bugs -- who is your icon guy?
Not Nixon!!! lol It is Buddy Holly for Old Rock day
I won't give Nixon any kind of honour even if he said he was a Quaker
Well, I knew it wasn't Nixon, and figured it was a rocker -- just too old to know which one, lol!
I hope you had a good look at his expression in my icon, bugs, and what I said about him
you'd remember him, jill - big in the 50s, died in a plane wreck with the big bopper I think
Ithink I will head out now since I am slowing down and want to have some fun tomorrow as well.
sweet dreams dear bugs! (((hugs bugs!)))
Good nite all and happy Babbling
Oh, I remeber hearing about him and how upset my son was about the plane wreck. Just didn't recognise him.
G'night bugs! I'm busy tomorrow -- library wrok.
*work, duh
nice to have the mh and the oh in the same grid
I think it was a terrible tragedy, like all plane wrecks. A sadness for me is the way that we seem to lose a lot of artists that way, people who are embodying their generation.
Claudette Colbert, Will Rogers...
back in the old days
yes. people who manage to make visible the pulse of an era.
yay, nbt + fw :oD

hiya, please help with w words, ty
riaf
w's old-fashioned word for forest and plural
thanks so much!
yw, it's rare for me to be able to help
am a novice and just started and now hooked!
I've been playing for a year and 3 wks, definitely hooked
I don't list, just try to get at least half every day and have only finished about 5 times, and always with a little help from the chat
how are you doing, hansa?
fine, 28 left so far
me, too, exactly 28!
you are very good at this, then
see you later
okie, till the next time...down to 25...
Hallo all. Haven't been on for a while.
Morning Sally, your absence was noted ;)
<blush> Owe you an email too. Just things, been happening. How are you?
All warm and cosy today v cold o/s but lovely and sunny. Good grid for a Sunday morning too.
Yes, a nice size.
HAs the snow finally cleared?
We were surprised to wake up to quite a bit on Friday which meant I had to cancel something, but was gone by yesterday, and sunny but cold today.
morning everyone
Morning Eva!
Hi Eva
How are you Eva? and hows Merp?
Why do I keep seeing "Quatermass" in the grid? :-)
We are just fine FM. I haven't been here in a while because Wildcat introduced me to Serpentine, and I've gotten hooked. It's a nice change, but as it as a time limit it is very jazzing....not nice and calming like coming home to Babble.
How are you doing?
LOL thats one good phantom.
anything new in your life?
Doing fine Eva and it is good to see you back in babble land. Nothing new to report, too busy working and hibernating!
hibernating for sure. Odd winter as you guys have been getting almost all of our snow. Worrisome about the gardens as it has been quite cold with no snow cover. But grey, grey, grey.
That is unusual Eva re the snow. Grey all the time is so depressing.
I assume not much sun there either?
going to turn on my light box right now
The odd day like today, the last 2 days have been solid rain and yuck but spring is out there somewhere.
IT's no good tum has been runbling for a while and is demanding brunch. Lovely to see you Eva and Sally TTFN.
later FM
bye for now FM.
very optimistic to smell spring in the air.....in about 4 months(-:
<grin>, no, less than that. Our frogs usually start spawning at the beginning of March.
(And we are a lot further north than FM)
I guess it depends on what you call spring....here we call March and part of April mud season, and it doesn't pay to get one's hopes up in March, as there are frequently blizzards. But none of us can count on the old weather patterns any more can we.
No, but we have noticed things like the frogs, and when the swallows come back, are getting slightly earlier in the year.
the biggest storm we've had so far this winter was about 8 inches, then a couple at about 4 inches and then it got warm, so only a few inches on the ground.
normally by now there would be a good 2 feet on the ground.
where are you Sally?
We never get that much here! I am in Shropshire, near Wales.
It must be lovely there.
Up a bit and left a bit :-)
It is incredibly unspoilt. sssshhhh!
Just finished watching an TV series on Netflix which you probably know....Doc Martin?
I won't tell anyone
No, don't know that. We don't have a TV, so only watch occasionally things on BBC iPlayer (which if you don't know, is a catch-up thing which you can watch on your computer or iPad).
Where was Doc Martin set?
Doc Martin is also on hulu...it is set in Cornwall and I loved it. Great lead actor whose name, of course, I can't recall right now.
Not Martin Clunes, is it, Eva? Maybe I'm just getting mixed up with the Martins.
Cornwall is lovely too and has the advantage of the sea, but the disadvantage (IMO) of too many tourists in the summer.
Yes-Martin Clunes!
Thanks NB!
NB! How are you doing? Haven't been on for a while so the last time I was on you were just coming out of hospital.
The sea is the one thing I miss here in Vermont - oh and ethnic diversity
You're welcome. Thought I had a bolt of inspiration ;)
why were you in the hospital NB? Hope nothing serious
Love your kitty :-)
I'm okay thanks Sally...ill again but allowed to be at home as long as I stay on bedrest, so bored outta my mind.
lol at ethnic diversity. Ethnic diversity in this area means someone from a village two miles away :-)
Ah, my liver packed in, Eva. Have a nice shiny new one now though ;)
Sorry about being poorly again. Take it easy and do what you are told!
oh wow NB!!! How hard. You are much too young to have to go through all of this! Treat yourself with lots of gentleness and patience.
phone
Know what you mean Sally. Im Jewish and that makes me relatively exotic around here. Anyone who wasn't born here (and there are many) is "flatlander"
s'alright Eva, better to get it out of the way when young, I suppose :)
is that your kitten?
yeah, that's our boy! the youngest of our three cats - isn't he a cutie? I may be biased :P
He should be a terrifically healing influence! Very, very cute. I'm getting kitten lust.
15 left and totally stuck. Think I'll tale a break for a while. See you later
LOL! Oh yes ;) he's learning to "stalk" at the moment, so if you walk into our flat, he follows your ankles and then bolts if you look at him...
s'later :)
better than attacking your ankles like some cats I know personally (-:
Morning all. Lots of recent repeats in this grid.
Hi Molly, sorry was on phone.
Morning all!
Hi Champ!
Hi Sally! How's it going?
Grid going well: 2 to find.
Go Sally! I've got 52.
And done :-) Do you need any clues?
Yeah for you!!! No clues at the moment, thanks. Will muddle through. Not feeling hopeless yet. ;)
OK, will be gone then. Good luck!
ty. have a great day!
Back for more, I was doing my yoga.
HI Molly!
Mornin' Champ.
what a tragedy-the shooting in Arizona
I agree, that was awful.
I wish I could say "unbelievable", but this stuff is happening all too often.
i don't know if it's the media or political parties that have created such hate
But the people that act on it are most certainly mentally unstable, and that's a whole other ball of wax!
And unfortunately it will, until this country provides better mental health care that is affordable.
I agree. That worries me so much...mentally unstable people wandering around with no help.
i think most people could do without the constant conflict that's on the news every day. If they would try to do positive stories more it couldn't hurt. And, yes, there are lots of unstable people around with guns.
I don't usually watch it. Prefer the newspaper, where I can read between the lines, and pick and choose what I read.
Vd, I agree. Positive thought helps. Even your positive thoughts throughout the day contribute to a more positive collective soul. Think of that scene in Ghostbusters with The Statue Of Liberty.
i try to keep positive about the economy and such, but it's so hard sometimes.
I'm positive about it. We go through good times and bad, and it's cyclical. I'm ready for the upside!
aren't we all
Good morning
definitely!
good morning!
Hopefully this shooting will tone down the ugly rehtoric
anyone want to clue the w's? feeling blind over there!
i sure wouldn't want to be a politician after that. Actually not even before that.

good morning everyone;) i am guessing by reading back there has been another massive shooting somewhere in the states and it is truly sad and i agree with you champ,i read enough newspapers to keep current and leave the talking heads on tv to others
a congresswoman, judge, 9 yr old among others were shot and killed in AZ, 6 killed
:(((
and of last night 19 wounded...what a world..the suspect is 22 years old

I just cant get over the girl who was killed. Makes me sick
Makes you want to live in a cave with your family
It is very sad. Prayers out for all who lost loved ones.
This is why I am no longer comfortable in large groups of people.
i deal with large groups of the public every day,so when i am not working i go into hermit mode lol
Bless you Cross for having to deal with large public groups at work. That can't be easy all of the time.
i do not have poker nights,i do not invite people over for nude, oiled twister night,i do not have massive weekend bbq,s lol

Ruby will have a laugh at ca5 being in the grid. : D
ad 4,5?
had foot of snow 3 days ago but it is all run of the mill stuff now and all groomed in and ready for the skiiers
21 F here, and a few inches of powder fell overnight, with more coming down now. XC-skiing will be great later.
ad r/5 is the plural of a big affair

Enjoy the day, Annie!
or no if an** or buts
ty annie
thank you, scrabbs...how is the Little One?
Does Ruby eat ca5's?
Blarg,ad 4/5
she does indeed
ty ad4, 5
Scrabs, Ruby had her leftover Christmas ca5 out in the yard for weeks. Said it was colder out there, than in the fridge. I was worried it was going to decompose and envelop her house. : D
ad clued at 8:18
Getting better everyday! More energetic, more cheerful. She will undergo a cardiac catherization in 4 wks. That info will dictate the timing of surgery.
Silly Ruby.
scrabbs, thanks for the update and much love to the family
My Mom used to do that with turkey in the garage. It made me laugh.
Blessing to the wee one Scrabs. We are pulling for her. And her folks.
TY, Annie + Molly.
rh4 + ri5 in upper left. The third?
greek letters
another rh4
TY + DUH.
I saw that word and said, "If it were a U there then I could type the poison ivy word RHUS."
scrabbs, Is it freezing cold where you are?
I just noticed the Qu tile.
It is a pretty straightforward gird today
21F here. Not bad. When I ski it's mostly my fingers that get cold but yesterday I switched to mittens and that was better.
okay, I am on my way out...bye dear babblers

coughing gunk
o, comig here
my friend fell and broke her hip and she now has ileitis...she was told ileitis is common after surgery? Is that so?
I think she means ileus, and yes
ileitis is not common
the anesthesia can cause ileus - as can narcs without an adequate bowel regimen
From your chest, kje? Wheezing? So flu or some other critter?
ah, thank you so much...will google and get back to her this afternoon...
You are a dear
where is she, anie?
she is in coney island hosp in brooklyn...a city hosp
is that assoc with albert einstein? they have a good geri program, get a geri consult so that someone besides the surgeons are managing her
Great suggestion, kje.
thank you... will tell her what you just said. blesses.

no idea lil*monkey LOL don't get the clue
I'll be drinking bourbon in the PB if anyone needs me.
lol Molly best clue of all
kudos to Molly ;-)
thanks for the word - waving at you in the PB - do you want tea and cake in there Molly???
good afternoon all
glanta you have never heard the words "ma" and "pa" for mother and father????
Molly, pass that bourbon *shaking head in disbelief*
good Sunday, sprite
Hi Sprite :)
hi babble friends :)
hi sprite
yes i've heard them but don't use them lil*monkey
when you said pa i was thinking personal assistant!
*guzzling bourbon*

