yw nan, lol!
hmmm, I guess that's the tricky bit about icon clues...some know what they are/how to find them and some don't (like me LOL)
SKIIIIIIIINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
skh, did you click on the icon?
hey lady! how's stuff on the other side of the planet? ;-)
and read what was written?
One min Jill is talking ot you
no matter, herin, and hello
which icon would that be jilli (hehehe, I've been around almost forever and never have understood...guess I'm a bit slow ROFL)
My icon, skh
well evidently not LOL
Hello too
If you click on my icon you will see a bigger picture and the letters for the clue
crashing here -- last 20 for tomorrow
bye nan -- wd
Bye Nan
aaahh...so the trick is to check everybody's icon (of those available, I guess) for possible clues? hmmm, I always thought there was a theme...(e.g.: flowers, fav desserts,... whatever...just something diff every day). so it's just a word from the grid?
the theme on Fridays is a word from the grid.
And if you read more of what is written in my profile you will see a list of the themes for each day.
But skh, not many Babblers are following the themes and today as far as I can see I am the only one who has posted and icon clue.
i don't get the cluee on the icon jilli
oooooh, ok...and Sat-Thurs,what happens then? hahaha is there a cheat sheet for this? LOL
;oved your icon clue jil.. i recall doing it many years ago.. it was part of a cultural program at my grammar school when i was 8 years old... i was so impressed that i still remember how
Or do I just need to be fish slapped at this point? ;-)
ruru, did you read what I wrote? I gives the first 2 letters and the length
SK can u say hi to me on FB?
now I figured it out thank you
skh, just look at what's written in my profile! scroll down!
*smacks skh with a fish*
sure lady...gimme a mi6/24 to pull it up ;-)
just for good measure
Just wanted to touch base that is all. Hi ru ru
thanks, smom -- I never did learn how.
Hi Smom
hi herin.. how's my favorite aussie tonight
ok thanks jilli
Tired. Going to go and slow cook dinner so and make Yorkshire pudding for my favourite person
its amazing how many sweet old memories this chat brings back
hmm be right over
and I see I have to add some more themes from sprite's list...
any memories to share sammy?
I am thinking of oven bagging the beef and slow roasting it for a good couple of hours. I have never made Yorkshire puds before
mmm, love Yorkshire pud -- are you making Toad in the Hole?
me neither herin.. I wouldn't know where to start
No Jill to go with the Roast beef. I am also thinking of making Pice Bach (Welsh Cakes) and I have to prep the apple pie for sunday
I had toast and scrabbled eggs.. it's been a loooong week for me
scrambled that is..lololol
12 :45 i told jil a memory that her icon clue gave me... and on that note i am going to bed and ruminate on it... poof
nighters sammy.. have a nice sleep
Night Sammy
Oh, roast beef (very rare) would be lovely. Living alone I never get to enjoy it with Yorkshire and gravy and roast potatoes and veg.
Too much for one person and I'm such a scared cook I don't dare invite anyone to share.
Jill you can buy a 1 kilo roast beef and cut it in half and then roast it surrounded in foil. I used to do that when I lived on my own
Good morning all......yes Herin, I have a roast dinner most Sundays, be it chicken one week or lamb or beef, with yorkshire puddings and gravy.....I love it, Sundays wouldn't be the same without it....
thks herin, but then the roast potatoes wouldn't be as good. What I have done is get some pieces of beef fat and start off by roasting the spuds with that, then adding the small beef later -- I like it really rare. But I'll try your foil trick -- sounds good. BTW, I make Boeuf Miroton with the leftovers and freeze individual helpings. (Hmmm, must thaw a roast I have in the freezer -- when I have time)
What about errrrr Lard as a mixer?
Hi Flask
beef fat is tastier
Goose fat makes excellent roasters!
Isn't that Lard?
O Goose fat. Yum
probably....lol
maybe, herin, but I thought lard was all tidied up. I get chunks cut from beef by the butcher and it has bits of meat attached.
O lard is piggy excuse me.
you're excused, lol!
I can buy pure lard or goose fat in jars......so then it keeps for ages!
It is all the same thing to me. My mother is one of those "O you shouldn't cook in beef fat that is gross'' kind of people. Yer right
I don't think I can get goose fat here.
Interesting.
My mother never cooked a roast in her life so I didn't get that kind of advice. Learned everything from hubby's sisters.
My father was a butcher so I was brought up on lard etc.,
My Grandfather when he was alive was a butcher. Mum is a vegetarian.
halfway. Finding this tough.
Oh no.....I like my meat too much......
I think she just had way to much as a kid or it is a texture thing
my d-i-l and granddaughter are both vegetarians.

