oh, the fu7/8 combo, much of my family does that for a living.
lol infernal!
I think I know the first 4 letters of the big fu words, but can't get the rest
I cant even see the Fu next letter
we had a guy in our platoon when i was in the Marines who had the last name Fu. The drill instructors would mess with him. "Spell your last name recruit?" His response really loud: "Sir, F-U, sir!" Then he'd have to do push-ups.
oh, what fun today's puzzle is compared to yesterday!
the FU words are cool, they use the whole grid practically.
lol corsp
LOL, that's great, corps.
Well that doesnt help
no kidding dc
Which fu up or bottom?

mom's side of the family are either undertakers or pipefitters, which i find apropo, as their name is Spilker, Bavarian variant of standard German Spiller, meaning Spinner.

dc, it means that a German is saying rijk
hello, folks
okay, that's what i thought.
hi all
Hi Babble
hi mva!
hello again everyone!
and 'rijk' means -dom, like in kingdom or earldom
my family came from Holland in the 16th century to England, family name was Gutreich, which is why i asked.
hi MVA and wb Fran
lol, dc... it is no longer dutch though, it is german. Dutch word is 'rijk'
hi fran and sprite
not sure if it also means 'rich' in german. In dutch it does.
hi, mva
that makes sense, the dual meaning, sprite
it does :)
hi dc
Hi Fran
Reich does mean rich in German, too. The primary meaning is empire, kingdom, state -- as in Deutsches Reich...

ata, those are soooo cute!
oh, that is rude.
Woolworths and Amazon
Well it was rude that the performance was interrupted but there was more of a snafu with media organising.
there are Woolworths in Britain? Of the US or the AUS chain?
dc, i'm still trying to figure out what dessert you thought i had. :-)
Must check woolies.
woolies is british! I think the US version is different
lol dc, and you are telling me that because...?
We had in kmart Spuder Man black and red versions. I also have Darth tater, Spud trooper and RD2tator. With princess tater
loosk like an ambrosia, franmag, a common concoction here in the South, it's cream and fruit geletain and/or jelly.
sometimes fruit, nuts, or candy is added, too.

As my boyfriend says Drop Bears.
it was a joke, lady
Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben! Hope everyone is having a good day today.
they're evil incarnate on one of the artoons i used to watch. They'd be munching their eucalyptus, then attack and/or eat passersby.

thanks dc, i was missing the SWs. :-)
grrrr
LOL sprite
Thanks
Is anyone having server issues?
you, I think, lady
speaking of ambrosia dc (even if we weren't), do they make it with shredded pineapple, marshmallows and walnuts in your parts?
Yep need to put on my armored butt i think
that's my favorite kind
omg Fran, that sounds criminally delicious
chunk pineapple, marhmallow, shredded coconut, and walnuts is a common combo, usually in a base of raspberry gelatin and cream.
that's just part of it, add whipped cream sprite and bits of gelatin.
i've never had shredded pineapple. i'll have to buy one and try it.
oh... I hate whipped cream. But the rest sounds great. Real food for the gods.
no raspberry in this one, it stays white with flecks of yellow.
oh, that sounds incer
definitely will give that a go.
sprite, puree tofu in a food processor with powdered sugar and vanilla to taste to make a lovely vegan substitute for whipped cream.
i have a tofu-based pumpkin pie i make also.
they have it in the grocery delis here, but everytime i get it i'm disappointed. the parties back home always had great desserts.
sigh
oh, must add some oil to the fake cream too, i use rapeseed usually.
you okay infernal?
does it taste really different, dc?
brb
it's similar to, but not exactly like the real thing. I puree the tofu and oil to the consistency i want, then add vanilla and sugar.
just had to go grumble at someone that was rude. THe issue is my neighbour uses our green bin which i have had to put inside our fence
sometimes i'll add a hint of maple syrup
whipped cream really puts me off, cannot eat it.
texture or flavour, sprite?
both!
what of custard?
almost as bad
*makes not not to make flan for sprite*
that's rude infernal
Ok so do you know what we call Vanilla Slice
what's vanilla slice? Here slice is a soda.
lol dc... not many things I really don't eat, but this is one :)
all good, we all have our things food-wise. :)
so no creme brulee either sprite?
It was a random person dumping a can in the green bin (um leaves) otherday someone dumped shoes in our recycling, dog poo in our bin so know all three are in the front yard and they are ugly to look at
lady, do we get the punchline?
I don't think so, but I never tried, Fran
at some point we will, dc :)
Dc Vinallia slice - Its like pastry and custard
i doubt you'd care creme brulee, sprite, it's like flan, but creamier, with a burnt sugar crust.
Vanilla slice is known in the trade industry as snot block
oh, that sounds delish, lady.
http://www.bourkies.com.au/
your connection problems are spreading infernal
This is a bakery that makes them
I had chocolate creme brulee for dessert tonight -- hi all -- very late flip!
HI Jill
jilli! *hug*
oh! that has a french or itailian name here, i forget what it's called, though.
hi, jilli!
hi jilli!
Annoying as. I have to also shift the bins and the 2 shopping carts i brought home. All we need is a car on blocks and we would have redneck city
hi everyone
you find it sometimes in italian restaurants and french bakeries.
HI Xankia

hi xanika!
Xankia Pam sends her wishes

Oh, thanks!

hi Xanika
I have to go back to school tomorrow!

that gave me problems too babrab. :-) hi!
great icon jilli!
yes, lady that's the french name, though the italian is more common around here.
HowDy, Fran
Hi jili

I hope you can manage them, Xanika. Good luck!
ty sprite
mrp, did you get Mama's email?
I have no emails from her
go to Im please...
I did have a long chat with her today thou.
in short, BabbleRabble: it is dark, with lots of down people acting upbeat because it has to be festive, it brings back lots of bad memories, and it is a month with lots of obligations and hectic things, while I feel the urge to go inside and be quiet, as nature demands.
morning everyone could i have todays stats please and any biggies
oh ok good then...
will shortly chic, just need to go collect the kids. give me about 5 min?
hi cool, 118, 4x8, 8x7
bbs :)
thanks sprite
hbmrp :)
Have you talked to anyone about S.A.D., sprite?
S.A.D., BabbleRabble? What is that?
seasonal affective disorder contributed to by a lack of sunlight and melanin production
will ask my doctor about it, thanks for the tip.
each year about this time I do two things. first, I talk about increasing meds or using a sunlamp
a sunlamp, now that is a good idea! And second?
and I write down what has contributed to the stress and expectations of xmas
a sunlamp and an increase in meds works better for me
I share with those that expect and remind myself what happened long ago does not have to haunt me now
and then I plot a course that accommodates my need to be alone.
that sounds good, BabbleRabble. I would handle it better if it were not necessary to celebrate it abundantly for the kids... I am more happy with a lot of candles, no tree, and no special meals, but quiet or music that calms me, and lots of introspection.
hey, so you need to be alone as well in those days? I'd love to spend Xmas in solitude, just allowing the tiny spark of light to be born into the darkest of nights.
christmas for many reasons was not a happy time
thank you very much for reaching out to me and sharing this. I appreciate it very very much.
but that was then and this is now
same here... it is important for me to learn to leave the past in the past.
I can choose an accommodation among competing demands
sprite -- see http://tinyurl.com/4r8xg -- and if you google seasonal affective disorder there are many other sites
you have struggled through a lot, that speaks clearly from your words. I hope I can learn to be able to choose as well, in time.
thanks to you too, jilli, good link. Will go see my doctor about med increase and light. And of course continue to work on the memory-related issues.
I wrote a letter to the editor complaining about an editorial and received a response suggesting I was a few columns short of a page.
I responded by saying Ok, but what's your point ... am waiting to hear hehehe
lol babrab
LOL BabbleRabble!

oh, not plural, person doing it
ach -- add another flying fish
i have one xanika, wi4/10, thin and flexible
thanks fran and sprite

not getting that wi5, though
second fu8 is all the things associated with a fu7, same first 6 letters then add two letters that sound like a kind of dark bread
jilli: wi + to e** is hum*n
second fu 8 -- same first 7 as the other 8 and a kind of bread often ordered in delis: ham on **e
hi clown
wi ..just on a ....

lol Samantha... in babble it is! And you're welcome
ty dc and sprite -- was looking the wrong way

can i have another clue for the er7 please thats the one im missing
hmmmmm, that's a tough one to clue.
er 7 - europian river or part of germany: *****land
I was just going that direction with it; I'm glad you beat me to it
sam clued it at 3.15
got it thanks
morning all! how is everyone
hi granadan
cool, not the Rhone... the other river
So why do the people wo use Babble Express still say "fireworks" instead of "video"?
good day, granadan
I'm over halfway with no blank tiles and bed beckons -- night all
babble express? *looks blank*
good night. I am out of here too for a while
old habits
because we still see the fireworks under the grid :D
good night
Babble Express is a browser that Lickety created specfically to play Babble with
granada, it's a huge help -- email Lickey and he will tell you aboutit and send it to you if you have a PC and not a Mac
I haven't got it yet. I am told that, for example, if you enter a one-word message into chat, it puts it in the text box instead.
ah - is that wht I am desperately trying to get working on my computer? No matter how many times I redownload it says corrupted file
I thought it was Babble expert.
are there any z words
Is it? That would explain the confusion
Oh Jili, it is the same thing then,I just cnt get it working, I must be doing something wrong
there's no z in the grid, coolgirl
Sam. for a one-word message you hit Ctrl-Enter
there is at the top LMAO
That's what it says at the top of my page.
no z words coolgirl
Look at the top, Samantha.
D'oh! I'm not functional anymore. No, there are no zee words
goodnight all I clearly need to go get some sleep!
*sends big mug of coffee to Sam*
there are no words which start with Z
email lickety and ask him to send the file again, granadan
Sleep well!
I will do bbble.
hello, Haz
no zed words either ;)
Good morning Babble and everyone.
gran, tell him the trouble you're having

No, cool, there's just the one u word from the top.
And congratulations Xanika.
WTG Xanika!
I can see a single ey word....
thanks
Should have read CANT see
Think of Mr Rochester for one, then variations thereof.
TY!
You're welcome.
I don't know about anybody else but half of these words are making me feel dizzy.
yes Haz, my hea's in a w***l
Thats probably why it's so quiet Haz, everyone has fallen over.
Hello FMitch - could be the explanation, you're right.
*head, sorry dyslexic fingers today!
A frosty morning with you?
All well with you? and glittery spangle?
it really cheeses me when demanding people do not fully fill out their forms. Hmph.
hello, all. :)
Mild and overcast here. Hi dc and mum
Yes, we're fine. I'll have to tear myself away to get ready to go out. Winter woollies time, though it's bright.
howdy, FMitch. We're finally getting some rain here, puddles and all. :)
dc, I just send the forms straight back, makes them do it properly the next time when they have to wait for things!
Morning, Haz, how goes? Hello, mummy.
this is a pig of a grid can anyone help me with the 2nd fu8 please?
i did send the forms back, mummy. It's one of the things about my job that i really like. Petty bureaucrat suits me well. :)
Ah yes of course Tursday. My coffee is almost finished so I will be off soon too. Just wanted to wave the flag!
grana, would help but I haven't got it..
relating to the industry of the other fu8, granadan
Try saying it after a wake, Irish style.
TY !
lol
Not that I would know anything about it, being from the uptight prodisent tradition.
got it, dead loss word
Right, off I go before I get into trouble! I'll be back later. Bye for now!
ciao, haz!
Bye, have a good day
Will do!
bye bye Haz see you later, I've got to go as well, get showered and dressed before lunch! having a lazy day off
later, mummy
bye haz
the silence at this hour never ceases to amaze me.
Blame those time zones dc
true, most asleep or just waking here and most asleep in anzac, and it's mid-business day there.
well 10am but yes the working day has started, which reminds me I must love and leave you too. You are in charge now :)
until later, then :)
Byee *poof*
finally done! :D
Congrats Dcseain
and good morning, did you have a nice couple of days off?
ty, mom, how are you this fine morning?
actually worked a day shift yeasterday, but yes i enjoyed my time off.
pretty good, and you
that's right, I remember you saying that
pretty well, ty. I'm meeting a friend for breakfast after work, which is nice, i'm not often social on days i work.
that will be a nice time. No, you probably want to go home and sleep
well, go home, feed the cats and sleep :)
of course, have to feed the cats
i usually give the rabbit some fresh hay, too.
hello everyone :)

we has a rabbit for several years, but it got cancer
oh, hello then, mrp!
HI LIckety, always a pleasure
i'm sorry to hear.
Hi Mrp, good morning
mine has been going through periods of hiding, and periods of being social at me.
it has been a few years ago, but don't want another
that's sweet
he recentl stripped a whole section of my vacuum power cord, happily, only the outermost wrapping.
so must store the varuum where he cannot get to it, not in the room he's mostly in anymore.

