always fun to be around. This makes a huge difference
The pa 9 and pa 10 are related BUT the 9 is the plural...
hi everyone!
Hi Hugs! Long time no see!
Helen: on her 1st replacement she asked the dr how long he thought it was going to last. He said 20-25 years & then chuckled.
hiya mrp!
I told him her Mom lived to be 98. We'd be needing the number of his replacement. <grin>
Hi helen! nice to see you!!

nite, kkiln
good nite pris
DrB said pa10!
I have pa 6, 7, 9, and 10, but I can't find an 8?
phantom -- stipend
does the 9-10 have anything to do with the 6-7?
no

lol in my dreams Jill
yeah, but I used it in a sentence...
just thought I'd ask, volley!
I do think she is magnificent... not many beauties like that
she is gorgeous -- who is she?
isn't it sophia loren?
Sophia Loren
seriously jili?? you don't recognize her
Sophia, right?
jili needs new glasses
the young Sophia?
hey, she still looks pretty much the same to me - quite amazing
this looks like Sophia in the 80s
I swear I didn't see all those other people name her
1980s, not her 80s
totally agree Helen
like helen said, you need new glasses jilli! :-)
hey, i saw on the oscars when they were doing the 'in memoriam' part, that carlo ponti died last year, i didn't know that
Ok, that was for melon's birthday Italian Movies theme, right?
I think I needed a new brain, not glasses
so we're looking for a pa 8 that is not there?
no jilli, not at all
must be... I thought you or mr said it... must have been mistaken
is the pa 9 a compound word?
you definitely don't need a new brain jilli, unless you can download your current contents and save them somewhre.
yes, the 9 and 10 are both compound words (as in they are two words in the grid put together)
does anyone else know the word 'cureo'?
thx DrB... finally got them
Now to find that 2nd un8
isn't it curio
can't find it either hugs
aaaaah....ofcourse..morning brain

I'm ready Dee
lay it on me dee!
I have the one that's not fixed
when children are misbehaving, we say they are un****... the 8 is a longer form of that word
ty so much Dee
thanks dee!
ty dee
you are quite welcome
still not seeing it dee
jade, it's the comparative of an adjective that is not in the grid because it ends in a Y
one child is more un**** than another one... harder to control... won't settle down...
ty Fran
yes, thank you Fran & Dee.....
yw
yw
i'm trying that ending on other words and it's working!
thx for the hint fran

we had 'aarrgh' as a word yesterday amiku!
hahahah!
Thats so awesome
pe** (a babbler) + abbrev for flats
conx -- think of the babbler pe**winkle, add "flats" to it
What do the numbers mean on lickity's site?
thanks une and jilli
ts une and jilli - got it not - what a silly word!
yw :-)
pe is a plural compound word. pe 4/5 + abbreviation for apartments
the number of letters in the word, and the point score
Hi Amiku - have you looked at the Help just above this - good introduction
not = now.... not awake yet - need tea and breakfast!
Urrr I did briefly lynxx
abbreviation for apartments?
hi everyone
biggie today
Amiku - read the explantion again so that you understand the tile scores and the way they multiply
I feel so silly XD
hello andree
Andree - Hi!
hi andree
Yeah I've read it all, lynxxx
or appropriate amiku
I'm just trying to understand lickity's thingy.
first number is number of letters, second is word score
Aniku -- Did you see my explanation? (scroll down)
OH
Amiku - the first number will be the number of letters - the second numbers are the point total for that word. Each tile has a point value on it - like Scrabble
I get it nowwwwwww
That's what I told you before, aniku
Sorry jillibus :(
Aniku -- don't forget to study Angelsong's link -- very very helpful!
Yes I will do
But not now :P
thank you guys so much
You're really helpful ^_^
morning all - computer back to normal, yay!

