intense growing up. I'm divorced, dad lives about a mile away & we have shared custody. well, the kid figured out that his dd is not always the best role model, to put it charitably. He loves his dad, but is mad as hell right now.He said to me, "mom, when I was little I wanted to be just like daddy, but not anymore." Tha's a sad realization, but at the same time, it's a relief to not have to pretend things are all right. I'm way careful not to run down his dad - so he figured this out on his own. Anyway, he's with me full time for a while.

It is. Kid went through a depressive episode over it, is getting good therapy. He has amazing integrity, and is very sensitive. We had to pay a shiva (condolence) call today to a young woman he knows whose mom just passed away. A lot of her teen friend were there, and they were pretty much chatting like teens. Afterward, Fred (my boy0 said, "poor M____; she looked allright but I saw her twisting (i.e.wringing) her hands. Amazing for a 16 year old BOY to be so attuned. He is a treasure.

My biggest problem on the treadmill is that it creates such a uniform speed.
In reality people tend not to run at exactly the same pace for hours. I ran for 50 minutes to day at about exactly the same pace, and up hill, which also wouldn't happen outside...normally.

The mill is a good place to work on form however....
and the even speed is an excellent point, no sprinting nor slowing up, which is natural

I'm an animal nut, always have been. My mother didn't like dogs, so I had a zillion cats as a kid. As an adult, I've had far more dogs, and was a Great Dane breeder for 20 years (brindles, of course) :D

I think that pets help to humanize US (so long as the owner understands the responsibilities)
