phantom possessive pronouns in this grid
Thanks, Christine -- I thought so too. Today's theme is Abraham Lincoln. Nobody is helping sprite with these icon themes these days so she is posting ideas she hopes will interest people who are mostly in the USA -- to little avail, it seems. Now I must do my bit to support her efforts. How about others sending ideas, or telling her to give it up if it is of no interest? (Which I think woulod be a shame, limiting the scope of Babble) [
ne 7/32
thanks dee
jillibus there are others who alter icons : depends on the time of day if you see them doesn't it?

I tried mene before -- didn't work -- thinking mene mene tekel upharsin, from the Bible, yes?
Hey all. Dog ran away when I let him out for business... *sigh* how's the new grid?
aww... hi stid! :o)
ty Volleymom for the ho7/32 I only have six of the sevens so far.
Don't worry, your computer won't run away... in theory...
But mene is not an English word, and as such, should not be in Enable...but then again...
so sorry stid.
Howdy stid -- comment ça va ce soir?
hmpf. *scowls at dmf* I wouldn't mind, except it's an early day tomorrow.
There is supposed to be a sort of English language limit on Enable isn't there?
Hi Stid my dog chasing monkeys around the garden - she hates them cos they tease her
Yes indeed Doulgas -- and nice to see you again!
ce soir not bad.
LOL real monkeys, ursh? that would be funny to see. Here it's squirrels that drive dogs wild.
hey douglas@
Hello everyone! Got a new computer, glad to see everyone

I almost forgot. For those of us who see tenrecs everywhere but don't know what they are... they were in a BBC article this week.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/earth/hi/earth_n ews/newsid_9392000/9392070.stm very cool use of their spines!

thought you were referring to this grid when talking about tenrecs, stid
dee still need the 7s?

ty df
aww joey :o(
joey -- be sure to wear your squeezie thing on the plane -- my sis-in-law has the same problem -- I was luckily spared, so far (11 yrs ago for the op)
so sorry joey
what problem is this? squeezie thing? o.0
cannot find the other two stupid re 7's grrrr...
lymphedema, dfm
funny, the therapist wants me to wear the heavy night time jovi thing on the plane. There is not a chance, it doesn't let me bend my elbow, and that would be a bummer trying to get suitcases wherever. I will wear the light things on both arms and my legs too.
one is to go in again... another is French for one with a fixed income, last is one who no longer needs to work
bless you df got em!!
never had it nor know anyone who has joey... sounds painful from what I know though :o(
dfm -- it often occurs after breast surgery and removal of lymph nodes
not so much painful to me, very uncomfortable though, especially when my 7 inch wrist becomes 8 inches........ and my rings get stuck on my fingers.
I wouldn't ry to wear the rings on the plane, joey
you know, Jilli, it has gotten a lot of press here in the states recently. Sounds like someone has actually realized that it is a major problem.
I don't plan on it.
sure is, joey
and I know that I have to get up and walk more than i normally do on the plane.
dfm, men can get breast cancer too
Wanting ruminate and tumeric to be words
cancer? :oC
fireworks!
Hello everyone
Congrats dfm!
dfm, I had my second round of breast cancer last year. i developed lymphedema 6 months after my first surgery, had therapy and it was gone in about a month. I developed it again in September 7 months after that, but it got much worse about two weeks ago
hi Douglas!

lol Jilli
probably, dee, but I'm non compos mentis tonight
:o( my glasses just exploded
phant prithee
are you OK?
"just" as in, seven minutes ago...
Were you wearing them?
were you wearing them?
I banged my head while searching for the lenses but apart from that I'm okay... (both lenses simultaneously and spontaneously popped out o.0)
Good grief ... poltergeists?
I think one triggered the other to go... both screws look completely shorn.
I had that happen with my last pair... and of course, they were my most expensive ones... glad you are okay
what made them pop out? Did you sneeze or something?
expensive price... substandard quality here
does anyone have acue foir the lone C on the right side?
a clue, that is (tired)
let me think a minute
ci + abbreviation for railroad + 1st person pronoun
jilli - plural clouds with structure like your handle
I was scratching my head before/while they popped.
hi josh...did you get them back together df?
ty dee and josh -- nbt at last!
still need an re/7 ... the french one... clue please?
(luckily I had spare screws and screwdriver... not sure how long they'll last, though, since the old screws were stripped -- frame screwholes are probably stripped too)
I had to take mine back...
fingers crossed...
sammys -- add a vowel to the re6 before
I also appear to be bleeding -- scratched myself a bit harder than expected out of surprise. :o\
I've been seeing ads on TV about cheap glasses -- anyone know why thjey're so cheap, including all bells and whistles like coatings etc?
dfm - find a girl with some nail varnish (pref clear) and put a drop on - helps keep the screws in place
never mind... just monkeyed it
heads bleed easily, dfm
good question jili... mine were over $400
neosporin and bandaid...
the one major disadvantage of having claws instead of nails like normal people do. :o)
about $800 here (2 pairs ofr the price of one, haha)
About 30 years ago I paid $500 for some Itaian glasses that I coveted....they looked stupid on me and I never wore them. Since then I have only ever paid at most $200. I have lots of pairs of glasses to choose from and am very happy.
:~)
I just knew you were an extraterrestrial, dfm
I have no idea how much mine cost -- health insurance covers $800/yr on dentist+ophtalometrist (+glasses and other costs)...
well all I need to get going.... I hope you have a great day / eve...
*poofing with hugs*
g'night dee and blessya

If I get 1 word from the bottom e and 1 word from the bottom o, I'll be halfway and nbt, but I'm in dire need of a clue (and probably a fish)
ex5 - the leave in Latin stage style
*they
ex6 even. I should think before I clue!
Oh, that's only in about a thousand Shakespeare plays...doesn't matter that it isn't really English, does it?
If it's good enough for the Bard, it's good enough for Enable.
or7 comes from there, a body cavity?
Plus or6 - will you have fries with that or6?
Oh, and hello Douglas and everyone.
I don't feel too bad about not seeing ex6. But or7 is a perfectly prosaic word. Thanks, Haz
Good night, all...happy Babbling
You're welcome.
Sleep well.
goodnight Douglas
Hello Haz.
Hello, lynxxx.
BBL perhaps - this is n ot working for me - slight headache
I see jillibus has been complaining again about people not posting icons. Her complaints are counter-productive in my case. I hate being nagged at to do things which aren't obligatory and therefore will only change icons if I feel like it. I'll never be a saint like you, lynxxx.
Hope you feel better soon, lynxxx, it's actually a nicer grid than yesterday's.
morning all - lovely day today - weare going to do a 9. miles walk soon - thought I'd get some in cite
Good morning, Kazzer.
whats the grid like this morning
I like it, some interesting words and longer words than you'd expect in a grid of this size.
i am not doing too bad - yesterdays was quite hard
I thought so as well.
ty for the clues Haz - love the or6
good morning everybody
Good morning, Chrissie, you're welcome.
how is your Hubby Ruby
I sprung him from the hospital on Thursday as they weren't doing anything for him beyond making him drink his yucky antibiotic.
I sprung him from the hospital on Thursday as they weren't doing anything for him beyond making him drink his yucky antibiotic.
He's safe in bed and I'm bringing his meals, trying to fatten him up, and the visiting nurse comes every day to "walk" him and t=do leg exercises, so it's all very well organized and he is much happer
that is really good but make sure that u look after yourslf as well
I'm OK, but thank you for your concern. I eat treats and all this extra walking (stairs!!!!) is making me stronger
hi {{ruby}}! :o)
hello {{dfm}}, I haven't seen you in a long time
or at least it feels like it....
I blame homework and sleep!
(speaking of which... :o( )
sleep? I don't remember sleep.....
yes, what is this strange alien concept known as "sleep"? And also "eating"?
I buy myself treats- jelly donut, elephant ears (palmiers, here), tofu! (yes), while making poor husban all his favorite things
I love tofu! :o)
I really should be asleep now... night {{ruby}}!
back, had to check on husband
goooooooooooood morning fellow babblers xxxxx and lmao i just seen there's a word beginning with x - are they having a laugh???

