yep and yu 5
nbs
צי ×יר רעדן ייִדיש?
Ugh. Why did it put my question mark at the wrong end?
we may be missing the same y
Yes, and read and write both Hebrew and Yiddish
I thought you would. ;)
wtg arb!
oh my, 41 B words and most grids have none!
Because while Microsoft knows enough to put the Hebrew letters right to left, it always puts thepunctuation left to right
kinda stupid on their part :)
I wondwered about that, arb, when I saw neil's question mark -- not that I know any Hbrew except its direction, lol!
Not realy, Dee. Just saving development time (and money) -- the right to left market is not that large
Actually, I take that back -- Arabic is also right to left.
a valid point
Well I had it on the correct end before I pasted it from a notepad into here, Arb... so that's weird.
aren't some Chinese dialects that way?
And a lot of Microsoft's development is done is Israel -- they have a huge research and development center here. As do Intel, Google, etc etc
not seeing that ba 9
I think they're right to left but down and up too -- I have some books like that, and they're also back to front.
think tavern, nan
ba 9 one who makes alcoholic drinks, nan
nan, think of a tavern
thanks Dee
yw
want a cocktail nan?
Not sure if Chinese has punctuation.
hi ruru
hi jilli
Love your flowers, flosey.

Or I could just email the link to a few of you.
Yeah. Maybe I'll do that.

Huh. Handsome... ME? :P

I think "dorky" would apply more... but thanks. lol
wow Neil, he is GOOD
yay, just monkeyed the ni7
Yes flosey. :) And I'm naturally talentless.
new chemistry term for me granny have never seen that before
The singing gene missed me... by miles. lol
I know handsome when I see it -- so there!
I would not say that Neil, your talents are along different lines
Well thanks, flosey. But reading labels isn't or wasn't among them either. lol
dee, it's amazing what one can remember sometimes....it's over 40 years since i did chemistry.
I've gotten a LOT better at that though!
yes.. like Ipod repairs for example
wow
Haha, ruru!
:D
You just won't let that one go, will you?
thank goodness we all have different gifts and talents
no.. it is a great image
Oh wonderful. Great knowing you're picturing us like that, ru. :P

good morning
hey ruby
hello rose, how are you feeling besides relieved? and the knee?
it is chilly these mornings and causes many aches and pains, the biggest pain being my husband!
bunt
bunted
bund
whoops, so sorry, need more coffee
ruby, the knee, well i'm experimenting with pain-killers during this down-time. ( ibuprofen DOES not help)
for my perpetually sore back, I take 150 mgs of ketoprophene + 2 aceti etc with codeine in the AM with breakfast and it keeps the (sometimes) crippling pain from taking hold
good morning my babble friends;)
{{crossy}}
((ruby))
banted
oops
hey crossy! and how is mrs crossy?
I already put 3 in, but Rose, very kindly, didn't chide me.....
howdy granny, the mrs is fine and sends her best
I'll fix you a coffee in the PB
Hey crossy and ruby.
Still here Rose?
lol, ruby...and why would i? s'kay, crossy, no such word

