[Just typoed a word I was entering 2x in a row.]
both of them
neil, feather isn't around?? our game is stalled
I guess not, mrp? She'll see it eventually. I'll try to IM her on AOL... she uses that messenger.
I've been busy this evening, since getting in from a job I had to go out on. The GOP Debate... see bio.
and I am having om6 for dinner tonight... have cravings!
I just visited Belinda... I am now crying... won't let the family see. She is still in there, just not there.
Who, mrp?
((mrp))
Oh, sad, mrp
I did her nails, and gave her a mini facial... brought some vanilla slice over for her (her favourite) and we had tea... I talked, she can't
neil, my friend is dying... has less than a month. Brain cancer got her in the end, and 4 months ago, she was all clear
I'm so sorry to hear that.
Oh no, mrp. :( I'm so sorry to hear this! *hugs*
oh mrp, I'm sure she really appreciated that.
God, that's so fast! :(
mrp, I am so sorry to hear that. You are such a good friend to her
a lot of the meds she is taking allows 1/4 of her body to word... motor movements are gone on the right completely, and since she started on meds to reduce the swelling in the brain, she can talk a little
Yes, second what joey says.
m9... she did, and she won't remember, but I will
she asks me to do something, then forgets in an instant what she wants to ask for
fu** it hurts to see her like that
mrp, what is important that you are there for her. It will really make you feel good to know that you are making her happy. maybe she won't remember but somewhere she will know
I gave her a patch for the pain, massaged the stuff that isn't working anymore... and just smiled and told her stories
ah.. my friend just shthrough this with her mother. Swelling in the brain.. she went from mentally there to being like a little child who didn't recognize her daughter very quickly and then she was gone.
we watched danziel and pascoe and looked out the window
That's so sad, Mary.
she is only 30 friggin 7
It's good that you can be there with her
OMG. That's so young. :(
Only 11 years older than me.
wow
younger than I am!
half way - enough for me -- good night :)
sorry all, i need to take a break. bbs
37, that is just not fair. sorry for making this about me for a moment, but after surviving cancer twice, I appreciate what I have
Ok, mrp. *hugs* again.
night nan
gnight nan
wow.
Has anybody seen the latest "let's fool the guys to raise breast cancer awareness" meme on facebook? Those annoy me so much.
Cancer. Sucks.
They annoy me too, m9...
It sure does, Jellen. As you know only too well. :(
Fool the guys, Mary? WTF?
Oh Neil.. it goes around every year. It's SO stupid. The first one was post your bra color...
Hello everyone, late tonight
hi flosey
Why do they say 'let's fool the guys' though?
Don't get it?
so all of a sudden there were all these statuses being posted: "pink" "black"
It's a chain email sent around to get you to post stupid stuff as your status...For women only...
bet the swim was refreshing Jilli
a female would send a private message to her girlfriends "let's show how POWERFUL we women are by fooling the guys.. post your bra color"
like that's powerful!?!??!
I don't see what that supposed to do, to benefit anyone and increase awareness?
I never got there, flosey -- too much to do, then too late and too tired
then it was shoe size.. and where you leave your purse.....
It doesn't, Neil...that's why it's annoying...
exactly Neil.
How is posting your bra color "fooling" anyone? Sorry but this just isn't making sense.
but the latest is just horrible.
now have seen a lot of...i'm 10 weeks and craving skittles...
What is the latest?
it's your birth week and your favorite snack..
so things like "12 weeks and I'm craving snickers"
Still not making any sense. Stupid.
Glad I don't bother with FB.
people think you are pregnant
I rarely log into my account there. As soon as the rest of my contacts there have moved over to G+, I'm deleting that account and can't wait.
Not all FB is stupid, neil
Yes, that's the impression I received from what Mary's posted here, dart.
each time it starts going around I post something about there being better ways to raise awareness.
FB is a security hazard, jilli. That's why I won't use it. There is no such thing as a "private" FB page no matter how you adjust your settings. Google this phrase: "view private facebook profiles" and you'll find there are countless web pages with scripts enabling any member of the public to view the entire conents of any "private" Facebook page. No thanks!
There's aspects of Facebook that I like.
Contents, even. Typing's gone to hell.
Well no aspects are worth the security risk to me or most people in my personal circles, Mary.
I don't post anything on FB that needs to be private.
exactly jilli
As soon as I learned about that major flaw with FB, I deleted everything in my page and left it to rot, basically.
Exactly! And a social network where I can't post and share anything with my friends is useless.
You don't have the concerns I do.
no. I don't
I guess that's true, neil.
Think yourself lucky then.
But with identity theft being as big a problem as it is these days, everyone should be concerned for their privacy online really.
ok.. I will!
I am.
Who broke the chog? *gets hammer and nails*
I think I must have killed it there.
So I concentrated on killing this grid.
hello everyone
hi west
hi flosey
Hi westford! :)
west, is that you?
in your icon
do you have the lone e in the middle
Whoh else would it be, in her account?
yes flosey it's a little dark
Isn't that one female ovines?
On no it isn't, sorry.
people put all sorts of pictures
Ugh. I'm still trying to learn how to tell which word comes off which tile.
who are you calling a female ovine? lol
Nobody. :P
Hi westford.
haha I thought you meant my picture
hi faux
Read my bio, west. You might get a kick out of my running commentaries on tonight's GOP Debate.
what's the matter neil are you out of sorts
it's the el6
Why would I say that about your photo? No, you don't look very sheepish to me. I could be an ovine though... first half of my surname is a baby one.
I watched it and the analysis afterwards
Why do you say that?
that's right you are a little lamb
Do I seem out of sorts or something? Weird.
thanks m almost missed your post chat is moving so fast
yes you do but that's okay
Why would I seem out of sorts? Please show me what I've said that gives you that impression?
no prob
You said that after I said to you: "Read my bio, west. You might get a kick out of my running commentaries on tonight's GOP Debate." Ok, that would show I'm in a chatty, sociable, friendly mood and I seem "out of sorts" to you? #puzzled
okay, at 1:09 central time you said "so I concentrated on killing this grid
Oh, what I said to flosey maybe? Haha, no. I was teasing... because I didn't realize she meant in your photo and thought she meant whoever was signed into your account.
Yes, that's an expression we use, meaning to tackle and beat it into submission. ;)
Finish it, in other words. :P
oh, I see
I was being grandmotherly and wondered if you were having a bad day
give me a hug
Doubt you'd find me "out of sorts" in here. Not without a good, strong reason anyway.
No!
lol
Not to worry. ;)
not wishing to interrupt, but hi, west, love your blues directions! :)
Besides, I did all my venting earlier while watching the debate. See my bio for all of my running commentary... it gave ruru a good chuckle.
No probs, rbud.
good rbud I thought it was killer
lol neil, but I did have someone do that to me! I was playing bridge and someone entered the table and (I don't understand how) but took over my account and made extremely rude comments as if it was me actually saying them
We loved it too. We have a hilarious post with the funniest comment thread going on G+ because of that. We've all been posting our blues names.
You're kidding, flosey? Wow. If your password was pretty simple and easy to guess, someone probably hacked your account. Always use a password at least 13 characters long, containing both upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols, with not common words in it -- none of it should even make sense to anyone but you. Do that and you'll never get hacked again.
Ok, 10 left and gonna kill these off.
I have since done that, thanks neil - also reported him to yahoo
who can remember all that? I'd never get into any of my accounts again
it was very embarrassing
I don't memorize them. I have a password manager in my browser and obviously, I keep them written down and stored safely.
that used to happen in Tangleword some of these kids are genious hackers
I bet, flosey.
Yes, but a password such as I described never gets hacked. It's what I do with all my accounts now.
I do keep a record of various passwords
I learned, after having my website hacked and all deleted on me, and even my domain name stolen!
Yes, but you need unhackable passwords too.
oh my! that is awful neil
remember honesty and integrity?
some people don't know the meaning of those words west
sadly, yes
Dropping back in to say goodnight...
or should I say, no
Yes, westford... but how many people these days realistically care about, never mind have those qualities? Sadly, not nearly enough.
Exactly, flosey.
Hi again and good night, Jellen.
Sweet dreams!
goodnight Jellen hope your date goes well
goodnight Jellen, sweet dreams
I think those of us who do are in a real minority.
Thanks!
am afraid that is shamefully true neil
back from kitchen cleanup
anyone have the second te7?
sorry pigeonman, no te words yet
but needing banana and milk, then bed, I think. Too tired for this -- goodnight all
goodnight jilli
Good night jilli... take care.
goodnight jilli I was just reading neil's play by play of the debate
you pretty much nailed it
Haha, I had to paraphrase what they were all saying, westford. Couldn't resist.
I would have chosen Huntsman as the 'winner' but the Rachel analysts gave it to Romney
The simple, basic, easier to understand version. What they were each REALLY saying.
Yes. I like him.
When you see me post "RT @name" that means I'm retweeting a tweet someone else posted on Twitter.
Clues for the last te7 PLEASE? That's my last word for fireworks
Clues for the last te7 PLEASE? That's my last word for fireworks
Like "RT @LOLGOP: blah blah blah".
maybe it's a frozen bagel you give to a baby wiht sore gums?
And I have 1 word left... a "T" word that I'm just not finding. Ugh.
