hi Sandyloo
hi day, how is the weather there? we have some clouds coming over
and the temperature is dropping fast
same here Sandy, rain coming, thank goodness
we'll be in trouble come January if it doesnt do some decent raining soon
I hope so , our water tank is full tho, we dont get scheme water here
we also have a bore, which isnt working at the moment and a dam which is full and a windmill
do you have scheme water?
we have tanks which are close to full, no bore, no scheme. Our dam is looking sad
that means (as you know ) your water table must be low
we try to keep a reasonable supply of water for potential firefighting in the summer. The water table is low, creek hasnt started running and it always runs during May/June
Do you remember that old poem "We'll a be rooned, said Hanrahan..."
our back paddock used to be a wetland so if we have a wet winter it floods and I close it off from the horses =which means a green paddock in summer but now it is dry
and they say climate change is not real
hmmph
I do know that poem - we love all those aussie poems
visitor bbl
Mulga bill from eaglehawk caught the cycling craze and gave away his trusty horse that served him many days///
hello

night flosey
oa4/5
That is right. i forgot all about you not being here. Annie was wondering where you went
thanks josh!
is that Oa a real word?
yes, herin
I *swear* that it is!
mm k I can not see it
(that was a hint)
never mind
;-)
I just woke up from a nap and contemplating returning there
it's just about midnight here..
so I'm about ready for a LOooong *nap*
M9 i am trying to ditch this stupid cold.
oh yuck! do you ever do the cold sock trick?
no what the heck is that
you soak your feet in hot water, then you put icy wet cotton socks on, and dry wool socks over that and get straight in bed under covers.
and in morning, the socks are dry and you feel a lot better.
that sounds truly horrible to me
that doesn't sound appealing at all
that doesn't sound appealing at all
midnight lag was a long one.
just google "wet sock treatment"
Rather not M9
LOL
I can't stand wet feet. That is like torture to me
me too usually. but I can handle the hydrotherapy for some reason.
I would rather eat raw garlic
yup. I do that too!LOL
hot lemon honey
hot lemon honey
mmmm hot toddy
phew. halfway!
hey all!
m, you're up late
hi stid!!! i just got halfway
hi stidy
so are you! so there!
I just logged in... late dress rehearsal
got a late start on laundry... waiting for dryer...
what play?
this is stidkid correct? #1? or #2??
Elton John's AIDA -- I am not fond of the music for this one, and he doesn't have an role apart from chorus, but that's part of being an actor... he's got Pooh Bah next week in The Mikado, which is a GREAT part for him
Aiden LOVES that Aida. there's some good songs in it. but the Mikado! awesome!
who is he doing it with?
and yes, the stidkid you met
the group is Kids at Play, a children's group run by Capital Playhouse
nap time again laters
sweet dreams lady
how fun! I remember seeing that group do Guys and Dolls.
ok. I need to go. Tim's uniform done.
tutoring in morning. today went well
need the lower right corner O for NBT please?
we covered distributive property and double negatives today
so glad the tutoring went well today. ((hugs)) have a lovely day tomorrow.
I *swear* you can find this oa4
good things to have a handle on, to be sure!
he said "i thought tutoring would be different. this is fun!"
thanks m!
NBT
I was thinking about what might have made my life as a student happier... and I was thinking he might need to hear the message that people who are "smart" at math also have to struggle, and sometimes make mistakes and forget things
yup
ok *poof*
sweet dreams m
thanks again
Hello -- back briefly -- hi stid!
hey jill ((((hugs)))) I am glad I decided to get down to 100 before I went to sleep. I can sleep in tomorrow in good conscience because I picked up the stidkid from rehearsal
need two more...
down to 99...
how are you doing jill?
I was sidetracked for a while -- only have 104 words and 180 left :(
go jill go!
*wink*
I was late getting here too -- been very busy and have also been working in a swim most days.
good for you (swimming) and hope all is well?
All is well! With you too, I hope.
things are going as well as can be expected I suppose. Had really thought I would have the house (at least my study spaces) cleaned up by now, but am only just calming down enough to actually look at them and go through things. *sigh* I am so very nervous about student teaching...
Jillibus, was the Lightshow visible from your area?
hey christine
silly nervous stid! you will be great!
I don't see why you should be nervous -- you're a born teacher!
Hello, all - stll looking for 123.
thanks all -- it's not the teaching, it's the hoops... and my lack of confidence in the program I chose as well as in the instructors. oh well. I have to try, and hope that my best will be good enough.
No, Christine -- I take it you mean the Vancouver fireworks? Or are you referring to the No7/32n Lights which we didn't see last night? I tink because there's too much haze from the istant forest fires.
good morning
*distant
hi ruby
hi ruby
BUT I am convinced that if I can survive the 2 hours (each way) commute that my diligence and ability will demonstrate to the teachers in the school that I am made of the right stuff. I really think they are the ones who will be my best allies.
hey ruby!
okay, it's nearly 1 am here and I MUST be up no later than 9 no matter what. SO.... sweet dreams and happy days all!
omg, stid! 2 hours each way!
Good night stiddie!
nite stid
*poof*
how are things today ruby?
I maeant the Aurora Borealis (sp). At one time, on my computer, I had s little video of the lights -- apparently there's a rumbly sound that accompanies them. Bought a new laptop and transferred most things, but couldn't find that.
I need to transfer things to my new laptop but am very unsure how. I need help that doesn't cost $60/hour!
do you have any cords to connect them?
or do you have a wireless network that both can use?
Is there an adult education class that you can attend, to learn how-to.
Just checking to see if hospital has more rabies shots as they didn't have any on Tuesday after summoning us there. He needs more shots. But as far as insurance, culpability, etc., all is under control.
I have a wireless network, and bought an external hard drive but haven't hookedit up yet. Nervous. Silly, I know.
I wish you would all sing to him as he is very depressed!
that is great, have the offenders agreed to pay?
what are you nervous about?
poor thing , tell him he will get better and you are buying a beauceron if he doesn't cheer up
Hi rubyfoo, is your husband recovering?
If I sand he'd be even more depressed!
*sang (obviously bed-time)
they've already spoken to their insurance company but the man came here and begged me to drop the complaint as he does want the dog put down and he faces 4 month in jail. I'm not dropping it until we have total restituion and dog is put down. I don't want that old man to go to jail!
does not*
hah, sandy
He shouldn't go to jail , but the dog has to be put down
no infection but since they have to keep the wound open so that it heals from underneath, he must be very closely watched
ruby, I've obviously missed something. Was your hubby attacked by a dog?
yes, jilly, last Friday, seriously bitten by a VERY large dog and wound up in hospital
like a nightmare.
Oh dear! Where was he bitten?
fortunately, this is a small village, the police went door-to-door and everybody got involved - local police, gendarmes and neighbors
the dog bit (and ate!) a huge chunk out of his forearm and took him down, then came back and bit him on his upper arm. He's banged up from hitting the road and got a puncture in his other hand trying to fend off the monster
Is the old man the dog's owner?
he was attacked while on a walk and the dog (unprovoked) took him down to the pavement and savaged him
Oh, how horrible!
yes, but he is not the one who controls the dog, it is his wife who rescued the dog from the SPA
then owner and dog disappeared from the scene
Sounds as if NOBODY controls the dog.
and husband is very fragile, lost consciousness a couple of times at the hospital and had to be admitted.
but everybody in the village has come together on this and the mayor is insisting that the dog be killed
a lethal weapon Jilli
indeed
I've been on and on about this in the chog, but my Babble friends have been very supportive and Sandy linked me to the photo which helped the police find the dog
