but aren't you up even later?
falling asleep, off til tomorrow, goodnight kj and anyone who's around
good morning
good morning :)
good morning debjed!
I think we're alone
I think so too. What time is it at your house?
9:47AM, but we don't go on DST until next weekend
it is really stupid that Europe and the US don't agree on such a simple thing!
it's 3:47AM here. And, I've got to work at 8 :)
oatmeal and coffee sounds good right now....
I don't think I've seen 3:45AM for 30 years!
we had a huge breakfast: eggs, veal sausage, toast, cottage cheese, coffee
I haven't been sleeping well for several months. I used to sleep a good 8 hours a night.
I take Xanax before I go to bed, otherwise I used to wake up at 2AM with anxiety and couldn't fall back asleep
it really does the trick
I am out of my sleeping pills. I left a full-time job with great benefits due to a very bad environment. And, now I have no insurance. So, to see a doc to get a new prescription for them would be expensive.
I really need them too because I also suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome. I have meds for that, but sometimes they don't quite do the trick and I need that sleeper
two nice things about Xanax: 1) no after-effects in the morning and they give me great dreams and 2) they're very cheap
that was 3 things, lol
I would love that!! I was a pharmacy technician at my last job :)
lol :)
I have the best dreams of my life since I started taking X after 9/11
Did 9/11 give you the anxiety?
yes, I'm a New Yorker and maybe because I am so far away now, it made it even worse
wow, that must have been really hard for you. Do you still have family there?
yes
Was everyone ok?!!
good morning all, can anyone clue the 7 or 8 please
yes, but, when I was still working, I used to go to the WTC often as I was a glass supplier for some Port Authority projects
Hi Jenny. I don't have any 8's yet

Oh, well- good morning.

Hi Kap...Seattle
And kisser
Don't mind going to the PB, I've stocked it with lots of St. Patrick's Day goodies.

And for want of a properly placed S, we would have Yeats, as in William Butler, a fine, fine, Irish poet.
Hi Dose and M9

oh cute.. ki4 me I'm Irish
ooh--so sorry
it's ok.. we've all been there, done that
It's okay Katie. Come to the PB. There are oatmeal/pecan cookies, Irish soda bread and honey, bacon and eggs, coffee and tea out.
tatties and neeps and barm brack!

oh nvm

yeah. as does the wo4
do 8/45
thanks! nbt, nbs
Good Morning, is there a list anywhere, please?
List here: http://tinyurl.com/7fon4ns
thanks
One of these days, Alice---pow
right in the ki****?
No?
thanks Kap.. got it from the ALice line
Who said television was a "vast wasteland."
LOL
... Jackie Gleason?
(Actually fred allen said it, but anyway.)
Jackie Gleason said One of these Days, Alice...
fred allen said television was a vast waseland
and Mad Magazine said Jackie Gleason was a vast wasteland. So there you go.
to the MOON!
ha ha
Humminah, humminah, humminah...one of my favorite Jackie Gleason utterances.
:)
... the only Honeymooners story I can remember was the day, on live television, that the door into the apartment stuck for Art Carney ... so when told to come in ... he came in through the bathroom door ...
♪ He came in through the bathroom window ♫
... a moment later the postman knocks on the door and Gleason says to "come in" again ... and Carney says ..." and good luck" ...
Gleason and Carney were a class act comedy duo.
nodding vigorously.
... they certainly were ...
Audrey Meadows.
I think I was spoiled by the great comedy I saw in my youth. Comedies today...ala Adam Sandler...just don't seem that funny to me.
Geezer alert?
well I got a bone to pick with Ella today! Tisket is not a word...
I tried it.
Although Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry certainly are up to par in the comedy department.
... I know what you mean ... my daughter thinks Ben Stiller is hilarious ... ... but he comes nowhere close to being as funny as his parents on Ed sullivan
Ah, Stiller and Meara
Anne and Jerry might disagree with you though.
I grew up with Tim Conway and Harvey Korman
In the same house?
oh ha ha..
... yes ... and what disaster will Tim Conway pull on Harvey tonight
fry and laurie are quite funny.
oh yay. 1/2 way
... but that leads to all the great British comedy acts that preceeded Monty Python ...
Yes, true...
and my kids loved Wooster and Jeeves. I remember watching Wodehouse Playhouse.. did anyone watch that?
yes.. although I never got what people saw in Benny Hill.
... agree there
we recently got Good Neighbors from the library. The kids liked that.
Felicity Kendal ... such a cutie.
I need to find "To the Manor Born" for them
... ancient days ... I'd go to bed Sunday nights with my father listening to the Goons on the radio ... that was funny!
good morning, everyone. nbt, nbs, over 80%. now to find a list.
Ok name that proper city in which to be sleepless.
Seekonk?
Seattle
Already did that the first time
er- no.
Oh. I must have shut my eyes.
belated dingdingding.
Seekonk is in Rhode Island.
Everyone sleeps there all the time.
It's okay Kap, you were probably having another altered consciousness fugue state
Fugue get about it.
actually it's in MA, near RI border
is there a list?
True. I once went to a drive-in movie there.
List here: http://tinyurl.com/7fon4ns
A drive-in movie in Seekonk...there is a song in that somehow
ty, Molly
Try it.
Probably about lost virginity
Excuse me?
In the fifties, lots of virginity was lost at the drive-in
Someone didn't lose their virginity till their fifties, you say?
All that wasted time.
*Passes Kap her bi-focals*
Did anyone find these "lots of virginity?"
Are they in the Lost and Found?
I would think you can't keep virginity lying around past its expiration date.
I often wonder if virginity is like a pierced ear -- if you dont' keep putting something in it, the hole closes up.....and good morning!
It all depends which virgin of reality you subscribe to.
I am so happy to engage in a frank discussion on a Saturday morning.
"franks" are vital in this process....
He wore a letter, on his sweater And with a plonk My virtue was zonked At the drive-in in Seehonk
Frank would Shirley agree.
well done Molly! tee hee
... Thank you Fankie Avalon ... ... oh my ... this is contagious ... gotta go ... 'til later
It's a frankless job.

