Hey ru, do you have a Yahoo account? If so there's a similar game to Letterblox on there that you may like. Called "Word Racer". Another addiction. And there's a Scrabble game there too.
I played Word Racer with gremlinn one night.
He's serious competition.
I play weboggle
Where's that?
type in weboggle and you'll get there
i'm a killer in weboggle
heh, used to play wordracer all the time
I'm wondering if I have the link already... I have a lot of those game sites linked to on Google.
Oh yeah Mitch?
Do you still play?
Word racer is fun.
I play in Social Lounge 7 and at Table 1. There's a regular group of us who play there and know each other.
i drop in every so often, usually go in the intermediate lounge
i'll check it out right now
today's phantoms: phantom pangolin
You have Yahoo ru? What's your ID on there? If you have the messenger you can add me by my one and only online name. lol
This is the only one I use online... makes it easy.
i don't .. I have google stuff
200 down
I used to play a little online word game, can't remember what it's called, wish I could. I lost the link and info in the last big computer crash and replacement. I think you got a little red flower after your name once you got the big word for the day. Changed once a day like babble. anyone have any idea which game?
it had a chatbox and a little forum with it?
Oh, similar to Babble... a boggle type game?
What kind of a game was it rbud?
no idea rbud
no idea
i'm heading to bed.. night. bye all
Night ru.
nite ru! :)
You could try googling to find it, rbud.
well, it had a square of letters, and you actually had to click on the letters to put them into line to spell words, or maybe you could type them, too - they would line up outside the game, then you'd enter, and if it was a real word, it went on your list. More common words in bold, and not so common in italics.
it's driving me nuts trying to remember the name. it wasn't affiliated with anything like Yahoo or google, was independent. I think there were other types of word games on the site, too.
ga 7/52
might have to look through my ancient email archives in hopes of finding it, I tended to save initial emails for account setups.
Do you remember anything about it? Name wise?
Or anything at all... especially any words that would've been on that site?
And was it very similar to Babble... another word puzzle like this?
Missing 2 g's. I have ga 4 5 6 4 4 6 4 7 6 6 ge 4 4 6 7 5 5 4 gl 5 4 5 gn 4 4
I didn't mean that it was affiliated with Google... just that if you entered enough relevant keywords you may be able to find it in a search there.
Just about to post a list, ARB. ;)

don't remember the name at all, really. but I liked it. competitive bunch of folks, more or less the same 20 or so in the top scorers every day, friendly... hmmm... off to the email archives, hate that old email account...

ty Neil more Ambrosia for you.
Oh that's starting to sound familiar, rbud. Hmmm are there any Babblers on that site?
thanks Neil
Why thank YOU, scouser. lol
You're welcome, scouser and flosey.
morning babble friends! Any chance to beat this grid in about 45 mins? Am off to Zeeland later this morning, will be back Thursday night.
YES, ARB, I think that's it! thanks so much!

how could I forget the little dog, lol!

Good morning, sprite.
hey Haz :) Great to see you.
now if I can just remember my password, heehee! don't have access to that email account any more, really, so will maybe have to open a new one.
hello sprite, good to see you
hey flosey :) And vice versa. Sweet flowers.
It's strange, the same number of words two days in a row.
yeah i hit refresh...
yes, it is.
ah, there it is! not a grid though, I'd forgotten. It's letters in an X shape. hmmm...
Ks Killed
thanks sprite
I cannot imagine any big G word... a compound even! That would mean there is actually a compoundable G-word to be found... :)
it's less a compound and more a marine creature
ok thank you. new hunt!
If it likes loud colours, it might be a ga6/27 ga7/52
yay, thanks again, ARB, I'm in there! wow, hadn't been active there since Sept 2010, it said. Neato! I like the game.
that did it. Two for the price of one. Thanks Haz :D
You're welcome, sprite.
now this is one grid where the fi4 is not hidden behind latin names.
which game is that, rbud?
I enjoy it too rbud -- keeps the gray cells working!
evening all :)
rbud had been trying to remember an online game she played and ARB recognised the description. I'm not sure of the proper name - chihuahua.
Chihuahua - I'd forgotten it has one letter that has to be in all the words... distracted now, lol
lol the name in itself sounds fun already
hello mrP