hi sprite
Morning. How are we all today?
Yeah sort of, sprite
hi hydra
Average, hydra, how about you?
hy hydra
hey hydra, just started and so far wondering how a grid like this can harbour almost 300 words
Fine, thanks. Going to take my film of the eclipse into the photography shop today. Yes, Sprite, I'm wondering the same thing.
morning Hydra
It's my birthday tomorrow. I've just realised.
Morning lynxxx, Andree, Sprite, Jillbus, Amiku. Why won't the grid accept Parp, as in Toad of Toad Hall's favourite word?
maybe we don't have the same grid ad everyone else, lol
Happy birthday tomorrow amiku!
has anyone found a word ending in tion?? or is it wasted in this grid?
congrats in advance, Amiku!
it appears to be wasted, volley
I haven't found one, Volleymom
think it might be wasted Dee
Thanks, jillibus, sprite.
how sad lol
So you guys all paid huh?
yeah, but most of us have been around here quite a while, Amiku. No need to pay right away ;)
yes, all who have icons have paid and it's really worth it
Hehehe
just found us. We are Pr4/5
Oh, so we are! Hadn't seen that.
it is the cheapest daily entertainment you will ever get
dont forget to add a con to the end of that one sprite
Add a letter and you get the German for 'cheers'! (Well, I think it's German)
Well I'm 16 as of tomorrow so I'd like to think that I have enough of a life to sustain myself for another couple of years :P
Amiku, if you click on the icons you get a profile of the player. There's also a daily theme for icons -- some of us enjoy following it, others prefer to stick with one of their own choosing
now now now, Andree, don't call us cheap!
Congrats for tomorrow, Amiku
thanks, hydra :)
speak for yourself sprite
then you certainly do, Amiku :)
Happy birthday for tomorrow Amiku - its mine today but I'm marginally over 16!!
haha thanks sprite.
life? whats that, lol
happy birthday jfb
JFB: Ta.... how big's your margin?
I think that would need another vowel in between, hydra, the german cheers. But thanks for the word :)
Happy Birthday to You!!!
Life? Isn't that the thing that is happening while I am busy doing something else?
Amiku, click on JFB's icon for the answer to that - lol!
babbling probably
Oh well, it's still a word, sprite
Okay then...
or worse, work
Put it this way - my youngest child is 4 years older than you
tee hee, only a few years older than me :)
Happy Birthday JFB!
and my youngest is twice your age
Wow.
don't have any kids.
:P
sounds pretty healthy for 16 LOL
Bur we do have some babblers who are younger than you, Amiku. There's one who's 13.
I should hope not, amiku!

bye Amiku
you can borrow mine, i don't seem to be using it liz
rofl Andree
There ,that's 2 words, victory is in sight, only 297 to go. So, on that reckoning I should be seeing fireworks by Easter!
lol andree
hello to all of you that have joined whilst I was having breakfast!
the love god is all tangled up in sn4/4 haz!
and we'll have a party to celebrate, lix :)
ConX :D
hi conX!
*hugs ConX*
hellooo :))))
Good morning Con.
*huddle cuddle*
Good grief, you can make an adjective from the ladies sparkly headgear....
that's the 4 syllable word I meant, that is only a 7, Haz!
thanks haz and sprite!
there's another s6/21...st... not liquid (s5.12 add t). more of it for 8/45
I usually shield my eyes from the word stats until later. I believe in being kind to myself....
Morning all I see you have been taking my name in vain again Haz :)
I THOUGHT that would bring you out of lurking mode. How are you this morning?
hi fmitch
thanks for that 8, ConX
hi fmitch
yw sprite!
btw anybody heard anything from kthdsn? has she arrived safely in canada?
don't think I have seen kate back on yet, no
Yes, she has arrived safely, Con.
LOL I'm a bit tired (worked late last night) but fine otherwise. Hows you Haz Hi ConX haven't seen you for ages. Hi Andree
hi fmitch!
Hey, the cat's come to help. Well, she's as likely to finish this monster as I am! Kate was on yesterday, she seems to be sorting things out just fine
thanx haz! I've been thinking of her and wondering how she was. s good to know she's got to where she wanted to go.
kate plays earlier now, different time zone
Hey Frannie
maybe like you fmitch, i lurk from time to time... AND i've been away for a week
I'm not too bad, thanks. I did my food handling exam last night and am pretty sure I've passed. Multiple choice questions with some laughable alternatives..
ah yes - that too, thanx fran... I'll log on at some strange time here and see if I can catch her.
To maintain food hygiene standards a food handler should (a) wear checked trousers (b) not work with a leg injury...... That kind of thing.
lol haz, makes you wonder how people fail those things
*checks checked*
Right, must go and get shower/breakfast/dressed.BBL
and how we still manage to get sick from restaurant food
Oh real hard stuff then!
or it's an advert for tartan!
later liz!
The tutor admitted that in the three years of teaching the course, she has only ever had one failure.
bye liz
bye liz
Its a bit like the £100 question on 'Millionaire' isn't it Haz?
ri6 please
100 left, doubt i will have time to finish, must have some dinner, bye all. happy babbling
bye andree!
It is, JFB - I had trouble keeping my face straight at some of the questions, or rather at some of the suggested answers to the questions.
oggy: think fencing or giving a smart remark
hi jfb!
Hi Fran
Bye Andree. Be sure to wear your checked trousers and wash your hands for 40 seconds using anti-bacterial handwash under water at between 45 and 47 degrees. Otherwise, it's curtains.
omg I found the 10!
woo hoo sprite!
wtg sprite!
I asked if the fact that I hadn't poisoned my family would qualify me but they said no!!
thanks sprite
still 10 x 7, 2x8 and 1x9 to go though :)
We're all only surviving by the skin of our teeth, JFB.
lol jfb!
lol Haz
i thought someone said the 10 was the plural of the 9? maybe i was wrong
maybe i read wrong
hey, how many words today?
299 thad
Fran, my 10 is not a plural. It is a prefix and another word.
ok thanks
Must go and shower and dress - having a slow start today - working 2.30 - 11.00 and its my birthday!! Life sucks sometimes!
thanks sprite, then i must have been the 9 is the plural of an 8
Happy Birthday, JFB!!
I hope so, Fran, still need some of them :)
happy birthday jfb!
Oh Happy Birthday JFB!!!
Happy birthday JFB! *hugs*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JFB !!!!!!!
I have all the 8's, but cant pl them for a nine... :(
Make sure this isn't the day that food poisoning gets you. Checked trousers and spray that sanitiser around.
many happy returns of the day JFB!
lol haz!
yayyyyyyy, got it. The 9 is the plural of the 10!
I've just found sn5.10 and mu6.27 at the same time which made me lol! Thank you all
well that's probably why i don't have the 9 or the 10 yet conX, reading the clues wrong
Conxshun the 9&10 aren't related to the 8s
... and i'll stop looking for things that aren't there
lol jfb, those two words probably are related
hence the confusion, Fran!
woo hoo sprite!
i found them!!
latin plural, shorter than the latin singular here
i was trying the wrong prefix
pe7/36 - 8/50 amulet(s)
mu6? is it related to the sn5?
thanks sprite! that finishes my 8s
conx, only if the one who sn5 is really loud and their partner resorts to the mu6
yay Fran! I have Pe, St and Un for 8s, could you tell me what I am missing?
another un8 sprite
oh darn, figures. Thanks Fran :)
that should read *resorts to mu6 (take out the)
got it! Thanks again.
i knew you would sprite. :-)
pr7 please
yx fran am looking, but not good with dealing with sn5 people
it helps when un-words are followed by real words :)
ConX: mu: to kill
oggy: pr7 before the uproar in the streets
thanks sprite, always miss that pr7.
thanks sprite
The period when the barmen are preparing the Molotov cocktails....
oh GOD! fish please...! thank you! Now i know what to do when I am kept from my sleep by sn5s
I have a new babble rule, Fran. If there is a P around, I try all Re words as P...
good one sprite, i'll have to remember that
lol Haz, nice one!