I'm going to play with metal
removing all mancrap form between sofa cushions and dohair from everywhere
doghair even!
'morning folks
bye Glantarell
(spent what seemed like hours stuck in the york roundabout - almost had to order sandwiches in)
hiya welki :)
good morning welki :-)
(but then found a nice pub and commenced to drinking a "special" bottle of hooch called 'sheep dip')
one heckuva storm, diane .. wind's still howling here
we didn't get the high winds you did welki, but I think more snow. Talked to son yesterday and he hadn't let granddaughter head back to Lethbridge.
it's still pretty dicey out there
It was a good thing, as her friend got stranded in Claresholm... they closed the highway.
*Molly and Lil, intoxicated in the PB, begin to blast dance music*
pretty ugly here too... hubby is just heading out with the snowblower again
no surprise, that road is horrific with wind/snow
I think I wanna join you there, Molly
too much wind to clear the walks .. maybe later
Sprite, your icon scared me until I read the icon theme of the day. : D
we are heading to AZ next Friday, all being well with hub's eye and IF we can get OUT of Alberta and through Montana LOL
you have a place down there or are you RV'ing?
you should stop in montana to say hi to dawg and jilli :)
no.... the aforementioned son ( works for Telus in Calgary ) built a home in Casa Grande 5 years ago. We and the inlaws get to use it for free
lol Molly!
any way i can marry into the family? *lol*
which jilli? ... the one I haven't seen lately probably
lol.... nobody available at the moment... grandson is only 16 LOL
jillijill - i think she and dawg are face-to-face friends
I've seen dawger, but not jillijill for some time
dang .. too complicated. would have to find a reason to ditch my old man, wait until your grandson is of age .. *sigh*
lol.... or get to know me and receive an invitation !! We've had friends join us in previous years. We will be there until first week of April.
*Smacking head* My husband was a guitar player and I miss ca4/6 all the time.
thanks for the potential invite .. careful what you wish for! LOLOL
*grin* Babble blindness.
and now it's time to continue my ascent to the peak of Mt. Laundry ... horrible climb. later, babblers!
later welki... nice chatting :-)
bye welki, enjoy Mount Washmore
scan
very good, Nef
Well, SHOOT! How'd I get over here? Good Morning All!
(heading for PB booth already)
good morning Nef :) It happens... I always blame the site.
But that was my first word! How bad is that?
not bad at all. With your first word, how are you supposed to know where your cursor is?
I was *sure* I was in the right box. Oh, well.... How is everyone today?
pretty good today. Sorted out all the laundry and made a big dent in Mt. Washmore. And got a sweet apology from my hubby (we had a fight last night) with my prompting him!
OOOH! You score on both counts! Good for you! :-)
withOUT my prompting him even
and how are you today, Nef?
My DH and I have never gone to bed mad at each other. It's made for some late nights (til we wanted to talk about it) but it makes for good sleeping
it sure does. I tried to, yesterday, but my love didn't want to talk, and then he went to bed. And I get soooo miffed when he drops off to sleep right away while I lay awake until 3.30 am, lol!
A bit sore and stiff today. I did too much cleaning in a short period of time yesterday; plus had my grandson (I can't help getting down to his level and playing with him even if I hurt)
oh that sounds so familiar. Sorry you are hurting. Hope you can take it a bit easier today. But I bet you enjoyed your grandson a lot :)
See, *I'm* the one who falls asleep as soon as I lay down; but he would keep wiggling and twitching til I woke up (usually upset at being awakened!)
today will be a slow and easy day; so that's recovery time for me
hehehe well I learned that pushing my love to talk is useless, especially when he is really in the wrong. But when I give him space and time, he will think about it and make up.
ah good! Recovery time is very important when you have overdone things. Be nice to you today!
I absolutely love playing with him; and also my former neighbors' 2 kids (I "adopted" them when they lived next door)
awwww that is so sweet! And I fully understand you getting down to their level. I still do that, with my niece and nephew now (kids are longer than I!). But when mine were small, I put little stools and chairs everywhere.
LOL! I have the little stools and chairs around; I just forget and sit on the floor! :-)
lol! Yes, it is tough to think of those things when you are enjoying the little ones!
NBT already! How are you finding this grid? I thought yesterday's was easy; now this one is going well too for me!
it helps when there aren't a lot of long words.
very true, hurshy. How are you today?
i'm alright, and you?
okay; we have sunshine and it's -2 (F) here
hi hursh :) Yes, easy grid, I only need 7 more words. Am folding some laundry now though.
Go, Go, sprite! You can do it!
i am eatig german chocolate cake for breakfast
i feel decadet
-*hugs decadent kje*
hi sprite
good evening babblers xxx
OOOH, kje! Now I'm thinking that sounds like a great breakfast!
hi frogface
hello sprite xx
it is delish - with a really stroing cuppa
hi frogface
hello nef xx
well i'm down to 4, 2 M's and 2 S's - what are you missing, sprite?
got the M's!
4 x m and 3 x T
wtg :)
i bet I have your 2 m's - would you like a clue
Woo, Hoo, hurshy! You can do it!!!
i just need S5 and 6 now
there's the 5!
I need one more 7 now, one more 6
ah, now only the Ts left
7s are both plurals (hello!)
no that's a lie. 7s are both 6s with one letter added at the end
done :) Nice fireflies. Hi LeslieAnn!
no they are plurals. maybe i should go back to bed.
nice work sprite ;)
yayayay sprite
YAY, sprite!!! WTG!!!!
:D thanks!
so, can you help me with my S6, not the so6.
hi LA. Don't go back to bed; you're giving me hints! ;-)
sh6/24, I think
please stay, LeslieAnn :)
ok thanks i monkeyed it
weird one though
2 syllables, hursh
ah you already got it. Wtg hurs!
nice work hursh!
woot, that is one beautiful flower, LeslieAnn
oh thank you. i put it up for jellen but never took it down.
ok, got to go. Have fun all and see you tomorrow :)
then your profile statement is totally on point! ;-)
bye sprite
uh yes. on many counts.
bye sprite. Good luck with Mt. Washmore!
hagn sprite
:-) that Japanese car/truck has sure been getting a lot of mileage in the grid lately !
thank goodness that n came thrugh that time kje
hey ru - had the wine... very nice!
so far you have oly steered me wrong once ; )
oh.. great.. I think it is really lovely wine.
? once? when was that?
diane, it really seems like regular words and babblets run in streaks here. Once I see the volcano in one grid, it's often in several within the next week. Then it's gone again
coffaro - wasn't in love with them... however, they were the ones that said we must visit frick, and I love them, so it worked out
etna tends to get dis-erupted
I am starting to notice that too, now that I've been playing for a while, Nef
oh..Coffaro..I 'll not recommend him any more then.. screw the guy
hi ruru. But don't you think words run in streaks too (esp. etna, *I* think)
lol
yes.. they do nef..
10 to go - I have slowed
I do have another recommendation kje
hold a sec, timer beeping, brb
Is there a Spec's near you?
ok, back
o... spec in housto but not dallas
hello?
hi.. sorry.. making breakie for mrs ru
try 2009 Foillard Beaujolais Cote du Py..$28
i'm sure they have it
will look here... specs is not in dallas
it is a Morgon .. add that to the description
ok
the 2009 Beaujolais are soooo tasty and reasonable for the unbelievable quality.
brb
morgon as in region? not familiar with morgon
m, google answers all
Morgon is a cru appellation in Beaujolais
the wines are a little beefier and more powerful
the foillard is delicioso
i'm trying to find more
ok, will look
4 left, all s.... I do not think any more s exist
you give such good advice on wines, ruru. I've never figured out what you do (besides live in wine country USA)
he is a poser, nef... it is all BS (I just humor him)
LOL! :-)
ooo - monkeyed oe, ow 3
I take it that your N key sticks, kje?
that makes it hard to enter words
yes... makes babble painful with lots of n's
loved yesterday's - no N's!
what is that sh 6 you guys were talking about?
I got rid of my last keyboard because of that; too tough to play Babble (can't remember which 2 keys stuck though. Maybe an A and L?
it is a laptop, ef
Sorry, I don't have the sh6 yet
so trickier
It's like the last name of the John who was on "Full House".
ty
and then there were 2
is there an so6?
Yes there is an so6
kje, just get a regular keyboard and plug it in to the laptop. That's what we did for the telephone triage job I had: we had a laptop for the computer and a separate keyboard and screen for it.
ok... looking
(and that was how a huge insurance company did their triage nursing)
that is crazy, nef
kind of defeats the whole portable thing - lol
uno
not really. it had lots of power and was portable and cheap
GO, kje! You can do it!
sheesh - the last was a buttery fish
FW!
!!!!!KJE!!!!!!
YAY, kje!!! WTG!!!!
it may be time for a nap
either that or laundry... I choose nap
good choice
enjoy the day, all - see ya
Bonjour Babblers! Vous parlez francais?
big fat NON to that one, Mark ;)
Right, NB. I am doing well already!
can anyone clue my last one please so6-21
have a cousin staying with me so it's all I can do to remember my own mother tongue at the moment ;)
hi and nbt
un petit peu, mark
Hey joshua!
hi NB, Mark, froggle and joshua. I wandered off for a cuppa coffee and you all came in!
Hey nef!
NB, you have a relative visiting? Great!
froggle, so 6/21 is an extension of so4/5 just before it
hi nef, ty
Which so4/5 is it?
so + pa's wife
Got it. Thx!
hey mark, je le parle!
hello everybody
what's the big buttery fish?
hi ruby
hello nef and molly and leslie and NB
hey ruby
Magnifique! Bonjour rubyfoo!
found 89 words this AM
nice work!
allo! what is your flag, Mark?
j'habite a cote d'Annecy
i'm about at the same spot, trying to go listless. missing half of the 6s... have mo, qu, so
I don't have the so6, only the sh6 and two mo6 (and a plural) and the qu6
scroll down about 10 minutes for so6 discussion, ruby
My flag is from Andorra! My profile says I am from the Andromeda Galaxy, though.
no flag for the andromeda galaxy? for shame.
do you have much snow?
I know, Leslie. I'm not sure. I am not actually from Andorra.
;)
clue for that sh6?
I've been wondering if the big buttery fish might be a comment related not to a clue for a word for all of us but rather related to kje's work?
and I am not actually from here! hahah
can someone tell an ignorant brit what part of the world andorra is in please?
I think it's in the Pyrrenees (bad spelling)
Andorra is in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, and speaks Catalan
it's a european micro-state
tyvm xxx
Ruby is correct. Thanks, seanin.
Seain
hello seain!
it's the only remaining independent part of the ancient kindom of Rousillon
hello, ruby, mark, froggie, et al
I think the Tour de France went either through it or very close last summer
Bonjour Seain!
Again, you are correct.
hello dc xx
I just monkeyed the so6, too lazy to look in the chog....
hi seain
hi, nef
phantom: shmata
maybe it's catalan.....
clue for sh6 and the mo6 that does not extend to the 7?
plural of mo5/14 single cell creature (I think)
sh6/ private detective
the mo6 is a pl, LA. I don't have the sh6 yet
never heard of catalan in my life. ignorant boy!
like in an old Elmore Leonard book
i don't no if it is either, ruby, but got it from your clue :)
sosme people in Barcelona speak it, NB, and the separatist movement is Catalan
Be back in a minute. Laundry time!
it's also spoken in Valencia and the Islas Baleares/Illes Balears
(Never have gotten the name of those islands straight in English)
give me a break! that mh word???????come on now! is that really english???????
mh4 is a plural, like one of the stooges
thanks for the clue, mkg, down to 14 ;)
mhos
should have waited for ruby's better clue
whoops, thought it was spelled the other way. It's a measure in physics, I think
mh4 like rh4, and mh4 is anagram of oh4
what's in the PB? anything good? I had a homemade yucky dinner
and i must away to drop recycling and meet up with a friend on this windy, frigid day :)
i think some drunks left whiskey in there this morning ;)
happy babbling, yall! :D
i have the word but i question its english usage. sounds not english to me. oh well.
I wish!
it's a unit of electrical conductance (had to look that up)
high school physics was about 100 yrs ago
learn something new every day, I suppose
mo 5 first one please.
there's some German Chocolate cake in the PB. kje was eating some for breakfast and since I was in there, I ordered some from the bakery
mouth is watering
help for the w?
I'm back. Hey, mkg!
wo4/9 and plural, old-time word for forest
hi mark
thanks ruby
wonda: should be a word: how new yorkers pronounce wonder! right? am i right here guys???
I only have 17 left but they are invisible
Yeah, you are right. Left!
how about the movie family which rhymes with that? let's take a vote
what letters, ruby?
sh 6: this is a name for a desert, and is capitalized. come on now. what is going on with this grid? we dont use cap. names do we? like detroit?
3 s's, 4 h's, 2 m's, etc. too many to ask for help
I'm smacking the monkeys!
Which m's?
i have all the h words. do you have the person left money in the will and plural?
hit me with a mackerel, leslie! ty
boy i am having issues with the grid today. not a hard one but words that shouldnt be accepted. oh well.
Not to mention the words that sound the same but refer to the stuff on your head
they were my last h words too for some reason
have those, but thanks
also ha + an alien who phones home
how are you glantarell?
yes, my dictionary says quata is a word but not here
have that, but good clue
the h5 is the japanese car again
i am fine thank ruby
if you have the car brand - all the others are 4 letters
just have 16 left and struggling
ty for the car
14!
h4 - pl of the thing that buildres use to carry bricks
Can i have a hint for the 7's?
one 7 is the plural of the mo6 which is a yarn made form goats hair
one is a q, plural of qu6/27
oooooops ! ;-)
they are both plurals mark. mo6 can be a type of sweater, qu6 is a unit of measurement + vowel
i am in the PB now.... bourbon left by lil*monkey is nice!
LOL.... okay :-)
hi diane
hoss is a word!!
hmmm, bourbon and German chocolate cake
hiya ruby :-) I'm just back and forth this morning
Leslie, you gave me 6's. Looking for 7's.
h's have had it!
yes the 7s are both plurals of those 6s
mo6 plural
qu6, plural
put the plurals on mark.
add an s to the end and they become 7s
ruby, burbon and german choc. cake doesn't sound healthy
There isn't an s next to the last letter!
hey, who needs healthy in the PB?
any clues for the mo 5 please? there is only one.
rhymes with gonad
on the qu mark... aim south west
p's, phinished
strange word...thanks Glan. Plurals too!
yes it does
q5, 16 anybody?
finito, and without the list! whew
Two pints, Glant.
I think that's what I am missing, glanta
wtg lbd
i have that one judi
hi judi
there must be another q5
WTG, lbd!!! YAY!!!
there is another qu5 and i can't even monkey it
Eq5/16: compare to e +qu5. minus the beginning e.
congrats, ibd!
to equal something.... take away the e
ooh, american measurements. never knew what that was either..
ty ty ty. good clues today, sure helped find the last m's for me.
ty diane
I had that but still need one....
I still think in Imperial most of the time. Old habits die hard !
i'm totally imperial LOL
I go back and forth, living here makes me need metric
Queen Glanta!
Canada changed to metric in 1970... was a tedious procedure !
in theory the UK changed in 1971 but we never quite made it compulory apart form the currency
I have an American measuring cup with metric on one side, so I can easily compare the liquid measures
Halfway there!
it is now illegal to sell fruit & veg in imperial weights but we all just convert in our heads so we know what we're buying in pounds!
and I have a conversion chart right on my desktop... mainly for temperatures... handy for chatting to people all over the world
I found the qu6 but not the 7;
illegal!
add an s
I had a friend make me a crib sheet for the oven
if it's the version that ends in o - or the same word ends in e but doesn;t pl
there are two qu 6s that are unit of measurement + vowel. try another one?
I have the one with the unit of measurement+ vowel. I need the other one.
hi babblers, glantarell, glad to know i'm not the only one who is always converting everything to imperial lol
the one you need mark is the 2 pint measurement, + a round vowel and a plural
Thanks Glantarell!
head s.w. on your grid
d's dead!
hello, another welsh woman - where are you?
sorry Mark... I see that's the one you DO have
I guess I'm missing the other q 6
Now I have them both.
me, too, diane
right out on the south west peninsula glantarell, where are you?
the qu6 is the same word with 2 different ends - e & o
i'm in brecon but come to st davids several times a year
is it fabulous to be welsh?
ty glanta
q's quashed
9 left
absolutely fabulous LOL
ah right, been to the brecon area a few times and my dad came from that direction, i am about 15 miles from st davids
i mean it, i have to decide what places i might want to move to, and i want to know how wales is.
beautiful country and coast, good food, friendly people and an interesting language
moving, Hursh? that's exciting..
i have seen the beautiful country on top gear, that was appealing
they say carmarthenshire is the best place in Wales but I think it depends what you want form where you live
oh i am not moving NOW, i am just thinking of places to dream of living in.
there are really wild places, high moorlands, hills, mountains, rolling hills,
what is particularly good about carmarthenshire?
all the best people are welsh don't you agree Glantarell?? rofl Take ~Catherine Zeta Jones, Tom Jones, Anthony Hopkins to name just 3 ;)
I love the area around here for its beauty but it can be a pain to be 20 miles firm anywhere else if you can't find what you want in town - thank goodness for the ionternet!
not to mention Michael Sheen and Richard Burton, Duffy, Katherine jenkins, Charlotte Church
7!
of course with cardiff you have the rift and all that alien activity...
Exactly 50 left for me1
!
mark are you related to those other joneses?
carmarthenshire has low rolling hills (mostly), coast, good transport links as it is at the end of the M4, and very few buolt up areas, but with a good shopping centre or two in Llaneli and carmarthen
but there's NO place like London
Way too many pople ion London LOL
I love London! I was there three years ago on a tour. It was awesome!
that does sound good, glantarell