thanks, will bookmark it and check it out after Zeeland :)
lff to bed, goodnight all
be back for a bit in the early morning
guess I was wrong about it having a chatbox, seems like it used to.
night, flosey
night flosey, sleep well
must be tough, when you have to use that one letter in every word
Haz, do you know the stats for the 10?
ha 10/91 chemical word
thank you :)
Sorry, not yet. (I'm sneaking a look at chihuahua)
hehehe me too. Cannot resist new word games.
It appears in different forms in some newspapers over here but it's fun to have a digital version.
got it, thanks ARB
it changes every day, like Babble, and there are harder ones you can choose each day - looks like they have 3 daily ones now, only had 2 when I used to play before.
yw Sprite
I know I was lucky to get done with the easiest one most days. :)
very nice. I love it when there is no time pressure.
yes, I don't much like timed games, just not that fast any more.
I feel like i did a real good deed today -- I may injure my elbow patting myself on the back for recognizing the game you were describing.
I like a few, like letterblox. But I like babble better.
woooot ARB :)
We'll give you a pat on the back as well, ARB.
Do you have to join up in order to do the harder ones?
please coul i have a clue for the 10
ha 10/91
it starts with something that makes you see things that are not there, Jjenny. And it ends in 'had for dinner'.
don't know, Haz, I remembered my password and am signed in now, didn't check the other tabs while I wasn't.
I'll investigate it more fully later. I can see it's going to be another port of call from now on.
i sure recognize several of the top names there, lol, hard to believe they are so devoted, still there years later.
I know! Imagine getting so devoted to an online game...
I like it too. A different angle from babble, I am frustrated by having to use that Y in every word. Very nice :)
imagine!
wouldn't happen to me. Never.
never!
We'd never be like that. Just can't imagine it.
heehee, giggling here! ;p
We're all rolling on the floor laughing at those addicts.
yeah... like they don't have anything better to do with their time. Jeez.
one of my favorite animals is in this grid! And it is a fun word too.
oh... and one of the syllable-alphabets of the japanese as well. What a fun grid today!
It's a pick-out-a-word-at-a-time type grid.
yeah that is true, not that many series. But fun words.
glad you're enjoying this grid, Sprite. I'm finding it hard and slow. Maybe because my mind is on all that has to be done before Passover on Friday.
quite possible, ARB. I hope you will just play as long as you have fun, and not longer :)
Addicts do not stop before the end -- you know that.
lol! So very true. I should be packing right now, but I have only 16 left... so you know... no packing for another 10 mins!
I've managed to become content with only halfway a lot of the time lately. I was bad at first, wanted to finish all the time. but I relaxed, and it's much nicer.
go go go
oh I am relaxed. I have left some grids unfinished and didn't think twice about it. But I love to find all the words. I love words.
My "go go go" was meant to encourage you to find those last words, not to leave.
roflol, thanks ARB :)
good morning
Good morning, ruby.
that pi7/44 looks Yiddish to me, but I think it isn't. Prob. alt spelling of the evil spell.
morning ruby
Don't recognize it as Yiddish -- but I agree it looks Yiddish
fi4flies. Loved this grid. Sorry I had to rush it. Bye all, have a lovely couple of days. I will be back Thursday night. *hugs*
it is an optical illusion, ARB, grin.
bye
Enjoy your trip, sprite.
thank you :)
where is Sprite going? Am I too late?
She's going on a short trip and will be back in a couple of days.
I was looking for the animal, thought it was kanga! duh

I know, I tried for fun and couldn't believe it.

mr p was here earlier, but i dont see the clues..boo hoo.. good morning all
List in Babanon and in my profile. Morning Ivesy.
oh ty molly, for the list.. much aprreciated
Just a copy, to make it easier to find.
Good morning everyone!
Hi Car
Hello! Beautiful sunny day here...how 'bout there?
Nice and sunny here too, but chillier than it's been.
Bus...brb
And they are on their way! Wheeee!
No Spring break this week?
In two weeks.
Oh, ours is always centered around Easter.
I wish it was. It is so hard to get up on the MOnday morning after Easter.
Well, with the plethora of Federal workers around here, it seems wise to center it around Easter, since so many people take days off and go away.
True.
Do you have plans for the Holiday?
My son works for a day care center and they are closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.
No school here on Friday either :)
No big plans, no.
Weren't there 273 words yesterday?
We are heading to Kadresa's.
Yes Bich, I had to look twice this morning.
Good morning Bichon!
The Car/Trif family always celebrates well. : )
We try!
And Likcety is not up today?
I read that Lickety was going to go back down around Easter. I guess we go without for a while until further notice.
We have each other!
phantom: kangaroo
My phantom is harlot, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
It's a beautiful day in CT. Sunny and in the 60's

Beautiful here too Bichon!
LOL Molly!

If you do, you can go do your le4en penance in the PB

I'll put a little kneeler right next to the bar.
I will be giving absolution with the holy water of St. Jameson immediately following penance.
God Bless St. Jameson!

