I thought you would pick Smarties too, flosey -- Canadian, y'know.
figured there might be too many chosing them
and I see thy're almost in the grid, lol!
aha, so they are, timely
I figured the US peeps would pick M&Ms so had to trump that
oh yes
Heading to bed. Night all.

I haven't got the ix5 yet
I just did, do you want a boost, jill?
It's a tropical shrub ..
oh -- I do have nbs though!
yes please -- I'm not up on tropical shrubs. All I can think of is ixia and I'm stuck there.
then you must have that ix 5 jill!
hey tor! ((hugs)) coming home soon?

Couple more days ..

there is only one ix word, jill! :-D the ixia flower isn't here
tyvm diz -- got it!
well, that's not too far away then.
yw Jilli
in time, that is -- in distance, it's rather a long swim...
ends like a gentleman's hat
I still need the O in the 2nd column for nbt
mo 5/22 is one of my favorite beverages- my family hates it
or4/5
*trying to think of mo beverages*
popular in new england
ty Sammy
also means spunky
ty flosey -- *thinking
mocha? *considers options*
wrong direction stid
hm. I have it -- didn't realize it was a beverage! LOL

what flavour is that mo5?
yeah, what's it taste like?
ah, they are home!!! :-D
let's see how things went today... *wanders off*
ah, monkey got the or4 -- nbt now as well as nbs
or4 is a RC booklet or a party lol
wtg jilli
Jilli, the or 4 is to do with abbreviated masses in the catholic church
ty diz -- no wonder I didn't know it!
They must love quickie masses lol
flosey, I guess you know that man's hat is here
no jilli, it's the ending of the hat for the ix word
I notice volleymomdee is absent. I hoope she's not upset.
OH!! thanks jilli
light just came on
LOL flosey!
why would dee be upset
there was a conversation last night about "calling" etc, ruru
she then disappeared and hasn't been back
oh.. I upset Molly yesterday.. I was insesantly teasing her and she got upset.. I'm really bothered about it and didn't mean to get her upset..I was kidding around .. but i overdid it
oh dear
I know. I feel terrible about it..
sometimes we roll with the punches, sometimes we don't ru - I don't think she would have taken your teasing to heart
ruru, Molly will recover and it will be okay.
well, if dee is offended I feel very sorry. Wouldn't want to spoil her fun.
next time we see either we will tell them
true jilli - me too, there are many who do enjoy calling out the biggies, then there are those of us who don't bother
I hope so... she's so fun to have around and is really funny
yes, she sure is, ru
and there are some of us who enjoy chatting while we find words
yes, that too jilli
I would enjoy finding words more if I weren't so tired... U please for NBT?
dee will be here, I am sure.
up 6 and 7
she's not logged in, so maybe she is just asleep?
I hope so, stid
thanks flosey *thinking*
ack. got them!
that's NBT and past halfway for me!
wtg stid
wd stid -- I'm not halfway and stuck. I need Lickety!
and now time to push the dressers away from the bed so we can sleep. we have one more wall to paint tomorrow, then I can start putting things away in there! And then I tackle the office... *sigh* no rest for the wicked.
Well, be a good girl then, stid -- you need the rest!
have a good evening, all! *poof*
good nite stid

does anyone know the mo clue about a drink?
no idea what drink it would be berri, but I have mo6/21, mo5/22 and 6/36
mo6/21 definitely not a drink
ahh.. it was a soft drink apparently
possibly the mo5?
berri, mo4/10, mo + cross letter + first vowel
It's the name of a cola mo5/22
it also is to have nerve.LOL
mo5, mo + cross letter + 2 vowels, then plural for the mo6
I've had enough for tonight. bye all
thanks granny
cya m9
obviously not a drink we have in aus
yw berri
is that the drink granny?
not sure, flosey...
I read about it in Wiki - it was originally a "nerve tonic" so maybe that's why they chose that name
oh, thanks rasta
no, berri, we don't have it...my definition is vigour, verve
I have never had it, but if I ever get to Maine I'll seek it out now!
huh - I guess I'd go for chutzpah
thanks granny

