the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel both are long enough you cannot see land from mid-span, or spans in the case of the latter.
infernal, love your icon too
still no on that
THat is Monument Valley
the SW US is very beautiful in a way quite unlike what we have here in the East. Sitting on I-15 in the Virgin River Valley of Arizona, i got to watch mountain goats leaping across the narrow valley, and the highway. :)
that's cool dc
thats pretty cool DC
sa5, 16 clues please?
I'd seen mountain goats on TV, but wow, in real life they're even more amazing.
the west coast of Oahu has mountain goats too, i don't think they get down to the roads though.
oh, were they imported from here?
found it!
xanika, past tense of sa4/6, like a brown fur coat without and L
by leaping across the valley and the highway, i mean 80 meters across, and 8 stories over me.
ty
dc, i think they are just goats that live in the mountains. :-)
not the big shaggy ones
ah, different creatures then.

I'm half alseep. Was going to go shopping in Victoria tomorrow but pouring rain is predicted and driving in the dark coming home on winding hilly streets without lights is not inviting so I'll stay here instead

thaks guys
ty, mva & fran. new word to me.
lady -- I went to that site, which is Danish. I had a friend who was a little Danish boy by the name of Erik Krogh. That surname appears in a list on that site. I wonder if it's a son or something. Erik's father was killed just before the war -- I think on some mysterious assignment in India or somewhere like that. I'm now going to change the icon...
yw dc!
yw dc
15 left, but daughter woke up crying, i'll be back later
bye fran
ciao, fran
i need help plz
matt, have you looked at Lickety's Babble Clues, link below the grid? If you open in a new window, you'll have a list of 1st 2 letters and length/points of each word, it makes things easier much of the time.
we're happy to help, too, as you know.
thak u
endl
my time is up, got to go, good luck all!
back had to make coffee milk
wb
ciao, mva
My friend taught me the secret of good coffee milk
coffe with milk is a good thing, i agree
i learned about it from the café con leche in spain
i'm generally more of a tea person, myself
And what is with Spanish donuts dipped in chocolate oh yeah
lady, did you see my post at 1:35?
:) yeah. i drank lots of chocolate while i was there, and a benete or biñete with it was fabu.
http://www.chocochurro.com.au/
Jill that really is fascinating. I didnt see your post i was off getting coffee milk
filled churros? how odd.
never saw those in Spain, but they're common in Mexico.
Thought you might have missed it , lady -- again, thanks so much! I have bookmarked the site
sonds delish, though
bye all
hasta, sprite
what's a churro?
bye sprite! leaving so soon?
jill, i think it's a reasonable probability that a descendent, or your friend, made the site, or had input at least, from what u shared earlier
Its the ones that are fried and dipped in choc that i love

I just found this droolable recipe
http://www.sanchurro.com/recipes.php
neat, we don't have things like that here, though we have many spanish restaurants, some tapas-based, some not.
teleportation tech would be such a happy :D
I love the San Churro one as one got the munchies late at night on Brunswick street it was great for munchies
:)

YAh DC
Cockroach Dimensions (Inches)- Length: 2.5 Width: 1.25 Unit Price = $3.30/packet. Display box contains 12 Harry Potter Cockroach Cluster Packets. Each packet includes 2 cockroaches. Shipping Weight ~ 2 lbs.

hee! Hi, babbleRabble! :D
that is gross
cool but gross
i like the ice mice packs since we used to have micesicles in our freezer
very, very true what you have in your profile today, babrab. :\
ice mice pack? Micesicles?
quite a sad testament
indeed so.
hm. the Employment Non-Discrimination Act passed the House today. We'll see, but i'm not holding my breath.
We had a snake in residence at the time
ah, i see
we bred live rats for the snakes and the lizard when i lived with them.
we got them from the uni
DC
they had a lab there, i guess.
most people here buy them at pet stores - 'feeder rats'.
they did
they did
labradors eat rats? whoever would have thought it!
love that xkcd, ata! hello.
LOL, just got ur joke. :D
and hi :)
I dont think it even classed as a joke, just something very bad LOL
Hi Ata
pun, joke, stinking pile of sh4/5, whatever, all good. :)
good for this time of the mroning, anyway :)
It was always a hoot to have a drunk person open the freezer and go 'whats that' and open the 'mice cream'
LOL
i've been at work 8.5 hours now. I've had 2 calls, completed two grids, and procesed the 40 emails. And for this they pay me. oy.
The container had MICE CREAM written on it if you were dumb enough to open it ha ha
DC thats a bad thing?
LOL :D
I need that job. I could do all my artwork while getting paid!
not horrible, but it is rather boring for most of 12 hours. i'm already planning what to do for food when i get off in the morning.
yes you could ata. You should be a gov't contractor, too!
You teased my yesturday with Choc Croissants
I need to move to the US
i had raspberrie-cream cheese croissant also. At the last of the plain ones with some home-made strawberry preserves today. :)
OH thanks wheres mine :(
I cant even have any cereal this morning because my evil husband finished it yesterday
if ever you are here, i will take you to Vie de France, or better, Pastries by Randolph for croissant, i promise.
what was it you wanted Ata?
Yah DC
bummer, ata. no oats or grits about? Wait, you probably wouldn't have grits.
I have coconut and raisin muesli and its sooooo good
that sonds delish, ata
oh! i forgot my chocolate coconut things. ah, well, bring them tomorrow.
THats why i have my own cupboard
it is! when I have some *glares at the empty packet*
Maybe one of you (or all of you) can explain to me why people can't access my flickrs when I give them my name (jillibus 2003). And today I wanted to send a comment to someone, was told to log in, which I did, and they said it was erroneous. But I can get to my pix. I can't find a "Help" or any way to ask questions on the site. Baffling.
I dont use flicker
http://www.flickr.com/help/
jilli, the name thing is an odd one with flickr. you need to give your friends the link to the photos, not the name
then if you go to "my account" you can set up the link to your photos as www.flickr.com/photos/jillibus2003
thanks, ata -- but then what about not being able to log in so that one can send a comment?
erm dunno on that one!
jilli, it's a yahoo login, so same as your yahoo acct, if you have one.
about as user-friendly as vista, I guess
flickr is usually very easy and simple to use, so stick with it! you did log in correctly, didn't you? (sorry for the simplicity!)
any of you happen to know finnish?
I use photobucket its very easy
yes, dc, and that's what I gave, but no go
i like flickr, and find photobucket hard to use.
me too, dc
I am the opposite : ]
no finnish here, dc, sorry
I have been told there is evidence that someone has highjacked my computer ..... so I have placed a list of favorite webpages on the desktop and asked the cyber-squatter to leave my stuff alone
I only use flickr because of babble
my solution is simpler still, I don't have a camera, lol
my friend paul uses fotki
fotki? Is that finnish?
jilli: http://www.flickr.com/help/website/#83
no, www.fotki.com is another photo-sharing site.
well, it might be finnish, not sure.
cool! corporate site had the product of theirs that i can't find in stores. ordered a few. :)
thanks again , ata, but I don't have trouble logging in to MY site. It was when I tried to leave a comment on someone else's flickr site.
well yes, but presumably you log in with the same account details. send them an email and ask
DC have you seen Red Vrs Blue?
dc, I got a great bookmark yeaars ago and wanted more. Couldn't find them anywhere. Finally noticed the name PageKeeper on mine, googled it, and was able to get loads more! Happy happy!
Ata, I'm half alseep -- forgive the dumb questions -- but I couldn't find a way to email them. Will try tomorrow!
yes, lady, i love r v b

al4 for the poor, diff last letter
like the poor, different last letter
thanks! you think you've tried everything!!
resistentialism is rampant
hang on while i look that up babrab
I am trying to resist going to hobbycraft
is that a store ata?
Ata whats there that you want?
biiiiiig hobbies and art store
new sketchpads
must need pencils
I'm holding myself back from going to Stitch World.
ooh, dangerous ata!
Ok and what else?
hi haz!
thats actually all for once!
ooh haz, that could be dangerous too
Oh Oh oh who said HobbyCraft? Cna I come and play????
Hello all, working undercover here.
remember you don't like needles, Haz :P
Hello, FMitch and Haz
i remember having to get out of the way of cars on streets like this: http://tinyurl.com/2wlfqp
You see? Atalante knows which buttons to press....
Oh dear this sounds like a dangerous mission
hahaha knew that would get you out of the woodwork, fm!
hi FM!
hi, fm and haz!
Rats LOL ATA Good morning all
Atalante, did you see Imran in hiding last night?
cool dc, like some streets in Florence
Hopefully no-one saw him if he was in hiding, otherwise he wasn't hiding very well!
are all the Ls LAs?
I saw that he vanished the other day, and was presumed to be in hiding
Well, the BBC cameras had found him.....
Have you got more men stashed away at your place Haz?
why is he in hiding?
The BEEB get everywhere!
He's in hiding from the mad Colonel - had to scale a wall to get away. Whereever he's hiding, razor blades and combs aren't available.
was he looking haggard and torn, yet ruggedly handsome?
yes, Fran
I'd have given him shelter, put it like that.
yes, all LAs
its not on the bbc website. interesting
thanks dc and babrab
Maybe he's begged them to keep his whereabouts a deadly secret, if they clock the wallpaper on the walls it may be identified.
aha yes it is, I found it. but it won't load! conspiracy!
Is this to do with the situation in Pakistan?
I think so, Atalante.
yup
yah
they have all gone to bed
Yes, FMitch - seems there's a lot of opposition stirring and Imran has had to flee.
otherwise he'd be slung in jail and be even more in need of a comb
Everyone in Pakistan has gone to bed? A new form of protest? We've had sit-ins before.....
Ahh, was up on the general situation but not on the hairy hunk.
The hairy hunk is hairier than usual, but retaining his hunkiness.
haz has George arrived back safely?
lol Haz to yr previous. Oh BRB Door bell summons
aha, vid is only his voice. his hairiness must have been censored
No, he hasn't. And I don't want to sound impatient, but this situation is not on.
dc u here?
I'd just concentrate on Imran for a bit
He is going to be needed for my forthcoming book tour (which FMItch is going to arrange), so he'd better get back.
I sent him back a few days ago now and as a thanks I also sent you the hunk from the Aero ads whose name I have forgotten now!
yes, went for a short stroll while nibbling a banana
Let me tell you, that man from Aero would stop any woman in her tracks! If he's coming I'll never get ANY work done.
and now we have ANtonio Banderas in an M&S advert!
you done with work Dc?
thought you'd like him!!
I never realised that the hunk from Aero had a name other than Adonis.
nope. 2.25 hours left
I love the M and S advert on the Orient Express.
Ata stick Antonio back in Interview with the Vampire gear and i may never leave the house
I do like Antonio
just saying it mm huh
Jason Lewis also in Sex and the City
done!
YAY Fran!
I'd hate to think that FMitch's doorbell summons was for her to take delivery of George and Aero Boy. You did put the right address on, witchy?
YAY fran!
Congratulations Fran!
broke down and opened the list. thanks for your help earlier dc and babrab!
thanks everyone!
She didn't Haz, Phew my oh my :)
i used the list for my last 20.
Well wasn't sure of the address so just told George to go home and take his new friend with him
A good job. I'd have been seriously miffed.
does George automatically return home like a racing pigeon?
http://tinyurl.com/3a92dk MM HUH
hope so or Haz is going to be cross with me!
Good grief! As if those two are going to get here unscathed, especially if unwrapped. You did put them in disguise?
yes of course thay are wearing the gorilla suits
That's a relief. They'll not be conspicuous, then.
The ones I just took delivery of were wearing monkey suits!?!
Pardon Caps lock i had choc on my keyboard
I did give them hats, sunglasses and a long mac as well
only had 1 mac so they have to share though
There's been a mix-up somewhere. The sunglasses were a step too far, witchy. They're in Britain now, not LA!
witchy, I think it's time we told Haz the truth. Haz, witchy actually used my address, they arrived yesterday!
they said they couldn't leave home without them
LOL biltong
TRAITORS!
HI Biit long time
Bilt you said you'd keep it a secret
Hi, herin
Trying to clear flasher mac images from brain eewe Morning Biltong
FMitch, what are we going to do? This book tour depends on George to draw the crowds!
howdy, bil
If you have to be flashed then who better?
It's OK Haz, he will be there when we need him. I have already got him to sign a contract.
When does the book tour start, Haz? I can let you have him back by the end of next week.
And I just know Biltong is going to go on about Finders Keepers.
Oh well, if he's signed a contract then all is well.
check your email, FM!
pardon me, which George are you talking about?
Clooney, I hope?
clooney
As long as it's not the sort of contract that footballers and managers sign. Or Elizabeth Taylor's wedding contracts.
boy george
etha
that's what i thought
sorry
The book tour dates are fluid. I haven't written the book yet.
lol babrab
lol, Babble.
Don't you worry, you just get the book finished on time.
Oh Babble, Boy George would draw the wrong sort of crowds!
you know, he's laying low right now because he got in a fight with Fabio earlier in the week.
Oh well, in that case I still have plenty of time beyond the end of next week. Will keep you updated Haz
And I could never have made him inconspicuous
Who, George or Boy George (in the fight)?
i thought that was george clooney and fabio
George C.
lol, witchy, true.
Ata nothing inbound to mail box.
did george pull his hair!!!
No, Boy George and inconspicuousness are incompatible.
In other words, Boy George likes to be seen. So much easier to spell.
lol witchy! it was a pushing match with the waiters breaking it up before any blows were exchanged
shame!
GC asked someone at Fab's table to stop taking pictures....he assumed they were taking pictures of him (which they weren't)
You are all too funny! Unfortunately I have to be off now. See you all later, bye.
Fabio went over to his table and told him to stop being such a diva. *snicker*
Why would you take a picture of anyone else if George was in the room?
Bye bilt
I think he was right to make that assumption.
Ummm 'cos you don't like GC?
Bye Biltong.
bye bilt!
You don't have to like him. You just have to look at him!
Doesn't really do it for me, well someone has to keep a clear head around here.
like bilt said, you all are too funny. :-)
Fran has the little one asleep
time for me to get to bed.
Anyway, if George and Aero Boy are heading in this direction I'd better tidy myself up (oh, and a small matter of RDA to get to). I'll look out for gorilla suited men along the way.
night fran
no infernal, dad just came home from a gig so everyone's up now!!
g'night fran
huh! where did my email go!!
Night night Frann sweet dreams Bye Haz see you later?!!
see you all later!
Off I go. And if Imran wants, another hunk will make no difference here. (Don't tell the immigration people though)
Bye Haz
HHHFH- Hazel's Hunks' Home from Home. BYeeeee.
LOL Byee
What time is it for you Frain
it's grid-4 where fran is