goodnight all
Minveryork is going to have to work hard to get these words woven into a story. Good morning/afternoon all.
mornin all
Good morning, EvaN.
::sigh:: dealing with an unreasonable husband this morning. trying to find the right words to make him see hes about to make a big mistake.
Well, from my experience, using the words 'idiot, fool and nincompoop' won't do the trick.
morning
Good morning, harpjane.
his brothers wedding is next weekend. he is very hurt that his brother didnt ask him to be in the wedding, and he is angry that his brother never even spoke to him about why. now hes saying that not only is he not going to the wedding, but he never wants to speak to him again.
i know hes only thinking these things out of hurt and anger, but HE thinks he is thinking clearly.
this is the brother who is like one of his favorite people in the world.
dear abby would say go alone if he won't go
Could you get his brother to call him? Explain the situation and see what was behind the decision not to have your husband take part?
morning all... that is a sad story. any idea why brother did not include him?
are there any op words?
Yes, harpjane, think stones.
i think its already past that point. their mother already knows hubby is very upset + if she cant get brother to call, no one can. plus, i feel its really his brothers decision who he wants to have in his own wedding. sure, you can be hurt about not being included, but to disown him over it is WAY harsh.
Also op4 and plural op5.
his brother didnt include ANY of the family. so its not like my hubby specifically was left out. the only family included is our nephew, the ring bearer.
thanks
Maybe it's just your husband's way of highlighting just how hurt he is.
how old are these people eva, and is it his first marriage?
i know thats what it is, haz. but i feel that a statement like skipping your brothers wedding is very strong + may do irreparable damage.
harp, my hubby is 34 + his brother is just 24.
I agree, it's going too far to say that he'll never speak to him again, but some talking does need to happen before the wedding if only to reassure your husband that he's not being targeted for exclusion.
Go without him if you have to eva, (my two cents worth)
harp, i plan to. not really concerned about that (though i know that will make hubby extremely upset). i just dont want to see him ruin this relationship with his brother, and potentially the rest of his family.
Does the bride to be know what's happening?
I can think of a lot of reasons why a 24 year old would want a younger person in the wedding.
i have no idea. honestly, i dont even know if the brother really knows. hubby has been fuming in private for a while. the wedding is just over a week away. i feel like the time to say something has already passed. if someone had brought me something like this right before my wedding, it would have really upset me.
I know, EvaN, I understand how the wedding can take up so much time and energy, but something has to be done, heads have to be knocked together in kindly and non-injuring fashion.
I don't think that a 24 yr old man knows how important it is to include family members in his wedding party.
actually, i think his brother DOES generally have his wits about him, and knowing him, i was actually surprised he didnt invite his brothers to be in the wedding. but in the end, its his wedding, and i think he has the right to invite whoever he wants.
Your husband needs to understand that this decision makes sense to his young brother.
I hope your husband can let this go and still celebrate the wedding.
In MY family, we're always relieved if we're not asked to take any particular responsibility at a wedding....
Haha, Jane.
I don't get not including brothers in the wedding party. I can see why your husband is upset Eva.
im trying to get my husband to see that if youre upset about something, you need to either start a conversation about it, or let it go. you cant just let it fester. and dont act hastily on emotion. something said or done in the heat of the moment can last a lifetime. if he doesnt attend his own brothers wedding, not only could it ruin his relationship with his brother, it will affect the way his entire family sees him. including me.
unfortunately, when hubby is in this frame of mind, he doesnt get the impact of those things. he just gets into a "screw all of you, then" mentality.
but then, we're all church musicians and have an overly bizarre sense of how much work a wedding can be!
And the wedding isn't about your husband. Not being in the wedding party should not define the relationship of the brothers.
I want KANGAROO
I'll be the lone one out on this and say that I respect your husband's hurt feelings and I can see why he doesn't want to go to the wedding.
It's a difficult situation but you're right to try to stave off a fracturing in relationships. It's usually women who get uptight about weddings.
any clues for the ha10?
It would be much worse if he hadn't been invited to the wedding at all. Take that as a starting point, your brother in law wants your husband to be there.
this is why men only want to know when the wedding is 1 hour away and have the suit sitting on the bed.i have been to a few disaterous family weddings (wife and i had a small one and it was fine)
molly, i respect his hurt feelings, and i dont think feeling that way is really out of line. i have an issue with his boycotting the wedding. i think its going to do more damage than he cares to admit. right now, he doesnt care, but i know him and he will in the future.
Eva, I hope this settles down for you and your husband.
i am sorry you are having this wedding nightmare eva:(
crossy, this time it is a MAN making the fuss!
:(
Peace to all. Life is too short to let emotions trump reason.
since it is all about the bride, generally if you go on her cues,it will all be good.like the commercial says"while every ones looking at her,she is looking at you.my father and my sister have not spoken for ten years over her wedding disaster:(
at this point, i think the best i can do is pray hubby sees the light and decides to go to the wedding. the second best i can do is pray he doesnt get too upset with me when i get without him.
(still waiting for ha 10 )
It's pretty extreme to not ask a brother to be in the wedding unless there is already an estrangement, which I assume there is not.
ga 7/52 plz
Me too, Jane
ha10 - to the saintly ring add the first letters of the first biblical book, finish with consumed food.
ty haz
Or stick a consumed food ending to the ha7, lighting stuff.
or turn something into a light bulb?
TY
ga7/52 - an aquatic creature? Think Greta and add the ending.
sorry that is waaaay over my head lol
ty though..
me too
Okay, first three letters of what you do when your throat is sore and you swish liquid around, then what swims with fins etc.
ty
I was thinking of Greta ***bo, the isolated film star.
Oh NOW I get the first clue!
now that i got ! ty haz
molly, no estrangement really. they dont really spend enough time together, but when they are together, they get along great and really enjoy each others company. his brother helped us move + was one of the first people to call to say congratulations on our new house. MY brother hasnt even called, emailed, seen the house or offered to help.
ohhhhh greta .... duh now i see
Glad it worked.
or imagine if a library lion was a whale....
oh gosh.. plug in mouse died again... i hate mouse on laptop..whine whine whine
my i.s.p is being a pain today:(
did u take an aspirin crossy.. mite help ....:)
lol,i will give it a shot
hi, all. I know this is not a word, but it could be a Dr Suess gem: Elefish.
one fish two fish elefish blue fish
How about tefish - an obsession for dyslexics
I was reading The Cat in the Hat with a kid in the office yesterday. She thought it was silly, which is what Suess intended.
for those in the eye biz and know from me over the years that my beloved has vision issues,i finally have the exact identification of the ailment(funny, ten years on and you have to sometimes rip information of of the doctor with a crow bar) it is call chronic cystoid macular oedema and chronic iritis(both eyes)..have to love dr,s
Aha, Crossy. But no cure, right?
seems we have qualified for the last ten years for a tax credit on this and my preparer just told us this this year!
none scrabbs, the inflammation in the back of the eye is lessening, but any damage done is forever
So can you recover $?
and the floaters and cell build up will continue
we can indeed
I found a 7 by myself--rare event for me. re7 = element of a chemical reaction.