hi and nbt
hi josh and wtg
icon clue here which you probably don't need
ty jilli
I think I scared everyone away!
i imagine some people finished this one rather quickly

straightforward grid today.
yes i can see.... i know i will struggle at the end to find my last 30...
at least there's a s for some plurals

i guess for those who know all those babblets ;)
hello scouser

yw -- a clue is the icon theme for every Friday
And now it's my bedtime so goodnight/day all ... *poof
sleep well jilli, syl!
I will have a go at that next week. Today's new word for me was the mu6/24 and its plural (the one with n in it) - another interesting household word.
cheers all

interesting statement, Michnick, lol
let's play Slap The Keyboard: For Horses, Jillibus Makes Kisses
*Sips hot coffee. Wonders what that all means.*
hi Molly. Slap the keyboard? It is a game. You slap the keyboard and then you make a sentence, using each letter as the begin letter of a word.
I used the letters Michnick posted in chat.
Okay, I will contemplate that on my way to work. Be back later.
have a nice day at work, Molly

The toilet featured in Hitchcock’s “Psycho†was the first flushing toilet to appear on-screen.

Both Madonna and Celine Dion are cousins of Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla.
gee wonder if these will ever come up in trivia games lol
one never knows
very true!
see how smart you are no one here knew tht either
In Psycho btw, the sound that the knife makes penetrating the flesh is actually the sound of a knife stabbing a watermelon.
i am using a strange fact generator on computer,if you must steal my thunder, but i figured with mins clue stories,my interesting tid bit of the day,we just need to add someone with recepie of the day and maybe a healty hunt of the day from our resident doc lol

what time is dinner teach?
will throw it in for you - this is our vegetarian option for the dinner - will also have a taco bar
will the grazers eat egg whites?
it is actually tomorrow (Sat.) at 5:30 but you are all invited to come - it is a fundraiser in order to send our youth to New York City to work in soup kitchens and food pantries for a week in June
too far away for crossy;((
Yes, the families are vegetarians and not vegans
sorry i confuse the rules of the 2 sometimes
oh very nice teach :)
i keep learning
we also have an auction along with the dinner and the auction raises the most money - last year almost $3,000
since you would have to pry my carton of eggs from my cold dead fingers,i can safely say vegan is not for crossy
very nice teach!
we are having a ginormous charity yard sale this month with all proceeds going to a local womens shelter and on site toys and games etc for their kids
most of the auction "items" are services rather than objects - a day of boating, blueberry picking guides, fresh vegetables from the garden
we are using the entire ymca parking lot and renting out 2 parking spots per person to sell their styff
i am sure you will beat last years total teach
i offer to tach dulcimer lessons and also to provide 3 dozen fresh baked cookies each month for one year
mmm..cookies....
will you ship the cookies?...lol
last year was the first time we did it and so it was a novelty - don't know yet about this year but will know after tomorrow- the kids also did a car wash and a spaghetti dinner earlier so they have already raised about $900
i will deliver them and share one of your breakfasts
It is nice to hear stories of kids doing things like that :)
deal
the famouse crossy canadian north woods camp breakfast!
they will work all afternoon tomorrow setting up and then cleaning up after the dinner
sounds like a lot of fun for a good cause
thats great :)
i will be very tired by the end of the day tomorrow - will perform and teach dulcimers all morning and then run back and work on the dinner all afternoon and evening
we used to do that sort of thing for youth group at our church when i was growing up
will be a long day for you have to make a nice cup of tea and relax tomorrow nite lol
wonder what fed-ex would charge to ship 3 doz cookies....
the impact of the trip on the kids is amazing - we are in a small town and many had never been to NYC
the work Mon. - Thurs. in the soup kiotchens and one night prepare dinner for a homeless shelter and spend the evening socializing, but they also have some time for sightseeing
it will be a very nice trip for them
time to go - need to purchase the last things before we start cooking this afternoon - see you all later this evening
have a good day tomorrow teach