Hawaii is four hours behind the timestamps in the chat here.

so that would be?
so it's about midnight there
I think someone just rung up about christmas stuff?
typical.

:)
this is among the hours that chat tends to be rather deserted.
my pc keeps freezing and i dont know why
could you have malware running that's eating cpu? Do you run spybot or such?
i dont have spybot
you can download for free to do a scan and clean - i think it lasts a month before it wants you to pay.
It actually stops working as in totally freezes
spybot search & Destroy, that is
i dont have that
Ata are you still there?
I tried the 'freeware' spybot and it never sent me a code
dc help?
w/?
here again now, laptop died
That freeze problem anyhints or do i need a nortin full check
FIREWORKS!:-) 45 mins. Quick one today.
i would start with pulling up the task manager, and determining which processes are eating resources, apparently CPU, possibly memory. Then, with that info determine next step.
I have done that
Well done, jac!
okay, what seems to be source then?
i dont know
what process has 98% by it?
Might BBL. Off to the supermarket now. Happy Babbling/computer housekeeping.
ciao, jac, enjoy!
I dont know
click on the processes tab, and sort on the CPU column, you'll need to click on CPU twice to bring heavier users to the top
off to buy sketchpads, back later!
ciao, ata, have fun :)
System Idlle proceess
and below that?
err random stuf
nothing else is above 1%
System idle is 89
the rest is fire fox 20
the reason i am asking al this boring crap is the b.f is in bed
monitor that for a while and see what it does.
usually, firefox would be toward the top
thanks sucks that why i am aking. Maybe i dont have enough spare stuff
maybe. this chat script can bog down at times

the cabinets are up in our house, and the front door is on. we met the contractor last night.
very cool angle
building is so exciting...
wow that sems fast Angel - how long is it since the start?
almost a month.
some plumbing...painting... and trim to go?
drywall/ gypsum board up?
it takes 30 days from foundation to completion, weather permitting, and the weather has been good.
never! its a new build isn't it?
wow - that would never happen in Aust!
that really is fast Angel, glad you're there to see work in progress - exciting isn't it
the toilets and sinks need to be added; the appliances will be last, flooring will need to go in. they had been painting yesterday. the interior doors are on now.
i'm having some trouble with the left A - are there some weirdos or am i just being thick?
btw that's great angel :) :)
drywall has been up for a week and a half.
yes, a new build.
there is a nasty al6.27 & 7.40 that follow a clock movement
ty!
is there maybe a five/six combo from the top E that i'm missing?
em6&7 as in mummies
there a 6/7 combo and a 5/6 combo
yep, had the 6/7
and just found the 5/6
em5&6 the start of going red in the face
ok what is the point total please? :)
em5.16
no i mean for the whole grid
can't help there, not listing yet
126 words today
can i have another clue for the al6 - didnt get the clock one
well it's 1607 or 1609 or something like that
maybe higher actually, we got a lot of multi pointers here
al6.27 al + what you sleep in + vowel (follows a clock direction)
thanks lynxxx
is there a dh5 *cringe*?
yes but easy - dh5.14
thanks!
it IS 1609 then. the point total.
nice lil half hour grid
well done Hurshy!
thanks :)
Hurshy - How is your sister coping with the new baby? all under control?
<POMPOM TWIRL> for hurshy
yes, things are going really well - my sister is a very positive and competent person and things in her life tend to go well :)
she said he's only crying when he has a reason (food, diaper).
postive & competent sounds really good for a new Mum. Babies do pick up on the 'vibes' I am sure
yes, that is one of the many reasons i don't have any - don't want to pass along depression and anxiety genes!
at least not until you get past this stage! as I am sure you will - you are normally so upbeat!
i am upbeat like... for other people
inside i'm not so much
it's been that way my whole life
Well you do an extremely good version of it. You are probably like those inspiring public speakers who declare that they are so shy!
ok...brb..gotta make espresso..the white tornado is hitting the house today..and I need hightest to get through it all
this grid is really pretty quick.
yes, in fact it's kind of problematic in a way because people don't realize things about me. for instance my brother- and sister-in-law didn't realize how much insecurity i have and stuff and they interpreted my behavior as if i didn't. but now they have found out - they were very surprised.
it's not like i consciously try to pretend to be something i'm not - it just happens
I'd best finish for the nite. Still 15 to find. Bit tired after seeing the Jesse James looonnng movie - too long
and i'd best do a few chores before work
ma4 exodus....
ttfn all
i know what u mean hurshy....
Hurshy...and you spread so much happiness! see you later
byebye hurshy
well... now what lynxxx
thanks for saying that lynxxx, bye!!
Hi, clue please for the re5,16
ra* charater from archie + not pa but **
oops re* + not pa but **
i suck at cluing this early in the morning
great- thank you
so whats new lynxxx?
I'll say good morning/evening to all.
Hi Haz
Hello there - stormy day in these parts. I may just have to babble.
Very windy here but no rain - yet
It'll come.
that must be the blow we had a few days ago haz....blew across the the puddle to you..was nasty
This one came from Iceland via the north of Scotland last night.
i was kidding haz....
the paint inside the house is a light beige, not boring white.
this one blew transports off road... it was really nasty..nevermind
I'm off to get lunch - husband off work sick, but not too sick to eat!
You want him to be ill and hungry?
wow Carlee - guess I just missed all that wind - I flew out of Toronto early yesterday morning
we had 2 in last week..one was hallowe'en nite.. the other monday night...white out rain coming in sheets on the one on 401/402 and monday night..rail, hail. snow ( big blinding snowflakes that hypnotize you) plus the winds the try to roll an higher profile vehicle....nasty white knucke driving
all at night too... i didn't have to rake..the wind blew all my leaves off the tree and down the road..my lawn green and empty
SHOT
re5/10?
re plus Spanish aunt.
ty!
You're welcome.
wow Carlee - when my son came home and said it was snowing in Barrie on Tuesday, figured I was leaving just in time!
it was around strathroy... nothing in my city thank goodness..but we have a "bubble" of hot air over us from the petrochemical plants just outside town
interesting icon carlee - now that I'm home time to get back into the themes
fireworks for me, once more.
Hi All, very easy grid, the fastest that I ever finished!
fireworks here also, yes was a very fast grid
<POMPOM TOSS> for angel...woohoo
( tomb of unknown soldier in cairo )
Good morning, all. Congratulations, flosey! This must be a fast one!
it is....easy beasy red....
Congratulations, Angel, too!
Hi there Scarlet, thanks again for the recipes, am very anxious to try them
Good, kattie... I kind of goofed off yesterday, and it felt bloomin' great! :-)
Wonderful that you have them, flosey. Isn't it good to be home after your travels?
Flosey, will you make the rolls, too?
sure is Scarlet, great to see the kids and family but always good to get back home
How is your brother, now... is he in a rehabilitation facility to regain strength and mobility?
yes, for sure Scarlet, will definitely make those rolls, haven't been making bread for a couple of years now but will start with those
Hello Scarlet.
Wonderful, flosey... I hope you like them! Good morning, Haz... working on your Hazlenut book all evening?
I've been thinking about it, Scarlet. These things can't be rushed.
Brother went home Friday and is doing very well on his own, his sons take him shopping, and family upstairs will help if needed
goofing off is good... i'll get to do so... tuesday
excellent news flosey....
That is amazing to me, flosey... the fact that a person can go through such difficult surgery and bounce back to resume life.
When is it happening, kat? I saw a reference to a white tornado... ?
and thanks for all the encouragement from babble friends
I get him tomorrow..today is white tornado..am currently gulping high test to give myself a kickstart....
Haz and Kat, flosey... are you all familiar with the Name Dennis Kucinich? He is a third-tier candidate for the presidency... an intelligent, far-sighted and compassionate man... he doesn't have a chance in the national elections, and may not survive the primaries, but will be in Asheville on Sunday... Beloved and I will go listen to him.
{FLOSEY}}
carlee, are you saying your hubby is coming home?
Well Scarlet, if not this time around, perhaps he'll be ready for next election?
Ah, I get it now, kat... the coffee in, work to follow in its wake... May the Lord help anyone who stands in your way today! :-)
No, haven't heard of him. I have seen Barack Obama, though.
Throw a kiss to Dennis when he's in town.
for a weekend visit....
wow, that's amazing carlee
dennis is the candidate whoproposed impeachment of cheney?
He doesn't have the "sexiness" that most one-dimensional voters seek... Hi, Fiber Art...I will tell him he has MANY fans... I'm not a kisser for candidates, but for YOU... LOL
Exactly, kat!
yea and am a bit scared &^%$less
A discrete little kiss. Hi
Okay, kat, dear... one moment at a time!
Understand fully carlee - all the best
yeap...hence the tornado today...lots of espresso..my music... and whirlwind..as soon as it kicks in....I will be gone
I remember your story about Barak Obama, Haz, and that was impressive.
It was quite a coincidence - we've been tickled to follow his progress.
Obama is the one I was favouring - but perhaps a bit early yet for him too
what happened haz?
I cannot abide Hillary Clinton, and Barak may be too young... but it's politics, and it's always surprising.
( that is how I did and still do feel flosey... first time I saw him he made the key note address at last demo convention and is was stunned )
did you keep him in your cupboard before George?
and I was stunned... *
We were on holiday in Kenya last year and just happened to be staying at the same hotel as Obama and his family in Nairobi. We only discovered later when we tumbled upon a crowd gathered to see him plant a tree in Nairobi.
He is rather brilliant...
oh no atalante...the tabloids will get ahold of haz's secret and and..and....
No, he's never made it to the cupboard, Atalante. All those Secret Service men would give the game away.
hello :))
Hi, Liz... welcome to Politics 101
Hello Liz - ages since I last spoke to you!
Uh oh nnot politics
Yes Haz...while awaiting my brother and co!
not sure whih is more obvious, Secret Service men or gorilla suits
i so miss hearing bill clinton speak... I keep thinking...maybe hillary so once in a while we get to hear clinton speak again...
How did the visit go?
not too bad thanks - the youngest was a nightmare but the others were all ok#
Secret Service men in gorilla suits would be the last straw. Speaking up their hairy arms....
You and FM did make me laugh that day
We try to raise spirits, Liz. I loved the idea of grafittiing the runway.
<snort> that funny haz....*wiping espresso off monitor*
LOL might try that one sometime ;-)
*double snort*
ack I have 20 left and am really struggling now - will have to go to the list
when does dennis speak this weekend red?
*chews* mmmm barley sugar
He will have a book sigining at Malaprops BooK Store, and I have reserved a copy; then he will speak to the group of interested people... then he will go to the Ani DeFranco concert to address the multitudes of young voters who adore him, kat.
Keep a note of how the book signing is organised, Scarlet. FMitch will need the pointers.
Daughter bought her Ani tickets some time ago. LOL, Haz... indeed I shall... just for you, and especialy for FMitch...
Very grateful.
can anyone pls clue me the al 6 and al7 ? Thank you
Done..done..done! Great quick grid. AL6 and 7 were new to me.
very good.. I love watching the run up to american elections... not so sure how this one will end up tho.....its certainly going to be very interesting
hi Gramma
Howdy
Begin with Mr Gore, add three letters for where you sleep and finish off with a vowel.
al+ where you lay your head at night+ a vowel
She is thrilled to be able to see Mr. Kucinich... and felt badly that we could see and hear him... then the television news said he would be at the Ani concert... she leapt for joy!
TY HAz
Must've tried every combo except those!
( I have to ask..how is penguin?)
You're welcome.
hey captain
Oh Haz,ty. I'm finished. I meant I had never heard of it before it.
<POMPOM TOSS> for gramma...woot woot
Well done, gramma.
The little darling is starting to gain some mass, kattie... and has completely endeared herself to daughter... she was delighted with your info, and kept nodding, right, right, right... that's Penguin now... Yahoo for gramma!
Such a smartie... had her first well-kittie visit with a woman veterinarian... and she is healthy and ready to take on the world!
Clues 4 the 8s plz
one other tidbit I thought of... most weggies are fascinated by water... whether it be water droplets on shower doors...or play with the water in their water bowl...hence..indoor water features or a glass of water left on a table...are prime targets... my kiki...should you leave 3 glasses of clear liquids out....will choose the water every time and knock the glass over...for fun
How dare a client come into the office when I'm wallowing in myself.
DE people who put others down
the nerve.... shall I give the client "what for"... ?
ma6/21 anyone please? (Sorry to keep asking)
SH8- when a light bulb breaks and the glass goes everywhere..it really sh8
ma6/21 - plural of ma5/12 - itself an anagram of the first ma5/12.
plural of the 5...sounds like a cutting light of la5,10/ 6,21 combo
Good Morning All, just starting, is this a nice grid
ty gramma
Hi peri, it's nice and easy
yw, movieman
TY all - why do I always miss the plurals
Yes, peri. it's fine.
Back shortly..
me too Haz - see you all later
Work? What do these people expect of me? I'm actually here alone today so I guess I better. See you all tomorrow. Good Lord willing