he has a laser and once every year or so will use the sonic? vibration form it to blast cell build up
Can she see any shadows?
her vision is stable at 20/400
anything beyond 4 feet is a blur, there is no depth perception when walking
Does she get around the house ok?
her visual field in degrees is 110
she does ok,i have things set up well, she cannot use the stove but can do simple things in the microwave
and with the invetion of the e-book reader can now read books again
Well, keep her happy. She is lucky to have you.
she can dress, bathe and all of that.she compensates well,of course she will never drive
it is my honor to keep her happy:)
When did she lose vision?
the e-book is the biggest breakthrough for her in the last 5 years
1992
it was a progressive thing
and she has 2 glass lenses in her eyes, had cateracts removed in 2004
lol, sorry people did not mean to hog the chog on this.just the accurate book identification was a nice thing to finally see
So she knows what things look like, which is more than for kids born blind. I have a patient, a 7 yr old boy, born blind, and it is heartbreaking for the parents but the older brother adores and guides him.
It makes me think of that classic question: would you rather be blind or deaf? (if you had to lose a sense)
it is and it is not scrabby, because the blind boy knows nothing else.but yes tough for the chiuldren
i would rather be deaf
easy choice
Yes, little Ronan knows no other life.
I agree with that choice, Crossy.
he has never seen, green,or yellw,or seen the sky or a tree"green" itself would be a foreign concept
it is tougher i think on the parents and the brother than ronan
So true.
if the household treats his lack of sight like a every day usual thing of not much importance, ronan will adapt better.we have several families like this and it is astounding how they get along
of course the house must be laid out just so
At 115/158 I must get ready to spend the afternoon and evening with my late friend's kids. The little one gets home from preschool at noon.
at least till bionic eyes become widely available
Enjoy the day, my friend.
tc scrabby
Bye, Scrabbler.
Bye my Irish lass!
we now return you to you original programming and the stewerdess to her original upright position;)
Haz--a friend and I are pondering a UK trip for next yr. I told her about my UK friends that I need to meet.
Next year being 2013?
Yep. She has been there twice, most recently 3 or 4 yrs ago, and she wants to bring me to Buttermere. I told her that I have friends all over to meet.
The Lake District (Buttermere) is lovely but you'll not find it difficult to find interesting places to visit and people to meet!
I will let you know when we get into serious planning. Haz, Liz, Atalante, etc.
Will you be able to fit in a visit to George in Italy?
Italy will be a separate trip someday.
is lizsark still in here? she is on that neat island just off the coast.would be great to stop in there as well scwabby
I'm pretty sure liz is no longer on the island.
Does anybody has today's stats?
She loved to the Taunton/Somerset region and her photos are stunning.
ahh
Bye!
Bye, Scrabbler.
bye scwabby
Kenny -- Neil's are in Babanon
Kenny, there's a list in Babblers Anonymous and also in Molly's profile. But it's a stinker of a grid!
gm everyone...clue for the ha5.12?
ha5/12 - the hawaiian babblet.
ha plus Spanish cheer
ty haz
never remember that babblet
ty, Haz. thought i had that already. doh
not a babblet once you have lived there
That's true, steve.
well, nothing is a babblet, once you have eaten it,worn it,lived there or whatever steve
very true
once you have chased geese around the big hawaiian island, nene is also just a bird word:)
of course we could chase a nene around a gaelic cwm and hit him on the head with an etui:) and go to a beach on ha 5/12 and cook him in the ground on a black sand beach:)..lol time for a tea
though never ever use the plural
these 5's are just not wanting me to find them! la5.10 the first one, plz?
The only stats I found in B A were from yesterday. Something is wrong with my computer.
la plus start of Mr Onassis
Haz is my hero!! ty.
ty haz
You're welcome, lb, crossy.
morning
Nono and Molly have lists in their profiles. Kenny
Kenny, bear in mind that there were 273 words yesterday and the same number today.
no lickety:(
So, just check that you're not seeing today's list and thinking it's for yesterday.
::whew:: i think i may have talked hubby into going to the wedding. basically got him to talk to me + say all the things i knew he was feeling. he started talking about all the GOOD stuff that makes him happy, and now that hes gotten it out of his system, i think he may be resigned to go...
today's list starts out with aa4.5, Kenny
Well done, EvaN. I'll be happy to recommend you for a diploma for diplomacy.
heh, i dunno about that, but i DO know my hubby pretty well. i know sometimes he just needs to work through his emotions -- and even though *I* can tell how hes really feeling, sometimes *he* doesnt know until he has to work through them.
It's good he can talk to you and well done for listening to him. That's important.
its easier to listen when we chat online. he cant notice my multi-tasking or me sighing or rolling my eyes when he comes to a realization that ive known forever...heh
How do I find Nono and Molly?
Good Marriage is not for slackers!
Go to 'who's online' and click on either of their profiles.
Thanks
Or if they're not online, go to Rankings, do control F and type in their name.
i bite my tongue so often to work for a good marriage. pick your battles. :)
Amen Eva!
i say this as someone who has only been married for a year + a half...heh soon i will have a hole through my tongue. ;)
fore
It'll be 30 years this year for us and we continue to live with two bears in the house (as advised by my father years ago) Bear and forbear.
sorry. pb but i've been married 26 years and i think it goes better if you don't have unrealistic expectations
good marriages take a lot of work. lots of talking and listening! compromise and patience
And laughter, lots of laughter.
being married is not for sissies.. that's for sure
oh yes, lots of laughter!!
That is common that our arguements end in either a simple i'm sorry or in laughter or both
Hello, ruru.
*waves to Haz*
*waving back* How are you? Apart from not being a sissy?
I'm fine thank you...
And your knees?
my only expectation is that he will constantly surprise me with how out-of-touch with reality he is. usually thats refreshing and wonderful. but sometimes it is frustrating and makes me want to punch him in the throat. :)
well... my knees are another story
Yes, I thought so. But you're going to get them sorted soon, aren't you?
yes
phantom: eagle and angle
lol eva, pick you battles indeed.i am 19 years in and can tell you it is better and more harmonious to give up the odd battle, cause it is a long, long ,long war and when she is not happy, you are not happy:)
last pa5.12?
pa5/12 - a vowel short of the shortened jail sentence
eventually you learn what is worth wasting your energy on:)
i miss lickety, his list alphabetises them in the right order! urgh!! had that one need the one after the french city.
also phantom: tangle
you're not helping pickles
That is the one after the French city.
sorry, i'll stop. i can't evacuate it from my brain until i share
i thin i need a break, sort out my list and attempt again with fresher brain. ty for all your help, Haz
lbd you 've been watching too much I Love Lucy
No problem, lb, it's a tricky one today.
lol ru. just caught my typo.
biab, fresh coffee should help...right?
this grid is so evil,i do not know whether to drive a wooden stake through my monitor or sprinkle it with holy water
it seems to be helping me lbd
It's comforting to think so, lb.
lol, crossy
good morning everyone
Good morning, flosey.
howdy flosey
lo 5/14= there is a airport by this name and also a movie called lo**** run(good old time sf movie btw)
Hi everyone! I take it there is no list today??
michael york? was he in that, crossy?
molly has one
i cannot remember now amelu
sorry, just popped in my head....
I'm in the grid!!
:o)
Hello, Flask, in molly and Nono's profile and also in BabAnon.
yaa for phae!
273 yesterday....and the same today??
273 tomorrow too
I know, what are the chances?
and of course it is a proper word ty phae
Hi Haz, how are you? Do you have any snow?
Well it totally confused me!!
We're having little skiffs and flurries but nothing is lying, thank goodness.
LOL! We use little skiffs to tool around the bayou in.
What about yourself, Flask? The forecast wasn't great.
hi there, chilly but sun shining here thank goodness :D
