hi mg
hi monkeyG
hi monkey are you and walter better today?
I'm fine. Walter is still asleep. By his bedtime he was much better but still pale and worn out, and in the night he had a fever, so I'm keeping him home again today but I expect him to be up to going to do something fun for a bit, lik ethe playground at the end of the road.
so happy to hear that
does he always have this much trouble with his shots?
Thank you. It's a big weight off my mind!
THis is the most trouble he has ever had. He had a slight fever from one of the earlier ones and I could tell he felt off, but for the rest he's had no reaction at all. He did already have quite a bad cold when she ghave him this one, but she said that didn't matter.... but I think I disagree.
oh I do too
so far have monkeyed a lot of non words
and they're accepted
good for you flosey
lol
i am out of here only found 50 words good night...POOF
my nons hardly ever work
ugh, flosey!
The protocols all say it's OK if the kid is ill if there's no fever, which there wasn't. But I wish I had just skipped the appointment because of his cold. I didn't realize he'd get this shot now or I might have. I though he was due for it in a couple of months. If I had cancelled they'd have goiven me another appointment in a month or so. But I had already done that once, because I had a cold.
night mlf
nn mlf
a friend of mine used to ask for 1/2 doses for her children because they always had bad reactions
that meant going again but she said it was worth it
I really want lanai and I want to be sitting on one
I can see how that could work, but my insurance would have made me pay.... Not that that is the issue when our children's health is on deck. But I had no idea I could expect this. Anyway, he's seriously on the mend and his next and last booster is in five years.
Phantoms: violets, violist
the US health care farce makes me fume
well that's good at least you can breathe easily until then but he'll be a tough scrappy kid by then and it won't bother him one bit
I'm in the Netherlands, jilli. Could not agree with you more.
I hope something can be done about it jilli
There was an excellent tv
My work (a volunteer social work place where I'm doing residency) sent me to a private screen ing of sicko. We (people from similar org's, etc.) watched it and then debated with reps from our insurance comp's about whether things could ever get that bad here.
it's all about profit now
my dad's a doc and his salary has fallen over the years because of the HMOs and the malpractice insurance costs
I can remember when doctor's made house calls lol
There was an excellent TV programme about world wide health care yesterday -- I hope people in the US were paying attention
I hear you orn HMO's and malpractice ins are the main culprits
wa6... my first word of any consequence so far
yeah, I remember those house call days too, sigh!
we seem to be in Hawaii tonight!
I worked with a woman whose son and daughter in law were both doctors. She was an ob-gyn and her mal ins was over 100K a year and that was 20 years ago
west, maybe the ins cos and pharm cos too?
true jilli
a lot of us are coming your way to get meds
HMOs = insurance jilli. But yeah, pharma is a beast too
they keep pulling crap like demanding I get a 60mg + 30mg so they get two copays instead of 3x30mg of a med
not to mention greedy lawyers re malpractice
well, that's the insurance, but they do it to save money from the crazy pharma costs
hi all!
hi mva
hi MVA
hi MVA :)
About 17 years ago we were visiting my husband's cousin in Buffalo. She drove us to Canada and then said there were some OTC drugsthat are the only thing that can help her migraines. She bought some, then made us all change clothes and we used a diferent border crossing because she was afraid the drug store would have called ahead and said some US people had bought these. When we were back at her place, I looked at the pills. Acetameniphen... tylenol! I did not tell her. If she can get placebo relief who am I to spoil it?
Hi MVA!
uneducated consumers don't help either, no. the amount of people who demand antibiotics for every cold... grah.
wow what a story people should be able to get meds wherever they want
west, tylenol you can lol
or using the ER for non emergencies
Yes, that's the #1 complaint among recently-arrived US folks here. Drives me nuts. "Stupid doctor wouldn't even give me an antibiotic but I've had this flu for a week".
often people use the ER cause they have no actual doctor or the doctor needs days to see them
maybe it had a little something extra they just gave my husband tylenol 3
the U words are all weird -- I looked them up, so ya wanna make sump'n uvvit?
Here, we have the general practitioner, the specialists, the 1st aid department, and teh emergency room.
is that a clue jilli?
This woman's tylenol did not have anything extra.
lol jilli - those are two of what I call non words that I monkeyed
are you sure there wasn't something else in it Monkey? I was amazed to find that I couldn't get acetezone forte over the counter in the US, but that I could get Aleve!
and the insurance companies are part of that too - huge prices, and they do things like making it so you HAVE to have multiple appointments - I can't get a normal checkup + GYN checkup the same day because of the HMO
mg, here 1st aid = ER...
also helps to know french tonight
it's all so messed up
These really just were acetameniphen.
but you have to jump through hoops to get an appointment sooner than two weeks out at my doctor, as I just discovered when I realized I had a sinus infection two weeks back
thank God I DON'T try that every time I have a cold
well as you said if it helped her all the better
My doctor has a two-hour period every morning when you can just go in for small stuff.
that'd be nice mg!
that's great monkey wish they all did
He has a daily half-hour when he answers the pjone himself. If he's full on a given day and it's something that hurts or something, you get referred to another doctor. In a pinch you can call teh first aid wing at the hospital.
Usually I can just get a same-day appointment, though.
it doesn;t help that a lot of businesses want a doctor's note - like you're in kindergarten! - and so you have to do a whole long thing just for that
sounds so sensible
Hi everyone!
A specialist appontment can take longer. I had to wait three weeks for my non-emergency MRI.
hi hugs!
hi hugs
hi hugs
Here we have doctors who work for companies, Ornith. You can see your company's doctor and get cleared as sick. Separate appointment system and no further notes needed unless you're sick a while.
some of the biggest have a nurse for that here too, mg. but I work for a tiny little business
Are there things that end in ist or should I stop looking at it?
don't know yet, monkeyg