(((((mrp ))))))))
wow, bigger grid!! but still not as big as would like... have to be happy with what we have!
((((granny!)))) !:)
how you going sweetness? nice weather over there?
how you going, honey?
thx. Night all.
yes, we have weather...lots of ot, mostly cold
poor babe... hurts the old bones!
we have lot's of nutso weather!! crazy asre rain and cold as!
btw, mrp, had 3 lots of retained dental roots out last tuesday....would you believe i am now experiencing COLD....yup, my fever of 2 years appears to have departed
what the??? that is a shirtload of roots!! poor girl!!
would appear my PREVIOUS dentist wasn't all that good, new dentist took x-rays and, voila, there they were.
so you have had infection in tooths all that time??
get damages from your previous dentist hunny... he shouldn't be practising
not exactly infection, but a slow decay, which, of course, sets up a low-grade fever
get all your monies back from him
yeah, which could have left you with infection in the jawbone!
nah, mrp, just spreading the word....his rep is on the line. LOL
that will hit him harder....fewer patients, less money in the hip pocket, know what i mean?
good girl granny... but ask for your money back for the last two years... what a dipwad!
LOLOLOLOL. me or the dentist?
the wording goes something like this.... 'give me my money back or I will force it out of you, at your expense'
and his insurance pays out, and he continues on his merry way...i think my way is best, will force him out of practice, at least in this area
yeah, but his insurance triples!!
* giggle*
i guess bottom line is... as long as he didn't harm you, let it go
however, if he so much as hurt a hairy nary on your body, i'll be there in no time!
whoot, like to see that
brb... FranMag is beating my a$$ at 'hanging with friends'! if anyone wants to play, please join me... mrpresident1968 is my handle
granny, it wouldn't be pretty! ;)
bbs :)
my new dentist is female, so gentle, i am no longer scared to go back
loves and hugs, mrp
that is sooooo good rose! wonderful experience that brings you back to health :) *poof*
anyone need a clue or three?
hi all, how many words today?
164 zoom
oooh - and no stats from lickety?
four
not yet, zoom
so are you done rose? is it a tough one today?
not too bad, couple of curly ones. and, yes, i am done
congrats - will have to come back later - have a good day :)
nite, zoom...and as there are no takers for clues, i will also go
clues are on the way.... :)
see ya rose! luv to you and your better health!
tell lickety, all in babble land are most grateful
morning all
will do hun
Clues are up
thank you lickety
good morning
thanks mrp! ((no worries - lickety)) luvs!! xox
morning rubyfoo, welcome back home
morning sprite, ruby et al
hello lickety. mrp said she'd send you over to solve my computer problems!
just came in on clue time!
ruby, do you need lickety? will let him know
are you on his FB?
no, I'[m not. Ah well. and BTW, YAY for Cadel!!!!
I've certainly missed everybody!!!
yes! Cadel did it! first time in 108 years!
did you have a good time?
we have missed you ruby! :)
but I still can't get my husband connected via his "sans fil" (WiFi) connection
ruby, find him as lickety split
his heart sign is his profile pic
I was rooting for him all the way and watched every televised minute, 4 hrs or so a day!
ask to be friends, and let him know who you are
as in... rubyfoo!!
how goes it sprite?
Timtams are packaged and ready to go tomorrow
hello -- just a peek in before bed
the devil rain finally broke... I can drive again!
oh how lovely :) I am ok, just incredibly tired. We drove back to home to pick up the kids from summer camp and back to holiday address... but one girl had exactly the same bag as Caya.... need I say more? ;)
hi jilli, tasty icon
So happy to see Lickety's list :-)
{{jilli}}
Yes, sprite -- yours looks similar
hi ruby -- glad you're back!
thank you. If it hadn't been for the Tour de France to fill my time, I would have gone nuts!
I liked the person who won, just happened to see him finish. Nice guy, modest, incredible style.
lol jilli... did you see that part of your icon is in the grid? The clever part?
rubyfoo - how can I help? And should we do this off the babble chat?
I did notice that, sprite ;-)
and Cadel did what Lance had done, won the whole Tour without taking a single stage. That's called riding smart AND having a great team.
I like it, jilli. Am working in new themes... just short on inspiration atm.
and rubyfoo apparently has missed the PB too... off you go, girl.
I wish more people would contribute ideas, sprite! And I've been lax lately.
Lickety, you are a dear, but I think I need to wait for a technician. The one who came on Friday (after 2 missed appointments) left me with a mess of cables, connected the Livebox to the electrical box, and said that my husband's computer couldn't be connected remotely (what? it has been for more than 10 years!))
oh, sprite, bad Ruby. Having just started, I didn't see that word, not very sm*** of me!!! lol
yes well one serious chat session with the right people in chat would fill up another month, but am too tired to make that happen right now. Things will work out though, jilli. They always do.
lol rubyfoo
I'm bleary-eyed -- must head for bed -- farewell all...*poof
night jilli
I will "friend" lickety anyway, mrp, because he helps everybody
good idea ruby :)
omg! The kids bough 'Shapes' today... Cheese & Bacon flavour.... I am addicted now!
argh, don't let crossy hear it
see ya jilli!! ((hugs))
crossy is the bacon fairy!
sure is
Lickety's list is till showing yesterday's
Sorry 'still'
FranMag is killing me at our games!! LOL! anyone else interested, come play 'hanging with friends'... is a terrific hangman game that you create and play. luv it
gran, refresh
a force-refresh might solve that
gran, you need to close down babble and open again
hello diz grannie: YAY, Cadel!
tell her big hug from me, please, mrP
sure will sprite :)
I have to come up with incredible words to even get close to staying up with her!!
she is pretty amazing at guessing my words too
Refreshed and closed down - still showing yesterday's list
hello Ruby....been back and forth between here and phone calls...
hi dizgrannie !
hey sprite!
gran!! that sucks!
have you cleaned out your cache lately??
let me get lickety to help you on that gran
are you friends with him on FB??
hah found the 8
can anyone else help with cleaning out the cache?? it is simple as I understand... let me go look
on ya sprite!
no 8's, no 7's, no nbt BUT half!
force-refresh is usually enough to open without involving the cache
on ya ruby!
I was hoping for a big grid today, at least something I could chew on while failing to finish, as usual
that is pretty amazing in itself, rubyfoo
yesterday's was really small though, rubyfoo
ty, sprite. You can't imagine how nice it feels to be back....
I telephoned soodles so she'd tell "the group" that I wasn't dead!
yeah... no place like home... babble home
a scary idea, though, that if one of us died, we might never know....
most people close to babblers know how special the babble bonds are, rubyfoo. We usually know what happened to babblers that no longer chat.
Have done that and degragmented - still showing yesterday's list
ok gran, will get lickety
Thanks
morning all - got the 8 wihtout realising it
I wonder if my husband would have enough sense to go into facebook and make an announcement....
gran, here he is
hi Kazz, wtg!
hi kazz :) **hugs**
I wouldn't be surprised, rubyfoo. Or he might send me an email.
smart Kaz! and hello
you can go to lickety chat to sort it out too gran
how you all at the mo - whats this with ruby being dead? or were you just off line for a bit
the green button next to resources
but I suggest kindly you don't do anything silly... you don't have permission to die!
just out of babble reach, Kazz, she is back now :)
I lost my connection for more than a week and finally called Soodles to tell people I wasn't dead, morbid Ruby!
the only dead person is amy winehouse... and about 100 people in norway (so much sadness there!)
gran - this is the solution that works the most : Run Internet Explorer (the microsoft browser) then go to the Tools menu, options, and find the part to clear your internet cache
got to lickety chat hunny... can chat with gran there
we are blowing the chog right now and your convo may be missed sweetie
I'm sure they never expected such a thing in Norway, of all places! I think in most of Europe, people are more braced, and of course in NY
http://tinyurl.com/4yh6qq9 is a link that shows you how
we are flexible, mrP ;)
well Ruby you can never tell. It was very sad about Amy winehouse and Norway was just shocking
it was a total shock to everyone ruby... absolutely mindblowing!
those poor kids
my husband tried to tell me about Amy, but I intuited the name as he couldn't remember it. LOL
we are tolerating some twatty journo asking stupid questions to a policeman on the telly - its windin my hubby up something rotten
too right sprite. I luv watching how things are 'fixed' too
twatty journo.... BWAHAHAHAHAHA!! luv it
shame about Amy... total loss. but was expected unfortunately
that is a very funny expression kaz, I wonder how it would translate into French. They seem to have only 3 bad words which they use for everything: me***, co***** and sa******
French lacks nouns
i only know the first one but i can make a guess at he second on from a visit to france in 1975
Still no luck - think I will shut down and come back later
con*** for men and salo**** for women
language is too severely protected to allow for much creativity, I think, rubyfoo
ok, we have three different requests for dinner... ready for it???
oh gran! do a shutdown on the puter and try again
Will do
which is sad as that is the last time i went abroad - though technically ireland is but i didnt need a passport and only went for the day to dublin
but English is so rich as I imagine are Dutch and German. At least you can make compounds. Here, they just have a lot of verbs
one wants devilled sausages and mash, another lamb shanks with mash, and another spagetti bolognase with parmesan and garlic bread...
if you happen to come to Europe, Kaz, we are only 45 mins from downtown Geneva
a verbious language indeed
don't they use pu****? For women? Anyway, Dutch and English and German allow for loan words from other languages. French doesn't much.
farther from Paris, however, 4 hrs by train
we are planning to go to Corsica in 2013
lolllll mrP... that is either dinner for 3 days settled... or portions in the microwave if you have those.
I was only in Corsica once, in 1978, and loved it! Great food, very nice people, and the best beach I've ever seen, Palombaggio, just south of Porto Vecchio
we sprite! luckily, I have all three!! I did the 'big cook' over 2 days... if you would like rosemary chicken on roma tomatoes, or marinated octopus salad, I have that too!
must go see to poor husband. See you all later, I hope, "saving" the big words for later RAOFL!
my hubby went for a holiday in 1993 and really enjoyed it - though some light fingered person stole his climbing kit from he boot of the car
yes, there's that! And Paris is worse
all except the octopus would be fine with me!
see you Ruby
bye rubyfoo
thiefs seriously can spoil your vacation :(
did chog die or just the chat?
Still no joy in getting today's list - are there any other lists posted
not that I know, gran
ok, just put a banana cake in the oven
*drools discreetly on keyboard*
just have to do the icing when it is cool and voila!! morning tea for a week
we are about to have brunch with eggs and bacon and toast with smoked salmon
omg! we had that for breakfast!! with hollidaise sauce
lol nice coincidence
indeed!! we also had baby spinach with english muffin
sounds delicious too
you pile on an english muffin: bacon, poached egg, spinach, smoked salmon and warm hollindaise sauce
yummmmmmm
it is very yum!! I have it without the bacon personally, but the kids like it!
also, try french toast with bacon and maple syrup!
I would eat the bacon at the side, grin. Never mess with the taste of smoked salmon!
absolutely right
i make bacon on the side, and pan fried mushroom with fetta... and steamed asparagus is a great side with shaved parmesan on top
I have never understood the thing with asperagus. But the rest sounds delish!
ukrainian women are standing up for themselves!! 60 Minutes is showing an incredible story on women who are being married off to foreigners. amazing story!!
i like asparagus, personally, it is lovely with a fresh poached egg, parmesan cheese and ciabatta toast
I can only be grateful whenever suppressed women are standing up for themselves. Or men, for that matter. WTG!
wow fireflies. Very good grid, not too hard, not too easy. Had fun! Bye all, *hugs* and thanks for the fun and company.
it is just so sad that they are 'selling' themselves off to these husbands... the story is amazing, really is... some of them truly want a wife, other's just want a young woman for sex
on ya sprite!!
this is where these men think they will find their soulmate?? on a cruise organised to cattle off Ukrainian brides? wow
anyway, enough of my jibber-jabber
not soulmates... slaves
*hugs* and *poof*
bye sprite!
hi all
hi sue, dunno if there's anybody else here
it seems that way everytime i come on
but it is nice to see you hurshy
nice to see you too.
Hurshy do you have any preteens?
no, i don't have kids... just cats. and my niece and nephew (pictured) are just little.
technically they are pre-teen-aged, lol
this book on my icon takes place in England, NY, hawaii and is such a fun book to read
I read it, but i never grew up
how many cats, hurshy?
:)
3 cats
me too
nice
3 boys
i have a boy and 2 girls
hi all. back to finish
my boy is the Most Domesticated Creature Ever
hello berri. you wouldn't happen to have the i word, perchance?
yep ix5
ok...?
thanks!
ix + what rowers use but mixed up spelling
thanks more!
thx
ty berri
hurshy, how do you mean "most domesticated"
he's... very very tame, very loving and attached to me, very obedient, very incapable of surviving in the wild...
he's a gentleman. a lover not a fighter.
ah...I see! I guess that would explain all the boys in my life...including my husband!
can anyone clue the am5's?
a + death related root word
back for a minute, but the last stage of the Tour begins in a few minutes
and the other is looooove
... congratulations Ruby ... you coaxed Cadel to a win ...
... I didn't think he'd do it
thanks hurshy
I was for him all the way while DH was rooting for Andy. Both of us anti-Contyadors, however!!!!
but he can spell better, lol
... but a hard man to love ...
you are almost in here, dosef -- not quite a phantom, but not bad either
husband or Contador? hahah
rubyfoo I waved from the plane as we departed
where were you joansie
I thought I saw a gentle jet trail....
... Contador of couse ... ... I thought the Shlecks would do it this year ... ... would have won last year except for the slipped chain on that last climb ...
and because Contador doesn'ty "get" the ethos of the Tour
rubyfoo I waved from the plane as we departed Paris on our way back home. It was just a stopover from Madrid.
I think Andy lacked heart AND brains
whereas Cadel won brilliantly
did you have a wonderful time, joansie
we were in Santiago de Compostela for week...delightful
... maybe next year Ryder will realize that he must ride at the front so that he doesn't get caught in those mad crashes in the early stages ... ... he got pretty beat up
I think that Cadel and Lance may be the only ones to win a Tour without taking a stage -- good teams and good strategies
I watched Ryder intently and am hoping that when teams reorganize for next year, he'll have a good one. Maybe even a Canadian team... whaty a dream that would be
did you have good weather, joansie?
... Lance was classy ... I watched him let his domestiques take several stages particularly in the Pyrenees while he came second ...
the most upsetting crash, for me at least, was vino. But I heard yesterday that he'll manage the Astana team next year. I think he did his penance and deserves to go forward
... there's talk of Cervelo getting together with Tim Horton's doughnuts ... ... they've sponsored the Canadian Olympic team for almost twenty years now ..
... that was the stupidest of crashes ... I'll need to give those media cars a couple of weeks of lessons before the race ... ... rule number one ... ... Don't hit the riders ... especially the ones at the front ...
... I saw about three minutes of the Giro ... ... they included the fatal fall where the rider broke his neck ... I was surprised Vinokurov didn't suffer the same fate ... lucky there
... oh well two thirds done ... must start the day ... enjoy your victory tour today ... ... I've got a loonie that says Cavendish takes today's stage so keep
Cadel away from him ..

Annie, it's supposed to be a wee bit cooler, and some thunderstorms today.
I'm only up the road from you, in Trim :-)
I'll take anything that is better than the last 2 days
we had a wicked storm hit near me...it passed over and hit just southeast of me... 6 hydro towers down...loads of people just east of me still no power ( I posted pics of the storm clouds on fb )
that was last evening...i was without power for about aan hour...
there were tornado warnings...was crazy..the pics are pretty wild
I'm sooo missing the cool weather as sweltering here in France but no one in Ireland has any sympathy for me ..ha

Of course.... I forgot about Haz. And Soodle is ably assisted in the Shamrock drowning department by assorted Babblers!