oh, and of course I didn't mention the castles - Wales has 641 in varying stages of decay
and a thousand miles of mostly gorgeous coastline
what's the cost of living like? how much would, say, a two bedroom cottage cost?
I agree Glantarell lol.....whenever I have to go to London I just do whatever needs doing and get out of it as quickly as possible lol
hurshy, you could buy one of the castles and start renovating it now, so you have plenty of time
there are quite a few beaches where you are likely to be the only person there if you know where to look
I love living in big cities...no such thing as 'too many people'! Glad to hear you liked it, Mark - best city on earth ;)
i'm SURE i can't afford a castle!
2 bed cottage - very much depenmds where you are looking
a fixer-upper
I live near St. Louis; I should know;
my house is on the market now and is 300,000 for a 4 bedroom detached stone built 'cottage' style house on 1/5 acre
Look at the icon!
but if I moved it 15 miles down the road to Cfickhowell it would be worth £400,000
does a 2 bedroom cost half a 4 bedroom? :)
If you moved to Wales, Hurshy, you'd have to adjust to the stunning lack of vowels, too.
and if I moved it 20 miles south into one of the built up valleys, it would probably be worth £225,000
i could adjust to the vowel situation, i think
I think you could get anice 2 bed fixer upper in Carmarthenshire for less than £100,000
well, 7 vowels has got to be better than a mere 5 LOL
f's finished
i am troubled by two t's
Which ones?
there's an animal ta4/5 sounds like the black sticky stuff
Fireworks!!
and plural
yay judi!!!
a ta4,4 and a ta4,5 - but I have the ta4,5 which is vaguely religious
how much fixing upping are you talking about? full renovation or a little TLC?
wtg judi
somewhere between full renovation and a little tlc
city in new mexico
scottish hats
ok i am thinking about animals and black sticky stuff and cities in new mexico (which is somewhere south in the US, right?)
i have scottish hats
the animal is obscure, but sounds like the black stuff
found that ty ruby
an pl - t's are trashed!
yay glanta
13 left - all s's
how many left?
6 left, 3 of them s's
there are 13 sh's
we will be selling a 3 bed house, middle of block of 4 houses, full central heating, double glazing, conservatory, parking on front for 2/3 cars and large rear garden, needs new kitchen, carpets, would hope to get 100-110k....will have to see what the market is like when the time comes
are you in haverford?
yup
soms
different ending
sorry, monkeying in wrong box - back to PB
vowel and then sounds like musical piece
there's still some whiskey
Okay, now it is time for me to go. Au revoir!
bye mark
yay!!!! fireworks!!!!!!!
au revoir et bonne soiree, mark
wtg frogfce
congrats frog
congrats, froggie
well, welsh bookworm, if you're selling it to move to new haven, CT, in a few years, maybe we can swap, LOL
tyty
n's nailed!
a's aced
lol.....we have downsized into a 2 bed bungalow on other side of town but not easy clearing 30 odd years of stuff and chucking most of it lol
I'm packing a few boxes each week - house is starting to look pleasingly minimalist
husband was a real clutter gatherer
i've got one of those too Glan......if it's not computers it's model railways and if not those then it's radios and other carp hehehe
blooming ornaments with mine
not that he ever had ti dust them
but of course none of my books and art & craft stuff constitute clutter at all!!!!! ;)
3 left and they're all s's
oh you do art & craft too? that's my hobby
there are some very weird s's
passionate about it glan, knitting, crochet, sketching, silk painting, cross stitch, encaustic wax to mention a few
mixed media and more recently textile art fr me but i do knit/crochet/decorate cakes too
I have several things I enjoy much of the time, some things I do occasionally and a few things I am still putting to in the water so to speak
toe*
rubber stamping and paper arts led me to mixed media, playing with metal and altering objects
so5,16 and so6, 21 - anybody offer a clue or two?
not done any rubber stamping and little paper crafts. Tends to be more needlework/painting type stuff with me
i bought an embellisher machine and do machine felting with silk rovings - yum!
good night ladies, 3 left and I give up!
that sounds intriguing.....bet it looks smashing :)
night ruby
it does look smashing - and you can use wool too
hi all...popping in for a moment: so5 = so4 + vowel; so6 = so4 (so + not dad) + brit g'bye
oh my ruby...if you've not disappeared yet...what are the stats for the S's you need?
brit g'bye?
pini, somebody mentioned a synagogue official earlier - i think that's one i need
brit g'bye = part of TTFN
wonderful ty pini - all so's sorted
down to 6 sh's
meanwhile, off to cook dinner, see you all later
I'm trying to figure out which one is the synagogue official...
wow...the first sh6 appears to be the Chinese name of the Gobi dessert (with a pl)
hey ho, need to go and do some evil jobs....son coming home for family funeral tomorrow and the cake/biscuit tin is empty lol. Great to meet you Glan, enjoyed the caht and will keep an eye open for you again :) tc all....might see some of you later if I can get back
take care welsh
and the sh5/12 are both terms for crossbreeding of two farm animals
...amazing what one learns here!
...on that note, I think I'll go make my shopping list...ciao
sh6/24?
Sh 6/24 sounds like the last name of actor John from "Full House".
thanks! Fireworks!
aw darn, I missed Pini..
jesse! hola!
ohhh, hello Eva! how was your girly night? :)
girly night was lovely. had yummy pho, painted both my fingers and toes.
aww, glad you had a good time! have my fingers and toes painted as well - out of sheer boredom ;)
*Feels remiss that fingernails and toenails are polish free*
in a rather grumbly mood today, though, im afraid. darling hubby is working my nerves today. :X
Send him out on a looooonnnng errand. : P
*tutting at Molly* ;) I can certainly empathise with a grumbly mood :( what's up?
well, firstly, he sees sundays as cleaning days. id rather clean on saturdays and have sunday as a rest day, since its the last day back before work... anywho, he seems to think that cleaning, tidying, organizing, and rearranging furniture are all interchangeable. i asked him to clean the bathroom (since i usually have to do this hideous task). he took everything off the counter and claims to have "wiped it down" -- if course not using water, sponge/brush, or cleaning products. says the rest is my job.
also stripped everything off the bed + left it on my side of the bedroom to deal with.
not to mention that they landed on top of the clothes i already need to put away.
I say, divide up the chores and each of you clean on whatever weekend day you wish.
grrr! and hmmm. not sure what I'd advice I'd give to deal with that, since the two of us are compulsive cleaners.
Oh and that stripping the bed and leaving it on your side thing? That would have earned him an earful of my Irish temper.
i so admit, he does his fair share around the house (if not more) but he is a tidier + reorganizer, not a cleaner. he doesnt seem to hink there is a difference.
he decided to rearrange the living room furniture, after i explicitly asked him not to. so i decided to come upstairs to get away from potentially losing my temper.
run away to london, dahling!
ugh. now he just came upstairs and says "if you dont like it, i can move it back" well, yknow, maybe if you actually *listened* to me in the first place... *sigh* trying not to make something out of nothing. just feeling utterly pissy today.
just in one of those moods where everyone and everything is ticking me off.
sounds like you need chocolate
i just need someone to actually give a crap about MY preferences.
((Eva)) s'alright, I think we all know those moods well. But sounds like your hubby is not being sympathetic towards it, which isn't fair because it makes you feel completely rotten.
yknow, using the bed cover we both agreed upon instead of the one he went back and registered for when i wasnt looking. little stuff like that.
oooo, yes that would bug me
pick a time when you are calm and both in a good mood and talk about it then, not when you are angry, this works for me
i DO feel completely rotten. its kinda no-win: either he gets his way + makes me mad, or he caves in and makes me feel guilty. *WAH!!*
otherwise I lose my temper or cry and can't say want I want to say
hi again. EvaN, it sounds like you need a hug. (((EvaN)))
exactly, Eva :( and yes, good advice, Python..
I find my hubby listens better if I say I feel.... Rather than You are.... not so accusing
and if hugs don't work, there's chocolate cake and bourbon in the PB
I think that the first year or so of marriage is really hard. Once you are past the courting; you have to learn to live with each other *for REAL* and that's often hard work.
hi folks
^5 nef
someone said bourbon....
hello dears - I certainly sympathize Eva - been there, done that, survived it - how? by hiring someone to do the chores we BOTH hated to do - best investment in a marriage -
oh, would LOVE to hire someone. cant afford it, though. :/
last 2, both sh sh5 and sh4 after the bundle of wheat, clues?
I understand, Eva - it was a sacrifice at the beginning, but think about what it's worth= how to arrange priorities, etc. it may not be impossible - even every two weeks
oh, things are normally quite fine. im just in a mood today. no one is going to do right by me until tomorrow...
one is the first half of a kind of elastic
reading back eva, first ten years are tough, but after that is is clear sailing
as irritating as these lapses are, think of them as compared to the whole picture. worth getting upset over how to clean a bathroom? if he doesn't do it up to your standards, then you clean it .. you say he does his share for the most part and, at the end of the day, what's it worth to you? grumbling, mumbling and having any thing either of you do grow out of proportion, or remembering that there really are reasons the two of you married :)
reading down the chog... EvaN has one finger + one toe? ("painting both my fingers and toes...")
hey all
hi stidmama
We learned that when one or the other was grumpy or short-tempered; we had to just decide to fight (verbally) but used rules: argue only about the one topic, no name calling, don't dredge up the past, be responsible for our own emotions, etc.
((stidmama)) cannot stay but will be back later for chat and to kick at the grid some more
it is not clear sailing after ten years. he lies. it's just charted territory :)
poof
welki, i know that, but im just having a grumbly day. at least i realize its a grumbly day + not a major malfunction.
hi stid
I have just split up with my husband after 10 years
2 left, but i'm done, happy babbling all
sorry to hear that glan.
my first marriage lasted 22 years
we were fine for the first five years and then i got cancer and he pretty much withdrew form the relationship
If you are sharing chores with me and you would like to clean the bathroom, fine. If, however, you don't actually CLEAN the bathroom, then you will be responsible for something else. No bargaining on that one.
it's taken me a few years to realise it was never going to improve and then last year i doscovered he'd been using evry one of my business trips to 'play away' form home - he discovered swinging
EvaN -- it's grumbly, yes, but this has been building up it seems. be patient with yourself. it's very hard to learn to live with someone whose habits are so different from our own (speaking from experience of 20 years)
sometimes a person is grumpy but not in the mood to argue. And that's okay too. Just make sure you are both aware of that (or he might start a fight to clear the air!)
Oh Glan, that is so sad. Just when you needed support the most. (((((Glan)))))
sounds like a very sad experience, glantarell. (((many hugs)))
Oh Glan, how terrible. So much for "in sickness and in health" :(
YAY python!
it's not swinging if it's one person unbeknowst to the other. then it's just cheating.
i'm thinking the two of them should forget about cleaning/straightening up/rearranging for today, get out of the house and have some f.u.n. (go bowling, go swimming, anything)
hey nancy boy! *checks color and energy level* are you eating the right things?
ues, that's how i flet - went through chemo listening to the other ladies telling me how wonderfully supportive their husbands were being while mine was playing solitaire on the 'puter
Hello Babblers
Glan, I can't even imagine how much that would hurt!
hey wht. ((hugs))
i have no desire to argue. most of the time i would just do things myself if im not happy with the way he does them. today is just not a good day for compromise.
I am stuck on three left. should I list?
Oh Glan, I'm so sorry he wasn't there for you. You must have felt very alone.
i can help if you want
no stiddy, i've got 8 left. let's help each other.
Hey, (((Stiddy))) :) trying to eat - along with the woman next door, I'm having pretty bad morning sickness at the moment, so a bit reluctant to have too much. How annoying - at least the woman next door gets a baby out of her misery :P
Hi Wht.
no stid; ask for clues
he is definitely swinging - it's all arranged via a website as if ound out when i started dighing - he's really into the 3somes etc scene now - and unbelievably he asked me to try again just before Xmas
hi all
I've already listed stid, and I have 79 left
EvaN, be thoughtful about that approach... my kids and dh use it to avoid being asked to participate in the work.
hey sue!
eww.
nancy boy, ginger is really quite good for stomach, it helped a lot with chem nausea - you can get preserved ginger in julain graves
stid what letters do you have left? i need 2 A, 2 F, 1 N, 1 Q, 2 S
if that's not your interest, it's not "swinging" -- at least in the U.S. that term means all partners are interested and happy with that arrangement.
eww indeed
It's also terribly dangerous practice as far as disease is concerned.
I need two S and an H -- two four and a 6
thanks Glan, will definitely try that. can't afford to keep losing everything I eat; need to know that I'm keeping the meds down ;)
h's are all 4 and 5
i imagine so - and of course i doscovered that there was 'overlap' between when he started and we stopped - but he assured me it was all 'safe' -
{{{{hugs for glantarell}}}} and for {{{{NB}}} - by the way, I second the idea about ginger - wonderful in tea
thanks LA. I was thinking that might be true.
if you have the car brand and two plurals, you need a h4
stid .. the h .. maybe 'fore and h***? or not a toyota, but a ho***
NB, how are you with Ensue or other such vitamin rich drinks?
((JBV))
Gads, Ensure.
have the axe handle h, thanks
hi stid {{{hug for you, too}}}
the other thing i learnt during chemo NB was that if your body has am lot to fight, give it the purest and best fuel so it's not fighting your food too. I ate vegan organic for 6 months and had practically no side effects of chemo
got it. coal carrier.
two s6s - sh and so
Ahh, certainly agree with that, Glan - I'm a vegan anyway and have been for a long time, so luckily I have a head-start on that one :)
thanks LA *looking*
so6 rhymes with tomato almost
okay, down to ONE.
NB, what's wrong that you are sick?
which one?????
it's a fishy four. back in a few.
i could use help with a words - have ad x 1, ai x 1, an x 1, aq x 1, at x 2
Never heard of that, Molly! I'm supposed to just eat whenever I'm hungry, since I reaaally need to put on weight right now. So trying to do that!
Will try the ginger. Thanks for the advice, ladies :)
I would ask the docs, Nancy Boy, if you are going to try ginger or other anti-nausea remedies to be sure there will not be interactions with your medications.
NB - The Plant Programme (designed for cancer patients) has some fab vegan recipes in it
ginger is usually a "safe" choice as it's in a lot of things, but some of the others might not work. And from experience, if it doesn't SMELL great when you bring it close, don't try it!
TWO AN words, both fishy
Sometimes if there is any odor it can upset your stomach too.
latin plural the AQ
regular plural the AT
NB...http://tinyurl.com/2dx3yzq
yep. firewords
will take a look Glan, thanks :) we're both vegans here so always on the lookout for new recipes...
an + third & first and vowel
hoooray stid!
wtg stidmama
wtg stid
my dog's tummy is making grumbly noises ALL day, and I don't think he is eating. I am a little worried. He isn't acting sick, not pacing etc. But ... *sigh*
the sweet potatoand cocnut soup is to die for
stid, i often have that problem with my dog, she has a very sensitive stomach. i make some boiled chicken and white rice to mix in with her food. it is bland and helps with an upset tummy.
Y'know Molly, something like that might not be a bad idea. Would probably be easy to keep down, as well...*ponders*
thanks for the help all. Now back to reading... *another sigh* and hope I don't have to run the critter to the vet.
bye stid
down to the p's
(BTW, if this verges on TMI at any point, do tell me)
LA, thanks for that advice. Will see if he is interested in that. ((hugs)) see you-all again tomorrow probably.
((Stid)) keep an eye on the pup! :)
bye stiddy
Nancy Boy, just take it slow and be patient with the healing process. {{{gentle curly hugs}}} *kiss for Frank*
*poof*
anybody got a clue for the sh6?
I like the clue that it is misspell of john s* from full house
NB, have you tried the BRAT diet? That stands for Bananas, rice, applesauce and dry toast, and is supposed to be the least upsetting for the stomach/intestines when one has intestinal problems.
Sounds like actor John (From Full House)'s last name.
we don't have full house over here
Sounds like the Irish version of James.
google it
Nef, have you ever seen a nef?
got it ty al;l
no, Glan, I haven't Is there such a thing? Nef was a nickname I got in college from friends
haven't tried it Nef (hoping I'll be moved onto a better drug soon so I stop getting this sickness)! not sure if different food would even help, but will give it a go if I can't get my meds looked at!
a nef is the most beatiful object - in the middle ages it was a grand gold or silver sailing ship on a stand which held the salt or spices
(derived from my "formal" name -which I never go by except on legal documents. They didn't want to use the "usual" nicknames for my real name (my real name is Jennifer; I always go by Jenny)
google nef images - i want to have one made for work because i love them but don;t know where i'd find anybody with the skill to make one
Oooh! I like that! :-)
qu6?
there are two sue - one ends with e, the other with o otherwise the same as the mesure of two pints
ty glant
hi sue. it starts out like 2 pints of milk, add a vowel and pl
got it, thank you
thanks so much for telling me that, Glan. I never knew that there was such a thing before!
2 left, both sh4
aren' they pretty?
can I help glan
one is a butter

