Yep, probably.
How are you the daughter of a knight?
back to 1106 AD. Amazing records kept by the europeans
my father is Knighted
well, half that pure-bred stuff went to Australia
Oh really? What for?
Wow, mrp!

he is a war hero, and knighted for that.
Wow.

where did you hike seain?
the clue was incidental, really wanted to share that, but realized after typing the word, so caught it.

the 10-mile part of the Potomac Heritage Trail from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to Roosevelt Island, west.
morning, arb
shalom everyone
I remember that bridge..is the new one up yet?
peace ARB!
hello arb
Hello arb
oh, i sa Woodrow Wilson -- yes it is -- i meant American Legion Bridge

from the Legion to the Island is a difficult hike.
ty for the re dee
I am not good hiker I tend to get lost
yw
sh 5, 6, 7, 6
ya know, all the Yiddish and Hebrew, and it doesn't take rosh. the trail was mostly reasonably, if not ideally, marked. We only lost it slightly twice, and not in any of the dangerous parts, which were all well-marked.
I'm having difficulty finding the O in the third column, third row...stats and maybe a clue?
or5/12 Jellen
or 5 and or 6 an abalone...
ty flosey
abalone is to die for

Actually I have Babbled and played Lexulous Scrabble in my sleep. Scary.

You all dream that you're doing this grid too?
Well not this particular one... just the Babble grid.
I do that, neil
Oh my, I'm feeling dense...

we're a bunch aren't we?
Icon clue posted -- please refresh or something
thanks jilli

nice symmetry in that pair of wa4.12s
Why don't you have your Flickr photos in your profile, jilli?
Thanks, west!

Now the bottom row E stats, please?

good one dc
oh! I had it anyway, jellen, but thanks!
Oh I know how to get them back, jilli. I'll have to look to see what your Flickr name is.
much like the trail was on Saturday. UUUP and DOOOWN
thank goodness you weren't hiking during the quake
indeed, much danger of rock slides!
its the same as here with 2003 added, neil
Yes, ok. Right click the My Account link and open in a new window. Where it asks for your Flickr username, paste in this: jillibus2003. Then click that Update Profile button. That should work... if not, your page might be malfunctioning.
I just noticed I have nbt and nbs
But give that a try?

Oh, dc...I talked to my 15-year-old nephew about the iPad2...He said it was cool...That just about seals the deal for me!
LOL Jellen :) I think you'll find it useful.
my son's wife just got him one for his 40th b'day
neil, I did all that, a couple of times, but still nanda. jillibus 2003 has been there all along anyway.
*nada
Wow, jilli. In your account settings on Flickr, is everything set public?
I'm guessing yes, it would have to be. Because I was able to see it all before we connected.
stuff used to be there in her profile, then it just disappeared one day.
Weird!
Yes. I checked that yesterday. It was working fine but as dc said, suddenly vanished. I didn't change anything.
That's really weird. Have you asked Dr. God about it?
No -- I'll try that. It happened once before, but then I found that the jillibus 2003 had vanished (no idea why) and when I put it back, all was well. Until now.
Sometimes I've noticed my account settings get changed on me in Flickr, from how I set them.
Oh, you entered "jillibus2003" with no spaces, right?
Because when you typed it out just how there's a space and there shouldn't be.
There was no space, neil.
Oh, ok.
I just emailed DrG but I think it's too late for him tonight.
think i'll try and sleep some.
happy babbling, yall! {poof}
He'll probably respond soon. Some time tomorrow.
Bye, dc...