acid reflux is killin me
Just haven't gone there yet.
next door's dogs woke me at 3.28 am - grrrr
Going after this mug of tea I'm drinking.
woof
i still try to eat and drink like i am 30..i must learn to rebehave
i never managed to do thta crossy LOL
behave I mean
more like yap yap yap Ruby
Haha crossy... "rebehave"? To behave again?
half, nbt and nbs. Now I can get dressed! See you later
bye ruby
maybe some peaty single malt (ob**) would help you sleepless folks
Oh I won't need anything. I was just up late... I'll be asleep pretty soon after my head hits the pillow.
wish I was a whisky drinker, might get the clue LOL
i live near the base of blue mtn here on georgian bay,and some idiot put a bunch of houses tween me and the hill..somewhere in those 20 houses is a small breed yappy dog and they seem to lock it outdside on the lead starting at 6 am or so and in the morning, when the air is still and the water is calm, that dogs non-stop yapping echos off the hill and reverberates all through town.i swear that dog can wake up 10,000 people all at once
I think I might have to find iot and have a chat to the owner...
that is incredibly inconsiderate
it just echos,and echos...
maybe bring a dog toy with you
to soften the chide
you'd have thought a closer neighbour might have had a word..
Chat? I'd be putting some fear into them.
you would think so glant
Yeah. You'd really think someone would've registered a complaint with city hall, wouldn't you?
Or whoever you complain to about that there?
it is quite amazing actually, never heard sound bounce quite like it..bet the thing is a teacup poodle or some such beastie
in the UK, we would ask the local environmental health department to visit and discuss noise nuisance
or the dog warden
Or a Chihuahua.
Would be a yorshire terrier here...
i swear if the hill were larger,it would cause avalanches
Could be here too. They're popular.
they are very popular here glant
just found a 9:))
re 9/78
there's a ba9 but I can;t find it
glant, ba9, someone who serves alcoholic drinks
ty granny
np's crossy
ty granny - a word i've heard of but hich isnlt used this side of the atlantic
barkeep? innkeeper? brewmiester? lol
maid, man or steward
or landlord or landlady if also the owner of the premises
here a steward is a fellow working on a passanger ship
that is also the case here
there is also room for merriment when using the term barsteward, particularly if said staff is ignoring you and serving others before you
Or an airplane, crossy.
language nuances are such fun:) we ran into faux pas when mu brother went over to the U.K for my mums funeral seems in that particular locale, long pants are trousers, pants=shorts and short-underwear,so when he said one day that it was so warm out that he was going to go lay out on the back lawn in his shorts,he raised a few eyebrows
:-) - shorts are short trousers here
but pants are underwear
I'm off. Take care everyone. Rose... check email again? ;)
seems they were underwear there..was quite funny
tc neil
night Neil
brought me back what must arguably be the most expensive tin of english toffee on the plant lol
planet
why so expensive?
the dollar/pound exchange was very bad then 3.50 for a pound so this small tin was worth 17 dollars by the time it got to me
ouch
hope it tasted good
was very tasty, but my true love is that scottish toffee, the kind that comes with its own little toffee hammer
my dad used to love that - it came in a metal tray
tis the good stuff
i try to avoid toffee these days, it pulls the fillings out of teeth a little too easily LOL
supposed to suck on it,not chew it! :)
my mrs loves the sponge toffee, now that stuff will rip those fillings out
hi everyone
can't eat toffee and not chew LOL - sponge toffee? never heard of that
Hi Andree
it is whipped with air and looks a lot like the natural sea sponges you use to scrub your back with in the tub
we have what we call cinder toffee her which looks a little like that
same texture anyways
talking of sweets how yum is almond roca
has a slightly burned taste
what is almond roca?
i was going to ask the same
is not babble wonderous? always something to discover:))
re**** unto caeser that which is caeser,s
hard to describe, its caramel you can crunch, comes in a very distinctive pink tin
is that re6/24 or re6/33?
we definitely don;t have almond roca here (or any other kind of roca)
dear
6/21
oops
missed that one, thinking...
not getting it crossy
just got the re9 though
glant,re ( tear ) **, um, i don't know
rip or water falling form eye?
ok got first 4 letters now
rentau
rentua
oops

oh i already had that one LOL
well, think ill try for a bit more sleep,tc all poink
it's the other re6/21 i'm looking for!
nos da crossy - sleep tight
okay, himelf is a tad cross

