Oh, I'm finding lots of unacceptable words -- here's The World According to Garp

edgar doesn't appreciate not being counted
I know, sigh
he is right about that
some names do, tho -- like alan, I think
and there's an ma5 name that works

Hi diem

Got them, too, sprite.
OMG, I got the sm7/44!!!!!
Yay, jilli!
just add a vowel for the 8, jilli
wtg jilli i havent even tried yet

Just did, sprite, thx. You know what? My study of Gt Dane pedigrees did it -- there was a kennel in Germany with that name and it just popped out of my memory bank!
woot jilli! wtg girrrrl :)
Hi Diem - give me 5mins and I will send e-mail
hello again
The sm7 kennel bred harlequins, had their first litter in 1924 - very influential (I have all this info on file cards)

bye diem
I have given up dieting i droped to 100kilos then piled 10 on so meh
By Diem
sleep well Diem
oh yes, yoyo-ing is so unhealthy, I am told.
I should go back to it. Healthy eating worked
if "ohed" is a word, why isn"t "ahed"?
yes, not dieting but eating healthy and not skipping any meals, 3 meals a day and fruit or something like that in between. And lots of water. I lost 20 kg that way and felt much better.
jilli, it is ohed and aahed. Enable logic. Go figure.
if he 8 is a word why isnt headtarp?
I should do that again. The cat is asleep at my feet
also eating bread is very good.
enable illogic. Some French words, not others. And so on. But it gives us lots to grouse about lol
I eat brown bread. There is a ridiculous book promoting the Vegan Diet as 'cows milk products make you fat'
oh, I love hating enable!
is it a bad thing when the letters start to blend together?
mmm depends Jade
Just when we have no money petrol rates go up :(
Jade: not at all, especially not when they make words that way
I mean, I think that's an m, might be an r, or maybe even a b....
opens up zillions of possibilities, Jade!
none of which are getting me words, spritey!
LOL
I think it's time for some shut eye.....I'll be back on later. Promise!
night Jade

Good didnt yowl till about 630am and that was when people got up and left her in the back room. I bathed her today and shes all soft and pretty now. No she didnt scratch me. I had my shower, had her in the room with me and then washed her when i had a towel on. Not a scratch on me. SHe yowled twice at the indignity but is fine now
sounds like she has settled in well.
Yep. She has a nice growl going on when you tell her off. So has Russian white blood.
right that was a quick visit, hope to bbl, Happy Babbling everyone:)
see you later jean
Later Jean
i am sill like sonny09
Sunny the kitty is pure white so she has to get used to baths as white cats get filthy and can get stuff on them too
sunny09 is silly
but she must be beautiful Herin. Whites are lovely when clean.
she is a pretty little thing
She is tiny she would weigh about 3kilos and has a massive attitude
Hi Sunny & Infernal - and anyone else lurking in the background

wow! a very very quiet chat!! are all the UK buddies still sleeping? I know my aussie friends are stuffing their faces :)
Hi
I am LJING
*whistle whistle whistle* (((I am scared on my own)))
hi infern :)
I just watched the bestest movie!!
it is called 'the wrong man' with josh hartnett, morgan freeman, ben kingsley, lucy liu, bruce willis... it was like the old cary grant movie 'north to northwest' just wowed me!
Gooooooooood morning, Australia!
jb!!!! (((hugs)))
MrP! How are you - looking chipper in the chat, eh?
hello just popping in quickly
{{{{{mrpresident}}}}
I love seeing my black & white puss cat friend!
hi liz!! :))
yeah, just took my evening drugs jb... got a lease of life for a couple of hours... sad sad
Aww, thanks. It's Jellen's cat, she let me borrow it (indefinitely!)
GM, Liz!
how are you doing MrP?
Hey, where did herin go?
Are you still damp Mr Pres?
doing ok liz!! have discovered the magic of rest and relaxation again :)
So, mrp, you're home, you're medicated - life's good?
infern is in & out of the grid... there she is!
Here, kitty, kitty, herin! Did you get a new cat?
Good for you MrP! Everyone's always wondering and asking about you!
life is much better at home, hospital was trying but the best for me at the time... and the medication is working thank you!
I am going to ask lickety to put my xray pics up in flickr tonight
Oh, there's NOTHING like a good sleep - I wish I still was sleeping!
infern!! new cat???
You know, we just really want to see your insides, mrp!! <grin>
Maybe I should change my icon to one of my cats! Everyone's cat mad in here and I do have 5 to pick from lol
why are you up so late jb? surely it is too early?
It
oh, my insides are something to write home about! gross and very 'ewwwwwww' able
(sorry, typing challenged this morning) It's 5:43am here, woke up an hour ago
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww lol
LOL liz!
LOL! (quietly, as not to wake DH!)
Jb we got our new baby yesterday. Shes still a kitten about 5months old
what woke you? a rooster with a death wish?
no sorry 8mths
Been waking up real early for about 2 weeks now
I am here.
awwww herin! What colour, what name?
aaaaaaawwwww, herein!
No roosters this high (14th floor) but we do get some ambitious pigeons!
I wanna see the kittie !!!!
She has mostly white Russian. We are not sure of her back ground as she was found out the side of the road at 4weeks.
Pigeona that crow at day break!
OK
we used to have a Russian Blue years ago - I bet shes beautiful
You'd better let her hold the kitty, herin - we don't want to upset her now that she's got her meds on board!
I remember when I lived in europe, we had chickens... and this mad rooster that would crow at 3am, setting off all the dogs in the hood, setting off all the shotguns in the houses
Like I said, Liz, ambitious!
We have two donkeys and they bray at 5am everyday *rolls eyes*
lol JB
Did anyone ever hit the rooster, mrp, or were there just random holes left in the ceilings?
oh liz!! I gave my dad a russian blue kittie that some idiot dumped outside our house! It was the best cat ever!
lovely aren't they? Nowadays I just have moggies - 4 gingers and one brown
just random shots out the windows... these people were... you know.... (((woohoo... nuts!)))
I'm so glad she 'found' you, herin. I think people who abandon animals are cowards
LOL, mrp! Whoo hooo!
I love woofies too... I want another dog and another cat and I just got another fish (very sneekily) today
woooooohooooo !!!
how do you get a fish sneakily? lol I have two woofies!
Theres a kitty
And...you have 4, um, 5 kids, too?
Oh, yes, built in caretakers!
[waiting to hear mrp's fish tale]
well, we desperately needed another catfish to clean the algea that was about to be created by the new rock and plant centrepiece that I bought...
who me JB? I only have two kids lol
very late flip!
I just changed my icon to kitty. She had a reasonable good home but didnt have the attention needed, her owner dumped her on a friend for ages then left her permanently.
(( fran!! )) great to see you!
Welcome, FM!
oh oh look at her Herin! What did you name her?
Oh, lookit the kitty!! She looks very sweet, herin
hi JBs! hi mrp!!
is that the new kitty infernal?
hi Fran
Her Name is Pandora. My friend named her.
hi liz!
it is too easy to walk into a petshop with all the good intentions of 'just looking'... and leave $200 poorer
she's lovely infernal. :-)
Pandora? Thats sweet - suits her
Not you, Liz, but MrP! If *I* had several children, the first thing I would think is 'yes, I think we need more animals around here'
hee hee
very sweet looking puss
She is at my foot right now.
Keep Pandora away from boxes, herein!
we have enough animals to build a zoo and if you count my husband I guess you could say I actually have 3 kids lol
Mr pres hand over your cards
oh, the more kids and animals, the less you have to clean.... blame it all on them
I bathed her today too
I LIKE the way you think, mrp!!! LOL!
I wish MrP!!! Trying to move house at the mo so cleaning has to be done :( Shame! LOL
Did you know that house work is bad for your health?
i'm sure that's true infernal, that's why my husband is so healthy. :-)
Liz, moving is a nightmare!! I wish you well and pass you the tablets
whys that then?
*swallows the tablets fast*
housework is bad for your back and nails and personally, I have only every seen it in magazines
lol MrP
Raises the dust, makes you sneeze. I'm allergic to housework!
yep. Aparently using a dish cloth to dry dishes is bad
I heard that most dish cloths harbour more germs than a toilet seat BLEUGH!
there is this one magazine, designed to make you look really inferior and like the worst housekeeper on the planet... I am their calendar girl for filthy february
yep i have never used a dryer for drying my dishes
oh, the worst offender??? the tv remote control!!
You want to watch my fav programme - How Clean is Your House! Makes you feel sooooo good about your own home!
i believe that mrp.
Oh and the antibacterial stuff bad. the air freshener worse
Computer keyboards - very bad too! LOL
we have something similar liz, it does make me feel better!
Liz i love that show but dont get it much here just a random thing
Speaking for myself (along with making some assumptions about the average age of the current conversationalists) I'm old enough to have seen that there's something BAD for you with MOST everything: coffee (yeah, right!), eggs, water from plastic bottles, being outside, being inside, and small children....
Liz, the program rocks!! I look around and think I am living in the most pristine conditions after watching that show
yep JB you're right there
me too MRP! lol
Hey kids eat snot next question
LOL jb!! lock the animals away! they will die from all that stuff
ok brb dinner needs fixing
later infernal!
Hey, isn't that the show that they take germ samples from stuff around the house?
C ya, herin!
my kids have to wash their hands BEFORE handling our pets LOL
yes JB
http://www.channel4.com/4homes/ontv/ho w_clean_is_your_house/
JBs, what kills people (or hurts them) is the stress of worrying about all the things that can hurt them!
LOL Fran
I'll have to check it out later, Liz, I have to go get ready for work, it's an early in day today.
Right you're bringing out the guilt in me! I'm off to do some cleaning.....and promise to try not to harm myself in the process! LOL
It's what keeps the psych people in business for sure!
see you later JBs!
have fun all of you :)
later liz!
Oh, look, what's that over there, on the left - is that a...grid? I see words.....
You Babblers ROCK! I wish I could call in sick, but I'm not (dang it)
lol JBs.
BBL! {{{FranMag, Liz, mrp, herin (and Pandora!)}}} hope you have a happy grid and day. *poof*