hi ya ARB
Hi Hodag
Where is area 5?
wayhay!!! wordy in the chat log! :))) (another one!)
Michigan,north
Upper Michigan? I'm originally from Milwaukee
we go to Wis. every summer for the country fest. in Rhinelander
I haven't lived in WIs since I went away to university over 50 years ago. Have visited often, because there is still family, but it's all in the Milwaukee area.
you are a long way from home! :)
From that home, indeed
can anyone help me with the ai7 pls?
ai 7/32 is a compound word -- way to send letters
ai7 was in the grid a little while ago - compound - method of sending letters
thank you arb and lynxxx! easy once you know!
I'm hating this grid! anyone want to6.24 & 7.36 ?
I do! I do! Pick me. I'll take it.
i'll go for to7/36, and am now looking for to 6/24 ;)
I have to 7/36, but not 6/24
to + water is a f****
oops and then a vowel on the end for the 7
tx Lynxxx
Water is fun? Water is wet? Water is huh?
how can to + water turn into an f word????
water is a F**** means that the next part of the word is the last four letters of a word beginning with f.
ah ok.... erm.... let me think.... no, still blank :(
ARB, silly girl, we know that. We just can't come up with the word. 8)
give me 5 gramma!
aaah - I thought you didn't understand cluing
Because there are those who don't.
Slap
yep - that'll be us.... just special clueing is good for us... ;)
ARB, I get the cluing, just to dense to get what it means. Sorry
It's the snow in Middlebury!
good this stereo talk eh gramma? saying the same thing in different ways so its easy to understand (for us!!)
With me playing straightman
Gramma, how cold is it in Middlebury? It's fifteen below in Rutland.
Well that helped me find SO5/12. But alas, no to
i have 11 below in rutland
29 with the wind chill
Gail, it's too cold to check. We're about the same I imagine
it's a toasty 5 below in central NH
Too cold for March, even in Vermont.
sore
that describes the grid kristine!
damn sorry
45 on Sunday.....Wahoo
You New Englanders have had a late hard winter. My daughter in Burlington was bragging about the warmth in December.
it was beautiful in december ARB
summer will probably come in september this year
Oh cliffopa, let's not rush it. September??? so early
This should be the last cold spell. Right? Right?
not yet gail
lol gramma
Hello Babblers. How is the grid?
it SUCKS
lol
Now. Back to business....TO + water is f?
not easy, Scrabbler
defend yourself scrabbler....!
soped
Scrabbler, it's delightful if you like hitting your head with a hammer?
I will shoot for 50%--some in the next 15 min, some tonight.
Hi Scrabbler . Don't hesitate to use list
if i do that one more time someone please slap me
lots of good clues for all 8's earlier today
My life is all about hitting my head with a hammer.
Wham, bam, Kristine!
I will,I will...pick me...slap!
Kris - you could join most of us in the penalty box with donuts instead
HEY :-((((((((((((((((((((((
hey vi like donuts
and hey i cant type either
Are there any bagels?
At least give us a real word.
Is there hot coffee, too?
we're working on a to word something about water anf an f
Chocolate? red wine?
and even
whatever you like, as long as you type in LOTS of GOOD words in the chat!
LOL
I have to get to work. See you all in a bit. Well actually after 4:30. ( gramma sulks off, crying and muttering to herself. Stoopid work. I don't want to go!)
The TO word is a chemical, a white crystiline substance.
Bye gramma!
bye gramma
bye Gramma - enjoy your day
oh ok that clarifies i lol
water, milk, booze, they are all f****s - the start of this sounds like a really really bad cold/ aching joints)
bye gramma!
ciao gramma
oh ty lynxx
Bye Gramma
Gbless lol
Thank you for that send off!!! To + water is a f****. DOH!
oh hurrayyyyyyy!!! thank you lyn xxx - i found it.... :)))) I found a word! I found a word!
Yahoo ConXshun! A small victory!
ConXshun, that's enough out of you. Now quit dancing around and just sit down. DO NOT touch the computer until I get back.
Oh ConXshun - don't rub it in - I am struggling with every word
in this grid, scrabbler - its HUGE!!!
just cos you want me to sulk with you gramma.....
ok, i;ll start struggling again... :( *calms down in sympahty with fellow babblers*
So far i am finding easy words on my first pass, but all baby words.
can you give me the 2nd de 4/5 then? my brain's stopped....
I got halfway and came to a grinding halt scrabbler
The only de4 I have is a sweetie
Good morning/evening again.