It looks like a shortened form of the helpful creatures from Li'l Abner.
i have sh*o
The last sh4,5 is an Indian holy man.
oh dear, cultural difference Lil Abner not very familiar here in Wales
It was a comic strip that ended many years ago. It probably isn't familiar to the younger Babblers either.
indian holy man =shadu?
sadhu, sorry
first letters of sh**** cocktail
Actually, it is a title of respect. Similar to the start of the name for Ceylon.
ty ty ty wht *fireworks*
wtg Glan. I'm glad that something is working out for you today.
two nights running with help form my fellow bablers - ty all

YAY, suefrad!!! WTG!!!
ty all for your help
The s's and t's were v tricky today
There were certainly some s's and t's that do not come up in normal conversation.
On the positive side, it makes you less likely to take an inadvertante trip to the PB.
Anyone need clues before I go?
sm5 pls?
To have struck someone, Mag
The sm 5/12 word is s plus mo 4/5 word Magyk & hello
thank you! My monkeys must be napping.
yw, Mag.
Hi Min. I was just leaving.
I am done! I have fireworks! qu7/40 was my last word
wtg Min.
Hello wht! I'm annoyed because I wanted to save last word. When I entered it, didn't realize it was the last
I will be here off & on for the rest for the day to clue.
I have entered my last word when I thought I had more to go. It is a surprise but it has never been an annoyance for me.
But then, I never hold off on finishing if I can.
hi all
Hi jmc. How are you today.
grumpy
how are you wht?
There seems to be a lot of that going around today. I am fine.
Hello jmcnrick. Sorry to hear you are grumpy. I hope being here in Babbleland changes that. I am annoyed because I got my fireworks too early & now I'm bored
i hope being here cheers me up too
it usually does
is this a mean grid?
maybe you can write me a story min--you do those so well
No, I found it to be pretty straightforward.
No. I'd say like yesterday's. Some of the words today were also in yesterday's puzzle or more recent grids.
oh --funny how they group up like that
Well now I do need to be going. Happy Babbling. Enjoy the grid jmc.
bye wht see you later
I will do that for you jmcnirck.Hopefully IE won't quit like it did yesterday. Lost the whole story yesterday.
oh dear min! i hope it holds together for you then
Goodbye wht! I'll see you later in the chat log maybe.
any clues for ho5?
it's a car, Magyk
ho5 japanese car
again
Morning all
Yes, talk about being grumpy. THAT made me grumpy!
ho 5/12:The first car I drove was a Ho*** Civic Magyk
hi mag and nef
Hello lynxxx! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
i can imagine and reasonably so min!
That was there yesterday, also! Thank you!!
first car I drove was a 1957 ford station wagon
hi Lynxxx, jmc, and Magyk. I finished earlier myself and am sort of wandering in and out now
grumpy thanks Min. jmc won't say hello to me!
hi lynxxx
JMC, I read it was your suggestion that we have been treated to pictures of Richard Millhouse today. Wanna hear something funny? When I was in high school, I volunteered for the committee to re-elect The President. I laugh about that every time I watch "All The Presidents Men".
:-( I am so sorry lynxx please forgive my oversight
oh goodness it is my aunt's birthday and I forgot!
Hello jmc, lynxxx, Nef, Min and Molly!
ty you for the reminded molly--she was born in1900 and used to say she had the birthday first!
Don't even know when my Aunt's birthday is jmcnrick
it was also my childhood bestfriends birthday
Congratulations Nef on your early fireworks! Hooray!
i knew it because it was always so easy to keeo tract of her age! she would be 111 years old today
jmc - why did you want Nixon's birthday remembered? It has intrigued me for a year
well, like Min, finishing early (2 days in a row!) makes the rest of the day less exciting
because it is my aunt's and childhood bf bithday too lynxxx
mo6/24 pls?
but no one but me knew them and so many remember tricky dick -- who looks like a wonderful president in comparison to the last one!
a type of wool, Mag
OK that sounds obscure enough to be a good reason! good choice
goat wool
a mo6 sweater is itchy
thank you! I should've gotten that..I'm knitter.
Mag ma6 = what a bald guy wishes for
I'm a knitter**
lol mrloser
haha mrloser!
lil it is the only wool i do not find itchy!
a pardon?
lol i read that as what a BAD guy wishes for!
Have to go make dinner, but I will be back later to do a story of clues for you jmcnrick. See you all later on.
hello all my peeps
the eagles-packers wild card game is about to start
You are having a bad day jmc
bye Min!
hi LilM
I know Lil!! I'm excited!
ty min since i just started i will probably need it
hi lil
i am having a bad day lynxxx i was eldered at meeting today and i am in a very crummy mood
eldered means i was told i did something wrong
you did something wrong in life or you did something wrong in the meeting?
"eldered"? from your reaction that sounds like you were 'nominated' to do something you didn't want to
and did you? or just in others eyes?
something wrong in meeting -- but what i did wrong in meeting was complain about something in a manner that was considered . . . well. . . too harsh
wow. That sounds pretty harsh (eldering, I mean)
but every time i would settle down again someone would say something so outrageous that i would get. . . .welll. . . outraged
i approve of eldering other wise how can we learn how to do things better? and I probably spoke overly harshly to be fair
but by the end of the meeting i was seriously wondering if my being a member of meeting made any sense and that . . . . makes me want to cry
thus my bad mood
how do they "elder" you? Do you get taken aside and scolded; or what?
I'd think being able to contest an issue would make you a more valuable member of the group. People who just nod along aren't contributing.
it depends nef but today it was in remarks made in meeting for business
NB at least theoretically they were upset about the manner in which I was contesting the issue rather than the issue itself
it sounds like they weren't faulting you for contesting an issue... just the way you spoke about it
is that right?
OK snap, jmc
right lill if you take what most of them said at face value
i have been to meetings before and i always found everyone to be open-minded to all points of view and opinions, but i did notice that everyone prefers a "gentle" way of speaking
oh jmc.... hugs ! Is this church related ? Just back off from it... people will have time to reflect on their own actions, hopefully. I have witnessed similar situations... they usually work out.
dunno what I'm talking about really. never had a job important enough to have meetings, let's be honest ;)
NB meeting is Quaker for church and yes diane that is good advice
there have been a number of people today complaining of being grumpy; maybe it's just the weather (on the East coast?)?
You aren't missing anything NB
Hello all!
hi Jilly
and sometimes, lil, i am stronger on speaking truth than on speaking gently
hi Jilli
ah, well I'm even less of an authority on matters of religion. I'll keep well out of that one!
hi jmc (reading thru chog)
jmc; sometimes that's hard to take
being cold all day is not conducive to a good mood nef so maybe i should just get over it
Hi NB...long time no chat...
hi jilly
well, then go put on your long johns! ;-)
sorry jmc :(
Hiya, Jilly :) was just thinking - it's been a while! Hope you've been well?
Hello NB ((hugs))
did you forget your thermals again jmc!
Ahh..you know...life!! How are you NB?
Magyk! ((hugs)) long time no see with you, as well!
lol that must have been the problem lynxx! I need new silk thermals anyway
Ahhh, stuck in bed so not my best - climbing the walls ;) but life goes, can't complain really!
eagles just missed a field goal, so score remains 0-0
so still in hospital NB?
magyk, who are u rooting for?
Eagles!!
OH NB..What happened??!!
Bye everyone. Time to start the day here
bye lynxx enjoy your day
nah, home now, but had to be opened up again (long story) so very, very ow..and not allowed to move around too much, so, ugh!
you lil?
(((HUGS))) NB
oh too bad. i am sure it will get better eventually
ahhh Jilly, long old story ;) doesn't matter now - getting better and that's all I care about!!
evil bugs attacked NB's liver (is that right? I go it so wrong the last time)
thanks, I'm sure it will too :) and I have the good fortune to be very well looked after...Frank is a saint...so I'm not complaining! :)
I'm glad you're getting better! If I were anywhere around your neighbourhood I'd come take care!
I haven't seen you for a long time NB; but since I haven't had time to be here much I thought it was MY fault
Since it's been a long time..I will risk asking you JMC...how about the job hunt?
Hello
hi sadie
Hi Sadie
thanks, Magyk! just adjusting to living this way now. different, but I am determined to find some kind of a silver lining ;)
hiya Nef and Jilly
hi saide
er sadie
no job on the horizon yet jilly probably doesn't help my moodiness
*eyes flash right to left and back again* (what was i thinking quitting my job in a recession!)
hiya jmc