HI Rae
Angel--I have them at ikeepbookmarks.com. TY so much! Now, with KeePass--which version to do use? There is 1.07 etc, and I didn't know which to use.
Enabl wants us all to go grey!
*EnablE
I am going grey--it's been about 10 yrs now. I have natural white highlights and look very mature.
scrabbler, just a minute; I'll check
Can't even say 'arrgh!' It won't allow that, or its past tense. LOL
ad 5/16?
is that a free site?
Scrabbler, 1.07 is the version of KeePass you need
Yes, Lady. Angel is a wealth of knowledge about computers!
thanks
Thanks angel too
TY, Angel...I got confused and stopped yesterday. I will go back this afternoon.

G'd morning Babblers!
hi Lori
hey
Lori oops
It's a beautiful day here. Great morning to avoid housework and lawn mowing.... ;-)
Thats the spirit Lori go lounge outside and read a book
morning loriP
Hey carlee. Day off?
send some our way lori..its...still cold..wet..grey... had windows closed yesterday..daughter begged me to turn on furnace...and pulled out the winter duvets to sleep last night
i go in this afternoon for a few hours
brrr Carlee
Yuck! *** Sending our sun west'ard to carlee. ***
and summer does not end for another month yet...so the calender says
the geese are flocking too...you hear them grouping....
*honkhonkhonk*
i am heading off. Tired and i woke up the boy at 430 am by poking him and then saying 'DONT DO IT' im anoying even in my sleep.
G'night herin.
Carlee even the geese are doing 'were flocking off'
later Herin
night herin
I dont want to go to bed as the kitty is snorgling me
yeap..they are flocking off.... WHERE is global warming....???
in england.
^- -^
its global raining here, not global warming!
its global whacked
but it was global warming last summer, and the so much rain could also be related
so is everyone excited for the new christiane amanpour documentary that starts tonight???? :) :) :)
hugely excited!
who's christiane amanpour?
Make your check payable to me at "fearmongering study group Southwest Nova." Please give generously...... :)
Fireworks
not excited... interested... I really hate the the way the american media portrays muslims as the evil doers of the world
ataLANTE!
<POMPOM TOSS> for angel
i would have thought at least YOU would know of her.
She drives me nuts, but the hub and i plan to watch, to see how CNN plays this from the various views.
thank goodness for carlee.
Congrats Angel!!!
why does she drive you nuts?
eh?... what did I do hurshy?
you've heard of christiane amanpour :)
Hursh, it's her voice. Can't stand it.
later gators :) don't beds croon with such dulcet tones?
oh, interesting. i love her voice.
LOL Sunny. Sleep tight.
more dulcet than C A 's, apparently...
ahhh...yes...usually I like her...but I really wish instead of focussing on all of the evil doers...and perpetuating this constant veil of fear...they would focus on the good...( did everyone hear the us just gave 20 billion in ams to israel....yet how m any kids are starving in USA..and have no medical..but we gotta keep those arms companies churning out killing machines )
LOL!
explain for the english person please!
she's, um, an english person - one of the most respected journalists in the world
never heard of her lol
***Lori bows out of political conversation, because of strong political views that will tick people off***
( she's iranian born...raised in england)
Biased, like all reporters, but travels to places angels fear to tread.
i don't think that it is focussing on evil doers, i watched her on larry king last night and it's more just trying to explore those who feel that religion should have political power - including the much larger segment who want to accomplish this through non-violent means.
I adore Christiane A.
I will watch...only to see if there is as much emphasis on the christian right alliance with the idea of a zionist state of israel... as there is on the muslim terrorists
oh, she's CNN? we dont get cnn here
An incredibly smart woman - she's just wonderful.
well it's 3 nights, carlee. one on christianity, one on muslims, one on judaism
so it seems like she really purposely gave them equal time in a very unequivocal fashion.
yes..i know that hushy... i mean..the "tone" the language used
i've heard of her husband!
the images....
hmm, i forget who her husband is
cnn i have found portrays an "equal time" theory..but the language is not equal... ( he was asssistant secretary of state under madelaine albright during clinton admin)
James Rubin, ex-State Dept under Clinton
james rubin
well, CNN in general, i totally agree, but i think that she really tries to be very objective
CNN News you can "trust"......
dont trust anyone but the bbc, and then only sometimes!
seems like if they have to SAY you can trust them, that's just another reason not to, lol
There is no news you can absolutely trust. in my opinion, of course.
LOL Hursh
and no news is good news
eg. a horrific 14 allied forces were killed today in conflicts involving the terrorists involved with the criminal forces under the tyrant saddam hussein. The bodies were strewn throughout the devastated landscape. meanwhile 85 iraqui citizens were casualties of the skirmishes in the streets ( or to this idea ..you get my drift)
so i guess you can absolutely trust good news
unless its wrong
they report both sides... but the language is... unbalanced
it was a jooooooke
using the transitive property in english is fun
Any journalism makes an attempt to oversimplify complex situations into bite-sized pieces. This causes people to perceive that the solutions to major problems should be similarly simple, which they just aren't. Whatever one's view of politicians, if the solutions were easy, at least someone would have found them.
nevermore!
quoth the hurshy
i read 3 news sites... cnn, bbc and algazeera... and u'd be surprised how "balanced" the english algazeera site is when reporting western news...
well if raevyn won't do it, i have to step into the breach
yes, al-jazeera is actually rather good
lol hursh
i really need to get around to memorizing that whole poem
Of course, the politicians don't help any with the perception that the "right" answers are simple...by running campaigns telling all and sundry that their opponents are stupid moral-less lying cheats...
omg sily just had her first ever hairball!
politicians suck! down with politicians!
and then they wonder why half the population doesn't bother to vote...well, you just spent a year and a zillion dollars convincing us that all the candiates were scumbags...
i think maybe i WILL vote for barack after all.
how excellently cogent your argument is, raevyn
I'm sticking with Obama. I do believe he is the man for our times.
i was concerned about his lack of experience, but then he responded to that with that bit about how cheney and them folks had tons of experience and fat lot of good that did us
I'm thrilled he is going to separate himself from the pack by not doing all these idiot debates.
heck on obama, i'm for gravel
*bows* ty...it just aggravates me, because I suppose I'm a bit of an idealist at heart...and government should mean something, a desire to make the world better, not just a desire to get fat donations and be on CNN.
( he 7 and 8 by chance?)
poor sily. no-one even remarked on her great milestone in life
were we supposed to... congratulate? sympathize? we didn't know
is congratulations really the right response to a first hairball? lol
LOL um not sure actually
but she's *2*! and never had a hairball before
Atalante, I have 4 cats. I can't remark on hairballs.
Atalante, I have 4 cats. I can't remark on hairballs.
my cats are 7 and they have never had hairballs.
how about a scritch behind the ears...that's a good universal cat response
i am officially fond of deenie and raevyn.
thats a good idea. when she settles down, she's currently trying to do loop the loops in the stairwell
3 cats...weekly hairballs in spring...
lol...ty...I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now...but not in a hairball kind of way.
am thinking of hanging my persian carpet instead of laying it on floor to avoid the stain of hairballs
lol, watching chat...from politics to hairballs!
enough hairballs and you'll have a new persian carpet!
hand in hand I think feather
really, they have much in common. cats and politicians spewing gunk
( so..does anyone have the he7 and 8 yet by chance???)
he7&8 you can get he* up about politics + does your cat get h***balls + vowel - then plural
( if I had persian cats... but alas...norwegians)
hmmm norwegian carpets aren't so well known
a hairball coming from the mouth of a cat is about as intelligent as a great many things that come from the mouth of many political figures lol
will the weird words never cease?????
more intelligent most of the time
you'd think norway would have more NEED for carpets than persia - cold floors...
afternoon, short visit whilst my boss has popped out, he does not like us playing games
we won't tell, ren ;)
speaking of work, i better get dressed and go to mine, ttfn

