Does anyone want to know just how many times I frustratedly entered "monotrain" because I live in Texas and it just isn't an issue here?
lol samantha
how many, sj?
had to look up the definition on the 9; study of the atmosphere
At least four, ardilla, before I started to catch on that that maybe wasn't the answer. And even then I stared and said "choo choo?" many, many more times
lol
lol
Lance, "meteorology" is not a nine letter word.
ae 9/60 ae4/4+opposite of yes+french for sea with different vowel

But I have sent plenty of postcards there through postcrossing.
bfn ardilla
jilli, remember I told something about my parents? Haven't seen my father in 10 years, got a weird Xmas card about 1,5 year ago. And now, out of the blue: a letter and a stack of photographs from my childhood. (not a nice letter, btw).
seems talking about it brings it on, doesn't it ;)
my goodness, sprite! Do you suppose his ears were burning?
firewords.
YAY book!!!
wd
were the photos ones you'd like to have to pass on? if so, forget the words
who knows, lol. It was shocking, though. Still the same, cold, manipulative man he used to be. Telling me he had decided I must be in the possession of these pics, and ordering me to get into contact with him. Not a single question about me, or any mentioning of missing me etc.
wtg bookwomen!
time for bed. enjoy the grid.
That low-left e doesn't reveal it's secrets to me.
nDan: they were very confronting for me. It was so clear to see where the trusting, powerful child turned into a scared and thoroughly unhappy girl. But yes, I am happy to have them. At least I know they will not end up in strange hands now.
His loss, sprite.
when you edit text you a**** it; change first vowel
e + not you + thy *** and thy staff...
he states in his letter that he hopes I agree with him on the fact that the present and the future are more important than the past, and then orders me to contact him.
nDan, that's not from the lower E
orders you? No "please"?
thanks jill... it was eluding me too
showed the letter to my therapist. She said right away: did you count how many *you must*'s are in this letter?
sorry, missed other direction
no please. Not a single nice word.
Hello everyone!
well, you and the therapist have got his number and I hope you can put it aside.
Hello Lyn
hi again lynxxx
hi acoom
Hi all )
so I wrote back to thank him for the pictures. I told him I do agree on the present and future being more important, but that I cannot afford the luxury of pretending the past has not happened. Since we live with the consequences of his abuse and the resulting damage on a daily basis. Also wrote that we have really tr5 to find an indication in his letter that something positive could result from new contact, and that we haven't been able to find any.
'lo
and that I therefore would only write this one letter.
hi acoom!
well, 35 left for tomorrow -- bed now for me.
Good for you, sprite.
goodnite Jilli
very strong of you, be proud & stand tall
nDan said that very well Sprite
checked with my husband and therapist if this was ok, and not too harsh, and they told me it was exactly the right thing to do. Felt that way too. Can't imagine how far I have come, I used to forgive everything and everyone and be open to new abuse right away. Now I am more careful. Still forgiving, but now I take care of me.
thanks nDan! And hi lyn, thanks :)
night jilli
'nite
thanks for listening to me, guys. It is very difficult for me, talking to you helps.
So glad to hear that, sprite -- that you take care of you. Do it well.
whats a babble family for if not a place to air problems ?
Indeed, ice
And good night all -- *poof*
I'm always a little jealous of people who have good relationships w/ parents; but we still learn ... I always say I learned what not to do from my parents & I have amazing children
I really love my babble family :) You have kept me more or less sane on more than one occasion.
my flatmate says that about me and my family ndan, altho not the children part
nDan: that is exactly what I said yesterday :D We really have managed to not repeat the same bad things our parents used to do. Our kids are wonderful. And we are a happy family.
yay icepyro! Well done.
side note: looks like enable doesn't read harry potter. de6/24or is not valid.
enamle came out before harry potter ;)
lol icepyro, yes indeed, and the version we use never updated. It does not even recognise internet!
altho Ive read that word before then too
the term internet was just catching on back then ;P
:D
if I remember correctly this version is the original version of enable and that I think came out like '96 '97ish if you really want to have an idea of its age
sounds about right, yes. And don't get me wrong, I don't want it to change. I would severely object to missing the babblets I have grown fond of!
I think at that time internet would be counted as a proper noun and thus not be in the list
actually it still counts as proper
but it is valid in most wordlists now
good morning sprite
morning flosey!
I'm stuck with i3 words left.
I had gone to bed but couldn't sleep, so maybe I'll pick up my last 13 words
Good morning all "just-comers" and congratulations all fireworkers!
from which i, ajv?
Hi Flosey & ajv
And I miss 13 words...
hello ajv and lynxxx
I have finished i's, though...
just told my babble family I got a letter from my father, out of the blue, flosey. If you want to know, please scroll back a bit.
oh, 13, lol. I read i3.
I did read a bit sprite, how long is it since you've had contact?
I miss one a, two d's, four e's, two l's, two m's, one n and one t. I mistyped first 13 to i3, sprite.
he cut off all contact 12 years ago. Then refused to shake my hand and my husband's on the cremation of his father, 2 years later. That was the last contact.
ajv, yes, I understood after you typed 13. I am a bit slow in the uptake, sorry.
oh sprite, I cannot imagine
it is weird, isn't it... can you believe it took me many years of therapy to finally understand it IS weird? Always thought I was crazy and he was right.
oh dear sprite, how awful
hugs sprite
yes, it is. But it is good to see I have grown a bit, flosey. To know I am raising my inner terrified kid, so to speak, to become less frightened and a lot more secure.
Does the ae9 have anything to do with concordes etc.?
thanks flosey :) Really appreciate the hug, I do need it :)
ae9 is the study of the higher regions of the atmosphere
I monkeyed the ae9!
I have never heard that word before...
The study of the upper atmosphere, especially of regions of ionized gas. - straight from the dictionary
and is the 9 the person doing it?
er yes..
ok, thanks, then I managed to wrap my mind around the concept, lol. It is not in the best state this morning.
*kicks dictionary.com for being lazy with definitions*
the concept, your mind, or your managing? ;)
my mind and my managing both :D
what state would those be best in? Im in California myself, altho I dont recommend it for people who already have problems =D
I must be off. My son is officially done with elementary school today! Will start highschool after the summer holiday, and we want to mark this rite of transition with buying him a new ring.
woohoo sprite! have fun
lol icepyro... how about Ohio? Close enough to a yelling sound.
bfn, all, have a splendid day and/or night and thanks for being here for me. *hugs*
Bye Sprite
thats a pretty stable state =D .. have good day
Hi Sprite. Been watching the chat. Lots of love to you. SEems you are handling everything just right. God Bless you! and have fun with shopping!!!
hi Marmar
Hi lynxxx!
Ha, there is my new icon I tried to change two days ago....talk about time delayed reaction!
Any changes I do seem to take a few days too Marmar
bye sprite, perhaps catch you later
try refreshing the page... most browsers cache the pics so until it expires or refresh it shows old stuff
Jilli had just talked about keeping up with the icon theme and she made such a good argument, I decided to try it. The theme that day was video games...so, I'm a little behind the times, what else is new?
arg flosey your icon is gonna bug me... I know its a clue and its pretty, but Ive never seen anything like that before so not getting it lol
lol marmar its all good :)
you said it!
I tried growing them but was uncessful

gosh, where is everyone?!
Hi Ata - was just thinking the same thing myself!
hi lorrie!
I had a lovely dream that I was in Cape Town last night
They're either all asleep all working verrry hard! :)
Have you been to the Cape?
yeah, a lot of my family live there and thereabouts
When I first came out from the UK I lived in Camps Bay - my sister still does..
oh lovely! my great-aunt and uncle used to live there too. Most of the family live in Durbanville and Stellenbosch now though
and Tokai
Stellenbosch is lovely!
So is the wine! :)
So is the wine! :)
oh it is! I always to live there when I was young
ohhhh yes!
Good morning everyone!
Morning pink! :)
Hello Lorrie!!
or franschhoek - have you been there? that's just gorgeously lovely
hi pink!
hi atalante
feeling better today??!
Franschoek is very pretty, but just too busy in the high season!
Ah, look who turns up when you take a break. Good morning all.
yes, true!
hi haz :)
Hi Haz
Hello Haz
Now I'll have to have a look at the icons....
morning everyone :-)
Good morning Katie, how's you?
Hello pink and Lorrie and Atalante and Katie and I'm going to stop this because I could just keep on typing names.
Hi Katie...
Good thanks pink, how about you and lil pink?
there, i've changed to a new pic
lil pink is fine, im still nursing my hangover, but im happy!
Lol, I have the day off, I'm waiting for a delivery but its lovely to turn the blackberry off!
Another from your stock of sayings, Atalante? I need to find some myself.
what is a blackberry, i've heard soooo many people speak of them
It is a phone and you can pick up your emails on it. I was really pleased when I got one from work, it only took a couple of days to realise it was the modern version of a ball and chain!
blackberries are hell LOL
I now have no peace and train journeys are not the haven they used to be!!
lol, i guess it would feel like that
How many pages are in the instruction booklet?
calvin is right up there w/ Doonesbury; my fav is he & hobbes jazzin to recs played a 78rpm past midnight
about 327
That's about the same as this week's OK. Part 2 of the Rooney wedding. The Reception.
Lol Haz, there is not instruction booklet anymore it comes with a disk for you to download to your computer. Now in meetings when you try and fix the next date there is a mass turning on of gadgets
please tell me you're joking?
I bought OK last week for part 1 :-) I never usually buy it but I'm a softy at heart
I am not joking. Part 2 features the reception. Pictures on the front of Wayne singing with Westlife.
oh ... my ...
Oh, a disc, Katie. What happens if you lose it? Or does that not happen in the world of blackberries?
Who knows. Maybe a future edition will feature a disc of Wayne singing with Westlife?
Lol Haz, I've never read it so I won't miss it!!
I'm sure you'll tell us when it does!
So is the blackberry reasonably easy to use? Should I be rushing out to get one?
I've just given Mari the OK part I of the W&C wedding and she was really pleased with it, just goes to show how the apple never falls far from the tree
hi all i'm back
Are Blackberries expensive?
What did you think of it? The wedding coverage, I mean.
I had to teach husband how to use his
The blackberry is good for work but I wouldn't have a personal one. I'm getting an iPhone when the new ones come out as the internet is much easier to use on it
Hello ardilla.
Hi Ardilla!
The bottom line is, can you babble on a blackberry?
hi pink!!!
On the wedding I was heartened about how few stars there were there, it looked like a lovely family wedding to me :-)
hi haz!!!
no lol. well you can bring up the site, but it loads sooooooo slowly
hi katie
No Haz but you can on an iPhone, so guess why I'm getting one :-)
But do you think OK was happy that there were so few stars there?
I tried to play on top of a mountain in the Italian Alps with husband's blackberry
Hi ardilla
We'll draw a gentle veil over Atalante's hilltop activities.
play babble!!!
They still got paid so I'm assuming they are big enough names on their own and it proves they didn't totally sell out.
When you say try, did it not work very well? Or did the altitude affect your word finding abilities?
*tears in eyes over top of mountain exchange*
the connection was too slow :( it kept managing to load half the page and that was it
Well, if they get 2 weeks editions out of the wedding, I'm assuming they'll tag along for the honeymoon. Then there's the opening of the presents, the placing of the furniture. I'd say we'll see Coleen and Wayne until Christmas.
the altitude and the neat schnapps needed to keep from screaming while going down all the switchback roads to get down to the valley
I'm not buying the reception one, you have to draw a line somewhere
then "Colleen and Wayne's first Christmas"
un quot
So a raspberry to the blackberry as regards babble?
yep!
I would have thought altitude and schnapps would help with babble :-)
though the newer superblackberry things might do it
i'm missing 2 i's i have ir4/5 ir4/4 ir6/18
I'm reserving my issue already ata :-)
sorry... the old tourette's syndrom
Hello hillary.
Superblackberry? Defender of the fruit?
We have a goal keeper in the Premiership with tourettes, I'm always waiting for him to go off at the ref and then blame his condition
just got id4/5 still missing one i
ir 5 10 is midway between the 4 & the 6 in more ways than one
we do? who's that?
tyvm
That goalkeeper is probably more controlled than half the players who lose it without excuse.
watching deal or no deal
id4/16 - latin itself (I think)
there were 10 $1M cases and the lady opened 4 $1M cases in a row
"something that has been mentioned previously; the same"
missing 1 p i have pi4/5 pr4/6 pr5/12
pr 5 14 before other 5; mostly not prose
And sparklies all around! :)
Congratulations Lorrie!
wd
Thanks Haz :)
Will be off and get the weekend shopping...
yay lorrie!
ty ndan wtg lorrie
bye lorrie
Good news! I've got a Certificate from the Police to tell me that I don't have any convictions. I can make tea and coffee for RDA with a clear conscience.
Many thanks all - see you tomorrow and have fun!
It's just arrived in the post. Should I frame it, do you think?
LOL! why did you need that?
does it include parking tickets though>
Thankfully not. No mention here of the parking ticket, I may just have got away with it.
phew!
It's all to do with requirements for anybody working with children/vulnerable adults to have a check to make sure they have no criminal convictions. All volunteers with charities etc will have to go through the process.
This particular one was done because I volunteer with a school based business programme, but it will cover me for RDA as well.
It's quite pretty - the certificate, I mean. It'll have to be done in three years time again in case I've offended since.
better be good then!
it's a cost nightmare for charities/churches here - $5/volunteer [e.g. our church has 4,000 members (univ parish) & constantly changing]
no more streaking through the streets at midnight
well, she still can, just not be caught anymore
I thought the CCTV cameras were turned off!
but they might not be next time!!
The cost here is something like £35 ($70) per volunteer, although there are ways of making the cost less.
I can see the point where people are employed directly to work with children etc, but it seems that you only have to be in the presence of a child to warrant a police check. What sort of message does that send out to a child? Never trust any adult?
so much of it is insurance value in case
many parents volunteer @ schools; scouts, univ students work tutoring, big brother/sister...
Husband used to give a lift to foster-chld next door (she was the same age as our younger daughter) and he was requested to undergo a police check.
50 to go
urf! that really is silly
What galled me was that the child was placed in foster care because she had come from a family where the mother had abandoned her numerous children and the father hadn't coped. Yet the mother was able to demand that other people be checked out.
hi all
wb sprite
that really is very silly
Hello sprite.
hi sprite
I know. And he didn't even get a certifcate.
hey ardilla, Haz and Ata.
that's just mean. he should at least get a certificate

argh nDan, that is hot.

