ohhhh two kiwi birds in list tonite ta 6/33 and ke 4/8
night stid
i was just checking out geni.com that you mention in your profile.. i'm stuck on what to do beyond putting me and my parents in. does it help you search for ancestors at all?
no saint, no searches in Geni, just entries -- it's free
oh, ok
but you can put in brothers, sisters, cousins, kids and get others to add to it
I wish I knew kiwi birds
monkey doesn't know them either
well my problem is i'm an only child, all g.parents and my dad deceased. just my mom and she knows limited info. : /
I'm an only child too but had 21 first cousins and a hubby with a long pedigree!
Hello everyone. TY Kiwi - got your ta6 bird on points
Hi, lynxxx
oh, well you know my dad was 1 of 11 kids. but, sadly, i don't talk to any of that family anymore. last i knew, i have at least 50 first cousins (hillbilly breeders from appalachia). oh well. guess i'll remain a mystery
hi lynxx
good eve lynxxx did you get the ke 4/8 birds
Yes that one was easy...the other sounds like a Moari warsong
I Love to watch them do that lynxxx
saint, there are sites for tracing backgrounds, eg ancestry.com, with a free 2-week free trial
does anyone have the first la 5/10 yet?
hmm, maybe i'll give that a shot sometime. i'm just curious where i "first" came from. my husband thinks maybe scotch-irish. last name was harper.
Kiwi - uses double vowel
ty lynxxx
ha! got a ka4/8 -- is it the bird? Not according to the ? -- it is meaningless
its plural of a bird
saintfranny, I saw you were interested in geneology. My uncle has been working on our ancestors for about 20 years now, and it's fascinating all the people that show up.
fireworks
blooming heck !!
yay doc wtg!
woohooooo wtg drb ^5 - im only 12 behind you lol
My mom was one of 11 kids, also.
Yay for DRB - within the hour!
Congrats, Dr. B.!
mine was the only girl from 10
wow, lucky you BFM.
ah -- got another ka4/8, with the double vowel (ta lynxxx) -- not the bird either
Oh, everyone, please disregard my icon. That's from a couple months ago. ;)
the un7-9-8 were my last three. Was convinced they were going in the other direction. Sheesh
You also might want to check with the Mormon geneology site. Not sure what it is, but they have put a lot of research in.
it's funny - i've recently been copying videotapes my dad left behind to DVD, and some are of family gatherings years ago - tho i don't talk to them anymore, it felt good in a way to see the huge family i come from... my "roots".. lots of mixed feelings.
bigfoot, nice to see the Expo on Nolan Ryan!
saint -- go and talk to them!
DrB, you're amazing
jilli, I am looking at collector's plates right now on my wall that have him in all of his uniforms.
They are not mine, though. I'm a fan by marriage. lol
oh jilli. it's been 12 1/2 years since my dad died... not one of them has reached out to Me in that time. don't see as i'm missing much. i don't know. maybe next year - planning to drive thru their way next summer on a roadtrip with my mom - we'll see
franny, if you get a chance, do go see them. I regret not getting much of a chance to know my mom's family. They all stayed in Kentucky when my mom moved to California, and now she and all her sibs are gone.
Flicks water every were im off and back soon as im dressed for this eve. Hugs the chat room
woohoooo firewords for me
lol herin. hugging a chat room! that's a lot of love!

Congrats, Kiwi!!

hi MVA
Oh, franny, my uncle found we're related to Lizzie Borden. My husband was a little discomfitted by this, especially when I said we needed a hatchet to go camping. lol
beautiful as ever! but a bit wet and windy
have fun herin
i know. maybe jilli/bfm. a lot of them did my wrong after my dad passed ($$ etc) and i've been bitter that "christians" could be so awful. i'm gonna think on it. only 7 (last i knew) of the sibs are left as it is... i appreciate the thoughts
oops, I forgot you live in Wales....

Aaagh! Now I know why I shouldn't babble while working. I can't get anything done. *poof*
So i guess if we descended on Floseys house she wouldnt notice
nowhere but enjoying the chat
and, weather permitting, they might camp up on the mountain property one night
I meant to say I'm getting nowhere...
lol herin, it use to feel that way when the kids were all home
flosey, just how many acres do you have?
38 up the mountain
12 down in the valley
My friends family was like that and im off and the stupid weather is setting in as bad and wet and i may not be able to wear my silk lined jacket and shorts
ooo, lots of room!
oh yes, they can spread out
flosey, the weatherman showed one sunny day in the next week or so, I think
the mountain property is where hubby's dad homesteaded
got all my w's... now for the rest.....
I must come and see it in the daylight some time, flosey!
back latere
i'll take Both of your weathers, jilli and herin - it's been 80 degrees and Muggy here this week, feels like august in florida - Ick!
would love it jilli, please do
would need 4W drive to get up to mountain property tho
saint, we had no summer this year and now it's more like winter here than fall. I'll take your 89 degrees, thank you very much.
expect frost tonight jilli
....the grass is always greener. haha
80 degrees, but even 89
oh #$%^&* flosey!
went out for dinner tonight and after, George picked the rest of the squash and tomatoes
mmmm fresh tomatoes! i barely had ONE this summer!
maybe we'll be spared frost up here I hope
was dinner good? Where?
oddly enough, in spite of our cold summer, we had best tomato crop ever
envy envy envy about the tomatoes
quite possibly jilli - we're in a cold spot with water each end of the valley - either a breeze up or down
i just looked up where you two are... i want to visit those parts. travelled up as far as seattle one time. fantasize about living in northwest...
went to Rock Salt - Thursday special is prime rib beef with yorkshire pudding
oh, our fave, eh flosey!
Jeremy is vegetarian so we haven't eaten meat since Sunday
Ohh flosey - now you've done it! we lived in San Fran for 2 years and they have the House of Prime Rib there - yummy PR and yorkshire pudding, and creamed spinach, etc etc. the BEST meal ever
oh, would love creamed spinach
it's meals like that that keep Me from becoming veggie
good morning all! I am sorry to say my husband did not get the job. Thank you all for your support and prayers!
yum, creamed spinach, haven't had that in years!
hello saltspringers, I visit often as I can.
i learned to make a good one from suzanne somers cookbooks
oh NO, sprite!!! So sorry!
franny, please share your recipe in your bio?
yes, so are we :( :( They said they'd love to have him as a collegue, but his strong side was practical coaching, and they were looking for more of a sales person.
Hello Sprite...that must be so disappointing for him, give him a hug for me.
Saanichcat, we must get together! See my flickr pix by clicking on my icon!
will do that, lynxxx, thanks :)
Sorry to hear that Sprite - but there has to be a reason, must be something waiting for him elsewhere
from me too sprite
ok flosey - will make a note to do that
Sprite...oh dear. perhaps they'll keep him on the books and if something suitable comes up - who knows
that would be fun jilli
Me too, sprite
thanks franny, will watch for it
flosey, I truly truly hope so. It is what he said himself: if this had been THE job for me, I would have gotten it. So there must be another one.
will hug my love from all three of you, thank you so much :)
add my hugs sprite....
I need to have a break and get a coffee (thanks Jellen!)
thanks Aussieme :)
sorry from me too sprite, add my hugs
will do, MVA, thanks :)
have enjoyed the chat but really must get to bed
which n does the un5/14 go to from the u please ? I have monkeyed from both, and its driving me crazy...
goodnight again!
night night flosey....
wow Jilli that looks like my view too -- I think hat my log cabin is hidden in one of those background hills acoss the great water. Love to visit!
where is your cabin saanichcat?
unear
nite flosey. i'm right behind you
G'night, flosey
oops, good job its not a word....
Hve you heard of of Willis Point? That's where I am -- right across from Bamberton
I'd have to check the map
nite flosey and saintfranny
unear
darn sorry
I did that too saani
got to go, catch you later!
Bye, MVA
see ya MVA..
helllpppp, which n does thes the u follow for the un5/14 please...... I am desperate now.....
just had my hubby on the phone. He says thank you all for the support and the hugs, very much appreciated. And, as one of you asked: they have asked him if they were allowed to contact him if something else comes up, or even if they come across a good job for him at another firm. So at least something good is in motion there.
Thats good sprite, really good...
That sounds promising, sprite.
sprite -- light on the horizon -- keeps the spirits up
Could someone clue ka 5/20, please?
that is what I thought. Anyway, they were really enthusiastic about him as a person, only he did not fit this job in their opinion. And they tipped him off on a possbile job offer that he would be good for, at another firm... he is going to look into that as well.
saanich -- I must look at a map too, but anyway, we must gather the islanders -- there are four of us on SSI
not got it yet jell....
not yet jellen
*hugs jilli* Was really bitter and down yesterday about it. In my defense I have to say I had a lousy lousy morning with a major panic attack, so too low on energy to take a disappointment with faith and flair. Hope to do better today.
and I really feel that after all this, I'd deserved a K-free grid!
sprite -- do you know the poem "Invictus"?
un5/14 uses upper n
I don't think so, jilli!
http://wordinfo.info/words/index/info/ view_unit/3981/?letter=P&spage=10
for sprite
I am the Captain of of my Soul..
oh WOW
and see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invictus
thanks, jilli and franny! I think I will read that often... although I have winced and cried alout yesterday.
grrr, please clue the un5/14..... cranky ?
untah
take off headwear aussie
close but no cigar, saanich, lol!
bless you my child, for I was about to tear my hair out !!!!!
lol
puff puff got it now!
silly word
yes it is, I'll un5 it myself !!
agreed
thanks jilli, for the wiki link too. I think he will have winced and cried aloud sometimes too, don't you?
hope it doesnt become a babblet !!
haka is not a word?
I know, how mean......
cranky, even hara is not a word in enable. Enable is incredibly deficient.
seat
oops..... doh, penalty box for me...
"haka" IS a word...
...but not here
but not in this dictionary !! more like deadcanary than dictionary......
lol aussieme
I am the master of my game, I am the captain of my soul... I can use lickety for the Ks and go back to babbling without shame!
Brilliant sprite.....
hahahaha!
cor, how many fish in this grid ?
3 so far
did you get the plural of the ha fish ?
I've only found 2 fish but then I've been chatting a lot
oui
sh5 is counted as a fish, albiet rather big fish..... tu4, ha4 and plural for ha5...
and I still haven't found those kiwi birds (kiwi isn't one of them)
me either jilli, never mind, we will get there.....
so far...
even with lickety I draw a blank with 4 of the Ks, sigh.
oh, better throw the tu4 at me
kiwi is a phantom, grrrrrrr
lake
goes well with mayo jilli....
er... other box saanich?
sprite, apparently there is a ka and a ta bird (I think that was it)
sorry everyone, I am not used to chatting
Any clues for the un 9/72?
if you found it below ground, you un******* it....
ty Aussieme!
saanich, if you go pro you can get BabbleExpert and avoid putting words in the wrong box (among other advantages -- but not avalibale for Macs
welcome jellen...
you get un smaller words from that one too.... just less ea5...
ty aussie -- I had the un7 but not the 9
oh. I have a Mac but I feel like a klutz nonetheless
welcome also jilli.....
add and s for the 8 too jilli...
darn, you made me try klutz.
and jellen....
an s even
lol
ty again aussie
very welcome.....
Got them, Aussieme, thanks!
take away the un for ea5 too !!
see how desperate I become when it comes to Ks? ;)
ea5, 7 and 7, Aussie
and a 6 as well
see, Mac people, there are some fun advantages to PCs, lol!
... and make it pt for the 9. Morning all
thanks for those clues
we did all that FM..... Morning to you, welcome squidgy...
Hello, FMitch
ka double vowel plural
take away the r for ea4 too.... !!
Oh sorry, just arrived and still asleep.
Hello Jellen
hi FMitch
Morning sprite, sorry to hear the job didn't work out for hubby.
hi FMitch
thanks FMitch.
Hello jilli, good to see you. Is that one of your lovely GD's?
no, FMitch, we only had fawns and brindles. This one is an icon clue
Ever thought about writing your autobiography? Yea, the laughing wall is back again.
even the plural fence :)
Ks done. Lickety has my eternal gratitude.
now I am gonna play babble! :D
Bit early for fish but thanks sprite missed the pl as usual. Going to shut up now and concentrate.
yw FMitch and *hug*
it's a ditch
(in stead of fish)
yay for sprite and the Ks!! Bloody but unbowed!
is it, jilli? Not a fence but a ditch?
hello Babblers
true, jilli, LOL! At least I set out my own course in this and did not make myself suffer on purpose ;)
Its a hidden fence or a ditch that divides the land from one function to another without sullying the landscape.
fran!!!!
thanks FMitch :)
I believe so -- a hidden obstacle. ? says "a sunk fence".
hi Jellen!
Fran!!!!! Darling... how are you?
(((Fran))) welcome back dear one.
i'm doing fine sprite. hi FM!
FRAN!!!! So good to see you!
glad to hear that, Fran. Must have been tough.
hi jilli!
it was tough for many reasons. still feels like i dreamed it all.
HUGE {{{{{hugs}}}}}} to Fran!
hope you will let me hold you for a sec. *hug* Have thought a lot of you.
thank you everyone that sent messages or posted thoughts at babanon.
{{{{{{{{{{ Huge, massive hugs for Fran and all}}}}}}}}
back in a mo -- bedtime banana and glass of milk waiting
thanks aussie. :-)
bfn jilli
later jilli!
you are most welcome Fran......
ok, 96 to go, have to get a couple hours shut eye.... ngiht night, see ya later xx
**poof**
sprite, any strange Ks? i have 10 out of 13 so far
G
night aussie!
G'night, Aussieme
I'd say yes, though all have been present in grids before. There are 2 with a double vowel that look more dutch than english... and one that looks german... and one ka5/20 that looks like a foreign prince but not starting P but K.
bye Aussie
thanks, those are probably the 3 i'm missing!
lol, that would be great :)
1 left, 8 x ka, 2 x ke, 1 x kh and 1 x kr is what i have
kr x 2
thanks!
I'm going to get some sleep now. Goodbye everybody! ((Fran)) Glad you're back!
yw :) Always glad to help, but even more with those dreaded Ks.
night jellen! thanks, ((hug))
sleep well, Jellen
Bye Jellen sleep well.
ok, I'm back to get two words -- one each for the middle column H and A -- any help available?
i'm so pleased with myself, i found the 8 and 9 all by myself!
oh clever fran!
the H is the plural laugh or sunken fence jilli
yay Fran!
jilli perhaps you are missing the ak5/18?
I don't think so, Fran... that comes from the H left of it.
nope, fran, wrong H
one of the As is the name of Disney's little mermaid.
oh, that's right
i have it though, just have to figure out which H word it was.
Yes indeed, FM, I am missing the ak5/18 and have been staring around for it for ages, lol!
I think it is one of the 6s from the drug.
the ak leads kids in scouting
Okey dokey - think pack leader in the scouts
thanks for the ak, sprite!
that's it sprite, the past tense of the ha4/6
and the H you need is past time of the drug
and FM :)
; )
drug? *thinking hard*
lol, I had it, but had trouble figuring out which word came from that tile!
Fran, thanks for the mermaid!
yw, still trying to figure out the pack leader.
jlli, think corned beef or to make a mess of something.
jilli, there's a dim sum dish called pork ha**
jilli: ha**ish
nope, not the past tense of the corned beef ha**
jilli its the plural
then it's the plural
sprite..morning..you know the double vowel k's?..are they both 4s?
darn no, that comes from the top H. Now, then the plural.
Hello Fran! its sooo good to see you back
bingo, nursegladys -- tyvm!!!
rolin, one is a 5
rolin: one 4 and one 5, but not related.
You can tell sprite lives near Amsterdam and Im hungry by our clues. Must get some more tea such a sore throat.
Hello FM & NurseGladys too!
Hey lynxxx :)
hi lynxxx! i missed you all too. :-)
poor FMitch :(
sore throat, FM? Take care...
hi all, good to see you again Fran
brb
hello and bye everyone must go to work now. you're welcome jilli
bye nurse
ok..ok..i gotta go to work...maybe see you at lunch...*poof*
mm, the swallowing raor blades kind jilli, might try a pain killer too.
short & sweet NurseGladys...bye
anyone have a hint for la5/10
bye Rolin
la5.10 uses double vowel
painkiller and soothing lozenges and hot rum and lemon and honey, FM!
bye rolin
Dr jilli has said hot rum *grin* so I must obey
so I can go to bed now and dream of weird words this seems to be full of
;)
ugh FM! hot tea with lemon and rum sounds good.
you can, jilli... will you? ;)
lol, that was my question too sprite. :-)
lol Fran... we know our jilli ;)
thanks for la5/10 lynxxx
yes, sprite, I will! Good night and good luck, all *poof*
night jilli!
sleep well, jilli!
nite Jilli
Good grid today, try pl everything as usual and when in doubt double up on the vowels :) Night jilli.
lol FMitch... I still don't get the double vowel clue for the la5/10...
la 5 -- add what a diva performs: ***a
I'm with you sprite, still stuck
Sprite - ends in **se & shine
perfect BabbleRabble.

