I loved my great grandma on Mom's side, she was a wild child, outlasted five husbands, died on her 89th bday sitting in bed yelling at someone in the family (I forget who) about whether they were all coming over to see her. (she didn't want them to, she had a boyfriend lined up!)
my dad's mother died when he was 9. His father died before dad was married. I did meet my mother's mother once when I was 8, and saw my mother's father once the same year when he was speechless from a stroke and bedridden.

we have a gas fireplace upstairs...2 sided..one in a living room and the other side faces the kitchen...haven't used it yet.......but the downstairs one near the TV room...use that one all of the time

like the fireplace...we had a wood one in MN....these are gas...it is nice to leave the pilot on ...then be able to just flip a switch and it's on...puts out nice heat during the cool winter nights

we have never used the downstairs one above the lowest setting.....it is enough for us and the wall above gets pretty warm from the hot air rising along it

my big project was to get all of the vcr/dvr/dvd/surround system/receiver/hdtv etc hooked up...the cable guy hooked up the tv...but i had to do the rest

i had all of the cables going into back of receiver labeled.....but the tv they left downstairs is totally different from our..which is in our bedroom now...so a lot of trial and error
we'll have to hire someone or have my brother come for a visit; we are both technologically challenged when it comes to any of that

Our kitchen is not designed efficiently - looks pretty, but inefficient. Hubby about had a coronary when I even hinted that a few things might be changed...
We're going to do that... king in basement eventually in guest suite and queen in one of extra bedrooms upstairs.... makes everything more comfortable for visitors
ours is same..has an island at an angle...narrow spots near pantry and fridge....and storage could be better...but the angle and the range in the island take most of the potetial storage space

we split the guest rooms...were going to have them next to each other but changed so one is up and the other down...that way they each have a bathroom and aren't falling over each other
Example - no cabinet over or near dishwasher for glasses or dishes... have to be carried a few feet away... We think that probably happened when they added bar didn't want to block view to the windows (which I get), but really inefficient

they look good - once I retire I plan to do more cooking - these would require a fair amount of modification for Frank to be able to eat them (would have to be gluten free and made with almonds, cashews, or pecans)