nDan where are you?
interesting after having salient yesterday - quote from David Davis "we're increasing the salience of those issues"
va - foot blueridge
How can salient have degrees?
I have kin in Richmond, it's so hot there
I don't know .... thats why I thought I'd mention it. Is he right being able to use it like that?
I go to get the dictionary....
pretty identical
is it like pregnant?
I really don't know ... *waits for dictionary*
anyone with middle schoolers [esp girls] recommend great 1900 era mystery/melodrama w/ spiritualist con women & orphan girl - A Drowned Maiden's Hair; a can't put down [even good quick read for adults]
Salient is the adjective, meaning prominent or conspicuous. Presumably salience is the noun.
But could he not just have said 'We're going to bring those issues to the forefront'?
how interesting! yes, why couldn't he? Using salience seems a very convoluted way of saying it
is he a politician?
yep!
thanks nDan, have written it down!
then that is why, Ata :)
It's politician speak, I think.
its just silly. if it makes great babble people run to the dictionary ...
why plain-speak when you can confound
I suppose if they plain speak, they run the risk of people understanding them and disagreeing.
"I don't want you to understand me. I want you to believe me."
*suddenly think of Sir Humphrey*
Dear Sir Humphrey.
Does anyone have the ai7?

did you ever get Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister in the US? I doubt it
not aware of it; just catch bbc world news & the old comedies on PBS
It was genius, that Yes Minister series. I have the books as well as some of the tapes.
If you ever get the chance to see it, do. Brilliant writing and acting, all set in the British political sphere.
enjoy this Dan: http://tinyurl.com/6y96zs
only recent political was Mrs Pritchard (?)
and you, Haz. its a great bit
i was SO expecting a 500+ grid
Will do.
hi carlee. Disappointed now, or relieved?
i now have to work about 24 days straight 10 + hours / day...am relieved
*laughing at Sir H*
wow, taxing schedule, carlee
i think am more shocked to NOT see it..then relieved it is not
and a perfect clip re David Davis's language: http://tinyurl.com/5dmwso
You're right, Atalante. Fond memories.
*whispers: my hubby is taking the kids out camping for 3 whole nights... will have 2 full days on my own*
oh HOW lovely sprite
had a very stressful week and this is such a gift :D
woohoo!
Another brilliant clip, Atalante.
that really makes me want to go and watch the whole series again
ty for the ai7
nice sprite
I'm listening to the nuclear deterrent bit.
looks like a wonderful series.
yvw ardilla
It really is, sprite. It started with Yes Minister and then he somehow found himself promoted to Yes Prime Minister. It's wonderful.
it really was, sprite. it was so cleverly funny and so true
but I am pretty sure I am not getting all the jokes... it is so clever!
It's the sort of series you can watch over and over again. The actors were perfect for their roles.
yes - classy CYA
never heard of it
missing a r have 2 ra 6 re 1 ri 1 ru
it was a very british programme!

i gathered that ata....I don't need a pint of coffee to figure that out ;)
Talking about national service 'We'll give our young people a comprehehsive education to make up for their comprehensive education'
let me see... brit comedies we got...are you being served
mr Humphries.... are you free-ee?
Yes Prime Minister and are you being served are POLES apart in every way.

i have re4/4 re6/24 re6/18 re4/5 re/4/4 re5/10
quite a different kind of brits humour though
of course, hyacinth bucket
Sir Humphrey: If there had been investigations, which there haven't, or not necessarily, or I'm not at to say whether there have, there would have been a project team which, had it existed, on which I cannot comment, would now have been disbanded, if it had existed, and the members returned to their original departments, if indeed there had been any such members.
benny hill
thank you..benny hill
brilliant, Ata
faulty towers...
Benny Hill hasn't been shown on British TV for decades.
we got it in the 70's 80's
and mr bean
as time goes by
Don't forget Blackadder :)
i missed a season of monarch of the glen
once satelite came in.. coupling, the office, a bunch of mystery programs...
as i said, the old ones
oh Blackadder really was wonderful
i never saw blackadder
You have to :)
i LOVED coupling..we own all the dvd's for that one
Rowen Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry
I cannot watch mr Bean. My husband is laughing until he cries and I sit and stare, and wonder what the heck is funny about it.
Prime Suspect, Masterpiece Theatre
but coupling was fun
I love Coupling too
like old laurel & hardy, or 3 stooges; more guys get it
The only Mr Bean that gets me laughing all the time is the Christmas episode
any clue for the r i'm mISSING?
sprite - I'm with you. I think he's such a hateful personality that I just can't laugh at him.
oh i love mr bean....he is the charlie chaplin of today... his physical sense of comedy cracks me right up...
what aren't railmen allowed?
exactly my feelings, Haz
I tried that as well, Eva.
5th is re 6/21

I liked the first Mr Bean programme, the ones after just got horrid

Sir Humphrey - sorry, just had to include this: Well, it's clear that the committee has agreed that your new policy is a really excellent plan but in view of some of the doubts being expressed, may I propose that I recall that after careful consideration, the considered view of the committee was that while they considered that the proposal met with broad approval in principle, that some of the principles were sufficiently fundamental in principle and some of the considerations so complex and finely balanced in practice, that, in principle, it was proposed that the sensible and prudent practice would be to submit the proposal for more detailed consideration, laying stress on the essential continuity of the new proposal with existing principles, and the principle of the principle arguments which the proposal proposes and propounds for their approval, in principle.
This all started because of David Davis' salience.
and thats 1 sentence!
woooooot! Good one!
that funny ata,,,
it is almost impossible to keep track of what it means. It is so clever!
back again, had to do stuff round house :-)
I DON"T WANNA WORK TODAY!!!!!!!
did you say something, carlee?
I work with Civil Servants, sometimes yes minister is just a little to close to reality
wb Katie
hehehe....I used to have such fun with one of my teachers... in history ... you could write circles around him...I used to write my arguments like that and by the end....his head was swimming
i'm sure it is, katie!
oh, I like the mo8
I have sat in meetings saying "you have to tell the minister" and you can just see it is never going to happen
The brilliance of the writing and acting in Yes Minister was that someone like Nigel Hawthorne could deliver that sentence and make it comprehensible and funny.
It was a brillliant programme. I loved the office, but at times it was really uncomfortable viewing as it was so close to home, you could name the people in the office to fit the characters
i didn't like the office... it was on....when it came on... it was turned off
I think that is part of what made it brilliant, but I can understand it being too close to home if you work there!
it came on after coupling here...
the same with Little Britain, you always know people who are almost like the characters
oh..we get that and ab fab...don't like those either
I never really 'got' little britain, I would like to have but it just didn't make me laugh
I didn't get it for a loooong time, then somewhere around series 3 I just thought it was wonderful
I was like that with black adder, finally got it on black adder goes forth and then went back and enjoyed all of the others
Oh delivery is here......bbl :-)
could someone please clue me the mo7? I am havivng a very blind moment. Or a 100.
if I could, I would!
:D thanks for the intention!
no cash, your mo**y *** out [not walked]
gah! I tried that earlier and it didnt accept it
thank you! Weird word to me.
Other people have that problem sometimes, Atalante.
Ata, can I ask you something on msn?
I have it every day. Nearly. At least I think so, unless I'm dream entering words!
dictionaries... mo7 = prokaryote. Sure. Now I know!
Happy Friday Babblers...I see you're discussing Brit comedy....we always loved Good Neighbors.....

sorry
my son is already off with my hubby (it's only 8:20 here) - they are on bikes, with a bag full of a basketball, a skateboard, etc. etc - to have their "last morning" at the park!
aw - that was a good/sad one
sweet asg
I was on Peter's radio show a couple of weeks ago - it was pre-taped, so I missed it when it was actually on. I got the broadcast on CD yesterday; I didn't do too badly on the air (though I was nervous!)
changed my icon - now it's a Friday icon

Good morning all. ASG--your kiddies are leaving tomorrow...can I sneak into camp with them and pretend I am 9?

Lady--I am going on a mountain vacation with 7 other tennis buddies from July 12-16 and 1 of the women is from Toowomba in Oz.
As you excited?
my hubby - so sweet - gave me jewelry today! he's really very sweet.
When is the parents' visitation weekend, ASG?
I'm very excited/nervous - they'll have a blast...we'll have a blast... and we'll all miss each other! Scrabs, we're going to Total Tennis over the 4th weekend - I couldn't bear to be home over the 4th and see all their little friends! We go to visit them July 28th
OOOOOH - fun/yuck --my baby come home today from 1 week camp - have missed her...my 23 year old son is traveling for two weeks...sort of miss him already - all leave (except baby -13) in August - I have 4 total - don't know what to do with myself on summer days... no one making me go anywhere

I have a UTI and I am so uncomfortable! I started an antibiotic just now--I found some in my stash.
I pulled everything out of 1/2 of one of the attics - now it's too hot to go in there anymore to get the rest when I get home from Summer school - so my previously - for sale - perfectly clean house is a disaster and all I can think about is how much sunbathing I am missing
back again, honestly I need the rest!!!
Hi Kitt
I have 4 attic areas to clean.....

choose an icon that is a clue for a word in the grid
some choose to pick an icon from words in the grid
on Fridays
oh I see
I still have the same old one
anyway, it's when you pick a word from the grid and your icon becomes a clue
2
no6?
each day has a theme too - yesterday = video games - the day before = board games
no6 not males
there's a word I've never used
happens all the time in this game, lol