we had a very interesting programme on last night, carlee, about how jesus and mary are represented in the koran
there a whole sura ( chapter ) in the kuran on mary and jesus is a prophet in the kuran
oh yes. it was very interesting, 2 hours long, wonderfully detailed
muslims believe in jesus... they just don't...accept jesus as son of god... ( reasoning being..that if God is all powerful...all emcompassing etc... and so forth..why he need a mortal..a human...to bear his son..and WHY would he need a "son" to accomplish anything.. )
ty carlee for that ai7 ...it took me bit to figure out what you were la** for LOL
so to muslims..jesus.. ( esa ) is a prophet... just as revered and worshiped as any other prophet...
Guten Morgen, Babblers. I am on my last word, and of course I am stuck. Any kind souls out there with a clue? I need sa 6/21

bye jean
We are not allowed to have pets where we live at the moment, so I have to enjoy them vicariously by cat sitting / dog sitting for friends, seeing Babbler's photos, and enjoying the web cams :)
Although we do have a variety of wildlife in our backyard, including a white rat (escaped pet of someone), raccoons, deer, noisy birds, an owl, and the neighbor's cats... oh, and wild turkeys.
you must live in the country it sounds very nice but too bad your not allowed your own pets
Our apartment building is only 2 miles from the center of town, but we're in rural Massachuetts so wildlife abounds. Fortunately, fellow Babblers like you have lots of pets to 'share' through photos and chat.

ok so how did they get poor and back to the neighborhood?
the character of rocky was based on people sylvester stallone knew growing up....the story of rocky was loosely based on the story of chuck wepner....a no-name boxer who got the opportunity to face muhammed ali for the heavyweight championship and lost but managed to knock ali down

Hi Ren8
I have just 13 of the 26 H words
I only have 7 Scrabbs
Hello all. Just popping in to clue for a few minutes.
Hello Jellen
How are you, ren?
Hello Jellen! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Yes, Jellen, could you clue my missing 11 H words? LOL. Ok, seriously, I need another Y--I have ye + double consonant
Fine thanks Jellen, getting in the holiday mood as we are going away Friday night, are you ok?
What holiday is coming up in the UK?
Doing pretty well. Actually got some errands done this afternoon.
Or do you mean what we call "vacation"?
We are off to my mother-in-laws as you say Vacation for a week in the Isle of Wight
Sounds great--any island sounds great.
Is there anyone from Babbleland that is being affected by the Hurricane do we know
Good question. I don't know anyone in Jamaica or Mexico.
This Island is a tiny one about a 10 minute ferry ride from the mainland, so weather can still be pretty awful, nothing but rain for the past 2 weeks
hi all... can't stay too long. gotta actually go to bed at a reasonable time tonight, as work starts in the morning
hello t&t, how you doing?
Well, I hope the weather behaves for you, ren8.
Hi, TnT
Hi Toadette. Yep, you must get enough sleep.
Hi toadandtoadette! How are ya?Welcome to the grid
thanks Scrabbler, so do I, apparently the weather is suppose to be perking up this weekend
I'm well all. I think DH called tonight while I was at a friends. jerk didn't leave a message or call the cell. oh well..
Our last 4 days have been autumn-like--I am wearing a fleece pullover even.
Who is DH? (darling husband?)
We currently have our heating on as I said the sun has not poked its head out for 2 weeks, it is suppose to be summer
Dear Husband... sorry
Does anyone have a clue for the sm 7/44 word please
forget we don't use the same acrynoms everywhere. that is what most call their husbands on the military wives chat boards
That's funny, T.
Sieh da, Freundin Scrabbler ist da! Guten Tag also Toad, Minver, ren etc etc.
hi inge
sm + 1st vowel + scrap cloth + consonant
Hi Inge
Hello inge! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
I finally took a photo of my windowbox gallery. Where is Jacula to see it?
Guten Tag, Freundin, Inge. Ich bin kalt--sechsundsechzig degrees.
Celsius or Fahrenheit?
can anyone help with my last one please, ar5,12?
Whoa, what a word that sm7 is!
Fahrenheit, Inge.
sokay, got it.
Please tell us, frogface.
ar: ar + cover for your upper extremity
ar and head gear.
Hi frogface! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
ar + head wear
Hello frogface
That is real cold, Scrabbler, did someone not close the fridge?
thanks minveryork, just finished actually, been quietly beaving away. hi all.
The sm7 is from Middle English with Latin and Greek roots, meaning emerald.
Congrats frogface!
*pops head round the door* Hi all, Inge - Jacula may be missing out but we are all enjoying your lovely window boxes.
That word is more frequently used in Germany, I remember a book called sm7 land
Inge, we have had 4 autumn-like days in a row now. Brrrrr.
Congratulations frogface on fireworks! Hooray for U
They are beautiful, inge!
thank you.
hello FMitch, you enjoying the lovely british summer
Well, we had three dasy of incessant rain. Now it is getting dryer and warmer again
Hello FMitch! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Inge, my old hamster, Oliver, has a tumor growing on his back. He is 2 1/2 yrs old.
Oh ren :( Boots, jeans, jumper and quilted jacket to go out earlier. Oh well.
well, I have seven boxes in a row and the hummingbirds love them. I am pleased by the color conrast of pink and purple
They are beautiful, Inge, and I love hearing and watching the hummers.
Oh humming birds too?!?!!!
how long do hamsters usuallylive? I am sorry to hear of Oliver's tmourous grwotn
Fingers crossed FMitch it is suppose to be warmer this weekend, well that would make a change for a Bank Holiday weekend
The other day I was sitting outside and a hummer came by---I heard it and was startled.
I'm suspending belief Ren and keeping everything crossed for an Indian summer. Thanks for the greeting Minver
They are not very healthy creatures--tumors usually do them in, as they are so inbred. Mine have lived from months to less than 2 yrs, so he is really old. But he still is active.
*tumorous growth
lets hope that is true and it turns out to be a vindaloo
Translate vindaloo please.
what is a vindaloo?
LOL where about are you going on the Isle of Wight? Vindaloo = very hot Indian curry
Indian food, Vindaloo, is a very hot curry
oops, Inge and scrab are equally ignorant
That word reminds me of the Lucille Ball show, with Ricky saying BABALOOOO
We are going to Brading which is near Sandown
Help with the I words, please?
Ren hope you enjoy it as its scooter invasion weekend on the isle of wight this weekend!!
LOL Scrabbler. Vindaloo is like eating fire in my opinion
I saw a show last night showing the funniest segments of Am. TV shows. I was in stitches
We go every year at the same time and my mother-in-law lives on the main road from Ryde to Sandown, it is very noisy at all times of day
le 4 adn 5: beg. of German word for teacher
That had to be hilarious, Inge. I watched MASH a few days ago and forgot how funny and well-written that show was.
ih + male sheep
TY, Inge, as I needed that too, but I wanted i words.
lo 5: German girls name, like Lo*** Lenya, the lo 6 is its past tense

ih + Male sheep
yw, Scrabbler
that is a word, really
TY for the LO words, Inge
Ren8, everyday I am humbled by the new words I encounter here.
carlee explained tht the ih words ae what Muslims wear on their pilgrimage
I really struggle to believe these words do actually exist
I suspend all expetations at the door to babble and suspend logic and disbelief when tackling a grid.... or I just dive in with my eyes shut tight :)
hello everyone...here on a vain attempt to finish !
evening Karys
Hi, Karys
I always imagine a group of drunk, angry Enable editors as ying, "Let's include this one. No one will believe it is a word, and we can make up a definition."