*with
that's the only te7 I have
I have it now too, thanks west
Or a rubber pacifier ring.
tx west!
you understood flosey ? it's a mother thing lol
Something for a baby human or puppy, kitten etc. to chew on during a certain phase.
Go Neazle!
Even I understood!
frozen bagels work wonders
I'm trying, Poundcake!
that's the first te7. Need the last.
sorry pige
te7 (the last) is te + consonant + past tense of what you do on a horse (the cowboy ro4 into the sunset)
Yes, westford. We always had bagels in the house of course. They would be soothing on the gums.
that was it. fireworks. thanks so much
it's some sort of vacuum tube
yay, pigeonman!!!
Yay pigeon !!!
this grid was WAAAYYYYY easier than yesterdays
and thanks rbud
tx rbud
you're not kidding
thanks neil
neil, I googled your father he is an extraordinary poet
Found it and fireworks!
He is pretty good, yes.
wtg neil
he's better than good
Yay neil !! what was your last word?
back again -- read your profile, neil -- I watched MSNBC too -- Huntsman is way ahead imho. Did you see him on Jon Stewart, speaking fluent Mandarin? Too bad he has some Republican ideas.
Yay Neazle!
My "stepmom" [his girlfriend/domestic partner] is a published author.
You'll laugh. I didn't list, so I didn't see what I had to find... I use the tile and word stats and for some reason, somehow, I totally missed the last tw4,8.
A silly little word like that? I finally saw it.
I didn't have it but now I do !
far from finished though
Bye again
will your father's gf be your muse and help you finish your book, neil?
Yes, jilli. I really like him... he actually qualified to be president and therefore, as Seain commented earlier, the Republicans will never nominate him.
Hopefully not, westford. It's something I need to do all on my own.
They just seem to ignore him -- too bad.
how about a Palin/Bachman ticket?
Ugh!
Exactly. He makes too much sense.
Bigger ugh!
a dream come true for Democrats
To paraphrase Lincoln (I think) -- God must love ignorant people -- he made so many of them.
If only.
I think sadly, you may be right jilli.
What bugs me is that they CHOOSE to be ignorant and sneer at knowledge.
Yes, exactly.
As long as I live I'll never understand how anyone could be willfully ignorant.
ignorance is sometimes curable, unfortunately stupidity is not...
And then some who should know better dumb down and pander to them
but rbud, they resist cure.
No it isn't, most unfortunately.
I can't forgive Anderson Cooper, a Yale grad and son of Gloria Vanderbilt and a good writer, for talking about people "laying" by the roadside in Haiti.
I can't "dumb down" for or to anyone. It would probably serve me better to sometimes but it's something I find impossible to do.
Good, neil.
Oh, that's a common mistake I see people making... so common in fact, I think it's pretty accepted and people don't even notice it so much now. I'd ask "What were you laying, eggs or a carpet?"
Me too, but I will NOT accept it.
Grammar nazi? ;)
It's deliberate ignorance.
Or is that grammar police?
Oh yes, grammar nazi.
No it isn't in every case. Some people don't realize it's incorrect.
Because they see and hear it so much.
We get TV anchors and such using it -- they whould be setting an example, but that's out of fashion, I think.
If everyone around you is using it, you may think it's correct... a lot of people don't know.
*should
Oh probably.
But they probably don't realize it either.
I guess the networks need to hire grammar police... might be helpful.
Definitely.
I had to study advanced English courses in college. I majored in Political Science and my minor was journalism. Ended up a journalist/photographer and vert part-time political writer. Go figure?
Well, I've said my piece for today and should head for bed again, lol!
I've always enjoyed writing though.
Again? You headed there already tonight and didn't make it?
there are no age differences in Babble and I love that
Very, not vert. That's my exhaustion typing for me.
I majored in Bacteriology and Biochemisty and ended up doing pastel portraits of children.
yet another aspect of Jilli
That was because I was a 50s stay-at-home housewife
but think of all you have done..where is that best seller?
yes, neil -- headed for bed, had a banana and milk and came back here
in somebody else's brain, west
good morning
hello ruby
still hoping you'll write it jilli
hi ruby
I've been worried about your son and his wife
west, now that I have a best-selling author as a neighbour and I see how hard he works I also see how daunting it is.
{{jilli}} and thank you, westford
maybe you and your grandson can collaborate
what news ruby?
've been obsessing about it, but we keep talking or mailing and he and his wife have a fire contingency plan, what they wilkl put in which car and where they will go....
Don't worry about them, west. They'll muddle through. I'm stealing my son and taking him with me to Australia to meet mrp and some cousins of mine. Porbably in March.
so far, the fires are about 5 miles away, on the other side of Austin
Oh -- you were talking about ruby's son -- sorry!
jilli how wonderful that you are going to Australia..I really have been out of the loop
the problem is that his house is above a ravine in which the stream that runs through is totally dry and the trees are so much tinder
the problem is that his house is above a ravine in which the stream that runs through is totally dry and the trees are so much tinder
ruby to hear them tell it on the news all of Austin is in flames
I see there's plenty to worry about in Texas.
lol babble crossover..I was talking about your grandson too jilli he's quite a good writer from what I've read
I haven't talked to him since Tuesday....no news from him this AM
I is making me sick
Oh, you're an artist, jilli? See you're still not in bed. ;)
hi neil
Going to bed now with fingers crossed for Ruby's family...*poof
Hi rubyfoo.
ty jilli
neil -- I did a course in commercial art after university.
good night jilli and sweetest dreams
thanks west -- *repoof (hard to leave here!)
I see, jilli... if you're still here.
[been busy answering some email]
I'm on hold with bad, broken-up music
sounds like the blues ruby
hi again neil
trying to get ducks in a row for husband's court case on Monday -- will it never be over?
ever*
I sure hope they throw the book at the dog's owner ruby
I'm trying to remember how long ago it happened
he was found guilty and had to pay ONLY 450 euros! This hearing is for damages, but we will be lucky if we recover expenses and lawyer's fees....and, hopefully, they will put the dog down. Imagine, after a year, the dog is still alive! That would never happen in the US!
it was 30 July last year
hello again, took a break
I have to go and get dressed, will see you later, westofrd (and neil?)
hi flosey
hello and bye flosey
that's ford***
bye ruby come back soon
oh Ruby, sorry to hear that court case is dragging on so long, very frustrating
and husband is getting worse and worse, increasingly irritable and very frail
I still get chills thinking about the dog actually eating the flesh and the owner doing nothing
poor hubby, ruby, under those situations I can't see how he can help but be very angry, irritable - very hard on you
I just got the 9 listless
wet west
that's a good way to describe it flosey lol
oops, sorry west, working on the w's
that's okay I had a little giggle there
we did that today - was quite hot here, especially if you're running around
cold and rainy here I stayed in
I decided to stay for the week and all I have are summer clothes
that's Maine for you
was running around a bit to find a going away gift for the daughter of friends who is going away to college in Hawaii - only child, and going so far!
oh but how joyful for her..I wonder if she'll get any studying done
I'll bet her parents are already planning a trip out there
or are they going with her to get her settled
of course, she's a bright young lady, very sweet, open, a great pride for her parents, but will be empty nest!
no, they
it's hard
they
they'll take her to airport
would be quite costly to take her there
that's for sure
different if you could drive them
I wouldn't recommend it lol
did you find a present for her?
yes, we have a lovely jewellery store here, bought a pair of pearl earrings, and they put them in the prettiest box with a tiny gift bag/card
oh that's perfect
I tested mom out before purchase, she suggested pearl
**suggested, or agreed, can't remember
pearls can be dressed up or down
that's our Megan's birthstone
speaking of grandchildren how is William? Have you seen him lately?
true - very similar as the ones I wore on my wedding day (given to me by an old friend I had gone out with - strickly frendship)
I haven't seen him for a while
he was jabbering away one day so Sandy called and tried to get him to speak to me - nothing!
he hears a voice speaking to him and doesn't get it
isn't that always the way?
yes, unfortunately
we have been doing face time on our iphones with our 2 youngest
they are 5 and 8 now
it isn't really convenient to go over just now, just hoping they'll get over here soon
you had such a good time with both grandsons
yes, Nathan was very eager to meet William, his only cousin on his Dad's side
likewise with William's parents
so nice they could all come out
is Nathan already making plans to come by himself?
Nathan was talking about possibility of coming out next year and was happy when I suggested he bring a friend
they'd have a better time together
perfect solution
will you be going in October?
we'd rent them guitars so they could jam a bit - keep up their lessons
that will be great
yes, not sure just when, depends on when the apples here need to be picked! Busy time here.
how did the crop do this year?
as long as the apples are picked and stored, they can juice them when we come home
hopefully better than last, looks good - maybe this heat will ripen them sooner
are they all cider apples?
oh no, we have a stone storehouse built into the hill, keep lots there, have juiced close to 100 L
don't make cider, we freeze the juice
wow
do you ever sell any of it or just give it away?
we still have a time-share back there, thinking of spending a few days up at Thornbury on Georgian Bay
isn't that where crossy is?
we don't sell it, do give some away
yes, up past him
back again, 114 words earlier.
back again, 114 words earlier.
maybe you can stop in for one of his breakfasts lol
How are you, flosey
hi again ruby
we all need to go to crossy's for breakfast!
would be nice to see him - even if just for a coffee
great thanks ruby
we pretty much avoid bacon
I'd like to try his french toast
home-made apple juice, wonderful!
we have apples, but they're wormy because we can't use insecticide because of the pups
our granddaughter and her boyfriend came up to visit and she had an "I love bacon" bumper sticker on her car
aaah, French toast (or, as the French say, pain perdu)
we don't use any insecticides west
how do you prevent the worms?
all natural, organic
don't seem to be too bothered with them
We've always avoided it, flosey. Which goes without saying.
worms are the only thing I'm afraid of....
hate worms
but the little guys have to eat too
so you eat organically, neil?