Hi BabRab

good night all! glad to be back.
Anyone done sudoku yet today? Bye Fran glad to see you back.
Enjoy Fran
thank you sprite. :-)
take care, Fran
nope, comes after babble for me
hi all :)
hi Ata :)
Morning Ata
morning Ata
another neat vid sprite. you must be looking forward to a break and having the vids be a suprise for you by now.
hi Ata
I enjoyed sharing very much, joso, but I am looking forward to Fran's vids! They were waiting for us until she would return and would be able to enjoy sharing too :)
I want nutria and nutate
getting late here, should go soon. does anyone desire a hint or 2 before I get all responsable and go to bed.
lol joso... I am fine, thanks, love to torture myself with struggling through Babble. Sleep well :)
Tsk, I want never gets!
well it should do :D
don't start me on not getting what I want...
oops :)
we are being *happy* today sprite dearest :D count your blessings :D *hugs*
and Tahlkora is nearly in the grid
but.... there used to be a deep gratitude in my heart and I intend to put it right back there asap. I will count my blessings.
lol Ata... but that does not make YOU happy, does it ;)
I don't like Tahl. was thinking abotu that earlier LOL!
anyone ever read Ricky Moore: a goddess in my shoes?
my favorite word today is nu7/48, sounds like religious ladies going banzi, not the true meaning but it made me laugh at the mental image. Good luck all. g'nite *poof*
she writes about gratitude: there is always something to be grateful about. If you cannot find a single thing, be happy you do not have to eat a living frog today.
nope
Dang there goes my breakfast.
ooops!
You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes well you just might find You get what you need Oh baby, yeah, yeah!
YAY BabbleRabble!
you would like "The Battersea Road Guide to Enlightenment" - its about a lady who wants to makes her life happier after a divorce etc etc, she goes through all these different therapies and classes and weird mystic thingies. and concludes in the end that she could either spend her life striving to be "better" with all these strange things that might or might not help her, or she could simply get on with her life and live it rather than spending all her time not wanting it
too true... I am being an obstinate adolescent today, in spite of my years. And I do realise it. Just not totally ready to turn it around.
if that makes sense, i'm not awake enough for long sentence
morning babblers
lovely, Ata :)
morning Liz :)
if I can find my copy, sprite, I'll send it over to you to read. its a wonderfully funny and enlightening book
Hiya Sprite, better day today?
ow great Ata :D
Morning Liz. That sounds more like my type of book Ata. I can oncur with her outcome.
better by far, Liz. And just could welcome our Fran back, which made me realise how petty the things are I moan about...
I had an email from Fran yesterday
its a very very good book! I buy copies for all my friends when they need a kick in the backside, I mean, a nice quiet poke in the right direction
has she been in here?
she just left, Liz
aw I missed her :(
LOL you DO mean a kick in the behind we know that :)
well, yes .... :D
I will concentrate on your calling me friend, Ata, and not on your need to kick me in the behind.
Well, there's a rose in a fisted glove And the eagle flies with the dove And if you can't be with the one you love Love the one you're with Love the one you're with
*grins* you're a bit too far away for that, dear :D
lol :D
I like that too, BabbleRabble. Especially the image of a rose in a fisted glove.
Thanks BabRab, I will be trying to remember who sang that now, unless you can put me out of my misery?
csn & y
please, put FMitch out of her and our misery, or she will go on about it all day :)
Ah of course, thanks BabRab
Broken the back of this & might finish in the morning...good evening everyone...or have a great day
*hugs* lynxxx!
cya, lynxxx
Toodleoo lynxxx
bye lynxxx
Luther van Dross
BabbleRabble, checked your profile's text for today. Thank you. This one is very important to me at this point in life. I will ta4 it with me.
refresh for new pic :)
awww look at her eyes Ata
she was eyeing up my dinner ...
as cockers do
she was In Disgrace yesterday so she was eyeing from the sofa rather than trying to sit at my feet
oh no what'd she do?
she ran round on some very nasty mud flats and wouldn't come back. they are very dangerous cos the mud is so soft, its easy to get stuck. She was chasing ducks
scary! I take it she was ok?
oh, yes, fine. as always! I'm sure the mud is fine for dogs, they spread their weight much better than we do
doesn't stop you worrying though
no. and she was foul when she got back (see flickr). needed a big shower and shampoo
back later :)
I miss Scully - I know it sounds mad but I used to love doing all that stuff with her. Oscar's very different from her
bye Sprite
you need a sense of humour to bath a labrador!
I *bet* you do! sorry to go on about Hobbit's adventures :(
cockers are very special little snuffly things
no I love to hear about her - she's my surrogate cocker now lol
Naughty Hobbit glad it had a good outcome though.
we may get another one sometime next year - not just yet
Liz I love yr pics of Scully in Flikr, she is such a sweety.
you'll get one when you're ready
she really was FM an absolute darling
morning babblers could i have todays stats please and any biggies thankyou
someone else commented on how gorgeous she was in your pics the other day. been meaning to tell you
morning cool - 160 words today
aww Ata thats so lovely to hear
let me put a pic up for liz of my ex-golden boy. he was so pretty too
yes please!!!
hi liz are there any big words today
It was Haz that was talking about Sculy
theres one 8 letter and one 9 letter, 7 7-letters
Aww bless her I must say thanks when I see her
cool - 160 words 1 x 9, 1 x 8 and 7 x 7
thankyou
there :) look at my flickr now
Im in love all over again!
ohhhhh Ata he's adorable
he was run over a few years ago :( he was brain-damaged from birth and was always going to have a sticky end
golden cockers are *so* beautiful
omg ata how awful
was he from the same litter as hobbit?
nope, but we got them together from a woman who'd bought them both separately then couldn't cope with them
oh good for you. I'm sorry to hear about Jake though :(
That was their lucky day then :)
he was a little sh**head LOL but adorable. he used to bustle round the house gathering up all their toys and then sit on them in his basket
anyway talking of dogs, Oscar is complaining coz I'm twenty minutes late taking him out today!!! Better go! (Sasha used to do that with Scully's toys when they were little!!)
once he sat on a tupperware container all day. a tupperware contained without the lid. and the right way up. must have been so uncomfortable!
have a lovely walk!
TTFN Liz
will do - see you alter
*later*
hobbit's giving my eyes too, but she can just wait till I'm ready today
lol
of course that resolution will last for 5 minutes lol
I'll say ta ta now then?
she's alright for the moment, she's lying in the sun and I'm ignoring her :) and I want to get more than 56 words!
Here, borrow my chisel, you might need it for some of the more obscure words.
any clues 4 the 8 or 9 please
I think so! this sint easy
*isnt
Hello there - a challenging grid today?
sh***let should be allowed. a baby Jaws fish
Ah ha the illustrious one has arrived. a bit Haz, but on the whole a good Friday one.
yes
Well, are we not up to a challenge?
nooooooo lol
Come, come, Atalante! Where's your bulldog spirit?
She drank it?
I dont think its woken up yet!
Not along with the poteen from yesterday? No wonder she's groggy!
wow. my resolution has lasted 7 minutes! she's now doing the head through arm thing
poteen? *shudder*
You weren't leading her astray were you Haz as I wasn't around to keep an eye on things? lol Ata
No, indeed. I was issuing warnings all day about the illegality and lethalness of 'wee still'.
A vet student with husband made the mistake of taking some poteen that was offered as 'Christmas cheer'. He had to take the rest of the day and the next day off to recuperate.
100% proof?
Perhaps even more.
ouch
eeek, well I bet he never did it again.
He went into the Ministry of Agriculture where he would be safe from farmers and their offers.
I've never been so ill as when I first drank some Philipino rum. that stuff couldn't have been far off illegal
I honestly thought I was dying the next morning!
Virtual drinking is so much safer. No hangover and it doesn't affect your looks.
Pish, no backbone, the wimp! The studen that is not Ata.
He was a bit of a big girl's blouse.
The laughing fences are here in numbers!
perfect for the ministry then
They are indeed and a fair smattering of fish too
Indeed, Atalante.
ok, the sooner I go, the sooner I'll be back in the warm. see you soon!
Bye Ata see you later.
Bundle up and we'll see you later. Bye Atalante.
How's the university student?
Not very well today, but tutorial was good thanks
Oh dear - are you coming down with something?
sore throat, swollen glands in neck. Think Ive just been pushing myself a bit too hard recent;y.
Tut tut! Although it IS the time of year for colds and things to go around. What were your fellow-students like?
Very intersting mix, of retired and working mostly female (2 men) and we all seem to have some common threads that had brought us to the course.
Think it will become a good solid group over time.
It'll be fun to get to know them a bit better. They'll all be keen, I'm sure. I remember always being amazed at how studious and eager mature students were. They put us young things to shame.
Good morning all.........a clue please for nu7/48 please?
yes, I am definiately one of the younger participants.
Good morning Flask. Did you sleep well? I'm just started so can't help, I'm afraid, but I'll have a quick look.
Morning Haz.......I did yes, thankyou! I was too busy trying to get finished last night to join in the conversation you were having about books........I just love books....biographies in particular!
Flask - nu7 - begin with a religious sister, finish with what looks like a badly spelt physical threat.
Hi Flask, umm it's quite a hard one to clue think of women who wear the habbit + a vowel + American for a drawing pin spelt phonetically.
I will put any of my paperback into a charity shop but I tend to hang on to my hardbacks!
Or religious sister, three letters of Hobbit's owner, finish off with sprite's least favourite letter.
I know, Flask - but I can't even get the paperbacks out of the house. It's a problem.....
Great 2nd clue there Haz
thanks Mitch.....
And what if you want to read something again?
Thanks FMitch - I get the feeling that word will be much requested today!
There's a babblet - the anagram for the gardener's store, coming from the top e.
thats the second time we've had it, in my lifetime anyway.......I love that word...lol......a good clue could be...onslought from holy daleks!!!!
I know - once I saw it I remembered it from before. It's in the same class as gorhen, the slasher chicken.
Good morning everyone..... all well I trust :)
Hi Karys!
Good morning, Karys. Nice to see you. FMitch is a bit crook, to use Australian parlance. She's a fine upstanding citizen, though.
Re books, thee is always room on the shelf for a few favourites that will be visited again and again, but there are so many new ones out there waiting to be read. Morning Karys and happy smiley cat. Oh for those that weren't on earlier dear Fran is back from Guam and was babbling.
Oh dear ...what's up with Mitch then ?
FMitch...you need some of that amber nectar down yer throat....lol..
It's good that Fran's back again.
oh there she is... ( talking about her behand her back, again ! )
Talking too much probably Karys. LOL, think I should have had tonsils out as a child, they are my achilies heel so to speak.
Mitch...how is she?
now there's a word 'behand'.... what could that be I wonder !
She came across as fine but still in shock too.
may I ask what has happened to Fran ?
Behand one's back is what signers do if they don't want the person to know what they're saying about them.
Am glad she's able to come back....
LOL Haz
Fran said she was grateful for all the messages and thoughts too.
Karys, Fran's sister was killed in a road accident.
Yes Mitch, I know exactly what you mean about the book.....I can seem to not buy one or two when shopping.....
Flask !!!....how lovely to see you and your Handsome Son !!
Aww..thanks Karys!
Oh dear.... that is such a dreadful thing to have happen.... poor Fran
thats a lovely happy picture Flask !
At the time, it was dreadful....we all felt for her.....she's very popular here!
Another sad thing is that Carleekat's husband was badly injured in a road accident. There was talk of him not being able to walk again, but he is making progress in that direction, apparently.
indeed Flask... we all feel we know each other, and consequently feel for each other too
Karys, that was taken on Sept 11, this year on my 53rd birthday!
I heard about Carlee, that was awful too.... we really could do with some good things happening
Haz, when do you get the answers for those brain teasers the other day?
KaToad's baby is due on Monday I think - thats a lovely thing.
I had HOPED to get the answers from the brains assembled here..... I'll have another try at them, but no indication given on the form about answers. I could be bitter and say that half of them are made up.
Sorry you all need to swich your FMitch to English translators on.
oh good....a friend of mine had another grandaughter day before yesterday
In which case Haz I am binning the scrap of paper I wrote them down on as it's lying on my desk mocking me.
okay, i'm stumped. does anyone have a clue for the first la5,10? It is my last word and I just can't find it!
No, don't bin it! I can give you more to join the mockers.
I bets thats the double vowel one Katy
BabRab clued it earlier as la + what a diva sings minus last letter
it must be. thanks for the clue fmitch. thanks for the clue
yw and congrats?
Round of applause for Katy!
I am waiting for the sun to come round just a little more before I start my gardening day
well done Katy!!
thanks all!
Congrats Katy !!!
I blanched a load of runner beans ready for the freezer and froze tomatoes. HAve a cucumber and a green pepper for salad, all from BFs pots only garden.
thanks. took me forever to find it even with the clues. I kept trying to use "alto" and that didn't work!
anyone need anything before I go?
wow Mitch.....that's excellent !
Not for me thanks Katy.
yw. have a great day all and thanks again for clues!
Oh and I forgot the aubergenes too Karys, he has green fingers and thmbs.
Bye Katy.
bye Katy
I do runner beans in a big half barrel, but thats about all veggiewise. We do have some grapes this year 'tho.
How did the grapes do this year with so little sun?
Aparently its been a good year for vines.
I'm surprised, I thought they would have suffered. Shows you what I know!
Very well Haz, could have been a little bigger, but they are only in a pot on the patio anyway, not enough for wine !
What with all of that and the aples and figs from my Mums, bliss. I am hoping for somewhere with a garden when I move.
Are you thinking of moving Mitch ?
I am definiately moving just haven't found where yet. Property developers came knoking on the door so to speak of the flats where I am now.
Are you sorry ?
Mind you until I complete I won't be counting any chickens but so far so good.
Yes very as I love where I am and will be moving quite some distance as round here too pricey, but wonderful opportunity to become mortgage free.
I still think you should get the Location Location I can't be bothered typing it again people onto it.
so, a bit of a mixed blessing then, it's strange how things sometimes force us to do something we wouldn't have chosen, only to find it was the right thing after all.
They always seem to find amazing places at good prices.
And you could pretend to be difficult and turn up your nose at what they ofer.
offer. Anybody would turn down an ofer.
hi everyone
I like to watch some of those 'moving' programmes, except when they are talking telephone number prices !
Hello Andree.
I look on the Ch4 website Haz and couldn't see that they were filming a new series.
Husband imparted interesting information yesterday. House prices in Belfast have risen 47% in the last year - highest in UK!
Hi and bye Andree.....sun's round now, best strike whilst iron etc..etc..
Ah well. You don't want to be doing that Try before you buy one. It's a BIT contrived (sarcastic or what!)
Bye Karys, don't try to do too much in one day!
Wow Haz thats some increase. That has got to be one of the worst progs. Bye Karys
Doing babble has saved me from looking at some of those programmes!
Right, I have emails stacking up waiting for my attention, had better get act together and at least look as though I know what I am doing.
I KNOW you know what you're doing!
Anyway, I should take a break as well and make the house civilised. You've distracted me from getting a lot of words but I'll forgive you. You're not well.
What? what am I doing?
You're distracting me from the word search. You know you're to blame. You just know.
I've been behaving myself all morning :) Oh that old excuse LOL HAve a good day and see you later Im sure.
But I meant that in the office you do know what you're doing, so you don't have to look as though you do.
LOL *poof*
Off Igo as well, and I'll speak to you all later. (Sounds a bit headmistressish, doesn't it?) Byee!
bye

