hi! how's the grid?
there are threeRE 8's and they are driving me crazy...I have not found one yet
grid itself is not bad
hmmm, might have to look for those...
Buttonman, think of those who are sorry, build on re6/21
And good morning/evening all.
thanks, Haz, got two and working on the third
The third one is re plus a domesticated animal plus a word 'to finish'.
thanks, Haz! got 2 from that, is the 3rd also from that one?
It almost looks like re plus the word children use for 'imagine' but take out the r.
oh, I see it now, yay, morewords - very similar. thanks again!
You're welcome - and yes, thank you morewords.
thanks haz, can you clue the 9 for nbs and nbt
I don't have the 9 as yet, Jiving, sorry.
Have you scrolled back through the chat log? There's usually a hint or two there.
thanks, i'll try that
its an en 9/60
Thanks, dizgrannie.
Haz, I got the two 8's that have to do with sorrow but I still can't get the other one. Could you please give me another clue?
Okay, re8/50 - first four letters as with the other sorrowful words, then what you might do to look after a garden or a word that means an inclination.
en 9 - french steak
hi
Thanks, saphyre, that word was in the grid not that long ago.
thanks, diz and saph! *looking*
yw :)
thanks, got it Haz
Great, glad it worked, Buttonman.
thants saphyre
yw
good morning everybody
Good morning, ruby.
hello all
Hello, ursh.
hi, ruby, hi, ursh!
wow, haz, thank you, you gave me a great start!
{{rbud}}
{{ursh}} has yur weather calmed down?
Buttonman started me on the search for the bigger ones, so thanks to him for that.
thank you buttonman, wherever you are!
Ruby - yes the cyclone just caused very heavy rain for us last Sunday and some of Monday and has since settled
did you have any flooding?
damage?
Still no word of Max - and no serious damage here but quite a bit further north
no word of Max, I am sure he went off into the shrubbery somepace and died but, happily, the new chow puppy is being delivered from Italy tomorrow morning. His name is Ruffino (Rufie) and I am hoping that he can cheer up my horribly depressed husband
it is all very sad, but I have to keep things together and running
I can imagine a black chow puppy would cheer up even the lowest of spirits - have fun
the new boy is still beige and curly, but I am sure he will darken up as his puppy fur grows out and his face is very black. He's gorgeous
I wouldn't get another black chow as neither of our two has been normal
My sister had a beautiful rottweiler call Rufie (Rufous) and he was a sweetie
we had a wonderful male named Rufus who lived to be 10, so Ruffino is named partly for him (and partly because he's Italian)
I have several friends who love Rottweilers. I've only known one, he was a sweetie who thought I was HIS sweetie and, since he was a lot bigger than I, u hoh is all I can say
Husband's birthday tomorrow - have enormous leg of lamb in oven for a lunch with kids later today
nice. Is the lamb halal? We buy halal lamb here and find it much better than what we got in the US
I'm making duck for the Italians who are bringing the dog
Yes large Indian community in Durban so all meat is halal or is it halaal
don't know the spelling, but the lamb is wonderful
what are you serving with it?
Time to go, enjoy the grid!
bye haz
old fasioned Sunday lunch - roast potatoes - cauliflower cheese, green beans, rice and gravy
sounds wonderful! and desert? homemade birthday cake? lol
oh and butternut squash
<-- loves butternut squash but not available in France
desert = homemade bought ice cream and bar one sauce
barone?
bar one?
bar one?
barone = choc noughat toffee bar melted down with cream
dimd nel, this AM
I'm just gained a KG, reading about your dinner!
I'm drooling, but I can't eat, had a tooth pulled... all I can do is dream of good food for now, so this works for me, lol!
{{rbud}}
We are lucky in that our 2 daughters live nearby and son still at home (but away in Joburg this weekend) so we are sharing the cooking - I am doing meat and gravy and one daughter doing potatoes and veg and other daughter doing desert and eating at daughter's hoouse which is just up the road
ouch rosebud
how nice for you to have family nearby!
you, Annie and my DIL all had teeth pulled this week. What's going on?
so many friends have kids living overseas - so we are truly lucky
it takes 23 hours to reach my son in Austin
debating whether to go ahead and get the last three out, give up on my partial, and go full bottom denture. didn't want to, I hear they are harder to keep in. but I'll see what the dentist thinks this week.
hard decision, rbud!
