good eve lickety
thanks lickety, you're a hero
Thanks lickety
xoxoxo lickety!
ok, I found one too many words - now I gotta work out which it is
I wish I could enjoy this but I'm too tired and too depressed and have a too big day tomorrow
Hope tomorrow is a good day for you, jilli.
thanks jellen but it won't be -- just busy
lickety maybe god is not correct but you are!!!!!!!!!!
aww. wha's up, jilli? come on over for some cocoa?
oh, I screwed up at the library bigtime doing computer stuff and I feel I'm becoming unreliable and others seem to agree with me and that's depressing enough but there's more and I have nobody to talk to
i'm kinda the anonymous interweb friend and not a real life friend, i know, but if you need to vent, you can send me a ranting email
you have us Jilli
always here for each other
oh, jilli, it can't be as bad as all that. *hands you a cup of tea*
Clues are up!
thanks jes, but I won't bore you or anyone else any more than I have already -- sorry
<sends jilli a group hug>
ty, lickety.
oh thank goodness lickety much appreciated and big hugs
you guys are great
My email is in my profile, too, jilli. And, as a former librarian, I can relate to those frustrations.
bah, jilli. you haven't bored me yet.
Lickety too
everyone screws up on the computer all the time; it's the nature of the beast...
you are very special to us and we are here for you, if you mucked up on the computer no big deal it can be fixed so you are not to worry... hugs for jilli
chic's right jilli, and i speak as one who does tech support for a living.
I wouodn't feel so bad about it if my co-workers had been supportive
oh,,,,,, ca10 and ca11... compound word!
Hi mrp it's an eeeuww (ca's)!
they should be supporting you Jilli anyway we support you Jilli another bigger hug
hello mrp you be so clever!!!
you know, I came here for comfort and you've given it -- thank you all -- what a strange and wonderful world this is -- I'm sorry for those who don't know it and reject it
cankerwort's not valid.
and don't forgetthe ea7 and ea8 with te same eewwww factor for the compound
OK i have the words on either side of the ar 9 but not the 9 !!! ;(
ty, mrp for the 10/11.
went on a few dates with a guy...then he sorta disappeared ( also was in europe for a bit) anyway he still emails me his lame events thing so annoying lol
Hi
we love you jilli sending special babble cuddle!!!
Just blow it off, Jilli; you have tons of 'credit' accumulated, I'm sure....
got it - stop a six legger
hey Herin
add a small insect melon?
i second that chic
evening, lady.
9s, 10 and 11 are all done, right?
lol i just cant see them
I'm also a computer geek, hense Geekmeister. I work with them and teach part time at the local college. I always say there are 2 words for computers, the second word being computer. I leave the first word to your imagination. Keep a chin up. I've been to British Columbia. I have cousins there and Nova Scotia. beautiful country!!!
and jilli, we're here for you, and coworkers will forgive/forget sooner than you think.
{{{jlli}}}
good eve herin happy babbling -sorry wasnt seeing your hi down there
the problem is I'm 80 and scared I'm losing it because I AM forgetting things, I hope because I'm doing so many of them
Hi, herin
hey jilli you cant be loosing it because you can still use the computer!!!
jilli, i'm forgetting things at 53 - i'll bet it's busyness in your case.
Jill we all have 'no brainer days' regardless of age. We love and admire you.
and jilli, you maintain coherent, current, conversation
only have 3 9's: ra, da, wa -- what am I missing?
jilli, didn't know you where 80. Cann't tell via internet. You seem prety sharp to me.
computers are idiots and I'm the one who nearly deleted all the books in the library because I forgot to enter a number when I was tired
i find internet ranting quite therapeutic, jilli. and free to boot :)
ar9, nan
joso, you can find out about people if you click on their icons, lol
Library systems have backups, just in case that does happen
is ar 9 a plural?
frankly, jilli, if not entering a single number deletes the catalogue, something is wrong with the system, not you.
and you're all reviving me and my sense of humour and proportion
Remember, even if that happened, they just restore teh backup... Nothing catostrophic... It happens all the time!
don't know, nan.
I know, just saying it dosen't seem like you are loosing it from this point of view.
computers are evil jilli. it's a conspiracy against you ;)
Jill as the lovely Sprite says 'when i grow up i want to be like you'
jilli, any computer system that can delete things because of one key enetered or not is poorly designed. besides, files should be backed up. i'm speaking from my experience as a programmer and a bureaucrat.
so be thankful for small favors--it didn't catch fire!
Jilli I think someone has been pulling your leg because no software programme would allow that to happen!!!
dc, the system is to be changed soon, but still, I should have been more careful but slipped
199 left and average back up to 5
anyways you ask Lickety he will tell you... wont he mrp !!!
eh, ur being too hard on yourself, IMHO.
there is a backup, but because of my inattention, several others are to be inconvenienced and I'm loaded with guilt
1st da 8/9?
no guilt sweetie. no guilt!
making less light, melon
poorly designed system if a typo sends it into a tizzy, good that it is being replaced.
gigantic mass {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} to you all -- I REALLY feel better now -- let's change the subject xoxoxoxo
Think of it as giving them the opportunity to test their backup restoral process. If they never test it, how do they know they have a good one :-)
i have that - the one before that
Jilli you get hold of that guilt and give it a big kick out the door!!! your co-workers should be ashamed of themselves maybe a little envy going around that library me thinks
after ballerinas and before musty basements
Bablling on!!! ;-)
Jilli your the best!!~
oh shinnie
yup Geek, i always say there's no test like production!
I don't have it then, melon...

Or a many Bogans from the West Mr Pres?
got it - a wild guess - much like the wa 8/9 combo!

{poof}
Thanks, mrp and melon. Got my first 9's!
oh cybernan - ar 9 apprehend picnic "guest"?
{repoof}

Does anyone have a clue for the ca11 other than eeuuwwww?
are both da 9's part of a 8-9 combo?
Hi Cyber

jilli, a hug for you too :) Jellen, chic, dc, et al :) Thanks for the welcome.
hello Sprite!!
what about web yahoo?
haven't tried, checking....
chic - i had the tv guide channel on again and i heard one of the commentators describe evil dick as the spawn of the devil with evel knevel as his father and andy dick as his mother, i had to laugh
I will not nag about the 14 Ks. Not with Fran facing the pain she is.
lol helen, nice description!
that's just silly, hk!
anyone else experiencing a bit of lag with this grid?
just with my lame brain, HK
web one is blocked, lady.
word take ages to appear in the list, helen, but they do appear.
Ok im at google talk
How does it work?

dont knock yourself out Kiwi
Hi Sprite
lol lady... hi again, or still, or whatever ;)
Sorry if i missed you
I know you purists will go tsk tsk but I'm too tired to tackle this purely and might as well get some fun out of it
you did not, you even greeted me, darling.
Oh so i did
jilli, why tsktsk at you... you are certainly old and wise enough to know what you are doing! And a very integer babbler at that ;)
:( silly me
I don't mind being greeted twice, lady! *hugs* again for you.
Okay, time for sleep. Goodbye, everyone!
sleep well, Jellen, sweet dreams!
g'night jellen
niters jell
Just watching news and a lovely old building in Hobart got destroyed even possibly destroying the lovely old arcade next door
sprite, I don't feel wise tonight -- old, yes -- blurted out a big wail earlier -- never mind -- this group cheered me up
oh, so it spread beyond the building itself. so sad.
*gives jilli a warm hug* You are always wise, even if you don't feel like it. And we love you.
ok anyone want dinner - roasted chicken legs, mashed potatoes, pumpkin and gravy
its so nice having hubby home for a week on leave - hes defrosted the freezer for me, made a banana cake for morning tea for work tomorrow and cooked dinner lol
when are you opening the Chez Kiwi restaurant?
The building was 171 odd years old and was next to an old arcade everything is a big mess.
tomorrow hes gonna spring clean the laundry lol
when you come for a visit jilli lol
jilli... just read back. If you wanna email, my addy is in the profile, just leave out all spaces. The coworkers are probably just jealous of you ;)
oh, what a prize hubby, kiwi!!!
he has small moments in time jilli lol
his way of showing his affection, Kiwi *hug*
must be true sprite cause he sure as heck doesnt show it any other way lol
that was what I was thinking, Kiwi... Remembered what you told us and thought that there must be warm feelings under all the cold.
hi sprite, great vidios this week
glad you like them, joso! It was such a pleasure collecting them :)
the co-workers are not at all jealous -- they are great people, much more capable than I am -- we are all volunteers and the guy I inconvenienced the most is a retired PhD in physics, a very gentle man, so when he didn't disagree that I might be getting incompetent i have to take that to heart
sprite only thing warm at the moment is the fire lolol
jilli, does this happen to you a lot lately or is this a singular incident?
la sigh
and you, Kiwi, and you. Don't forget :D
yes, i agree - great videos choices sprite - i said the other night, that i was kinda bored at the start of the rainman one, but i'm really glad i'm stubborn & stuck with it - amazing!
phhhhht lolol
oh yes, sprite -- your video today with the fantastic juggler was a wonder! Thansk you so much for finding it!
Sprite Video Rocks
i was thinking that this guy is like a human computer, you just gotta feed him the right information & then ask the right questions & he might just be able to tell you the meaning of life :)
glad you shared them, widly varried, and all interesting
ah, I am glad you stuck with it, helen. Isn't it just brilliant! I was so impressed with the Rainman. Exactly what you describe! He seems to be so close to the unknowable answers.
yes, today's made me laugh & i applauded right along with the audience at the end - that's a lot of physicality there
When lickety said I had to fill the week, I decided to pick videos that touched me, no matter how. Some funny, some interesting, some amazing, some heroic.
great choices, well done sprite!
I am glowing from pleasure right now, so glad you like the videos :D
oh, very much, every one.
sprite, I've forgotten more appointments lately than usual but I've also been taking on more addictions like Babble and Geni (the family tree thing) and writing articles about the bridge results -- feeling a bit overwhemed -- but I guess not handling the overload as well as I used to
oh so thats the light I can see from the direction of Holland!
HI Ata
jilli, duplicate or rubber?
Ata your sign i say it as 'explosive dogs at work'
what I so loved about the juggler... he dances. There is an incredible beauty in each of his movements that comes purely from merging with his art.
evening, ata
hi Ata :)
lol exactly, herin
and hi all :)
Be very very very careful dogs go 'poof' in this area'
exactly, sprite, about the juggler. I wish I'd seen the Rainman, but as you've suggestd, I can catch it later -- if I have time, which seems to be getting scarcer and scarcer!
jilli... handling a real overload less easy is pretty normal at your age. I am really sorry you felt incompetent today and no one supported you. Please believe me when I say that I think you are a wonder all to yourself. We are all entitled to make mistakes, even a series of them, especially when it is all a bit muchish.
the magnetic phsyics one, bizzare how like life the patterns where, like coral growth or brain patterns, 2 legged dog, juggler. alway a good suprise, what should be in the bottom of a crackerjack box.
good eve ata happy babbling
jili - do try to make time to see the rainman video - it speaks to the latent potential within us all
:D :D joso! Absolutely... I think that is what I wanted to do. Don't you love that feeling of not knowing the surprise and enjoying discovering it :)
thank you sprite. It's great to have friends, even if they're far away. {{{BIG HUG}}}
let me check, jilli, hold on
yes, anyway, enough gushing. back to work, almost finnished the a's now.
there is NOT 40 W words
there is NOT 40 W words
woohoooo doing a little happy dance i am halfway woohoo
sorry herin there is but i havent got them all yet lol
hahahaha - yes, the physics one made me feel like a complete idiot, but i loved the intensity of the 'narrators' clearly i should have taken the physics appreciation course first so i could know exactly what it was that i was seeing
just got ato k finished
pout
wheee wheee for keeeweee!
jilli: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= 8Vs6R5YZQ3c
a-k, well I started 10 minuets late today, lol
watch it before bed, jilli... I bet it will make you feel better.
lol jilli i might just have to do that - full of cola lol
bet the b's went quick
I want wardance
thanks, sprite -- I'll watch it now because I'm going to bed pretty soon -- bbl
go groovy
*hugs jilli*
lol Ata... who ruffled your feathers?
it just sounds good!!
will post you package today, btw... it is all set to go now
wheeeee! and tell me how much I owe you :)
will do as soon as I know what sending it costs, lol.
btw sprite -- my gloom wasn't only becoz of the library mess -- there were other things, like my adult grandson not bothering to reply to emails asking about his plans etc etc ad nauseam
234 words & 1 grey - sheeeeeesh
awwwww jilli... I am so sorry! I seriously mean this: if it would be helpful for you to vent some of it to a virtual friend, just know that I am one! *sending you a warm virtual hug*
http://tinyurl.com/3xjgw4 I just updated the fireworks history. Thanks sprite for a great set
thanks lickety
re7/8 combo? The last one? please.
heeyyy lickety, good to see you :) It was a pleasure doing it.
hiya lickety
another grey!
Pigeon, it's not a combo re 7 = re + s5
re 8 is a compound word of two smaller words in the grid
Yep. I just found that one. Still need the re 8 after it.
Crap. I can believe how long it took to find that word.
jilli, if you are still here: email on its way to you.
sprite -- just got back from the Rainman -- what a wonderful film -- how do you find these things?
jili - great, wasn't it?
that is what you do in re 8
I search for keywords, jilli. When I find a theme that I think could hold some treasures, I type in the keyword and check out the results. Lots of nonsense there, but some real nice ones too :)
not only the subject, but the way it was filmed
oh yes, I agree, jilli! To me it felt like I was gifted with a view on how he experiences things, from the inside almost.
thanks, sprite -- now I'll check email and go to bed -- hope to get an uninterrupted night for a change -- dear old cat tends to yell for attenton starting at about 5 am sometimes
*sends tranquillising vibes to cat and hugs jilli with love*
niters jili