No problem, Lisa - Moll's clue did it for me :-)
:)
ROFL 'Cluster cluing'.
(thinking more of a FLuster Cluck)
Mr Spooner would have a field day with that one, Herin!!
That my dear is the point
I went to school with a girl called Mary Hayden. She was universally known as the Hairy Maiden.
hilarious! :-)
Alas, poor Mary
O dear
I hit halfway finally!
Une those dear puppies
I usually dont get much further than that lol
frawl
i know! they were in the passenger seat -- drove with left hand -- rubbed on puppies with the other :-)
I love the writing on the box......
LOL!
How did you give them up?
three cars, 14 dogs -- all of us driving 70 mile legs to eventually get them to a wonderful rescue shelter in Minnesota -- and yes, it's always hard to pass them on -- soooo adorable
and a mastiff and black lab in back seat -- lab spent whole trip with his head on my shoulder :-)
Oh Une, how did you part with the lab?
not easy, Annie -- he was, like most of these sweet animals, so starved for affection . . .
but he'll have a wonderful loving home in Minnesota :-)
i could not do it une....
The taking care of and transporting these wonderful dogs to new good homes is wonderful work
and Annie, it's amazing how many people are involved now in rescue animal transport . . . and the number just grows and grows
Une, do you keep pictures of all the rescue dogs you have sheltered and transported? It would make a good book
yes!!! In fact just recently I used Shutterfly to make some calendars with a different rescued dog I've "met" on each month -- am giving them to family and friend for birthdays/Xmas :-)
half way ladies... :)
am watching 'the closer'... i really like this show!!
would be a good fundraiser une
many drivers/ fosters keep pix :-)
me too, mrp!
Good day mates!
Une! I would love to buy one...that is so personal and priceless
carlee, many animal rescues do that -- sell calendars as fundraisers
it is so good! and the guest star in it is the guy who plays 'que' in star trek enterprise!
hi chic!!!
g'day matey!!
hi chic, havent seen you in a while
Hey mrp
chix1
the only thing that irritates me is her accent -- her hubby is from around here and she KNOWS that's an over-the-top inauthentic twang . . . sigh

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Chic

yeah, herin, but ..... books! lol
fireworks
woo hoo annie !!!! ~~~~ !!!!
I have been meaning to organize all my books in some sort of semblance
anyone like a clue before I head out?
No Book didn't you know that when you are decluttering the house that is the first thing to go
on ya annie!!
hi bob :)
hi infern **hugs** :)
Hey
no!!!!!!!!
clues available here too
how you going annie sweetie??
No it is true Book it really is. Apparently they are not the non living pets.
I'm doing okay, mrp...just wish this heat would let up
anyone decluttering their books, call me first!
oh no... never declutter the books!
Books are sacred
Book trust me this is the convo the MIL and I had.
I told her no no and no. That the books were the non living pets in the house
you keep all your books, but you keep the ones you want on the shelves and box the ones you don't need to look at... for 6 months. Then, after 6 months you open the boxes and take another look at them, then get rid of the ones you really don't look at
well, if they are romance novels missing their front covers, then by all means set them ablaze ...
i agree annie, books are very sacred!
(cough or if it is twatlight)
well, not ablaze! but free for sure!
These books are all RPG books and been collected for eons so the MIL can sod off
I have a full room of books in my library/music room
your MIL plays RPGs? wow
each year, I go through them, put away the books that are never touched, and box them
i like that 6-month rule you have, sounds like a good plan
after another year, I look through them again, and give them away to friends... but I put our family name and phone number in them, just in case we would like to 'see' them again
what is RPG's??
Role Playing Games
is it really almost Monday infern?? heck... that is just depressing!
role playing games... now I haven't played those in a long time!!
No the MIL is a b i t c h about books and thinks they are a waste of money
except with lickety in the special place!! LOL
she is wrong infern
herin, do you live under the same roof with your MIL?
would you like to know what my mother did with my books and magazines???
She has a screwed value on things
not sure i want to hear a tale of violence against helpless books ...
she ripped out pages of books (including my school books that I had to study from) and cut out all magazine articles she didn't want me to read... including the newspaper she passed down to me every evening.
???? !!
Mr pres side note yes it is nearly monday but I am too peeved to sleep
I recall another Austrian Dictator that did that... very sad stuff. She was brought up in a concentration camp by her fuehrer unfortunately. you agreed, or died
so, you haven't had ler locked up because ... ?
and yes, she brought her values to this country, and shared them liberally with me, but hid them from everyone else
up clues please
can't prove it gwen, but she will give over soon enough
up6, a word indicating direction
going skyhigh
up + a ****en runs a prison...and plural
hi molly :)
same word, up6 = up + the part of a hospital where they put all the nutcases ...
TY
wOW, just starting reading the chog!
gwen, it is a shame my mother had her 'demons'
how you going geek!?
yeah, but the demons got their hands on the books!!
yeah, she was a book burner
her upbringing was scary, but she hid it from the rest of society here
naughty, naughty demons!
makes her??? I don't know
well, I would never burn a book. Thank God my mother was not a lunatic about that
mr P what was up with your mom?
I would be so angry... getting magazines, newspapers and books with sections cut out, ripped out and blacked out.
what was her upbringing? I think I missed something earlier
good morning everyone:)
geek, she was very damaged.... very very damaged
hi crossy
a few yrs ago there was a bookdealer here (US) that burned some books as a publicity stunt. we bookdealers were shocked until we found out he was burning the crap books that no one can sell, and then we thought, good for him!
(yes, there are plenty of crap books that no one can sell, please don't be shocked)
I have to say that you can press books into a brick for fire lighters.
I personally would only recomend Twatlight
remove the pages from the bindings and recycle them, thats what i do
or try origami with book pages:)
my father is just an amazing, open and charming man... she was manipulative, deceptive, controlling and abusive... but only to my dad and me... everyone else saw her as an amazing, self-made, sacrificing woman
any clues posted?
yep, and there are some recycle centers that can take books, even without you disbinding 'em
indeed gwen
sure are mema... what would you like?
your mom sounds like my brother, mrp
I meant a clue list - I've worked through but still have 28 to go
Oh, Underlass, I enjoyed reading the twilight books
is so sad. she is living a suffering life now
how old is she mr p?
the books were very good! screw the twatlite movies thou
It was crap. Badly written and in American English which drives me spaz
mema... do you have babble expert??
yes, I do have Babble expert
or check out the way these people use dead books...
http://www.offbeatearth.com/dont-like- reading-other-uses-for-books/
I know, but i enjoyed
Opps I should say Modern American English
well, that should give you some help... otherwise, happy to clue what you need
hi crossy!! **hugs**
can't wait for modern english to be changed!
one left ta 5/14! cannot see it
(((MRP)))
Mr Pres have you seen how (sh### our papers are at reporting
lol indeed mrp
I have three animals asleep on my bed!! what the hell is this..?? stinky malinkies!
I have infern... they make up words as they go
done!
or this site: http://www.thisintothat.com/
No I meant story wise. If you are not a dead crack whore or a sports star innocent deaths mean nothing
ukuleles made out of books: http://www.baymoon.com/%7Eukulelebooks /
I have been debating the word 'through' to be changed to 'thru'... only makes sense in this time and age.
this means I must clean the kitchen now! lol
for why geek??
because I lazed around yesterday and did ZERO
gwen i once made a book shelf out of books, works great!
ttfn
innocent deaths are tragic and heartbreaking!
however, crackwhores and sports stars are equal in death
up with spelling reform! plenty of other countries do it, so why not all us engrishians??
see ya geek! :)
Yah Over lass
Actually the Through and Thru thing is just sheer laziness
no more killing the language mrp!..not long ago i read the novel "David Copperfield" and i was floored by the way language of the written word has subtly decayed from that time to this time!
not decay, just change
i almost had to learn to read again! lol
yes, we have old english, middle english and modern english... many many words can be moved to modern english and ultra english put thru!
I mean for the fact that you can't find news at all
sure let's go back to the long S that looks like an f!! (not)
morning, all!
it isn't a killing of the language crossy, just a modification of where we are now in our society.
hiya uusue
herin i use www.newsmap.jp there i can sift through the crap and get the real news of the day at a glance
I prefer modern english, even middle english, however, it will have to change
hi usue!! how you going sweetness?
english is changing all the time. look what has ahppened to capital letters for instance
hi all again
I'm good, mrp! How are you?
hi carlee! **hugs**
hi mrp...
i love victorian fiction and have retrained my mind to read it all, jules verne, cpt marryat, poe, doyle etc..was hard at first
hi, carlee, gwen, crossy!
doing good usue!! had a lovely day with 1 hour of 'don't make me kill you'... so that is a good day! LOL
howdy sue
That Crossie was not hard for me.
hi carlee...
i enjoy all languages and their old customs.
hi sue, mrp
i do a lot of reading of 19th-cent material, and i'm still in favor of spelling reform
when I was younger I decided that I would never patronize a business that misspelled words in its name - haven't been able to stick to that, though
so i just got crappy news... ( oh..yay )
?
what, carlee?
I had to learn Slovenian in the 'old' language, even though the people spoke the current form... the old people wanted to be spoken to in the traditional language
friend of mine ( my age0 just been diagnosed with cancer for 2nd timw
what carlee??? you ok?
she had mastectomy 2 years ago
the other day i drove past a preschool with a misspelled name, and i thought, oh, dear, those kids are already getting bad learnin'
oh, no, carlee!! that is so hard!
oh hunny! what cancer does he/she have??
she had a seizure this week... and docs originally put it down to an untreated sinus infectioin
i dont know yet....her son and mine are very close ( son just picked mine up to go hang for the day as he is upset....she will tell me when she is ready )
what shits me more than anything is when a word is used that is totally different to the meaning... like 'dear' rather than 'deer' when describing an animal
or i will hear from my son later
i get annoyed when someone can't spell its / it's
there are many cancers... and some are cureable... hopefully she has one that is easily treated.... 'prayers be'
ah, grammar
hopefully yes mrp
probably need to reform the apostrophe or at least figure out a better way of teaching how it works
i started going over grammar yesterday as it will becomes my life soon i hope
become* even....sorry...