by scrab
Good morning all! Kris... I love the BoSox, but can't figure out the clue... it's a thick day... LOL
Dorens, is that your cute gradndaughter in your icon?
I know - it isn't batter or homer
Well, this player isn't with the Sox anymore - but was key in the 2004 coup
tr4 nixon
Well, it's not Johnny Damon! :-)
yes it is bea... in the museum of natural history charmed by the dinosaurs. just looking for an icon clue, tho, so it will disappear
scarlet.. hi... good to see you again
oh - no - we don't speak of him here...since he went to the dark side
Lolollll... I still love the guy, Kris, but I do not speak the evil name of the NYY!
yankees? dark side?
Refresh to see my icon clue.
:)
Hi, Dorens!! :-)
{{{Scarlet}}}
don't know enough BB I guess
hey, scarlet!!
my new phantom is homerun though
Hey Une!! :-)
New York Yankees, etc..etc..etc...
lomerun ought to work, right?
AnnieBrooklyn!!! How are you? Missed you so much!~
Annie are you a Yankees fan? Or Mets?
Hi everyone... time to mow the lawn.. 77 down, back for 53 in a bit
Annie is the dark side and I am the official Mets fan here, though I am hanging my head in shame at the shambles of the once-proud team... LOL
Kris, NY Yankee fan born and bred but in a pinch a Met fan so my family will not disown me...I am the lone Yankee fan
So sorry Scarlet - I'm married to a Mets fan. Met him in 1987, and the first thing out of his mouth was how great the Mets were. I had no use for him for months.
No, Annie... you have some company... but I can't recall who they are...
You're a strong soul, Annie!
LOL, Kris. It's inbred... you gotta dance wit' what brung ya to love a team.
em5and 6?
Exactly~
I was born in the bronx and went to nyu in the bronx... yankee fan here, but not too into the game anymore Annie. But my daughter has season tickets and is rabid!
hello, does anyone have an icone clue?
Scarlet, Do you think the Mets will fare any better under the tutelage of Manuel? Anyone here care to step outside and say somethng about the Yankees?
e + me4/6
Here, harp.
lex does
I have one, harp.
Oh, Dorens... the All Star Game will be held in the last year of the old stadium... it should be a heart-tugger... the new building will be gorgeous
problem is her boston brother who is enamored of the red sox... it got uncomfortable when they watched a yankee red sox game together (she's a bit intense).. I have icon clue now.. thought of une when i chose it
Dorens, I am jealous. Last season in the old Yankee stadium...what a time to have season tix, good for her
madi, did you see my clue?
bbl everyone
ttfn!
Thanks, Dorens.
Later, Madi.
ty une
yw--just checkin'!
Une, those babies of yours are soooooooo sweet!
annie...she only has the seats for saturday home games, actually. but once in a while (rare) she can't make it. if you give me your email address. i will ask her to think of you if and when that happens (it did last saturday)
the larger one is my most recent adoptee and was described to me as "not very cuddly"--HAH! :-)
Uni, do you take in strays?
dorens, that is very kind of you..my email address is in my profile
Good afternoon all. Une - pax vobiscum. I read the chat log the other evening.
Annie, I think Omar Minaya is scared for his job and that he is making some very questionable decisions right now... but, Willie Randolph had to go. He's a great guy, but you need to have a castiron girdle to handle all those players under the media glare.
hey, bea--i've adopted three rescue dogs over the last few years--and they're wonderful girls!!
We have three rescues too. All are boxers.
haz, actually I started to use that as a clue but figured it wouldn't be too helpful!!
so, have we figured out kris's clue yet (still on my first cup of coffee)
bea, that's wonderful!
We were a foster home for Boxer Rescue back home.
Perhaps Paxil...
Good day, Haz! So good to see you again!
Possibly not! It was a classic piece of chat.
Uni-clue! :-)
well, two of mine started out as fosters . . . LOL
Hello Scarlet - and good to see you as well!
I think I should pick something less controversial. I'm trying to figure out Bea's and Dorens' clue
Scarlet, I agree about Willie Randolph and Omar Minaya. They need Lou Pinella to handle this Met team but he is elsewhere, alas.
We had 20 foster dogs through the six years we fostered.
I know. We kept two of ours as well.
wow, impressive, bea!!
kris... look at the top of bea's clue
Lou is doing a bang-up job with the Cubbies, Annie... and this year they'd better not have such a season-ending meltdown!
Kris... I think Bzz'
s clue is northeastsouthwest
Ah - thanks!
Hi Haz
lou pinella? i remember him from my yankee fan years
hi haz
i just saw a clip of his tantrum on tv--
i'm back
hi lex
nice kitty
Which tantrum, harp? LOL
My icon clue is a bit "buried".
Who is everyone pulling for: Germany or Espana?
the one in seattle where he threw the bases around
Spain
Yea for Bzzzz!!
He is the master of gran mal fits, harp! LOL
jane, please tell me your icon is not a clue?
Hello Dorens!
And I only say that because my good Brit friend is for Spain.
hello babblers!
hey, eva!
Haz, how is Dr. Haz? And Spangle? And the girls? And you??
Ohh! I got the nine! I got the nine!
Hello all back for 50
hey harp - I am doing 20 things missed your greeting
Eva! Long time!
been popping in + out today...working from home...
lol dorens, it's from yesterday still--space invaders!
howdy, ursh!
Hi, lexlee!
hi evaN, and ursh
go, bea!!
scarlet! hope all is going well...
oh, that's better jane! i rushed through yesterday's and didn't pay attention to icons or themes.
Yes, it is now, Eva. The tale is in my bio.
Ursh, what a cute picture of you grandkids.
scarlet!! My daughter is coming back from camp from your area today - how was the weather this week?
I love grandkid pictures.
Hi, Ursh@!! Fabulous, lex... so comfortable. Hot but livable!
Scarlet - we're all well. I've just changed Spangle to make way for a new icon to clue a word.
I went off to understand Scarlet's clue icon (still working on that) and missed a whole bunch! Hi all
i also dont have scarlets clue yet :)
kris i'm still baffled by yours!
I must look at Scarlet's clue.
love those, haz--wish we could grow them here . . .
me too!!
I must ook at Haz's clue.
They're so lovely and bright, aren't they?
I can't get it Kris
Haz, I don't know when you changed your prophile, but it's wonderful!
i got scarlet's-- somewhere back in the recesses of my mind is a memory of biological terms i once learned
Haz, I love your cautionaries for clueing! LOL
LOL. Prophile. Geez. ProFile.
I changed it a week or so ago. I was driven to it.
Lovely clue, Haz! Thanks!
Well, it
is timely, but will not "stick" to those who need them most, Haz... LOL
You're welcome, Kris. I've no doubt that Atalante would illustrate it with the sea varieties.
That's the trouble, Scarlet. Those who read and approve are already converted.
haz, i agree with scarlet. but that poem should be posted somewhere permanently... at least in babbler's anonymous
Got haz's clue. TY.
Can you post anonymously in Babblers Anonymous?
Yes, Do... I think so too... maybe Haz can talk to Dr_G about new tee-shirts with her rules?
You're welcome, Bzzn.
Not really here but was reading scarlet's profile.. So glad beloved is doing ok... such a scary thing. I agreethe poem should be a permanent part of Babble somewhere.
Oh Scarlet, you'll get me into trouble. Some people think I'm too caught up with rules.
some of the people who need it have been here longer than I have; don't know if you can convert them but has anyone ever actually tried (other than haz?)
I've just spotted that I haven't used an adverb where an adverb is needed! Repair necessary!
how about lickety? some stuff is posted on his clue page, right?
There have been incidents. Ought we leave it at that? *Cheery face*
oh yes, in the last line, but I wasn't going to tell you that haz!
bbs
Hi Uni
You should have, Dorens! It's done now.
Hi, DR, and thank you for your good thoughts!~
hints for the U or the E in the left column?
YVW Scarlet-
Haz, "too caught up in rules?" When, exactly, did that become a personality flaw?
the e sounds like the first 3 notes of the musical scale, backwards
Two each of un and ur words. One un6 the others are four letters.
Haz, Your poem is a classic. It should be posted in BA and read aloud every morining.
Annie, how are you Bobby doing lately?
lovely clue, lance!
my nephews middle name! i ALWAYS miss it as a babbler word!
Scarlet, I've been harangued for being obsessed with rules and for being a humourless so and so. I'm hoping it's not an opinion shared by too many.
ty
Scarlet, We are well. I am very happy that Rhett is doing weill.
I never would have imagined that "critique" from others... not if I live to antiquity, Haz.
*well
Annie, the story is in my bio. He is doing very well now, thank you.
when i think haz, i think totally humorless. absolutely, positively...
Thank you, Scarlet. I just keep my head down sometimes, I've found it safer.
Clue for the re 6/21?
back with an obscure icon clue
and the to 6/24?
Lovely, harpjane!
Integrity is what we do when no-one is looking... Soldier on, Haz!@
I will.
Hazel, Never change!
could someone clue the lone e and the lone n?
I have an re 6, 21 - it's what you do to fat to make lard, I think
to6/24 - inactive
or what you do with fancy drawings in a CAD package
or what you do in Latin or Greek class
The unofficial Annie & Scarlet support team vote to keep Haz vocal and proactive! :-)
or one who re 4,5s
Thanks, Kris... good clue.
lol scarlet - which one?
thx Haz
the lard clue, Kris.
You're welcome, Kris. I'm wondering what icon could be used to clue that to6/24 - a teenager? a sloth?
With all the chirping, I neglected to thank you for your icon-clue, Haz. Nice photo, too,.
Thanks, finally got the re
thanks scarlet
You're welcome, Scarlet, google comes up with good images as well.
Some interesting to6 images on Google image!
Dare i look?
Thanks all
DONE
Congratulations Jayde.
I don't get this to clue for inactive?
congrats, Jayde
Have a great day everyone and thanks for the clues!
Woohoo Jayde!
thanks Annie
c y'all tomorrow!
Hello people. 6 to go.
bye
Wow, Jayde! Well done! @@@
SUPER cartwheelies for Jayde287!!!!
bichon - if you think of the kind of weapon fired from a submarine, take off the last letter and change a vowel.
Lizmac! :-) Long time since I've seen you!
Hello liz! How are you?
Go Liz go!
Aha, thanks Haz
Great thanks, Haz, filthy weather, what?
You're welcome, bichon.
Scarlet, I've been away wandering again.
The weather could be better, you're right. It's good for the crops, so they say.
Bichon, what a beautiful baby!
I'm "teaching Geometry" right now - so don't be surprised if I am here and then - disappear
You are so active, liz... and your charity runs are wonderful!
If one more person says "the gardens need it" I'll scream .
LizSark is the trek woman.
The gardens need the rain as well.
(Shielding ears)
well, folks, 85 left, and I'd better do some work. Thanks for the clues and the company!
Shhhhh... no screaming...it's bad for the atmosphere...
Leaving before Liz screams -- *poof*
LOL...
'bye, KrisE!
Bye Kris.
I'm a lot closer to Liz, I'll suffer most.
Scarlet, charity runs? I'm afraid the only running I do is to get to the pub before last orders. Only wish I was prone to running..very good for me.
Is that sonic boom coming from Sark?
LizSark does the charity runs, Lizmac lives in Stranraer in Scotland. She's a groupie.
I have you properly confused with lizsark... I apologise lizmac... it's still good to see you!
And a jolly camper, AND occasional nurse!!
I need to realign my Babble Brain... too long away from here! ;)
And a spokesman for the Stranraer Tourist Board.
We all wear an incredible number of hats here.
back with breakfast
What are we having, Do?
What are we having, Do?
could someone clue the to7?
vermont cheddar (extra sharp), tomato and cilantro on wholewheat toast
to7 - what the manicurist paints
And an ebay-er, I've just won a rather nice Tshirt for £1
Pedicurist, sorry.
thanks!
oh thanks haz
Good for you! What were your last concerts like?
You're welcome!
Hey everyone
Any clues on the Es?
Hello fit.
hi fit
entrip
Good day, fitcenter!
haha ok that's not a real word, and I put it in the wrong box
tr7?
em5/14 - e plus a repairing word, em6/24, run together the start of a green gemstone and Mr Stewart the singer.
Thank you for the six, Haz. Odd word.
tr7 - start as with Spanish three (first three letters) finish with the object of the manicurist's attentions.
Thanks!
i'd never have found that six, ty haz
Bon Jovi was good, Lou Reed was brilliant, I managed a visit to my son in St. Andrews as well as celebrating my hub's birthday..so all round good time!
eo6/18 - descriptive of debris carried by the wind. eo plus the feline king of the jungle, changing one vowel.
eo6/18 - run together a long time with Bond's Mr Fleming
Wow, liz... nice concerts!
en4/4 - an anagram of Tonto's Ranger friend
It sounds like you've had a ball, Liz.
Better get on with house-y things travelling produces washing by the ton. Later.
See you later, liz - did you finish?
bye liz
See you soon, liz. Have a good house-y day. Be well.