I dont think that im just saying she probably thinks im not right for the job
ta7: first 3 letters = colour you get from the sun. Last 4 letters thing you have to open and walk through to enter somewhere.
sigh. i think you'd be great for it.
Thanks much. Never would have thought of that one.
that ta7 should be pluralable, as it's a type of oven
Yep. Meh but its ok
Im stuck with 2 W missing words
Sprite is brighter than most!! thats why shes a princess
I agree on the plural thing. Lady, anyone who thinks you're crap is crap herself.

its true!!
oh, that sounds better than my pizza.

hello mrp how the arm
Who here could spend 10 grand in 24 hours?
oh the arm is ok today :) how is everyone? and has anyone heard from fran? hope she is coping ok...
easiy, lady
Sprite, it's big but not BAAAD, except for those k's of course!
i could easily
*easily even
pretty close....drb always seems to be first
infern, I could spend that in 24 minutes
24 seconds if I was in the right store
Ks are done, ARB... I decided not to nag about them this time. Knowing what Fran goes through, my usual complaints seem way too futile.
think pigeon was tonight
wtd drb and dart woohoooo ^5
just popped up for air to see if anyone had finished so good timing lol
ive got 90 left lol
and i have 90, lol
hi everyone
andree, howdy
i have not been around and had no idea what has happened to fran?
and are you getting better mrp
Hi Andree

hi andree good to see you happy babbling
Andree her middle sister was tragically killed in an accident on thursday night in Guam
her sister was killed

Got that one
highest wa is a 9,78
missing one stinking W are they all normal?
there are 40 of them lol
well the 20 I have are ...

If i was Shane Warnes wife i would leave him and take him for all his worth
is that for any particular reason or just a random thought?
Random though
I agree
thought
ata he accidentally sent another of his text messages to his wife!!!
ha ha ha! stupid man *facepalm*
naughty shane never knows when enough is enough huh
hello andree
But still i hate anyone that does the whole 'i love you i want do it again'. This is a man that seriously should be banned from any mobile phone use. Maybe he can be a spokesman for Virgin Text Monster plan
have any of you got a news link about it?
sounds good herin lol
Um www.heraldsun.com.au
these mobile phones are catching a lot of men out, my daughter whose youngest is only one left her husband 3 months ago, started with a mobile phone message she intercepted
ty! it hasn't made international headlines yet LOL
it will ata
I'm sure! We all like laughing at Shane Warne over here
he is a joke , so why not laugh
we do :)
saying that, he's doing a lot of good for UK county cricket
it amazes me how females can be so gullable maybe they think oh hge really menas it this time!!! huh
he is good at cricket and obviously deceiving females who dont mind getting involved with a married man
thats part of being female lore
really???? didnt think we were all that stupid
not stupid. just more trusting at first
not all ... quite a lot though
ata do you mean to say getting involved with a married man is okay in your search for your ideal partner?
didn't say it was ok, just say people do it
true, thats how rats like my son in law manage
What did i miss?
Ugh - I spent 7 years with a married man - b*stard never told me he was married.... I thouht he worked away
men like it, women fall for it. not all women, thank goodness, and not all men are like that. but some certainly are, on both sides
herin stop eating and put your tuppence in on Shane Warne and the likes of men like him and the females they get involved with
My ex did the same thing but on the PC, moron didnt think i could back track his actions
ugh granadan!
LMAO - Chris doesnt rea;ise you can go to pic viewer and scroll back through everythinhe has been looin at - keep me up to date with what underwear will tickle him this week LOL
I know ata - when he got found out it materialised he had 5 kids with three women - one was mine
I also found my ex was cheating on me and found the receipt of the ring the girl he was seeing and i went to the store with said receipt and said that my finance had this receipt can i see the ring. They showed me and they were all 'maybe he bought it for you' In 'tears' im going 'no thats not my taste' and 'he spent our money'
oh gosh. wow. b*stard
oh how rotten
well okay girls sorry if i opened up a hornets nest
some men are sh*ts, some are stunners, very few seem to be in between
us girls deserve better
hey herin glad you got rid of him!!
I got a stunner this time round - very laid back, ives me free rein. Only drawback is he doesnt want any more kids, says our three are enough
i think most are decent human beings , its just the bad ones we hear and talk about
Hi all....a clue please for ca10..ca/11 combo please?
wish i could help flask
Yep this guy was all class, left me on my birthday (we lived together for another 3 or 4 months i slept on couches every weekend) then he left her for his best mates ex wife. Start calling Jerry Springer on this one
i am not knocking men i am probably knocking the women that involve themselves with married men
flask - two horrid words put together. ca6 + wo4
ok Atal....thanks!
I think ith a lot of them its complete naievity. they kno no better
whens your birthday Herin
what value is the ca6?
takes 2 to tango. I think I'd "blame" whichever of the man or woman went into the situation with eyes open
i am glad you have someone nice now grana ... wait for the grandkids much nicer you can send them home when you have had enough lol
24th of OCtober
Well, Id blame whoever was cheating - if she is single, shes betraying no one she knos. If he is married he wants a firework up his ar**4,4
talking about the women that get involved with people that are known to be married eg beckham, warne
so you be a scorp thought so
Yep
me too
lore - Im going to fill them with alcohol and e numbers then send them back saying "revenge..."
My exs best mate had already left his wife but he broke the rule of 'thou shall not see friends exes'
lol grana
Im still stuck on this ca10
Oddly enough Lore i didnt do the revenge thing. I let it go guy was a looser and i knew what he was up too and it was nice to escape
got it
Thanks on that CA 10
good comment herin know exactly what you mean .... you built a bridge and got over it yay for Herin
TY!
ANd if you cant build bridges swinm
good on you herin, that is what my daughter is doing now, putting her life back together and getting on with it
lol herin
andree your daughter is wise and with your support she will find definately come out better off
when i left my husband after 38 years i just went forward, looking back only makes you bitter
cor, bet we could all tell some ex stories. ibve got a funny one, but not for viewing where kids miht read it LMAO
i have lots after 38 years, but not going there
I certainly could!
long time
and you are very wise thinking of what the kids might read grana
my eldest likes to log on here and have a go after school....
Andree there is actually a growing trend in the um (ducks) older people of long term marriage separating
yep, and I bet its a hell of alot harder after 38 years than after 5 or 6.
it was hell and a HUGE decision
grana your still a baby lots of lifes experiences for you yet maybe forget the grandkids for a while
but best thing I ever did
I bet - it must be almost a new life
yep, Im in no hurry - just enjoying what Ive got :)
it is and I have so much to be thankful for and I was so desperatly miserable
I am 30 this year and im looking forward. Having had a crappy 4 long term (more than a year) past relationships i am greatful for the lovely man im with today
hey! another knitter!
looking around, do you mean me grana
yep
I do cross stitch so i knew that it wasnt me
<--- popping my head up - still here 30 to go lol
thi must be a record for me - an hour here and I havent typed anywords into this box yet!
a lot less being done since I took up babble, lol have about 6 patchwork projects ggoing at the moment, i am slowing with age
yay groovy
I love cross stitch, but never get to finish any of it - i get lot, unpick and lose interest
I love cross-stitch
Ive never tried patchwork - bought a couple of books on it, but never plucked up the guts
go kiwi
I am in the middle of a big piece been at it on and off for 2 years
why no korma?
pics needed!
I work off the unprinted fabric where you have to count it off yourself
I love cross stitch, one of my biggest projects was 8 dining chairs each with different berry plants, ex husband got custody of dining suite so girlfriend made him sell it
hope he got lots of money for your effort!
me to herin , i have never done anything but counted crosstitch
OMg WHAT A WASTE! I ue the blank aida too, but have to do very small projects
Andree that is rude. If you did the chairs i would gladly say keep it. I am not a fan of patterned cross stitch. Long stitch yes but not cross stitch as they never get the pattern printed right
i thought it funny that she was intimidated by it
I dont like patterned aida, or aida in general. I love evenweave
i just love linen
LOL @ Andree - never tried anything but the ada - maybe one day ewhen I quit babbling LOL
Thats what i never understand about relationship break ups. Separation of property. I never understood the need to be bitter or vindictive in property.
GOOD MOENING............8)
Morning Hodag
hiya hodag. how is it you can be forsaken, but not saken....
hope you are in a k mood
grana when you try patching , have a couple of lessons first then you can work from a book, very hard to understand the concept otherwise