How could Sandy do that?
husband is strong except for his heart. I keep telling him that he is lucky that the dog didn't bite through a tendon, a muscle or an artery, or, worse, kill a little child, but he can't look at the bright side....
just from the internet jilli, got lucky
the policeman knew the breed as he knows everything about the village, but didn't have a picture for the door-to-door
sandy is wonderful!
Ah, you found a picture of the breed and it was a Beauceron?
oh yes, a true hero !!lol
How very horrible for you & your husband, And the point about the dog biting a child, probably has occured to parents in the village. What breed is it?
a beauceron, a recognized cross between a German shepherd and a doberman
0h, I see the breed - a beautiful dog.
great idea for a cross, huh?
with big teeth
the policeman thought it was a beauceron and sandy found it for me
except when it's lunging at you!
A neighbour had a doberman, that just paced behind the fence. One night it got out - a night when I had no car, and walked from the busstop. It just stalked behind me, clicking his nails on the pavement.
omg, that is scary Christine
scary chris, but Im glad it didn't attack you
dobermans are famous for hiding and letting people onto the property and then not letting them off the property
I'm sure they can be lovely dogs, but to take in a huge dog like that, not raise it as a puppy, without knowing its background, seems totally irresponsible to me. There are a lot of children in the village
I wasn't sure if it was debating eating me raw, or deciding on a cooking method. My mother used to say you'd be okay if a dog couldn't sense your fear ... right.
I didn't know that
I can understand any dog biting if somebody invades its home (not our chows, of course, lol), but not like that, unprovoked
from Wikipedia ; "...Adults are typically suspicious of strangers and are excellent natural guard dogs. On the other hand they typically take their cue from their handlers when it comes to greeting strangers..." They are a purebred now.
I think that's a grandmother's tale; my husband loves dogs and has no fear of them
Beautiful dog, and the neighbour told me he was friendly, but shy, and couldn't make the first move.
so if you had said "Hello, good boy" he might have attacked?
no the secret is to give of a pack leader attitude - no eye contact, but in Bert's case he was faced with an unstable dog already in the red zone, he could not have avoided it
I think most dangerous dogs are either not socialised from pupphood, or a trained to be 'bad'dogs. My parents and one sister had pitbulls and rottweilers, that thought they were lapdogs - but woe betide anyone who looked sideways at any of the grandchildren.
in itself a protective dog like that is dangerous
I only have experience with our chows, so I'm no expert. But husband has always had dogs
all is in the hands of the owners bad owners make for bad dogs rescue dogs are an unknown quantity
hear hear sandy!
amen!
Some breeds are unjustifiably labelled as dangerous, mostly because those who choose them want it that way
fireworks
I think pit bulls are handsome and, from what I've heard, can be lovely pets. Also very trainable. They were in a lot of the old movies like Our Gang.
here, they have to be muzzled but the French are not great at enforcing their own laws
Congrats Josh. Hello everyone
dog laws are difficult to enforce
gd morning lynxxx! congrats josh
well done josh hi lyn
I think I've told you about the guy that came to us on his motorbike when we were breeding Danes and asked if we trained dogs. "Trained for what?" I asked. "For attack," said the jerk. "Good heavens, no1
fortunately, in this case, everybody (except the owners) has come together on this issue and this particular dog!
that's sick, jilli!!
no!" I said, "An attack by a Dane could kill someone!" "That's what I want," he said. "If someone steals my bike he deserves to die."
that is horrible!
good one jilli, I hate people who encourage savageness in dogs - our dogs are friendly but I know that if we were attacked they would come to our defence as would a lot of dogs but they dont need to be trained to attack
"Goodbye", said I.
There are too many jerks like that in the world.
I think my Ruby would attack anybody who tried to hurt me....but our previous chow, Rufus, a grand old male, only said "woof" when a burglar came into the house and stayed upstairs with us
maybe he though his job was only to protect us, not the house
Oh, Rufus the doofus!
he was a great gentleman!
Hallo everyone
I miss our gentle Danes.
hello sally!!
hello sal
I've only know one Dane and he was magnificent and used to try and sit on people's laps!
I would love a Great Dane jilli. I just really like big dogs.
Did you ever come across a nasty Dane Jilli?
Do they need mega exercise?
Oh yes, our Danes were lap dogs.
hello Sally
No, lyn.
lol, they wouldn't save you, they would love you to death!
sorry, not save - savage
Danes are lazy but ours got lots of exercise -- we had about 3 acres fenced and they would romp and chase each other.
I saw an agressive dane at dog training once, but as I say the owner was hopeless - all other danes ive seen have been very gentle
Would hate to see a fat Great Dane.
Well, the owners have a lot to do with how the dogs behave.
hmmm, I have never seen a fat dane
Neither have I.
Ours didn't have big appetites.
exactly halfway now, and I really need my bed. Goodnight all, and ... *poof*
bye jilli.
night Jilli
Is your husband a bit less shaky now ruby?
Hello again
yes, but he's very depressed. I asked jilli to sing for him to cheer him up!
ok , have to do work now , so i will be back later
Is that just the after-effects of shock, do you think?
and he's in pain now, whereas he wasn't the first couple of days
bye sandy
see you later {{sandyloo}}
hi Infernal
Ruby in the photos that you sent me was that black the bruising?
Hi Lynxx
yes, from his shoulder to his wrist!
it looks like a shirt sleeve!
That is really nasty
How is everything going today and my b.f says ouch and sends his love
give him a hug from me. I've been going on and on but now husband needs cheering up and careful surveillance
infection is the main issue now and we have to be really vigilant! Did I tell you that at our new hospital, none of the personnel washes his hands?
it is scary when they go from room to room in the ER!
fortunately, the visiting nurse is impeccable and our mocal MD is also involved. We'll only go back to the hospital for more rabies shots, but won't let them touch the wound!
wounds*
local* (can't type, still frazzled
Ruby my dad has just had his leg op and they were talking about the hypobaric room to add healing.
I don't know if they have that here, but we'll avoid this hospital at all costs now. And his wounds have to heal from underneath.....I don't know what could help. The nurse said he should eat meat!
Wound healing Vitamin A E and C
he takes vit C and I'll tell him to double his dose and will check on the A and E
Zinc and Silica too. BUT make sure what ever medication he is on nothing clashes
he is already taking a lot of meds for his heart and now antibiotics and painkillers
I'm afraid to give him anything beyond more vitamins
what foods have E and zinc?
he eats a lot of fruit and veggies
must do a drugstore run for the dressings. See you later, dear friends!!!
*poof*
Vitamin E in olive oil, nuts and seeds, and wheatgerm
HI sally
hi herin.
n orth
sorry
hi marigold!
hi everyone
Hi Mari
Have exactly 100 left and am very tired so going to lie down for a bit. See you all later.
LATER sALLY
heve a good rest, sally, it's pouring so I'll wait on my errans
errans
errands* duh
hi mari
Ruby you do have to make sure what husband eats doesn't clash with meds
yes, I am very careful. Fortunately, he has the digestive tract of a tiger!
he can eat anything and never reacts, e.g. scotch bonnets and other really spicy foods
he has been on a modified South Beach diet for about 14 yrs
I'm so stuck...can't find the first tr 5/10 anywhere...clues would be greatly appreciated...
keeps him thin and, before this and his heart attack, surprisingly fit for his age
No idea DD
hmmm...
like tr4/4 but plural?
horse pace?
that is the second tr 5/10...can't find the first one to save me...
give yourself a tr5 if you've been very good
think the number three in french dd
oh sorry, it didn't work, no tr5 for me!
trois
huh oh, pb, getting punchy
I haven't been lurking , just got back
oooo...thanks rubyfoo!
sorry everybody
I never try Fr words