About the Penguin... how she knocked over beloved's water glass a few times and loves the shower and my bubble baths...
LOL... that is super silly, peri... I am still laughing
hahaha... penguin is a suitable name... didn't get that...but sounds like my 2
Penguin?
And how I had to be very careful to keep the loo cover down at all times.
Penguin is my daughter's new kitten and kattie told me she was a Norwegian Forest Cat... and she IS!
oh okay
is that a good thing or a bad thing, Scarlet
( this type of cat has very typical traits that are pretty exclusive to the breed )
they make for amazing house cats...do not need to be :pure bred" to carry the traits
It is a wonderful revelation, peri... such a sweetie, and so super-smart... we love her. I call her my "grand-kittie", because we had to kitten-sit a few weekends ago.
red was describing some of the "antics" and her appearence... and my gogs went kachunk into place...as i have 2
good everning everyone
Well, kat and peri... I must go grind some coffee... beloved is prowling the kitchen... I'll be back in a bit. Good luck with the cleaning and whatever else you are going to do today, kat... Peri, hope to hear from you soon, dear. {{{Mega-hugs to Kattie}}} and {{{monster hugs to peri]]]]
((((((((((((((Scarlet)))))))))))))))

Awwwww....

Good morning
hi Merk.
hi merk
afternoon all
hi denny
Yay finished without help
wtg fordy
good luck everyone else :)
*Fireworks* and finished without help. Clean and easy.
Congratulations Merk--I thought my chat lgo had stopped working!
All of those double crosses and -er endings with plural created a lot of words.
woohoo, merk!
I see what you mean when I look at the times. I had been gone to breakfast and when I returned, I just put my nose in the grid and didn't pay any attention. Where is everyone?
Unea, ty, it's been a coon's age since I've seen you here.
and congrats, fordy!
I dunno. I'm about to lgo out anyway, so no more chat from meeeee.
I'm here every day . . . must have just missed each other--two ships passing in the ether . . .
Have a good day then, Samantha
Good morning everyone. I am on a 4 day mental health, mini-vacation! Yippee. I will be playing SCrabble all afternoon with friends.
Yes, I am here at odd times. And I travel a lot and download the grid in the early a.m. and upload them in the late p.m.
Welcome to a relaxed four days, scrab!
Well, it won't take you all afternoon Scrabbler. It's a very, very easy grid.
BUT, I am in terrible pain from a hip/pelvis injury sustained on Monday. Sleep was miserable, sitting is much better.
How did you do that, scrab??
How did you injure yourself, if I may ask?
I ignore the fact that I am 48 when I do sports, so i am a warrior on the tennis court, diving and rolling for shots, like a goaltender.
Ah, I C, that would do it.
It is sclerotomal pain, from what my PT friend told me yesterday when he examined me. It is not a disk or hip joint problem. I have some sacroiliac ligamental strain that causes referred pain.
Well, rest away with Babble. That will cure almost anything!
Oh Scrabbler, I'm sorry. that sounds horrible
and hi everybody
Yes, being in Babble Land relieves all sorts of pain.
Doren--no school today?
Hi, Dorens. And bye. The grid is so easy, no one needs clues. So I'm getting back to work.
Bye, Merk.
fireworks, yahoooooooooooooo
really easy grid
No-- Nj has four day weekend for teachers' convention, which I do not attend...going to Boston to visit Phoebe romorrow
Yahooooo crpw48!
yay crpw
ty, be back tomorrow, bye all
Phoebe must be getting to that neat stage of language acquisition--one of my favorites.
congrats crpw, wtg
absolutely.... she called me GAMMA last time i was there... and she runs, not walks. I took her to the Harvard Museum of Natural History, and she showed me around... waving hi and bye to her favorite animals... and grunting at the gorillas
congrats crpw
I continue to be in awe of how toddlers acquire expressive language skills. Think about how hard it is for us to learn a new language (in middle school and beyond) and compare that to how these tots pick things up. I have kids in my practice that are bi and trilingual.
Phoebe's parents are teaching her to sign... and her dad is teaching her a bit of spanish as well.... This is definitely the language acquisition age
So, sitting is comfortable for you scrabs?
Signs are great to teach in infancy and early toddlerhood, as a bridge to verbal skills. I am proud of your son & DIL.
they are amazing.... wish i had been half as good a mother as Liz is. (and I was a stay at home mom)
Sitting is much better. Sleep was awful. I have also figured out that it is easier to walk if I tilt my pelvis forward.
do you have any good meds to sleep tonight? this is certainly the time to use them, even if you're against them in general
I have no big guns, won't write a Rx for myself, am afraid to ask my doc, and generally don't like taking opiates (5 post-op experiences)...but may consider asking my doc if things do not improve soon.
ra6,18 anyone?
Maybe just some Benadryl to make myself unconscious.
you know if you don't sleep well, you won't heal as well
plural ra5, beth
You are right, Doren.
ra6 plural of 5/10
TY for ra5 and ra6
really should wake up today - i keep missing plurals!!
with three s's,, i think there must be a lot of them beth
hey everyone! how are you all? cute scottish fold bethany!!!
hi deb