Not yet Haz, still got 4 to do later. Byee
Gosh, you're disciplined. Bye for now!
any clues for the tr8 and the mo7 ??
mo 7, see scarlet
tr8 - comparative relating to the fashion conscious tr5/12
thanks HAZ
mo 7?
It's my clue, bicon.
mo7/32 - m plus a number plus the past tense of 'sprint'
"bichon"
once again, ty haz.
You're welcome.
ty Haz
thanks again HAZ
Glad to help.
Sorry Scarlet, did I do something incorrect?
Gosh, no, bichon. I was just offering my icon clue for the mo7... and misspelled your handle!
ae9 please
ae4/4 + no5/12 with different final consonant
ae 4/4 [2nd one] + another word for what people call you [or your given ****]
ae9 - ae plus the ending normally seen on the end of ast, to describe those who view the heavens.
Une... you are a gardener... can I transplant my insanely-growing cantaloupe plants to another area without hurting them? I'll dig the roots carefully, but the things are taking over the flower gardens!~\
Scarlet, lots of people misspell Bichon [usually Bijon]
i'm a gardener but only "do" flowers--don't know a thing about cantaloupe plants (yummy!)
Scarlet, I garden a lot, but mostly flowers. I don't like to move anything once it's taken off
thankj you
em6?
em6 - run together the start of a green gemstone with Mr Stewart, the singer.
Okay... then if I can't raise the bridge, I'll lower the water... the flowers will be the ones I move this weekend. Thank you for the hints, bichon and Une!
Last year's morning glories seeded themselves and will be amazing once again!
mr stewart? james ... al ... um ...
scarlet, I had to be peeled off the ceiling recently why my brother told me he'd planned to have a guy with a backhoe come out and dig up Mother's peonies!!!
ATA!!
*not why but WHEN
scarletta!!
if the p[lants are small you can move them but if they have long runners or are in bloom don't, it will kill them
WHAT? Une... Peonies are the sweetest-smelling flowers this side of heritage roses!
got it, thanks!
an7 please
magz, we're on the subject of flowers
Okay, magzel... they are not flowering yet, and for some reason ( I won't question the cosmos), the groundhogs have stayed away!
I thought you can
I LOVE peonies--have tons--and my mom's are gorgeous and OLD and well established--believe me, he got the message! LOL
(sorry mag, that was a clue for the an7)
peonies are just the best
I love them... but so do the black ants.
I agree, Ata--and it's such fun to share them in the spring!
I thought you could never dig up peonies and expect them to grow again
bichon, it's a very bad idea, ESP. in the middle of extreme heat and drought!
We thought that too, bichon... the same with the Sultan Lilies or Tigers... but they thrived.
and FYI the ONE I dug up years ago has never bloomed again . . . just foliage
I have two kinds, red and white. The white smell beautiful and the red is rather off-putting
an7 <-------------.
i love watching them come up.. those big fat buds crawling with ants
The whites are the best!
Do you nip off the side buds to get bigger blooms?
Peonies, lilacs (purples, not whites) lilies of the valley and heritage roses... heaven!
Scarlet, I have white ones that were planted here around 1950, waaay before I moved in
LOL, Do.
Don't forget Exbury Azaelas
they're still gorgeous every year
Oh, sweet, Une... and the miracle happens every Spring...
yes, bichon!!
mo 8?
Never heard of them, bichon... are they sweet?
my big pink peonies are stunning as well . . . sigh
i had exbury azalea that was beautiful.. but died and I have no idea why
i don't get the an7 clues, any more help
mo8 - compound word, ends with what a tr5/10 runs on.
an7 is a popular flower--often in bouquets in sidewalk displays
beautiful flowers mag
Exbury's come in rather intense shades. I have a neon yellow one that drives me insane every time I get near it. i have other shades of them and they aren't at all fragrent
an7 is the name of a flower, a plus a disney fish that went missing, finish with half a Hawaiian goose.
Insane how, Bichon? From joy?
bichon, my mom's exbury was soooo beautiful but it's gone now
Hi everyone!
thanks, got it now
Hello Cadfan.
ty again Haz
hey, cadfan!
You're welcome magzel.
Hello, Cad!@!
gotta run--BBL to finish last 20--happy babbling (and gardening!)
Bye Une.
Later, Une... so good to see you again!
hi cad. later une
I have one in shocking red and a few in orange
My neighbor has one in bi-color
mine was a lovely shade of orange.. i still miss it after ten years
I bought a new type of geranium this year: Patriot Purple and it is magenta... strong and beautiful... I do geraniums every year in honor of Mom's memory, but have never loved them.
Oh, I love the terra-cotta and orange shades, Do.
Geranium leaves have a peculiar smell, don't they?
Exactly why I'm not in love with them, Haz.
I thought so!
You are so sleuthy, Haz.
oh gosh yes, I hate geranium smell
:( back - had to update my icon
I've got my Sherlock hat on. I draw the line at the pipe.
I've update to an Exbury
I'm with you - not a fan of the scent of geraniums... nor of the flowers themselves actually
de8 please
The three I have are pink variegated with stripes on the petals, the standard orangey coral color and the magenta... they certainly look lovely in their large pots, but it is the petunias which sweep me away every morning and evening when they releast their scent.
*release*
de8 - to the devilish de5/14 add Mr Fleming's name.
Petunia fragrance is wonderful, I agree. And we have honeysuckle at the back, the evening scent is beautiful.
Thank you again, Haz.
You're welcome, Scarlet.
Beloved truly enjoys the honeysuckle and I am the petunia lover.
I have petunias, but I've never notice a fragrance
thank you haz
I like jasmine, and stock
I love the buzz of the bees round the honeysuckle. Not today, though, it's a bit drippy for them to be about.
bichon, the dark purple ones are especially fragrant.
And freesias, don't forget freesias for fragrance.
I'll havee to go home later and stick my nose in my purple petunias. Hopefully there won't be any bees in them
ohhhh yes
Yes, better to bee safe, bichon!
I tried growing Freesias, but never had any luck.
We have a wild wisteria every spring... and it is almost too sweet... it lasts for about three weeks and it was lovely to see with the screaming of cicaidas in the background.
why doesn't anyone have stock in their garden anymore?
Because they all have decking and water features instead.
What is stock?
Bichon, Haz is right... the dark purple petunias are the most "clove-cinnamon-smelling" ones in the family... and you have to smell them at sunrise or after sunset... they don't release when the sun is high,.
stock is a nice smelly plant that flowers in the evening *finds pic*
Leomn balm is a nice butterfly attractant.
*lemon*
We have tons of lilacs around our place - they smell heavenly!
is this: http://tinyurl.com/4azk35
its so wonderful in the evening, the scent wafts everywhere
Matthiola is the proper name, Maybe that's what it's known as in the States?
I don't really see stock in the garden shops here. Must be a specialty
oh ty haz! I haven't seen in anywhere here for years. I miss it
Old fashioned carnations used to have a wonderful clove smell as well.
maybe I can try and grow some next year
Yes, Haz! They seem (at least the florist's brands) to have had the fragrance bred out of them lately.
Too cold here (Colorado) for stock.
Oh, Cad... I love lilacs.
And sweet pea and roses as well - variety dependent of course.
We have purple and white lilacs, HUGE bushes (practically trees!)
This is a bit like talking about food - although instead of mouth watering, my nose is twitching.
sweet peas are just gorgeous
I know - colour and scent and delicacy of bloom. They defy being mixed with anything else, they stand alone.
Oh, Ata... that plant is beautiful!
And, they cannot be duplicated by perfumery experts!
Perfume can give a hint of a flower, but that's about it.
Right... there's nothing to compare to fresh herbs and certain flowers... my basil is going crazy this year... about 11 inches tall and huge.
I hope you have tomatoes to go with that basil?
freesia shouldn't be put into perfume, its always disappointing
The lemon oregano and Italian oregano are also huge! Yes, Haz... Romas with some fresh mozzarella on the side with a splash of garlic (sorry, Haz) virgin olive oil! Heaven!
Yes, because freesia is peppery and sweet at the same time.
Now, from flowers to food! Inevitable!
My local oil and vinegar shop has just started to stock strawberry balsamic vinegar. It's gorgeous!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
strawberry balsamic? blissful! and have you dipped strawberries into it?
It only took a few samples for me in the shop to decide to buy it....
Daughter introduced me to a raspberry-balsamic vinaigrette and it is superior to anything I can craft in my kitchen!
Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar?/ Sounds wonderful! Wish I could get it here!!
I have indeed. Just let them soak for a while and it's gorgeous.
LOL, Haz.
phantom today.. trident
mmmmmm yes. there's something wonderful about strawberries and balsamic
Scarlet, this shop is wonderful. Lemon infused olive oil combined with raspberry balsam vinegar makes the loveliest salad dressing.
thats absolutely all you need for a salad dressing
Annie's Naturals produces the organic vinaigrettes.... www.AnniesNaturals.com
And now, just as I was getting into my stride as worldwide representative for Oil and Vinegar, daughter has requested the use of the computer.
Ohhhh Haz... anything with lemon or lime catches my attention!
Later, Haz. So nice to see you again.
So, being a good, kind mother, I will move over and let her on. We'll chat again!
tell her to get her own :P
:-)
LOL, Ata... always the pragmatic one!
She has her own laptop, but apparently there's something on this one that she needs.......
she's just trying tocure you of babble addiction!
Bye for now! (Besides, Spangletina would like a walk)
They've tr5/12, they've tr5/12! Byeee!
I've seen Annies stuff at Whole Foods
looool bye!
Right, Cad... we have it at Earth Fare...
but no strawberry blasamic
but a lot of annie's dressings seem to have sugar added, and i don't care for that. are there some without?
or even balsamic
I don't know, Do... I don't look at that ingredient... what I don't know can't affect me! ;)
The latest one I've tried is roasted garlic vinaigrette... very good with a splash of sherry vinegar.
mmmmm garlic anything is good!
Or fresh lime juice...
i just don't like too much sweetness in my salads, persnickety that way. few bottled dressings work for me. Newman's own once had a divine lime/dijoon which I adored, of course they discontinued it
Right, Ata@!
When my budget allows, I buy the Newman's Own products. He is so good about his charities.
I don't normally put dressings on home-made salads, I just like the taste of the salad. But I loooove honey mustard dressings when I come over to the US
I'm the same way, Dorens... that's why I add more vinegar or citrus (not orange) to the dressing.
write them and beg them to bring back the parisien lime dijon scarlet. i promise you'd love it
I make a balsamic/dijon dressing at home.
Ohhhh, Dorens... more heaven!
I worked in Italy for a while during my PhD and learned there that a salad needed nothing more than oil, balsamic, salt and pepper. Good oil and good balsamic. and I really liked that philosophy
That is perfect for me, Ata.
yep! it just works
I didn't realise it at the time, but I really learnt a lot about food while over there
I use a good balsamic to incorporate into a rich reduction for steaks... the vinegar, the butter, worchestershire, ketchup and dijon added to the juices in the pan when searing the steaks before putting them on the grill.
oh how yummy!
And a 1/4 cup of red wine...
worcestershire sauce. thats another very good thing!
It is one of womankind's best ingredients in the kitchen!
absolutely!
I use it for nearly every marinade I put together in the kitchen... add the meats and pop into a zip-lok bag for two days and you have juicy, tasty, garlic-laden flavor that is not overwhelming.
I use it for nearly every marinade I put together in the kitchen... add the meats and pop into a zip-lok bag for two days and you have juicy, tasty, garlic-laden flavor that is not overwhelming.
good morning everyone, back for the 6 I couldn't stay awake for last night
Sorry for double-posting... still getting used to this computer...it has a trigger finger! LOl. Hi, flosey... good to see you again!
oh yes, its wonderful stuff. we used to have w. sauce flavoured crisps (chips) here too!
hi flosey!
nice to see you Scarlet, has been a while
hi Ata
Yes, it has, flosey. All is well now. It's in my bio.
have been watching the chat for a couple minutes - interesting, have never tried strawberries in vinegar, only raspberries which I love
you should definitely try strawberries :)
no time like the present, our local ones are just coming in
There is a local chef who uses mashed strawberries in his root vegetable creations...with garlic potatoes, rutabagas... name it.
oh really? that sounds interesting
wow, that sure is quite a twist

