hi all, good to see you Dee, have missed you
great to see you all! Hubby's surgery went well, and now he is on the mend. He gets his sutures out Tues and will probably start PT after that.
oh thats good!
hi flosey, cos and vanilla besides dee
nbt...hi volley all
good to hear Dee
so relieved the surgery is over
how are you jilli
hi dart!!
Great news, dee.
I'm ok, thanks, flosey -- hpoing we've caught it in the bud but we have to wait and see.
already he is fully weight bearing. I can't tell you how good it is to be missed and how great it is to be back!
fingers crossed jilli

I went to the Lions' Christmas luncheon for singles today, with a friend. There were about 125 there, mostly women, of course.
nbt
i keep trying mattress
or method
oh, sounds lovely jilli, have never heard of it
wtg dee
ha 7 x 2
ty still haven't found the 8
lions club jill?
or is it a different thing?
yes, cos
most of our Lions' Clubs around here are comprised of men
lions club has done alot for me when i was a kid.. great organization
my summer camps were always funded by them and my hearing aids were funded by them
hearing aids and glasses are provided by them... if I remember correctly; hubby is a member
nbt at 38 left
yeah.. so i usually donate to them when i can.. to give back
wtg jili
great charity
ty got the 2nd ha7
still looking for that one
ma7 x 2
Cos, aren't kids in the US entitled to free hearing aids? they are here until one turns 21. But if one is on a benefit they are free for life. (but have to pay around $40 aus per yr)
ahh lol thanks piegon... :)
no diz...
This Lions' Club has women members too but mostly men, I think. They do wonders here in many ways. This turkey dinner is just one of them. It's free, but donations for the Food Bank are welcome. Volunteers do the cooking and Girl Guides and Brownies do the serving for the sit-down dinner, held at the local Legion.
insurance won't pay for hearing aids either.
only cochlear implants.
which is a crock because hearing aids are like only 500 apiece, while cochlear implants are liek 5000 apiece
So you do have hearing aids, cos?
most don't pay for glasses either
i lost them in the move..so i have an appointment with vocational rehab. in Jan to get a new pair. they willpay for it.
wow Cos, my aids are worth nearly 3 grand each
i dont get the fancy one.. i get the behind the hear one. not the ones you can hide you knwo what i mean?
really expensive around here, too
yikes, diz!
would you benefit, cos, from the implants?
mine are behind the ear ones as well...too deaf for the fancy ones..lol
nbt
it's not guaranteed. it's not worth the risk. if i got them, i wouldn't be able to ever get an MRI.
so true Cos
lol yeah and i kinda like how the behind the ears look on me :P
wtg jill
wtg jilli
Hmf -- didn't know that about cochlear implants
ty flosey and cos
aww I forgot about the MRI issue
you're also NOT encouraged to swim for long periods of time..and the machine can malfunction and leak in your brain and cause damage
it could be beneficial but is it worth the risK? i dont think so. i read lips at 80% accuracy with hearing aids so thats good enough
ooh -- nasty, cos!
and it can also limit your lifestyle
and i can hear the door bell, my dog barking, etc .... and some words i can hear if you're behind me talking so hearing aids do help me.
diz, are you deaf like cos?
i remember hearing a door creak once and i loved it lol
same here Cos.
very good cos
cos,you're a delight!

number one thing people steal during the holidays..filet mignon
germanic spelling of playing in the front at a concert??
really?? th4's wild!
you'd think they per-loined it?
they steak their claim...
Jameson whiskey is number 2
electric tools are 3rd
smart phone are 4th
too bad condoms aren't number 4
Gilette Mach 4 razors are 5th
who would steal a condom?
I would think lots of people do!
that is a very strange list and not at all what I would have thought
I wonder if they'd have to diaphram an escape route
oh no ruru I'm truly lol now
diaphragm
O K-Y would you wonder that?
joey I'm wondering where the power tools come in
you too m..you're both too much !!
I can not even imagine where/how the stealers would hide those to walk out of the store.
The Jameson too. Stuff like that takes planning.
maybe they have a trojan horse
is that from stores.. or stealing in general?
or just stealing in general stores??
the hosts of the show I'm watching were wondering the same thing joey
from stores I think..
probably a bag with a draw type bottom. put it down over the item and close the bag over it.
although lots of pkgs are being stolen from door steps
Store clerk to customer: ..Sir? is that a power drill in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
RRRRRR
so far (cross fingers) I have had nothing taken from my steps/post box that I am aware of.
I think the best would be, oh sorry, sir, do want the condoms to go, or do you want to wear them home?
I've been lucky too
Jamieson Whiskey isn't even that good?
Jamieson Whiskey isn't even that good?