I think we're having another grid like that, heh
I had 17 to go when I went to bed yesterday. So it goes!
this one is making me laugh though
jilli, aeo**** winds
drop the leading a
I loved yesterday's, for some reason. Didn't have much time and finished fast. But I might run into a big brick wall with this one, who knows :)
la 5/12......is an anagram of the word for yearly occurance....minus a consonant
also he4/5, sprite, sorta
hehehe, that one suits my icon, jilli
I liked the Wednesday grid
the gerundish one?
no, different he4/5, sprite
awwwww that is sweet, jilli :)
yeas, the greunish one -- fun
I liked that one too
gerundish (see, I'm pooping out)
then again, I love most grids, or I wouldn't play

Does anything use the x or should I stop looking at it?
ahah, morewords says i was adding a cons next-to-last, which i don;t think is what you told me :P
add another vowel in the 3rd spot of the la 5 piercing tool word
11 left and no x yet mg
li5/12?
no x
Thanks!
darn, the dutch word for paragraph is in the grid and it is not valid.
oh, yeah, my "clue" didnt work lol
li 5/12......like a purple flowering bush with a diff cons. in the third spot
the maldive islands are in there :-)

nite mva
ro7?
nn mva
bye MVA, have a great day! *hug*
Hey Sprite, I just e-mailed my boss to say I'm keeping Walter home today. My spellchecker doesn't complain about vaandag OR vandaag; are they interchangeable or have I maybe been saying something odd for years?
No what don't you like sprite?
you mean the things under the bridge, sprite?
they are both words, but don't mean the same thing, MonkeyG. Vandaag = today. Vaan-dag is a day with vaantjes, vaan being flags.
ahhh I have that one already :-)
tr5/10 is the thing I don't like
think the ro 7...is french word for rust
I bet we get one today so I end up in the PB!!!!
that's what I thought
I'd better get ready for work. See you all later
that ending is common to about 3 or 4 other words too
my French ends at "fromage"
nn katie
have a good day, Katie
bye katie -- hapy day
Thanks!
I can say wine names in French
ah, got it
ends in the last 4 letters of what helen keller uses to read
I mean happy day
un deux trois camembert, deux biere s'il vous plait... I know a lot of french
ta6/18#2 - the one that doesn't end that way
ta 6 #2 someone who makes you a suit( not a card dealer)
that is the one I have, lol
oh Jesus, I AM one
you want 3 cheeses and 2 somethings?
what happened when the Frenchman threw the kittens in the pond? Un, deux, trois cats sank.
i kept looking the wrong way for that word and thinking it wasn't there
lololol jilli!
good one jilli
1 2 3 cheeses and 2 beers please?
very good Ornith, though they were just random words, but you combined them to something with sense. Well done!
to6/21 and 6/24?
i'm havng T issues today :P
do you need to blow your nose?

Think double tins
Ornith, I have not seen Froot Loops over here. Sprite, black bird with enormous striped beak.

slang way of saying it i should say
awwww that one! Thanks MonkeyG, those cerials are not known here indeed.
west, margarine?
you can do it sprite you can...
and thanks to the rest for trying :)
ty dart!!
double tin didn't work?
tu6?
Phantom: canula
tyvm ruru and orn
and I learned something new... I thought that bird's name didn't have an O.
what's a canula?
same ending as those other weird french? ones
But yesterday was my favorite phantom day. My winners were polemic, lepton, and helminth.
tu 6 that is
A canula is some sort of medical thing, a large needle I think. I'll look it up.
I think it's cannula
ah ty
yes dart
what';s a helminth? :P
Oh! Sorry.
ok, just the un's and the second va8!!
think canula is something with oxygen..the tube that goes under your nose or something like that
helminth + a worm I think
there is a ca8 with that ending that is not a friendly word, lol
Online dictionary says canula and cannula both ok. Flexible tube for draining fluids from body cavities.
can(n)ula is apparently a drainage tube
helmith is a worm with a hard hat...
lol
2nd va8...someone who estimates a worth of something
lolol ruru
and yes, a helminth is just a worm
I also thought it was funny that bothquantum and lepton were phantoms yesterday.
nice one, dart, thanks
ty dart
well, you have to admit, MonkeyG, they aren't easily visible anyway
Hee hee!
un's....one is un+ symbol for gold
Walter sure is sleeping in. Well, he needs it.
I'm still stumped on va8#2
ty on un
yay NBT
I'm stumped on both va8's.
and other un now too
I think I miss the first, lol... the 2nd dart just clued, right?
mg, the other one is like the comic character Prince Va****t except with another ending
the other va8 is sort of like bravery
i have un 4 is the oer a four too?
va 8 -- price = worth: va**e and not a croc but a g****
anyone have the AA words?
thanks again, Ornith
GOT IT! ty babblerabble!!!
other un is a babblet..found it easy..but hard to clue without giving it......un+ two vowels in alphabetical order...but not necessarily in consecutive order
same babblet as recently, jilli. With all those double vowels.
i have that what is the other un..
aa words were in a puzzle a few days ago.....hawaiian shrub or bush
hi BabbleRabble, good to see you
aa + stick + double vowel (+ pl)
va 8 -- during ww II the allies and axis were va*l*****s