wait a minute, Ata, I meant the game Scramble, I just checked the laddermode version and you are indeed #1 there

de 6 de + me 4/5 (angry)
yes Dorens, sigh. I will get there in the end though, I will I will I will :)
yes you will
tis easy if you use firefox. you copy all the code from krys's profile, and paste it into the bar at the top when the url lives. and hit enter
if you're not on firefox, you've got problems :P
Ah that will be why then I am IE and proud of it
firefox rules (so my son tells me)
why not download firefo just for sudoku then?
oh you're stuffed on IE. useless thing!
Cos the set up I have works fine and I don't like to muck about with things too much as the PC is how I earn my crust.
guess that makes sense then
works fine apart fromo for sudoku :P
how many words today?

duh, thanks Lin
thanks Dorens
yvw peri
*lowers voice* PHAETON!
Clue for the 9 plz
Thanks Madi...that's much better :-)
it really is madi, but most kids don't appreciate that. they don't like being treated like little kids
done sudoku :)
it's one thing to be treated like a kid, if you can also be protected from other kids...
woohoo Ata!
are you done with babble too, Ata
Actually, us middle schoolers get a lot of privelages.
a9...ae4/4 and city in Alaska with hump letter on the end
privilege
oops typo
sorry
what privileges madi?
nope, 22 left
stuck with 45 left
help with N in the middle of the grid please
(i figured if you didn't know the correct spelling you'd want to...) :)
ty phaeton
know how you feel peri - 43 left!
i'm always looking for neew ways for middle schoolers to feel special
YW mm
found no4/5
and no4/4
heeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy!! hursh! I won the school spelling bee 2 years in a row against 8th graders! don't judge!
NM found all the N's from the middle
good for you Madi
*sticks head in dictionary*
: P
i'm not judging - well ok, i'm judging, but i'm making a positive judgment of you. i figured that you were the type of person who, if it were not a typo, would be interested enough in learning to want to be corrected. that's a good thing in my book!
fine, fine. (hehe)
ok so maddi, what sort of privileges can you think of that would be useful for me?
do your kids get rewards for attendance?
bbs
bye bye peri
yes but it is just a piece of paper given out at the awards assembly
oh
I'm not being funny here - but if you're meant to attend school, why get a reward for it?
it's darwinian
you reward the kids who never get sick
loooool that makes sense :P
i kind of agree with that.... and i hate handing out awards to kids who come to school sick anyway, just to get that award
at our school, it makes kids want to come to school more ( not the sick ones)
eww yes, you dont want a school full of germ carriers!
i prefer awards for scholarship, character, citizenship etc
the best reward you can give the trustworthy kids is to trust them. untrustworthy kids... probably shouldn't be rewarded.
but what do they get madi? more than a paper certificate?
there are tons of kids in higher grades who skip school
it's the sitting on the fence kids i would like to reach tho, hursh.... kids who need to realize the importance of character,.. who could go either way
12, 13 year olds often make the decision that it isn't cool to be nice
well, our middle school principal gave out 2 airplane rides around the city. he said he only paid 20 dollars per ticket
so set up a system where kids can report a random act of kindness that someone did for them - they fill out a form saying what the person did and give the nice kid a lollipop
now That's a reward!
we used to have a day / afternoon of school each term where we could decide what we wanted to learn. anything we all agreed on. but only if we'd all been good
part of it is also NCLB which requires a specific percentage of attendance in order not to be on probation - and to show increase each year
hursh, believe it or not we aren't allowed to give out lollipops, or any candy. i like that idea ata
nclb needs to be left behind
well if you can't give out candy... what about coupons to popular stores or something?
tickets to sports events, in class pizza parties, gift cards, free admissions to golf, rock climbing, lazer tap, just about anything.
and most schools here get a huge discount
to 5, 12?
yes, i agree = it has brought many inappropriate ideas with it
we actually had a school carnival for the 8th graders... they earned tickets by doing good things.. and it was very successful... of course the apple polishers made out like bandits, but it was cool anyway
nvm got it
howdy doody everybody
either de 6, 24?
hi ice
hi ice
so ata, what sort of things did you opt to learn about?
hey, ice
whats the frequency kenneth?
de6/24ia is when you're losing your mind
i read too much... i actually expected de6/24or to count
de+ not nice, (put someone down) and something that sounds like its past tense verrsion
other de 6 is de + me4/5
ata, one of my chemistry teachers did something like that... since that period had an extra 20 minutes we started learning german lol (that was our choice)
thanks, both of yu
I'm trying to remember! I know one term we did volcanoes. Which is cool when you're a kid. And one term we did lacrosse. And one term we did some form of dancing but can't remember what. And book binding. All sorts of stuff
I think Lindy's icon looks like a de6or
the mo5s are killing me too
thats fab, ice
I only have one: Cafe du mo5
Good evening all...how is the grid today?

It just sounded as though you were eager to tell us something buty you couldn't get the words out. I'm... could lead to so many possibilities. If we were people with imagination we could fill in the blanks.
clever you! One of my best friends is the lead singer in a band - I love watching them play
<---------an7
woohoo...down to 5
8 - de,mo,tr
geraniums? carnations? dang, why don't i know about flowers
ha ha FM and Haz. Complete the sentence, 'Annie is....'
it's definitely fun, Annie. my brother and I take turns singing lead. basically whoever wrote the song sings it
haz, flosey had one very pretty bloom for the same clue lol
go phae go
These flowers have sea varieties as well.
ahhh thanks haz
I only have 3 7s - ai,an,mo .. dunno about the others
And you write the songs?! Wow!
and thanks ice, got the de8
tr7;to7;mo7;ai7;an7...de8;ae9;mo8;tr8
You're welcome. I don't know whether not knowing flowers could be described as an ai7, is there any treatment available?
Im surprised that Vi hasn't popped in with all this mention of singing
dang... I was hung on that de for a while last nite, kept going to the wrong n
thx phae
I wish I could sing...
much more interesting that way, Annie :)
I've got the ear plugs to hand if she does roll in and tune up. Tuning up in the loosest sense of the word, you understand.
I was in the choir at school. but that was a long time ago
I sing to the game rock band...
singing is one of my favorite things. i don't know what i'd do if I wasn't able
are the mo7 and mo8 related?
and used to sing in every choir at church lol
no hursh
Was that the same school where you did your movement to music?
brb
no...not related...yw ice
mo8 - look at FM's icon
hursh look at my icon
umm *looks at Haz sheepishly* yes it was that one.
thanks :)
i always forget the friday icon thing
no longer singing in church, ice?
mo7 - French masculine my, anagram of not far.
ok, are the tr7 and tr8 related and/or has someone got an icon that can help...?
nope they are not related either
Im 3000 miles away from that church... that and I left that church because it grew too big for itself..
tr8 is a comparatively fashionable adjective
ah ty
i'm so lazy lately!
tr7 - begin with three of Spanish three, finish with the object of the manicurist's attention
ah, well that one makes me feel less bad.
2
thx haz that took a turn I didnt notice
Always look out for the unexpected.
thanks, Haz!
that just leaves to7 for long ones
You're welcome, Kris.
and with that tr7 I see the turn for to7 wh00t
!!*DONE*!!
to7 - the object of the pedicurist's attention
woohoo phae
congrats, phaeton
*groan*
Congratulations phaeton!
woohoo phae and thanks again, Haz
Oh Congrats phaeton!!
You're welcome!
yay phaeton!
i can't find the left E... and congrats, phae
Thank you...and Happy Babbling Everyone!! OBTW it's my anniversary today...10 GREAT years
em6 - e + **, myself, and I + spare the *** spoil the child ;)
em6/24, I think.
odd word
Happy anniversary phaeton!
wow that completes the circle the em6 was the 1st word I clued this morning
woohoo phae
ah... like the oz city when you have a cold
like that never happens here, ice...
And did you use Mr Stewart?
LoL thats a good clue, Ill remember that one
babble's been around for 10 years?
jimmy stewart?
jon stewart?
Thank you all! 'Toodles'
just what I was thinking, Ata!
dave stewart?
Hursh...the australian rock singer
lynxxx's stewart?
This is Groundhog Day. We had this discussion a day or two ago.
martha stewart? jk
i know... just playin around
Australian rock singer?
oh THAT stewart! why didnt you say so?
(I have no idea what we are talking about)
THAT steweart just doesn't seem like a mister to me
neither do I ice
did you miss the stewarts convo the other day?
He's not a Sir, yet. Who knows, if we can have Sir Mick maybe one day there'll be Sir Mr Stewart.
I did
I think I must have
much confusion about who Mr Stewart was
I missed
Oh, poor you. We even got into the realms of other spellings of Stewart and everything.
and even the right Mr S was added into the mix without realisation dawning
lol much confusion there and here
Wouldn't it be awful if we had to pay to use these names as clues?
well we'd just be sneakier and come up with better clues
Shhhhh
clue for en 5 please
Back!
Hello Boo
I mean, if you have to pay money to have a transistor radio on at work, who knows what they might come up with next.
hi annie
en5 - one who finishes?
pay for a radio at work?
ty Haz
You're welcome, Boo.
Yes, I heard that Haz...if played in public FM
mo 5/12?
oh for heavens sake!!!!!!!!
Yes, if you have a radio on in a workplace, like in a cafe or a garage, you're supposed to pay for a Broadcasting Licence or something so that royalties can be paid to the artists.
hi kje, sorry only just started
kje - sounds like cash
and on oil rigs
mo5/12 - French for world.
TY ice
gosh, that's harsh on oil rig workers...
They quote something about music being a way of increasing productivity etc.
It's amazing that we actually manage to achieve anything these days with all the barriers that are put in place. *bangs head on desk and hums quietly*
like the beer, haz: Le Fin Du Mo5
If you ask me,they could turn the volume down in lots of shops. How can you make a decision with stuff blaring in your ears?
i think if music is slow, it slows me down!
if you watch the start of dvds they say they can't be shown on oilrigs either
have you produced any music Sean?
who listens to slow music?
What's with discrimination against oi6?
like in shops ice...they play it deliberately slow so that you stay in stores longer
produced any? as in recorded or as in being a producer?
well in earshot of customers/guests I can see not having the radio on except low volume elevator music to make them slow down and look longer
recorded
By contrast, girls' fashion shops blast you with loud music. I used to end up hanging around outside the shop until daughters had finished trying on.
i've recorded some of thing i've done by myself, but nothing with the band yet
yeah annie, but that to me was never for people working there or 'productivity' ..
of the things* wow
is it anything we can hear?
true ice
no, not really. i have them on CD and on my computer at home.
oh, shame...hurry and do something we can listen to...
Hi again all...Ata, LOVE the icon! Welcome to the Calvin Fan Club
hi dan
:D
I could send an mp3 from home to an email or something
hi annie
who doesn't belong to the calvin fan club?
hi danf
hi lind! Sorry I missed you on your B-Day, but HIPPO BIRDY!!!
LOL thanks danf!
lindy - I didn't recognize you with your new icon
that would be cool - my e-mail is jennifer.oakley@hotmail.com
Ata - look at BBC1 - Canterbury!
hey kje! haven't seen you in a few days!
Anyone have help for no 6/21?
re 6/24?
that's what I thought too ice, but a couple of the "kids" I work with didn't even know who Calvin was until I learned em!
oooooooo!
I'm going there tomorrow :)
no6/21 - a negative prefix followed by males
well it did stop getting made a few years ago now.. that and many kids dont read the sunday funnies anymore
good coincidence
re6/24 - running repairs?
oh you lucky person Ata
Annie, I will send something to you from home when i get a chance.
thank you Sean - just whenever you can
Sean you could always put it on youtube so we could all listen
darn couriers! be back in 10
gosh that stone is sooooo soft
hmmmm
it's a nice shade Ata
Thanks Haz!
re6/26 - repair over again
hey kje, hello!
You're welcome, midnight.
hi FM
got it haz, TY
That's good, kje.
I'll consider it, FM :)
been busy kje?
I think I might take myself off for lunch in Canterbury tomorrow, providing I can find somewhere that doesn't seem too calorie-laden
oh goodie Sean :)
I'll warn you, Annie, the only things I have recorded are from a few years ago, and lyrics I was writing back then are pretty sappy
I like the Pizza Express there and ASK in Canterbury
good food is always calorie-laden... calories tastes good apparently
I've been wanting to record again lately, but I need a new computer
Don't worry Sean - I am sure I'll enjoy it - I just like music
I like Wagamama and the little Moroccan restaurant that I can't remember what its called LOL
couscous is good for you, right?
true again ice!!
Cafe Mauresque
I don't know Wagamama - where is it?
well couscous only has one ingredient so i guess I can consent that it cant be that bad
do you know where Lakeland is?
there are some lovely bistros in Canterbury
yes Ata
its opposite that I *think*. or in the next alley up
ok, i'll look when i'm there next
5-6 Longmarket Town Centre, - I love google maps
ha ha ice
How' work Sean?
its down one of those alleys leading from the high street to the cathedral! think its the lakeland one. and its loooovely food
what type of food?
there, I have changed my icon again!! lol
Work's busy today, Annie. I haven't been able to get much of the grid done.
wow - www.wagamama.com complete with locater for maps and stuff about the food
noodles / rice / asian-y
any client stories, Annie?
I really want some couscous and halloumi and tabouleh now
Taking a break - see you later, perhaps!
i had a weird day at work on Wed - everyine seemed very upset
byeee Haz
Later Haz
Bye Haz *waves*
one poor patient was upset by her medical records and they had to be destroyed (unusual to be able to do it)
wow, she must have been really upset!
strange, why'd they have to be destroyed?
really, really upset poor lady
snack time bbias
there was quite private stuff on her records and she did not like it - she was rally distraught
see you ice
*really
later ice
ah. I get people like that. I had someone cancel their policy not too long ago because he thought we were invading his privacy
wow. and she was upset that someone else might see that?
then i had to arrange transport for another patient who couldn't get home and she was part way down the road when she asked the driver to take her back to hospital and then she drove home herself
what was really sad was she thought that what was in the notes would be seen by people outside the hospital
have you any strange cases this week sean?
this week has actually been pretty normal, actually
which is nice
i am so brain dead today
Phew! I had a training day yesterday on coaching and mentoring and it was very good
ha ha sean - i feel like that every day lol
annie, do you know a lot about patient confidentiality issues and that type of stuff?
yes Ata
may I ask a question?
of course
how does patient confidentiality work when you have a grandmother who is forgetful enough to remember anything a doctor has told them in a meeting? How would my mum and I find out about her results / what the doctors have been telling her?
this is a really tricky one Ata...the pt has total confidentiality, but there are times when things aren't recalled. Would the grandmother seem forgetful when the Dr sees her?
mo7/32 plz
sorry MM - I'm too slow on the rid today
*grid
yes, hopefully! she just had a meeting today to talk about the results of a CAT scan, and by the time mum phoned her an hour or so ago, she'd completely forgotten that she'd even seen the dr!
mo7 - m + number + went fast
Ata could you not reschedule an appointment and go along with your grandma?
oh dear, that is a worry. Would her GP know she's forgetful?
I really don't want to not know how I can help her the best, and knowing what's wrong with her is kinda important!
ty pyro
Very important.
These are the options...
well this is her first appt with the mental health people to assess her forgetfulness, so I'm hoping that that can be established officially now
Actually that heps Ata...
Lindy, I do go along when I can, but she lives a few hours away and sometimes doesn't tell me about the appointments until its too late for me to get down there!
Your grandmother can give permission for you to have access to her records or
aaahhh that could make it very difficult!
oh good ... if its established that she won't remember much, will the drs be able to - oh, wonderful! really? if she can do that, that would be wonderful
I don't want to put any of the doctors in an awkward position, but I do need to know these things!
once she is classed as having a problem an agreement can be set up that you or your mum can be informed
oh thats fab. TY. I've been worrying about that a lot
without permission, it's very difficult...if your grandmother can agree this before she deteriorates it would be easiest
usually the docs will only liaise with 1 family member - usually next of kin but whoever your grandmother noinates
I'm sure she'll agree, I'm already making her hospital and dr appointments and stuff for her, so its a natural step
oh thank you. I was assuming something like that was possible, but I didn't know for sure
At the hospitals I work, we've sometimes set up that all correspondence goes to another family member - that then includes appointments, letters about what treatment is due etc
We had a similar problem with my mother in law...she was back and for various clinics etc and did not remember much of what was said..My husband attended seceral doctors appointment with her and he then registered with the doctors as her carer in order that he could discuss treatment etc
best to set up with local hospitls, GP, mental health services
oops cant spell either
*hospitals - i can't spell either!!
like the icon Cath
I think all the hospitals in West Sussex are starting to recognise my name now! I've spent so much time ion the phone to them!
I hope you're in touch with the PALS service at the hospitals! I know some of them
thanks :) have to have a welsh dragon
that's a good idea, Cath!
hi cath
We should have roses Ata
oooo no, but I should be, shouldn't I? Well I will next time I go down there, I'll pop into Bognor hospital