ty wtg neil
And westford!
Neil is that your name or nick name ?
I have 118 left -- too fuzzy-headed tonight.
gosh westie.. I can't see much other than what I've found
Is which, westford?
Neil is my name, yes.
'negativeneil' is an online monikker I've used for a few years now.
I knew a Neil but he was Cornelius
his brother is positive pete
There are tons of Neils, westford.
ruru it helps to pick up the grid and shake it
Very common/popular name for some reason.
tried that already west ...lol
No, ruru... Postive Pete is my antithesis.
Actually you coudl be right. My brother is a very sunny, positive person and I'm always saying I'm his antithesis, because we're total opposites in so many ways. I tell him I naturally oppose him.
His name isn't Pete, though.
I am the polar opposite of my brother
Ummm, "could". Typing is suffering.
you have such a warm pleasing personality in here Neil
Yes, I would say I am too.
Why thank you, westford. I won't show you the video I shot of myself freaking out in a Singapore hotel room last year then... because there was a car race going on right around the hotel and I couldn't sleep because of it!
lol that's a good reason to flip out
don't stay in NYC and expect any sleep either neil
Gotta go back to the kitchen and do the dishes...
I don't think I seem too warm and pleasing in that. You'd have to plug your ears at the end of it too, becauase of my language.
I thought everyone behaved in Singapore
Oh I have stayed and slept there, ruru. Much better than in that Singapore hotel room, lemme tell ya!
or else ....
come down and help with our dishes jilli.
Those Formula 1 race cars are LOUD.
I want to live in NYC
Aw, ruru, it's just sticking them into the machine adding soap and pushing a button.
where everything stays open
I do dishes, see? http://tinyurl.com/NL-SC-Dishes
Wait, why did you video yourself freaking out? Just to prove you could? Is it entertaining or something?
I love NYC.. but they jackhammer at night for christ's sake
I heart NY
Haha! A few years ago in the apartment I still live in.
we live catty corner from 6 year old twin boys..you talk about loud lol
No, SamathaJoy. I videotaped myself so I could post the clip on my Youtube page for my famliy and friends to see... and so they could hear and see what was going on. I wasn't sure they'd believe it otherwise... what hotel has a race track going right around it with a car race going on ALL NIGHT?
Oh, nice picture -- I like your longer hair
Well not taped... you know. With a digital video recorder.
One in the Land of No Zoning Restrictions, apparently
Ugh, Jilli? My hair is an unruly mess if I let it grow in!
I guess so, Samantha.
well, I like it unruly, heh heh.
I wish we had known about that BEFORE we booked ourselves into that hotel. Geez!
you need a dish pan neil
I hope you posted the name of the hotel
just a little something they forgot to mention
...not liking this grid....
same here ruru
Yes, westford. I have since acquired one.
So now I can get dishpan hands.
I noticed the water running
they have collapsable ones now
they did though west.. they said oh you like a lace cars?
but good for you for doing the dishes
get one of those things where you put soap in the handle
I have one jilli it's a godsend
I love mine
bacteria collecters
collectors
warning -- the nightly hiccup is about to occur
but they have soap in them to kill the germs
*uh right*
or so I'd like to believe
Of course I do my dishes, ruru. Think I want my sink and counter full of mess? Uhhh, no.
that was me neil
I like dishwashers personally.. no muss no fuss
me too
me three
Oh it was westford that said that, sorry.
Haha, I'm too tired.
I'd prefer a personal assistant and a dishwasher however
If I had room for one I'd have one, ruru.
But you see my little galley kitchen?
hmmm
could you have one built in?
no.. I didn't.. but I had a tiny kitchen when I lived in Palo Alto
no.. I didn't.. but I had a tiny kitchen when I lived in Palo Alto
You're still in the same place, neil? But on the road a lot too, right?
I'm only one person, don't have that many dishes to wash.
Meaning I still live in that same apartment, yes. But I'm not there now, however... I'm not in Dallas, TX.
Flew here this morning... or yesterday morning I guess I mean now. From Charlotte, NC.
No I couldn't have one built in, westford. I don't really have enough kitchen cupboard/storage space as it is, withoug doing that.
Without even. Geez. I can type better than this!
neil -- what's that funny white plastic thing to the left of the sink?
It's a coffee pot, Jilli.
A glass one with a white handle and lid attached.
The lid is up.
Oh, I see now, lol! Hadn't seen the glass part.
Oh, ok.
oh.. I just looked at your photos neil.. your brother is a very, very talented person..
Yes, he can certainly sing. If I sing, I can clear a room.
me too
Haha!
There could be money in that, couldn't there?
he and Jennifer Hudson are the greatest talents that show has ever discovered
Just think. Maybe we could get hired at closing time in some bar to sing.
yeah.. that would be good pay..
At least in my case, that would make the patrons leave. In a big hurry.
They would run out the door screaming.
over halfway at last.
i haven't found much now..
Clues wanted? I have one eye shut and the other is about half closed now.
I'm going to take some medicine and head to bed. I didn't sleep much last night
Still too many missing, thanks, neil.
ruru, what are you going to do about that knee?
Did you see me as a little toddler, ruru? I was cute... once.
I'm back and had to scroll who is your brother Neil?
no I missed that .. but the elephant shot is a trip
I always check mail at the 'burp'
ruru are you ill?
I destroyed my left knee west.. it's a mess
yeah I was a cute kid too.. but with big ears
so what are you going to do about it, ruru?
oh I'm so sorry what are you going to do?
snap jilli
A doctor friend of mine is helping me get an appointment with a specialist in SF
oh good, ruru
you'll get a replacement and be good as new
I am doing an MRI to see how bad it is and go from there
Here we are... or were: http://tinyurl.com/NL-AL-Kids
yes, snap, west, but I had asked him before too
I'm the little tree-hugger in red.
Awww...so cute!
so cute, neil -- and no curls!
that didn't work for me neil
Oh man. Hope they can do something for you, ruru.
Didn't work? It worked for you, jilli?
Of course I had curls!
My hair was just tamed there.
got it.. you were a cute kid
so cute and you look the same
except for the tattoo
neil did you see my question about your brother?
what's that west?
I just made it to 100 and the wi derelict was my last word
his brother is Adam lambert from American Idol.. the guy who should have easily won.. that show is fixed
ruru, I really would have rather you did not mention that in here. Geez.
Interesting tattoo...
he's about 100 times more talented than the guy they gave the title too
oh sorry neil
i'll shut up now
I know him..you should be proud neil
It isn't fixed, ruru. It was people in Arkansas voting. Getting tons of people to vote.
westford, I'd rather keep that out of here thanks.
okay
Aww sorry ruru.
Neil, I think it's great that you want that.
let's talk about arkansas
Must we?
I was about to tell west that I didn't think you wanted it known.
remember our niece and her husband ruru? the one that left and took the toilet with him?
If you get a divorce in Arkansas.. can you still call yourself brother and sister?
Is the pain in your knee easing at all, ruru?
No kidding;. not broadcast in here anyway.
no haz not easing.. seems to be about the same.. I am in pain all day
Just fine, neil.
Painkillers aren't going to be the answer, are they?
Poor ruru -- hope you can get help very soon.
no.. and they aren't really working anyway.. Mrs Ru knocked me over by accident and I just about passed out from the pain
Then please, for your own sake, don't put up any excuses for not having surgery sooner rather than later.
I guess you can't work, ruru?
no..I'm working.. just moving a lot slower than normal
is the specialist you are seeing a surgeon?
I don't like wo6/30, grump.
we discussed surgery tonight and I am caving in .. the pain is too great
yes she is a sports orthopedic surgeon.. she does professional players and a ton of USTA players
sometimes pain can be your friend
Oh good, ruru.
makes you do the right thing
so she knows what's best then
I was thinking a face lift and a tummy tuck at the same time.. what do you guys think
I'm glad you've seen sense. I put off gall bladder surgery for years (no comparison with the pain you're suffering) and it was such a doddle I wondered why I'd put up with the thing for so long.
I'm ashamed of myself. I just assumed the doctor was a man.
I've never had surgery Haz.. it's kind of intimidating to me
tsk tsk west
I tried asking for liposuction at the same time but they wouldn't contemplate it. The anaesthetist confirmed that liposuction wasn't subtle. Now there's a man who knows how to understate.
I have to get out of the 19th century
Yes, but ruru, don't forget that those who are doing the surgery ARE used to it. They have training, they know what they're doing.
you are so tiny haz.. liposuction you gotta be kidding us
ruru, I've had lots of surgery and you just sleep through it, lol.
OKay, I admit it was a joke as they were about to put me under.
lol thought so
Speaking of sleep...goodnight all...*poof
It's not bad ruru. You don't know anything about it until it's all over. You get put under and it seems like you're coming to again right away. No sense of time passing.
Goodnight, jillibus.
Night Jilli. I'm crashing too.
G'night, jilli
good night jilli
good night jilli and good night all too
G'night Neil
good night neil.. sorry about my slip.. I'll not mention it again
Before I literally do... a face plant into the keyboard.
G'night, west
Night Jellen and westford... and ruru.
And the anaesthetics they use these days are so much better than years ago, plus pain management has improved.
and goodnight John-boy...
this is all helping.. Thanks haz
ruru will be like Basil Fawlty, not mentioning the war.
I'll tell them where the treasure is..lol
I just want you to be free of pain.
Did you not get a procedure done on your wrist recently?
I am pretty pain tolerant.. I usually don't complain .. I handle pain pretty well.. this is way beyond my limits
no.. I didn't have to.. I just needed to not do tennis for 3 months. and the tendon healed itself
Yes, but have you not noticed that there's no nightly medal ceremony handing you a gong for tolerating pain well?
I got 8 weeks of physical therapy and was as good as new
damn... I've been waiting for that ceremony.. now I know it's not coming..rats
Physiotherapy can be great - painful but it works.
Sorry to disappoint, ruru. It's like me waiting for the Christmas inspector every year, coming round to make sure I've done everything perfectly. He/she never comes.
So I never get the 'Perfect Christmas Hostess' badge.
we'll have to cough one up here for you this holiday season
It's actually quite liberating once you realise nobody is going to inspect your house or question your guests about the quality of the food etc. You can just relax.
I bet you are a really great cook
Of course, maybe the Christmas Inspector is lulling me into a false sense of security and they'll turn up the year I serve baked beans on toast.
LOL
Talk about egg on your face.
Anyway, in all seriousness, don't put up with pain out of fear.
I haven't found one word in ten minutes.. ugh
It's the pain, ruru, it's taking away your word-finding ability. I tell you, once you've had your surgery even gremlinn won't be able to keep up.
oh sure..I just poke along.. but I do get them done
hullo, haz, ruru & everyone. sorry about the pain you're currently in, ruru, and glad you're on the path to getting rid of it.
No medals for speed at this thing. There's a desperate shortage of medals for all kinds of things.
Hello city.
thanks city.. I hope this other doctor will have other ideas
lol, Haz...
could someone please hit me with the cluebat until I fall over or find an ho word after the brick carriers and before the shout of acclaim?
I haven't listed yet, City, but I'll look.
I think we should rustle up a medal for 'talking good sense' and give it to Haz (as long as she doesn't mind it doubling as something else)
haz does have the "Cluer Emeritus" badge already
(my 'looking really hard and not finding anything' medal, which I have EARNED DAMMIT)
I've earned the 'Mother is always right' badge as well.
I'm beginning to understand the reason for the general medal shortage around here...
<----Displays his Puns them to Death badge ....
City....Actress Ho*** Blackman - spelled in the American fashion
City, there are a whole series of words beginning with ho5/12 - American spelling of courage/uprightness.
Evening all
lynxxx - good evening!
thank you Haz, those were the sneaky so & sos *bimbles off to collect them*
Hello...just when Stew starts bouncing...BBS
Hi, lynxxx....oh, later...
Those American spellings are downright sneaky sometimes.
See you shortly, lynxxx.
h tile blanked, thanks Haz
Thank you for asking!
bye for me too.. off to ice my knee.. have a nice night everyone
Sleep well, ruru.
g'night ruru, hang in there.
G'night ruru
yeah.. we drop the U a lot..lol
*poof*
I'm really glad City asked because it yielded a whole crop of words.
Isn't it just as well we didn't start talking about ruru?
Yup, that was a little goldmine, Haz.
And now I have found my last 8 (the re8) and will go and have a celebratory breakfast of ... toast. And tea.
I think you should get 'Most significant clue query of the day' medal.
Enjoy breakfast!
Okay, but if it's real gold, I'm not giving it back tomorrow.
thank you - have a nice morning/night everyone.
It's made out of some material that self-destructs after 24 hours.
Bye, city.
the same stuff the grid is made of out? Bye :)
Bye!
Back - took the opportunity to try my first batch of almond bread. Friday arvo's have become my cooking afternoon.
ooh, almond bread sounds nice...in a bread maker or how?
hi Diz - just trying the very thinly sliced biscuityvariety - so just baked in a shallow loaf tin. You bake it again after a few days and after you slice it up
That presupposes that someone doesn't eat it before it gets baked again?
Missed your return, lynxx and hello, dizgrannie.
I made lemon slices as well which will be more attractive to that 'someone'
Lemon slices sound good as well. I remember years ago that Friday was my mother's baking day. We hardly knew what a shop bought biscuit was.
She'd start in the morning with all the different breads and then move on to cakes, apple tarts, biscuits and buns. I moved in for the kill when bowls needed to be scraped clean.
The lemon slices are delish - very tart.........http://www.taste.com.au/r ecipes/17268/lemon+slice
And I used to love getting little bun cases full of sultanas.
mmmmm - never made buns - nor bread if it comes to that. Think I am worried about yeast
I've just looked up the lemon slices - we make the same one here, except the biscuits of choice are called Marie biscuits. The icing is lovely and tart.
The breads she made didn't have yeast - potato bread (flat things done on the griddle) plus soda bread, wheaten bread etc. Typically Irish stuff made with buttermilk.
Yes, we have Marie biscuits too. The Granita ones are v. similar except a bit thicker and probably have oatmeal in them
The oatmeal would give a nice texture.
I take bursts of baking but have never had an established day every week.
Anyway, that almond bread, why does it have to be baked twice?
After the inital bake, you wrap it in foil and store away for a couple of days. Then slice it VERY thinly and rebake until lightly brown and VERY crisp. It really should be called almond biscuits I guess
That's interesting. I suppose it's still edible after first baking but improves with being sliced down. Someone in my house would probably try it just to be sure.
I was throwing out Mum's recipe book (I know - feeling guilty) and flipped through all the recipes she had written up - obviously when she was visiting at friends
Did you copy out quite a few recipes?
Here is a similar recipe...http://www.bestrecipes.com.au /recipe/Almond-Bread-L553.html
No. I saved a couple to try. Thought I would give the Apricot Chicken casserole etc a miss otherwise!
Just looked up the almond recipe - with no marge etc it's probably fairly low fat. Have you got to the stage of tasting it or is that a couple of days away?
Mum was very much a burnt chops, mashed potatoes and boiled peas type of cook (just what my Dad liked!). It was only when she was in her late 40+s that she got more adventurous
I'm laughing at the idea of boiling peas - were these the dried peas, soaked and cooked sort?
Hopefully it will turn out like ones I have had a heap of times...very crispy - excellent with coffee
oh no - never dried peas...we kids were very good at shelling peas
Good morning ladies!
We had fresh peas from the garden when they were in season but those were the days before freezers etc so we used to have these dried things in the winter-time. They'd be soaked and brought back to life again but they bore little resemblance to the original fresh green pea.
Good morning, Flask!
found the ho words easily
haven't times changed...those were the days of lashing out at Christmas with a roast chicken - Wow!
Hi Flask & Cos
insomnia sux
I'd still use them if I were making soup along with lentils, barley etc but I'd never dream of serving them as a vegetable now. And yes, I remember when roast chicken was tasty!
mind you - Dad chopped the head off the chook and hung it on the Hills Hoist (rotary clothes line) before mum gutted it in the laundry trough
Hello, cosdem.
I take it you had your own chickens?
Ken seems to have a fascination w. dried peas - throws them into rice when he cooks it. A packet of dried peas actually costs a fortune nowadays
Didn't everyone?
I suppose if you lived out in the country there'd be chickens pecking away.
keeping chickens here has become a bit of a thing here lately - in the inner suburbs too
Husband's uncle used to have a little factory and at Christmas time he ordered turkeys for the directors and share-holders. They were sent out to hang in father-in-law's shed and husband remembers having to duck his head to avoid all these ghostly birds hanging about.
Our building blocks used to be quite large so when I was growing up so it was usual for most families to have a chook shed (40s and 50s).
They'll definitely taste better - the commercial varieties are only a matter of weeks old when they're slaughtered.
Turkeys have only become usual fare here in the last 15-20 years
Chickens are surprisingly stinky. You don't want to be downwind of a field being spread with chicken manure.
Huge demand here for organic free range chicken and eggs - cage variety and even barn raised varieties are definately on the wane
lol - I know! I spread chook poo mix on the garden last weekend . Phew!
It's grim, isn't it? Kind of takes you by surprise.
BBS - time to take out the bread
See you later, lynxxx.
clue for dr7 please?
dr7 - rearrange the first letters of Mr Stewart, singer, then the Spanish for 'will be' as with the Doris Day song.
Rod Stewart and Doris Day - now that would be an unlikely duetting couple.
wow way after my time lol thanks ill try to use that :)
I'm dating myself, aren't I?
naw im just... unique lol
back
lynxxx will remember Doris Day.
lets just say I got the word straight away
aw poo.. wtg :)
There are advantages to being older, cosdem.
yes i agree
Okay, try d plus a flower, finish with sun god.
found it
thanks anyway haz :)
i thought u meant jimmy stewart lol
Well done!
Lovely man, Jimmy Stewart, but I don't know what his singing voice was like.
good point
Any more clues needed? I'm about to be all disciplined and get the day started.
not for me but thankyou
No problem, lynxxx, I'll get moving on the housework front. Good to see you - bye all!
Bye - give puppy a pat for me
Will do - she's sleeping quietly here. Toodle-oo!

