hi locks
ty, btw for posting!
I copy and paste the My Word List into a text file, then use a search and replace.
hi jili
Search: Look Up Word ([a-z]{2})[a-z]+ (\d+) (\d+)
hi aloy
Replace: \01 \02/\03
wel that was an adventure...I left almost 5 hours ago to find new batteries, and then ended up going to the movies with my neighbor...let's see if I can get past the two words I input last round...
That is a regular expression, more flexible than a regular search/replace operation.

hello all! how's the new grid? *hastily entering PAV's "clue"*
hiya Stid!
how are you doing PAV? I only have about another week to be on at this time of day... school starts for me in two weeks. And I have to be up early for the commute, so ... *sigh*
hi stid :)
hey jilleroo! Was just replying to your email (and Bugs' and Pini's)
the performance tonight was lovely. Not quite as energetic as some, I think the kids are a little tired.
oh good -- will look...
is it as hot there as it is here, stid?
it's the budget time so I've been swamped..and it didn't help that my boss went on vaca for th5 weeks
is the PB closed for repairs?
hmph. would be nice to have a vacation that long, wouldn't it? I am glad to not be working on budgets in this economy... *sympathetic shoulder for PAV*
I have 25 left and the brain is shutting down for the night
still working on the replies, Jill! only got home 10 minutes ago!
I have 97 left... LOL
ok, stid -- no hurry
and HRH Princess Precious is alooking for her goodnight hug...so off we go! c y'all mananana
sweet dreams PAV
bye pav!
Magnificent icon, jillil!
hey helensgirl!
This grid is being sullen! Or maybe I should get some sleep.
(maybe both?) I am bouncing between this and the reply to jill and bugs...
Got 50 words - really slow - try again tomorrow. Goodnight all -- good luck all!
thanks helens (sorry, I'd left for a minute)
sweet dreams!
hi, all. I just finished the absolute final edit on my book, and I've submitted it for review. Next is to order the final proof copy and publish it.
well done, angel!
hey Angelson! woo-hoo! *counting future generations of hatching eggs*
I am so pleased! I learned a lot about openoffice writer in the process of wriitng this book, and I am amazed at its power
I've already set it up so that any money generated from book sales goes to my savings account.
good idea, angel!
Well, I have 40 left and have come to the end of gremlin's list so I think I'll head for bed.
Angel, I have a new laptop as well as this old desktop -- would you recommend my getting Openoffice?
well done jill. I sent the email just now.
I am about ready to hit the hay also.
OpenOffice is very nice, Jill -- if you aren't too familiar with Word.
thanks, stid, will look...
I have an ancient Word (97!) and seldom use it. I prefer Publisher.
I find that trying to use both has been confusing and awful, have switched for now to using Word so that documents from school don't get messed up in the import/export process.
I would recommend OpenOffice then Jill -- it's free, very stable, and (I think) more intuitive than the newest version of Word.
I thought Openoffice was supposed to be totally compatible with Word etc.
good morning how many words today please
125 sandra
open office has a few quirks, but it does work amazingly well
hey sandra
thanks. is there a list
OpenOffice generally reads Word documents, but Word does not always like its translations into Word formats.
a list in gremlin's profile. No Lickety.
I think I'll stick to Word then.
Other people send me Word documents and I wouldn't want them messed up.
well, NBT anyway....
you could read them no problem, jill --
Us undone!
wtg stid!
stid, I haven't had anything on my computer other than open office in years
I had so much trouble opening, reading, modifying and printing the newest Word docs in OpenOffice this past year Angelsong -- It wasn't worth my time or aggravation to go against the herd. *sad mama look* so I conformed. *shamed mama look* very unlike me.
I guess it all depends on what you're used to?
I had used OO exclusively for about 10 years before that...
me, too, but never for anything as ambitious as this book, Stid.
I actually greatly dislike the newest version of Word. NOT intuitive, they have a silly "ribbon" they have hidden the functions I need on. After a year using it it's still klugy. BUT compatibility with official documents was essential, and will be for the next year.
After that, if someone wants me to use Word, they can purchase it for me!
I did all 372 pages of my my book, with photos and drawings and diagrams, with MS Publisher. And the cover.
stid, your email hasn't arrived yet.
Publisher is designed for that -- OpenOffice includes a Publisher clone. Suspect it will have similar compatibility issues at times. BUT -- if you are not trying to produce something completely compatible with a Word user's software, then OO functions beautifully.
It was sent out 20 minutes ago. No idea why you don't have it, jill.
a Publisher clone? I didn't see that when I checked the OO website!
you're on the shaw service now, right>?
yes, stid. Maybe they hold things for a bit.
could be. sometimes gmail has been slow this past week also.
It will be there when you wake up. No hurry really.
it's part of OO Writer, jill.
I'll give it a bit more time while I get ready for beddy.
anyway, since it is free, you might check it out.
Good to know, stid!
I am down to 52. Going to try to get some sleep tonight.
Well, that free thing is appealing -- don't have to use it if I don't like it!
(((hugs all))) angelsong, so glad I got to see you. I will be switching to my "one hour a day" schedule soon, and going to sleep at 8 pm so probably won't be seeing you night owls much until next summer.
Well done, stid, and goodnight!

thank you for your patience, m9, now I have 66 and am smiling!
oh good!
I still need 2 7's
no 7's yet, but I'm still happy. That's fromhaving set low goals
it's pouring again, what a cool pleasure!
oh nice. hasn't rained here for a while
good morning everyone
it is perfect here -- several days of sun, then a couple of rain.
the sun is shining here for the first morning in two weeks
hello jacq
but probably not for long
heya ruby
we needed rain as the lawn was brown
do you have roses jacq?
oh we have had rain every day for weeks and weeks, sometimes for days and apparently they are forecasting rain for weeks for scotland
hi jac!
no we only have weeds lol
heya m9
ooh, you'll have to get your vitamin D from a jar!
i don't even have any tomatoes left the rain has been so heavy it damaged them all and the potatoes too
we've had a lot of tomatoes but what's left are getting moldy on the plants
i know ruby, we have had a few lovely evenings but it's been so cool, maybe 12 c max
but many blackberries, not sweet this year, however....I guess because of the cold and rainy May
i can remember not so long ago being able to sit in the garden with a glass of wine in the evenings at this time of year
we had a huge number of tiny figs in April but May wiped them out. There are more, now, but I think this rain will take them away, too
in good years, we have figs in June and in September
my mum said her gooseberries weren't sweet this year either and she had a small crop too
this has been an odd weather year
hardly any snow or real cold, just a long, grey winter
it has been awful this year, after such a terrible winter we all needed a good warm summer, but alas nature has cheated us again
how far north are you, jacq?
really ruby? we had record snowfalls and some places had -20c which was unprecedented, and everywhere you go you can see snow damaged trees and buildings
in June, it stays light until after 11 but where yu are, maybe even later?
i'm in moray right on the north east coast
that's so strange because we're in the foothills of the Alps
we still have light skies but it's been cloudy and grey most of the summer, a few nice days in may and some in june but not a summer at all
I've only been in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but MANY years ago and only once
wow ruby, really? we were up aviemore way and there is still snow on some of the mountains, not much but for years now there has been none
this has been a perfect summer with the best flowers in early June
the deer were actually down beside the harbour here looking for food the snow was so bad
uh oh, mr. rubyfoo is bringing me his laundry.....
lol
i keep seeing theatre
laundry in!
better than movies! lol
i have laundry in and laundry out and hoping those big black clouds will empty somewhere else
that is sad about the deer. We don't have any deer or rabbits or squirrels here, even though we're in the country. I think the French have eaten everything
lol ruby
I don't hang out my wash, too lazy and tired!
there was talk of cancelling the deer cull because the winter was so bad many were starving to death, but th
even the frogs?
no frogs hahah
but they opted to do the cull and kill off the weakest, starvation is a terrible death for anything
that sounds much more humane
in NY state they had to cull the deer every year as the population had no natural enemies (too few bears) and they wouldn't have made it. Dangerous, though, almost everyone I knew there had had a run-in with deer
there was a story at xmas about a lighthouse keeper and his wife, they lived on ther west coast of scotland and just before xmas she went to inverness (largest place for miles and miles) for shopping and xmas dinner and she didn't get home again till well into january because of the snow
I've seen one toad in 12 summers!
that's what she says!!!
wow that can't be good ruby, with no predators insects will thrive
ROFL ruby@!
fortunately, we have a bat cave in the cliff above the house, so no mosquitoes
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
and we have a fish pond
husband thinks his fish are too delicate to eat insects, NOT
LOL
we don't use insecticides because of the dogs and birds so all of our apples and plums get wormy! eeew
ewww
and the birds are so fat from the sunflower seeds, that the worms are too much trouble
wormy isn't as bad as half wormy
double eeew
we have lots of currants, though, and also black currants whicvh I leave for the birds because I don't like them
i had a salad in a fast food place (first time for years i ate in one of those places) the very last forkful had half a beetle in it
I even tried making creme de cassis in the beginning but it was disgusting
oh no!
ewww!
I have 13 left
crunchy salad! you probably thought it was a walnut
my grand-daughters love blackcurrants, their clothes aren't so fond of them however
i was so sick, but the group i was with thought it was worth it because we got our meal for nothing and there were about 8 of us
I made blackberry liqueur one year but it was too strong, even for me
lol
i've never had a fruit liqueur, unless you cound malibu
I've heaqrd stories like that. Do restaurants still do that? You could bring your own insect to a 3-star place.....
what is malibu?
malibu is a coconut and rum liqueur, very sweet and nice mmmmmmmmmmm
12
it was delicious, but since it was sweet, it knocked me right over!
go m9
oooh, that sounds good
if i ever visit france we can meet at the border and i'll smuggle a bottle for you
speaking of which, must make a Campari for Mr. R! see you after lunch! Thanks for all your help m9!!
bye ruby
and I'll find you a bottle of absinthe!
ohhhhhhh