Rufie has a mission from God to wipe out my garden, has bitten or flattened all the iris, tulips and daffs
but he's a wonder dog!
do you have Rufie in your lap while you Babble?
That's too bad about your flowers
he is so big I wouldn't be able to see the screen
hopefully, he'll be a big boy by next Spring and they'll come back
That hasn't stopped Marco from jumping in my lap
and he's housebroken
I pick him up sometimes, to keep him away from poor, upset Ruby, but not at the keyboard
Aw, poor Ruby : (
she is puzzled by the loss of Max, I fear, but is beginning to eat again
Of course she is. Dogs grieve too.
with previous dogs, we've let them sniff the body but this was just a disappearance, so we're all still puzzled and sad
Is there a list? I'm floundering.

Ruby, I seriously doubt it's a word you're familiar with. In this life anyway.

Well, if you can regress to your Byzantine Goddess life, you might remember it.

most of the waters are closed for spawning, scrabbs. some rivers have open areas, but getting to them can be a little dicey this time of year, particularly once the bears wake up
he actually watches television and barks at birds flying over
That's great, Ruby.
Any lakes?
Marco and Polo are fascinated by the noises on TV. A doorbell rang on TV and they wanted to run to the door on TV
Did anyone have that doll, r7, with the hair that you could lengthen or shorten?
oh boy, I miss fishing, welki!
Haha, B.

Tr7 I mean.
Hi Kap...looking now.
what is the r7 doll?
oh ruby, every year you say you miss it, and every year i say, grab a fly rod and get out there! now you have a puppy to keep you company!
Tr7 I meant.
A girl from Queens fishes <ggg>
we tried fly fishing here the first two years, got licenses and everything, but never had a bite or saw a fish. They were mythical brown trout as far as I'm concerned
She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens
even in brooklyn/queens, i fished, bichon
when her boyfriend kicked her out on one of those crushing scenes
bichon, I used to fish in Flushing Meadow Park in the canal between the lakes and also deepsea fishing off Sheepshead Bay and way out on the island
fly fishing takes patience - but once you catch your first one ...
What was she to do! Where was she to go> She was out on her fanny.
you know, i have not seen a fresh flounder or fluke since i've moved to canada
my best was in Alaska, my 23" rainbow on a (excuse me, scrabs) a bunny fly
I went to the beach in Rockaway, but never went fishing
Then over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield's door
what street, bichon?
I lived in the Beach 50's. We lived in a public housing development and then to a co-op
hehehe, i tried tying my own flies - most of them looked like small sheep
It was actually the mighty town of Arverne
my father used to bring home fluke and/or flounder, live, and my mother would have to kill them for dinner.....
Did those sheep attract any fish?
She was there to sell make up but the father saw more, She had style, she had flair, she was there, That's how she became the Nanny. Who would have guessed that the girl we described was just exactly what the doctor prescribed?
my grandmother lived in one of those high rises on rockaway blvd (pkwy?)
we used to go to beach 35th St.
on the LIRR
We lived near Pomonok.
Bus to Jones Beach.
That wasn't too far. I still haven't gotten the sand out of my shoes. I feel great at the beach.
no scrabbs - they were pathetic (but i suppose, given the right circumstances, they might have been okay for pike or musky)
my fluffy bunny fly was white feathers
it is rejuvenating, isn't it bichon? i feel my best on the beach
ohhhh, jones beach!
<--didn't tie it myself, but caught the fish, photographed it, and released, of course
Isn't it neat how we have our personal refuges? For me it is the woods.
still have the photo?
you bet!
The sound of the surf, the gentle breeze, the seal gulls. Had a great time at the beach in Hawaii in Dec.
and photos with the huge mackerels I used to catch off the Keys
<-- could use a little personal refuge
Where can you go, Welki?
this is my refuge
Or a personal refugee.
I love to read at the beach, and of course, nap
Ruby's, too
True, Ruby. This is always available.
Gotta get going, bbl
have to be careful with personal refugees - government frowns on that sort of stuff
bye, bichon
Haha, W
:)
Bye Bichon