ok, 2nd day of school and his tummy hurst REALLY BAD. do I drag him to school?
he is sitting on the bathroom floor
Yes, drag him to school.
6th grade
absolutely...get him to school...
Start of middle school?
then find out why he doesnt want to go
... if he doesn't go now ... he'll never go to high school ...
yes, but he likes school and says that he wants to go , but his stomach hurts
sorry...just noticed the chog...he goes to school. tummy hurts isn't valid. tell him he can see the nurse if it doesn't go away.
If he is really sick, they will call you and you can go get him.
Seems like we have all taken Mothering 200.
My son went to the nurse many times for the tummy thing. She's be sweet to him, then send him back to class.
My girls don't ever see the nurse...all the kids are so different!
... I have a nephew who is in grade 7 but operates at a grade 2 level because his mother was worried about his tummy hurting ...
Change is hard for kids, and they don't necessarily know how to explain that sometimes.
going
wtg Sue!
Good for him!
Does anyone else feel broke after the start of school? Between extra supplies and fees and uniform rentals...I've spent a fortune this week!
I have a college student. We are beyond broke!
I feel your pain! I'm almost there...
My oldest had a brief college stint.
This is her last semester. Thank goodness.

Me? I wouldn't mind tampering with mine, to decrease it.

That's pretty darn stupid!

And they're sober too...morons!
thank you, any clues for the re8,50 please
ho5 thy father and mother
aaron, one is the person doing it, the other is the person having it done to them.
my husband took our daughter to Montreal a couple weeks ago - father daughter trip - drinking age there is 18 and she is 18. He tried to buy her a drink at a bar they went to and she didnt want it. Go figure! She is one of the few against drinking.
any easier clues