Good morning all......another wee one today....
But hard
oh no.....really???
vast
oh dear!!...bad start...lol
Well for me anyway!
at least there is a list early today....which am grateful for!
I won't use it until I am totally stuck!
well I do try to get as many as possible first, but dependng on my frame of mind that particular I could almost finish......or......make very little impact at all!
good morning. Is anybody still here?
Hi rubyfoo.....
hi flask, is it cold and rainy there?
hi ruby :)
well ruby its cold, but its SNOWY here.......
hi mrp! I usually see you good byes just as I enter
it is cold and raining here... only 12 C and it is summer!!
no! Snow this early? But if you have it now, we will by next weekend
i am running late today ruby :)) we had hail yesterday!
hail in summer? the weather is surely topsy-turvy everywhere!
Ruby, we had at the beginning of November last year and right thro'.....
*snow
I think the weather changes are alarming!
last year we had more than 2 ft of snow in Dec and then, not another flake all winter. Warm and sunny in January
Very scary I think!
indeed scary!
we just had dinner, and i should have cooked the garlic before adding it to the vegetable dish... I am burping garlic bubbles!
just don't attempt to kiss anyone!!
flask, i don't even want to look myself in the mirror for fear of breaking it with my breath!
I've found a way to make brussels sprouts sweet and delish: pre-boil them until done, then heat up a combo of olive oil and butter with slices of garlic and saute until cooked to death!
saute the sprouts
yes, death by brussell sprouts is a good recipe!
the gfood value is probably gone, but they taste wonderful!
oh no.....mushy sprouts!!.....I love them with a bit of bite in them....
brussell sprouts are on my 'no way' list!
really??
if you had mine, you would change your mind. Even my husband loves them now and wouldn't touch one before
choc
yep, my mother 'hurt' me with them
ruby, i would eat your brussell sprouts any day! ((hugs))
that's how he felt. His mother would make them boiled and unseasoned and make him sit at the table until he finished them. Same with cauliflower
she made them every single night, boiled to death
it was unreasonable to expect me to sit there and eat them or get punished
of course, I slip in the butter without his knowing....heheh
oh your hubby went through the same trials and tribulations!
its amazing how many folk dislike veg so much because of their childhood memories....
I was lucky, my mother was too busy to really care if I ate or not, so I wound up being a total but moderate omnivore
I never eat them without butter and lots of pepper!
flask, i can't stand regular cabbage because of childhood memories... I will eat chinese cabbage but not white cabbage... would rather slit my wrists
thin and I eat anything I feel like
we have a friend whose mother made corned beef and cabbage once a week and he would walk into the house, smell the cooking, and have a sense of dread
but cabbage with butter and sea salt -- heaven.
hi all !!! brussell sprouts! I buy the frozen ones, stick them covered in the cat cooker (oopsie micro wave) for three mins and perfect...our g/kids lurve them, especially our nearly 9 yr old who calls them 'over grown peas' but he wont eat peas. Go figure....LOL
cat cooker? bad grannie!!
and hello
Hi diz!
this is a hard grid for me
there are about 4 vegetables that my mother made impossible... cabbage, brussell sprouts, eggplant and lamb
hi diz :)
lamb is my favourite meat and I would NEVER eat corned beef!
I think you and my husband had the same mother! I taught him to eat lamb, "my way", and now it's his favorite meat
corned beef! **vomit**!!
you can't get decent corned beef here, only little greasy cans of it
we must have ruby! she killed lamb. I only eat my own cooked lamb :))
no its not an easy one today ruby!
with only 5 vowels, this is a bugger grid
I marinate a boned and tied leg of lamb (halal, of course) in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, rosemary and pepper for two days and then he cooks it on a spit
can't even get to half but must run. See you later
bye ruby
bye ruby....