first part of the asterix comic book druid...ge**fix.
that's it, thank you dorens:)
yw
29 left, guess i'll have to print the list for some help.
hi everyone..
Hi, Aloy and all... this is a breezer grid, and it's going way too fast! LOL
exactly, Scarlet!
:-) I shouldn't be selfish... yesterday was soooo much fun...
Scrabbler, reading back.. so sorry you injured yourself.. hope you heal soon as possible
I am very frustrated with this injury, but I have to be patient.
So sorry, Scrabbler... pain is debilitating.
last time we chatted, Scrabbler.. you asked if the baby had smiled yet; her mom reports huge smiles now.. so i hope to see one Thanksgiving.
Yippee, Aloy
lol, you had me on the internet researching "social smiling" not that i am an anxious first time gramma or anything!
The social smile develops at 44-46 wks post-conception.
translated, is that about 4 to 6 weeks old?
4-6 after the after the due date...so a premie born 4 wks early will smile at age 8 -10 wks.
ah so.. ty
hi aloy, hi red
hi deb!
Hi, deb.
monkies are doing a great job for me this morning.. almost done here
Same here, Aloy.. I am putting in just about anything, and voila!
I have slowed down at 58 to go...let me summon my monkeys.
help with the al6,27, please.
Banana enticement coming from Asheville, Scrabbler!
Not there, yet, deb...
fun, fun.. am proud of myself because i couldn't get on the internet, so I had to call support. Some fella with a very thick accent was unable to help, after eons of advice.. so, I shut everything down, did a "restore" .. and huzzah! victory.. unusual for me in the techno dept..
You're light years ahead of me, then, Aloy.
al6/27 al + what you sleep on + 3rd vowel. Plus plural for 7
dh5/14 pls?
just lucky, Scarlet.. the guy told me I had a software problem.. panic set in! Desperate times call for..
thank you mary
d + not cold + first person singular
I am so intimidated and concerned that I will do something irreversible...
ty aloyisius
yvw
well, if you have "restore", Scarlet.. you are safe
Thank you for the AL, Mary. As soon as I keyed it in, I remembered it as a Babble-word.
What is that and where is it, Aloy? I have refresh... not the same, I take it.
I always dread calling tech support for computer problems. Once I could NOT understand the person (English was NOT the first language) and I was ready to cry with frustration, so I said, "I will call back later."
rats, all done.. now I have to go buy some water softener salt so I can do my white laundry (we have well water).. lol, excitement abounds today!
We have well water too---yucky stuff!
I have the Internet tools in one of the headers, and have used that in desperation.
Scarlet, "restore" function came on my laptop. I found it in the HELP section..
Congrats on finishing, Aloy. Enjoy the day, especially the laundry part.
We had an awful experience with a tech... and she was so nasty that we had to call to say we didn't know what the heck she was saying, and she was sarcastic, to boot...
Congratulations on finishing, Aloy!
My beloved husband is such a gentleman, and I have rarely seen him so flummoxed...
Aha! Finished the whole grid without going to the dictionary at all! ( i usually need it for the last ten or so)...wee!
woohoo, Scrabbler.. (-: Hope you are feeling lots better next time we chat. Scarlet, I'm wishing you trouble free surfing forever.. (-: True, i had a difficult time understanding this gentleman. He meant well, but just frustrated me.. okie dokie, reluctantly off i go to haul 40 lb bags of salt down into the basement.. see you next grid! POOF
Well done, Uniquity!! :-)
Don't fall, Aloy!!
congrats, Uniquity!
Wahoooo Uniquity!!
Bye everyone. Time to get ready for the Scrabble "tournament"/afternoon with friends. We love to play lots of games and eat.
'Bye, Scrabbler... get tons of triple-word knockers!
scarlet, thats what backups are for. even if you did do something irreversible, well you've still got all the important things!
And "bingos"!! (7 letter words!!!)
Hi Ata, bye Ata.
Okay, Ata (good morning to you)... I am relieved to hear that. Go, go Scrabbler!
hi and bye scrabbler!
just never press yes to the question "format drive C?" and most other things are dealable with. computers are fairly sturdy things
That is good advice, Ata. I have gone into many computer instructions, and have cruised through some simple things, but to tell the truth, it is a bit intimidating to me... I am a Luddite, but slowly joining the cyber world.
Hi everyone. Thanks for that info Atalante :)
But, the salvation may be in the book I bought a few weeks ago: Windows XP for Dummies!
Hi, Biltong!
Hi Scarlet, how are you?
Wonderful, thank you, Biltong... trying to go slowly on this, but it's too breezy a grid, and I have to dive into housework today!
And, how are you, Biltong?
its what I keep telling my mother. Poke things and see what happens LOL You're very unlikely to completely kill a computer by pressing a key. Aha! Yay! Salvation! I think the intimidation is more - well - intimidating than the computer itself. Its a box. With wires and chips in. You press something, something happens inside. You wouldn't expect any other box to blow up spectacularly if you pressed a button on it, would you? :)
LOL... perfect logic from a scientist... You give me gumption! Thank you.
Yes, it's a nice one today. I have just popped in for a few minutes, as I also have things to do.
Good logic, Atalante
I think the issue is more the importance people place upon the information inside their computer. I tend to completely reformat every three months or so because I like to start over with a 'clean slate'.
:)
I dump the cache frequently, Uni... exactly my thought process... we have friends who are totally attached to their devices... crackberry maniacs.
Ooh, this is great, just greying one box after another, lol
and yes, the important thing is the information inside it. backup, backup, backup :P keep everything precious on a cd / disc then even if the box does explode, well hey! you get some fireworks and have to take the thing to be repaired. big deal cos you have all the precious stuff on it anyway
great, isnt it Biltong!
sure is!
Music is my only necessity. I have a list of several programs that I like to put back on, but it is just ike my life...I like to try to dump/rearrange things every few months.
**TRY**
Biltong... it's almost too easy... I wonder if this is the lull before the 600 record-breaker that will inevitably bang us on the brains!? :p
mmm, maybe. The calm before the storm?
Yeep!
I won't have much free time to babble as from next week Monday. I am starting a temp job for a month and will have other things to do when I get home in the evenings. I am surely going to have withdrawal symptoms.
oh noooo!
clue for the al8 please
That's very serious, Biltong... how may we help forestall the shakes and shivers? LOL
alcohol
I couldn't face waking up with a hangover in the morning and attempting to get ready to go to work. We'll have to think of something else.
Ether.... ?
chocolate>
Dancing men from Paree?
George Clooney?
*Gasp* Haz will be horrified...
oooh, now chocolate sounds really good. I will have the benefit of walking it off, as it is within walking distance.
lol, Scarlet.
I'm sure she'd lend him out. Its an emergency!
hello, could someone clue the g words?
Well... that is that, Ata... he HAS escaped for the short term...
clue for the al8 anyone?
Haz is going to call you a traitor, Atalante. And besides I don't think that will help. Can you just imagine how tired I'll be in the mornings?
perhaps Biltong already has him stashed away!!
G+ head topper, harp.
AL+ we sleep on a *** + *h, what a beautiful morning!
GE + **ke a walk on the wild side...
LOL, Biltong... either exhauster or energized... it can go either way!
Well, if you scroll back in the chat, unfortunately I really can't remember what time it was this morning, you will see the banter going on about George. Witchy said she had sent him to Haz. Then somebody said their doorbell went. Haz then said she hopes it is not the delivery and asked Witchy if she used the correct address. I then said to Haz sorry to break the news, but Witchy used my address and George has already arrived. Needless to say, Haz was not impressed.
thanks
aha! so you DO have him!! :D
YW.
re5/16 clue pls?
I told Haz I would send him back at the end of next week (that was before I knew I would be starting a job :(
RE+ *et going on this grid + not pa
do you have the Aero man as well?
thank you Scarlet
No, he wasn't with George. He was despatched elsewhere.
wonder where he went then
I must look out for this ad, as I haven't seen it yet.
oh, he's very pretty
thanks scarlet. I was clueing 8 by mistaken instead of 6. I got it. fireworks......
Yes, I believe so! Anyway, I must be off. See you all later. Enjoy!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brz8jjX uKyg