yes. he was shy of them for a bit after getting zapped, but it didn't last. :\
I would imagine so
it's fun watching the younger cat and him play, though.
i thought she was terrorizing him, til i saw him initiating it sometimes.
I bet it is cute

She is my darlingheart! the best doggie in the world!!
I think I will go back to bed, I have another hour before I need to start getting the family up. Dcseain, enjoy your breakfast. Bye bye MrP, enjoy your day. {{Hugs}}

i'd like to think so, yvo. Good morning.

thank you kindly ,be back later byee
dcs, I like your livejournal page... is it easy to use? and do you get much response from it?
i like the interface, herin uses LJ also, and so does...oh, i forget who she is on here :">
some posts get no response, not infrequently the ones i most want response to, others get a plethora of resonse.
i've met a lot of really neat people through it.
some even in person. :)
my friend nancy reposted a filk on Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love: http://tinyurl.com/2fqbc7
very cool! I do alot of poetry and writing myself. Would love to share it
Suzette Haden Elgin does some of her writing through LJ. We helped her edit some of her poems for her recently publist 21 Novel Scienc Fiction Poems. She's ozarque on LJ.
she writes about eldering, linguistics, sci-fi, mostly. had a nice series about her fear of cows a while back.
did a nice series entitled "My Life as a Martian", about her time in France with her first husband, who was French.
oh very interesting! :)
and she has a fabulous community of readers and commenters.
she's one of the journals through which i've forged some relationships, and cemented a few others.
you can set up a free account on LJ if you'd like to try it out, or they have a level that lets you see ads for more functionlity
i pay the US$20/yr for full functionality and no ads.
hm. supervisor is late, she's usually here at 6. Traffic must be bad due to the rain.
how do you invite people to be a friend?
basically, let them know you're there. Many of us dislike their use of 'friend', as really, one is subscribing to the journal, and using friend really loads the 'unfriending' in a bad way when one dumps a subscriber.
when i first set up my account, i commented in other's journals, and didn't post for about 4 months.
but, everyone is different, so your mileage/methodology may vary :)
Hi can anyone give me a heads up on that er7 plz?
oh fair enough! will do
er7, mistake + wh5/20 -w
mrp, do friend me if you sign up
ah - ty I got it now.
oh, glad to hear, sandie.
you found the fu8s
i like the way the fish look, i think i'll make it into a journal icon, maybe for my nature posts, though mostly i go to the mountains to hike/camp.
am signed up
will come back to it tomorrow. Need to start this grid and then head off to bed
cool!
if you go to my info page, there are some icons in a row, the rightmost one lets you friend me.
leftmost, sorry
will do dcs!
i here for a bit if any of yall need clues.
yes plz - that last li4/6 - just can't monkey it.
hm
li*seed, sometimes vowel
or, remove 2nd vowel from the 5 before it.
oh ty dcseain - I never thought of doing that!
i, OTOH, had trouble w/the 5, as keeping that vowes did not occur to me.
or that vowel, even
i officially declare the wh combo utterly ridiculous
and good morning everyone
morning, lideola, and i concur
Hey lideola!!!!
Oh haven't got to the wh combo yet.
its a silly yet mind taxing combo, i have 2 left that i have abandoned for later
ah well at least I know that I need to look for something weird then!
i'm happy to clue if you desire, lideola
I'd be glad to accept the clue as well dcseain!
ty- no need now- just doing my initial run through, i start to panic when i open up Lickety and still can't get the words. Thanks for the offer!
the Ws were odd today, normally, i finish that letter first, today it was among the last.
that is for the weird wh combo.
:)
wi5/18 threw me for a loop
ah! It's Irish English, hence, it's odd to me.
i wonder if the similar si is irish english
i am morefamiliar with the si
the si has no definition according to dictionary.com and google
yeah, i am more used to seeing it with an h at the end
dictionary suggest sie*** nevada.
si is an archaic form of address to a gentleman
h is an option
so glad that babble is around to keep the archaic and obsolete words alive!
obsolete —used as a form of address implying inferiority in the person addressed
G'd morning Babblers!
Hello, Lori.... please remember milk spelled backwards is klim
BabbleRabble- I have your Camus quote as an Autumn greeting on my business website... great minds and all that...
must run to do shift turnover, later, yall! {poof}
Ahh BR, you are a breath of fresh air. Remember, that Mom spelt backwards, is Mom.
Later dc, have a good one.
fall colors are nice
I think that would be moM
I stand corrected.
Well, that was something. The big grid is waaaaay overdue.
i wouldn't mind if the big grid waited until after halloween to make its appearance. Congrats LoriP
LOL I just hope the big grid is on my day off lideola. :-)
I'm off to Weboggle for a bit. Will pop in later. Have a good one all!
bye Lori
FIREWORKS!!!!! Not as hard as it looked.
wtg Sandi
ty lideola.
Still peeking. Congrats Sandie
Ty LoriP.
Does anyone need any help before I go to make lunch?
no, thanks Sandie
No thanks, i are done, and Boggling.
Ok - I'll go and chain myself to the stove then - byee babblers.
Have a good one Sandie
16 left after my first run through- be back later to break out the lickety- have a great day all!
Good morning/afternoon all.
Hello Haz
Hello Biltong - haven't seen you around so much since you got back from SA.
Been quite busy. Also been down with a bad ear infection. But should have more time available from now on. I have been checking on the grid most days.
The ear infection doesn't sound too good. Did it affect your balance?
good morning all
Yes. It is just an awful sensation. Also had what felt like "electric shocks" going through my body. It really wasn't fun.
Good morning flosey.
Morning flosey
It sounds horrible - hope you're fully recovered.
Not fully, but well on my way. Thanks, Haz.
*flops* hi all
It appears that a lot of our babble friends have been through hard times lately
Hello all
may I please have clues for the 8's
Hello Atalante and peri
Indeed, Biltong - some of the words here may make you dizzy -be warned!
Hello Atalante and peri.
ai8/40 - what propels you from one destination to another
oh ok, thanks for the warning :)
thanks Haz
fu88/60 - plural farewell to the dead
fu8/70 - begins as before, but change plural Mr Gore (at the end) for the last three letters of the Madonna.
got the fu8/60 thanks Haz
thanks Haz, got the fu8/70 too
mi8 - plural healthgiving accompaniment to vitamins.
Glad to help, peri.
thanks so much Haz, have all the 8's now
Just came in at the right time here....thank you Haz !!!
thank you, Haz
Hello Karys - strange that the 8s are fairly normal for such an unusual looking grid.
I can't seem to get going again after my first flurry ( oo, thats not there is it ? )
No flurry, but lots of spinning about.
got several of those !
dreadful news about those little boys on the motorway
I've been out, Karys, what happened?
Two little boys, 6 and 7, pushing their scooters across the motorway in the dark, yesterday evening.
Good gracious! Were they killed?
yes, hit by three cars
HIT BY 3 CARS
ooooops sorry, sily put caps lock on
I don't need to hear any more.... Isn't that horrendous?
Three cars....Wow. Not a single person could see them?
How awful!
Just so dreadful
And was no-one watching them at all?
Just out playing Uniquity
Motorways are very fast, Uniquity, they shouldn't have been anywhere near.
I understand that you can't always watch kids, i've been watching my brothers for years...but they never get to play near a road, let alone a motorway.
Apparently they had been warned about the motorway
You're right, Uniquity. It's horrible.
I think kids get a bit more autonomy here. There was a wood between their houses and the motorway, and they went adventuring in the woods, like usual. Just somehow ended up by the motorway
That's horrifying. My heart goes out to all involved.
Wow, I picked a terrible time to pop in. that breaks my heart.
Yes, Uniquity, you have to feel for the drivers too
sorry. Lori, it was my fault, it's just that the news in on at the moment.
Untimely, but Congrats on yet another grid completion #1!
hey all.
Not at all Karys. I'm a big girl. It's just so sad, that's all.
You're done Lori ?
Hello bfsog
Been done for awhile, Boggling and lurking LOL
G'd morning bf
terrible story :\
Congrats then !!!
Well done, Lori and hello bfsog
Thanks! #1 (Uniquity) has been finishing as well. She's hooked.... heh heh heh
could I have a clue for the second ar5 please?
Hey, I gave this to you in the first place...I just have less skill. So far.
Congrats to Uniquity too then !!!
Well done, Uniquity!
Double the consonat flosey.
thought I had tried it, thanks Lori
Flosey....sounds like French Capital
Yes indeed. i lay the blame for this addiction at your feet!
'Yer welcome, and g'd morning!
that word has been in before, never remember it
thanks Lori and Karys
Haz, I see what you mean about spinning about! More later. Bye everyone
Have to move away from the noise here, back when the kids have gone to school
I did warn you! See you later.
Later Bit. Take care of 'yerself.
son has a row of 4 computers here for grandson and friends to use so they congregate here
And time I made some lunch. I'll check back later. A wave to eirelaV, lurking.....
Good morning Babblers .... wow almost a 1/2 hour without any chatting
Good morning
A beautiful day in your neighborhood?
Good morning Merk
It is a gray, windy day, but a fine one just the same
how are things in your neck of the woods?
everyone's hiding from the grid lol
Good morning Ata
I have made it to the halfway mark, doubt I will finish today though
I will finish, but it'll be hard work!
I have some other things I have been neglecting around the house this week that I must get done today
oh the pressure ... lol
It is sunny and crisp this morning in Joplin. We're heading out for a walk and then we'll be on our way to Amarillo. I'll do the grid while traveling again. It's been working out. I only missed a connection one day last week.
how wonderful. I am glad you are enjoying your trip
el 5, 16 clue please
sorry Merk, I don't have it
I can't nail it down
I think it has to use the big pointer.
I will look for it too
bbl
bye bye Merk

another fu8, that is just not right
mkg - hopefully you won't go to many of these and only one of your own!
i got about 20 and went to list.
***am I invisible?***
denny, that was the first one. is second one same word spelled different?

the wh words are mostly onomotopieas
some of these words are giving me a wide berth!
Congrats Angel How are ya MrP and what was the future changing thing you mentioned in the log this morning and then disappeared?
just got the second fu8 word, boy these words are weird
does anyone have the fu 4/10 after the 8? i calculate from points what must be and it doesnt work.