cheers mitch and good morning to you too xxx
ty everyone lol
Morcambe and Wise? esoteric clue (for me, at least). GM, {{FM}}
i'll be back in a bit just gota go to shops see ya later xxxx
{{frog}}
lol ((ruby)) they were huge on the TV in the UK when I was much younger.
this grid has some niced words but I'm still not at half. Yesterday was the first time since I started that I didn't have time to start
the grid
I'm surprised they don't run them on Fr TV since they run that old Diana Rigg series and others....
I haven't had time to do a grid in 3 days and have only just started this one.
(I am wearing your mittens, FM!)
*grin*
oooh, just got an 8 on my own!
wtg!
Good morning everyone.
yay, sally!
Morning Sally :)
sshhh! Slightly hung over.
not our sally......
oops sorry *whispers Morning*
That's better FM.
I only get hung over from red wine or good whiskey. Clear spirits (any variety) seem to be OK. Speaking very softly
and what was the cause of the over imbibement?
Mixing my drinks FM :-(
ahah!
Oh you should know better than that! That has got to hurt *giggle* Sorry.
No sympathy, any of you.
Had friends round to watch Toy Story 3 :-)
LOL!
that's supposed to be the best of the series. Was it?
It was great. Some wonderful lines in it. I think my favourite was when one toy said to the other, "were you classically trained?".
I love that!
Some of it way beyond children. Also Ken and Barbie make an over the top and hysterical appearance. We all loved it.
Sounds like a great night!
and, pray tell, what drinks did you mix?
Shan't tell.
hahah
Oh don't ask ruby, Sally is looking a bit green as it is.
No, just a bit of a headache and a distinct non-desire to get up this morning.
perhaps it was the creme de menthe that did it.
poor sally. I just found a lovely mu5/20 for half
Is Spring springing your way FM? Snowdrops out round here, absolutely wonderful area for them.
mu 5/20? Looking.
the wild primroses are up in the fields and all the bulbs have started -- inches up
Snowdrops are out, crocus are showing colour and daffodills sprouting all over but not open yet.
I think it's arabic for a military style of dressing....
looked it up, it's a judge of Arab law...
ty ruby. Would never have thought of trying that word. Sigh...
oh and my rosemary bush is in flower - it is a very confused plant.
after years and years, my rosemary bushes keep dying
We use it for civilian style of dressing, not military.
Gingerly popping head above parapet.......... Morning all
we are having a real drought here, no precipitation since Dec!
Hello Soodle - come on out hun :)
{{Boom!}}
Hi soodle. Has there been yet another issue in the chog this morning?
wearing mu5/20 and shooting marshmallow bullets at soodle!
{{l;oves soodle}}
Not at all, Sally. I just lay low for a couple of days :-)
Catching marshmallows in mouth! Yum!!
you're safe here with us
Good thinking. Found the whole confrontation rather sad. I actually read back in the chog for once to see what it was all about.
awe a pair of ring doves are cooing away o/s - they must think spring is on the way too.
Bygones! Sally, I loved Toy Story 3.
I think that kind of hostility has no place in here
A lot of our birds are pairing up, FM. And inspecting nest boxes and so on.
I hope they're carrying my missing ring!
Film was great, wasn't it soodle.
the green finches are prettying themselves up for spring; they go very drab in winter
My fave sort of film, Sally. Lots for the kiddies, but plenty for the adults as well
I really enjoy a film like that, that has the layers in it that appeal to a very wide audience.
I was told it was very sad though, and I didn't cry!
Did you like Ken and Barbie, soodle?
you mean you don't remember using half a box of tissues ;)
strange Fr words in this grid: ci4/5, ti6/21, fu5/20 (2nd one)
And that evil baby!
it hasn't been on TV here yet, I am very jealous
I haven't seen it yet either ruby.
We belong to something called LoveFilm ruby, and get them from there. UK only, sorry, but FM could join.
Sorry, FM, I won't give away the plot :-)
Don't worry - have seen the reviews and many clips on TV
sometimes we get movies that haven't even opened yet, which is very weird. We got Lost Luggage a long time before it opened in the US
BTW, it's a fine film with Isabella Rosselini
Will check that one out ruby.
playing an orthodox Jewish matron -- lol. She plays dumpy ladies now, even though her face is still so beautiful
Oh my, somehow it has got to be almost 10.30 and I must away - supermarket will be heaving *le sigh* Thanks for the chat and back in a while.
my son said she appeared naked in Blue Velvet (an unwatchable film for me) and he had to look away, it was so awful!
bye FM.
{{FM}} I'm leaving, too, attempting to cook a veal tongue as a treat for me! Never made one before
Sorry - was on phone. Ken and Barbie were hilarious. But it was so sad at the end...., I got a little bit misty-eyed!
But surely it was a new beginning soodle.
soodle and her magic phone!!!!
have you seen 27 dresses? I've seen it 4 times now and I love it!
Iknow, I know. But I cry at the Little House on the Prairie, and the Waltons!
No ruby, never heard of it.
I cry whenever there is a wedding in a movie
It is a lovely film with Katherine Heigl.
Um, never heard of her either :-(
Will look at that too.
Oh hells bells. Doorbell, and me not even dressed. I'll be back later. Bye all. Poof
Grey's Anatomy?
Must just unload washing machine.
me too, *poof*
Back.
Ooh, just tried a Latin plural and it was accepted.
Hi everyone!
I love Grey's anatomy! I am addicted and I never miss an episode
Hi Brookie, was afk
It's a pretty good show, hi crystalle. And hi Sally, yes I saw you had to take care of the wash. :-)
hi brookie
All done, just dash and get on with the day. Any clues needed?

The sun is shining here, miracle of miracles!
Oh I just can't get them at all....been trying them for over an hour.....sunshine here too..glorious!!

Morning Jay
hi ay. is there a list today?
got them.....its the FIRST re word I need..re5/14
there is, but there's something wrong with it
God I can't type for toffee today - no wonder my word search is so slow :)
i have all the fs on lickerty's list, but it's saying there's one more f/4
Hi JayK....whats wrong with the list?
The army manouvers perhaps Flask (double cons in the middle)
oh right!
Try refreshing Jay
theres an f 4 army maneuver?
found it!
lol no sorry TO I was cluing the re5/14
thankyou FM...that was it!
and yes licketys list is up yay!
ok so there is an re5/14 army maneuver?
that em6/24 just makes me want to throw up
well sort of, it is a short form for a much longer word - mans they 'go look about and suss out the area'
I am sadly lacking in the word department today and in brain power too.
well how have you been?
good afternoon all :) No hero and no empiric... bad start!
did someone clue the re 7/28? Stuck on that one. TY
hey spritey! *wondering what in the workd...*

Morning Annie.
FM, why at the Docs, how are you feeling?

Hi everyone, happy Saturday.
I havent flown in quite a while, FM
hi Molly
on and off stomach bug and infection but seems to be getting sorted now.
hello molly
Morning Molly
Today is Lincoln's birthday, HB, Pres. Lincoln!
Sorry to hear that FM. Hope you feel better.
Somehow still can't see the re 7. just dense today I guess.
aw FM, so very unpleasant and energy-consuming. Yes Annie - see icon theme :D
FM, I hope you are back to yourself soon and no more bugs.
hiya all
ditto
hi movie my man
hello MM
Owl, did you start to say you were in NY?
hello nurse hello mm
it'll be George Washington's birthday in 10 days time
no. n
Good ole honest Abe.
Hey MM!
Hi TO and all
hello nurse
a day off. i love him, too.
I think the best film portrayal of George Washington was David Morse in "John Adams". The man was born to play that role.
hi nurse
And I share my birthday with Ol' George
This is fun Sprite. I feel like Abe Lincoln is playing Babble with us. : P
every time i see him i think of wimpy dr.morse.
Hi Sprite, Annie and anyone else I missed
HAve t olaugh - I am finding more words when people ask for clues
he certainly is :D
and I find the answer for them
22 April, movieman?
22 February Sprite
omg where AM I with my thoughts! Of course February. I guess I am longing for Spring. Am gonna change the icon theme for that day.
Oh pick a movie theme or genre for your birthday then MM.
have you made your oscar picks yet?
Howsabout favourite movie posters for a theme?
Hilarious. I thought Sprite knew some secret the rest of us didn't.
oh yes - I know which one I will pick MM - Metropolis.
Oh that's a classic poster
and an equally good film
Ata did a brilliant interpretation of it a year or so ago.
back soon......visitors!!
halfway!
how is ata? i never see her anymore.
TTFN Flask and wtg TO
She was on yesterday morning - has a new job and is just loving it so much that she hardly has time to babble these days.
later flask. ooh, what is she doing?
i have not even seen her on fb
She is working for a wild life trust as a marine biologist - which of couse uses all her skills.
good for Ata..right up her alley
oh, that is great!
bbl.....footie's about to start
Yup, Ata is one very happy bunny but Hobbit and Sily not quite so as they don't know where 'Mum' keeps going off to!
later, mm
bye mm
are both u words un?
yes
ty
Phone - back shortly I hope.
Yes, both u words are un
oh my, there is an x word!
stats on the x?
Good morning btw
xe 5,22
hello kaplan
xe 5/22
hi kap
Morning Kap. Want a bagel? I made them myself.
found the x...anyone like a clue?
No. Coffee and muffin thanks.
Sure, why not
It's a weird one, isn't it Annie.
I would
x and a man's name
do me a favor and just spell it out, I'm tired :-)
Hi Jean, How are you?
hi, jean
not sure I have a good answer for that annie
one of the menendez boys
How can it have 22 points?