ta & a hot cross ***
Hello Norma and all
Thanks lynxxx great clue ;)
Hello Lynxxx sorry was making a coffee lol
what a good idea - maybe then these U's will make themselves obvious to me. BBL
bye for now : ))
any clue for the re9 please
When it bounces back ... pluralize it
one who hooks up too soon
thanks
As always, Kenyans, fleet of foot, will be zipping down Belmont Blvd just a couple of blocks from chez moi . . . eventually followed by the pounding of 30,000 pairs of OTHER feet! :-)
50 bands and 450 cheerleaders along the route! LOL
(Music City Marathon today)
wow, just putting "un" in front of EVERYTHING! LOL
*hello hello hello . . . hollow echo here in chog*
hello une! I want to go to that marathon! I love parades and marching bands
hey, ruby! :-)
it's really fun -- folks come in from all over the world . . . some of the "theme costumes" are hilarious
no marching bands here - the closest they come is the tiny old soldiers' band on 112 Nov at the cemetery
every year a group of ladies from Texas come dressed as the "Dolly Partons" LOL
lol
not marching bands . . . bands located all along the route to entertain runners and spectators
when I was a teacher, there was a Southern gal who looked and dressed like that ON PURPOSE!
not surprised! LOL
she used to look at me and say "I can't un***stand what anybody could see in you"
Une, was it you who gave the link for the heron's nest at Cornell?
hello molly
Hi Ruby
good morning all
Morning Teach
morning teach (actually afternoon)
yes, molly -- and two babies have hatched in the last 24 hours!!
"our" heron is back, bolder than ever. Stands in the garden looking at me and leaves the fish cowering in the mud at the bottom
great pic of the heron "family": http://www.flickr.com/photos/79326571@ N03/6973894772/in/photostream/
husband wants to shoot him but I think he's gorgeous
yikes, ruby LOL
what kind of herons are at Cornell?
ooohh, herons are sooo beautiful
(not husband, heron)
great blue herons
magnifique!
thousands around the world have been watching the live feed of building the nest, laying 5 eggs, etc.
there's a running chat . . . people went CRAZY when the first baby hatched out!
that's like in NY where there are hawks nesting on 5th Ave and nex to Washington Square. They have live feeds there, too
coined a new term for the bit of shell still on baby #1's head: shellmet :-)
Is the running chat in the marathon?
my sister sends me all the clippings
BR LOL!!!
hahah, BR
oh, Ruby, the hawks nesting in NY are fascinating!! I've seen pix, videos, and documentaries
<-- loves birds
me too!
it is great fun learning the European ones after keeping a (modest) life list in the US
similar, but different
I just noticed, I'm a phantom today (and feel like one)
good to see ruby and BR and Molly -- must go get ready to transport Sparrow (in icon pic) and Bunny to Kentucky -- byeee! *poof*
is unbed when you wake somebody up?
unsleep
woof, une
be well
Une, thank you so much for hooking me up to that heron's nest site. I have had so much fun watching as the babies were tended to, then hatched.
Here is a close up of the babies... http://tinyurl.com/6t9ks46
Oops, missed Une. I'll catch her next time.
came back for a sec while gulping yogurt -- wonderful pic, molly!!!!
just went outside for a minute and it's hot and windy and the mockcherry is shedding flowers; it looks like pink snow!
ooohhh, pretty . . .
Rufie is fascinated
aaawww, sweet boy :-)
it is warmer outside than in the house
when he drinks from the pond (aaarghhh), he looks like a midget in a beige fur coat
we're due for 80s for the next few days . . .
LOL :-)
it is strange out, hottest day so far, but feels temporary
better than the almost 2 wks of rain we just had
ok, really poofing now -- a plus tard, ruby! *poof*
he's a wonderful boy 99% of the time and then he bites!
a bientot, une
I'm trying everybody's suggestions -- loud "no", can of nails, squeezing his muzzle
hopefully, he'll grow out of it
gm
hi kje
hi all
This is interesting reading Ruby - most other articles are suggesting the 'ouch - then ignore' for chow puppies...http://www.chowwelfare.com/c ciw/pupbites.htm
Hello again
gm xxx
hi Peri & kje
when he goes from cuddling to biting, I say NO Bite loudly and then walk away
I'll read the article and see if it helps
he is really a great dog, otherwise
and yesterday, did his first "watchdog" performance when the handyman came. It was impressive for such a young dog
fireworks for the first time in months
hi KJE
yay girl!
yay for girlie
Congrats Girlie !
congrats girlie
Thanks. Either I am getting less patient or stupider :)
They have been tough of late
this is a sweet grid, 145 words so far and not hard ones