Oh I'd be more afraid of a Burmese python. Google it... nasty things.
don't laugh - I have a ridiculous fear of snakes - this seems to be the year for them
As much as I can, yes. But that's not the main reason. ✡
I don't mind snakes, spiders, bats, anything, just dopy little worms
Even worse than worms: maggots.
ah yes, hubby taught at a school in Ontario that was probably 75% jewish - it was considered the 'tough school'
was a joy to teach there
I think we all have irrational fears....
maggots --eeeewww
but Burmese pythons, coming from Florida, the idea is really interesting but I don't think they're a danger to people as much as to the environment of the Everglades
when my brother was playing golf in Florida, he was warned to forget a ball if it went into the rough!
he actually saw aligators on the golf course
yes
big ones?
he didn't say how big, it didn'
t keep him from playing
people can't let their little dogs out because many of the new communities have lakes in which alligators live (like golf courses, too)
sorry, everytime I hit the apostrople i also hit enter - you'd think my little finger was a thumb
but I think the pythons are so big that they eat alligators. They are farther into the swamp, though
(I know the feeling, flosey)
I still have 102 words to find! but I better get to bed, at least I'll have time tomorrow
bye flosey. don't dream of alligators or snakes!
can't promise but am sure it would wake me
goodnight now
good night flosey I had to get a piece of apple pie
hot apple pie with sweet cream!
with a slice of cheddar
when I was a little girl, after my father would close the store in summer, we would drive to Sheepshead Bay to Lundy's and have steamed clams and hot apple pie
mmmm
not ofte, only occasionally
Are you a good baker, westford?
our ex bil is from there
not really our oldest daughter got the baking gene from hubby's mother
I make a mean eclair though
I could never make a proper crust (I think you need Crisco) so make French tarts instead
do the eclairs use popover dough?
not really..no milk
yorkshire pudding does
haven't had an eclair since I was a kid!
husband doesn't eat sweets, so I've lost my baking ambition
it's the stirring the flour into the melted butter a bit at a time
mine would eat any and all sweets and he's pretty much the same size he was when we got married...I hate him
do you bake bread?
no but I want to start
my husband has gotten so skinny that I wish he would eat sweets, but he refuses
I have a nice stand mixer with a dough hook
maybe you could tempt him with some hot cinnamon rolls right out of the oven
can't you just smell them now?
I have a great bread trick: buy Bridgeford frozen white bread, thaw it out, make it into long pieces and braid them. Then let rise, then sprinkle with olive oil and sea salt. Friends will think you made it from scratch and it's splendid
Oh ruby that sounds scrumptious
I used to make it for company and they were always knocked out and it's so easy!
can't get it here, though, and local bread is tasteless
oh I thought French bread was the best
it's a myth (or a bubamisa as my mother would have said)
{sp?]
doesn't have much in it..we grew up on Jewish rye bread
I was baking bread here but husband isn't interested
<-- loves rye bread
bake it for yourself then
and give some to Luisa
hahah, good idea!
is she still a gem?
she is wonderful and sings while she works!
I am so lucky
what a ray of sunshine
and this house gets VERY dirty
are the dogs shedding now?
do you have the center e? I have 122 words and no nbt or 9
it's el 6/21
and the 9 is sw 9/84 what you did when it was really really hot and humid
they are always shedding and Ruby's favorite spot is in the dirt, under a big shrujb
must feel nice and cool to her
thank you, the sw gave me 3 words
you're welcome gave me 3 too
actually keep going
sending monkeys to look for the el6
ends in od 4/5
ahah, I was going in the wrong direction, wrong od!
thank you
so nbt and nbs for ruby?
smiling!
it is lovely that you're online
wtg !!
I seem to miss you most days
usually, by now, I am making an apero for DH. He is having a haircut, so I have time to myself
isn't that nice ?
I'm up in Maine by myself with 2 cats it's nice
except for the weather
are the insects horrible?
the mosquitos are vicious
all this rain
I've only been in Maine once or twice, never even spent a night there!
that's what I've heard, and black flies?
I would think the cold would wipe them out
black flies are a Spring thing
do you have a house up there?
yes we do just a little place in Ogunquit
about a 10 minute walk to the beach
how lovely!
we lost power during Irene so after sitting in RI in the dark for 2 days we headed up here
I miss the warm ocean in Miami. The lake here is much too cold to ever go in
the water here is freezing too but I like walking on the beach
DH left yesterday and it's been pouring since
I know what you mean about the warm ocean water in FL
do you find interesting shells, rocks and/or driftwood? bottles with messages?
not really they keep the beaches really clean
and we have piping plovers that nest so we can't have fireworks anymore
we have a tidal river though and the water there is nice to swim in
I'll look them up in my bird book
half!
with all the hurricanes swirling around I'd love to get down to the beach to see the waves
good job !!
evening babbler friends :)
after storms in Miami, there were always wonderful shells on the beach
hi there mrp
{{mrp}}
how is your knee today mrp?

hi west :) hi ruby :))
ruby left to be bartender
i just got a phone call from a friend who left Sydney in 2006!! She is in Sydney now and wants to see me. I have invited her over for lunch. I remember all the fond memories
I am always a bartender! LOL
isn't that nice? when old friends get together it's like they never were apart
oh she is the nicest lady!!
is she just visiting or back for good?
she lives in another state now, but I am chuffed that she contacted me!
We looked at buying her home, but decided against it cause of the room
mrp jilli told me tonight that she's going out to see you..how great is that?
she divorced her husband only on 2007
not enough or too much room?
oh west! I can't wait!! I am planning the best homewarming party for her, and she doesn't know it! so ssshhhhh
not enough room... we need room... (high ceilings) cause we are all over 6 foot
oh she will be thrilled
well, she won't know!
have you heard anything more about coming to our neck of the woods?
not yet west
you mentioned Lexington and my husband's company is one town over
I am determined to come over... and have made a promise to my child... so it will happen
I hope you can
if there is one thing you can guarantee from me, it is I keep my promises
it's a really nice area
you would all have a blast with lickety and I... we would have to plan a huge party!
we'd come for sure
it would be brilliant!
we live about an hour away now and he telecommutes but that's our old hunting ground
luv haunting grounds! LOL
how often would lickety be coming our way ( you too )
tomorrow is feed your family friday... any hints??
fish
he would come every 3 months... I would come with him
yes fish... we are RC
that's great..long trip though
not a rule anymore but I have fish every chance I get
had lobster on Sunday
stop in LA.... visit friends on the coastline... then stop offs in arizona, pennselvania, and then the eastcoast buddies
fish is my food
we'll have perfect weather for you too.. knock on wood
lickety is making chicken tonight... but that is because the kids luv it
he allegedly found chicken schnitzel!
sounds good
wherever we go, we bring good weather... is well documented for 15 years
can't go wrong then lol
our oldest daughter just moved to Seattle where it always rains and it's been sunshine since she got there
and we're having the rain
I would like to have a special evening for lickety... just for 5 minutes... where he is given some congratulatory thanks for babble expert. He is genius and nerd all in one, so would luv to do that for him
that would be so cool..like a testimonial
but, i want to have a get together with babble buddies so we all get to meet and greet and have a great meal!
don't know what we would do without him
ooooh a testimonial! people get up and talk??
ok, we have to plan this... he would die!!
yes wouldn't that be a kick?
hopefully not for real!!! but would be great for him... he needs a boost.
Looking after me, the kids, the whole shite and shamozzle!! he needs to be congratulated
I can imagine with everything you both have been through
and babble people worldwide are thankful, we know that.
ok, have to go have dinner with my darling family... bbs xox to you west! PS, spread the word... babble party in NY! TBA
maybe we could get Dr God to show up
okay I will enjoy your dinner
MrMP, re your post at 4:42...he sounds like a fantastic person, tell him I'll kiss his A...LOL

Another day of rain and clouds today.
hi, molly and annie! getting my day started so I will be intermittent...
please send the rain to TX; I am getting very worried
good morning, uusue
intermittent sue mixed with rain and rays of sunshine!