Hi Haz. I'm STILL here

I know, Scrabbler, we share a common enthusiasm. No addiction at all.
Ok, OK, Kristine, let's attack this grid....gggggrrrrrrrrrr!
Hello lynxxx - nice to see you STILL here.

Hi Kristine. Bye Hodag

amen sista
hi wolvie! take care of the grid - enter at your own risk
lol
yes lynnnate dawn
Hi Wolvie
looks interesting today con, I'll take the plunge. ;-)
So what was the 2nd de4,5, ConXshun?
as long as you're wearing water-wings
;-)
di 6 & 7 ... d + I need to **** the clothes after I wash them but insert last vowel after the first letter of that word
de plus what this grid makes me feel like (only single consonant)
di6 - di plus a vowel, then Pres Reagan shortened
ty haz
sooo much better Haz - I'll just stop trying to clue now
and lynxx
Don't be silly lynxxx!
phone!
can anyone clue the 10?
a clue hmmmm it has 10 letters !!
:-/
hillary - first find the po6/30 - a small platform. Then put a four letter prefix beginning pa in front. The pa prefix comes before trooper and military in some circumstances.
pa/10 pa**legal plus po 6/30
pa9 follows the same idea, but make the ending a latin plural.
tks haz, I had the po6/30, would never have thought of adding that prefix!
ty haz - great clue
**thinking of a platform starting with po...??**
You're welcome - got it earlier from the chat log.
tum tum tum tum tum...rhymes with the ending
P plus a word for hatred...(od5/16)
anyone got a clue for the qu?
sounds like per diem scrab minus the r
kinda sorts anyway
the 10 is two words joined the pa 4 and the po 6
Oh, I was looking at the other P, 4th column. to start the po
qu plus the beginning of the opposite of even for qu4.
OK, I have the 9 and the 10, life is good, and I must get ready for work, against my will.
bye scrabbler
tell me a bit about the 9 scrabber!
what does the 9 start with??
The grid will be waiting for you when you get back, Scrabbler. Drive carefully.
Latin plural of the 10
go acros the bottom and up to the um
ah - ty
<does not know latin
I work, then volunteer at the cancer institute, so I will be back at 7:30 or so, my time
pa9 - on the basis that stadium is singular, and stadia is plural, apply the same rules to the pa10 to make the pa9
TYV HAZ
m
You're welcome.
thanks haz, and anyone got a clue for pa10?
Great clue, as usual, Hazel. When is your book coming out? "Strategies for Babble Clues: A Study of the Subtle and the Obvious."
Or, Babble for Dummies. Or, The Idiot's Guide to Babble.
I'll have to start work on it soon, Scrabbler. That's a catchy title.
pa10 was clued just down the page, bhavya (6.17 onwards)
Bye! (I can't be late for work and say that I was stuck in Babble Land.)
hagd Scrab
The men in the white coats from the home for the bewildered would be hovering..... Bye Scrabbler, see you later.

