I haven't seen this in a game before, but the team got 6 cards because of the behaviours/arguments from the coaches/managers and the spectators. If only they would have shut up, the ref would have been able to deal very nicely with them
hi nan

I think I saw some videos on facebook, but I didn't watch... they are usually uncomfortable for me... last year our daughter was there - if she hadn't had a bridal shower to attend, they would have been there this time... gives me goosebumps to think about it...

hey rubyfoo :)
there has been a moth, visiting every day for a week and sometimes staying overnight, very beautiful. I finally identified it, "oak eggar" in a photo on google taken in the Netherlands!
oh I often think moths are more beautiful than butterflies :)
how are you?
for me, the problem with butterflies is that they're always moving and hard to see. But I, too, prefer moths
have you ever seen a hawk moth?
mwah, have been better. But now waiting for meds to kick in; once they do, things should lighten up a bit. And you?
I'm the same, once the morning pain meds kick in, I am OK
oh both beautiful moths!
the hawk moths are so big that both my son and my husband thought they were hummingbirds, not!
I put it up as a theme, rubyfoo, from you :)
<-- loves sprite
I wish you felt better!
I just googled the hawk moth and the very first picture was from a 'hummingbird - hawk moth' :) Looks like more people see the similarity.
lol yeah, so do I. But if wishes were money...
it is very large, diurnal (except for "spot" my eggar, moths are mostly nocturnal), and hovers like a hummingbird BUT it is drably colored and has a long, straw-like thing for sipping nectar
it is funny, I never think them drably colored. They are so beautiful with their subtle brown and grey tints.
that's how I feel (hummingbirds are gaudy, lol), but few people "get" the subtlety of moths
yes I think it is because moths don't 'yell' their beauty to the world, they whisper :)
and they are fuzzy
yes! Almost cuddly. But alas, not to be touched.
I've been carrying "spot" out of the house when it gets too hot in the living room and he seems panicky. But he always comes back
aw that is sweet!
how is husband doing?
I'm very careful but pretty good at handling live things as I used to catch flies, live, to feed to a resident spider
I named her, too, Caliope the Argiope
roflol re-read that last sentence, rubfyoo :D That is priceless!
hehehe good name
a Dutch entomologist identified her for me from a photo as I wanted to be sure she wasn't poisonous before I made friends. Always check out your friends! lol
we used to have a 'house-spider' too, came crawling over the ceiling every night. We called him Karel.
what did he look like? (but pobably a she, as I think the females eat the males)
something like this: http://baalder.julianoverweg.nl/ kruisspin.jpg