later peri
I suddenly sympathise so much more with your mother in law's condition! I'd never experienced dealing with someone with dementia / any type of elderly forgetfulness etc before now
I used to live near York so I have seen it often Ata
its so
lucky you! its such a beautiful tr5
de8.50 anyone
I've also been to Darlington where they are rebuilding the Tornado
d to see her deteriorate so quickly ..she was originaly categorised as needing residential care but that quickly changed to nursing/emi..we were then backk to square 1 regarding funding
DE 8 -de 5 & mr flemming

Is it hot in here or is it just me?

just talking to my mother, and gran's been officially diagnosed with the early stage of alzheimers
aaww so sorry Ata
I'm so sorry, Ata.
TY dan and lindy
Hello.
oh, sorry Ata - it might be easier now you have the diagnosis
Oh, Ata, that stinks. But better to know.
bummer ata... my grandmother has alzheimers .. shes in a nursing home now... doesnt even know who grandpa is anymore and they have been married 57 years this oct
yvw kje
hi vi
blooming doctors! apparently the dr said to her "you have early alzheimers" just like that! poor gran!
hi vic
:(
oh gosh ice, that's sad
oh definitely, she has tablets of some description and at least we know what's going on
aaww that is sad ice
awww thats so sad, ice :(
well theers really no way to sugarcoat that kinda thing
i think some docs can't put themselves in others' shoes
I know, but still!
***F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S***
so the next detective sstep is to find out *what* tablets she's been given!
YAY lindy!!
WOOHOO! LIND!
wahooooooooooooooo Lindy!
is british medicine more open to ideas than american? I mean there was that whole stem cell research thing a few years back that really pisses me off
Yay for Lindrickway!
not really ...
thanks guys
i'm not sure ice...not sure what your's is like compared to our's
at the risk of sounding callous - though each situation varies, it is generally felt best to be compassionately open and honest with the patient and their family (I don't have this discussion without family around if there is any alive) - 1st, because they generally already know there is a problem with their memory, second, it enables them to start to focus on what should be done from here and to make the needed plans for what lies ahead
why does it piss you off ice? they they want or don't want to do it?
i think you're right kje - the compassion bit is SO important
it would have been better if they had called you in ata so you would know how to help her
tr8.45 anyone
I agree, kje. But none of her family were there, and she is forgetful enough to not realise she was even forgetful. She didn't even know what she had the CAT scan for
tr 8 - more of the tr 5
tr8/45 - even more faddish
tr8 - More tr5/12
sorry sharon, i'm still chatting too much
I couldn't get down there in time, grrrrrr! Normally I do try and go to her dr appts with her
ty bea!
sorry to hear they bungled that - would definitely ask them to have you present in the future
your poor gran
I think she was just shocked! She doesn't feel anything wrong with herself so being told that was a bit odd for her I think
where abouts is she Ata?
Bognor Regis! Home of old people!
aaww lol
sorry.. had a call.. I dont think the government should ban research that could help people because of moral issues. to me morality is up to the person doing the research and the person being treated by that research
thks bzz
I agree, ice
well ice - while I do not agree with some of what has occurred with stem cell politization - your argument is faulty - the ethics of research can not be left to those doing the research and those benefiting alone or you end up with Tuskegee
im still not getting the de8 although i do know it is a devil something
add Mr. Fleming's first name to the end sharon.
the decision whether to perform x, y or z has to be a higher decision, but the decision to actually perform ethically grey issues has to be a personal decision
DE 8 - de 5 & mr dury (hit me with your rhythm stick)
ty bea again!
I agree, kje. There have to be some regulations. People who are desperate for a cure are not unbiased judges of the morality of their own decisions... and unfortunately researchers being offerred money by those desperate people are not, either.
NO - Tuskegee was not aware of what was going on and did not give consent. only the research and those benifiting were - my argument is that *everyone* involved is aware and consent
But the politicization of ethics is never helpful or conducive to real morality.
well, apparently the world does not agree with that - thus international codes have been set like the Nuremburg codes, Declaration of Helsinki and Geneva, Declaration of Tokyo - what we learned through years of abuse is that scientists left to their own devices can go vastly astray - and not isolated cases, but horrible histories of abuse... and I say that as a researcher myself
clue for mo 7 please
i dont understand who mr flemming is on de8
there's a big difference in the discussion of whether - say - stem cell research should be undertaken, and whether researchers can be trusted to act ethically
writer of 007 tales sharons
thank you vic.
The author of James Bond?
MO 7 - 4 letters from currency & pt of walking very fast!
For what, icepyro?
hello my droning fool-born maggot-pie friends
your comment on ethics and government, that is part of my point
dont knwo who wrote james bond
ty Lindric
nutty!!!!!!!!!!!
And to you, Nut!
hi nutty!
NUttty!! Hi
oh my nutty - what an entrance
hiya linny you gleeking flap-mouthed death token
sharons do you know mr dury who sang 'hit me with your rhythm stick'?
Sharon, google is your friend.
thanks nutty!! lol
no dont know that one either lindrickway
i live for entrances like that
Oh. Yes. One of my big frustrations with recent politics is the conflation of political agenda with morality. If we don't want to trust ethics to researchers, we don't want to trust it to politicians, either! What to do!?!
it's a man's name sharons
trust your ethics to me vic, i promise to preserve them
sharons add 2 vowels & a con
So, Nut, have you read the newest?
Vic i have an idea for what to do... raise our own kids ;)
trust scientists. we are grey, we stand on the line - no, no Babylon 5 quotes
nope bzzn, been too busy this month
Hello, nut. Oh, goodness, I don't have any problem with MY ethics!
went to google thks
I'm trying, icepyro. I'm trying! lol
well then you are doing more than many americans!!
well, that was interesting debate!
*sigh*
yeah, but icy, they think they are raising their kids
my ethics are better than your ethics. I'm a Scientist :P
Sean - you still there??
my ethics are pristine, i work for the government
LOL!!!
yes, I dont like being on soapbox long so trying to steer off course a touch
LOLOL!!
Your ethics were grown in a test-tube! My ethics are 100% organic!
my ethics can be proved on paper in file in some dusty room
haha!
test-tubes? I'm not a chemist!
Yeah, nut, glued to the bottom of a drawer in locked filing cabinet in a disused bathroom with a sign ont he door saying "Beware of the Leopard."
I don't see how asking my doctor, politician, school teacher what to do is helping me raise my kids rather than talking to my kids and finding out who they are.
my ethics went out the front door!!!
works for you icy, but not for the drug addicts
Gracious, is that Annie's ethics I see running by my window? And without a stitch on!
thems poor kids don't get a fighting chance
*oh* it is vic...look at those things flapping!
*my ethics are covering themselves with their hands*
LOL!!!
actually my ethics are probably very dubious. a lab I worked in was firebombed by animal rights people
well then, as the saying goes... just because you CAN reproduce, doesn't mean you should
how scary Ata
Afternoon all!
probably you fall into my grey area ata
Well, if it's any comfort, Ata, their ethics were very dubious, as well.
hi judi
Now that makes sense, doesn't it?
they thought we were breeding crocodiles and killing them slowly. Needless to say, we weren't!
Firebomb a lab to protest the use and harm of animals.
hi Judi
stupid, isn't it, Bea!
well then, shame on them for not verifying the validity of their sources
crocs scare me
hey, Annie, yeah I'm here. Work is taking most of my time today.
we had a few mackerel though
Who the heck uses crocodiles for laboratory research anyway? There's some wing nut animal rights activists out there.
Did their firebomb kill them?
i was going to ask about music cos the cht was too political!
If you'd waited long enough, they might have evolved into crocs.
its like bombing an abortion clinic...killing people to stop killing people...bible thumping activists are a smear on christianity
no lol cos they were in a different building. The scariest thing we had in the firebombed building were seaweeds and a few whelks
now that i know the pot is good and throroughly stirred,...i'm going shopping.
Those poor, poor whelks.
haha. i wasn't around for it, but politics can be interesting
lol nut!
did the seaweed survive?!!
Seaweed. Oh, the humanity.
naughty nut!!
I know. How could we?
nope, the seaweed went poof
Seaweed and whelks, well-roasted, might be delicious.
interesting but i get worried in case people get angry - i'm a coward!!!
Personally, I find both seaweed and whelks delicious. And those crocs make damn fine fashionable shoes and luggage.
I'm from the land of Rev. Phelps and George Tiller.
Oh I love a good debate, even if I dont personally agree with a side, once I see it I may take it up just because, but I don't know everyone well enough to be on my soapbox... I dont want rotten tomatoes heading my way +D
that's true, people get too heated sometimes. i wish people wouldn't take political opinions personally
croc tastes nice...!
* =D
croc really does taste yummy!
crocs taste pretty good too
Just like chicken.
ice, you're fine as long as there are sensible babblers here!
well dunno about croc... had gator tho
Mmmm. Bar-B-Croc.
brb, need to nuke some dinner
It's always hard to gauge on chat when people are starting to get upset. Generally everything seems to be cheerful until *bang* someone flips.
ata - but Ive seen some nonsensible ones so ;)
yes, there have been a couple of debates lately that worried me people would be upset. It's silly as no-one knows each other, but sometimes you can feel anger (not today tho)
And we are definitely not all sensible!
Hey! I resemble that remark!
lol judi!
but there are definitely babblers you can debate with, and those you can't!
ha ha!!!
I hope you are not refering to moi, Vic...
how you supposed to play this game folks?
I'm not referring to anyone in particular, at the moment. I wasn't trying to be pointed!
Read the help page, Kate.
yes ata, i agree
welcome kate, this game is a lot like boggle .. check out the help above this chat
When you think about it, how can anyone have a serious discussion about politics (American politics in particular). The whole process has become tabloid fodder and completely ridiculous.
like boggle, Kate
i'm not sensible Vic, so i agree!
Can not get id4. Any clue?
good evening everyone .. interesting and thoughtful topics tonight.
I'm menopausal so I'm not sensible either.
hello all being just joining in
LOL Bea
Hello, elder.
that sounded like i'm drunk!!
i read somewhere, that to be adult all the time is to boring..
id4 - id+ not you but ** backwards.
are you Annie?? :)
well thats because the politicians have bent the political system to try to stay in power
hic!!
I agree, elder.
I got it. Latin for something mentioned previously.
clever Kenny!!!
Hello all back again - I am stuck on en 5/12 any clues
Bent, twisted, perverted, manipulated.
personally Im libertarian, but not many people know or understand what that means
Well, I think it's great to be adult all the time... the fallacy is that "being adult" means never being silly or creative or enthusiastic...
Sober as a judge - I'm silly also when sober!
KAZZER!!! hi
en5/12 - one who ceases
en5 - someone who stops something
I was listening to Brian Wilson on the radio the other day, Ice. He explained Libertarianism very well I thought.
Bzzz too many adults have forgotten how to be silly once in while.. and therefore have too little time for others who are having harmless fun.
are you describing me judi???!!
That's why I so loved working in an elem. school. I could act silly all day long for the sake of the kids.
No, AnnieO. I was describing politics in general.
I'm an adult and my mother thinks I'm too silly for words - we have all the kit that kids like - ps3 xbox wii etc
thanx
i like silly :-)
Off to help my daughter with a project. Have fun, everyone, and don't take life too seriously - it ain't nohow permanent anyway.
ai7.32 anyone
still not getting the en
wii is my fav, but my ex took it with her
anyone tried the wii fit yet
found the ai
Bye Vic have a good day and enjoy the project.
what about the an's
bye vic
byeee vi
back!
bye vi dear!
Kaz - your butt is your rear en* + the suffix for someone who
hello Ata
Hey, I'll take a clue for that ai7, please.
hi elder