enraged is another way of looking at it
really mad
good morning everyone!
just trying to get a few in early before heading to the gym

hi eieios
oh i missed the other fu.
ty

Right that's me half way - best go mow the lawn. BBL hopefully
well, we signed our house away to auction, it will be on the 1st december. We are so sad, but it is a decision we had to make. A couple of months ago, we thought we could keep the house... but now that I 'can't
oh, that is sad, mrp, sorry to hear that
.... work, we have to take the brave step and sell our assets in order for our kids to have a future
hi u kk?
Good morning, all. I am so sorry to hear that mrp... *sending loving thoughts to Australia*... One door closes and another opens. You two are so brave.
Wow very hard to reach that point but well done for taking that path!
Hello Scarlet!
Hello FMitch!! :-) How be thee this fine Autumn morning?
hey all
HI, Lynn!
clue for ai 7/28?
shithers mrp. remember, keep on breathing and just pick em up and put em down. This too shall pass and you should find yourself in a lovely place when you get through this portion.
This accomodates people who like to fly, Jayde.
Grey and drizzly here but I dream the bright colours of fall :)
Nice, FM... We have had some blessed rain for two days... just enough to stave off statewide emergency measures.
Thanks Scarlet
What you fly on Jayde
You're welcome, Jayde!
I completely blame myself for this situation. I have been sick for over 15 years. We have come to a conclusion that as I can't work, we have to sell as single income doesn't work in Australia. I so wish I wasn't sick, but my children come first and I will do anything to protect their future and education
Well it does no good to blame yourself for something that you didn't choose so stop whipping yourself. Just keep moving forward the very best you can and it should come out right in the end.
You are the epitome of what excellent parenting is all about, mrp... you cannot take any burden of guilt for what life has dealt you... you and your husband are dear, dear people.
How many words, today? Anyone?
i agree with bbnaz and Scarlet
I was "lurking" the other day and saw your spectacular rant about the trainwreck of Britney Spears and the obligations of motherhood, the stunned reaction to her losing her children, and your outrage over her appalling lack of mothering instincts... that said it all.
118 rich
118
Dont waste energy on blame esp when there is none. Use yr energy for going forwards.
mrp I hardly ever chat, but what you have just said made me feel so sad. Don't be unkind to yourself, children remember good parents, fun times and lots of love and kisses, tomorrow is another day I hope it it brings you peace and kindness.
Beautifully said, harvey.
yes, mrp, you are the absolute epitome of motheringness. I can't imagine that you should take any blame and I'm sure everyone will tell you that, over and over again
Hi harvey nice to 'see' you :)
clue for er 7?
put the german river on the end
mkg, I think pabtrek clued it earlier as ER+ famous German river.
mrp, from auction will you be able to buy a townhouse or other place? that is key.
wasn't me
twas me
I have been struggling with the idea of the 'sinking feeling' we have been having. I have felt that we are crashing to earth with an amazing thud... Lickety has done all he can to keep us from this. I feel so much for him cause as a man, it can be a massive feeling of failure. I know it is me that has brought us here. All I want is to be together and more than anything, to be healthy for my kids. I hope we are ok, and I know we will do what we can to have a happy home, no matter where we lay our roots
You will be surprised how better you two will feel as the mill stone of decidion and worry is slowly lifted away.
Good one, bbnaz! Sorry, I misappropriated the cluing... :-)
after the auction, we will have nothing more than medical bills to pay.... after 8 years, it is all we have
el5/16, please?
stop it mrp. stop it now. he is no failure. since when is a structure the evidence of success or failure? you two have lovely children who will be the long term beneficiaries.
Now I have started I guess I should say hi all, I am a mad babbler but a silent lurker in the chat, every now and then something just makes me pour it all out. Enjoy reading the days goings on when I have time it usually makes me laugh but mrp sounded so sad. Take care all, you never know I may turn into a chatter yet!!!
orlando bloom like in lord of the rings (someone else's earlier clue)
I feel so sad for my family.
Come and chat any time harvey, the more the merrier :)
that was me bb
i don't talk much here either, but i am really sorry to hear about all of this mrp...
marc -- did you get that clue?
el... to have pointy ears yet not be a Vulcan...
mrp keep your chin up. Mom01 and I went through bankruptcy 10 years ago. Best thing we ever did. It is only money
yes bbnaz just looking for it now
i went through katrina - everyone in my family lsot everything...things take time but if you keep your chin up things will eventually find a way of working out.
so we traded clues there pabtrek ;~)
We are stronger now financially and emotionally and as a couple than we ever were. All the cliches are true. Always darkest before the dawn... etc. It will get better
Hello to everyone. I am also not a regular chatter anymore, but love to "listen in" on everyone :) and to mrpresident, you will get through this all!
Got it thanks, I have to jump in here and I am late to the whole story but MrP you are well loved and if you need something you should let us know and maybe all of us Babbler can pitch in something.
I would pray every day that we keep our house.... now it is being sold. If only shit hadn't happened. There are many out there who are worse off, so I will keep my chin up and know we are glued together and our seams are bound by love
specially since lickety's saved my sorry arse more than once -- in his own fashion
wow, triplebock. Well done! Always keep your chin up!
thank you so much marc! you are so generous and kind! all of your are wonderful and extremely generous! We will move ahead and see how we fair. Thank you all! :)
i just found out yesterday (everybody scattered everywhere) that a girl i went t o HS with - her husband was killed in teh storm. i looked around and was just so thankful that we all survived. makes you realize what is important...you know?
Good outlook, mrpresident. Stay positive.
oh so pleased you all came through triplebock! Bless you all
exactly, triplebock. Bless you.
same to all of you...
Is that your dog, mrp? Gorgeous!
I do have a beautiful life, cause I am loved unconditionally by my husband, my children and my family (especially my dad!). Without that, I have nothing. So am am grateful
triplebock, where are you?
yes biltong... my Vixie! she is a shetland sheep dog and adorable to boot!
i lived in new orleans my whole life...then the storm :( i tried to stick around for a few months and rebuild but it gets very depressing seeing the damage...i am now in the houston area...medical care in NOLA is hard to come by still...hospitals are still closed and doctors also lost their homes...
She really is a lovely looking dog :)
I would never in my life have believed the love of a dog. She is our baby.
oh tbock! that is just awful for you all!
i still have nightmares...it still looks like a warzone down there outside of the tourist areas...
my kids consider her like a sister! Is that truly possible?? They love her like a person
yes, that is possible! dogs are wonderful companions and family members!
I understand. I live/work in S. MS (shipyards) and have co-workers who lost everything. I am fortunate that my home is further inland and only suffered wind damage. I've only been over that way (NOLA) since the storm and it is still looks like it was bombed...
i really miss S MS....esp. gulfport and biloxi, used to go to waveland for day trips...i was too afraid to go abck to see...i wish i had some time so I could go on a trip to help that area rebuild. i am glad to hear that you were OK, amelu...
oh tbock! I just pray for those people and hope their lives come back together with some resemblance of love and respect! It is so so sad what they have been through. I think of them often
Mrpresident, I am totally behind the superb idea of MarcFreeman... as a community, we can bond together to offer some type of small help... one grain of sand, alone, is miniscule... but in bulk, it surrounds the seven seas... don't be too proud to enquire... you never know the outcome until you start the process.
fu7/44, please?
oh scarlet! You are just beautiful to think of helping! Thank you!
Marc, ceremony for the dearly departed.
*Love to you and your family*
your doggie is too cute!
death rite and plural Marc
thanks got it
have 28 left, going to the list
I promise you marc and scarlet, if we are in a position where my children are suffering due to finances, I will certainly ask for help... I have learnt this time around, don't be too proud to give and receive. My kids are incredibly good and loving. They are all I think about
tbock, I still haven't been to the Pass or Waveland. I don't have the heart. Just driving through North Biloxi makes me want to weep...
That's what I needed to hear, dear mrp.... remember you said that! :-)
i really feel positive about your area, amelu. i really think that the people out your way have a lot of heart and they will come back stronger...in time...if they can rebuild after camille, they can do it after katrina...
sorry, I had to step away for a moment. mrp, on the subject of dogs, i will send you a mail shortly, which I hope you will enjoy.
thank you biltong :)
Morning Babblers
Hi, Nono!! :-)
GM!
The scary part was that so many people tried to ride the storm out becuase they had been through Camille... I stayed but like I said, I only had tornados (wind) to worry about... Do you know where Vancleave is?
MrP I read back on your plight and I am so very sorry about your house but PLEASE dont place the blame on yourself for something you had no control over
good morning, where's our HUGE puzzle?
morning harp, it's still lurking out there somewhere in the future
Still in the creative stages, I guess, Harp... good morning!
i re. seeing the exits for vancleave from 10...is it north of 10?
you know what I love more than anything? My children coming to me and giving me 'maddie' and 'lukie' cuddles and kisses. they last for about 15 minutes and they tell me how much they love me and that I am the bestest mum in the whole world, that they are so lucky to have me as a mum... that all their friends love me too and they would never ever see themselves with another mum cause I am the bestest greatest mum in the whole universe! they love me to the moon and back and 10000000 million times around the universe. I cry every night.
Personally I like the smaller ones!
LOL... great minds, yadda, yadda, Nono
mrp, God bless you. My house burnt to the ground in '93 and my son and I lost everything (except each other and the car). We were renters and had no insurance. I know that you can overcome this hurdle in your life and you'll be amazed at how much better off you are in a year's time...
Your children are your most important assets MrP
oh thank you amelu!! I truly believe we will be better off! My kids will make sure of that! They are angels!
Oh, amelu... you have been through Hades and back... you have the most wonderful attitude! *Hugs to you*
Yes, about 6 miles north of I-10. And my home is on a hill... LOL! *digs toe in dirt, blushing* Aw, y'all are just too sweet.
Amelu has the hand of angels in her/his! blessing be to you!
wow, amelu!
Hey, one thing I can definitely say is that I've had an eventful life... hasn't always been fun, but I've yet to find a challenge I can't overcome. LOL!
hi nono! thanks darling! They are great
clue for fi 6/33?
on a good note, amelu, i bet people really want to live up by you now to get away from future storm surges? maybe it will help property values by you?
We all face moments in our lives when it seems to much to overcome but in the end it all works out and things improve
It is truly amazing how we are able to make sense, retroactively, of events in our lives. Looking back, there were years of seriously damaging events, and now, I thank my maker for the strength I gained from dealing with them. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger... It's true.
mi7/32, please
Correction - clue for the first fi6/33?
exactly Scarlet!
i have two fi6/33s..both are related to something well made, dainty, or just goo
good even
yes, they both build off of the fi 4/7...
mi 7/32 is what rocks are made of...if you have hard water, you have mi*****s in it
ahh, yes! Thanks
Thanks got it
anyone have the er7?
clue for the second fi 5/16?
er + german river
thanks!
YW!
clue for the second fi 5/16?
do you have the one that buids off of 4/7?
no fr***s
The area I'm in has been growing exponentially for about 20 years, everyone wanting to get out in the country... Unfortunately, there is only one road in and traffic is insane. I refuse to leave my house after I get home from work so everything has to be taken care of (groceries or whatever errands) on the way home... Since the storm, people can't afford to buy! My homeowner's insurance has gone up $1600 since Katrina (it's now $2800 for a $60K house). I have friends who had to refinance their house because their insurance went so high that they couldn't afford the escrow on top of the mortgage note. So, yeah, property values are higher but no one who wants to live here can afford to do so... I mean, for the most part, we're laboring shipyard workers... it's not like everyone makes $100K a year...
could someone clue the el?
and the er?
ahhh! ot it! thanks
you've just echoed the sentiment of the homeowner's in NOLA - the taxes and insurance went up so much. sadly, we had to leave. i wish we could go back. i still cook a mean gumbo.
oh wait, no I don't
cookies made with el*** goodness
Yea, I have the one that builds off the fi 4/7.....
i love that clue, nono.
sorry, jayd, i haven't printed my list out yet...
take the fi4/7 before it and add the second vowel
didn't get it, oh well
i cant take credit for it triplebock, someone gave it earlier
there are two fi4/7s that have fi5/16s after
Harp... think Keebler's cookies...
Harp--think Tolkien
thanks, got it!
Or a bad pronounciation of Mr. Presley
We live in a wonderful part of the country and the LA swamps are a thing of beauty and wonder. I wish for you that you were able to get back this way, tbock.
oril
crap, sorry
Ahhh! Got the fi I was looking for. Thanks!
:-)
thx, us cajun folk don't do too well out in texas :( we're not in any kind of a hurry...you know?
Clue for fu 8/70?
Ah... zydeco... is that spelled right, triple? Love that music...
burial...plural, jayd...
The rites surrounding the death ceremonies, Jayde
yep, you got it, scarlet...that's some of our music...
I have the fu8/60, I need the fu 8/70
Love it!
that's for the 8/60
Jayde, take the last two letters off the 8/60 and add **e bread with caraway seeds
Oh, yes. I certainly do. LOL! I was born in the north and moved here when I was 14... I do not, repeat, do not miss the hurriedness of the lives that many live... I'm definitely the 'laid back' type. ~:-D
ahhh! thanks!
:-)
Hi everyone - amelu, did read correctly that the house values where you are, are 60K dollars ?
Now I need fu6,30, fu7,52 and fu5,22 . Any clues?
howdy everyone.. I have been back and forth, frustrated as I don't have time to chat. I wanted to send mrp words of support and now is it too late? We are in the midst of a huge fight here that has been occupying most of my time. Also related to the unexpected.. we built this retirement home out in a lovely area and now it is threatened by the permitting of a bunch of dirt mines! The zoning apparently is not correct, but the burden for undoing the mess falls on the residents .. too much to go into but arrrgh!
No, that's what I paid for my house 10 years ago... it's what I'm insured for.
fu 6,30: more fu4,8.
OH, Aloy, dear. *Hugs* I feel so bad for you and your hubby... Love to you.
fu7,52: the 6,30 plus the somtimes vowel
I'm not sure of the actual prices, but there's a 4 bedroom house on the way to work that sits on 12 acres and they want $499K for it.
so sorry Aloy that doesnt seem fair
fu5,22: the fu4,8 plus sometimes vowel
Morning, all. Oh, Aloy. That sounds terrible. Time to get out the shotgun and booby trap the log cabin!
We had the same problem in Pennsylvania with a rock quarry that used dynamite... horrible.
dirt mines? gracious. that's ridiculous!
thanks guys!
Thanks amelu - what would be the average price for a 4 bedroom detached house be in the US now ?
Welcome Jayde
out in houston you can get one in some areas, the burbs, for well under $200K...no land though
Hi, Uniquity!! YOU finished, right? Congratulations!
Zen that would depend on a lot of things such as location and condition of the home
Thanks Scarlet!
:-)
Shaking my head at all the fires in California. Hubby and I almost moved to San Diego 10 years ago. Changed our minds and moved to Delaware instead. Were planning on buying a house in Temecula. Probably would have burned up or been shook apart by an earthquake by now.
we feel so "little" and powerless compared to the financial and legal resources of the corporations doing the digging. ah well, Babble is indeed an oasis, thanks to you wonderful people.. hugs and gratitude for the fellowship! (-:
*tears*, Aloy.
don't even get me started about these corporations! ARRGGHHH!!!!
You wil find a way to make it work Aloy..it will just be difficult to deal with. I wish you luck and strength.
Thanks triple & Nono - compared to the UK, these prices are very cheap - have house prices actually fallen much in the USA ?
Zonig battles rarely come to an equitable conclusion, Aloy... the little guy CAN win, though.
no, i think everything in houston is on sale. i don't get it. i think there's just so much land and people keep building houses so there is always something new...def a buyer's market...i live in a master planned community with good schools...def. a lot diff from new orleans! what i paid here would ahve bought me a tear down back home :(
*zoning*
at least we got a continuance.. took a lawyer and an expert witness though, :-( . mucho dinero
My daughter just had a 3 bedroom home built on a small lot in a new neighborhood... She paid around $125K, zenmed...
Hmm. Wondering if Aloy can file a class action lawsuit against the dirt mine company or whoever sold them the land. Thinking, "failure to disclose permitting rights on neighboring lands". Just wondering.
have found in this area the price of houses has risen dramaticly
You know, Aloy, these da**ed situations tend to feed themselves and the major winners are the legal beagles who ultimately reach the end of continuances and stall tactics... even the proposals factor in the lag-time with legalities... so, if the corporation says it wants to begin in 2008, the actual date is 2010... I have pulled my hair out on this many times.
New four bedroom homes in Northville, MI, halfway between Detroit and Ann Arbor, go for $350 000 and up. Depends where you want to live zenmd
well, Judi.. one of the angles of attack is against the zoning because it is absolutely incorrect.. we are in an "agricultural estate" zone (orange grove) and dirt mining is really not agricultural.. you don't eat dirt!
Thanks to all; where I live in N. Ireland, in my town the price of a 4-bed detached home is now about 600-700K......
Thats dollar price..
the exchange rate has to factor in on that too zen.... the pound is worth almost twice the american dollar
No kidding, Aloy. Any local indian tribes around who can declare it sacred burial grounds or something?
you are right, Scarlet.. lawyers are necessary and we seem to be up a financial creek .. (hair pulling time here)
Good idea, Judi. This homeowner on the hill tried to rent his home to the Czech embassy to make it a foreign territory. The Czech government turned him down
gotta run... bbl... Y'all have fun! *poof*
Either that, or find some endangered species of animal living on the property. Got any burrowing owls or pandas roaming around?
one of my favorite quotes: "an organization is a means by which ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things".... so we have organized ! As a result, we now have the support of two other very important environmental groups.. glimmers of hope
I DO have to finsih this week's cleaning. BBL
I'm back and still in need of a clue for the el 5,16 please.