nice compound words

hi Espritd, nice to see you. Life treating you a bit better of late?
hi esprit
hi esprit
I can't believe I actually fell asleep. I am sorry. I need to get more coffee now. We were up very late last night.
gm ladies
no crises lately. Currently trying to get a visa for my Chinese DIL to come visit with my son in the summer
damn embassy denied her application
np, gail
Name that Proper Noun (for the cognoscenti) one of the most influential tenor sax players of all time!
Summer - so only have a couple of months to reapply?
have gotten my congressman's office involved, so hopefully they will just reverse their first unfounded decision Lyn
give up Godthaab
Trane - nick name of John Coltrane (only the cognoscenti would know him as Trane
recognise Coltrane of course
<---Was desperately looking for "col"
Yea, only some people know him as Trane
<---Apparently, not "some people" : O
I always say Babble is an educational experience....
You can drop that tidbit into a conversation today....
Jean, good luck with the visa. It was a loooong, expensive process getting my husband a green card.
nbt, need an 8 for nbs :\ but must be off for a while. poof
later lbd
Not even trying to get a green card, just a visitor visa!
Yes, but I know how complicated and frustrating the process can be.
EJ, is it the US or China who is holding it up
Gotta get to bed - night everyone. Hope it works out OK Espritd - and soon!
it's the US embassy in Shanghai
sleep well, xxx
Do they give a reason or is it just arbitrary
the reason was "did not show ties to China" but my son said it was a very half-assed interview and they didn't even really look at all her documentation
because of volume, sometimes the just go on "gut". Stupid
sounds screwy
last un6?
un6/24 - false information
afternoon all
hi Glant
ah, a fish - ty!
Hi Biochon
sorry, can't spell today LOL - Bichon
Have I become a scientist Glant? <gg>
possibly, or a hazard of some kinsd ;-)
Everyone please report to your decontamination stations. We have a biochon in the grid!
struggling with Uns
Hi Molly
struggling with my vowels
Hi Glan. 21 U words made me bug-eyed.
there are 5, bichon: a, e, i, o, u
and then a sometimes vowel also: y
I still have 10 UNs to go...:-(
am missing an e, u and an o
or in Welsh there are 7 aeiouwy
lol glant - that w!
pronounced oo
so you never see a welsh word with oo in it
I need to visit wales
come and stay :-)
So, do Welsh ghosts say bw!!!!!
definitely Molly
Tw cwl
ROFL
I'd love to visit Wales. If I only had one place to visit, what would it be Glant
we often write English words with welsh phonetic spelling which is quite amusing - ambiwlans
do you like mountains and wild country, or cities Bichon?
not cities, but everything else
well, I suppose if you could only go to one place, it would either have to be a castle - we have 641 to choose form - or to the National Museum of Welsh Life - an outdoor musseum where buildings have been relocated from all over the country and rebuolt there to preserve our heritage
every castle is different but Caernarfon is pretty impressive, Castell Coch is a Victorian fantasy medieval reconstruction, Caerphilly is the largest, and Cheptow is the oldest
castles sound intriguing.
I agree, I think it would be fascinating to visit a castle.
this website has all the major ones on it: http://www.castlewales.com/ so you can make a virtual visit

Had a great time! The bride said I looked amazing!!!! LOL! I felt really beautiful!
I'm sure you did look amazing. That dress is stunning and I'm sure you were stunning in it. Glad you felt beautiful. How nice.
beautiful venue, great food, catching up with old friends. It was a good night!
And did you get out on the dance floor and show them how it's done?
I had my hair straight, which is very unusual for me! People were shocked!
Only once or twice....I did dance with my DH though!!!!!!
Ha! Reminds me of that scene where Skeeter's mother says "You're five inches shorter, you can wear heels tonight!" after they straightened her hair.
:)
(scene in "The Help")
I should have worn shorter heels...ouch.
I have come to this conclusion. The better your feet and legs look in heels, the worse your feet hurt the next day.
I got an email this morning reminding me of Dylan's cub scout activity this afternoon. It is next to a pub...I think I may need a hangover cheeseburger!
AMEN! Trif's secundo took a pic. When I get it from her, I will post it.
And I better go get ready for it! I wish you all a great day! {{hugs}}
<--Admires the well thought out planning of a cub scout meeting next to a pub

what's the crap?
we don't have enough space here in the chog. let's go for the abbreviated version -- he is a 6'3" child. ultimate peter pan
which makes for lots of fun, but lots of exasperation, too
I don't see you playing julie andrews
no, i'm not really good at playing anything other than doren - which means half the time laughing and enjoying and then half the time feeling like a mommy
well, dorens...let's just say when I got through the S's, I still had like 60 words left. On U now and I still have 22 to go.
too old to be a mommy
oh boy
i'm down to 97 and need to go out and run the errands while i still feel like it. something about saturday morning vs saturday afternoon. see you later
adios
bye doren
"I really do love him despite all the crap, but I just can't put up with the crap"...THAT is very profound
time to run away now
i get it - like hollywood waltz, 'love her in spite of all of her faults' - but there may be just too many of them, or some are just too large to overcome