Yes, good stretch of the memory

even one of your favorite Sprite
same for me, Nanette, but that is part of the fun for me. Knowing th5 are many more words, even though I haven't yet spotted them. Feeling that my limits don't have to be my borders, if that makes any sense

Goodmorning all.
hi christine
morning Christine
oooer should be acceptable.
wooer is :)
yes, got that one.
gust, please dont put the exact word in the chat log, the fun of this game is finding the words, not having them given to us
But know, if you do, you will be banished to the PB (penalty box) where we will feed you choclit and cheese
lol, perfect!
and paella, cake, and wine
i just joined yesterday
don't forget the hot tub staffed by cabana boys
and why is it that when ever I get banished to the pb I'm lucky to find coffee and a few crumbs :)
welcome to babble, gust
You mean perfit (Darling Buds of May)
hahahaha
welcome, gust
hi dcs
dc, hello, it's been ages
well thank you
hi, ardilla, nono, christine, et al
OMGos - how could I fergit the cabana boys.
yes, i've been scant at this hour in recent weeks (months?)
Fremlins meant to say OMGosh.
the cat and the rabbit are both acting possessed
at least they're having fun
my cat has returned to bed already this morning
mine was out of food (gasp!) and so is more active than usual -- she just ate
huh. it's cloud/rainy again. had a lot of that lately. rather unusual for Summer.
Lord forbid Missy should ever run out of food. I would not be able to think straight with all her caterwaling if she did
yes, Feldspar was WAY chatty. Still made her wait a few while i got myself together.
what a pretty kitty Feldspar is! She reminds me of my Kittles who I had to have put down last year
i find it odd that she doesn't chew through the bag. she only tries to chew through it if it's not open.
thank you, and i'm sorry for your loss, Nono
isn't that strange...... my cat is the same way
ty dc it was tough to say goodby to her
Phantom trash.
???
hey, could i get some help with te 7/28 please?
good morning dan2bit...
Not sure if Kaplan is identifying a phantom or giving the most succinct review of 'Love Never Dies' ever written.
te7 extend the te4 what you produce when you cry
lol I was wondering
FIREWORKS !
congrats, Nono
nono, i have te 4 but cant figure it out
me either! morning all!
LOL NB
morning
crying more leaves you te7
more weepy?
got it...ty...wasn't extending enough...duh!
just for a moment.. sometimes I wish I lived in the land of babble players. Everyone is so polite and nice here, unlike some people in Phoenix, AZ
Hi Christa, thats why I spend my mornings here
that's very true, Christa! It's a nice diversion from the rudeness that's rampant around us...
well.. I can be rude sometimes..
were you on when that rude young man was on?
no.. when was that?
can't remember, but I'm going to say early in the week, afternoon. He was really rude, and was reported to Dr. god...
oh.. I don't pay much attention to that..just usually a maladjusted teenager
he was 23...old enough to know better. punkin' head!
Hi, all...just popping in for a minute before I have to get moving...
what's up today jellen?
Church, then memorial service later...
long day..
hopefully some good friends will be with you jellen
Yes, there will be...
good..
will his family be back?
No...
have they been supportive jellen?
Yes...just got a phone call from one of Tim's former coworkers...
that's good.. sometimes it can go differently.
I'd better run now...just thought I'd get a dose of support from my Babble family...
God bless, Sweetie.
you have strength today.. and take care of yourself
I'll be back on this afternoon...((hugs)) to all!
take care jellen
Hello all!
Hi and bye, Scrabbler!
hi!
gm ms hiker
Yep, Hiker Chick!
Time for a cuppa - see y'all later.
I went mountain biking Friday + yesterday. As of this morning I have lost15 lbs!
nic e scrabs..
I'm starting a diet in Sept.
Awesome!!! What are you doing?
no sugar, no carbs, no wine, for one month.. then moderate intake the following month,, and then in November back to september's plan
gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...send your wine to me please! ;)
How many words today, please?
I am following my best-selling book: Eat Less + Move Your Ass.
125
Thanks ruru
I move my ass alright, but I move too many calories in
Sadly, that's what you gotta do Scrabs! But it works, and good for you!!!
yw rain.. good morning by the way
I am watching carbs, and doing more intense exercise, including weights.
hi rain
I have played 16 sets of tennis this week
three more today
Getting back to weights this week. I have a hard time taking that as seriously as cardio, which is wrong, of course!
Tennis is so popular...doubt I have the coordination ruru1
it is soooooo fun though
Wow, Ruru. Good for you. My tennis burn-out persists. I lost interest last winter.
unless i could find an indoor court, forget it! 98 and a billion percent humidity here...
ooooooh
Doing weight-work really helps wt loss--gets muscles burning calories mor than cardio.
I hate humidity
never come visit me between May and mid-October :)
High humidity is so oppressive.
Maybe I'll train with weights in addition to the diet scrabs
we don't have humidity here
can't hurt, and then you can kick people's arses! ;)
Hi ruru, scrabs, et al
hi!
The quality of our doubles tennis sucked last winter so I lost my passion. I also focused on snowshoeing + cross-country skiing, then hiking in spring.
gm bichon hi
Men can lose weight quickly with weight training, because men have more muscle mass.
snow...that must be the white stuff I see on tv...
Hi Bichon
I am playing some heavyweight players today.
You are my inspiration Scrabs <ggg>
I am into stroller pushing these two weeks
Stay alert + ready, Ru, and keep the ball in play.
stroller pushing is a workout!
right.. and 110 mile an hour serves too coming at me
Champ, I live in ski country, southeast of Buffalo. There is a ski resort across the valley from me.
Are you in the Bay Area now, Bichon?
yes, especially in the Bay Area. But, that's how I ended up with bursitis in my hip
Buffalo is freezing cold in the winter.
where in the bay area bichon?
You're far north of me...I'm in Houston, TX
It sure is. I cross-country skied in 8 degrees F last winter.
San Mateo, south of the airport
oh.. I grew up in Burlingame
we had the coldest winter in a very long time this year. didn't have to break out the short sleeved shirts at all...it was great!
Nex town up the peninsula. I love the weather here. No humidity
yes.. moderate weather there
aaaaahhhh...very jealous! it's so sticky and gross here. i exercise at the crack of dawn, like a vampire
I come out here to visit the g'kids about 5 times a year
oh...
been to Draegers?
Draegers?
I have never been to TX or CA.
high end gourmet grocery store on 4th ave
au7: to create an atmosphere?
Hi Hurshy!
you'd love Cal scrabs.. mrs ru went to Buffalo for school and moved here from there
i clicked on the definition.
hi
She went to school here? Univ of Buffalo?
yes
1. golden or gilded. 2. brilliant, splendid. 3. characterized by an ornate style of writing or speaking.
and seriously? can we start using that word?
ra6: something you rubbed out, but with no E
So did I, for undergrad + med school. I got my BA in 1981. When was she here? Where did she grow up?
Long Island
Lots of LI + NYC kids come to UB.
I'll bet that you are one hell of a doctor scrabs
Draegers, now I know that place. Competes with Whole Foods
yeah.. all to escape their jewish parents
I try to be the kind of doctor that I would want--easy-going, kind, and educational.
su6: add a cheerleader's cheer
UB is one of the State Univ of NY's 4 major hubs--Buffalo, Albany, Binghamton + Stony Brook.
she lived on a farm in Stony Brook
And I am a detective--looking for clues, very OCD, very conscientious.
or a farm house..
lol
eieio
..and Bingo was his name-OOOOO
not in the grid...
i want to live on a farm...
okay.. I am off to get my ass kicked in tennis..have a great day all.
My parents made me go to Queens Colle and live at home :-(
have fun!
getting the donkeys on the tennis courts is a work out in itself
Bye, Ru! Have fun!
bichon! QC!!! I was class of 86!
I live in farm country so I take care of many farming families. I ask them about their work and learn so much.
Is QC in Queens, NY?
yah flushing :)
love that name
hi everyone - hi bichon, I lived in Queens, went to Hunter
That's what I figured.
my mom went to hunter
Hi JBV!
hi scrabbler!
50%
scrabs, I was thinking of you - found a great website for learning Italian (not sure what your level is) - live mocha.com - you can read, write, speak and native speakers will give you feedback
it's free for the basic membership - only pay if you want more (I'm doing the free one)
clues for the o words?
and for anyone else who wants some language lessons - spanish, french, etc. - check it out
oa5/10, both of them...start with the grain
I will bookmark that, JBV. I bookmarked the other site you mentioned recently. word2word?
ok4 x 2 - one is a leafy green, the other is like saying "all right"
no, wordreference.com - it's an online translation dictionary and also has language forums
ty.
it's my lifeline, right now, I'm doing a lot of translating -
Harry where did you live in Queens?
grew up in kew gardens hills, then came back for college and after college lived in forest hills for a bit
ty got them.
didn't particularly care for any of it
TY, Dan
I have great memories but mine are from the 50s, 60s, 70s - after that I was in DC and NJ
lived in nj for 14 years - exit 9
clue for the 9 plz?
me too! East Brunswick
see how small the babble world is
highland park :)