Ah, ty. I forget to twist and turn.

Too bad. But, at least you get to play... Stealth Babbling is an art, you know! LOL
Hi everyone
Hi everyone
Ha. At least I'm exercising my mind.
Hi, Peri!
Yahoo for mind power!! Hi, peri... I was just thinking of you, watching today's video... you have this inner healing ability, too.
How are you today, Scarlet? It is gray and rainy here. Going to watch a movie when I finish the grid.Either The Queen or Infamous
Back after lunch to bash out the last 10 words. BBL.

Does anyone here play Fowl Words online?
No, what's that?
I've played it Scarlet
Let me get the link, Sandie... it's fun and fast and you hone your skills at finding words quickly.
once in a while scarlet
oh great - I'd love to play other word games online.
I have problems there with the daggone compound words, like: windbag! I'll get the link. Back in a sec.
http://kewlbox.com/games/GameLaunch.as px?GameId=91#
thanks scarlet - I'll look that up!
You have to install the Adobe Shockwave player for this because it uses pop-up technology, but you can find the directions for doing it... it is addictive, too...
Fireworks, having problems viewing videos lately :(
Don't be fooled by the chickens, Sandie, it's not for kids...
Yahoo for peri!!
going to watch a movie now, may be back later to clue, will write soon, my friend
I often see people chatting about videos?? Where are they??