I was chatting online with a customer service rep yesterday who used they're instead of their - she immediately corrected herself, and I was very impressed!
i remember learning about the apostrophe in elementary school and seriously, they did a crappy job teaching it
:(
don't apologise carlee... it is ok to err
I have pretty much given up on society
in fact i learned the difference between its and it's from an education tv show on canadian tv, not in school
don't become a recluse yet infern!! we need you out and about!
oot and aboot even herin
I learned most of what I know of English by reading (which I taught myself to do at the age of 4) rather than in school...
i nearly went recluse in 2005... was a tough tough year. thank goodness I had my friends to get me out and help me move forward
i know that i speak with excellent grammar ( may not type it as such )...but to KNOW the rules and to explain the rules is what i need to brush up on
well usue, you are a bright bright lady!
friends are invaluable!
and yes..you learn grammar mostly through osmosis
friends are everything!
thank goodness my husband is also my friend
the comma has been going out of style; compare how often they used to use it with how often they use it now
my mom helped a lot - she was a kindergarten teacher and read to me starting when I was very tiny - she would always run her finger along the words and I picked it up from than
friends are teh family y ou get to pick for yourself...( i have alittle plaque that reads that )
i am sorry for your friend carlee, and hope she had a timely diagnosis and that she wil respond well to treatments
i had an excellent math, science and literature education but grammar and writing lacked
I did the same with my son and he taught himself to read too
thanks crossy...
carlee, sending you good thoughts
and yes, carlee, I am holding your friend in my heart with hope
blessed be crossy... ditto to what crossy said
( and yet i did too..and my son abhors to read....my daughter does tho )
yep, i could already read a little when i got to kindergarten
thanks all...just say a prayer for her...no worries for me...
my son is middle of the road when it comes to reading for enjoyment.i on the other hand eat up books like a bowl of popcorn lol
comma or semi colon?
with loads of butter and salt..right crossy?
my daughter reads about 3 books a week
indeed
:)
i remember being in school, teaching trying to explain a syllable (or something equally simple), and just confusing everyone
( and likely home made bacon bits to boot )
actually on a side note,i now find popcorn too greasy with butter on it and actually prefer the shake on flavor powders they sell now
then there was the "run-on sentence" which the teacher could never explain clearly. (no, i did not write them!)
i was lucky enough to learn Slavic languages... and in exchange, i taught English... I learnt more English, when teaching Slavic based languages!! LOL
same crossy..lately i have been making it rather than microwaving..and just lots of seasalt..no butter....yummmmm
Frank eats tons of popcorn with butter and salt- since he can't eat wheat it's a big snack for him
shake on flavour powders?? sounds totally gross... sorry crossy! :))
I wish to apologise I am madam cranky pants today.
i can imagine
You know you can make regular popcorn in the microwave, without adding grease or anything?
no they arent MRP..is what kernals uses...
oh, no, food allergies! don't get me started ... lol
I bought a 50-pound bag of the stuff (unpopped) a few months ago, for about $50, so he won't be running out any time soon!
sorry i could not think of the word i wanted, they come in sour cream, bbq nacho etc
hahaha..no i dont imagine you wll sue
and herin, this is a very safe place for crankiness, as I have discovered many times, so please don't apologize!
is there bacon flavoured shake??
You know if you put the corn outside in this weather it would pop itself
carlee know the ones i am talking about
BTW crossy epicure sells some of those...and they are all low sodium
there is mrp
Add bacon flavored salt, mr P
( just an FYI )
Frank does his on the stove with a hand-cranked pot, says it's the best :-)
indeed samantha'
corssy likely fries upp a pound extra crispy then sprinkles over the buttered popcorn
popcorn popped in a micro just doesn't give you the joy of popcorn popped in one of the old grease machines
lol, cannot eat like that too much anymore carlee
i do in my frying pan
well, the f**ker's here don't have bacon flavoured salt!! I need to look into importing it!
( but i got you thinking didnt i?)
well, i'm off for now, best wishes for your friend, carlee
Mr Pres I can send you some
we have a popcorn maker... kids luv it! and they can set it up and clean it, and put it away!
can i mail you some mrp,or will they toss it at customs?
http://www.usafoods.com.au/
My husband can't have the salt, so he uses regular popcorn and pops it in the microwave. It's not "microwave popcorn", it's the same kind that (sue?) bought
bye, gwen!
Look, mr p: http://www.baconsalt.com/
where do you get it infern?
see ya gwen!
just plain old popcorn kernels is what I bought, from an Amish supplier
That's what I'm saying, sue. It pops in the microwave. All it needs is heat, and the microwave suppllies that.
although actually it is some kind of fancy corn
i have an air popper, but i prefer on the stove top in this big ole dented pot i have
bbs, lickety is stripping down for bed, and the cat needs to be removed... dog needs wee time and lickety needs sleep!
oh, I know, sam, but Frank likes the butter and salt; he uses coconut oil to pop it
just going to shut down the household... bbs
bye, mrp!!
Gotcha; we add butter later, but not much salt.
Bye Mr P
maybe because of the celiac he has really low blood pressure and cholesterol; his main problem is getting enough nutrients
i dont add butter..just finely ground sea salt...
(I am jealous of him, sort of)
Could anyone give me any clues for the 8 please? :-)
Celiac's disease sounds awful to me, sue. It's so easy to get sneak-glutened without doing anything wrong!
there's a grid? :-)
if u look to your heart u are looking the opposite of the ou8,70
sea salt is all i use now carlee,i have the great salt grinder and i buy the coarse sea salt from italy and this thing can do such a fine grind that i have cut my salt intake 75% and with no effort
Thanks!
indeed, sam, and he wasn't diagnosed until his mid-50s and so is extremely sensitive to even very tiny amounts of gluten - he has to be really careful
welcome becky
MR PRes that link
i have this MONSTER salt grinder ( is almost 2 feet tall )
thx, carlee, i got a bunch of words out of that!
mum got for me as a gag pressie for xmas one year but it does a fab job
welcome sue
So before that he was just, what, sick a lot and never knew why? How AWFUL for him!
I love salt grinders but all of mine have disappeared over the years - one of the down sides of multiple divorces, maybe :-(
Hello :)
he was sick his entire life, sam, it really was awful (we weren't together then but he talks about it)
he couldn't keep a job or anything (was spending too much time in the bathroom)
and hi sadie, I will stop discussing the down side of celiac disease now :-)
hi sadie
I'm so glad for y'all that he has an answer now.
ur 4/6 plz
Hi Sadie
nm got it
Sue we have a fantastic restaurant here called Silly Yaks.
with a gluten free menu?
Yes
The whole menu
hi sue carle and herin
cool!! wow, the whole menu? We found one like that in Minneapolis once but it closed :-(
ok..am off to shower..back in a few for last 24 words
there are a few restaurants here with gluten free items but none of them are close (at least an hour's drive away)
bye, carlee!
I have a lot of recipes
Sue, have you tried http://glutenfreeregistry.com ?
there are reviews for places that offer GF items and foods.
Sue: http://www.taste.com.au/ Under Advanced Tick Gluten free. I have had a fantastic hit rate of success of
From Aus Good Taste and SUper food ideas
I have, sam, that's how I've found a lot of places - we're just out in the cornfields and not near a lot of things
Oh, countrified. I feel your pain.
. . . And your pleasure, mind. The dogs are outside barking at a neighbor's goats right now.
any u clues?? I cant figure any out :(
just got ur 4 :)
although one of the restaurants in town is actually working on a gluten free menu - we went to eat there a few weeks ago and the chef came out to talk to Frank about what he could eat (it is a Mexican place so lots of corn)
Sue I hope that link helps
well, we're in town, sam, it's just a small Midwestern town
it does - thanks, herin! I have it bookmarked!
Lisa, that's the only U I have, and I didn't know how to clue it.
up6/39 and up7/56
yeah, how do you clue that one?? lol...
are there any pt words?
I was going to mention Little Miss Muffet...
hi, flosey!
up**** and on****
hi sue
yay...thank you!
pe, po only
If you need any help with stuff like what certain names are drop me a line at FB
thank you flosey :)
OH! I was going exclusively to the wrong P -- thanks, flosey
will do, herin - Frank
I am sooooo in search of a clue list! Anyone know of any posted?
sorry - Frank's first wife is British so he can usually translate :-)
got all the p's :)
uw Dsm
uw Sam
herin, I've got that site bookmarked too. I'm not GF but a lot of people I know are; it's useful to have those options to take to potlucks and such. Thanks.
That sight is useful for dairy as well.
or none dairy
Non even yesh
what does the 8 start with?
same with ou + wo4
ou + cons + wa4
what needs translating ( sorry am not following sa i read back in chog )
need a clue for am5 please?
English to English, carlee. :)
British culinary terms into American, carlee :-)
co 6/24 plz
oh...what was the term?
thank you flosey
Nothing specific. We were looking at an Australian recipe site and noticing that sometimes there were, well, potential issues.
ok... :)
8 - ou +cons wa4/9
none yet, carlee, it was just a general offer of assistance if needed
got all of my o's now too!
good for you Lisa
The Os and Is are my blank tiles. I get stuck on words that start with vowels.
out + ro4/5
morning folks - can I please have a clue for the 3rd or 4th fo5/18. lasy one and my brain is fryed!
me too, sam! I am missing the lower I and O and the P in the far right corner for nbt
hi, hoot!
Oh, I've got three of the top line Os because people have been cluing them. It's the ones with just oen word that are killing me.
hi sue
What you need to know is Caster Sugar is refined sugar - plan flour is all purpose flour. Golden syrup is hard to get in the States and Milk arrowroot biscuits can usually be found in the baby food isle under the same title
The P is just P4/6; it's pretty easy to monkey once you know that.
both build on the car...one is plural.one add a vowel
they are plurals of the fo before them
Haen't been following the chat. Is all well with everyone?
thx, sam!
Still lurgy and yesh it is 1230am
I have the plural. Every other combo says no!
Is babble just being mean????
Add a vowel to the car, hoot
1st fo 4 that plurals is a pioneer car manufacturer, the second fo 4 that plurals is a paper you fill out to get services
remove the last letter and add a vowel?
No. Take the four letter cr, andd a vowel
But remember that this one starts with a *different* F, the one in the lower left.
So you have more vowel options than you think. *ahem*
ah. thx, sam!
Hoot I am just poking words in doesn't seem to be working
I got it but thx Sam could not figure how! firebirds
yay, hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for hoot
Really? Congratulations!
Yah Hoot
congrats hoot!!!
the stupid part is that I never checked to see which one to use. Forgot it was even there. I may go back to bed.