heh
yesterday i was online and all of us were plantar faciitis suffers!
I saw that, Champ, that was weird
my garden was technically in east brunswick
fortunately, I'm not in that club
the community garden?
have to say, so far the steriod pack is my best bud...much better today! onward!
I have suffered from plantar fasciitis a few times--very frustrating.
yeah - it's now paved over for the rutgers equine program :(
first time for me scrabs...usually am very careful...but it snuck up on me anyway!
Champ--stretch a lot--from back down to foot, so that nothing is tight; use heel lifts
I got it from tennis---pushing off.
ty! got the 8 and 9.
have been...my kids laugh because I'll stop in a store and do it...LOVE embarassing them!
52 left...i think it's time to list
later...kid needs to computer
Champ, you can also massage your arch on a dowel.
Bye HH
Hi All - is lickety away at the moment?
my arch never bugs me! I have a neuromuscular massage therapist who's very helpful too...
Hi Kazzer. I think so, as there have not been lists.
hello everybody
JBV, I was reading www.linguasiciliana.org too.
hi scrabbler and champ and kazzer and harry
Hi Ruby
hey ruby! how's the hubby?
I had plantar fasciitis from an unstreched achilles tendon. put toes on step. slowly drop heels and hold (no bounce). Continue until it hurts then stop. work up to three minutes three times a day.( took me three months).
it's a cruddy thing, for sure
one sec, harry, I just read over the chog. I was born at Kew Gardens Hospital, went to Queens College and my sister lives in Forest Hills!!!
Yep, my episodes of p.f. took several months to resolve.
champ, he is healing, I think, but feels discouraged and depressed
Poor guy! Is he finished with the shots and whatnot?
It's a nuisance, Champ, and then suddenly, one day, you realize it is gone. I know an orthopedist, a foot + ankle specialist, that hates p.f.--so frustrating for him + patients.
you will feel it stretch at the top of the calf.
HI, has anyone posted a word list
hi mixi and jbv and bubba
yes scrabs...i intend to be a good girl, follow all directions, and get over it.
gremlinn has posted list
Thanks
I kept playing tennis--would take my arch before matches.
need u clues please. have ur 5 12 but need others please.
scrabs, just read back, saw your post, will bookmark that - I was reading bestofsicily.com - great site
he refused the last course of shots as the dog is healthy and, happily, still in dog jail
Hello all. I was just talking to my Mother (who is 93) as i try to do each s
is she stidgmamie?
I will check that too, JBV. Sicilian is a challenging language to learn.
Hi stidgmere--wow, 93--is she happy + comfortable?
For plantar fasciitis, I usually recommend, 1. Stretching, elevation of the heels, rolling the arch with an ice soda can, If that is not enough, then NSAID's, psoible injections, definately strapping of the foot. Then if not enough orthotics. The literature is pretty clear that 90-95 of people are better with conservative care in 6 monhts. There is also extracorpeal shock wave therapy and surgery for resistant cases.
Yay for the orthpod Bubba!!
Hi All! Including Bubba...
Ice soda can is great idea.
Champ, I find the use of Smartwool socks very soothing. They have various styles and the ones with the most foot padding are best. We all have our little hints.
hello red!
Hi Red--how was your night in the ED?
TY, Bubba, for your input.
It was very irritating. I had to take care of an inmate and the guard would not leave anyone alone.. he irritated everyone.
But it was for your safety, right, Red?
No, my mother, rubyfoo would be stidgranny if she were on babble, but she is not able to do such games anymore.
I hope it helps, PF ios a pain in the foot, so to speak
I also found k-swiss shoes easiest on the foot.
see you later, must stir dinner
bye
Bye Ruby
Bubba, I have been running pain free with those Tuli's heel cups. I seem to have to keep using them, will it eventually cause me a problem? I prefer the heel cups to not running.
in France they call grandmothers mamie! it's very cute
I have several friends who are "Mimi"
*poof*
Italian grannies in America are often called Nonnie.
we go to a resto in the village where they are both named Michel (and Michelle) and everybody calls them mimi
My friend's first grandson named her Mimi, and that has stuck with 3 grandkids now.
has lickety given up?
If the heel cups work, use them. They shouldn't cause any problems. I find that most of the effect is that they raise the heel in the running shoes.
Yes, Scrabbler, mother is quite happy. My husband just visited her last week for a couple of days. She enjoys the spa at the care center and has the best of care.
Probably away, dp
No it was not for my safety, Scrabbler, the guard was chatting with me, or anyone else who would listen to him. Prisoner was ill, and would not have hurt me in a million years, plus he was shackled head to toe.
Aging is quite challenging.
anyone know any good exercises for sciatica? damn pain runs right up my leg and across my butt, lately after 15 min of driving it gets so bad i have to stop and stretch before carrying on;(
Hi Crossy
scrabbs!
Oooh crossy...my massage therapist took that on, and after several visits it was better.
I have had 3 episodes of that, Crossy. Neuralgia is wicked bad pain!!!
yes, I had a problem with the back of the shoe rubbing at the spot where my achilles had "frayed out" much better now.
Hyperextend lower back.
it gets so bad i can hardly use the acelerator
two strings walk into a bar...
fraid not
I remember, Crossy.
lol
woo hoo passed 100 - is there a list about?
I wear Merrill shoes that have no back. They are most comfy. High heels are too much of a fashion statement for this dame de certain age.
Go Dan! I read that Gremlinn has a list.
I like those shoes stidg, they are just not very good for running...
Oh, Champ and Crossy I am not sure this Babbler can take many more jokes like that.
at the flip this morn,i watched chugga do the grid in 13 minutes!!!!
Oh, my, it is noon and I am still a slug on the couch.
ty Scrabbs - indeed gremlinn does
not to worry today is slug day
Really, Crossy? With no list?
it's Ok scrabbs, I am having trouble walking after my quarry run yesterday...
Yep, it is a dark, gloomy, rainy day.
not that i know of scrabbs just the odd chog clue
even beat gremlinn to the finish
sunshine here, but legs killing me.
Scrabbs, they offerred me a days position at work, and I can't decide now.
I am wiped out from mountain biking over the last 2 days.
31 left, bbl...going to put on a pot of spaghetti sauce...*poof*
Less money but better hours--tough decision.
the moeny at night is good and the nurses on days are a little wee bit bitchy.
wow!! the humidex has it feeling over 38c out there today.thank god it is my day off and i am inside with my fans;)
Bitchy co-workers = nightmare. I lived that for 12 yrs!
It is healthier also to work days in general, but we shall see, I am enjoying saving this pile of cash...
Wonderful Red.
better lifestyle and better workmates in exchange for a tad less cash=good deal in my books
But Red gets more money for working night shift
money does not make up for a pain in the ass workplace
as you know scrabbs
life is too short to work with/for idiots
Why is it some workplaces are hell on earth and others are such interesting, rewarding places?
i used to make over 60k doing courrier work in toronto for northern telecom..was loaded but miserable..came up here in 89,i make much less than that, but can bike,swim,kayak,ski..it is far better
I did learn that. Check out the book, The No A**hole Rule by Bob_____. I read the book, e-mailed with him, and knew I had to escape from the toxicity of the narcissistic boss + his 3 poisonous aides.
and not having to dodge bullets and drug deals is an added bonus;)
How awful Crossy!
if you have a job you love, one that gets you out of bed raring to go,one you would do for free if it came to it,then it does not matter if you live in a shack;)
as long as your warm in the winter, have food on the plate, and clothes on the back and health
That wisdom is something we have learned from experience. Young people need time to learn.
indeed, the chasing after the brass ring is no godd, one finds it tarnishes easily
good
well the odd thing is that the money is better and the people are generally better at night, I just know that days may be better for my health and running in the long run...
I need to calculate it out how much...
before my bouts with the big C,i used to be a type A tightly wound asshole that made lots of buck, drank lots of starbucks and was in step to get my 401 k and my first heart attack on the same day;/
whatever makes you happy and healthy red
Often a life crisis put things into better perspective.
it does indeed
crosshair - look up McKenzie exercises for your sciatica. I just got over a wicked 3 month episode. I worked with spine physical therapy and these exercises are what were life saving for me!
because of the big c,i learned it ten years sooner that i would of otherwise;)
ty peggy i will def look it up
mm.so the cause is my 3 old herniated disks in my neck...mmm
If pain is in your butt + back of thigh you probably have a herniation of lumbar disc(s)
damn machinery is falling apart lol
Just want to see what I've done to my icon. When stidmama comes over she will fix it. Hope I don't have the huge picture that will slog the chog.
so it would not be from the 3 i know of in my neck scrabbs?
looks good stidmere...
slogging the chog..i like that
Okay. Same one, at least it isn't too big. Talk about being a slow learner.
Well, I shall go look at the blue berries and such. Hope your day goes well.
Bye, Stidg
Crossy, sciatica is caused by lumbar disk herniation
so,hyperextension,by doing and holding a half push up for a minute or so at a time...
and doing half a indian sit and bending over affected leg...that sort of thing
cause i am damned tired of popping pills for everything
Hyperextension of lumbar vertebrae allows herniated portion of disk to no longer push on nerve root.
but the heria is still there of course,so the exercise should be a regular part of the lifestyle?
like the ones in my neck i know are still there if i twist or turn my head wrong, but ill not be cut open and stand a 50% chance of needing 2 canes after
i have seen to many people come out of those operations crippled for life
lol, sorry chog,me and my bulging disks are stealing the chog;))
and besides my foot only turns in when i am tired or have walked a lot in the day..not like those poor buggers after some operations
Nope, I cam switching back + forth with another word game.
lol,enough about crossy;)
Always try conservative medical treatment if you can.
i agree scrabbs
I have had 3 episodes of herniated disks--with time I healed.
my neck ones eased over 4 years, but they let me know they are there from time to time, was bad pulling in the arms and shoulders at first
stopping in for a clue - any help with the F - I have 9
mm,i only have 5,so no help here i am afraid;(
and scrabs, I have the same history with herniated disks, no problems now for about 20 years, but I'd say remember the basic lifestyle advice - of sitting, standing, walking, bending and picking up things always with your back in mind
I have f4 x 4
have those
Yes, so tr4, JBV. I often get twinges of sciatica down my left thigh and fe4 a relapse.
and a f6 /27
i dread the day my neck disk come back full force
I just found fe4 (gala) + pl, and fe4 (cheese)
TY, Crossy. I have 9/11 F's now
that gives me 5 f4,s and the f6
thanks, had all those f's, tho - still looking for 2 more
don't forget the swampy wetlands
2 fe5's
im looking for you jbv..and me;)
mm ,need both of those...
oh mixi can you clue the 5?
fe5,18 thinking
got it!
fe + united arab republic
44 to go and I need lunch!
au7? help!
and fe + United States
TY for fe5. I had tried that with e in the last vowel place.
F is grey! Yippee!
au 7 - golden
nm
re7?
nm fireworks.
congrats, mixi
can you please clue the re 7?
to wake up again
ty
(((hello friends!)))
stiddles;)))
hey stiddy
hello all