DAMN OUCH THAT HURT
haz - do you mean a word that usually ends in oic??
We've had that word in grids before, and I stated then, as I do now, that though they may be offensive, they are words. Glad to see the grid isn't politically correct
nono kris. the c word beCAME bad throughout the ages.... oh.... maybe the f word was normal once too.
Kristine - Mousey is very young , as well as others, so please watch out

I think my printer exploded! How many freakin' words in this grid today please?
299
maybe we could to7/36 it?
yikers
Wolvie - no, it sounds the same as the opposite of liquid or gas, for instance, but with a t.
Perhaps we should change gears for a bit, with mosey present?
299? No way. Really? Nooooooooo
ahh - ty haz
i didnt realize there were young ones in here
I love a big grid today, because I don't have to work. heh heh heh
Glad that helped.
usually heard in conjunction with staid. :-)
Yes, there are young people who play.
never thought about a comparative for that word. silly me. ;-)
well my sincerest apologies then
There often is Kristine so always better to safe
NO KRIS DID IT BLAMING IT ON EVERYONE FOR YOUR BIG POTTY MOUTH!!!!!!
it will never happen again
It sounds even duller than the adjective, if such a thing is possible!

re's always mess with my head. Not sure why.
I haven't peeked yet - probably will soon. :-)
LOL Lori, so did I - I never do that this earlyon but had to see if the long ones were re's in which case I would have gone out and found a convenient ice floe. But they aren't

May I please have clues for the other 8's, 9's and the 10 - might as well ask for them all at once :-)

That one Wolvie?
ahhh. ty lori
Sorry, that's all I have. Back I go!

Annie, not a yardstick, smaller, kids keep them in their desks to measure
Then, add a 3rd vowel, after the 2nd vowel