Hi All
hi, hego!
Happy Sunday
ix * ending of fed*** man's hat
Look, there's the one other O, in the fourth column, that has only one letter. It's the only thing keeping my from NBT and coffee. Help?
thank you :)
that hat is also a clue
thx, flosey, would have taken my monkeys a while to find that!
yw sue
it's the or4/5, sam
55 left, but i think I will finish later...going to go take a nap on this very warm, lazy afternoon...
if you know the abbreviation for O'hare airport, add a vowel to it
bye, lisa!
so now I have nbs and nbt thanks to all of you!
wtg sue
the o in 4th col are all started with same tjing
yay sue!!!
No, the *other* O. Y'all are giving the clue for the one in the second column (fourth row); I need fourth column, third row.

You have funny birds where you live. giggle.

jet propelled birds;)
lol
i may have to move further north then shirloc
before we know, we'll be complaining about snow again.
just as bad in TO -- just talked to my mom -- have to move to churchill or iceland
i love the winter, just do not like it when it is a sloppy mess, but a nice crisp snow covered minus 20c is great for all kinds of fun:)
Brrrr!!
lol shirlock,i am 2 hours north of to and it is bad here..was thinking of 500 miles north of me
i complain about the cold, who doesn't, but with cold you can wear more clothing, not much you can do with this heat and humidity
i was thinking timmins and north of that
we used to live tween timmins and north bay years ago,so georgian bay and central ontario are like the deep south to us lol
I'm stayin' on the Jersey Shore!
At least we got ocean
i can remember as a child,my parents leaving all the taps running just a tad so that the pipes did not explode in the night when it went down below minus 40
Hey, I remember that too.
leaving a car running all night so you have a vehicle that will boost all the rest in the morning lol
i'm afraid of my electricity bill this month
The joys of older houses.
drawing straws to see who gets to go to the wood shed this time:)
ahh childhood;))
a toilet seat so cold in the morning when you get up to stoke the wood stove, that constipation was unknown lol
You lost me on that one.
Oh, Crossy. :-)
fond memories though,a place set up so that if you did lose the hydo, you hardly noticed, just lit the kerosene lamps and played a nice board or card game instead of watching tv
though once again you would draw straws to see who went out to the hand pump at the well cover lol
Sorry, Crossy, city girl here.
hehe
hego, there is nothing finer than working all day in the snow and the cold, coming home, putting all your gear in the mud room and stepping into the blanketing spoorific heat from a good wood stove.only problem was, after you had a bite to eat and warmed up,the thing was the best sleeping aid ever..nod off right in the kitchen lol

Hi, Judi
Blech. Had in once while in college. It was like drinking turpentine.
we used to drink this stuff called everclear back in the day.hehe, darn alcohol content was so high you could treat wounds and sterilize petri dishes with it lol
smirinoff isn't that great either..

Well, that would explain the drain bamage then.
I do like Grey Goose.
brain damage? what brain..err..mmm..what was it we were talking about again?
well grey goose is not bad either
i want to sample some of the higher end polish potato vodkas next
Grey Goose is good. Three Olives yummy. Hanger One is primo, if you can find it in the wild.

g,day mrp
I am a sinner *hand up* and trying to repent
I don't really look at it as sinning Judi as much as I see it as living..
i don't know if anyone can help me, but willing to take the chance
i once upon a time used to steal jesus fish off the backs of cars..think i saw that in a old seinfeld show..so i am going to hell twice
Sooo bloody hot here. Our home AC has been out going on third day now. Waiting on a valve thing-a-ma-giggy. Hope it comes Monday. Hubby and I are going to escape to the mall in a few moments.

hi nan!! :) good to see you!
Crossy! You naughty boy!
the mall is the best place on a hot day... and everyone else is there also!
I meet up with heaps of friends on a hot day! and especially on a pouring-down- raining-like-hell day
We have a portable unit in the bedroom, so at least we can sleep relatively sweat free at night. All shades & drapes drawn. Living in the dark. ON the up side, think of the money we're saving by not running the AC.
i used to wonder about the mysterious ways of god as a child.once when my 11th birthday was coming up,i prayed and prayed for a 3 speed bike, but when my birthday came around i found i did not get it...soooo i just stole one and begged forgiveness instead;)
we do too judi... is the only place in the house without a/c
Actually looking forward to going back to work on Monday. Always air there.
Crossy, you are such a rascal!
when summer comes round, will move a matress upstairs to the spare room with the a/c... take my naps up there

I thought about letting it go... considered my position in the community. Then realised that 'obsession and stalking' is not something that goes away. I have to draw the line so he doesn't do it to someone else when I am gone

OMG! guess what my son wants to do for his major PIP assignment?? Banana Cream Pie!! I have to video him making everything from scratch, explaining the whole process, making it, baking it and taking it to school

crossy loves naner cream pie
he is making the sweet pie crust, the custard and the cream from scratch!

i like to used grahm crumbs and butter for my sweet custard crusts

he is a fine chef
that's fantastic mr p..
he's bringing out his artistic side
i have taught my son... cook well, keep yourself clean and compliment every achievement your girl has.
he is ruuster!
he is amazing like that... he cooks at least 3 meals a week with me
that's a life skill that will last him his whole life.. really great mr p

or + I ** marriage vows
he told a funny joke about his asperger's today
there are over 600 gay marriages booked in NYC for this week.. how cool is that?
oh.. my nephew has asperger's too
lickety bought hamburgers yesterday arvo as a treat for the kids.... and .....
very cool
hi all
hi trent! :)
hi trent
so, he is wondering around the house and does a 'smelly' (fart)
I get it already
lickety says.... 'omg Luke, that smelt just like what you ate for lunch'... and Luke replies...
well I do have 'ass burgers'!
oh sheesh lol
good one -- and amazing sense of humour for someone with asperbers
he is a right card!
*aspergers (you know what I meant)
he has an incredible sense of self nan
although, he has been suffering bad from depression because of his primary school experiences... we have to send him to counselling for that again
so does my granddaughter but she doesn't "get" humour or sarcasm
My nephew is very serious with not much of a sense of humor either ..
I think that is a lifelong problem, mrp -- it isn't a matter of intelligence, which is usually very high, but a matter of attention span.
will be cool when the states catches up ruru, same sex marriages here are business as usual, not a big event, marry who you wish, adopt if you like ,fill out the govt paperwork and live your life
Luke keeps it all inside... and he cries only around me... and talks about it to me. I feel terrible for him, so he is off to the psych next week, and weekly counselling to help him out for a short while
bullies are awful mr p
yes crossy.. I can't believe how long a road it's been for some of my friends
Our son and d-i-l finally opted for home schooling -- the social aspect at school was so disturbing.
the lifelong problem is such, but he can overcome many obsticles with his sense of humour
ruru, he was bullied so bad, he finds it terribly hard to overcome it.
I was too.. it can be very scarring
Hi again, all! I also have a nephew with asperger's - he is a fine artist - you can see some of his works here: http://www.meronphilo.com/
the only thing that raised our eyebrows the last ten years or so was a woman who wanted to marry her horse..she was only turned down cause the steed in question was not the age of consent;)
I am determined to get him the best help, and get him feeling better about himself
glad they reined her in crossy
does anyone know what the 9 begins with?
OMG crossy! lol!
too funny ruuster!!
there isn't a nine nan
i know you pain mrp..our son has battled adhd since 2 years of age
there is no 9 hunny
I bet one thing crossie though...
my nephew still has trouble with interpersonal relationships but his art is starting to get noticed
nan, the 8 begins with ou
sorry -- the 8?
ty sue
but i must leave you all for now,as i am sharing a computer today..tc all and happy babbling...poink!
bye, crossy!
see ya crossy! luv to the missus
How could I have missed that!!!!!!
dang I was going to say that woman marrying the horse must have been chomping at the bit to get the ceremony to happen
lol, ruru!
bye crossy
i think the potential groom was worried about the "nag" factor"...real poink!
nbt,nbs
talk about a roll in the hay
yay, nan!
time to list though -- running out of steam
hehehe ruuster!
am watching 'wire in the blood'... darn it that they cancelled the program... is the best crime investigative TV I have ever seen!
besides the gore, it is great!
ok, accepting that I am not sleeping tonight... have to be up in 3 hours. no chance of rest :( but will make a lovely breakfast for the family cause I have time to prepare it!
how about pancakes with jam and syrup.... or eggs benedict... or homemade oatmeal with honey and vanilla bean
sorry you are unable to sleep, mrp - that sucks (am on sleeping pills now myself)
personally i would go for the oatmeal :-)
hi usue! **hugs**
anyway I have finished my tea, and we are off to see an art show (presuming it has survived the rain)
{{{{{mrp}}}}}
yep, oatmeal with soy milk and maple syrup
see you later!

hmm if it wasnt so hot round here oatmeal would taste good

sounds like when a person speaks slowly, maybe. :-)
thanks Wolvie and dose, last clue did it for me
sorry, disappeared for a moment... had to get a heatpack for the tumultuous knee!
my American relatives spoke that way
hi dos!! haven't seen you in a while! :)) **hugs**
hey flosey! **hugs**
hi MrP. :-)
see ya nan!
hi there ((mrp))
... I usually sign on just as you're going to bed ...
... the joys of being half way around the world
sorry dos... not sleeping tonight!!
... yeah I figured that ... must be about 3 in the morning where you are?
pretty young lady there dose
almost 4am
can't take a sleeper now... too late... and too early for my meds, cause they keep me up
oh mrp, and you should be sleeping soundly, time passes so slowly then doesn't it
oh, do you know what I did this morning - took sleeping pill instead of my bp pill!
i am having a cuppa tea out of a cup that has been super-glued together from all angles!
oh no flosey!!
guess I wasn't very wide awake
how are you faring now???
i would like to take a sleeper, but need to take care of kids in 3 hours!
not a good way to start the day - when I realized, I just went to read the daily news, knew I'd drop off to sleep again
first time I've confused them
poor flos!! hope the day gets better hun
and they're not alike at all
I will just have a lazy day
good girl... take it easy
are they similar in size or colour?
I won't drive
I didn't think that people living on Salt Spring paid attention to things like newspapers ... being nirvana and all that
best not to. clever
lol, we do have to keep up with what's going on in other parts of the world!
sorry dos?? what has happened?
...just a comment on flosey reading a newspaper ... the island she lives on is generally desired as a place to live by almost all Canadians its so nice ... so why bother with newspapers at all
no mrp, one is white and round, the other is yellow and oblong - no excuse to confuse
don't say that do Jillibus, dose, she is one who keeps abreast of everything, is always well informed
*to, not do
well flosey, I call that a brainfart... don't worry too much... at least you didn't do a Heath Ledger and take 3 times more cause you were confused BY druges
drugs even
ooooh, must move to Salt Springs!
oh would never do that mrp, be sure, I take 2 pills at night and realized as soon as I had taken one that I was off base
I lovemy ambien...
that is positive flosey... you are just having a 'day' of it. won't happen again
I ran out of one of my meds yesterday, and being sunday, couldn't get my script cause the chemist that is holding my script is closed! will hang out till 9am and go in for the refill
I have a feeling it has something to do with my 'lack of sleep', but can't say for sure
... as a mere suggestion ... ... keep a pencil and a small notebook by the medicine bottles ... and make note of the time and pill ...
I did the same thing once! took ambieninstead of my atenolol, and had to sleep instead of go horseback with the family...
It was ...OOPS
that is a smart plan dose, will do - actually my morning (BP) pill is marked by the days of the week
you are right dos... i can't depend on my mind anymore! LOL
hi kap :))
drugs are good. Just say yes. Hi mrp.
down to 21, must stop for breakfast, bbs
... came up with it when my mother was doing terrible things with blood pressure pills ... ... it helped her ... and let us know when she was screwing around and taking double doses after forgetting ...
see ya flosey! enjoy your brekkie

hehe. pretty well. it's nice to have a weekend off. watching alton brown make lasagna
weirdly, he doesn't seem to be using any cheese...
oh man that sounds good
oh no has to have tons of cheese
i know! it's really weird that he's not using any...
my daughter is coming to visit in october for my bday and thats on the list of things to do make several batches of lasagna
hehehe. hmmph. i am losing my faith in AB's taste in lasagna... he put mozarella on top after it was cooked, no other cheesey goodness...
ew thats spagetti isnt it lol
no, there was lots of meaty goodness, and the lasagna noodles, of course.
but i think there should be ricotta layered in with the sausage.
well i meant like spagetti lol
noodles meat and tomato sauce
no cheese is just kinda weird
course then again , tis alot better for you then the way i make it :)
nonsense. add more cheese, eat a smaller portion. :)
it's comfort food, not spa food! :)