appropriate for St. Pat's Day
we're all Irish today
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats 1 tablespoon sugar 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 tspground black pepper plus additional for topping 1 3/4 cups buttermilk 1 egg white, beaten to blend
I found it, ty
Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 375°F. Stir butter in heavy small saucepan over medium heat until melted and golden brown, about 3 minutes. Stir flour, oats, sugar, rosemary, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 3/4 teaspoon pepper in large bowl to blend. Pour buttermilk and melted browned butter over flour mixture; stir with fork until flour mixture is moistened. Turn dough out onto floured work surface. Knead gently until dough comes together, about 7 turns. Divide in half. Shape each half into ball; flatten each into 6-inch round. Place rounds on ungreased baking sheet, spacing 5 inches apart. Brush tops with beaten egg white. Sprinkle lightly with ground black pepper. Using small sharp knife, cut 1/2-inch-deep X in top of each dough round. Bake breads until deep golden brown and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Cool breads on rack at least 30 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature. Note: You'll get the most tender soda bread by kneading the dough gently and briefly, just until it comes together, so the gluten is minimally developed.
oh the rosemary is a nice touch
I make rosemary scones from time to time

ts4 is a silly word
Hi phaeton

Silly JM!
that reminds me i need to find a short rib recipe today
*grins*

a good substitute ( I never buy buttermilk) is make sour milk bu adding about a tbsp of vinegar to the bottom of your measuring cup then filling it with milk.... let stand a few minutes, use.... will do the same thing
don't have any short rib recipes... not a fan ; )

Good morning Babblers :)
afternoon everyone!
my mom taught me the vinegar trick... I have an old banana bread recipe that calls for sour milk and that is how we would make it, and it is a great substitute for buttermilk in baking as well (clearly not to drink straight)
hiya lind!
hi nono!
jmc I used to buy powdered buttermilk but that was a long time ago dont know if it is still available or not
yes i knew about the vinegar trick too but i love buttermilk
Good morning

irish wine?? wow,who would of thought, would think they were too busy churning out the single malt spirits that they do so well:)
Ru, we are a perfect representation of karmic balance. For all the wine I don't drink, you balance and for all the beer you don't drink, I balance. Namaste.
Our Soodle is a perfect case for Irish winos. : P
nature is like that molly ,it abhorrs a vacuum and balances
Truth be told, Soodle is probably in some Irish pub somewhere right now, drowning a shamrock in a glass of wine. Slainte!