Its never stopped here since 8 o'clock this morning, but its not lying.....thank goodness!!
do not think you get skiff of snow on the bayou amelu:)
now you got me hungering for a lobster shrimp boil southern style
crossys mind cross-connects like that:))
does anyone have a clue for to8 please?
In this context, skiff comes from the Scots skiff 'to move lightly barely touching the surface'.
to8 - being accepting of another's point of view
thanks Haz
ty haz
You're welcome.
yup, that's pretty much what a skiff is here, surface being water...
we have a small local boat here amelu know as the "watts skiff" was very popular with the fishermen right untill the 20,s or so
a shallow draught boat often fitted with one sail and a small rudder
done east coast "dory" style sometimes
lol, crossy shuts up and goes back to his tea and the grid
and, yes, tyvm haz. our skiff is actually a john boat... I googled your's, crossy, much different...
better run, meeting at 10: bbl
prettier, tho.
is a John Boat a watercraft for prostitutes?
It must be so difficult for non-English speakers when we use the same word to mean different things.
have often thought about that, haz. Being someone who learns other languages fairly easily (russian for one), I think that learning English must be one of the most difficult.
they say english is one of the tougher languages to learn
LOL @ ruru! :o) only if it's used to get the prostitute from the river bank to the houseboat.
and spanish the easiest
clue for ha10 please?
I agree, Dorens. It's just not logical when compared with French or German.
gives one a whole new meaning to Take me to The RIver..
Flask, if you have the ha7, add 'consumed food' to the ending.
and soooo many different spellings to produce the same sound (french does have it's share of that, but not close to ours)
not incandescent + having consumed, flask
and it is now time for crossys quote of the day!!!
"Once he had one leg in the White House and the nation trembled under his roars. Now he is a tinpot pope in the Coca-Cola belt and a brother to the forlorn pastors who belabor halfwits in galvanized iron tabernacles behind the railroad yards." - H. L. Mencken, writing of William Jennings Bryan, counsel for the supporters of Tennessee's anti-evolution law at the Scopes "Monkey Trial" in 1925.
thanks folks...got it!
Glad you got it, Flask.
<---Now has Talking Heads playing in the brain track
I have a Mencken one that is SO apt when applied to the current crop of Republican clowns: "As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
It doesn't say much for his opinion of Americans, does it?
Not ALL Americans
Just the stupid ones who clearly don't deserve a vote. Is that what he's saying or is my interpretation incorrect?
You are over-interpreting. He was just being clever.
Besides, we DID have a moron in the White House, once or twice.
clue for an8please?
an8 - consumer of insects
ty Haz!
You're welcome.
Howdy, all. Aww gee. We're one O short of a kangaroo.
Hello, Judi.
and a phantom orphan
Hello, diane.
good morning/afternoon, everyone !
Hi, Haz
Love your cup, saucer etc. ! I love china !
They're pretty, aren't they? I bought them online last year from a website called everythingstopsfortea.
It's Royal Doulton 'Full blown roses'.
I have royal albert American beauty rose... and some treasured Limoges and I must put up my German porcelain hot choc set.... is that the general theme for today?
No, the themes have kind of gone by the board since so few people were doing them. I've just put this up because it's pretty.
I'll do the same :-)
I used to have my dog's photo up but when she died I decided I needed to change.
Have you thought of getting another dog yet, Haz?
We've talked about it, Flask, but husband is much more reluctant than I'd expected. He found Spangle's death very difficult to cope with. I'm hoping he'll come round to the idea.
Hi All!
Oh am sorry to hear that Haz!
hi again all!
Goodness, spellit! How are you?
Hello, uusue.
Fine thanks Hazel - enjoying married life in a quiet Hampshire village
Lovely, glad to know that married life is agreeing with you.
Coming up to our first wedding anniversary soon - how time flies
The grandchildren all well? Wasn't Millie your little granddaughter who used to appear in your profile?
We have 4 of Jane's here today, then 5 of mine for Easter including Millie!
I need to update my profile and photo
That's great, I'm so pleased for you.
Have you been babbling in silence all along or did you take a break?
I took a break as we were out visiting a lot, but I can't really kick the habit
It kind of gets a hold of you, doesn't it?
back again - meeting delayed due to ferry delay
Not too keen on these 273 ones though
This particular 273 one is a stinker.
Hello again, flosey.
I agree Haz
hi flosey!
See the old faithful volcano is still with us!
yes, old faithful babblet
Yes, it's kind of comforting that the old faithfuls still appear - a bit like babblers!
Off to get some tea now so back later - bye all
I found several words that aren't accepted. Spangle is almost in the grid, Haz. As is Pangea, Anglo, Pharo, etc. etc.
Bye, spellit, lovely to see you again.
You're right, Judi, lots of almost words.
hi judi!
also Frango (for those who remember Marshall Fields)
ty for an8,help with other 8'sand the 10 pls
And I apologize for being so little help with those "almost" words.
and anything ending in -gle, which I keep finding (tangle, angle, and so on)
ha10/91 builds on ha7/40, a type of light bulb
to8 - understanding of other's point of view
or: ha7 = angel head ornament + ladies and ***tlemen
then add "consumed" for the 10
pa8/45 - alternative spelling of mental condition where you're convinced 'they're out to get me'
ty fo the ha,s suze
hi8/55 is Japanese writing, not sure how to clue it by spelling
ty looking
thanks for the pa8, haz!
gotthe ha10 ty
hi8/55 - hi plus a cloth in tatters, Siam governess minus a consonant.
Or hi plus a well worn cloth (three) then the ending of the yellow bendy fruit.
ty for the pa 8 haz
You're welcome.
thanks for the pa 8 Haz
You're welcome, diane.
I was saying earlier on that Minveryork is going to have to be extra creative to get some of these words woven into her clue story.
ty for the hi 8 haz
Yes. Those were all tongue twisters. Not to mention brain-bending.
I watched a documentary on the Austrailian invasion by Cain Toads the other night. What a mess!
When did it happen? The invasion, I mean.
They're not very decorative, that's for sure.
Not sure when the doc was filmed, Haz. I believe it's still on-going. Darwin was the last stronghold. They had a tactical perimeter set up. Volunteers going out at night and catching thousands of toads. Then they bag them up and throw them in the freezer. Once the toad is dead, apparently the venom is no longer hazardous. On a positive note, the are turning the dead toads into fertilizer!
tadone!! finito! monkeys are weary and brain is mush.
TY to ever talked about pinterest. Just blew the better part of an hour setting it up
I feel your pain, lb. Well done!
special delivering truffles and triffles for all your help and patience, Haz
Thank you very much, lb!
must go now and relax in my kitchen...time to make lunch. HAGD everyone
The toads were introduced (imported from Central America) in the late 30's to erradiate the sugar cane beetles. Turns out, the toads ate everything BUT the sugar cane beetles and turned out to be toxic to all predators. A wee squirt of venom can kill eve a large croc.
*erradicate*
Oh dear, somebody didn't do the research.
eradicate
Pardon my wonky spelling.
Every time someone corrected my spelling, it was correct forever -- so I do it now and then
No, it was and still is an environmental disaster. The poor Aussies have endured more than their fair sh5 of plagues. Sugar cane beetles, rabbits...
If only the rabbits could eat the beetles.
crossy, I saw a picture of beautiful Georgian Bay in the Sierra Club Magazine
Paul Mcartney is in horror right now Haz
They are working on a biological concoction that is being designed to prevent the tadpoles from developing into toads. At the time of filming, they said a solution was a decade away. Ultimately, they will be spraying the swamps, billabongs and other areas where the toads procreate.
I know, they're herbivores, aren't they?
hint for the 10 pls
Even the tadpoles are toxic. The toads eat insects, worms, smaller animals and lizards. They even cannibalize other toads.
Really is the super toad from hell.
bichon, ha10 works from ha7/40 - think bright light
Okay. Enough environmental horror stories. I'm off to run an errand. See you fabulous humans tomorrow! *POOF*
Bye, Judi, watch out for the toads!