mm..i do not know the author, but feel free to send them over as i am down to my last 5 or 6 converted books to read and was getting nervous anyways lol

a normal set up would be 20 or more books waiting to be read;)
do you enjoy stephen king sprite?
or clive cussler?
stephen king for about 60%. Cussler yes.
ahh,i think i will send you the pack i just sent jess,if you want it .it has all of cusslers "dirk pitt" books

sc words... I cannot come up with many in this grid.
needful things was very good
aw how sweet, crossy. They are very good.
read it 2 years ago;)
yes I loved Needful Things. Brilliant.
she is in her mid 80,s now
incredible. She can be proud of what she did with her life, for sure.
indeed, she was a force to be reconed with in the 60,s
was she cool with her books being ebooks?
she was fine as long as i did not go crazy with them, and as long as it was never charged for or send to other businesses
nice! So errrrr... I might make a chance to beg them off you? :D
or would that be considered going crazy?

i have ONE sc word, i think it is yiddish for idiot
ah found two... lol, asking is finding, isn't it. Just mentioning is finding even!
oh good one. I have one that ends in the highest value tile today, and its plural.

I have 3 now. Are there more?

one of the things I found really interesting about Tana French: her second book picks a person from the first book and makes her into the main char. Same thing for the 3rd book.

Down to last 10 listlessly. I haven't finished a puzzle listlessly in quite a while. Think I'll come back later and give it a try.
perfectly, crossy, will convert them tonight. Lovely to look forward to reading them all.
wow jan, good one! It is kind of a kick, isn't it.
nothing finer than a good book;)
After yesteday's tight and nasty one, this one is pleasant. When I can finish a puzzle without listing, I call it 'spriting' the puzzle, in honor of your amazing abilities before lists ever existed.
so very true. And having an ereader is like being in a huge bookstore and allowed to simply take your pick. It is grand.
and if calibre were not a free program,it is one of the very few i would pay for anyways
awwww jan that is so sweet!
yes, and I think you can donate if you want, crossy
love it!..spriting the puzzle!
how many words please
102 today, jtdp, and hi
The only problem with ereaders is that I miss the serendipity of hanging out in bookstores just flipping through books I'd otherwise never consider. Luckily we still have a good independent bookstore in seattle.
i still frequent my independant used book store
hello sprite and thank you
Yeah, sprite was no question the queen of Babble in those days. Still is, some to think of it.
i am just out of room and shelf space!
That was come, not some. Though perhaps that's true too.
yes, that is true, and bookstores will never cease to attract me. I often download ebooks from usenet and check in Spotnet what they are about. That is kind of browsing too. But the smell and feel of real books... that is irreplaceable.
cause i never throw a book away,i never trade one in.i keep them untill they disintergrate from endless readings or are held together with too much tape and too many elastic bands
awww jan, I am actually blushing! I never was the best... just the most pitbull-like one. I so love to finish.
Me too crossy! I have over a thousand books in my office not to mention all the bookshoelves all over my house. I dread retiring partly because I have no idea where I'll put all my office books!
just stuff it all in your house, and when you pass ,dontate the entire shebang to your public library
our house is ruled by books, for the most part. My husband is ever so grateful I finally gave in to the ereader :)
A few months ago, I bit the bullet and got rid of most of my graduate school books. I emailed several younger faculty members in the field and told them to come to my office and get what they wanted!
tyhat is one of the main reasons i got an ereader..no room!
now my ereaders internal memory is 90% full......
crossy, remember one of the first books you sent me? "The moon is a harsh mistress" by Heinlein? I have that in pocket form, but it is almost fully in unglued pages now. I read it until it died.
oh wow jan. They must have been delighted.
I love my Kindle though. I couldn't do a long haul flight without it.
i can see it now,1 reader for fiction, and one for non fictionb, one for historical and one for periodicals lol
lol sprite
I have a reader that takes memory cards. I have a card for series and the internal memory for the one-of-a-kind books.
Yeah, it was kind of fun. Most of them were long out of print, and it was interesting/scary to see how cheap they were compared to academic books now. I just wrote a chapter in a book that the publisher is charging more than 200 dollars for! I can't imagine anybody is going to buy it--even my DH might balk!
problem is,the paperbacks in the 80,s were crap for glue and binding.now dell in the 50,s and 60,s whty the green edging on the pages? they knew good binding glue1
omg! 200 dollars! for a book!
Hi everyone......I too adore books.....however have had to succumb to a kindle....which is great, but nothing beats the smell and touch of a nice new paper/hard back book....
ouch!'
hi Flask, I totally agree. But I love my ereader anyway.
Academic publishers are dying. Libraries are cutting back on acquisitions severely. even university presses are hard pressed to survive.
wife uses a sony reader and i use a nook..kindke file format is just too proprietary
Ereaders aren't better or worse than hardcopy books. It's a different experience. Both are great.
$200 was routine for college textbooks when my kids were in uni - t5 years ago and more
1
we just build a 5 million dollar library..thing is booming stronger than ever
the ease of an ereader is lovely. So small, and light, easy to carry, and you can carry literally thousands of books on it. No need to drag heavy bagage on vacation anymore.
Textbooks are what floats academic presses these days. Mongraphs, not so much.
hi helensgirl
i am aproaching 400 on mine sprite;0
you're right Sprite!
those are scary prices. How on earth can students afford them?
hehehe that rhymes, Flask ;)
thats a few books crossy!
indeed
lol...so it does!!!
They can't. Student loans are the short term answer, but student loan debt is killing too many young people.
I have about 700 atm. But there are quite a few series among them. I love series.
another sick system, jan :(
then you will adore that Le guin series i sent
yes I will, I never read the whole series.
Really, sprite. Tuition at my uni is just under 40,000 a year. It's immoral, frankly.
some of our post secondary schools are working on plans to go totally paperless, everyone gets a kobo reader with all texts on it and a flash key for assignments and handing in homework
etas
ooops!
net books will be made available for those who do not have 1
that is the only word for it. It makes it almost impossible for people to study. And it won't be long before the society will feel the lack of people who studied.
that would be very smart, crossy.
Interesting, crossy. About fifteen years ago, my daughter's school got a grant frm Microsoft to go totally paperless. It was interesting .
it would save a truckload of money and the kids will not have the burden of 3000 dollars worth of books
a friend of my daughters attends a paperless school in the east of the Netherlands. They hand it their homework through the intranet as well. Very good system.
hi all
What they found was that kids learn differently when all their reading is online. Not better or worse, but differently
is there only one rh?
kobo wins, cause they limit the school units to hold the texts only, encouraging students to go get one for reading for pleasure outside of the classroom

