A tip for safely thawing your turkey - instead of taking it into a warm room, immerse it in cold water (this defrosts it quicker) and pull out the giblets as soon as you can get them free.

i just pour a whole bottle of wine over it....then cook in the wine...the alcohol will kill most of the bacteria... and yes pull giblets free...( and simmer in more white wine....drippings make EXCELLENT gravy

CRANBERRY PIE: cook cranberries with juice of 1 orange, 1 cup brown sugar, and about 2/3 cup water. Then add 1/4 tsp all spice, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and boil till berries pop. Remove from heat. Add 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 small apple chunked.... put into pie crust and bake at 325 for 50 minutes or until done.

Yes Anniebrook, looks like it. The snow plow has been down the road 8 times. We donated some land across the street for a fire station and I think that has a lot to do with clean roads.

Well, we are 20 miles from town and the nearest fire station was about 7 miles away, so we fixed it.
The nice thing is that it is manned 24-7 and there is a paramedic w/rescue truck. I worry about my husband out in the field putting up hay in the summer and it is handy to have there.

ice, the tile stats below the grid tell you how many words begin with the letters in that column. Each time you find one the number will change... this list disappears in a couple of weeks until you pay a small fee
the boxes below the grid (in case you haven't figured this out already) are the word count...it indicates how many words start with ea...and weegee beats me to it

I was just passing through -- not staying to clue this time. Judi -- I have multiple allergies, and we have two dogs in addition to the children. Our floors are laminate or vinyl for ease of cleaning and allergen-reduction. BUT because our climate is damp and chill much of the year, we have area rugs and throw rugs in many rooms. These are easier to clean, and less expensive to replace if they get stained or damaged. Just a thought.
I just have the thing meoried, lol. Maybe Dr G should make it appear with the trial stats for first two weeks?

If you click the little question mark next to the word (in the list right next to the grid) it will give you a definition usually. Babble uses enable dictionary...it's nutty

Lucky me, son David does the cooking Christmas day -- turkey and all for him, his son, and me -- Tofurkey for his veggie wife and daughter -- all the trimmings -- I supply a bought C&B plum pudding and homemade hard sauce (very brandied)

jilli - I spent nearly 20 years doing all the cooking and washing up myself at Christmas. That was during my marriage. Since I've been with Paul, he helps out 50/50 with all of that and we entertain more people, I get to see them (rather than being stuck in the kitchen) and it's so much easier. He has been helping me with the cleaning today, also.