Still having trouble with the prince's new last half. Will work on it.

mostly thanks to you dart!!
YAY ornith!!! tsk tsk babrab -- there must be something attractive in the PB
that was one of my two favorite tangleword words..that and teiid
love the profile text, BabbleRabble.
teiid can be clued very cryptically -- "Little Edward has two eyes"

Darn it, the butcher downstairs is filling the house with the smell of roasting bacon again. Now I'm starving.

I love bacon but in first trimester the smell made me want to upchuck
yummy MonkeyG...
Thing is, I'm on a diet, Sigh.
wouldn't that be uppork?
lol
nope...have to hit the hay...got to get up for work in 5 hrs.....that is the reason at tangleword i MOUSE and dont type...lol
sit on flat ass, hold up one hand and look like a spaniel, MonkeyG. Where he can see you, of course.

and ne'er the tw*** shall meet
Oh, duh! Thanks.
*giggles*
lol spritey thought you thought it was a phantom
A duck just nearly hit the window. Sheesh.
lol 1Mar, no, I meant it was really there!
I must be backwards today heh
A duck falls out of the window. Quack.
Hey, found that other un. Was bugging me.
both are babblets, I think, MonkeyG
mg, it should have ducked!
Yeah, but I wasn't on here forever and forgot all that I once knew...
I was checking my email but saw the conversation when I got back the answer is yes and no
very ambiguous, west ;)
Hyuk, hyuk! Seriously, though, I thought that swan the other week was going to crash on the deck. They're pretty big at high speeds.
I love this game too but will also play tangle
phantom: plagosity
ditto westie but I'll never play as much tangle as I used to
I'm trying to decide if I should go check on Walter or keep letting him sleep. This is getting pretty darned late for him.
had a seagull break my car window once... they can be big and heavy and er.... very flat
but it's all moot cause it's not a sure thing
I really miss chatting with jemima so when she's on I'll play
if he sleeps in while not feeling good, I would let him, MonkeyG
West: that is the best solution!
Yeah, I lean that way too. BUt I'm sometimes one of these nervous-nellie moms.
the nicest part of this game is it lasts 24 hours..tangleword games are over in 2 minutes
Clue for the ul?
still don't understand why she won't come here...it can be for the same amount of time as at TW..and she can come back several times thruout the day
mg, ul** bator
I know she'd love it
or not as she wishes...
maybe she likes the speed ?
I couldn't play with time pressure, would take out all the fun for me
Thanks, thought I'd tried that!
maybe but she seemed to really enjoy that chat more (so it seemed to me)
sprite I meant to ask is a day of flags a holiday?
that was the only time we had
nn all
that's why I'm so surprised she doesn't come here..
our emails have been less frequent since she got the dog
gn orn tc
it's a shame......owlie too..
it's a bit intimidating at first
absolutely
ossie is here once in awhile but she likes the speed
not if you have a friend here to "walk" you through it
South Dakota drug store...
the people certainly aren't
the people certainly aren't
that's true
MonkeyG: vaan usually refers to something military, like the flag in battle. But vaandag can also refer to vlaggetjesdag, the day the Dutch herring vleet puts out to sea, when all vessels are decked with flags.
Morning all...(((Sprite))))
There's Walter! Bye all, back sporadically.
Aha, thanks Sprite. Really off now.
and bye to the leavers
Liz! *hug*
how are you Sprite - havent seen you in ages