I will probably go to melbourne next year so I hope we can catch up for lunch and herin too
I would love to meet some fellow babblers
* giggle * and computers are supposed to make our lives ea6 how?
Granny I will remember to leave the phone on
hey, sandy, that would be great!!!!
okay herin
I think so too, my son lives there at the moment and I have a friend who owns a restaurant there
where? to both.....
not sure about the restaurant but son lives in St Kilda
I am meant to be going over soon but am too poor at the moment-it's my friend's 50th
have to buy son's ticket over here for xmas
internet is playing up at the moment so dont think i am rude if i dont reply-it's not my fault
well, whatever you do, do not use webjet to book a ticket...they're the pits
I am pathetic, i always use our travel agency
I have used Webjet no dramas. Don't go Tiger Airlines they are a rip off
cheaper via the airlines web site
hmmm i will have to get the kids to help me-
herin, webjet stuffed us around for over an hour....
Actually Rose I think you are right. GO straight to the co's website. I think I use Webjet for price matching. Will never ever use Qantas
we seem to get really good deals via virgin blue...every time
Not had luck with them
O we are going to Tassie to see dad for his 70th
I suppose quantas is more expensive but I likeflying with them
qantas isn't like it used to was, herin
whoot, when?
and I have ff with them
but cheapest is best for me
October for a few days
Once again I say, I love Tassie
Sandy Qantas turned around and told teh b.f stiff you are getting the next AM flight and no we don't care if you have to be in Singapore by the next morning.
should be quite nice, which part of ta6?
and that's the PB for you Sandy
Hobart. We are going to go on the Wednesday then stay the night and get a hotel that night so we are not having an issue in the am then we are going to the restaurant and surprising Dad.
LOL hmm what did I say?
sandy, i think we ALL love ta6.
very true
lol I didn't see that
I love the cheese, restaurants, country side, history, walks, weather, wine, and those great markets in hobart
that's great, herin.i bet he will be gobsmacked
My husband did that for his father in America at xmas once and it was fantastic\
oh, stop it, sandy! now i wannna go back, RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Dad has stuff in one of the Gallery's in salamanca
Salamanca markets?
really? we walked thru th5
we loved that wherever we went, th5 was a huge chunk of history staring at us.
me too rose, I loved the history
I am hanging out to go to Europe for the history
and the lakes!!!!!!! on the mainland, we have no idea what a lake can look like!
yes Sandy
oooohhhhh, pick me, pick me, sandy
I want to go through the Tower of London and walk through the Lakes district where Wordsworth and Coleridge walked
and the western tiers in ta6. hubby and i couldn't see enough of them
* sigh * one day, sandy, one day
We will do it in the next few years - have been to America but not the same
Dad does a lot of wood turning
so long as you don't start quoting daffodils. * giggle *
Hope no Yankees are looking but I hated the food in the US and herin, you showed me some pics of his work once , it was lovely
Rose, I always think of that poem
herin, when we go back, will definitely keep a lokkout for his work
I can't remember where it is now
good dayt to you all... sandy that is such a sweet little butterfly!
i think it must be the most quoted poem, my grandpappy was always quoting it, but then he was a teacher
hey spritey
Spriteeeeee
hello dear babble friends :)
rose, have been thinking of you. How is the fever, and how are you?
gt
Sprite did you read my words about the butterfly
Hi Shady
sprite, am on antibiotics for 3 months. apparently have an infection in the bones in my facial sinuses.
yes I did, isn't it a marvelous feeling, those butterfly legs on your finger? They do it here as well, especially when it is very hot.
Granny lots of yogurt and cranny juice
today, my temp. dipped below 37C for the first time in nearly 11 weeks
oh rose, am glad they found it, but sorry it is such a nasty thing. Antobiotics for 3 months is severe.
that is very good news, rose. Even with those antibiotics you should start to feel better once the fever subsides. *hugs* to you.
well, when you walk into a specialist's room, and he says, " you've become a very interesting case "...it so4 of leaves you dumbstruck!
I love that photo of your 'vlinder' Sprite it is lovely
lol yes! That is close to the chinese curse 'May you live in interesting times'.
herin, yoghurt is ok, but cranny juice? can i take the capsule instread
I second lady, ro4. Cranberry juice is one of the best things in the world to help your body fight infections. Yeah, it tastes ugly. But it helps.
i figured you lot would say that * grump, grump*
You can get the tablet form but taking antibiotics for a long period of time stuffs your innards up
:D My girl had a chronic bladder infection, recurring antiobiotics, name it. Nothing seemed to help. I put her on cranberry juice for a couple of months and she never has had another infection since.
noooo, not the yakult, pleeese, not the yakult!
Granny take pill form
you can get it in the fridge section.
at the health food store
yup. just remembered. * whew*
having trouble with re7 and 8, any clues please?
Rose I would also suggest just having fresh fruits veggies and meats and ditch the fun stuff like sugar and chocolate
No Idea sorry Flosey
hello flosey, pretty butterfly
i'd better go, haven't looked at my emails yet. and it's getting to half past bedtime for me. see you at the flip. and herin? will call you tomorrow for sure.
Yep I will turn on that phone. Loves
sleep well, ro4, and all the best to you.
Just reminded me I have to check email
flosey, a boating race and its plural
* poof *
loves Rose
thanks ro4, got them. Now I will try to remember that one, because I have forgotten it a zillion times.
I should clean the dishes :(
I should tidy up the living room. And I should take a shower.
Im in the process of dirtying ours
hehehe sandy :) That is one of my strong suits. Did you all check out my profile text?
I always do that is how I know that the photo is such a good photo of a vlinder
:D thank you sandy! I really loved that list of butterfly names in other languages. The list on the site is much longer. And not a single one resembles the butter and fly principle. Isn't it amazing?
It is Sprite, when I saw the word 'buttorfleoge" I immediately thought that was the dutch word for butterfly and was surprised to see vlinder
am just checking the etymology of vlinder, and that is interesting.
let me translate quickly...
ok, translation added to profile text, beneath the list of names.
Hi all
hi J40!
hi J how are you?
I'm good thanks, just been strawberry picking. How are you?
oh fresh strawberries, how lovely
We did test a few & they were lovely - some of the bigger one will get dipped in chocolate later!
ok now you got me drooling.
Hello J40
Sorry :)
hehehe, be sure to put some into the Penalty Box :)
Usually do
Never sure if it's the right amount though!
then all is well, grin. *sneaks into the PB to get a strawberry*
J40 you have just reminded me to stew up the strawberries tomorrow. If I had Chartreuse I would use that
I always have to just eat them all!!! Don't last enough to do anything else.
I fully understand that :)
no butterflies but fireflies. Bye all, thanks for the company.
I make them into jam and then use them on pancakes
bye Sprite
Loves Sprite
I don't have the patience to make jam :( but luckily I know people that do!
dosen't take long
I use the alcohol as a preserver
I've heard that & there's even a recipe for doing it in the bread machine but I'd still rather eat it than make it :)
I have heard that too about the bread machine. I don't have one
Couldn't live without mine - it's due to beep at me very soon, the house smells really nice.
mmm yummy
Must go now - boring housework awaits! Bye
enjoy
good morning *stumbles sleepily into the chog*
Morning Good
just reading your list of books Good, glad to see a classic in there - interesting list
as always when i start these big grids, i think how can there be 284 words in here.
Hi Sandy. If you get SBS tonights Supersize me is very good
much of the list influenced by my book club but some trown in by my own interests
we've had a couple over 500 , those I wondered about
I have seen that documentary before Herin, it made me feel sick
No not Supersize me but something different
Good E ... forgive me joining in, but I see you're reading Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson - that's one of my all time favourite non-fiction reads; gripping account! Are you enjoying it?
makes me sick just thinking about it. yuck!
opps it is called The Supersizers
is it similar?
i am city. apparently the author is local and will be giving a talk in town next month. i hope to go.
No

