hi mari! He went to the hospital again yesterday, blood tests and Xrays have confirmed there is no sign of rheumatism. And the gout seems to react well to the combined new meds. So yes, he is up and about, still very tired, but much more back to his usual self. Thanks for asking :D

Babblet is a loose term. It generally just means funny little words that come up with surprising frequency in the grid but very low frequency in actual life.

oh, I see nance. for me, big usually means "unfinished" LOL I am a short and simple mind, and my projects must be likewise.
I do some big and some small, but I do find that projects that seem as if they never will be finished start to loom rather depressingly.
i'm proud of myself - i have finished a quilt top, & am long-basting the back to i can using the sewing machine to complete the edge & i'll be ready for hand-quilting - it means so much to me to have made it this far

i did some a few years ago that went over well; I bought hollow glass ornaments and filled them with flat back sequins and beads... super easy and everyone loved them!

i haven't tried that exactly jbp, but did have fun making some large beads once.
if you string the beads ahead of time, I find that hairspray can make them adhere while you're stringing. also there are little upside down V things you can stick into the styrofoam
there are a LOVELY poly clay beads all over flickr if you look for them.

i've used onion skins - a german custome - lovely monochromatic look. You can hold leaves and such in place with nylon stockings and make lovely patterns

Thanks to ht elocal grocery store (!) we didn't lose a lot of books. About 400 were soaked and stored in their freezer, which apparently dries them out. Then 400 boxes were filled with dry books, tapes and such while the library was dried out, and we had to wait for three days without rain until the roof could be repaired. That took a while -- rainy season on the Wet Coast. But now it's done, thank goodness, and all those boxes unpacked and back in place.