you have to be a little nuts to keep coming back here, yes? (particularly without lickety)
that must be a fun read
channeling peri doren..
indeedydo
hmmm, channeling peri doren. could be interesting
i don't re-read it often, west; it still smells like formalin from having it in the anatomy lab freshmen year...
the title gets me lol
I think the cats might like it
ewwww. formalin. just the thought is nauseating
it's one of the better one. i've got some other fun stuff though, like "Diseases of the Cat; Medicine & Surgery"
stuck at 166/79 - have company coming for Irish supper so need to get busy -- not sure I'll be back as I'm getting a little tired of these weird grids
and my personal favorite "Help! My Dog Has an Attitude!"
cooking is more fun nan..what's on the menu?
yes, that was a text book.
more like 'my cat has an attitude'
what cat doesn't have an attitude?
nothing fancy -- irish stew and cabbage, still have to dream up a dessert
oh so excited. i have greyed out the bottom row
yay dorens!
I wonder what a good Irish dessert would be
something with green sprinkles?
beer
irish coffee!
It might just be key lime pie from coco's!
gj dorens..took me forever to get that last y
key lime pie is hard to pass up
ooh key lime pie..perfect
ey 6 anyone?
just luck westord
i was in the keys a couple of years ago and had key lime pie every single day for a week. on a quest to determine the best one there
ey and donkeys..but lose a consonant
ey 6 - pl of ey 4/6
thanks west. (and ru for asking)
wow..thanks WV
thanks :)
hi all!
who was the winner dorens?
hi sue
believe it or not (and i didn't really want this to be the winner)... the key lime pie company.
got nbs and nbt all by myself :-)
wtg sue !!
yay sue!
off to pretend to work some more.
did you have conch chowder too?
bye, jes!
how many words please
i did, but not such a big fan of that
245
ty
haven't been there since 1967
i wanted some cool little out of the way restaurant to win. and many were good. but the big corporate award winning company really did have the best
just like everything else, westford, it has grown and become more commercial. but still has its charms
ke 7 please?
a lot of ignitions now ruru
ru this is so unlike you.. no jokes, no chatter, just straightforward requests for clues... you must have a busy day planned
without the means to open the lock
sorta frustrated and want to finish this
we lived there for 6 weeks..husband had hot pad duty
not getting the ignition clue
ruru: w/o an implement to open a dorr
understandable. big grids without lickety can be like that
door
ohhh
1:46 ruru
thank you turq
thanks, turq!
*smacks head*
cool westford, kind of paradise... but 6 weeks would be about the limit for me
guess I'm chopped liver - either that or invisible
gehacte laber
thank you too nan.. I missed your clue
missed mine too lol
yw, all
HI NAN!!!!! *waves madly*
hi sue :)
ok -- off to set up for the evening's festivities -- bfn
do 8/45 any clues?
bye nan enjoy !!
add a french 'and' to do6/21
thanks nice clue
that was do**'s clue
thanks west, got them both!
yw
don't forget the 4
had that to build on :-)
I tend to forget root words
there is only one 2 pointer in the grid today
you're right! How weird!
re8 anyone?
don't have it, ruru, will look
Anyone have a list today?
(happily picking up all the words that others request, not having listed yet)
babanon jilly
ty ru
i have nono list in my profile which she says came from ibdawger
ty west
i have found one from jac every day for the longest time. i just assume i will forever
yw maj
any luck with that re8?
not yet, west
jacula didn't have one when i looked
thanks for looking sue
bab anonymous
oh good lord you are right wvt
re 8 - to speak forcefully again
I know, Jac is my source...must be celebrating st paddy's?
everyone is allowed a break sometimes - but i do count on her
got it, wv (and its root), thanks!
don't see it.. damn
that's because you are very soft spoken ruru
its root means to state a fact firmly, ruru
and should I talk again about how hot it is here, or are you all tired of hearing about it?
evening all
there's also the as8 the person who speaks forcefully
hi, glant!!
hi sue
hi glan
hi west
I love to hear about warm weather sue
el6?
ack! just clicked on the BA link to get the stats and got a vicious malware alert.
it's warm here too, thinking off turning off the heatingfor the summer
just got it.. thank you teach and uu
<---is very soft spoken
ty for the re 8; now i have all the 8s
Me too hokie...have given up on list....lbd's was yesteday
thanks from me as well
look in babanon jilly
hint for to speak forcefully, plz
mitchdick has one in his profile
well, we are having an unprecedented string of 80+ degree days (that's 27C)
as**** yourself bichon
is lickety over and done with? I haven't been playing much recently because I moved house/had a holiday/went to briother's wedding but see the clues are old
oh we are only having 15C
ruru, got weird warning on babanon
tyvm west
mrp said she'll be away from her computer for several weeks
According to Cosdem, they are gone for awhile
yw bichon
it's nice here in CT, not too warm, but definitely spring like
warm in NC, too. only 75 today after several 80+ days last week.
this is almost 35F above normal, really unheard of
are they gone on holiday, or?
are they worried about tornados where you are sue?
it is more like summer here, bichon, I have all the fans on and need to run the air conditioner in the car
not sure glan she just said she'd be off
not right now, west, although there were some thunderstorms early this morning just to the north of us
I'm going to have to prune my roses. Don't usually do it for a couple more weeks. At this rate, we'll have forsythias soon
so scary
forsythias are out here
Our forsythias bloomed in Jan. this year!
I love forsythias
like sunshine on a stick
forsythia and daffodils, dogwoods are all in blossom here
where do you likve hokie
and we had no window for pruning, it was snowing 2 weeks ago and now the trees are all starting to bud
broke 200. off to do something productive. ty for all the help
right now we have bradford pears & redbuds blooming.
bye turq good job !!
you must live in the deep south
I will bet that carla has some connection to Virginia Tech :-)
haven't seen any dogwoods yet.
yes, I went to VT. :-) grew up in Va, now in NC.
so, not deep south.
just really mild winter
well, I am in northern Illinois so NC and VA all look like pretty far south to me...
No, definitely not. Hope this is not a precursor for a very hot summer
Birds are really tweeting away today, especially the cardinals
I think Alabama & Miss. are deep south. We're just mid-south, or I guess more often called mid-atlantic.
finally done with the s's
yay ruru!
I think of VA and MD as Mid Atlantic, NC as mid south and MS and AL as Deep South
yesterday I got a lot on my own, but today I'm just not seeing them. Only 56 so far.
have many more to go ruru..good for you !
tatter
oops
Thanks :]
*Wipes out all the projected mojo for a hot summer* Folks, it's really okay to have a mild winter.
it's been 80 degrees here for the past 4 days, molly, that's a little beyond a mild winter. I'm not complaining, exactly (although it is kind of hot) but it is rather odd.
you said it molly !
the people with allergies will have a hard time I think
No, it's just different weather. Why do people pre-curse themselves for the next season just because the previous one didn't meet their expectations?
yep, allergy season started earlier here for most
here too, carla
But, I refuse to take off my flannel sheets til Memorial Day
ha, I said I wasn't going to use the car air conditioning in March, but gave in
"when is memorial day bichon? here we have the saying 'ne'er cast a clout till may is out..."
Last Monday in May
about the same time then
what's a clout?
Weather here usually goes up and down, but by the end of May, it's warm
from the National Weather Service - on average, Chicago sees an 80-degree day in March once every 14 years. We have had four of them in a row now, and will probably have at least one and maybe two or three more. Unprecedented to put it mildly.
old word for clothes
thanks glan..was thinking it was a clod of earth
it's also a wallop or smack
oh sure I've heard that
Okay, I give up. It's hard to beat negative thinking when that is the predominant force.
alright, I found 12 more words, so now I'm going to go outside for a while. Good day!
does anybody know if Ruby's dog (Max) ever turned up?
what negative thinking Molly?
No he didn't, but they have a new puppy Chow named Ruffino
I don't think so glan I do know the new puppy has arrived
I don't think so, Glant, but she has a new puppy now!
such a shame - you wonder where such a big dog could disappear to
people here are saying that our summer will be hot because we didnt have much of a winter.. i dont knowwhat one has to do with the other lol
I think the dog had emotional problems
Gardening is going to be hell. No "white fertilizer" here
and I am not trying to be negative, Molly; I am worried about what will happen to my fruit trees if we have a hard freeze now, since it's been so hot; for summer forecasts I look to the weather service but this far out they are notoriously unreliable. I am not thinking about summer at the moment.
Phantom "let's talk.:
dogs often have emotional problems if they are treated like indulged children rather than dogs - sometimes makes them feel they are the 'pack leader' and not all of them want to be
was going to put some screens up today, thought better of it.. sure we will get cooler weather
Ruby called him "autistic". What that means in a dog, I don't know. Do know he was taking Prozac
never heard of a dog on prozac!
I hope he found a good home
me too west
but more I hope he comes back to ruby
i'm guessing that if he hasn't gone back by now then he is either unable to or doesn't wish to
People are strange when you're a stranger.
very profound Kap
Jim Morrison was profound
it was a bizarrely warm winter.
this grid is a bit of a stinker, i think
when you 're strange no one remembers your name
Jim Morrison was stoned.
it's twisty
Faces come out of the rain.
i hear a song coming on
we like Doors here
When you're straa-aa-aange...
and i wonder , still i wonder who will stop the rain