aw, poor puppy
howdy stid.. maybe the dog was acting up because he wanted to go outside!
he's acting up because the brand-new budgies have been really bizarre this morning, fluttering around and almost deliberately planting themselves in front of him on the floor. I am going to be nervous every time they are out of cage until their wing feather grow back.
maybe doggie saw a word in the grid that you didn't see, and was trying to tell you!
... long time ago there was a movie with Jack Lemmon titled "How to Murder Your Wife" ... ... he murdered his wife by sticking her in the machine that produced the gl4/7 ... that is where I would like to stick the author of today's grid ... ... must take a break ...
that IS a possibility, gwen!

hi sue :)
howdee UU Sue!
hey sue! I did a poem on "far infrared" for today. I think it's not very good, but I am learning SO MUCH about science with this project!
have you heard the lates UU joke?
nice, stid! I've been following your blog, so will probably read it tonight.
ooh, tell me, gwen!
go for it, gwen!
okay, so there's a real estate agent trying to sell a little country church. he is showing it to all sorts of religious folks, ministers, pastors, etc . . .
*waiting*
. . . one day he is showing it to a reverend gentleman, and the client asks, how many will it seat? the estate agent pauses, not wanting to offend, and says . . .
. . . well, if you're a baptist, about 200, or if you're a unitarian, about 75
(rimshot!)
Bah-dum-ching!
oh, dear, now i'm wondering if i have to explain it . . . lol
umm, does that imply that Unitarians eat more than baptists?.. sorry.. I am dense
I'm sure I will get it eventually, gwen...
rofl @ gwen's joke
the stereotypical unitarian is prickly and distant, thus they do not sit close together . . .
unitarian = uni (single, solitary)....
ah! ty Gwen
ah, that was a stereotype with which I was not familiar
of course i am a universalist, not all that prickly 8-D
okay, i got a better one (she says hopefully):
we had a lot of light bulb jokes at our April Fools service but I don't remember them well enough to reproduce
gwen is a cuddly UU! *silly mama grin*
wish I could remember jokes..
gonna copy this one right out of my book y'all . . . okay, here i go
Once upon a future time, the Starship Uniprise was crossing over the Bible Belt into the Fundamentalist Zone to respond to a distress call from a UU Association outpost. "Spock, what can you tell me about these people?" Kirk demanded. . . .
aloyisius, make one up! Like this: what do you get when you cross a teenager? ANGST!
. . . "The library computer has little information, Captain," Spock replied. "Logically, however, we may deduce from their name, 'Unitarian Universalist,' that since 'Unitarian' means one, and 'Universalist' means everything, that these people believe in one of everything."
rofl gwen!
very cute, gwen!
ty stid 8-)
LOL.. got that one!
and then there is the one about why there are no UUs in heaven -
do tell
apparently there is a fork in the road to heaven, with a sign - one way says "To Heaven". The other way says "To a Discussion about Heaven".
You can guess where all the UUs are :-)
oh ar!
*giggle @ sue*
my son and dil have started going to unitarian services and enjoy them very much.. now I'll have to ask them if it is uu or just u
(more better jokes here) http://www.gwenfoss.com/bookdetails.as p?book=222
hi hi