da 5/12--- like copy but change the first vowel. ( old-fashiioned copy machine they used to use in schools)

How about ah6 please?
The babble time warp has worked again, I only popped in to say Hi and that was 20 mins ago. Happy Babbling all.

bye
bye Dorens
thanks carlee
is 8th letter of arabic alphabet
oh oh, rough day on Sunday scrabbler?
Bye, Doren, TY
what is carlee
I had lots of calls, and most were not "necessary". Many parents do not think whether they NEED to call, they just want a quick answer.
the dh word
oh... I'm still hunting for that blasted el word
I fully realize that parenting is full of anxiety.
I see...I feel like we've done that a bit in the past few weeks though :) (we have an advice nurse you can call though...so it is nice...I don't feel quite as silly calling her w/ dumb stuff). It does make it hard if people don't try their best to solve something first though
el+ sometimes vowel + u ***ck footprints in the show when u hunt for game
snow* sorry
thank you finally
I suggest that parents have at least 2 childcare books to refer to, and we try to teach parents about what is urgent/emergent vs can wait until the office is open.
You would not believe some of our calls, though.
I would scrabs... when ur a parent...u go crazy
that sounds reasonable scrabbler...we've just had so many issues it seems that it feels like we're calling all the time...all of ours end up warranting a visit though so we must be doing the right thing...probably different when they're just a few weeks too
6:30-7:30 AM---Should I send Boscoe to school today?
dh+ let us **l sing **together now
qu5.16? not the measurement
to make one thing the exact same as the other is to e***** them
With young infants and new parents, we expect many questions and concerns.
thank you got it
It is darn frightening to be a parent, esp with a new baby!
Gosh, I gotta come back here more often, and not so late. I won't finish tonight, cuz I just dipped my toe in tonight...but do remind me to come back?! Bitte?
Bitte, bitte, matty, return to Babble Land more often!
yep...he just had a such a hard time gaining any weight for so long...sure seems like a forgone issue now but just a week or so back...quite the big deal for all!
so long matty...do return! :)
ok..gotta go prepare dinner all...enjoy the remainder of the evening...
Some breastfeeding babies are pokey at gaining wt those first few wks.
Bye Carlee
bye carlee...thanks so much for the help!
yep...that is what it seemed to have all boiled down to scrabbler...sure seems like a lot of fuss now :)
But when you cannot quantify his intake and they are so dopey the first 2-3 wks, you wonder if they are getting enough.
hi kristin! holding a hiccupy nick here
Here is our other new Mama!!
sa6.21?
unless you end up doing the syringe/scale thing like we did and loose you mind (w/ how much time and energy it took) for the first 2 weeks
I need it too, T
hello feather...those hiccups...they are brutal! :)
Has Zach figured out the latch/suck processes now?
okay I've only got 19 left, but I really need to go to bed adn I am actually tired. so talk to you all tomorrow sometime
thanks for the thoughts though scrabbler...I promise, I'll never call you when you're on call w/ dumb q's. :)
Bye, T, sleep well!
bye T&T
yes, he has...mom now has an infection that is making things a little rough but I think that shall improve and then we might finally have a "normal" week...he has been on his own w/out a supplement for about 1 1/2 weeks
I know you wouldn't, Kristin. :)
bye tandt
he hates the hiccups poor guy! and now just messed his diaper too, so brb
bye T...have a great night
how is nick doing feather?
First de5 anyone?
de+what we breathe scrabbs
I've got it now--I remembered this ridiculous word.
what...you don't de5 things from time to time? :)
I do deflate objects, LOL
FYI, the gh6 is NOT gheetle.
I was hoping it was a strange type of beetle.
kristinc, adorable pics on your blog page!!
Now I've got it.
lo5 & 6 please
thanks une...my husband has had fun w/ that page...needs some updated pictures though...we have a big boy on our hands now (or so we think)
Is the second half of ha8 also a word on its own?
everyone looks soooo happy! :-)
no ha8 for me yet
Charlo***'s Web--classic book by EB White
nick's doing great
I mean he8
they're both hee8's
heather...when/if do you go back to work?
the first he8 is a compound word
don't know if we're in a babymoon period or not, but he doesn't fuss very much ever. only during diaper changes or if he has hiccups, or if daddy has him and he's hungry and can't find a useful boob on daddy, lol
thanks Scrabbler
aha...I am missing the compound word he8 then
9-23 i think
I got the 2nd he8 from a clue. The first he8--is the second half a stand-alone word?
noggin + door to the garden
yep...it is hard to get milk out of the neck of dad (the usual trying spot here)
yes, scrab
TY, Une---another new word for me.
that is good that he is a great little guy...things seemed to pick up a bit in the fussing department in the past week here but overall still, not too many complaints
me too, scrab!!
thanks une
Alright, 34 to go and I need to do some chores. BBL
daniel once tried to latch onto doug's nose
bye scrabbler...hope they go quickly :)
thanks Scrabbler and see you soon
daniel and doug are roughhousing now, lol
gotta go for a bit too, bye all and bye scrabbler
my biggest thing...and I'm sure this will improve as I gain experience is knowing when he is fussing b/c he is hungry or if it is something else...we're learning though
bye feather
bye Feather
congrats feather!

yo
I'm missing that one too ei...thought I am trying combos right now

ollag, are you playing?
good for you Min!
stid, have you done any baking lately?
not yet peri, but the boys and I are going to make a treacle tart later today.
never had a treacle tart, what is in it?
We have been reading Harry Potter of course, and stidkid#2 remembered that was something they ate
treacle
what about you? any new and cool recipes to share?
ha, ha hurshy
um, in a pie crust, it's actually like the matrix you use for a pecan pie.
you get it from a treacle well
please do not refer to anything in the Harry Potter book as I have not finished it yet, thanks
nope, not done any baking in a while, have a recipe for poached chicken that looks good though
that's right hurshy... and something about a bottle and drowning in rabbit tears... LOL
ren8, this is from a much earlier book, re-reading the whole series for about the third time.
Hi Peri, did not see you sneak in
I have a chicken w/sauce recipe which is really good
It's one of thevery few things that I am able to make
poached chicken? *thinking about it* like boiled in water?
no probs Stid, have managed to go this long without someone telling me what happens, thats all
hi ren8
haet
sorry
cooked in water seasoned with fresh ginger, scallions and soy sauce, stid
ren8,at least give away words that I do not have yet
seems to me it'd still be better baked
*drool* sounds luscious peri!
I got the recipe from the latest edition of Real Simple magazine
i love ginger.
I may try to make some gingerbread
but then, i'm quite partial to baked fowls
do you want the recipe stid.
poached chicken is lovely

I love sauerkraut, never had marmite though
ewwwwwww
hursh - sauerkraut is great
No!I stay away from sauerkrout. It's not to my liking.
mmmm sauerkraut.... mmmmmm LOL but not on hotdogs. It's yucky on hot dogs.
marmite is sort of like a veggie consomme
i'm sure my fellow HP fans were startled that gr4/7 couldn't be pluralled
stid - 2 things I learnt from my pharmacist about epipens - keep an eye on the expiry date, because they don't last forever, and don't play with them / try and practice because you'll trigger the injection mechanism!
I have never heard of marmite. Is it like sauerkrout?
where can I buy marmite in the USA
at the store "Disgusting Foods of the British Isles"
yes, I wrote the expiration dates on mine with a big thick marker!
you know, same place you get your haggis
I get marmite from the "World Market" store locally
what is haggis, it sounds disgusting
:-P hurshy, you're in a mood today! Do you need chocolate?
haggis is sheep innards
I mean cow innards. or something
what, i can't make jokeys?
I knew it was ewwww, thanks Ata
wrapped in a cow stomach
oh -- jokeys? sorry, I thought maybe you were serious!
Hey stid, your dog reminds me of the dog that I grew up with. He was a German Shepard. His name was Bob
well, i'm serious but you can only be so serious about a non-serious subject, you know
"bob" is a good name for a dog. Ours is Lucky because if I hadn't taken him home he was going to go to the pound...
FIREWORKS for me. 11.00pm and bedtime, thanks for all the help this evening
yay for ren8
I am glad that you saved him stidmama. I'm not a dog person, but I am always glad when one can be saved!