help, still need 1st 8 and 9 da's
danish plant, andree.
compound and plural.
is this a word we would know dc?
good morning all - can't sleep so might as well try for a few words
I'd appreciate knowing if se5/18 is a variant spelling of a place or if it has another definition altogether? Got it by accident (is that what y'all call 'monkey'ing?) but it won't fix in the memory without a reference.
Hi Flosey
hi flosey, thx dc, i need to think on this
hello Flosey!!
jwr - click on the ? next to the word and most times you will get a def. Morning all.
hello FM
adder****, bane****, the latter part is also "the liquid created by the mashing of malted barley to use in brewing beer"
Lynxxx!! hello
going to dive into this grid for a bit
type of elder, the 1st da8/9
hello FM
looked on morewords dc, now i have the word, great clue thanks
andree da8&9 scandinavian verucca
Hi lore. Big grid for a Monday morning but many great words to be extracted.
hi fmitch
sure is FM i have been enjoying the grid
TY for your card, FM!!
LOL, funny n'est pas?
very!
Hi Andree too.
Thanks FM but I started out that way, found nothing, and then googled "define" without result --- except that it turned up as a MISspelling of a common...very common!...place.
ooo that is very frustrating when it does that.
there's one se5/18 that is a type of wampum
To which I must ask what is a wampum - and don't answer its a type of se5/18!
every helpful, eh?
There's more than one se5/18?
well, apart from being a type of se5/18 ...its cylindrical beads made from shells, pierced and strung, used by North American Indians as a medium of exchange
also known as peag, another babblet
Was Haz on yesterday? Haven't seen her since Saturday. Youd don't think she is having a life do you? Ah ta Ata
don't know,sorry, jwr
yes, she was here
Good morning/evening all. You called?
there! :D
Hello Haz!!
hi, haz!
The genie of the cooking sherry bottle has arrived, morning dear :)
we were worried you might have got a life, lol
It's magic! Hi haz
Hello all - yes, I was here yesterday, but the grid was too short for comfort. Today's is.....longer.
St Haz of Amontillado
ROFL
A life? When there's babble around?
Atalante -- you must have a secret dictionary; I'll be wampumed if I can find it. Thanx anyway -- I'm a bit more than halfway in the grid but 9/10ths asleep.
she has a point
Well thats why I was worried Haz.
lol I just clicked on the ? and followed the trail (but I did know it anyway from doing that before in babble!)
I took a quick look at the grid earlier, but had to take a phone call, so no time for greetings at that time.
Did you spend your birthday money, FMitch?
Hiya, everyone!!!!!
Hello MM.
Frustratingly No!! and not for w4 of trying.
Hi MM
Talk about a contrast.....yesterday, only 56 words, today, 428......
i keep telling myself to get a life but when you don't see me here i am either busy with work or my computer is playing up, lol
you tried to shop but didnt spend money? something wrong there ..
That's a pity. Money to burn and nothing took your fancy?
Saw the digi camera I w4 and it's out of stock, etc etc. Will have another go after client meeting tomorrow.
typical!
Well, at least you know what you want.
Daughter's boyfriend used to work in Jessops. His biggest frustration was customers who wouldn't read their camera instructions.
Morning Haz, Atalante, FMitch, Andree, movieman, lynxxx. Just finished the W's, but in case you think I'm doing well, I'm working backwards!
t'Atalante. Next time I'll track the word to its lair and drag it home so I'll have it next time. Nite.
It's very pleasant having the cash sitting there not earmarked for anything work or bill related.
hi hydra
Hello hydra.
Morning hydra
Good night, jwr. Addiction has to give way to sleep eventually, doesn't it?
ah, there are (at least) se5/18
morning Hydra
the wampum one and one that seems to mean the same as a very similarly spelled word (I think thats what you're referring to jwr)
update on my Bob Haz - he lives (really a cat in disguise - 9 lives) - it could be a stroke or meningitus or brain tumor or viral infection or or or ?????? he is getting better although back leg still gives way and still veering to the right - we are all getting used to a dog leaning on us/wall/chair as he tries to get around - I really don't know what to do
Have you seen my beloved Madagascan hedgehog is back in the grid along with the exploding mountain!
YAY for the hedgehog!
Indeed, there's the wee critter.
lynxxx how old is Bob?
14 years....I know it will come to me - the hedgehog that is!
lynxxx - it sounds as though the vets don't really know what is going on, they tend not to rush in when they think it's a stroke because they can recover more quickly than humans. Probably best to wait for a while to see if there is any improvment.
Gosh that is a good age.
This grid has sewing words in it.
Thats what we are doing Haz...although we'll get a blood test in a couple of days back w. our reg vet - just in case its viral and he could take antibiotics.
There, there HAz. Deep breaths.
sorry about that haz, lol
hope bob gets better lynxxx
it has a good few, haz
I'm being brave about it (the sewing words).
poor bob, hope he gets better :(
I hope the vet can get to the bottom of things for you, lynxxx. I know you'll want to do the best for Bob.
thanks everyone
Halfway - time for coffee - back in a bit
See you later, lynxxx.
See you soon, give Bob a scratch behind the ear from me.
Sounds like a stroke. My partner's cat had one and did recover in a couple of months. Same with my partner!!!
Is your partner continuing to make progress, hydra?
Anyone care to chuck a few clues for the 8s, 9s, the 10 and the 11 in the general direction of the East of England?
hi movie
11am and my coffee break is over. TTFN.
Bye FMtich - I should do some housework to keep my conscience happy. Back later.
movie ca6+wo4=10 then plural
Bye Haz.
bye fmitch and haz

Ewww At is the rabbit um post mortem?
yes thank goodness
don't tell scrabbler
We wont
it was a myxy rabbit. short and quick end
a dog has to do what a dog has to do
so speaks a dog lover
i agree andree, and actually i'd ather any rabbit with myxymatosis has such an end rather than weeks of pain and confusion and blindness
i will!!!!
yes ata, i only ever saw 1 rabbit with myxo, it was an awful sight
ata how do you know that
scrabs would agree if she'd seen this poor rabbit
says you if it was so bad hope your dog is okay
grrr
myxy isn't deadly to anything but rabbits
sorry they took my tv show off again
Ata so is this an often thing for the dog?

dana I just read your profile,I am an animal lover also. I have a silky(dog),3 laying hens, one roster, four chicks and a pond full of fish(koi, fantails and comits big ones also four bird feeders. We love to sit and watch the birds when were eating, plus I feed the wild turkeys and deer.
Where are the 10 and 11, Herin?
CA
yay hodag you sound like my kind of person there are lots of animal lovers in here I think we might all be
Are they hard to find?
um not really
compounds
the animals sure take your mind off of all the bad things going on in our world 8)
sure do i love to watch the birds feeding love to watch them bathe
SOrry im not feeling the best. Dinner i cooked does not agree with my belly
me too
they aren't the most obvious words, merk ....
and when the hens bring their young for their first bath
Which ca do they build from?
ca6
ca6 + wo4
ty
it is so awsum the way the mother hen talks to the chicks and they run right to her,my grandkids love to come and watch them.:}
Any other hard ones to clue before I hit the road? I'm doing this while traveling today and hope to hit the internet tonight?
Animal lover here too - but hub and g/kids spent ages this morning building a bird feeder which they have put up in a spot which is going to make my cat fatter & happier - will have to wait then take it down - cat just picks them off - doves are so stupid
you might consider ro4/5 ;P
Consider it difficult? Do you have a clue for the ro5 then?
Merk: ta7: colour of the sun + entry
ro4/5 is the word you just used in your post, Merk
da8 and 9 stinking herb. Starts with great dog. Compounds.
the doves arn't very bright but, they are loving and they clean up all the seed the other birds drop on the ground. :)
yep thats the problem hodag - cat seems to know that too
e t
I love cats but not at the feeder.lol
message from an alien, inge?
doves here get attacked by hawks people say they are not bright but when the hawk is about they go for their lives!! my cats do not eat birds its true cross my heart had them since kittens and have taught them they actually sit with the birds and the birds just keep eating
lol Sprite
got the great dog bit but could you help with the second part please

*hands inge a phone to call home*
awww he's a good boy
lol Sprite
rthankyou got it
yes he is.
I decided cant feed & water birds while cat is young and frisky - already cat thinks i am very piggy - whatever he brings in i take away and yell at him - i'm sure he thinks i eat them - sometimes i am lucky and bird still flies away - small snake yesterday also still ok
Any more 8 or 9 clues then?
Scared them good an proper
Good Morning All, guess I missed clues for all the big ones :(
he probably does ursh think you eat them i mean lol
Morning Peri
im surprised that darkarts is not accepted
not if you can scroll, peri. And hi.
ursh what a beautiful pic!!!
some say cat brings food into house - i think they too selfish for that - brings prey in cos he knows cant escape too easily
I have two wild cats that come up from the field to check out the birds so I keep a dish of cat food on an old table for them to keep their bellys full because they do take care of the rodents for us.
Ursh dont feed the birds as the kitty will think all you can eat buffet is happening
sprite saw your clue for the da8 and da9 but can't figure out the end
hi prei
Hi Peri
I hate an words ... it's a mind thing with me

Probably the ones in which a parent calls to ask my permission to give their kid acetaminophen. "I just wanted to ask you first." Hey, if your kid is feeling miserable, help them feel better!
scrabs, you should tell them to look up edward monkton;s hamsters
Lunchtime over so will continue tonight, bye for now

Lovely video today Sprite
brb going to check out emonktons site again
Afternnon Ata :) Hi Mom Hey sprite and Scrabbler and TO and, and, everyone
Scrabbs - I've got bad bews for you. The object of your affection is already married and has 2 kids. Here's his bio:"Giles Andreae is Britain's best-selling contemporary poet, through his personas "Purple Ronnie" and "Edward Monkton". A graduate of Oxford University, Andreae completed his degree under difficult circumstances as he developed Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph glands, and began an intensive course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy the day before his final exams began. He managed to sit some of his papers, and was awarded an upper second class degree. Giles lives with his wife Victoria, a children’s clothes designer for Mini-Boden, in Notting Hill, where he shares an office with writer Richard Curtis and radio and TV presenter Mariella Frostrup. He also has a seaside retreat in Dorset. Giles and Victoria have three children: Flinn, and twins, Freya and Nat, who were born at the end of the last millennium."
thanks ursh, and congrats on finishing!
hi FMitch
Im going to be as my brains just imploed
sounds like you both had a blast.
Hi FM too
See, I have made outrageous comics about my friends, their quirks etc, and Eddie Boy and I...............oh, no, Jacula is bursting my bubble right now. My dream is over, waaaahhhh.
Sorry, 3 kids.
sorry Scrabbler
Oh I didn't realise he was Purple Ronnie too!
*There, there, Scrabbs. Pats a weeping Scrabbs soothingly.*
You lot are mad. Im going to bed
he's a lot funnier in this incarnation than his purple ronnie incarnation
FMitch - I recognised the Purple Ronnie stamp as soon as I saw the Edward M stuff in my favourite Rosie Nieper catalogue.
It's OK, I am happily single. I cannot imagine sharing my life with a man.
About the video - someone told me to watch one on YouTube called "Paul Potts singing opera" - worth having a look at - most amazing audition I have ever seen - the UK players will know all about him
night lady
But I can have my fantasies, right?
URsh he has a web site and an album now
Waves goodnight
Loves you and leaves you
night Herin
It was incredible ursh, he walked on and you wondered what his "act" would be and then out came this amazing voice!
Scrabbler, fantasies are free. Go with the butterfly and fly out of the box :D
newt
sorry
Oh, yes, I saw that video a few months ago---he is amazing. He was auditioning. He is so meek and timid and then out comes this voice!!!
share a life with a man, scrabs? no, no. you take over his life, money, etc. what's yours is yours and what's his is yours!
FMitch real "jaw-dropping" stuff
sweet pic, Mom! Your youngest?
Yes, you can dr5/14, Scrabbs.
lol Sprite. I put that up on Wednesday and said it was Ren

Haha, mom23!! Now I understand the strategy.
LOL Mom!
And LOL, Sprite
LOL, Mom!!
I should have been so cute as a baby
Oh, geez, I missed Babble last week...not the word-search, but the chat!!
howdy, i'm back. made it home in only an hour today, including a stop at the grocery store.
:D Scrabbler. We missed you too
only one person in a relationship needs to be happy, and i say if mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy! that's my ma6/21 ;)
Scrab I think I have the best of both worlds, PArtner and I both have our own places and have no intentions of moving in together. Both been married etc.
could you please help me with the ar 9 please
Hi Dcseain
It is a rather empty feeling to miss out on the chatter.
Hi dc.