bye Flask, wtg TO
just cant see ce 6/24? any clues?
Darn phones are such an interruption into babble time aren't they sprite?
annie, another word for concrete
well being from brooklyn, you should kow it. a type of shoes wise guys often get to wear.
The Bev HIllbillies went swimming in the ce6 pond
ce6/24 - the stuff that sticks bricks together - afternoon all
morning monkey
morning peeps
have to run now...
rift
LOL, thanks Owl and Glant
just popped in for a sec
usually I'd say yes, FM, but in the case it was the mother of our son's girlfriend... girlfriend is staying the night here for the first time, lol... her mum and I were feeling the need to chat together as worried parents, grin
hi glan
hi and bye lil*monkey
darn it - heading for the PB and the phantom wasn't even in the grid LOL
ooohhh
Hi TO
hi lil*
hi Glantarell
Hi sprite
Glan, you're ok for typing non-words in chat.
How old is your son now sprite?
my son is almost 15 and his girlfriend is a year younger.
15!!! good grief they grow up so fast but then again I guess when I started babbling he was only 10 LOL
lol yes! But way too young for any adult stuff, in our opinion... but then again, as parents you don's always know. So we are walking the fine line between telling them what we expect from them c.q warning them... and on the other hand trusting them when they say they don't intend any adult stuff yet.
Good and good that you had the chat with the other Mother
you know the kind of talks... "don't go the whole way yet, save that for a bit later... but if you do anyway, do it the responsible way..." And then we try to ignore the eyes rolling up to heaven from our sprouts, lol
LOL so glad I will never have to be that age again.
yes, was glad to have a talk with her mum and even gladder we are of one mind in this. Exciting stuff, with adolescents!
omg so am I. It was hell, grin.
I must take a break and get some lunch. Happy Babbling and see you soon.
bye FM, have a nice break and lunch, and see you soon :)
bye, fm, nice to see you.
bye FM, enjoy your lunch
so... how is the verdict on this grid?
Too many words starting with a vowel, my nemesis
I usually find those tough too
lots of adjectives
right now I am struggling with the en's, have the first two
that is good to know, I haven't found that many yet.
I have 2 x en as well
i have 5
wtg TO!
good for you, Owl
I found enuf, but no joy
but no c last column and no x, so it all balances out
so you must look at the WHOLE
ci 7/36
ah that is a clue for one I have, grin
Leaving the en's for greener pastures
were you requesting a clue for that ci7?
good morning babblers :)
no thanks, not for me yet, TOwl, I was referring to the WHOLE :)
hi Nanette
annie?
Yes, Owl?
nm. hi nono!
Howdy everybody.
hi gramma
that ci7 comes from the top c not the lower one
hi Gramma
Hello nono, gramma
hi gramma.
How's the grid? It seems to be a reasonable size.
so far so good, gramma
am surprised 'hitmen' isn't valid though
Oh dear, can't chat now. Words are jumping in my face.
enjoy the rush, gramma
go get 'em gramma
time to get ready to face the day. happy babbling, all.
bye TO have a great day
bye TOwl, have a nice day
bye Owl
bye TO. see you later
goooooooooood afternoon fellow babblers xxx

latin plural - thin wispy clouds way high up in the sky
ci + double cons. + vowel

Thank you- NBT
phantom: ferment
good morning
hi Mom
Hi ((Mom)))
hi ((Mom))
((Sprite)) & ((Annie)) hello
((Nono)) hello
why can't we have ex7, one who ex5s
maybe that should end -tionist?
I tried that too, hurshy, to no avail
that seems too complicated. i bet there just isn't a word for it.
if we have tr5, we should have ex7- they mean the same thing, but one works harder.
lol
lol
i've just decided i want the plural of hiccup to be hicci
sounds too much like a hicky
hick-eye is so different from hick-ee !
phantom heretic
hick-eye... a hicky in a very visible spot?
so what's the x, please and thank you :)
xe 5/22 x + man's name
thanks!
X + the viking
Ah yes Sprite...The Red.
and the 8's are ho and ... ?

Top o'the morning Dan.
good morning Dan
hahaha
hello Dan
Hi Mom.
good morning Molly
when things strike me as funny, i can't hide it inside and SQUEAK as the squeakelers do...
Squeakelers? That is a brilliant word!
uncle albert, "i love to laugh", mary poppins.
mary poppins... the tea party on the ceiling!
Oh, that's right. I need to watch that movie again. It's magic.
Seems like the grid master put a Valentine's day hint in the gird for the males.
oh no, i hope my husband doesn't get me an em6 for v-day
Ahahahahaha!
ce 5/14 plz
nor a th5/18. But I could make an exception for fi7.
How many would you like Sprite? : P
grin, depends on their stamina
c + The Red again
Oh, I love a sassy woman!
ty!
thanks Hurshy
That red dude is popular today.
=D
trying to figure out these gifts. :-)
bottom row grey!
who said they hoped their hubby did not give them an em6 for val day???? That's hysterical :O
Mom, Hursh's is NOT a gift ANYONE would want. Trust me.
((((Lil*Monkey)))) good morning
or7 isn't the valentine's hint, right? :-P
that was pretty funny, if i do say so myself. one of my prouder moments.
em6 is a word for something that is intended to make you barf
hurshy you ain't right, and I dig that about you
I am finding the combination of the or7 and the em6 a bit too much of a good thing...
lol
Har dee har Dan. That's not the or you are thinking of.
fi 7 and pe 7 are GREAT Valentine's gifts. em 6...not so much.
wb lil*monkey
morning to all my peeps... it is so beautiful here! Crisp & sunny & cool. I just went for a run and it was spectacular
Molly, don
don't forget the ic6/24
thanks Sprite
hmmm looking for fi7 and pe7
Well okay Sprite, if you like it chilly. Wow, she's sassier than It thought.
thanks for the fi 7/44
pe7 smells nice monkey
fi4flies. Sweet grid. Hey, playing with ice can lead to fi4 ;)
bittie!
hello little bit
thanks for pe7.
thanks for pe7.
ew i don't want pe7 for Val Day.. it makes me sneeze
those amsterda... what's the correct ending, sprite? for people who live there?
congrats Sprite
hey mom
but thanks for clue, littlebit
amsterdammers, in dutch.
welcome
you want a fi 7/44 then, Lil?
hey, and i thought my guess was gonna be wrong.
amsterdammits
haha
i don't know yet, mom
amsterdamners ;)
Oh, Lil could take on a whole crew of fi7. I'm sure of that.
my boss swears by saying "GOD bless america!" and i told him awhile ago to mix it up by adding "amsterdammit" to his repertoire!
oh~ why YES yes I do want fi7! They can dance for me in their boots
time for me to go. Good luck and ((Hugs)) to all of you
I have to be off, sorry to leave this nice company. have fun all!
byeeeeeeeeeeee {{{{{{{mom}}}}}}}}}