hi everybody
hi ruruocks
Hi everyone! Lovely to be back on babble with you all
is this a tough grid or am I blind. I can't find the last 30..?? yikes
I am guessing the OMG in the corner has more meaning from Dr. god
that's pretty much where I'm stuck, too, ruru...
hi terri
(((MRP)))
happy birthday to me..happy birth day to me...
afternoon all - and happy birthday to you crossy - mine on Monday!
yaa for us under the sign of the bull!
all the best people :-)
dare i ask how young you are?
of course..and we are not stubborn;))
i am just a wee slip of a lad at 47
we are warm and loving and sensuous and enjoy our food (and we like to keep a careful eye on our money)
very careful eye on the money..or lack of it;/
food!
and we are not stubborn - it's just that sometimes we need a lot of persuasion to change our minds
now crossy is hungry...
bacon?
i have actually cut back a lot on the bacon now it is a once a week treat
i have just finished work and am enjoying a pre-birthday glass of white wine in the sunny garden - the yardarm mujst ahve been crossed somewhere if not here
but i love my eggs and fried taters.mmmm
i have bacon once or twice a year - always dry cured - and really enjoy it
once a year???!!! eeep!
mmmm now Adrienne is hungry too
i am not supposed to eat it at all - too many chemicals
lol, even the grass is full of chemicals now
but then again i'm probably not supposed to partake of alcohol for the same reason ;-)
the meat at the big box grocers has so many hormones in it i am lucky i am not growing boobies
organic is best - i eat that as a teat and don;t eat meat the rest of the time
*makes bacon martini's for all around*
oh im glad you mentioned meat....i hve gr turkey in frig i wanna make a turkey loaf out of and i forgot!
bacon martinis? new concept - hi ruru
i want to make a still in the house for organic vodka..but the mrs said no
shame...
i have made bacon vodka in the past glant..yummers
``hehehehe good for ya vodka
em, is that legal in the US? It's not here!
i am not in the states..but no..still are not legal here either
sorry - unforgiveable sin to suggest to a canadian that you are in the US
you can make yer own wine and beer though
now i feel dirty lol
we can (and do) too
though kudos to the U.S navy seals!
i've always fancied making a still
but i haven't yet found a spirit i like enough to try to reproduce LOL
as have i glant
US navy seals?
the easiest it seems would be to make a type of polish potato vodka or saki
they got ossama bun laden i hear
lol@ bun laden
i think so - isn't that what they did in concentration camps in WW2? made still capable of making liquor form potatoes?
oh, i see, i thought it was related to food and drink LOL
they did indeed glant
and sake seems very easy if you start with rice as your starch base
have never tried sake so no idea if it's good - very little japanese culture here
phew. left hand fw
bun laden will be the new McDonalds large bun hamburger I hear
download a speech to type program m9
? m9?
i imagine it will have sea salt on it lol
oh, ruru - how many groans can you create in a few moments? what is your personal best? I saw the golf stuff which made me gigle and groan
new! bun ladens fillet of shark meat!
oh, shark meat is GOOD
I think my Ted Kennedy joke was the biggest.. of all time
oh i missed it! ya ol' duffer
we used to import shark meat for the toronto market..but all the asian buyers wanted were the fins..
OK, I will feed you the intro - what Ted Kennedy joke ruru?
Ted Kennedy was the biggest joke of all time?
so we did the lobster import biz for a year or 2,live right from the east coast
to where crossy?
someone posted that Ted kennedy had passed away and I asked if he was driving..that one got the record number of groans ever
i had canned lobster bisque for lunch today - yum
ouch ru!
Ruru - that joke depends on knowledge I clearly don't have - how did TK die?
goes further back glant
it related to his driving accident
Chappaquidick? (SP>?)
guess it's a north america thing - don;t know about his driving accident - just know he was the brother of your assassinated president
close enough
it was a huge scandal that prevented his presidency
he was a Kennedy that got caught with ANOTHER woman type thing.
oh, what was the scandal? was he drink driving?
sad we remember that....but do you know the girl's name?
oh, i see... married
worse glant
we use to put it in dry ice from east coast marintines and pick it up at pearson, then drive it north to where we are 2.5 hours drive north of toronto..the shark was siod in the city
is moving chilled food around what you still do crossy?
Mary Jo Kopechne
is that a random statement amelu?
