hm... in my garden I see 3 kinds of yellow flowers, one tiny tiny red flower, one white flower with bells, and a couple of flowers in yellow/brown/ivory.
since this is my first garden, I was very careful when I planned it, but still made many mistakes
maybe if I will feel better, I will work on the garden next year, try for veggies and herbs again.
I have better luck with fruit than veggies, except for tomatoes
I might try for some fruit, something that should do well in our climate... apples maybe?
but, don't forget, I have a helper/shlepper! I couldn't do it alone, that's for sure, would have to double up my pain killers

I've tried making cassis liqueur but it was not successful. I make blackberry liqueur, though, which is very nice
hello sprite: currants are edible fruit of the ribes family (black, red, white) usually cooked from raw. There are also dried currants used for baking which are dried small dark grapes (named from Corinth).
the cassis have so much natural pectin that the liqueur had to be eaten with a spoon

Hi ruby. I used to love cassis in Kir. However, no alcohol now... sad. I once accidentally drank a large mouthful of Vedrenne cassis neat.... two litres of water later I had stopped gasping!

continuing on liqueurs: my parents used to make sloe gin (the sloe is the fruit of a thorny plum-type bush in the hedgerows, not picked until after the first frost. Each small fruit (about size of large grape) has to be pierced with a sharp pin before being put whole in the bottle with the gin. Goes beautiful pink colour after draining. Lovely.

It evidently cannot be mechanised - you can't do it if you let the pulp of the fruit loose in the gin.

Long may the sloe continue though - it has the beautiful white froth of flowers in the early spring.

our quince has beautiful flowers, but most of the time, the quince rot and fall off

I love quince - they smell just gorgeous. Even the decorative non-edible ones. If it is the edible variety try getting them before they rot.

I love quince jelly, but it's too hard to make. When I have non-rotten ones, I keep a bowl of them in the kitchen, just for the wonderful scent

peri..this is kinda a "kitchen curry" not a formal curry..this is kinda of the easts version of our "hash" ground beef, chopped potatoes and onion fried up with some curry powder..then in a pot you do basmati rice with vermicelli noodles in chicken broth ( a couple boulian cubes )...once rice is done and potatots are tender...you mix it together....and let sit fo about 20 mins... serve with yoghurt....

Wild, when I was little my dad had a hughe garden every year.....and in this garden were several very tall plants that spiders made their homes in....I would sneak the salt shaker out and go sit in the garden and eat tomatoes with salt....carefully avoiding daddy's Spider Plants. .....I was 38 years old when we moved to Georgia and I saw your plant on TV....OMG it was Daddy's Spider plants...and there I sat eating a darned tomato. Daddy didn't smoke but he used tobacco in the yuckiest form....chewing.

oahu is a tourist trap. but there are some nice places to visit, like the polynesian center and of course the Arizona memorial. Maui is awesome!
And 2 nights in San Francisco on the way out since that was where we went on our honeymoon 30 years ago.