don't have that yet, hurshy
hi uusue!
yw...
hi uusue
hi teach
hello hurshy, don't have it.....
good morning all
dreading calling my dad this morning, he was pretty distraught yesterday as his wife was planning to move out
oh no! so sorry uusue
how long have they been married?
he's 89 and in rehab after breaking his leg, she's 85 and has emphysema, they've been married 35 years
i hopes i don't have hicci today
uusue, not to pry but why is she moving out?
is she moving out to a care facility, or moving out the way young healthy people move out?
hello jmc!
hi jmc!
aw, thanks jmc!
I think she's in a panic because he's not there to take care of her, and she's moving in with her son. but it's a long way away.
OK so it's not because she does not love your dad anymore? It's more of a health thing?
they've lived in NJ all their lives, her son lives in MI, and I'm in IL - nobody is close to anybody else
sorry to hear that uusue.... that is a difficult situation {{{{{{{{{{ uusue}}}}}}}}}}}
hard to tell at this point, lil - she wanted to go into assisted living right away, he didn't and especially not so far from home, they fought, and now ???
it's apparently jellens birthday today
but I'm going out late next week for a while, as he's supposed to be going home soon...sigh
that sounds like an impossible situation
Hugs for ((((Sue)))) That is a pretty drastic decision she threw at your Dad. Especially when he's sick.
it is; I hope she just needs a break and someone to take care of her for a while, and that things will settle down after a while
oh thanks for the heads up, jmc *rushes over to Facebook to post bday greetings*
how are you, Molly? How about some good news from somebody which we could all use!!!!
Well then, Happy Birthday to Jellen. Special occasions are hard the first year.
he's in pretty good spirits - more angry than depressed - which is good.
anyway, didn't mean to throw a damper on everybody....good news from here is that it is warming up! we are actually seeing some pretty nice weather for a change!
I'm okay Ruby, thanks for asking.
and happy birthday to jellen!!
so spring is actually coming?
could be! one of my friends actually saw a robin the other day!
*sending good karma to uusue's dad*
thx, lil!
can't tell that spring is here in indiana
I also found the x word all by myself :-)
no robins here, but the birds are getting their bright "mating" colors
dusting of snow this morning but supposed to be near 60s next week
hi all....clue for me6/24 please?
yay uusue!
robins are a sign of winter in texas
;-)
flask, kids in American schools don't want to learn the me6 system
measurement system, flask, in France
yeah, jmc, I'm in northern IL and it doesn't exactly look like spring here either but the sun is out and the snow is starting to melt..
thnx ruby and monkey
it's funny that neither fi**e nor hi**e is in the grid
Spring IS coming. Very subtle.
hello kaplan
just found an ho8, too :-)
Hi again. I'm off to the gym- bbl later. 32 left.
bye, kaplan!
OK i'm off to shower and get ready for my Sassy Babble Chick Date with littlebit.... bye all !
I love the ho8.

uusue, I tried that word with the ier ending NOT!
ooh, that's right, i forgot about the babble chick date - have a wonderful time!
bye lil
Afternoon all :)
bye sassy monkey!!!
hello silver
hi, silver!
Hi all can anyone clue the first ci5/12 :-)
person who quotes another?
hat the first|?
thanx lil'....

does anybody have the eastern c?
Oh, Flask - thanks for the advice last night - she loved the freesias!
hello norma
Oh great!.....am delighted for you....and how romantic...!
freesias have the best perume of all for me
Hi ruby ... is husband well today ??
my wedding bouquet was mainly freesia
I sprung (sprang) him from hospital on Thrusday and he is doing much better at home. We'll see if I survive it!
thank you :) giving flowers is a little old-fashioned, I suppose, but sometimes the old traditions are the best.
white ones, jmc?
I bought tulips for husband yesterday
yellow and white
good to hear, ruby! hang in there and take care of yourself...
No ruby answering your clue, I already have that one it is the one before that .... I'm glad to hear he is improving
flowers always makeme happy
the yellow ones have the best scent. the purple ones are pretty, but the scent is very faint
nothing old-fashioned about giving flowers!
I still can't find the eastern c -- monkeys are all sprawled about on floor
i can't find it either, ruby
must be buried under mine - don't have it either
((ruby)) i could ci 4/5 you many cases where my monkeys have also died in vain;)
yeah, got that one, crossy, but it comes from the top c
and extend that for a 5
and hi, crossy! :-)
oh
howdy uu
cross, i think that is the upper c
my computer has been busy folding proteins...
Hmm, I only have Crosshair's one and the lemony one.
i have one that is French for wax, but also from the top c, was missing the lemon, thx silver!
Silver there is nothing with good old-fashioned romance.....you keep it up!!
wrong is the word I missed out there....lol
remind me again why icer is not a word? who puts the frosting on cakes???
You're welcome, Uusue! And lol Flask...will do ;)
whats French for wax?
the answer to that uu is BECAUSE
what are the stats on the x
flask, it's like the words crossy clued but with a different consonant
and the x is xe5/22
thnx, just got it - now just need that eastern c
only words i know that starts with x is xray and xenophobic and xylophone :-(
this one means dry - people who garden in deserts know it...
found the eastern c - variant spelling of a type of thin white clouds
rhymes with church person
yay, ty teach, that was elusive!
ci 5/12 - ends with a vowel
those monkeys just kept working away
nurse just left, taking a break now
see you later
take care ruby
bye ruby
have a nice nap
{{teach}}
bye jmc
halfway, NB and NBS - time for a break - BBL
bye wv
nbt, thx, wv!!
still look for the cloud :-(
wtg uu
it's a latin plural, if that helps, jmc
so your name always makes me think of unitarians
that was the idea :-)
got!
oh cool then!
*got it
hello my dear friends

good morning, all
hi phae and trent
hello
hello everyone!
good morning
hello nonnie, phae, trent, etc.
hi nono and dorens
I drove from Montana to Michigan last summer. 26 hours of driving in two days - all by myself. Well, my little cairn terrier was with me -lol.
is there a list today?
did the terrier do his share of driving
yes phae
I wish!
the longest i ever drove by myself (with cat) was 11 hours, but it was supposed to only take 8....
He was good company, though. He's a good little traveler.
redwing blackbird outside my window!
i have driven from texas to dc a couple of times
whoo hoo dorens
wish there was a robin outside my window - then I would know that spring was on its way
that's a long drive, too, jmc
i drove from la to sf along the coast with three kids, no one old enough to drive. that was fun... not 11 hours, but i would have loved another driver at some points
2000 miles
I did the cross country trek from Maryland to California with two of my children, years ago . It was an adventure and tons of fun!
That would be fun, non.
i seldom want to give up the wheel
ty
did you stop at all along the way, dorens?
i drove from houston to calgary a couple of times too
oh yes tri. Hearst's castle... san simeon... big sur... and lots of scenic stops. then visited with a friend in Watsonville.. Santa Cruz. It was terrific
just delurking to say that I have cabin fever and have been itching for a road trip and you folks are not helping at all! ;-)
that is why i like to drive -- to see the country
lol fruit
well I'm itching for a fruit tart
sorry fruit
houston to calgary - now THAT'S a long drive!
Same here, jmc!
and back trent :-)
where are you, fruit? where would you like to go?
wow, jmc, you put my drive to shame!
How many miles, jmc?
i actually like driving,, as long as it's in my very comfortable car
I like to drive across country, too, but like to take different routes all of the time so it isn't so boring
hmm? how many miles when? today?
I'm in IL and most years in the spring we've taken a trip to FL for a week at the beach near Destin. But we started building our own house so this is two years in a row w/o a beach trip. :(
Hi to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
i like driving as long as it is a stick
We have done the same, trent.
hey!!!!!
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hello min!
hello lillion!
i love stick, but when the sciatic nerve acts up and i'm driving in stop and go traffic it has caused much agony
hey nonnie
wow - jmc - I just did a google map and houston to calgary is about 2130 for a total of 4260, round trip.
YOU WIN!
I learned on a stick but I prefer and automatic.
hmmmm.now thinking how much fun it would be to fly to san fran with the kids and drive to LA....wonder if we could.....
a stick makes it more interesting....
fun fun fun trip, tri...go for it!
going to Michigan this next weekend to help my daughter paint her new house. flying this time!
today is about 520 miles
don't like to take the chance of driving in the winter
I took a short train ride from LA to San Diego years ago and enjoyed every minute of it.
ahhh - short trip, jmc - ha!!
Have a good drive jmc. I'm off to read with my littlest. *poof*
*Hides in the corner. Doesn't like to drive*
of course you could... it is a terrific trip, tri. particularly if you have any friends to stay with somewhere along the way. On that trip we started out at my good friend's in Lake Arrowhead - down to San Diego to her beach house on coronado, then moseyed on up to LA.. and you know the rest
my goal is to see every state - I have 16 to go. Hawaii is one of them that I am most looking forward to!
can't drive to hawaii, though, unless you know something i don't
lol dorens
Molly...you can hitch a ride with one of us!
hawaii alaska and kansas are all that i lack
i have to say that hawaii was amazing... the best snorkeling I hve ever done
Oh my goodness...Alaska is a must see! I would give my eye teeth to go back again.
you can skip kansas, j. I've been through
i dove off puerto rico (part of the U.S.)
Morning, Babblers. Tri--I did the drive from San Fran to LA to San Diego. Great time.
Alaska is amazing! We did a cruise and land tour for our 25th wedding anniversary. Awesome trip.
hi cio
hello judy!
kansas is on my list, too
Hello CiociaJudy! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
what's up jmc
i want to do that.. .alaska, just don't think i'll ever have a 25th wedding anniversary
Hi Je! Why the long drive, if I may ask?
I hear it's boring, but gotta at least clip the corner of it so I can say I've been there.
Hi Min. TY.
hi lillion
what's up everybody
Hi Nonnie
that's okay, Dorens - do it anyway
where in puerto rico je?
there are a lot of mennonites there
Alaska and Hawaii are awesome.
hi lill

Hi Lillion
i want to trent... but need a companion who wants to as well... don't think i'd do that alone.. and most of my travelling buddies have done it already
we could go together dorens

I've always wanted to get to all 50 states too. Have no idea how many I need. *starts writing down states she's been to*
ok j... we'll work on that
Doesn't Kansas have like one of those largest things to see...like maybe the largest ball of twine or the largest frying pan? You could work that in to your Kansas trip and maybe it wouldn't be so unbearable????
don't forget the colonies
DC and PR
LOL Nonnie
lol, maybe nonnie
i am missing the northwest corner... wyoming, montana, oregon, washington... will have to do them on the way to alaska
Hoping to hit a new state or two this year. Friend and I are hoping to drive to Michigan for vacation.