hello marigold
hi everyone
hey marigold
hi all
hey carlee :)
hi ya sprite
good morning carlee!
mornging ruby
how are you today, carlee?
ok...aside from schedule being messed up from the day i had fasting
but had fun last night ....
what was the party like?
ah, fun is good! Glad you are okayish again.
oh...hmmm..not really a party
ok..is islamic countries you are invited to friends homes for dinner parties during Ramadan...
but...outside of islamic countries... what happens the msoque serves 2 fold jobs
I understand. But it must be a lovely custom. Do they serve Harira?
is their place of worship..but also a community centre ...so the people from "back home" can gather with like...like the british club in japan....etc
we dont have any morocans in the community here..algerians..but not morrocans
we had a moroccan housekeeper the first few years we were here but I cook couscous Algerian-style from having learned in Paris
anyway...so..during ramadan..here at the m soque in my city... families take over days....as u have to feed the imam that stays to do taraweeh prayer every day...so they just feed everyone...
I think that is one of the things lacking in most of our religious communities here... the sense of community, of actually spending time together, getting to knwo eachother.
last night was a day tht no family "picked up"...as each family only does 1 night ( may be 2 or 3 families )
so was pot luck.... so..i got to bring food...was why i chose to go last night
oh wow, that is nice, carlee. What did you bring?
what did you bring?
snap, sprite
:)
i took my wild rice salad...and of course..everyone kinda looked at it like "what the?????"
lol yes... and how did they like it?
is a dish my family does on high holidays as it looks so festive
those that tried it liked it
hahah, carlee
very good!
I have to go, but will be back after lunch (out, yay!)
enjoy, rubyfoo
( Wild rice = brown, dried cranberries = red, green onion, sweet yellow pepper, sliced raw carrot, slivered almonds ..balsamic vinegar, bit of garlic and olive oil )
enjoy ruby
oh sounds delicious!
that sounds wonderful, carlee!
i had a few want the recipe....kinda cute
the wild rice and the cranberries probably grow in the same marsh!
it is... its really yum....
likely :)
*poof*
that is very good! Because that means it will spread. Another form of getting to know eachother :)
but since is a grass seed and not true rice...they never use...also..is not native to their culture...
yeap.... when we are cooking for our dinners....on the sunday..we usually start at 9 am... and i always bring pulla...( finnish sweet bread)
morning all...
the first time i brought..they looked at it..( I had it all sliced) and had NO idea... just looked like plain bread to them...
no, that is understandable. But I think the best things come from tradition meeting innovation :)
hi garden
or tradition meeting another tradition, of course
they took littlepieces to jsut be polite... the next thing..platter was empty...was so funny
hi FFG
now they ask me...can u bring??????
that is so nice :)
jeezzz I am halfway and it feels like I should be almost done. Is this a tough one or am I thick today?
i always try to take something they are not familiar with... one year i just made a dish that here we call "dump" dish
i found 9 so far..not really trying
( dump dish is anything ....main course....dessert..where u take ready stuffs and mix together...) the one i did was banana split pie....
lol :) And what goes into dump di4?
ah ok, I understand, thanks.
chocolate cookie crust ( oreo crumbs), sliced bananas, then cream cheese and cool whip mixed together with some sugar..... then hot fudge drizzled, hot caramel drizzeled...marachino cherries on top...then chilled
yeah. Now you have done it. Got me drooling again!
( that is one dessert even the most...incapable person in the kitchen can pull off and most will enjoy )
i sometimes sprinkle nuts on top..but with nut allergies
like me!
OOPs..i missed something...
the cream cheese and the cool whip..with sugar... u also take a tin of crushed piineapple squeeze out as much juice as u possibly can and mix that in too
drooooooool
it is yum...there for a while oncei discovered that one... i had to make all time for family..then we got tired of it
and do you melt butter and mix it with the chocolate cookies crumbs for the crust?
ummm..yeap you do ....( see its been 2 or 3 years now since i made it )
( hard to pull all the details from the grey matter at 5 am )
I think it would go without saying for most cooks, but I am always rather insecure. So I thought I'd ask :)
if i go for eid... i will likely make that to take and some other...pretty dish ( have to do 2 of each... b/c one table for men another table for women
( which..although when people hear about... they are shocked and startled...
and sometimes get quite upset...
why is that?
i rather like it ....)
oh, question about the recipe: hot stuff drizzeled? How do I do that?
the whole attitude that islamic women are somehow treated with less respect...
buy the hot fudge sauce in a jar... stick in microwave to warm up..pour in very thin line decoratively ( ie haphazardly ) making sur that if you take a slice of the pie ( i use a lasagna pan ) u will taste teh chocolate
in some places they are, I think, and their holy book, if taken OUT of context, gives them the right to do so. But the same goes for the bible.
so..women must sit on one side of curtain...and men on other
exactly... and MOST mmuslim women are hte strongest..most darn opinionated.. headstrong women i have ever met
i dare any man to take them on... their tongues will rip you to shreads....
( same goes for hot caramel )
I think it is good to have times when the men are among men and the women among women. And other times when the groups can mix.
just ice cream toppings
( ok..anyone readin gback on this..is going to be really confused )
they mix at home...
LOLLLLL yes indeed!
anyway...is a pretty dessert b/c of the sauces and the cherries on top....kinda like a no bake cheesecake ...
My personal opinion is that every tradition and custom has merit and should not be judged without knowing all the ins and outs. But I always feel a bit... worried.... when rules and customs are very rigid. Some flexibilty is needed to balance tradition, that is how I feel.
yes...if am going to eid... will do so...wil lhave to make sure i have lots of ripe bananas on hand
well...again... when we are sat the mosque..the more stringent of the rules is applied to accomdate the most conservative of the community...but in private homes....the men and women gather together at one table...but for the social aspects the men tend to eb in one room..the women in another..but is like that here..the women just naturally gather ot gossip in the kitchen and the men head to the family room to watch golf/football/nascar/ baseball...etc
brb
yes indeed, that is what happens at most parties, lol
so is no different really...
a bit different, I think, when mixing is forbidden there.
and historically..would have been many times...in tents...with just a "curtain/ rug" between the sexes to do so
but I do believe that the power of women is stronger when women get to spend more time among themselves. Probably same goes for the men.
not with the lesser of the conservatives....one of the men there last night ihave known since he was a teenager..now he is married with a child... ( he has been in my home many times visiting with DXH...they worked together )... he andi stood for long time last night talking ( looked really odd )
that makes me smile. That is what I mean... when things aren't so rigid, it is beautiful.
i think it is too... i am the token white chick...but we laugh and carry on... and have al ovely time....alot of my friends here dont "get it"
but hten again alot of peole dont like being a visible minority...
no that is true.
the "friends" in my old neighbourhood ( who now wont speak to me b/c i turfed out the cripple when dxh andi split up )....theya re all "white bread variety"... just never understood WHY i would WANT to go....let alone HOW i could possibly enjoy myself
( and this grid stinks)
that is their loss. I would do the same as you. Clinging to 'your own kind' (whatever they think that is) is sad and insular. I love meeting all kinds of people... and what I love best is seeing time and again they are just like me.
yeah, I am having trouble with this grid too
btw thanks very much for sharing the recipe, I have copied it all and am gonna try to make it myself, together with my daughter.
i have 14 words..am not trying atm....am hoping i can get back to sleep...( i woke up hungry.....my schedule is so messed up... as i have for the last week been following the fast... for the dinners)
I have this theory that women ought to live in co9mmunes and live and work together and support each other - as we do - and just let the odd bloke in from the pub or whereever when we feel the need for one!!
its very simple... use a small lasagna pan...
i have 4 words
:D hi Deeha, that is some theory :)
hi jimnebob, that is a good start.
i know
there is somethng to be said for talking with men..i enjoy it... but i really enjoy my time with women too...
Hi
hi herin
I like meeting people as people, and not in the first place as man or woman. But I also can feel the power of a group of women, and I bet there is something like that for a group of men too.
hiya lady
I do too I have got the a good (old) age where I really enjoy flirting with men - for the first time!
HOwdy
oh wow Deeha! How is that for female power!
OH YEA... all that testosterone....

Hi ruby

fais dodo . . .
taking pups out to pee -- BRB *poof*
I'll never get the double meaning of fais dodo. On the one hand, it's a children's lullabye that means go to sleep. On the other, it's a raucous Cajun dance party.

There are over 40 ships buried underneath the city blocks of the financial district of San Francisco. The abandoned gold rush ships and the wharves were buried when landfill was used to fill in Yerba Buena cove and create more land for the residents of San Francisco.
calamari is in the grid today
had that at dinner last nite.
Me too!
:-)
mmm battered and deep fried calamari rings with a squeeze of lemon and a dash of pepper
Mine also had some shrimp and banana peppers...
a little tomato sauce with mine.
But I like them plain
I'll take 'em any ol' way!
crossy is doing pickerel fillets(walleye) in a lemon butter garlic sauce tonight:)
crossy, did you see my comment about the bacon bouquet I saw on the internet last week?
we don't get pickerel here on the coast
we are trying for 3 dinner meals of fish per week and cut back on the red meat
lol,no i did not champ
I had horse radish on pumpernickel
It was beautiful! It really looked like roses!
lol
ahh yes,i have seen bacon roses before
and i have seen bacon breakfast "ice cream cones" the cone is made from artistically plaited and weaved bacon to form the cone and the ice cream itself is scrambled eggs
cheez
the bacon is formed raw around a steel cone shape, then baked in the oven
that's a long way to go for bacon and eggs
lower right S?
but nice and portable:))
hi Hursh
hi
lol Crossy
That's someone with imagination and a true love of bacon!
i think it is a su7 hego..but be darned if i can find it