howdy peri;)
hello.
Does anyone know if there's a list up anywhere today?
hello maerae
gremlinn has a list in his profile
gremlinn has one
Thanks a lot.
i'm new here.
welcome aboard
thank you.
there is a "help" button above the chat that helps explains the basic rules, maerae
oops. said hello and then wandered off. typical. *sigh* hello again! and welcome maerae
i have been lurking for a while, getting to know the game. and some of the regulars.
and at this time we must warn you that babble may be addictive
why are we talking about herniated disks? *rubs back from gardening this morning*
cause my sciatica is being a pain today
it is addictive, lol!
welcome maerae, great game but can be addictive, veery nice people playing
standard disclamer, crossy. very smart.
oh, I am sorry to hear that. I have had sciatic pain off and on, and it's no fun. *offers ice pack*
you seem to be a tight knit group. that's nice.
yup,warn them right out front;)
peri, how's your cat doing?
babble is unique in many respects maerae
she is doing better stiddy, ty for asking
I am keeping her upstaris with me with 2 litterboxes
*places BIG warning sign on Babble header: "Babble is like Tribbles"*
Hello...
I am glad she is doing better.
Hey Jellen!
i am many things, but crossy is not a tribble...
((jellen))
hi there Jellen, did you have the memorial service today?
tribbles are for kids?
what are tribbles?
Made it through church with a minimum of tears...
well..i am furry...
ty stid
*sigh* *points to "like" in statement* really, cross, DO pay attention! I was using a simile!!!
The memorial service is this evening...
oh Jellen, I am glad you went.
{{jellen}}
oh, ok, Jellen
wish we could be there with you jellen
Will keep you in my heart this evening, too.
I was late, but I was there, lol...
ditto what sitd said
yes but as it is just in spirit
stid even
39 left here
tribbles were cute, fuzzy, highly prolific alien life forms that infested the Starship Enterprise in the original Star Trek TV show... "The Trouble with Tribbles"
wo5 is my first word...
ok, never saw that, stid
who you calling an infester
hello maerae and welcome. Who's an addict?
my beard looks a bit like a tribble....
oh golly, Jellen! I only just found that one and down to 50!
Classic Star Trek episode!
not me,i have quit many times;)
it's ORANGE, cross??? *mind boggles*
not me, ruby, I can stop playing at any time, I just chose not to
hey ruby.
lol,no,not orange