now got ne7, un7 , ea7x2 ,wr7 & ta7. What 7 am I missing????
clue for the ta7 plz ishult?
clue for the nu 7 please?
this is not an easy one to clue, but here goes ta6= misspelling of pin + 1st vowel +male singular (add plural for 7)
there isn't a nu7 liz
just monkeyed ta7.ta4/8 without the l and ***** and pains but minus 2nd letter.
according to licketty there is???
nu7/48
ty ishult.....it's a bloody bird!!!!!!
there's a nE7 liz
yes I have that one Movie but the list says theres a nu7/48 too
so it does.......my bad!!!!!!!!!
nu7 a lady og god and when someone gets *****ed in the street.beaten up. but minus 2nd t and another cons.hope that makes sense.trying to think of better clue.
nu7 sounds like a raid by habit wearing sisters
ok Movie I found it anyhow
it means a mountain surrounded by a glacier and its actually a word I did know believe it or not!!
anyone found any d words yet?
ty liz.that's good to know.file it in my brain and forget about it as usual.
LOL Lilli - I only know it because my husband has been on 3 Arctic expeditions!
movieman - dh4/6 - roahl da**
dh4/6 roald **** the writer and swap 2nd and 3rd letters around.
yes mm- i have 1 so far... jsut tstarted on them, though
oops roahl!
the other one i have is just like that... but with a different last letter
I have 58 left but will have to come back later. Have fun everyone.
howabout the top row e?
liz,how exciting.did he enjoy them?silly really,he must off done or he wouldn't have gone 3 times!
dh4/101st vowel and cons.
yes Lilli he loves it but I prefer to be somewhere hot! Have a look at what I'm up too... http://www.justgiving.com/lizelmont
Lilli - he did get attacked by a polar bear when he went to the North Pole though - very nasty incident
omg,was he ok?
i'm like you liz.i hate the cold.we're going to egypt in just over a week and i can't wait!
Very shaken but not badly hurt. He was with another guy and I'm afraid he had to shoot it - dreadful it was
good morning/afternoon/evening
Have a great time Lilli - wonderful place to go!
Anyway I must go or I'll be late - see you all later
urf polar bears aren't fun
howabout the top row e?
ahh.what a shame, but in that situation it's him or you.
bye liz.
they look cute but i wouldn't want to get too close to one!!
mm- it's an e+3 consonants
mm,top e -edcons + vowel.
I had a musk ox creep up on me in Greenland. It was foggy and I needed to go to the loo so went out of camp about 50m and did what was necessary. turned round while still crouched down to see this HUGE musk ox glaring at me about 2m away. never screamed so loudly!
actually, its an ed + 2 consonants
sorry,meant 2 cons.
ty all
did it run away ata?
did it heck LOL
did I run away? ohhhhhh yes
someone shot a flare at it from the camp and I legged it
lol.
did it chase you?
no, luckily. cos they certainly run faster than I do
hope you had your running shoes on!!
you dont realise how *big* they are - and how big polar bears are - till you really see them up close. they are *huge*
we got chased by another musk ox a week or so later, we had to shoot that one, soooo sad
hopefully we are going on a safari next year which will be great to see the animals in the wild and not zoos for a change.
ahh,what a shame.
oh wow! you'll love it!
but as you said, when you have 2 tonnes of muscle bearing down on you, there's not much else you can do!
my daughter will be 9 then so i think she'll be the right age to appreciate it.
oh yes! wow, she'll remember it for ever I would think
it will be great to see elephants, as they are one of my favourites.
and lions!
and giraffes! I'd love to see giraffes properly
and rhinos!!
they can't half move!!
and hippos! dangerous little beasties that they are!
i know, and they look quite cute but very dangerous!
incredible how such huge things can *run*
and cheetahs, I'd love to see cheetahs
as long as i don't have to,because my wheels won't go that fast!!
you need an added rocket pack
i want to see them hunt, but also i don't.if you get what i mean?
oh yes. you want to see it, but not see the scared animal being hunted
i could with a few!!!especially when i'm in tescos!!!
meant could do.
I could do with a big sharp stick to poke people out of the way in tescos!
my daughter won't like that part!
but it's life and i think she should see that it's not like the zoos where they are given it.in the wild they have to hunt or die!
no, you might have to subtly distract her on occasion
you're right, she should certainly see it, just not to told to, if she really doesn't want to
ooh boy
sharp sticks aren't enough!!i hate shopping at the best of times but people in tescos drive me to distraction, especially when they stand in the middle of an isle taking it up with trolleys, gassing away and don't move out the way for you even though you're practically on top of them.it really infuriates me!!!
they would be a good start though! Tasers might be even better. Espceially for the mid-aisle chatters
great idea.where can i get one?!!
if I ever work out where, i#ll let you know!
easy laddies
no the workst is pensioners, when u only have a limited time and u want in and out
its just wishful thinking, hodag!
speaking of tasers i'm annoyed tase and tased aren't in the puzzle! haha
i just run into them now in my chair.i get wheelchair rage.don't come near me when i've got my cap on back to front.it won't be pretty!!!
the *worst* are those d**n self-service checkouts which never work! those waste more time than pensioners and chatters put together!
I see,i can go along with that........lol
omg,i used one of those once.never again!!
tbh they're usually ok in tesco but never try the ones in asda! if you make a mistake it takes forever to correct it
they really are evil supermarket-ified!
I love the self check outs... but I worked retail for a long time (not grocery) so I understand how to use them
the one i used was in somerfields.
yours probably work. the uk ones don't! (well, have issues, a lot of the time)
we have one in tesco's that I swear is possessed
we just got some new ones on post and they work. :)
i thought it would be alot quicker.it took me 10 times longer, and i did what it told me to.
I've never seen them in the german markets or stores
don't blame the!!
meant them!
i love them in Home Depot and Lowes. In the market I tend to stay away from them because I usually have HUGE orders and prefer to just bag while someone else checks out
sounds familiar lilli!
we've only got them in supermarkets so far, I think
I have to use the electric scooters in the stores when I shop but,I find that most people are very nice and helpful. Every now and then you find one bad apple and i feel sorry for their ignerence!!(I spelled that wrong)...:)
most people are, its just some .....
don't get me started on the shops.i also have an electric scooter but can only get in 1 shop in my village and even then there is always boxes, trolleys etc in the way.
I like the self-checkout because usually you and zip in and zip out. What I don't like is there are 4 of them at the store I shop and generally 2 of them aren't up and running!
I *love* the idea of self-checkout, I just wish it would work properly
when i'm out with my hubby and bairn i take my normal wheelchair and i hate shopping because i can never get around a shop properly and people with prams have trouble.it'll get even worse now that xmas is coming.i'm just going to ram everything!!!definate wheelchair rage!!
I think at that point I would be speaking to the store manager! (he wouldn't like me after that)
When they first installed them, they were too sensative. Now that they've adjusted them I can bag my groceries with the best of 'em!
prams, children, pensioners should be banned from supermarkets
aa5/10??
what about wheelchairs?
what are prams?
pushchairs
wheelchair rage! woohooo!
stroller TnT
things you put babies in
oh okay.
never heard that word before
what are pensioners?
retirees hodag
senior citizens
do you call them strollers toad?
I see,I am one of them and I like me.......lol
yes I do
but why do they need to go shopping when those that work only have a short time to do it in and pensuioers have all day, and in some cases all night as we are told the dont sleep much
everyone should be banned from supermarkets especially when i'm shopping!!
I've heard them called trolleys though. its interesting what the different cultures call somethings
when my husband's away, i usually do it online.much easier.
here, on post, they allow those with disabilities to enter the commissary (grocery store) 30 minutes before it opens
my Polish nanny kept calling them "strolleys" because she couldn't get it straight between stroller and trolley
My folks shopped the military commisary when I was a child. During those days children were not allowed in that store. Makes it too difficult for families especially if one of the spouses is deployed. Thankfully, they had changed that rule by the time I was raising my own children.
toad, that is *remarkably* sensible
that's nice toad.
oh that's a new word. we should use that. strolleys
really Nonnie.. wow. I've never heard of that
Great idea, toad!
when my 2nd was born and i had a newborn and a 16 month old, i did a LOT of online market shopping... the $10 delivery charge was SO worth it
don't forget all of us retirees already put in our time to make a nicer world for everyone else.............lol
I know lots of families that do that in the states. I agree it would be worth the $10
It was in Washington DC, during the sixties. I've even shopped a commisary where they had arrows on the floor and you were to follow the arrows!
my husband and I now make it a night out with the kids
nobody asked Hodag
haha. traffic control Nonnie
come again?
he takes one and I take the other, we split th elist and have a race- the girls think it is a blast when we make it a race
oops sorry I just realized I used a word. :(
whoever gets back to the car first wins
not nice Trebor
trebor--I hope I'm not being too bold but you may want to watch your attitude and keep it respectful. Thank you!
my husband usually goes on his own now and normally late at night when it's quieter, but then there's not alot of choice as they are filling the shelves.
that is so fun lideola
well......... i get sick of people saying we did this for you and that for u in the past, i wasnt asked before i was born so nobody did nothing for me.
ah yes the universe started when you were born Trebor
bye
sorry you feel that way Trebor.
so that gives you the right to be disrespectful?
that's not hodags fault.
not being disrespectful at all, just honest
ty Nonnie,I feel if you can't show your self then keep quet
it is very disrespectful. Especially the way you said it
and mean
there's ways to say honest things though that aren't disrespectful
you wouldn't have the life you've got today without the older people fighting for us.
what is it with fat old men on "Survivor" wanting to be naked???
losta letter in that one. TY all like I said it only takes one bad apple..................
ewwwwwww!
so you are predjudiced against the elderly, children and the handicapped? just want to keep it straight
so what we owe them
very true hodag
i hva not mentiones handicapped
i KNow TnT- he is reminding me more and more Richard from the first season
GROSE
I don't think we "owe" them anything. but they *deserve* our respect
and i am not predjudice
dh6? anyone
oh ok- then just children and the elderly
Lol all...........8)
i'm getting my wheelchair ready and my cap on!!
I don't think anyone here feels they are owed anything but we don't deserve to be spoken ugly to either.
deserve respect yes, but why do we constantly need them telling us what they did
you go girl!
I'm so mad that Ashley got voted off last week instead of him. ergggg. My DH is a huge WWE fan, so he was rooting for Ashley
What trebor doesn't seem to realise is that he might not even be on this planet if it wasn't for those brave souls who fought in the various wars.....
you know, there are a few things lacking in this site. The first being the ability to send a private message
we don't. but if you did something good, I'm sure you'd like to be able to mention it. but yes, I agree in a way, it can get oppressive. but we just have to deal with that
oh u go for it lideola
the second being the ability to mute people
oh and being on this planet is a good thing is it, with the state its in
I haven't been following this season, toad but I do remember past seasons where someone felt the need to bare all. Yikes!
well, you have ways of leaving it. don't make us miserable with you
46, are you including your parents and grandparents in your disrespect?
If you don't like living on the planet "with the state it's in", then you can always do the honourable thing.....
i know TnT- i liked Ashley, too. was not happy at the decision they made
where have i been disrespectful
tell me#
which planet would you like to live on?
fix it trebor if you don't like it.
from the interviews the members of that tribe were just giving, they are beginning to question their decision last week
does anyone have the dh6?
Toad you go girl...:)lol
i don't yet tnt
well if nothing else it has made a chenge to listening to the woffle that usually goes on in here
I'll take planet number 5 with a side of moon, please.
no sorry toad.
do't listen then!!
hahaha Nonnie
Me to darliin...lol
oh gag. now he (naked dude) is sucking up to the person they kidnapped.
don't even.
chenge? woffle?
Never heard of those words before.....
kidnapped??
they sound kind of familiar though ....
never watched it toad.is it on sky?
yah, at the end of reward challenge, the winning team gets to kidnap one of the losing teams members until the next challenge
trebor--I've never "seen" you here before. How long have you been a non-contriuting member of this site?
I have no idea. its an american show. sorry lillian
Nonnie - I just think he's using the site to air his ill-informed views
quite glad really, as i don't want to see tubby naked men running around!!
I was thinking the same, mm
wahoo I've greyed the "w", "h", and "e"-s
46 your kind of thinking is why the world is in the shape its in. You are the one that needs the "pity party"
must needs to get to work...Trebor is a bore anyway... Tnt- the immunity challenge is VERY interesting
bbl to finish this grid off
okay. thanks lideola. I think its coming up very soon. :)
have a great day lideola!!
bye lideola!
lol lilliann
ty- see you all later!
bye lideola.don't work too hard!

what is considered a babblet? I've heard that term so many times on here, but never understood it... is it just a made up word?