:-D I got ALL the D words on my own!
going to play weboggle for a while, I either play as periwinkle or Team Babble
later peri -- I ought to go and check the laundry and get the crust started for the treacle treat...
treacle! MMMMMMMM
and where does it come from, ata?
well, technically we are using "golden syrup" but same idea really. :-) see you-all later! (it comes from sugar cane)
sugar cane!
no no no
golden syrup rocks
a TREACLE well
does the world float round on great big lakes of treacle?
you think too much...
coudl explain the inconsistencies in plate tectonic theory ...

Hello, Scrabbler
tx min
Hello Scrabbler!Welcome back to the grid! Good luck!
yw
thanks Min and Knight
I can do this, I know I can. **thinking positive thoughts**
te5 is a fish
te 7 is the past tense of the te 4 --- the pastry
te 6
I know you can do it also. Go for it Scrabbler
te6 is a group of 4 (add a consonant to the fish)
the little engine that could
I had a te 6, but it is now a te7 ;)
there is no te7
oh yeah...I'm adding letters :)
te5 and t26
Of course I will do this, because I have the Scrabble Dictionary next to me and my friends are available for clues!
er te6
te5 is a fish
te6 is a group of four
got the 5 ty working on the 6
ly5 please?

Pammy--please tell me that your HA is gone or better?
Hi Pam
who, pray tell, is pammy? LOL
Why can't sarate be a word ?
Hi, Mom
It is, scrab. And, I took nothing last night, just grinned and beared it... and whined...
You, are--our Pammy Poo friend, LOL
Says who?
8-)
Sorry, Pam, my partner (Richard Head) has a daughter named Pamela and they call her Pammy.
what would be the definition kris?
I feel for Pam Head!
Well, Nut would call you Pammy Poo
um i dunno mool lol
Nut has stopped as I pitched one, LOLOLOL
I feel sorry for his wife and 4 kids--they never see him because he is a workaholic.
I know, I am sounding so, well, persnickety
ok so since sarate isn't a word , can I please have a clue for the Sa 6 ?
That is a shame, scrab. Really.
That is a shame, scrab. Really.
Hey, it is our time-release DNA--we get persnickety, crotchety and curmudgeonly as we age.
sarate to rate something on the "sara" scale
Should I look up Migrarelief for the B and Magnesium dosings? I take a superB and B12 as I don't eat meat... and 200-400 mgs of magnesium daily...
sa6 first part rhymes with last part
LOL, scrab, it's true!
very good mool lol
You are making a strong case for the word, moo
tyKnight
phantome--tolerate
sa6 add a vowel and consonant to the sa4 before it
sa6 could be a device to detect "saras"
I have the last two h words to go
You can, Pam. I take superB and 2 mag tabs daily. Let me check the mag dose--it is 400 mg/tab.
the sa6 is not happening for me, LOL
both the first and second syllables sound the same pam
haha, moo, you saved the worst for last. I got the he7 from an earlier clue and I don't know what the word means.
add the middle letters of sa4 to the end
Good clue, KT, TY
Cool, thanks scrab. I just started the SuperB over the weekend, now I will take it with the b12.... and, I will double the magnesium--the CVS buy one get one free days are my great vitamin days, LOL...
sa= sardines +radar
lol
thanks!!!!
okay...I'm not going to get these last two he words...anyone with clues?
The MigreLief was, I think, $19 for a month's supply, whereas the individual ingredients can be purchased for far less.
he7 = idiomatic hot + what we breath + vowel
and plural
he + cross + what we put into tires + first vowel
Oh, yeah, they certainly can! Thanks, scrab! I only recently added more magnesium--it is in my calcium supplement--because I read about the rations...
Any ih help ?? PLEASE @!
Are you calling me an idiot, Knight? I resemble that comment.
I just needed an i
tx scrab

Bye Mom!
I hope you don't think I am a martyr or anything. I lived with chronic head pain for YEARS. A new doc had the CT done and put me on high dose decongestants. Then I switched doc. He thought I didn't need to be in pain.
It is recommended by all of those major HA treatment centers
He took me off the deconsal, prescribed flonase, and gave me new analgesic directions. And, told me to take 12 hour sudafed when I got one of my sinus issues...
Pam, I have been a migraineur since med school, and read a LOT about migraine pathophysiology and management.
Since following his guidelines, I have far fewer sinus infections, and the pain is better. Oh, and I irrigate my sinuses. But, I still don't like the pressure and pain, or taking daily meds....
I bet you do read a lot about them, scrab.
2 left The last 2 De's !!!
ad 5/16
I got so used to functioning in pain that getting the new guidelines was amazing! If i use the flonase regularly, it really seems to help. Which is why I am convinced the cyst and my sinuses are exacenbators...

We gave our trust and followed him, he spoke to someone and we went for another drink
less than 1/ hour later we got picked up by his parents, both of whom i knew 20 years ago, and they took us all the way home and I chatted and caught up with them
the end
thanks artlady, I was following yoink's story. Thanks for sharing Yoink
I was checking e-mail. My last word was the first pa5, and my monkey found it! Good monkey!
no worries i'm sure it was more interesting this end. It was an hour or so drive by the way
he 7/8 ?
Great story, Yoink, both for a nice ride and to see an old friend.
Hello carra! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
he 7: he + cons + what we breathe + first vowel
The he 8/60 word is he4/6 plus the ga4/6 word carra
he7 he t air a for 8+s
Hello Minve, doing great yourself?
ty for the clue!
thanks for humouring me. I'm aware these things always seem much more interesting and amazing to the present and the drunk. I was on the way back from a gig so that added to my adrenalin and such
yw