the week before christmas?? how do some employers sleep at night :S
He's a chemist and already has 3 job interviews lined up..he's out there on the east coast and is young..
the employers have their own bills to pay NB
Oh ya, NONE of us was very happy with the company. And typical of todays culture...he got an email...
help with the A inthe center column please
me too jmc
he was fired by email?!?!?!? that is inexcusable
yes... :(
oh thats just wrong
if you have to lay someone off or fire them have the balls to do it face to face!
ahh, think a***** bomb
i agree
(ashamed i cannot think of a comparable nonsexist expression.)
one would think, he left work with his assignment for the next day...then the email
no that seems to come from the corner A jilly -- what else do you have?
well i think that is pathetic and i have fired and layed off people myself and know how hard it is
any clues for so6 pls?
then it must be the aq combos...I have one

Hi Diane :-)
LOL! I guess calling in dead won't work for you then Soodle! I've always wanted to do that though: "I'm sorry I woke up dead today; we are trying to see what will help"

Mondays are always hard this time of year. I call it "long weekend hangover".
anyone here an expert (or at least knowledgeable?) about rice? I bought some red rice and some purple rice; the purple rice is an Asain sticky rice and has a different taste; but I'm finding the red rice has very little tasteand am wondering if there's some diffeerent types I should try?

for you teacher and for you parents out there who want to help kids with reading and word comprehension, this is a great site indeed! http://www.freerice.com/
I love Free Rice. I brush up on my French there.

I'll be popping in & out if anyone needs clues... going over to FB to catch up on Lexulous games

I'm rooting for Green Bay
it's 14-10 now, Green Bay leading, Nef
OK off to have some soup, night all!
Sorry, DH has the game on and I was distracted. Enjoy your soup, lil!