Don't you just love Aeros? That's it! Aeros is the answer to working and babbling.
aeros solve everything!
what's aeros?
Aero - its a UK choolate bar
soooo many bubbles!!!
made by the dreaded Nestle - hi everyone
dang, the UK is so far away from Montana!
athos
sorry!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_(cho colate)
I'll second the aero statement.
hi all
hi all - why dreaded nestle?
I joined the nestle boycott so will vote for green and blacks ;)
Nestle is a nightmare company. But Aeros ....
Hello TO and (spit) witchy.
www.babymilkaction.org or google nestle boycott
They sacrifie babies or something
Oh Haz don't be like that I tried to send them back its not my fault they got intercepted
*wipes stray droplet from haz' unseemly display* wha am i in the middle of?
When certain females harbour certain males belonging to certain other females - you're in trouble!
* passes tissues*
my last 2 words, te5/10 & 6/18 pls?
te*** cotta and plural Mary
the aero boy is still at large!
te5/10 - latin earth preceding cotta in pots, and its plural.
ty, pabtrek, got it.
TY Haz
Aero boy on the loose? I hope he stays somewhere safe, those features are delicate.
ty, gran
yw Mary
he left here holding Georges hand honest, and they both had luggage labels saying "If found wandering return to Haz in NI"
You do realise that I have a namesake in a neighbouring village?
She used to win prizes at the local agricultural show. I used to get congratulated on my skills.
Oh noooooo, sorry Haz
I was SO cross one year when she only came third.
does she like George though?
So, I can see what has happened.
dote
yes, lots of that
She's bound to have taken delivery and said nothing. I see a visit is in order to spring him from her clutches.
sorry wrong box again!!
only Aero boy though. Don't think you'll get George back from Biltong for a month now
Make sure she doesn't take the credit for your forthcoming book then Haz
It gives me time to gather my senses and get that book written.
wot book?
How To Be A Perfect Everything by Haz
will it be worth getting George back, I bet he'll be all tired out
will it be worth getting George back, I bet he'll be all tired out
I can see it all. It's a conspiracy. She got wind of me getting the credit for her accomplishments and she's getting her own back with George and the book.
It's to be my words of wisdom, Babble suggested the title 'Hazel's nuts of wisdom'. I'm worried people will just shorten it to 'Hazel's nuts.'
Deeha, you aren't right next to the sea, are you?
rofl
there's meant to be a 1.5m tidal surge around Kent tonight! Lots of flooding
enbar
will it be worth getting George back, I bet he'll be all tired out
No about 1/2 a mile away.
good!
I'm a kind person, Deeha, he'll be safe with me.
I wondered why you were asking thenm I saw your previous comment!! I'll close all the windows!!
Must go and get dinner ready and organise search party back later
oh yes! It'll be a bit wild adn wet tonight round here I think!
Just rhouyght I am going to a meeting 'on the front' tonight. Still it is in a bar so if we have to stay overnight......!!
perfect!!
I wish I could remem, ber to check my spelling
meh. we understand
We usually know what people are talking about. Usually.
I'd never get anything typed if I checked for mistakes LOl
And some mistakes are funny - whole new concepts to be explored.
definitely!
and there were lots of studies saying you dont need to get all the letters right for people to recognise a word. just the first and last. so just get the majority of letters right and we're fine!
Hxgho, ectyome!
hi vi!
It's when random words appear together that we're foxed.
See, it work!
s
just heard on the radio it's snowing in aberdeen!!
All hail, Vicuna!
wow!
My goodness, Haz, what a gratifying welcome.
I know my place.
get thee on thy pedestal!
Are you pedestalling or Throning today?
It must be the cat in my icon causing everyone's intelligence to go down and inanity to shoot up.
need help with the bottom r, i have re5/10 and re4/6, what's the other one please
cats do that
mine must be shooting up, I havent had to ask for help yet
re + cons and not pa
re5/16
take the re4/6 drop last letter and add two letter word for mother
Otherwise known as the real Elton John's mother (re5/16)
Elton John's middle name is Hercueles
Hercules!
thanks Haz and inge
Is it really?
interesting word, that re5,16
What a nice feeling to be getting smarter, granadan. I haven't felt that way since I was about 15.
it really is
After M Poirot?
it was a question on Eggheads last night LOL
President Warren G. Hardin's G stood for Gamaliel.
Oh, Eggheads. Now they ARE smug.
Harding. Remember, typing doesn't matter.
ohhhhhhhhhh yes
And Morse's first name is?
I could be on that. There, smug levels equalised
flamingheck - fireworks for the first time without help!
oh and thanks gran, sorry didn't see the first clue
Samuel
Endeavour
Mr Code?
Well done granadan. Your intelligence levels are stratospheric. You deserve a pedestal as well.
Yay for granadan!
Ten points to Atalante for Endeavour.
are there some odd A words from that lefthand A? Or am I just being stupid?
named after James Cook's ship
Morse the detective, Morse the inventor was Samuel.
well, you didn't say which, Haz
congrats gran
Yes, I think inge gets points, as well.
This is true. I was hoping you could read my mind. But look, we've got two correct answers.
and why was Morse named after James Cook's ship, Haz?
I named my firstborn child "Beagle" after another famous ship.
The second child is "Titanic."
Beagle??
Because his mother liked the name? I can't remember the reason.... (I'll trudge off and suck my thumb)
I guess better than naming your child "Golden Hind"
Darwin's ship was the Beagle.
cos his father was a Quaker and liked hard-working sorts of names. Or something like that
that I know.
I guess I'm just saying that naming children after ships is not necessarily a good idea.
So, my question is whose ship was named the Golden Hind
It sounds plausible, Atalante.
edmunds?
or maybe magellan
Drake, wasn't it?
Drake
Drake?
Do all Quakers have hardworking names?
nope
Yes! Haz gets....chocolate
Raleigh
Thank you - I'd rather have Aero boy.
oh - a bit wrong - Morse's mother was a Quaker (Quakers have a tradition of "virtue names") and his father was a fan of Captain James Cook.
Oh, right. Drake. (Curses!)
Right I must run and get some dinner on for my poor hardworking man, and poretend I havent spent the last hour onhere! Catch everyone later! *poof*
hey! I want chocolate too!
ANd Atalante. And Mc1. Vicuna and Mark get Cayenne pepper.
Goodbye, Granadan.
Bye granadan - just tell him we're therapy.
*passes galaxy over on the way out*
bye, gran.
*ACHOOOOO*
Sorry, Cayenne got up my nose.
yay fireworks... any clues required?
Galaxy will do nicely.
And yay for Denny!
Pass the disinfectant, someone. Oh, I forgot, no hard chemicals.
Well done Denny.
Only if you want your hosue spotless, Haz.
kudos, Denny. I would like a clue, but don't know what to ask for, uless you can give me hints on odd As from that left hand A. I have 4 of them, can't see the last 3.
Well, there's spotless and there's spotless.... I bought a new vacuum cleaner today, so don't anybody say I haven't got the place clean for George.
The whole spotless thing is ironic in view of evidence on photobucket.
Now you just need to tach George to use the vacuum cleaner and life will be perfect.
teach
inge - al6/27 sounds like a person with white hair and pink eyes just change the last consonant - al7/40 is the plural
Yes, because Spangle is willing but not very able.
*splorfles*
Another tissue to wipe up the mess, Atalante?
Spangle has other talents.
ah, marvelous word! Thank you, Denny I wish I had spotted that.
Inge do you have the bottom?
only if I can chuck it on the floor to add to the mess
I do! the golden hind.
What a question, Denny!
Andwhat an answer!
lol, Inge!
just what i was about to say haz!!
I have 1 ab, 3 al, 2 ar from the left-hand A
inge - 1 more al should do it
thanks denny, will hunt
al4/5
ah, that was easy. Thanks for rescuing me from beating head on desk, Denny.
Atalante, did you go to Hobbycraft?
Thanks, Denny. I needed that one, as well.
nope! at the last second, I found a sketchpad that hadn't been fully used. It staved off the crisis for a day or two!
Yes, there's enough banging of heads on desks goes on around here without others joining in....
That's good.
Hobbit had an extra long walk instead
I've given up on banging my head - it's just permanently stationed there now!!!
hello all! how's the grid today?
Good for Hobbit - did she find the sketchpad for you?
Hello, stidmama.
Stid, hello!
just as an aside - does anyone here have a Live Hotmail account? If so, do you have problems logging on?
Hello stidmama. Everyone seems to love it, they're whipping through it like greased lightning.
it's actually quite fun today, Stid
well inge2! I've missed you! all okay?
no. she should have done! I'll have to train her better
It's been easy so far, but I never know what the last bunch will bring.
good. yesterday's took WAY too long!
Denny, I have one, but it is my "junk" account and I check it only once week.
Denny - I tried logging on and it's gone strange. I gave up in the end and went through other channels.
All is fine, Stid, and you?
It seems to want you to join something else, or update to a new type of account. I'm always suspicious of these new-fangled things.
I keep having problems and then have to go into the classic version which is AWFUL!!!! We are changing our broadband provider and seriously thinking about dumping my hotmail account and just using the one I'm given
I am well today inge, thanks! it's quiet, and I go help at one of the kids' schools in 20 minutes
quick babble break, eh? Nice to see you.
Denny get a gmail account. Free and wonderful.
yes, down to 100 words already!
I agree Inge
I'm quite excited about or changeover 'cos I'm getting a new laptop so I can babble in the evening in front of the tv!!! Heaven!!!
I like gmail -- I also use yahoo for public stuff.
oh denny, that will be so nice!
Hello everyone!
Not heard of gmail - I take it it's worldwide?!
oh yes, denny
Hello Niamh.
hi niamh!
yes very. It's Google's email
Hello, Niamh.
hi niamh!
I love my gmail, I like how it handles back and forth conversations
oh right - might give it a try - just such a pain having to move everything over and tell everyone!! Or does it do it for you now?
(feeling very loved) hugs all around!!
http://mail.google.com
it really is good, denny
yes, a lot of thought went into gmail -- and I like how if someone else uses gmail and is online you can IM them while doing other email stuff
it's got a very good spam filter.
Afternoon, babblers. How goes it?
just send one big email to all friends, denny saying that is your new addy
BGL! hi!
just checking it out!!!
any clue for ed/4? its reli ticking me off lol
Hello, BGL.
Hello BGL.
ed plus male possessive, minus the vowel.

YAY atalante!
Yay for Atalante!
ed4/6 - an anagram of where you store garden tools or what snakes do with their skin.
Well done, Atalante!
nice, ata! And while chatting vigrouously too!
hi all --down to last 2!
lol. ty
Yeah, good point, inge. I reckon I haven't found 10 words since unlurking myself.
wtg atalante
You're welcome.
*smug*
I knew she's be smug.
You don't know the half of it. She's been drawing a masterpiece as well.
re5/16?
I have!
True. And probably IM-ing on the side, as well.
All while cooking a gourmet feast.
re5/16 - short for rule + short for mother
I looked at your deviantart page Atlante... very beautiful! I love your Eve!
And being kind ot animals.
And doing exercises on the treadmill.
IMing yes. Gourmet? not a chance
We've found the flaw in Atalante!
ty vic
And secretly ruling an army of battle robots poised to take over the earth.
oh thank you Niamh! I need to do a decent pic of her, those were done when I couldn't move after a back op and I kept getting the perspective wrong LOL
Don't say that, HAz, or the battle robots will be at your door!
oh yes, that too
better that than George
I never thought of that. No flaw in Atalante, slightly imperfect, but nothing to worry about. You've not poisoned anyone with your cooking, have you?
not yet
(Good recovery, Haz. I'd hate to see George have to sacrifice himself to defend you.)
Thanks Vicuna. I needed the warning.
fireworks!
Why do you think Ata has set up poor FM to be the whipping child? So no one will criticize herself.
yay pk!
Yay for pk!
Well done pk!
thanks -- any lurkers need clues before i go?
*gasp*
I just thought it was written in the babble constitution that FM was to blame. You mean it's a conspiracy?
Isn't everything part of the conspiracy?
she was to blame way before i was smug
Is your name Mohammed Al Fayed, Vicuna?
I mean, just look at duck-billed platypuses. They are *clearly* a hoax.
*ponders which of the eggheads is the smuggest*
well i've set up a gmail account - just trying to figure out how to import all my addresses from hotmail!! Thansk for the suggestion happy babbling all!!
No, no. Haz. I'm just one of the folks in the tinfoil hats to protect me from the CIA's mind control beams.
Can you buy one of those hats in Harrods?
Whoop - Fireworks!
Well done Becca!
No, you should make your own. That way you can add whatever personal touches seem prudent, such as fake foliage for camoflage or mirrors for extra deflection, or those whistle things to warn deer off the highway when you drive at night...
Is there any sewing needed?
Thanks Haz - fairly easy grid today
lol Vicuna! YaY Becca!
Jest procure a roll of aluminum foil and start wrapping!
That sounds like a plan. No doubt Atalante's tin foil hat wil be a work of art and she'll be really smug about it.
Oh yes. Hers will be an art deco masterpiece worthy of "Metropolis" or something.
It makes you sick, doesn't it?
so funny you mentioned Metropolis ...
And each of her battle robots will have an individual identifying mark representing its special skills and the birth flower of the month when it was constructed...
Because she has been nominated for an Oscar!
she could start a new showcase of tin hats... maybe even get them up for sale in Harrod's
Why's that, Ata?
want to see what I'm working on at the moment? *giggles*
A tin foil hat?
Oh dear.... Yes, of course I want to!
hmm... Metropolis... does it have to do with Superman?
check out the first pic in my flickr :)
Hold onto your tin foil hats. We're about to see what Atalante's working on...
LOL! I KNEW IT!!!
that's a protocol droid!
It was all true!
(Fluent in over six million forms of communication, at that.)
Anyone else hearing the X files music?
*grins* its going to be Star Wars a la Metropolis
No, I'm afraid I can't hear the X-files music over the buzzing in my tin foil hat.
very nice work Atalante
See, I haven't got mine made yet.
I'm hoping it'll work out ok. Loads of people won't get the Metropolis reference I'm sure, but that;s their problem
It should be fun, at any rate.
There's always google.
*still laughing that you mentioned Metropolis*
Metropolis and robots and such were in my head because my son had brought home from the library some books about robots.
Evidently the tin foil hat was insufficient to keep your vibes out of my head, though.
:):)
Back to square one, Vicuna. The Harrods models are probably superior, as befits one on a pedestal.
And I still haven't found any additional words. Sigh.
If you didn't know us any better, you'd think it was a conspiracy to slow you down.
you mean it's not a conspiracy??
But wait... if Ata designs the ones in Harrods, surely she'll make it so they can't stop her bid for world domination...
anyone know the sh5/12 s or the sh6/21. theyre not in the english dictionary but may be in your american dictionary lol
Ah, well, if I am honest, I have to admit that I'm complicit in the chatter.
mohammed al fayed likes world domination, I think
So we need to warn Mohammed that there's a conspiracy about a conspiracy and to trust no-one.
that's true Vicuna, but at least it would be a beautifuly artistic world
I have an sh5/12 that's a young pig.
sh5/12 - one adds a vowel to the sh4/5, the other doubles the consonant on the end.
just dropping in for a sec, to point out that you can finish the grid by doing 5 words per hour. How about taht Vicuna?
i have the young pig
they are utterly in the english dictionary ;)
Hello inge.
True, Niamh. Most distopias are portrayed as soulless worlds without art.
Thanks, inge!
ah, mitchell, babble doesn't use an English (or American) dictionary. It uses a dictionary called "Enable," which is for a language that resembles English in some, but not all, respects.
Heh, look at all those new words I just added!
Code red, Atalante, Vicuna is making a break for the babble finish.
u can probably tell my patience is runnin low if im lookin in the dictionary lol
how many left, Viiii?
19 to go. So I guess that's about 4 more hours for me...
easy peasy
well, I am off again. Just had to pipe up Hellow and goodbye, Haz, Ata, Vicuan, mitchell, Takkuma, and all the rest
Yeah, maybe easy if there wasn't this conspiracy to keep me too distracted to search!
bye inge!
ciao inge
Bye inge - nice to see you.
Bye again, inge.
*spelling does not count, right?
Right!
3 hours left...
Well, I'm going to withdraw from the conspiracy for a while. Even conspirators need to eat. Bye for now!
byeeeee!
bye Haz
Goodbye, Haz! =)
woo. i have the sh5/12s just need the sh6/21 now
Bye!
any clues for the sh6/21?
ciao haz
I'm off too, guys. good luck all
Bye, Takuma!
hi yall
Looking for it, too, Mitchell.
lol
bye Takuma... *checks to see if I smell* ;(