Hi Mom, how was your lunch with your mom yesterday?
hi mOM
Hi Annie, it was very good. thanks for asking. We had a great day
Hi Mom
Hi Greenbay. I haven't seen you in a while. How have you ben
been*
good
I've been busy doing other things
glad to hear that. :)
Good morning greenbay, congratulations to Anne38, Mom, *hands hot coffee and bagel w/ schmear to AnnieBrooklyn to keep her happy*!
hi Scarlet. Good Morning back
Good morning Scarlet
Mom's right, greenbay, it has been a while since seeing you. Hope everything is all right! :-)
Scarlet, I am not happy at all, even a bagel with a schmear will not do it....12-3, I cant believe it!
Always good to see your smiling face, Mom!
yes it is.
is that the Rockies game Annie?
afternoon everyone :-)
Mom, it was the Cleveland Indians
AnnieB... it was a slaughter yesterday in the games... Maybe the Yanqueros needed to blow the carbon out of their bats! The Rockies won again!!
Yours too Scarlet. I feel like it isn't morning until I have come down and "seen" everyone
Hi Katie/
I remember seeing during the night that the Rockies had scored quite a few runs. I didn't see the Indians score.
Awww... Mom, you always make me smile. Hi, katieW!! We are a few grumpy ladies because of the baseball divisional playoffs yesterday!
:)
Ahhhh, baseball is to the british what cricket is to americans, we can see it's fun but we just don't get it!
Katie, you don't have baseball?
(showing ignorance here, I am sure)
Mom, As Scarlet said it was a slaughter in Cleveland yesterday, only hope the Yankees wake up...too good a time to waste...*sigh* ....yes, babble and coffee start my day..would not want it any other way...great group of folks here
AnnieB... it's the New York Yankees... they always find a way to come back! katieW... it's a very complicated, psychological chess game in baseball, but I think cricket is more physically demanding!
No football is our national game (obviously soccer over with you) :-)
I'm sure there are a few baseball clubs around here but nothing widespread and certainly not professional
We ( and I am a huge fan, Katie) have football that is not soccer...
We never had soccer growing up, it seems like in the last 10 years it has grown in popularity, especially with the school age children
I love the Yankees
I'm always impressed with how big your female game is over there, it is struggeling to take off over here as the Premiership is so dominant.
My grands play soccer.....green you are a true fan then...I wish I was in Cleveland to see the game
our team (Cincinnati Reds) have been the pits for so long now, I don't think they will ever get their act together
Scarlet, I googled McCormick Field...it is a wonderful replica...
yes they lost. today they will win though
It was Cleveland's night... that happens... I am still waiting for the Chicago Cubs to get going!
I think football is the easiest game to pick up, in Britain everyone plays it from when they can stand
Scar, I am not keeping track of the divisions as I should, where are the Cubs as we speak?
Oh, AnnieB... I am so happy that you had a chance to see the field... The Bambino himself loved it!
I love the passion of football, I had a season ticket until this year but I moved too far away and it was too expensive to keep going
The Cubbies have been in Arizona the past two nights, and they just can't find their groove, so travel day today, and resume in Wrigley for Saturday and Sunday. Short series... if they lose on Saturday, they cry for the rest of the winter.
We have a Little League Stadium near my home (Mets) which is great fun to see a game played.
Then I will watch the Cubs play on Saturday....okay, where are the Red Sox?
hi all!
Hi Owl!
hi TO
Hi To! I haven't seen you in a while. How are you feeling?
could i please have a clue 4 the 8 and 9 letter words please
You know, Annie, I haven't had time to read the papers for two days, and I thought it odd that Fenway would host one game and leave me hanging for the rest... must find a schedule. They are one-up. Hi, Temple... are you a Phillies' fan?
hi mom
good morning Cool girl, sorry I can't help.
Hi, cool girl!
i am fine and you? annie, the crying in the household second only to the crying at work for the phillies!
no phillies phan
any help wit hthe kr5/18?
Hi Craggus
hi scarlet didnt want to disturb you you seem deep in conversation
I don't have the kr word, sorry
hi mom
Scarlet, thanks for the updates....I was getting lazy.....Owl, I must confess that I did not root for the Phillies...
That answers that question, TO... Hey, craggus... are you feeling any better?
how are the sox doing?
The Sox are one-up, the Yankees and the Cubbies lost, too!
Owl, I am a Yankee fan and when the Phillies beat the stuffing out of the Mets it sort of took the stuffing out of me too....New York teams and all that
yeah starting to feel better today thanks! my boss came up from work and brought a birthday card and cake for me coz im on holiday next week
Both the Cubs and the Phillies are in danger of kissing the season goodbye, with one more loss!
Happy Birthday early, Craggus
thanks mom :o)
craggus...glad you are feeling better and "Happy Birthday to You"!!!!
Well, whenever your birthday is, craggus, Happiest OF Days to You! Many happy wishes!
:)
i know what you mean. and i was there for the august game
thanks guys, my birthday is on tuesday but with the postal strike everyone was sending cards early!
has anyone got the 8 or 9 yet
not here, cool
Oh, that's nasty, craggus... a postal strike would bring this country to its knees...
the 8 is the plural of the un7/36 and the 9 is the past tense- un7- a metal detector enthusiast may un7 a treasure
I keep trying to find ways to use the "let"
yes thanks cool girls
thanks, craggus
thankyou craggus
awesome, thanks Craggus
Postal strike is driving me mad, you can't do anything until next Thursday and that's if we are lucky. Sorry it clashes with you birthday Craggus
on the bright side at least no bills will arrive for a week lol
Is the postal service privatized, katie and craggus, or is it a goverment-run service?
LoL
It a kind of hybrid system, it is a private company but the Government own shares. They probably have a point with the dispute but they are not coming over as reasonable. Its all to do with pensions and modernisation of the service.
it is open to private companies but all the mail is sorted and delivered by the Royal Mail which is nationalised ( i think thats right!) lol
feeling foolish here, not getting the un 7
the posties here, in one office anyway, go out on strike all the time over petty little things and half the time dont even have the backing of the union so never last more than a few hours or a day but still disrupts things
Oh, so it is for the benefits of its workers that has ground it to a halt... does the news keep citizens updated on the progress? And, who is responsible for increasing or creating the pensions? Stock-holders or the government?
mom- if you were in the garden harvesting potatoes you may have to un7 them
craggus i have the kr5 4 20 is there another one two
Glad to report that the Ballymena postmen are working as normal. (Hope no flying pickets arrive)
well DUH! thank you Craggus.
Hi Haz
:o)
LOL, Mom.
They had a few strikes in the summer (the odd day here and there) however they are now doing back to back two day strikes so they went out yesterday and will not be back to Wednesday morning.
theres a kr5/18 cool girl
Good morning/afternoon all.
Good morning, Haz. Well, at least you are getting your bills on time!
hey haz
(didn't see that N on the bottom) **makes eye appt.**
Isn't it joyful? The bills, I mean.
Lol Haz, can just see a van full sweeping down and grabbing the postie as he goes about his business. Seriously who can afford to lose 4 day's wages!
it was hard enough finding the first one it took me ages
Haz, has your husband encountered any bluetongue, yet? (I hope not)
So, craggus, are you feeling any better today?
even though most of my bills come off as direct debits, i still feel better if i dont see it in black and white lol
hi Haz. how are you?
yeah starting to perk up a bit haz :o)
No, Scarlet, no bluetongue. We're hoping that we're so far north that the midges won't venture to these parts.
It sounds a really nasty disease, I do hope it stays away.
Glad to hear you're on the mend, craggus.
I read that the midge outbreak was sort of a surprise with the cooler weather arriving. Thank you, Haz.
I'm not having much fun with the gird today :-( sometimes find it that way!
Greetings Babblers. Anyone remember me?
The whole thing started off in Africa and has been spreading north. Hopefully winter setting in will stop it in its tracks.
Hi, swmbo, of course I do... good to see you!
I know it affects sheep, too, Haz.
Indeed we do - you set up BabAnon! How many points do I get, swmbo?
Hi swmbo, of course and Hi Haz!!
What is new in babbleland? I haven't been here in a loong time.
Hello Anniebrook!
Haz, you get a bonus os 100 points for that LOL
How long is it, swmbo? You haven't heard about paying for really good clues?
clue for the aa5/14, i cant seem to get it!
Or that the first babbler to get to 3,0000000 points gets to meet George Clooney?
No, tell me about it. and what is bluetongue?
aa5/14 - gave a sound of satisfaction.
I try to play a bit everyday (almost never finish) but rarely have time to chat. I am on vacation this week
lol thanks haz
Bluetongue is a disease affecting cloven-footed animals. It originated in Africa, is fatal to many species and is spread by infected midges. The first cases happened in Britain recently. It's NASTY.
You're welcome, craggus.
Hi SWMBO, welcome back. ")
:)
Oh, that is nasty...hope it stops in its tracks as the weather cools down
And costly.
bluetongue sounds awful *shudder*
I hope so - farming is in a precarious state at the best of times, never mind having a new disease to contend with.
am i right in thinking theres to be no government compensation for bluetongued cattle?
Right better get back to work, new job and all that. Have a good weekend everyone. See you on Monday :-)
see ya katie!
bye bye Katie. enjoy your day and weekend.
so tell me about how you pay for a good clue?
No, there'll be no compensation because, as I understand it, the animals can be used in the food chain, provided no antibiotics have been used etc.
Now, do I make up a plausible means of clue payment, or do I confess that it's a joke/
No confessions here
Haz, I would really like to hear your "plausible means of clue" payment, I bet it will be good
there are many ways of making people PAY. Remember, NO ONE expects the Spanish Inquisition, so beware of pulling SWMBO's leg LOL
paypal: st_haz_of_babble@hotmail.com $10 a clue
I'm still mulling over it. It's easier to make up clues than to sort out payment issues.
Hello Haz
I knew you wouldn't let me down, Atalante!
Well, now, would that USD or CAD???
LOL, atalante
Hello Preethi - haven't seen you around for a while.
Hi Preethi
yeah.. been busy with work
whichever has the best exchange rate to the £!
We'd have to have Australian dollars as well. Is there no universal currency, like Esperanto? Okay, it's not a currency, but you get the idea.
I suppose chocolates are a universal currency?
Hi Ata
So, are you on holiday, Preethi, or just taking a break from work?
oh yes, definitely
hi mom!
Chocolates, now that sounds like a good method of payment to me!
How about chocolate clooneys?:)
they get mt vote, haz! : D
lol Jac!
Afternoon, all.
You're on my wavelength, Jacula!
hi jacula
hello everyone :) so good to see you all!
Hi Jac!
Hello, Jacula and good afternoon! Perfect Babblespeak... ChocolateClooneys...
hi mrp, good to see you
Hello mrpresident - have you been sunning yourself?
hello MrP, even better to see you. How are you?
Hello, mrpresident.
{{{{{mr. P}}}}}}
Haz - It seems there'll be no postal deliveries until at least next Thursday. I'll look into another way of sending you that book; don't want it going missing in the backlog.
Hi, MrP. I hear you're cast-free now.
Thanks, Jacula - like I said, there's no panic.
I have been enjoying the beach and the house enormously! We got here mid afternoon and went for walks and lay around on the beach! I am cast free!!! yaaaaaaaay! I am almost feeling human again! But, still a long way to go. Lickety has been an angel through all of this so am blessed beyond belief
have to run, be back later. Hugs to you all.
bye mom :)
bye, Mom, later
That's great to hear, mrpresident.
What happened to Babble last night? I got frozen off the page in the middle of a convo.
bye MrP and Annie
Bye Mom, see you later.
I took my new book to bed and ended up reading until 3.30am!
Until later, Mom... :-)
'Bye, Mom.
bye Haz
bye Scarlet and Jacula. :)
wow jac! must have been some book!
I don't know, Jacula - the last I saw of you was heading to take a phone call, I carried on but found that things I was typing weren't showing on screen. I went to bed as well. Eventually.
ok, is this grid half nice? or do I have to think seriously about starting??
It's got its fair share of normal words, babblets etc. I'm about to get more threatening with it, though.
its about a quarter nice
Hey haz!! I must ask a question of hubbyhaz... when a dog has skin lesions... the type that are raised and lumpy and get chewed on... what usually causes them?
thanks ata! will consider being quarter nice to the grid now! LOL
I'm not great on skin - there are so many different kinds. Is it like a wart?
Afternoon all.
back. and un-stinky now
Or it may be a kind of cyst. If the dog is working at it, maybe best to get it checked out, but don't interrupt your holiday!
no, not a wart... it looks like an injury from a bug bite.
or insect bites
If it's oozing (sorry folks, if you're having something to eat), it may be infected post-insect bite.
we did have the injury tested. and it is now going away (thank god), but my doggy is just like my children so am concerned
hi liz! :)
well I'm eating, but when I'm used to discussing gangrene at the table, lumps aren't a problem!
Does gangrene feature often in your dinner time chats?
it is amazing to me that my children and my dog are as important ... I think I am over over over over protective of my canine... what you think??
clue please for the first la 5/10
quite often, yes! LOL well it depends whether I'm up with my sister or not. Up there conversation ranges from gengrene to osteomyelitis and ulcers, fistulae, you name it!
I think you're a normal dog owner LOL!
la 5 -- add what a diva sings: ***a
bugger osteomyeloitis... am getting over it.... but still hurt by the result
I think you've hit the nail on the head, mrpresident - the dog is like another child to you. I suppose others would consider me to be too blase about animals, because you do encounter people who go to amazing lengths for them.
Well, I am not making much headway with the grid, so I guess I ought to go dress for the day BBL...
talking about doggies - do you believe that dogs can scare themselves? Hobbit had a close encounter with Treacherous Mud yesterday, and ever since then she's been really quiet and clingy
hi swmbo!!! long time no see! great to see you again
See you swmbo - thanks for saying hello!
I think spaniels are easily spooked, Atalante.
I'm never sure whether its just me attributing behaviour to her - but I think so too. she's really edgy and not happy today
oh ata!! that is so right! Vixie has been a right dynomite lately and we know it is because she is spooked by crazy hormone infested males! She is just hanging to find a 'nice' boyfriend
I let her in the bedroom to sleep for once, and she slept *glued* to me all night
Spangle particularly dislikes a section of the road where we walk quite often, because there are occasionally rowdy schoolchildren there. She sits down in protest.
has she been spayed??
my vixie?
yup
Or was she splootered?
no, she hasn't .... I am looking for a partner for her
hmmmm that makes me feel better. I can restore her to happiness with cuddles over a few days. But only if I know that she really is likely to be spooked, if that makes sense
or splayed?
I would do anything for her to have a healthy happy litter
Seriously, somebody did once ask how much it would be to get their dog splootered. A handy cross between spaying and neutering.
Are you in touch with other breeders, mrpresident?
can you advertise with a sheltie group?
I don't get it haz?
morning, all. I'm a bit late this morning, because I've been cleaning my keyboard. what a mess!
The splootering or the breeding?
we have people contacting us to breed her. But I must be careul cause Shelties are not a common breed
my vet here was once asked to display a female dog
LOL
Hi, Angel.
not in australia anyway
If you speak to Vixie's breeder, he/she ought to know of reputable breeders.
MrP - my old dog, sadly long gone now, was a Jack Russell x Sheltie.
and I am really really dumb to the whole whelping thing! am I just not right to be a parent of these dogs?
mrpresident, you won't be the parent! Why do you want Vixie to have a litter?
I want her to have a litter so that she can be a mum, and so that nwe can keep a pup of hers and breed on.... she is the most beautiful dog (excellent temprement) and we would like to have a pup of hers.,
clue for dh6/24?
oh let me tell you all... I am loving this cast free environment!! I feel like the bionic woman!!!
wheeee!
Vixie probably won't care either way about having pups, but if you want to breed from her, there's going to be quite a bit of work involved. Talk to other breeders to find out the pitfalls etc.
dh 6.24 --- add a flower: c****tion
I think that her personality and the way she presents is perfect for puppies... she is delightful! Her puppies would make great pets. My only concern is.... who gets the pups
whoever pays for them and has a good home
thanks BR! :)) nice to see you
1st ar5 please?
hello
hi Rabble
breeding becomes a "commercial" venture, not a cute "oh won't it be nice for her to have puppies" venture
thanks rabble
BBL. I need to do some gardening and some ironing.
bye jacQ!
Has anyone got a clue for the KA5/18, please?
I have a friend who breeds Cavaliers. She has about 20 of them, all treated like royalty, but to buy a puppy from her is REALLY difficult. I doubt whether we would pass the test.
Bye Jacula.
oh yes, mrp you could pick and choose at will exactly where you wanted any pup to go, I'm sure
ok, time for me to hit the hay! am so happy to be on holiday but must get some sleep with the kids completely crazy to go tomorrow! Love ya all heaps and see you later! :))
Off to be with you, mrpresident - sleep well!
oh haz! she needs to let go!
She dotes on her dogs. And she's a good client!
thanks haz! will go and 'make a night of it'... thanks so much all
NIghty night!
kisses and hugs! xxxoooxxxooo
night dear!
nite nite ata and haz et al! kisses all round *poof*
No clues? Ah well better go and finish the ironing to see if it inspires me..haha, as if!!
Hi everyone. I haven't been on chat in over a year but here goes
awww every time I look round, hobbit is gazing at me
Wait, liz, how much are you prepared to pay for a clue?
lizmac, KA 5/18 = alt spelling of a diamond characteristic
Hello Quick - welcome back.
thanks Haz!
Ooooh - a picture of Elizabeth Taylor would be a good icon clue for that ka5.
Haz, I have a spaniel too and she is very easily spooked
By the way, it looks like Venice is on after all, Doctor advised hubby to go as wee one is stable and it'll be a long haul (my kind of Doc.)
Another spaniel lover! They're definitely timid at times.
TY Quick.
That's great news, liz - on both counts. I was so frustrated for you last night.
what happened, Liz?
yw liz
Yes, it seemed so selfish to bother about a holiday under the circumstances, but it still disappoints doesn't it!
It does. We had to abandon a trip to Paris when father in law took ill.
Ata. Hubb's grandson (from previous marriage) has become very ill with Ecoli 507 and needed dialysis, blood transfusion, and operation in a hurry yesterday as his kidneys stopped functioning. He's 18 months, and fit as a flea normally.
oh no! how awful :(
He's still very ill but responding to treatment slowly but surely. Turning point will be when he starts to pee again.
It's fantastic that he's improving. Children do seem to recover more quickly than adults, but what a worry!
never will a pee be so greatly acclaimed!
Misinformation there, it's ecoli 0157 apparently.
I shal change my icon in his honour. BBL.
Best wishes for a complete recovery.
I shall spell shall correctly too!!
I have crawled to 100. I'm getting words slower than a Ballymena man reaching for his wallet.
wow, thats good for this little horrid grid
Half the words are straight from enable's basement. Goodness knows what the rest are going to look like.
sub-basement / gateway to hell
Creative typing can only go so far with this grid. I'll have to suspend my disbelief and lose linguistic inhibitions. But I'll do it later. And Lickety will help if fresh air doesn't. Bye for now!
Good morning all
There, changed it (or not maybe). As you see, mum and dad sre very young and have recently split up.
good morning all. i'm stuck with just 55 words. maybe have to print the list
I only have 57 :(
good morning all
I've still got 5 words to go, but I really should finish the ironing!! BBL