that was the girl's name/
oh, i see, thanks
would anyone clue the second mu 6/24 please
don't have that yet
nope glant..i now run a service station
5th letter diff than the one following it, ruru
with great expectations of opening a book store/art suppy business soon
you would laugh at me then - i had a hire car for 3 days and came to fill it up before collection b y the hire car company
ever settle on name crossy?
thank you amelu
yvw
it was a brand new car and i couldn;t get the filler cap open but when i did i couldn;t get the nozzle in
i drove to a ford dealer where thye had the same porblems
turned out it was diesel vehicle that i had been trying to fill with unleaded (as did the ford dealer - scary!)
how fumey!.
i'd love to open/work in a combined bookstore/art supplies store. be even better if it sold coffee and home made cake too,
alright dinner in the oven now i can play here
mmmn. dinner in the oven. yum
good morning everyone :)
bore da nan
right - off for a long overdue haircut - bbl for the other 47
hiya nan
sorry m9 was tab hopping.we settled on a simple name after tossing around many names ...
have fun GIant
yes?
(was off reading chappaquiddick stuff here)
Melbourne books and art supplies
simple is best sometimes
*!* ta da *!* - a lot of babblets we haven't seen for a while :)
ooohhhhh. Well I guess people will know what they're getting into!
i agree on simple
anyone want clues before I leave?
i used to collect antique glass long ago and will decorate the place with old inkwell and quills as well as some interesting book quotes placed on the walls here and there
yaa for cybernan
nice
wd n
oops. well done nan
that and the 20 or so art consignment spaces,i think it will look smashing;))
sounds like a great venture crossy -- good luck! -- don't forget the armchairs and coffee machine :)
there will be a reading/newspaper nook.and 2 patio tables with unbrellas outside
just don't smash the antique glass ;-)
lol..already have the coffe machine in storage ready to go
not to worry, inkwells are suprisingly durabe
durable
The biggest plus going for the bookstore we frequent is that the shelves are arranged first by genre and then alphabetically by author -- easy to find stuff.
all books will be arranged in just that way
fiction/non fiction/history/teen etc
i am going with wooden bookcases with that nice antique looking milk paint finish
Now if the owner would just join the 21st century and have an online catalogue, everything would be perfect!
i also will not be going online at the start..newspaper inserts and word of mouth
i can get 10,000 inserts in the 2 local papers for 400 dollars
no -- I meant that you could walk into the store head for the pc terminal and look to see if the book you want is there.
that can be done
but some love the browsing..all part of the bookstore experience
you don't think e-books are going to take a big chunk out of the market?
i am going after a different market,40+ and offering popular gently used hardcover titles and collectable books..for gifts etc..i am steering clear of read once and throw out softcovers
oh --lol -- that's about all I ever read, except that I take them back to the bookstore for credit on the next batch.
e-books are great and i love them, but nothing says a good gift like a hard cover title of a story someone always wanted
I don't know -- don't count out the 40+ travelling public -- I've asked for an e-reader for my 68th birthday!
and this way i will not be looking at the same books 100 times as paperbacks tend to do as they go in and out lol
crossy loves his nook e-reader
On the other hand, I have received some wonderful books as gifts that I treasure.
that is the market i am after cyber
you may love lord of the rings for example and read the softcover to tatters many times..but imagine a hardcover print from the original 1954 release...
that nice old book smell no charge lol
Sorry crossy -- but that doesn't ring chimes for me -- trying to reduce our library -- have so many old books and encyclopediae
and with the art supplies and consignments i think it will be well rounded
yes -- the art supplies are a good idea
that way all my eggs are not in one basket
again -- I wish you good luck with it -- when is opening?
i was hoping for may first but there have been some delays..will keep you posted
ok
on my way -- spring has finally arrived and the garden looks sad!
I have slowly replace all of Aiden's loved books from her childhood with copies that aren't falling apart
finding copy of Lady Lovelylocks and the Golden Ball was not easy but one finally surfaced
:-)
it is amazing how many hard covers for beloved stores have vanished