Oh, thanks, pida!
did u get sh6/21 vicuna?
take the 4/5, add a vowel, and pl your welcome,Vi
(nah, nia -- just finished up lunch (speaking of which, 'rabe' is no good?), so it's time to get back to work
Yes, Mitchell. Pl of one of the sh5/12's.
dang work... it keeps interupting my Babble time too! have a good day Takuma!
i tried that earlier and i swear i didnt work. got it now anyway, thanks!
I feel the same, Mitchell. lol
hehe
Well, by inge's calculations I have about an hour's worth of work remaining here, but I'd better get a bit of other work done before meeting the darlings. Ata, let me know when your world domination is complete.
Goodby, all!
bye Vicuna
I will!
Give me a day or two ;)
What did the grape say when the elephant stepped on him?
ouch!
Nothing. He just let out a little wine.

something strange happened here, which one of you computer whizzes might be able to explain; I had about 30 pictures in my picture gallery, all past icon photos. Just now I wanted to look at them and they have disappeared, not in the deleted file nor in the reycle bin. Can anyone explain how that could have happened?
maybe the file name got changed, or the folder got moved
no expert, but perhaps the file may have been 'moved' into another file accidently. I would look at the others close to it
well inge it could be lots of things, do you have any pictures anywhere that you can open?
inge, is the file type selector at the bottom of the viewing window set to something other that "all"
OK will try
you can also try a search for *.jpg inge
have downloaded any kind of a new picture viewer that may have taken over the pictures and moved them into its files?
I've had all sorts of fun with picture viewers, that seems most likely
or perhaps used the open this type of file using this program where it opens a list of applications? sometimes that will mess things up as well
so far I was able to open photos from desktop in the Easy Share file, most of those photos can be recreated, just so much work. They were darn handy for changing icons.
thanks for all your suggestions. Will investigate and post any positive results.
is the easy share file the program you normally use to open pictures? did you update any programs like media player or anything?
if you can find one of them the others will be there too
so look at the ext where it has been moved to, after you do a find, then you can go get them and move the folder back where you had it
All I did is call up a link to a German restuarant in Houston, which a friend sent me. Afterwrds the emial file claimed I had sent an email to myself, which they could not deliver. I was stumped then already. Could all this be the work of a virus?
hmmm try this
try doing a system restore and see if it puts things back to rights
that's a possibility, do you have anything like AVG or spybot?
and most definiately run a virus check on your computer
yes, I do have AVG checking every incoming mail; I will have hubby run system restore, right now he refuses to come upstairs to my desk
you can do it
OK, give me the steps to follow and I will try
go to start/programs/accesrories/systemstool s/restore
you can do it, inge! Its easy :)
then just pick a date before you did the e-mail thing
dummy at the controls: do I type in all those words from melieae
go to start in the lower left
click it then all programs then accessories etc
you actually wont click but rather highlight each option until you get to the system restore one, you will click on the system restore which will bring up a window
bye everyone. hope you get it all back Inge
bye lynxx
I think I'm heading out as well! good luck Inge, bye everyone.
please help clue al6,27 and al7,40

hello, all ye helpful babblers. System restore did not bring back the pictures, but I can collect them again soemhow.\
Whatever happened to the windup phonograph and telephone>? Those I knew how to service.
awwww oh well
awww darn =(
lol inge I agree
AVG clalims I have a Trohan horse infection
get rid of it NOW
Do I let the test run all the way through first?
yes, let it run, then get rid of all infected files
then run it through again
OK, will do
you may need to run it a few times to get rid of all nasty files
Inge if you know a name ie photo.jpg do a search
fireworks!
hi everyone!
hello everone. bubblepop r u there?
looks a bit beyond me tonight ,finding it very difficult
yes i'm on
well done ypsigirl!
well, I empty the vault and got rid of that TRojan horse, now I am running the AVG scan again for securty sake
good. Trojans have a habit of popping up again, so don't be traumatised if it reappears, but hopefully not!
could that Trojan have deleted all my pictures? The ones on the desktop were not affected.
unlikely, but possible
Trojan horse reappeared just now, So I will do it one more time
try it again. if it still reappears, you have to go to lvl 2 of killing it!
what is lvl 2?
well, firstly its hoping that someone has already put out a patch for it
actually, can you see what the trojan is called?
phantom word of the day....method...driving me nuts
Trojan Generic 9 HLR
I'll have a scout round for you
actuaally it is Trojan horse Generic 9 HLR
hmmm nothing's coming up under that name. when the scan's finished, click on it and see if the programme gives you any more information
we are at 16 minutes now
there is a dot between the 9 and the HLR
merryle are you on?

Hi Min!
Hello stidmama!I just got fireworks two minutes ago!
I am down to 25, maybe time to hit the list.
YAY Min!
I am here to clue!It is pretty easy with the list.I was able to finish the grid with list, but didn't need clues.
okay, since I am stalled for the last ten minutes, I'll grab the list. back soon!

what is "the list"? thanks
Congratulations stidmama on fireworks!Good for you
Hello gapeach1066! How are you? Welcome to puzzle!
thanks min! and hi gapeach!
ty Minveryork
congrats stid!
gapeach, go to Lickety's Babble Clues at the bottom of the page and it will give you a list of words for the grid. It gives the 1st two letters, how many letter in the word and point value for that word. It helps a lot
That is also how we ask for clues if we need any help.
good evening all!
Hi mamabear! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
good min, and you?
I am doing well.Just finished the grid not too long ago
just wondering if I should start it myself
It's an easy one, Mama.
Yes you should. It is not too hard if you have the list.
And hello all!
hi krista
hi krista
Hello Krista! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Thank you, Min! Are you cold up there?
Yes I am Krista. It just started getting cold.We were spoiled w/warm weather for awhile. But no snow yet!
Same here, and I"m not enjoying the cold, but the leaves are gorgeous now! I had to drive to Baltimore and it was just beautiful along the highway.
It is beautiful here too. Now that I am commuting to and from work (hour to and from), I get to enjoy the leaves! Fall's my favorite season because of the leave
How are you feeling today, Mama?
tired, kista. stress test was yesterday and today was lumbar epidural procedure
didn't make it to work this morning, unfortunately
Grid yesterday would have made me fail a stress test
LOL min

I'm glad the Babble gods gave us a break today.

thanks annie - I had these procedurs done 2 years ago, but am needing them again but so far this time they aren't helping and they will only do 3
If you look in peoples' profiles, like Annie's, there is often a "pirate name" at the bottom. They are so funny.
I had surgery to replace 2 cervical discs 6 years ago
Krista, I believe it is our other dear pirate, Nutty....try http://babble-cast.blogspot.com/
oh, ok Krista thanks
mama, Hopefully this one will work for you, my prayers are with you
Thanks, Annie. Don't see anything there. I'm sure the Nut will show up here later and I'll ask her.
thanks Annie . I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago for a couple days with chest pains, thus the need for the stress test yesterday - that did not make my back happy
Krista, I am really sorry, I am terrible at anything computer releated
No worries! It's nothing urgent. :)
mama, all the aggravation with your back would give a person chest pains
it's possible it's all related Annie - but for now trying to deal with it all, it is aggravating the fibromyalgia and IBS.... and can't take off work right now
And all those conditions are exacerbated by stress, big time. Wow.
al 6 and 7?
yes, Krista - and stress is a huge part of my life right now
mama, stress does a lot of funny things...
Sounds like it, Mama.
I don't have those a's, Mama. sorry.
yes it does Annie - but usually i don't find it making me laugh! LOL
ok thanks anyway
Min?? Come out come out!
stress does do funny things, make me poo, poo is funny
Speak of the pirate, and she shows up. How do I bestoweth myself with a pirate name? Is there some pirate name generator, or is that you?
yeah I want one too!
lemme find it for you krist
plz
it's here - http://www.piratequiz.com/
Aw, you're a good Nutty Buddy.
I have a really stupid question.... I am drawing a complete blank on what the numbers in the Tile Stats mean like C 3/3 means there are 3 C words - but what is the second 3? please don't laugh at me...

nope....you have to at least pretend
I am Captain Bess Rackham
Does anybody have a hint for the te6/18? I can't find it and it's driving me crazy!
I'll do your rum, krista, no problem
I OVERdid it once and can't go back to it...I think Fran is a Rackham, Mama.

Hello Mom!How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
Hi Min, doing just dandy. How are you?

hi Dan
yes, I'll have to get my last 4 later..hungry guys just came in from Tae Kwon Do..catch you nice people later..thanks for your help
bye bye Krista, hurry back
:) See ya soon
mom, love the takeoff on Darth
later, Krista
hey, dan
thank you Tyger, it was a Christmas present to my boys one year. They always played with Mr. Potato Head and love Star Wars
this grid is easier for Brits than Murkans, there are several Brit slang words that are unfamiliar to most of us
there are several odd words for me today
there are a few that I don't recall seeing before
of course, I *always* wind up having to use the word lists. I had two different closed head injuries when I was in my 20s, and there are always some words I know that I just Do Not See - in addition to the weird words nobody uses
but it's my understanding that this sort of thing is "good exercise"for me, to help me keep from losing more
but some words today, like the very last one - to4/5 - that I only know because I read some British fiction
whee! fireworks for me. Thanks all cluers
congrats, dan
congrats Dan
it's time for me to go eat, etc. I'll be back in a little while
I am so sorry Tyger, to hear about your head injury
bye bye Tyger
well, they happened in 1966 and '69
back in a while
Hi folks.
hi
{{Scrabbler}} hello
How are you, Mom? Is your Sweetie back from Baltimore?
Hi Pigenstien
hi
doing just fine, Scrabbler. How are you? My sweetie will be home tomorrow.
hi
I was just taking to the boys to get them to meet us at Cracker Barrel for lunch to surprise their dad.

evansville

I am in Covington KY

not really
our oldest went to U of L for 3 semesters
and he would talk about going over to Evansville

have you finished Pigenstien?
Anyone finish the grid yet? I have 19 to go. I spent the afternoon playing Scrabble with a friend.
brb in bout 4 minutes
how many do you have left Scrabbler
how was your afternoon?
bye Pigenstien
I have 4 left
I see you have 19
First we played SuperScrabble, with the huge board and double the number of tiles. I was close until the end when my friend had 2 great turns and pulled ahead. Then we played regular Scrabble and she whooped me. As my Scrabble Self-Esteem score has plummetted, I am here to raise my Babble Self-Esteem score.
so sorry Scrabbler, finishing this will end the day on an up beat note
We had fun and she usually beats me, so I don't feel bad. I am more worried about my hip/thigh pain and hope it is not from a herniated disc.
3 left all T's
Go Mom go!