a friend of my husband is going to join us - his wife died a year ago - one daughter lives in UK one daughter lives in Australia and his son in Switzerland
that is nice, including your friend
I would like to be done with toothaches, heehee!
gosh, our two kids still live in our house, if only they'd move out, would be a thrill!
send them over here, I could use the company!
ages 20 and 24, and we're too soft hearted to just kick 'em out, though I've often wanted to.
I hope that they help you and do some cooking, etc.
I have had alot of dentists make me a lower plate and never could wear them. I am 67 and started wearing dentures at 18 I can eat any thing
when my son visits, once or twice a year, he is a whirlwind of help (unfortunately, criticism, too)
Ha! very little.
really, bekki? you eat without the bottom ones, are you saying? I had a friend who had no teeth for years, the man could eat steak, corn on the cob... don't know how he did it. He finally has some now, looks much better.
I'm going nuts with nothing but liquids, soup, mashed potatoes... can't wait till I can chew again!
that's amazing! I am really compulsive about my teeth. Constantly brushing, flossing, etc
I can eat both and walnuts
wow!
you are amazing, bekki!
son still at home is 25 and finished university 18 months ago - went to work in Miami for 6 months then back and tried personal training but found it boring so now has just started a new job as a medical rep and hopefully will go "solo" as he calls it by the end of this year - yay - but I will miss him terribly - he makes me laugh often which I love
did he like Miami? I imagine he found the climate similar to Durban
alot of people don't know I have no lower teeth
until you bite them, lol
haha! I have had mine out for days, no one seems to notice much. Guess I only smile with the top ones.
I don't bite I punch
uh oh.....
yes ruby he like Miami - but was waitering at a country club and found the clientele rich and spoilt
I loved Miami and still miss the ocean but not the climate
we lived in Florida for a couple of years, I didn't like it much. No dirt, all sand. :P
we had a Cuban friend there, who, when he was young, tended bar at a country club and used to "tamper" with people's drinks.....
"tamper" dare we ask? :\
I like the seasons here and the dramatic difference in day lengths
i think my son would have sometimes liked to "tamper" with their food
you'd rather not know, but he found the clientele spoiled and condescending, too
ewwww, but can't say I haven't had a similar thought or two in my various food service and cocktail waitress jobs.
mostly all jobs on my list of ones never to do again.
half and nbs but no bottom o and Miss Ruby and husband both need me. Trying to cheer husband up....will make him his Campari and try to smile
(((ruby)))
i think most waiters/kitchen workers could tell alwful stories about what goes on
{{rbus}} no biting!
I can't, darnit! ;p
I think you're right, ursh, like food on the floor and back on the plates and much worse, I'm sure
*poof*
oh, for sure, I quit a job once because the owner wanted us to scrape some spilled hot dogs off the floor under the stoves, rinse them off, and serve them.
it was nasty down there!
lol rbud - i heard story about bleeding into the fruit salad - thank heavens was in the 70's and aids was not such an issue
I was young, carefree, and knew I could get another job in a snap. not so easy these days, but I still wouldn't serve those dogs to anyone!
I also quit a job as a cocktail waitress, hated the jerks with the grabby hands. now those guys deserved some "tampering"
yuck rbud - the more they drink the grabbier they get
and the other girls said "but you get better tips if you let 'em!" well, forget that!
I've never liked drunks or bars, maybe that's partly why
snap on the drunks rbud
when I drove the taxi here for five years, I hired the former owner to work friday and saturday nights, he got along with drinkers, I had no patience with them. I liked the old babes and fellows in the daytime, he didn't. worked out well.
yes i suppose taxi drivers really see it all
love the independent older ladies, and they liked me. dependable, clean car, slow driver, helped with groceries... hope I can find help like me when I get to where I need it. :)
guess the former owner scared the ladies, took them a while to relax when I took over. he was sort of an aggressive driver.
the other taxi owners in nearby towns told me I was nuts to be open at all at night, none of them were. wonder how the barflies got home in those towns, hate to think.
oh, good, Dee has a list, was hoping so.