Hi Jacula! How are you? Somebody was asking for you
Jinx, Minveryork!
Hello jacula!
jacula finally. Please note my icon window boxes
Hello Jacula
Hi, Minver. Who was asking for me and why? 'Twasn't me! I never dun it!' LOL
jac--Inge has been eagerly waiting for you to view her window boxes!
It was me, wanting you to see my icon
Jacula, inge was asking for you to view icon window.
What are those purple things, Inge?
Wow, they are some beautiful flowers, inge
Hi, inge. Lovely windowboxes! Was it you who commented on my spring one with the mini narcissi & periwinkles?
Scrabbs/Minver - just as well I dropped in then. Nearly didn't as everyone seemed to be talking about migraines and so I went off to play weboggle. Someone else (maybe Ata?) wa teamed up with me but we didn't make first place tonight.
yes, Jacula, and I finally pulled even. The purple are a kind of wandering Jew plant
Scrabbs - might be purple tradescantia?
I was right!
'Wandering Jew' is Tradescantia.
I played weboggle the other day and bet teambabble.
I did not do so well today though.Only got 50+ points
Tradescantia Pallida to be exact for the purple form.
Minver - you beat us? You little devil, you! *grins*
**memorizing Tradescantia pallida name as it is far more impressive than Wandering Jew
the second ar 5/10
Ah, but inge, you haven't seen my summer windowbox! LOL. You won't either until we get the new printer set up.
ar + Do ***l me a secret, GBL!
*looks at grid wistfully*
It was the 1st time that I had seen teambabble on at the same time as I. I play that game almost everyday
OK I am waiting till you get new printer set up, hopefully before teh first frost!
Minver - I play most nights between 12.30 (midnight) and 1am UK time.
Oh, man, Featherbee. I finished and a review of the wordlist is shocking--so many odd words!
morning everyone :)
Inge - pics are on camera, just not on pc.
MRP---how are you?????????
Poor feather! Motherhood is weary work.
ok that helps scrabs!
Hi, MrP.
feather, when did you arrive? And Mr. PLres as well, wow!, The bus must have just stopped outside
Hello mrpresident! How are you? Welcome to the grid
okay, so lets see if i get this right... i'm looking for help on a word, its he4,6 - between two he5,12's... i think...
*Now imagines what the Babblebus looks like.*
just sat down to nurse and watch chat
oh good, then neither rain, or snow can affect the appearance
Hi Mr President!
((( scrabbler ))) (((jac))) (((inge))) et al (((hugs)))... how you all? I am feeling good today! they are finally removing my fallen tree.... yipeeeeeee
I play at different times everyday Jacula. It depends on the course of the day. I also do not play very long
I think it must be yellow, with green intersecting lines to make a grid shape and with black letters in each square.
that he 4: is a friendly greeting missing a letter
and I am getting 60 meters of hard steel... what every woman wants ;)
the windows have the letters
Minver - I wonder if the player 'bj' in there is our BJ (BrandyJack)?
MrP! *shocked look*
did you get that Anika?
you?? shocked??? I thinketh not!
yesh, thank you... was that the correct way to ask?
oops, I meant Enika
Sixty meters??
they are using the enormous massive humungus crane to do the job... can't wait!
yes, usually we just say he 4/5 , the first, third or last
Doth I protest too much, MrP?;)
I assume this does not involve your humerus?
yes scrabs... that is alot of 'man power'
MrP - film it and put it on lickeytv.
good idea, Jacula
I am going to film it for sure! It will be my next video diary for ya all
okay, thank you!
Enika, keep asking for clues, we pause in the chatter to clue
MrP - is it warm there? Will the 'man power' be shirtless?
*mops brow* Hot flush. It's my age, you know.
oh I can ask them jac! they are rather cute and dirty minded too.... those tree boys are another species
now I am shocked, Jacula
Alas, I must leave Babble Land. Good to see you, MRP---keep on healing. Bye everyone.
Enika - rest assured that we DO look out for folks wanted clues in the midst of all our chatter.
Inge - I doubt it!
see ya scrabbler :) thanks
'Bye for now, Scrabbs and Callie. x
bye, Scrabbler, Gute Nacht
Goodbye Scrabbler! I will see you tomorrow in the log
hello kids -- 2 left; 1st ar5/10 and the ly. and special hello mrpres! good to "hear" you sounding a little "frisky" re the tree men!
inge - Have I got my German right re the interpretation of the German tarot card names in my bio?
Hi, mom23.
okay, will ask when down to last one per letter and just can't find it... i'm working between this and making dinner
hey, jac.
MrP you are an idol to those of us that have had operations and felt the pain all the way and let everyone know about it. You have been so dignified and positive about it.
Mom - ar5/10 = a tapestry or tapestry weave. (Double consonant in the middle.)
Bye Scrabbs!
oh the tree men are naughty! I heard them out the back yard this morn (this is all pre drugs when I woke up) and I went out there in nothing more than my sling... it kind of set the mood for them
Jacula, I have seen bj in boggle too.Never thought it might be brandyjack.I will have to ask her next time I see her in babbleland. What others play weboggle?
Hello mom23!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
oh yoink! my dignity got flushed this morning but my positivity stands firm
ly5/14 is a tongue cartilage. Sounds like carelessly dropped rubbish and has a double consonant in the middle.
Minver - BrandyJack's a fella not a girl.
tks, jac -- just the ly to go. and hi min--i've been lurking on and off all day, pulling clues from the chat and a lot of monkeying around (don't tell hubby, please!).
* went out there IN nothing more than my sling
MrP!!!
You hussy!
well ?? it was early... and ... you know it is?
out to see tree men bare limbed? oh, mrP!
mom - my other half has occasionally been known to sign in on Babble from work and tell me to stop mucking about and get the kettle/dinner on! LOL
!!! MRP!!! uhm did the tree men actually get the tree removed?
Well after my operation my dignity was never evident (surgery on the groin tends to remove that) , but positivity was lacking next to yours
ly 5/14 is ly+double consonant plus first vowel mom23
Yoink - OW! You okay now?
btw, hi everyone. saw mrps post and just had to respond!
Many hospital stays do away with dignity - childbirth being one of those stays.
Hi, lbd.
Hi lbdawger! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hi Dawg! Jacula, yeah, complete repair and all is peachy!
oh ouch yoink! you poor bugger... I hope you are better
Hernia, was it, Yoink?
hi dawg! ((hugs))
Yoink - were you in the hospital where you are training?
Ok I haven't played this in forever and I know there's a website that shows you all the words you need for the day and you can check them off... but I don't remember the address.
yeah that's why i booked asap from the hospital! got better rest at home, and softer plaes to sit too
back from watching the video, so YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!!! thanks, kids--couldnta' dunnit widoutcha! loved the video!
fille - I know the address but I won't be telling it to you because that would ruin the whole point of playing the game for you.
Hello fillechaude! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
wtg mom!!!
How's baby, feather?
No I don't want a list of the words, just the hints.
i think fille means lickety!
asleep on my lap, 1 handed typing aGAIN
congrats, mom!
fille, it is in friends of babble at the bottom of the page... one of them is lickety's clues
whoooo hooooo MOM23!
Congratulations mom23 on fireworks!Hooray for you!
Thanks!
oops sorry for caps
feather - if it's lickey's list or BJ's list then that's fine. There is a 'cheat site' though and you can imagine what I think of that!
Jacula, yes, hernia. And no I wasn't ttraining when it was going on, but I was just being conversational, let's not make my ex-problem the topic of conversation when we're talking about mr president
Sorry, fille. I misunderstood you.
yep i know jac! bleah
We've had a LOT of medical chats the past couple of weeks in here. I'm learning so much!
HI everyone!
Evenin' peri!
Hello periwinkle! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
hi peri :)
Hi Peri
going to try to upload pics now that he's asleep
Yoink - Sorry. I only meant that if you were in the hospital where you are doing your nursing training that you probably got some stick from your colleagues. Hospital humour is often gr4/7; has to be really.
Hi, art. Just spotted you there.
tks for all your congrat! deep curtsy. am going to watch Boston whoop up on Tampa Bay again tonight (she said hopefully ;) cheers all. 'til the morrow ...
night Mom23
I'm finished! Thank you all for the clues earlier today!
Hello, peri.
Well done, Minver.
hi everyone
I am done too, just stopped in to say hi
'Night, mom.
hi Andree
Goodbye mom23! I will see you tomorrow in the chat!
Well done also, peri.
trying to finish from the office as usual
Hello Andree! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
We won't tell, Andree!
are you done as well Jacula?
Hi, Andree.
Congratulations perwinkle on fireworks!Good for you
Peri - Yes - hours ago (UK lunchtime).
no one to tell artlady, i am all on my lonesome
Jac, Luckily I should never have to experience that as a paediatric nurse. I never plan to devolve...
Hi andree
1st pa5/14 please
Yoink - how far into your training are you?
I actually, just finished the grid. I asked for clues in the afternoon though. My last word was the ag 5/14.
whooo hoooo MIN!
Andree - bald-headed. Not you - it's a clue for pa5.
*******Min******
Hi, again!
hi Pam
hi, lbd
Minver - my last word was really silly of me to not find before... past tense of he4 (to get better). *sigh*
A pa5/14 word is brake ***s plus Rhode Island Andree.
to 5/16 please
Hi pam!!
Hi Pam, Jac, nearly 6 months
going to read for a while, see you all tomorrow
Oops! First pa5 is what Min just clued. Different spelling for a military priest.
to 5/16:past tense of what kids play with Buttonman
'Bye, peri. Emjoy your book.
Hello Buttonman! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
*Enjoy, I meant.
Hi Peri, Jacula, Peri, Min, and al...
Goodbye periwinkle!I will see you tomorrow in the log
Am I the only one that finds clues in the log as you are getting to them?
hi, button....
Min, you're quick!
thx jac and min
Thanks Min...and thanks, got the to 5/16
Hi, Button.
yoink, peri!
Min, I am find...just finished the grid...
yw
>>>>>>>>>>>>>FIREWORKS<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Well done, button.
whooo hooooo BUTTON
I was using clues in the log earlier before I finished it
Congratulations Buttonman on fireworks!Good for U!
Congrats, button!
lol, yeah, Pam but before asking for it...
Yoink - who was the clues question directed at? BTW, re training - how long to go? Another 2 and a half years or more?
yay button
LOL, yoink!
ol6/18 please
yay, button
Aloha Babblers!
I am babbling while I sit watching "Broadcast News".
fun, min! i was watching Army Wives...
Aloha, Fran
The ol 6/18 word is ol 4/4 plus **a or coffee Andree.
hi artlady!
hi, fran!
Jac, I am talking about getting to the words on a list and then seeing the clues just as you are going to start looking for them. And as far as training goes yes, another 2 1/2 years! but it has been a good 6 months so far
hi pam!
Hi FranMag! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi min!
Frannie!
yo dawg!
thx min, hi fran
Wasn't the tarot cards icon theme not that long ago?
hi andree!
yw
Yoink - glad you are enjoying it. Sorry. Got a major lag on the chat here - about 2 mins before posts arrive on screen.
ah6/24 please
i don't remember one min, it must have been when i was AWOL.
ah 6/24 is a + not her but *** + South America Andree
ah6 = a + 'not her' + abbreviation for the opposite of North Africa.
Doesn't seem a lag from here, and thanks. It feels good to find a direction after 28 years
thanks jac! hello! ty min also
yw
ah6 is the Hindu principle of not harming living things.
hi yoink! i'm not getting a big lag either, just the normal one.
thx jac
good word jac.
No lags here. Maybe the site is having problems again
Oh good! It's speeded up again now. It might be my son hogging bandwidth with a huge game upstairs.
Hi Fran! been a while, though it's that way with most on here
i'm not always on at this time yoink. good to see you!
thanks for the ah, jac!
Fran - speaking of long words, here's one I e-mailed to Nut earlier: Hipomonsteresquipedalophobia
of course, i had to goodsearch by your clue...
