it changes throughout the day teague, and depending on what the person wants. We try to make it fun and indirecct. Early in teh day (night), when the grid is new, people usually don't give more than the re7/28 variety of clues (i.e. begins with re , is 7 letters long and worth 28 points). This devolves, in the wee hours of the morning when people are getting deperate, into pretty direct ones like " third vowel, etc). But it is always best to start with creative and indirect and then if the person asks for more guidance, give it then
ok, back again!
in terms of how many points a word is worth, you can find all of that info on Angels' or lickety's sites, which are listed at the bottom of this page

teague, just in case you didn't know how the points work, if it's a 4 letter word, they're worth the point value on the tiles. if it's a 5 letter word, add the tiles, and double for the points. so if reho was a word, it would be re4/5. if rehow was a word, it would be re5/20 (rehow is 10 points, then double for 20). and so on, 6 letter words are tripled, etc

no...but wait, please. Am still not clear about these tile thingies...my original question was this: like, I have counted on my Word List, that I have 7 R words. and it says, in this one row, R 7/8. then, however, in the row bofre that, it says, R 0/2....why is that? That is the thing that I'm not getting. If you have a minute...thanks.

the r 7/8 means you hvae found 7 of the 8 r words that being w/ that r and the r 0/2 means you have not found any of the r words that begin w/ that letter

okay, then you still need 2 of the r words that start from a different r...I just found them. They are: re 5/18 & re 6/30-to make something damp again and plural

you probably didn't have those words yet piker because each word can only come from one tile on the grid. If you enter in those two words, your R tile should go from 0/2 to 2/2 (those are the right ones right Ren?)