wrong box to type in, Leaf! :)
good job, though, you're on a roll
You are only allowed to type in the chatlog words that we don't have
Good evening all
omg SORRY
don't know how the cursor got there :(
ty lynxx :S
Its OK - we all do it - and not just one time
man, I could not figure out why it wasn't taking the words I was typing LOL
yay, got all the 7's, it's all downhill from he4
Must go...bye all
hi and bye, lynxxx
hello again
oh, hi, ruby - was nosed into the grid, and just got fireworks, whew!
(thanks to Dee's list)
I'm not close but will struggle along
just made rataouille for tomorrow's guests
hello - does lickerty not do the list anymore?
hello trisha
hi there rubyfoo
lickety's sort of on a break, but sometimes his wife pops in and does it - but I guess she's not going to for a little while, too busy, I think I read.
ah ok thanks :)
we've been muddling along with lists from early finishers like Volleymomdee's, where I got mine for this one.
where are you in SA, trisha?
oh rbud well done :) I struggle without the ist
Rubyfoo I live just outside Durban
hey, I see Jac put the list in Babbler's Anonymous tonight, how nice!
Rubyfoo - quite close to where Ursh lives but have not met her yet
I've been i PE a number of times, but never had the chance to go to Durban :(
<-- loves SA!
Oh why to PE?
:) yes it is a brilliant country - used to live in the netherlands
we imported glass from PGG but we're both retired now
we still have friends there, but mostly around Johannesburg
my son now lives in Johannesburg - would not like to live there myself. I have never lived away from the sea.
you are in France?
I miss the sea since we lived in Miami before he** in the mountains. But we have 4 true seasons he** and it largely makes up for it
yes, small village and very beautiful
nice people
my husband and i will be in France in May for 2 weeks, a break from visiting family in Holland
where are you going in France?
is Afrikans ea** for you, knowing Dutch?
flying to Nice then driving to Avignon and area for a few days and then a week in Mougins
sounds like a lovely trip and your weather should be perfect!
Durban is predominantly English speaking
or urdu lol
hopefully the weather will be good, does not have to be hot as we have enough of that, it must just not rain
LOL the Indian community also speak English here, then we have Zulu
I think May is probably the best month; we always have houseguests then.... :(
Xhoas, too?
this year, DIL is coming
xhosa*
Xhosa is more south of Durban
aaah
showing my ignorance, sorry
we have 11 official languages lol
no is definitely not ignorance :) only stupid people don't ask questions
that is amazing! how many languages do you know? and Dutch people usually have several, too
Home language is English but speak Dutch, Afrikaans and a smattering of zulu
better than me!
have never been able to grasp French lol and don't think I ever will no matter how hard I try
nice talking to you trisha but it's nap time for me
I had a lot of French in school but only learned to speak well after we moved here
Had no choice
bye rubyfoo :)
and I have a poopy accent
husband is shy
bye
but you get understood
and that is the main thing
oh yes and I understand almost everything now, even TV and movies!
and they are so appreciative when a foreigner makes the effort
have you lived in france long?
since '98 Nov
oh wow that is a while, clearly you happy there
just getting old.....
and I miss working
:) getting old is for the tough
it is really beautiful and I love the long spring
hahah, amen
*poof*
what does the 9 start with?
probably re i suppse
have no idea, I don't have any of the big words
it is an extension of the re6 hurshy
which re6??
re6 of your sins
hmm, i have two 8s coming off that but can't puzzle out the 9