I can't believe this tropical storm evaded them and is giving us so much rain. It seems unfair.
the good news that I am holding onto is that my husband has not had a heart attack.
very good news, angel
oh, that is very good, angel! and hopefully this will mean they have prevented one!
that is definitely good news, angel!
and there is that ray of "sueshine@
In a short span of time, it was raining and windy and now the rain has stopped and the sun is out
I just tried to get an update from Austin news about the fires, but couldn't find anything much
ruby, How is your son re: the drought and the fires
kje, How are you doing?
he and his wife have an evacuation plan (what to take, cars, etc.) but the fires are on the other side of town from him. He is close to downtown which I guess is a good thing
ruby, every bit of good news is reassuring
the problem is the Barton Creek ravine which is behind his house, full of trees and bone-dry
I am worried sick
ruby, have you heard from him?
oh, that's right, Ruby, I forgot your son was in Texas! it is such a small world now...hope the fires stay away from him!!
yes, we spoke on Tuesday and he was very calm and told me their plans
there are fires around Austin, but I thing not yet in Travis County or Austin proper
ruby, try to stay calm...they have a plan and they probably will not be affected
Ruby, you can get a current map here: http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/
ruby, it looks like the worst is in Bastrop, 30 miles outside Austin . . .
thank you, I'll go to that website
i have cousins in Austin . . . with a ranch . . . have been thinkng about the animals as well as the people . . .

ty urshy got it
hurshy even
can I get a clue for the first re 6/18 ?
my sister is funny, she's having mouse problems and she posted this morning that the cheese was gone from the trap but there was no mouse in its place
lol tell her to use peanut butter instead
i did
she's the one of the three of us with no pets... this is making her contemplate getting a cat
or a cat
i love my cats so in one way i recommended it but i am also hesitant about the idea of someone getting a cat just for the mouse problem, if they don't REALLY want a cat.
true, I wouldn't get one just for that purpose
re 6/18 to give in, or re + loaned someone money
hursh, tell her to put a dab of raw bacon in the trap, you can thread it right to the pin on the trap and have a higher chance of mice captures
at one time I had 2 cats and a dog, am now down to one cat and he is a mouser
is bacon your answer to EVERYTHING?!?!
or put down a live trap and get several a night
thank you ! Luv
bacon is wonderous is it not?
yw Annie
I luvvvvvvv bacon
but serously mice, racoons and skunks go nuts over bacon and are best for live trap
second best is a bit of peanut butter
in one of our earlier places,we had a cat that was a mouser but i got tired of finding grisly diembowled presents on my pillows on the bead
disembowled*
Me too seasray..bacon is yummy
horray for bacon!,..there,got it out of my system, now it is safe for carlee to come in
Boo passes around bacon and eggs for all
my cat likes to present his victims at my kitchen door in the garage...mice, birds, and one time a RAT...My daughter and I bothe screamed as we were afraid it was alive....guess he caught that one in the corn field
and i am not sure but i think it is scrabbys b-day today
yep
got the 9:))
NBS for crossy, just a few more e,s for nbt
Good morning... I think. It's morning, anyway.
howdy neil
Can you clue it for me Cross
Eww, crossy... on your BED? Yuck!
to be very hot
Cats probably thought they were leaving you a real treasure, too.
real treat is missing it and laying your head in warm ,sticky mouse innards
You've actually done that?
so we kept the door closed after that
I would freak... and have to thoroughly wash and disinfect myself!
on the bright side, you can relate slightly more when you watch that scene from the beginning of empire strikes back
well,we needed the cat,we were in a old farm house right up against fields of wheat and it got so bad that one morning as i was putting tea on,i walked over to the toaster and was about to put some bread in it,when a mouse stuck his head up out of one of the toaster slots
never seen the movie
never seen...!\
dude you need to watch star wars pronto.
tbh the entire line of star wars movies just does not do it for me
Oh geez, crossy... that IS bad!
I take it you probably didn't use THAT toaster again?
?!?!!?!?!?!!!
oh yes,just cleaned it well
if i tossed everything that a mouse had been in or on,the house would of been empty
You could clean the inside of it well enough? A regular toaster, you can't open to get into the slots.
Man. Your home was infested!
90% of toasters the entire bottom swings open
and older ones the sides open right up
Yes, but the slots are still too narrow to get into to clean... I find.
Unless it's a camp toaster or toaster oven.
and remember, heat sterilizes, just make sure there is no poop or mouse bodies in there when you fire it up
*cringe*
You'd have roast mice.
Might be a delicacy... for the cat.
and we had the biggest collection of kitchen cannisters hehe,EVERYTHING that was a dry food product went into cannisters
everythign was sealed in tin, glass or cans
Oh yeah. You would've had to seal everything in jars, cannisters, etc.
Haha, snap.
a box of cerial under the cupboard would not have lasted the night
No shit.
You'd have to seal everything and keep the place so clean that the mice wouldn't smell anything edible to attract them.
yoou got it,and find as many entry places as you can
Must've been real fun trying to keep your garbage sealed up in the kitchen?
Yes, and block them up.
you could not even leave dirty dishes till next morning.once i had a 3 plates and a glass or 2 had it in water to wash, forgot about it and woke up to cold dirty dishes with 2 dead mice floating in there with them
the garbage was easy, they make good cans for that now
Oh how gross!
Well yes, true enough.
and slowly,eventually we won
What a battle!
Sounds like you needed a few hungry barn cats.
morning kids
2 cats on duty at all times and a kitchen full of cannisters and fine mesh wire all round the house 2 feet up the wall
howdy jes
Morning, Jes!
Wow, crossy.
lol, never had such a clean house before or since
I bet!
It's nice to have a really clean place though.
guests used to look at us funny,we would put out a plate of snack to go with tea,and the SECOND they were done it would be washed and in the cupboard and every stray crumb cleaned off the floor
Of course, you'd have to.
I am unsatisfied with the tagline for my clinic on our website. got any suggestions on condensing the idea of "I'll work on damn near anything except primates, large carnivores, and venomous snakes. Yes we do large animal, exotics, and livestock, and would you like a farm call with that?" into something catchy and simple?
oh and all cutlery was in a closable tupperware container cause you get tired of mouse poop in yer tea spoons fast
give me you site addy jes
I have a python you could borrow, crossy. He can get down into the holes the cats can't.
chewelahveterinaryclinic.com
jes: "all creatures cross our paths"
ok,i shall think on a good tag line for you jes
i do not think the mrs will go for the python
any suggestions on making the site better and/or things to add to frequently asked questions are welcome too :)
clue for the center e?
my last e
right up my alley jes, just give me a bit to go over it
no clue kje
was wondering about the strange name, now i see it is the town itself lol
you do camels and alpachas??!
once she gets over the hump ..welll yes crossy she does
lol, guess everything is the same when you are up to your shoulder inside of it
We do camelids, yes. don't get much call for actual camels, i think there are only 2 in the county
sorting out a tangle of feet and heads
Oh, the puns, ruru. It is WAY too early in the morning for the puns! *groan*
Used to have a client that raised yaks, but he switched to cattle a couple years back.
we have a llama farm here
and there is one i know that had a bison or 2
i have a llama farm neighbor- kinda
not right net door
they are kinda mean
You have llamas, crossy?
Clue for at 8 please
the llamas, kje? i've met some nice ones, but lots more that'd just as soon have nothing to do with me.
Oops meant al8
at 8 is impossibe
even the grumpy llamas are nowhere near as snakeyambushyoumean as alpacas are though.
will look boo... have a 7 but not an 8 yet
boo - most awake
What do you need, kje?
Any 8?
was answering boo, nn... don't need any
Oh sorry.
Just trying to be helpful. :/
jes?
no prob
jes,i have a rough draft for you to look at if you are there
yes, i'm here crossy
quality care for a wide variety of animals- at chewelah veteinary clinic we can handle all you household and commercial pet needs. our team of 4 vets have the experience to help you with any regular pet care needs as well as emergency consultaions here in our office or at your farm
but only for about 2 seconds, i think my appointment just walked in the door.
commerical animal*
Ty
fancy. i think i can work with that. thanks :)
the "wide variety of animals" part of the first line has been kinda bugging me though, ever since i put it up there...
ill clean it up a bit and show you second draft when you get back
wondering if "variety of species" or something else would be better?
not done yet, just giving you the gisdt
gist
that way you get client imput..but not too much of it! lol
have a second draft if you are still there jes
Selection of species would be another alternative Jes.
oh, this is so cool, just hopped in from another forum where we were discussing "knowledge communities" and here I am with people who know how to give advice about a vet clinic - you guys are great!
lol all in a days work mam;))
still no middle e???
quality care for a wide variety of animals- at chewelah veteinary clinic we can handle all you household pet and commercial animal needs.our staff can handle most native or exotic species. our team of 4 vets have the experience to help you with any regular pet care needs as well as emergency consultaions here in our office or at your farm or business. Mid eis el6/21 - a plant
aquatic plant used in fish tanks
ty hoot!
lol always say most, not all exotics, cause sure as crap someone will walk in with a baby dolphin if you do or a emu lol
yw!
Middle e...el + vowel + a D***r John Letter
Sounds good crossy
someone would walk in with a dolphin on porpoise.
ty molly
just need an e from the one that has 3 words to go with it
i'd work on an emu though, crossy :)
did you see my second draft?
Hi ruru!
and i don't think it's legal to keep dolphins as pets :P
quality care for a wide variety of animals- at chewelah veteinary clinic we can handle all you household pet and commercial animal needs.our staff can handle most native or exotic species. our team of 4 vets have the experience to help you with any regular pet care needs as well as emergency consultaions here in our office or at your farm or business. Ummm no. I'd assume not, Jes.