Guten Abend, Freundin Scrabbler. I was about to turn in, read up in the log,and saw you. Can I clue you>

Hi Mom and pigenstien
This location is new. Twice in the past I have had a herniated disc at L5-S1, with left sided sciatica. This pain is intense and severe, but around my right hip. Please make a diagnosis for me.
Hi Inge. How have you been doing?
I am currently looking for re5/16.

Hi Gwen
Doing well. Eyman became an Opa last Tuesday
don't have a diagnosis, Scrabbler. But suggest rest and plenty of Scrabble and Babble.
The pain began Tues and was in my sacroiliac region. yesterday that was gone but the pain was in my hip and front thigh--excruciating. Sitting helps.

Hasn't hit the over-the-hill age bracket (yet)
Donde esta la cerveza? La cerveza es en al bano!

and what is the over-the-hill age bracket, momof5? (Wicked giggle)
under 43 (teehee)
lmj - just looked up your icon. seems we are in similar age category and location. What else do you like to do?
Over the hill is always the next hurdle that you haven't gotten to yet!! LOL
Momof5, my mother(born in 1898) had a very strict father who wouldn't allow her to talk to boys so she and her b/f at the time used sign language from the window to talk to each other and he never knew
i have 2 grown daughters, 25 & 22, oldest married in April 07, other to marry Sept 08
what a good story jill!
i paint, read, love jigsaw puzzles
I'm sure my girls are enjoying their ability to talk w/o me knowing 'everything'; I use shorthand to write things that I don't want them to read.
you are all so color coordinated!

My kids are still at home. Three in HS; one in middle; one in elem. I l-o-v-e to do puzzles, read, paint! WOW we are alike.

te 5/10 please
Not sure what the south coast of England (up as far as Kent) is going to wake up to. A 3-metre tidal swell heading down the North Sea is about to hit a high tide at 7am, and, if the winds don't slow down, major flooding is predicted.
Yes, jilli. You keep me up to date on the goings on in Weatherfield.
sorry, had to go refill wine glass
can I have some, lmj?
te5/10 - te*** firma (earth)
te + double cons + vowel
*passes glass to angel*
doh thank you
jac, I heard about that horrible approaching weather and thought of you and sprite
ahh...thanks
Among others
mel - you can also plural it for the te6.
how many left?
jilli - yes, Sprite, the coast of The Netherlands is also under threat.
imj, good thing you didn't pass gas to angel (sorry)
fireworks for me =)
31 now...I am in class so occasionally have to pay attention
YAY mel!!!
Hopefully, Sprite is too far inland for it to be a worry and, anyway, Holland's flood deferences are far better than UK's.
good example, considering your profession!
short grid after the last one, lol
that's coming, pizza in oven haha
wtg meliae!
Well done, Mel.
Congrats, mel. Yesterday was a tough one
MUst leave for a bit and follow the doings of Terrible Tracy, plus grab supper...
Well, I know, but it's do this or fall asleep.
Congrats, mel!!!
'deferences'? LOL! meant 'defences'.
bye jilli
it's funny, right now i'm between jobs and can't seem to finish a grid, but when i was working i usually finished them by end of work day!
nite jilli
'Bye, jilli. Fill me in one the details when next we meet. x
adios jilli
angel, how many more sessions for your class?
yes, the hard part for me is to keep a straight face when I read the chat log...a smile in this class is a dead giveaway.
Well, I may not be tired but it seems my typing/spelling bits are!
I'm done in 3 weeks.
what next for you?
Clue for bl 5/14, please?
bl + v*** what you put cut flowers in
angel - I've not been in the chat long enough to see what class you are in... a smile gives it away? Are you learning to be a funeral directors?
ty, momo
no problema
bl5/16 sounds like a fire.
de 5/16?
Jac! Please don't make me smile! No, I am taking a teacher education course on reading/language arts. Necessary for me to get a credential, but beyond boring.
That's why my kids have a hard time staying away in their lang arts classes!!
angel - that sounds like a course that could include smiling.
de5/16 = de + drinking den.
de + type of pub (place to get a beer)
Thanks, Jac and momo
correction, staying 'awake'
Althoug, most teachers would hope they couldn't stay 'away'
do 6/21, last?
LOL, mom.
Yes, Jac, it could. However, the instructor is rather dry and teaches straight from the book. GIven that I just quit teaching math methods courses at university, I do my best to be a good student, but...
double crosses of do5/12 (first one)
do6/21 (last) = one who puts spots on things (polka ones maybe?)
angel - you have my sympathy.
Thanks again, Jac.
thanks!
em 5/16?
and thanks momo, too.
em + pub
ty, momo
ho 6/21?
No problem. I finished earlier today and only joined tonight for the chat and clues.
I have abn aunt whose name is 'Dorothy May' - she's 59 now, and got all the Dorothy may do this, that and the other jokes when at school... just as she hits the age not to be teased, she gets called do*.com.
hot6/21 = warmer.
Here fishy, fishy! Thanks, Jac.
hi everyone
re 5/10?
angel, did you fall asleep, or did the teach become interesting?
Hi, Ping!
part of an eye
mistress - me madre's name was dorothy may
hey ya ping!
Hi Ping
Thanks, momo
sort of...she is discussing what we need to turn in this week and next week. Changing what she said in syllabus and causing general panic in the class
sure, anytime
Ren - was it? Aw. xx
hi jellen, rennie, and momo
sh 7/32?
jellen, feeling better?
Isn't that always the way. #2 child has jazz choir prior to school hours. Each month is a new schedule, then I get the revised version due to holidays. sheesh
sh to break a plate
sh7/32 = to break (as glass).
Nevermind on the sh 7/32. Got it. Thanks, Jac.
I'm feeling much better, Ping, although still get tired easily.
Thanks for asking!
Hi, ping.
Hi Ping and Jellen and Jac

Hi, doxy

Hi TO
hey owl
Hi, TO
Jellen - Oh! I didn't know that. I hope you're on the mend now?
I might actually have time to do that in the next little while. just changed jobs. It isn't cold enough here for stew yet, we've had pretty warm temps this week.
my baby had pneumonia at the same time
Got it, momo
next two rhyme, but different spelling and plural
no hospital stay, though, thankfully
hi to
IS the baby better ?
Ooh, scary. I hope she is healing fast.
aye me beauties - it be time to weave me way to me cabin ((ping's baby))) take care
Ren - was your Madre as do**y as my aunt is?