slowly but steadily working towards feeling better and having some living instead of surviving, Liz! Today not so good, because of an infuriating thing happening yesterday, but on the whole I think it is going well. How about you?
hi liz!
Glad to hear it :) Are you still writing? I'm good at the moment ty :)
Hi Jilli :)
the state of RI hit us with a double whammy on the 15th State Income Tax and Property
what happened yesterday, sprite? Go ahead, blow off steam!
not writing, but translating :) And yes, I try to do it regularly, still not totally successful in that, but at least I do it :D
good for you :)
Jilli - love the 70s icon!
I want a tailless manx cat to be in the grid...
jilli, it is quite a story... will keep it as short as I can then. A young (17 yo) friend of the family, who was going to have to leave his home when he would be 18, lots of troubles, stayed over one night at our place.
Douglas - my other half is in the Isle of Man right now!
teen trouble?
Kids played with him, we watched some dvds (hubby, me and him) and went to bed, he in his own room. Next morning I dropped him off at the train station. He said his parents knew.
uh oh!
oh no Sprite :(
yesterday, his mum called me. What on earth I thought I was doing, sleeping with a 17yo. Kid claimed we had a relationship and had sex. Had a very long talk with the mum. Found out the kid has been lying about EVERYTHING.
OMG!!!
oh, nasty!
And I mean everything. No way he has to leave his parent's home at 18. No way he is an only kid (he has a younger bro who is physically handicapped). No way he told his parents he came over. And NO WAY we had sex... I viewed that kid as another son. Haven't been alone with him except that very morning.
Yikes, Sprite!
God Sprite what an awful situation he put you in :(
sick kid
OK, have to go away again but wanted to report Walter is feeling MUCH better. And woke up dry again.
his mum now told me the kid has a personality disorder and lies constantly. Yeah, thanks, I know now. End of the conversation was her apologising to me for the trouble her son caused us.
Good news monkey
glad about Walter, monkeyG
but I am really worried. Such accusations are hard to proof wrong.
congrats, MonkeyG, for Walter and for you.
sounds like his Mum knows what he's really like deep down
oh sprite that really is too bad
well, his mother believes you and that's what counts
yes, she was very much relieved, she said, after talking to me. She now knew it had not happened, she told me. But still.
the boy needs help
yes horrible for you Sprite. You know we're always here to talk to dont you :)
my husband came home when I was on the phone with her. I said in short to him what I was on the phone about. And he yelled: WHAT!!@! GIve me the address and I beat him senseless!
somehow, that convinced the mum even more, I think. It was very uncensored anyway, he was SO angry. And rightly so. But can you believe I am still worried?
What an ugly experience, sprite, but try to put it out of your mind. Stupid thing for me to say -- the more you try the more you can't -- so just babble yourself batty :)
oh yes, he needs help. His mum told me he has been getting help for a long time now. And then they declare he is doing fine now. It goes well for a couple of months. And then it starts all over again.
oh dear :(
lol jilli, yes. I put myself to sleep yesterday with a good dose of meds... and when I woke at 5 am I started worrying right away again. But as my wise son said today: mum, it is over now. We don't want anything to do with him anymore.
ounce
How horribly frustrating that must be for his parents!
arrrgh sorry everyone
that's okay liz had it already lol
*blushing furiously*
4 or 5 am is a dreadful time -- I wake up often then with a head full of thoughts
next time one I don't have please
lol
goodies in the PB, liz :)
you know what worries me too... I have always been... well, how can I put it... If people have troubles, I am open to them. They talk to me, I listen, I try and let them feel they are good persons and things will work out. And now I feel like... that is dangerous.
TY Jilli *rushes off to the PB*
yes, I wouldn't want to be in his parents' shoes for all the gold in the world, jilli.
don't change the way you are sprite because of one bad apple
Well said West
What you do at this point, Liz, is to trudge off to the Penalty Box, and enjoy some of the tasty snacks inside...although that seems to defeat the purpose of calling it the Penalty Box...hmm...
yes, west
I even tend to hug people. Haven't hugged this kid except when he left, but still.
doug, it just keeps them away from the keyboard for a bit, lol
Been there sooo mnay times in the past Douglas its probably all my food thats stocking it!
doug you'd have to be a woman to understand why goodies are a penalty
What they said, sprite...
hey, Doug, spoken as a real man, huh
I mean about the penalty box, lol
hugging can't hurt, sprite
I have to go. Lovely to see you Jilli and Sprite , everyone. Sprite email me through facebook anytime you wanna chat x
that is what I would have said before yesterday, jilli... now I wonder.
*hugs Liz* Thanks hun!
((hugz)) *poof*
bye liz -- have a good day
well, you don't ever have to hug HIM ever again!
I'm no good at using facebook except for scrabulous
lol, no jilli, never. Or even speak to him. Nobody tells such a vicious lie about me and is allowed access to me or my family, it is as simple as that.
I am no good at facebook at all, can´t seem to find the time for it.
No man is a hero to his va5
I wouldn't know how to email someone via it
just send a private message, jilli
NBT and halfway now, so I can go to bed.
and will you, jilli=
Bye Jilli, hello everyone else
Handing out monkeys to bananas for finding a second va6...
hey lyn :)
yes, sprite, I've been pretty good lately! I have jobs to do tomorrow so won't hang around here now
Oops, I mean, handing out bananas to monkeys
hi and bye lynxxx
in that case, sleep well and pretty dreams, lovely lady
Jilli, you make going to bed seem like going to the penalty box
have a happy day, sprite xoxoxo
good night jilli take care
hi lyn
right, babrab, but there are no goodies in bed :(
*poof* all!
awwww jilli... wish you have a handsome, gentle, funny, witty goodie in your bed!
restful sleep is about as good as it gets
Has ARB been around lately?
an5 is a river in Egypt...
I haven't seen her for a while Doug but she is still playing
The reason I ask is because I've recently heard a story about a bombing in Ariel, near Tel Aviv
It was a package, wrapped up to look like a Purim gift basket, and set at the door of the Ortiz family
fireworks for me. And must be off, alas. Have a great day and/or night all of you!
ugh - I pray that one day soon all those troubles can be reasoned out and peace can reign, I don't know how anyone can live there
Congrats Sprite, have a happy day
Yay sprite...this will be a better day/night for you...
big hug sprite
hi everyone
hello andree
Hi Andree - happy end of the week (or do you work Saturdays?)
Hello Andree
no have the weekend off
I would like there to be more than one word containing oun
are the ao words related? I have the first but the second is giving me trouble
I would also like lanile and taline to be words...
just got it
they are related add a consenant
I'm so used to the Latin ending that it threw me
doug they can be words but first you have to make up definitions
eloi is so a word! Hasn't Enable read the Bible, where Jesus is on the cross?
eo6 please
Hasn't Enable read The Time Machine?!?
Oh, yes, west, quite...
why is halal not accepted
add another song note andree
Because it's not an English word...
eo plus anagram of something you hammer
thats silly, we have halal butchers etc, commonly used
But you're expecting Enable to make sense...
guess they only take kosher...
phantom halva :D
ty just I should know that word love Davy Spillane
takes lots of french and spanish words
thx just
sure does
yw :)
like ol4, f'rinstance
takes a bunch of Mongolian phonemes too
There's some vodka in the grid...
I saw that
tried it too just in case
prob not a brand available here cause i don't see it
I understand your supposed to knock it back, not really sip it...
it's a nick name just
but then gin is more my style
I put it in tonic
Short for Stolichnaya, which has probably never been in a grid, but one never knows...
watch it will be in tomorrow
sounds Polish to me
if one of you nice people will give me a clue to the last ha 6/21 I can go to bed
Might I trouble you for one of the i words, please?
happy to doug if I have it
ha rhymes with little onion like veggie
Russian and Polish sound very similar
have that one must be the one before it
There's more than one? The one I have sounds like singing...
take the vowel of the one befor and add a consenant
in + a great Pink Floyd song
or the other way around if you have that one
the other is ha plus sounds like hawaiian greeting
All in all, that's just a... rather infrequent word...
I'm never going to get to bed
Thanks, Just
are the first four letter the host of Let's Make A Deal?
yes westie
yw doug
got it!!
thank you and good night all
night west
bye west
Pleasant dreams, west
I have three words left to get to halfway, and one tile left to get to NBT, the upper u
the upper u's (2) are 4 letter babblets doug bot end in vowels
I don't think there are 300 Spartans in the grid, but there are some Greek soldiers...
1 letter left x 2 tiles...the dreaded T
Thanks, Just...one of the t's is also a famous American writer...that doesn't help, does it?
not sure Doug..too tired to contemplate. Ten left for tomorrow, night all, be well
bye just
Pleasant dreams, Just
thx you too
Sitting on the park bench...
I need two more words to get to halfway, and I'm thinking that if I sing a Jethro Tull song, they will just come to me magically