Thanks, flosey. Murphy, the dog, is in obedience training. The third level (we're so proud.) His best trick is sleeping and he also will do some fetching and bringing that makes us very happy. He is a good companion.
does he sleep on command
flosey those bodies of water in Norway
?
good for you, getting him obedience training
thanks hego
yw
He goes down on command and if we're doing something boring (like Babble), he sleeps.
beautiful stidg
Good dog!
we really must get another dog, it's just hard to think of replacing dear old Misha
Well, I need to fix lunch. We're going to see the younger Stidkid in his performance of Cole Porter's "Anything Goes." Never do replace the pets in our lives. We waited too long to find another companion but sometimes the companion finds us. Sort of that way for Murphy and us.
Give yourself time flo.
we have a neighbour dog that loves to come over to visit - looks a lot like yours, stidg
it's been 2 years hego, and we live on a vegetable farm, need a dog to TRY to keep deer out, etc
Be getting along. Good week All.
We had a golden colored lab before but this fellow is "yellow" really mostly white. Lunch -- sorry. Must go.
Bye

5TH COLUMN P stats please?
NEVER MIND
How about the stats for the U please?
not seeing the dr5/16 either
peri do ou have the dr 4/9?
peri, spelled differently but sounds like something that's sagging
I have the dr4/9
have never seen this spelling
dr4/9 ... make a picture with a pencil
the dr4 has nothing to do with dr5/16, dr5/16 comes after dr5/20
good clue, flosey, thanks
yw peri
need the ta5/12 that comes before the ta4 (root)
flosey when you are late you are ta*** but change the last letter to a vowel
I believe it means "slow" in musical terms (Italian?)
thanks peri and Molly, and that's fireworks

Have you tried the on screen keyboard?

hi folks! (FLOSEY!! I posted that recipe for you in my profile!)
dang it ... missed her.
what recipe
there was a long food discussion .. i mentioned blackberry catsup (and how good it is on catfish, lamb, on a cracker with some crumbly white cheese), and flosey asked for the recipe
darn... now must go look...
requires energy to click ; )
it's a recipe i found many years ago in one of my cookbooks, took a little while to find it
that looks interesting, welk... bet it is really good on cheese, like sheep cheese
yep, or a nice tart goat cheese
that sounds good too
i?
don't have it, sorry
found it, want a clue?
sure, thanks :)
ix5/20 - ix + prefix meaning mouth
thanks! and on that note, i'm taking myself outside for a while ... later, kje
hagd!
Hello...

How are you, kje?

Wow, that is a long haul!

Hot!
But interesting...I'm single again...
So I'm doing the online dating thing...
saw that on your status - how is that going?
doig POF again?
It's kinda fun for the short-term. Yes POF and Match.com
you are brave - i find that kida scary
It is scary...
Yet exciting...I might find another Tim! Well, not another Tim, but you know...
No matter what word I try to add, I get a message tthat it's not in the puzzle.
yes, I know... you two inspired me to do it... I am on chemistry

Hooray for kje!
thanks!
I confess to being a buzzkill and a bad spouse.
good to see you, jellen... good luck on POF etc... I hope you find aother just as sweet
lol kap
I think that is my cue to poof
Good to see you too, kje!
Aww...Kap...
I am though.
I knew going away with spouse to see inlaws in Maine would put me in a bad headspace.
Why can't I just enjoy myself in the country?
Oh, in-laws...
... there's no concrete ... and too many out-laws ...
Maybe because 20 out of 23 summer vacations since we've been married have been married have been negotiatedaround inlaws
Oh, that sounds like my former marriage :-(
The Oslo massacre makes me sick to my stomach- my youngest is away at camp and I keep picturing
My husband is a typical first husband
But we're still married
divorce is expensive
and anyway, once you have kids, you're forever bound\
Maybe some counseling is called for...
I told you I am a buzzkill today
Done that- and I do it for a living...
Aw...
don't come too close or I will wreck your day!
BUZZKILL
:(((((((((((((((((((((
(((Kaplan)))
So, are you still on said vacation?
No I am home but bummed.
Bummer...
I would have been better stayinghomeon my own- I have done that in the past and really liked it
But no, I went along...
That's what my sister does when her dh goes home to Australia...
I SHOULD have like it- it was near Bar Harbor, very nice- Vacationland
But I just felt all the memories of previous years and previous vacations-
the only reprieves are when we go places on our own- at this point, I don't mind the inlaws- I just start hating my spouse!
BAD HEADSPACE.
But enough griping- there are grids to conquer.
Sounds like a solo vacation/retreat might be good...
Oh, I hit the halfway point! I can go to the list!
crossy is back:))) howdy again everyone:)
ugh these F words are killing me ~grin~
hiyas Crossy
ya know I sure thought frome is a word but I cannot think of what word I have seen before that is like that
i think there is a ye olde english work like that, but i cannot pin it down either
yes that is what I am thinking too
you know, nifty words like gaol and such
Frome is a town and civil parish in northeast Somerset, England I found that and fromel when I googled it
exactly crossy
well the I found 5 words that use the same root in the fo list, and the root is, fo 4/8 A dress fo** is used by dreessmakers when making a dress
yay finally got that upper right P strange word
Afternoon Cross and Meliae
back sorta
and hello again JMC.
chatting with customer service about my internet connection in another window
ask for new modem
i did that last month crossy :-)
i am trying to use the network to transfer files between computers but my internet doesn't want them both on at the same time
half way for crossy!
Jmc, my friend from Ghana is home again . Thanks for the help. The online description of their emdicla faiclities is quite less encouraging.
if the computers are in the same building just load it all on a flash key and save your sanity lol
By the Way, was the Eoropean historp professor at the U of Chcago with your last name, any elation
i imagine jmc,you will have to create a new internet conexion with the problematic computer
the one that was added the latest will be the one
*tiptoes in to hugs Kaplan and tiptoes out again* see you-all again another time... *poof*
hi/bye stidmama
sigh
my flash key is not big enough crossy or i would
my internet providers say the issue is the settings in my router and are telling me to talk to them
whatsthematter kap
My husband is acting like everyone's first husband.
My husband is acting like everyone's first husband.
hi inge glad it worked out
well just make sure you aren't acting like everyone's first wife ;-)
I am, unfortunately, and am not having a good day.
*opens notebook and hangs up sign "The Doctor is In"*
well some babble love should set you right and then you can go hug him and kiss him and make up -- one of the best parts of marriage as i recall
it's all in the chog and I am not inclined to repeat my whining- but thanks anyway.
oh i can go back and read it--sorry did realize you had already vented
Itt's not that compelling, really...
Kap, visits with in-laws rarely go well. Too bad lovely Bar Harbor was tainted by that.
At this point, my inlaws are detoxified- it's just the whole dynamic of being there.
it took my husband several years to realize that we could only stand visits with either set of in-laws of 3 days or fewer
More my own sour mood than anything they did- except I missed the blowout fight between them and one of their sons
and i really liked my mil!
This was a full week.
Sorry you didn't have a better vacation Kap.
well there you go--fish and guests (or in-laws)! as my husband used to say
I blame me, ultimately.
hi Molly... pleae accept my apologies for the other day. I took the teasing too far and didn't mean to upset you. I will not do that again.
Water under the bridge Ru.
hi ru
hi ru
*hic*
oops- I missed something here, it seems. Hope all is OK.
Kap, quit beating yourself up. On to better days.
Pow pow pow.
self-flagellation is fun.
use a whip it is more fun
Kap, if I didn't know better, I would think you were Catholic. Alas, guilt trips know no religious boundaries.
*pulls on black boots*
Hi Babble land
brb
JM is kinky
hi all, 1/2way & going to the list
back--moi
Hi Sue
hi Dr
Kap is major buzzkill today- maybe you want to avoid me
I think to go to the list and find another 10 before even going
it's the threat
Should I wail, or sit sheva or something?
who are you threatening sue?
moi
me to go to the list
Oh, I thought you meant Molly.
sit sheva that is more fun
no one would dare threaten molly!
You can have palpitations from the aggravation.
I have never thought of sitting sheva as fun ... hm
You can have palpitations from the aggravation.
I know! I'll be verklempt!!
Then you can call the doctor.
For the high blood pressure.
well it was very funny in weird way since you tell stories and laugh
verklempt! what a great word!
This is a bizarre conversation- sorry I am off my game.
This is a bizarre conversation- sorry I am off my game.
are these conversations accessible to anyone on the internet?
*Puts out challah and Ben Ami Chardonnay*
probably
JMC, have you never seen Mike Meyers do Linda Richman on Saturday Night Live?
Yikes.
no i have not molly
**tiptoes in to sit shiva** (though I'm not sure for whom)
Kaplan, they are...
it's like buttah
Hi Krista.
Very funny stuff. She uses the word "verklempt" all the time.
no one will be looking at them--they would have to know that it is there
this is true, occasionally the chat log comes up on google, but not in a way that would make anyone want to lok.
Red! How are you?
i am not sure either krista
I am good Krista.
dreadful thought
..... thinking I have wandered into a parallel universe... Hello fellow Babblers, I come in peace -)
We are sitting shiva for Kap's lousy vacation.
66 left, love when numbers repeat
Hi Soodle.
Ah, that is a loss.
BBL.
I just got the hairpiece. Damn.
by red
bfn, Red
Why was/is the vacation lousy?
ar5?
It's a long dull story.
On to happier things...read any good books lately?
:( Sorry on all counts.
ar 5 is what gertrude stein said is itself...
ar 5 is what gertrude stein said is itself...
nm
got it
I just put my nm in the lickety box by mistake
ok grid, you will not defeat me. I will finish you.
thought it was an easy one at first...
There is definitely a 'vehicular' theme to today's grid. I have a couple of car manufacturers, fi 4/7 & fo 4/8, & plural, a cab - ta 4/9, and a shortened word for au**mobile.
stats on the 8?
same here
so much faster when the monkies have direction
ou 8
pl of the 7
ou 8/70
do you want a clue?
nah
*Sings "Baby You Can Drive My Car" after Soodle's comment*
How are you transatlantic Babblers surviving the heatwave? It made the news here tonight... (after the tragic events in Norway and Amy Winehouse'es demise).
It's something else, Soodle. We had a bad day when the AC went out. But just staying inside a lot.
Staying out of it mostly. My kid is going nuts because he can't walk. He walks two miles a day.
as long as we stay hydrated, we will survive this...many people live with this kind of heat all the time.
can't stay too ladylike though when I am sweating so badly!!!
Yes, and those people are used to this kind of heat. We are not. That makes a BIG difference.
My daughter is the same, Molly. She keeps trying to go outside and ride her bike, but it doesn't last long.
Keep well, cool and hydrated, all you melting Babbler!
Erm.. BabblerS!
Thanks, Soodle. It is supposed to cooler tomorrow.
I have to admit, while this weather feels brutal, I like it better than the snow.
Molly, maybe I'm a bit fixated on vehicles at the moment. My daughter bought her first car yesterday... High excitement chez Soodle as a result!
No matter how hot it gets, I will never utter the vile words "I can't wait for winter."
Aw, milestone moment for Soodlette.
Big time! Now all she has to do is learn how to drive the thing.....
Exciting!
My daughter could get her learners permit next month, but doesn't think she's ready. *wipes brow*
Wait, wait, she bought a car and she doesn't know how to drive? Or is it a stick? *Shudder*
Seriously, every time a new license is issued to a youngster, a Valium prescription should be issued to the parents.
any clues for co6/24?
Agreed!
co + m4
Its an elderly, tempramental VW, but with a mother like me, she is used to the elderly, tempramental thing. She knows the nuts and bolts of driving, but she has never been on the open road. She will get her 'Provisional Licence' on Wednesday next, and then she can get insured, and after that, its vroom vroom vroom. And her mother knocking back valium/brandy/whatever!
co6...***e and see me sometime + a garden h*** sprinkles water.
Sorry - My 'S' key seems to be sticking....
Are drivers' education classes required there, Soodle?
thanks molly and bzznbea
First, they have to sit a theory test, Krita. Then 10 diving lessons, and after that, 40 hours with a qualified driver. Its gonna be a long road......
co + m4???
Em... that would be dRiving lessons, rather than the scuba sort.....
Similar to here, then. Yep, a long, nervewracking road, lol. Darn, diving lessons would be a fun break from all the driving stuff. ;)
Clearly my R key is gone out in sympathy with the S key :-(
Um...no diving in the car...(shame on me)
Molly!!!! As if my stress levels weren't high enough!
does anyone have a clue for the fi 5 or 6?
Norwegian waterways, stick another vowel in the middle of the make of car.
Car make with an extra vowel
thanks again molly, 7 to go and will prob need lots of clues
hey alls.
I'm glad no one can see the words my monkeys are trying.
hi jes
hey its jessmaom's daughter
does anyone have a clue for the ro 5 & 6
Hello Jessmom's daughter! I'm guessing your Jess?
Not Juliet
thanks, molly
hey alll... we keeping cool?
molly, has ru been able to find you yet? he asked to let you know he was truly sorry, just kidding and will be more mindful in the future - he does get carried away
It's all good Dorens, thanks.