Wow - I stayed in somerville once while he was going to Harvard. Loved it.
k - gotta run - byeeeee!
judy - there's always Chicago, where one could spend a lifetime
or if you wanted to avoid the city, Starved Rock State Park (middle of the state) is very nice
illinois's larget oak tree in the middle of no where
thought of that Sue.

Was thinking the BIG city might be too much for me. LOL
wow Je

we should, dorens! 287 is close to him. and I think i'll be alone in the house for at least a few days before he gets home from rehab
only a little more than 2 hours from my house i think

maybe we could meet somewhere in NJ?
sigh i may need to actually focus on this meeting in a minute
yuk to the meeting on a weekend!!
I am on facebook, contact info in my profile here
I am up to 95 words. Will be back later to finish. Bye!

sue- am watching/listening to "memory"... it is just too funny
for anyone close to my age or olderhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz SaoN2LdfU
(i actually went shopping yesterday and left all sort of stuff in the car overnight, totally forgot to bring them in)
Isn't that a hoot? I feel that way all too often these days!
good morning and thanks, dorens - that was so perfect!
hi jbv
yes isn't it jb? sue posted it, and she's going to be in nj for a few weeks soon. another meetup coming our way
That's very funny Dorens. I could relate to the "what did I walk in this room for?"
oh, good, keep me posted
thank sue for it
I am so there, Dorens, Molly and all
happens to me all the time
hi beach
hiya jmc
so nice to know we aren't alone in this. Did anyone else ever put the milk away in the cabinet where you keep the cereal?
don't keep milk except in seal boxes in cabinet
I am all about walking into a room to do one thing, then see something else, totally forget the first thing, then do something else, and so on, thoughout the house, until I get back to point A... wondering why I didn't do the first thing I set out to do
i thought that was an alltime low when i did it.... buti think worse things have happened since, I just can't remember what they are. or whether or not I took my gingko biloba today?
Beach, I call that "chaining".
how about leaving the key in the front door lock overnight...
oh j, i don't keep it in the cabinet. I have no idea why i did that, and when i was looking for the milk the next day I was totally flummoxed
lol, good name for it, Molly
I did remember to lock from the inside :)
afternoon all - just got back from a 9.5 mile walk - nearly killed me bu not quite
hi Kazzer
hi, kazzer!
jb, if i didn't come in through the garage, i'm sure i'd have done that many times... i do at my office all the time. hi kaz
interesting grid today
Wow Kaz. The only time I ever walked that long was for a walk-a-thon.
catch you later, haven't had breakfast yet -
My favorite thing, lately, is to get something in my mind that I need to pick up at the store, then pick it up on, like, three successive store visits
k. i'm going for my latte.. definitely need caffeine
*opens cabinet full of stock*
sigh - want to call my dad but just realized I left my cell phone in my office...
lol, exactly, jmc
good morning/afternoon, everyone :)
hi nan
bbl must meet
whips up double latte for doren
bye, jmc!
Getting excited about our next trip now -- have booked accommodatios in Salusbury, Eastboure and all of our flights :)
Getting excited about our next trip now -- have booked accommodatios in Salusbury, Eastboure and all of our flights :)
oops - big delay in the chog
I don't know where salusbury is cyber.. but it sounds exciting
it's in Wiltshire, UK -- quite close to Stonehenge
oh.. that's really cool.. have you bought your druid garb yet?
So Beach, how many jars of mayo do you have? : P
Eastbourne is in Sussex and in between the two stops, we will be doing a river cruise from Moscow to St Petersburg
Sounds like a lovely trip Nan. Have fun!
No Druid garb -- we went to stonehenge last trip and wanted to explore further south this time
sounds like a lot of fun! also the river cruise - I've been to Moscow but not to St. Petersburg. Should be lovely!
ty Molly -- it is a ways off - June 1, but it's nice to have everythig settled
ooh, white nights, too, nan - the sun hardly sets up there at that time of year!
I'm not sure what we will cover, but I think Kazzer lives somewhere close to the south coast, so maybe she willl have some ideas for me.
does anyone have teh ce 6/24?
what are you coming over for Nan - my bor in law lives near to Sailsbury
yes -- it is concrete, ruru
ce6 - like concrete
ce 6 - stone glue
thx, nan and dan!
clue for pr7, please
don't have it yet annie
Cluster cluing!
oh crap I had that..
thanks.. put it in the wrong spot.. now I found the 5
just found my dad's broken bone in the grid...
just got bumped
ci7?
bone in arm? leg? do tell.
leg.
ty got it.
clue for x word plz.
Annie, pr7 suffix meaning before + autoim**** system.
anyone have the ci 7 please
nm got it. never heard of it but monkeys work.
xe5, means dry. sounds sort of like the copy machine.
ty molly
ci 7: sounds a little about the big tank water is stored in
*beginning of a communiy and finishing with a hooked chicken
got it.. thank you nan
Fishing with a hooked chicken??? Got the word, just don't get the clue.
there is quite a high proportion of long words in the grid today
chicken with a hook in it
is lickety u?
anyone have the first ci 5/12?
Yeah, but see Nan, to me, that's crabbing. : P
yep mkg
yes mkg
i still don't have the ci7 and am befuddled by the hooked chicken
back with latte, cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg (do I sound like crossy?)
think of a cloud cyber
ci + double consonant + vowel?
need some ideas for places to see along the south UK coast, sometime, Kazzer
dunno, dorens, but the latte sounds yummy!
*tosses some bacon doren's way* Now you do
just went back in chog... i went to salisbury... nice cathedral there, good b & b and stonehenge, of course
Yes Dorens, exactly like Cross. Where's your bacon?
haha.. was waiting for someone to do that ru... of course!
ty molly
the bacon is in the bacon marmalade which apparently crossy still hasn't tried. and it is good.. you can google it... and buy it, ross is my daughter's food friend
any clues for o words please?
and you too molly.. but sometimes crossy describes other foods he is making/has made, always in delicious detail
body opening mkg
or7 is an opening
Sue, the ci7 is ci + a reverend might refer to his male congregation as bre*****
what sort of thing do you like nan. I could email you some stuff
is this grid tough for others? i can't believe i haven't made it half way yet... but then again, i have done more chatting than usual
em 7, please?
thx, molly! I think I tried all those letters in every possible order except that one!
no dict. resumts for the ci 7 word. wonder where it came from.
from the ether mkg
we like poking around small villages -- checking out the integrity of the local pubs - shops that sell local crafts, thing of historical interest.
jmc it is a chemical?
lol these guys at this meeting want local meetings in control unless they disagree with the local meeting
you are staying in ssalisbury nan?
ci7: a Renaissance stringed instrument like a guitar with a flat pear-shaped body. Variant spelling.
is what a chemical mkg?
We will be based in Salisbury for 10 days and in Eastbourne for 9 days. cybernan@gmail.com
nm.
when i first went to england and had little time, salisbury was recommended as having one of the nicest cathedrals to visit, and of course its proximity to stonehenge worked
well of course je, isn't that logical?
jmc i mean you said the ci 7 was from ether. so ether is a chemical so is ci a chemical too?
oh no i meant the ci7 comes from the internet ether
i knew that!
cybernan I am 17 miles east of Salisbury
one of the reasons we wanted to stay in Salisbury -- found a flat to rent in the old city centre. Also it seems to me quite central to the area.
hello all
uusue gave meaning. ty.
????
it's a lovely town
hi, kallia!
and so is Winchester. about 15 miles away from me
Wow, Kalia -- please e-mail me -- maybe we could meet somewhere for tea one day!
you can go up to the cotswolds from there too,, and even oxford, i think
when arae you coming?
it would be great to met up for tea :)
yep Oxford is very doable from Salisbury
We will be in Salisbury June 3-11 (excluding arrival and departure dates).
great, I have your email addy now
i am jealous
any clues for o words? please?
i live in md. too. but far from eastern shore.
We've been to Stonehenge and to Oxford, but not to Winchester - how big a city is it? Hubby doesn't like driving in the really large centres as we are not used to the left hand drive and don't need to contend with lots of traffic!
or7/44 body opening
you wont recognise me from mine so I will put babble in the title
ty got it.
or6/21 o + double consonant + frozen water
it's about the same size as Salisbury, has a wonderful cathedral and is where King Arthur rule from :)
or + white grain food
ty got it. o is grey.
ho7?
nan - let me think about it. Wincehster is good - not sure if they have a park and ride but if they do its worth using. there is a lovely cathedral and King Arthurs round table
nm
yep has a park and ride Kazzer
i found it
sigh . . . have a brass rubbing I bought in Salisbury while hitching thru England around 1970 :-)
wanna share?
our Cathedrals are wonderful
ho6 sounds like a big stream of rushing water
a prostitute lets an apartment
good idea kallia -- I will reply with an alternate e-mail that I use regularly, but do not want to publish on the internet! We are wintering in California at the moment returning to Canada at the end of March.
Sorry ho7
i have brass rubbings i made there back in 1984 - finally got around to framing them last year
nice clue ru
oohhh, usually preceded by "ab"
ty moly didn't have that one
it is in this case..with that clue une..lol
:-D
ho7 describing a terrible scene
My friend went out to fill the birdfeeder yesterday, slipped on the ice and spilled a couple of quarts of birdseed... the birds out there this morning are just mazing... i've never seen so many... it is almost scary
oops.... that was the 8 sorry
sounds great -- will definitely have to put Winchester on our list -- please let me know if you get any info about the park and ride - that sounds like the best option.
ah, ty diane