I'm on at very random times, though mostly aslways when i'm drunk ;)
In using that word, I have become a Hyperpolysyllabicsequipedalianist.
lol, sounds good to me yoink!
good evening babblers, any clue please for AD5/16
jac, what is that the fear of? the first word.
oy, jac....
ad + sometimes vowel + goodbye in england
back!
hi ollag! hmm, i have no ad words
ad 5.14 ?
thanks carra!
All will be revealed if Nut uses the material in the next Babblecast.
Fran - fear of long words is the first one and one who uses long words is the second.
aha! i was going to look it up. :-)
got it from archives just a second ago from Uneaixoise :)
carra, you have to ad*** to change
Can't wait to hear Nut trying to say those words! LOL
thanks carra
ty fran
hee hee, you're insidious jac. :-)
yvw
second ag5.14?
Fran - my real full first name means 'supplanter' which, apparently, means 'troublemaker'. I was rather upset when I discovered that in my teens but I might have fun with it now I'm 50. *evil grin*
i only have one of those, a plural
The longest word in any of the major English language dictionaries is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoc oniosis, a 45-letter word which refers to a lung disease contracted from the inhalation of very fine silicious particles. that is bloody crazy
LOL, jac
2nd ag5/14 is a black stone.
ag + past tense of eat
Hi, MRP!!!!!!!!!!
hey mrp!
ty
Mr P, I had that last week, but I shrugged it off
hi pam and fran :)
Mr.P - stop spoiling the next Babblecast. The miner's disease word was my ex-hubby's party piece for saying. The Welsh station name is mine.
hi
oh hello, i was starting from the wrong A, i should have just tried that one.
Heh, Jac, my my mum use to be able to say that name
lol yoink!
brb
oh poo! i didn't mean to be a spoiler
Lol, MrP. Anyway, the longest word is really be the systematic name for deoxyribonucleic acid of the human mitochondria, which is approximately 207,000 letters long.
Who the hell thought that one up??
Yoink - used to be able to? Is she not with us now? If not... ((HUGS))
Fraid not, as of last March.
Oh, Yoink. I am so sorry. I know how much that hurts. Still miss my Dad but do still have my very chatty and sometimes embarrassing Mum, whom I love to bits.
Thanks Jac, but I'm not here to get sympathy for that, I got plenty of that from the lovely babble people last year when I resurfaced
My kids, are starting to see me that way, too, now they're in their 20s. Such is life!
We are all still feeling it but there is a new life about to spring out from my sister so it all goes on and happiness will come back
Yoink - Okay. I can see you are sensitive and so I will stop being intrusive. I did think I was just interacting but never mind. I'm always getting told off for not being 'nosey enough' about people, or 'caring' in the asking kind of way.
try as i might i cannot get 1st ar5/12 please
oh, i'm so sorry if it seemed that way
Yoink - good. Life's a circle and all that. On the day my first child was born there was also a death and a marriage in the family. Death came first, then birth, then marriage.
andree, ar + headwear
I am a pirate - the cat ate my bird though
andree - ar5 is a babblet. ar - headwear.
I love talking about my mum , she was and is the biggest influence in my life and to stop talking about her would be an insult to her memory
that's great yoink.
thx fran and jac
i suppose i should get the list out, nothing is jumping out at me.
Hi herinfernallady! How are you? Welcome to the grid
Yoink - I agree. I feel exactly the same way about my Dad and I do wish people wouldn't pussyfoot around after someone dies 'in case someone cries'. So what if they cry? Tears heal and talking about the loved one, as you said, keeps the memories alive.
How many words do you have so far listless FranMag?
Fran - how many left to find?
The trouble with 'we British folks', Yoink, is that many of us feel awkward when someone cries.
this is NOT a jumping out grid fran
ar 5.12?
i have 70 left
ar 5/12 is ar plus what you wear on your head carra.
carra, ar + headwear
thought i had that one ty!
Very well said, Jac. One of the worst thing to be said top a grieving person is: "how are you doing?" it's like, how the ~~~~ do you think i'm doing? Also people always want to be close, I found personally that I needed space, lots of it
at least i'm not alone then andree! :-)
shhh im lurking. Yoink I havent seen you about before so Hi
I've never understood the phrase (uttered by those comforting someone who's crying), 'Hush! Stop crying. It'll be okay.'
Jacula-- Is that the famous stiff upper lip?
tmcs - Yes.
Hi, lady, sen you about but I'm mostly a lurker
Yoink - I felt the same myself.
phantom: delay
70, Fran? You'd better get asking then!
can someone tell me what the 8s start with?
Never mind the phantoms! LOL
Here's the weird thing about the strange closeness that this log gives
Go on, Yoink...
fran, they both start with h's
whoops, 2 do.
i want to ignore the phantoms, but once i see one, it sticks!
Fran, sm8 is the plural of the sm7...good luck in finding either
Yoink I have always found if someone has lost someone they loved (person or animal) 'I am here if you need it, I have a good pair of ears to listen, I may not be able to understand what you are going through but i care. If I say something i shouldnt then opps.;
thanks artlady!
I'll say that my mum's death, though the hardest thign that ever happened to me, brought me out of a 10 year long depression and got me on the road to sanity
and the 3rd with sm
qu 4/9 plus mire was a phantom word for me today.
thanks dawg!
he8/60,he8/45, sm8/60.
and andree
el6/24 please
((((((((chat room hug)))))))
This is a great group!
i really am being a pest this morning, trying to finish so i can get on with work, lol
el+ sometmes vowel + first part of choo choo
el 6/24 is el plus sometimes vowel plus *** la la Andree.
thanks dawg!
Yoink - I fully understand that, though my Dad's death sent me on another downward spiral that I think I have just emerged into the sunlight from.
yeah, Andree, stop trying to get words while we are doing therapy! ;)
thx dawg and min, some of todays words i would never get without help
yw
Jac, I totally understand that, I faced it and without terrific family support I may have gone that way too
it's a weird grid for sure Andree
aw yoink sometimes words are very good therapy, lol
sm7/44 and sm8/60 are both words for emeralds or emerald green, derived from Latin and Greek words. If you don't know them, or their roots, you will never guess them.
da 5.12 ?
da 5/12: da plus double consonant plus a vowel carra
Yoink - If my Mum would only have cried or hugged, or opened up to me ,for once, and not eventually disposed of Dad's ashes, alongside one of their dogs beneath a tree in a nearby field without even telling me, then maybe I'd have 'got better' sooner. However, that's my Mum. She can be lovely but she can also be extremely thoughtless as to the feelings of others... or, more likely, she realised I'd want to make a ceremony for the two of us of it and I'd cry and in doing so I might make her cry... Mum doesn't 'do' crying or hugging etc.
carra: da 5: da = double cons + vowel
ty
i got the sm7 and sm8 (thanks to morewords) :-)
Good for you FranMag. I needed help for those words
Jac, I'm so sorry, my mum remains ina box in a cupboard and when and if her remains get dealt with it will be a group decision. Wherever we have travelled in the world it has been noted how strange it is to see a western family so close. That's a mark of pride
It's not Mum's fault... she was brought up by a working class Mum (who was funny and lovely, and huggy, and who got on with life) and a cold and distant father, who beat them if they digressed. Not Grandad's fault either... his Dad (born in Victorian times) never spared the rod. His Welsh Mum (my great grandmother) was lovely AND, unusually, had her own career in the jewellry business in the 1800s, but she didn't intervene or argue with her husband; it wasn't the way in those days.
min, those are my new words for the day. :-)
Yes, those sm words are odd!
Gt.Granddad was middle class Victorian, btw.
I don't even know how to pronounce the words Fran.
I am seeing my mum in 2 weeks time i havent seen her in a year so im really looking forward to seeing her. Sadly dad doesnt fly so i cant see him and they cant afford to fly me there like last time
I'm not sure the class distinctions will mean anything to the US Babblers though.
i doubt we'll ever need to min. :-)
cool infernal
(that your seeing your mum)
yep cept the house is a mess and i hate vacuming
yep cept the house is a mess and i hate vacuming
I think they're here also, herin.
Fran, Art. Despite working in a jewellers some 30 years' ago - those words were new to me also. I knew the forms of them that start with 'e' but not those that begin with 's'.
Vacuum? That's a dirty word!
jac, never heard of them at all!
same here, fran
hi une!
Ah, thought it was Old or Middle English. My mother would have known!
I think I have seen a lot of that, I have half of the family from the north and half from the south. I haven't done any genealogy but I believe from the family members I know that my (limited) extrovertness belongs to my Northern (specifically Liverpool) side, and my introverted side is my southern side
howdy!
wow that was big, sorry everyone
Yep i dont do that. I will do everything but that
Hi Une!
hey, artlady!
It takes me an hour to vacuum my house. I dislike to vacuum. I really don't like any kind of house cleaning!
artlady, is your mother speaking to you again? :-)
Hi Unea
Hi une
and dawg and herin!
no worries yoink
lol, Fran. I think she may be hooked. We'll see if she goes pro.
i have to clean the house to earn my keep, i dont pay rent and well sometimes food
Hello Uneaixoise! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
the only reason i don't like to vacuum is that it totally freaks out my dogs and I hate to see them slink/scurry from room to room as I clean! :-D
why won't enable accept arrgh? :-(
hey, min . . . I've been here off and on . . . down to my last word :-)
Ah. I just plain don't like to do housework! That's what my husband is for....well, other things too! ;-)
Somebody asked that same question before FranMag.
LOL artlady.
I'd just like to say that I have just realised how the chat here can beat completion
LOLOL,.. yoink!
yoink :-D
I can't believe I was distracted and came back to see vacuuming in the chat... ick, LOL
So what is your last word that you need Uneaixoise?
just got it . . . . all done!
don't worry pam, it was just a passing thought.
yay une!!!
Having had a dog in the house we need to Hoover the floor
Yoink - you've got it (re the chat). (Tentative hug). Well, you US folks, we are 'British'.
Congrats, Une!
LOL,. frad
*fran
congrats, une!
I should vacuum now that I'm done, but I'd rather clue
heh, it seems like a joke but - when I was first here I chatted and babbled. Then finishing got to be the drive and sometimes chatting took the time away. Then there was no chat. Then one day I realised what I was doing.
whoooo hooooo UNEA
Congratulations Uneaixoise on fireworks!Good for U!
so i stopped altogether
Yah Une
yay une
Vacuuming (or 'Hoovering' as we 'Brits' tend to call it) is a dirty word. Enable should not allow such a word.
ANd the monkey fingers have gotten me down to 7...
I rarely finish and talk a blue streak... but then, i prefer to work list-less....
then recently i restarted with the right idea
go arlady!!
Well it seems that i am not privileged to be cuddled today she just wants to be a pirate kitty
i mean artlady!!
Same here, Yoink. I just couldn't do it all.
you're right yoink, it's not the same without the chat and people in the chat.
artlady, we just put these imagined pressurse on ourselves
he7/32 and 8/45 please, presume they are a combo
first de 5.12 ?
I cannot imagine playing this game without a chat log
7 left here
Yoink, Art - no it's not possible to do it all. What I would say is make sure that yuo don't lose touch with real friends and family whilst Babbling.
hi all
I tried to go sans chat didnt work
carra, have you de*** the cards out?
for the first year, I rarely if ever chatted....
he 7/32 is he plus anagram of a type of crown Andree
hi marisal!!
Oh, hubby's right next to me as I babble! ANd as I Babble...
hi, marisal
The de 5/12 word is de plus what we breathe carra.
Herin - I finish in no time at all sans chat. But... it's not so much fun.
have thatone..the one before that
Marisa! you went pro! congrats