<--- Loves Eva's husband's t-shirt
Hi TO! Are you ready for Irene?
<----- Loves Molly!
as much as anyone can be, cannot prevent flooding
Yup. Will batten down the hatches and move in the furniture. After that, will sit back and watch it!
power went out last night so i had a dress rehearsal. i am going out to get a battery lantern and some more flameless candles
those candles are good inlieu of night lights for bathroom and kkitchen
I'd never heard of flameless candles, just googled them to satisfy my curiousity.
hello haz!
Hi Haz!
They are definitely safer.
Hello, TO and everyone. Sorry to hear the weather sounds so grim for you.
don't t hrow the same amount of light by a long shot, but as night lights and to light the way perfect
I am twisted...I LOVE weather and I am looking forward to it!
it is so beautiful right now. typical hurricane weather. thank god we now have forecasting
It sounds like a great idea.
The forecasting gives you time to prepare so that's good. I hope it isn't as bad as predicted.
they are very realistic and have scented ax often. can use with greens on mantel with no fear
So they'd be good at Christmas. A local department store already has Christmas goods out. Maybe I should tell them about the flameless candles.
Deja vu...stats for the center O please?
or5/12 and its plural.
TY Haz!
Same as the or5/12 that tells you what to do, change the middle consonant.
i can't believe you don't have them! when i come over next year i will h ave to bring some
Sorry, gave clue when stats only requested. Have slapped hand...
You're coming over next year?
i am consideing going to london ith the radio station
What time of year?
no exactly next door
Stats please for the single A to the upper right?
al4/4
AL4/4
TY!
It's not next door, you're right.
Are you going to cover the Olympics?
may 5-13
no when do they begin?
I can't say that I love weather, nor do I love extended power outages and downed trees.
You're fine, then, I think the games are later than that in July. I should check to make sure.
i am with you molly
well haz, let me put it to you this way: it is not wind that kills, it is water. no avoiding that and the fact that we have had over 13 inches of rain so far in august. there is no preparation, really. in the old days people ould be taken in by the calm before the storm, having no idea of anything to come.
No, don't love those aspects.
Yes, July, so hotel prices in May should be more reasonable.
we had downed trees after yesterday'sheavy t storms
hi, everybody, and TO I definitely agree- water/floods - I am just hoping for the best, and for you too
Hi JBV!
for you as well, jbv
and not to scare anybody, but I actually know someone who was killed by a tree falling on him in a bad storm about 2 years ago
I just brought in some small flowerpots from the backyard, but I can't bring in all the heavy ones - goodbye, impatiens!
oh no, jbv, you must. i am preparing a spot in the basement, which will get water anyay
Oh JBV! That is awful!
no, the pots are too large and heavy - and what about my tomato plants? I hate this, really
hello again everyone
Hello River!
I suppose you just have to take the practical view and say that they'd be dying off eventually anyway, they're just going sooner than you'd hoped.
mot too heavy for the wind to pick up and throw through your window, can you push them along the ground?
Hello, River.
where are you JBV
oh, no I don't think the pots will be moved, just that the flowers will be destroyed
central NJ, and really, Haz, the tomato plants have not been doing that well, anyway, they're kind of half dead already :)
There you are. They're only half-hearted about living.
i am hoping my neighbors take their 7 garbage cans that they store near my 8 foot window and put them inside. also the laddet attached to the top of their turcj that is 6 feet fromit.
be safe JBV
JBV, my tomato plants are the same. Are you in the same location as you were when Isabel came through? If so, how much damage did you have from that storm? This looks to be about the same intensity.
when was Isabel? remind me - I'm sorry I'm not on a first name basis with all the hurricanes :)\
suicidal tomato plants, LOL, Haz
2003
for haz http://xpn.org/images/pdfs/wc-2012-lon donitinerary.pdf
yes, garbage pails, I remember running down the street after 2 of mine one year
Ask them to put them all inside TO.
i don't care if they fly away only if they fly into my triple window
The British Invasion - this sounds ominous.... reading on.
or anyone else inerested in goiing to london next year, need a roommate
I'm going to be in Bath in September so I can let you know what it's like and Stratford is lovely.
http://www.caregiverstress.com/2010/07 /a-reminder-that-laughter-is-the-best- medicine/
actually, i need to find a sugar daddy ;)
Oxford is lovely, so is Windsor. That was where I heard one American lady say that they had managed to make the place look very old with the cobbles.
Humour going round the world!¬ Try this link it will make you laugh
Sorry did that in two parts but it stiull applies!!
Gracious, I see now why it's so expensive. You'd be staying in the Grosvenor?
is that good?
It's huge. It's where lots of award dinners are held.
omg deeha too funny
Deeha, thanks for that - it's great!
Isnt it amazing I am sending an American link to Americans!!
TO Iam two hours from London if you fancy a trip to the seaside and to a very pretty little town let me know
W
ty dee, it is a pipedream at present, is rather expensive i thought
Thats the Grosvenor for you!!
well you only SLEEP in the hotel, i would want to be out most of the night and day
i should just take the plunge and go on my own
For the price you'd be paying, I'd camp out the whole day to get my money's worth.
I can't help feeling that they're being optimistic in thinking that during the overnight flight you'd be able to 'feel the vibrant energy of England'. That's the engines that are throbbing....
Is it the rock aspect that interests you about the tour, TO?
hello all
I am as ready as I will ever be for this hurricane
Hello, peri, glad you're feeling prepared.
it is the communal aspect as well.
help with O in the middle pls
There's no doubt that it would be a well-organised tour and I'm sure you'd find the others of a similar mind.
... think of a type of window that starts with a "d" then lose the "d" ... or5 and or6
or5/12 and its plural.
ty Haz and dose
It would be good if you could get a travelling companion, though, even to offset the price of single room supplements.
OMG that was a great video - thanks deeha
fireworks for me - must get to work now - have a great day folks
Well done, Riverdance.
thanks Haz - poof
Hey again everybody.
Hello, Soodle.
Haz! Last time I saw you, your daughter was on honeymoon. I had a look at the wedding pics. You all looked fantastic. Ye clean up rightly!!
Don't I just? Five hours of make-up, three hours in the hairdresser's and I'm fit to be seen.
Did anyone read the story about the dog of the Navy SEAL killed in Afganistan, and what the dog did at his funeral. One of the best stories of animal devotion I've ever read.....http://tinyurl.com/3gltq5v
Does it come with a warning about being a tearjerker?
Hiya Molly. Lump in throat.....
It's sad in every respect, Molly.
I read and reread 'Rilla of Ingleside' and always wept for that little dog waiting at the station, even though I knew that Jem was really alive.
it was
that pictureof that dog beside the coffin had me bawling
That is truly a story for those callous few who say "they're just animals".
did you read the stories about the animals at the national zoo before the quake Tuesday?
well, the sun is shining here, so I'll guess I
oops, guess I'll go out for my walk -
see you later
hey kiddoes. in and out (sneaking babble time at work!)
help with lone A pls
al4/4, peri.
Hello, jesdraggon.
sheesh, ty Haz
nbt, nbs
You're welcome.
good morning everyone:)
bye jbv. i will go as well .left my vis at the auto shop this morning and must go retrieve it and run errands.
help with ho7/8 pls
See you again, TO. I'm on my way out as well. Good morning, crosshair.
The ho7s and ho8s all build off ho5/12 - to give regard to, to respect,
bye haz, see you tomorrow. there has been a HAZ hazmat truck parked on the road into the development for over a week, and every time i see it i think of you! i should send a photo
ok, have that ho5, will look
And the last ho7 is a plural cry of triumph.
I'll look out for it, TO.
Okay, off I go. Bye for now.
ty Haz, found them all
it's a very nice truck. beautiful lettering. ;)
And all apostrophes correct?
not an apostrophe in sight, now THAT'S a first
should get points for that
Excellent! I shudder every time I walk past a baker's van that advertises Cakes for wedding's and anniversary's.
With apologies to those of sensitive nature! I'm gone now.
:D *poof*
Saw a beautiful statement on apostrophes last night...
Apostrophe: The difference between a business that knows its shit, and one that knows it's shit.
EXCELLENT!!! LOL!!!
It is pretty much perfect, is it not? :)
the whole apostrophe thing makes me NUTS!! :-)
i keep getting frustrated because i can't make "erode" fit in this grid!
it's like someone decided to make apostrophes optional! LOL
(among other apostrophe sins, of course)
yeah. and quote marks. quotation DOES NOT equal emphasis!
indeed!!
ok, off to grab a very late breakfast! :-)
have fun :)
Jess! Love the quote about the apostrophe.
i may have to change the signature on my emails to that quote :)
The sad thing is, so many people will stare blankly thinking: I don't get it.
wasn't apostrophe now a Coppola flick?
and i will know that i don't want to do business with those people, mol :)
i am sad that morose is a phantom
off i go to do some work. back later! :)
actually, you will not wish to do business with the sign company that did the work on his vehicle
:)
as long as the man makes great cakes,i do not care if he has to make his mark when he signs things:)
*a big lurking chuckle for Ruru's Coppola comment*
:D.. glad someone got it.
rats . . . I really want "jowl" . . .
apostrophe now "there is nothing finer than the smell of punctuation in the morning"
Ruru, that was my era :-)
crossy!! LOL
Flight of the Valkyrie's

I am usually so bad with putting apostrophes in the wrong place.. I shouldn't comment..lol
:-D
half the time i do not even bother in here
ok, taking pups out to pee . . . *poof*
if i need a spell checker i shall turn it on in the windows programme, but since it is american biased it does me no good anyways
if i cannot have my arbour,colour,theatre..fuggedaboutit:)
Hi all. Is anyone having trouble with the "A" on the upper right corner?
al 4 beth
babblet
It's so confusing, because there are no actours, motours, errours or tenours.
what about the center O (3rd row) - everything i try comes off the other Os
I have nothing from that o
Thanks ruru. I just had to refresh Babble.
lol molly
it's or5 wv
or 5/12

the or 5/12 that i have comes the O above - what you do in a restaurant

Hurricane prep about complete. Hubs up on the roof now cleaning gutters.
I hope you are all safe on the east coast.. looks scary to me
fp
We are far enough inland that all we are going to see is lots of rain and wind. And as always, possibility of tornados.
YAWWWWWN. I think "Irene" will barely be a category 1 when it arrives here in Delalware. Mandatory evac orders for the coastal areas though. Wheeeee!
And, good afternoon, by the way.
Hello, Judi.
Regardless, there is a massive freak-out going on over the impending weather in Delaware. Oy.
They are freaking out in NYC too.
Which is even more, ridiculous, Bea. It will barely be a tropical storm when it gets that far north - if it even still exists by then.
Yes, I know.
Personally, I plan on finding a kick-ass hurricane party somewhere!
I stocked up on beer and wine. =)
Go Judi Go! I wonder how they are going to roust all those drunken hippies from Ocean City?
smart thinking Bzz

are there two ho8?
yes
both come from the same base word
I have the one that builds off of the ho512
oh, ok
found three ho7 but only one ho8
not all from the same base word tho
my 3 7s all come from the same base word, the 8 is a pl of the lasdt 7
ok, I am missing a 7 then
there are two 7/8 combos with the ho
One who does that H thing, and the plural
I have the last one, I think
One who is the recipient of that H thing, and the plural
that is the combo I have Molly, missing the other combo
the second one is the person doing the ho5, the first one is the person receiving the ho5
Ends in double vowel
ty it was the recipient one I was misssing, ty so much Molly

Your welcome Peri. All set for the big storm?
yep, and you, Molly?
I am hoping it will not be too bad when it reached our area
well my friends,i must head to work, but before i go i give you by popular demand crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!!
Enacted in 1953, an Ohio law states that no person shall be arrested on the Fourth of July nor on a Sunday, while going to/from a designated place of worship.
tc and happy babbling!...poink!
big storm?...there is a big storm?
Yes, I heard an unconfirmed rumor.
hmmm... i havent heard ANYTHING about any storm
I've been through some long power outages, so I'm used to the drill. Make sure all the laundry is done, prep some food, make a big batch of popcorn, get the jigsaw puzzles out, etc.
i have a kitchn to clean adn i am sooo...meh i just did aa UGE grocery shop
back for a sec, carlee seem there is a slight chance our eastern seaboard areas may get some backlash from a catagory 1 or 2 hurricane, just enough to rattle the windows:)..real poink!