*I think I can I think I can* Hey TO
Hi TO
How was/is the music fest?
thanks yet again molly, youre awesome
ok final word
hi krista, molly. it was intersting, i did not work today, jus tlistening now in the radio live
I feel sorry for the bands in this heat (and the workers...and the audiences...).
i was peeved because they said they would feed us and they did not. it was BRUTAL luggung stuff on friday all day
Oh geez, I bet!
I can't believe that people weren't dropping like flies hauling equipment.
Hope they at least provided liquids.
i liked citizen cope and guy davis jr. i did NOT like joseph arthur and the north mississippi allstars duo weas ok
today was a good lineup but i just did not want to work, i was due to work 5-8
I was supposed to go camping and Park Questing this weekend, but bowed out. So glad I did, with the heat, and now it's raining. Dodged a bullet with that one.
friday was just unbelieveable, lugging gear on the brick alkways and up and down the hills. the aquarium children;s arden had those step on fountains and we wore them out krista, good call, did you have bad storms? it spritzed here and it is like a sauna. we hit 103
yay fireworks
anoyone need clues before I go
yay berri!
Bad storm here Friday...a horrible freak thunderstorm...but just cloudy today. But it's cats and dogs in western MD where my friends are camping. TO, I would have passed out for sure in your shoes. Ugh.
thanks jess
Nice one, Berri! I'm struggling with the am 5/14. I'll take a clue, please.
wd, berri! we did have a small room at the children's garden to rest in. it had to be done, the gates opened at 5
"The show must go on," right?!
at one point i got chilled and remembered that is a bad sign. i high tailed it into the aquarium lobby sorry, all *zips it*
am then go around in a circle
Will have to look for that...ty for clue.
literally, type the letters
OH LOL...ty.
np
Which way does the circle go? clockwise? counter?
I'm thick
am 5 sealed with a kiss
keep going from the am
ben folds is on now, i like him. krista, come to the REAL festival in august.
go upwards
ben folds rocks
That happened to me once at RFK stadium in July...people were passing out from heat left and right...I started to get shaky and cold...went home and missed the festival...was thinking about it..good acts in August
thanks....
ph krosta, it would be my pleasure to show you around. all babblers, in fact
Hi again, all! Back from the art festival - it was great!
hi uu
Hubby loves STP...I saw them in the lineup, right?
hi, TO!
That's a nice offer, will let you know, TO!
Hi Sue, ruru and smoove
time to supplement the back of jax with real food. if anyone wants music to babble by,
http://www.xpn.org/music-artist/xpn-st ream
Hi, Krista! Nice flower!
<--- is out of date with music
I took that pic last year, Sue, thanks. No time for garden this year, sadly.
hi, sorry forgot about taking a quiz
bummer, Krista! Our garden is very overgrown but the native plants are having flowers anyway :-)
last final tomorrow then I have graduated
susan wernder and emmy lou harris next. don't like either that much
The butterflies will thank you, I'm sure.
great, sue!!
oh, the butterflies and birds are very happy in the garden, Krista!
co6,24 pls
so sue, what degree will you be receiving?
that's terrific, sue f! congrats! dang, TO...no Duncan Sheik. Now that's a real shame (sarcasm)
co + most of the ten commandments guy
co6/24 has the same ending as the ra6/21
co + elk like animal minus a vowel
So what is your kind of music, ruru? I picture liking Sinatra. Don't know why.
no..lol
I just don't listen to music much anymore.
krista, you must remember to use sarcastic font ;)
I like all kinds of music actually
I even like some country western .. which used to be my least favorite next to rap
Oh, wish there were a sarcastic font. I'd use that as default. Me too, ruru..and ditto on the last point. My husband thinks I've lost my mind.
i am making lovely tomato basil and cream cheese sandwich on le bus whole grain baguette
My parents were really into SInatra however.
ty, that is A,C & D
yum temple
ooh, yummy, TO!
and ty for the ra6 also
My 15 year old daughter got me into him a couple of years ago, strangely enough. doo be doo be doo
i wish i got that clue
ok time to go. Thanks eveyone for all your help
that does sound tasty TO
bye, berri!
I liked the 'co + most of the ten commandments guy"
someone at the festival made them, looking for a barrier for the tomato since they would be in the cooler all day
sounds like you guys are getting pounded with a heat wave
Yum, TO...my basil is bolting (ouch) so that would be a good use for it...one of the two things I managed to plant this year
cream cheese worked better than the usual mozzarella
is cream cheese really fattening?
We are under the Heat Dome, unfortunately. I get the 1/3 fat cream cheese and eat 3x as much of it.
i use neufchatel. only n excess
a schmear of it won't hurt you, but yeah, it's fatty
Cream cheese is slightly less fattening than butter.
Cream cheese is slightly less fattening than butter.
But only slightly.
(sorry for the hiccup)
oh.. I kind of thought so
krista, bill morrissey fdied today!
I just turned down ice cream. :/
I really love it on english muffins
who's bill morrisey?
Don't know him, TO. Now if MORRISSEY died, I'd be upset.
you turned down ice cream? unheard of!
hi all...clue please for ou6/33 please?
not in and not peace flask
thanx ruru!...
Really, jes...at least the heat kills my appetite a little.
TO...I can't find the link to the August festival lineup...
folk singer songwriter.
http://tinyurl.com/l9dnzq'
but but... it's ICE CREAM. it's perfect for hot weather.
or cold weather.
the up words...no clues, please...are they obscure?
or any occasion.
below link is bill morrisey. krista: www.fest.org
sorry, tiny url is bill morrisey singins handsome molly, which i thought some might like ;)
I agree, Jes! Shame he passed on, TO.
Crap, I'll be in Atanta when STP is playing. I got tickets to Antiques Roadshow!
stp?
Stone Temple Pilots
now krista, you know i hardly pay attention to the paid acts, though we have some grat one sin the cafe this year. the free stages are where it;s at! I am doing the kids stage both saturdays
I love Stone Temple Pilots. Scott Weiland has an amazing voice.
I'm sure you're right. I usually like the unknown opening acts better than the headliners when I go to concerts. But it would be nice to see Steely Dan before they die.
any suggestions for internet-available cooking shows?
Indeed, Molly! Unique, too.
The Moravian Trombone Choir is performing. Sorry, that sounds really funny. And I used to play trombone in band.
well i have a ticket to sell. really.
Do you have Netflix, Jes?
yes, krista
Do you mean instructional, or just cooking related? We've been watching the UK version of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
What is your ticket for, TO?
steely dan. great seat.
I'd need two, but wow, that's tempting.
entertaining and instructive, ideally
we've caught up on all the alton brown.
www.hulu.com has most (all?) of Food Network's chefs' programs...was just going to suggest Good Eats
ok, have to have clue for the up words...hope they are not fishy
i KNEW i should have bought three. now i will have to eat it or sell them both and gnot go :(
i cannot afford to take the loss.
I didn't realize you were going (thought you bought one but couldn't use it now). Let me think about it tonight and I'll get back to you. I'd really love to go, but not sure when I'm getting back from Atlanta.
ok, i am actually planning to stay over that night but have not yet booked a place
(depends on if my sister is coming to MD with me from GA...long boring story)
well severl people expresses interest but ultimately changed minds
I'd have to stay over, too.
We've killed the chog, TO, lol. Sorry, all. I'll get back to you tomorrow for sure.
oh i am so sorry, everyone. *poof*
You dont have to poof, TO!
ru5,14?
Clue for the up words if anyone is here, please?