How cool, Good
i'm not too far in but already have been recommending it!
Oh, fabulous, Good E :) I would relish the opportunity to tell him that he was both informative and hugely entertaining.
Hi City

Hi everyone
Hi, neighbors!
did that help?
good morning everyone;) there are a few "legalese" words in here today:)
Hiya, Crossy!
howdy judi:)
Everyone must be working very hard on the grid!
The silence is deafening!
*sprinting through entrance ga5 of Babble*
Hiya, Scrabbs!
How are you, Judi?
M'alright! Howzabout you?
Being lazy. I have lots to do to get ready for departing on vacation tomorrow--laundry, packing, shopping...
Where are you vacationing to?
Good Morning Babble Friends
Hiya, River!
Lake Placid. I am climbing the highest mtn in the state, Mt Marcy, on Saturday. 14.8 miles round-trip. For the American Cancer Society. I have raised > $1300.
Hi Riverdance
big grid today - figures - got lots of work to do today - oh well
I am getting really anxious
Do it in little bits, RD
wow scrabbs, thats great
Awesome. Been to LP many times. We used to live in Central NY. Hubby climbed Mt. Marcy once. I haven't been up that one.
We registered back in Nov and now it is 2 days away!
Where did you live?
We just hiked. We didn't do real climbing.
We now live in Delaware. Lived in NY for 30 years.
My mother grew up in Utica.
Ha! We used to live in Clinton - which was about 8 miles south.
Hamilton College!
Exactly! Small world.
Thanksgiving vacation in Utica, 1976, I toured Colgate, Hamilton + Syracuse Univ as a HS senior.
Been to all. Went to a few SU football games (when Donovan McNabb was QB there). Also been to many Colgate hockey games.
Did you go to school at any of those places?
My mother graduated from SU in 1953. I went to swim camp at Colgate twice, in the early '90s when I was on a US Masters Swim team
Nope, Judi, I stayed home for college + med school and went to Univ of Buffalo, 15 min from home.
Ah. My mom's family was from Buffalo. Gram was a nurse at Mercy Hosp. for years.
whoohooo - left column grayed - now need to get back to work - have fun on vaca and your hike if I dont see you again before you leave scrabbs
Really? I am on staff there.
TY, RD!
Where did your Mom grow up?
Cool. I'm pretty sure she worked there in the 40s & 50's. Mildred Wegelin was her name.
She worked in the maternity ward. Loved to cuddle those babies.
I am on staff just for newborn care.
182 to go and I am not seeing much. Ridiculous.
I was thinking this was a pretty easy grid. I'm down to 32.
I need to focus on one tile at a time.
Time for a break. I'll be back to finish after lunch.
Hi and good morning from the hotness capital of the world, CT
Hi Bichon. We have been HOT, HOT, HOT too.
Hello! It's pretty toasty here in the White Mountains of NH. 85 and muggy.
I'm going to San Mateo in the Bay Area for two weeks and it's quite cool there 60's-70's
Hi blueheron--I saw a great blue heron overhead yesterday when I was driving
how nice!
Visiting the grandkids again, huh, bichon?
Yes :-))). Though I have one here who I babysit for often
I see blue herons here quite often. Makes my day
Huge wingspan.
I just back from Germany where my granddaughter is.
We have blue herons here too. They tend to perch on the tops of trees.
Grandchildren rule! My grandson is turning 1 in a week
Sehr gut
my grandaughter turned 7 in May
Ach, sieben Jahren.
das is gute
Why does the family live in Germany? Military?
as6 pls
sorry, german isn't a strong point for me...even though I took 2 years of it in HS...eons ok:)
Hi Periwinkle
peri, which as 6?
They're in the military.
TY for eo4--it's so obvious in the grid
2nd
hi peri
Scrabbs, good luck on your hike
a + faint
ty bichon
at 6?
going to be in the 90's again today
I have as6 = I have an as6ment of rabbit photos
ty scrabbs, have that one
TY, bichon.
nm
yvw
Peri, did you get my fainting clue?
Saturday's forecast in Lake Placid = high of 67, 20% chance of rain. Hiking in the rain sucks.
I had to say goodbye to my kitty of 16 years yesterday. It just broke my heart.
yes, bichon, I said ty at 10:21
Tell me about it Scrabs. We hiked in Norway last summer in the rain a whole lot
Oh, no! It is SO darn tough to lose our pet companions!!!
oky peri, didn't see it
OMG, I am so sorry blueheron, my heart goes out to you. my kitty is at the vets
what was wrong with your kitty, blue, if you don't mind my asking
She waited until we got back from Germany. Her kidneys were shutting down.
I'm taking Bisky, my 16+ y.o. Bichon to the vet for his shots tomorrow. It makes me feel optimistic that he will live longer, despite so many things wrong with him
Poor honey
awww, so sad, but bittersweet that she waited for you to get back
Scrabbs when I was at the vet the other day, someone had a pet bunny to be checked and I thought of you :)
when they stop eating they are ready to go--the vets have always told me that with my bunnies.
yes it was bittersweet. It is so devastating when we lose our animals.
I have 4 bunnies buried in the pet cemetery next to my house.
bbl
how sweet scrabbs
Yes, we look for them around the house, think we see them, continue with our pet-caring routines.
I still call my downstairs' bunny "Callie" even though Callie died over 2 yrs ago.
My hubby won't let me get another dog
I say, sorry, Miss Bea (Beatrix Potter), I was thinking of Callie.
You have mentioned that, Bichon, but how do you feel? I cannot imagine not having a bunny in the house, at least one. I have 4 now.
<---- bunniless
But you have adorable Dylan! Hi Ruru!
he's no bunny
I feel awful, but there are strong reason not too. They're not house contained and we go away a lot and that puts a burden on my daughter. And, my granddaughter here in CT is really not old enough to be around a puppy
I know, this morning after I got out of the shower I was looking for her, she loved it when I wrung my hair out on her. I'm sorry I can't type anymore through my tears. Thank you all for your support.
((Blueheron)) You are sad only because you loved her so much.
It is a privilege to have + love our pets, and to give them wonderful lives.
i am sorry for your loss blue heron,we had to say goodbye to our 16 year old kitty this spring
Off today, Crossy?
thanks crossy
nope, have 2 hours then off to work
Almost halfway, then I must get packing.
where u off to scrabbs?
bye all, and thanks again.
Adirondack Mtns--Lake Placid. Leaving in am. Hiking Mt Marcy Saturday (14.8 miles round-trip) for American Cancer Society. I have raised $1300 so far.
((Blue Heron)) The sadness is normal. Let it be.
thats a good long hike indeed!
Aha, 142/142.
Yep, and the mtn is 5344 ft high. The total elevation of the hike = 3600 ft. I am getting so hyper!!
Mt. Marcy is beautiful. I can see it when I drive north on route 7.
I will be there tomorrow!! Where do you live, Gail?
Rutland, Vermont
Aha. well, on Saturday afternoon when I am at the summit of Mt Marcy I will wave to the Green Mtns and you!!
ahh had to look it up... http://www.summitpost.org/mountain/roc k/150394/mount-marcy.html
Yep, I am just across Lake Champlain from there and a bit south. I have friends who used to climb there every summer. I love the Adirondacks and have spent time in Speculator, NY.
I visited Burlington a few yrs ago and LOVED that area! I could move there. Kayaking, hiking, college town, skiing, Shelburne Farm!
Alright, time to be productive! BBL
Burlington is a great city. I love to go up there.
good morning everyone
howdy flosey
HELLO ALL!!!
good morning flosey!
bummer, missed scrabs.
...
hi stid
I got down to 91 last night...
hi stid, how r u today, I'm taking a break from job search, this is more fun
must be ignore crossy day....
(((cross))) (not ignoring you...)
lol
hi cross ... who ignores you?
I am stuck on re7/36 and re8/50, any clues please
never crossy, we would not ignore you
hey weiik. this is, indeed more fun. I am waiting for my project to dry a bit, and eating breakfastm, so decided to check in.
what project?
ahh re8= a boat sailing cometition
boat race flos
hm. I need those also flosey
and pl
*puts bacon at finish line for cross*
yaaaa
thanks cross!!!
mmmmmmm bacon
thank you, thank you dart - puzzled over those for so long
oops. thanks DART! (((hugs))) how did you sneak in? and WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? *missing dart mama look*
and that's fireworks
YAY flosey!!!
atta girl flos
and crossy, thanks for clues
:)
so flosey -- less than two weeks, yes? *bounce bounce*
yup stid, jill, anne and I are meeting next week to get acquainted before the drive down
wonderful! do you know if you are coming via Pt Angeles or Seattle
yes, Pt Angeles
I haven't heard from saanich cat or raelite about if they can come, I know hetty can' t
shall I find an inexpensive lodging for you close to our place then?
seattle is a nice city .. .worked there 4 a little while
haven't seen anything of saanich or raelite online for quite a while
raelite has been sometimes in facebook, but not a lot.
Seattle is okay as cities go. Getting a little too L.A.-like for my taste.
seattle is nothing like LA..
I drove through Seattle once - during rush hour - in 1961 - would be interesting to see it at a better time of day
box stores everywhere. Doesn't matter if you are here or there, you have the same selections. bah! *disgruntled mama look*
was there is 90s ... passed through going to olympia park
I dropped out of facebook
well, since I-5 was built rush hour is ... um. hardly "rush" more like "where will the stop be today"
ugh LA ...
babble meet is in Oly, weiik...
haven't seen LA since about 1950
the women in Seattle have homemade breasts stid
flos, traffic is still bad on I5 .. once arrived during a blinding snow storm .. 10" on road, trees looked beautiful flocked with snow, drive was bad going to portland though
is Olympia a city or small town stid?
L.A. has NOT improved with time. except there is a lot of family history down there for me, so I will go at least once more at some point.
as opposed to LA
Olympia has grown flosey, and styles itself a city (by population it is), but retains some of the inconveniences of small town without much of the charm remaining.
hey ruru!
anyone have the stats on the o in the corner?
people on the western side of the cascades generally don't know how to drive in snow...
Olympia was just a visit .. walking through park .. hot springs .. on way to ruby beach .. make that a destination point
I would pledge my word on that one, ruru
oa5/10 and oa4/5 I believe came from that o
and the neighboring cities of Tumwater and Lacy are now (esp Lacey) getting so big, there's that whole megalopolis run-together thing happening.
only the 4/5 flosey