Hi Glant, hello Gran Mere. Earlier, Sprite said Dr. God had gone to a "T" sale. : D
Hi glantarell. T for two and two for t and all that.
:-)
Hi Molly
but given the number of Ts in the grid, the number of words starting with T isn't too onerous
that last column of letters is strangely not very involved.
no - weird
Two of the "T's" were non-playable tiles.
So true, Molly. I'm almost halfway through the words but need to go. I'll be back later.

hi everyone
Morning Andree. Are you at home?
I might even get to finish this, something I haven't done in nearly a year
came back yesterday only staying till tomorrow morning then back to Sydney for mothers day, no kitchen here so no point in staying long
Will that be the end of the renovations?
not quite, the office has to be fitted and laundry then quite a bit off finishing off
then painting
hi, andree!
whew - Hope you are enjoying it though
garden is done though which is mainly why I rush back every few days
h uusue
sounds like a lot of work, andree!
not so much work for me although digging into my wallet is very tiring
ah, that can be indeed! :-)
lol
all the heavy work in the garden was done by my sons and wonderful brother in law[ he is also my painter] as I had all the neglected 30 year old plants removed and lovely new soil dug in
sounds wonderful!
so I have had a great deal of pleasure choosing new plants and starting a veg garden

how're you?
I've been up since 5 AM; it was a long clinic day for me and I'm pretty wiped out'
oof. hope you get some sleep this weekend.
hi Min.
I've found 21 words so far. Are there really MORE in this grid?
a few. i've found 65
Babbled without Lickety un5/12 I got 55 words. Then with the help of clues and li 4/4, I got close to FWs. I have 108 words mi5/14 one left now. Si4/5 I'm almost done with the puzzle, here is a story of clues. Spring allergies have kicked in. My si 5/12es are all clogged. My mo 5/16 is dry and I have a sore throat. All of the meds that I am taking does not amo5/14 to much.I'm allergic to everything including my cats and mu4/6. I have not always had allergies my whole life, but this is my ni 5/12 year with them. One good thing about my allergies is that I don't have much of an appetite,so I tend to get sl4/5 in the Spring. Hubby is getting into a sn 4/4 because he wants computer. Hubby is tired of watching su4/6 wrestling on TV. I am going to get out of this se 4/4 and go watch the movie The Mu4/6 with my friend Allison Sm5/14.I will come back to this websi4/4 later toni4/4 in 1 hour and 45 mi 7/36. Bye!
okay, I'll keep looking then! :-)
evening all! mu6 the first one?
bye, min, thanks!
sorry, dan2 I haven't found it yet
the one i have is to change dna randomly, dan. dunno if that's the first or not.
have that one
this is the one before mu4/6 creative inspiration
The mu 6/24 is mu plus consonant + Rin *** *** dan2bit
not sure then. i'm still looking for a bunch though.
thanks, min
ty minver, that's firewords - never would have monkeyed that on my own
yay dan!
yay dan!
huh. i never knew (or thought about if there was) a name for those bars. thanks, min
Thanks, Min!
YAY, dan2!!! WTG!!!
Congratulations dan2bit on yourn fireworks! Hooray!

same here LA
that's more than you used to have, nef :)
OOOH Neither of mine are pls!
now I have 3 7 letter words
you've caught me there then
i have 1 mi7 and 2 mu7s
aha got the mi
don't suppose either of you have the et7s?
I have the same ones, jes
do you want clues for the mu7s, LA?
a little push would be nice :)
randomly alter your dna, LA
then pluralize it
mu+consonant + metal can
ah thank you
sorry, LA. My mind is mush tonight so I can't think of clues
34 left - to the li4 it is
nu6 and 7 are same as mu except starting letter
I can't get past 51 words. Not half way yet; but I have to li** already so I can go to bed
down to 3. an ou6 and 2 et7s
down to 16
found the ou.
found the et7
horribly embarrassing how long it took to find the second, since they're very closely related words!
yay nef! those are my last 2
need a hint?
please! put me out of my misery! :)
et +c**s like f**h *oo
thanks, just one left :)
same as the one you clued, but for the last letter.

Congrats on your Fireworks!
i can try if you like. are you still missing 6s?
yes, I only have 5 so far
tu 5/6?
tu+double letter + personal vowel
sorry, LA, I don't have that yet

Hello all! I am back after playing a 2 hour Pinball game
hi again min :)
mu6 change your dna
No, maybe it was more like a 1 1/2 hour Pinball game.
then change the penultimate letter for another mu6
then turn the ending into a belief for a third mu6
How are we all doing? Did story help anybody before?
yes, min, i got several words from the story
big help min
That's good jesdraggon! Did you get FWs jesdraggon?
i did :)
hi Min. I did use your story to find words
Congratulations jesdraggon on fireworks! Way to go!
thanks. couldn't have done it without clues though! :)
et 7/32? fading fast
same first three as the et4, then consonant, then belief system ending
change the last letter for the et/28
thanks! had the other
et 7/32 is same first 3 letters as et4 plus anagram of that mi 4/5 word LeslieAnn.
heh. well in that case, just change the last letter :)
that would have been a much easier way to clue it, yah?
phew. fireworks!