I wait until it's closer to our "window" to turn up the fridge, bring things inside and charge the charge-ables.

which means we will see some cool clouds...and get no rain...and a gentle breeze off the lake
You keep propane in your car? : O

anybody talked to Annie in Brooklyn? Wondering if she's gonna be staying with friends or relatives further inland?
Watching Bloomberg's live press conference on CNN
yea..i saw it
amazing measures being taken . . .
back in a mo *poof*
They are taking this pretty seriously. East Coast ground transit has been shut down.
wait, just passing by and saw your post Molly, transit shut down but people are expected to evacuate? are they kidding?
where do they think all these people are going to go? I heard someone say last night, just stay with friends. As if there were nothing to it, as if everybody has friends, as if the friends are also not in the same target area. Makes me crazy
I don't know JBV, it's the RUN FOR YOUR LIFE mentality. Sure, people on the immediate coast should get to higher ground. Further inland, they are concerned about downed wires and big time power outages. We just got the recorded message from our power company. BE READY AND DON'T CALL US WHINING.
I got a call from our local police department, recording with same message - don't be scared be prepared
People are going to start realizing the importance of having a land line. Cell phones are usually useless in emergency situations. And you need to have a "non-wireless" phone to plug into that land line connection.
What do you mean by "non-wireless" phone - will my cordless phone not work? I have no idea how it works
wireless phones take electricity
if no power then no phone
just popped in to see if mrp was here - guess not - must get back to work - be safe in the storm everyone...will be batt'n down the hatches myself
so what's the point of having a land line then? am I doing something wrong? please explain
I do have one regular phone direct - not a cordless - that will work without power
You need an older model, push button, non-wireless phone to maintain your land line phone service in a power outage.
I still have a rotary phone, that rings : D
oh, OK, I have one of those in my bedroom, the phone wire is plugged into a phone outlet on the wall!
So will that one work even if all the other (cordless) phones don't?
hullo
that is an oldie.. you are all set then JBV - gotta run - poof
Yes it will JBV. The wireless phones need to be plugged into an electrical outlet. That phone in your bedroom does not.
I think I have a box of rotary phones in the garage - why? don't even ask, but I'm sure I can't find them
hi dorens, everything battened down??
Hi Dorens
not at all battened down, trying to get off the island tomorrow morning... in martha's vineyard.. had ferry reservations for sunday!!
Landlines carry the power they need to operate a phone that plugs into them. Cordless models use electricity from your house service, so if that goes out, the cordless phone base is nonfunctional. If the phone lines are damaged, you won't have service, but as long as they remain intact, a corded land line will work. The instrument can be push button, so long as it draws its power from the landline and does not depend on house current. Wireless phones are not particularly reliable in emergencies (like our recent earthquake) because towers can be damaged or lose power or be overwhelmed with callers. Phone service via cable is as vulnerable as the cable service itself.
Is that the Rhode Island ferry? I read it's shutting down Friday afternoon.
no molly the steamship authority! (great name isn't it?)
might try to get out tonite - depends on if they can get extra ferries in.... they're all booked up for cars already.
Hope you get home safe and sound Dorens.
oh! you're still in Martha's Vineyard - wishing you a safe trip, doren
thanks, Callie - I do understand when you explain it like that, I guess it's something I've never really thought about, fortunately we have never lost phone service here (been here 21 years)
dw
And the stupidity stories begin. 8 people were swept off a jetty in West Palm Beach Florida. What were they doing there? Watching the storm. Idiots abound.
oh boy
hi all. that sounds like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, molly. assuming you've got a death wish, i mean.
hi all
Hi TO
i am glad i kept my plug in phone, but sorry i switched to fios. phone will alst as long as the backup battery does, but i never lost phone service ever until fios

GDay Babblers! :0)
morning all :)
hi all
ram ees
hi mrp {{hugs}}
hi bb
careleekat? If you're on G+ could you check for posts please? Think that's you there but not sure?
NN.. i removed it
hi all - am leaving in a minute but wanted to drop in!
Removed what?
after the tongue lashing i received...i decided it is not worth the trouble...and nor is it worth the trouble for those in your circle for whom it could make trouble
If that's you, didn't want you to remove anything... just make those changes I described.
What tongue lashing? Huh? Didn't see any such thing there... what are you talking about?
i deleted the circle entirely
from a friend of your brother's
its ok ... NN.. i have had enough crap in my life... i dont need more crap..i appreciate your kindness.. truly :)
If you mean J, I didn't see any such thing there? There was nothign nasty about it at all... how are you seeing that?
Well I didn't see any crap there and neither did anyone else that I'm aware? Just asking Laura.
it is because he knows very well who I am... and he knows my story...
its ok... :)
hi carlee!! sue!! neil!! et al :) **hugs**
and honestly..i dont want to ever embarrass.. nor miss click on anything that could jeopardize anyone there
hi, mrp! good to see you!!!
Ummm, no. Apparently he didn't know who you were, because the name you're using isn't familiar to him and he didn't recognize the photos you're using. He's probably never seen them before. So all he knew is a total stranger was tryign to add him and that's a big privacy concern. I can't understand why you want to think that, but whatever?
he woul dknow from the nic name just as you did dear :)
All he was doing was trying to find out who it was, for pete's sake. Totally understandable. Nothing nasty about that... he clearly didnt' know.
its...ok he is right
for privacy.. i rather not...for your's and his..and others
Umm, no. I didn't know from the nickname at all, because it's nothing like the one you use here... so obviously he didn't know it either. The only way I had any idea, is that when you joined you were automatically added to my circles... which meant you were someone I had invited. He had no way of seeing that. so that's a very unfair assumption.
how you going girls and boys?
carleekat... and the email dear :) as he said...everything was visible
Huh?
carlee, you ok sweetheart?
all is ok MRP...i have had a weepy day ...lots of dad memories
I am good, mrp, but waiting for Frank to take me to the doctor (routine checkup) and he is late :-(
{{{{{{{carlee}}}}}}}
poor babe... so sorry
yea... i have really been missing him...
well frankly!! darn it sue!
All he sould have seen is that name that's nothing like the one you use here. And photos he wouldn't have recognized I'm guessing. So that's not much to go on. The only reason I suspected it might be you is because of the automatic connection to my page when you joined... so that had to be on an invitation, see? He couldn't have seen or known any of that though. Hope that's clearer? There's no way he could have known who you were.
this must be one of those waves of grief
its ok NN... no worries :)
those waves are tremendous, but eventually do come down to small splashes on the sands of time
And I still don't see any 'tongue lashing' there at all and still not understanding that?
and honestly..in another week... I wont have time... I will be working full time...going to school full time with 200 km of commuting every day...
neil, i think carlee is asking you to leave it be hunny
going to wait outside...see you all later!!!
200km!!! shite
ooh, carlee, so glad the school is working out!!!
bye sue
bye sue!! good luck hunny
stop working!! full time school is bullshyte enough!
throw in the time i need to spend with my kids... i will barely be around... I do appreciate your kindness :)
i have to hun... i need a roof to live under and food for the kids
we luv ya and care and know your scars... all will work out sweets
anyway... today has just been a rough day...
Sorry. Just wanted to make it clear that nobody was giving her a tongue lashing... because they weren't. Didn't want her thinking that.
monday will be 4 weeks...
you better be around!
no worries neil :)
mrp..u know how to contact me
Nobody's angry. Just didn't know who you were and tried to figure that out. Sorry for all the trouble you're going thorough carleekat.
carlee is going thru grief... it is a hard feeling to swallow down
its ok nn... really
luv and kindness carlee... always
grief with a load of shite that just keeps getting heaped on...
Hi carlee, I did see the posts. I'm sure no harm was meant. I'm sorry you are grieving.
thanks faux :)
anyway... MRp..hows things with you? how did the lawyer appt go?
We would all be glad to have you there.
I couldn't imagine losing my daddy with all that is going on with me either carlee.... a piece of me would die inside... *((hugs))*
its ok... seriously.. honestly..please.just let it be... ok...???
lawyer was great! so much more relaxed now... i don't have to do this on my own! and he is an old school mate of Lickety!
That would be horrible. I can't imagine losing my dad... I'm very sorry for your awful loss, carlee. :(
thanks nn
excellent news hun... time to kick some dickwad ass
**hugs** all round (((carlee)))
that Prick is gonna show his colours in court... and my lawyer is looking forward to that
Sorry for whatever trouble you're going through there, mrp. You obviously don't need that added stress, geez. I'm glad you have a good lawyer on your side now and hope he gets it all straightened out for you fast!
oh neil, it has been disasterous having a stalker... totally obsessed in a bad bad way.
NN.. you have just come in here..in the what i hope is the end of a very long 4 years of crap... my now dxh was involved in a serious accident...i saw him through his rehabilitation ( he was in hospital for 4 month 100 km away ) holding dwon the house...dealing witht he kids..working full time.. so forth...after getting him healthy and so forth..he left... and now he has taken a job with no benefits and 1/3 of his original wage so he can doside jobs and pay me less than 1/3 of my rent let alone support for th ekids
Oh my god... after you did all that for him? Geez.
your dXh is a right turd
as he is doing this..my father was diagnosed with cancer 1 year ago..and he died 4 weeks ago...
( that just an overview )
he changed neil... after the accident... he changed to bitter/twisted
That's awful, mrp. I can relate... having a family member stalked by some really insane people. It's nuts and a real worry. You sure don't need that stress in your life!
Oh my god, carlee. :(
thanks neil... being able to relate is why I come and chat to you luving people
So sorry either of you have all this crap. I often wonder what's wrong with people. Seriously.
anyway nn... i just dont want to crate any headache...even in advertently...
sociopath neil... more medication needed for my stalker!
Oh I could tell you stories of people like that, mrp. Seen a lot of crap in the last couple of years and it's really snaken my faith in humanity.
MRp and I could write a soap opera and earn a bazillion $$$ just writing about our lives
Sociopath or even total psychopath.
oh neil! keep up the faith... there are really really great people that negate the crap people
You could, carlee... but who would believe it? Life is stranger than fiction sometimes and unfortunately, strange in a bad way.
definitely .. there are great people out there
we should carlee! would run as long as the Bold & Beautiful! LOL
Oh I know, mrp... just saying, there are so many crazies out there I wasn't aware of before.
and for the great peoplle out there i wouldnt change how i live...
neil, have you seen my FB post?? if you are on my FB?
( i work for a criminal defence lawyer...I live on the border with USA.... i KNOW about the crazies out there )
Oh yeah, I guess you would!
carlee wrote a great inspirational piece on her blog... it was good stuff
Oh yes?
thank you hun...
do you want to share your blog here carlee??
i am forcing myself to see good things NN
( the link is on my profile hun)
cause I think it is thoughtful and forward
neil, check out carlee's profile for the blog link if you like
so...i decided if i start writing a blog... i will have to find the smiles in ordinary every day life...
I'm not on your FB, mrp. I don't use FB for anything anymore, other than just to keep in touch with the last of my college alumni who are connected with me there just to keep in touch... I emptied out my FB page some time ago when I learned about the security flaws and am waiting to delete it all, once the last of my college contacts get moved onto G+.
its on my babble profile NN
ah, G+ is taking off I hear!
ok, finally 7am and better get ready for the little darlings... am doing 6 hours of reffing today for Gala Day
have fun with it MRP
a nice warm shower and about 10 valium should do it! LOL
hahaha... Luv you hun (( hugs))
I have a few blogs too. Writing is very therapeutic sometimes.
Yes it is, mrp. And there's no such thing as a private FB page anymore... many web pages around that enable any member of the public to view any 'private' FB page so I'm not using it anymore.
see you all later! xoxoxoxo to you carlee and neil... may the camel toe from hell find those of contempt!!
woohoo..i like that hun!!!
Haha, mrp!
And may the fleas of 1.000 camels infest their pubic hair.
1,000 even.
hahahaha !!
That's got to be my favorite curse.
luv it! ciao sweeties! xox
Bye for now mrp.
Take care!
i am going to get dinner ready for the kidlets... and apparently unload a crap load of stuff from abck of the car
take care NN {{hugs}}
Ok carlee, take care. Just followed your blog, btw.
i hope u enjoy it... or at least will make u chuckle once in a while
nite
You can find and follow my blog too, carlee... should be a way to do that now that I'm following yours? If you're still here?
I hope mine will do the same. My older blog I've reposted there should, anyway. They're the ones I had in my old website, before it got hacked and deleted on me... that was 'fun'.
I am babbling, eating popcorn and sipping apricot brandy :)