hi TO
TO's a teachers' pet! LOL
it's going fine, mom! and you?
Jellen, did you get the sh words?
okay, she's back to talking about thingsI've already learned
I'm great. It's a quiet evening to be with babblers.
done!
to just found out tonight she is sitting on nearly three weeks' vacation that she cannot take by the end of the year : (
congrats jellen!!!
wtg, Jellen!
WTG JELL!! WOOHOO!!!
Hope I don't get a fox or a stray cat in the house; just had to open the back door to let the cigarette smoke out. Can't have office window (at front of house open) as mad neighbour has been round again complaining she can smell smoke. (She's only done that since she gave it up herself.)
yay jellen
TO, why can't you use them?
wtg jellen!!!
TO - can you get them carried over?
Well done, Jellen.
Done
Yay, DR.
way to go DR!!
Well done DR.
Yay for DR!!
Angel, how much more time in class?
hoorah for doc!
Thanks all for clues and congrats.. time to get kid washed up before Ugly Betty
i am missing the first three al words....
probably another hour...I have to do a presentation (5 mins) in a bit. Otherwise, should be enough to get the puzzle done.
Thanks Ping- Good to "See" you
bye DR - say hi to the kiddo
you too, doc!
al + place you sleep + round vowel,
have a good evening
al7 is the plural.
Bye Angel- hope other angel feels better
first two al + ab word + circle vowel; then plural
thanks.
no my esponsibility to take them and i have not even scheduled them and now i have a dealined project due 31 december
no my esponsibility to take them and i have not even scheduled them and now i have a dealined project due 31 december
al4/5 following is like the money for the poor but with a vowel ending.
I just realized I've been clueing that wrong all night. That would put an extra 'a' in the word. Sorry.
de6, second one?
de + v*** thing you put cut flowers in
that's okay, momof5 - not like any of us noticed...
My Beloved got major bad news on the 'phone last night. His Dad rang to say his (my Other Half's) Mum has to have a double mastectomy on 26th Nov. She has Paget's Disease of the breast.
add second cons between the de and the ***
de + ****ball, with nine players
how about last ma5?
thanks, got it
rass
oooooppppsss....sorry
last ma5 sounds like a place you might get lost in (with a z in the middle).
Sorry to hear that, Jac.
You just clued your own ma word
how awful, jacula - so sorry to hear that!
Jellen - so was I. But I'm glad she's gone and seen someone about it at last.
thanks!
jac, did she know something was wrong when she went to the doctor?
Well, I think I will sign off. Got to pick up child #4 from youth group. It's been great chatting with everyone. Night to all!
Ping - she's known since early summer. She told us about it and I begged her to go and see the doctor. Her stance then was, 'You see a doctor and they chop you about and make things worse!' I don't know who finally got her to see someone... I'll ring her later today.
G'night, momof5, and thanks for the clues!
Nite momof5 -- glad I got to *see* you tonight.
'Night, Mom.
night mom
wow, she sounds tough, jacula
night momo
She's a strong lady, ping. However, strong and proud etc., doesn't always prolong life. I know where she's coming from with it... but, when it comes down to it... you want to live to see your grandchildren grow up, if possible, don't you?
first re5?
i think that i would, jac
angel -re5 = car number abbreviation + little mother.
re5= short for rule + not Pa
Me, too, Ping!
ty jellen
ty jac and jellen - i needed that one too
jac, just looked it up. doesn't sound good.
My Mum and I discussed this subject earlier, ping... having seen so many family members die from cancer sometimes due to pride and sometimes to embarrassment at 'being seen', and seeing my Dad go through all the indignity that Alzheimer's (dementia) brings... we say, 'If medical science thinks it can do something then we will take it!!'
could you summarize it, dox?
it is cancer of the nipple. 95% of those with Paget's disease of the nipple have an underlying breast cancer. Also very rare.
I hope things get better for you and your family jac.
i'm with you, jac
Dox - I looked it up, too. I think the prognosis looks good. The only thing I wonder is if it was caused by her spending 12 years on HRT? She was forced off it by a new doctor coming into the practice. Whatever, since I am now in 'the change' myself, and was against going for HRT, it's made my mind up NOT to.
it's a tough decision jac. I haven't made up my mind yet.
Paget's isn't exactly cancer of the nipple. Here's a site to read:http://tinyurl.com/2tk56r
doxy - what symptoms with you? Hot flushes, night sweats or the 'chopped liver' scenario. (Won't go into detail.)
just some flushes. usually every evening about this time. I feel like I want the fan turned on.
Anyone need any clues amonst all of this?
yes, please: last re5
re + Spanish aunt
doxy - only the fan turned on? I need to throw my clothes off! (Not the Other Half complains about that... unless it's the bedclothes and it's a cold night. LOL)
thanks, jellen -- i feel like I should have known that one.
Fireworks!
I am usually pushing the blankets off during the night also. Only my feet get cold.
Well done, angel.
Congrats, angel!!!
congrats angel!!
Thanks!
wtg angel!
A+!
doxy - me too, re the feet. Bed socks are NOT sexy but they do help you sleep.
may have to try that.
Doxy, I went to a workshop recently where the presenter asked us if it was hot in the room, or if she was having her own "personal summer".
I understand that one
angel - my 'personal summers' often occur just as I'm trying to pay at the supermarket checkout. (Must be the exertion of doing all that fast packing!)
Fireworks!
or thinking of all the money you had to spend!
yay doxy!
congrats doxy
I am so tired--been fading on and off chat. ((((())))) to all who need it--for themselves and their families. I can't figure out who has Paget's but good luck.
I am so tired--been fading on and off chat. ((((())))) to all who need it--for themselves and their families. I can't figure out who has Paget's but good luck.
Congrats, doxy!!!
Well done, Doxy. Hope the fireworks don't make you perspire. LOL
pam - my Other Half's Mum has it.
hi pam
Ping - I think Pam may have just fallen asleep.
oh - hope i didn't wake her up!
have to go give my presentation -- 'bye all!
Today's grid took me 45 mins to do (and that was counting meandering off to feed the cat).
LOL, Jac. Hi, Ping. And, sorry, Jac.
let um have it, angel!
However, I did see someone say earlier that this grid 'is easier for Brits than it is for Murkans'. (I assume 'Murkans' are 'Americans'?
Go back to sleep, Pam. *strokes Pam's hair*
Bye, angel
didn'
'Bye, angel.
didn't take me too long today
Any bets on the size of the next grid? I'm wavering between 70 and 260.
done
Congratulations, Ping!!!
I really like the 200+ word grids. You usually get 2 thirds easily.
Well done, Ping.
thanks
Then, as I was saying about the 200+ grids, you've got a bit left to do in the evening.
Anyway, everyone's gone now until Herin pops up again. Maybe I should go to bed... gonna have to put my ear plugs in though. My Love's restless, but I wouldn't expect him to be anything else after the news he got earlier about his Mum.
i'm beat - must sleep - jellen, continue healing - and jac, hope thing can go well for your paul's mom
Thanks, Ping.
good night
Good night
night ping
Goodnight.xx
I think I'm off to watch some TV before the flip. Might even get around to finishing the laundry!
later jellen
Helo
You summoned me Jac
Jellen - I did about 4 hours' worth of ironing earlier, but there is still a 2' high pile of daughter's clothes left to do... if you have the time. *grins*
hi herin
Hiya, Herin, I knew you'd pop up!
Yep. My pc has been defraging for ever. Jac what is this about your mother in law?
Just had to open back door again so I didn't choke on the smoke, How come I can liive in this house for almost 28 years with no probs and suddenly I get an epileptic woman (smoke is the thing they smell the most when their meds aren't correct - which hers aren't) and then I get the neighbour from hell in her pj's. ringing my doorbell at 3.30am on the night we in UK changed clocks?
herin - she has Paget's disease of the breast and has to have a double mastectomy on 26th Nov. She told me early summer about the problem with the scab there etc.
herin - I saw you asking dcs about spybot earlier in the chat. It's free. If you can''t download that try AdAware.
Something, Herin, is eating up your pc power, as dc told you.
Jac i have tried Adaware and all that crap does nothing. I think its having a poo fit. Any way sorry about the mother in law.
Jac your neighbours are nuts
I think i need to get the b.f to look at the memory and see what is assigned to what
back after dinner and Jeopardy and now Shama's History of Britain on TV. There still is some good stuff around.
I know, herin, my son just said same thing to me.
Hi Jill.
Re the neighbours, Herin, though he might well have said same re pc, had I got your problem with that.
Jac when himself comes home i will have him look at it
Sheesh, I thought I was a nightowl but dear od jac has me totally beat.
Hello again, jilli.
I believe that there is something not assigned right with the pc.
I'm still awake, jilli. Other Half is not going to be happy with me still being up when he gets up soon.
ok i to study and readjust my head
jilli - not trying to be in competition.
jac, your o/h could mhob if all goes well
any way i have been summoned and now i must leave.
no competition intended, jac, lol!
Am wondering if I should give myself at strict 10.30pm bedtime (though I've never gone before 12.30 unless I had to be up at 6).
ttfn lady ;)
jac, same here, and there's no use trying when our biol ogical clocks are set askew like ours.
Neither has my Mum, and she's in her 70s.
anyhoo, it's only 8:40 pm here now, and I'm sipping a very small Grand Marnier on ice in a small snifter.
But, when your Other Half's a trucker who has to be asleep by 9 (10 at the very latest)?
circadian clocks please! I don't want to know about your biological askewness! LOL
Well, that doesn't seem to hold you back, jac!
MRP - I'm stil compiling a list of youtube vids for you.
when I say I don't want to know, I mean I want to know, but maybe they don't want to know LOL
oh good jac! looking forward to it after lickety's choice today
ok, mrp -- you're right! Circadian clocks askew here -- according to all the early birds, who IMHO are the ones askew :)
MrP - go into the archives for latest bad news from me!
bad news, jac?
what bad news?
I don't troll around through the archives... what happened jac?
MrP - as you know, I don't use your hubby's helpful list, being a stubborn Taurean type who likes to do things for herself. I do catch up on the vids, at times though.
Other Half's Mum has Paget's disease of the brest and has to have a double mastectomy on 26th November.:(
*breast
oh bugger!! so sorry to hear that jac!
What WAS Lickety's choice today??
Didn't realise it was your mother-in-law, jac. Double mastectomy can be a good choice -- no residual pain, no radiation, no chemo.
some Weird Al Yankoffvich video, like a surgeon (like a virgin parody)
Oh bugger, indeed, MrP! Life's fanfare that, is it not?
Not my fave video, mrp and jac
Oh, I know the one, MrP. Love Weord Al, but not all of his songs.
Nipping back to kitchen now, where door is wide open, to make sure no badger, fox, stray mouse, shrew, slug or cat is on the way in. Or, come to think of it, burglar!
kids just got home... will go look up info on Paget's and educate myself.. say well dear jac! see you at flip
Interesting. Weird Al gathers more attention than double mastectomies.
'Bye MrP. x
jilli - I think we just don't want to think about mastectomies.
Well, I've had a lumpectomy and radiation and know whereof I speak.
No one wants their bits chopped off if truth be told.
But if it means staying alive....
jilli - I know!xxx
So nm, and hoist a Grand Marnier to your M-I-L
I hail the day when that SG-Atlantis technology, or even 'Eureka' technology becomes a reality - and we can b healed without resorting to butchery.
I raise my glass to you, jilli.
Things have improved so much in the last 20 years and will improve even more.
xoxoxo jac
M-I-L (who'd like to be but isn't 'cos he's still not divorced and not inclined to remarry since his first flush of pain when he said will you marry me? and I said no. Wait a bit. has waned.
LOL.
Sorry for no punctuation in that.
Lullaby, and good night, jac
'Night, jilli. Heal well.xxx
Oh, I'm all healed, but there's lingering discomfort.
Enuf, awreddy -- getting another sip of Grand Marnier on ice. :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t894eGo ymio (Brham's Lullaby)
hello all, 73 to go here!
Jilli - if you're still here... my Mum's friend got a double mastectomy and a reconstruction earlier this year. Reconstruct parts wer taken from her tummy, so she got a tummy tuck, too! That was great! Hoever, 2 weeks before she had the breast op., she had an operation on her bunions. What's still hurting now? The bunion site, not the breasts, nor the tummy.
anyone have em 5/16 or 6/27?
it's the same root as de5/16 if you have that mkg
mkg - what you do to dead people to keep them looking fresh.

veryyy verrryyy sneaky
yes, though it was a fun board nonetheless.
yeah...just no words through the middle :)
hi dcs and moo !! :))
only 7 vowels... better than the 15 we had the other day. I hate a grid full of i's
¡Aiiii, yi yi yi!
Oh yes -- Diwali -- I should have remembered. My granddaughter is a teacher-in-training in Trinidad at a Hindu private school

MrP - (just back from seeing Other Half off to work) Friday theme is eithee Diwali (Hindu festival of light) or clue day.
hi mr p & dc
something for us to aspire to, ruru
I know it was my suggestion but I was working with a different Hindu calendar -- all very complicated -- google it
I was terrorized
from a grid of i's
i did, jilli, and i understand confusion on the matter. :)
jilli - my 'Hindu lot' do Diwali now.
which memorial is that, jac?
But they are kinda Westernised, apart from their Mum, who's my age, and once was until her brother got killed backin their home village a decade ago.
dcs - It's The Cenotaph in London.
ah, okay. thank you, jacula
hi people can i plz have some help with the letter O
The mum's brother was stabbed by the village nutter back in India.
After that, my friend, their Mum, changed... became much more strict in her religion and veggie etc.
2 build on quaker oa**, in 2 you swear an oa**, and there are sea animals to be found also, matt.
matt -- swearing and playful animals
Sorry to hear of the mum's brother. Interesting that it made them more observant.
thanks but i dont understand the swearingo ne
i got 5 O words but missing one
take an oa** of allegience to the flag
The o words - 2 about porridge, 2 about swearing and 2 about fresh and seawater mammals.
matt - the swearing words - porridge grain + consonant.
the swearing one is like the porridge grani, but with a consonant instead of the vowel.
ok matt, oa5/10 oa + ***mite; wood eating bug, oa6/18 plural of oa5/10, oa4/5, what you swear before giving testimony in court, oa5/12; plural, ot5/10 cute swimming mamal, ot 6/18 plural

357, lets go for a real biggie! 425
jac, I hadn't paid that much attention -- terrible!
What did I guess earlier? 70 or 260, I think. Can't remember.
it flickers here: http://tinyurl.com/3a95ff
morning all, just arrived, waiting for the flip
a nice manageable 180 would suit me today!!!
jilli - If you look for long enough there'a a tarmac drive in there, too.
jack, go for 330!
hi ishult
hi ishult and all who are waiting with baited breath *fanning away the halitosis*

not an all to pleasing image there jillibeans
and a favorite restaurant out here
Hi, Is. I like a 200+ grid myself.
Do you think they planned to name it that dc?
Jacula, I'm guessing the conseritors of the historical sites wouldent let them rip out the rads and tear up the tarmack for thier tv show
I'd like a nasty little 40 word board
jilli - posting you some of that horrible mouthwah stuff right now.
imagine a 5 word board :O
I'd like something fun and easy no matter the size
LOL jac!
no way mool, what would we do all day? WORK!!!
all 40 fishy words
fun and easy 425 grid, coming up
moo - no nasty 40 for you! That would never do!
im partial to 180 words
sounds fun fran
425 would be my nightmare, don't have enough time!!
fran -- lovely placeholder
I know...I had one board over the past week that took me something like 21 minutes...I was lost for things to do after that
lets set a record 750+
jilli - can I quote you on that in the myspace page I'm just settingg up for you? * grins*
I NEVER can do a board that fast!
I remember that 580+ board a few weeks ago...it was like a marathon
yes
I don't think so, jac!
thanks jilli!
good evening, all :)
Well jilli, chalk it up to too much time spent online playing word games...I really should do something more with my life