here are some very interesting construction picture from the shipyard when they were building the titanic, many i have never seen before.you can get the true scale of the thing by looking at the pic of the workmen standing on the propeller shaft...
www.stumbleupon.com/wsu/8rUHBY/nedhard y.com/2011/07/05/36-pictures-from-the- construction-of-the-titanic/
is the grid any better than it was earlier?
hello. leftovers are heating. tomato sauce from excess of garden tomatoes is simmering. dogs' dinner is cooking and I have a few minutes
((crossy))
((RUBY)))
what are you cooking for doggies dinner?
I will not even come close with this grid -- 104 words so far but no other ones in sight
this one seems to be a toughie, but br says to just find the hard to find words first and the rest is easy
ok...but how do u know which ones the hard ones are when u cant find any ????
I always cook the same thing for pups: 1/2 brown and 1/2 white rice, cauliflower, beef hearts, chicken, bouilllon cubes, then chicken liver and parmesan for garnish
husband gets leftover roast chicken and stuffing and sweet potatoes
my pup hates rice...tried doing that...he picked out the food he liked...and spat out the rice
I think it's good for them and started doing it after reading labels on dog food
"ash" "gluten" (from China)
the food i get for our dog...has no meat by products....
all of it is human grade
I don't trust any prepared food here
they also get purina dog chow
chow chow chow
i trust the guy that owns the place i get my food from... he is a total homeopath and goes CRAZY if he finds out you buy your cat "store brand cat treats"
send him over here!
i can show u his link and u can try and source out his products there ruby
since that horrible thing where dogs in the US died from gluten from China, I've been spooked
http://www.healthypaws.on.ca/
they list ingredients, but don't say where they're from
he was so upset about that... and tha tis why i only trust food from him...
BTW, carlee, our chows come from near to you. They are from the Mi-Pao kennel
i dont know it sorry
it's possible that they've closed by now as they were getting old, the Odenkirchers. And our younger dfog is more than 7
where is the kennel?
hi folks (darn it ... won't take my word. "no, not eleven thirty .. more like no4-ish")
hi and bye welki, off to feed the troups
woof
oh..no wonder...they north of niagara falls in waterdown...i dont think i have even been in waterdown... NF is 3 1/2 huors away from me
I've been looking for the file since you asked. couldn't remember waterdown. TY carlee
http://www.mipao.com/
they had wonderful chows but there selective breeding gave us Cleo (who died at 2 from a heart malformation) and Max (who is autistic). They succeeded in creating (rare) black chows
oooh,i greyed the s
wtg carlee and *poof*
i was bitten by a chow a few years ago...was out walking with my neighbour
and the chow was loose....attacked my girlfriends dog ( needed surgery after the mauling) ..i grabbed the chow by both hands and hauled it off of the dog ( had my nails done day before by salon ....broke 3 nails off with the force i grabbed him with ) and he turned and bit me...i kicked him in the chest with my knee and he scampered off whiming....and we rushed the puppy to the vet..was in surgery for 6 hours repairing a punctured intestine and something else...alot of damage very quickly
any clue for the last sq ?
kinda a swuishy squooshy kinda sounding word ouwa
squishy* even
that dog saw molly who was on her lead.. and the chow came barreling out form the back yard ( the nanny had left the gate open) down the front lawn and lunged at molly...( little american spitz...looks like a mini white eskimo dog )
carleekat...I cant seem to even monkeytype it...HELP!
Good day to all.
two vowels in the middle, Ouwachita
hi there scrabs
ouwa...put 2 of the same vowel u would never think in a million years should be dbled
thanks...that did it....weird word
The thunderstorm has passed and I can safely use my computer now. It was loud, with lightning all around.
that was likely the one that we had last night....i didnt see nor did i hear but apparently loads of lightning...puppy was very happy to see me wheni got home...60 pounds of puupy in your lap and a snout shoved up under ur ear...
And Tucker bunny jumped up in bed with me. 10 lbs of bunny.
we've had a steady rain since 7 last night.. no thunder, but lots and lots of rain. it's a pleasant sound actually
We need rain too, Doren. After a very rainy May we have had a dry summer.
problem with thunderstorms is that they don't always soak deep into the ground where it's needed
Yes. The rain was heavy and intense here but last just a couple of hrs. The water was streaming off the roof.
scrabs, you once recommended a website about kayaks. I'm thinking of getting one for myself these days... need small, lightweight
we have had rain off and on and we are supposed to get storms....
OOOOOOHHH, I am picking up my new 16 lb Hornbeck canoe on Saturday. Really more like a kayak as you sit on the bottom and use a double-ended paddle. 10 ft = $1295. Best deal! In Adirondacks. Peter Hornbeck is originally from Buffalo, went to ADK 30 or so yrs ago and decided to design and build ultralightweight boats.
I did my research--Swift (Canadian company) makes an 18 lb "pack canoe"--copying Hornbeck--but it costs more than Hornbeck boats.
wow. will look into it, that is more $ than I wanted to spend, but sounds interesting.. Can you give me the name of that website again?
hello all. would welcome a clue to the fa6 pls
sounds like fakir and plural
www.hornbeckboats.com The cost is more than outweighed by convenience of the very low wt. Portages, getting on and off car, moving to water---all so much easier.
TY Vanilla
found it and am looking... seems like i need to make a roadtrip to their pond
you may have a clue for do6
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
ty vanilla. sometimes you can't see the forest...
By the way, congratulations to all of the finishers!Hooray
scrabs, love the pic of you and uusue!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there 3 wks ago to try out several boats, settled on the 10 ft Hornbeck over the Blackjack which was what I thought I would buy. I am spending 5 days in the ADK with Leslie 8/20-24 and will get my new boat on 8/20!!
perfect timing scrabbs.. and with the amount of kayaking you do, you certainly deserve it
can't see the trees sry
Yay, Une! It wouldn't upload last night but worked just now. It was very cool to meet a Babbler. It's hard to explain it to non-Babblers. "I drove 30 min south to meet someone that plays an on-line wordgame with me."
sounds like such fun!!! and it's a great pic!!
hi all, whre is the picture, Scrabbs
Doren, you will be more likely to paddle and will do it with greater ease if you have an ultralight boat.
Hello periwinkle! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Hi Min
clue pls someone for do6
On FB--Babble Community. Ellicottville is an adorable village 30 min south of me. She and her son drove 30 min north from I-86, so that we could meet up.
that is true scrab.. one problem i have though is that I might not be able to get dock space at the lake for a while (waiting list) and my car doesn't actually have roof rack. have to look into what i can do about this.
will check it out later, ty
When I tell my mother about meeting Babblers, on-line and in person, she says, "Be careful with those people. You don't know who they REALLY are. Don't trust them and don't give them any information about yourself."
that really is so funny. like babblers could be dangerous? what dangerous person would spend the time we do on nerdy word games?
sorry vanilla don't have it yet
Why do you need dock space, Doren? We drive wherever we want and "drop in."
years ago my daughter and I met up with Dorens and To, so at least SHE understands what it''s all about! LOL
np might have to come back to it
My mother thinks the internet is a dangerous place, full of stalkers and psychos.
:-D
So when my mother called earlier today and asked what I did yesterday (because SHE stalks ME by calling me often all day) I didn't even bother to tell her.
just got it...2 sets of double vowels
LOLOL!!
tx, got it from your clue pcal2!
i live half mile from a lake, and would probably only go there.. (slothful slug that i am) and would do it more often if it were kept there
my kids find it amusing
hang down your head, Tom Do****
yw
i mean babbling and meeting babblers, not the lake
ty pa/une