i have a wa 6/7 combo that is what you carry your money in
Oh, DUH! So sorry to bbe a pain! Thank you.
yw
And I'm still having trouble with the va8 that is not assaying related. People have given me clues but I appear to be suffering a sort of brain death.
i have a va 8 that is related to a va 5 which means someone is brave
Hi Monkey (& everyone) - do you have the al8.45 which means to join forces? if so lose an L and use it for your V
hi lynx, much better clue
I have the al and va 8. Only those two.
No wait, I have the ca 8, too.
va8.60 is a person who calculates the worth of a house or property
hi merk
Tuna comes in a *** and then the ending of blind people read br*
hi. do you know the 8 I am missing?
not sure, i don't have it yet either
If it is the va8.60 Merk see my clue just given

ty
Howzabout the first wa5? Can't seem to figger it.
Just add a vowel to the word before Monkey
Thanks. I have the NEXT one; dunno why I didn't think there'd be a middle one. OK, that's all the wa's, anyway. Off to prep my lunch.
bye monkey
bye Monkey, I'm off for the night too - Bye everyone
bye lynxx, tc
Good morning one and all!
how is the grid?
slow, Pink
43 words in 10 mins
slow isnt the word - the left hand t is causing particular consternation today.
Hi again. Back again, again temporarily.
hey MG and chef
Just got a va6 by trying a Dutch word. I need to remind myself a lot that sometimes that works.
hey pinky, and everyone else. This grid is frustrating. Apprpriate phantom: anxious.
evaluate is the phantom, i cant shake off
Can someone clue the va7?
bed linen that forms a curtain under the matress
Thanks!
yw
What about the va6 between the 5 and teh bottm 8? It's my last va.
that is the only one i have
OK, I'll just leave it alone for a while and maybe it'll come out on its own.
MG - is that a euphemism???
Ehhhh, wasn't meant to be.... Just supposed to be kind of funny. Now I'll be spending too much time trying tow ork out what it could be a euphemism FOR...
va5 people who wash your car for a price plural
monkey, add a vowel into the va 5, british spelling
Thanks!
yw
MG - in my mind, almost everything is a euphemism. I am Freud´s worst nightmare.
So while I'm being so dense, can anyone help withthe tu6?
tu 6 i have adds a vowel to tu 5 after it
tu6: tu + unwell + vowel.
Thanks, folks!
ty
good morning
hi carlee
Hi there!