218 for me.
r
138 left and the list is beckoning temptingly
I used the list at the end too
I have to get ready for my tennis match. After that, I return to the office after a vacation, and that means tons of charts and phone calls and lots of catching up and seeing and hearing boss, Richard Cranium, oh, I may vomit.
go kick their ar4, Scrabbler!
Tennis will be FUN! 8 ladies laughing.
enjoy, scrabbler. i'm sure you'll get through it all in spades. Or no trump.
**placed barf bag discreetly in jacket pocket** Have a good day Scrabbler.
Bye everyone--enjoy the day!

bye bye scrabbler
morning eva
I gave up trying to get through to the doctor's office. I drive there now when I need them for something. It is ridiculous
yeah, but TO should not drive right now.
I didn't know the circumstances. Sorry.
balance problems... not good behind the wheel :)
{{TO}}
they should have a line for urgent issues
no, that would be a bad idea.
most doctors do
gotta scoot. Need to run some errands.
i go to a large practice with on-site urgent care. I usually only need to wait at most 5 min to get through.
TO, take care.
bye, Mom.
Hugs to all. Bye bye
bye DC
off to, bye all :D
ciao, sprite, have a great rest of the afternoon.
lol tw4/8 is what my husband and I call my soon to be step mother in law
lol lideola she must be some character
that's the only tw i've foud
found even
it just seems to be the best word to describe her... she's not malicious, but not very likeable- she a tw4/8
dc- you can get that word in 2 directions- so you can build off it a bit in the other direction
Good afternoon/morning all. Back to the grid/grindstone.
bye all! happy babbling!
bye bye TO feel better!
Owl, feel better soon!
hi Haz!
Hi Haz!
actually lid, i think you want to describe her with thw twi word. do you know what twa means?
hi, haz :)
Hello there - frustration is having a 428 word grid and a husband who thinks he needs to use the computer.
ciao, TO
yes, i know what the twa means- and its better than the twi
i won't use words whose origin is meant as a put down on all women, tw 4 is such a word. lid i think you got that backwards.
i won't use words whose origin is meant as a put down on all women, tw 4 is such a word. lid i think you got that backwards.
LOL, poor haz! you can use mine, no way am i playing today.
your opinion, my opinion
i'm not putting down all women
what ever...do you use the cu word, too?
Are you not feeling well, TO? I'm judging from some of the comments earlier, not from the fact that you're not playing.
affirmative, haz....
when it fits, but not usually- they aren't in the same class as each other in my opinion
I hope you get better soon.
with each other i mean
ah, my understanding is tw is a brtit versin of cu word. i work with sailors, but i draw the line at those words.
na
My ma used to tend bar near Quantico, and i'm certain some jarheads learned vocab from her. :)
i've always just thought that cu was extremely derogatory and tw was just not nice
they are both the same
And endlessly repeating hints of the words isn't particularly uplifting.....
lideola - the twa word describes my horrid neighbor as wel i agree - in some instances, some words just fit better than others. if it offends the sensibilities, well - that Person offends My sensibilities! :)
i know they have the same anatomical meaning, yes they are the same- but my understanding of the connotation is different
woo! greyed the W. Two tiles down, 23 to go.
and are either regular parts of my vocabulary? no
wow - good job dc
i think "woot" should be acceptable -- i say it ALL the time. :)
problem with starting the grid when it's new, and then coming back to it 8 hours later - i keep repeating words i already have!
I'm quite sure I've seen Bush do a war da5/14, but I guess it is not a compound word
yes, i think so too, as well as woots. Of coures, it doesn't allow the plural of the Indian oven, ta7/32, either.
Good morning. What a grid for a Monday morning when we had such a small grid yesterday when I had time. Anyway, I need a clue for re7/60 the first one, please?
yes, st. franny, you do, but i find i see things i missed, often 4s and 5s.
hmmm just tried warda5/14 and its not a word, thought for sure that would be
morning, marc
ta7/32 type of Indian cooking
yep, i complained that it lacked the plural, as the style is named for the oven.
sorry, didn't mean to be so cross.
morning dcseain
i dont have that one yet, but i dont have many of the biggies yet...
maybe i shoul sleep soon. Guess i'll see how tired i get.
Hello all. I usually lurk this time of the morning because I don't have much time, but I have to comment on this issue. When I was in Junior High School, I was very naive. I overheard one of the girls on my cheerleading squad say the tw word and I figured it was the same as the twi word. So I was sitting in my civics class and my teacher (a male) called me a twi. I promptly responded by calling him tw4/8. There was a hush over the whole class. He called me out in the hall and asked me if I knew what that word meant. When I said no, he told me to go home and ask my mother. Man was she appalled when I asked her what it meant and I told her I called Mr. Evans that. Ah...good times...
LOL. ....hi chick!
lol smithchick. The joys of youth. :)
Hey Annie!
hello smithchick
Hey Marc...how goes it?
re7/60, please?
sorry don't have it yet Marc
i don't have it yet, Marc, sorry.
Me either.
no re 7/60 here either
re + wo5/26......to re rouse
thanks chiley
ty
whoo.. my name is in the grid again
mmmmm......Vanilla Caramel tea -- tasty AND warming to my chilly bones!!
gotta go to my appointment. maybe a new ultrasound when I come back. goodness I'm 38 weeks today
heh. :) YAy!
hm. tea. tempting.
is it chilly in the DC area? because here in the philly area its still warm... warm enough that i have the a/c on, and they are forecasting near 90's for this week
good luck tnt
yes, it's chilly here this AM, but high is to be near 90ºF
ra 8s and 9 clues please.
daytime is warm -- suppose to be 80s this week... but the morning are quite chilly...and so is my office! hehe
they build on the 6 before them.
the 9 is plural of the 8.
ty, I'm working on that one now
merk, the 6 is to make as a mouse-like creature.
yes, the mornings here are around 60... but the days are warm... so sounds about the same
it was in the 50s in Springfield, VA when i left work.
im just a cold person by nature -- the BF will crank the AC while im pulling a blanket over myself...heh
i don't chill easily. Got home an threw open the windows, but will close them before i sleep. Saves on cooling.
yes, lunchtime outside and the walk home from the metro are quite nice... but AC has a tendancy to give me a chill that i cant overcome... i have my feet basking in front of the space-heater in my cubicle as we speak. :)
i should suggest that the the tiny woman who's always cold at work. Thank you, EvaN.
short wii break, back soon
i dont think we are really "allowed" to have space-heaters here, as they are considered a "fire hazard." but ive had mine for the almost-7 years ive been here, and god help the person who tries to take it away from me!
ooh, wii! whatcha playin?
re 7,60 clue please
re + to rouse from sleep
ty evan
YW merk
just a quick round of wii sports tennis, and Everybody Votes. I really like Everybody Votes channell.
i do love me some wii tennis
i like the bowling too. I like the TIger Woods golf better than Wii's though, it's more realistic.
Have tried Excite Truck, WarioWare, or Raymond's Raving Rabbits?
re 7,44 clue please
my roommate has the wii, so we dont have many games for it...the wii boxing kicked my butt though!
the boxing is a great cardio, and whole body, workout.
ive only played it 2-3 times...too much cardio for me!
I used it to get in shape for the hiking season, and plan to use it more through the winter.
re7/44, please got the other?
morning, Babble...first complete pass through the grid with no clues or help leaves 63 words to find.
not a bad idea, to use it for fitness purposes...might hafta look into that + try to talk the roommie into guying other games. :)
sorry didn
morning, angel
sorry didn't see that someone just asked for it
crikey, angel! ive been at it for a while now, and i still have 233 left!
i'm down to 181
and i found 63 my first pass, rather than having that many left.
anyone have a clue for re7/44?
ca 11 and ca10 please
:) the dog is dreaming and sort of barking
ca 10/11, a sore and wo4/9 plus plural
I guess everyone is without the re7/44.
Unbelievable isn't it
thanks a lot
my re words are very sparse, sorry
yw, jpc
What is the matter with us? Are we a bunch of dummies?
Marc, the best way to clue it is the polite way of saying the bathro**
I will now make another stab at the re's\
Nope, that wasn't it, either. Sorry!
the re 7 is before the bath and after the relaxiation word, cant find it anyw here
ill take it, though, scarlet -- thanks!
:-)
re7/44 is what you do to a fire in a fireplace.
hi, scarlet. :)
That has started to go out
ooooh thanks
Yay, hootowl!
yw - thanks for the ca!
Hi, dc...;-)... thank you hoot!
morning, ? all
yw
Hoot, that just gave me four more words... Muchas gracias!\
Wow thanks but I did not get any of those clues I have the relaxation word the re4 and the re6/21 is one who is mentally ill, which I feel like right now and in between is the re7/44 and the re/8 which I figured would be the pl.
ywywyw bowing
*muted applause* It's too early to get rowdy, hoot... :-=)
finally go the re7 thank hoot but the re8 is not the pl
marc, a re**** is not mentally ill but rather is very low i.q. just fyi
public re8, like in a restaurant.
That eight is the bath***, Marc
ertarder
re8 = loo
well fannieg I feel like both
ty!
I've always thought of the re6 as something to control the growth of mold...
Wow am I thick got it. Thanks all
anyone have that re 8?
Arrggghhh... I whipped out 220 words and now must make a very strong pot of coffee now! Will be right back. Good, Marc!! :-)
drank
nuts!
fannie, there's a wealth of clues for it below in the chat.
LOL...
LOL :D
phantom: skewer
Wow... I am going to make a strong pot... Bad! It is the COFFEE that will be strong. Into the penalty corner for hideous usage of our language. :9
oh it is the re 7 i need. i have the re 8 ............and it was what you do to a fire but what is that?
rhymes with po** you in the eye, fannie
st5/18 is what
got it. thanks all. didnt know it was a real word.
fan - EVERYTHING is a word in babble!
everything youve never heard of anyway...the things you EXPECT to see in the grid will turn out not to be real words. ;)
so true, EvaN
I monkeyed some crazy W words earlier and sat in awe that they were actual words...LOL
re8/65 please??
middle wo6/30 blew my mind
Exactly! LOL, dc... I was shocked! The WA words were beauties to behold, too.
re8/45 public loo
nm found it
yes they were, scarlet
oh, sorry wrong one.
:-)
would love a clue for wo 6/30 please. i have not had luck with is.
WO6 = to decline in quality. "i went to the hospital, and Bob's condition is WO****ing."
ty got the 5 and the 6.
The other ending is not any better, either, then the first five letters ending with I be* you will get it.
thanks scarlet -- didnt have that one. was wondering why you both thought it was so odd...heh...but yours definitely is!
It's a gagger, Eva!
You will never learn proper english from babble!
I'm getting that one, hootie... it confounds me every day, but I am learning, slowly, some really fun Scottish words...l
Actually never quite sure it's proper anything sometimes
Ahem... the wo6/30 that ends in the alien who wanted to 'phone home is a type of cloth.
Scot words are a blast!
Clothe should be spelled with a d!
It's the one above that that is so harsh to American English speakers, Jacla.
*Jacula*
Well I have 180 to go and I have to go to work, thanks for all the clues
Actually, it's a Norfolk words, hoot.:)
"Bye, Marc.
*or even a word. LOL
Hi Jac - I'm sure it is>:D
makers
Good afternoon all.. a little grid yesterday and now this!!
under 200 to go... as far as im concerned, im already done...any words i find from here on out are icing on the cake...hah
Scarlet - I agree about the word before the cloth. Only children and the uneducated would use that form of the word.
Hi, caitlyn... notice I'm getting in here fast before you start stomping your feel!
*feet*
double nuts!
LOL Scarlet!!
Right, Jacula! What's wrong, hootie?
personally i feel whatever this dictionary is, no english teacher or educated person would use many of these words.
really? you guys dont think that WO6 is normal? ive certainly heard it used, and by well-educated people... *shrug*
The one word I fell in love with was "nunatak", and we laughed about it for weeks...
hi guys, is it fast or slow? or in between,
wrote another word into chat! I really can't handle doing both!!!
Hi, harp... fast and fun!
Hoot there are so many words its hard to avoid doing that
okie dokie, here I come....
Into the drink....
ah, Scarlet, the bare mountaintop. Nice word! Sounds like a film Whoopi Goldberg might be in.:)
LOL... exactly... rampaging Sisters of Mercy careening though the villages...
LOL, Scarlet. I see your imagination is as wild as my own.
And, Jacula, I believe that it is a special blessing! :-)
Indeed it is.... mostly.:)
Coffee calls me for a few moments... will return anon.
'Bye, Scarlet. I'm here on a teabreak.
ciao, scarlet
I should be doing the painting...Babble wins everytime !!
ok 399 to go, off to wor!
off to work!
njoy, harhjane.
Bye harp
See you later, harp.