scrabs...my friends still think it was insane for my entire family and i to drive to asheville to meet scarlet...and to spend christmas together
your friends just don't understand
oohhh, carlee, i thought that was wonderful!!
and we had so much fun....( i think there is a pic of scarlet posted on my fb )

Yes, I talk of my "on-line word game" friends that have names such as Temple Owl, Riverdance, Crosshair,Sprite, etc and who live all over the world.
i did too une. (by the way i also thought our day at the cloisters was wonderful.. wish you'd come back to ny) I'll even get tickets to a great show
Hi All. Loved the picture Scrabs.
my friends find it hilarious when i mention a wine that ruru recommends. ruru?? what a name
good pic scrabs. funny thing is that i have actually met both of you in person. weird, aren't we?
TY, Hego.
I made the sign and wanted UUSue's son to take the pic quickly before someone saw it. How do you explain that?
Yes, Sue said she met up with you.
which is you?
scrabbler is holding her sign
I've met Babblers and taken pics. Not weird.
why explain it scrabs???? loads of people do that sort of thing when travelling
I am on the right.
une. the pic of you and me and owl... that should go on that page.. you have it?
no hego, not really weird at all. just typical of us word nerds
"Babble"--word search + chat. Only Babblers get it. My non-Babble friends look at me funny.
I am finding this grid to be difficult--so many vowels.
Me too!
i started this grid at 3 :30 am scrabs... ( although not being dilligent ) and have found 83 words
OK, I feel better. And with the dark skies + rain I am having trouble being fully conscious today.
same here scrabs. have barely woken up yet
I feel sloth-like and yet a rainy day is exactly what I wait for to do certain projects.
good morning everyone :)
carlee I can't find the pic Scarlet

Hello Nan

I'm beginning to suspect this is one of those grids...
good afternoon all - half way though and this one is a real slog

Hi Glan
peri..you even commented on the album when i first posted..asking if there was a pic of scarlet and there is
Kat--good article. I see far too many adolescents, as well as parents of my patients, in toxic relationships, being stressed, abused, and making no forward progress in life.
its a nice simple test
Hi, Scrabs!
I have a doctor question for you
good article - like the ten rules
I guess that is Scarlet in profile.
Best point in that article: most people, it appears, are not at all attuned to the tone or quality of their inner energy states.
taking a break from this lovely (not) grid, bbs
woo hoo - got all the RAs without referring to help LOL
yes...that is peri:) she hates having her pic taken
clue for the fa6 pls
I finished this grid -- but I do wonder why Dr. God does this to us, like the last SQ and the very last word, us5,18 -- NOT funny...
fa 6 and 7 are referring to a East Indian magician
use high point tile
Hmmmm...
ty Geek

and Scrabbler
Scrabs, what do you know about uveitis?
that was pitifully poor for a first run through -- guess I should hit the list or I'll be here all day!
Yes, it can be done, but it helps to have the Scrabble dictionary nearby...
ta
Not a lot, SG. It can be reveal underlying medical problems. Immune issues. A friend from med school specializes in uveitis.
clue for the qu7,40?
I have it and am veryu concerned
Ihave an appt on Wednesday with a specialist. It just appeared after I had knee surgery last month.
nm, got it
can you clue it glan?
qu7a type of bet, especially on horse races, in which the bettor, in order to win, must select the first- and second-place finishers without specifying their order of finishing.
hmmm..that is an exactor where i am from...
thought it was called an exata
i monkeyed it - all letters are to the left of the Q
actually am wrong..is a place
( its a UK bet... sheesh )
se 6/27 plz
ty all for the clues
se6 - shiny thing on womens clothing
se 6/27 = sparkling things on clothing
and pop star glitzy clothes
ivesy - sparklies
ah ty, always forget the q
ooo good one!
SG, do lots of reading so you know what questions to ask. Be an educated patient that is a self-advocate.
aq 7, please?
need it too nan
watershed nan
well, I will try to do that. I was told that surgery can instigate it.....I don't have anything that I know of in theimmune category that would spark this. I am so scared