We're off to the Donkey sanctuary tomorrow so that should be good fun
eeyore!
What is a donkey sanctuary?
awwww
where is it Kazzer?
they take donkeys in rescuing them from ill health or death Bea
Its where they look after neglect and abused donkeys and also they take in ones that people cant look after anymore - there are some really cute ones
or ill usage
Sounds like fun.
Its just eeast of Sidmouth in Devon - its free to get in - theyhave boxes for donations - last time we whent hubby sponsered one for me
n
merd
Hub and I are going to the drive in tomorrow night to see GetSmart.
mert
ah, that's lovely, the children used to have a sponsored donkey by their grandparents
BBl. Must lay down with an ice pack for a while. Washed and waxed the car this a.m. Now my back is punishing me for it.
get well soon judi
I got bitten by a donkey as a young kid! Been wary of them ever since LOL
i've not heard of it bea - what sort of film is it?
Judi. take care and bye for now.
oh yes, and you don't like cute animals Ata, only sea slugs!
I dooooo! I love puppies! and kittens!
It's based of the old GetSmart tv series. It's a comedy.
and fish
Bea...saw Get Smart last weekend...very good movie. Darth loved it (cause of Steve Carrell), and I liked it
i don't think we had GetSmart in UK...
we did, before I was born
Fish!
I'm off to wash the old wicker chairs we bought last night at an auction.
oh, then i guess before i was born too?!
bye bea
You had g
it was 60s I think
Yes, in the 60's.
i'm only 10!!!
only 10 and having 2 children? wow!
i think it was early 70's...I was 7 in 70, so 60's seem a little early for me
yes, they are older than me...it was thru stem cell research!!!!
lol annie
My 24 year old daughter watched it on Nickolodean.
new record for me... youngest mother I ever knew before was 11.
darth wants me to buy it on DVD for him
so be nice, what with me being so little
The tv series?
On dvd, dan.
I read a book called Get Smart, an adpatation I guess, but I've never seen the series
was it an adult comedy or children's one?
yes Bea...they have the DVD of the 2nd Get Smart series at our local store, but not the REAL one...
It was an adult comedy.
it was a piss take of spy films / series
why don't i know about it??
Oh, I want the real one.
have to go now .. hope to see you all soon .. have a lovely evening /day. byeee
annie, it was for adults, but it's pretty mild, being an old CBS show
bye elder
The cone of silence.
oh, adult comedy, then i'm not alowed to watch it!!
byeee elder
the shoe phone
LOL!
banana phone!
Hymie the Robot
Squid phone!
I remember Bananaman!
what are you all talking about??!!
(Just made that up.)
then net that fell from Max's ceiling every time he came down the stairs
there's a farm near here called Upper Squid Farm
the best name for a home i saw was 'Devil's Dream Cottage.'
how do they farm squid? much less the Upper part of a squid?
lol dan
I don't know ... one day I'll go and ask
we also have Slutshole Road
I've been stuck at 19 for awhile. Think I'll break. *poof*
please do ata...now i'm curious
I think the lower parts of the squid are at the farm across the street.
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring banana phone!
that's just plain rude ata!!!
I bet I know what is at the end of Stlushole Road!
don't say dan - i'm too young!!!
I know! its so funny. There's Slutshole Road and Bogshole Road near each other
not somewhere i'll go near!
ok annie...i don't want to get reported for child abuse!
lol dan
there are just north of canterbury, annie ;)
i shall drive around that area now Ata
in my toy car of course!!
they should have slutshole road run parrellel to Bunghole road...that's an area I would avoid!
eeewk!
we have fab names round here lol
i like the area called pratt's bottom
I like the River Piddle
I live on Stone Court. During the late 70's/early 80's, the college kids would add a D or R to the sign every sememster
lol I bet!
brb...ANOTHER courier just arrived
funny!
"I live in the taint" "wheres that" between slutshole and bunghole road" .... >_<
dan has a lot of gifts!
ha ha icy
gifts lol
Either that or he's a drug dealer.
he does!
ha ha vi!!!!!!
maybe it's his birthday - we should sing to him
I was accused of being a drug dealer once... left my car in front of the house for days, roomies driving nice cars, house looked like a hole, all windows covered... neighbors complained to landlord that we were a drug lab/dealers
No, he has couriers every day.
And were you, icepyro?
we need sean back to sing
definately not! or Id have a nice car too!
that must have been scary icy
lol. I'm glad to hear it!
it was funny actually.. see I was out of work and jobhunting every few days, roomies had nice cars because rent was so cheap because the place was a hole. windows covered because everyone worked graveyard so slept during day
that is funny
we joked for weeks to the point im suprised we didnt get raided because we ran with the jokes talking about the drug runs to the 7-eleven and illegal immigrants in the basement
i ma off now - its been nice evening - thanks all
Goodbye, Kazzer.
how old were you?
bye kaz
bye kazzer have good day tomorrow
ended up getting kicked out because the house failed safety inspection and had to get some remodeling
oh I was 26
sounds like for the best!
lol yeah
i'm such a goody 2 shoes, i've never been accused of anything (yet)!

Me, neither. But I can accuse you of something, if you'd like, Annie!
i'm just cheeky my friends say
o0o0o time to dig some di4 up on annie ;)
LOL ata and vi - yes please accuse m vi
ha ha icy man
altho being a mother of 2 at age 10 kinda speaks for itself I think ;)
Let's see... well, she's probably a child prostitute, but that's not very funny.
LOL!!!!!
And she drinks like a fish, which, again, at 10 is not pretty.
tee hee!!
goodnight folks time for pills!!!
But the terrible crime I really have her pegged for is JAYWALKING!
night night billmster
thats not a crime here!
ty ata, you tell them!!!
we can jaywalk all we want!!!
Awwww, man. Well, she drives a car without a valid license.
go us!
hmmm, got me there...
how does jay walk anyway? Ive never been properly instructed
And I've heard that her taste in clothes is truly criminal.
(Just kidding.)
Jays usually hop more than walk, actually.
GUILTY!!
yes I think everyone here is tr8 than her!
hahahahaha
(just felt like using a grid word properly for once)
Well, I like to think that I have impeccable taste, but tr5/12y I ain't.
i'm too cheeky at work!
In fact, it is often the tr5/12iest folks who display the worst taste, in my opinion.
i don't have tr5/12 :-(
and you did icy
like victoria beckham
Doh! I had the tr 8 but not 5 got it now
haha ata
Paris Hilton springs to mind. (But I wish she wouldn't.)
i think VB lacks confidence
LOL Vi - seconded
and taste
Paris likes to spring on things
like trampolines?
or mattresses ;)
Stop it, Annie! You're making it worse!
or bogsholes
TO hello
well the result usually looks like bouncing, but Ai dont think she really prefers trampolines .. except maybe the tramp part
ata: i don't know what that means, but it sounds di4y
sorry Vi, i feel like a telling off from FM!!!
hi to
I hereby accuse you all of insinuation in the first degree!
that's so funny icy man!!!!
GUILTY

It would have been a lovely thing to say to me, Annie, if it had been a statement. But you'll notice it was framed as a question, so he could always be thinking the answer was "Not at all!"
{{{{stid}}}}

help with the m's, i have 2 left
oh yes Vi,accuse him of something!
*proudly adjusts the Owl of Eccentircity on head*
hey watch it vi!
vic, anyone who walks around with an owl on her head is more than welcome to stick around in my book, as long as you are not offended by the snickering
Yes, I have the wonderful and much-appreciated talent of interpreting any statement as an insult. As you can imagine, everyone loves it.
owls are NOT eccentric. they are birds of grace and majesty
lots of owls
Am I missing it, or is "neener neener" somewhere in the grid today?
and mad
It's okay, TO. It isn't the owl who's eccentric. It's me.
just in the chat Mark
TO - but having an owl ON your head for 3 years is eccentric
owls are predacious pests... so are the bald eagles that "sauntered" by just now when I was showing mother the progress in the garden...
still looking for ur 5 *moves to toher side of chat from vi*
oh yes, atalante is quite mad...

Phew, Joanne. I am having my foster bunny spayed next week. The family will be able to buy a house but they cannot afford to have her spayed.
Yes, Aussie--ouch, ouch, ouch.
awww scrabbs
She is alot better Scrabbs..... they gave her some medicine.....Trimethorprim, which she has almost finished taking.......
Yes, I started myself on trimethiprim-sulfamethoxazole this AM after trying just lots of extra fluids for 2 days.
i found a wild bunny and kept him for a while then hopefully the humane people set the critter free
I prefer the abbreviation: TMP-SMZ.
Good for you, Joanne.
i cried
Hi crosshair! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I wish I could protect all kids and animals.
i hate seeing animals in the worst way

Ouch Scrabbs !! I hate those kind of days....
OUCHHHH
Plus I didn't sleep well due to UTI pain and getting up during the night. And now I am on call and I got 3 calls between 6:40 and 7, but I am hoping for a quiet night now.

oh boy, I better open the list - I'm 100 left, a few drinks in, and kids leaving for the summer tomorrow!