LBD, it's not raining today (so far)... but the last couple days were pretty soggy.
brandyjack......... you resemble a lot of my relatives.... you look like you could be passamaquoddy
now that's a name I hadn't heard in a while... passamaquoddy
are you familiar with us stid?
I grew up on the East Coast, so it's a familiar tribal name -- but I was in Virginia. I regret not knowing more specific details.
we used to vacation sometimes in Maine
i am from maine- grandfather was full pass
That is a wonderful heritage to have, sammysmom!
where in maine?
rained yesterday, so far it's nice outside...a bit breezy and cooler temps compared to last week in the 80's.
I was pretty young, there are some mountain lakes we used to take our canoe and go camp along the shore and then portage between the lakes. I HATED the leeches...
I'll see if I can find it on a map
I think it was near Millinocket -- I know it was fairly close to the coast. But I will have to ask Mother. On one of our trips there was a HUGE and ancient moose who stood across the road and wouldn't move for over an hour.
have relatives in or near millinocket..... actually have relatives all over the state from kennebeck to caribou-lol
must be nice to be "from" somewhere!
any clue for the ni7 ?
have lived in ohio for 55 years, but i still get homesick when i smell pine

Haven't ever seen it, so looking forward to it. And first time as a paid stage manager, Lilliann -- he has been acting for a long time but taking some time out from that this year.

a little to far to go for a pot luck sue :(
Duh, pardon for not scrolling down far enough
no worries :)
I will be traveling at some point, though, peri - to Massachusetts at the end of next month although I probably won't have much time for visiting then
but maybe more widely later in the year
It's a good night for a bonfire here, cloudy and cool.
i have to find my hoodie
en6/21, please?
en + what a man calls his wife
Wow Sue, retiring and traveling. Sounds like fun.
Fun is my plan :=)
Thanks got it
suze, you must come up here when you retire.will make you a crossy style brunch
take you on a turn of the century steam ship and cruise the 30,000 islands
I have the word, but I'm thinking of all kinds of "what a man calls his wife" that are not in the grid : D
I am planning on it, crossy!!
here it is suze, check this tour boat out.... http://segwun.com/

howdy kaplan
That's the oppositte of yo.
yeah, isn't that just how it works??? I did a lot of things when Frank moved out here because I wanted to show him what there was to do - had lived here 20 years and not done much of it myself