Hubby home. bbl

i wont say "dont worry" cus you are going to worry and it seems that is the first 'advise' people give. What i will say is read up on it..from good sources..ask questions..and if it makes you feel better...go out and buy a cute squishy stuffed animal and hug it...or something else that just gives u comfort to ease the fear science
hi all
g'morning folks
do 6?
or di 8?
hi jmc
di8...di + spanish cheer + what a fish swims with
any clues for di8,60
di8- add a Spanish cheer and a piscine part.
good advise there carlee
and molls uses that word every single day!!!
uh oh. what's scary?
well worried nontheless
none
ty -- what a word!
Damn straight I do! : P
geez this grid is clearly full of words i will never get without clues for dummies
do6 - put as many vowels as you can round a consonant in the middle
I hate this grid....and it is too hot here today...hades reprise
SG, research the topic, write down your questions, do not leave without getting your questions answered, get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion.
ty haz
sq6/33. please?
do 6, please? - I am hating this grid too
Well, I have read about it and it appears that the causes are varied and seems it is a bit idiopathic
do6...open ***rs to gain access + Robert E. ***
Do you have eye pain or sensitivity to light?
science... u will be afraid... and it sucks... but once u have ur questions answered u will be fearing a known rather than an unknown..the unknown is almost always worse....at least feels that way
do6 - start with the dr who did very little, finish with Mr Harvey Oswald.
This doctor is a specialist in uveitis. I am going to Houston Eye Associates and they are doing some clinical research on this disorder. SCARED
any clues for sq8,55
sq6 - sq plus first letters of one who shows you the way in a cinema.
clue for the lower lone S please
sq8 one who sounds like a pig
another <group hug> for science
sq8 - one who makes a high pitched sound.
ty molly -- hang down your head, Tom!
the good news about going to a research clinic is that they will be very very interested in you and you will never feel like the 900th patient
sq6,33?
true and maybe they are up on the game
any clues for re8,55 please!
exactly jmc....
sq8 is the dirty rat that told on you
Nan, I thought of that. But I'm never sure who will get what reference I use in a clue. After I got made fun of for a Jurassic Park reference, I tried to go more generic.
re8/45 - add the infamous robotic ending to the preceding re5/10.
sq6 33 is squishy sounding with an unlikely pair of vowels in there
Lone S please
<------ still not halfway
i think obscure clues are all the bomb molly
people can ask for more if they don't get it or haven't seen the movie
186 left :-)
in 6/27, please?
ty carleekat
boy is here today with excuses why he shouldn't be throwing stuff out of my house
su7/32 - Jane Austen attached it to Per
Asking for more is fine. Making dry, snide comments about your clue is another matter.
(su7/32 is lone s)
oh well when people make dry snide remarks to me i just laugh!
looking
i just simply ignore them
dont see it
Eh, I just figured I needed to make clues more generic. I got over people like that a long time ago.
in 6/27, please?
in plus what you pay to travel
dont have nan
SG, it is valid and normal to be scared. Get ready for the appt so that you leave satisfied.
hi naz i didn't see you at first
you can convince someone by using the art of persu***** science
ty haz
Hello, jmc.
Well, I shall. I really just want to know what caused it and I dont want to take oral steroids!
You're welcome, cybernan.
(((Science))) I hope everything works out with your eyes.
still raining in your area haz, or did summer come back?
hello everyone
hi to
It's sunshine at the minute but we've had a lot of rain this summer.
hi Babblers.. popping in to finish up
Hello, TO.
I will let you know what happens. Thanks! Keep me in your prayers, please.

Yay Kat! Hi new entrants--chat log is going too fast for me.
good clue, Molly.. can hear the song now

The white cliffs - they look so much better in sunlight, cybernan.

I liked those better than Dover!
that whole coastline was beautiful
we are having record breakng rains and the festival had to close early because of flooding last night and for the first time in our history all stages will not reopen.huge financial loss.
we need rain badly. Expect higher meat prices!
That must be hugely disappointing, TO.
i wondered about that TO when i heard the Nationals/Phillies game was canceled
with all these strange words, I don't know why leafish isn't accepted ;)
too bad
some trees are more leafish than others?
so I see jmc -- just found it!
http://fest.org/ click on pocture of the flood. i had been helping out at flooded stage prior to that but deiceded to go see another band.
65 left. BBL.
what? i gave an accidental clue? *looking*
bye science and take care
and i was walking along when lightening hit something close by, onbe of the stagehands felt the hair on his arms stand up
you did jmc
*sulks* its no fair that everyone understands my clue and i don't
yikes TO
I don't get it either, jm. I already had le4.
all i can think about is fi4/7
It looks as if somebody has reached down and given the fest a good shake.
no le**s
the weather is closely monitored but lightening had not been forecast. that is the one thinga that will close us immediately, and after seeing today's news i am so thankful
it's more of le**
can't find that le 5 -- should be simple enough!
so was this the festival where the stage roof collasped on the audience?
oh ty shirl
i thought you were clueing it and had it yourself
le5 add extra vowel to a camera le**
le5/10 - an anagram of Frasier Crane's broth, to 'rhyme' with the game played over a net.
FrasierCrane's brother, rather than soup...

I am not making any progress here. Time for a break.

Indiana state fair, yes :-(
haz, it happened in the matter of half an hour of torrential rain. I dorve home, which is south, and dry as a bone
and folkswere co,plaining, dragging their feet to leave
TO, that looks awful!
I suppose they reckoned they'd get their money's worth. No point endangering yourself, is there?
TO, scary stuff. Glad you're okay.
we drove through there yesterday early afternoon (I-80 to I-380 north), it was still nice then
re7,40?
worse were the vendors who would have kept selling until the aters swept them away. they were oer the bridge from the affected area. but there were concerns about moving folks out and across creeks
re7/40 - looks like a Frenchified version of something historical, something that might be displayed in a museum.
i am off today and not going to visit friends, more rain is scheduled and i do not ant to chance it
no 6, please?
good thinking, TO!!
ty molly and sorry all *zips it*
no6/21 - something that's not put into operation?