Bye Jill!
have fun, maybe the captain can finish the grid for you..
: )
Car EE is rockin' the Captain. Go girl!
Yummmmmm
WTG, Jilly! (I'm wandering in and out, sorry if I missed anyone's fireworks)
Hi Neg!
* Nef! Bloody Captain!
hi car.ee How you doing? A little tipsy there?
Nah! Just relaxed!
Rats. I was hoping Car would be table dancing in the PB soon. : P
sounds good. Sometimes I think a drink would be nice; but then I remember how miserable the day day always was for me; even after 1 drink.
I still have a full cocktail to go.....
Moderation.
"table dancing"? At least there isn't a pole in the PB; is there?
I would have to ask for tips
LOL!
Green Bay is really smashing the Eagles, aren't they?
I know! These playoffs have been amazingly good!
who are you cheering for car.ee?
The Pats....but in this game....no favorites.
I like a good football game. When the Pats aren't playing, I just like to watch a good game! However, I was devastated yesterday that Seattle blew out the Saints!
crossy and his boy are having great fun at freerice.com! he is devouring new words;)
Do tell more!
I'm not such a great fan. Being in MN, we cheer for the Vikings; but they weren't very good this year. So we cheer for our neighbors (Green Bay) if they're in the playoffs
I haven't followed GB or Philly enough this year to have a preference!
Good for Cross, Jr. That is a great site to share with your kids.
Fireworks!
YAY, car.ee!!!! WTG!!!
My boys just got home! Yeah! I missed them! So I am off! Have a great evening all!
Bye, car.ee
Anyone watching the football game? STRANGE re-try rule, isn't it?
I wish the NFL would evaluate all these odd rules.
supposedly this was a re-evaluation......
i had never heard of freerice.com before. Thanks for mentioning it. I just checked it out and think it will be great for my kids
crystalle! I didn't know you went Pro! Congrats!
ah well i didnt exactly....just after christmas dr god sent me an email saying that a fellow babbler had given me the gift of pro
it was a lovely surprise!
YAY for anonymous donors!
It's nice to see. :-)
Every time I read the archives, I'm tempted to log on at midnight and then post "FIREWORKS" at 12.05. I am evil.
You're not alone, Molly, apart from NOTHING could make me get up at six in the morning. Not even sweet fake victory.
LOL! That would be evil, Molly!
(babble's midnight is six am for us here in blighty)
I've been here so long that if I did it no one would believe me.
10 more and all s's!
hi hoya. Ask for clues (some are tricky, but I think that there are only 2 that might be medical
gotta be kidding me w sh4/6. that CANNOT be a real word!
hi nef - if there are any i absolutely cannot get, they are prob medical.
I know. I've seen you in action! ;-) Actually, I think mo** medical folks do that
last nite's was the worst. <hangs head in shame>
???? I don't know. I told someone in the past 2-3 days that the humerus was a leg bone!
ha - it was missing 'insulin' last night that was the rock-bottom for me! at least i'm not an endocrine doc...
lol, reading back molly.i was at the flip once just to watch gremlinn in action.the grid was about 165 words or so..gremlinn finished in 16 minutes..was so depressed by this i have never attended a flip since lol
at least mostof those speedy people are humble about it
yes, gremlinn is a trooper and does not rub it in at all
I can't remember who it was, but one time there was a young player who was racing with gremlin; they both finished in less than 20 minutes
Hello all -- haven't seen gremlinn in ages
hi jilli. How are you these days?
They both seem to have quit Babble -- too easy for them, I guess.
wouldn't be...what was his name, Chugga something? I remember him, he was super fast.
I'm muddling through, thanks, nef -- fridge conked out, desktop computer conked out, 2 TV sets are misbehaving.
ChuggaBOOM, that's it!
YEAH! That's who it was!
jilli! what's going on there? All of your stuff can't quit yet!
I have a new fridge now, and am pondering which new computer to get. Am switching from satellite to cable on Tuesday so maybe a TV will behave (too complicated to explain why I think so). One step at a time...
Thank goodness for my laptop!
2 more...
The computer techie was supposed to come this afternoon but it's 5 pm and so far no show. :-(
hya hoya!
hi jill!
Go, Go Hoya!
1 more....
I'm sorry. Babble was TOO EASY for them? Where do these Mensa Brainiacs go from here I wonder.
Was the computer techie a friend or from a store?
No idea, molly.
The techie is a resident here -- freelance.
I'm going to get rid of this icon -- back soon.
okay... *Maybe* you can excuse him; or maybe you can give him heck!
Hmm, depressed about finishing a 165 word grid in 16 minutes. I just don't get that.
Nef, I have to be careful -- he has my hard drive from the defunct computer and my external HD too.
fireworks!
My perspective on this game is different I guess. It's here for me to take a break with throughout the day. I have fun finding words. I don't care if I finish or not. It's kind of like sipping a good glass of wine and making it last.
oh-oh. But you can still tell him you're going through internet withdrawal and he shouldn't deprive a woman of her needs! ;-)
YAY, hoya! WYG!!!
hello all

hi, peri!
thx! and i'm not up till all hours again!

and nef - my last word, the so6/21 - KIND OF medical/anatomy, so im glad i didn't ask for a clue! ;)
see? I told you that there were 2!! :-)
i had the singular, had been trying the -e to pluralize. tricky one, that.
guess I missed him, I had fireworks earlier, just stopped by to say hi
going to play scramble now
HI everyone! how's it going?
hi all. down to four listless and going a abit batty
bye, peri. NB was here just a bit ago too.
hi lbd
hoyadoc, what kind of doctor are you?
hi Dorens.
gaspasser
hi dorens! i went listless today, thank goodness for good cluers!
*giggling with image of professional farter*
not a bad way to make a living....
well now i need some good cluers for three words... one m and two s's
LOL, lbd! I've never thought of it that way! :-D
congrats, hoya (I just got back)
thx jill
what do you need dorens
the m is probably just like the rh 4
yup, it was, thanks!
hi jilli!
This kitty is a .gif and is supposed to be animated, giving a lick, but it's not working :-(
i think i saw a clue earlier for an sh6... and i didn't get it.. had to do with someone who played the father on some tv show i knew nothing about
the mh is the oh backwards
the last sh is an sh4/5 and is an East Indian title of respect I think?
hi jilli, now i see it's pet day i should switch, but with two left, i'd rather just get on with it
think of an irish name, dorens. like a private investigator
i know what you're talking about. sh6 is almost like the guy who used to be married to rebecca romjin (add her hyphenated last name here)
i had that sh... is there an sh6?
got it, thanks lbd
go on, doren -- pet day is Monday -- I just changed
oh terrific.. will have one tomorrow then. now missing an s 4... sure i will find it myself

whoooo hooooo Dorens
YAY, Dorens!!! WTG!!!
WTG , Dorens :-)
wtg dorens!
hard to be really proud of doing it listless if you need to ask for clues at the end, but i'll take it. thanks
Off to listen to some music, Bye all. â•”â•â•â•â•— ♪ ║███║ ♫ â•‘ (â—) ♫ ╚â•â•â•â•♪♪
I wouldn't complain about asking for help, Dorens. Some of those words really aren't WORDS!
i totally rely on lickety at the end.
cool graphics, zooz
ok. and now.. before i leave does anyone need a clue?
not I.
no, not you, not hoya, and i doubt lbd does either.
i need a clue, but not in babble.
nope, i finished a while ago. but thanks, was hoping to find kje. need her email addy
hoya i do have to ask, i've seen you around a lot lately... are you planning on going pro? Dr.god really does deserve his little $$, and it's the best bang for your buck around
don't know if i have her address dawg, but we are facebook buddies... want me to give her a message or anything?
i prob will once my trial runs out (again).. its just too addictive
"specially when you have to change names too! ;-)
thanks, dorens, just let her know i'm trying to get in touch with her, need some professional advice
i think it was the first or second time i played that i realized i just had to join this, it was such a sure thing i'd enjoy it for a while.... had no idea then just HOW much i would
yeah, its just too confusing to remember all those aliases...
ok dawg. will do
and unnecessary.. i mean c'mon, $15 ??????
yes i know - i've been properly reprimanded.
i think i went pro shortly after playing my first game. sucked in like a vortex
sorry, i am an old scold!
i went pro after my 3rd grid lol
i've only changed my name once - wanted to see if i could get it out of my system.
I got after her the other day, Dorens. BTW, Dorens I LOVE your icon! Such a picture of innocence
am messaging her now dawg.. should i tell her to go onto the chog to find you or should i give her your address?
no way that's going to happen, hoya
i'm starting to see that.
thanks nef, more recent pictures betray a hint of mischief in the grin these days (he's 18 months)
dorens do you have my email addy? you could just give that to her
I didn't go pro until I solved my second grid. I had to know it was not just fluke
kep your hoya name, hoya, and go pro -- there's no escape!
don't think i do dawg
it's not just the grid, it's a lot about the community. folks here are just awesome
Dorens, i'll put it in my profile. brb
Hugabug, Smoothe and Yoink all talked me inot trying Babble. I joined on my first grid
I will second that lbd
ok
I went pro right away -- knew I'd want to live here, lol! Of course, I already knew Hetty, but she's inactive now.
my sis was playing it at my mom's before xmas and i asked her about it - i've since flogged her on FB for getting me hooked!
i first went pro right away but only for the game. I thought all these folks chatting away had no lives. haha, now i'm one of them! I remember hetty jilli, why doesn't she play anymore?
This is a very inexpensive game to join. Seems odd to me that people need to be sponsored by anonymous donors.
okay, dorens, it should be in my profile.
who is your sis hoya?
Is Hetty doing okay? Gosh I hadn't thought of her name in a long time!
hoya, there's a Babble group on FB
got it lbd... and it does look familiar
$15 can be a huge amount in some circumstances MollyL. I am glad you have never been there!
Hetty moved to Victoria -- sadly, her MD hubby has Alzheimer's.
i've sponsored some of the younger folk who seem to have money issues -- of course there's no way we can know who really needs the help and who doesn't
oh, that is bad news jilli, sorry to hear it
oh. I'm sorry to hear that. I enjoyed her
God bless you Dorens.
MO 6/7/5/6
So she hasn't been able to spend the time Babbling. They're in an assisted living place now and loving it.
mo 6/7 is a kindof goat wool for sweaters bleugirl
mo 6/7 is a type of wool and pl
btw, hi bugs and bleu!
mo 5/6 rhymes with gonad (and pl)
i swear i put that in before. i think babble is messing with me. a lot of words like that today! thanks
ok, all, i'm out. back to cleaning out file drawers - boo!
Hi Jilli. I am sort of plonking along lstless still but I will have to go there eventually. Hope you are doing well too
thanks Nef
thanks NEf!
Bugs, I finished last night, used morewords for the last few.
yw
good for you. this must be an easy grid because I only have 16 left and 5 of them are Q's
I have always used the list long before this.
some days it is a struggle to get to halfway!!!
most of the Qs are real
good to know. I am avoiding them right now
I thought this was a nice grid
it was a nice grid. I had fun with it
yes, nice ones are ones I can do without pulling my hair out!
so true, Bugs!
I grind my teeth at the babbletful ones
actually, I shout at the screen, like "Who needs that unword???"
there were some tricky words here today though. I had to list to find those last 20 or so because I couldn't see them as words
I use Lickety right after nbt -- saves a lot of frustration, which I don't need. This is supposed to be FUN.
LOL, jilli. I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT!
OOOPS! Sorry for yelling.
I love that Jilli! I aim for half way because I am trying to stave off Old Timers Disease since my mother has it.
evening all
sorry I was called away... have to go now. night all
I heard someone on the radio the other day, who said she took a screwdriver and pried off the caps lock key...
hi dan2. Good night Dorens
then I read a report that said doing the same puzzle every day won't help but I don't think that applies to Babble.
firewords - tx all cluers
hi dan, and whoooo hooooo
well done Dan2
Babble is never the same every day -- like Bridge.
YAY dan2bit the lurker!!!
How'd Button enjoy Christmas, Dan?
Goodnight blessings to Baby2Bit Dan.
It's the way I sit at the computer, kind of at an angle with my feet elevate on a footstool.
exactly Jill. My brain has to swerve around letters and change direction and remember Babblets etc.
DH needs his meds dished up for the week; so I have to leave. Take care all; and Happy Babbling! :-)
going to the list now. 11 left. It is my personal best
Oh -- Button's first Xmas! I remember my little boy's first too, and have b/w photos (he's 62 now)
Night Nef. Sweet dreams.
Bye Neff.
Good for you, bugs!
night night, Nef
6 are 4 letter words so I will probably begin to howl in shame soon........... handing out earplugs to everyone here
G'night to Nef and her DH
Hi all. How is this grid?
lots of babblets are 4-letters
clues available...
I have 3 words. just started..
hi red, grid isn't too bad
Hey Red. Relatively easy.
have you got the mh word?
i have it now!
I did from a clue you gave

