my speech pathologist taught me Standard American English, which is a far cry from the Middle Lowland Appalachian that is my native dialect.
I've started a list of pronunciations I hear on TV, such as "corner" for "coroner", "nurshing" for "nourishing", "durble" for "durable", "curnt" for "current" and so on ad nauseam.
And I sent a self-shot video clip of me to a deaf friend on here recently, who was able to accurately lip-read everything I said in it. That amazed me but he said it was easy, because I speak so clearly and pronounce my words well enough for him to see them.
Incidentally, that friend is British, of Spanish-British background. Born and raised in London and still lives there. He's not used to our accents.

Well I'm surprised you even use FB if you're concerned about privacy, because there is no privacy on FB, no matter how 'private' you think you've set your page. Google this term: "view private facebook profiles" and you'll see there are countless pages on the web with scripts that enable any member of the public to view all the contents of any "private" Facebook page. Not so with Google+, that is VERY private.

we've lost most of our bat population these last couple years, in the northeast, due to some fungus. Mosquitos were out of control this summer
in Austin, where my son lives, there are millions ob bats who live under the main bridge in town and it's a big tourist draw.
Although I love bats, I wouldn't be keen on going into caves....

Carlsbad Cave is a very large cave and people wait there until dusk to watch the millions of batsd come out each evening - like a tornado - and then a dark colored river going down into the valley to feed all night on insects

I have an argiope (common European garden spider) in front of the house and I feed her flies
here in WV we do not have huge colonies like that - we do close caves to visitors during the Oct. - May if there are bats hibernating in the cave
evidently, the colonies in New England that live in abandoned mines are having a big problem with whitenose
I've had two come into the house but I couldn't get a good look before I helped them out
New England (I think) is where they first identified the whitenose fungus. If I remember correctly, we (People) are not effected by it but can carry it to other locations, so once it is identified in a cave the cave is closed to visitors.

you can get people who will come and do it for you - make sure they will use live traps
we have birds flying or even walking in from time to time and one big female hawk. I love rescuing them

just as you can make bird houses you can make bat houses that will encourage batds to nest nearby and thus cut down on your insects
since there is a cave above us, we don't need to have a bat house. We have a fishpond, though, and I think they drink from it

We had a rabbit called Dandelion. Woe betide one's arms if you picked him up wrong - those back legs were like JCB jaws. We nicknamed the second rabbit JCB cos he did not mow the lawn - he dug great pits all over it instead and had ideas that Australia was in the flower-beds.