What a lovely wedding that was, Haz! Felicitations!
Hello, peri.
any clues for re7,40 please
hello
Thank you, stid, we all really enjoyed it.
need that one too, aaron -- have the 7/44
may i share one of the more unusual and fun acts i saw this week? March Fourth! Part marching band,
part circus, all infectious dance rhythms http://tinyurl.com/3sxyuey
I love it, TO! Gonna have to get my boys to listen to this.
they are amazing, TO!
aaron unfortunately i dont know
they are from portland, stid
re7/40 - ends in the Spanish word for 'what'
oregon, I hope? LOL
is that anything like french what?
Ptlnd Maine is a bit far...
well that is their home, they play all over
And it looks like a Frenchified version of an English word that means something that's old, in a museum.
oh -- have that one -- looking for the re 6/27!
and that is oregon i beleive
ah, thanks for the RE 7/8!
re6/27 - re plus one of five children born together
Same structure as the spangly se6/27
ty haz -- another strange one
You're welcome.
this grid is awful
wow, it's haz!! Howdy! Good to see you :-)

aaron i couldnt figure it out either
sh 6 please? - don't have either
use the high tile for the re7
re7/40 - If you have the re6/21 - you eat with re6/21 is you enjoy something - use the first four letters and then the first letters of asking a ***stion.
found the sh 6/30
sh6/30 - delicious Omar
to be dependable ****able + ask a ***stion
sh6/21 - s plus what grows on your head, finish with a consonant.
ty haz

tx for the su7!
qu 7/40 please? -- can't get past trying a charged particle ending
You're welcome, Une.
plural of qu6, nan
qu7/40 - first four letters as with the five babies, mix up the Star Wars princess for the last three.
oh, then there must be two, haz
Or one of five babies, British beer backwards.
ty haz -- tried that with a different vowel and missed that one!
There's an earlier qu7/40 - a plural for qu6/27 - qu and as many vowels as you can throw at the word.
:-D
af 6, please?
nm -- got it
*!* ta da *!* - whew! - thanks for all the help :)

Re5,10 sounds like a current with the first two vowels changed into one different vowel

and re6,21 is a type of sauce
sorry, that's io6 not io5
last sq6?
still cannot figure the re 5/10
sq + double vowel + a fi** swims in the water
sq6 uses double vowel
The re5/10 you put on a hot dog?
re5/10 - screw up again? (or something put on a bow to make it easier to play)
woah, didn't know you could use two vowels like that, thx for the sq6
Or the re 5/10 that is tree sap? re + a *** is an offense against God
molly - count, that is 6
yw -- bizarre, eh? LOL
*Puts on dunce cap*
the first re 5/10 which is in between the re 6/21 and the re 6/27
I think i have tried every combinatin ofr vowels for that sq word *band head on table*
the re 5/10 is after the sauce
there is an re6 sauce besides the re 6 condiment?
two of the last vowel TO
Sammy...pay your ***t on time to your landlord + not out (Counted)

Thank you all.I drove to Vermont yesterday to celebrate her birthday today and she died yesterday. She was 93.
sorry Min, did you see her at all yesterday?
The good thing is that her mind was still 100 percent so she died in good spirits and her spirit will be w/us forever. Was good thing her grandchildren happened to be here to celebrate her b-day. Good for my Mom too. We will have a service for her next month when my Aunt(Mom's sister) from Colorado can fly out for it
ah, poor old dear
Went to hospital after she passed to say goodbye to her.
but how fortunate for her, and for everyone around her, that her mind and spirits were good
She had a very mild heart attack last Wednesday. She was supposed to go back home this week, but did not make it.She lived a very nice long healthy life though.