ugh! i went to a mexican restaurant today and they had dyed a perfectly good margarita a horrible shade of green
aren't margaritas green anyway?
that is what made it so especially stupid
... let's hope that green food dye is less harmful than red dye number 40
well most of the country will dye from it if it is not. . . they put it in rivers and bayous and everything else today
im looking at jac's list. are there really 4 ae words?
no, that's yesterday. check dawg or nononanette's profiles
thanks. its weird she updated the date though
oh wait. no she didnt! lol thanks
no, cos, today's the 17th :D
oh good nono's list has word groups separated like jacula's. yay !

ah that ar6 was a fish :)
thanks!
Stats are now in my profile. Sorry, I didn't have chance to put them in before I went out.
ah thanks jac.. switching to urs now!
Y/w. LBD has already put stats in BabAnon.
I don't get it. Are all the other lists inferior to Jac's? I love Jac and she is great to post a list, but I don't get why someone would switch to her list.
because i'm used to her list and the one i was using had words in it and was confusing
i'm also OCD in many ways --- i like using the same things everyday
its a routine.
Oh yikes Cos, I didn't realize there was a list going around that had words in it.
every list is good yes :) its just a quirk i have lol
nononanette's list has about 5 of the d words left in, mol.
otherwise it looks fine, and all the words there were words i already had anyway...
good day
dawg's list does not have words in it: http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=7267
hi pickles :)
<---Dumb...I thought people who copied and pasted lists did so from people who had already posted appropriate lists. I really miss Lickety.
somebody's gotta come up with the list in the first place.

afternoon peeps
hi Hoot
OK with me if OK with you.
hi Lynx - what time is it by you?
9.08 am Sunday
how is tomorrow?
Wow ! Didn't think it was that much difference
T words are worse than c words, which are worse than vowel words
which all are worse with no lickety
Tomoorrow is lovely, vivid blue skies...Last day of the Grand Prix - they scored well
vowel words are nasty.
We are still living your yesterday.
I agree Ivesy. It's too bad we are Lickety-less.
I have Mitchs list in my profile. I try to get it as soon as he makes it
oh i appreciate all the lists, but with lickety as least i know what words are missing