I like it ;)
evening all
now all it needs,is a go over for structure, but you can do that when you add it to your site jes:)
'course, it's not legal to keep any wild-caught native critter, and i still work on them, so who knows? if i lived closer to the ocean, i probably would have to learn some marine mammal
howdy sprite
hi sprite
hi sprite!
Morning sprite.
Hi Sprite
I'm on European time, today, already tired - I got up at 4:30 a.m. to watch a live transmission of a local festival from my Sicilian "home town" - so cool, but so early for me!
:) How are you all and how is the grid today?
The grid was fine... did it last night at flip.
Slow
grid is big, sprite. but i haven't worked at it long enough to know how much is easy and how much tricksome
ah good, I can do with a good one
he 6/21 ??
It's kind of challenging, but not overly so... just about right.
so,toss that at yer partners and see what they think jes
sounds good to me
will do, crossy, thanks!
anytime:)
No "K" words. ;)
wife says i have the gift of gab,i can sell ice cubes to eskimos lol
:D
any clue for st6 after the thick soup and before the roadway?
heh. i haven't ever tried that crossy. usually my persuasion runs more towards logical reasons why someone should do something
nevermind...got it
hi there all! :)
many do not think logically, more with the heart or the bank balance
hi louuol
how do lou?
Hi louuol. That's a different name?
not too bad thanks crosshair
Which he6/21, sammy?
Still here, ruru?
well its just my name forwardsand back, nothing special.lol
Oh, of course. Duh! I'm still not very awake.
hi lou
yeah. i'm entirely too logical sometimes to really grasp other people's actions.
just back neil.. I'm working and trying to get words done before I head to SF for the day
he6/21...short for a person who digs the opposite sex...mix it up a little for the other he6/21
neillien. That has a certain "ring" to it I guess?
ruruurur?
Oh, ruru... check my bio again for "5:58 PM". Added a little note/explanation in parentheses.
[figured I should explain why I'd said that]
Haha, works well with your player name. Probably not so well with mine: negativeneillienevitagen.
Of course that wasn't your full player name either.
what is gardesil>?
"Vitagen". Ok, that sounds like a product name.
*headdesk* why? why do people do this?!? here's a prime example of not understanding other people, crossy. woman on the phone RIGHT NOW wants to know if we can vaccinate her puppy for parvo, because it's not feeling well and has diarrhea and hasn't had any vaccinations.
lol neil
Oh my god, jes? :( LAST thing that should be done!
jes, somebody like that probably doesn't even understand herself *facepalm*
Some people clearly have no understanding of how vaccines even work. Geez.
vaccines are not a cure! they're a preventative! if the dog already has it, it's not going to help to vaccinate it now. NOW she's looking at several hundred dollars treatment and the possibility of a dead dog.
goog grief
good
No shit. *headsplode*
:(
the logical thing to do would have been to buy the vaccines from the feed store at $10 a pop, spend $40 on the whole series, and not HAVE this problem.
they always try to close the barn door after the horse has already left lol
I really hope what her puppy has isn't parvo. :(
or if she can't afford THAT, then don't get a freaking unvaccinated puppy in the first place. bah.
and the worst is, if the dog dies, she will say it is your fault for not vaccinating it when she asked...
No kidding. Sounds like she shouldn't have a dog for a few reasons... the least of which isn't her lack of knowledge about them. :(
yup,or when they try to self medicate for weeks and only seek a vets help when when the poor creature is at deaths door, the vet just touches it and it dies
who protects dogs from stupid people...
heh. got one of those a while back, crossy. dog had been sick for FIVE MONTHS before they brought it in. when they brought her in, she was so weak she couldn't even stand up.
yup,typical
and when she died the next day, the woman had a freaking fit and threatened to "sue the building out from under" me. NO concept whatsoever of any personal blame.
omg... so sad. How can anyone take in a dog and not caring about it? I will never understand.
Sorry ruru... just scrolled back and saw your question. Gardasil [i misspelled it and will correct that] is the vaccine for HPV.
same reason people keep puppy mills going.ignorance and not planning that you have a amnimal for life here, not some throw away toy
I dunno sprite.
makes no sense to me to take on responsibility for something you don't care about. also makes no sense to me to shirk responsibility once taken.
I second that
All corrected now.
we have 2 rescued cats atmand they are a joy.but people have to have that "custom" pet and the mills will keep churning them out at all costs..do not get me wrong ,there are reputable breeders out there as well
en 6/18?
A meal course, ruru.
yeah, but the reputable breeder is a sadly endangered species, crossy
Clue for the last de 4/5

i'm still laughing at some of those tweets neil..
afternoon babblers!
ah. no fun, run
ruru
hey EvaN
how are we this rainy, drizzly day?
cold and backachey but otherwise ok... and you?
hi eva
Good..it has been overcast here for three days.. No sun
If you want more fun - go to Yahoo news crawl. There is an AP story comparing Romney and Perry. Pretty much destroys them!
wishing for some rain, eva! supposed to be about 95 degrees today
hi hoot
hi sprite
actually - HI EVERYONE
Eva, I passed on your squash soup recipe to a friend who is trying to use up an overabundance of squash in her garden.
I never watch those debates..they are stupid
eh, ok. this weather always makes me feel "meh" not to mention that im supposed to work late today and we were awakened at 3:45 this morning by someone laying on their car horn. and i mean LAYING on it. for like 10-15 minutes. (maybe longer, but by then, hubby turned on the AC unit to drown out the noise + lull us back to sleep)
:)
excellent, molly. i am having some now. :)
I didn't - but the read was worth it. Especially after Neils comments
very antisocial, EvaN :(
phantom: element
at first we assumed someones car alarm had gone off, but it wasnt that -- alarms usually do the on-off-on-off thing. this was like someone literally just held it down for 10 minutes. never heard anything like it!
maybe a short?
If it's been raining might have been a short!
Phantom: eastery
maybe. but it went on FOR-EV-ER. so loud at 3:45am!
:(
i was actually whimpering. so tired...
You have to find the wires to stop it - no fun and not easy at 3am and raining
And I'm not making excuses. Just info
a very bad start of the day
lethe
did you call the police to have them check it out, eva?
good one
dam
:)
o.m.g., neil I was reading your playbyplay and coffee came out my nose I was laughing so hard.
(wipes off keyboard)3tjqhn['GBEHB
jes, no we didnt. once hubby turned on the AC unit, we went back to sleep. it had stopped by 6am, when my alarm went off...
Lol jbp
hi all, have me8 and st8, help with others pls
howdy peri
sa8 compound what makes a woodcutting tool dangerous
al8...most aware/awake
hey crossy I have a questions for you.
te8 tied his horse to a pole
anyone have the se7/36
Oh thanks, jbp! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
re8...past tense of to give an exam again
se7/36...a place where marine mammals are kept
crossy dear, are you here?
nm
if I tw****d, I would prolly have already found you
The act of se6,18?
I found it
ty got them all
ru, and the sometimes vowel to the se6
Oh sorry! Saw that wrong.
i am indeed peri
peri
mm a hiccup
Ugh. Never mind... I should give up even trying to give clues. I'm lousy at it this morning.
st8...the past tense of to play music through speakers
[not awake]
the handle on one of the toilets is loose, I heard someething clink. I opened the top but not sure where to connect the handle. Also there is a shelf right above the top of the toilet which makes it impossible to look directly in
Peri, the chain probably broke.
nope.. I do need help on the first se 7/36
aargh, not a broken chain. I don't know. could be
the act of closing, ruru
a **** bounces a ball on it's nose + you are v*** welcome
thank you
actually more like the se** on a letter
Peri I have that same shelf over the toilet set up in one of my bathrooms and it's annoying
ok pero..on most handles, inside the tank you will find a metal or plastic retaining nut, this threads in reverse, make sure it is tight, then there will be a chan that goes from the flange to the handle, make sure this is attached
think you are right olly.looked in another one of the toilets and there3 is a chain there and none in the one that is not working
wow. my S-I-L just posted a photo from what is usually her route home from work. roads are so flooded, people are KAYAKING on them.
chain
wow EvaN
no chain . must tell my sister bbl
there has to be something connecting the handle with the flange that holds the water in the tank
Eva I'm not surprised. We are at critical mass with flooding around here.
there are those all in one toilet innard kits but they have a metal rod that connects as well
fireflies. Back to bed, bye all, thanks for the company.
hi again, all! class is done for the day...
howdy sue

Sue, I thought your joke about lo 5/22 was cute. I can't believe that is really a word.
unfortunately, a beautifully sunny day here too
te 7 please
te 7 ends in what you did on the bike

: )
hi folks
hi jbv
Hi, hi!
hi, jbv!
I thought my chat log was frozen! hi everybody :)
Hi, Sue?
Well if it was, it seems to have thawed. ;)
howdy jbv
sue I had an interesting trip in a time machine yesterday - sitting in an undergraduate class with a bunch of 20-year-olds, not sure if it made me feel younger or very very old
makes me feel old,now the 25 year old ladies call me "sir" and ask if I need help getting my bags to the car lol
lol, jbv! I sat in on a French class about 15 years ago and felt the same way!
and hi, neil and crossy!
today is Day 2, just finished my homework - it's surreal!