ah, thanks for the o, aloy!
nbt!

yvw Annie
am hitting a wall with 90 left, eek
...but before that I give you one more UU light bulb joke:
How many Unitarian Universalists does it take to change a light bulb? We choose not to make a statement either in favor of or against the light bulb. However, if you have found in your own journey that light bulbs work for you, that is fine. You are invited to write a poem or compose a modern dance about your personal relationship with your light bulb and present it next month at our annual light bulb Sunday service in which we will explore a number of light bulb traditions, including incandescent, fluorescent, three- way, long-life, and tinted, all of which are equally valid paths to luminescence.
might be nice to be prepared, sue! LOL
oh dear lol
go ahead
rofl sue
i love it!
good one!
(to be honest, that one is already in captivity on my puter, tho)
tinted! I'm ok with all those light bulbs, but I'd NEVER let a TINTED one in MY HOUSE
Yes, it has been around for a while :-)
ugh I need a nap
and of course it predates the new LED option...
i have all but one smart fluorescent, and the other one is a LED-bulb
LED-users are the most-recent to receive illumination... *assumes lotus position*
former pres in the grid, but his name won't work
eisenhower?

hey all
hi, stid
ao6/18?
I actually went outside and PRUNED the little hedge that goes around the front fig tree!! *proud mama look* good thing, too -- it's a mildly invasive little box-like shrub and I had to pull a number of starts that invaded last year...
plural heart hose?
pickle...latin plural of something of the heart
a little more ambitious than me! I loaded and ran the dishwasher and then walked out to check the mail! LOL
rolin's clue is better.
woo-hoo mcurl!
you're an ambitious, woman, to be sure! LOL
all the "gle" phantoms are bugging me too... hi everyone!
I just chased stidkid and his gf outside for a short walk -- then she will go home. And then he and I have errands to run. And at some point I am going to figure out how to make "pulled pork" I think...
hey viajes
any o from the last column for nbt
oh! phantom for me today: eagle -- yesterday there were THREE eagles (bald, of course) flying together in the sky and calling back and forth. It was magical...
op4 pretty october birthstone
i'm blind
gives pickles official babble tile tester to help navigate grid
thanks stid; can't believed I didn't see it! Pulled pork is not very hard. I don't do it very often but check out foodnetwork for ideas.
thanks mcurl -- got the idea when I saw Costco had four pork loins in a package, and thought I could make four pulled porks from that instead of paying premium for the pre-made stuff. We'll see... LOL my kitchen experiments are great when they turn out, but there are never any guarantees.
oh, a true fi4! oa 7
stidkid says, "Hey mcurl, how are you?"
isn't that all part of the fun???
tell stidkid howdy and doing pretty good
I made pulled pork from the shoulder. Is it better from the loin?
I don't know bichon, I have to buy what's available and affordable... which is getting to be a smaller and smaller selection these days. *sigh* If we are having to cut corners and shop at the heavily discounted outlet stores, what are the people who have been using them all along doing?
got some things going on that trying to figure out but not the place here to go through it all. I know everyone is so supportive---it's just something we have to do at home!
oh no! no lickety today?!
I love lickety:(
there is a list at babanon
Bich, I use the cheaper cuts of pork to make pulled pork. We have the loin for Sunday roast dinners.
molly has a list
i know pickles; the bizarre thing is the list from the other day is the same number of words as today--
For 273 words, there susre isn't a whole lot to work with here. I only have one 7 letter word
(((mcurl))) I am going to be out for a while, but if you want to call, I will send you my # in fb. ONLY if you want to call. And if you want to go for a walk around Capitol lake at some point this week, let me know. Or McLean Creek trail, haven't been there in a while.
go bichon go!
I never had so much trouble getting half way
I have both you numbers; I may just take you up on that walk---I'm thinking about coming up to Carmon's on Thursday as they will be home from hawaii on friday
I need 15 more to get half way
alton brown has a recipe at the foodnetwork site, and he uses pork butt. But he also uses a smoker... "still looking"
:-) let me know. Will be happy to see you any time.
same here stid!
going to the grocery
brb
okay! gf is out the door to take the test for running start (college classes in high school)... hope she does well. She's smart but has test anxiety. *rolls eyes* an all-too common condition these days.
oh! down to 99!
back later probably... it's a good day for babbling.