have emailed you cybernan
just a wee bit!!
Also there might well be some good national trust properties about. Do you like Zoos? marwell is a good place to visit as well
I think I know what it is kazzer
Loads of great places for days out...where are you Kazzer?
thanks kallia. Kazzer - are you close enough to join Kallia and I for tea in Salisbury or somewhere else nearby?
I am in Chard - about 50 miles from Salisbury. Hubby is quite happy to drive me up and do other stuff
that would be great
Salisbury would be ideal for me -- hubby does enjoy the occasional day to himself! Does your hubby like beer or scotch -- maybe we should make an introduction!
maybe we could tempt zooz to cross the water too?
it will be fun to meet other babblers
he is a little bit shy with folks but we can try it out - I think it will be wonderful
well we know we have at least one thing in common lol
getting more and more jealous. next you're going to find haz and fmitch, and all the rest of them
fmitch isn't that far away I think
Pictures folks. Take lots of pictures. Sounds like a wonderful gathering.
haz a little more difficut..she is in Ireland
lol - I am here, well virtuall but no that far away from Salisbury.
thought you were quite close......
:)
That's great FMitch -so glad I said something -- it will be fun to get together and I will leave it to you "locals" to find a location! At least, we have lots of time
so you up for a cuppa in Salisbury FM?
when are you going nan? maybe now I will plan a trip to UK just for this event!
lol Dorens, that would be great!
Help on re5.22 -- it's bound to be something simple...help please?
Would be fun to meet up with more babblers and perhaps we could entice Haz over too and Ata.
lol Dorens -- we fly out of Vancouver on June 1 arriving at Heathrow on June 2
maybe we could at that
ah.. i can't do that... school isn't out until june 27... such a shame
Haz's daughter is not getting married until August so she might want a little break before then.
you mean you can't ask for extra leave for this momentous occasion Dorens?
pr 7?
someone is at my door, so will bbl :)
Hello ruru!
oh I am sure she will want to drag herself away from wedding preps!
y'know, if they take my job out of the budget again, then i just might take off a week and do it!

god still have an accountants mind////only thing I could think of at first was 'impress' system lol
noting to do with accountancy for 10 years either
re5/22 = re + stir things up in a bowl (spelt wrong)
oh thanks fm.. that was driving me crazy

Just a friend coming to pick up a jacket she left behind.

Do you want clues, pugmama?

ci7 is an oddly spelled stringed musical instrument
hello, i keep wandering off...
ci7 has the same ending as br******, something a preacher might say
TO 3 times in one day, good to see you again!
Hi TO, welcome back!
stats for the lone C?
I must be dense
lone c is ci5/12
I'm still needing help on ci7, also.

ty Uusue
glad it's not just me brooke
Of course, I'm dense on a daily basis. :-)
Awe hun, it is hard. hugs.
and i have only eaten cake and cheesy poof today.
Why is that, TO?
ci7 = ci + bre**** (members of a church?)
beacuse i am in my father's house and cannot cook and do not really kno where to go to eat around here

hi pav
Hey Pav!
Hi pav!
one lone X...hmmm , I'm brainbless this morning...
re 5/14 ??
I'll give you a clue, pav. It starts with an X. That's as far as I've gotten with it too!
Good afternoon, Babble buds! X + first name of famous viking **** The Great.
x + boy's name..
judi good clue but change the K to another letter for his name ;)
thanks for the x folks! and hi Brookie!
hi judi
Hi Judi!
Lovely day in Newark, eh, Judi?
Right you are, Cosdem.
Hi, Judi and Pav!
but great clue
have or7, clue for the other please?
re5/14 = soldiers do this to check out the lay of the land.
Hi, Brookie. Oooh. A fellow Newarkian! Yes, tis a loverly day. We had breakfast at Sinclairs. Well, more like brunch considering the slothful hour we were there.
Haven't been to Sinclairs yet. Is it nice?
or 7 - opening (like in your body)
thanks fm
Best breakfast joint in town. We been going there for about ten years. I highly recommend it. How long have you been in Newark?
yes it is. does someone have a clue for the other o words?
yw cos :)
or + white grainy food
or6 - take the or7 and scrunch it a little
ty, cos.
13 years in the general area. I now live within walking distance of Christiana Mall.
Gee, you may know my husband, Brookie. He was involved in Toastmasters for a while about a year ago. Work demands have put the kibosh on his attendance lately, though.
And I work in downtown Newark.
Wow! What a small world. Where do you work? I'll pop in and say hello. We live about a mile outside of town.
I joined Toastmasters less than a year ago, so I might have missed him, sadly!
I work at Unique Impressions on N. College Avenue (between Main Street and Cleveland Ave.).
i have a general question. one of my dad's friends lief ta message on his machine last week because he had not heard from him. he is homebound so not in network with other friends. what should we do? we do not kno any of his children.
Just noticed that the last or7 is used in the production of pe7/52!
Very cool! I will remember to stop in next weekend!
You should let him know TO - hard as it might be.
o.O i don't have the pe7/52 but that sounds...
lol to
Although I don't work there on the weekends. Drop me a line at delawarebrookie@gmail.com, and maybe we could catch up for lunch sometime?
...interesting
I apologize TO, but I gather your father passed away? or maybe not as serious?
i don't have it either, and am wondering how that would work (using an or7 to produce something - maybe some kind of extrusion?)
yes, pav. right before christmas.
theres only one or7
gooooooooood evening fellow babblers xxx
Will e-mail you, Brookie.
oh, TO, that is tough.
hey froggy!
fireworks!
Sounds great, Judi.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad, TO. ((((HUGS))))
Congrats, cos!
hiya temple xxx
Hi frogface!
I'm sorry to hear that.
YAY, COS!!!!
hi brookie xxx
yay cos!
anyone need clues b4 i go?
ty pav, judi.
ooh cos finished!
Hi kids. I was here several hours ago and did not like this grid. Now that I am back I am reminded that I still do not like this grid.
I am going crossed eyed - I meant the or6 in my convoulted reference earlier.
At least your memories are grounded in reality, scrabs.
Greetings Scrabs!
Hiya, Scrabbs!
years ago, my then closest friend's dad also passed a way right after Christmas. He was home in a neighboring state and didn't tell me until after the new year, when I asked how his holiday went. I was rather miffed, but understood he didn't want to deal with contacts at the time. You should feel some reassurance your dad has many friends who take the time to call, even when they aren't 'in the loop'.
I was crosseyed yesterday on that awful grid
Just for this situation, Brooke. Reality is overrated.
LOL, scrabs.
hello everybody
hey scrabs!
Hi ruby!
Hi Ruby
hiya ruby xxx
Hey rubes
Hiya, Ruby!
hi ruby!
Hi ruby
Hi Screabbler
oops Scrabbler
Owl, the same thing happened after my friend's father died. She broke the news gently. The more stories she heard about her dad the better she felt.
hi boo!
ugh! now just the lone right C for NBT... I may just move on...I do need to get going to watch "The Eagle" and then cafe duty at church...
Hi Boo
right c - alternate spelling for thin white clouds
yesterday was the first time I haven't played since I started. Does that mean I don't have a life?
I found or7 all by myself! *proud Babble moment*
PAV add a cons to the ci4
Your life is correctly prioritized--Babble is high-ranking.
thank yo, scrabs!
clue for ex 6 please
leave the stage
lol Scrabs and on that note I shall pottle off.
...does that mean I have a life (finally) when I haven't been online playing Babble, or just too much work and no play?
ruby: if you missed yesterday, you need to get your priorites in order.
bye FM
bye bye, fm! x
yesterday was a bear (sorry boo)
Happy Babbling all and see you anon.
I think I did 50 flights of stairs
its ok
Missing a day of Babble is not a confession to be made without consideration of the ramifications.
yay NBT! thanks for the help...when I come back this eve I won't have to worry as much...
uh oh, are you going to tell on me? back to jr high!
ciao all! happiness to the finishers!
later pav
bye pac