I have never understood why Lickety was not a "paid for" kind of thing. Lots of people would get on board for that.
Ivsey from day one I have printed it out and filled it in. Much easier then staring at a list with no gaps in it!
Yeah, but I reckon it looks TOO much Cross
it wasn't because lickety wanted to provide it for free
i know.if someone is willing doesnt seem fair
I only have used Lickety- other lists don't appeal. Why was it?
*Makes Soodle a cup of coffee and puts fluffy pillows all around*
marmalade, crutches, windowsills.
Yah, what is the Lickety tradition anyway? I would pay too.
I don't believe Lickety would find it very honourable to charge for something that is not his (Babble) however I am sure he would be happy to do a deal with Jamie/DrG
resay
finally finished the 7s
Yeah- why not?
ty hoots
Lickety's list IS his. Paying to access it would be fine.
do 8, please?
Bye Bye hootie
hi crossy - yw
agreed molly
do8 is a little do6.21
*Puts cold cloth on Soodle's head. Cues up Downton Abbey*
has anyone heard from or seen mrp?
Yeah, I would totally pay.
ty lynxxx
I have one R left but Im not bothering to find it til its the last word left because i don't feel like going thruall that R's :)
But Lickety list is based on Babble - I think there would be ownership conflicts - certainly morally anyway - Jamie/DrG was not interested in taking on Licketys list as far as I knew
Thank you, thank you thank you Molly. St Patrick can rest easy in his grave. He was well and truly toasted and toasted and cheered this evening. :0(
good job soodle!
I don't really understand the moral complexity, but I don't know the whole history, or who Jamie is, or how it all began...
that reminds me. i gotta text a friend to see if he's picking me up for tonight's festivites
Anyone who has generated a word solving program like Lickety did can use it to solve on line games. No ownership conflicts, just Lickety being graceful about providing his list for free.
why cant he let others generate then. thats what i dont understand..
It is very nice of Lickety, and I think it is a good feature.
?????????????????/
i don't understand the question ivesy. creating a program to solve babble puzzles is certainly not exclusive to lickety
I don't understand that either Ivesy. It would seem to be a good thing to sell to someone who could do it on a consistent basis.
I have one k left.
Anybody can - and they do occassionally Ivesy. No-one is stopping Lickety/MrP from doing it know - it is simply not always convenient for them to produce the list
LA, I find it exclusive to Lickety. Have you found any other program on the net that solves this grid, and creates a list like Lickety did?
true leslie.. so why hasnt anyone done it.. i know i couldnt becuz im not that computer literate for things like that
<----m
have i found one? no, but i haven't looked. i'm just saying it's not proprietary
*Draws a hot, lavender laced bath for Soodle*
Before Licketys List BranyJack used to do the same list and put it on BabAnon...not quite as sophisticated as Licketys though
ok.. i undestand that mrp cant do it all the time. they have problems.. but couldnt someone else take over
right, it was mostly like the lists in people's profiles now
(BrandyJack)
I've looked and I haven't found anything like Lickety's program. It's exclusive to him and so is Expert. In my opinion.
so again- why can't Dr God or whomever just adapt the list making program?
Admitting defeat. Good night all, and enjoy the rest of your St Patricks Day festivities.
sleep well Soodle
Expert is great.
Sleep it off, Soodle.
Lickety approached Jamie/DrG - but he wasn't interested
*Sprinkles leprechaun dust over Soodle*
without lickety list, this is becoming more of a chore than a fun word game.
heavens - thought I must have found all the ly's -- missing the first 3!
well, contact dr. g and ask, then
ly & ***s and crafts
ta6.18 after the ta5 (to eat)?
got all 3 - ty
Again, I don't understand why Jamie has to have a say in this. A separate board that includes Lickety's list and Expert, with a pay to view feature. I have yet to figure out why that didn't happen years ago.
I guess I should just ask, LeslieAnn. It never occurred to me.
ly & books of maps atl***s
Is there an authority thing?
molly it is based upon babble and as a support to babble, which is jamie's creation
There is no copyright on Babble. I'm just surprised that what started out as a courtesy, has not evolved from that. I'll shut up now.
as a rule, honourable web designers do not steal from each other
me too.. guess its my choice to play with or without lickety.
IT'S A PUZZLE
there is too much piracy going on as it is
Nicely put Nan
I have no idea how it all began, being a relatively new interloper.
So I am really just asking, not challenging.
ar6?
i am sure it was jamie/DRg turning a leinient eye to licketys
has to do with the heart, leslie
as he knows it was heling us and enriching his game
ah thanks cos
helping
hi folks
hi Welki
howdy welki
hey welki
Wait, I will shut up after I say this. We were promised "New Babble" that was supposed to have lots of bells and whistles, including Lickety's list. That never happened. And it's not piracy to generate a word puzzle solver. Done.
never realized how much i like the aroma of simmering corned beef - dinner rolls rising, going to be a good night :)
ooh that sounds good welki
easy molly,i am sure dr g never thought "piracy"
mmm corned beefs...
I didn't say piracy, Nan did.
<-- is grateful for this game, regardless of the bells and whistles. where else can you get such good bang for your buck?
I don't believe that 'Licketys list' was included in the new version of Babble - just list on each letter when you selected it. Very cumbersome
how did you prep your corned beef welki, the top deli shops marinate for a week or more in secret sauces and such
does do8 build off of do6?
well said welki
yeah.
Yes Leslie
lol - this is easy peasy corned beef, crossy - throw it all in a pot and simmer away. i have to put the veggies in in just a few minutes (and the buns in the oven)
mmmmm..god thats sounds sooooo good:)
nice spicy dijon /honey mustard..mmm dark rye bread...
smells heavenly - and i promised a certain fella that i'd make him a mochatini (which really isn't a tini at all)
i have sprouted bread for sandwiches tomorrow - and a good brown mustard
drool...
No no - you have got to have a white sauce with corned beef - made from the water the cauliflower is cooked in
comfort food. if i didn't know better, i'd think i was nesting. last week was a huge pot of beef stew
i cook it with cabbage, lynxx, but that sauce sounds gooooooood
*wanders back in* 8 left
cabbage, potatoes, onion, celery
hey jes
oh, getting hungry
3 left. ugh.
tonights menu here is half a dozen halibut fillets done in lemon/pepper/garlic sauce and pan seared in cremery butter and thin cut washed but peel on russet taters cook crispy and golden in peanut oil and seasoned with a fuew turn of fresh ground sea salt and fresh ground peppercorn
sounds delish, crossy
crossy are you available for hire as a personal chef?
BBL Stew is getting restless, I have forgotten about his walk!
lol,no leslie, but i always have a place at the table open for any babbler who wanders by
how'd those hasselback potatoes come out?
ly6/24 between soap and cell rupture?
halibut is delicious, so expensive, though
they were amazing welki, but i will tone back a tad on the butter next time:)
clever to put them on a spoon to limit how far you slice them
nm, found it
good, because even though i have them all, jess, i couldn't figure out which one you needed!! lol
i would cut the tater in thin slices but still attached as listed before, but then brush peanut oil on and bake for 45 min, unadorned by butter or cheese, after 45 min, take out and lightly brush with butter and sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar and bake for 10 min more, then add sour cream and chives or bacon bits and serve
yes welki, the sppon handle was a nice guide
the last re5/18 please?
now that sounds droolishish
re + plant seeds
they came out crispier and much less greasy
thats re5/12
oh nou r right
fireworks
no, re 5/12 is re + grass
heh. there are two ly4 words, that are anagrams of each other, with an ly6 between them. i was looking for the ly6, which turns out to be related to the first ly4
no another way to say cos
yay cos!
hoooray cos!
ty welki :)
there you go! :)
yaa for cosdem!
i have a mess in the kitchen to clean up - time to put the rolls in and clean up - bbl
bye, welki
bye all and ty for ur help
mmm,home made corned beefs...
sliced hot and steaming and piled on razor thin,so the flavor has nowhere to hide