Bye TO!
omg.thanks ruru.someone hit me with a ha4.
hi haz.
haz, my granddaughter likes your dog.
lots of tough words to get today. Not a smooth grid at all!
Hello lilliann, doxy. Your granddaughter has good taste!
This is my third go at it, sprite - real life has intervened but, as you say, it doesn't flow.
hi all! {{{sprite}}}
this is my 2nd go and still 43 left!
hi all
Hello stidmama.
I am not usually here this time on Fridays, but BOTH kids are home today, and I wasn't completely back to normal anyway...
same here, just came back after leaving this morning... whole day flew past without a moment to spare. So now it is ME time... me and babble ;)
hi stid

still need 25 and they don't come easy
thank ye kindly...I'll shout loudly ok?
that's what we're here for
well I haven't gone to the list yet...
wow, whoever clued that nu7 was a great mind... brilliant clue.
i need 10 and am going round in circles now.all i'm seeing is blooming aaaaaaa's and hhhhh's.
I used the list with the Ks this morning, didn't feel like torturing myself too much today. But otherwise listless... but not clueless.
oh never clueless !
lilliann, they are there for a reason. You are invited to say: AHAAAA!
I caved in, I'm using the list.
but I can't get that nu....
I've been making up clues in my head all day for that nu7. They're probably incomprehensible, though!
rally must be feeling thick today
nu7 - begin from the end. Sprite's least favourite letter, follow with three letters of Hobbit's owner (a babbler), finish with a three lettered religious sister.
that nu7: a habit-wearing lady starts a fight with you (badly spelled)
Or nu7 - a dyslexic soldier's call to ceasefire.
ah, a backward clue, always smart, Haz :)
It just tickled me that there were two palindromes in there, kind of.
I like mine best :D But it was not mine, it was clued like that earlier.
hm. *thinking on clue*
very true, Haz, and nice :D
and for the record, guys... it is a NONword. Unword. Stupidhead word.
what do you mean, religious sister? like "OP" for Dominicans?
When the convent tries to take over the diner, the waiters yell "Nu7!"
No, a sister like Maria in Sound of Music?
no, like a lady who wears a habit and spends her life being married to Jesus.
a religious sister wears a habit
thanks for the nu clues, it is indeed a stupidhead word
hi peri
love your clue vicuna.lol
It is too a real word. It has to do with glacial hills.
Dominicans ARE that sort of sister... I don't understand the "three letters" bit
I quite like the word. I think it would be fun if it ever appeared with the slasher chicken (gorhen).
lol Haz
The word begins nu, add another letter for the sister, stid.
LOL....Brillliant clues you guys....
Hi all - only here for a short time. Wow the A words are really hard!!!!
stid, there is a short 3 letter word for a sister like that...
hi sandie
oh! *duh*
a real DOH moment, stid? ;)
first la5,10? and last ka4,8??
Hello sandie - they are 'amazing'.
hi Sandie
If you can have a baronet, it's a shame you can't have an ea4-et
la5/10 - la plus the start of Mr Onassis.
la5 - la + an opera singer sings an ***
got it. there oughta be a prize for stupidest babbler... I might get that one!
They get an ea4 dom instead.
'dom' in dutch is stupid, dumb.
I dunno, stid... You'd have some heavy competition! lol
typical, just get back on the computer, now i have to go again.blooming husbands and children getting in the way of babbling.how dare they!!!!see you all later for my last 8 and 4th attempt.
LOL now that's justice! rofl... dumb e4s...
bye lil
later lilliann!
See you again lilliann.

bye for now lilliann
bye all.

Bye, lilliann.

so bye all

Bye Kalia!

and all other leavers :)
see you peri!
(anyone else?)
ha. gray right-hand column!
... and then there were none...
are ye done sprite? *hopefully opens rum cask*
I will need that rum to finish... no, I was just counting down babblers :)
Except for the lunching lurkers, of which I am one!
oh, okay, as long as there's a reason... *POP!* grab the dipper and help yerself. ARRR.
hah.... not anymore you aren't, gwenski!
hey gwenski!
Oops!
Gwenski blew her cover!
last ka4,8?
AAAARRRRR! Bottoms up... no not those, the glass's, you beast!
Greetings, all
rodl (that's rolling on deck -- easier to do when underway and full sails (and full of rum))
ka + colour you get from the sun minus last letter
hi gwenski :) Good to see you unlurking yourself.
good clue sprite; type of japanese character
I was hoping "edna" would mean an elderly "etna."
I tend to lurk only while on lunch hour at work. If I'm playing at home, I'm much more likely to speak up.
or a japanese sword with the end cut off :D
is that ka 4/8 "cheese" in dutch?
thank you
the first one, yes!
coolness! *satisfied grin*
dame Edna... too true, possum!
multilingual Stiddie!
and I am at 100 words and toddling off to grab list
down to 20 and suffering
that's not the half of it sprite... my new project includes learning the local native language, a variant of "Lushootseed" spoken by the Coastal Salish people around Puget Sound. I know three words already! LOL
this dutch firm has been at it for 2 years now to make a new pudding each month. This month's is pancake pudding with melasse! Was our dessert today and delish!
oh WOW stid, some project!
hm. sounds nice -- melasse= molasses? or syrup?
By pudding do you mean dessert in general, or specifically gelled creamy thing?
yes, and there are sounds that simply don't exist in European languages, so a bit of a challenge
errr... not gelled. Creamy yes.
let me check molasses and melasse...
molasses it is, stid
I just love cognates! thanks sprite
lol @ loving cognates
one has to, when loving babble, LOL
not many cognates in Whulshootseed -- 'al'al means "cedar board house", there is a glottal stop before the a sounds. the other words I know are "hi there" and "bye" (O-chawH and Hoy!)
I think I can do Hoy
"Hoy" qualifies as a faux ami!
of course, there are actual linguistic symbols for the sounds, I am trying to approximate the sounds with a standard keyboard... but many of the recognizable letters do have the usual sounds. fortunately. there is a funny "crossed lamba" symbol that resembles the Welsh "ll"
okay, end of lesson. the AA 5/10 is NOT being cooperative. help please?
ah, isn't this wunderbar... I have won a million dollars in the lotto Rheinland-Pfalz! And I did not even play :) I won with my email address. Miracles never cease.
stid: past tense of sound you make when you get this word.
stidmama think the place where you bowl
There's an aa5/10?
clue for aa 5,10 please
yes Vi...
hi again. back to *try* and tame this grid
Cool. Thanks.
hey atalante, you're a clue today!
thanks tuco... *thinking*
Hello, Ata. Well, part of one, anyway.
Hello Atalante! Are you copyright or anything?
yayyy!
oh my! that is a peculiar word... there are two double vowels in in Louie
hey Ata!
Apparently it's a shrub, stidmama.
thanks stidmama!!!
I think it was in the grid a week or two ago, actually.
am sry, clued the wrong one. A bit dazed about winning such a big prize. Too bad I kicked the email from my server before it arrived :)
well then, only 56 to go and I obviously need a lot of help today. AK please?
Oh, I don't remember that. Either I forgot, or I didn't play that day. *shrug*
ak5 - ak plus a type of beer, rearranged.
Ah well, sprite. Easy come, easy go.
think scouting, stid. The lady leading the little ones.
stupid spam
We'll be intellectual and talk about Kipling as well for ak5.
okay, thinking...
AH! thanks!
funny, the Jaws animal in two consecutive days
ha. A axed.
huh.... something very weird with that word... I can't spell anymore!
ooh, I hadn't noticed that particular fish. Thanks, sprite.
no fish... mammal!
it's the squiggly-ness of the words sprite, when I leave off babbling the last couple days I can't read in straight lines any more.
no mammal... fish!
no, its a fish
olphins are mammals
Jaws animal is non-mammal, pre-vertebrate fish. yes?
dolphins*
most I know are human
It's a vertabrate, too, just cartilaginous instead of bony.
atalante, help us out here.. you're the ocean-type!
well, its a vertebrate, but non-mammal LOL
Ata, where are you when we need you?
Ah, there you are!
the ocean type is a fish... the human type is mammal
pisces: chondrichthyes: big huge jaws fish. aka Carcharodon
Good point sprite. I'll grant you that!
:D Couldn't resist...
LOL I read the names to stidkids. They are impressed!
And actually, the word meant humans first and was later applied to the fish!
human type: homo sapiens lawyerensis
we have such "intellectual" discussions here!
lol Ata!
Same with shrimp, much to my amusement.
"harlet" isn't in the dictionary
??
harlot, you mean?
usually spelled harlot
I tried harlet too
ow... of course Vic, thanks
ahhh....
please point me in the right direction for the dh 6? I have the 4s
figures... enable knows 10 alt spellings for each word, but not the ones we think of
tartlet
stid, do you know the indian word for the sum of all your good and bad deeds in your present life?
As Margot Asquith once told Jean Harlow when she (Jean) called her "Margott"... "No, dear, the T is silent, as in Harlow."
haha baby tart?
the fish should work with let too. a baby jaws
yes.... I know that one
got it. thanks sprite!
dh6 - dh, plus three letters of Mr Palmer or Mr Schwarzenegger, finish with not applicable.
LOLLLLLLL Vic! Great one!
thanks also Haz!

monkeying works for me almost as well today as looking for patterns
ka5/20 - incorporate what Cinders had to clean up, finishing with a vowel
ka5/20: a foreigh prince would be a Pa***.
thanks haz and sprite!
down to 31

my son is growing up... he went out tonight to play... I said: shouldn't you put on a coat? Mum, it is not that cold, he said. And if I get cold, I can come back to grab my coat.

deb: jewish coin from the bible I think
Allie, there are links on the bottom of the page. The one that says "Angelsong's Babble Page" has a bunch of links on the side, and there are clue pages that tell you what kind of words are in today's puzzle.

Oooo 'to whom' all of a sudden and not 'wot'

Man, I am slooooow on this one today. Still have 40 to go and have tortured myself over several that turned out be, ahem, rather easy
ancient, I'd say. And totally ignorable.
wut dou mean fmitch
I do that all the time tina -- get so caught up looking for tricky ones that the fish swim right past!
Oh spritey sprite, can't I play, it's been sooo long.
hate to be the one to bring the bad news, Tina... but there are lots of very tough words to come ;)
*proudly modeling anti-feeding hat*
Promise to be good after and not make a mess.
ta6,33?
you can, FMitch, and you will :D And I will watch and be amused, as ever.
wut dou mean? is this a strange and ancient language?
just gave the def, debjed!
Oh noes! Don't tell me that, sprite! :) I could really use a clue to the dh6 - my current nemesis on the grid
deb, try anagram of k4/8 japanese word + male pronoun. then plural
LOL you know how to take the fun out of it sprite by saying yes. Reverse psychology works every time *grin*
tina, remember TV show dh**** and greg? change last consonant

I'll be gentle stid as this one doesn't seem to be fully formed yet.
I have a friend named Bart. Not at all troll like though.
i mean u r a idiot

you feed it, it grows. Law of nature.
Its not fair game sprite, actually its rather tedious.

and whenever "frood" appears in the grid I wonder why it wont take it!!!!
So, we've established you're not a troll and you're obviously not a typist, so what exactly are you?

hello all. thought I had a bit more time before the trolley dropped off the heathens.."checks clock batteries"
iams is expensive cat food.
spelling correctly would divulge the fact it has nothing to say, hence the distortion
haha sprite
wow... and that from a non-native speaker :D :D
it also requires a modicum of brain power too sprite.
They make dog food to (iams that is) it's what our dogs eat.
true, FMitch :)
It obviously saves a great deal of time to leave out one letter and then spell it incorrectly
ugh... my brain is too fried from a cold - I'm off for a while.
bubba: fascinating icon you have!
poor CadFan... get well soon!
oh yes, I love your icon, bubba