Unless haz sneaks in soon or reviews the archives, you are safe, Ruby. This is warning #1 though.
clue for 1st pr 6 pls?
clue for 1st pr 6 pls?
hi/bye sue, ruby, scrabs
my only pr6 is one who does pr5, but I don't think it's the first
I am still trying to figure out the alternate word for the cloud. Isn't it enough that I spelled it right once?
ci5 12
ok, time to go get lunch, i do not want to eatlike i am starving at tonight;s gathering
when anybody else cooks, I eat like I'm starving
ci 5/12 - take the ci 4 before it and double the second consonant and change the last vowel
later, all
bye TO
Isn't it amazing what someone else cooking can do to your appetite?
it's certainly true for me, molly!
I think I already have it, wv, which means the monkeyed ci4 also means the cloud?
I actually weigh 300 lbs but do this elaborate thing with smoke and mirrors!
I don't think so, scrabs, the ci4/5 is wax in Fr
not really, it is the alternate spelling for what we usually call the high thin white clouds
I do have both ci5/12's.
Ruby is talking about the ci 4/5...not the ci 5/12
I love the ic ending in this grid, even though I only have 68 words
Oh, just shoot me.
ruby doesn't know what she's talking about!
'Ello mates! How are y'all?
Hi Mark
hello mark!
The grid looks mighty fine today!

hi dorens
he 8 - he 4/6 + et 4/5
ty dorens and sue xxx
according to the dictionary it dates from the 1600s and comes from Latin, so I suspect that the British spelling is the same
hu. i have a very sleepy, maybe sick old cat on my lap. i need to go to the bathroom but don't want to disturb her
hu= hi (hard to type in this awkward position)

dorens, my partner takes care of the dog; I love her but too much work for me!
good night ruby
exactly.. too much work + i drive to boston one weekend each month... wouldn't want to have to deal with that
yes, it does mean we're pretty homebound, but so far that hasn't been a problem - usually one of us (me, partner, son) is around
back again - we have had our tea and it was very nice - chicken curry and rhubarb crumble
Hello Kazzer!
ooh, lovely, kazzer!!
it was yummy and after al the walking it means the calories dont really matter
Ouch, now I have to go. I have English, French, Math, and History homework. Too much! See y'all later.
well, much as i'd like to stay and babble and chat, i need to do some errands.. so i'm gently lifting this cat off my lap and will be back later to finish up. happy babbles all

At first, I had a hard time with that re 5/14 being clued that way. That's not what it's called in the US.
sorry, molly, I live with people who have lived a long time with brits, so I get things mixed up sometimes
Do you have another c?lue for it, Molly
ci7/36 pls xxx
No problem Sue. It's clued here that way all the time. I just remember the first time it was clued, thinking it was the "other" word and not seeing it.
re5/14 = re + double consonant + vowel
Thanks!
ci7/36 = ci plus the ending of bre*****, something a preacher might call his (male) listeners

Hi pe**winkle! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hello Winter River! How are you? Welcome to the grid
clue for re 5/14
re 5/14 is re + double consonants plus vowel Boobear.
When I en5/10ed Babbleland today, was happy to see a small grid. I have not finished the en 6/18 grid yet, but I'm almost done so here is a story of clues. Hubby is so cr 6/24al of Babble. I can't even en 6/21 him to be a tr 5/10 of the game. He thinks I ex 5/20 myself too much when babbling, but not when cleaning.Wish I could hi 4/5 someone to clean my house. Hubby also fi4/8ly believes that I'm hooking up with people here. I'm so sick and ti4/4d of his paranoia. Well,I think he spends too much time on Farmville. I wish I could set his farm on fi4/7! I do not think that there are any fi 7/44 on Farmville he could call. Husband wants laptop If I don't give it to him, there will be a pr 5/14 to pay if his needs are un 5/14. He'll have a fi 6/30 attitude and may cause a ho 8/65 scene. I fr4/7 what he may do if I don't give it to him.He thinks I PMS sometimes. I swear to God I think he is pr 6/24strual sometimes. I don't want to buy a laptop, but I wish I could be a re 6/18 and re 4/4 one. Maybe I could be a th 5/18 and sneak one out of my school.Anyway, I am going to go look at a Chinese me 4/5 for take-out tonight. I feel like eating chicken and broccoli with ri4/5.I'll re7/28 Babbleland in th5/12 hrs before I re 6/18 for the nite
that was awesome, thanks min
not getting the clue
great story Min - down to 18 now
yw
i always end your stories annoyed at your hubby though :)
re 5/14 word is ***reational park + **nter for disease control(CCD) Boobear. Is that the word you need still
yes
Please remember, it's a story and mostly exaggerated
:)
He does hate babble, but he is not as nasty as I make him out to be.Hubby would be so hurt if he saw how I portrayed him my story of clues.Really he ignores my babble addiction and I ignore his Farmville addiction.

south of the border?
Tex-***
I'm laughing at anyone hooking up here. This is a very platonic group. More like a family than a singles club.
It's a USA reference.
Somebody is hooking up HERE?
south of the border is in Sc
Min (in her story) said her husband thinks she is hooking up here.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
*gasp* oh no! rofl. that's funny. proves he doesn't come into our babble hideaway
I have nightmares about South Of The Border. And Pepe.
Babblets are so sexy.
Anyone want to see my emfs?
Ha ha. Hooking up in Babble. Is that like sharing slop in Farmville? I thought Pedro was at South of the Border?
ooo go on then kap
bahaha sharing slop
oooh kaplan! when you put that in the chog I get all flustered...
I love it when you say "etui."
Is it Pedro? I don't remember. Just that giant cartoon guy in the huge sombrero.

Ok. I'll calm down.

No one can clue me like you clue me baby.

See, a jealous husband would think NBT stands for nice big ti4.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaa!
we are sad, sad, lonely people...
No, we are funny, funny people.
sad? I don't see any sad here! Pathetic, maybe, but not sad :-)
No we are not!\
Oh no, Stid. That's just we want the "outsiders" to think.
while we seduce each other.
evening everyone
Oh, if Nancy Boy were here he would love it right now.
:(
(((Kaplan)))
(raise your glasses)
Snap Kap. I was just thinking that NB would be interjecting some funny stuff into this dialogue.
he used to blush when we talked about ti4 and such. *sad mama look*
Not your eyeglasses.
hey Katie! ((hugs))
*Beer in the air*
Uh oh. What happened to Nancy Boy??

I grabbed his last babble profile to use as my computer desktop.
Oh dear. Word gets out so slowly.