wow, just back in time to catch your recipe crossy - those taters sure sound good
the hasslebacks? yes they are amazing
named after a sweedish hotel who served them in this manner first
basted in peanut oil and using a low fat sharp cheddar ,i am sure they will work for those who are slimming as well
they come out all fanned open and crispy and golden brown, then the grated sharp cheddar and back into the oven till the cheese bubbles, then some nice sour cream and chives...mmm
will pass it on to daughter - she does a buffet style supper every Tues. for their friends - their way of keeping in touch
it is almost a meal in itself
yes, sounds like it
and russets are a must,i tried them with yukon golds, reds, and standard white table taters...russets all the way
russet is my fav
the potatoes sound delish. I love potatoes
reds wil do in a pinch, but the yukons get seedy and the table whites just do not have that intense tater "punch"
true

haha. the first half was fun, fran!
re8?
I have no 8s.
well, i started it. *sigh*
Type away, Fran. Stop when the fun ends.
LeslieAnn - your TE7/28 has a plural (TE8/40), with a Latin ending.
I'm hitting the fun ending part. I have so much to do... Scrabbs I was invited to apply for the infection control position at our hosptial...
TY, Christine.
yep, trying to have that attitude, scrabs...no more obsessive finishing at any cost. lol
i have also hit "the fun is over " part
thanks have that one, christine, looking for re8
Red---less stressful, for sure. Less challenging and stimulating. What are you thinking?
I would be responsible for the entire hospital, so I think more stressful. and lots of interesting data collection and the chance to impact a huge amount of people...
I stopped that obsessive need to finish a few yrs ago, but I recall frantically trying to finish at 12AM so I could go to bed.
AND a normal work schedule, so I could train better...
But no codes, no trauma emergencies, etc.
Better pay?
more AS6/18 - there's also an AS8/40 (one who AS6)
yes, I think in 10 years I have seen enough codes and trauma emergencies...
aha. fireworks!
thanks, christine!
dunno. I am not technically qualified at all for the job, but...they asked me to interview...
woo hoo, leslie!!!
Congrats LA!
COngratulations leslie Ann!!!! neat!
Red, you can learn what you need. They looked to you for a reason--they trust you.
yes, The lady they hired freaked out and quit, said we were a hostile environment. But she was strange.
I'm a little freaked out as it is a job on par with the Managers and such, so we shall see what happens on Monday..
Better pay?
But I am pleased that my manager recommended me!
sorry, yvw
Red, our Buffalo Sabres are down south playing your Florida Panthers.