I am multitasking as usual...
howdy sue
Sounds like you are enjoying it JBV. How was the parking?
not bad, Molly, it was raining but I found out I could take the bus that runs very frequently between the parking lots and wherever... it was fine
boys life is a great book molly.make sure you read his novel "swan song"
Glad you have access to a shuttle JBV. That makes life easier, especially in the rain.
hey babblers
hi, lbuxxx!
howdy lbuxx
hows everyone today?
Yep. I'm always doing that, Sue. [multitasking]
Uhhh, tired... and not fully awake. You?
Miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua? Or is the other dog a Toy Fox Terrier? Hard to tell.
min pin and rat terrier
just taking a break from work here
Rat Terrier... I was just going to add that!
pit bull on the inside.. lol
Haha! Yes, the tiny dogs think BIG, don't they?
And think they're sooo tough.
always.. it gets old sometimes.. usually amuses me tho.
Aww.
Yeah, I bet there are times they're cutest when they're asleep, huh?
tho they be but small, they be fierce
right.. lol
Yep. Ankle-biters. ;)
Did you see my reply to you earlier, jbp? I've been here and there... so if you responded to that, I have no clue?
my min pin actually did bite someone on the ankle once.. lol
Haha, that doesn't surprise me.
<--- has been bitten on the ankle by a very small dog
i did not negneil, as i have been bopping around as well
will check the chock
jes,you still here?
dory
Oh, ok. I thanked you for your nice compliment... and told you I was glad it gave you a laugh. :)
damn :-( PB for me
And just call me Neil... it's my name. ;)
off you go sue
thanx sue!
Yep, Sue. But there are lots of goodies in there, I hear.
but i have blt,s in there
oh well - it is lunch time anyway, hopefully there is something tasty and healthy in there :-)
well,if you take the bacon out..and remove the booze from my long island iced tea, then it is good for u
I'll keep the booze, I think :-)
just realized my microwave was set on "low" - no wonder it was taking so long to heat my lunch!!! sigh...
Healthy food? In the PB? Ahahahaha. Defeats the purpose.
good 1/2 oz of gin, rum, vodka, triple sec,3/4 fill glass with pink lemonade, add splash of coke, top with shaved ice and garnish with slice of lemon
sure I could call you by your name, I s'pose.
since you have caused me to get a twitter account.
just to lurk from, mind you
yum :-) maybe I will stay in here a while :-)
I'll be right over Crossy, to sample
2 of those and your legs go numb
<--- has canceled her twitter account since it got hacked
Ummm, it's not the best idea to follow me on there. I really don't want anyone who does on there, knowing about this. That page is all public and I only tweet non-personal stuff there... and connect with only certain people [follow back].
but the rest of you feels fine, tis a funny thing
numb would be good, crossy, my knees have been acting up
If you want a personal network connection with me, I use G+ for that purpose. Our network there is very private.
There are reasons I won't go into here.
no worries. I don't ever poste
um, what is G+? google?
well anyway, no worries
Well still. I prefer to keep that totally seperate from this or my personal networks.
Yes, that's right.
Google+. Which is still invitation-only.
And there's Flickr too.
im on FB (though that for sure is not private) as JB Putterman
I don't use FB at all... I refuse to. There is NO privacy on there.
yeah, I hear ya
well, with nbt and 126 words, I'm off like a prom dress
hope to bbl, all, and thanks for all the good clues!
No it isn't for sure private. In fact, there's no such thing as a "private" FB page, no matter how privately you think you've set it. That's why I've emptied my page out there and do nothing on there anymore. I only had that account for connecting with my college alumni... I don't add anyone else. I'm only leaving my dead page there, until they're all moved over to G+.
If you want a G+ invitation, let me know. There are several other Babblers in our network there.
hello again
Message me on Flickr or email is in my profile.
hi, ruby!
Hi ruby.

it's an sw, jmc
combined word?
past tense of a descriptor of the weather in texas right now.
ah just foundit ty
i am waiting for a new friend from my masters program to come on--he plays word mo** and i told him this was sooooo much bettter
well that's dumb. it'll accept tw4 but not the past tense of the same word?
what game is that?
word mo4/5
yeah; what is it?
it is a game where you spell a word out but the letters don't have to be touching
each time you use a letter it is replaced with a new one
oh, well that'd be way too easy :)
like book worm but in that the letters still have to touch.
well to be fair he is from india
similar to book worm
heh. well, i'm sure i'd lose if it used indian words, in ANY word game.
but he was finding words fast and furious before the class started
(as usual i had a peek at the grid)
did he remember to stop and go to class? :)
we we** both in the class at the time
goodgood :)
ok..can someone PLEASE explain to me why..whenever i suggest a solution to a problem in guiding....i get my head ripped off?
that is the way i sucked wht in--we we** both in a meeting
hmmm who is doing the ripping car?
brb
the other leaders in my guide unit... the one leader and myself ( we have been doing this unit for years) both have crazy ass insane schedules this year... i suggested we cap our unit at 20 girls so that we dont have the addded stress of needing 3 leaders present for all meetings...anotehr unit...that is short girls...meets at same time and same night at a different church.... and those leaders OFFERED to take some of ours b/c they know i am crazy a$$ busy this year... my god..u would think i asked them all to chop off their right arm
lets see... i am going to school 100 km away from home..5 days a week ( that is 2 hour MINIMUM of driving every frigging day... working 20+ hours a week, i have my own kids and home to look after ..homework ( of which i will have tonnes of reading) and i have this guide unit and a pathfinder unit..hello...crazy a$$ busy
if u piss me off..i just wont go..period
sorry, car, i cannot explain it. i don't understand people well enough to get beyond "they're obviously crazy and didn't think it through."
and I am VOLUNTEERING!!!!!!...not getting paid...
some people cannot tolerate competence
hello, carlee, jes, je, et al
some people need to ki$$ my fat a$$ then... cus i will not deal well with disorganization this year
hi dc :o)
hi dc :)
on a happier nite i pick up m new car...and i have my schedule...and i have some of my books now.. :)
note* even
yay! good news
wow, the V was easy today
oh...the white house has been briefed about a certain and credible threat but is unconfirmed... yay..9-11 anniversary
eh, there's been enough rain nothing'll burn here and the N and E
yay for a new car, car :)
ah, there goes the rain again. just after it'd let up and the sky turned a tad orange
yes..yay..i cant wait!!!!
i hope school goes well for you, and that the kids help with the house what with the commute
so, i'm going to go for my realty license
realtor, specifically
woohoo for u dc
two years has been too long, need to do something
i hear u seain... i have been wanting to finish school for years but DXH would never let me...gee..if he had have years ago..i would be paying him support right now...
i should look at at least finishing my BA, too
that is what i am doing this year..and next year is teachers college
ok..i am going to go be a good student and do more4 reading now...
only have about 20 novels for kiddy lit...
that's a path i've wanted to go down, maybe in time
enjoy, carlee :)
nite nite
back
wb, jmc
i recommend going back to school dc
i just need to go to GMU and see what's left. I left at the 350 level, so should not be hard, just a matter of getting to the school to see what's required.
Hi...been a long time since I've babbled
is that where you we** at school
hi MP!
hello, MP :)
indeed it was, je
Hi jmc, dc, et al
i just finished interviewing for a job as a telephone solicitor for the university i am attending
my how the mighty have fallen! hahah
neat. beats nothing
exactly dc and fits with my schedule
part of my interview was they asked why i wanted the job and i said i need to earn money
jmc...another good anwser would be that you were looking to enhance your financial portfolio and were looking for something that matched your skills and that would satisfy your desire to work for an office that you would be of value to and saw their solicitation and realized what a match it would be to work with them.....
very nicely phrased, MP
ty dc.....being a former Admin Officer at NIH I naturally picked up a degree in BS :o)
haha mp i did go on to say that i was happy to raise money for an organization i supported
LOL
good evening friends - wishing good luck to anyone seeking employment...
hi jbv
evening, jbv
i confess i would rather get a re** job and drop out of school . . .
jmc I like your answer also and you have great skills in that from your non-profit...good show
but in lieu of job this is a pretty good deal
yes they had me do a role play and i knocked their socks off
:) go you
jmc are you not with the non-profit anymore?
hi
hi all
help with last we8 pls
peri.....
hi peri
it's a past tense peri
no mp i decided 12 years was enough and i am waiting to see what god has in store for me now
pt of the 6,30 before it
meanwhile i am studying conflict transformation
hi, peri
that sounds interesting jmc, - who teaches it, I mean what kind of background?
I don't have the we6 above it
more we4 toward the sunset
found them, ty
mainly it is taught by people who have been involved in peace negotiation and reconciliation work in every place you have heard of that happening and many that you have not heard of
very nice :)
but palestine, burundi, uganda, south africa, kenya, guatemala, el salvador etc.
that's the kind of thing that makes me glad to know there are people who devote themselves to that sort of thing
they all have interesting stories to tell
needlecases :)
and the students are many already doing the same work in nigeria and iran
doing some embroidery dc ;-)
they should send someone over to Congress....
wa6/36 pls
odd you should say that jbv that is the issue i was thinking about working on in my advocacy class
i last embroidered some years ago, a panel for some friends' chupa, which they quilted from panels they sent various of us.
how to get congress back to being functional again
looks like a verb + *** *** again
my thoughts exactly, JBV -- just been listening to the BS after Obama's speech. Hi all!
seain you are a multitalented guy!
evening, jill
nice flowers, dc!
hi jill
not getting your clue JBV
we had to learn to embroider in the required sewing segment of home ec back in middle school. my mom did lots of fibre atrs, which helped, too.
ty, jill
sorry, I knew it was bad :) - how about wa + 3 consonants + one semivowel
haha when i went to school it was still forbidden for boys to take home ex and girls to take shop
they could both take typing though
ty
ty jbv
forbidden?