About another hour before you'll smell that, Fiona. There's a white tin loaf and a round cheese & onion loaf. If you're really hungry there's the end off the white cottage loaf and also some granary bread left from day before yesterday.:)
mmmmmmmmmm
Hello, Nat.
ooo cheese and onion loaf mmmm
yummy yum yum, can I have the end of the cottage loaf and have you got any strawberry jam?
Hi Nat
EEEK! The Babblers are after my bread.
oohh yes please,i'm starving, haven't eaten anything all day.
Back after surrendering the computer to my kiddos for a while. Is the troll gone?
FMitch - Yes. I have butter and I have home-made strawberry or plum jam.
Jac I just got in from the gym and I'm HUNGRY !!!
Hello Tina. What troll? The one with the minty name from this afternoon?
Badl lilli ! Jacula you are the BEST *grin*
should go and get my tea now really, but i've got 4 left to find.
No we had a little trollette Jacs, not much baiting fun at all :(
the screen name was bethany or something like that if I remember right -said it was 13yo.
lilli - you really should eat something. The words will still be here when you return.
Ah. I saw an row going on earlier with 'Trebor'.
not the anti old people one
now come on! whats the point of a troll if you cant bait it??
yes, seemed quite harmless
Guys I'm really stuck on aa5,10 and as5,12 help!
That's the one, lilli. Mind you, trolls die faster if not fed!
as 5/12 grey in colour or do you mean the other 5/12?
aa5/10 - double the vowel + add a cons and ad another vowel doubled. :)
(Erm - no connection with my telling lilli to eat and trolls, btw!)
she was just a typical teen.gobby!!!
Trebor was funny I got a kick out of that one
LOL Jacula
first ar5/10 for fireworks, please
yes mams' i will eat very soon.promise!
Good girl!
the other one thanks Liz!
Aryn, think Disneys Little Mermaid
Aryn - the little mermaid.
tY!
... and Congrats to Aryn then :)
and thanks FMitch got it eventually :P
never seen the little mermais
*mermaid*
hi
Liz - Having a daughter, I had no choice about seeing it!
having issues with the other ars... am I just losing my brain?
ah but I have a son who is 8 and my daughter is only 1 :) I have that to come then!
Mind you, same sweet daughter, now 20, went to see Rob Zombie's remake of 'Hallowe'en' this afternoon.
i'm having issues with the sa's toad, and thinkoing the same.2 left.

no, its monday
i like the little mermaid and i miss bob the builder.
hey jacs!
my daughter is a big fan of In The Night Garden
congrats toad
okay have the middle two ars, but can't find the first or the last
Toad - ar4/4 take the mermaid and drop a vowel
Just in case I rudely disappear - my computer keeps shutting off - not ignoring anyone :)
Hi, TO.
wooohooh,finally.fireworks.i can't beleive i missed the easy ones!!
Okay, I think I missed trebor - was this after the little one?
thx ozone

Well done, lilli. Now... FOOD!
no way before the little one
TO!
yay lili!
okay thanks FM
Hi red! and congrats lilli and Hi TO too
Ah, okay - wasn't on. Now I wanna go check the log just out of curiosity.
Way to go lilli!
hi to.
No Trebor was this afternoon... kept going off about how he didn't ask the older generation to do anything before he was born so he didn't have to respect them
I have to go....cat brought something revolting in the house :(
I'd better look for my words. *Dives into grid.*
hey mitch hey all! i am so used to popping in and out, i never know who i've already greeted!
don't hit your head on the corners Jacula
thanks everyone.yes jac, i'm going to have my tea now.nite everyone, see you all tomorrow.
How rude and ridiculous (eyes rolling at such troll drivel). What a jerk.
*Imagines Liz's house full of revolting peasants, complete uproar.*
HI OPwl
meant Hi Owl :-)
HI everyone else too
'Bye, lilli. Enjoy your meal.
Hello, peri.
hey peri! ooh, did we have a troll today?
bye lili
Two, apparently Owl.
dr. nut would love it
does anyone have the la4.9, after the body of water?
la4/9 = one hundred thousand.
use the 2 point letter toad
la4/9 starts same way as water but ends with a consonant, looks odd but it works, la5/20 is plural
1st 3 letters of body of water + consonant end.
that's a dumb word
bbs, laundry calls
ty peri - my monkey did not see the plural
how about the la5.10
Ooh, just found that lovel nu7 that sounds like a violent Whoopie Goldberg film.:)
i so love that word
found it never mind
Me, too, TO.
LOL Jacs
in need of the first aa...
'Sister Act III - The Nuns With No Mercy'. :D
toad - signed with pleasure (aa5)
oh duh, thank you Jac.. even though it should be sigHed not signed
back to find my last 12
Oops, yes. Sorry Toad.
ne5.12 sounds like it would come straight out of Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary
ne5/12 is more of a poetic use of the word.
Hello again, peri. 4 left here.
clue for the ne7? I tried building on the 5, but that didn't work
"thar" should be a word... like "thar she blows!"
Toad - neither acid nor alkaline. ne7
thank you it was right there... again
y/w
LOL, red.
I think "warnut" should be a word
can you use that in a sentence, toad?
As opposed to 'walnut'?
is that like, "you don't like chocolate warnut?"
My husband was a "warnut" before joining the army.
Ah! Yes,
ahhhhh... ok, that makes more sense.
oops... that was supposed to have two question marks. "You don't like chocolate? warnut?!?"
hi every1
oh that's good too red
fireworks
oh wow, I just looked, I only have 3 left heehee
wtg peri
oh these 2 blasted an-s
thanks toad, the ultrasound is so clear, bet you can't wait to hold your little one
FIREWORKS!:-)
Well done, peri.

well then toad, I hope you can wait til the 15th
:)
bye for now
'Bye, peri.
bye peri
fireworks. had to use enable for the last two. but oh well
I'd better go and get those loaves into the oven. Might BBL. Happy Babbling. Toad - an4 = picnic pet + vowel. an5 = same but with a 'sun god' ending (consonant before the last vowel).
No need of the clues then. LOL. Well done, Toad. TTFN.
hi. Jacula -- I just watched the Tesco ad you linked. Thanks for sharing that!!
Picnic pest - not pet!
later all. good luck
fruit - Hi. Glad you liked it. I loved Bjorn with the foil plate pack at the end.

bye Fruit
bye fruit
16 to go here...
72 here, Montreal
go mom go !
cute Tina!
:) *beaming*
lol Montreal, going, going gone. Doubt I will finish this one
but have a few minutes to try and knock some out
hours to go yet mom...
I am getting to hate words that start with vowels
a number of them here...
I know and I am not liking it
lol i thought nuthatch was there for a minute
Hi Lideola
hi : )
Okay, I FINALLY got the nu7 and have to concur with stated opinions that it is, in fact, a stupid and irritating word
phantom ideola...
Hi Lideola
so right tina !
hi lideola
hi all- just sludging through this
I'll take a hint for that hateful nu7 word please!
a sister dressed in black and white garb who picks a fight with you
the last part is a weird spelling of what the sister does
oh, i'll get her! Thanks!
and hello
you're welcoome
nice clueing mom...
hi, Mom!
can't take credit for it, Montreal. Someone said it earlier
but thanks just the same
could I have the point score on the nu7 too pls
i'm just not sure which what the catholic sister part goes- up or down
nu 7/48
bottom to top
TY Mom
48, lideola
you're welcome Lynxxx
:0) Late to the draw in chat today, I am.
if you eat sometlhing and throw it back up, why can't you uneat it?
ewww
sorry
silly- i'm not offended in the least- just got finished 3 straight years of having baby spit up as a regular accessory on my clothes
Lynxx and Lideola, did you get the nu 7?
yep, nothing like a little baby spit to accessorize
nope not yet- i am going to really concentrate now
not me yet but I will (grits teeth)
I hear that lideola. Surprisingly, the most annoying thing about motherhood for me was always being damp somewhere because of my offsprings' various bodily fluids.
Soooo glad to be [mostly] past that part
ain't that the truth
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME
got it did you, Lideola?
must be Inuit
must be an eskimo or inu word...
it is - west greenlandic
had to look it up because it infuriated me so
understood tina...
oh yes, silly me- my west greenlandic is so rusty
Bwaaahaaa!
now back to getting real words
the newest canadian territory is called Nunavut...
my daughter asked me why I'm laughing
:)
Guten Tag Babblers, I am down to my last two words, and cant find them. Please help me.
guten tag inge !
Guten Tag Inge
I will help if I can
hello Inge
what do you need inge ?
I need the la 5/10, just before the big puddle of water'
La + *** Onasis
l + double vowel + "night **der"
and ka 4/8 , the last one in the ka list
la5.10 la + the start of what the soprano might sing
a karate word inge !
ka + short british goodbye
i can't even tell you how many times i've entered the german word for cheese
while i love the Brits, mom, i don't their short goodbye...

Hi Une
yw
Hi, MOntreal, how about a couple of numbers for sudoku, which keeps stumping me? hehe
hey, mom :-)
Ah, Babble, sudoku and planarity - the trifecta of time waste :)
today's sudoku inge, was really a medium...
planarity? what's that one?
ah yes, because thats what i need- another game to keep my firmyl rooted in unreality
planarity.net; hard to describe - it's sort of like untangling a necklace you just got out of the jewelry box
well, it got me down to two empty squares three times
I shall try one more time now
hi all. back to finish my last 16.
Hi Doxy
hey, doxy!
thanks Tina - I'll have a look later

kr5 - saurkr***
thx. For trivia buffs, did you know that more Americans were born in the US on Oct. 5th than on any other date. Do you know why?
kr5 - kr + double vowel + stick letter
one kr is that native hut in Africa, (double vowel) the other is a German word for cabbage, usuall follows Sauer
It's amazing but so many of my closest friends are Libras.

Congrats Ata & Montreal !!
tx lyn - level 4 tina seems tougher...
find a dot with only two lines attached; put it in a corner and start untangling there - makes the upper levels much easier
tx tina, will try that...
level 4 completed tina ! - level 5 appears huge !
gotta go - happy babbling all !
bye Montreal

nu7 - not male or female, not black or white
I like the signs vs Trinity at football game: Our SAT are higher than yours
ohwait...nvm!!
lol
yes, we used to chant at them "safety school" and "flip our burgers"
that would be neu...lol
at the bball games
xuzy, is that the ne 7 or the nu 7?
ne7 :)
Whatever we say, we suck at sports
any clues for the nu &?
i need the nu 7. got the ne....
nobody sucks at sports as much as swarthmore
eieios, do you happen to read Stephen King?
okay, maybe we could beath Swarthmore, but we don't genrally play them
Good evening all. Tricky little grid, isn't it?
hi haz... long time no see
i'm a bit on the stuck side with 22 to go
just wondering because i could clue you with a Stephen King reference
lid, does King have anything to do with the nu7?
hi all, finished earlier as it's gone midnight here but not sleepy yet so come to help and chat.
Hello carlee - yes, we seem to miss each other these days.
hi again, lili!
how are things on your side of the pond?
hi to.
nu7- Catholic sister + 1st vowel + homonym of a sharp little implement used to hold up papers- a thumb *** (but its a homonym)
They're fine, thanks. You keeping okay?
surviving as best as I can
that must be an eskimo work
it sounds like a hoarde of Catholic Sisters rushing at you with broad swords or machetes
thanks lid, is that from King?
could someone tell me what the 8 begins with?
It's all you can do, carlee.
well, the last 3 letters are a recurring word throughout a lot of his work
Hello everyone; Haz, are you sure you are keeping alright?
un8 hurshy
hi haz. all, ihave lost the status bar at the bottom of my scrren. how do i get it back?
ah... i suspicioned as much
Now you've got me worried, Zen. Do you know something I don't?
you mean the task bar?
yes
yeap.... babble is a good distraction once in a while... when I can think... so what is new...how is spangle et al?
7,8,9 are same hurshy.
mouse around the edges until you find it
ohhh silly me got the 7 and 9 and missed the 8!
yes
if you moved it accidentally, you can drag and drop it back to the bottom
afternoon all
Nothing much new, carlee. Spangle is as usual. I stood in disgust in Marks and Spencer today. Their displays of Christmas fare was unnecessary.
It is after midnight Haz, have you turned into anything yet ?
Evening all. TO - you've accidentally squashed it down. Get it back and right click it and lock it so you can't do it again.
No, still me, Zen, I've just pinched myself to make sure.
i think i shrunk it....can't get a grabon it
displays ....were unnecessary.
one to go...nu7 if anyone would be so kind
one to go...nu7 if anyone would be so kind
ty jacs cannot grab it
hey moo-
one to go...nu7 if anyone would be so kind
displays ....were unnecessary.
hi moolingwa and jac.
Apparently, they switched the Christmas lights on in Leighton Buzzard on Sept. 24th!
Catholic sister + vowel+ homonym of sharp implement used to hold up papers- thumb***
nu7 was possibly the most fun word today.
bleh...lagging bad
but it does pop up at the bottom when you mouse there?
a lady of god who wants to fight you.nu7
its inuit moo if that helps
a lady of god who wants to fight you.nu7
but it does pop up at the bottom when you mouse there?
I saw xmas stuff too today but was in a craft store... typically the red and green tinselly stuff doesn't appear here until hallowe'en is overwith
no
sounds like a large hoard of them running at you with weapons
Well of course you wouldn't know if you had, as you would be something else - WereHaz !
does it pop up if you mouse to the left edge, the right, or the top?
carlee- i saw it at target the other night- i was actually angry that they put it out before halloween
sa 5/18?
no way jac, i can't believe that. mind saying that our local coop has christmas food in already. it'll be out of date by then!!
Some shops here begin at the end of August, carlee. It feels like being in another world.
you might need to keep the mouse in place for a couple seconds before it shows up, but it should be on ONE of the edges.
( and the $ store had it..but at the back ..hallowe'en was front and centre )
brb - phone
well... we will wait and see when or if it get celebrated here or not... we might do so a few months late
well... we will wait and see when or if it get celebrated here or not... we might do so a few months late
well... we will wait and see when or if it get celebrated here or not... we might do so a few months late
ok... sometimes a message sends...sometimes not..and now 3+ times.... babble actin gup
Yes, see how things go and make decisions nearer the time.
It acted up around this time last night as well.
we've had halloween stuff in our local shop for the last few months aswell, but we're not into it as much as you are in america.
( canada lilli )
sorry carlee.
Just wave a hand vaguely west and we'll know what you mean.
and canada.
( oh I want shatake to be a word..i know is shittake..but... )
hahaha... yea...that land mass over there....
i'm not good at geography.somewhere over there!!!
sa 5/18?
plural of the sa4/8 right before it bichon
Well, I nearly choked when Scotland was declared to be an island off England somewhere! Geography seems to be off the educational scale these days.
oh duh!, thanks
hi all, please help with sh6-33
who declared that, haz?
sh6 hebrew coin
I honestly can't remember but it was someone from over there (waving vaguely west)
one q...does the nu7 end in a 5 point letter?
we normally get teenagers atleast a week befor halloween and they're not even dressed up and want money for cigarettes and booze, then come halloween when the young bairns come people won't open their doors because they're sick of it by then.
ty hurshy
*swimming in the irony*
yes moo
figured as much
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
and ifyou read Stephen King, especially Desperation and The Regulators... the last 3 letters are a common "non-word" that he uses
i am back cause i am addicted
so moo how do you get the little critters to sit still for those pictures? staple them in place?
i haven't left because i am more addicted
why can't you "unrake" the yard?
hi minveryork.
the birds? well it depends on which birds :)
hi jo, how are you doing?how's work?your boss still a pain?
what birds? i am talking about your icons
oh
he's still on vacation hehe
I just give them a beer and a TV remote
they're all male
but the rest yukkkk
oh good!when's he back ?
good one
tuesday
did you get that nu yet?
its an inuit word if that helps you
he pizzes me off when he's not there
nope...tried a lot of words tho :)

make the most of it.is it your thanksgiving day on monday?
he phones in to someone up front and demands
well if you find it, you will have un9** it bichon :)
our planet bichon
How about nu7 - the dyslexic soldier's ceasefire?
ty xuzy
nu 7/48 is nu plus vowel plus thum *** (like a push pin)
un to uncover something, could be soil.
or the planet we live on
What was the clue about the coin?
sasha
nu7 - first three letters, a sister of habit, next three letters, Hobbit's owner (a babbler), finish with sprite's least favourite, though high scoring letter.
Hi, All