5 9's
pab - there are 5x 9s.
pab there are 5 9 letter words
And 12 8 letter ones
...and 28 7-letters ones.
thanks Eva, Jacula and cait, how is it possible to have 256 words and not one 9
i have 230 and none of the 9s yet...heh

:P
LOL
I'm talking rubbish (well, more so than normal) - I have 4 of the 9s. *sigh*
i've been working at this off and on for 10 hours, so they were hard won.
67f
cot on keyboard, sorry
cat
cot!!
Cot or cat?
LOL
ah, that explains it, i've only been at this for about 2 hours
Only another 8 to gothen pab
Well, I've heard of cossetting your pets but having a cat in a cot on your keyboard is taking things a little too far. :D
well before that happens, i'll go to the list
i have a rabbit with its own bedroom, too.
LOL Jac
LOL Jacula
i like how the blue LEDs on the keyboard reflect purplish off the white parts of the cat.
Very, erm, artistic, dc.
9s: ar;da;da;ra;wa
Hi, dc... do you have the plural of the rabbit's room designers?
yes
ca 10 & 11
Too funny. Good morning, BR-r.
BabbleRabble - thanks. That just gave me ra9, my last 9.
hello, Red
i could use a hint for the to5/12, pls
:-)
yeah forJac!
to plus opposite of lady
ty, caitlyn
t/y, cait. I needed that, too.
YW
Thank you, caitlyn.
Fireworks! 428 words, 7417 points. whew.
Well done, Angelsong!
Well done, Angel!
YAY Angel!
Congrats Angel!!!!!!!
Congratulations Angelsong - and hello to everyone again.
Hi Haz
I was just being "creative" and monkeyed a silly to5/18 word... sounds Swedish or Scandanavian. Hi there, Haz!
Okay. Teabreak's over. Time to make moussaka. BBL for my final 80. (Hi & 'bye for now, Haz.)
Until later, Jacula.
mmmm... mousaka. Later, jacula
Bye Jac see you later
Bye Jacula - maybe see you later.
Hello. Quick question: is the ca10 more like the ca7 preceding it or more like the ca4 following it?
The prior.
based on the 6 preceding it.
Thanks! I think I see where I was going wrong now.
Hee. ca6/33 + tw4/8 may not be a real compound word, but it's a great insult.
Got to get chicken casserole in oven...bbl..bye
oddly, it's both, if i recall from much earlier chat
okay, i must sleep a tad, so off to feed cats and sleep . Hasta luego.
HELP WITH THE At 9/54 PLEASE
See you, dc.
Until later, dc. Rest well.
How are you, Haz? Isn't this a lovely grid?
ar9/54 - puts a picnic pest on the the of the ar6/18. The one who puts into custody?
It's a great grid, Scarlet, I agree.
Thank you for that ar9, Haz.
You're welcome - as always!
looking for the at 9/54
haz what is this picnic pest ar???????? i am very confused by that clue. must be dull today. i have ar 6/18
nevermind
at9/54 doesn't exist.
just got the ar9. funny one
ar6/18 - meaning to stop or put into custody. The picnic pest is shorthand cluing for the insect that sounds like your mother or father's sister.
st
Hello Frances.
Hi Haz. I think I just nodded off onto the keyboard. Hence the 'st'.
Ah, I wondered if it was code of some sort.
Good morning, Frances.
No just shock at seeing 428 words.
Hello Red
:-)
It's big, but the grid is fun, Frances.
I'll take your word for that Haz.
Frances, Frances, you should know me by now.....
.....exactly Haz. LOL.
LOL, Haz and Frances...
We're both smiling!
And, winking, too!
Grinning from ear to ear......or should that be gurning from ear to ear.
Oh no, don't pull faces, Frances. I promise you, you'll enjoy it.
I had the most diabolical thought the other day: what if a grid were to start all its words with the same two letters? Say, a 150-word grid... wouldn't that be the challenge of an age?
Woo Hoo! huge one today! How are you guys finding it?
HI, TS... fun!
bite your tongue, scarlet! id go nutty!
Lol, I'd say so, Scarlet
Hello Takuma. I'm just debating whether to shoot Scarlet or not.
But, but... Eva... don't you like me anymore! LOL, TS
It's a great grid, you'll enjoy it.
Now that is a thought Red.
I'd have to guess that is impossible, scarlet
;)
Up against the stone wall, no blindfold, and one last cigarette, first, Haz!
By the way, forgive my bad manners. I forgot to say hello to everyone.
I played around with writing grid-generators a couple years ago, and I think there may not be a 150-word grid starting with just two tiles
Something like that. But with the no smoking policies these days you might have to forego the cigarette.
Just in case you pollute the atmosphere.
(there are those chocolate-candy cigarettes -- substitute those?)
But surely out in the open you can smoke.
Of course... that's the utmost consideration before my execution..
I suppose so. An open air execution would be of advantage to the tobacco addicted.
At the weekend I saw someone 'smoking' an electronic cigarette.....weird.
I've heard of those, Frances. poor sot replacing tobacco damage with EMF damage...
WHAT?
How did it work? Non-technical explanation preferred.
The EMFs have already had their way with us, TS
heh, but we don't often spend a lot of time with EMF generators inserted into our heads ;)
save earphones, I guess
Battery operated and I think has nicotine in it somewhere and vapour. As I said, weird.
That is too strange for me to weigh this morning...
It sounds like something you'd find advertised in the Sunday supplements. You know, the sort of things nobody needs nor wants but someone has invented it and thinks it should be sold.
That is right up there with pet rocks and plastic flowers...
Oh, yes, Haz!
And singing plastic fish.
Yes, the country-music twanging Bass on a Plaquard... I must have one.
You get them too, Scarlet? Nasal hair always seems to be a prime target.
Just looked it up on ebay.
And the ongoing challenge of dicing one's vegetables correctly...
And keeping things clean.
quote: The ElectroCig works from a micro circuit controlled atomiser and a nicotine cartridge. The nicotine is not burnt, it’s atomised into an odourless gas that looks and tastes like smoke but is not smoke. No heat, flame or smoke, no yellow fingers/teeth, stinking ashtrays/cars/apartments or clothes. When you draw on th filter it feels just like a cigarette, and you inhale it just as you would with a conventional cigarette but when you exhale there is a little nictone/water vapour fume that is emitted which gives the feeling of real smoking but is not really smoke so it's perfectly legal. It glows like a real cigarette at the end when you inhale but is not alight and it runs on a 4.7V lithium rechargeable battery.
don't make fun. some of us need help with the veg chopping
Endless ways to keep things clean.
I have the scars to prove it
hi everybody.. sorry to miss out on the fun chat.. have to go very soon, but wanted to stop in and say hello first.. hubby is chomping at the bit to get out of here.. shopping to do etc. Hope to see some of you later when I return ..
Bye Aloy - how was the hairdo, by the way?
Hello and goodbye Aloy
ciao Aloy -- wow, seems like it'd be a rare husband who chomps at the bit to go shopping ;)
Aloy! *Hugs to the new member of the grandmother cluub* You will be traveling soon... be save and hug that new baby to your bosom!
*safe*
Just what I was thinking TS
ok.. bye.. the hairdo is SHORt.. and she used elec razor despite my aversion to it (i prefer scissors) so as a result, I have lots of stick-em-ups.. lol.. see you guys later.. (-:
Now, Takuma... about those veggie wars... may I ask how that happened.
There's one hairdresser who won't see Aloy again...
You're spiky now, Aloy!
Bye for now, Aloy!
Later, Aloy! I'll be here...
ah, very sharp knife, very long limbs, very short attention span, scarlet
You poor man, Takuma... I had to succumb to a bagle sllicer... it looks like a v-shaped guillotine with a protective plastic sleeve... I won't go into details..
bagel I cannot type this morning.
ah, I've seen those. I can't picture how to injure yourself with one, but I believe you ;)
I believe my keying skills have all been used on the grid...
There's bound to be a product to help.
No, TS, I had to buy one because of a bagel incident...
Someone MUST have invented something.
Ah! I read "succumb" the other way... ;P
LOL.... very funny, TS
Thank you Babblers. I got fireworks and loved the video of the fiddler. My last word happened to be the synonym for intelligent, sm 5. Had I used that earlier, I would have finished sooner. hehe
cognacs, inge!
Hello inge. Congratulations!
Hello inge, and congratulations!
takuma, are you Japaniese?
*Japanese
Because I would certainly describe my incidents as succumbing to an unfriendly Global Santoku
Hello everyone
nope, inge. my username is that of a Japanese Formula 1 driver
Hello peri!
hiya, peri. ('cognacs' was a typo I made once, and I sort of liked it, so it stuck)
Hello peri! ;-) I must make lunch for my beloved... and I just found out we have no water in the neighborhood... work down the road from the utility and no prior warning! Erch.
thanks Takuma, my real Japanese friend is Kotaro Fukuma, an excellent pianist.
See you later, Scarlet.
Off to sudoku
ciao, inge
Bye inge.
Exactly half way. Must get something to eat. Back soon.
See you later Frances. That wasn't so bad, was it?
hello everyone :)

da8/65 - a native of Denmark with a poorly spelt skin condition? - then plural
da8/65 - extend the one who makes things gloomy (da6/33)

Anyway, I should head into the kitchen to get the evening meal under way. I hope the clues help, peri. Back later!

*poof*
Sorry to hear you are in pain flosey ..perhaps the grid will take your mind of itLOL
thanks cait, the pill seemed to work
anyone know how many words today?
428 pet
428 pete
flosey - dont forget my Mum had hip replacement at 87 years and was up and active as ever within 6 weeks - still says wishes she had done it earlier - dont know if you have same sort of problem
179 of them are 4 letter words
thanks caitlyn. I guess I'm not doing as well as I thought
Hi ursh
haven't looked into that ursh but Dr. has suggested exrays - will keep that in mind and thankyou
LOL pete keep at it.it is do able
Flosey - helenkeller (babbler) encouraged us via email to look into the new hip surgery which we did and magic was performed
will do that ursh - have been trying chiropractic - it worked several years ago when it was sciatic related pain but this time doesn't seem to be quite the same
just in the hope of avoiding possible surgery - however will certainly look into it
Does heat help flosey?
I sometimes use linament but doesn
doesn't seem to work
sorry, often when I aim for apostrophe, I hit enter by mistake
fingers getting clumsy

Hi, t&t... how are you feeling? The baby is soon, isn't he/she?
due in 2 weeks.... He is making me impatient
I'm feeling good.
Perhaps you wont have to wait the 2 weeks
I am very glad to hear that, t&t... the last two weeks are the longest period of the term...
LOL, cait... so right.
I can't seem to get the ad word, any clues please?