Hello all, back after lunch for another go at the grid.
amen annie. ;-)
hi haz
Hi Haz
LOL sorry. Terrible clue. I'll be quiet now
hello Haz
wb Haz. How was lunch?
lori, it was a great clue ---just a stupid word
Hello everyone - back for another go
hello arb
wb ARB
hi ARB
I am in the grid again :)
Lunch was fine - not very interesting, though!
Afternoon all! Ouch only managed 112 quickly. First problem is nu7, 40
hi alleyn
G'd morning Alleyn
Good afternoon Alleyn.
Afternoon
nuculor?
nu plus a wrongly spelt Glasgow river
hi sam
nu 7/40 is a scientific term -- starts with the center of the atom and then mispelling of the word fibbed
nu plus sounds like man's name - usually spelled with a y
good clue, ARB
and haz
hey wolvie
Great clue. Thanks.
Time to turn to the 8s I think. Clues would be good!
how many words today
I have 2 un's and one st 8 - I am missing the last one myself
299
299
hi gobraves
299 and not a single one more
less than 300
what are the first two letters of the 10?
lol...thanks guys
clue for the st8 plz wolvie
hi wolvie!
te
pe8/50 - plural of pe7/36 - the oft appearing babbler in the grid, plus a word for suitable. Then plural.
st8 - a comparative for an adjective meaning impassive, unemotional.
does anyone have the first two letters of the ten letter word?
suitable?
Anne - it's pa10 (latin singular of pa9)
pa annie
Suitable, appropriate, shortened form of apartment
oh ah - ty haz
You're welcome.
Can you give a blond version of that clue please Haz?
was using wrong p. :-)
thanks Haz for the 8's
I'm missing both of the UN6/24, any clues please?
The babbler with the blue flower (first first letters) plus a shortened form of apartment, for pe7, then plural for pe8
un = a book you haven't **** yet
first four letters of babbler....
mandatory work meeting...good money says bad news
well - that leaves me with 99 still to go (jeez), but I must take a break - bbl I hope
un + not go but **** (**** sign)
Not to worry evanonut - it pays the bills.
may I please have another clue for the 9 and 10
Later Wolvie
how many words are there
299
299
my goodness
nutsy, see you later
peri - first find the small platform (po6/21). Then prefix it with a four letter pa word which precedes trooper or military. The pa9 is formed in the same way, but is the latin plural and ends in a vowel.
Silver clue please for the pe9 and st8. I'm stumped and need them before booking a holiday. Done the 9 and 10
Got it. (finnaly...duh me) Thanks haz!
thanks so mjch Haz, never would have found them
Later nut.
*much*
st8 - first think of a word which describes something that is not a liquid or a gas. Then put a t after the s to make the adjective for impassive, unmoving (st6) , Make it a comparative (and even more dull) for st8
Haz, I never would have found the 9 and 10...maybe if I found each word separately and put them together
You're welcome, Annie and peri.
Haz, thanks agin
Even if you had drawn me a map, and done an interpretive dance, I still wouldn't have found them.
Haz. You brick st8 done!
pe9 - first four letters that precede 'winkle' in the babbler's name with the blue flower icon. Then rearrange the letters of the postman with the black and white cat....
Haz, you are remarkable.
Lori - the thought of me doing an interpretative dance will make me smile all afternoon!
Pe7 that is - plural for pe8.
If it made you smile, I'm glad to return the favor. :-)
I have all the 8, 9, and 10's---thanks to Haz
Well done Annie!
Yea Annie!
Bless Haz. Off to phone. Anyone know whether Marrakech is warm in November?
i'm sorry. i'm a bit slow... i don't get the postman with a black and white cat bit
It's bound to be Alleyn - does it ever get cold there? Bloodaxe would know.
anagram a *** on the back for a job well done
Ah, the postman has a shortened version of the patron saint of Ireland.
Gobiaetc. You need grandkids for that clue!!!!!!!!11
I picked it to suit, Alleyn - I thought you'd know!
Okay, need more coffee. There are 2 ai's spots on the grid. That would explain my frustration....
You all need me too well. I do work two days a week as well as being a silver grandmother. But again based around children............
I reckoned with George in the picture you'd have to have a working knowledge of Greendale and its characters.
D'you think P***man P** has a thing going with Mrs Goggins?
No, indeed - sure he's happily married to Sarah.
Forever popping in for cups of tea though..draw your own conclusions!!
But it's only when he's picking up more letters and parcels. No, he's innocent, I'm convinced of it.
Has anyone caught Shaun the Sheep?
I saw it highlighted in the paper as being a must watch. Did you see it yet?
I have 6 left and they are all u's -- 4 un's and 2 ur's
Yes! There are 2 x 7 minutes at 3.45pm on BBC1. It is hilarious for children and adults alike.
I ahve those ifyou need help Alleyn
Oops, I meant ARB
u + re5/12
Sorry
I must make a point of watching, Alleyn.
oh no! I forgot about Shaun the Sheep! Was it on yesterday? Now I'm going to cry, on this lovely spring day. :'(
u + re4/5
completed! what a PAIN. i hate PA words
Yes. Each day!
*sniffle* hello everybody
bbl
Every day!! :D
I'm more of a Transformers and Thundercats fan myself.....
what in the world aare you ladies talking about? :-D
Later peri
hi and bye, peri
Hello Babbler - it'll probably become a modern classic and be repeated.
I loved in the the film, when Shaun the Sheep was sheered, and they called him... Shorn. lol!!
It might be on YouTube as we speak, Haz! Hello. : )
Thank you Une -- the ur's are finished. Down to 3 un's un 7/40, un 7/36, un 7/36
Une - children's television - Shaun the Sheep is from the same production company as Wallace and Grommit. Genius in plasticine.
Those un words are stinkers. Maybe time for clues........
Une - we're talking about Wallace & Gromit, there was a sheep called Shaun. Well Shawn's got his own mini-series now.
aaahhh, OK, thanks!
I'm more of a Transformers and Thundercats fan myself.....
Thought I might show our US friends what they're missing. Does this look like an innocent man to you?
Did you buy any Transformer toys, MM?
How can you have sympathy with a Transformer?
My kids LOVE Transformers. They have many of them
Certainly did, Babbler, especially Megatron and Optimus Prime....
un7/36 not sleepy
C;lue for mu6/27 please?
The Transformers have certainly become big again, what with the upcoming live-action movie
Fireworks. Finally . Whew
Anyone remember the ad for them the first time round? "Transformers - robots in disguise!"
hydra, homicide
Way-hey, ARB
hydra, mu**** most foul
congratulations, ARB!
Thanks pabtrek. Doh!
Well done ARB
thanks, sam!
I certainly do, babbler, a highlight of my childhood!!!!!
congrats, ARB!
Isn't it strange, the way you can stare for ages and miss a really easy word.
mu6/27 took place on the Orient Express.
Congrats ARB!
un7/40 not fettered
yw. that one was a killer ;->
yes, hydra! :-)
happens to me all the time hydra
LOL
criminal, eh?
The first ai 5/10 please?
felonious monkey
*groan*
aia 5/10 -- kind of pasta sauce with oil and garlic
sam...isnt he a jazz pianist?
groan was yesterday's grid
ai5/10 - the garlic sauce, ai plus the lubricant reworked
st** it!! LOL
un7/36 liquid
BRB . . . coffee
Thank ye muchly. I was totally stumped on that.
un7 coffee?
very international
rolin, yes, and a babble helper
Sam! Explanation of your clue please.
I am clueless. torturing Une with puns is all.
and consider me well tortured . . .
*takes a bow*
But do you have your coffee?
YOu meanine Sam!
yes!
Mine's downstairs
I meant...You meanie Sam!
you mean it?
on days like today, yes.
I mean you mean I'm mean?
I used to torture my French Berlitz students with "She used to be used to being used" . . . now, explain!
there's no time like the present to present the present
LOL, Une! How is everyone this morning?
punny
good! and you, jade?
So. The 8s are 2 x un8. Clues please
awake for once, and almost on time, Une.
un8/50 unmend
unmend?
un8/50 - un plus what a tradesman will do to fix what is wrong, un8/50 - comparative adjective for one class being more riotous than another.
Alleyn use re6/21
oh, my, haz . . . how thorough of you!! LOL
& if I haven't found that!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
haz's clue is much better
Well, it's either being thorough or starting to do interpretative dance (Lori's suggestion)
I have the 2 u8s and the st 8, what's the other?
:-)
pe8/50 (plural of pe7/36)
found it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc_ 78x36lJM
that's shaun the sheep
Thanks, Babbler - I'll watch it later.
good plan. it's delightful. : )
Ok, time to jet. Have fun all!
Bye Jade - have a good day.
Later Jade
Well thank you kindly I have just discovered youtube. Easier than those un8 words!
don't get the un8/50 clue
The cu's gave me a headache.
Which one pab?
i have the un+mend one
un + **n a marathon + tell a *** (fib) + *un a marathon
pab - un8/50= un+more like a measuring stick
thanks LoriP
yw
I still don't
I am snowblind to the di 6 and 7. Anyone?
di plus a late vowel, and a shortened version of Pres Reagan's name
Got the mend one!
Wow. Thank ye muchly Haz! That interpretive dance thing is working out quite nicely!
Alleyn - The un8 is based on a un6 word, ending in y which indicates one who is out of control, not abiding by regulations etc. Make it a comparative by dropping the sometimes vowel, replacing it with a vowel and a comparative ending.
I never would have gotten that in a month of Sundays
All that swaying, Lori, the dog is giving me funny looks...
LOL
good afternoon everybody quick visit this afternoon:)
Neither would have I. Haz, do you have your dancing shoes on?
Hello jean
G'd morning jean
Hello jean - 299 words - how can it be a quick visit?
Isadora Duncan, eat your heart out.
LOL