I believe there's some in the PB, ruby!
never had ok** - what does it taste like
Yes, it seems to thrive in the hotter climate.
oh no, sorry folks, slinking away.....
brb...
no stats on yuku
It is a pod full of seeds. Prepared many different ways. In gumbo it picks up a slightly sliminess to it. Fried, it doesn't seem to get that. Really sort of a bland flavor all on its own.
got 51 words left to find and no lickety :(
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=51181

www.lexulous.com but this is better!
ruby...do you play via fb?
they've just changed to a new and extremely annoying format
oh
yes, pini
i have a new one for you all! but be warned,it is a blood sucking time vampire made just for babblers!
where exactly is the island located, guernsey?
http://www.eastoftheweb.com/games/Eigh t1.html
but it's really slow
mine timed out, crossy :(
thanks crossy
I like it better on its own website (except for the garishness of the new format)
I think I have to start all over :(
poor pini:(
south of England, about thirty miles from Normandy/Brittany
it's ok, I'll live...
i got to level 19
aren't you close to Saint Malo by ferry?
I'm working on my little project right now (for next saturday)...need some tile point value asst...
I made it to level 23...then fell asleep.
yes, ruby. i came over on the ferry yesterday, and if i'd stayed on another hour or so i would have ended up in St Malo
too funny!
what are the tile points for the letters B C D G J L M and V?
scrabble points?
babble points
we should all get together one day, it would be a blast!
I'm going all blurry, so will say good night and {{everybody}}

always up Pini - but work/rest
crossy does his bacon happy dance... http://www.darkharbor.com/snoopydance/

kitty
I lost one of mine who was 16, I still have the older one. She's 20
he's very much an outdoor cat - often stays out at night, except cold winter nights - lots of places here for him to sleep
wow. just checked chuckie out as i was petting him,.,.,.,. he is only 8 years old and he has more grey hairs than i do-lol
wow, didn't realize they would live that long s'smom
sprru. bj
bh
lol, hand in wrong position - often happens with right hand
cats can live to 30
wow, he could outlive me!
my friends cat just died last year.. he was 22
it's very hard to lose an animal, no matter how long you've had them. They're family, your kids.
yes, for sure bh, it was a very sad time when we had to have our dog put to sleep, she was 13 and had been with us since we moved here
yup.. when sammy got hit by a car.. our choices were to have him put down or bit the bullet and spend from 1 to 3 grand to have him repaired..... that was 4 years ago and he has almost no limp now and i am still paying in the loan
wow s'smom, that's love indeed
back again...and hello s'mom and flosey!
i hate it when people HAVE to have animals . until they have a problem..... then it's "off with their heads"........... like kids they are a commitment
hey jellen ((((((JELLEN))))))
George Henry Bunn was 7 - not bad for a bunny
Hi, dofith...
Pets are a commitment...
hi Jellen
'morning, all.
love that name dof
dofith, or George henry Bunn?
Don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my cats with me now...
His little friend was Matthew William
ah yes, they can be such comfort, Jellen
Problem with bunnies is everyone keeps sharing recipes - then wonder why I'm not laughing!
I could never eat a bunny...
nor could I
ditto Jellen
We did when I was young, but it would choke me now.
If I was better organized about my nutrition, I'd be a vegetarian...
nor me jellen, years ago my mother in law served it knowing how i feld, thinksing she was being cute..... i refused to eat the poor thing and had the salad and veggies..... SHE fas offended..... go fuigure!!
Third Important Lesson - "Remember Those Who Serve" In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "50¢," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "35¢!" she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip...thought for the day
We don't have native bunnies - they were introduced here as a food source for the arly settlers, then because they have no predators here, they thrived and became a guge problem for farmers
back
Sorry for typos..
very sweet story, crossy
Good story, crossy
I've been veg for 18 years...if I were more concerned about my nutrition, I'd be vegan.
sweet story,crossy
but I can't fathom doing w/o ice cream and pizza

ra + you su** are sweet flosey
well thankyou peri
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?". Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

brb, too...need to put clean clothes where cats won't lie on them...
I know what you mean Jellen
Katie, My typing is so bad I read right through typos most of the time.
thanks wht, that's the sort of reader I need for my typing
Is there a list somewhere?
no that I know of, I'm stuck with 44 to go
I think gremlinn posted a list in his profile
Thanks Jellen.
thanks Jellen, clothes safe from the kitties?
Yes...stacked, not folded, but high enough they won't jump on them...
list in my profile
there is nothing our kitties love more than a pile of clothes. they aren't fussy; dirty, clean, wet or ironed it's all the same to them. we have all colours of cats so it doesn't matter what it is there are hairs on it.
thanks une
lol, Katie
yw -- now back to watching men's final in Toronto ;-)
I have one of those sticky rollers in my car as I get to half way to work when I realise how much I still have on my suit
I bought a three-pack of those things yesterday...couldn't remember where I left the one I had...
Have fun, Une
I've got hundreds round the house as we always lose them