Hursh, I just made pancakes, want some?
yes thank you
i have a much bad cold
other re8 in the cluster... you mean a 3rd that comes near the sorry ones?
Yes. *Makes hot tea with honey and lemon for Hursh*
may i have a clue?
Ends like what shepherds do to sheep
morning Molly and Hurshy and any others lurking.
thanks for that clue Molly
hmmm
i think i must be thinking of the wrong word.
living in cattle country, one wonders about what those shepherds do with those sheep!
gm, everyone

Imagination is let's pre****
thanks, i was thinking you meant he4 and i couldn't twist to that nohow
hi nono. ty for the list.

ah indeed thanks
it's always the first thing I do if no Lickety's then i have it at hand when I'm ready for it
Having to live without Lickety *SIGH* it's very helpful to have lists in several people's profiles. Makes it easier to find and easier to direct people to.
I want to add my thanks as well, thanks to Nono and Molly for the times they put the list in their profiles. I know I wouldn't be able to finish without them. Thanks very much.

hi Ruby
hey, ruby :-)
and nono :-)
hi Une
gotta go back to unloading car -- back in a bit *poof*
AAAHHHH. This is my on-call weekend and I just finished a call with a mother who wanted to discuss head lice. Yep, a Sunday morning emergency.
do they still use Kwell?
Good morning Scrabs
Scrabbs, you must have a lot of patience to deal with these parents who think every little thing is an emergency.
hi ruby and scrabs
Ruby have you heard anything on Max?
Simplest, safest treatment is non-drug one--Cetaphil gentle cleanser on to hair at night, blow dry, rinse in morning, repeat 1 wk and 2 wks later.
pictures molly talking "sense" to that mother on the phone!
or give the kid a perm - kills the lice and burns the nits
no, I'm afraid Max is in dog heaven. Husband and I just had ANOTHER good cry over his loss.
But tomorrow Ruffino arrives and perhaps we'll be able to smile again
Yes, Molly, I wanted to say, "Now this is not an emergency and this type of question is most appropriate for when the office is open. But I would have felt mean.
*Still keeping the faith about Max*
soooo very sorry (((ruby))))
mean is sometimes good, scrabbler!
{{molly}}
ahhh good. Am glad you are getting a new pup
Oh, no, Ruby. I am so sad for Max and you.
could of just said, ' You know, I don't usually tell people to BE nitpickers, but in this case...'
it has really been terrible and I appreciate, enormously, all the support I've had in he**
husband and I were talking about just that; he has no support group, just has to handle his sadness alone
Ruby we have all suffered the lose of a pet and know the sorrow it brings
Haha, Welki.
it's the best i could come up with this early :)
I've known people who say "never again" after losing an animal, but we can't imagine life without dogs
that's why we will always have two
but even the ones who say never again end up with another pet before long
and poor Ruby keeps looking for Max, too, and isn't eating much
I know people who say never again.
I wonder, no no, how anybody could harden his heart sufficiently not to get another
When I put my beloved Majic down when he suffered with cancer several years ago I told myself I need to wait a bit before getting another but I found myself looking at the adds in the paper and adopted an older cat within weeks
oh i don't think it's about hardening the heart, more about being terrified of it breaking again
It is selfish to fear grief and deprive an animal of a wonderful life.
it's hard to say, welki, somehow our hearts heal and although we always miss the "lost" ones, we can love new animals, too
So true.
and seeing my husband inconsolable is, itself, heartbreaking
When we went to see this new cat, the people had a 7 year old daughter who had grown up with the cat and had suddenly developed allergies. I felt sorry for the child having to give up her pet until she told me, "oh by the way she likes to sleep in her litter pan"
then i knew this cat needed to be rescued
hahah, no no, when it was clean, I hope
it wasn
I don't think it's having a hard heart. I think some people realize that they can't go through that kind of loss again.
it wasn't very clean when we were there
and she never slept in it after we took her home
as we go on, the losses just pile up
Yay for rescuing that cat!
but maybe our hearts get bigger
Don't you just train a cat not to sleep in it's litter box?
she was the most adorable tiny thing Scrabs but had a terrible temper LOL
that's a funny idea, a cat with a temper
Molly I have never known a cat to sleep in the litter box
oh Ruby she would hiss at everyone
they are always so clean
I never really trusted her around children
too funny, especially since she was small
It does seem weird Nono. But some people just let their animals do whatever they want.
Good morning!
Maybe she was not given much love by that girl.
Hi Car
morning Car.ee
hello car. How are you feeling?
I think that was the case Scrabs
by the entire family really
Except cramps that could stop a buffalo, I am fine!
it's like an untouched baby
Ruby...any word on the new pup
Oh man, I'm dedicating "Lookin' For Love In All The Wrong Places" to that cat then.
Ruffino is arriving tomorrow
Hooray! I am so pleased! Congratulations!
I love that name.
*Passes Car the extra strength Tylenol and the heating pad*
he is very handsome and looks like our first chow, Rosie
Bless you Molly!
I am supposed to weigh in this morning, but I think I may put it off a day.
I see we have another day of twisty E's!
Bottom row is grey. I'm sizzling today.
it's a great grid!
have just changed my icon to a picture of Kristy the witchy woman cat
I'll never change my icon from Max
<-- never sizzles
Ruffino is adorable, Ruby!
Go Baby!
hello again. hey car. I forgot to set my clocks ahead, and thus missed church. and you know who will NEVer let me live it down
What a beautiful pup Ruffino is
Well, the entire Babble village, silly Trif!
Mom is still asleep.
She is fine. We have checked on her and taken the dog out. This is the third day she has "slept in". I am keeping an eye on it.
she is!!!??
Oooh! come with me to Sanctuary this afternoon and go to church then!!!!
maybe she has finally figured out how much fun a good lie in is!
Snap! Bottom row also grayed!
Needless to say, we are not going to church either.