Hi again.
Oh, bye Angelina!
Fish words must be one of those terms I have not yet picked up. Whatcha mean?
ones that was so obvious you cannot see them for the grid...and... then frequent bablets
ho 5,12 ... the last one please.
Aha, thanks!
comes from years ago when we used to say "slap me with a fish for not seing that one". God only knows where it came from.
The only ho512 I have is to lift something, usually with a crane.
merk it's a place you stay at while traveling
Hmmm.... could be from the Monty Python fish-slap dance, I suppose.
G'd morning Babblers. Is this grid a gooder? ***swills coffee, tries to wake up***
ho5: ritz, hilton, etc.
undecided on that one yet lori...morning
and no, Lori, its a stinker. at least for me it is.
This is again a fairly frustrating grid.
oh, duh, hit me
ty
( ho5 was a fish word )
<POMPOM TOSS> for merk
It sure was. I see your point.

Just took me forever to fidn the stupid ac, a definite fish word.

good morning, Babblers...
Really? Big one? Should I turn on CNN?
and illinois is almost in the grid - is Dr God at work again??????
Morning, Angelsong. Or rather, afternoon, here.
G'd mornign Angel. ***still swilling coffee, comments on grid, have me ignoring yellow tiles***
II think one of the worst earthquakes in the US was in New Madrid, MO
Didn't know they had earthquakes in Illinois.
5.4 according to "News you can Trust CNN"
OK, I see a report now. I'm from California. 5.4 is not so bad.
i don't know how big...yes is on cnn
No reports of injuries, but damage reports. I hope all our Illinois friends are all unscathed.
I have a whole bunch of cousins there; out of touch but hope they're OK!
hmm..they felt in toronto...
ok...so what time?
What time was the earthquake?
Reprt I have here says 4:37 a.m.
no carlee, it was noted that the time made that impossible, prob'ally a prank call

no wonder I did not feel it here
I didn't feel a thing!
Sorry Merk, I have zero words.

Good morning, LoriP!
Clue for the tr that doesn't live under a bridge?
ok..this grid is stalling out...
its fast approaching uninteresting
Yup. I've dragged myself through to 88 but I an burning out.
i'm only at 45...and looking for other things to do online....maybe a few rounds of scramble on facebook
I will give up soon and go put up a shelf. Who knows how long I have anyway: instead of napping, Walter is singing an dspeaking in tongues.
i have to work today and chaparone a field trip for my daughter
I'm supposed to be at work but I wanted to keep WAlter home one more day since he had fever in the night again.
tr5: same as the bridge thingy, but diff vowel.
Thanks!
the first thing some people do when they go to a lu4/6 is greet friends by saying al5/12. Most of us just say he5
What about the ru's? Just can't seem to figure those out.
Oh, there's ONE...
MG - ru is road to despondency. The 5 is eluding me.
Thanks. Just saw the 4 myself, will keep working for 5.
*ru4
Hi all. How is Walter today, MG?
***The a's sucked.*** G'd morning Scrabbler!
MUCH better. He still has the cold he had in the first place, and he is still pale and I can tell he's not 100%, but he's very much on the mend. Just put him down for his nap, an dhe is singing lustily.
Great news, MG.
Hi Lori
He's upset we can't go to the playground (I kept him home bacause he had another fever in the night). But I figure in his state right now a trip to a playground in th eshrieking wind and periodic rain is probably not the best of all possible ideas.
phantom: vanilla
Oh, and his arm seems fine now too.
Phantom: violets
It won't make him sicker, but who would want to be out in that weather?
Yes, I see it, Angel.
He would. Won't make him sicker per se, but he would overdo it and knock himself flat, I know him. He needs a chance to just recover. I haven't been stopping him running around, though, and we also loaded him into the cargo trike and took the dog on a long run for some fresh air. But at the playground he'd get drenched.
Yep, so stay at home and play.
Okay. This grid is laden with stoopid non word words. Ack.
He's getting a shred stir crazy, so after nap time we may take the bus down to pick out fabric for his summer blanket. Tomorrow we can go down the road to the nature preserve and see the deer.
Phantom : Jethro Tull
The ro 7 is a dumb word. ***proceeds with DENSA application***
GM all - odd looking grid
Ooh, I saw that too Scrabbler. Love Jethro Tull.
Lori, I am up to 11 words and am struggling already. I don't have much time now either because I hit the snooze alarm 4 times.
G'd morning kje. 'Yer late! :-)
Hi kje
Lori - I agree, and yet that was one of my first words today. After you with the form.
Lori, you are funny---DENSA.
I hit the snooze also....
They weren't kidding me, this is a weirdy. I'm lovin' it! Thank god for Lickety........
ooh, I'm looking forward to finding the dumb word. thanks, Lori. (And good morning all)
OK, 92 words and cannot take it anymore. I will leave you good people for a little while, and go see where I can hang this Egyptian hand-stitched tapestry thing I virtually stole at the second hand place downstairs: they wanted 5 Euros for it! It's probably worth more. See you folks at my next housework break.
G'd morning Inge!
GM inge
still just looking at odd grid....