Hooray for wht!!!!
Yay wht !!
hi jellen how are you today?
Hi, west...I just have the au7/32
thanks jellen
I'm okay...waiting for the memorial service at 6:30...
re7/60 te7/28 th7/32
my thoughts and prayers will go with you
have you picked out some music?
my thoughts are with you, Jellen
I let the minister choose...I think one hymn will be Where There is Love (think that's it)
that's beautiful
Hang in there Jellen. And make sure you have plenty of tissues.
They are in my purse, wht!
we'll be thinking of you it's going to be hard to bear but you'll find joy in how much Tim was loved
Never leave home without them.
I promised the girls lobster before they leave so I'm going to pick them up now
See you later, west...
hugs jellen
Have to go get something ready for dinner. Happy Babbling all.
Bye, wht
Now, time for my book...bbl
*!* ta da *!*
bye jellen
anyone want clues before I leave?
re 7?
got it
but I'll take the th 7 clue :)
th5/12 + preposition
sweet pup, jeff ;-)
ok, well -- BBL
good evening everyone, though I suspect I am speaking into a void here...
{{NB!}} - haven't seen you for a while
are you counting down your days?
JBV! Good to see you :) I am trying not to count the days, actually - getting VERY jittery, very nervous...feel like calling the whole thing off!
days to what?
now, now - don't talk yourself out of it -
going to Korea?
That's right, Ruru - I leave on the 20th!
no NB you have to go
Trying not to, JBV! I will have to be gagged, bound and dragged onto the plane at this rate...
are you flying S & M airlines?
I understand, NB, but here's my unasked for advice - don't dwell on what could go wrong, just focus on positive outcomes and plan ahead as much as you can
te7 pls
more weepy
is that th 7 started with the th number word?
LOL Ruru...I didn't say I'd enjoy being gagged and bound ;)
ty JBV
Just because advice is unasked for, JBV, does not mean I do not need and appreciate it ;) thank you..
Morning all
do they do spanking in coach or is that only business class?
Jeff - no but is is a compound
ha 6/24 ? anyone?
I think in coach the most I can expect is a light slapping and a halfhearted tug on my nipple ring.
te7 = cry (t4) + ti4(layer minus the t)
ouch
It is like the movie Baron Von Muncha****
thank you lynxxx
and don't forget Babble is only a click away - will you have access to a computer?
hello
hi doren
hi Dorens. What big eyes!
Hello...this has been the longest afternoon...
Oh, I am under strict instructions to keep all my friends updated by email - so I may be able to stop in, at least for the first few days. After Seoul though, I need to travel down to an island off the coast in the South, where it all gets a little..rustic...;)
i am the clumsiest babbler, i think. broke foot and sprained ankle last summer.... fell off bike yesterday and had to go to the hospital for stitches
oh, Jellen. is the service this evening?
hi jellen.. how did it go?
yikes! sorry to hear that doren - stitches where? on the foot again?
hi Jellen, what's happening
hi, jellen
Church went fine...memorial is in about 2 hours...
elbow... and a huge lump (joint effusion). not nice place to try to heal
ah, wish we could go jell
we will all be with you in sprit, Jellen
((Dorens))
With you in spirit Jellen.
Ouch Dorens
spirit even
yah, in spirit is the best we can do
I've just been sitting most of the afternoon, trying not to ruin makeup, waiting for 6:30...
Did chat with my ex-husband on facebook...
god bless you, Jellen. we are all thinking of you...:(
makeup? you are brave indeed
Probably need to redo it...
hello everyone!
so i was down at the shore at my friend's beach house... not a nice way to end a vacation
hi OG
hello hotspur
are we still on for Lunch dorens?
absolutely ru. i just won't be biking there
I made reservations today for 3-4 people for outside on the patio overlooking the Napa River
how lovely. will mrs ru be there? dylan?
Sounds pretty, Ruru
it's really a nice location and very pleasant to hang out and chat at.
Hi, OG
i checked the website and i love it already. not sure if my daughter is coming with me... but I'll know sometime that week and will let you know
Dylan if it isn't too hot out will come.. Mrs. Ru has a grade school friend coming out to stay with us and visit.
NB when do you go to Korea?
and they do or don't want to join the silly word nerds?
probably not.. they will hang out around the pool and get caught up on everything. It's her best friend from school
he5/20 pls
<<--- never thought of myself as a word nerd
okeydoke. too bad. I met Pam last week too.. she is jealous
someone who cuts down
a tree chopper peri
Pam's is always welcome here... tell her to come..we can go meet Thomas Keller.
sheesh, ty
whos is Thomas Keller?
a famous chef peri
how does everyone know where to find the 2-letter list?
she isn't really jealous, more like... oh wow. My son David might like to meet THomas Keller, his ambition is to eat at one of his restaurants some day, but he is not yet ready, i think
I want to come too!
how's 12:30 for you dorens?
Uneaixoise has a list on her profile - Look at Who's Online
does she always?
tell your daughter to come it is a lovely place and very casual.. lots of shopping nearby
No.
usually une or gremlinn if lickety isn't up
just fine... i have nothing else on the books.--and she would probably be happy to join us, but she is independent soul and i can't say yes until i've asked her
ty lynxxx
bb in a bit
I see, GE, ty
au7/32 pls
au & again prefix & consumed
im back:)) seem,s we have been issued a severe thunderstorm and tornado advisory watch
thank you
run for cover crossy!
lol
a tornado will only take me out the second i finally win the lottery and at no other time
we, on the other hand, are having the most beautiful day. mid 80s and low humidity.
finally opened the windows after weeks of AC. ahhhh
and we are having a nice rainy day... great timing
fireworks for me! thanks for all the help.
here the sky is going green and humidity is about 120% lol
yay big red
Congrats Big Red!
yaa for big red
thanks all, and Dorens send some rain my way pls. we need it bad here
ooh. frizzy hair day cross?
so did we... i'm in nj, don't know which direction to send it
i think i shall have a lot of it in the next hour or so big red,ill send some ove
o
i'll take it
no,so humid it is hanging in clumps...no hair styles today
i tend to wear my hair ceaser style short on side and bristly on top,but wife is suffering with her long hair
it's been over 100 almost every day for a few weeks now. today is a cool 97
97..good lord...
it is decidedly cooler than what we've been having. the heat index makes the 100 feels higher.
well had to convert there, but we are at 102 with the hmidex
I can't stand humidity - can take any kind of heat but not humidity!
Late yay for big red!!!
thanks jellen. good to see you. how are you?
I'm okay...
Just popping in before I run some errands and go to the memorial service...
my thoughts and prayers are with you and Tim's family.
Thank you...
Clue for the re7, please?
re + rip paper
re + aw 5
My thots are with you too at this time Jellen. I hope you can find some healing in the service. Blessings to all who loved Tim
oh sorry jellen
Hear hear, Bugs..
Thank you Bugsaw
aw5 clue? :-)
what you did this morning, jell
nm, duh!
Thanks, Dorens....not fully there...
you're just fine, jellen
Okay, taking off for now...Back this evening sometime...
we're with you jellen (in spirit)
Blessings go with you
Bye Jellen (hugs)
acck! humidex has popped it to 103f;((
all my prayer for you (((jellen)))
how is that calculated, Crossy? On the BBC website it's all given in percent..
i am using the local internet weather system www.theweathernetwork.com
you just type in the city or town and yer all set
wild you can see the humidity cycle up and down as this erratic weather front begins to move in
great...thank you! I'm trying to figure out how disgusting and horrible it will be in Seoul ;)
np:) wild be a humid mess this time of year im sure
ah yes...it is the early hours of the morning there at the moment. 25C at night, 89% humidity!
oh...but according to that website, it is 25C, but feels like 36. Mmm, that's a comfortable night...
Nancy, i've missed what's going on with your trip. are you going home to reconcile with your family??
89%!!!
Kind of, Good. The family I've fallen out with (namely, my parents) live here in England, but they won't talk to me. I'm going to Korea because my parents told the rest of my family that I'm dead - so, I'm gonna go prove otherwise!
Oh and Crossy...to make matters worse...you cannot run electric fans at night there!
they had your relatives in korea thinking you were dead??? not good at all!
oh wow.. nancy.. they actually SAID that?
oh my!! well good luck on your resurrection!
howdy, all
howdy pam
hi pam :)
oh yes...it will certainly be interesting. Thank you, Good :) I'm not going to tell them I'm gay right away. I'm gonna have one or two days just to enjoy them first!
hi everyone
hi, good, cross, nancy, and natasha
don't you think the nipple rings will give it away nancy?
i so hope it goes well for you
Hey Pam, Natasha :)
LOL, ruru
hey pam
you are always so discreet ruru. that's what we like about you.
<--- that's me.. mr. discretion
and natasha
LOL Ruru...well whilst I was planning to greet my family by flashing my nipples, I see I shall have to opt for a bow and hug instead.
hi, doresn!
thank you, Good :) I am very nervous, so appreciative of the support!
long ago, my friends became/were my family
here too pam
the blood relatives never earned their place, for the most part
We are sympatico, ru!
Ru--Keller was in Cambridge on Friday
My boss talked to him for a bit
couldn't wait to come back and tell me, LOL
oh.. really? doing what?
Tell me about it, Pam. My friends were the ones who bought me this trip - for my birthday.
Taking a niece on college tours
oh..
oh cool pam
on his facebook page he talked of lunch at the CIA so he was in NY, too
with Laura?
One of these moons, per se
Boss didn't say
it was cool, Dor!
My worship is very well documented at work
frighteningly so
david shares that
I'll have to mail you some French Laundry clothes pins pam for your shrine
is there any place to get a list? justg got home from vacation and need to get some help to get this done tonight thanks
David likes him, and likes selling the books
COOL, ruru!
LOL
Keller is the only chef/author on my wall
I would consider Bourdain, Marco Pierre White, and Adria... but don't have postcards
A friend of mine dined there last night.
(david my son, pam -- he also idolizes him)
Keller I didn't print--it's a promo post card and no one dare touch it, ROFL
Oh, sorry Dor, LOL!
Your friends all have good taste, ruru, I am sure
no prob
I am an A16 nut, too
one of these days, I am going to the other coast
there are lots of newbies to try pam..
wish you could come over when we go next week pam-- there is an extra bedroom
Benu, Beretta, Nopa, Cafe des Amis,
yes Pam.. we're having lunch at Angele
oh, if i only could, Dor!
Nopa is on my list, too
when I go, i'll need a whole new list, LOL
Nopa is really good
(i told ru you were jealous, pam. but i know that isn't really the right word)
and Frances is super too Pam
LOL... not so much jealous... but i can't think of the right word
I have heard good things about Frances
But my eyes are more local
good chef there too
in oct might be in ny again.... perhaps per se? don' tknow
local or focal pam?
LOL! Local. NY, maybe, in Oct. and maybe the new jean-george here
no booze for a bit though ;( Can't taste it
I am not going to touch any wine for the whole month of September.
horror! why?
if my sinus infection doesn't clear, neither will i
yes, why, ru?
someone told my wine collection I was dead Nancy..lol
LOL
prove them wrong ruru!!
no. I am going to try to lose some weight in the fall
i would love a glass but i can't describe how feh it tastes....
like feh.. this sucks?
yes, big time sucks. Got it from work....
cleaning a mildewed area
I haven't had a cold in many, many years
Allergic reaction was intense. Went right to sinuses. All bets off.
You are lucky, ruru. What's your secret?
I wash my hands a lot.
<--- almost OCD about it
I am nuts at work--i don't get colds much. But the sinuses are too sensitive....
I am, too, ruru. They make fun of me but I am the healthiest of the lot.
it's been over a decade since I was last ill