I didn't see the h
above the J...
thank you
down to 78, wondering if I should list...
I list when I know I don't have the time otherwise
must get some breakfast now
I made a panatoni last night, can't wait to have some
later flosey. love to mr flo, tell him my garden actually has veggies in it this year!!!
mmm. panatoni...
we
we
anybody want butter on their to5/10 for breakfast
we've been eating potatoes, broc. crookneck squash, peas, plus lots of salad greens for a while now
:-D was just thinking the same thing, to5ed panattoni. *wipes drool off keyboard*
ruru, are the dungeness crabs still plentiful there? I ate razor clams once an enjoyed them
we have chard, a cucumber and a bunch of vounteer squash, also potatoes and garlic.
oh, yes, he brought garlic in the other day
is vounteer squash better than the stuff that gets drafted for the job?
gardeners, how do i start scallions? Can I plant one and split it?
we also have two empty beds waiting for winter crops. We'll buy starts this year. Next year when I am not taking any classes I hope to doo more intensive real gardening
lol, it can be, crossy! one never knows what you'll get if you plant some squashes too close to each other
LOL cross! it's more difficult to "diagnose" and if it's anything like the hybridized kale might not be edible. but it's sure pretty to look at!
or what flo said...
think ill just stick to beefsteak tomatos, pea pods, romaine lettuce and green beans..do not know if i can handle mutated veggies lol
must be off - plumber coming today to install fixtures in powder room.
nothing wrong with those crossy, love them all
later flosey! ((hugs))
no peas or beans in the garden this year. next year... I have PLANS!
oh and some cukes for my son
we don't have much luck with tomatoes, unfortunately, our season is too short - and we get wind up and down the valley - have to grow them in our tiny greenhouse or on the deck
i start them inside flosey
haven't heard anybody mention lima beans
ugh@ lima beans
I like to grow fava beans... way better than favas imho
i only grow what i like;0
don't think we grow limas, do grow broad beans, love them
my sentiment, but, once I had bake limas in a sauce, I've changed, the amish make them here in Philly
there. down to 70. I can head out and list when I return ... in good conscience. Must turn off the wa 5 to the garden, too. (((Hugs all))) *poof*
ah, that sounds delicious weiik, i do love them plain with butter though
and add another t to the h2o word for wa 6
I had them in the '60s, never got the recipe though, I've tried and not been able to duplicate the taste, but, the amish at reading terminal in Philly make a great
ok, bye for now, be back at flip
by flos
might find them by googling weiik?
i've tried epicurious, but, not the same
back to job boards .... poof
we have menonites here, and in the fall they offer up all kinds of wonderful jams and jellies and cheese and farmer sausages...mmmm
and meat pies,and tarts....drooool....
mmmmm..... cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese
Weiik, I found a recipe and copied and pasted it into my bio if you want to see if it is anything like what you knew
i knew say cheese would bring eva out of hiding:)
ah, looks like I missed weiik, maybe she'll be back
its like when you walk past an open window and a lady puts a pie out to cool. cant hel pit. :)
lol, I remember walking past my aunt's open window where she had cookies cooling so my dad helped himself and offerred me one - I told him that was stealing! he laughed and said his sister wouldn't mind
we did a dutch apple pie the other day was funny, all the doors up and down the first floor opened up and all these heads started poking out looking for the source of the smells
sounds yummy crossy
but really must get on with the day - be back at flip
I'll leave this on my computer, if Weiik comes back while you're still lhere, will you please tell her about the recipe
you serve it down east style with a small wedge of very sharp cheddar and a scoop of french vanillia ice cream
or wales style with the cheese and whiskey
Wensleydale cheese of course
Oh all these goodies...I am getting hungry just reading...hi everyone
howdy annie;)
hi crossy
anyone have a clue for the first re 8?
tr
re8 - re and an ******ed box of chocolates would be lovely
hi flosey...I would love chocolates too but I dont know what kind of box you mean
or a mixed boquet of flowers would be an ******ment
of flowers
Thank you!!! flosey
yw Annie
R's done
flosey, just read your recipe and I am going to make it as soon as the weather get cooler. I also had them in the Reading Market. They are delicious.
afternoon all! trying to muster up the energy to do a whirlwind house cleaning.
could someone reclue that box of chocolates clue. Sorry, humidty making me dense
(thus, why I'm here on babble!)
re + to put into categories
ty Annie
youre welcome
fireworks
congrats, annie
hi feather
Yeah, Annie
anyone want a clue before I head out?
yes, is 8
is + vowel + (war song) Over *****, Over *****, send the boys, send the boys over *****, etc
tyvm again Annie.
youre welcome..that one was a doozie
I just looked it up...it's a line on a weather map
okay, bye dear babblers
be well, annie
you too, dc...poof
Good afternoon
hi, Mr Bob
hello everybody; I'm back to try and find a few more words
hi, ruby
hi ruby, how's your hubby?
hello everyone -- company has gone -- few days breather before the next batch
he is very depressed and starting to feel pain i places that were numb
and the hospital is a bad joke
is he on pain meds?
yes, I'm giving him a mild opiate, approved by his md, but the hospital is horribly disorganized
and the bruising is migrating, which I find very scary
sorry to hear that, will keep him in my prayers
The good news is that the dog is "in jail" for 3 wks and then will most likely be put down and the owner is insured!
hi ruby -- sorry to hear that hubby is not well
thank you python
pain where was numb is usually a good sign. that is good news about the dog.
nan, he was savaged by a huge dog last Friday
I am just worn out, trying to get all the various things organized
this is virtually my only respite!!
then babble yourself silly for a while!
I was hoping so, seain!
silly ruby, lol
may he heal well and quickly, ruby
ty seain!
hi ruby sounds like things are improving some
oh ruby, that is terrible -- hope the dog has been put down
how are you holding up?
and our village is wonderful!
good news about the insurance too
they have to keep it for 3 wks first and he has already had 6 rabies shots
yes, that is a relief. If you can imagine, the man's wife works for the FR equivalent of the ASPCA and this was a rescue dog!
you just never know about animals, especially if the owners do not take good care of them
the whole thing is bizarre!
and to take in a rescue dog that weighs about 100 lbs without knowing its background? crazy!
Hello all! ((ruby))
{{jellen}}
they definitely should have taken more precautions until they knew the dog bette
hi Jellen
How's Tim?
hi, Jellen
Still feeling miserable...brb
can't spot that top middle e -- anyone have the stats?
the man who was with the dog(Magique) at the time, came here yesterday to beg me to drop charges so he wouldn't go to jail and the dog wouldn't be killed. I did a French shrug
that is very irresponsible Ruby - all shelters should assess their dogs and judge their suitability for being rehomed...
hi, NB
the woman works at the shelter!
hey, Seain :)
hi jellen ((hugs)) sorry Tim isn't feeling well yet
hi nancy
hi, Wild! :)
we are all rooting for Tim (and, of course, for you, Jellen!!!!)
looking for that E, Nan...
got it -- et 4/4 babblet
greek letter plural, nan
*snuggles NB*
ty, ruby
ty ruby
hi eva
hey, Eva!! how was the cake tasting? :)
how are you healing up nancy?
hey, wild and Eva
not til sunday, dearest. cant wait, though!
hi seain
oh, the5's a cake decision?
mmm cake
i got to select the flavor combinations for the take-home kit his mom is picking up for us. :)
Oh, not doing too badly at all thank you, Wild! I definitely have high hopes for being able to make my trip without crutches
I think we all need to come and help you choose the cake!
I would hope so!
I'll second that
dc -- there is a decision process underway. no decision just yet, other than NOT wanting to spend what the first place quoted us.
cool, Eva
Well if you want a second opinion, Eva, you know where to send that cake ;)
Back...had a phone call...
we are certainly great judges of cake, especially those of us who hv spent time in the PB!
how are you holding up jell?
Oh my, another large grid! How is it?
this is what i chose for the take-hom kit: (1) carrot cake with cream cheese filling and vanilla buttercream frosting (2) white cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting (3) yellow cake with caramel filling and caramel buttercream frosting (caramel is their house specialty) (4) grand marnier cake with orange filling and vanilla buttercream frosting (5) white cake with raspberry filling and lemon buttercream frosting (6) red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and vanilla buttercream frosting
not bad Jellen if you plug along
not bad so far
I reached past half!
Didn't get much sleep last night, but I'm staying at a hotel tonight...
eva: you like the same flavors I do!!!!
and we have a full tasting at a different place before we even get around to the take-home kit! gonna be all caked out. ;)
hi bichon, anything new on the dreaded inlaws!
I'll take a slice of #1 and #3, please!
*perking up at mention of grand marnier*
can your wedding dress be let out?
213 is as far as i'm going to get without lickety
heh, i have my first fitting in 2 weeks, so hopefully it fits well!
wtg, nan
213 is a lot more than I'll get hahah
make that 215
it all sounds yummy eva
Oh, no. We live 25 miles from them, so our paths haven't really crossed.
i was amazed at how BAD some of the cakes i have tasted are. at one place, i got a piece of white chocolate cake on the same plate as a piece of wild strawberry cake. when i walked back to my friends, i couldnt remember which was which. they looked and tasted identical. NOT a good sign!
sounds lucky to me!
I'm not sure what I want more now Eva...cake or grand marnier...
put your hands together, NB ;)
no, not a good sing, Eva
I'll settle for what we have here in the flat...fruit and wine!
er, sign
NB, been meaning to ask -- did you draw all those sketches in your Flickr account?
close enough, seain!
hi, all. had a great meeting this morning with the voc rehav counselor who is helping me get a new wheelchair. The chair should be ordered in the next couple of weeks.