Hi Jilli

Good morning! (4.29 AM here). Came for last 8 impossible words.
ae9 -- add the end of the stargazer to the ae4/4 that starts a plane
hi ajv
(oldfashioned 'plane, brit style)
Hi folks. How's it going? 2:31am here. Just finished blogging.
wow, ajv!!! sleepless in Finland?
welcome, jac :)
Goodness, ajv - you're worse than me!
Early mom can have so peaceful breakfast...
lovely an7/32, jac!
Why thank you, kind lady! *curtsies*
Are de 6'
Saw a few of those on our sea walk on holiday a couple of weeks ago.
Sorry, new try. Are de 6/24's related?
No, ajv
not really, ajv
only by the first four letters, ajv
Not really, ajv. The first means to belittle, sort of, and the 2nd is to drive mad (like in Harry Potter).
Thanks all! Got my missing one. (first)
Which reminds me, the full word for those Azkaban monsters is in the grid but not allowed.
May I please have clues for Mo8-45 and mo5-14 the last mo5. Thanks.
ajv, look at jac's post and its 6th word without the last letter
last mo5 is there are twelve of these in a year
but the last 6 letters are (re jac's remark)
mo8 is mo4/5 + what a tr5 runs on
mo8.45 is a train that only has one track
That's what I said, Dawg. =)
I was going to say it was a tr5/10 which runs on one ra4/4
and i must head to the PB, bad me...
Only 8 to go. to7?
PB for lbd
I'm feeling like I'm in the middle of a comedy sketch here. Mind you, that's not unusual for Babble chog.
hello fuquay! Is there really a town with that name in NC?
I know where fuquayvarina is!
Sure is! Just south of Raleigh.
DINGDINGDING!
'Going To Carolina In My Mind' (Melanie track).
jac -- you're feeling AS IF you're in the middle...(luv from fusspot)
Oh, okay Mrs. Grammar.
Thanks y'all...I have the mo4-5 (12) of them...guess I need the 1st mo5-14...I've checked the wrong box. Thanks.
oh my goodness gracious me!
Got me back there, didn't you?
just so you know....at work I am considered the grammer GODDESS
Are lo 6/21's really real ly English?
mo5/14 = French for The World.
I thought the first one was Chinese?
1sr mo5/14 -- French for world as in the newslpaper Le Mo***
I know I order it when I eat Chinese. =)
natts, not the spelling goddess unless you mean Kelsey G
to7, anyone? I'm in the th5's of agony!
Natts - you are the Grandma of GrammAr?
to 7 is what you paint on your foot.
fuq, pedicure
ajv -- lo6/21 should be 2 words and is sort of Chinese adapted to Sino-American cuisine
doh!
It's on the end of your foot digit, fuq. You have 10 of them.
not on my foot
I can't catch lo 6-"pair"...
Hi, again!
ruru, you'd look lovely with pink tootsies
They are not a pair, ajv.
JAC!!! I asked after you yesterday, then went to your blog, where I am not allowed...
pink is too spring-ey for me
I can't remember much about my French incarnation so I don't know what they call the world. I do appreciate your help...believe me.
How are you?
My tootsies are pink.
BTW, fuq, in a game of scrabble many years ago I was stuck with the letter Q and put it beside an F, much to everyone's amusement
I know, but they are sort of together in the list...
lo + 'not you' + 'not out' is the first. The second is like to weep and wail but with a different first vowel.
ajv. lo + just **, myself and I, + not out
kind of makes it hard to say how the fuq are you?
Hi Pam - you need an inivitation. Hang on and I'll do it.
I still have 10 left -- too much chatting!
lol jilli
Thanks, lbd!
go jilli! I still have 63 left
I met someone who got a Raleigh PO box just because she couldn't stand to keep spelling fuqu... when ordering something by phone....
Thanks! I was trying to find you on facebook, but I am a luddite, jac
the other lo6 is lo + base**** as in cellar
Erm, PAM, where should I send your invitation to?
LOL fuq!!!
I will send you a message on facebook--finally found you, LOL
Thanks really much, lbd! I had never found those by myself!
Oh, okay. I'll sign in there shortly, Pam.
8-), jac
yw. fuq, how do you pronounce your handle? can you do it phonetically, please?
Ouch - my neck just cracked again. Damned rheumatism.
ajv, do you want corrections of English grammar? Sprite, in the Netherlands, does.
fyew kway vah ree nah
Yes, please!
is lickety away, or is it just my lickety's clues posting yesterday's answers?
Thanksfor the phonetic spelling, fuq.
ok. that really helps.
hit refresh clues, Lady
okay -- in your last post -- "I would never have found those by myself"
Are you are original Finnish Babbler from when Lordii won the Eurovision Song Contest. ajv?
hmm... still shows yesterdays
*our
No, I have babbled about a month, I quess. But I watched Lordi winning and will never-ever forget that feeling.
Thanks, jilli!
did you refresh recently, natts?
must be on your end, Lady. mine turned just fine.
refreshed frequently...
ajv - I was as pleased as anyone in Finland about that win. I hoped it would herald a new, more inventive, era for the contest.
Sadly, it does not seem to have done so.:(
and ajv, when I was involved with the dog show world, I found the Finnish judges to be among the most knowledgeable of all.
what is a luddite?
ruru, google it
That's very nice to hear, jilli. We Finns very often think we are "nothing", I don't know why.
something like Canadians, ajv :)
plus several Finns had the sense to buy my book about Gt Danes, lol
ruru, it's someone who avoids or opposes technical or technological change
okay... lickety's is definitely not working for me tonight.
I'm doomed
how can you be a luddite and play computer games?
oh, what a pity, natts!
lol
Did someone mention a word "book"....*bibliophile starts drooling*
Anyone have the 2nd mo4-5, please.
good question, ruru ;)
well, I am technologically impaired, and resisted new things for a while--I didn't have a cell phone even though I needed one, did not learn how to really use my computer. .etc
Lady, do you want me to email you the list?
ajv, technical book about Gt Dane breeding
I guess I am not really a luddite, as I now embrace gadgets, I am jut challenged...
technologically challenged ..pam... sounds better
thanks, ruru!
Are AMish people considered luddites?
tr8? pr5 other than lying flat (which is where I should be after 2 weeks of 4-5 hours sleep/night)?
To some, they are, ruru. To others, they are an anachronism, lol!
oops, Coronation Street time -- back soon
ciao, jilli
fuq, more of the tr5.12 above it.
Pam... my one Amish joke.. ready>?
later Jilli
sure, ru!
Ok, jilli, my library doesn't include really a doggy section.
nite jilli see you later?
I'm dieing here
No wonder I couldn't find it, never been that in my entire life...
Two words missing...
Pam... do you know what Clip CLop CLip CLop BANG BANG... CLip clop CLip Clop BANG BANG iw?
ajv - sorry for delay, have been away talking to my son. I can't think why Finlanders would think they were 'nothing'.
is?
lickety's clues are from yesterday.. no matter which way I turn...
Am I right, there is no DI 4/6 word?
no. what, ru?
no matter how many times I refresh
maybe you have gone back in time to finish yesterday's grid lady?
oh, now I see that other stupid D. There prob is then
no, phan. there is a di4.6
It is an Amish drive by shooting (pam)
Jacula-I think it's because we have always been in the shadow of someone big and powerful, Sweden, Russia and now EU.
*desperately tries to think what the punch line of the Amish joke would be.*
empty your cookies?
and I got it too
lady, try closing out completely and come back in to pro
LOLOLOLOLOL, ruru
LOL, ruru!
silly, RURU
with my pink toes lb
Has lickety been on? How is MRP?
yup!
How is herinfernalady? Haven't seen her
that yup was for ruru. I haven't heard from Lickety
ajv - I understand. Re the EU monster. It needs its wings clipping! Were you all asked if you wanted to join?
no I don't think so.. sounds like it has been a bit rough for Mr. P lately. poor baby
Herin's okay, pam. I think MrP and Lickety are, too, after a fashion.
Yes, and the vote was very even. But since then we have been asked nothing. We have just been told.
I know MRP's in a lot of pain, we probably wont hear from her for a while.
Same here in UK, ajv!:(
You have still your own money, though...
Only by the skin of our teeth, ajv! It's be so easy to give in to having the euro as it is easy when travelling. But, giving up our own money is just giving away another slice of our unique nationality.
sounds like a complicated surgery too
I will not finish this grid....
how many more do you have lady>?
There have you it right, Jacula!
56 left ... but I can't get lickety's clues to work, so I have no idea what words I'm missing
ajv - When we were on Crete 2 years ago, the Cretans did not seem to mind having lost their Greek currency.
I miss two words: no 6/21 and tr 7/28.
no 6 /21 not males
Maybe, ajv, those Med and Aegean types are more laid back than we nations from colder climates.
the tr 7 is tr + vowell + what a hammer hits
Maybe so, Jacula.
I just to have to wait for clues, I guess
that is not exactly true jacula
Well, we cold climate folks are warriors, ajv! Long may it be so.
ruru - Do tell.
there's still that ae9 (?) that I haven't got
Thanks, ruru, for tr/ From your no6-clue I can figure out only a no5 that I already have, stupid from me.
Yes, we shall fight forever, Jacula!
ae 9/60 is ae plus a person who studies the universe is an ast******* LadyNatts & hello! How are you doing?
ae9 = the study of the upper atmosphere. plane word + n5 word.
There's that English Channel, which has always made the UK feel separate from Europe
ajv - That's what keeps rock music going!
(commercial pause in Corrie)
Help with the MO 7 pls
Yes! And you English have so lö
good afternoon all hugs happy babbling

Hello GroovyKiwi! How are you? Welcome to the grid!

A train that travels around disneylnd is the mo 8/45.

Sorry, Jacula. I meant British...
right, Needed the 8. I need the 7 too though
That no6/21 word is not + opposite of females ajv74.
no6 = not males?
compound word jacula
lady, do you want me to email the list?
like Boy George
I still have 49 left, people ... and lickety clues are not working for me tonight (first time ever they didn't)
ruru - I was giving a clue not asking for one. LOL
don't know why I'm having so much trouble with to*s tonight -- in case anyone else is stuck, the first to4 is the lower extremity digit + a very good grade in school
you didn't say anything mean to lickety did you?
lol

Thank you Jacula, so much.
kkiln!! This is all your fault! How am I going to get any pottery done now???? Hope you are enjoying your travels.

can anyone help me with my last word? ne 6/21?
Night fuquayvarina
ne6 - past tense of ne4
thanks, I think a get a fish for that one
I looked forever for it too.
hi hi all
I hate to ask for a 4, but it is my last one...the last no4/4?
I'm stuck on re4-4 1st and re6-24. Help please.
re4 - what you use to "steer" o horse
re4 lead a horse with it
re4/4 1st is a horse restraint.
re6 extension of the re 4/5
re6/24 - to me4/6 again
re6/24 = to repair again.
sorry mine was the wrong re lol
Hi Babble gang
Y'all are a wonderful bunch of human beings. Thank you.
no4/4?
good afternoon dear DR hugs happy babbling
evening all---I have one more word to find and I need help....mo7/32..pls
I was looking for lots of male workers in the grid today, but only found the oi (greasy chaps) in the end.

sounds like a to4/4 from the same area bzz
Hi DR.
Hi Kiwi. How are things in your part of the world
good afternoon jane hugs happy babbling
Hi jacula and Harp and BZZ and Georgia and Lurkers

ai7?
Finally! Stupid no4/4!
yeah, but I have distractions... omg, there go the rankings! :)
ai7 is a medical complaint
another word for a pain or sickness jane
pbr - it has to do with one-celled organisms.
hi all...btw....kids off tomorrow... I'm a wreck!
I have distractions to but currently both are watching tv
I'm watching tv... lol
ty for the ai Kiwi
Today's video is a farce.
I'd like to be sleeping if daughter would stop coughing, son would stop sneezing and partner would stop snoring.
I saw it on yahoo earlier and it is a doctored ad for something.
good luck with that Jac!
hey Jac - that's what earplugs are for
Bzz - don't see the videos unless I click on another link. Don't use the pro list.
Were are the kids going, As?
Got the earplug, Autumn, but my beloveds haven't learned which voume and motherly and partnerly levels they can go to to be unheard yet.
mo4-5 2nd one please.

Roger. Over and out.

Bye Kiwi

tr + vowel + what you hammer in.
ty Jac!
tx jac!
It's a shipbuilding peg/
It's wooden so it swells when wet.
Next clue?
mo8 please?
does it build on the mo4 above it?
mo8 = a tr5 that runs on one ra4.
Yes, it does built on the word before.
tx again Jac! 61 left now....
ty 69 left
go dr go!
you too green
'm feeling like one of those racing commentators now....
ok got it JAC
Badly need last no4-4 and oi6-21. Thank you.
'DR is coming up on the inside but As is just ahead...'
lol Jac
lol 55 now
cant keep up.. go ahead with out me...
nah, you'll pull ahead, I know it!
Last no4.4 = no + consonant ++ personal pronoun single letter.
I'm whipping thru the 4s.... you're getting the long ones
..And I'm sneezing my head off due to some allergen or other.
I am slowing though
Snot easy typing wheb youb sneezing!
so true Jac... lol
Snot being the operative word!
evening babblebuds
Jacula, thanks, I have that one as no4-5...need no4-4 last one, please
good thing I logged in.....thought I'd finished but noooooo lolol
Hi Just
hiya DR!
Last no = no + first 2 letters of what a water stream is... **ver.
does the de8 build off the 5 above it?
yes it does DR
ok looking...
You do realise that I will be shot a dawn by my fellow upper echelons Babblers for giving these easy clues?
but go to the top most left n
ah found it!
Dawn approaches. I'm off to sort my affairs out. LOL!
YEs JAc, I was here this morning when they were discussing rules for cluing
jac at this late time of the grid.....no shooting allowed
so you're safe
Night Jac- Thanks for the help
now give me easy clues!
DR - didn't see that, 'cos I wasn't there.
It was interesting
I don't have many de words at all...
Green- 55
43 for me....
the de words all start with the same 3 letters
the de's a pretty easy....and if I say that, with my pea brain, they must be!
Just- I NEVER do easy clues. I really can't see the point of playing a word game, or any kind of game if you want it all practically written out for you. Where's the challenge in that?
are*
like I said jac......depends on how long left til flip lol
that is true JAc. I just didn't realize some people had rules
thanks Jac (whew, I'm glad I didn't ask for any de clues)!! lol
However, I tend to temper my clues to the nationalities I'm with at the time in the chog and to the urgency of the end of the griddiness.
but I'll take challenging ones too!
DR - Yes, there are unwritten rules and I have to admit I stick to them myself.
oooh, got the de8 whew - have all but one de6 but refuse a clue from Jac lol
Well, they were written today and I will try to abide... :)
40 left, btw
lol were they DR?
I quit counting LOL
Yes... HAZ had them in her profile
Okay, Asgreen, I won't clue you then! LOL
HAZ?
Haz isn't here right now.
well, one of the Haz's
or jac? lol
Jac is here.
who's haz...brain fog right now?
I know jac ...just teasing...
de words done :)
It was this morning before I went to work and it was haz
de6 (1st) = to belittle.
Oh wait...I get hte joke sorry
I'm allowed to tease....and I only tease the ones I like!
de6 (2nd) is to drive mad, like in the Harry Potter novels.
In the grand scheme of things, I take my finishing the babble grid verrrry lightly
de 8 anyone
Jac - I'm done with the de's silly! :)
re5-10 please
re5-10 please
'One of Haz's'? Excuse me! I was here before.
Much as I love her. I was here before.
excuse the echo.
who is Haz.....full spelling pls?
re5/10 = to grease again.
Haz1558.
Thank you Jacula.
'Only a fool breaks the third letter rule' 'Word definition brings no admonition' 'Given a clue, don't goggle, just google' 'Homonyms, antonyms, synonyms yes, hoops, snakes, circles - DISTRESS' 'If patience with clues has come to an end, morewords dot com is your friend' 'Thinking and babbling should not be mutually exclusive activities'
sigh.....seriousness is sooo overrated
impressive DR.....just what the DR ordered lol