Hello Uneaixoise! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Hello msilver620! How are you?Welcome to the puzzle
hey, min! :-)
tx lid...
where did you go haz?we're hoping to go to kenya next christmas.just waiting for the holidays to come up.
Help with dh6/24 please!!!
good night all- off to other games and work
we're going to do safari then beach holiday.
TV show "DH**** and Greg"
Hello jvane7!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
We went to Kenya last August - in time for the wildebeest migration. I enjoyed it much more than I had expected to.
nite lideola.
Goodbye lideola! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log!
hi jvane
I'm great, on the last one!!!
was it hot then haz?
did you do just a safari or safari and other hotel aswell?
It was the equivalent of their winter-time, so cold through the night but it warmed up during the day. It was never unbearably warm and no problems with mosquitoes, so it suited us fine.
ok all gn and congrats to all ..can not think anymore byee
Hi Minveryork
i've seen the wildebeest migration on the tv and it was spectacular.but i didn't like the crocs getting the young ones!!
We did Nairobi, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara and then back to Nairobi. If you're interested, I did a write up of the holiday - in BabAnon, Kenya Holiday. But it's LONG!
bye jo.
dh 6/24 is TV show "Dh**** & Greg", but with single a hump letter instead jvane7.
Just found the last one!!! Does anyone need any clues before I get back to work?
gn lilll
haz,i'll definately look it up.
lilliann - I know what you mean but we didn't actually see any crossing the river at the time we were there. But the numbers are just incredible, and zebra as well.
Goodbye joanne0334!I'll see you tomorrow in the log!
bbl
Congratulations jvane7 on finishing the grid!Hooray!
I'm back.
Goodnight pam! I will see you later on in the chat log!
congrats jvane.
Pam - I put the migraine hat link up for you in my bio.
Hello again, Jacula.
hi jac,again.
I seem to keep missing Pam.:(
i can't wait to go haz and it will be great for the bairn aswell.
She was in and out again very quickly but will be back hopefully.
lilli - Haz's write up on her African experience is well worth reading!
i'm going to go now and read it.see you in a bit.
Haz - If you think yours was long you should see mine on my Cretan Capers. Oh, you have! LOL
Cretan capers - the one the postman said put his back out?
Maybe that's why they're all striking!
LOL. That was last year, you silly Haz, you. *grins*
i just un9,72 the un 9,72
Still, the memories linger and grievances build up.
I wonder what the post carrier who had to deliver the manuscript for 'War & Peace' thought?
Probably something unrepeatable!
Hello KnightTime! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Well done, Knight. Don't forget to clean your spade before you put it away.;)
un9/72 is past tense of the un 7/36 word KnightTime
Have you ever read the book all through, Haz? I have listened to it on tape but, although I have the book, it's spine isn't much cracked.
hello babblers
Hi Hell on ea5/12.:)
EEK! I meant its not it's.
(Blame the glass of wine I've just poured.)
No, I've got the book sitting prettily on the shelf and have attempted it a couple of times. I really SHOULD try it again, shouldn't I?
heya jacs !
At least you caught the apostrophe before it could escape and do more damage.
we'll have to set a mutually convenient date to begin it together Haz and see who gets through it first.
Will we set each other questions to make sure we really have read it?
i wish i could have a glass of wine but my tummy is upset by my asshole neighbors
True, Haz. We can't have extraneous apostrophes roaming all over the log causing mayhem.
Haz - Of course! (Though I *could* cheat by listening to the tape again. Oh, no I couldn't. I gave it away in my big book and tape purge.:(
i'm sorry, i meant, stupid, uneducated, ignorant, bigoted, idiotic, unmannered, arrogant alcoholic neighbors
No, apostrophes, like children, need boundaries.
Oh dear, Hell. What happened?
can one of you clue me on the very last ha 4/6? pleeeease?
ha4/6 - put a consonant on the end of the headgear so that the word begins and ends with the same letter.
'has' in Shakespearean terms.
we used to be very good friends, but i think what's at the bottom of it all is that the wife has been too supportive of my husband (because his son died in december) & he's an unfeeling cad who just doesn't want to hear it - consequently they put up a privacy fence they knew i didn't want & i kicked them off land i was letting them use as an enlarged dog run
It's an old-fashioned verb form.
now it's just devolved into petty stuff
wow...i thought i'd tried that...thanks!
I just said that, Haz. But I forgot to say what word I was clueing. LOL
but, i have experience working in a psychiatric hospital, so i just pretend they don't exist anymore & hope they move soon
thanks for letting me gripe
I don't think people will mind, Jacula.
Helen - I've got a bit lost with your explanation there. Who's the unfeeling cad? The neighbour's hubby?
fireworks!!
yes - the neighbor's husband - he's completely arrogant
Well done, littlebit.
Congratulations littlebit.
Ah! I understand now. I was sure you couldn't be saying your hubby was an unfeeling cad.
So, it's neighbour's hubby who's the problem?
she's as sweet as could be but doesn't have 2 brain cells that fire in unison - it finally dawned on me they make a perfect match, he's a total control freak & she never thinks for herself - if she did she wouldn't be in her emotionally abusive relationship
yep jacs - that's right!
my guy walked out on her mother's 92nd birthday party cause he was making 'comments' about his wife's private woman parts - but this is just par for the course, been going on since i met them 20 years ago
Helen - that's true. It's a shame they have to live next-door to you, though. My neighbours are the other way around - although he's not so sweet either if she's got a bee in her bonnet and he's had a drink.
tyvm
I'm safe to speak 'cos they don't have the internet. LOL
they've always been great to me - but the last couple of years, since he quit smoking & my guy & her have gotten closer, he's been petty & mean - my guy will talk to anyone, he's the original 'chatty cathy' :)
LOL jacs!
I'm just going to shut my old pc down. I've been transferring stuff across onto this new one most of the evening.
ok jacs - see ya later
Oh heck! Hot flush time. *fans self*
Is there a decommissioning? Like with Britannia?
I've not gone, Hell. I only slid across the desk.
Hello all. *SIGH* 52 to go. Do I do this or watch TV?
i can't tell if i'm coming down with the flu today or just having more than normal # of hot flashes
hiya scrabbs
Haz - There will be... eventually. Not until son has put XP onto this new pc though. He went and put Windows 2000 Professional on it whilst we were on holiday, because he couldn't be bothered to ring us to ask where the XP disk was. You can't overwrite a Professional one with an ordinary one.
Hello Scrabbler. This is more of an adventure than TV. You'll find words beyond your wildest imagination.
Not without wiping the hard drive or buying XP Professional.
ta6-7 combo please?
Hello, Scrabbs and Callie.
Oh dear, it all sounds complicated. But at least you know what you are doing.
OK, Hazel, you reeled me in. I shall stay here and find my 52 words.
Callie is lying down right behind me, as usual.
Hell - let's hope it's not 'flu.
Well now,the ta6/7 combo is probably the strangest. Take a seat.
**readjusting butt in seat**
Use the first ta4/8 - add a masculine personal pronoun. Then plural it.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then Haz will begin...
Whoa, what the heck does ta6 mean?
I had monkeyed the ta4/8 before it.
hi everyone! may i have a clue for the first la5?
It's a flightless bird from NZ apparently.
It's a Maori word for a rare New Zealand flightless bird, Notornis mantelli.
la5 - la plus the start of Mr Onassis.
L + double vowell + let 'er **p
ta7 is the plural.
Ah, Notornis mantelli, yes, of course.
You're nodding gravely, Scrabbler, as one who knows.
Well, that wasn't much of a 'Listen with Mother'. Shall we try again with nu7? *grins*
The last ta5 please?
thank you Haz, firewords
Well done, dawg.
Yahooo dawger!!
yay for lbd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ta5/18 - ta plus a description of narrow's opposite, removing one letter.
Congratulations lbd.
kewl video
now then, where was i?
We had great fun with nu7 earlier.
TY, Hazel. I do recall seeing that word here before.
ah yes, australia!
Somewhere west, hurshy.
Hello, Hursh.
I will take a clue for nu7, TY.
drat these k's!
Do you want to go first, Jacula?
clue for the nu 7, please
Okay, Scrabbs. nu7 is a mountan entirely ringed by a glacier but it sounds like a violent version of a Whoopie Goldberg film. 'Sister Act III - The Nuns With No Mercy'.
The k won't even konfine itself to beginning words. It appears EVERYWHERE.
Imagine being assaulted by a holy sister.
Is that an Inuit word?
You got the word, Scrabbs? Wonderful!
Probably not too difficult for those who attended convent schools - or so I'm told.
let me see, one ke, one kh, 2 kr - more of any of those?
Haz - Yes. Oh dear.
Anyone want to clue the last 4 UN words? i.e. I found the first of the 5.
Scrabbs - yes, it is an Inuit word.
There are two ke words.
I realy need help with the last la 4.8 please
ah thanks haz
are there any KL?
la4/8 - ascending bird
un + the planet we live on. Then past tense then present verb tense. Final un is un5 - to knock one's cap off.
NO!
No, kl words.
hurrah, i have finished the k's! that is good for morale
lovely haz one of my favorite pieces of music
that covers all the u's except the one i'm missing, lol
It's special, isn't it, ruru?
TY, Jac! And I found the planet words that I had missed.
You must be missing the first one, hursh. Like 'beneath' but with a missing tail.
hii everyon
Hi Ping
Hiya, Ping.
hi jacula and scrabbler
y/w, Scrabbs.
Hello ping.
whew
hi haz
Hot flush, hursh?
PING
hi ping
hi there DAWG
sh5 before orca?
hk yahoo!
no, just glad that the u is gone
i HOPE sc is not comparing an orca to jaws
Scrabbs - thou sh*** not... think 10 Commandments.
TY, Jac. I overlooked Olde English.
clues tonight are quite fun to read.
A whale is a mammal. A sh5/20 is a fish.
ne7? It does not seem to be related to ne5.
ne7 - neither acid nor alkaline.
boooo, interrupting law and order for baseball!
It's not related to anything. It's strictly impartial, Scrabbler.
Glad you're having fun reading the clues, dawg.
TY, ONCE AGAIN, Jacula! 30 more clues to go.
Yes, like Switzerland during WW2, Haz.
And Eire as well.
Keep asking, Scrabbs. I'm here for a while yet.
7 left... to list, or not to list?
ra5 after tantrum
Hang in there, hursh. You are so close.
Oh, yes. Forgot that, Haz. My Mum had to get a passport in WW2 as she was supposed to be sent there. In the end her Mum decided to keep the 3 of them (as there were then) at home.
just two he words?
ra5 after tantrum = rodent plus Mr. Bundy or Mr. Gore's first name.
scrabs, rodent + mr. gore
aha, yes, i'm pulling all these peris tonight
TY, Jac + dawg
Yes, just 2 he.
evenin'
One he is warm and the other is funny.
hi cliff
Hello, cliffopa. Haven't seen you in ages!
Hello cliffopa.
now i miss 3 A, 2 T, and one S
and one of 'em is a 7
Hi cliffopa. Did Aurora's nose heal up OK?
s6/33 - Biblical money, maybe?
so... are there any A7's?
nope have the money.
my computer crashed a couple weeks ago. only get on when my husband doesn't need his laptop.
There are no a 7 words.
help with la5-10 please
No s 7 either
ok then! is it an s7 or a t7?
hi scrabbler - thanks for asking about aurora. her nose is healing up fine and we finally figured out how it got sliced.
Must be ta7 you are missing, hursh. It's the plural New Zealand bird.
t7!
plural la 4/5
Hello to all you babblers!
How, cliffopa?
na 5/10 clue
Hi Nonnie
Hello Nonnie.
Hello, Nonnie.
l + double vowel + another vowel
na5/10 = a province in South Africa or to do with birth.
thanks jac. got it right away
kiwi bird... ummm... i'll google
ruru, i have that for la5-12
y/w, ruru.
You obviously weren't paying attention when we were clueing Scrabbler for the ta6. (sadly shaking head)
some carpet got torn up in the doorway of our guestroom when I had some foster cats staying in there. aurora liked poking her nose under the door and playing 'pawsies' with the other cats. turns out there were a bunch of exposed tacks - i discovered them when i happened to step on one. bizarre!
just like last night! however, google has helped.
LOL, Haz. We should warn them that Questions WILL Be Set Later.
Poor little kitty. But she is better.
I know, you'd think they'd pay attention....
oh sorry... try L + double vowell + let er **p
haz,i read your safari guide.it was great.that particular safari won't suit me as i'm in a wheelchair but i have heard of 3 day ones where you stay in hotels, plus i've got my husband who(excuse language)is built like a brick ****house which is great for me because he can carry me about.it would be great for the bairn to see a school in Africa and see how lucky she is.thanks again.
ty ruru
how are your bunnies scrabbler?
I hope you get it sorted out, lilliann - it's a wonderful experience.
Sorry, I forgot to include a consonant in the clue for the first la5.
Cliff, our little girl kitty is named Aurora also! Her brother is called Boris. :o)
i can't wait to go.by the way everyone, hi!
tr 5 clue, please
My bunnies are all well, and keeping me busy.
Ouch, cliffopa! When one of our fence panels was down for a while, the neighbour whose garden it sided on to put that metal carpet gripper bar stuff down to stop our cats going through. We kept turning it over and she kept turning it back sharp side up... until I told her I would be sending her any vet's bills that might come from that.
My mother's name is Aurora.
nonnie, is your aurora a princess? mine believes she is.
botheration. i do NOT like a5's.
tr5 - to cast a net?
My mother believes she is a queen.
oh jacula - i can't believe what some people will do.
got one!
Thing is, the fence is actually their responsibility, not ours, but, some years ago, they put up those awful Leylandii fir trees and said they wanted nothing more to do with fences. We put a fence up then to keep the dog in.
haha--why yes, she does!
thx, haz
One of the a5 consists of two pairs of vowels with a consonant between,
ahahhahaa--scrabbler :o)
intriguing, haz
BBS.
Guten Abend, Babblers. Scrabbler I need to share something with you AND Jacula about bunnies
hello inge
10 points you'll get from that one, hurshy.
got it! what a wacko
Yippee, a bunny story.
Good evening everyone... how is the grid?
how many points are there in this grid altogether?
1948, hursh
1948 points.
haz - thanks for the clue. what a wierd word!
Not so easy, DR, but dive in and ask for clues eagerly.
Hello, inge. A bunny story? Do go on...
hi inge and dr1965
I know, cliffopa. Sometimes you just have to be amazed.
My German penpal sent me a news picture of a new sport in northern Europe called Kaninhop (bunny hop?). Bunnies are trained to jump over barriers like dogs and horses and compete for best time
22 then... so, the four is even. 4 and 18... 6 and 16... 8 and 14...
Thanks Scrabs
if i use the k, i can't use any 2 pointers
good to start with dr, then it gets alot worse!!
inge, i'll bet that is really cute to see
Are we in the realms of a still?
I have seen videos of contests in which bunnies jump and go through a jump course, with the owner leading the bunny on a leash. It was from Denmark, or somewhere in Europe.
The sport is common in Scandinavia and is takign over Germany
thanks lilliann. I will dive in and hope for the best
Seems reasonable. Bunnies are quite agile.:)
Hello, DR.
aslong as the bunnies enjoy it.
Well, I just have a newspaper photo. Would have never recognized the animal if it were not for the description
Hi Jac! How are you today?
I had to get extra-high gates because both Gandalf and Tucker demonstrated their jumping skills with regular gates.
same goes for the w
do they like that sort of thing?i've never had a rabbit so wouldn't know.
I'm fine, thanks, DR. And you?
ka5 after the green vegetable that bunnies love?
Maybe you can make your bunnies pay for their own medical bills by having them win those contets???
Hello cliffopa,DR1965 and inge! How are you all doing?
Great idea, Inge!
lilli - Bunnies love jumping over things... especially gates put up to stop them reaching fruit and veg patches.
Has anyone heard from Fran? I was wondering how she is doing.
i'm great minver...and you?
hi, again
I am tired but happy it is Friday!
Not sure they really like being on a leash/lead though.
I have not seen Fran since the tragedy.
First teach yours, Scrab, to job over the door gate