Don't know when I'll be able to be back, leaving here momentarily.
Another trip Merk?
No, we're safe, kje. The pope is here.
in the grid?
Most of my words end in the double L. I don't see much else.
No, in the US, silly.
Yes, Arizona and beyond this time

Safe travels then, and see ya' soon Merk!

tr 5 -- grid alert
this is just a test. this is a test of the emergency TR5 alert system. had this been an actual emergency, you would have been required to take out your TR5-repellent spray and defend your grid...

all done !!!
congrats, loredana!
hello and congrats lore!!!
like looking for all the ones where I only one left to gray the tile first - makes me feel smarter to see the tile gray out and less regret at "listing" - : )
WTG lore - yahoooo
hi red
howdy, red!
And before I cange my icon, what is the theme today, perhaps i shall follow it. Morning all!
word from the grid red
go for the ro 7 - LOL
oh Duh, it is fridayl
one big red brown square
great video tks to Herin
morning red
does anyone have a clue for the first va8 please?
flosey, is that the assessor?
that would be the second one Une, thanks
no - it is courage - like the prince had...
ok, thanks
Hi Lore, going to change icon, but not really the theme unless I find a word that goes with it...
tx kje!
yw
thanks for the other va 8 clue - didn't have it
Good morning everyone. Haven't been on for quite some time due to my husband's emergency surgery. He had a dissected Aortic aneurism in February and was in surgery for 14 hours with only a less than 2% chance of survival. However, being a tough old Marine, he made it. He is home now, recovering, so maybe I will be able to start babbling occasionally again. Miss you all.
Sucessfully adjusted icon.
thanks, just not getting the clue
rumples, so sorry for what you and your husband have gone through . . .
Oh My Romplestilt. that is ususally a very bad prognosis! I am glad he did well! Welcome back!
So, it appears I have my tax refund, which is nice, but consternating, because now I have to decide what to do with it.
what a dilemma red -
seeing as I paid 1600, I'm not sympathetic to your plight - LOL
however, I am willing to live vicariously through you - how about a trip to Paris?
oh wow kje, that hurts
Sorry, you made more than me though, for sure. and its my first tax year owning a mortgage...
or a meal at the French Laundry...
or a meeting with a personal shopper at Neiman's
Well kje, nice idea, but its between putting more into IRA, or paying off a debt. and I need a new camera...
save it or invest it wisely?
my old one started to make all the photos look likep urple stripes.
dream bigger red!!!
I can dream, but...at least I can finally pad up my savings account some more.
I'm not sure I can live vicariously through you if you're paying debt - but that is likely the smart move : )
un 5 anyone?
Ahhh kje, paying off debt is one of the most wonderful feelings in the world, in addition it means I will have an extra 1-200 dollars a month to do whatever with...sad that I do not know exactly how much my car payment is...its automated.
my only debt is school loans - and I suspect I will pay them until I die someday...and they die with me : )
luckily, the state paid more of my school, but i have a small bit left on car, a small bit of student loans and of course my special mortgage.
yes, haven't bought the house yet....
kje, there's no un5
i was unlucky enough to have to refinance my house 2 years ago to pay off an assessment from my HOA, but i was smart enough to roll my student loans into that refinance, so now im free of student loans!
well - that does make it hard then..
un4/5 and un4/6
:-D
ul5, un4 x 2 kje
OK - will now start looking for the 4/6 - feeling stooooopid
those are the only u words
ah - much easier that way : )
and the ul is ul4 not 5
both 4s are followed by 2 vowels
yes flosey - easier to find when looking for a REAL word - such as real words are in babble
Yuck Eva. I actually have 2 mortgages, a big one and a little one, but, none of them are the kind that seem to be causing the housign market to be wierd
both un4's are babblets
right kje, this grid is full of non words
Hey Babble Family......
OK - should get a move on the day - BBL - happy friday!
Hi Aussie!!!!!!!
aussieeeee - bye
see ya kje... later Hon...

We kids (my Mom and Aunt Judy's) didn't think they looked identical (they really didn't as adults) but their mannerisms were eerily the same - the way they moved their hands or their expressions when they said certain things
they ate the same, their habits are the same, even thought they are both 52 this year...

My mom is a twin. The weirdest thing happened once when I was young. She woke up from a nap suddenly and grabbed her right arm. The first thing she said was that she had to call my aunt (her twin sister). Turns out my aunt had fallen down and broken her right arm. It still creeps me out today.

song by trout fishing in america - can hear on youtube site I just posted
...come sing with meeeee
kje...... here it is in full....
(spoken intro) We've now reached the audience participation portion of our album. This is an old sing-a-long song and what we'd like for you to do is listen to the chorus of this song and then sing along with us. We'll go through it once and then you can sing with us. (sung) A sultan sat on his Oriental mat With his harem in downtown Persia He took a sip of coffee, just a drip Then he said to his servant Ursa: "Ahhh, curse ya, curse ya, curse ya! That's the worst cup of coffee in Persia!" CHORUS 'Caaaaaaaaaaaause A ll I want is a proper cup of coffee Made in a proper copper coffee pot I may be off my dot But I want a proper coffee in a proper copper pot Iron coffee pots and tin coffee pots They are no use to me If I can't have a proper cup of coffee in a proper copper coffee pot I'll have a cup of tea! (spoken) Ya got it? Well, join right in! (sung) In days of old, when knights and men were bold And whiskey was much cheaper Ben Turpin rode to the coffee house and showed His pistols to the keeper He said, "Stand and deliver! Can't you see that I'm all a-quiver!" CHORUS Now, Bonaparte knew that he was in the cart When he lost that Waterloo fight He gave his sword to Wellington, my lord And he said, "Those British can half-fight! Now you had your Waterloo, sir Tell me what *sniff* am I having with you, sir?" CHORUS (in bad French-sounding English) (spoken) Well, we didn't expect you to sing along with that last verse because, well,...it was in French. This is your last chance, though. It's the "People Magazine" version of the song and it goes like this: (sung) Now, King Solomon and his wife would carry on When we heard in the ancient scandals, He bought her lots of silver coffee pots With diamond legs and handles And said the Queen of Sheba, "I'd rather have any old tea-ba!" 'Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaause (EVERYBODY!) (sung three times, each time getting progressively faster) All I want is a proper cup of coffee Made in a proper copper coffee pot I may be off my dot But I want a proper coffee in a proper copper pot Iron coffee pots and tin coffee pots They are no use to me If I can't have a proper cup of coffee in a proper copper coffee pot I'll have a cup of tea