does he do commissions, NB? he could make some real money with that talent!
Oh no, it's strictly a hobby for him - I don't think he'd enjoy it so much if it was work ;) he is very good though...one of his many skills!
on day when the humidity is so high it's unbelievable I've gotten any words.
i hear ya. the best way to ruin the fun of a hobby is to make it a job. but if ever he needs a buck, at least he has a way!

hi everyone
Hello Feather.
being lazy today. friend that was supposed to come visit isn't going to make it until tomorrow, so i've just scrapped all cleaning plans.
made myself a cuppa -- would you care for some, dearest?
mmm, lovely!
btw, in case anyone didn't see, check my profile please
ooh Eva, what tea is it? (Didn't know Americans drank tea ;))
I drink tea all the time nancy
many of us drink tea, NB
my parents are british. im as good as one of you. ;)
*!* ta da *!* - a very friendly grid for a change :)
congarts, nan
i love tea, but i'm boring, prefer lipton's or just earl grey
don't like coffee at all
this one is orange, mango, cinnamon. my "usual" blend is a rooibos chat mixed with mattevana, which has little flecks of chocolate in it. i have several other varieties around also. ;)
I'm with you feath. It's tea, black, all the way with me
ever tried lady grey, feather? -- been drinking that ever since Murchie's Earl Grey has not been available.
speaking of, I need another cup ...
nope, haven't seen it! will try it if i do
Twinings blend
oh, and i did really like one blend that barnes and noble used to have, ginger peach
this one ive got right now is a Twinings blend :)
ro7=8 a cool word
Mmm, that sounds good Eva! I've been drinking green tea with ginger and lemon recently, and it's deliiicious.
most americans do not drink tea, NB -- especially those in the south. Whenever we go south for the winter I always take a kettle and teapot with me, because chances are that neither will be in the house we rent!
whenever we have our superintendent's days or other large gatherings for our school district, there's always 2 coffee pots, regular and decaf, and a hot water pot for tea
I couldn't live without tea. Got a new favourite which is white tea with peach juice. Easily the best-tasting non-alcoholic drink I've ever had!
clue dc
the ro7 of plants is important to their health
that sounds lovely, NB!
I live in the South, and we drink plenty of tea, if mostly sweetened on ice
i have recently discovered sweet tea vodka. thats dangerous stuff. ;)
it is Eva, I pretty much live on it now ;)
ooh, I don't like sweetened tea Seain...I grew up in a house of tea purists, so that's probably why!
sweet iced tea, never hot
i used to only drink my tea with tons of sugar (silly american kid) now i still like to sweeten my iced tea, but i prefer a tea (iced or hot) that has its own flavor so i dont have to sweeten it.
I'm still trying to find the closest match possible to the chrysanthemum tea my family makes...it's delicious but short of making it myself, I can't get it anywhere!
hello friends. nancyboy, I showed my son your friends' drawings, and he was mighty, mighty impressed!
chrysantemum tea is a BIG happy!
is this family you will be seeing in korea, NB? if so, get a whole stash. :)
The tea was one of my disappointments in China. I was so looking forward to trying a lot of different kinds, which I did, but the teas there are not blended and the ones that I tried were all very flat with a bitter after taste.
hmm, is christine r. in here?
anyone want any clues before I leave?
The last 169 will do! ;)
lol champ -- go to lickety -- most of the ones I missed were well known babblets or derivatives
LOL Eva, as opposed to the many other families I have? :P
You're right. Haven't done it yet. There are so many words that they fall off the tree! But must be organized about it...
2nd ro7 pls
i meant the extended family, as opposed to the ones not acknowledging your lovely existence. :P
ro 7/28: make a loud noise or a list with me myself and * in it

trying again - hello babble friends
ohhh I see! well yes then, it is that family ;) only fifteen days to go before I leave now..!
off to look at my email - 4 days absence, so there will be a lot of deleting to do! Bye til the flip :)
better mark it on my calendar so i dont suffer too much NB-withdrawal ;)
LOL! I'll be gone about 10 days, can you handle it? ;)
id better keep my nose in my work. otherwise the days will pass SO SLOWLY!
lol! I'm sure you'll manage ;) it's me who'll be the nervous wreck!
oh, im sure you will be alright. will you have access to the net while youre there?
I'm not sure - probably the first few days, but after that I'll be travelling down to Jeju so I'll probably lose some contact. I'll try and keep everyone updated though ;)
You're going to have a great time nancy
im excited for you. take lots of photos -- ive never been to asia!
Pictures would be cool, agreed
thanks, both of you :) well I'll try my best, but as we get closer, I'm really more scared than excited!
yes, totally got the stress in the trip for you
Of course you are nance. Once you get there things will get better.
when was the last time you saw this batch of family?
I think it is wonderful that you are going. I hope you are well received, and reminded of how much you are loved
i hope it's better than you expect
trying for nbt...help with lower right o?
you'll swear by it, featherbee
well thanks, all :) and Eva...hm, about four years ago!
lol, thanks
seems like a good time to get reacquainted, then. :)
you are very welcome. I was starting to fear I was invisible in here!
swear an oa4
of course not tri. how r u doing?
definitely ;) I'd better be off though, lots to do this evening! later all x
sweaty, wildcat. I have about a zillion things to do, but it's too hot at the moment to do anything more strenuous than a grid
(((huggles NB)))
best, nb
have 1 ja 4, 3 je 4s -- what am I missing, please?
grid is good choice

I'm not. We're a good bunch
this is like one huge extended family
just chipped in via paypal
I agree with wildcat. plus, the numbers are on our side....singly, it's not too much from just one, but in concert - wow!
absolutely
feather, just saw...you are a genius! great idea...
oh, the sky is messing with me! Looking all gray and angry, but the tr4s aren't showing their whites, so it's all for naught, as usual. another day of garden misery.
yeah, wow is right!
allrighty all, time for me to head home. have a good evening!
bye eva
hi all
isn't osage a type of orange?
tri, you're e.c.e, right?

bye feather
hey everyone else
hm. no one else about! LOL
hi stid
Hello, stidmama and wildcat. Quiet, I see.
hey vi! how's you today?
Not bad, thanks. Keeping an ear on the room where playdate is sounding slightly cranky. How are you?
not bad also. decided to not worry about the state of the house today... but might finish clearing my mess from the desk in the living room later if I have the energy... I hate that I am so far from having a nice, neat house. I have about three weeks before I am officially back in school. *grumble*
hi vic
Oh, I hear that. I dislike a messy house - but I dislike cleaning it, too. On any given day you never know which one will come out stronger. Usually the lazier option, I'm afraid.
i'm with you vi
yes, housekeeping is lowest priority (as long as bathroom and kitchen aren't too unsanitary)
hey kje
any help on the is word?
oh, I suspected an is word, but haven't found one yet. What's the letter count?
Cleaning is like putting beads on a string that doesn't have a knot at the end!
is 8
Good analogy, ChampFit. What's the point when it'll just get messy again? =)
is+letter+th5/12
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!
yes. very apt. (apt analogy -- feels like I am channeling jellen)
Oh, thanks, zoozzoom. Knew it had to be those first 3 letters, but couldn't come up with the last.
ty zoom, was pretty sure it started with that prefix
thank zoom. wanted an M on the end of the word! LOL
Me, too, stidmama.
yw :-)
sorter
sorry!!!
Apparently this is a subset of the -m word.
*puts pretzels in PB for Champ*
whoops - thundering. that is my cue to exit! bye all!
bye trifioso! ((hugs))
ha!
is the second RO 7 fishy?
barnyard...
hm. thanks Champ
that was the third ro 7...
needed that one too.... LOL
well now I need the second!
we can wait together for that one...
ro 7/28, 2nd one r + two vowel combination +***ry cloth towel

Must we sing again, for Tejas?
someone made you sing?