righty ho im with you now lol and ty xxx
right, frog. :-D
Kap, I remember when you were talking about a member of another chat board of yours passing. You really do feel like you've developed a closeness with someone when you interact with them on a regular basis.
Yeah.
sure molly, we all know each other sorta kinda... and when some of us meet it is always kinda cool... we think we know each other and then there is this stranger with a voice that you don' t recognize
It's always so very sad to lose someone we know, and sometimes it's harder when that relationship is only just beginning...
I feel even worse about NB , oddly- he was very compelling. And so young.
in some ways i talk more to people here than my family and friends... i mean, it is a daily ting
He was a lovely young man, with so much potential and joie de vivre
second fu5/20 pls xxx
I think it is added to as he was only a babe and we all felt motherly towards him. He may have lost his own mum but got about another 30 on here!
He had a very bright spirit, and people like that shine through in a chat forum. And DAMN he was funny.
I think I mentioned when my nephew died, a computer website went crazy when they found out- he had built the site - they didn't know he was a 15 year ld kid.
oh thanks frog. i was missing an f and i know now what it is

any clues for the last ru? I ahve ru5/14, ru 4/5 and ru4/5 but there must be another
more ru4.5
hi dcs
hello, and ty for ru5
think it's a cow's stomach
of any ruminant, indeed so, Glantrell
Hi DC!
hi, JJ
i know i've been babbling too long cause i found the XE with no problem
lol...me too...
i can't get that last ru4.5, never mind the xe
ru4.5, small (person)
oh i have that one
and the mystic signs one
only 4 ru words: 5,4,4,7, the last of which is more of the last ru4
ah, it's the ru7 i am missing, thanks, i will just have to work out how you can have more small people
more so ru4.5, were he any ru7, he'd disappear
TY dcs - got it!
i should cook. i want food. i don't want to cook. Such dilemmas!
money's tight, so must cook if going to eat.
got ny eggs? quick omelette is the fastest way of sorting that dilemma out LOl
food prices are rocketing here in the UK - are your prices shooting up in the US too?
oooh, there may be. I'm leaning toward something with rice, maybe use the tofu in the fridge.
fried rice with eggs stirred in at the end?
Yes, the prices have been climbing, though locally, rising faster where my mother and sister live than where i do, as prices got to point where i live that we stopped buying food.
use the tofu and some frozen peas?
their county's prices were lower, so theirs have been going up, and almost match ours now, at which point we'll rise in lockstep, i'm sure
stopped buying food? can you grow enough to live on? Not a possibility for me
whjereabouts in the US are you dcs?
oh, most of us have at least a month's worth on hand. I'm in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC
ah, i live in the hills of south Wales and it's too high to grow anything but cabbages & leeks in winter but yes, I do have about month's stocks - probably more if I thought carefully about all the dried pulses hiding in the cupboard LOL
exactly :) it's too cold to grow things out of doors here Nov-Mar most years
OK, still can't get the re5/14 and can't figure out the fact finding mission as recon not in grig...help?
dried beans are your friend
jilly - it's a shortening of a military word for going lout to see how the land lies
recon not in grid.
re & two consonants early in the alphabet & the second vowel
yes, DC, that's the only word I can think of..
british milatray don't recon, they rec** LOL
oh my. Never would have gotten that. ty, Glantrell
despite my typos - well done LOl
ah, that term is used in non-North American English apparently. Huh.
got it, thanks Giantrell, new one for me!
so, give me a clue for the xe?
ends with most of the grain you suggested i combine with eggs, tofu, and peas
stats?
xe5.22
git it - TY - never ever would have got that
xe5/22 = the type of gardening one does in the desert or other very dry places
25 to go....whew!
that explains why i never would have got it LOl - we have over 27 inches of rain a year!!!
not an easy grid today, jill!
I am almost at halfway and may have to see if lickety has been busy soon...
ooh, found the HO8 :)

did not mean to leave caps on after rich
take the ending of your 4 and move it to 3rd pos- change last letter to cross
re4/7 a small boat ra** but with e
the 7 - make the last vowel double
TY for the re** change to rA**
STILL STRUGGLIN G WITH RE7 - I HAVE DOUBLE E ENDING
the other re7 is to go back in
ah, TY crystalle - I had the person who rents but missed the going back in
then you want the other one! to go into a room again
.
you can add a i to the r5/18
6/18 dammmit
so now i only need the re5/10 after the cash you pay to live in sombody else's property
add a vowel
add a vowel
TY very much
yw
any clues for the first re7/28?
that's the go back into a room one
Hello my peeps!
OK, so what's the second re7/28? Cos I amissing one of them LOL
Hi Mark
that's the one where you add the i - there are 4 words with that pay for a room word
4,5,6 & 7
add vowel for 5, add voew & cons for 6 and add I for 7
i have 4, 5 & 6 but not 7
FINISHED!! VERY EXCELLENT!!!
insert i in end of word
woo hoo godthab
congrats
TY - got the re7
have to go tuck in BF - has to be at work at 6am. brb
See ya hoo
hmmm, have no Ns - ad there are several
I still don't have that 7.
Which 7 Mark?
The re just clued.
I'm back
re - to go back in
yw
I have that one
hi Mark
Hello hoot!
or the person who ays money to use somebody else's property but with an i as the last but ne letter
pays
I have the 6, but what is the 7?
Now i am giving up at ten to 3 in the morning
have you added the i as the last bt one letter Mark?
that's where you add the i
sorry - last bit 2 letter
I put the i on the end of the re 6/18 and it didn't work.
anyway - nos da pawb! see you tomorrow
no - in the word after the the original word
What do you mean, hoot?
sorry you did't make it Glan - sleep well and see ya tomorrow
re5/14 clue pls?
if you have the person who pays for the room - insert vowel right after the original 4 letter word
Okay, I have that.
good
What is the extension after that?
re5 is instead of a cd play a re**** + half of word for penny
recent
sorry
I don't know that cd reference;
re4, add vowel for 5, add cons after vowel for 6 add vowel after original 4
dc's are the new way - re****s are the old one
I give up
I think I found it, but the other part of that word isn't in the puzzle. Sorry for the trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i do give up
what are we talking about now? I'm totally befuzzled.
part of what word?
Record is not is the puzzle!
take the first 3 letters from that and add the half word that means a penny
WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOWWW. We were looking at different words the whole time. Thanks, anyway!
ifgures ;(
67 left!
JOY.
do all the easy stuff then do the hard ones.
I try, but it is harder than it looks.
well finding the re's would have been easier if you started w/ the 4 instead of the 7. same for a lot of the others
*sigh*
plus alot of words use that ic and er ending
Okay, i will look for those.
Can i have the 8 that isn't the he8?
it's ho8/65 and means something terrible - why don't you use the list?
Thanks hoot! My Lickety is not functioning today.
what is the first he8 clue
hi all
Is is he* not him, + the name for a doctor with second cons slightly different.
much better than mine!
clue for ti6 please?
another word for 3 of a kind in card games
hmmm
rhymes with a word to make a hole in something
a penny is also a **nt - ad that to ti4
add
thank you all, i finally got it
yw
pr7 please?
if you have the pr6 change the sec vowel to a diferent one and add a vowel to the end
thanks hoot! got it
great - yw
one of those words that have no definition - even in a reg dictionary!
When I see a word in the grid like pr7, I have to again queston why POOT is not considered a word
enable is at least 40-50 yrs behind the rest of the world.Poot must be too new
conjugate the verb to POOT
haha
it's your word - you do it :D
firewords
congrats wildcat
dammit what is the 2nd cr6
same as 1st change 1st vowel
ok thanks, just found it
i hate this grid!
it was quite a beast
i am quitting with 30 left
i have to fold laundry now
why/
I listed to finish
night all :)
nite monkey
NITE MONKEY
sorry caps were accidental
wildcat do you think there is a legitimate reason for NOT using the list and just asking people?
lol I thought you were trying to make a point
I guess some people like the challenge. like it invalidates the win if you list or something
not usally that way :D
but what's the challange if you are just interrupting other people?
I'll admit to times when I did not want to list
they don't see it as interrupting
they see it as a means to achieving a goal
well I don't list till I've wrung out every word on my own - then I get the rest with the list
especially with the many people who offer to clue
If I ask someone it's cause I'm either desperate or very busy. And usually for only one
I usually don't ask either
yeah - I think that can be another ego trip
it does take some work to figure it out on your own even with the list sometimes. maybe they don't want to work that hard for it
I think we are both pushing the envelope here. Everyone has there own feelings about this and it is probably easier to avoid the issue than talk about it
I really can't see the point of not doing as much on your own as possible
neither can I but that's how it appears some people think
yeah - I guess so. So we will continue to do our own thing and chat when done
pretty much
that works
I am now going to find a nosh. Been nice talking to you.
you too t
tc

There's a link in Stidmama's profile to a posting thread...
Yep, I was in tears last night
ty got it.
(a short blurb about what happened and a condolence thread)
ty for the news...I shall be bummed but carry on...
:/
well, it looks like I blew up the chog...so I'll hush...perhaps back for flip...
No, I merely jogged off to the site Stiddy set up for NB....
*ok*
* I was afraid I'd said something wrong ... didn't mean to (if I did) *
and I was on the condolence thread as well, although I don't think I can finish this grid...
* again, my apologies for offering the news *
Pini..I've been off and on for several weeks now, and also missed the news of TO's father's passing at Christmas (found out this morning)
there are times when I think we live in a privileged quiet world here in Babbleland, and then stuff happens = life. I am sad but we muster onward...
oh ... didn't mean to give a double-header, pav...
...I agree...
No Pini, if someone (like me) doesn't know about it, they should know
and I find honesty and sharing an equally important facet of Babble-dom...it eases our share of pain and sorrows...
mu 5 clue please?
mu5 = civilian clothing
ty got it
civilian clothing?..I'll have to join the military at 50 to figure that one...