I wonder when the time changes he**
Car, you are hot today!
Go Ruby!
oooph, a helicopter just flew past, lower than the house, very creepy
must be some fool stuck on the cliffs
and now they'll be circling for hours looking
♫ ♪ That's why I'm EA**! I'm EA** like Sunday Morning...♪ ♫
An emergency, Ruby? When a helicopter is over our small village we know that it is picking up a sick patient at our little hospital.
I hate when they fly so low Ruby. They do it here when ever a prisoner escapes from local prison camp
Are there many escapees?
Oh goodness!!!!!
inexperienced climbers tend to break bones and get stuck up in these cliffs; there have even been some fatalities
inexperienced climbers tend to break bones and get stuck up in these cliffs; there have even been some fatalities
not in recent years Scrabs, since they became a "shock" camp
OK...Now I am buggin'! A helicopter is over this way flying by....
No helicopter here, but I saw a mosquito.
lol scrabbs!
yikes rather early in the year for those buggers
Hahahaha. I had to say it.
Yes, I asked him why he is here in March.
well done, well timed :)
8 ) that is one big mosquito!
Welki! Good morning!
and what did he answer?
hi car :)
Saw a redwing blackbird this morning, rather early for them too
my computer keeps getting stuck; I'm going to wear out the refresh button
welki, I saw a news story on ice fishermen stranded on an ice floe on Lake Simcoe, Ontario.
Ruby, the mosquito said he was especially hardy and spent the winter here.
the birds we feed are all getting their "dating" plumage after being drab all winter
yes have noticed that with the gold finches at my feeder
I wonder why hereas isn't accepted today?
see you later, friends
Good morning Cyber!
Oooh! Found an 8!
happens every year, scrabbs - even here, with the crazy warm/cold temps we've had, there are folks still driving on the ice ... and falling in (sometimes with fatal consequences)
... it wasn't one guy ... it was a group ... of I think about twenty guys
bye ruby
The goldfinches here are turning yellow and losing their drab, dirty look.

en9 - starts like the main course and ends in pigeon house
which EN for the EN9 if anyone has it?
got it, kje, thanks! nbs and nbt!
I do like Redbox. They raised the prices twenty cents or so. That still makes it a $1.20 rental, which is reasonable.
it's the top right e, mlfan
mlf, starts with first E in 4th column
good morning everyone
hi flosey!
ty. nbs and fireworks.

yay crossy!
molly we have two of them here:)
redbox does not exist in da great white north..yet
really?
really
we are trill trying to get used to target and starbucks:)
cross how are you liking those so far?
Redbox is everywhere here. In grocery stores, and outside of drug stores and convenience stores.
I need a pill to get me through my daughter's adolescence.
do not drink coffee, and the targets are under contruction, they wiped out a bunch of our old zellers stores for them
Go ask Alice, Kap.
We had a movie store here for rental but it wen out of business. I have been dying to try Redbox
no, really. I hate this age.
and i do not do wally mart.up here they have a nasty habit of wiping out all the nice little independant stores down town
Hey guys could someone please give me a hint for en 9 60? It's my last one and I am stuck.
cross you can get hot chocoate or tea there as well
doesn't stop when adolescence ends, either, unfortunately, kap
too $$$ mlfan
and some milkshake type drinks too
they do that everywhere crossy and then they discontine the product of the store they wiped out! arggg
No, but the prefrontal cortex is more developed by age 22.
cross very true and the raised their prices again
16 and 17 is all limbic system.
All our movie rental stores are gone. So it's either Redbox, Netflix (which has never impressed me) or AmazonUnbox.
can't see that it's doing my 22-year-old much good, kap
can someone tell me what any of the 8s begin with please?
i didnt know amazon had one? intereting
we still have rogers renting videos, but since they are also one of our monopolisic triads that supply all of our net service, they have shops anyways so they rent the movies
Okay, we are discussing Redbox and I just got a text with a free rental code. Can we now discuss my million dollar lottery winnings? Thanks in advance.
I kind of think Netflix might have a better selection but i might be wrong
My 8's all began with 're-' MLF
we have the rogers/bell/telus monopoly
Molly No lol
pretty funny, molly :-)
Thanks Having
No prob. You have the 9 yet?
Last movie I rented was "J. Edgar". Very interesting take on his life.
having nope cant find that either
Molly had heard that is supposed to be good
for those into downton abbey, i've been doing a series on netflix: larkrise to candleford. Mr. Bates is in it
Just go the En-9 if you need help mlf.

thx having, it's that steak cut again
fireworks thank you all for the help
Having can you clue one of the 8s please>?
there are two that builds off re word
i just got a RE 7

2 of the 8's are something a sinner would do.
And the third 8 is a switcheroo of the letters in that.