When it was Texas, we started "Deep in the Heart, of Texas"...
bye stid!

thanks zoozzoom, how are you today?
Not bad thanks..how are you?
Good, probably won't finish today, not enough time, I did finish yesterday. Will settle for half..
it was an ok grid..untill the 80 or so...then i struggled with a brain ache..lol
Yep, it seems the short ones I do better, eyes absolutely give out with the long ones. They are best left for weekends where you can putter at them off and on.
fireworks! :)
WTG Fish :0)
Nice job funnyfish!! woot-woot-woot!!
cheers! I thought i was nearly beaten - those last few were really doing my head in
ok time to grab a bite to eat..take care all & happy babbling!!
Hello! 73 to go...
time for bed for me - bye zooz and thx for the help again - night all :)
your welcome funnyfish.
Hello Jillibus
G'night ffish, shweet dreams.
Hi Jilli!!
What a place to get a mosquito bite! The tip of the ring finger on the left hand -- makes typing very itchy.
lol yes i suppose it would :-)
evening, all. Jill, thanks for your flickr comment! :)
Hi NB -- good to see you!
evening, NB
I am still "recovering" from a besting between my toes...just glad it wasn't a hornet!!
Hi NB!
you as well, Jill :) though with two Jills in one place I just know I'm gonna get mixed up here!
I saw eva's mention of your account, NB -- had to have a look. Frank is amazing.
I might answer to Gillian...
Well, I'm taking a break for a sec...
Bye jilly!
Oh, he is great! I really love his drawings; they're so realistic
He has a huge talent.
wa7 pls
well thanks on his behalf! :)
think electric power, peri
duh, thanks Jillibus
Haha, peri -- I expected "nm, got it", lol!
I'm working the list from the bottom up this time -- shows how groggy I was last night when I couldn't see obvious S, T, W wrods, etc!
I m going from the bottom up too
now in the to words
Awww Jill, I'm getting that way myself! Waiting for J to re-arrive on msn but I might fall asleep before he does ;)
Peri, is your cat showing any positive response to meds yet?
not sure, she has been at the vets since last Fri. I am taking her home tomorrow. pls keep your fingers crossed.
what's the matter with your cat, peri?
Fingers are firmly crossed, Peri! Best of luck with that one :)
I will not be able to keep her here if she is still peeing utside the box, but she has has the gel med for almost a week and will have had the pills for a week, so hopefully she will be fine. I will be keeping her upstairs with me.
thanks so much for asking, NB
ah yes, I remember -- the pee problem. Was it an infection?
You're welcome Peri, I really hope you get to keep her! I love the kitties here but I miss my little Lola to pieces. I saw her the other day when I went round to collect my old laptop, and she came tearing out of the flat to meet me!
Aww, sad, NB!
yes a UTI, urinary tract infection
Well, that's curable, peri, thank goodness!
but this is not my house :(
Can the owner of the house be re6ed with? :/
nope,
2nd to7 pls
well shame on them :( hope they aren't pressuring you to get rid of her?
Need help with et5/12 please?
hey all!

hello m9 :)

good afternoon (evening or whatever)
that'd be my flatmate, M9 ;)
he does really nice work, NB
he does really nice work, NB
don't forget to pl.
that is amazing! that's quite a lot of work for the time you've been there.
love google
well thanks on his behalf, Peri! I think he's just amazing :)
ohh it's not all been in these past weeks M9, I've known him about 3 years (actually used to date him) so they've all been done in that period!
ah! I like the blow dryer one.
you didn't say you used to date him! oho!
;-)
LOL, that's because the level of awkwardness in this living situation depends solely on neither of us bringing that fact up ;)
LOL
Hello...
hey Jellen
but it's working out ok?
hi jellen
hi jell!
hi
Hi, kje!
oh yeah, going great so far, thanks! we always stayed on very good terms because we both knew it was just kind of a fling. So no worries there!
hello, Jellen :)
no more flinging - with each other i mean.
question mark not statement
ah so casual about relationships. different world than mine (27 years with Tim)
same with my DH m
well he was a friend of Leo's originally - I met him about 3 years ago, when Leo was still ostensibly straight. As for no more flinging, no promises. He's very cute ;)
Morning everyone.
But not all relationships M9, some I can be (and have been!) very serious about :)
hi lynx
bbl
yes. I know NB.
It's great that you've been with Tim so long though! 27 years - congratulations!
how is tim, jellen?
thanks! I don't even feel that old!LOL
yes Jell, did they get the vomiting under control, and the fluid?
or are you tired of talking about it?
Hi Jellen ((hugs))
3
is the pig calling word in this grid, can't remember how to spell it exactly?
2
no, not here lynxx
go go go kje!!!
i think the pig calling word has the "sometimes vowel" in it.
sooey
TY

there are pigs in the grid though. cool.
YAYAY kje!!!!
Hooray for kje!!

ROFL!!!!!
what were you, lynxx?
what did i walk in on??
lol!
you're all body parts?!?!?
didn't try kje, just reembered you talked about Feather the other day
it was a FB quiz, m9... what body part are you.... feather was a boob
smart woman, lynxx.... don't do it
and have you tease me for the next month! no - I am smart
funny trying to explain that chog to my 15 year old son!! LOL
oooookaaaayyyyyy
LOL - exactly, lynxx
friend's birthday tomorrow and their fave dessert is banana pudding... so I am making this one
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/pau la-deen/not-yo-mamas-banana-pudding-re cipe/index.html
I have never had it, but it sounds amazing... bought all the ingredients today...
I need help with st5/14, please :)
in the video she explains why it is called not yo mommas
sounds nummy kje!
all the world is a st5/14
the other st5/14 is a plural
and one who does it.
hi jilli!
yo mamma?
nm, got it, duh. The pl. (Thinking of peri)
yo momma, ru
Love love love your chocolate cake - but that one sounds/looks awful
hi kje & ruru!
which chocolate cake?
hi Ru
hello, Ru :)
lynxx - banana pudding is a southern thing... people here love it, and usually make it with nilla wafers. I am not a fan, but if I must make one, this sounds better than the usual
hi everyone
the root beer/sasparilla one - I make it ALL the time
ah - yes, that is nice... and easy
<--- not big on banana pudding
I'm not a fan of pudding in general...
<--- never had banana pudding
me neither
although, IO did have some rice pudding in denmark that was pretty decadent
omg jilli!!
hi all, still talking about food? anyone check the contents of vanilla wafers? heart patients shouldn't be eating them
banana cream pie!
Sssttuucckk on the is8/45?
banana cream pie is another matter
i doubt if many people outside teh US have had banana pudding, and likely not many in the US outside of the deep south
is8 - prefix meaning same + th5
noooooo, not a fan of cream pies either... or meringue
i hate baked dry meringue (like the shells).. but love lemon meringue pie.
don't like pavlova kje?
thx kje...lol..gotta get the th5 tho....*runs off to hunt*
how is banana cream pie any different than banana pudding, except for the crust
not he4 but th5
thxks kje
not really, lynxx... though it is edible
well, edible depending on the fruit on it... i don't like strawberries
i don't know kje!
clue for the first ro7 pls?
but that is baked meringue and chalky... the meringue on pies is soft and pillowy
home made pav is very nice - all gooey in the middle
as long as it's Nilla vanilla wafers...lol Funny how we can take something as healthy as a banana and make it unhealthy!
ro7 - what you put a ro5 in to cook it
jill, don't the nilla's have trans fats?
nah... this one uses butter cookies....will be better
oops, second ro7. thnx kje, i have that one.
ro + missus and m***** smith
ro7 maybe like the male chicken but change the second vowel
found it!, ty
ibd, like the
yw
OK, lots to do... must finish cleaning the house... having about 20 over for dinner tomorrow night
and i thought you were looking for ro7.. like the flower.
Bye kje
wow kje!!!!
20 wow..
that's a challenge
pyros! whew!
nah... I do it every couple of months... I have it down
Hooray for Dawg!!
the only sucky part is the cleaning
Yikes, kje! Such things terrify me -- even having 6 vor dinner is scary.
nice dawg!! how was your day?
yay lbd!!!!
(waiting for my invite)
no re6 to be scraed... they are all friends
i have about 8 for dinner regularly.LOL the 6 of us plus 2 missionaries.
Well, I'm such an unaccustomed cook...
so what are you having?
I'm having some crabs for dinner..does that count.. the thing is that they don't know that THEY ARE dinner.
well, since it is going to be about 104 when they arrive tomorrow night.... not much cooking will be going on... all cooking today, then cold smoked meats, several various veggie salads, fruits, cheeses, home-made challah, and wines....
I can make tolerable meals for one (me), but Entertaining is terrifying.
rofl ruru!
homemade challah! heaven!
mmmmm - what kind of crab, ru... i miss maryland blue crabs with old bay
when it's hot out I use my steamer, rice cooker and/or crock pot out on the porch!
dungeness crab
kje, MD crabs r small now and up to $38 for 1/2 bushel
making fennel/crab/avocado/meyer lemon towers
Love dungeness crab!
nummy!!! my parents ended up in Port Angeles and that's where my sister and her husband live too.
sound great... i love crabs of all shapes, sizes, and genres
i'll be having steak kabobs over a campfire!
ruru that sounds AWEsome!
that sounds wonderful, ru
ruru, do you get live dungenuss
ru, I'll be right over...
yes.. at a market near me
weiik - i will be there the end of august, am hoping the are larger by then
I should try fennel. haven't done anything with it before.
hmmmm
ruru, I only saw cooked ones, while in portland, they were $7 in 99
LOVE fennel, m9 - you need to try it!
well then I shall!
i like kohlrabi (or however you spell it) and daikon..
OK, i really must go.... see you all later...
it is great with grapefruit sections arugula and bacon dressing
fennel looks astoundingly like a human heart to me.
i can dig a good root. heh heh heh
I'm having mussels in a red sauce, but, can't start till I get the garlic, someone used it all and did not reup
by kje, thanks for the help...I did find the word!!
by kje
I made a salad with shrimp, grapefruit and avacado and red onion recently. the whole family was raving.
my dad used to gather mussels with the patriarch of the Macah indian tribe.
he made incredible mussel chowder.
m9 has the price of shrimp gone up in your area? Ours went up 30%
Not that I've noticed. I only buy when on sale. I got them for 4.99/lb
what is the patriarch of Indian tribe?
we get them at asian market for $3.50, now, $5.
My sister and her husband used to live at Neah Bay on the reservation, across the street from the ocean. My BIL was teaching and they rented a trailer from the Ides', who were the oldest couple and just about everyone was related to them.
no asian market here. When I go to Portland I stop at Uwajimaya
kinda stuck with Fred Meyer's.
are you hot doggin' it there m9?
glad I said that..just got the seaweed in grid!
oh, but, you do have the best seafood I've had, I miss razor clams
oh sorry thats Oscar
oh! ha!
it's our version of Kroeger's
we lived in Cinci for a while, then we could go to Jungle Jim's.
off to store for garlic ... bye all
have fun weiik!
sorrow sorrows
I guess jilli will be so6/30 while in the pb, while we are all eating seafood ... poof
tee hee
Oh dear, what did I do?
Jilli, what's wrong??
jilli entered words in the chog, naughty, naughty
LOL, made sense to me...but not for grid..so used to all of us sharing our troubles...
Jilli, the least you could do is chog the oa's I'm struggling with!!
Oh, I see -- wasn't looking! I wondered why they didn't show up in my list! Didn't hit the space bar hard enough (I often don't :( )
so we're soul sisters in more than name!!
I guess, lol!
i just did the oa's.
don't forget pl watering holes in the desert!
Ses satisfied -- now for the Rs.
another of my favorite tricks, only seeing ONE combo in grid...lol
I still have a 100 to go.. ugh
82
36 left here -- should be doable. I just have an awful feeling there's something else I should be doing...
I'll make you all feel better...have 161 left!