it spoke to me--that is usually how i choose my icons
I never want to compare pain or grief or suffering. Everyone's feelings deserve respect.
I feel really bad for Haz and Ata, who knew her personally, though.
well you are of course right about that--i never let my son say he missed his dad more than me or his grandma did
yes i was hoping to see her if i manage to get the london job interview--it was on my list of things to do

that is wise of you, I think. It will be good for your son to know that some things cannot be compared.
i had a client who was in her 90s and her husband had died about 10 years earlier in his 90s
aw :(
when my husband died she gave me her sympathy and said "i know how you feel"
ouch... that is quite a different situation though.
she called me back the next day and apologized (something she never did) because she said "i don't know how you feel you were married a sh*** time and he was young i was married a long time and he was old"
i told her that she both did know and didn't know because all grief is exactly the same and unique at the same time
bbl, gotta go to school
bye sue
that is so sweet! And so true. When people die young, we tend to feel more anger. Maybe the grief is sort of the same, but no... when somebody dies in his 90s, it is easier to feel a bit of peace over it, right?
bye sue, have a good day
well you still miss them and you still go through the same stages of anger and sadness and resignation and peace
maybe she felt more anger because she was more used to having him around than i after 11 years only
who knows
my grandparents were together until in their 80s and then my grandmother died. I remember my grandfather saying that being the one who must go on living without the other, was the last thing he could do for her.
how sweet
yeah, that is possible too, jmc. I know that the process of going through mourning is the same for everyone. But the feelings are not, I think. Each person travels a different road.
i have never thought about it that way
that was my point sprite: it is the same; it is unique
no, I will always remember that. It is true, isn't it. And a good way to look at it.
They had been married for over 60 years.
i have thought that my last gift was trying to let some of his ideas be part of how i raised my boy
that's it, jmc :)
my hubby died on the 11th anniversary of the day we met :-) worth every minute
that is beautiful as well, jmc.
I ha4 to go, but I must. *hugs* for my babble friends. See you again soon!

i just noted anniversary dates/deaths. My mother died on my parent's 48th wedding anniversary
my daughter asked "grandpa" if she could get married on their 50th to bring happiness back to the date
What a beautiful thought from your daughter, JMitch
Dad and I sniffled and snorted most of the day....but happy!
Those "golden moments" from our kids are priceless.
Good morning all :0
Hello jmitch -- pleased to meet you. May I also express my sympathy on your mother's passing -- we are all missing her.
Hi Nan. I don't think JMitch and FMitch are related. Just similar user names.
oh -- thought they were related -- especially when jmitch was talking about mother passing! Come to think of it, FMitch lived in England, didn't she?
Yes, and FMitch was too young to have had a 48th wedding anniversary. : )
right
not sure what age FMitch was though -- always thought she was around by age -- guess not!
I believe she was in her early 50's.