well, i have started posting my last word bc.. i KNOW i finished a grid a while back, but by the time i checked ratings (don't do that very often), mine was at 1026 so i asked dr. God and he told me a date a while back where i had 12 words missing or something... but i'm sure i finished, sigh
i've had a few that showed me finished but the next day said I was missing 1 or 2 words
h'mm, well i figured that if i posted my last word in chat, it would be a way to document when i finished... sometimes i just pop in to finish and leave without chatting

****she said as she prayed for the next 9 days to rush by in a flash***
traditionally apples, nuts and cinnamonn and a little red wine all mushed up.... it symbolizes the mortar used to build the pyramids (???) maybe i'm wrong about this.. and it's delicious. Sephardim make it with dates and bananas and cocoanut and ooooh!
ok, blog updated again, check my profile for the link anyone who is interested. 2 pics of nick, and pics of the finished paint in daniel's "ocean" room
lenska???
hi all! Feels weird to still have almost 3 hours to finish!
lol yeah she was a c class movie actress
i will check these when I'm home feather... have trouble on son's computer and can't do two things at a time
hi everyone. Yes, I agree, the sephardic haroset is wonderful, and it does indeed represent the mortar.

i must not have that ho5, its kind of confusing right in there
brb again
ru + Santa ***
snap is a kids card game just
saute chopped onion, grated carrot, chopped celery and some other stuff... then add egg, matzo meal and spinach... mix and put in muffin tins
yummmmm, dorens!
that's what they all say.
jellen, santa claus?
lol, Lindy
I go to friends for the seder, so don't have to do all the hard work-just dessert. They are vegetarian, so the whole meal is diary. The torte is a traditional passover one. The batter is made with ground hazelnuts, ground chocolate and whipped egg whites. Then the layers are sprinkled with wine (Manischewitz if you're being really traditional), spread with apricot preserves, and then the whole thing is covered with chocolate ganache. Unbelievably gooey and rich.
sorry i just don't get it jellen!!
Just1-near Montpelier. Where are you?
thanks for the ru 5
ru + Santa *** winds
oh that sounds fabulous... i'm up in mass, so you're not that far eva!

finally got that one!
up here there's really no choice but to drive, as there's basically no public transportation.
well you don't really need to living up here, but where I live you're lost without a car
2nd la5 please
good thing I like city living, LOL, as I can't drive...
it's hawaiian cheeky l & 3 vowels and a con
Also, the neighborhood we lived in, while not terrible, was not the safest, so walking from the T at night was always a bit nerve wracking.
very good indeed pam
wa 6/33/
first va 8 please?
I am missing the va8, can someone help?
oh... I need the 2nd va8
a window treatment with an extra vowel in the middle
second v8 is one who rates things
sharon: wa 4 + ** ha (exclamation of discovery)
I suppose if I lived in a rural area, the bad depth perception might not be as bad a handicap, but it isn't a good thing for people who see as I do to drive
I grew up in New York City and there not only does one not need a car, but having one is pretty much insane, as you spend your whole life in parking wars, or paying a ransom for a garage, and having your car savaged.
got the second va 8...
yup, says this Brooklyn gal, eva
oh, thanks, Sharon
and the first! :-D thanks !
thanks stid
thanks for asking for those v's.. and the cluers too
I assume that can't be corrected Pam? I know someone who has vision in only one eye, but is allowed to drive and does so beautifully.
I am really not a city person, though I love museums and such -- they're just too "something" for comfort
wa 4/9?
first one
got it , nm
wa 4/9 #1 is wa + the **na (bone in the arm)
i know someone with one eye, too, eva and he drives well and plays tennis. When I learned, or attempted to learn, tennis, I couldn't tell which side of the net the ball dropped on when I played back court...
in 6 please?

congrats
go sharon go!
la 6 is the same as the first la 5 just add a vowel
go sharon, i'm behind you with 19
2nd la 5 is l & 3 vowels & con
the person I know lost the sight in that eye when he was a child, and we now know that the brain is incredibly flexible and able to rewire itself in extraordinary ways, but the earlier the easier. When I watch him play tennis, etc I could swear he has depth perception-whiuch should be impossible.

kje- just listened to the poems- nice
excuse me while I change back to by regular icon