hi tea!
been busy - I am working one day a week, Tea has school two days, getting ready for the holidays, taking tax classes, you know how it goes. How about you!
hi tea
clue plese for second ar5/10? ty!
oh yes, busy indeed! me too. helping at one of three schools three days a week (about half-time if I were being paid) and loving it. Rest of time chasing kids around. No time or energy for creativity though. that bums me out
ar5 - P***** Hilton
I know what you mean - I only stamp when preparing for workshop but I have been doing lots of loom knitting for presents.
ty - that is a babblet, pass the fish
I'm working at Prism Magic - remember her? She lets me take Crackers with me (I work on days that Tea goes to school) so it is nice!
loom knitting looks like a good idea *glances ruefully at knitting basket with partial crocheted cap in it*
you want half of mine that I got earlier?
I finished a hat for Crackers yesterday in 1.5 hours sitting on the couch with them while they were resting.
very nice! I would love to work in a place like that... Prism seems nice.
i am not even caught up far enough to ask for fishes... *SIGH*
Fireworks!!
she's awesome to work for. I basically open the store for her once a week so she can get stuff done in the morning and then I fill in if she needs me here and there. I worked a craft faire with her this last weekend and that was fun, too.
Yay, Doxy!
YAY doxy!
yay, doxy!
that sounds fun tea
good morning, all
hi nan
*smile* how cool is that! I am very happy for you tea!
hi nan!
ok, have to go - see you all later!
later tea!
maybe from the store - depending on how slow we are.
later tea
HALFWAY!!!! *dances happily*
whoooo hoooo DOXY!
Yeah Stid, and Hi everyone
hi LBD!
does anyone have a clue for the fu7/8 not the burial rite?
whatup dog!
thanks for those, TO!
Morning all
there is a 7/52 that is the store of the felt maker?
fu 7: less empty-like
hi diem!
Howdy howdy, TO and Diem. TO, more fu4.8 then add sometimes vowel for the 7
* really has to do with felting
and the toher fu8?
ty all
dressing for the fu8.60
oooh. good clue LBD
*sits here scratching head* o-kay
very interesting video today.
TO -- an urn for the remains is a fu8 urn
there is an fu7 - rite for dead person
ty ! : )
the 2 fu8's, one is plural, the other ends in sometimes vowel
howdy folks
hey takuma!
must be lunchtime back east...
have to go. granddaughter is getting into the diaper wipes again, she likes to clean with them.
hi takuma!
Hello everyone. er7,32?
later doxy!
er7 - er + german river.
the video today is very interesting!
*poof*
*hands duster to doxy's grandchild*
that, unfortunately, is one of the habits little kids have that they *lose* as they get older...
strange word, thanks doxy!
Doxy, give her some of those dusting wipes and send her over to my house!
Hi, everyone
hey bubba
hi takuma, deb and bubba
I need the E from the center bottom row... please?
once their son started crawling (everywhere), a couple friends of mine started putting terry cloth on his hands and knees, and setting him loose in the kitchen
hi bubba! bye all - got to go, see you later!
LOL good plan! I should do that to my dogs...
later TO!
Stid, like the little helpers for Santa
ciao TO
the ype of bakers that bake Keebler cookies, it is an el5
**type**
bye TO
thanks LBD and bubba!
ok b4 i go - fi6/17 clue, please?
I cannot seem to enter the sw5/18 -- every time I try, I enter the wh5/20
unruly fingers
you mean FI 6/27? the stuff you put in somthing to pad it?
add "one who" to the FI 4/7
fi 6,27 extend the fi 4,7
sw 5/18: spiral?
and the 6/36 adjectivizes that 5/18
yep -- I finally got it in. I knew the word I wanted to enter, but for some reason just couldn't type it
sw + not a boy but a g***
ahhh, magic fingers! i have that all the time Takuma!
heh, thanks for the clues -- it wasn't knowing the word that was getting me; it was just that I kept typing the wrong word!
ty and bye, all! *poof*
okay, down to 42, almost one from each. Grabbing the list.
ai 7 please?
gray bottom row!
woot!
ai7 - take your pick, Delta, Continental etc
*sigh* pass the fish, Haz! (what, no Virgin Atlantic or British a**ways?)
I tailored the clue.
hello, Haz, hope you got my apology from two days ago. I certainly didnt want to hurt you with my quick exit. Glad to see you
LOL you're so well-informed...
tag inge!
Hello inge. Thanks for letting me know what the problem was - and for the apology. I was concerned to think I had annoyed you.
Guten Tag Stid and the rest of the babblers. Has anyone tried the Japanese t shirt folding trick? My husband and I cannot get it.
I've tried it as well, inge - no go here either.
hello all!
hi niamh!
I tried the folding trick too... mine folded ok, but it sure didn't look as nice
Hello Niamh.
ooh! just realized I am below ten1
What's the Japanese T-shirt folding trick?
*~!~* ta da *~!~*
YAY nan!
Well done cybernan!
(course I had to watch the video over and over)
FIVE!
Can someone more knowedgable than I, e mail Anniibrook that video about the T shirt folding? Her addresss is in her bio
Vicuna, the video on Lickety's expert showed how to fold a t-shirt in 2 seconds.
Vicuna, it was the video for finishing in babble expert yesterday
hi vi!
I can fold a T-shirt in 2 seconds. I assume the video's method has few crumples, though!
TWO.....
I don't get the videos. =(
Hello, all!
I don't have the address for the video here at work
It was perfect, Vicuna. Shop worthy.
STID!!!! How's it going?
FINITO!!!!!
hey BGL! it goes! :-) you?
I was busy, so didn't watch it to the end -- listening to you, I wish I had!
one of the ar5,10's??
Vicuna, in the video they came out looking like new. They probably were.
YaY Stid!!
Congratulations stid!
Bravo, Stid
Cool. Of course, it's a T-shirt... I wonder if they can do that to tailored shirts?
ar 5/10: h***** tweed
my guess is that shirt she folded was a silk blend... nothing else looks that smooth
same here! work, kids, clean house, work kids, clean house....
clean house???? *gasp* I KNEW I was forgetting something!
that's the one i do have:)
ar 5/10: french spring month(s) - the v
I don't think the sleeves would cooperate with a proper shirt.
*minus the v
What you need to leave out of that equation, BGL, is "clean house." I always do!
why clean house? Is there an inspection coming up?
I keep the kitchen clean (ish) does that count?
don't know french
Sure, stidmama. That's more than enough!
speaking of which, I was planning on making some applesauce and quince jelly today. Ten minutes to clue...
keeps you from tripping over lids and pots
french month is the same as ms. lavign (sp)
kitchen is the most important room in the place... it's all that matters!
well niamh, bathrooms, too. or don't you live with teenage boys? LOL
ar5/10 - plural of ar4/4 - ends up being an anagram of animal dens or what trains run on.
make them sit, stid
5-year-old boys do not have a nice effect on bathrooms, either. ewww...
hi all.
right, nan. you there! boy who is taller and heavier than me! SIT! rofl....
hi madi!
mine's not a teenager just yet, but I have my own bathroom... he has to clean the other one himself
great plan niamh!
hi madi
lol vic, nor teenaged boys
Builds up immunities, at least!
yep. we got two bathrooms when we bought our home. one for me.us and one for "them" of course, theirs is also the guest bath, so they have to keep it presentable.
that's one way to look at it Vicuna!
off to rake up pine needles that all the rain brought down -- back at the flip :)
this is a really cool video!
see you latter nan!
bye nan
later nan!
Bye, Nan.
so, clues anyone?
speaking of immunities -- anybody know if there's anything to be done to get rid of pink eye?
If I find a cool video and want to share it with lickety does he have a link for where to send it?
pink eye is highly contagious. in the united states at the moment, antibiotics are the only way
Taku, there is a prescription eye drop you can get
i'm still clueless. well i have your clues but am too dense to get them. sorry.
yeah -- I know it's really contagious. I think we have the viral kind though, so no antibiotics for us
if it's just redness from allergies or something, then damp teabag, cooled first in the fridge, can help
thanks for the suggestion -- I'll go talk to a doc
You need to go to a doctor to test which kind it is and make sure there aren't secondary infections.
got the ar now
unfortunately, I'm pretty sure it's pinkeye, at this point
I will try the tea bag though
whooo hooooo STID!
must get this lil doggy moving, hope to see you all later.
the tea bag will make it feel better even if it doesn't cure it
bye dawk!
later LBD
go deb go!
dawg... oops!
Goodbye, lbd.
feeling a bit better would be a big plus atm. thanks ;)
three minutes .... more clues anyone?
ciao lbd
Darn that ringing phone! Now my lunch is almost over and I only have 11 words! :(
oh BGL... want a couple more? the er 7 is nasty...
er + german river...
nah, thanks, stid. I probably won't have time to work on this later anyway! Back to the grind - good luck and have a good day!
{{{BGL}}} have a lovely day!
see you BGL, have a good one
TAku, check out pink eye , Treatment, in google. Gave me all teh info I ever wanted to know
OKay got that 7! :) Now I'm gone!
and I am gone too. Back tomorrow late... *leaves plate of chocolates on sideboard* see you-all then!
Bye stidmama.
Goodbye, stidmama.
did you look up the er 7 word? RElated to the greek word for nose
mmmm... thanks stid! Have a great day
bye stid
Takuma, do you have pink eye?
I'd better get going otherwise there'll be complaints when food doesn't appear..... Bye for now!
bye Haz
Goodbye, Haz.
bye Haz!
does the sw5/18 have any relation to the sw6/36?
so just curious, how many of you all have heard of and-or read the epic story/poem of the Adventures of Beowulf?
I changed my icon from the UN in Vienna, to a goldfish in the US, Does it show?
yes, inge.
*raises hand* Why?
read in both English and Anglo-Saxon :D
Very nice, Ata!
Groan, there's always one!! teehee Me too
LOVE your fish, Vi!
that i know, ata.
can I be smug now?
Hello all back for last 40
Thanks, Ata. Your icon is great, too! lol
Nope sorry smugness only between the hours of 7-9pm
Sure, go ahead and be smug. Knowledge of Anglo-Saxon won't get you much else, so you may as well enjoy the smugness.
ok, I'll just store it up
We missed Haz :( So Niamh why the question?
I was going to take Old English in college, but took Sanskrit instead. That didn't do me any good, either!
*gasp* A/S is particularly useful! Well, it must be ... somewhere ...
I saw trailer of the movie, my fiancee said soemthing about the story... I hadn't hear of it, so I looked it up and now I'm reading it
which version are you reading?
http://www.lone-star.net/literature/be owulf/beowulf.html
Ata will hold a master class if you want one.
We had a friend with a 30 pound cat named Grendel.
try and get hold of Seamus Heaney's translation if you want one that doesn't have zombies in
I only know of Beowulf in its possible relation to Siegfried in Germanic literature
*huh* They've all got more brawn than brain.
Seamus Heaney's hun? is this version I'm reading any good?
I think any version is good. But there are 1 or 2 that really manage to evoke the age of Beowulf. So if you like the online version you're reading, you might like to get one of the more famous translations and enjoy that too
(and the film is fab, though nothing like the book)
If I ran over to the book store at lunch they would have one of the more famous translations right??
btw Ata - antique glaze (chocolate) toned down my orange bathroom walls just beautifully - they actually look great now
mmm.. chocolate and orange... I think I'm hungry!
they should do, but see if you enjoy it first before spending money!
Or try your local library.
thats a good idea Vi
I'm on "episode 4" of this online deal and so far I love it. and I don't mind spending the money because I am a big fan of half price books as well... they take trades!
yay :) well, I'd recommend Heaney's book. I'm sure others have got different opinions, but his is very beautiful and his use of language is lovely
Thanks Ata, I'll look for his version first then!
and he has quite a long introduction explaining a lot about the poem. thats equaly interesting if you can wade through it
cool! thanks!
I was curious and ended up finding that online just now, or at least something similar by Heaney. You can see it at: http://www.wwnorton.com/college/englis h/nael/beowulf/welcome.htm
if you like Tolkien, you'll recognise quite a bit of his Meduseld scenes in Beowulf ...
I've heard great things about Heaney's book, too
thats the intro, elara. its interesting in its own right!
there are more perfectly accurate translations than Heaney's, but I think his is the most beautiful, and isnt that what oral tradition is about?
Sure is! Makes me want to read the poem again, especially since I don't think I've ever read his version. :)
brb got to shove salmon into soup
sounds painful!
can i have a clue for sw6/36 please? it's driving me crazy
adj form of the sw5/18
it's what they call it when a bully puts someone's head in a toilet and flushes it
put the sometimes vowel on the end of the sw5/18
lol - I was about to offer that same clue, nia
ty
ok so i dont get this whole 5/18 type thing can someone explain it to me pls
that means: 5-letter word, worth 18 points
lonestar, that's # of letters/amount of points
5/18 means the word is 5 letters long and is worth 18 points
so 'sw5/18' means a 5-letter 18-point word beginning with 'sw'
oh
if i didn't use lickety's list (my only way to finish the puzzle) i wouldn't know that either
i just got my first fireworks last night
YaY Madi!
ok so what is lickety list???
there's a link at the bottom for it. it's very helpful
it tells you the first two letters of every word and their length, and point value
out of curiosity- how does lickety generate that list? and how does he get it up so soon every night?
idk, but i would sure love to find out.
lickety wrote a program, and he has to manually double check it and post it... but it's not night for him, he's in Australia
well, he has a babble solver programme, and it automatically populates the list. it only takes a few secs
ah-ha- he always pops in a little after midnight for me- that's dedication!
Wow! My monkey typing is actually doing some good today.
you feed your monkeys well or something Madi?
he tries to do it as soon after the flip as possible, but sometimes life and football gets in the way
By the way, the icon theme is monkeys typing. I'll brb. I'm going to change it.
I thought it was fish!
oh, that sounds like a fun icon... I guess I could let Aayla have the day off....
noooooo keep Aayla!
says me, as I sit here doodling twi'leks on the side
afternoon babblers!
I was going to be Aayla for Haloween, but I didn't get my sewing done so I didn't bother looking for blue body paint, that will be the next hurdle
Hello Eva!
how goes it?
(course my abs don't quite do her justice)
oooo I wonder if I could make a Darth Talon costume. not for Halloween, but at some point
hi Eva!
that would be awesome, you can do it Ata!!
i think this puzzle is hard today
i havent even tried the grid yet today -- theyve had me so BUSY doing WORK!
I'm definitely doing a new Talon pic in the next few weeks. I looove her
fine
ra 6/24 anyone?
oops
nm, got it
ra6 extend the ra4,4 t
ty bubba
ok, got the monkey icon.
his name is Charles
Talon is very very cool... *contemplates going to the dark side*
bye, now, babblers. bbl *poof*
my Madi
Niamh: http://elegaer.deviantart.com/art/Dart h-Talon-43376438
is that yours? did you do that?
yup!
never drawn Aayla. I should do
that's awesome! you rock!
Ata doesnt know it yet, really, but shes gonna design my tattoo. :)
there's a competition on a site I lurk at next month for sci-fi art. Such a good excuse to draw Anakin. And something else ... I want to try and do something almost abstract based on face markings - like Talon's and Darth Maul's
I am? go me :)
:-D
just let me know when you're ready! ;)
there are quite a few interesting characters that make great art.
ohhhh yes. I just refuse to do a "Jedi fights a Sith" picture like everyone else
i want a claddagh around my big toe...so its gotta be fairly basic...but i know id like some celtic knotwork worked in tehre, if possible...
its always possible to put knotwork in things. I'm slowly learning that!
no, there's way more interesting things... eeven Bantha's are more interesting than the Jedi-Sith fights.. they've been over done
too right. soooo dull. I'd love to draw Obi-wan but I just can't. Everyone has done a portrait of O-w. I refuse
ata -- ever do any anime?
Clue for li 6/21?
sometimes. I have moments where I just love drawing anime. Then I won't for a while. Then it'll reappear again
The Reek is pretty interesting too
brb
I really want to draw the Jedi Temple. I'm just thinking about how to do it
my BF loves Naruto...and a little Pokeman..heh... hes gotten me into them a bit!
Clue for li 6/21?
I shouldn't admit it but I love Pokemon. I love drawing Pikachu. Adn we've just got a new anime channel on satellite here, so I'm watching Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist like its going oit of fashion
yeah, i think he likes those as well, but Naruto is his favorite... he loves him some Gaara and Kakashi Sensei
i think he has Ghost in the Shell too
I really need to get hold of some Naruto. And Death Note. its just so hard over here!
*turns on universal translator*
i bought him the Naruto dvds for his bday! the first 4, i think
i got them from amazon.com, so you could probably get them there too, if you wanted to
I need a DVD player that plays region 1
hi hurshy!
hiya
hurshy, it turns into "geek, geek, nerd, dork...tooly-dweeb, geek...."
most anime doesn't get published over here, so we have to make do with buying US dvds and trying to play them!
i think even we get it much after its shown over in asia
oh yes. but then again they have anime on 24 hours a day over there
heh, this is true!
so, hints for the bottom-center E or the lowest R?
NM about the E, i found it
and the R, *le sigh*
i always get them after i ask for them!
potty break, BRB!
li4,5?
also need help with si5,10
can't help, sorry!
sorry, deb, i don't have either one :(
Done
just got the li - deb - it's weird li+2 letters in a row (i.e. ab-cd)
thanks!
YW
10 left
hello everyone
si 5/10-----si double cons. and a vowel
thanks annie
welcome, deb
back!
whee!
Fireworks from Oklahoma City
I'm back too... work sucks!
Hey Ata, I thought of another one you should draw... Shaak Ti. she has cool markings
oooooh yes
I wonder if I could make a costume of her... can't be that hard hun?
gotta be possible
and I wouldn't have to worry about my abs!
nope! she'd certainly be easier than Aayla
or I could do completely dark with just vader's face outlines and something cool reflected in his "eyes"
or maps. I like maps. I always want a map of Coruscant, but the information isn't there
that sounds awesome... maybe something like his mom, or something darker like when he killed all the padawan
thats my fav scene ever. very gruesome
my finacee has read all the books and seen just about everything there is... I'll ask him if he has any info on a map of Coruscant
there isnt, I dont think. i've got the rp book of coruscant and that includes a kind of mmap, but thats it
wi5,18?
well if there is truly nothing out there then you are free to create right?
li 6/21
true :)
wi5/18 wi + double cons. + first vowel
thanks mary
Hey Merk if you are still here Congrats
howdee all and welcome to another (relatively) small grid! 8-(
Hi Book

hi there DR 1965
The chat is quiet right now... not sure why
Hi, all
Hi Jellen
it's work DR, or I'd be much louder... Hi Jellen!
OH.. Niamh.. I am home due to a broken toe
ouch, that sounds horrible!
Ouch, DR!
I can be as loud as I want
makes me cringe... my son stubbed his toe pretty bad last night and I couldn't look at it... I'm not really good with that. Probably a good decision not to work in medicine for me.
Yes, I have learned that if you kick furniture inadvertently, it will bite back.

