More than that they don't care or need to now about. They will write to an employer to get confirmation you do work there and what your earning are. Do not worry about the job in a future context.

Incidentally - the phrase kick the bucket comes from farmers killing pigs. They would slit theeirnthroats and then hang them on the bucket bar to die. Hence, the term, 'Kick the bucket' for 'to die'.