So it's not just my kids cat? Everyone's cat walks all over the furniture?
mine certainly do!!
although they mostly stay away from the computers, for whatever reason...
I was so depressed when I bought the kids a dining room set for a wedding gift and then saw the cat on the table. : (
Mine stays away from the computer too; probably because she noticed that I tend to ignore her when absorbed in whatever I am doing there...
Back again. Watching St Bonaventure (local college) vs Xavier in men's basketball.
Help with en9? I have been creative but haven't found it yet.
a cut of beef scrabbs

literal translation from french is between edges

I use the autocorrect on my phone, as the keyboard is small, but it does mean that I have to be careful (or put up with the occasional oddity)
Ty Molly, but still a bit dizzy and not loving the grape righy

Doren, have you seen the doctor about that cough?

Right now. Sorry ru, and I had better go to computer if I'm trying to chat
*Puts fluffy pillow on lounge chair*

Robitussen shooters in the PB!!!!
*leaves doors open for druggie babblers*
*Brings own bottle of Tullamore Dew*
thanks friends... yes have seen doctor... codeine cough medicine (which i try not to take during day), antibiotic (which may be the reason for my dizziness, and not wanting wine)
ugh.. sorry doren..
Okay, healing vibes coming your way Doren.
*drinks wine for doren*
And please don't mention druggies. I am trying to figure out my kids deep love of "Breaking Bad" and failing miserably.
went to friends' last night thinking I could finally enjoy a night out... uncharacteristically did not finish my first glass! Now we know there must be something wrong with me
<--- is such a giver
indeed you are ruru
*Buffs Ru's halo*
<---doesn't know what breaking bad is
and so humble
Well, if you can dig this, it's a show about a high school chemistry teacher who finds out he has terminal lung cancer. So he decides to start cooking crystal meth so he can make big money to leave to his family.
Back--chatting with kje on FB. Doren, the codeine can make you dizzy and sleepy.
It's won all these awards and I haven't figured out why yet.
yes i know scrabs, but how long would the residualbe? didn't take any past friday nite and was dizzy all day yesterday. can augmentin have that effect?
oh.. that's a great story line molly
the cold can make you dizzy too doren
That's what I thought Ru and had no intention of watching it. But my oldest (The Dark Lord) gave me three seasons of it for Christmas.
have heard about the show, but somehow managed to resist the urge to watch (honestly, never had the urge)
well.. isn't that nice
Augmentin won't make you dizzy. It can blow out your intestines though.
What a charming side effect.
*puts up shields for intestinal blow-out*
ah, the cold is pretty much all dried up now... but still headachy and dizzy. oh really scrabbs? Maybe he gave it to me to counteract the effects of the codeine???
(by the way, been on augmentin since friday, no blow outs)
*puts shields down*
and my son the doctor has whisked his family off for a week in the italian alps. i don't understand what is wrong with him
Augmentin is an antibiotic--for bacterial sinusitis.
and it may or may not be helping... the doc was unsure about the need for it, but said if i wasn't feeling better by the end of the week to take it. He had heard some wheezing in my chest. the cough was SOO deep, was scaring people in school when i went back on friday
I would have put you on azithromycin to cover for possible "walking pneumonia" germs--Mycoplasma and Chlamydophila. Augmentin won't treat those.
So if you don't improve in a few days go back to the doctor and tell him that your pediatrician has a plan.
How long have you been sick?
ok that's a plan. It started last Saturday, while I wa up in cambridge babysitting. began as laryngitis and a little sore throat... jumped into lungs on Monday
*prewarns Doren's Pharmacist to be on stand-by
afternoon all! bottom row done
*tells him.. Dr. Scrabs is a real person*
That's how walking pneumonia usually progresses. I get it once yearly. ST--> lose voice--> cough--> coughing brains out + wheezing.
Dan, you are a Babble Superstar!
Hi 2Bit
TY, ruru, for acknowledging my reality.
hmmph! i am surprised at my doc... he is usually right on target.
Doren.. please don't get walking pneumonia.. it's horrible
*Wonders what it's like to be whisked off to the Italian Alps*
<---been a long time since I've been whisked
Doren, one of 2 choices must be made--sinusitis vs lower respiratory tract infection. He chose the former.
<---Only gets whisk-eyed these days
I agree, Molly + Ru.
he sure did. and ru, i will do my best, promise!
Where are all these rich whiskers and why don't I know any of them?
Buys Molly a copy of the Tom Cruise movie: Whisk-y business"
*Plans to apply to be Doren's son's housekeeper*
how about my headache/dizzies scrabb? do they go with the walking pneumonia?
Just from being sick + tired.
I had a fever with the wp
It will be the Maryland version of Mrs. Doubtfire
And how much crystal meth are you using when you break bad?
ROFL
molly, I've offered my services to him as a nanny for his trips, but he seems to always plan them when i have school. These kids have been to Copenhagen, Iceland, Berlin, Paris, England, Swizerland. It is just ridiculous
just wait till Mother's Day Doren.. then let him have it
Phoebe will remember the recent trips, but Levi won't for a few yrs.
<---SERIOUSLY needs to have that much money to burn
*waves arms to get Dorens' son's attention* I'm available!!!
this whole year he has been asking to go back to copenhagen (which was last june)
LOL
Really, when does he whisk his Mother away? HMMM?
I should have been a hotshot MD-PhD, done research and written a lot. Instead I am a lowly pediatrician. we get no respect.
but we loves you scrabs!
molly, he plans these trips to coincide with conferences, so he gets his flight/hotel, etc paid for. Last year he was teaching in Copenhagen for a couple of weeks, then liz and the kids flew over and met him there
You get lots of respect from me Scrabbs.
*buys doren a "I"m with Whisk" t-shirt
You're the bestest pediatrician in the world Scrabs! :) (was that good?)
He really doesn't get paid much (but Liz does - and they spend it on travel. I wish they'd save a bit more to buy a house with nice guestroom/bathroom suite)
I did a lot of that when I was working at CERN, dorens, was a good way to get the kid to see the world - he doesn't remember all of it but it's had a lasting good effect on him, I think
TY Babble Buddies.
Doren, you need to do the Jewish Mother thing better. : P
drop subtle hints like better homes and garden magazines left after you visit, dorens
<---wishes I was a snotty nosed kid.. I'd see scrabs
well he whisked me up to Cambridge last week when he and Liz went down to Baltimore.
I did bring my dad to Switzerland once, when I was there for a year on sabbatical...
Ruru, you would fit right in with my goofy adolescent male patients.
we would all use you as our doc scrabbs, if you lived in the neighborhood.
Babysitting while they plan to move further away from you does not constitute whisking.
Have Jeremy + Liz made a decision about Hopkins?
what dorens said!!!
exactly molly
*Imagines a Babble neighborhood, ala Knots Landing*
yes -- it is a go! They've already decided on the neighborhood they want to buy. roland park, he can ride his bike to school. they've picked out a oreK for Levi which is across the street from the school Phoebe will attend. He is very excited
I'd live on Tanrec Court Molly
i think more like Hooterville, Molly
<----all for hooterville
I want to live next door to ruru. share his fine wines... maybe get breakfast over there (will eat Mrs. Ru's leftovers)
Pettycoat Junction!
Good for them, Doren!
I'd make you brkkie doren