Greetings Babble friends!
Hi Scrabs, I thought I was the only one here.
I've been checking FB games, e-mail, etc, and wondered what to do next (as I watch the Weather Channel) and I remembered Babble!
They are just foaming at the mouth on The Weather Channel, aren't they?
good... evening? morning? Night here... to all babble friends
Yep, and so repetitive. It's hard to know how much is hype vs this storm will be REALLY BAD
Hi Sprite
hi Scrabs and Molly
Hi Sprite. As for the hurricane, it's like all the other weather systems. You don't really know until it hits you.
bad weather predicted?
Major hurricane working it's way up the East Coast of the US.
Hurricane Irene is bag and bad and will cream the US east coast starting now.
ouch :( I hope it loses its strength before it hits, and that all of you will be ok.
Funny Sprite, your icon looks like a celestial hurricane. : )
glad I live in Utah
GEvening all Babblers... :0)
hehehe yes it does!
The entire east coast, including NY City, is being evacuated. What a mess.
hi wrath and Maryte
Y'all Utahopians just deal with major snow storms, right?
Hi Mary and wrath.
HI Maryte
hi all
Wrath, I fell in love with your state in June when I was on a 6 day hiking trip at Bryce and Zion.
I grew up by zion it is a very cool place
*loves cabins at Bryce*
Evening all. May I please have a clue for re8-50? Thanks
It sure is. I made it to the top of Angels Landing. Scary!
hi Ciocia and peach
Hi Georgia
Hi Ciocia
Howdy all!
Hi there sprite and Scrabbler.
Should be bringing in the plastic porch furniture . . .
At Bryce we stayed in a rustic appearing 2 story building near the lodge.
a couple of years ago we stayed at the lodge in Zion in April so there was snow on the ledges very pretty
Zion and Bryce are absolutely gorgeous. Been there twice.
sorry peach, I only have the or8 so far
re 8/50 color + equine
thanks Molly
: )
how about a clue for the or8
the people who do the or5/12ing
those who ask for food in a restaurant
hi Dispatch
hello there sprite
I was trying that I just had the last letter wrong
sometimes it is hard to spot how a wo4 goes
lol
I went to make a quick dinner of 2 veggie burgers + broccoli.
sometimes I just try a wo4 because the letters seem to be there, then I am surprised it takes and I have trouble figuring out how it actually goes :)
doesn't sound like a feast, Scrabs. Was it good?
When we started the hiking tour at Bryce there was snow in the mountains, 34 degrees and snowing.
That sounds like Utah
I haven't eaten it yet--cooling off. I do not like to cook. I microwave or heat food to save time.
I don't like to cook either
Who does
my husband, praise him
peach, did you get the ho8/45 yet?
hi, all! Made it through the first week of classes!!
I have a friend who loves to cook and loves to go out to restaurants to eat good food.
wtg uusue!
Yay Sue! How are the students so far? Worrying about course requirements already?
I forgot just how tired I get...
I have a friend like that. She even goes to places to cook for 20 - 30 people, or more.
redhorse
.....crap......
good one, Maryte
Yay Mary!
yes, I was surprised that it was a wo** too, maryte :-)
How was Leo's first week?
Could have been one I didn't have, Maryte!
akkkkk
"Crap was not found in this puzzle"
Bah hahaha...
;)
I think it was pretty good, scrabs, he's been mostly staying at a friend's house (who is moving to San Francisco in a couple of weeks - guy friend) - and i haven't seen him much
No, I haven't, Dispatch.....thanks
but so far he seems to like all his classes, thinks the only one that's really going to be challenging is Calculus 3
thanks Dispatch
I'm still missing one of the 8s. Haven't gone to the list yet, so I'm just plugging away.
same for me
Calculus 3 challenging? Ya think? : P
he is also retaking physics 2 (having gotten a D in it in the spring - mostly because of his life having been messed up for reasons I won't get into again), and taking English 103 and Communication 100 (typical freshman courses, although he's a sophomore)
sounds like a good combination in his situation
brb
I think so, sprite, a couple of hard courses to keep him focused and a couple of easy ones to get his GPA up
lAST WORD NEEDED. RE 8 pLEASE HELP with a clue
yes and the overall feeling he can do it, to get his confidence back