Oy. Yo.
Dei-oh, me say dei-ay-ay-oh
good eve Babble friends :)
help with the last two sp6? and hello sprite and kap
hi cos :)
I have to relearn how to ride a bike. Apparently I have been in the habit of dismounting and mounting the hard way- but it didn't used to bother me
Can you teach an old broad new tricks?
it is effective, Kaplan. But the older we get, the less we bounce back from the concrete.
sure... on an old bike :D
One ends like Spanish Mr Cos
I didn't ride all last summer because I felt unsteady.
Apparently you're supposed to push off from the pedal and not just hoist yourself onto the seat.
thanks molly
can't you have one with side wheels, Kaplan? Or a tricycle for grownups?
found the other one
Then I won't clue it : P
lol thats ok :)
I can ride Ok- it's the stopping and getting off that I no longer find easy.
then you ne4 a bike with a low instep, Kaplan. Then you can hoist yourself on and off without a problem.
Kaplan: http://www.hozee2wielers.nl/a ssets/images/aldo%20lage%20instap.jpg
I found one, but I have to relearn how to get on and off, even with the girl's bike model.
nice bike, but the problem I'm having is getting onto the seat and pushing off
yeah that is why the low instep is helpful. You can even rest your feet on the ground and push off.
There is something in that process that I am not doing right, after my feet are on the ground. I am supposed to put a foot on the pedal, push off and THEN get on the seat. I have been getting on the seat first.
I was just at the bike store and the guy was trying to get me to do it right.
I understood that was what you did. That is what is possible with bikes like this one. I hope you will find a way, bikes are great transportation.
I used to be Miss Bike everywhere. My husband bikes all the time in all weather and doesn't understand why I have become so resistant.
Aside from not wanting mud on my clothes, my balance is not so great.
I can understand that you have. It takes confidence to ride bike. Once you lost that, through not riding for a while or because you are afraid to fall, it isn't that easy anymore
yeah.
howdy sprite was dancing through multiple google browser tabs and did not see you come in;))
hi crossy :) *hug*
yo and oy to you.
the last ab5 please
did you already google the word 'askew'?
this grid ab****s with babblets
askew is crokked or off centre
crooked
just google it.
lol! love it
me too :D
ha ha- I googled it! cute.
cool, isn't it :)
did you ever do mapquest requesting the route from one continent to another
no, never.
Like from Boston to Paris- it would tell you where to jump into the harbor and swim
oh LOL
let me try
awwww :( "We can't find a route from Paris, ÃŽle-De-France to Boston, MA. Please try modifying the start or end point and try again."
it doesn't seem to work anymore. darn
guess they changed it. Childish :(
from california to china they tell you to canoe!
a mapquest programmer with a sense of humor must have got fired
yeah?
but its usually on google maps. not mapquest.
I love hidden humor like that. It can make my day.
Oh, lemme try google.
:)
an6 please?
an + did a golf thing
or latin before + the famous horse Mr **
for those playing with google map i have 2 interesting co-ords...
32.169107°, -110.855793° airplane graveyard in arizona
0.2 mi 29. Turn right onto Punahou St 0.1 mi 30. Turn right onto S Beretania St 0.1 mi 31. Take the 1st left onto Kalakaua Ave 1.9 mi 32. Kayak across the Pacific Ocean 3,879 mi 33. Turn left toward 県é“275å·ç·š 0.4 mi 34. Turn left toward 県é“275å·ç·š
sunken ship pearl harbor
21.365822°, -157.950284°
is that funny, crossy, or just a nice place to visit?
Kaplan, LOL!
which places did you enter, Kap?
here is the pyramid in Giza...
29.976685°, 31.134189°
I started at Sacramento, and here I am in 県é“275å·ç·š, with my trusty kayak.
I love it
Nowhere to park it, though
ah well, just keep the kayak roped.
must let my husband do the kayak search. He will laugh his ass off
It gave me directions from Boston- it's easy if I drive to Honolulu.
Pick any prefecture in Japan and it will work.
and he might complain with google maps that they totally discount the fact that canoes are better
boy that sp5/12 and 7/36 are strange ones
I have seen them before in grids. Or I wouldn't have found them.
"i have not and just monkied them
I had to ask a2z for the ni7/36. Never seen that one before.
I think it does the kayak route because it is a short distancce from Honolulu, but it was really funny when it would tell you to jump in the East River and swim the Le Havre
My life is so full of fun.
lol yes
ill take a clue for that one please sprite
hey don't knock it... a sense of humour is a gift for life
hm yeah sure... lemme think...
i won my beloveds heart with laughter at the right time:))
first 3: mixed up charged partical. next 3: flying animal with supersonic hearing last one is a vowel.

I don't pop my cork for every guy I see....
ok for the gin version you will need olives for the vodka version, pearl onions..take a chilled jumbo martini glass and add 3 ounces of gin/vodka, take a sterling silver cocktail sword and impale 3 olives or onions and gently float this in the glass so as to not bruise the alcohol, now lean over the glass and whisper the name Antonio Benedetto Carpano and serve
Shirley Bassey or Edie Adams?
lolllll crossy you rock
Pearl Bailey pretty good too.
ooh crossy...nice
We are all getting a little tipsy.