Hi LBD

hi wht
Hi Sue. We had a beautiful day here. 75 and sunny. The next several days will be similar.
we are even warmer, scrabs, low 80s, and the highs should be above 70 through Wednesday!
phlibbbbbbbttttttt! ot
Hi lbd. Thanks for the liset
it's snowing here!
yw, wht.
Our snow will melt soon, and we will get more snow--winter is never over when we think it is over.
it was snowing here two weeks ago but now the forsythias are out, and the daffodils are blooming, and all the trees are sprouting leaves - it's been in the 80s for the past 4 days now with at least one more day to come!
we really haven't had much snow here in the valley this winter. fortunately, the high country has received a lot, so our water table is good.
Scrabs, when we moved to Western New York, I remember my father saying that there were two seasons there. winter and the Fourth of July.
if we get a hard freeze now (which would not be in the least unusual) a lot of trees and plants will suffer...won't see much fruit this year if that happens
wht, I recall a snowstorm on a Mother's Day several yrs ago. It was May 8th.
we've had snow on the 4th of July as well as in august.
Yes, Sue, I am worried about the plants.
snow is not unusual in April here, and hard freezes in early May are not unusual either - five or six 80+ days in March are unheard of, but here they are!
weird weather all the way around.
The ski resort across the valley had their annual snowmobile races up the hills today.
one of the local towns has a maple syrup festival around this time of year, but I don't know if they're getting much syrup when it's so hot
weather here is 30 degrees c above normal for this time of year sik hiss are close a month and a half early
ski
and our syrup harvest is a mess
I didn't think of the syrup--less production when it warms up a lot.
on the other hand the parks are full of walkers and joggers, and when the students come back tomorrow they will be sunbathing for sure!
yes scrabbs,we need a few degree above freezing in day and a few degrees below freezing at night,or the sap does not run
Well, the local sap collectors will suffer.
there was a wolverine siting at one of the ski resorts here in the valley.
I don't think there will be much maple syrup anywhere this year.
Cool.
A Michigan Wolverine?
ok, off to bed with me, see you all tomorrow!
night sue!
it has been warmer in the midwest than here in new england. most odd. and for several winters now there have been tornadoes in the south - i don't recall that ever being the case previously. it is global warming i think and this is just the fun part
Good night sue.
time to stock up on the syrup before it gets too expensive
night night UU
clue for the el6 please.

Hi Jac

crossy is still drinking green vodka in honor of the day
i'm drinking green tea
Crossy - my cousin in Canada sent a pic of the buckets on his maple tr5/10 yesterday.
he must be getting low yeilds
Fran - long time no see on here. How are you?
lbd - thanks for putting the list in BA, it saved me a job.:-)
"it take 50 pails of raw sap to make 1 pail of refined grade a syrup
Crossy - he didn't say. He did say his lake's still frozen, though.
Scrabbs! How are you and how are the bunnies?
I got a new bunny 7 wks ago--an over 2 yr old male that a family wanted to get rid of. A friend heard about him and called me. He is brown with white paws. I changed his name from Pancakes to Gulliver.
Scrabbs - did he notice the name change?:-)
He was very grateful to no longer be called Pancakes and Mr Pancakes. The name was degrading, he said. Actually I named him Sir Gulliver Rabbit, so he likes the noble name.
hey, jac! I'm good. sorry, back and forth between here, facebook and pinterest right now. lol
Scrabbs. LOL
and it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!!
Fran - good to hear you're okay.x

Hi wht!
Hi mkg.
as6/18 word means to defend or maintain one's rights mkg
Or to make a statement of something as true.
Hi Min.
Just figured it out. I couldn't come up with it for a while.
I was not an as 5/18 of clues, however,I'll be a provider of one with a story. When I was in high school, there was this kid, named Te5/14, who wo5/20 me at school. He wanted to go out with me quite badly. Although he had nice ey 4/6 to look at, his ego got in the way. The first time he asked me out he said to me, "I want to ra 6/18 your chain. Will you go out with me tonight?"He thought he was being funny but I thought he was wi 7/44. That stupid line er5/10d any ideas of me going out with him. But he wouldn't leave me alone. He was an as 8/40 and as 6/18 that he was the perfect guy for me. He said if I did not believe me, his friends could at 6/18 to the fact that he was a great guy. Even though I told him he was a stuck up snob, he kept on re 8/40ing himself to me. I would have to re5/14 to him that I was not interested. I didn't make it ea 4/6 for this kid when he asked me out Whenever he asked me out on a date, I would make up an excuse and say I had something el4/4 to do.He even tried to bribe me to go out with him.He told me that if I went out with him, he'd give me his car ke 4/10 and let me drive his Mercedez Benz. But that didn't work. Then he said that if I let him be a ki 6/30 and allow him to ki 4/8 me just one time,he'd never ask me out again. That didn't work either. He was finally wi4/8 enough to give up on me after a ye4/6 of rejections from me. Now I'm going to get out of this se 4/4 & re7/28 to my bedroom to watch TV for the re 4/4 of the night. I will be return to this websi4/4 tomorrow to se4/8 words in the puzzle

and how about a clue for the do8
I got the te8, but missing the re8 and the do8 :)
Pickles - for the te8/40 - think of a woman's name from a Thomas Hardy novel - she came from The d'Urbervilles. Then add a period of time when something was popular ***, then add a vowel to end it.
te + double snakes + a****** (to add air to a fishtank)
do8 is an architctural term - add the alien who wanted to 'phone home to the end of the hobo who sleeps wherever he can.
now i got it ty
my name is in the grid!

Both te8s are plurals. One is Latin and one is English

the 1st te8 refers to volcanic rock. t + 'rubs out' word with a double consonant after the first letter.