Thank you, cait.
YW

abrev. of grandson's name!!
:-) Nice, flosey.
LOL
I always worry about giving clues as I cant come up with the clever ones like others do! So am pleased when they work
nor I caitlyn, I so often just can't think fast enough to give them
but still try when the clever ones aren't around
lol
I never have any trouble when you and cait clue, flosey...
Thanks Scarlet
They are members of the Clever Clues Clan. Try saying that without your teeth in.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a clue for the AR6/30? Please and thankyou. Hello there, Haz.
lol Haz, and here we have one of the best
ar6/30 - Begin with Noah's ship, end with the last three letters of a flower.
that's where I'm working scarlet, don't have it
*flops* back. just had lovely walk in the pre-sunset hour
Hello to all!
great one Haz - as usual
You're welcome.
never would have tried that
I've got my clothes out on the line getting a pre-sunset whizz around in the wind.
Thank you, Haz! Another excellent clue, as per usual.
Hi Ata and bye..time to cook..hope you feel better soon flosey ..bye
Later, caitlyn. Thank you for the clues!
thanks cait, bye for now
Glad to help, Scarlet. See you later, caitlyn.
Hello, Atalante. Was the pre-sunset beautiful?
love it when we can put the clothes on the line - they smell so much fresher than out of the dryer
it was really beautiful. very peaceful and golden
And it's so much cheaper, flosey, our electricity costs are very high.
that too
We are not permitted to put up a clothesline here, but I am using the sun for "rack-drying" as much as possible.
Ata... that is such a gift... to be able to "see" what others are too enmeshed to observe.
Not permitted to put up a clothesline? How sad! I love hanging washing out.
I know! That fragrance is unlike any other...
we're lucky to be out of sight of our neighbours so no problem there - but we do have to lock up when not home
what would happen if you did put up a clothes line in rebelliuos defiance?
usually pretty safe here but every once in a while we've had unwelcome 'visitors'
Would the wiccans not join in the protest?
Laundry wars. I see the headlines.
my daughter had her clothesline stripped one night - just married so all new bedding, etc
Fight for your Right to Hang!
okay gonna take a break. back later
later toad
So as well as remembering never to go to bed angry, you have to remember to bring in all your underpinnings.
The doctor who owns this property has been so good to us... she had central air conditioning installed as soon as she knew that beloved has Parkinson's... I just think she wants the neighborhood to be as pristine a "nature reserve" as possible. Haz, you are more right than you know. We have three wicca lliving nearby! LOL
but one would think the conservation of hydro might be an issue
I do miss the sight of white nappies on washing lines. Everyone's into disposables now, but there's something terribly satisfying about their whiteness.
Flosey, that is so logical...
And the fragrance of fresh diapers... I loved doing that wash when the children were babies...
how well I remember Haz - middle of winter, bringing in huge white frozen nappies! but they smelled so good
oh dear, i have a vision of people worldwide going round sniffing nappies now
Isn't it funny the things you treasure. I remember the frozen nappies as well. I stubbornlyrefused to give in to disposables so remember the whole thing.
Howdy, all. Huge one today! Stuck on the ak's - clue pls?
Clean nappies, Atalante, clean ones.
they weren't around for me but my grandson had them
ak5/18 - a plus a reworking of the eager mustard word.
Then plural for ak6/30
thank goodness for that!
Disposables may be convenient, but who'll be reminiscing about them in 20 year's time?
Eager mustard? Hmmm. Gonna turn it over in my brain for while - thx Haz
The landfills, Haz...the breakdown time for the plastics is inestimal.
It's a word beginning with k, associated with mustard (at least in Britain) and meaning eager.
That's what I fear, Scarlet. They're going to be around for ever.
Finally, there are some entire cities which have banned the use of plastic grocery bags; eliminated the use of styrofoam cups and containers; as well as having eliminated bottled water entirely!
agree Haz and Scarlet re landfill - but not for mother-in-law to interfere
Okay, got it - the mustard allusion went by me - must be a British thang :)
Some stores here are beginning to penalise people for using plastic bags, and plastic bags are banned in the south of Ireland.
It's an expression : **** as mustard
Mothers-in-law must abide by the rule of silence.
Sorry, Tina - hard to know when things will translate!
yes, especially since we have such a great relationship - and have only the one grandchild
Plastic bags are recycleable; I've been recycling mine for years
We will not regret not having intruded with our opinions, flosey... but I have to admit, sometimes I do stew a bit.
silence? gosh you never met mine haz lol
no I have to admit mines not to bad. I have at least escaped having to go shopping with her. I am a girl who hates to shop
oh yes, do that - lol g&j - I had a real dilly
Likewise, g&j.
That's okay - I'm actually very pleased to know it.
mine is dead. very easy to deal with. but she was very lovely when alive
she never once smiled at me!
How fortunate for you, Atalante.
I was fortunate in my mother-in-law. She adored her son and reckoned he had to have good taste. I'm so glad!
afternoon babblers! i dont yet have a MIL, but my BFs mom seems quite nice. :)
how lucky you are Haz
Good afternoon, EvaNadine.
Gary thinks I am very much like his mother in the way we think alike. Not sure if that is a compliment or not lol
either way julie, as long as it works
Hello, EvaN.
It was quite funny - she maintained her partiality all through our married life until she died.
Hi all
I must get out to the kitchen - a bit of cleaning up to do, hubby made dinner last night
Until later, flosey.
that was sweet of him flosey
She was often ill and I used to take flowers to her (arranged) when she was in hospital. Apparently, one of the last times she landed in hospital, she looked around at the flowers and said 'These will pale into insignificance when Hazel brings her flowers'. What a woman!
he is a real sweetie julie - but I do believe he used every pot in the house
hmmm can I get to 100 left before getting the list?
awwwww haz
good luck Ata - you can do it
I went to the list at 180, Ata.
Just to sicken your happiness, Atalante, Angelsong got to 63 left on her first sweep.
course you can! I am at 267 to go and seeing some really obvious ones I missed earlier
But get the list. Life's too short.
*giggles to self* im so used to thinking of you as Haz, that i was like "who is Hazel??"
she would!
very sensible, scarlet. I'm just being stubborn
'Tis I, Eva'
I like that name Hazel, we don't hear it anymore
What a lovely memory, Haz.
like Florence - we've old names?
It's not that common over here, but not so peculiar as to be strange....
I saw a check out girl with that name in hobbycraft on Saturday
my nan was a florence, used to get annoyed if she got called flo
My daughter's middle name is Gabriella... I named her for the archangel.
it's pretty scarlet
I like the old-fashioned feminine names - they're definitely making a comeback.
My one grandmother was named Elizabeth, but went by Hildy. (not sure where that came from!) My other grandmother was named Bessie. (but not short for Elizabeth!) My mom's name is Yvonne, but everyone calls her Liz. (Thank my dad for that one!)
And, of course, her friends call her Gabi.
think I've had just about every way one can call it - grew up with Lolo!! because they couldn't pronounce florence
Thank you, g&j.
my daughter is called Leanne, she either goes by Lily, la la or tink!
I was just going to say, hopefully she (Gabriella) gets the full name, but it would seem not.
My little sisters could not say Bobbie, so they called me Baba... now my grandchildren call me that. I love it!
I love Leanne
anyway, this isn't cleaning up my kitchen!! bye for now
That's so cute Scarlet!
My son can't say Grammie Kathy so he calls my MIL gran taffy
Bye flosey. Nice to see you again.
:-) Thank you, Tina.
i think my parents merely tolerate me calling myself Sam -- but Samantha is such a mouthful!
by flosey take care
Until another time, flosey.
I like old-fashioned names too - my daughter's name is Annabella Jewel
I really regretted giving my son 3 names because it's such a mouthful to say all 3 and a surname when he is naughty
bye flosey
You mean, you're not EvaNadine? We'll have to get used to our real identities!
Tina, that is a lovely name...
i have instructed my kitchen to clean itself. I'll give it another 15 minutes to do so. :)
heh -- Eva Nadine is the name i decided back when i was like 12 that i would name my first daughter... all these years later, i still love the name Eva! (but have decided to change the Nadine part...)
*takes off cape and emerald tiara* Okay, Haz, there you go, popping my balloon!
That sounds like a product that could sell. A self-cleaning kitchen.
Thank you scarlet - we agonized over her name. Mark wanted to name her Annabelle Pepper but I just couldn't deal with it being so cartoon-y
Can I borrow your emerald tiara, Scarlet? It's my birthstone.
I heard this morning of a couple who has just welcomed their first child. Being Chicago Cubs' fans, they named the little boy, Wrigley! I laughed so hard.
another taurus haz?
hi everyone
hi saphyre
Yes, gandj, a May baby.
But certainly, Haz. I am stuck with the blue sapphire... I'd much prefer the emerald birthstone.
I've pretty much decided that my first-born will either be Eva Marcelle (my dads middle name is Marcel) or Evan Wylie (Wylie is my moms maiden name. just one though, not both. and the other name i really love is Genevieve, which i later found out was my moms real moms name! (i never met her, since she passed when my mom was about 16)
Hello saphyre!
LOL Scarlet my mate no word of a lie has the last name Murphy and called her soon Paddy.
Oh, that is kind. I shall wear it babbling, always.
Hi, saphyre.
Wrigley Fields, if i read it correctly, Scarlet. ;)
You are a blonde, Haz... your coloring will carry it much more richly than mine. *Carefully hands over emerald tiara*
That's right, Eva. The family's last name is Fields.~!
Thank you so much!
I'm May the first, may day
Snap, gandj.
OH, g&j... too darned funny!
My best friends married last name is Hitchings, and they joked that they would name their kids Truck and Trailer...hah
1558 refers to my date of birth, not the year, you understand.
Wow what are the odds, my BIL same date to
we believe you. millions wouldn't
Hahhahahhhaaaaa
i LOVE the name Wiley, evanadine - great, great name
i do love my mothers name: Yvonne Dorothy. sounds so regal, dontcha think?
Incidentally, I do know a man named Truck Van Carr. For real. Sigh, he's a Texan of course
*gasps*
Yes, your mother's name is very beautiful and formal-sounding.
i thought it was odd that i knew a girl named Jasmine Jett and a guy named James James (cruelty of adoption, that last one)
(Do we send to the penalty box when it's a capitalized word?)
think we should. standards and all that
Seriously: the most 'wait a minute' name I ever heard is Gajda Heinie. True.
I also know a girl named Caprice Capri, not as bad as James James
*LMAO* thats fab, scarlet!
I thought so, just didn't want to be too harsh without considering other points of view.
Heehee - Gajda Heinie. There is a woman on my mama's board whose grandmother's name was (drum roll):
I know someone called Kriss Cross
:-)

Lovely Pink Johnson

That's with worst one I have EVER heard
oh, dear, tina!
Morning Babblers! This is a BIG one, so I got my BIG cup of coffee and ready to go!!
i know theres a gentleman in my building named Richard B. Hung
We had a big long thread about strange names in our families. That one won hands down
I keep seeing the pantom toast of all things
On your marks, Harmony....
morning harmony, dive right in
first ar6/18 please
Hello, Harmony... I may only wish that you are what you are called... this is a fun grid!
phantom even
i also dated a guy in HS whose last name was Head and his uncles name was Richard. utterly unfortunate...
Absolutely, Scarlet!
ar6/18 - add a heated argument or diatribe.
Eva thanks for my laugh of the day!
Ooh, eva - I would be unable to have a straight face to speak to the man in your building; I did know a family with the surname head who named a son Peter - guess people just don't think
Then have at it, Harmony!
thanks Haz
I started this grid last night, I didn't want to stop but I needed sleep.
You're welcome, pabtrek.
i just wonder if people dont think!! how mean do you have to be??
Okay here i go. see ya!!
hi, stopping by for my afternoon Babble break
Should the registrar of births not have the power to refuse to register some names?
OMG! I've been babbling for over 2 years now and haven't felt the need to intrude until now...my maiden name is heiny...may first name is sharon LOL yeah parenets can have wicked senses of humore, that's for sure!
Hello BDG.
you have to be careful with the initials to. my daughters are LC and she refuses to say them together incase people think I called her Elsie
Hi, skheiny... welcome to the madness...
hi BDG :o)
You've been babbling for two years and you haven't said hello?! We could be offended.
Haz, they do over here - it may be up to the state but I have seen news articles about names being refused
howdya dooin julie?
thanks, no offense, just hard to keep up and do the puzzle at the same time ;-)
Hi, Book!
Hey there, skheiny! welcome ! (smile)
It's good to know that some states have sense. I reckon some people have to be saved from themselves.
We do it all the time, skh... and look at us: fine, shining examples of multitaskers!
not to bad thanks gwen. my youngest had his first full day of school today.
dang sharon - that IS rough
how are you ?
you have no idea LOL
We'll not hold it against you, sk, we'll just bear in mind that you may be lurking....
how is sharon heiny bad? am I missing something??!
speaking of the parental sense of humor... my grandson is maxwell cox... oh, I'm gonna love it when he starts school... *shakes head*
sharin' heiny
I lurk a lot or I wouldnt get much done, with this many words and it being a monday I will never finish.
Oh, poor skh.
wow. now there's a grid.