crossy likes the song "one bourbon, one scotch, one beer"
there's a word/s that the gentlemen here won't fancy - re6.24 & 7.40
crossy could be a great ba9
though,do the beer second and chase it with the scotch:)
lol

thanks sprite got it
I like Manhattans
nice classic drink
whiskey vermouth bitter and cherry garnish
extra cherry please
but of course m,lady
: )
we have a local distillery here so it was canadian mist for the whiskey
very nice
when you can walk right to the back of the distillery and see the casks being broached, then you know you are getting good ingredients
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_ Mist
manhattans tonight!
when i was a younger fella,we used to buy wet barrels off of them and make "swish" or barrel wash
we're going booze shopping..think I'll pick up a bottle
when i lived in the states, i'd make manhattans with seagrams 7 - can't find it up here
now that I am older alcohol does not affect (is this the correct word?) me like it once did. just makesme tired
7 star is gone i think
my ex (at one of the kids' weddings, turned me on to manhattans made with maker's mark bourbon - ohh lala!)
7 & 7 was my very first drink at high school graduation party
in the states, it's like 25 for a bottle - up here, about 42!
try the maker's mark, west - you won't regret it (and you know what else i tried? instead of traditional angostura bitters, i tried their orange flavored bitters - very nice)
crossy - swish - you'd wash out the casks with what?
makers mark is high end stuff, not standadr bar fare
water welki,distilled water
ah - so the whiskey would leach into the water?
yes, orange bitters are very nice as well
yes indeed, rotate the cask 1/4 turn every 2 weeks
and peychaux bitters from louisiana - justin wilson, the cook, taught me about them on his old tv show
welki that sounds perfect
*High fives Welkie* Makers is awesome bourbon
the orange makes it very fresh tasting
BBL
and so healthy too !
yes, makes it into a healthy tonic - will cure whatever ails you :)
^5 molly :)
the orange bitters top scurvy when your on a 2 month bender:))
stop
off to Yankee Spirits for beer, wine and a Manhattan making kit..you're all invited
other half is making buffalo wings tonight for supper - strawberry shortcake for dessert (hello, diabetes - i am not paying attention to you tonight) - and a manhattan to start :)
<---Misses Justin Wilson
don't forget the sweet vermouth, west
just the vermouth in the manhattan will mess up your numbers welki
euuuuuuuu -eeeeeee!
I miss him too, Molls
molly! have you been watching the two hatchlings sqawking and eating and bouncing around? :-)
i remember justin wilson going on about drinking the 'right' kind of wine with the 'right' foods - he didn't believe in it. he said, 'if i likes it, i drinks it.' (cover your eyes, ru - if you're here)
Yes Une, it's adorable.
and crossy - everything will affect my numbers, nature of the beast. it's all about balance
last week we had a few people over and decided to make a nice hard punch.have not done that in forever 5 cans of quality frozen fruit punch concentrate,15 containers of water, one 26 ounce bottle of appleton estates dark spiced rum then add ice and float slices of orange and lemon on top of the punch bowl
that said, i am unbalanced ;-D
it's funny to me that the dad just abruptly just sits down on the eggs, babies, and fish! LOL
sounds delicious, crossy - sounds like a party!
was perfect, buffet style dinner and serve yer own drinks
(found seagrams 7 online - probably not available here, but a road trip to england will get us a bottle or two :)
Une, Mom is definitely the more gentle of the two
i put the food out 30 min before the punch bowl, that way you do not end up with staggering drunks
<---Wonders about a road trip from Canada to England
and do you know how HARD it is to get a large party style punch bowl?? mien gott!
you could have mine - i don't use it
it's a different sort of road, molly
Ah, gotcha Welki. I haven't been at a party where there was a punch bowl in years.
lol welki,if i am already in the u,k i would rather slip over into scotland and find one of those lovely micro breweries who do single malts
not a bad idea for the summer - punch revival!
anyway, off to make a salad and read a little before supper - have a nice evening, good people
i also did the punch bowl because it has been ages since i have done one and it is so easy .much better than being chained to your bar all night long
hello everyone :)
u
well, hello there!
howdy cybernan