Hello Everybody. How are you all tonight?
Hi Nef
((((((NEF)))))))) How in the world are you?
first time here today; 3 days of small grids! I hope this one is fairly easy...
Nef have a look and get the CH ending
it is not..for me anyways
May I please have a clue for ro6-21? Thanks
(((peach!))) I'm doing okay. THey brought ALL of Aunty's household stuff and furniture on Thurs. and I finished opening the last box at noon today. Our dtr is moving into the condo so lots of stuff is gone; still sorting things out
herin, I see the CH ending; am now looking for a word that might need it!! :-)
Enough of them Nef I just spotted it
I fouts an ma5 with a ch ending!
... h5
... and that should get you 4 of the 7's too

Pickles, don't give up yet! You need to play til you're addicted
Pickles hi
Hi pickles!
Hey there, Pickles.
Can someone do my shopping PLEASE
oh, think i'm addicted. i just can't finish a puzzle
sorry, herin; I hate to shop too
Pickles; how long have you been playing?
a couple weeks i think
how many do you have left, pickles?
I don't mind going to the grocery store it is the MMMMMMMMMmmum scream scream scream old people dithering about that pisses me off
46 left
you can do it! just ask for clues
i don't mind shopping if i don't have to pay
Wow, I just monkeyed the 8!
i like spending other people's money too!
"herin, shop late in the evening after us old folk are in bed! ;-)
what's monkeyed?
wtg. UU
... well done ... almost everyone else today ... including me has used the clues
wtg, sue!
monkeys are your fingers, and if you just let them fly, you'd be surprised at what words you'll get
... infinite monkeys will eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare ... and every babble grid
Nef I don't mind Grocery shopping it is the fact I have to go to the mall (shopping centre) to do it. We usually go to the store not attached to teh stores
gotya
I had the stats for it, though...
ALso known as I am grump
i only got one 7 letter word
if i have to go shopping i do it as early as i can. not as many people out. the elderly aren't there, and neither are kids
tr7, anagram of lit sticks carried in the night.
We usually go to a butchers that is no were near the main stores. Christmas is a PITA. Why do you think I mean plan and buy for a month
Watching Fred Astaire in Holiday Inn, great fun!
personally, if I had my druthers; I'd never shop. Going to a mall is the worst punishment someone could give me! I don't mind people; I just HATE the experience of malls and being marketed at (if there is such a thing)
ma7's are past tense and plural of the ma5...fire sticks or a pair
Nef the thing is I don't ahve a car. I have to go to the place that has everything
ha7's rhymes with the ma7's
O I think i have just worked out the best way to not go out today
(((herin))) then you are pretty much stuck
Yep or procrastinate
ha7.32...ha + the United *****s of America
that's an idea! :-)
**sneaks in** (((everything online, if you can't get it delivered, you don't need it))) **sneaks out**
If the chicken has been in the coldest part of the fridge for about 4 days should be ok?

very true, stid (and Hi!)
Cooked.
It is the carcus of it.