I learned from my mom, started real young with cross-stitch, and did it for many years, have several finished things in frames around my house, pillows, baby items, gifts, etc.
I would have prefered shop.I hated cooking class in jr high (it was not middle school then)
My mom did lots of cross stitch. she tried to get me to do it. I hated it
I never took home ec OR shop -- just academic stuff
we did not have any of that in my school, I also learned to type from my mom - she dug out her old typing manual and I banged away on one of those ancient typewriters with the round keys, an antique now
I am so behind in what is going on in babbleland...my husband got sick in March..ended up with a diagnosis of small-cell lung cancer extensive stage with mets to liver...started chemo 6/20 completed his forth round last week...had CT Wed to see if 50% shrinkage...prognosis not good...50% live 10-13 months w/ treatment...will probably have whole brain radiation 15 treatments...I am afraid...I so wanted to grow old with him...now everything is different...we now have a new normal and make plans to enjoy every day that we are given with each other...oh, sometimes we are like everyone else...we fight...argue...but we know to go on and the real fight is for his life and that is what matters...the rest is just crap that happens and not important!
i took home ec, wood shop, architectural drafting, robotics, typing...
but I did take typing and shorthand -- the first i"m grateful for, the second was Pitman and a link with my grandfather I only recently discovered.
oh, MP, so very sorry to hear that...
i'm so sorry, MPittore
You are both facing a very difficult challenge , do everything you can to "stay normal" as you said, and stay positive
ooo poor mp i understand some of what you are going through except i never expected to grow old with my hubby as he had had 3 brain tumor surgeries before i met him
Omg, MPitt, I remember when you got that diagnosis. So sorry the prognosis is not good.
hang in there mp and know there is a safe place here in babbleland
yep...but there is always hope and you as my dad used to say you can cry because you have no shoes but then you can see that some have no feet....so things can always be worse...some never have the years and happiness we have....
there you go mp you have had good times and some here in babbleland only have bad memories
jmc, my niece did the same thing -- has two sons, now grown up. Remarried once, for a while...
good thoughts and prayers are coming your way.
you are lucky for all the years together but i know that really doesn't make you feel better for now. hang in there, as long as there is hope.
((((MPITTORE)))) you're in my t's and p's.
hi everyone!
hi lbd
so true...I wish everyone in the world had the life I have had even though there have been times filled with sorrow they are dim in relationship with my Good Times...and the Sunshine in my life!
hi jmc! how's school?
may I ask why brain radiation if cancer is lung/liver? if you don't care to go into it, I understand
school was good today--hoping a friend from school will join us in babbleland tonight
i may go email him the url
oooh, a new recruit!
tomorrow i am not looking forward to since it is the ropes course; team building blah blah blah
i hope so lbd he is so sw5/18
brb
i was wondering when that was going to happen. have you talked to the instructor about not doing the high ropes?
oh I don't mind talking about anything but it was sweet of you to be so thoughtful...this cancer loves to sneek up to the brain and strike w/ a vengeance then the lung cancer in the brain is very nasty to live with...they try to give you the best life possible for as long as possible but this cancer loves to attack the major organs...it is very aggresive and fast growing so they try to keep it at bay. The radiation is a prophylactic treatment.
MPittore, you and your husband will receive many prayers.
oops marching off to penalty box looking for dark chocolate....
I don't know what else to say except I hope you will be strong for him and that you will have the support you need -
the high ropes are apparently optional so i am okay with the other stuff.
now is a good time to remind people about folding@home for cancer and other medical research
gapeach...indeed we have many prayers going all over the world...we feel like we are going to be lucky in dealing with this disease...we told his doctor that we were going to be in that tiny percentage that makes it five years and more....we just know that for some reason. He is doing really well so far compared to others at his stage so that is good.
I am lucky that I am such a strong woman...it has helped me all my life...sometimes I get tested but I know I can make it and be there for him and so does he. You can never let the cancer be in control....we fight it hard, it is our life to live.
wtg mp
I lost a son-in-law to cancer several years back. He had the first bout in his 20's and several more in subsequent years....he lived to be 68 with a fairly good quality of life. My daughter kept him busy....vacations and cruises. I don't think he would have made it as long as he did if he had'nt
maried her.
married.
there is no disputing the power of positive thinking -life is worth fighting for - do you have children MP?
Yes, we both have a son from our previous marriages they are both 36 years old. We met when they were 2...
oh that's a great story
so they grew up together, like twins?
top thrid column E stats please
do you have ee 4/6
yes that comes from the fourth column but i thought that would work too
how about et 6/27
hmm no
Joes tumor causes him to have low sodium which is serious in itself...it effects the brain and when it gets low it's like instand onset alzheimers and insanity all at the same time....we decided it was amusing so we joke about it and the funny things he says and does....once while he was in the hospital and I ran home to get clean clothes (because I stayed with him every day/night) he callled me up and said come get him they were trying to kill him and I was the only one who could save him...by the time I got there he had cussed everyone out and told them to go to hell that I was coming...we all had a big laugh over it because it was the last thing anyone would expect him to do...
it looks like it ends with a biblical pronoun but with semivowel
haha my hubby said a few confused things too and we adopted the detrich bonhoffer stance: there is nothing in this life that is so serious that it doesn't have an element of humor in it
funny afterwards, but probably not when it's happening, hopefully hospital staff knows how to deal with it ....
not getting it jbv
oh jmc I love that...
detrich bonhoffer was imprisoned by nazi germany and was executed the last two weeks of the war
me, mine, thee, th***
oops, put me int he PB!
oooooo ty jbv i was looking for a shorter pronoun
knew i was looking for something chemically
well it is a chemical word
haha so it is
velt is not a word????
veldt
yes jbv...it was crazy when it happened but they all knew how close hea and I are since I wouldn't leave his side they said I could always calm him down even though he was taking med for that it didn't work because he got so anxious I got him to sit and listen and then it would kick in and work...
ah were there you go i still can't spell hahaha
ty une
yw :-)
I have to go to sleep early tonight, I woke myself up at 4:30 this a.m. so I could watch a live transmission of a festival in my Sicilian "home town" - very cool but VERY early!
it was 11:00 over there, 5:00 here !!
was it fun jbv?
I have 131 left so I'm off to the grid...
how fun, jbv!!
go mp go
176
well, not fun exactly, a religious occasion, but so interesting - the patron saint's name is "maria dei miracoli" which means Maria of theMiracles, and the first thing the priest said was to give thanks for themiracle of the internet - amazing!
how cool! :-)
but i think i am listing since i have to get up early and climb ropes
I know, I felt like I was there - what a great idea
climb ropes??
that is interesting jbv and i agree whole heartedly with the priest--i personally still think phones are amazing
Thinking of you and your hubby, MP, and sending good thoughts and wishes for strength for both of you as you take this journey together.
yeah it is some team work touchy-feely stuff for the school une
aahhh
Une, I love your icon - it's exactly what we talk about in the course I'm taking - Italian cinema and literature
:-D
haha une i used to read books to the boy and then we would watch the movie together and compare
the one that held up the best was to kill a mockingbird
the book is always better!
(altho I LOVE movies)
second best was disney's section of once and future king
yes, that's what we are going to do, compare and contrast
I loved that movie -
not always une i think the movie of the 7 faces of dr lao was better and also i found the pbs special of passage to india more comprehendable
(once and future I meant)
every read the book? almost no one has and it is fabulous
ty mom23 yes it is another journey in our lives...not one we sought out but was given to us just the same and so we will makes the best of it and look for the good things we will learn from it...there have been a couple so far...and many more I am sure...
sorry folks, but room with a view was a terrific film.
yes, jmc, read it in HS
not that the book was bad, but the film was its equal (imho)
there is a chapter in the book where people are talking and you can't tell who they are and i gave them random voices and when we found out who they were it turned out i had given them each the same voice as i had for that character earlier in the book
hi doren
that is fabulous writing!
hi doren
i never read the book doren
*puts it on list*
hi j. we need to keep an eye on the movies showing in Montclair,, and someday I will rush from school to make a matinee and meet you there.
jmc, did you see the movie though?
help with the bottom e please
yes i saw the movie
to go in, jmc. and did you love it?
actually i just finished reading absolum absolum and i was devestated! what a great book but maybe more so to southernors
*duh*
ok doren - I've signed up for a course on Mondays and Wednesdays -
ty dorens
what j? italiano?
no my misspelling of faulkner
nbt finally
yes it's a course in Italian Cinema and Literature - we are going to read 4 novels and compare them to 4 film adapations
LOVED Room with a View!