428 swa
428... breath deeply, swa
428
There are 428 today.
(!) wishing good luck you your new schoolchild. school was horrifying, at least from my POV
*breathe*
Ata-- heiny is another word for rear end. ;)
And have a chair handy.

Hello cybernan.
i know karyn, it's cuh-razy!
hi nan
Back. When my granddaughter started school (half days) she asked her teacher why she couldn't stay all day as she could learn so much more. No answer to that. She adores school.
a 5yo charmer? eegad LOL
Good afternoon, nan!
only have 4 k's -- don't know where or what the others could possibly be!!!!
so cute frances. These kids certainly are sharper these days
The k words are peculiar.
I thought they must be haz -- monkeys working furiously
You can say that again g&j.
my monkey have only found 3 Ks so far...heh
Let me know if you want any hints on the k words.
hint away -- finding them is only luck!
There are five ka words.
There are three ke words.
have 3 ka's, ke and ko
ka's are all common words
I have "creatively" typed, as Haz would say (the Irish lady does not employ monkeys) 11 of the 14 K words...
hello all, 54 left - tough grid
There are three kn words.
Hello there, KnightTime!
And three ko words.
woo hoo found a 9
bleh, kitchen obviously needs more training in cleaning itself - back later ya'll
ok -- got the kn's
which one gwen? I have one to, just the one though
ka5/18 - the Australian jumper is missing his middle section.
ka5/18 -there are two of these, anagrams of each other.
got it! -- strange one
Thank you, Haz for the ka5/18... I wasn't creative enough to find that one on my own.
The ke words are variations on a them of sea eagles.
rasta ? !
It's really sad when you're 147 words in and haven't even made a dent!
But, it's progress, redshoes!
only 2 ke's?
There are three, just keep adding to ke4/8
lucky you redshoes, Im only on 85 words
thanks haz. =)
are all the ko words 4 letters?
You're welcome.
Yes, Ata, and I only have the first one.
Yes, all ko4.
Yep, all ko are four letters
phantom: resoom LOL
keep missing those plurals!
Found another...
just missing the anagram ka's now
cybernan, the anagram ones relate to vehicles.
first ma6/24 please
oh -- I have those -- must be missing something else!
Found the last one.
ma6/24 - Begin with Miss West, finish with Mr Quayle, backwards.
any clues on the ar 9,54?
have ka x5, ke x3, kn c3, ko -- missing?
Thank you again, Haz.
KT - use the ar6/18 relating to the police power and add a picnic pest
ar 9: the police apprehended the picnic pest?
I'm missing the first ka5/18, any clues please
100 left!
ty cyber
122... we're on track, Ata.
ka5/18 - the Australian jumper is missing his mid-section.
To the list, Atalante,to the list.
now I'm getting the list! yup!
how many ka 5's, haz?
haz.... by miss west do u mean the woman whose name rhymes with the month
English needs a word that ends in -enk !!
Yes, that's right. Two vowels used in her name.
There are five ka words.
no idea, who is the Australian jumper
ty haz
It's an animal, flosey.
okay so then the quayle do u mean like the insect that comes in your house to eat all your food?
am missing 2 ar6 words. have the police one
oh, dumb dumb!
still missing 2 ka 5's then -- think it's time for the list!
No, Mr Quayle of VIce-President potatoe fame.
i have no idea who that is!
Or infamy, perhaps.
LOL... oh, Haz, you never fail me../
arset = the proper term for a group of arses LOL
It's an anagram of a conjunction, or a shortened form of a Biblical prophet associated with lions.
got it! thanks
:)
thanks Haz, got distracted
Glad you liked it, Scarlet!
:-)
thanks Haz, finally!
Glad you got there, flosey!
that ea7,48 does not sound pleasant
It doesn't does it?
indeed KT, makes one squirm
Hmmm... a wee clue, perhaps on the nasty ea7 word, please?
ad 6?
a bug in your ea*
ad6 - ad plus a reworking of the volcano.
EA7-8 combo: slimy creatures in your hearing orifice
ea7 compound, hearing organ + crawly invertebrate
ty haz
Errch... thank you Knight and Book and EvaN.
You're welcome, cybernan.
Aren't you glad you asked, Scarlet?
And are we all scratching said orifice?
No. I am appalled and happy at once... Oh, the weird world of Babble!
speaking of things that arent at LL icky, check this out! http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/t ol/life_and_style/travel/article250507 8.ece
no, we're cringing at memories of The Wrath of Khan
okay, have 200+, back to "real" work ha ha ha *poof*
I'll have to look up Wrath of Khan. I obviously don't get out enough.
And we have the lovely ca10 and 11 to add to the cringe factor... what a grid!
oh, it was a star trek film, where the beasties in question were put down people's ea**
clues for the ca10 and 11 please|??? :0)
Star Trek. I might have known.
am still missing one ar6. have ar6/30 & ar6/18. Can anyone help?
And what's even more despicable, words to do with needles and thread, Scarlet.
CA6/33 + wo4/9 and then plural.
which would be ickier though, EA7 or RE8 (thought the RE8 isnt a real word...heh)
ar6/18 - ar plus what an angry person does.
LOL, Haz... you will never overcome that dislike, will you!?
Never, Scarlet.
ak 6?
ak6 - a plural for ak5/18
ty
You know how you sometimes realise, mid-dream, that you're dreaming? I knew I was dreaming when I got upset that people wouldn't sell be a cross-stitch kit.
sell *me.
It is time for a bowl of ice cream to help the brain cells get over the next 119. LOL, Haz... why on earth are you dreaming of cross-stitch kits?
thanks
question is haz, do you cross stitch?
no, she gets cross at stitches
*Waiting for the retort*
She stitches crossly if pressured!
I was taking anti-malarial tablets at the time. Seriously.
Evening :)
Hello FMitch!
Hello FMitch! Just in time to deal with Haz's aversions!
not getting that angry person clue for ar6/18
Are you traveling soon, Haz?
I was cross because I had seen it in the window of the shop, it had my name on it, but the people in the shop wouldn't sell it to me. It had pictures of an elephant on it.
This was last year, Scarlet, when we were on holiday in Kenya.
ar6/18 - ar plus the counterpart to rave (as in angry tirade)
Scarlet the only travelling Haz will be doing will be accompanied by men in white coats is we pressure her too much with talk of stitchery :)
The pink and white pills can only do so much.
ty Haz
ar 6/30?
You're welcome, Mary.
oh, another one should have been obvious!! thanks lHaz
ar6/30 - begin with Noah's ship, end with the last three letters of a flower.
just kept going the wrong way
ty haz -- had the beginning, but not the end
It's okay, flosey, you're taking medication, let that be your excuse.
You're welcome, cybernan.
last re, the re 7,44 before where one relieves themselves
re7/44 - get that furnace going
LOL, FM... had to create a bowl of heaven...was away for a few moments.
which flower?
The flower - also used as a woman's name. (JFK's mother)
ty hz
ty haz
... and what might be in the bowl of heaven dear Scarlet?
thanks haz
I really must discover who JFKs mother was
You're welcome.
The flower which by any other name would smell as sweet, Atalante.
A **** by any other name, Ata
(Tossing in ra6/24 facts to keep you interested!)
FM, it is a dish of homemade peach ice cream, with a dollop of chocolate alongside, some whipped cream, some caramel syrup and a maraschino cherry!
Homemade ice-cream. And she taunts us with it.
oh, thanks for that one Haz
:-)
Back shortly!
Is is SOOO not fair HAz, make her stop purllleeeese

ad 6/21 please
How do I put pics up FMitch?
usually take me a good 2-3 hours to do a 150 words or thereabouts.
You have to set up a flikr account Ren, I did it ages ago but couldn't say how I did it now. Can hubby help perhaps?
Actually I only have 1 picture of me at the moment so I can upload that one to replace my son, I will be in the red

Hi, Krista... it's a fun grid today.
Hi Krista
Hi Krista.
Hi Krista, lots of people returning to the babble fold now that summer is waning.

bbl
Oh, peri... you hardly stayed a second!
Hi and bye peri

Yay - exactly half way through! Now I'm getting stuck. I think I've found all the obvious ones.
I am the one in the red and was Bridesmaid and my son Daniel was Page Boy... I have now set up a flickr account so maybe I will post some more
Great, you know how us babblers are for looking at photos :)
Krista, sometimes you just have to be good to yourself!
That red dress has a nice straight top... the type I like... not too daring, but very feminine.
first ma 7?
Scarlet I give up, I am going to have to go to the kitchen and see what I can find as I am now craving something sweet and certainly don't have h/m peach ice cream *stifled sob*
There, there, FM... I'll send some through the cyber-taster as soon as possible... Azimov would have created some machine for us, I know...

Here's my three-dollar contribution, Krista./
Thanks Scarlet, I really like that dress too
I mean S words, pabtrek.
Your coloring and that dress shade do complement one another, ren.
Now - why won't it take a good honest geordie word like skran - meaning food!
Sandie, what is "geordie"?
Right Eastenders is on, so see you all later, have fun
first ma 7, please?
Newcastle, right?
It's a person who lives in the north-east of England around the Newcastle-upon-Tyne area.

ty pab

Babble is always an education! LOL.
Hub is English - he has educated me on all the accents, since I like that kind of thing.
Yup there are a LOT of regional accents in the UK. Some harder on the ears than others!
The same in the U.S.A. And, some of them defy description, OR interpretation! LOL
ma 7 following monk's song?
True, Sandie! It is funny to Patrick when American TV puts subtitles on English speakers (the band Oasis, from Manchester, comes to mind).
My son's girlfriend was here from California over the summer and she was quite bemused by some of the things we said and called things.
ma 7 -- in the direction of a male
my parents are both english...theyve lived in the states for 40+ years, but when we go back to england, i cant understand half of what they say!
I've never been,Eva..can't wait to go.
ty b-rabble
Poor Caryn just happened to come over here when we were having the WORST summer in living memory. She had a rough time with the weather but liked the hostory.