It's an endowed chair, and they've basically promised him full professorship/tenure in a year or two when the next book comes out

wow, that is VERY impressive, dorens!!!
Molly, it isn't really further from me... either exactly the same distance, or a little closer. Never sure if googlemaps is right or not. will know more when I actually drive down there.
*wonders if there is such a thing as a well-endowed chair?*
yes, sue, he is a ridiculously impressive kid. Johns Hopkins Press actually published his first book, --nor sure if that makes a difference, but someone there really likes him

i feel like i need fluffing and folding
*never been fluffed and folded either*
Coming out of lurk to say feel better, Doresn. I love the advice you were given. I had to take the codeine cough medicine because the coughing bruised my rib. Congrats on the Hopkins chair. And now, away with me. HIIIIIII RURURURURURURURU and all.

Well, it is time for my next feeding. BBL.

I do like tattoos. Not Beckham, though. And, I don't have any--if that's your next question.

My aching back knew. :)

i will figure that out someday pam, thanks

A web-based survey of readers of Nuts magazine in late 2006 stirred interest in this notion,[3] which was criticised as unscientific and unreliable.[4][5] It has been suggested that such exaggeration is possibly just as prevalent in women. This condition can only truly be called "man" flu when the sufferer in question has a partner from whom they hope to solicit extra attention to care for their supposedly grievous symptoms. When the sufferer is alone then the condition can only be the common cold or flu.[6][7] However, regardless of any scientific basis, the idea behind man flu has been present in popular culture, and has even been the source of controversy when used in advertising.[8]

People create a list by first finishing the grid and then compiling a list of clues (like Lickety's). It's a lot of work and I appreciate the people who take the time to do it.
Hello Babblers.
The hard part of creating a list is first finishing the grid without a list.
Hi wht!
Basically, once someone finishes, they copy their word list and eliminate all but the fist two letters of each word.
I SO agree Molly...Jaq usually has it...and I just really need the list after awhile...
I can only finish the really easy ones without a list.
*First two letters
A BIG THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US TO THOSE CREATING THOSE WORD LISTS.