hi Bea and Champ
Hello sprite
I love math! I often long to relearn calculus, differential equations, linear algebra...
hi sprite! just checking in...finished earlier. will clue if needed.
firewo rks, thanks
Hi Champ
gratz inge
Sehr gut, Inge!
yay, inge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
Sue, is your fatherrrrrrr in any danger from the hurricane?
Sorry, my E and R keys have been sticking.
YEA! INGE!
wtg Inge! You can clue...bye all! See you tomorrow. Stay safe those of you in the path!
bye Champ, you too
May I please have any clues for ho's....I have the first and last 4 only.....thanks
Peach...they gave the party in ho5 of their Mom. Build some words off that as well.
I need to talk to him, scrabs; he's on top of a ridge so no problem with floods; no tall trees next to his house so that should not be a problem either. Mostly I worry about what would happen if his power goes out for an extended period of time.
Thanks so much, Molly.
: )
7 of the ho wo5 are related to that one
I got 5 words from your clue, Molly.
I have the 7 now. TY!
It's a bonus word. : )
ha, finally got all 7!
ho6/ and ho7 - cheers
several ho words have to do with being distingueished with an award.
nice :)
My sister has a brook 50-70 feet behind her home and it is likely to flood. She and her husband are stacking sandbags.
btw (as I put in my profile), I think it is pretty funny that his soon-to-be-ex wife is named Irene - the whole east coast is now dreading her arrival :-)
Hahaha.
lol
(I have not mentioned that to him yet but I doubt it has escaped his notice)
And will be glad when she departs too.
may both Irenes be more fearful up front than in reality
thanks inge...I had one ho8 but not the other!
indeed, molly!
well, sprite, she has refused his final offer to settle, so he won't be seeing her in reality again, in all likelihood
scrabs....are you buckled in?
very good. She should be very very ashamed of herself.
I think so too, sprite, although she has her own issues, and at their ages all I can do is shake my head in bewilderment.
Gads Sue, what a selfish, bitter woman.
wisely spoken. But your dad deserves better :)
Carlee, I'm not at risk for anything more than rain.
hey carlee :)
good... we might see some pretty cloud formations here
my daughter and I will make your banana split pie on Sunday
hi ya sprite
excellent!!!!
i got everything to make Pig cake for mon/ tues
pig cake?
well, molly, she was quite ill herself, wanted more round-the-clock care than he could give her, and became quite frightened when he was injured and gone for 5 weeks; I understand that. I even understand why she wanted to go into assisted living near her sons. I don't understand why she is insisting on a divorce instead of just living apart.
Now there is a tornado watch along the NC coast.
or why she is doing it in such a hurtful way
yea...disgusting name... yellow cake mix and as you are mixing it up 4 eggs etc ) you add a a can of mandarin oranges....the frosting is cool whip with vanilla pudding and crushed pineapple mixed together
( your story is all coming together for me now sue...i remember all this "starting" several months ago )
I think i will rename the cake orange tropical dream cake
indeed, sprite! she said (in response to his latest overture) that she feels like he cares more about the house than he does about her. He doesn't, but he sees himself as a provider, and part of that is providing a place to live (my interpretation).
carlee, the whole story is still in my profile, but you have to scroll past all the physics babblets to get to it :-)
That is the part that I don't get Sue. And as I've said before, this all stinks of involvement from her son.
anyone have a clue for the re8/50 please??
he is right about that. And I am glad he is taking care of himself and not losing it all to her.
colour + equine, hi cwest
well, he was there the last time I visited, molly, and had a very long talk with my dad and me. He really heard what my dad had to say; as far as I can tell he relayed it to her faithfully. I did talk to her right after they argued (back in February) and she said right then that as far as she was concerned the marriage was over. So it is certainly not originating with him, although he is certainly on her side (as I am on my dad's)
thanks sprite! right in front of my nose!!
and hi, cwest!
i clue please?
I had help with that one as well :)
Sue, what does she want that prompted "you care more about the house than you do about me". (Said by the woman who abandoned her husband)
in + 2 vowles
the hairy nosed dolphin babblet, Scrabs
in4/4 babblet, scrabs
Anger makes people irrational.
so very true
I think because he wanted to stay in the house despite her insistence that she needed more care than she could get there, molly
Smack me with that dolphin! Go ahead, press that hairy nose right in my face.
awww that is a sweet little kiss, Scrabs.
Oh, okay. And in home care wasn't an option?
he told me that he plans to be there another 5-10 years (remember, he is 90!)
( going to try pumpkin pie flavoured ice cream )
That's good, Sue. Great attitude.
she wanted to be able to push a button and have a nurse run in within less than a minute, molly, and you can't get that at home.
he must be a wonderful man
So what kind of care is she getting now?
Yummy, Carlee.
( iT IS ... has pieces of cinnamon cookie in it )
she's in assisted living, molly - an apartment in a complex that has 24-hour on-site nursing available (so she can push a button, etc)
It is so sad when a couple who are together suddenly see things so completely differently and there is no bridge between them to come together again
I had mint chocolate cookie ice cream on Wednesday---so yummy.
he can be difficult, sprite - rather opinionated and stubborn (TOTALLY different from me, of course :-) but yes, he is a pretty great guy
just had another pint of chocolate arctic ice -- 137 cal
( this is a new presisdent's choice flavour )
:)
We used to be able to get President's Choice products at a store here, but no more.
hi Shirlockc
I got some frozen plain unsweetened yogurt from Trader Joe's - quite tart, not at all sweet, but very refreshing!
i started making my own yogurt as puppy has decided that yogurt is the MOSt amazing thing going
we made an apple smoothie today... apple, yoghurt and a bit of cinnamon. Lovely. Tart.
puppy is right :-)
how do you make your own yoghurt?
At 104/102 I am done with this grid. I shall return in the morning.
the stores were CRAZY, people were buying water like it was the end of the world
buying a 1/2 L tub for 3.00 or making 2L for 3.00
nite nite scrabs
night Scrabs, sleep well
night, scrabs!
And that's why I stocked up on water Wednesday Shirl.
nah not why... how!
yogurt starter, heated milk, let it sit at about 120F for several hours
u just take 2L of milk ( I am using whole milk ) and mixing in 4 tbsp of yogurt with active culture in it...( read the label )... mix it in thoroughly....cover your bowl with celophane... and place in a WARM place 9 I set on the floor in front of vent for the moter for my fridge..I place a blanket around it to keep it toasty..and let sit for 12 hours....voila..yoghurt
ok don't know a yoghurt starter, will check it out
I actually have a yogurt maker that keeps it at the right temperature overnight, and you can use a couple of tablespoons of fresh yogurt as a starter
ah I see! Thanks :)
Okay, I have always thought yogurt was gross. Now that I know how it's made, I think it's even grosser.
(sorry bout the typos..am guardin gmy ice cream from a dog...)
mine says to boil the milk, so I do (before putting the starter in, because that would kill it) but apparently it is not necessary
cheese is gross to molls...and STINKS if you ahve ever been in a cheese factory...and BEER..is ICKY!!!!!!
and you can add extra powdered milk to make it thicker and higher in calcium
Yes, but cheese and beer are not slimy.
it's an acquired taste, molly :-)
yes..u can...i am just using whole milk for puppy and he gets a healthy cup / day
depends on the cheese.
<----- loves cheese
and when beer is in the process iof fermenting...YES..is slimy ( used to make 15 gal a day )
and I love beer too
50* galllon a day
I love cheese, and beer, although I love cheese more.
Correction...are not slimy when you eat/drink them.
dh?
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
and when I visited the 17th century cheese maker in a barn in Gruyere (Switzerland) it was not stinky, at least while they were boiling the mild - maybe it got stinky later.
HI minver..
hi Minver
Good evening, Miniver.
dh + double vowel + egyptian sun god
again, molly, it depends on the cheese. It is possible for (perfectly good) cheese to be rather slimy in texture (or rather yogurt-like, anyway; I've had food go slimy in the refrigerator, and it is not the same to me)
hi min!
the Dh 6 kinda reminds me of how a drunken "Doh a " deer.. would sound
I will refrain from asking about the need for 15 gallons of beer a day.
50....goes back to my wine making days... I made 8 6+ gallon batches/ day..making teh wort.adding hops etc...boiling....cooling...getting it fermenting...
you'd need about 60 friends (or customers), molly :-)
finally figured out the dh, thx guys
I looked into making beer once. There are some things that are not worth the trouble of making, and beer is one of them. Cost to make exceeds cost to buy already made.
yw Shirlockc
we had teh equipment...huge copper kettles.. and a cooling sleeve on the kettles...bought the malt in huge 25 gallon drums...same with sucose and glucose...
sucrose*
so quite the operation, carlee!
yeap.. it was..
So you used to live in a brewery Carlee? : )

Roaring being the operative word!!

I'm sure, that being the Mother of the birthday boy, Soodle stayed sober, demure and...ahahahahaha I can't finish that.
i ws going to say..u crossing ur fingers behind ur back molls?
Tsk.Tsk. Soodle was a paragon of virtue.!!
soodle is the one who is crossing her fingers behindher back
VIRTUE...Very Inebriated Rowdy Tarted-Up Evildoer
I'll drink to that molls
caleekat, are those purple crayons? cant quite make it out
yeap... they are
i keep them handy for peeps who wish to purple out a particularily difficult letter ( most often the re's )
i was with 6 of my grandkids at the crayola factory two weeks ago. it was fun.
SOODLE!!!!!!!!!!! The party just had to be a success!
*Must remember to get Soodle the "Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History" t-shirt.
that would be fun!!!!
E-mail will follow.
well i want a clue for the i word for i on upper left corner. any cluesr out there?
the hairy nosed dokphin mkg
Ooo, my favorite Mr. Rogers episode was the one about the crayon factory.
dolphin! even... ( molls is feeding me booze tonight )
what hairy nosed dolphin? is there such a creature?
I'M feeding YOU booze? After what you posted earlier, you probably have a still out back.
well the one disappointment was that the theatre where they show the visitors how they make the crayons was not well done. it didnt take it from start to finish. it was better on mr. rogers and seseme street.
Mkg...in + Ave Mar**. It's some sort of whacked out dolphin. In the grids a lot.
in+ 2 vowels mkg
nope... i dont molls :)
i dream of touring the u.s. and visiting all the factories you can visit. but i hope they arent like crayola. it was more a play area for kids.
I would want to be right in the factory, smelling that awesome crayon smell.
got it carleekat. but never heard of it.