Ha4/9 everyone! He4/5 is a story of clues. I aw5/26 this morning with the intention of finishing this grid early. But I had a very busy day and didn't start the grid until after having ea 5/10 dinner.Since I was ne 4/4 to the finish line, I stopped to take a nap. When I re 7/40, I came back to babble.I came to chog only to enter into a very ee 5/10 silence. I fe 4/7ed once again I killed the chat log. I seem to be very good at that fe 4/7. But then some chatter began to en5/12 So I was su4/5 it wasn't I who killed chog. Anyway, it does not hu 4/6 my feelings if people don't notice my entrance.I do not shed a te 4/4 over it. I know they are eit5/12 engrossed in puzzle or surfing the web.I love this chatroom though. I would ra 4/4 it #1! My hubby ra 5/10 it negative th 5/12 though. He wants to kick me in the re 4/4 every time I babble. I think he feels th 8/45ed by the people he4/5.He always th 9/60 to get rid of computer for good.Well, th5/12 is my story. I hope you we 4/5 able to find more words with this.By the way, only some of this story is tr4/5 So now I am going to get up onto my fe 4/7 and take a shower. Then I am going to get some PJs to we 4/8 and reti 4/4 for the night. Goodnight to all babblers!

I'm su 4/5 you'll do well. I hope you get a good mentor

I'd do it for you, too, stid!!!
np stid!
I am also just a teeny bit nervous about the babble meet... even though I know and trust the people who are going to be there... it's still a LOT of socializing. *sigh*