Ruru, will you share?
i'd prefer buttered almond with some dark fudge sauce on top, myself
go go mixi!
chocolate ice cream is good, but it has too much caffeine for me. :(
my point exactly mix
If anyone's looking for ro5/20 (the last ro), here's a free clue: Remove the first letter from something that makes people get taller.
so no takers for coffee ice cream?
I hate coffee.
Have some spumoni here!! and cookies and cream...but I think I'll go get some lo-cal popcorn *sighs*
I'll settle for juicy Bing cherries.
back in my skinny days I'd put good vanilla ice cream (or sometimes chocolate) in iced coffee. could make me sw***
can someone help me with the ae's.. they are new to me
yes jili you're right... am settling for cherries today, and they're good

(((M9)))!!!! Where have you been?????
That snuck up on me! Nice grid -- not too many weird words.
up to fest. shore sounds lovely, i have not been invited to brother's
i have a friend with a really nice house on LBI (might sound like an oxymoron)
do you need to be invited? i mean, it IS your brother, right?
{{{mom}}} family reunion thingy.
Must go now and get ready for a swim :)
i love that jilli, when it sneaks up. great feeling, yes
why oxymoron? my rbo;s house is in beach haven west
and now i'm getting off so son can be on puter..
okay, was getting worried. Welcome back, hope you had a good time
i had memories of houses close together, kind of small, with questionable decor
bye bye M9
I'll probably be back later to clue if needed.
mom, your son is planning a wedding?
So bye all!
where on lbi?
He will be married next June
beach haven down by the bottom... close to holgate
yes, they are in the planning stages
is this your first? you're excited, i bet.. that is fun
ah yes.
well you have been busy this vacation. i hope to speak with you , see you some day soon.
owl, does he rent it or just keep it for family?
Yes and yes. They are wanting a "no stress" wedding so they are getting married in a park near sunset, then going to Anna Maria Island in Florida and when they come back there will be a party
family lives there all summer
no stress weddings are defintely the best!! people get crazy about them, and i've seen teachers explain they are under a lot of stress cause they're planning their weddings... balls! your wedding should be happy time!
well owl, why not just say you'd like to pop in for a night or two?
I agree with that
because chances are good that her family will already be there. or she will say they just left
TO, I hope you get an invitation from your brother
nothing ventured nothing gained..?
ah... the ro***** spoonbills are here

jellen are you tired of us always asking how things are going?
No...but things are not going well...
Doctor basically told Tim to get his things in order...
oh {{{jellen}}}
i'm so sorry. any idea how long?
Don't know how long...
Jellen, I am so sorry to hear that. (((jellen))
jellen, have you guys contacted the cancer center of america?
oh {{{jellen}}} I am so sorry
I made an initial contact, but didn't follow through with it...
Jellen, I've just logged in - so sorry to hear that
get as much information as you can, and don't give up!
maybe following through now would be a good thing for you
Tim's so weak, don't know if he could make the trip...
brb
just know that we love you jellen, and are thinking of you.
you've been so strong throughout... truly inspiring
{{{{{{jellen}}}}}}}} you must be exhausted.
they are a great reference point, they can help you both get it together so that he can have a chance of fighting off the cancer.
you have support nearby?
Tim's mom and step-dad will be here tomorrow...
Jellen, that is soo sad. Sorry to hear that. My best friend died last June from a brain tumor. I know how hard this can be. My prayers are with you and Tim.
will that be a good thing? or a stressful thing?
Is having Tim's mom and step-dad coming going to be support for you. If I remember, last time it was not so much.
A necessary thing...just talked to her on the phone...
that's good they will be visiting, but you and Tim need to take aggressive action on getting the medical attention he needs. the cancer centers are designed specifically for working with cancer patients and families.
My Tim just got home so I'm going to make some food. My prayers are with you and Tim Jellen.
Thanks, m9

oh i am floating along the currents of life letting it just take me for a ride....( IE translation.....am managing to keep my above water ... just ...but managing to maintain some albeit poor sense of humour )
missing wa 7 and 8
my HEAD* above
i can get a ny er words. duh...............
Know what you mean, carleekat.
need at words please.
any clue for is word? 8?
aloo! just peekin' in...
hi pav
Hey Pav! Nice icon ;) looks like you've kept it for nearly a month - now that is dedication :P
HI NB...I've actually been away...too tired to play, I guess, and then last week my Mac-mini crashed...got the replacement last night and am restoring everything as I had before...
and the photo was for you, NB....
Appreciated ;) did you have a good time away?
didn't go anywhere, just mostly catching up on rest and house chores...work gets in the way, and July-Aug are my busiest, so I usually just come home feed the dogs and crash...
carlee...what's a banafee pie?
NB...how was the bd? and the sketches are yours?
Ahh, the birthday was great, thanks! Got a really scary/surprising gift, but managed to sprain my ankle...and very much enjoyed everyone's icons! Lots of the ladies here threw themselves into the spirit of things ;)
oh... banoffee pie..its a brit concoction... u take a can of sweetened condensed milk..unopenned and boil the crap out of it... until becomes a caramel consistency and u spread that on a cracker crust... then you take double cream with some vanilla and some cut up bananas.... mix it gently and spread on the caramel layer.... top with whipped cream
oh, and the sketches are by my flatmate Frank :)
dble cream... has about twice the milk fat as whipping cream... its not for the faint of heart... but..once in a while is so yummm
(I noticed the sketches last time i was here nb...they are very nice... )
thank you on his behalf, Carlee!
He has a great model!
oh no Pav, I was the worst model ;) kept fidgeting and talking...I needed entertainment!
I'll have to see what I can whip up for the AZ version of that carlee...
May I please have a clue for as6-18? Thanks
a and sw 5 18. what girls did over the beatles.
google recipes....here in canada u can only buy the sweetened condenced milk in a pop top can...which would explode under pressure..so there is a way of taking the gloop..adding butter and brown sugar and bringing it to a gentle simmer
at 6/18, please?
and if u make up whipped cream... ( un sweetened ) and add sour cream and vanilla u can approximate to right consistency for the cream with the bananas
Thanks, mkg, I have that one for the as6-30...just need the as6-18/ Thanks
Boxed chocolate as****ment

Jellen, just read your update, I am so sorry! Anything I tell you will not take away your pain unfortunately.
I will be thinking about you though as you go through this. How long did the doctors say he had left Jellen?I would get 2nd opinion about it being the end though.
Oh, sorry, I wandered away, Min...doc didn't give any time frame...
Halfway, finally!
Once again, I come & kill the chat log;2 days in a row
Don't blame yourself, Min...I rather put a damper on the evening...