Good afternoon Atalante!
cu 4 is a nughty word for female parts
hi atalante:)

G'd morning Atlante

*flops* just come back from loooong (slow) walk with pup. she's feeling better. the hole in her pad is still there, but its healing - hurray!
you're not supposed to see it!
Great - glad to hear she's on the mend.
how'd she get a hole in her pad? poor baby!
stood on a pointy stick *facepalm*
poor pup, glad to hear she is healing
OUCH! reminds me of when I was little and knelt on a sewing needle
so glad she's able to take a long walk!
Don't talk to me about sewing needles....

hey, gwen
hello Gwen
hi Gwen
G'd morning BDG
hello and bye gwen:)
Good morning Gwen.
very limited time today, so diving into the grid
clue for the ha7 please
ha = to drag something, or in it for the long **** + I am f***cely adamant that is a stoopid word
pabtrek - one who moves consignments of goods, add a comparative ending to the dragging ha4/6
pab, ha 4/6---make it comparative
that's a word?
Lori - it's a normal word in Britain.
thanks lori, haz and annie
Une, I guess that's a word....
LOL Haz, never heard it in my life. Along with a bazillion other words.... :-)
is it a brit noun or adjective??
noun
as in a firm of ha7s
It's a noun - someone who is prepared to do the shifting.

pion
and enomis jumps right in!!