I looked it up, it's right... you got it!
I learned some new techy tricks that speed up my work desktop... I can have several windows open without slowing all of them down now!!
Hope my monkeys come through today--brain is impaired!
(more than one window is a huge step here)
hooray niamh! care to share the secret?
there are some DWORD's you have to add to the registry
if your comfortable doing that I can send you the info
you are right Book- eeyore is the correct spelling.
niamh -- adding dwords to the registry. is that English or Greek. LOLOL
thanks but I guess i will pass, niamh 8-)
lol, it's Gates I think...LOL

if you feel the need, you can go just for THINKING about typing a word in chat! LOL
lol... on my way!!
Ata, would you like a popcorn ball? There's plenty for everyone
what is a popcorn ball? literally a ball of stuck together popcorn?
stuck together with caramel . . .
it's carmel corn stuck together in a ball.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
*starts a popcorn ball fight*
wheeeeeeeeeeeeee
ever since people started to put blades and other objects in apples, popcorn balls, and anything else, i've not had one for halloween.
*chucks a popcorn ball at Ata
*
is that a nice popcorn ball or one full of cow poo in the middle? :P
I haven't had one in a while, they sell them at a store near me, but it's not as yummy
there's a caramel suprise in the middle, but no poo
woohooo
my grandma used to drizzle choclate on the top, or make a hard candy to stick them together... she was creative
mmm, sounds delicious
wow I feel like i'm missing out on things now!
I'm sorry Ata, I don't want you to feel left out! I find you a recipe
England sucks sometimes :P
I'd offer to send you some, but they are WAY better fresh
Ingredients: 20 cups popped popcorn 1 1/2 cups light-colored corn syrup 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 7-ounce jar marshmallow creme 2 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces or candy-coated peanut butter-flavored pieces Instructions: 1. Remove all unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. Place popcorn in a buttered 17x12x2-inch baking pan or roasting pan. Keep popcorn warm in a 300 degree F (150 C) oven while preparing marshmallow mixture. 2. In a large saucepan bring corn syrup and sugar to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallow creme, butter, and vanilla until combined. 3. Pour marshmallow mixture over hot popcorn; stir gently to coat. Cool until popcorn mixture can be handled easily. Stir in candies. With damp hands, quickly shape mixture into 3-inch-diameter balls. Wrap each popcorn ball in plastic wrap. Store at room temperature up to 1 week.
1 c. butter 2/3 c. evaporated milk 1 1/2 c. white sugar 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. corn syrup Vanilla Combine all the ingredients except the vanilla. Cook to a firm ball stage. Prepare in a large heavy canner. Pour in about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 of the large Tupperware bowls full of popcorn. Stir until all the popcorn is well coated. Pour out onto buttered cookie sheets and spread to cool. Can make into balls or leave on the sheets and pull off as you like.

Hi, all
Hey Pam, how are you?
OK, krista--thanks. How are you?
Fine, thanks, but I'm sitting in my daughter's room on puke alert. Poor kid.
hiya pam
ER7? please.
ewwww puke, my arch nemesis
She doesn't want to be alone in case she throws up..me too, nut..I'm almost phobic
Hi, nut. Sorry, krista
brb
to er* is human, *****stone Cowboy
ty
mi 7 please
thanks for that bizarre er
nm
mi7 = 'animal, vegetable or mi7?'
nm found it
Hello.:)
MI7- rock,stone etc
Hi Jac
er7 means 'designed to be stuffed up the nose'.
Hi, jac
It does... really!
I know. I clicked on the ?
pam - I remembered it from the last time it was in the grid after I thought, 'What?' and clicked on the ?
are the ri 5/16 6/27 and 7/48 related? and if so could I get the 5/16 clued please
seems like everytime I don't know a meaning it's some old English/Scottish word..and I never remember them
It's been here before? Oy, LOL
mel - yes. re5 is a type of gun with a long barrel.
ri5, I mean.
thank you
y/w, mel.
got all 3 thanks
I can't get the 7.
the art of using that weapon, krista
I was just smiling to myself about the last bit of your bio, Krista. I think I should put that in my bio, too.
Krista - add the sometimes vowel to the ri6.
I like that line, too. Thanks for getting me to go there, jac!
Hee hee! Thanks. It's soooooo true!
I'm not sure it's entirely 'non-productive'. I mean, we all chat, meet etc. Global friendships are formed.
Very true, very true. I need to stop claiming I don't have time for this and that, though.
And, hey, we also increase our wordpower. Just need an opportuntiyy to bring er7 into everyday conversation outside of Babble now.:)
Krista - does your fish have 3 eyes or have I had one glass too many of the vino?
el 5 please and ty
That would take some work, Jac!...It's the 3-eyed fish that lived downstream from the nuclear plant on the Simpsons
Hi, ak. el5 - Ms. Hepburn had an el5 face.
I meant take some work to get that word into a conversation.
Krista - not sure how to take that! Only on 2nd glass. LOL.
I must've missed that episode of The Simpsons.
Oh, LOL. I see, Krista.
Yeah, I realized how that sounded. ;)
jac would that be elephant face?
el-like the little guys that help Santa
Hey! We want global friendships not global war. LOL
hey jacula! didja catch the new show?
ak - NO, you silly ewe.;) Fairylike.
lol -- got it ty
Hi, nut. Not yet, no. Been working.
me thinks you'll like it.
Is it downloadable yet, nut?
my cat has decided to nap upon my keyboard. i am finding this a bit of a hinderance -- oh move over!!!
course it is...i never say nuthin till it is right?
thanks for the ri 7 clue, Pam
LOL, ak.
Hope work was less stressful for you today, Pam!
Okay, nut. I'll go and get it in a minute. Just gotta lock front of house up now. (Which means daughter will arrive home just after that and unlock it.)
such is cat, a twist on my grandmas favorite phrase
ak - you have seen the 'how the cat wakes you up in the morning' film, haven't you? If not, the url is in my profile.
that was cute...how would a squirrel wake you up, Nut?
oh jac i laughed so hard at that one i needed a tissue
with a sharp knife krista, or a heavy nut cracker
I won't ask where you needed it, ak.;)
did not let my kitty watch it though - did not want him getting ideas
ah, ak, kitty needs to watch the grest video
:O
I showed the film to my daughter when she got home from Uni today and she said, 'Don't let Tiggsey see that or you'll wake up to find him beating you with the loft stick!' (We have a pole with a hook on the end on the landing for me to reach the loft hatch and ladder with.)
no no no, covering kittys eyes
I'm glad the squirrels are outside then. I feed them regularly (**ducks**)
did you see the squirrel vid krista?
glad you defined loft stick jac, had no clue what that meant
Yes, I was laughing my big butt off (not literally, unfortuately)
Throws nearest object at Krista. 'Don't you know squirrels are just rats with fluffy tails??'
see now why we need to fear the squirrels, our last hope is those cats.
fi 4 /8 please
ak- when you're only 5' 1" and a twiddle like me, you need these kind of aids.;0
krista, squirrels are the ENEMY!
if our last hope is MY cat we are all in deep doooo
twiddle, not a twazzle?
My secret is out...I may not be safe here...
you're in trouble if blondie shows up.
nut - definitely 'twiddle'.
LOL cute kitty video!
just checking...krista calls me twazzle
ak - Last time my Tiggsey had a run in with a squirrel it cost me £80 for the damage to his (the cat's) tail.
Hey, you chose the name. Well, not exactly for your self, but..
That's for saying your name was Susie. LOL!
what about damage to the squirrel???? they are so cute
see SEE! jac proves it, the squirrels are on the move, between that and the firebombing incident!
A 'twiddle' is 'a little bit' or 'what you do with TV knobs or your hair'. Definition of 'twazzle'?
uh oh, watch it, knitter...
um...i'll let krista give the twazzle definition
ak - When I find that squirrel I will be presenting him with the vet's bill.

Wasthere supposed tp be sound on the video, nut?

yeah jac, it was a great song/narrative
Hi Harp, Shorty, and Golfer

Hi, Harp.

Hi Krista
Hi, shorty.

kimer - mi8 is the last 8. plural of the mi7 before it.
Passes ai7/28 sick bag to Krista.
i asked for clues for two or's earlier ( a 4/4 and 5/10 ) but had to tend to the kiddies... can i ask again, please?

Nutty, are you picking on me?
hi mom and Krista
I mean ri 5/16?

gees
you're going to have to wait to listen to the show then
hey kimber
Krista - there's an ai8 following the ai7.
not at all Krista. :)
could be krista, i've been trying to figure out how to drive the drivel out of my brain for years.
nut - Not necessarily. I'll twiddle the wires.
anyone have clues for the or 4/4, and or 5/10? i have the mouth related ones and the or + **i

Chocolate rain, nut? Dare I ask??

sorry, eieios--no re's yet, here, LOL
i was looking for the ri's, duh. sorry about that!