hi red
hello again crossy
this grid took me 18 hours on and off LOl
oh my. I dont have that patience, I still have 108 left.
Yay Glantarell. Hello Crossy & Red.
howdy scwabby
i suppose i should go to bed - i have worktomorrow for the first itme in 2 weeks
stikll feeliong somewhat disconnected form the world
best to get rest. I have to work tomorrow as well, but only a 10 hr shift. so its like a small holiday...
I am lucky in that I pretty much set my own hours - as long as it's about 160 hours a month
i used to do ten-15 hour shifts once upon a time, but i found work like that highly overrated
i balance ny 10-12 hour days with 5 hour days ;-)
tomorrow will be a 5 hour day
Well said, Crossy. Haha.
ease myself back in gently
i scaled back, got rid of the beemer, the 401k and the heart attack by 40.we live smaller,go on adventures and laugh more and i now drive a econobox toyota
though crossy does miss the heated leaTHER SEATS.. LOL
Crossy, most people never figure it out at all, or they do when their is a medical crisis for themselves or loved one.
there is an old saying - metal loses money, bricks gain money - expensive cars are just a drain of money and planetary resources
even if they are comfortable LOL
guess i had a wake up call lol
I love my toyota.
what do you/did you do for a living crossy?
my echo is bullet proff..love the thing myself
Well, My shifts arer just what they are. but I dont think I am living large.
i am partners with a friend and we operate a service station together
oh i think i knew that bt i had forgotten
what do you do red?
I am a nurse.
and i am working on getting a book shoppe going on the side, with art supplies and consignment art work by our local artists
I only work 3 days a week. so I guess i have more time fof than most.
oh, that is something i would love to do crossy
god bless the nurses
hospital or doctors red?
I have worked part-time for 20 yrs after experiencing burn-out a few years after residency ended.
has nursing become a degree profession in the US/Canada?
Hospital, in the US, I dont think there is a doctor who employs an actual Registered nurse anymore.
I do have a Bachelors Degree.
we have nurse/practitioners here that are highly skilled
Most doctors surgeries here have nurses - they do blood tests, cervical smears, asthma monitoring etc
this grid, is not easy though. my goodness.
this grid sucks
Here in the states all that would be done by a Medical Assistant...
ah, we don;t have mnedical assistants! we have nurses (or sisters)
wonders what the male equivalent of 'sister' (nurse) is?
They are not well trained (sorry to any MA's out there), and can only do certiant hings.
I guess it isnt a brother. I have wondered that myself Glantrell!
An MAs education + training is quite limited. They are all-purpose office workers often.
we used to have Matrons but now we have 'ward sisters' and infection rates are much higher than thye were when we had matrons
I'm not really a fan, mostly because the ones I meet at my physicians office, don't speak very well with me, which makes me think they may not be too intelligent.
but I am sure there are some very smart ones out there that really run some offices.
the difference being that a matron looked after the wholenward - nursing and hygiene - whereas the nursing sister just looks after the nursing
i think i am glad we don't have medical assistants
We have charge nurses, who are in charge of all that. and they are pushing for all nurses to have Bachelors rather than Associates Degrees, not sure that helps or not...
but i am suire they will come
I think they just lack a lot of training to recognize things that Registry Nurses have, but....RN's are expensive...
Even LPN (licensed practical nurses) have limited education + training. In our office the LPNs give vaccines, measure kids, check urine samples etc.
ah, we have charge nurses - suspect that is the male veriosn of 'sister'. All our nurses now have to hve bachelors degrees - but that is a shame as some very good nurses came inot the profession because thye CARE and are good at looking after poeple but aren't necessarily academic
all our nurses are RN or above
We have RNs doing phone triage--an LPN cannot do that as only an RN can "create a care plan" as per state requirements
We have LPN's, and actually they can pretty much do everything except push IV Meds or transfuse blood and do a primary assessment of a patient, but we use them as technicians mostly....
I wish they would get rid of the LPN program, it is so limiting for the students.
as i said, all our nursed are RNs, I suspect that is a good thing
Well, the LPN program was excellent when LPNs were employed in clinics and stuff, bt now the only real employment for them is in Nursing homes...
well, off to bed ow - happy babbling - see you tomorrow - poof
Sleep well, Glant.
A BSN is the best of all.
I have to say in truth some of the best nurses I worked with were grads from Watts, which is one of the few remaining diploma programs, they dont teach the students french or history.
Where is that school?
in North Carolina. It's shocking that it still exists!
There are no programs like that here in Buffalo. LPN or BSN programs. I have known many LPNs that have struggled through the BSN program.
THere are only a few left. But Watts also has a crzy high pass rate for boards like 98%, so it is not easy, it just does not require things like art history, and of course the grads are limited...they cant go to grad school...
The last RN program here shut down maybe 10 yrs ago.
the times are changing, indeed.
I just found si5. <----hole in head
I just hit half way. I should go to the list. but I am too lazy to pull it up!
I am struggling to get to halfway. 89/113 now.
it is an odd odd one for having 202 words....they are well disguised.
Vowel overdose
indeed
just talked with my daughter -- BIG NEWS: UMich is sending her in October to Frankfurt to the International Book Fair, then to Paris to meet with 2 French distributors of books they might like to add to the library collection -- her French intern from last year is going to be her guide in Paris!!
so excited for her! :-)
Yippee!
just zipping by to share my proud moment! LOL *poof*
Bye! Go celebrate!
*GASP* Finally past halfway and I am done. 102/100. Not a merciful grid.

Don your suit of armor and do battle with the Enable Beast. But take care, that thing is big and ugly.
see you tomorrow, happy babbling
Not the Enable Beast. It has such nasty things to throw at you.
I have seen them in the grid these last days. They are most foul.
And it speaks in tongues.
any Les Paul fans out there in babble land?