*Not speaking to 2Bit after he infected my brain with Dexy's Midnight Runners*
Molly there are more toxic earworms than Come On Eileen, but not many
Yes 2Bit. Alas, I used to work at Music & Arts Center and I know them all. It was evil office game play to infect people with such tunes. I'm sure one guy still hates me for "Precious And Few".
hello, a clue for the dh pls? ty
<----- wants something else yummy and nibbly for a snack
dh + double vowel + 2/3 of a cheer :-)
dh sounds like the woman on star trek

ruru LOL
<--- has teabags all ready
hmmmm...snack... wants...something...
you are soooo bad
I was recently informed that until girlie-in-law gets through two more years of nursing school, there are no babies in my immediate forcast. : ( : (
they'll come soon enought molly..
<----- can appreciate the cuteness of babies..but generally does not like them....much prefer teenagers
I'm the only woman in the pack I run with that can't wait to be a Grandma.
my wife wants to be a grandma.. but we missed a step inbetween.. how'd that happen?
I would prefer a sweet little baby over a hormone ridden, surly teenager any day.
i'll never be one -- my daughter has no intention of ever having a child . . . her longtime boyfriend, on the other hand, would love to have one and has offered to be a househusband
he telecommutes so it would actually work pretty well . . .
I would be happy to wait quite a while to be a grandma, considering how I would get that way.
but they want their freedom and I certainly understand that
I'm thinking of starting an Adopt-A-Grandma business. Kind of like the Big Brothers program. : )
sounds good, molly :-)
Don't give up, une, I never planned to have a kid either but did, finally, at 38.
she's already 34 . . . pretty doubtful
Personally, when I put "freedom" on the scales against all the blessings I have gotten from my kids, freedom loses.
Yr
Oops
2nd se5/10.... help please!!!!!
Yes but until you have a child you have no inkling of the blessings, Molly
se + r**n r**n go away, come again another day
i just. dont enjoy babies ( sorry was pinned by a lap ho5 of a dog and was pinned over <------- there )
I was never a baby person until recently . . .

Hello sapphire4444!How are you? Welcome to the grid

oops sorry all wrong box!!
Hello and welcome sapphire 4444. Don't worry, we all forget to move our cursor from time to time.
haha thanks *blushes*
morning Jac
Hi Lynxxx.
Hey Jac, things any better for you these days?
Hi Molly. Well, we haven't found new jobs yet, and the house nearly flooded tonight, but otherwise we're fine. All in good health, since Other Half's hand has now healed after he accidentally drove a screwdriver through it. :-/
Me and Beloved are off on a pre-booked and paid for holiday for a week in a few hours. So, that's good.
That is good. Time to get away from it all and re-charge your spirits.
Yes.
I'll be back home in the Rhinog mountains in Wales. It'll probably rain most of the time, but the views and the way they make me feel are worth it.
Oh, that sounds like a lovely place to rest and re-group.
morning all :)
oops, slipped into afternoon in last 18 minutes... afternoon all :))
Hello MrP. I loved the pic of your tanned referee knees on FB!
hahaha! it is a shocker!
I assume you also have a tanned 'v' on your neck and arms tanned from just above the shoulder?
I've heard your news, btw, MrP. Fingers crossed for you and all that.x
yep! is funny!
I should get in my bikini and do the whole pic for you
thanks jac... i hope for a pass and this all works out well
That would be a fun pic, MrP.
When will you know where the primary source is, MrP?
Hello mrpresident! How are you? Welcome to the grid.
Oh, speaking of bikinis, that reminds me that I didn't pack any swimwear for my holiday. I'll add that to my note of 'things to do' for later.
hi min
will find out after operation on tuesday jac
my doc is very forward thinking... isn't messing around with tests and bullshyte... just wants to go in, have a good look, repair what needs fixing and get out
then, we can figure out where things have gone wrong
MrP - I may not be on line until next Sunday. I'll have to catch up with your news then, but will keep everything crossed for you.x
she is a bloody good surgeon not to put me though crap tests that I don't want
thanks jac :) ((hugs))
Good for her, and for you, MrP!
I shouldn't be up now - I've been cooking and doing packing like a whirling dervish all of yesterday, and then the saving of the house from flooding, then more packing after the shakes and the tears had subsided after i'd done it, then more packing.
Beloved got home from work just before midnight, went to bed at about 2am and will no doubt be up at 7am to pack the car and want me ready to travel by 8am. In his dreams! No point anyway, since the earliest we can get into the caravan is 3.30pm.
He's still young enough to manage on 4 or 5 hojurs' sleep. Me? I need 8 minimum.
Speaking of sleep, I think I've calmed down enough, and it isn't raining at the moment, to get some rest now. So, unless anyone urgently needs clues within the next 20 mins., I will go to bed.
what is this sleep you speak of?
Hi Crossy - sleep is the state where the body relaxes and the brain switches off enough to let the body lie still and relax. The brain doesn't stop, of course, since it has to keep funtions funtioning, and give us weird dreams etc.
crossy sleeps from midnight till two then from 5 am till 7 am or so
*functions
That's a bummer, crossy!
I often get woken on the hour, every hour, by night sweats. But, if I have a little too much alcohol, I can do at least 4 hours, wake and then another 4 or 5. Not the best solution, though!
ever get the leg aches jacula?
best fix is a long body pillow placed lengthwise tween the knees
When I do sleep well and haven't gone to bed too late, I wake up at a normal time, full of vigour, put a full day in and fall into bed at 10pm.
Crossy - no leg aches yet.
intermittent claudication is a condition I'm all to aware of, Crossy (re your leg aches query). An ex-b/f of mine, who died too young last year, suffered from that in his 40s and 50s.
He was an alcoholic.
Also a smoker.
Stopping both didn't save him.
a good note is i gave up the smokes in 2002
Anyway, as I said. I'm ready for bed now.
See you all in a week's time.x
since i am right in that age bracket,i am taking more care jacula
tc jac
Make sure you do, Crossy. I know how much debris my ex b/f left behind, 2 daughters, 3rd wife etc.
'Bye for now, crossy et al.x
anyone have a hint for re8?
coloured equine
re8 - cowboy's crimson mount.
got it! thanks!
'Night all.
3rd wife?? omg think the first two times would of taught him! lol
lol jk,i have been married to my beloved for 18 years this oct first and she will be the only one for me come what may
tbh,a pretty little 25 year old hottie may turn my head, but she does not stand a chance,my wife had been with me through the highs and the lows, thhrough richer and poor,we have survived cancer times 3,hysterectomies,she has laughed with me and supported me,she has been the rock that i lean on in times of difficulty,i have been the staff to hold her up against the wind..what 25 year old young thing can compete?? she does not stand a chance
but enough drivel;)
could I have help for the O in the middle please? I would like to have NBT today...
or 5/12: may I please take your or*** stidmama and hi

min -- do you need to evacuate? I don't have a clue about NY geography -- how close are you to the coast?
Fortunately,I do not need to evacuate. Not near the coast. Not sure about family who are on Long Island.
we had a tornado touch down in goderitch and london within a week doing massive damage less than one hour from here,we have become sang froid about it as all the wather patterns seemed to have gone crazy
poink for real
101 left; I'm worrying about my friend who lives ONE BLOCK from the manditory evacuation area in NYC..
glad you are in a relatively safe area, Min -- hope the same will be true for your family.
but, wow egbokmom. that is a little too close, if you ask me...
He says there's nowhere to go! Subways shut down.

could someone please give me a hint on the last ar5?

i think it's fitting that the last word I entered when completing my very first Babble puzzle was "hoorahs"!!
Hi folks ... just a pop in to play a bit.
hi everyone -- still a long ways to go here
hi nan. just got down below 50 - fun grid
sapphire, you weren't supposed to put the word in, but congrats anyway (and thanks, was missing those)
origami, hi... apparently you joined OMGPOP via my link? I messaged you on there asking who you are, because I didn't recognize your name. Glad I saw you in here and checked your bio... the mystery is finally solved. ;)

FINISHED! VERY EXCELLENT!
mazel tov, godthaab!
oops sorry, got a little overexcited there! i was just happy to finally finish one. :) anyway good luck everyone, i'm off to bed.

ar 5/18: cupid's weapon
dh 6: rhymes with a character's name (female) on star trek
not all that familiar with star trek
cybernan, the dh word is the same as another word that starts and ends with h; with no h at the end