Well, finishing listless and chatlog clueless is the goal we set ourselves, eventually, I think. But, it's all just a bit of fun in the end and the friendships (real ones) that come from all of that are amazing.
you said it jac!
Jacula, check out isc too, it's free to register and you can play scrabble against different levels of people
Who'd have thought even a dcade ago, that you could meet people from all over the globe and then meet up with them?

the icky nights' sleep of the past two days has caught up with me all of a sudden...
Yoink - if I didn't have a trucker (who gets sick of driviing all around the cuntry, Scotland included, during his working day) and if the insurance in his present job didn't preclude/exclude me from going with him, I'd have seen Scotland by now.

marisa, congrats on going pro!
Smooth you exist. You on holidays?
Actually, doubt I will see you until Sat or Sun here in UK, jilli. Can't be about 'in the early UK hours' for next 2 nights. Shopping ate with Mum on Thursday (groceries and maybe the odd faray or two into clothes shops, if we're feeling naughty) and then, on Friday attending best friend's 2nd wedding (30 years after 1st) dressed in a 'posh' fashion, like she asked. She got married on a Friday last time! How inconvenient.
fantastic dawg!
thanks feather
just got back herin
Can't wait to see your photos
thought long and hard...like 5 min after the trial period was over and couldnt deal!

clue for ih5/14 please?
The Christian God seems very unforgiving though. I do wish old men who think they know what they are talking about would not try to monopolise 'God'. If they did not then maybe there would be fewer wars? Dunno, really. Do the older men think that they are restrraining the younger ones, or are they trying to spur them on to battle?
oh smooth, you'll find her some day
Dawg, hah! I wish
ih+ male sheep
you have pics of your son in a wagon?
i thought so once dawg... I'm thinking about a monastary now ;)

No,I haven't seen Dorens here at all all day digeridoo.
rather it's my fault that she is addicted to babble
or my girlfriend's fault, ultimately
didge, is doren your mother?
The east side of the state looks like North Dakota. flat and not much to see unless you go north to the breaks. Once you go west of billings to around columbus, the topography gets more interesting.
i'm off to bed, night
Dorens is my mother
night heather!
night Feather

G'night, lbd!
Goodbye digeridoo! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Or know anybody who uses one?
i'd love to jellen, but it's too expensive and i don't want to switch carriers either.
No,I don't use an iphone & have no desire to use one.
Jellen no but why?
My sister-in-law is trying to talk me into getting one. My phone is still on my ex's account.
only 1 hour left hurry
jellen, boingboing has covered it extensively, you can check it out there.
So I need to get a plan of my own.
Hello ikeyak! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I'll check it out there, Fran, thanks.
how are ya
I can think of MUCH cheaper cell phone plans Jellen.
Hi, ikeyak
yes jellen, at boingboing you'll get both the pros and cons
hi ike!
I love my palm pilot, but it's outdated, so I'm also looking at replacing it.
obviously there are cheaper phones/plans min, but the technology in the iPhone is so advanced.
It would be my palm replacement, iPod that I've never bought, and camera.
jellen, i would wait for the next generation iPhones so the bugs get worked out.
Since I'm not too tech savvy,I'd be overwhelmed by it
yep, in that way it would be a "bargain"
ah6?
doxy, a + not her + there's a great **le at Macy's this weekend.
ah 6/24 is a + not her plus South America dozy1lover.
a + not her + **y, doxy, have you lost weight?

I have heard Iphones are good but a witch to get them to talk to the pc
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
the latest iTunes update addresses that infernal. for music at least
I'd definitely want a good pc interface.
night min! see you tomorrow in the log!!
Good night, min.
jellen, another good place to check out issues with the iPhone would be the forums at apple.com, you can see the types of problems people are having
That's a good idea, Fran.
Fran the latest Itunes update is evil with a capital E
jellen, off the subject...i signed up for stumbleupon, how do i add you as a friend.
I haven't used iTunes recently.
why is that infernal?
look me up under jellen. Are you signed up as FranMag?
i think so jellen
yes, FranMag
Um it converts files into MP4 making it impossible to play mixed Cds on most players
haven't had any problems yet infernal.
My friends have
but what i usually do is burn new stuff on my computer and then rip them to my husbands computer with setting switched on to convert to MP3.
I added you as a friend, Fran, so I should show up as one of your fans.
de5, first one?
okay jellen, added you