I think Fran's still in Guam with her family. She has read our messages and does appreciate them.
Go Hursh go!
Hi, scrabs

Hi Pam

Night, lilli. *Sits there, all lonely, only 'Brit' left.
Good night, lilliann!
me too, Gute Nacht!
Whatever seems interesting, Pam. Sabres (hockey) are playing. Law & Order maybe. See everyone tomorrow.
Good Night Scrabbler!
'Night inge and Scrabbs.
gotta watch the red sox
and lilli
go to bed then jac. i won't sleep yet as hubby snoring and i'm wide awake, but i'll read for a while.
*sniffs armpits* They seem okay - I haven't been knocked out.
Night, scrabs
I feel the same way Jac!
lilli - Can't sleep yet as I was reading in bed until 3.30am last night and so slept in late. Other Half's on nights this week.
What are you reading, Jac?
Goodbye Scrabbler! I will see you tomorrow in the log
i was up until 3am then had to get up with bairn this morning for school as hubby was working away.usually have to lie down as i suffer from dizzy spells, but fine today for a change.
Pam - you should go to Goodreads to see that. LOL. Elissa's Castle by Juliet Greenwood. It's different and, so far, I like it! She's normally a short story writer for UK women's mags and it shows, but the extended thought processes in her first novel form appeal to me.
must have been a good book jac.
lilli - I found it most interesting, but was looking at it with my writer's hat on... the style is one, like my present style, that I thought might not sell. But it works.
LOL, Jac! I can't figure that site out very well and/or quickly... Sounds like a good book....
I've been published a lot in the past but, since my divorce etc., found my writing style for fiction was either lost or changed. Seems I may have a voice after all.
so what do you write jac?
pam - glad you're back. I've been leaving messages for you here, there and everywhere. The link for the migraine hat is not in my bio for you.
what books have you written that i can get?
Poetry, short fiction, also was an illustrator.
Probably none, lilli. It's been so long. Not finished a novel yet, but have hope I may do one day.
how can i get hold of them?
Also articles and series relating to cats, dogs, history, grammar etc.
you have to jac, so we can all read them.
Wow, thanks, Jac! I seem to have had one whole day-and- a -half pain- free----no hyphens, I
ISBNS from the British Library, lilli.. author name 'Lily Frances' for most of them.
hello, 75 to go!
Sorry--was going to say that no hyphens would have given that sentence more "punch"
Hi Harpjane
I also wrote, must lucractively, and for fun, for the rash of women's 'erotica' magazines that emerged in the 80's/90's.
i'm going to the library on monday and i'll look jac.
hello, jane!
That doesn't look right *Consults spelling dictionary* Lucratively... Oh, it is right. Doesn't LOOK right, though.
I hadn't noticed...I was focusing on the word "erotica".
pam - Have you found the link to the migra-cap now?
go harp go!
Yes, I have been perusing it, Jac. Very strange looking!
LOL, nonnie. Those were such fun to write. I thought to myself, 'Can I write a bog-standard mucky story or two, or three, or more?' I could and I laughed out loud for real at times as I wrote them.
I think I've hit the brick wall with this one. I'm stuck on 70.
I laughed even louder as the cheques rolled in.
jacs - i looked at that migra-cap - have you tried it? is it heavy?
hi fellow babblers
Hi HK and Shdy
hi shdy
hi dr
hi dr
hi all
hi helen, good to see you
hiya tim
hi tim
Hi TIm
Helen - I don't suffer from migraines - only ever had one when computers were first introduced into my workplace in the 80s and breaks had not been thought of.
So, not tried the cap.
just been online to my local library who get books from all over the county but they don't have any of yours jac.
sh 5/20 the second one not the vibrate one
jac! nice to see ou
Hello,. shdy.
nm
how have you been, jac?
Jaws, ruru.
I think I'm going to call it a night. Take care all.
great white RURU
Jac, you are lucky not to get them. Jeadaches stink
hmmmm - well then jacss -do you know what 40lb translates into american money?
Good night, nonnie
And bad headaches stink more
Okay, Nonnie. Sleep well.
40lb is a weight not a currency, hel.
there's a converter on the site, hk., just doing that now
nighters, pam and thank you, jac. <poof>
the cap looks interesting - i get migraines & sometimes midrin helps, other times not so much - but cold & dark ALWAYS help alleviate, but if the thing is heavy then i'm sure i'd be annoyed by it
81.71, HK
i am just coming home from a day at LSU, where I work every day. It is madness today, and will be again.
i use to suffer from migraines and be on so many different tablets and i saw a consultant, and it ended up being hereditery.my mam and nan had them, but as i've got older, luckily enough, i only get 1 or 2 a yaer now.which i can handle.
Why, shady?
niters nonnie
thanks pam - jacs is being a PILL - she knows what i mean
sh5/14 the last one
That's great, lillian. Congrats on less headaches
I hate cold on my face and head... But it can help my sinus pain
Actually, I wasn't, Hell. Sorry.
The hat weighs 40 pounds?
migraines are always stress related for me - had more this year than in past 10 years put together
i hope it gets better for you pam.
Oh, that is so sad, hk
My Other Half gets stress-related migraines. Bad day at work = migraine.
no never mind jacs :)
why madness? The whole footvall thing, crazy fans, tradition of tailgaiting....apparently cbs did morning at Lsu today to talk about tailgaiting (I've never been). biggest game in ncaa tomorrow... sheesh
the hat COSTS 40 pounds
Oh! The hat costs £40? I thought the weight was way beyond!
AHHHHH, shady, I see....
£40 is about $20.
silly brits have same word for weight & currency - it would be like saying i weigh a dollar and fifty six cents, lol
Sorry, Hell. Truly, I'd lost the plot. I wasn't being a PILL.
well is it $20 or $80 - cause that would make a big difference
sh 5.14 the last one anybody?
No, lbs = pounds in advourdupois weight (imperial weight). £ = money.
anyway,my book is waiting and hubby will moan that i've gone to bed late.goodnite everyone and take care of yourselves.
that's ok jacs - you are a natural pill, you're a perfectionist
sh + finale, ruru.
niters lil
'Night, lilli.
hmmmmmmm, i don't seem to have s brit keyboard either, lol
What book was it?
oh I had that I am missing the 6/33 I marked off the wrong one
sh 6/33?
Hell - you remember this time last year we were talking about the cavity wall insulation we were getting here in UK? It works! Doesn't help my night flushes/flashes one bit!
ne5?
nite, lilli
sh 6/33 word is plural of the sh 5/20 word rururocks.
Hello rururocks! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
yep - i sure do remember, & you're right it was just about this time cause that's when i was having my roof done
sh6/33 = what you might get if you ask for plural banana, strawberry etc., milk drinks.
ne 5/12 is underne*** (below) harpjane & hello to you
Or if you are an alcoholic and can't get a drink.
thanks
that is the first 6/33 I need the second one
Roof still all okay, Hell?
hey jacs - i went with a dark green color for my roof & the neighbor (that we're fighting with now) well he didn't like that color, but now the people across the street from him got a new roof & they must have really liked my color cause that's what they got too *settles back smugly*
Workmen all gone, Hell? You've not trapped one in the airing cupboard for 'future use'?
sh6/33 is green monster minus the hook letter plus a vowel plus stick letter rururocks.
hahaha jacs - that would be good, can always use a worker around here as hubby is allergic to most household repairs/cleaning etc
You mean you didn't trap yourself a factotum, Hell? You slipped up there, girl!
I played a few games of boggle. I saw teambabble for just one game. Was that you Jacula or someone else?
All my trapped factotum's have retired now.:( Must seek young blood... heh, heh. (Last 2 words clue he4/6, btw.)
Min - Hi. No, not me this time. Hursh maybe?
I need three ar clues
ar4/8 = ar + a + 5 point tile.
ar5/10 = Disney's Little Mermaid.
ar4/5 = the Mermaid minus her 'e'.
ar5/10 = paintings etc., + Mr. Gore or Mr. Bundy.
That concludes the ar words.
could you elaborate on the mermaid
ar 5/10 is ar*** from the Little Mermaid rururocks.
I don't know the little mermaid
I don't have kids soorrrry
ar 5/10 is ar plus 2 vowels plus stick letter rururocks
Does anyone have a clue for the aa 5/10 word please
Okay, ruru - it sounds like a receiver you have on your roof for TV.
10 to go - be back in a bit
I don't have kids either, but I have nieces & nephews
well, be back after minver get her word, i need that too
aa5/10 = aa + upright consonant + double 3rd vowel ending.

paintings, sculptures... Tate Gallery stuff + Mr. Gore or Mr. Bundy.
Well done, ruru!
Congratulations rururocks on fireworks! Good for U!
Does anyone have a clue for the aa 5/14 word please
au4/5 (female relative) is one word I never see until the last moment. Maybe because none of my au4's were very nice, bar one, and I've not become one myself re first marriage and birth lines. However, I guess, checking out my very lovely new Other Half's family, I could be an au4 3 times over, thanks to his sister.:)
4/5 yesterday Minn
or past tense is better worded lol
aa5/14, Min = sighed with pleasure. (Think sinking feet, hurt by new shoes, in a bowl of water after a day at work.)
an 5/10 please
ak5,18 please?

y/w, Mel. Glad you got it from that.
la 5/20 please
mel, it's the plural of la4,9 above... do you have that one?
la5/20 is plural la4/9 before it, which means one hundred thousand.
I tried the secone vowel monkying it missed the 1st vowel somehow
ick no Brook
la + 5-point tile + first letter of a man.
the great ***es (such as erie, huron, etc.) + consonant
(2 letter word for a man, that is)

The words aren't dumb, unless they are silly compounds, Mel.
dh6,24 please?
Or, rather, silly, made-up, modern compounds like 'toeshoe'.
dh6/24, it grives me to have to clue is like Dh**m* and Gregg. TV prog. Different consonant, though.
*grieves

nu7 is a mountain ringed by a glacier. Sounds like a violent Whoopie Goldberg film. 'Sister Attack III - Nuns With No Mercy@
And, before anyone asks, ne7 is neither acid nor alkaline.

$10 a clue, methinks, since I saw that fee discussed earlier on the chatlog.
un8 - digs up
un + 3rd rock from the sun
ha4/6 is a hidden fence that sounds very funny.
then add consonant at end
LOL log lagging
LOL log lagging evil msn acting up all PM
It was given that name, Brookie, because we Brits thought it amusing to see people, unobservant people, who fell off/over it whilst 'in their cups'.
la 5/10 please and no fish! lol
i'm now back for the finish i hope
thanks jac, still pondering it. Maybe I shouldn't play babble when braindead? (Of course, that cuts out most of the week...)
hi pingy
Hello Ping! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle

go, nrkii, go!
I finished YEARS ago Jac... LOL thanks to miracles of being home all day

stid, you want her real name?
or her babble name?
go ping and dr!
stid - being the home mama is magic, is it not?
her babble name, if you know it
not when the kids are home sick, Jac! *sigh*
looking through the rankings to try to remember...
go Ping Go
can anyone help w/ the sa 6/24?
Toad&toadete are overdue for their baby, but I've not seen a Babbler giving birth yet in the log.
past tense of the sa 4/5 before it
sa 6/24: past tense fabric belt
past tense of sa4/5
i remember there were a number of summer due dates - feather, kris
feather's baby is here./
lol...i don't have that one, either!
yes, but I don't think she told us. I only knew to be looking because she posted about doing up the nursery in her blog! LOL
Don't know about kris's baby.
sash
shucks!!!
thats the one :)
i hate when i do that!!!
thats the one trueheart
Kris's baby is here. Waiting on firefly's still (as far as I know)
firefly - that's who i was thinking of
can you see me blushing?
someone just had a baby last week I think
just don't remember who it was
So, will the time come when we get a newborn and potential new Babbler, born before our very eyes?
At least in words. Not on 'youtube', I hope.
oh I wouldn't want to hear the words... LOL at least not mine! I wasn't nearly so "polite" when my kids were being born.
its ok trueheart.. we all do it :)
Mind you, this is a family site. Could it deal with all the 4-letter words the mother in progress might yell?
trueheart, you can spend time in the penalty box if it makes you feel better... *offers chocolate to numb the pain*
thanks...my boy's got chickenpox and i've got a kidney infection...it's been a rough day!
oohhope you both feel better trueheart
help with the i word please?
that sounds like a day in the penalty box, true heart
oh trueheart... so sorry. our younger son had chickenpox (or something very like) for the second time post-vaccination last month!
That's rough {{{HUGS}}}
Haing said that, calling your baby's father's parentage into question, which is a ba7, might not make the family site grade.
nrk: bobby burns' word for "each"
thanks...he's not too bad, just sleepy. i've got good meds now, so i should be better soon!
il** lad must have his lassie
I got chicken pox when my youngest one got them - it was horrible
yeah, he's been vaccinated and i homeschool him, so i was shocked!
nice, thanks stid!
(il + consonant + vowel)
I never had chickenpox but had shingles when I was 13.
no fun
when both my brothers had chicken pox.. all three of us were miserable
you can be exposed to the virus and not show the obvious signs of the pox, but still get shingles. That really stinks, DR.
Chicken pox can evacuate whole holes out of your skin. It's nasty!
I hope your kidneys recover fast trueheart -- does drinking lots of water help? I only know about bladder problems, myself.
Yes, Stid.. It was awful!!
The virus sits in your spinal cord... just waiting for you to get stresssed. Then it manifests... in many horrible ways.
When my older two got them the whole neighborhood had them at the same time (all the kids - about 20 of them) so we didn't have to try to keep them away from each other
yeah, it does, but it's painful to go, so... i'm not realy excited to drink a lot of water!
the youngest one wasn't born yet -when she got them I caught them from her and so did 3 of her teachers
i'm trying to be brave...
ta 7/6 combo?
that's a blessing at least saphyre -- hard to keep them still as they start to feel better! LOL
please?
trueheart, it's much much worse if you don't drink water
did you get any peridium? ... makes you go orange, but relieves the pain within a half-day
i know... i'm working on it!!
ta 6/33: ta + first two letters of japanese writing (5pt letter) + male pronoun; then plural
trying to figure out how to clue it ping
Adam's Ale in abundance is needed, re the pox.
what is Adam's Ale?

Adam's Ale is probably a UK term.
that's what i was thinking...it's cute!
Well glad to learn something new anyway, thanks Jac :)
stid - stop your wicked grinning or I wilkl strike you down! *ultra evil grin*
trueheart, your kid is sweet -- *hides from Jac behind new best friend true*
lol...yes he is! now don't get me in the middle of anything!

ty
Ok -- it's not the best, but I don't have that many recent pix of the two of them together.... I will have to fix that
kr 5: one looks like afrikaans word for "corral"

Very True Stid

once seen in perspective
I am going to go watch cartoons with my kid and then put him to bed... might be back for the flip.. night all
13 K words... only one i word
there weren't too many fishies in the list for me after I got it. just the three in the grid. *grin*