Scarlet I'm back with my concoction: Fresh peach, slice thickly, into dessert bowl, tbsp water, mucovado sugar, into micro 2 mins and top with greek yoghurt and sprinkle of cinnamon!
yum!
the effect of the sun on skin may allow the sun to be called a da 8
Perfection, FM... the next time I need inspiration for the sweet tooth, you will be my first contact! Oh, enjoy, enjoy!
She stayed in one of the Most Haunted locations up here. It was the Schooner Hotel. The ghosts were a no show though!!!! LOL.
*big grin*

I still have four eight-letter words to find, and my monkeys have been wonderful today, to say nothing of great clues along the way!
We are of a kind, Aloy... I have never enjoyed it and probably never will... even food shopping, and I love to cook.
monkeys are definitely working overtime on this grid, double time for the monkeys or they come out on strike.
ah well, Scarlet.. we need some personal assistants.. (lol).
*Offers huge hands of bananas to frogface's monkey team!"
... so we can spend more time on important things like babbling!
I know, Aloy... the non-joy of stores... :9

Add the wiggly bait to your hearing organ, ren
what you hear with and what you put on a fishing line..
do you put gravy on those mashed potatoes, scarlet?
Great minds, Aloy... LOL
No, Aloy... they are cheddar/garlic mashies that are now in the oven with a Panko crumb/parmesan crust...

lynxx even, sorry i should really look before i press enter haha
100 to go and 10 or less from each box!
1st da9 - build on da4.9 - not light. da6.33 means to make more da4.9...then make da8 the person who does this...then make that plural for the 9
197 to go here - this is the gid that never ends
10 gray boxes and 119 left!
this is the grid that never ends... yes it goes on and on my friend... some people started playing it not knowing what it was... and they'll continue playing it forever just because this is the grid that never ends... yes it goes on and on my friend...

go hurshy go!
trying to decide when to get list today. 350 is only two words away... maybe i should wait until 85%
oh -- new curricula always are hard to get into. Mother usually does "the program" the first year and just lives with things that didn't work, and then fixes it the next year.
there's 350... so let's see, that would mean 15 more words to 85%... that's not so bad
yep, gotta do it by the book at first, only to see what you do and don't like
gotta go, nick's hungry
later feather -- have a lovely evening!
ekes
hi lillian.... it IS a scary grid... LOL
that's what everybody says when they first see this grid

hi marc
Hi Stid, mrp, jilli, all who haven't been in and out earlier today
on the other hand, if you don't sleep you are less resilient and won't heal as fast... is there something you can take just for sleep?
Good evening all have 60 to go all c's and a's might need some help. Hi stidmama, mrpresident(hows the are)

hi krista
hello krista
There are 39 a's and 22 c's 61 in all
so you only have one a or c
hi Krista
266 left here... working backward from the W, through the R's now
go mrp go!
I now have 7 c's and am working on them
Hi stid, jilli..long time no see. Nice to "meet" you, Marc. I enjoyed your pix, Stid. I have a ? about Flickr
That's how I did it mrp
could I have a clue for the second ra6/18 please

These REs are doing my head in. Any clues for the RE7/60 & 8/80, please?
hi all. What a monster this evening?
need the ra6/18 immediately following the ferry ra5/10 that are going up
I think you can set individual photos to public or private
peri, add n to the st5/18
the 8.70 is plural = its a two part word
yes green it is
thanks mrp
it's too late to do it now so I won't.

flosey -- are you going to bridge tonight?
2nd st6/30 please
ok, not sane hurshy
no jilli, gotta get rid of this cold
boohoo
been working on this grid off and on all day, it is 7:30 pm now and I am getting tired
peri, like a heart attack but change the vowel to the first one
ok, that's what i thought. now for the beer part - a challenge as i don't drink
me too peri
rhymes with where ships dock
or a red wine
you need the hi value letter for this
thanks Marc
sorry krista, took me a while. Yes. under each photo you load you have the choice to make it public or private
i had to set all of mine to public because of my relatives in other states who couldn't figure out how to get the pix despite my **hours** of help (not sure if it was them or the help, LOL!)..guess that's out, thanks, though
clues for re7/44..8/45 combo please?
can you all help out with ideas for skewered foods for kids?? I am in charge of foods for canteen on friday, I have sorted out fruit skewers and muffin skewers, any other ideas?
private photos can only be seen by people who have the direct link to the pic
yw
darn cold, flo!
the re7,44 abnd 8,45 are not a combo
meatballs on skewers.... there are nice vegan balls you can use for kids who don't eat meat
re 7,44 energize the fire
the re 8.45 where to go potty
the fruit skewers have melon, strawberry, marshmallow and grape the muffin skewers have chocolate, banana and berry mini muffins
and the 8?
thanks knight!
flask the re 8.45 where to go potty
NM got them.
krista, I think you can also put photos in an album and set it to private, then people with a link to the album can see everything in it
I did spagetti boats and they went down a treat... bread pressed into muffin tins, baked and then filled with spagetti and topped with cheese, then baked again till warm
I am certain that last trick is available via picasa (google's image share)
I'm sick of staring at A words
oh mrp, that sounds really excellent!
one more ... that'll be 85% and a word for each day of the year... then i can get list
aye aye jilli
yes stid! easy to eat!!

bruschettas are nice, MrP. (Like pizza toppings on sliced breadsticks)

Cliffy!
re 7/60
what happened to Sara? Is she returning this season?
yay thank you
goodnight meliae
Hi, cliff
my husband finds caruso utterly irritating as an actor and is continually annoyed by the solemnly delivered puns and other one-liners delivered directly before a cut to commercial. I like watching his face when it happens - cracks me up :)
re+ first vowel + high point tile + circle + letter after J + 2nd vowel
Can't wait to find out about Sara!
16 cats cliff?
i tend to agree with your hubby, tina. my mom loves him, but i think he is a bit of a prima donna (primo?)
eieios, I don't like sara. But my guess is that they are trying to make a stronger romantic connection with Gil
these RE wrods making me but I am going to save them until last
well, 9 of them are kittens nut
but SIXTEEN
that's a lot of litter, and boxes, and scooping, and purring
GOODNIGHT EVERYONE
i get confused with Sara b/c she played a lesbian on ER. i keep thinking her character is still one and miss a lot of the romance stuff. lol
night robin
fortunately i will be down to 4 by thursday afternoon
night robin, sweet dreams.
well bless ya girlie, i'd have killed them out of anger or neglect, never can tell
i really need to go work out.... i want to finish b4 CSI.
i'm so glad there are people like you Cliffy to help those kittens.
oh, caruso is definitely a prima donna, but it amuses to see my dh turn purple at the melodramatic lines he utters
of course, i would rather just sit on my backside and chat and babble. lol
Hi
i just can't take him seriously.
isometrics eieios! you can do those in front of the computer! lol
hey lady!
I see nothing wrong with that eieios
hi herin
I'm back and feeling a little down in the mouth... just found out my friend's dog drowned whilst she (the dog) was staying with my friend's parents when they were away on hol. They've just come back from 2 weeks of lovely sunny holiday to that news.

Hi Saphy
herin - try digging the chunks of chocolate out from between the keys!:)
welcome back.
Hi saphyre
i am not making much headway. guess i will work out and then check back with fresh eyes. bbl
I think it is or was a stone - likely particle of cat litter from when kitty sits on keyboard
HI Saph.
later eieios
so glad heroes is coming on at any moment - there is no way i would get even halfway through this grid.
My dad was walking the neighbours dog and their dog and the neighbours dog chased a stick into the sea. She got swamped by a wave and drowned. Dad performed mouth to mouth and the dog lived. In fact in true Staffy form got up and ran after another stick
se 7 either one please
Cliff is that a rerun of Heroes?
i seem to be halfway through it now
mel, large body of water + **** ads or ****ed dead or alive.
Hi Ping

lol me too, a friend one time mistyped thanks as thankles, so now I like to say that alot
Ah & biscuits crumbs in my keyboard.
Ha ha im finding most stinky RA words whilst Shane Warne is on the telly
is he most stinky?
Gramma - The most common typing error when I was a supervisor, many moons ago, in a typing pool, was beginning a letter 'Dead Sir'.
that dingbat pres of Iran was here today, did he make a stink lol
YEs and that Ra is to do with levels but my brain thinks of it as most stinky
oh lol that's funny Jacs
Another, was ruder, gramma - the typists often missed the 'o' out of 'account'.:(
even with spell check, I love to read the spelling errors like that
oh my lol
I like that one Jac. Its amazing with Freudian slips. I have a habit of miss spelling cook often
I think of it as most stinky too Lady
So, Gramma, is a letter was meant to begin, 'Dear Sir, Your account...' Well, you can imagine.
could I have a clue for ma6/24 please?
earlier today someone was clueing the 10 and 11 and some got off on a tangent about it being ca6 and tw4...I tried it like a million times
lol yes Jac I CAN imagine lol
Oh dear
ma+ 2nd vowel + go***
Oh Terri i am watching that interview about that iranie president
thanks lbd, got it
I think he should have been allowed to go to ground zero
anyone have a clue for ar9 - not seeing it at all
That guy needs a smack upside the head
he doesn't believe crap happens, let him see it for real ya know?
That, since I was the proofreader who was reputed to spot a typing error at 50 yards, would have looked better had I typed 'if a letter' rather than 'is a letter'. *blush*
10sGu - word above it + tiny insect
lol yeah I caught that, but didn't want to bring it up Jac (
Jac thats pretty cool
flosey I don't have that ar6 above the ar9 sorry
10 add picnic pest to the ar6.18 , what happens if you break the law
Yeah, but I did spot it, gramma!:)
yeppers ( :
what the police do to felons
10, cardiac ar****
I need a ciggie break, bbl
Herin - just spotted your Freudian post. Coq au vin, eh? LOL
I need to go see what mess they have cleaned up out the front hard rubbish week -turning burbs into trailer trash
burbs?
I guess I do have the one above ar**** , but I don't have the other ar6/18
great clues for the ar9 though
need a clue for the second ra6/18 please
ar + 'go off on one', 'carry on like Hitler did in his speeches'.
Nose to the grindstone for this grid and still only gaining s l o w l y. Is the wo7 compound using the previous wo4?
ta 7/32 please

Yup, same here. We didn't have a land line at this house until I got paranoid about not being able to call 911 easily. Now the only people who call it are trying to see something
Thanks inge and jacula, got them both
hi pam again :)
Howdy everybody! How are we getting on?
HI, torg. There was a sex-deprived woman in here yesterday hoping you would turn up.
aw did you come out of lurking just to take the pop quiz?
Hi, torgone
I am good.
I keep the landline for the dsl and 911 capabilities... it is basic
can one not call 911 from a cell?
you can TO - it just doesn't automatically show your address
TO - I'm sure you can do emergency calls from a cell 'phone, even with no credit.
I just my computer working again after a heinous virus infection ..
I don't always have my cell handy/charged and if I went with broadband phone, no, not readily
got
TOR!
Goodness, torg. Where did that come from?
TO you can over here but we also have another number 2. I found that the 000 operators knew my addy on my mobile. Torg keep that virus to yourself icky
My work computer got hit badly, torgone. All files and the registry
: /
I had to reformat. Something my kids downloaded . .
*Trying to remember who the sex-deprived woman looking for Torg was. Have now remembered but won't say.* LOL

na6/18 talk rapidly
LOL,, Steph. No. Not me, but the public shoolboys do!
ty joso
na6/18 could also be a type of to4.
jacula, well life is certainly different where you live. here, we dont use physical punishment in school..........
Fannieg, use the ca***** soore then add the squiggly thing that live in the ground. For the ca 10, then plural for the ca 11
**sore**
fannieng....ca6/33 + the 3rd wo4/9
bubba, wow what a word!!!! is that really a kind of sore??????????? wow.............
fannie - as far as I am aware, we don't either now... but fagging and corporal punishment was always part of our public school system (the one that our MPs emanate from).
dont here anymore fannieg, hence hoodies running wild!
it's moth larvae
got the c word, now clues for the 11 letter word please and i am to sleep.
You just said what I said I think, Steph.
plural the 10letter you just got
ca11 is the plural of the ca10.
make the ca10 plural for the 11
ty jacula
wo7/52?
c10, sore + alternate name for dragons 'great ****s'
The only time we hear of punishment here is when a politican dresses in drag and is paddlled by his intern or special friend, so to speak
also name for sleasy guy, what a ***
*
wo7,52 like I was told--tree + male
on to the other 9 letter words. i have one the re and what a policeman does to a criminal.
politicians do seem to like that sort of thing dont the?!
ty
re 6/18, the first?
'Fagging' in case any of our USA friends are confused bythe public school term, meant a younger boy being an older ones 'slave'/'valet'/servant. If he misbehaved, or didn't do what was expected of him, he would be backed right up to the open fire in the dorm with hi s bare buttocks, perhaps whipped before to the flames.
uh...first na, na4.4 please?
re + bird home
da 8,9 a person from Denmark + the plant-thing that is in the puzzle, then plural
I can just see Gordon Brown dressed up in full rubber getting a spanking! EWWHHH