hi all
that was oh good, red, for finding the mh
hi jmc

Quite Qommendable, Bugs ;-)
hi jmc. I wondered about that
going to check emails, see you all tomorrow
HELLO

hi kje
DON'T, jmc -- we've had enough of him.

Hi kje
hi kje?
yes, red?
lol i think of him fo**ly
the mh is the opp of the oh
it was a o 4 word backwards Jeff
hey kje
Why, jmc?
hi lbd
because compared to Bush he seems kinda benign
i have 3 SH words left. SH 6/24, and middle SH 5/12s
did you get my message from dorens?
hi kje -- there was a gas-passer here a bit ago -- or have you met hoyadoc?
good one today, lbd!
ok just monkeyed one of the SH 5/12s

And Carlee and I are soul sisters because "more chocolatey" is in our vocabulary. Bet chocolatey isn't an Enable word. Shame.
<-- still want sto know why jmc is fond of Nixon
thanks everyone. there were a couple of howls but I needed Morewords to find them all
hes a quaker, sort of...
i think it must exist...cus comes up does not exist in puzzle :p
i am not fo** of nixon but he shares his birthday with my favorite aunt and my childhood bf
Nixon a Quaker, so-called? Bah humbug.
It is a mystery Jilli. I tried to understand it last summer and still love jmc in spite of that mystery.
Nixon did a hell of a lot more then watergate...
his mother was a quaker and he was a member of a friends church
he did a few good things too
OK, then, jmc! You should explain!
his church decided not to kick him out because he deserved a path to redemption
no really, jilli.
means nothing to me if he didn't live his faith, jmc and I didn't see any evidence that he did.
that's good too, jmc.
I am explaining-- it mainly has to do with my aunt
and I think everyone has a "path to redemtion" even if they don't attend services
well bugs quakers believe that each person has an individual relationship with God and that we cannot tell people what to believe
I meant you should explain why you want his birthday remembered -- in the icon themes.
I would have admired him more if I saw evidence of his faith. I looked for it too!
that is why we have no doctrine but instead have queries and testimonies
he initiated the environmental protection agency
i think he was a very devote man in his own way and in fact did many good things for his country
exactly jmc! He didn't need his church to okay his relationship with God
SH 5/12 after joe 4/6
Not sure why JMC has to be explaining her Nixon thing. *Passing a shot of Jack to JMC*
he was part of the pension reform which created IRAs
it is a young plant Molly
well, my cousin's husband worked for him politically, which I never could understand
And he opened relations with China...
and kept companies and unions from screwing pensioners as much
Good to hear these positive things. Thanks.
I was not a fan of him, but my favorite Aunt was born on Jan 9 1900 and she said--I had the birthday first.
he was in office when man first landed on the moon..finishng what kennedy started
I know you are right, but from here, outside your country, he brought shame to the office of president and I remember that more.
Oh, jmc, I love your aunt!
or ensuring the budget didnt kill it..however u wish to look at it
no one knows my aunt so this is my way of celebrating my aunt's birthday
A young plant?? Okay.
he did that bugs but even less so than GW Bush
i was too young to remember him..
{{{jmc's aunt}}}
oops Molly. It is a young pig!!
and yes..i completely agree JMC..Bush did way more damage to the office then nixon ever did... just different times...different media...
I have to agree with you there jmc. I still am rooting for Obama
a young pig.... sh + a grain
He was left with SUCH a huge problem
actually my aunt said many amusing things to me: when they tried to poll her in an election exit poll she said: none of your business!
Clue, begging so I can watch Californication
in this era of 24 hour news... we forget things far sooner then the network news of decaddes past
Um...I wasn't asking for clues...young plant or young pig, but thanks.
what is young plant or pig?
sappling, sprout, piglet...hmmmm
I so remember the date he resigned. My hubby, Trevor, was in the hospital after abdominal surgery and I took him the news. My brother-in-law was also in another hospital, dying of leukemia, and I couldn't visit him because of conflicting visiting hours.
bleugrl asked for sh 5/12
No clue, it's what Bugs keeps posting to me.
Hugs to jmc and all the Quakers who DO live their faith. I would love to be able to say I am one but I am on a waiting list for a community to develop here.
poofing now. Happy Babbling everyone
then when she and I were walking in a mall in Texas they had a gigantic get well card for John Wayne and the people were trying to get people to sign came up to my blue ha**ed aunt and said you will of course want to sign this. . .
bye bugs
byebye bugs
and she said in her very prim way: frankly I can't stand the man!
sh5/12 -- think of what that nutcase did to the congresswoman in AZ, and change the seconv owel to the first one.
hahaha...tthat is like my mum..she cant stand the man and would say so exactly yhe same way

I just read your profile crosshair, but not sure what I need to do as a team member. What do you guys do?
that is the good part is once you down load the so**ware you do practically nothing
all you have to do is download a little program..it works in the background and does not interfere with what you are doingonline..uses up unused bandwidth
it is all there min, what we do is donate our unused computer bandwidth to stanford university on a daily basis and they in turn use that to run their super computers to flod human proteins

Is it running the whole time that your computer is on
it can be or not as you desire
you can turn it on or off as you wish
( I have not been doing this as much lately crossy..changing providers..they do not offer unlimited / month...and i am not sure if we will go over until we settle in and know what our actual useage is)
and remember,i would not post it or suggest it here if it was not safe
i understand carl
i do not have unlimited either carlee (60 gig a month) and i have no issues
but yes get settled first
I would love to do join crosshair, but I am leary about downloading so**ware.I have a work computer which already got a bad virus I had to get rid of. Is it safe?
that is what we have....but at any given time i have 2-5 teenagers in my house..xbox live...
i would not put it in here if it was unsafe min....
i have it on all three of my computers min and never had a problem with it
its safe minver..i have brand new laptop and its clean as a whistle
all 3 here at home running it too
do you think crossy would suggest a unsafe activity???..sniff
How do I know if I have unused computer bandwidth?
fireworks
yaa for jmc!!
everyone has min
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm at dummy about it.
Congratulations jmcnrick on fireworks! Good for you!
np at all min
ask away
you should ask questions
that reminds me jmc,you better get rolling my elegant is in 5th and hot after first place!!
I would love to post this on FB, but how can describe it in dummy layman's terms? I didn't even understand you layman's terms in your profile crosshair.
copy and paste my profile description
that is a basic a description as you will find
it is the folding or mapping out of cancerous human proteins
the basic description is that you give a piece of the internet you are not using for their supercomputer to use
to unlock the precursors
How long does it take for program download and do I have to restart my computer when download is done?
so that one day,we may actually stop cancer before it can happen
3 min to download..no restart
they use it to do research that can unlock questions about cancer, Alzheimer and other killers
just follow my directions
it depends on how fast your internet connection but not very long a few minutes
Ok, sort of getting it now, but I am so not good with technology! Got the website open in another window.
mine took moments to download minver
GO MIN GO!!
and on this note..i am going to run....i am tired..i want my bed