45 Impossible words remain
most of them seem impossible
dreading tomorrow...school starts again
Wow! It starts early for you sciencegeek. Must end early.
oh I am sorry you feel that way science
The South starts early and ends early. A throwback from farming days.
Ends first week in june. Just tired of the bs
Too much bs with the administration and some teachers. Kids are fine
ah i remember how mother felt about that--but when she got senior she had to put up with less
Its a mess due to budget problems and personalities....too much drama. The adults are worse than the students
Fair Milby, Fair Milby, Your sun shall ever rise In glory and beauty Throughout our Texas Skies. Together we’ll honor And praise your noble name, And fight for those golden buffaloes Thundering o’er the plain.
Lol. Milby is in the hood now
Milby was in the hood then too
You know, there have been several teachers on here recently expressing similar sentiments. I think it's a damn shame what teachers have to put up with these days.
but we still had amazing teachers
In the day yes
honestly it sounds the same as what my mother had to put up with with less help from electronics
I had fab teachers at hspva
teachers have always gotten the short end of the stick
*Wanders back in time to memories of the mimeo machine*
13 years and I am tired
ugh mother had one in our living room and i had to hand crank it for her -- she hated waiting for the secretaries at the school
ok I cannot finish this grid. I need chai ice cream and the end of sherlock holmes
ah, the mimeo machine . . .
Lol Je
Purple stuff everywhere.
Smelled good
my aunt taught 53 years and mother was a piker at 35 years
Wow
my aunt taught her first class right out of hs because it was wwi and the men were all at war
in the summers she would go to class at texas state university
I've always expressed appreciation to my kids teachers. I truly valued what they did for them. When my youngest graduated high school, we emailed a picture to some of his early year teachers. They loved it.
Night all
bye science thank you for being a teacher
nite, science
i would always buy the teachers gift certificates instead of cups
my students gave me a Michael jackson LP (1971 LOL)
cool!
My sister taught for a while and she suggested book store gift certificates for teacher gifts.
Bye science
Hi, Une
yeah these days they all get cups
great idea, molly
hey, jellen :-)
when my mother taught they all got broaches--my aunt must have had a million broaches
he jell
*hey
stats for the top row e please
*Wonders if anyone wears broaches anymore*
el 5/10
i do occasionally molly
I do!
I have this odd aversion to things that pin on.
I collect vintage costume jewelry...
Ooo Jellen, I bet you have some nice pieces.
i wore a black christmas tree during christmas all during the vietnam war
I have stumble upon a few nice ones...
i was sad when i had it to wear again later
stumbled, even
I have a bag full of my Mother's costume jewelry that I am going to make into a treasure box for my grandkids. If I ever get any. : (
early days molls
one of my mom's caregivers made a Xmas tree for my daughter out of her clipon earrings :-)
is it raining there molly
My son and his wife have been married for over four years. It's time. Although I keep my mouth shut about that.
Not yet JMC, but it's been looking like rain all day.
my sister was married 10 years before my niece was born
Um, I was married 19 years and never produced a grandchild for my MIL...
i got caught in a huge downpour driving to baltimore and back and then it poured here too
Oh, right on cue, there's the thunder.
would KILL for a downpour . . .
it is raining again
sorry une we needed here too
happy for you . . .
my garden is a failure for lack of ra**
*puts up umbrella in PB*
off to move a sprinkler in the dark *poof*
Mine too JMC and I watered and watered.
i wish this silly kenyan would get back--i need to take him to the cvs to get $ from the moneygram thing
I hateses the moneygram thing. Whenever I go to customer service at the grocery store, the person in front of me is doing one and it takes forever.
i found it pretty useful a time or too when i had a ward who got stranded somewhere
money gram????
Western Union? I know that have THAT in Canada.
it is like sending money through western union carlee
oh..ok...we dont have here..we do have western union...
clearly random typing is the way to finish this grid
Ding! Ding! JMC is correct.
*curtsies*
i am never getting through all the A words :-(
Too many darn vowels in this one.
too many stupids words in this one.
Summer goes by WAY too fast. It seems like a few weeks ago I heard the peep frogs announcing Spring and BANG, the crickets are back, announcing Fall.
yeah it goes faster and faster until it grinds down and all you have is time on your hands
Funny, I never complain about Winter going by too fast. Snap, crackle, pop in the sky here JMC.
on that cheerful thought: clue for the second eq
Ends like inky sea creature.
ty
: )
the radar shows that we are in for it for the night
*Plugs in all things charge-able*
good plan molly
100 left i think i am taking a break bbl
We had a wild thunderstorm around dinner time here - lots of lightning and a heavy downpour - maybe that's what heading your way
Oh it's here. Full on show. The rain smells good.
Teach, I like your icon. Norman Rockwell is a favorite of mine.
i always liked his paintings- had a 5th grade teacher who collected the magazine covers and then had us write stories about them., Grew to like his paintings from that experience. Old icon, don't ever get time to change it
What a great writing exercise.
io6,21 and sq6,33 help please
io 6/21...io + Eden was the garden of para****
sq 6/33...sq + double vowel + sound that means be quiet
thank you
: )
Hi again...Could someone help me with stats for the last column, fourth row I, please?
Oops! Got it!
How about stats for the bottom right S?
Hi all -- just finishing up with the help (previously) of cluers like Haz and now Morewords
Hi, jilli!
su 7/32
Hi Jilli
Thanks Molly *peers at grid*
Nobody asked me, but the sh6/30 is Omar the bridge player and in Arabic, it means, appropriately, "exalted".
I just put it in as a joke and it worked!
thanks jilli - he was hot in his time
There is a lot of that "put it in and it works" in this grid.
Hi River
Hi River
I remember his smoking eyes in Lawrence of Arabia, drool.
hello everyone....just came on... tough grid for a biggie
Oops -- oven timer beeping...brb
that was an awesome move
hope I am still drooling at 84....lol
Thanks to Molly, I have NBT!
I am no where near close to NBT
Hi
drooling is acceptable at 84, lol!

Hi herin

It's winter in NZ
In New Zealand, it's Winter there.

Yep it is not really snowing hard though
pardon me...NZ
All together now!
yikes...didnt realize they had snow there....I have always seen there lush countryside in my TV exploring
We have cold though
Carlee, I swear, you are like the international news guru. : )
is it snowing your way herin?
Which is why I'm contemplating a visit to Aus in Jan or Feb, witha bathing suit.
so Aus is the opposite of us...makes sense
No. Doesn't get cold enough to snow
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?se t=a.10150270802038462.338862.273172638 461&type=1
Herin, your cold is nothing like our cold
Jill Feb is a better time mainly because it is hot hot hot
It is cold enough for me. I hate loath and detest cold. THe heater has been inched up to 22 C over the last couple of days
And so will Jilli be in her bathing suit. : )
( carlee has a good set of news sites that she follows in twitter...twitter is way faster than any other news agency anywhere)
thanks, herin -- and I may go to Melbourne if my cousins are still there.
<--- Not a Twitter person. : D
love the pix carlee
Molly, my hot days are over over over!
I dont "tweat" i just follow
I know the feeling Jilli. : )
I'm just putting a toe into twitter...
What is on twitter?
<----never been on twitter
River, you aren't missing much.
apparently, everything is on twitter, but I have yet to find out.
Herin, it's like blogs, only shorter. Little blurbs of stuff.
140 words per tweet.
if you go jilli - you need to spend at least 2 weeks...the flight alone will knock you out...Good friend of mine went 2 years ago and went for 3 weeks...said that was the best time she had
Oops, timer going again.
And people posting endless minute details of their lives.
I dont care about that stuff
Firewords, btw -- alst ridiculous word had no def but google said "The sh5/12 are fictitious creatures in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting ..."
i follow reporters from various news agencies...
yay for jilli
hi again
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~* for jilli

Jesy I showed friends Dain and they can't believe how big he is
I know what twitter is but what I meant is what is happening there anything interesting?
River, I'm also contemplating doing it by cruise, with a stop in Fiji and maybe NZ. My dream is that my son will accompany me and help blow his inheritance, lol!

Jes we wish our cat had not been desexed so soon as he would actually be in his feet and head.
Silly bank accounts.