eieios - only one 're' word today and that's re4/6.
I have ri 5/6/7 Eieios
only one re word. means to depend
pam - it's related to the death words.
thanks Jac and Inge, will save me from looking
Eieios, the ri's are related to a long gun. Chuck Connors carried one on his TV show, way back when
pam - adjectival form.
thanks, jac
Guten Abend, Babbler family. Cant stay away, though I finished at 7:33 this morning
hi, inge
HI Inge
y/w, pam. My Dad would never have been able to say that 2nd fu8 word. He could never say the fu7 word; always put an 'r' after the 'f' and then tripped his tongue up. LOL.
Hi, inge.
thx mom! i was going in the wrong direction.
LOL
you are so welcome Eieios
well well look what famous inspector is in the grid
funny, how some words throw some people. I know several who cannot say Pacific
Hi Hurshy
they say spacific inger?
i miss an 8. i have ai, fu, mi.
yep
inge - I know a few people who say 'pacific' when they mean 'specific', even heard TV presenters do it!
2 fu's Hurshy
hursh - there's another fu8 (adj form).
ah
there are two fu 8
and heighth for height, jac
Hi, hursh
and here in Detroit many persons cannot say ASK
inge - I have found that many people of Afro/Caribbean origin say 'Axs' rather than 'ask'.
correct Jacula
ok i got it, but, i thought that that adj was "funereal"
er7?
so did I Hursh, till it would not accept it, so I cnaged the spelling
10 left, hope to be back later to finish. Hugs to all. (even Nutty, who picked on me tonight -- lol)
Even my friend Brenda does it and she was brought up in UK by an Irish Mother and a Jamaican Dad. Mostly, she speaks with a Brummie (Birmngham, UK) accent but she can do a brilliant imitation of her Dad's accent. It even makes him laugh.
Sorry inge & hursh. 'Tis adjective though.
ciao, mom
er + rivre in Germany
bye Pam
er7, harp means 'designed to be stuffed up the nose'. Or 'to er* is human' + 's**** a light'.
'Bye, Mom.
Greek word for nose comes up in other words also
jac, your icon looks like a rodentfish
back to watch the game, BBL
Yes, inge. Hayfever or allergic Rh**itis.
Does it, pam? Looks like one of the fan-tailed goldfish I used to have to me.
yes, to me it looks gerbilly, or hamstery, to me
LOL, pam. I found the fish more trouble with the cleaning out of the tank and all the horrible diseases that can befall them (the fish not the tanks) more trouble than gerbils, hamsters, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, dogs...
I would agree with that, jac
At least when you're cleaning out a hutch or a litter tray, or putting your plastic bag around doggy 'offerings' you don't get a mouthful of it up a pipe if you mistime things! Tank cleaning takes longer, too.
fish talk?
>---->>>>> Yup!
Hi, jilli.
last one is the wi 5/18. clue?
Hi jac, old Uncle Tom Cobley and All
eie - wi5/18 - wi + double consonant + 1st vowel.
That's the one, jilli.;)
eie - It's an Anglo/Irish word.
I have 9 left -- not much time for babbling aujourd'hui
just aaarrrghs and esses left
Ask away then, jilli.
LOL
oh, I'll search a bit first, thanks, jac
Lots of aarghs in this grid. It's only little but it's quite tough.
I'll nip off to have another go at hearing the Babblecast.
just found 2 coins...
ttfn, jac
yeah! fireworks.
Brilliant! It's much funnier with the soundtrack.
Well done, eie.
YAY eieios!!!
I've been a sluggard about babblecast
jilli - I can't listen to them properly on my new pc, the volume is not even for the speakers if there is more than one. I've downloaded about 20 now to listen to on laptop when I have time.
Last Babblecast was a video from another site though. So, I could hear that.
I haven't even tried it
Well, you must, jilli. When you have time.
the last i with 4 letters pls
yeah, time is of the essence
whatever that means (to quote Charles)
cubfan - in4/6 = 'not out' + upright consonant + sometimes vowel.
jilli - I thought he said that about love, not time. LOL
ty
fireworks!!!!
:D
YAY cubfan!!! (wait till next year)
3 to go
haha at least were not the mets
Shame Herin's not here, I've got a great WoW generated music track to show her.
Or the expos, r.i.p.
can we help
not yet, thanks, cub -- never say die (the fish may fly) -- click on my icon
gotta go good night all
night cub
1
'Nigh, cub. I've put the WoW tracks in my bio.
*drum roll......*
hello.
ssh! dcs, jilli's on her last word. LOL
*Whispers hello.*
firewords -- good monkey
Well done, jilli. *~*~*~*~*
Well done, jlli. :D
today's was challenging, but not too badly so.
dcs - I said earlier, it was small but a little tough in parts.
Have you had a good day, dcs? I saw you chatting to MrP about the poetry blog much, much earlier.
met a friend for breakfast, i slept well, cleaned the cat box and rabbit cage, vacuumed, grabbed some food and made it to work. So yes, by my standards, a good day. :) And you?
****Fireworks*****
congrats, mom!
yay, mom! and all finishers!
thank you Dcseain and Pam
hello, pam & mom
off to bed now, see everyone tomorrow. {{Hugs}}
ey7 anyone? totally eluding me
use the sometimes vowel again, inge
it took me a long time to monkey that one.
Good day here, too, despite bad night before, dcs. I'd been typing invoices, so lots of figures, and my brain wouldn't settle. Then, 5 times, afte partner got up for work at 3.15am, I had the sensation of something (a cat, I think) jumping onto the bed and walking over me up the duvet. Thing was, surviving cat was shut away in his 'bedroom'. Made my heart pound a bit, did that.
hm. spirit of pet past?
sorry, dc, I can't quite get a word from that
that is disturbing when things like that happen.
It was probably only our beloved old black cat, young again and springy in death, just checking on me. She's often around the place.
help! il pl
it's 4/7, same as one before, but with different ending of other sometimes vovel. It looks welsh
more sick, phandmd
Just after my Dad died, dcs, (and he was always a practical joker when he was himself, before the Alzheimer's got him) I had my foot sticking out of the end of the bed from under the duvet and someone pinched it hard. Then, next night, did the same to my fingers when my hand was hanging over.
thn
thnx!
other cat has a 'bedroom' because he/she does not let you sleep, jac?
yw, phandmd
no wonder I was having trouble. I'm apparently looking for an er7!
oh, er7, mistake + wh5-w
we heard my faher around the house for some months after he passed, sound of his belt buckle, the way the stair creeked when stepped on it.
thanks.
jac, as I'm falling asleep I'm careful not to disturb my old cat I know is on my legs, although she hasn't been able to jump up on the bed for a couple of years now
:)
dcs - He sleeps in the utlity room. I don't like pets in the bedroom. I used to sleep with my old dog (the one from childhood) in the bed and she used to lie on her back with one leg in the air, holding the sheets up and causing a cold draught, and SNORING.
lol, yes, i can understand that, jacula.
what a word "designed to be stuffed up the nose"
The cat we have now is a bit of a roamer and, despite best efforts, often has fleas etc. Not welcome in bedroom! He also can't just lie still, always has to tread with his claws out and fuss.
hm. nasal suppositories.
ah, that would be *snuffed* up the nose
jac, I'm glad you saved that cat tinyurl -- now, does anyone know the url for yesterday's T-shirt-folding video?
i've slept with at least one cat my whole life. In HS, they measured our lung capacity. i had a capacity on par with someone who grew up at i high altitude, which i did not, having grown up in a river valley. Apparently the then 12 years of 18lb cat sleeping on my chest caused my body to adjust.
jilli - hang on. I'll get it for you.
hi inge2
http://tinyurl.com/create.php
amazing, dc!!!
I tried it (the tee-shirt folding). Don't have the knack.:(
merci, jolie jacqueline!!!
er7?
yes, though i can't think any other reason for that large a lung capacity, growing up 30feet above sea level.
er7: mistake + wh5-w
Ah, you know that song, jilli? I first heard that when a Dutch friend sent it to me after I complained that all the songs with my name in were about crazed drug addicts etc.
oops, jac -- that didn't work -- just went to the tinyurl site
And, jill, you can also spell my name.
tx dc
yw, moolingwa :)
That song was, I believe, written and sung by a quebecoise
and that's another one in the books
jacqueline is hard to spell?
congrats, moolingwa!
Sorry, jilli. Site seems to have a blip at present.
bien sur, jacquie
tx
dcs - It seems so! Most people either miss the 'c' or get totally confused around the 'que' part.
jilli - long url for the tee-shirt thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOHHQMQ Bd5s
And, when they get to my second name, which is the female version of that of the patron saint of animals, they spell it the male way. *sigh*
I'd better go and see if Other Half is hearing his work alarm.
i grew up around people named Boisfuillet and Brooksley, so mayb my concept of spellable names is not quite the norm. *shrug*
LOL dc!
jilli, here in the Southern US, mother's maiden name is often given to firstborn child, so you get some names. :)
jac -- http://lirama.net/song/38669 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucille_S tarr
so I was wrong -- Lucille was a franco-Manitoban
MB and NB have the largest francophone pops outside fo QC
LOL, dcs.
nice custom, dc
does this work: http://tinyurl.com/yr8ucr ?
No song found, jilli.
Hi
hello, lady :)
dc, that worked for Lucille
dcs - Yes, it works.
cool
Dc link worked
i remember hearing lucille starr on the radio growing up.
Hi Herin. See my bio for a couple of great WoW tracks from players, if you've not seen them before.
OH also DC thanks. I just remembered anyone interested in recut movies wikipedia has a list of them
jac, you seen the WOW Codemonkey video?
oh, cool, good to know, ty, lady.
funny, jac, just tired the song agin and it still worked here : http://lirama.net/song/38669 -- just the lyrics
song's in Dutch, jilli?
Don't think so, dcs. It's my son that plays (he's an elder or something in there). He only shows me tracks we'd both like. I see the Southpark one has been removed from Youtube.
I will check it out later when my net stops being a b itch
here's WOW Code Monkey: http://tinyurl.com/kotcq
DC
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Re-cut_tr ailer
jac, the t-shirt long url didn't work either-- earned an error -- blast
Jac have you seen the WoW internet is for porn song?
I have to go and make my bubble and squeak (sort of)
Hi Jill

i can, but i have no sound at work, but can watch at home with sound.

Dc you on gtalk?
i think several here will find this post interesting; i think it's public: http://tinyurl.com/3apeky
tonight, they're blocking it.
maybe it'll be available later, it's rather random
i do have access to my gmail and lj, but this is only chat that works today.
damn
American Psycho portrays the film American Psycho as a love story about a New York yuppie who falls in love with his secretary.
indeed :)
This is the type of recut that the did
Back now. Was off talking to my Beloved.
jacula, at 9:39, i posted a link to a discussion i think people here would find of interest.
hm, that's an interesting take on it, lady. i'll have to check that out later.
APcalypse now as a beach party
Thanks, dcs. Saved it.
hee!
THere is an awesome Titanic one too
hm. i wonder if ThaiTanic is still around.

Hi tim

hi herin
The Michael Jackson and Michael Flatley sections are good, too. :D
someone please shake my net
*reaches out and shakes, then reweaves a part of, lady's net*
Thanks DC i was thinking bitch slapping it
your hair net or your IP herin?
IP
We have a garage here local to us, Gracelands Garage. They hire out American limos and stretch limos. They have Evlis on the roof and The Blues Brothers were often found doing silly things outside. However, about 2 or 3 years ago, some twits decided that Elvis should leave the building and climbed up, got him down and dismembered him. When the police assembled all the found part his head was missing. New head doesn't match.:(
i imagined her IP as a fish net
dcs - let's not get into fishnets, LOL.
:)
Poor Elvis
how sad, jacula
Blues Brothers have to stay inside now.:(
Hey Jac i should show you the Blues foto of my g.f and i
or the blues bros need to be made of a too-heavy-to carry material.
It is sad, dcs. We all loved seeing him there in various poses.
My b.f is waiting till after we move to get a new job due to the fact he is the only sodding competent one in the state to do his job
Apart from a weird neighbour or two who complained about 'traffic slowing down to look and be distracted by the figures'. Health & Safety crap.
Herin - what is his job?
traffic slowing down usually leads to safer streets, so why do they gripe. silly people.
moving far, lady?
did he respond to your msg jac
Not sure where we are to move yet. He designs positions in houses for heating/cooling ducts.
dcs - they gripe because they have nothing better to do.
He can do up to 50 jobs a day
tim - who? What message?
Ah, got you Herin.
oh, the pipefitters in my family do hvac work, it's most interisting stuff.
the last itme iwas chatting you were waiting for a recponse from your text msg to your guy?
dcs - sad people (or person, I think). Same, I think, also complained about local bus driver setting man with walking difficulties down at an 'anauthorised stop'.
Basically you buy a heating unit then he gets your house plan and based on the size of the house he inserts (using complex math) the ducts needed to get the right spot. He is the only one that can do it quickly without charts. Also everything is done by hand. He has to do the big lists of what needs to go out (like a shopping list) and order them to. All done by hand counting
oy gevalt! some people. ah, well.
wow, talented guy, lady! that's not easy to do.
Unauthorised stop. I meant. It means the man can get to do his shopping without a 3 min walk back, but probably 20 min walk to him.
No its not easy and most times he trains someone and they are not quick enough or last half a day and go home crying
my friend len has mobility issues due to gout and arthritis. Saw him at a camping event earlier this month, and it took 3 of us to assist him from the cabin he slept in, to the car, to shuttle him the 30m to the main building for meetings and food. So drivers willing to drop at unauthorized stops are a godsend for people like that, as i know you know.
They are, dcs! Shame old grump doesn't know it.
well, lady, as you know, some people just are not willing to put in the effort, nor does that type take much satisfaction in a job well done.
Jac is this a family member?
Herin - no. Just a local old guy.
OH.
But, it's a small village and some of us are still human.
does anyone just chat with cranky old guy? hm likely not, as he's just crotchety, and not so much lonely, or if lonely, it's his attitude that causes it then, eh?
Everyone gets to know almost all of everyone's else's business in villages like this.
Oh for sure Jac
dcs - cranky old guy? Not sure who he is yet, as it's someone 3 villages away.
oh dear.
i'm sure, jac! it must be much like where my father grew up. My sister or i hits the county line, and half the count knows w/in minutes.
There are good and bad points to village life, I guess.
I'd still rather be in a village than a city.
I am watching wife swap, No back chat as 'explaining your misdiscipline (thats not the right word) is heinous. All 5 kids are home schooled no wonder people get a bad idea about home schooling watching this mum shes a scary lady
at least the old lady over the road won't rot for months at the bottom of her stairs should she trip down them and die! I'd notice she wasn't out and about, so would the postwoman and the milkman and other neighbours. Plus, we have a key.
yes, jacula, that is verily an advantage of a village over the urb in which i live.
We watched a UK wife swap a few days ago.. it's about the only crappy TV I allow myself to be bitchy enough to watch.
LOL, dcs.
Jac. My friend had a group of six houses no back yards with fences everyone new everyone.
However, I only watcch it if I think it's going to be confrontational enough to be entertaining.
Knew even
fi 6/33 plz--the first one
For 3 days the alarm kept going of as the lady was on holidays. Day 3 come about and the police were going to get a warrant to enter and someone went 'oh i have a key'
Carry on, Herin...
nm I found it
Hmm! We 'reserved British folks' would have got the key in there if no family could be contacted on Day 1.
3days, they ignored the alarm? how odd.
Or, if no key, window breaking.
She was on holidays and it was one of those intermittent ones. Like a door was touching the off switch then not when the wind was blowing.
ar 5/10 please
Well, that's okay then. But if she wasn't okay, rather worrying.
THe police were called they did do a check around and nothing sus. The problem was it was a short in the wiring
one ar5/10 is plural, other doubl the consonant, plus form of to be.
Oh no the lady was away on holidays the group knew that so there was no stress
mel - 1st or 2nd?
a+double cons +she ** i an you are
i see, so not entirely ignored, just took the police a while to be tired of it
Did the police know she was away?
Did the police know she was away?
No the police turned up every sodding day and nothing was around.
They knew she was away
I'm so concerned I said it twice. LOL.
What would you rather - coffee or a Barley Health Drink (slimie green goo)
Erm... neither really at 4:21am. Can I have either a glass of milk or a cup of PG Tips tea, please?