Should be fine, herin
ahh, make soup
brb, need some tea
had to stop and brush my dogs teeth
Making some chicken stock?
Amen, stid, amen!
That is the plan. It is going into the OM feed an army size pot.
lady: http://earner.hubpages.com/hub/Reheati ng-Chicken-Is-It-Dangerous gives the internal temp you need to reheat ot
huge pot of soup is a great idea!
oh, and I'd eat it, stid...
Not reheating it just boiling the hell out of it to make a stock
Fresh Chicken stock is the best thing every. I hate buying stock
I used to make stock and freeze it, was really good
I can't stand the salt content in the store bought stuff
making stock is a great idea. We have some in the freezer from the last chicken we cooked.
Nothing gets wasted here
sounds like a plan to me... Who here turned me on to making my own veggie stock? I buy deli style pint containers and freeze it...
I love home made stocks! I never manage to get any frozen, though. We seem to eat it as fast as I make it
i just need 3 more 7 letter words
My dad has Brent buying chicken parts on sale and making his own stock
I need one more 7-letter and 22 others...
hi everyone
makes things so much easier and lower sodium than store-bought...
I got lucky yesterday and picked up 500g of strawberries that I will jam
Hi Jen
hey jen
Go, go, Pickles! You can do it! Are you using Lickety's list (if there is one today?)
May I please have a clue for ro6-21? Thanks
Has BEEN buying chicken. No Brent in his life.
Ame when you make risotto it is too salty if you use the store ones with salt.
Sue I get you.
good for you! I froze some strawberries last summer, didn't have the energy to can while they were in season.
thanks for all your help. bedtime for me see you tomorrow
sweet dreams pickles
peach, it's a man's name that is slang for a handgun...
ro 6 is like a southern man's name -- I think there was someone with that name in dukes of hazzard
I just jam strawberries. I put a splash of Chartreuse when there was some in the house.
I have about 14 gallons of white grapes from our vine in the freezer waiting for me to make jelly -- all I need is for life to slow down a bit.....
Night Pickles
Thanks much, amelu and stidmama.
I made these cookies that had coconut in them Sadly coconut tastes iky cooked

my youngest grandbaby (15 mos) pointed his finger at me a couple of weeks ago and said "oo ut up"... heh, don't know where he's getting that from *rolls eyes* I was in the process of telling him 'No'...
hi jmc! Welcome! :-)
i so would smack a kid for that!
hahaha amelu
lots of tequila before i got here
Nef then I can get house work done
i'd be smacking the parent who says that.
hic
no no just enough for attention not enough to hurt
little ones are indeed mimics. The child wouldn't say what she didn't hear
My friends 6 year old screamed Open the Fking door the other day. She just ignored him
butt smackin' with a heavily padded diaper. yup mostly noise!
well i think the most important lesson is to learn that life is a double standard
i never said the f word in front of my mother even though i say f a duck all the time
my oldest nephew (now 40 years old) use to say f*** when he say any trucks! so, you kinda have to decide what they are really trying to say before administering any discipline
i never swore before a judge or a congressman
true true lbd
I blushed saying shit in front of my mother the other day when she was here because my cat scratched my table
a slip is not the same
lbd so true! baby2bit say "shit down" a lot
i so am not finding the tr6
*says
FW! Finally! Didn't list until I was down to 16, so not too bad... any clues needed?

whoo hoo ame!
woo hoo amelu!
whoooo hooooo Amelu!!
how about the mo8?
lbd, that was my son as a toddler! He once got all excited on a bus and yelled F***, F***, F***!! at the top of his lungs when a huge semi went by the bus. Rush hour traffic; and that bus was totally silent for a few seconds after he yelled that. I had to do the "Oh, what a big TRUCK!" thing (I was SO embarrassed!)
s's are hard for little kids to say. often comes out th or sh.
Nef you can tell the difference though
D's Dipped! 4 left
starts out like the russian capital Mo**ow + opp of love, dan
someone clued earlier: first part of Russian capital + extreme dislike... mo8
yeah my boy said f*** to the bus driver but fortunately he had a boy of his own and understoof

ahh, here we say snap, you owe me a coke.
thanks jmc
jmc, how about a throat tr 6/24 (which is similar to a cough drop)
in dc they say jinx and start counting what ever number they get to before you say jinx they get to punch you
jmc. anagram torch and add a vowel at the end.
ty lbd

