Walking pneumonia is from either Mycoplasma or Chlamydophila. I get it about once yearly--starts as sore throat, then raspy voice, then cough, cough, cough, especially with deep inspiration or laughing.
mucinex isn't available up here, but my daughter brought some with her when she visited :)
I think it can worsen some coughs, but not sure.

Cold and cough meds are useless and have potentially bad side effects (increased BP, HR...) I would never spend money on any of those meds.

scrabbs, i stopped taking the codeine, it didn't do much for the cough and take nyquil (because it helps me sleep and it's an all-in-one med). should i not be taking a cough suppressant?
problem with codeine is it bungs you up as well
It won't help because you NEED to cough. Something is triggering the cough reflex and I suspect pneumonia based on your story. To sleep you can take a single ingredient--generic Benadryl. The multi-ingredient products include things that don't work--decongestant, expectorant and cough suppressant.

I do them once a year and don't really have the recipe in my head, but I don't think the proportions sound right there... too much egg, not enough onion. I used to eat these as fast as my mother could make them. No self-discipline when it comes to latkes... and they're scrumptious when crispy and served with sour cream. Some prefer applesauce. And yes homemade is always best! I'd try one egg and see how it works. And remember to squeeze out as much water from the potatoes as you can. Otherwise you have to keep adding flour (or matzoh meal) cause the batter gets watery. Grate the potatoes by hand if possible--my grandmother swore a bit of blood improved the flavor :-)

Oh, I just lost a beautiful black cat, probably mostly Turkish Van, in August. She was abused by children in a family that had moved to VT from MO with 48 cats! She was so intimidated. It took years for her to get over it and she never did totally.

Kali loved the water. I used to call her my Water Cat. The very first time we let her go outside she ran to the brook and started following it right down stream. My husband had to run and get her b efore she got to the end of our property.
He really looks skinny if you see him from the rear when he walks.
He is a sweetheart though so we love him no matter how scrawny he is.

Cats often stay out at night here but don't often wakes people by yowling. Yes, damage to native species is a huge problem - but a bigger one in Aus., of course. However, cats are a law unto themselves, and if you've let your cat out, you can't be sure of it returning when YOU want it to.
So, that's what I meant by no fair.

Hmm, in UK that doesn't always work. Cats often 'play' people (neighbours) for food - more food - and so don't always feel the need to come home when the spoon is banged on the side of the foodbowl. Having said that, it works more often than it doesn't.
I don't like the idea of cats roaming about at night because of destroying the environment, getting into fights or sadly getting run over
When Beloved and I were in Devon last summer we saw a cottage in a small village with the most brilliant garden and run for their Siamese cats. It was to prevent theft of the cats. A wire run came out of the roof and went across and around the top of the garden and then down and into the house at ground floor level. Never seen anything quite like that before!