frap frap hello
Yer me too. It was icky slimie green go
howdy, digeridoo
chicory - *gags* YUCK!
hi 5/12 please
Hi Didge
Camp 'coffee' = disgusterous ( as the BFG would say).
60/40 coffe/chicory is common in the SE US, jac, though not in restaurants, except in Louisiana.
add cons to end of the 4/5, mel
I drink fresh brew plunger every day.
thank you
i prefer tea to coffee, myself.
dcs - remind me never to visit Louisiana.
Oh and dont not give a coffee addict NO coffee makes you very bitchy
i once met a man outside nola who gave me a cup of chicory coffe to watch his 3 legged doggie dance
so, you had a true nola experince then, ren! hello :)
Rennnie
hi ren
herin - I get most of my caffeine from PG Tips. Not that keen on coffee unless I'm in the mood for it, once a month or so.
hey dc! hey herin - hey tim (((mistress)))
yes, lady, that i know, and always have coffee on hand if i've guests who like it.
Guilty here I go through 200 grams of coffee every 4 days
Hiya again, Ren.

Oh no" The thought of coffee first thing on waking makes me gag. It has to be TEA.
Coffe's for the afternoon lift or in the evening.
she's hyper herin! nice cool breeze - and she wants to run wild!
Alchohol is not to be consumed before the sun's gone over the yardarm... after dark. Preferably after midnight.
fu5/22 completely
Damn! Spelt it wrong. Alcohol.
ty bogster
I think I need the fish on that one
Spelt coffee wrong, too. But coffee's not important to me unless it's Gaelic or in a cake. LOL.
E lone clue please
er7, herin?

ni5/12 = ni + 'not as big as a mountain' minus last consonant.
ni+ a place where ants live minus last letter
THanks
thank you
nm found it
praise - I must ask! Are your our Peri in disguise?
herin - I take it your last post was a wifeswap comment?
yes it was
wh 5/24 please
mel - no wh5/24.
why do you ask that jacula?
OOps! There is!
yes there is Jac
More whingey.
The boy thinks i may have broken a bone in the top of my foot as three weeks later it is still sore from smacking it on the top step
But without the 'e'/
Herin - if you'd broken a toe bone you'd KNOW!
thats what i said to him. I think i have badly bruised it
oh its not a toe its the bridge of my foot
I, apparently, according to various mediocos I have met over my life, have a very high pain threshold.
hmm jac no idea lol
If I say f*******ck! You know it's serious.
mel - grape drink with an 'h' in the way to mean moaning. Then take out 'e' andadd sometimes vowel.
Jac these kids are so hyped on sugar they are being bestie ' I WANT A COOKIE'. Ha ha
doh got it
Well done, mel.
Shame I'm not 'into' S&M with y high pain threshold, LOL
LOL I was searching for my last word I thought I had another and I am done...fireworks!
Jac it wasnt a stubbed toe but a good whack across the bridge of my foot on the wooden stair in the dark
Jac it wasnt a stubbed toe but a good whack across the bridge of my foot on the wooden stair in the dark
Jac thats dang funny
LOL Jac too damn funny
I was going to go on from that post with a joke about the M&S sexy foods adverts. But, I guess you don't see those in UK nd Antipodes?
Marks and Spensers? No not here
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get fluff of a shirt?
Yes, Herin. They're hired Irish Actress Derrvla Kirwen to talk about their food(s). However, Butcher's, the dog food company, have now done a spoof on that.
tape
i cant its a printed tshirt
I washed a whole note pad in the wash
Heerin - yes. Put the shirt into your tumble dryer on lowest heat seating for 10-20 mins. All the fluff will then be in the filter and not on the shirt.
that is a wonderful idea i cant 1 we dont have a dryer and 2 its got a print on it that is hear sensative
Saves ages of swatting away with sticky tape wrapped around hand or lint roller. Also, since it's a printed shirt, will work like a dream, Just remember, coolest seting for a very short time.
Oh dear, Herin. Looks like it's a cold shirt and sticky tape around the hand then.
See you later, Herin. LOL
same as these awesome comfy pants i need to remove the fluff from them and iron the crease back in them
but i cant as its a cold iron and no dry cleaning for them
erm, comfy pants? Need definition here. Is that big knickers (UK?Australia) or big trousers with elasticcated waitband (USA)?
so yes Jac i will be there for 2 years removing the fluff
Trousers they are newish and they are very comfy
Herin _ I've told you a million times, DON'T EXAGGERATE!
ha ha
HERIN - DON'T TELL ME THE us 'PANTS' WORD HAS NOW INFIILTRATED TO tHE aNTIPODES?
pANTS ARE UNDERWEAR!
I always say Pants.
Ask Rolin she says pants too much to the amusement of others
Oops! Caps lock stuck. Sorry for shouting.
Pants are knickers here.
trousers, trews, slacks, jeans = outerwear. Pants (unless ski) = underwear.
Ha ha
This sprach Jacula.
Knickers are fine, Herin.
Oh wifeswap is amusing. The wife is an overbearing biatch. NO one tells my kids to do choirs. Like their laundry (they are 14 and 18) ffs
So, stop saying pants when you mean trousers.
Herin - have you seen the scarey 'Christian' wife video?
Was that the swap with the gay man?
Poke Jac you here?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TJLOGI 2Odc
That's an overview.
Give me an hour and i may load
don't be so bossy, jac. Pants are perfickly acceptable in North America for women. Trousers are for men and Katharine Hepburn.
Watch 'The God Warrior' damaging her husbnd and all her children!
that is funny
In North America knickers = panties, except nobody uses knickers, so don't get yours in a knot. Thus spake jillibus
jilli - LOL! Me, bossy? Watch myu new film! And, if not (where the hell is someone's 'station, btw, back to spiritual warrior film now) see me sound off about people who tell me when I should be in bed.
OH that woman needs to be shot. All religions are the same thing but a different view. Like a painting
Herin - just be thankful I didn't post the film of her pukingg up in their flowerbeed over some imaging 'unChristian' thing they'd done.
very perspicacious, herin
ewww
WHy thank you Jill.
I'm taking a permanent sabbatical from organised religion
That woman kinda puts everything into perspective, doesn't she?
I am Pagan raised by Christians I try to be tolerant of other beliefs
who, me? lol
Jac i think she is the devil :D incarnate. SHe scared me
I was raised C of E and try to live my life by the sensible rules (which are the 10 commandments).
Not you Jill it was in relation to the barfing in the flowrer bed
ditto jac
C of E too
lol herin
I don't like the idea of the jealous and warlike God though.
but when I see the warring factions within each organised religion I see nothing but trouble
That reminds me of the Simpsons - 'Tod Rod, do you want a happy god or a VENGEFUL god
There again, we were made in 'His' image... and mankind is warlike which is why we will never see 'peace in our time'.
er 7 please? its my very lastest one
i am off
We are just slightly advanced chimps Jane Goodall observed
jillli - that's what made me 'pagan' too, I guess.
er7 -- make a mistake but don't w**** about it
jilli - she (Jane) and you are not wrong.
wheeee! thank you Jac :)
err..jilli, sorry :)
Wyrd - that was jilli, not me.
well, jac and jill...
back! *lays a mixed dozen donuts on the table*
Unless you've got all excited about me being pagan.
oh, ur pagan, too, jacula?
YAY wyrd, I think!!!
yeah im excited about that too Jac ;), now yer on my side of the hill
dcs - is ther one with custard inside and chocolate atop?
If so.. IT'S MINE!
pagan? They have gods too, don't they?
alas, they were baking, and had no coconut, peanut, nor filled
*Shoeves other Babblers out of way to get ot it.*
chocalet iced sour cream cake donuts, though
goodness! no wonder nobody can spell
yes jilli, we have, usually, but not always, more than one.
dcs - lapsed C of E, due to not much encouragement. Found being pagan much more rewarding, as we gardeners do! LOL.
:)
I don't have any gods
the imagery the italian stonecarvers worked into the Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul, aka the Nat'l Cathedral, are really something
Well I got rid of ex-hubby's nasty grandad using Wicca spell.
but certain rituals put me into contemplation
agnosticism/atheism/skeptcism are valid faithpaths, to jilli.
too, jilli.
Sunday is the annual Samhain ritual at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring , which is in Maryland. I'm looking forward to being there, it's one of my favourite services of the year
Sanhain. Shall I post an earlr Tyrannosaurus Rex song for that? *grins*
saM

from my civilian father when imprisoned by the Japanese in Hong Kong, July 1945:
Salamander Palagander.
Jilli - (HUGS)
And if the grave should close my life, If death ends all for me, Why spend my days in ceaseless strife A goodly man to be?
Jilli - did your Dad do what my Godfather did? Did he water their veggiie crops with pee?
*hugs jilli* that's beautiful.
hello all! {{{Jill}}}
Hi, stid, BBS. Comfort stop needed.
hi stid!
*grinning ear to ear as I read back in the log* we'll "do" samhain in our family from tomorrow evening through next Thursday or so. My favorite holiday of the year!
Why not serve self and sow wild tares, Make pleasure my one aim? What matters it? In truth, who cares Or good or bad my name? Who cares? I care. I only fare Once here: that life shall be The best it can; and I shall share Man's rise to dignity.
last year, we closed the samhain ritual by singing Breaths, by Sweet Honey in the Rock, 2nd song on this page: http://tinyurl.com/3aa7fs - lyrics only.
It's a lovely moon out tonight, too. So bright I don't need the houselights to walk outside! but --- rather on the chilly side. brrrr.
Jill, I can see you got a good bit of your talents from your father. What a wonderful man he must have been!
it's raining :) so we can't see the moon tonight.
jilli, thank you for sharing, very lovely.
samhain is my fav holiday of the year, too.
Jilli - xxx
oh seain -- a GORGEOUS poem!
if you're not familiar with Sweet Honey in the Rock, i reccommend them highly. Group of women based in Washington, DC, led by Dr Isaye Barnwell, who is an amazing woman.
It is strange, to "miss" a person I have never met, but Jill's parents are two... such interesting lives they led!
wish i could sing it for you, it has a lovely melody.
Thanks seain, I will check them out.
T.Rex demo version: V
yes, stid, i agree
Somewhat off topic... I wish, Jill, that you would have Dave (or someone) scan some of those clever ditties (and sketches) you did for that clothing store... they are classic!
stid - you are right.
*proud of friend look*
can I assume everyone finished the grid already? (noticing dearth of clue requests)
well, of us chatting, yes, don't know about others, mel? did you finish yet?