I am done! I have fireworks! tr7/36 was my last word

I am fine. I am slowly thinkging about what needs doing about the house
YAY, MIN! WTG!!!
and Yah min on your fiW
and good for you, herin!
de6 please? and yay min!
I'd be grateful for a clue for the de6 (for fireworks!)
I second that clue
that's actually a third
Got it! de + plant prefix! Fireworks!
Thanks
de6/24:de + ****iculture (the cultivation of a garden, orchard,or nursery;the cultivation of flowers, fruits, vegetables, or ornamental plants) Dorens and Roses6.
Nef you know what is awesome in this house
Congratulations Roses6 on your fireworks!Way to go!
Thanks Min. Especially glad that I found the last word by myself!
Not that I know what it means (at least not yet).
thanks min
what, herin?
Rosemarry bush
We have one out the front
whoooo hooooo roses
Looked it up. Interesting that ****iculture is related to 'cultivating the 'urge', which I guess means the natural organicity of a plant to grow and fulfill itself. I love that idea!
Hi Roses
whoooo hoooooo MIN!!
Hi herin!
WOW! I bet that smells terrific after a rain! We have a terregon plant that's outside our bedroom window; but the plant falls over and doesn't have much smell; plus I don't use terragon much in cooking
It does. Specially when it goes in the chicken stock
So the de6 means to dissuade. It's very cool. And the best thing about rosemary, for us, is that it is totally deer resistant.
Two conversations at once. well, one was with myself, but still. Off to gather some supper. Back for the flip.
Thanks Rose
Roses, I was reading your comments, but responding in the wrong box and I can't spell for s*** tonight
Te 5 first one please
Never mind found it. I am done. And off to clean the house
YAY, herin!!! WTG!!!
A te 5/12 is te plus anagram of feline herinfernallady.
Congratulations herinfernallady on fireworks!Hooray!
Thanks thanks
Goodbye herinfernallady! I'll see you tomorrow maybe
I am ogg
off even
whoooo hooooo HERIN!!
I am following herinfernallady out the exit door! Bye!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
night, Min. and i'm off to my pillows too. see you all tomorrow.
OK bye bye bye
Thanks, amelu, for the clue earlier......a friend of mine from KY called.....I'm down to 2 now.
niters, herin, Min and lbd!
ta4-5 please.....thanks
You can do it, peach! Go, go,
sorry, peach, I don't have it yet but am looking
you can ta 4/5 some animals
ta + 1st person pronoun
(I'm having severe lag here; sorry)
Thanks, Nef. I'm still working on it. I know I will feel foolish when I see it.
peach you can ta** some animals, but others are wild no matter how hard you try
Yes, m' dear, I have that one as ta4-5.
the 2nd, I should say.
then there is the old goat ta** (2 consonents) which isn't ta**d
Nef, I don't think I said ta4-5 the 1st. Sorry.
well the 1st is also an animal; an old world goat
ta + female pronoun - the middle vowel (an e)
Thank so much, Nef. The pl. of that made Fireworks.
YAY, peach!!! WTG!!!
I'm almost too tired to type. Thanks for all the help. I'll see you all at the flip.
niters, peach..
hey babbleland
hi onyx. I think they all went to bed already
not that late here
oh and hi neff
not that late here either; but it's a small grid and although there are some tough words at times; it isn't an impossible grid
(I have 20 left to find, though; so they may be the toughy's
i'm just trying too blow off some steam but i might actually finish this one
you need to blow off steam so you play word games?
yeah. i'm twisted like that. keeps me occupied. don't have to think.
at least i am channeling my thoughts
I need to think to play. But as I'm tired, my typing gets worse and worse
Hello
I finished this afternoon but had errands to do
Hi Jilli. How are you feeling today? (I read about your shingles yesterday)
hi jilli
just got here myself
hi Bugs
Hi bugs -- good to see you.
hi NEf
I am hoping to be back now on a much more regular basis. I missed everyone!
Nef, I decided not to go to bridge and follow my friend's advice to take it easy. I had a lot of errands to do today so that I can just stay home and veg for abit.
Bugs, I did invite you to email me if you wanted to vent or anything...
have you not been well jilli?
what's going on, Bugs?
I know you did. ou are a good friend but the funny emails did wonders for me. thank again
Bugs, I have shingles. #$%&@!
And jilli; it's important to take care of yourself right now. You made a good decision of not trying to do too much in a day.
Thanks , nef. I know you know whereof you speak.
way too much to vent it all here but thanks for caring Nef. Most days I was too stressed to think about anything except emptying my mind or working on solving what was in my control to solve.
Oh jilli my Dad and my best friend had those. That is horrible!
Bugs, did you retire from your job as you thought about?
I'm hoping we've nipped the shingles in the bud by getting anti-viral meds withing 24 hours.