I've had homework already!
sorry dorens was talking to a different j!
oh that is terrific j... i guess that's how this conversation began? and une, of course you would!!
I actually am very energized by being on campus
at rutgers?
no i think it began with une icon! haha
and I'm quite impressed with the students in the class - they are all juniors and seniors, very serious
yes, rutgers
true! LOL
best thing you could be doing... am glad for you, and only slightly jealous
*head spinning*
oh, haha, i see une's icon. So, Une, who began th whole thing, can you judge Forster's book by the film??
that's cause of your jack jmc. i haven't even had one glass of wine tonite and i'm following just fine
it's been so long since I read the book . . . hmmmm
ahem i am drinking wine and only had one glass so far! :-)
ah, but the film was SOO beautiful, and would only make you want to read the book.. so enhances it, yes?
no dorens i keep thinking you are talking to me when you are talking to jbv
jmc, jbv, just imagine when jbp joins us -
jmc, (smile) i was just joking, youknow that right?
jmc, I had 2 gin and tonics WITH LUNCH today -- with a family friend, George, who's 89 and SUCH a character!
not to mention jmitch
yes yes yes dorens!
i am never confusing... only one dorens, yes?
haha une you tittler you
dorens
so far, yes
dorens YOU are the person causing the confusion
une, i walked out of the theater back in the 80's wasn't it? and wanted to book a trip to florence then and there. took years, but when i ifinally did get there with Rachel it was all worth while
dorens, of course I love anything with Helena Bonham Carter . . . still swoon over Wings of the Dove . . .
@jmc heee heee heee
yes, 1985
:-P
first trip to Florence I had fever 102 . . . the whole city looked like a slightly blurred Renaissance painting . . . sigh
not a bad way to see florence--you miss some of the dirt
LOL
oh, and Howard's End!
Helena was wonderful and Vanessa Redgrave . . . oh my god, I adore that woman
hey that's what it looked like to me and i was healthy. and yes to howard's end,,,, i think maybe it is the directors...
i also fell in love with daniel day lewis. that year he was also in my beautiful laundrette (great little movie) and the two roles were sooo different, I was madly impressed with his talent.
well, great chat - My movie and book list just got longer, and now I have to close my eyes... good night and take care everybody
probably so . . .
nite joanne!
gnite, JBV :-)
i just remember two things about florence--that i went to see serpico (al pacino as the only honest cop on the nyc police) with a bunch of students from other countries and ended up defending the nyc police
Daniel Day Lewis . . . gawd! What a man!
bye jbv
and the unfinished work of michealangelo
i need to go too... three extremely tough days for me and another one tomorrow. Am loving work, but it is exhausting... was there till 7 on Wednesday, 5 the next two days...
i was studying art history for the first time in my life and was totally swept away
bye dorens
ok . . . bye, dorens
jmc, you went to see a movie in florence???
a good place to study art history
i saw Clockwork Orange on the Champs Elysees LOL
i was backpacking as a just graduate college student and the guy i was with had been kuwait for 2 years and wanted to catch up with culture
jmc, i was actually a student in Provence at the time -- was in Italy on vacation in November
haha... but in florence i walked and walked and walked and ate and ate and ate... nights were spent conked out. that pretty much describes my times in paris as well
i was not a good traveler then
ok, that definitely makes sense... and serpico was a great film (as ws clockwork orange, even tho it gave me nightmares) and now good night!!
oh, when I first got to Paris, that's all I did . . . walk and walk and walk!
but i still have some good memories
(saw woody allen movie in athens)
:-D
didn't know how to react when he made a joke about all greeks being homosexuals
but all the greeks laughed
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's wonderful!
i was relieved!
back in a mo . . . have email from dog transport coordinator
hb
oh i found nemo!
okay i am fading and must get up early and clean before i go play with ropes
by all
morning all :)
hey mrp . . . tennis rained out AGAIN . . . aarrgghh

However, I think people would be very le5/14 of hiring me as their doctor since I know nothing about medicine. I'm glad I am not a doctor or lawyer because th 4/5 I wouldn't have the job I have now and I ado/45 my job. Th5/12 is no ot5/12 job I'd want to have. Some students are so sw5/18,they me 4/5 my heart. Some students can be a re4/4 pain too They te4/4 my patience.I've had my patience te6/21 on many occassions. However,I love th4/6 anyway. I am so glad Mother st7/32 me into the right direction and convinced me to become a teacher. My husband is done listening to music on the st6/18. He wants to use this laptop. He's going to be a wa 6/30 & wa 5/18 his time playing Farmville. Night Jess
hey neil. you apparently have power.
I do, Jes? What makes you say that?
Hi neil.
I have to say procrastination pays off
Hi herin.
I just fixed it in my story.Thank you neil for noticing.
because, unless you are cyberpunk jacked in, you are running a computer
don't know, jes -- thought they were called te 5
Hello neil! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
which generally requires power (though i suppose could be battery)
You're welcome, Min. I'm a writer... I notice these things.
oh -- duh -- ty, jes
welcome, nan ;)
Yes, of course.
Jess have you heard off the game Cyberpunk?
yep
I wasn't sure what kind of "power" you meant.
I should see mistakes in story too since I'm a teacher
never played it though.
That could be taken many ways.
Played it at all? For it is fun
i was just wondering if the reason you weren't on was because you were one of the folks with no 'lectric today.
Oh, no. Had it all day.
I was working today though.
no, never played it, lady. am fond of cyberpunk stories though.
The RPG is a good read and fun
se7/36?
And when not shooting [photographs] I was kept rather busy on Twitter... too busy, in fact. Ugh. Shouldn't take my laptop to jobs with me.
Hello Shirlockc! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle.
I think a lot of people on there just love to argue with me for the sake of doing just that.
that could be said of many ppl on the internet, neil
Oh undoubtedly.
so close to getting "eleventy"
those te's are brutal
haven't gotten there, nan... stalled out on the el :)
e + mine the mother l*** + vowel

Going again now, Byeeeee!x
bye jacula
Oh man. Now I know I need more sleep!
Hi/bye jac
Why did I think it was you? Must've been looking at the chog crosseyed.
cuz i'm very nondescript and easy to mix up with ot5s?
bye for now - back at the flip :)
g'night, nan
Oh, and the shoes went over really well!
You are not, jes. I guess my eyes just mixed up nan's post with one of yours, somehow... or my overtired brain did.
He liked them did he, Jellen?
excellent, jellen :)
not just you, neil; jac totally didn't notice my seconding of nan's et clue request.
Well I know I'm seriously exhausted right now, so anything's possible. :P
i'm invisible tonight. oh woe is me! *hand to forehead in despair*
How are you invisible, when I've just responded to what you've said?
oops
wait! i know this one. just cuz i'm invisible doesn't mean you can't hear me :)
:P
lol, jes
If a tree falls in the forest...
do the ot5 tr5 laugh at it? pb for you, by the way. :)
Oh damn! :/
Sorry people! Big woops!
[goes into the PB]

Fish me please
so jellen, details! dish on the date :)
*hands lady a trout*
V I got down to 48 before list. Yes do tell Jellen
Very simple...I picked him up at his motel (he's in Joplin for work) and we went to dinner...
Is he nice?
Very nice guy...
Will you see him again?
I think we will go out again, yeah!
New friendships are always good.
Didn't Joplin get hit by the tornado?
Yes, it did, herin...
Ok. Sorry brain not with it. So more details on this date as I am nosy
You're in Joplin? what a small world! there were 2 guys from Joplin with me on vacation in Alaska in may :)
Jess you don't have FB do you?
That's all we did...just talked a lot...
nope, no fb, lady
THat is great Jellen.
but potential for a second date is good, jellen :)
Jess just for you (about Alaska) Brooke Collins of Juneau Alaska, punched a large black bear in the snout to save her dachshund, Fudge. Admitting she was stupid to do it, she said it was the first thing she thought of. The startled bear dropped the dog and run off into the bush. Lady 1 Bear 0.
Yeah, he an almost 5-year-old...
*has
I saw that. Can't say I recommend it as a general course of action. Bears often punch back.
is that good, bad, or neutral, jellen?
And with claws too Jess.
What do you think of this Jellen?
Neutral...
Ok
easier than making your own baby :)
True, jes :-)
What is, punching a bear?
can i have a clue for any of the 8s please? dont have any.
no, starting up a relationship with someone who already has a kid
Oh!
Haha, yes.
i never fancied the pregnancy thing; now i have a 14 year old without ever having to go through it :)
st8 is past tense of st6
I love kid sitting means you can hand them back
I've never punched a bear and don't plan on it anytime soon. I did go scuba diving in Thailand though. Found a shark. Punched it in the nose and exclaimed, YOUR REIGN OF TERROR. IS. OVER. [underwater of course]
I see, jes... that saved you a lot of discomfort. :)
guess i dont have the st 6. sorry
i got more 7s but no 8s
well I am going to go and rest or something peaceful
Which one, the st6,18?
st6,18 -- what you play music recordings on in your home. [no, not your computer]
And the st8,45 is past tense of that.
have a good night, lady
that was it. ty neil. got both the 6 and 8.
Bye, herin
yw mkg.
whew! firewords!
Congrats, Une!
can't get into hotmail . . . rats! tx jellen . . . *[oof*