Wille Nelson would be good. Or if it includes the rest stops on the NJ Turnpike, maybe you could get Bruce Springsteen.
there is a thought
Ixnay to Springsteen singing country western
oh he could do it! but i have a signed autograph picture of willie nelson with hair as short as wht's
so i vote for willi
"Hope Floats"...what a great premise for a movie. Your husband humiliates you by telling you he's having an affair with your best friend, on a Jerry Springer type TV show. But as a consolation prize, you get Harry Connick, Jr.
is that the plot?
Could be a country-western song.
Pretty much. Sandra Bullock is the unfortunate/fortunate one.
hi folks - following the chat and saw "hope floats." i saw the phrase first in john irving's 'hotel new hampshire'
stats for the e between the r and the p

Great story...former mother-in-law, who can be a ditz at times, was on a flight. She gets to chatting with the gentleman next to her. When they exchange names, he tells her he's John Irving. She says, "You are not, you asshole." Yep, it really was John Irving. : )
'last night in twisted river' took me a while, but once i was into it, i couldn't stop reading ... dont' think i've missed an irving book (still struggling with 'widow for one year')
Clue for the te6,18 after the native American house.

re7/28 pls
Hi all. re8/50 - felt sorry for sins. re8/45 - was sorry for sins. re8/50 - nothing to do with sorrow, unless you hate maths like wot I do - it has something to to with a repeating decimal.
peri, go in again
Hope that helps!
jac, your list helps . . . a lot!!
it did, thanks Jac
Hi jac!
and thanks so much for the list as well....
y/w, Une & peri.
Hi Jilly.
*Wonders why one would want to repeat a decimal*
ty Une
yw :-)
I'm with you there, Molly, but decimals seem to repear ad infinitum.:-((
Jilly - y.w re the list.
*reappear, I meant.
Repear: Peel another one, because the first one was too mushy
Mind you, I mind not have been wrong typing 'repear', since everything goes pear-shaped when I try to get to complicated with maths.:-(
LOL Molly!
Jac, there are math people and there are word people. We are the word people.
you can be both!
I was a math person until I hit calculus!
okay, gotta take a break....r's are almost done.....
Une - Logarithms worked for me, though I wasn't quite sure what they were for, and long division worked much better than short division, then came algebra....
loved algebra I and II, trig, geometry, etc. -- but calculus stabbed me in the heart! LOL
I like what Einstein said about mathematics..."as far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality"
firewords! see you at the flip! *poof*
And the answer to a stupid question like 'Two men are filling a bath with a hole in it from 2 buckets, one of which has a pinhole in the the bottom, and the river is flowing at 2 miles per hour - how long does it take them to fill the bath?' just elicited a response, like 'Why bother? Or at least plug the leaks first!'
Well done Une! *~*~*~*~*~*
Just popping in to say hello to Jacula whom I have not said hello to yet today! How are you doing this evening Jacula?
Hi Min
Hi Min. I'm doing fine (but not found another job yet).
Want to hear an old joke? There was a man who had worked at a factory for twenty years. Every night when he left the plant, he would push a wheelbarrow full of straw to the guard at the gate. The guard would look through the straw, and find nothing and pass the man through. On the day of his retirement the man came to the guard as usual but without the wheelbarrow. Having become friends over the years, the guard asked him, "Charlie, I've seen you walk out of here every night for twenty years. I know you've been stealing something. Now that you're retired, tell me what it is. It's driving me crazy." Charlie simply smiled and replied, "Okay, wheelbarrows!"
:-))
Min - nice doggy story of clues tonight!
LOL at your joke and thank you.My dog's real name is Jack
The old joke I told reminds me of the day after the night of strong winds when my ex-hub presented me with a dozen plastic watering cans for my garden. They''d blown over the fence from the DIY/Gardening place in the next unit on the industrial estate.
That's so many years ago now only 3 of the original cans survive.
Hi again MollyL! I I like your green clover. It is very pretty.
Thanks Min. Celebrating St. Patrick's Day early. : )
Speaking of plastic, has the make-up of it changed to be bio-degradable since the 70s and 80s? I've got plastic troughs, planters etc., that I bought back then that still survive. However, a few plastic planters I've bought from £1 shops (cheap shops or perhaps $1 shops to my US friends) have gone brittle and broken within a year.
molly: did u see once?
Molly - you are early; it's not until 17th March. The next day in UK is Mothering Sunday/Mother's Day.
Back and stuck for re5/14
Jilly - re5.14 = to utter again.
repeat your clue for re 5/14
ah, another fish slap ty jac
y/w Jilly.
