Always have a dictionary to hand for an argument like that.
Still, it's better to have an argument over ideas than over personalities, it's harder to change personality than points of view.
well we did, the thing is when you read a definition it is not a complete sentence which leaves an implied subject which one friend to to be him personally observing the characteristics while my friend and I assumed more of a the object has the characteristics of kinda subject

Italian is my mother's native language too. Her parents were immigrants. I took 1 semester in college (1980) and want to become competent for a trip to Italy in the next few years so I can visit the villages where my grandparents grew up.