I am heading out for the evening. EARLY wakeup tomorrow, so probably won't be on again today. (((Hugs and choclits for all))) *Poof*
sweet dreams, stid
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Hi all. I've been away for the weekend but have gleaned that there's no lickety or BabAnon stats since I finished the grid. It wasnt too bad a grid, so you probably don't need stats anyway, and there are lots of great cluers around. Anyway, I've put the stats in my profile and on BabAnon now, should anyone need them.
I beat the Letterblox queen featherbee by one. She must have been distracted by someone or something
Thank you Jacula, but I have a list in my profile also
Congratulations Jacula on finishing early! Way to go!
hi, jac, and ty
The candle burning in my profile is not only for Jellen's Tim now, but also for an ex-b/f of mine who had his funeral on Friday 13th at 4pm. I couldn't be at his funeral, but I knew he was going out to Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell at 4pm that day, and so I played it for him.
i'm sorry for your loss, jac
Hi Min and DCS.
dcs - not so much my loss, since it's many years now since we were together, but for his widow, yes. I was sad, though.
hint for the th5.20 before the th5 of fire/danger, pls?
found it :)
to be in awe of... or take the ice-melting word and change it a bit.
clue plz
danke ;)
Pini - clue for what?
Ah!
sorry...typed as you were typing...got it now :)
So, I see. LOL
* smile *
how about 2nd ar5?
is list up today?
min has one, mkg...
no lickety, list in jaculas, minver profiles and in babanon, mkg
...and maybe babanon?
(no lickety tho)
pini, add French summer
Pini - I would say, 'Sounds like a Yorkshire man asked if someone is alright or in good health' but I'm not sure you'd get that clue?
...and jac! :)
mkg - list in is my profile, in BabAnon and in Min's profile.
* thinking * jac...lemme see if I can figure it out!
got it!
Pini - it can be a geology word, or a word pertaining to bravery and valour.
* beaming *
Well done, Pini!
hi all again.
hi kat
You have every right to beam. I was just singing an old hymn to myself, 'When a knight won hs spurs in the stories of old, he was gallant and brave... etc'
hi, daykat
Hi kat.
can someone help with te5/10 please
it was meant to be, jac!! :)
plural of the 13-19 set, daykat
te5/10 are the kids, kat.
teens
oops!!!
The kids who are melodramatic...
That'd be it, but type it in the word box now.
* giggle *
thx for that one, DK...
sorreee- *slinks off to PB* is there chocolate here?
No idea what's in the PB. If it was up to me, Haz and FMitch, it would be stale bread and water, and hairshirts. Other Babblers seem to think differently, though. LOL
ROFL
(speaking of treats...I should find some dinner before having any)
brb
oh jac thats mean. PB'ers obviously need nurturing and gentle treatment becasue they're so silly
feather, are you about?
Do you think so, daykat? Nah! They need harsh treatment so they get it right next time. LOL
bring back the birch!!! the stocks!!
Actually, I've no probs with people making mistakes or being silly - it's the totally needy and the totally stupid ones I have probs with.
sorta
just happened to flip over here for a sec. why?
day - you have ni idea how close you've come to the old days of Babble. Though we did have a jacuzzi.
well then,i shall remove my bacon from the pb,if your going to use the stocks and hair shirts..sniff
Or even no idea. ROFLOL
just wondering if you want a game of letterblox tonight
crossy - I thought you'd like that sort of thing.
ummmm.....i promised myself i'd go to bed at 10....it's 10:14. you can see how well my plan went!
crossy, please leave your bacon - need brain food!
okay, another time then.
As for the bacon - it's fine, in small doses and with the fat removed.
depends on the lady joining me
k, catch you tomorrow!
you know what bacon is with fat removed?...air
k
Crossy - I love nothing better than a bacon sandwich with the bacon fat soaked into the bread. But none of us should do that too often - diet police/health police say so.
Crossy - I'mm make you one of my special Quiches soon.
mmm
Lots of bacon, full-fat Chddar cheese, home-made shortcrust pastry etc. Plus onions fried in butter.
You can eat it on Babble with no calories counted.
well today was my one day a month for bacon,so i did it full justice
What did you have?
jac, sounds loverly (nibbling on a celery stick)
day - you do know that you can eat anything you like so long as you do it in moderation? It's better to have a full range of food in your diet than to restrict yourself.
started with a full Canadian north woods brekkie of over easy jumbo eggs, hash browns with valencia onions fried in butter,a few maple and honey breakfast saussages,a stack of crispy english muffies with apple jelly or fresh raspberry jam,all washed down with ice cold fresh sqqueezed oj
and bacon of course
yummmmmmmy!
oooh crossy droool
lunch was blts, with fresh tomatos from my garden all done on light rye bread with mayo..
nice!
yes Jac I do know all of that:) the best way to set of a chocolate binge is to totally deny myself! I do try to eat varied dietmostly successfully
dinner was a from scratch macaroni and cheese baked in the oven all crispy with aged cheddar leftover bacon bits and topped with a generous dose of parm cheese
*packing to fly over to Crossy's for dinner*
gosh, crossy...you really know how to get a girl all hot and bothered! (wish someone would cook like for me!)
Crossy - blimey! I could never eat all of that (and don't like hash browns anyway), but I'm glad you made the most of your once a month meal.
lol, small portions and had a salad with the mack and cheese bake
you dont like hash browns?? i do not believe i have met anyone who dose not like potato chunks all done crispy in the pan with onions or chives
It's funny you in US and many in Europe call Macaroni Cheese , macaroni and cheese. My version of that is 'to die for' according to one of my son's former schoolfriends.
last night I made a risotto with mushrooms, fresh greens from the garden, and (of course) bacon bits and home made chicken stock
in canada we call it macaroni and cheese, but the kids call it mac n cheese
In Oz it's Macaroni Cheese
We just call it macaroni cheese here in UK.
cause that would imply cheese with macaroni in it lol
like we call it cauliflower cheese
i cannot do the old style fry-ups like my da used to do us when we were kids as it is too greasy even for meA;)
Anything with pasta, cheese, tomatoes, vegs is fine by me.
Day - thanks and ditto for the other dish.
Hi, all...
ditto
wb {{jellen}}...how was it?
((jellen))
You doin' ok?
It was lovely...
Once again, I see many more similarities between Aussie English and UK English than US English.
{{Jellen}}
oh, good to hear!
Hi Jellen. We're all just discussinvg food here and the differences in English throughout the world.
Jac even though Oz is very multicultural now the basic emigration was from Britain
day - yes, it was.
of course jacula, there is a closer history with the aussies and the britts..remember,you tossed all the prisioners over there lol..and my family history records it funny enough;0
the language is changing amongst the younger ones now - becoming more US influenced probably becasue of TV
hi, jellen
But, so was the migration into USA.
huge areas here were setteled by Spanish or French
the state food here in Virginia came from Ghana
crossy - you have "encouraged emigrants' to Oz in your family tree?
dcs - don't forget the Dutch!
indeed daykat
dutch in New York, New Jersey and Delaware, yes
Swedes in Delaware and New Jersey
Germans in North Dakota; Italian in California
Ozzies are now very proud if they can trace family back to convicts:)
Germans in Pennsylvania
there, too, dc ;)
day - we've got a change in language now over here in UK, influenced by the Antipodes... many of our young people, my daughter included, make statements sound like questions.
all the kids do that - hate it
too much Home and Away /Neighbours!!
young people everywhere do that, jac
my ancestor was Lord Viscount melbourne and when princess vic was a wee striking lass of but 19,my horny old fella was boinking hers and in payment for services rendered we got a city named after us;)
Isn't is reaaly great though that the world has become smaller in that we can all talk to one and other and see we are not so different?
kind of a dubious thing to have in the family but oh well;/
ROFL...nice one, crossy!
it is all true pini
indeed it is jacula :)
crossy, what a colourful ancestor!
the lord viscount was 52 at the time
We're all, mostly, mongrels, and we're all just human beings.
lol
Don't doubt it...it's rather like my trying to tell people just how it's possible that I am my own 5th cousin!
like that JAc, all of us mongrels
gout claimed the old sod
Pini - now that sounds like the intro to a song (I'm my own Grandpa). Do expand!
* giggle * sure does, jac...
wonder if i can get a discount at melbourne hotels if i flash my papers? lol
Flash your what, crossy?
lol
...my Italian greatgrandparents had the same greatgrandfather :)
Hmmm, pini go on.
sounds almost like a U.S first cousin thing lol
which makes them 2nd cousins...
Crossy - I hope it's tanned or else we'll be playing another old song about the moon.
lol jacula
making my grandfather his own 3rd cousin; my mother her own 4th cousin; me, my own 5th cousin
Carry on Pini.
I'll see if I can pen it out and post it as an icon image! LOL
here u go,the steven goodman version is better but this i found on short notice...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7x1ETP kZsk
i have first cousins 25 and 29 years younger than me.
family reunions would be easy pini!!!
love the song, crossy! (thankfully, my relationship to myself just ain't that close!) :)
ROFL!
my son is 2 years older than one of his uncles...lol
It's no good, I can't resist...
i have friends who are 22 years younger than their eldest nephew.
my granddaughter is older that her mother's half-sister!
http://tinyurl.com/349oo9h
steve good man does it best
and "vegematic' is a riot!
I learn the most amazing things playing Babble!!
* giggle *
Oh...and did you hear, Jillibus and I might be distance cousins!!!!!
I can't believe it Pini! How?
my mom has a vegematic
Bugs, I'm excited for this coming weekend!
Let's not start making Babble making us all reltions, Pini. LOL
me too!
ok i give in whats a vegematic?
Well, some of our ancestors come from the same place in Scotland! Same family surname and clan...
perhaps there is a lurking Babble gene Jacula and only those who have it, like the game!
sorry, jac...I think this may be more of a fluke than reality! :)
6 degrees of separation etc
now there's an idea, bugs!
Bug - I have a feeling you might be right.
I am a McNeill of Gigha if that is the one
we had a patty stacker, the garden weasel, and a pocket fisherman
i met two distant cousins in HS, one from my mom's side, and one from my dad's.
we're Murray's of Atholl (Aberdeen, Scotland)
Many people call all of us in Babble 'A Family'. Perhaps they are more right than they realise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnqtGjH Jjs8
Good fun though!
check that out
When he was in college, my dad received the grades of another student with the same name! (dad was a senior, the other was a freshman)
a friend grew up here, and did not know that the Smithsonian has a website: si.edu LOL
Here's the tiny url version of Crossy's link.as a length of 42 characters and resulted in the following TinyURL which has a length of 25 characters: http://tinyurl.com/d6uprf

It was very nice, Bugsaw...
Jellen - yet another Scottish word . Tenant. Looks like French fire with a consonant at the end.
I am glad. Services are to help the living
Having fun now listening to Louden Wainwright III describing what happens to badgers here in UK.
Thanks, Jac

Jellen -y/w.
he did mostly small bar gigs,so i apologise for some of the quality
His voice sounds very like Cat Stevens'.
crossy loves the cat man
oh very young etc

I had tooo much God, having gone to a Chruch school, and hadn't seen too much evidence of the 'offical Good's' love, having grown up just after WWII, and even WWI, then Vietnam happening, even here in UK. I guess I'm a pagan, and I'm proud to be one. A human being that recognises that there might be a higher powr (probably, a more intelligent race from outer space) but doesn't really care if there is or there isn't. I just rejoice in nature with all its mysteries and wonders.
i have no problem with god,i really like god..just some of the fan clubs leave a bit to be desired;)
cr0ssy - LOL. I'm just listtening to your last link.
sorry but im in the mod for his tunes tonight..thought i would share
that last on is one of my faves