Hi all...is lickety screwed up today?
ha5.12 white man in Hawiian ha & dig a h***

I am only missing to 8. But, I only have one of the the 13 7 letter words. Yoiks
this grid is a hard mistress
it is indeed, west, hi all
wow, I have only half of them
hi peri
You'd figure that with 273 words, the s would be more helpful
only have 2 7 letter words
hi Peri
... this is the hardest grid I've seen in a long, long time
107 left
hint - to8 has the picnic pest on the end
to8 ... to have patience with ... to make allowance for ...
tyvm dose
List if anyone is looking for one: http://tinyurl.com/7nd4c87
TY BabRab and hi
Hello

ty
that's okay..I love to sing
I read somewhere that people actually named their daughter that
really? nothing surprises me anymore
wonder what future they had in mind for her?
Neveah, heaven spelled backwards.
my daughter just informed me that she would be hanging out with her friend "Thaiasia" on their 6 flags trip.
I guess that's if it wasn't blown away by those tornadoes this afternoon
do you suppose her parents met there?
how is that pronounced?
ack are they there?
West, perhaps??? Bich- it's TIE-ASIA
your guess is as good as any
No, west, they don't go until May 5. We were talking about it while I was writing the check for her to take to school
here's a good one..3 sisters..friends of our 3rd daughter..Nova, Scotia and Canada
Wow!
whew magmom !!
poor girls - though I do like Nova
can you guess where their parents were from?
Yes! Double whew! Being from Oklahoma, I have a large number of friends who migrated to the DFW area after school. I spenta lot of time texting this afternoon
Hi, kids. Hey, lynxxx - we were having a chat about Cain Toads earlier today. Has your area been overrun by them yet?
hi Judi - no they are up North. Originally introduced to eat the Cane Toads (hence their name). We are probably too cool for them down here in Victoria
hi judi!
I watched a documentary about them last night. Crazy how fast they procreate.
I was always amused by the name of the lady my parents bought their house from. She was a twin and their names were Okla June and Homa Jane. Of course they went by June and Jane
Like the Duggars : )
Eeeh. What some parents must be thinking...
Mag, I hope all your friends are okay. I did some checking in with my Texan friends today too. All good.
Thanks Molly! So far,so good. Most of the bad stuff missed their areas. Very grateful that they are all ok!
I seem to be well stuck on 43 - can't get past it - BBL
... it has now been demonstrated that the most effective method for completing today's grid is to use only the cross-eyed monkeys from the infinite pool of monkeys ... these words were far too twisty ... ... good luck all those who are still working on it
well there's the problem. I got the crosseyed monkeys glasses!
Can't stay an chat as on iphOne but sending love from Aus to Trxas peoples effected(affected) by the tornados
i am sorry, behind in the news, did something happen in dallas today?
nm,guess i can google it
Two big twisters, crossy.

this grid not only has teeth,it has talons, and i am quite sure was spawned in the 7th circle of hell:(
and yet when you eventually find the words they aren't that strange - just hard to see
maybe i need my trifocals...

hi 8 is a type of japanese writing...
hey all
dont have pa 8. clue please
doren, you're up late... spring vacation?
PA 8 is similar to a psychiatric ailment that relates to thinking everyone is against you
hi stid. yes vacation this week... and went away for a few days... long ride home today . just got in about an hour or so ago. how goes subbing?
got first 4 letters of pa 8 but not sure how to continue
do you use morewords mkg?
cons.. then ends in 3 vowels
ty got it.
also on vacation this week -- I taught two days for a teacher I have heard many good things about... and when she got back she sent me a note on how pleased she was -- and then asked me back for a planned absence later this year!!! *proud mama teacher look* AND a teacher I taught for earlier this year has me scheduled for a three-day fill in later this month, too!
yes do use morewords but prefer to get clues.
see stid~!! told you! you are a natural and word of mouth + experience will land you the right job

Clue for teh Ha 10 please

ha 10 = to make into the special salt-gas used in neon-like lighting
Thanks Stid I remember that clue
from earlier
the seafood always reminds me of a polka band OOM- PAH PAH
would love clues for the op 5. seafood? what cant i get this one? octopus, no. squid no. lobster no. shrimp no. clams no. scallops no. crab no.
it's not a seafood, more of a fresh water f4
change the last letter of the stone
MKG think of Op?? Winfrey minus a letter
trying jane.
tried winfrey first name. no.
the op5 is plural
op4/6 and op5/24 (pl).
take out the r
ah! thanks for that op combo. down to 72 now
ooops - op5/14, sorry\
Hence the minus a letter
i am confused.
op winfrey without the r
i have tried op and cons and every vowel around. from winfreys name. left out r and put vowels in. no luck.
all right, last one -- fo7/40?
nbt, nbs
is there an H in the o words?
yes
mkg, you should be looking for a FOUR letter word, Ms WInfrey's name is 5
mkg - just leave out the R, don't put anything in
mkg ... --R-- ... get it?
so type in her name and take one letter out at a time
so if i leave out the r i should have it and it says not in dict.
It should work
john kerry *** for president be**** this election (and then switch them around, viajes)
Ok this grid is going to drive me up the wall. so take care and talk later
woo-hoo! Thanks Dorens!
off for now -- might be back tomorrow -- depends on the amount of nana duty I can volunteer for!
nite herin (at least it is here) see ya later yw viajes
well maybe i cant spell winfreys name right.
sweet dreams nan! ENJOY!
all right, knocked out the Fs; time for bed
op** is the op 4, then plural for the op 5
sweet dreams viajes

then spell the marx brother who plays a musical instrument backwards
have a lovely day, lady...
mkg - wikipedia her or something for the spelling.
winfreys name has 6 letters. i left the r out. sstill not getting it. and if i leave last letter off it is 4. disct says wont take it.
no it has five
her first name has five letters ...

I am tired, going to head out (taking elder stidkid back to his housesitting) back tomorrow at some point.
