And... we managed to make a deal with our longstanding car supplier. We have a car now and we can pay it off with 100 euro a month. He is a sweetheart.

so I have been fighting them and the police (for not protecting us). My therapist just made me realise I have been letting the fear win. I am all fight and feeling powerless. While I should approach the whole situation from "How can I make myself feel more safe." She is totally right.
I even know where they live, Marmar. But the police does nothing. Unless I get seriously hurt, of course. But I don't want to wait for that to happen.

There must fallen trees +/or electric lines. My detour took me past already chopped and moved fallen trees. Some homes in one area were still lacking power last night.

Its' going to be a hard decision when Merp leaves us (which will never happen of course because he's going to be the first immortal cat), because on the one hand I can't imagine living without a cat in the house and on the other we have wanted to travel for some time and it is so hard to do that with a cat. Some are easier than others. Merp has had several life threatening attacks with urinary stones (none for 3 years now) , and they tend to happen when he is stressed...which he gets when we leave him, and I can't count on a casual cat sitter to recognize the signs.

I don't think you'd need to drug her. I'd keep her contained in a quiet room in the old house, and move her last...to a quiet room in the new house for a few hours.
There are several great patterns in the grid, Nonnie.
It really depends on the cat mrp....some most need calm and quiet and some need your presence. Also, the MOST important thing is that cats shouldn't be allowed out (if you live someplace where cats go out) for at least 2 weeks after a move. And then only briefly with your guidance, until you are sure they now how to get back to the house. A lot of cats are permanently lost during moves. So if there's going to be a lot of chaos with doors being left open then it might be better to leave her somewhere safe until things calm down.
Just do what our neighbors do, scrabbler...leave it on the curb all week long <rolling eyes>

MrP.....when we moved we kept the cats in their carriers for a bit and put them in the back room until things calmed down a bit. They hid out for a few days until they became more comfortable then started exploring and picking out their favorite spots.
it'd probably be best not to allow them to roam outside for at least a couple of weeks if possible
OK, thank you...I stooopidly flung hot butter and oil on my hand. Some of the area blistered right away while most I guess are first/second degree. Anyway, my question is the blisters that are popping and draining is it best to just leave them or should I try and get the dead skin off?

If there is loose skin it is best to peel it away (debridement) in a clean manner as the dead tissue is a breeding ground for bacteria. and OUCH!!!
But do not pop intact blisters--let them shrink and dry up. And, did I say OUCH!!!!!!!

If the blister has collapsed or drained, you can leave it. Apply an antibacterial ointment or cream, e.g. Polysporin. We usually prescribe Silvadene cream.

I figured it would, scrabbler. I used the water right away and that was the only way I could get any relief from the pain for most of the day. The silvadene cream was gotten from the pharmacy in the evening and it was painful to apply but after about 30 minutes (and lots of pray) the pain finally eased up. I was amazed.

First time parents are always keen to see their children up and about. You learn not to encourage movement quite so early with the second!
heh, and the second got up + about faster than the first! but at least when theres only 2, you can strap one down while you chase the other...not sure how the grandparents are going to fare handling 3 kids!
The grandparents will have to work as a tag team.
personally, i think it might be a good time to put the older one in daycare -- hes almost 3, so preschool is coming soon, and he really doesnt have much interaction with anyone other than immediate family and close friends -- much less other children! daycare could help him get used to other kids before he starts school, as well as take a little work off of grandparents hands!

I bought a new microwave yesterday and had to take it back to the shop to get them to show me how to work it.
I felt such a fool. In my defence, husband had tried as well, he had even read instructions and everything.
LOL Haz! I couldn't work out my sister's microwave the other day. Pressed every button on the thing, still wouldn't cook anything!
The young man in the shop just hit a few buttons and away it went. The shame of it.
That's what ovens, pots and pans are for. I don't even have a microwave as ours broke and I didn't want another one.

We always shop locally to support the independent store owners... there are too many "big box" stores in the region, and we are locked in to buy from the independents.
I asked the difference between several washing maxhines and the assistant atarted to read the labels on them - which I had already done myself

This particular shop is very good - and the town generally has a good reputation as a shopping town. Bargaining is quite acceptable.
The good thing is that daughter has many friends who are computer savvy, and can usually fix just about anything... I know, Becca...the Walmarts of the world are eating the mom and pop stores by the acre...

How about potato balls, deb? Peel and cook potatoes... mash with a hand masher, and then beat the heck out of them in the mixer. Add a packet of Good Season's Ranch dressing and some pepper... a little butter and about a tablespoon of flour... or two... it will be stiff. Refrigerate. Wait until the next day: Shape about two tablespoons of cold potato into a football shape and put chopped ham, veggies, cheeses, pepperonies, green peppers... and mixtures...in the little pocket. Seal all fillings inside. Roll in beaten egg, seasoned breadcrumbs, and deep fry or saute in butter until dark brown... serve with pizza sauce or whatever you want.

yeah, thats what we all kept trying to argue! ive been so busy with moving that i havent had time to argue with the insurance about it...but the truth is that the BF *didnt* slam on his brakes. and the other driver was found guilty, in court, of speeding + wreckless driving. my BFs court date isnt until the end of the month, and im pretty sure hes gonna be found innocent, so im gonna see if theres a chance the insurances will reconsider
My ex hit a porsch once at 5 k an hour his breaks failed. He taped he rear end and cracked her licence plate. Total damage cost maybe $20 to get a new plate cover and plate. She tried to hit him for $1500 as she said her car was damaged. We think she did the damage herself in her carpark as we were not going fast enough to damage the chasis