Indian money
i haven't got them yet, krista, sorry.

nope, don't have it...go jes! 42 left here
fireworks :)
my favorite color (or non-color as my son calls it)
oh, i see you found it without my clue... well, yay jes!
I needed it, ty Dorens. I can't tell if TO was upset or not...
hm? will scroll back
I just joked that we killed the chog (I do it all the time) and she immediately "poofed."
oh... hard to say. people do kill the chog, so do I, no reason for that to upset anyone tho. but you never know what will touch off sensitive people, especially with the heat we've been having. I'm sure she's fine..
Hope so, thanks Dorens.
steely dan, huh? tempting, but...
hi all...clue please for ra6/21?
I figure they won't be touring forever. :)
pretty coincidentally, I happen to be listening to michael brecker right now. too late to see him, unfortunately
ra+ ****s and the burning bush
not upset, just abashed
Sorry, TO. I am famous for killing the chog, so it was just another day for me. :)
thanx Dorens...nice to see you!
these tomatoes are not ripe enough for a sandwich but it is pretty ok! and I don't liek tomatoes in sandwiches
yw flask. and owl, no reason for abashment either. what the heck... sometimes the chog is killed so easily because there really isn't anyone else around with anything to say
you didn't "kill the chog"... hard to imagine what's happenin' on the other side of the keyboard..
i have some great tomatoes from the farmer's market yesterday
doren: cream cheese basil and tomato on le bus bread
worth making a sandwich just for the tomatoes.. the only kind i really like... a reason to enjoy august
hm... cream cheese, not mozzarella? but the fresh basil.. mmm. i think it's something i would definitely eat, but for the fat content of the cream cheese.. avoiding fat these days like the plague
what is le bus bread? (i'm avoiding most bread too)
use neufchatel. someone tried them as a apckable lunch, to be a barrier from the tomato and they are yummy on whole grain
I HAVE to try that combination...ty Christa (haven't seen you in ages!)...you may be right..just feel like I bore people
don't be silly Krista... looks like you were having a conversation... no law against that... and not boring. now, I am boring, but i chalk that up to old age :-)
Thank you.. the chog is the some of the reason I joined. Love the talk... just don't know when to jump in.
Ok, my sweaty kids are coming inside for the night. Time to hose them down. Night all! TY, Dorens...you are far from boring. You Da Woman. Owl..I'll get with you tomorrow via email.
le bus? the food bus that used to be down by Penn? oho, a pair! ;) krista, you never bore me, for one
and sometimes i know i'm talking too much. if it offends anyone... oh well
oh no... what else was at the farmer's market??
Ty, Owl. I think I bore myself. Nighters all!
amazing peaches.. i am overdosing on peaches right now
Dorens, I don't believe I've ever seen you go on and on here. : D
and you know those little sungold tomatoes... like cherry tomatoes, but yellow and so sweet they should be illegal!!
juice dripping down my are.. here I come. Lovin' me some cherries. And food blogs.
yup, the peaches are so juicy you really need to eat them outside or over a plate
molly, that's sweet, but were you using your sarcastic font???
No Dorens, no sarcastic font. : )
ok, then maybe we aren't always on at the same time! cause i know i talk too much in real life, and sometimes here (but i make up for it with the occasional lurks)
christa what food blogs do you like? i've been spending far too much time online browsing some of them... so very addictive, particularly since i'm sort of dieting
A peach that is so juicy that you have to take care how you eat it, is a beautiful thing.
doren, don't think of it as dieting. you are enjoying summer's bounty! I see peaches and think summer sangria. i also tried ranier cherries today.
oh yes, and i will be eating them daily until they're no longer around.. sometime in september
Wednesday Chef, smitten kitchen, & cheese and biscuits...
and you, Dorens?
i mix them with fresh blueberries and nonfat yogurt and sometimes a ground oats/walnut mixture... breakfast every day
Can we find you in the kitchen on a regular basis, Temple Owl?
well yes, but mot cooking, usually foraging! ;) hoever i have vowed to cook more again.
101 cook books, kalyn's kitche, the perfect pantry
or make sangria?
good choices, I know those.
simply recipes. others i can't think of names now, but i kind of fall from one to another and get lost
Hi again, all, back from dinner to see if I can find the last 69 words...
doren, how about the splendid table? now that njn radio has merged with whyy you can listen, their blog has some great stuff
hello sue
hi, doren!
ok, will check that too. for the most part, i'm looking for non-meat, or little meat... very low fat, only whole grains, and quick to make, as well as including nice spices and herbs. healthy, and i do love vegetables
hey dorn
doren that is
hey ru. just ordered the white you mentioned... less than $10 a bottle. can't wait till they get it in!!
oh great. it's really good for the $..
one day they advised someone on making a pasta room temp with lemon rind and olive oil and other things. btw hat happened with publuc radio in nj that they switched to our staion feed?
i was liking the menetu too much... would never last at the rate i'm drinking it
let me know if you like it
lol told ya so
i am putting lemon zest in so many things owl... makes a big difference
Hi all. Can't play on I pad because screen is taken up by keyboard. Too bad.
ruru, i may not trust you in all things, but i will always trust you in wine
oh *shocked look*
i eant a cheap white for making summer sangria, advise> something sweet i guess
doesn't have to be sweet TO
maybe a nice inexpensive German rielsing for sangria
http://splendidtable.publicradio.org/
ru, did you ever get into the bremer family winery, st. helena? i really want to know how you like it
riesling was the first i thought
though there are dry rieslings as well as sweet
I did call them.. but they had a large group coming by.
call again,man!
yes TO.. if it says Kabinett it is usually drier
oh, and owl, a propos to your earlier comment, yes, it is dieting if the goal is to weigh ten pounds less than i do now!
german rieslings are really inexpensive in most cases too
dr5,16?
dr + s***rman
it as the first wine i ever drank - aside from boone;s farm and md 20/20. on plane back from oregon.
mine was mateus. and lancer's
doren: cognitive therapy ;)
other than the good stuff my dad always slipped me
ty doren d's done
mine was a chianti
don't know why i had a thing for portugese rosé
i think i liked the way the bottles looked. I do remember them on the bookshelves with dried flowers in my old apartment in philly... circa 1970
yes! i remember that! had one in the basement of home for ages. doren, that was just what was marketed then.
owl, you actually drank mad dog? my alcoholic friend from East Orange said that is what all the winos and bums drink!!! tastes like koolaid, doesn't it?
*passes out*
anyone have a clue for the tu6? so i can be done and go get a glass of wine?
past tense of football field
owl? ruru passed out.... where are you?
doren splendid table has lots of veg recipes, you would love them
*Shamefully admits to Boone's Farm. Happy to report never touched MD 20/20*
ty ru! owl, i have opened s new window at the address... now that i've gotten my fw, I can get a glass of wine and read them.
ii mean, i think you would like them and in summer they are easy. did you ee think of buying a farm share?
btw, ru, tu6 is what the kids around here did when they drove their cars up on the high school lawn and wrecked the grass
you have to start with wine somewhere I guess
oh ty moll, i thought i must bear the scorn alone ;)
no farm shares available here.. they're usually in cities, but I do go to local farms and farmer's markets all summer long (and all through october)
no owl, she says she NEVER touched mad dog. where and when did you drink that stuff?
I remember Boone's Farm, and Lancer...
at temple
oy vey
Yes, but I copped to Boones Farm, not MD. The first boy I ever kissed tasted like Boone's Farm. : O
hey, i was at temple when you were!!!
i did think that boone's farm tasted like summer camp (apple juice, i guess).
well you were a maarried lady or i ould have invited you over for some
as long as it wasn't Pat Boone Molly
but when i was at temple, i just went to classes... went back home to the hubby, drank my lancer's, and smoked my weed
pat boone lived in teaneck! no maligning pat boone
No, I used to go more for the bad boy type. I have refined my taste since then.
ur4 ?
yes! his wife gave birth at holy name while i was a candy striper there, as did bob gaudio's
owl, on the homepage of splendid table there's a link to someone's reviews of queens restaurants. Since i ate at m wells diner last week with rachel, i checked, and of course it was high up on his list.
o
i'm going to teaneck tomorrow. old friend's mom is in a "home" there (where she used to live) and we're having lunch with her. She's 94. i like to see her at least once a year
who is bob gaudio?
most of what little miss muffet had Shadow
four seasons.

doren i am jealous. i need to get a gentleman friend who likes fine dining
yeah.. TO you need to stay at dinner longer than ten minutes..lol
fi5,18 pls
i have really become loathe to dine alone. recently alked out of a place who dissed me because they did not ant to seat a single diner
water in New Zealand sue
ru?
wasn't your last date a guy you spent like ten minutes with? or one of you recent dates.. I think you didn't like him.. he was not your type
oh i only wish it were onlyu ten minutes! the one where i took my dinner home in a doggie bag?
I thought it was waterways in Norway.
They have them in New Zealand too, Molly
Wow, that is insulting to be dissed because you are a single diner.
that's the guy TO
i always think if them as scandinavian, the word is scandinavian
although it is usually spelled with a j....
Me too TO. That f word and New Zealand just don't mesh for me.
yes molly. i have become accustomed to they "just one" and resistthe urge to look behind me when i am asked :P
oh.. that's where I've seen pictures of them. I am dying to go to New Zealand
not getting it
f15,18
and i absolutely refuse to sit near the kitchen or service station.
Apparently, both spellings are acceptable. Having Norwegians on one side of the family, my thoughts naturally turn that way. Sue, stick another vowel in the middle of the car make.
deep water channels in Norway, sue, usually spelled fj---
Fi5/18 in Oman, too - well, that's what they called them for the benefit of we English (Norwegian?) speakers, anyway.
They have them in Oman?
i once ate dinner alone in paris, and couldn't get them to bring me the check... looked right through me while they were dealng with all the couples, etc. I finally got up and started walking to the door... honestly, it was the only way i could get their attention. was a while before i felt like eating dinner alone again!!
hello all -- fireworks.
i mean, i know they don't bring the check without the nod from me, the little, "l'addition, s'il vous plait", the air scribble or whatever. still... they wouldn't acknowledge me. and yay jilli
Gee, I've never had a problem eating alone, anywhere (including Paris) - perhaps I am intimidating? (or perhaps I only eat at cafes or something?)
yay, jilli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do men dining alone have the same problem? I very much doubt it.
no, of course not, jilli. but then again, they're men.
Thanks, "guys"!
Yes, in northern section, sep.from rest of Oman by UAE - Musandam Peninsula - only small, not really what we might term a fi5, I suppose, but long enough to scoot along in a boat with dolphoins swimming in the wakr - a beautiful memory!