Must be getting a little snug in that penalty box....
and plural...

The penalty box is getting very crowded...chocolates are a big draw
shallow breaths, everyone . . .
Suggesting we're overweight?
it is in french, gwen!
never, haz!
Heavens no! Lots of babblers in there
yeah i used to wear the ugly things, too! LOL
That's okay then...
Time to do the laundry...*opening door and releasing all the babblers...you can take your chocolates with you*
ooohhh, how generous, annie!
Happy laundering Atlante
so we're all Babbla Rasa?
Thank you Annie.
repost???
ops again! I meant Annie
my generosity is endless when it pertains to chocolate

I only have one monkey, and tht's to put something away, past tense

cu 7 is more of the cu 4/6
hi everyone! : )
Sorry Monkey. :(
st6/21 can either be impassive, lacking in emotion. or another one is four letters for the opposite of go, plus the us medical drama - the one who does the action.
G'd afternoon TO.
Lori. Of course!
and the cu7, 40?
thanks haz...i got the medical drama one...stuck on the impassive
the word im' thinking of isn't in there
cu 7/40 is more of the cu 4/7 believe it or not
Got it all on my own...........
cu7/40 - a comparative relating to the Little Miss Muffet food.
was it "stoic"? I tried that one, too
cu 7/40 is more of the little miss muffet's stuff
Haz - I guess we are on the same wave length
jen...that's what i thought. not there though
Monkey - the word rhymes and is structured almost exactly like the opposite of a liquid or gas.
think not liquid or gas....with an added letter in there

Not to mention the babblers.
weird babblers? I thought that was a given, Haz.
True, a redundant statement.
that was a short walk, Haz!
I know - not allowed to walk too far with this leg....
what's wrong with your leg?
Sciatic nerve is playing up....
oh -- ouch!!!
Exactly!
have you tried a muscle relaxant? --- we have an over the counter med here called ParafonForte, which is part analgesic and part muscle relaxant -- doesn't cure anything, but sure does relieve the pain.
does anyone else think htis gird is fairly difficult?
Apparently when the nerve is inflamed it causes the surrounding muscle to spasm
yeeeeeeeees!!!
Just waiting till I'm down to 100 before going for the list
TO...not so much difficult as looooong !!
I've got a couple of tablets prescribed by the doctor, and they're easing it a bit, but the pain never goes away completely. It could be worse.
valium is helping that ofr me. but i still have muscvle spasms
any clues for the pa9/10???
The problem with valium is that you shouldn't drive after taking it. Can't have any alcoholic beverages either.
You don't appreciate how well the body is put together until one part goes wrong.

And you would probably do the hand gestures too!
Ack! 2 words shy, now I have to do that annoying backtracking. ***insert curse words here ***
I was just about to ask if anyone finished yet...and Lori, you are on the cusp of greatness!

Oh, yes, TO, I am feeling absolutely shogunal and hebetational and froer and naio right now
Do you think dollar coins will be accepted this time around?

Hi Kylie--welcome to Babble Land
G'd evening kylie. I'm middle age....
hy kylier, I'm old! ( :
No, what happened, Mrs Featherbottom--and is your name for real?
hi kylier, I am very old
lol thanks well im 24 im from australia and i have no idea how to play this game
And I am also middle-age, as painful as that is to say
what happened with the coins?
lol... for real? They forgot to put "in god we trust" on a bunch of them
they omitted in god we trust , are they bigger than the others Scrabbler
Well, dive in, kylie and start finding words. Read the help section and scroll down to Angel's page, and also go to lickety's page
you can get them on ebay for like $50... your dad should check his coins!
My father showed me that some words are engraved on the edges
kylier, the help button has a few tips, right above this chat box.....after that, if you look in "friends of babble" (bottom left) you'll see angelsong's page which has good pointers, and finally lickety's babble clues, which is where we find the first two letters of words.
ok... those are the words that may be missing
ok Kylier, enough joshing. You can read up about the game in HELP above the chat log, or in Anglesongs Bable page (find in left corner under Friends ofBabble)
lickety's list has words listed in this form, ad5/14, which means it starts with ad, is 5 letters long, and 14 points. look to the "help" button over chat box for points/scoring tips
Mrsfeatherbottom, I was wondering if you chose a funny name in honor of our Queen Featherbee here, who we admire muchly
NP thanks
nope... did you ever watch arrested development??
hey all! How's it going today? YIKES! 299????