I did not get the paperwork I needed to file for a CPP pension until two weeks ago so I am going to retire at the end of this school year. I can't live without some income.
I had a neighbor with shingles and developed the post Herpetic Neuralgia. He lost nearly half his total body weight; they lasted for well over a year (when he died of another problem)
I hope so too!
I didn't even know that was possible Nef. How horrible
That usually works if you start it in time, jilli. Sending you healing thoughts and prayers
Nef, I have a friend who had a dreadful case of shingles a year ago last November -- so bad she was hospitalised for 2 weeks. She is still on pain-killers for post-herpetic neuralgia. It's scary, and I don't want that fate so am doing my best to avoid it.
Bugs, that's a beautiful icon for FM.
I don't blame you. Ted was oin oral morphine for the last 6-8 months of his life; his wife would call me over to check on him when she was worried
I did not hear about it until a couple of nights ago when I began to play again. I was shocked
(((Hugs for Bugs))) hey again all
Yay stidmama is here too!
It was a shock to me too, bugs. Some time ago FM and I had a bit of email correspondence -- she was going to go and see the place where I used to live. Then I didn't hear any more.
Hi stid! Did you have a good day?
ineed a clue!
hi again, stid. BBS; gotta check on a loud noise!
can u share it onyx
I did, Jill -- no work, but I got several things accomplished that I wanted to do. Sorry about the shingles, Jill. And glad you are here Bugs and onyx and all
a clue for what, onyx?
second co 5 for 14
I have two co 5/14, anagrams of each other
one is spy writing, the other is females attending college
2nd co5/14 -- college girls
(pl of the previous word)
ty stid
oh duh i have it!
thanks everyone
yw onyx
go onyx go!
ima trying
back. DH had stumbled into some furniture and knocked it over; but he didn't fall or get hurt (thank goodness!)
poor DH. must be sooooo frustrating
Oh boy, nef! Glad he wasn't hurt!
oh, so glad it wasn't something serious!
this place is improving, but it still looks like a hoarders' paradise.
stidkid #2 knocked a chair over yesterday, scared the BGs out of me!
Why is it like that, nef?
He needs 2 surgeries; they tried cortisone injections that didn't work; so Thurs. he goes to the knee surgeon; then after the knee surgery, he'll have a laminectomy
what is a laminectomy?
Aunty's household goods and furniture were delivered here last Thurs. jilli
taking a layer of bone away?
we are sorting through it all; the kids are taking what they want (as are we) and then we will donate and give away the rest
Oh wow, nef -- that can make things a bit crowded, yes.
sorry, a laminectomy is when you have a herniated spinal disc; they cut away some of the bone to ease the pinching on the spinal cord
I am glad you are able to go through it in a sort of leisurely way, Nef -- so hard to be logical about what gets kept when one is in a hurry
Laminectomy is a spine operation to remove the portion of the vertebral bone called the lamina. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laminecto my
wow. down to 13 now.
I am doomed. 54 left and no Expert becausae it wont load
well, it threw our DIL into a bad spell again. (our dtr calls her BSC -bat-s**** crazy- when she goes off like that)
Why won't it load, bugs?
Nef...hope the laminectomy works well for him. My hubby had that and it has been like a miracle for him. He couldn't walk 10 yards without having to sit down because of the pain. Now he can walk a couple of miles. No pain...just needs to build up his stamina again
no idea. it just says the site doesn't exist and we know it does
oh man, Nef.
hey tabby
wow tabbycat! that sure worked
did you try re-installing it, bugs?
I can't install it. I just type in the address that used to work and now it wont
well, down to 11 and my personal timers (eyelids) are telling me it's time to sleep.
Hi Sti
aww, stid -- only 11 to go and you're quitting???
you are sure good at this stid. I hope you get a good sleep and have a job by morning
Down to 10 here and my personal timers are giving the same message
I'll see you-all again soon, and hopefully I'll be more awake then! *poof*
tabby; I'm hoping and praying that he will have a good outcome; but with his MS I doubt that he won't be able to walk that far again. But if he can just DO stuff again it will help
sleep well, stid
good night, stid
Nef...just being able to stand up to take a shower or fix a sandwich would be great.
so true, tabby. :-)
just going to check email and change icons -- back soon for the flip
i will be here
I"ve never heard of a lamenectomy
be thankful, ruru. here's a link that jilli posted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laminecto my
Fireworks...off to bed now. Best of luck with the surgeries, Nef
OUCH.. that sounds scary
niters, tabby!

tabby
good luck with that nef
thanks, ruru; but it's DH, not me this time!