hi all -- back for the last 44
Hello cybernan! How are you doing? Welcome to grid!
crosshair, I believe you are going to have to walk me through the download.Do go right to download@home
How do I load the client like your directions say to do
Ok, this is WAY above my stupid little head. I'll try to do it sometime later on. Thanks crosshair for letting me know about it. I will definitely try to figure it out.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
bye min {{{min}}}
hi cyber
*!* ta da *!*
whooo hooo cyber!
YAY Nan!
hey all
hi stiddie
cross, I just managed to install the folding doohicky on my mac... with luck it will be better than when I tried to run it on a PC about 4 years ago
wtg stiddie
how are you jmc?
it almost sort of actually snowed here today (for about 5 minutes)...
i am okay now
min came bye with a very sad story of a friend of hers who 21 month old died of cancer
so min is going to start folding at home too
so I see, jmc. I hope she can get someone to help her get things installed. That poor child's family.
yes it is really sad
let me know if i can clue anything
I finished a while ago, actually -- just biding time until tom and the boys get home for supper. I have used up my eyeballs for the day. *sigh*
I hate it when I "think" I am able to read the letters and go three or four pages only to realize that none of it made any sense!
what letters?
you know "a" "b" "c" . . . "z" letters.
stid -- you mean when you read paragraphs only to realize that you didnt actually compute or retain any of it??
Hi all. jmc, I think stid means that when her eyeballs are used up for the day, she can read something but not take it in.
My brain can distinguish the shapes of the squiggles but the eyes are working so hard that there is no energy left to make sense out of it.
it's not a brain thing. I could listen to the information and be fine. But no one here to read it to me.
BTW, evening all. :)
hey Jac
hey EvaN
So I am watching some silly home shows on TV and waiting to switch loads in the wash.
Stid - I don't know what time it is where you are, but is it not possible for you to either have a 'power nap' or just go to bed?
hubby just brewed me a yummy cuppa tea in our keurig! yay!
What is a keurig?
it wouldn't be useful now. It's nearly 8 pm. So I am going to just wait until tomorrow.
I think it's a coffee machine?
We use a teapot. LOL!
Brewing tea in a coffee machine? Weird!
ahh, its not ONLY a coffee machine. it also does tea + hot chocolate. or just hot water if thats all you want.
this is pomegranate berry tea :)
Oh, okay,
that's nice!
the fellows are home! back again tomorrow!!! **Hugs and choclits for everyone** see you then! *poof*
sounds good
Herbal tea. We have more varieties of herbal tea in our house than a herbal tea shop. LOL.
I just can't resist buying them.
But, when you need a cuppa, there's nothing to beat PG Tips.
'Bye Stid.
yes, we love pg tips. i was glad to see that we can get that here. :)
jmc - LOL! I just looked at your icon.
My feet are like blocks of ice, they're even making each other feel cold! Might be time to go to bed and warm them on whatever part of Beloved's anatomy I can get at. It's time for him to get up soon anyway (3.48am).
glad you liked it jac
I'll keep my feet to myself until I hear what song is playing on his radio alarm when it goes off. If it's rap or something else I don't like, then I'll take action to make him switch it off fast (that's where the cold feet come in handy).:-)
If anyone needs any clues, they've got about 15 mins to ask me.
good use of natural resources there jac
LOL, jmc. I like to be 'green'.
I think we'e due a bif grid later. What say the rest of you? However, I'm guessing it's going to be something silly and smal like 43 words.
*giggle*
*big not *bif
i could use a large grid except for that work thing
A stupid, small grid that I can do before I've had 2 sips of my morning cuppa would probably be best for me, really. I've got a lot to do in the day.
well since i never managed to do it that fast it may well work out for me too -- but then no one much chats
jmc, yes, exactly! If I still went outside the home to work, I would not be Babbling very much at all.
otherwise i wouldn't mind the teeny tiny ones
well if i don't get a new job i guess i will work at home and get lots of babbling done!
Getting up at 6.20am, coming home some 12 hours later at the earliest, making dinner, clearing up, before you know it's 10.15pm and time for bed again. Only Friday night and Saturday to relax. I don't miss that.
mariposa is spanish for butterfly--isn't that pretty?
jmc - have you lost your old job or just thinking of changing jobs?
i have given notice so they can hire someone new
it was time to move on but I sort thought I would have someplace to move on to
Didn't you work that out first?
but my backup position is to go back to practicing law
no because i needed to give my board plenty of time to get their act together.
it will be fine i am sure
jmc - I'm sure it will be fine, too.
i just occasionally have a little panic!
Occasional panics are allowed.
we are in the middle of a recession! there is 10% unemployment in my area! *runs around in circles for a few minutes*
In the meantime, law can tide you over to pay the rent etc.
jmc - stop now and breathe deeply.
by the time i am unemployed i will no longer be supporting my boy and i can live very cheaply indeed
*breathes*
it will fine like I said
Imagine you are lying on a beach with white sand and palm trees. You have a cold drink in your hand and you can hear the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. No, hang on! You're probably going to worry about how much you spent on that!
lol no doubt!
i could move to Guatemala and afford it!
couldn't help myself... so enjoying the conversation
The Maldives would be nicer, but they're due to sink soon, so 'they' say (whomever 'they' are).
Hi Christa.
hmmm guatemala sounds safer then
hello jacula
hi christa
howdy jmc
please don't let me interrupt you girls....
i am listening to the story about how they figured out the migration of monarch butterflies
Anyway, if the end of the world, believers in Revelations are to be believed, the world will be ending soon. All those fish and birds dropping dead in UK, Finland and lord knows where else.
Armageddon is upon us!
*checks no**s* this is the 952 armageddon i have been warned about
Actually, it is all very weird and I've no idea what a sane explanation might be.
it is weird about the birds
jmc - I heard the monarch flutterbys story a while ago. Fascinating, isn't it?
and to think it's not even 2012 yet...;)
they had dozens drop out of the sky in oklahoma and alabama
oh is 2012 an armagaddeon?
suppose to be for those that believe...
Not just the birds, which were in hundreds, jmc, but also the fish in their millions.
it is interesting--my sister and niece went to see them in mexico
I thought 2015 was Armageddon time, though the Mayan calendar goes no further than 2011.
well i am willing to take care of a babble betting pool
lol
Oh well, if it is all going to end for us, I hope it's quick. I'd prefer to live for quite a bit longer, given the choice. Still got lots to do.
i worry not about the end of the world--the end of my job is much more pressing! lol
yeh.. still haven't checked every thing off of my bucket list...
jmc - that's understandable. Although, if the end of the world is nigh, jobs, money etc., aren't really relevant.
i am ready for a new grid
i will take that chance jac
brb
jmc - So will I!
I'm still reeling from when I hit 15 and wondering how I got to be 53.
lol jac
I've got kids who are old enought to be parent now, and I'm not sure how that happened either.:-(
talk about panic--I think my 60th birthday (this year) is going to throw me for a loop!
jmc - my 50th threw me through a loop. 40th didn't, I was quite calm about that.
how about a tattoo to celebrate your 60th jmc??
started my tatts when I hit 50... love them
I'm not sure what 60th will do, but if I get to my 70th (that's scarey thinking IF I get to!), I'm not sure what that will do to me.
not a tattoo fan
Ditto re the tattoo thing, though my daughter has ruined her lovely skin with quite a few now.
I don't like piercings either, don't even have pierced ears.
Step daughter is nw doing the piercing thing and will no doubt go on to have tattooes. It all smacks a primal tribe stuff to me. I like to be individual.
my boy has one on the back of his calf
have a dinner party and for every decade serve a dish that made an impression on you
my niece has tons of tats and now is showing some regret as she gets involved with mainstream media
that is a good idea christa
My daughter's leg cuff tat that she designed herself IS a work of art, no doubt. I just wish it wasn't on her skin. She's told me that should she die or have an accident, her leg must be preserved (like the Nazis preserved tattoes) because it cost so much money.
ick
all of my tatts are hidden by clothing... only I know they are there. And now you do too
double ick
:-)
i occasionally have thought about a tiny heart tattoo on my left breast near the bottom
but that is as exciting as i go
I took a photo of my daughter when she arrived at our house all dressed up for her New Years' Eve night out. She looked so gorgeous, I had to record it. She, having seen photos of myself at her age, said, 'I'm glad you took that 'cos, one day, when I've had kids and it's all gone South, I can look back on that and say, "That's what I used to look like!" ' I'm not sure what to say to that. Yes, I did look like that once.
lol i was cuter once too
i think it is nice because she is saying that you were a looker when younger
jmc - I guess so. My Beloved stilll thinks I'm a looker now, even though I can't see it myself.
well it is what he sees that counts!
thanks for a great evening and the belly laughs. have a great day tomorrow
okay i am heading to bed
bye christa
Anyway, he's up for work now and it's time I took over the bed with a nice hot water bottle to get the blood flowing in my feet again so I can sleep.
bye jac have a good day
good evening :)
hi, jmc. g'night jac
hey seain, bye jac. hi all.
hi there stid :) hope you're well.
i'll mention now that there is a possibility that i may be in Seattle for a weekend yet-to-be-determined in the Spring.
I am, seain, thanks.
still worried sick about the work for the quarter, but really motivated to make it through.
how are you? antibiotic course over yet?
took last of antibiotic last night, and am feeling much, much better.
YES! I know you were sorta thinking about a trip "anywhere southwest flies" so that would be super-cool
so glad to hear that! I don't like antibiotics, but I think they are better than the alternatives
need to make sure to minimize dairy, and to take my lactase when i do eat it.
yes, i don't take antibiotics often, but they do help sometimes, and this time they were a good thing :)
good idea
i got into town today for a bit and walked around some; had a nice dinner with a good friend. Very nice change of pace.
we are watching red dwarf this evening, the episode where holly turns into queeg and makes everyone work.
dinner's important :-D
hee. good one that. I like red dwarf
we had fake barbeque chicken with fries and green salad. I say fake because I used bottled sauce and baked it instead of using a grill.
i'm sure it was tasty.
Yay Red Dwarf! I used to love that show...
well, it went pretty fast, to be sure!
i had a vegan kufta kabob with beets, carrots, and spinach pasta
P.S. Hi, mama. =)
hi, leigh
And hi, seain. =)
hey leigh!!! *happy mama look*
it's available for instant view on netflix, so we get it through our wii's internet connection.
Of course none of this was possible a couple years ago... let alone 5 or 10!
living in the future has advantages :)
How did I not know this???? Ah! Soooo exciting! If I can ever get through X-Files, I will be sure to watch Red Dwarf... I was so disappointed that nothing ever came of a film.
yep. glad I have lived to see some of the tech advances, though I think some of the social things have gone to pot.
i concur, stid :/
well, there was a three-episode one filmed year before last I think -- which we hadn't seen until we saw it on netflix
it was interesting, but made me realize how old I am getting as I considered the physical changes in the actors! LOL
leigh -- are you teaching now?
No, mama. =( Still with Barnes and Noble. There's just no luck with jobs around here...competition is fierce.
bummer. I was hoping you could give me tips for my next student teaching in the spring.
Ah...wish I could. Seriously. Retail is killing me slowly.
leigh, have you seen if districts beyond your immediate area are hiring?
competition is pretty tough around here too, but I think that as the older teachers start retiring again (they pretty much had stopped retiring the last couple years) there will be a lot more openings
well, at least you have some sort of job, I think that's a victory right now.
I know that Prince William County, Virginia has a bunch of teachers retiring at the end of this school year, mostly at the Elementary level.
I've looked around, but it's hard. NJ is currently on its knees begging for mercy from Chris Christie.
I'd be happy to move out of state, but my husband just won't do it.
oh, that person makes me just so angry and grumpy.
he won't stay there forever, leigh (((hugs)))
Mama, you aren't the only one.
Haha, thanks.
ah, that makes it hard. Is his job less transferrable?
Heh...very much so. It's a source of contention between us. You see, he works for FYE, which I don't know if you know of it or not, but it's a movie/music store, much in the same respect as Sam Goody was. And it is slowly finding a similar fate to Sam Goody, only there will be no one left to buy them out. So I worry about his job constantly.
He's stubborn though, and doesn't like change. I've tried to get him to look elsewhere.
yes, there are a couple of FYEs here, and it seems likely they won't be around much longer.
that's too bad, leigh. I don't know FYE -- maybe just east coast?
Oh yes. Them and Borders, though books are still a few more years off from being obsolete.
No, but maybe just not in your area, mama.
could be -- or could be I just am not a "music" fan -- never shop online or otherwise (just looked up fye)
I'll actually miss Borders. There are several good ones around here. Maybe we'll get lucky and a few will succeed as independents.
i have 24 left. should i list?
I "listed" at 3 seain
Anywho, I stopped in and just had to say hello. Time for bed, though!
actually the folks in the chog get me hints at length and starting letters.
sweet dreams leigh
sweet dreams leigh. I am going to sleep as soon as the sheets for the bed are dry... *sig*
or *sigh*
well, i'm short a Q -- i have 5,6,6,7,5
found the 4
Goodnight, you two. Hope the sheets dry soon, mama. I'll pop in again soon!
laundry has been a theme in the chog today. must be something about Sunday
qu 4 babblet
ty, got it
tom bought a 3-led usb light that works really well.
that's good! I have a HUGE magnifier now that has some extra LED illumination. LEDs have sure come a long way!
yeah they have. Thought not far enough to be useful for trafic lights in snow
and firewords
this was a fun one.
YAY seain!
oh well, I keep wandering away. See you next time! *poof*
hi dc, yes I found it fun
evening, flosey
would like another like this one, busy days ahead
would be nice. i think i may sleep before flip.
ok, maybe see you later then
thanks. g'night and happy babbling :)

Awww, flosey -- sweet icon!
thanks jilli, see your lovely Dane
oops, it isn't!!
I hit caps lock when I want an a
should have clicked on it before speaking
sure isn't a Dane!
indeed, great story though
just looking at the small icon, thought it might be you with your Dane
I heard a lady on the radio saying she pried off the caps lock key because she kept hitting it by mistake. Not a bad idea...
hello