Sounds like a good plan Red
thanks for that Une!
I spent the afternoon learning how to make pie charts in excell which thankfully is very simple.
wish it had been real pie.
Hmm, real pie vs. pie charts. No contest.
pie charts are nothing but a graphic way of showing what is already known to the ceo who does not care who is on the cusp of a golden pension plan and stock options before the shit truly hits the fan ..sorry disillusioned here
THis is not for the CEO, its for the nurses who need to know that *I* know that they are putting a ton of ecoli into patients bladders.
I dont do pie for the CEO, heck I am not really sure who our CEO is.
i am sorry red, forgot you were in nursing..you are the unsung heros
not those ones with ecoli on thier hands...they are going to soon feel wrath...
i stand up and applaud all murses and nurse/practitioners
*Feels queasy about e coli in patient bladders*
ty 7, please? -- no wonder I wasn't finding the 7's before listing!
ty7...what you do on a keyboard + where you go to get a drink
my wine cellar?
I dont applaud those who give thier patients ecoli. they need to wash their hands at the right times. Oh I have been working on data al day...
ty molly
Hi Dorens!!!!! How are you?
Or as someone said this morning "I'll take a sans serif on the rocks please"
i am alive... and you?
I am also alive, though a bit warm....
c'mon up here.. in the 30's this morning
<--Pities the neglectful nurses who are about to feel The Wrath Of Red
ty again Molly!
well, they will all feel it, just as soon as I get my pie charts up and running....
hi all.
hey, if they don't wash properly, i have no pity.
and now that I am half way, book and bed!!!

I should add that I did not take her advice....
And that was a smart thing Trif. You just end up carrying the baggage from one relationship into the next one.
that, and my total lack of appeal....lol
i am finished. and can't be** any thought of baggage and relationships right now. good night everyone and good luck
Ahem, negative self talk is not encouraged here. : )
Night Dorens, sorry to hit on a sore subject.

g'nite, Dorens
Yay Dorens! and niters ..
hello torgone!
I too will brook no talk of your being unappealing, Trifs ..
thanks, dear.
Trif you can trot right on off to the PB now. There is cheesecake in there.
You're welcome .. ♥
I am defying your request, citing a special dispensation I claim whenever torgone is here....
so there
So hard to keep track of all the "specials" here.
tor is VERY special, molly, especially to me. :)
*Makes notes about Trif and Tor*
*blush* Gawrsh ..
molly, what does your icon mean? if that is not prying....I am intrigued!
Last Saturday there were 744 words in the grid.
oh yes, of course!
Especially Special Tor. You rate dude.
I only got about 2/3 of that one ..
I can't remember how I did - at least halfway, anyway....
I was amazed at how many people finished.
me too, molly. my pastor was one who finished, and I was so impressed!
I kept hearing the "Chariots Of Fire" music as I imagined people sitting down and strapping in for that big of a grid.
ha!
the u in this grid is killing me
me too, Trif
21 u
21 u's is about 19 too many
umen!
lol, Trif
People need to STOP posting video of them, their kids, their drunken prisoners, and anyone else singing Bohemian Rhapsody on the internet. Enough is enough.
I could not agree more, molly!
Gotta restart the server. Be back online in a couple minutes...
Back now?
Evidently ..

Dr. God had to tweak some things under the hood.
who is a jerk, tor?
Nobody is a jerk. I was just kidding ..
oh duh.....sorry. I am slow tonight
Every time I watch "Bones" and Angela's Dad is on, I think of Dr. God. I wonder why?
secondo is making cupcakes and they smell SO GOOD
Evening all. May I please have a clue for bo5-18 the 2nd? Thanks
Peach, if someone kidnaps you and restrains you, they might have you bo5 and gagged.
molly, you are so good at cluing!
Thanks much, Molly.
Only occasionally. And girl children who make cupcakes are A-Okay.
you really are! And I am TRYING to be on a diet, and the amazing aroma is not helping
and mind you - tertiare is not home -- on a sleep over, and I am not sure secondo has noticed yet....ha!
hi all
de5-16 please....thanks
So it's just you and her, and you (of course) are going to steadfastly stick to your diet, so all the cupcakes are for her.

interesting watermelons, ruru
No rest for the dedicated, Jes.
Heya via ..
Hi Via
did I miss any excitement?
Did Molly throw any wild parties in the PB?
Alas Via, no excitement today. This place has gotten rather stale lately.
Sigh. I think I've only finished one grid since The Monster
I've been demoralized :P
I thought you were resting on your laurels.
I don't have any laurels
Your trapeze then.
no laurel-resting for the wicked
I love resting on the trapeze! You get into a comfy pose and people who don't know any better think you're doing something hard.
ro6-27 please...thanks
ro + the group that plays live music
Once again, thanks to dear Molly.
<---Does not have the heart to send someone as nice as Peach to the PB
Thanks.....
ty7 please?
Besides, I tried to send Trif to the PB for the same word and she got all uppity on me. : P
never mind! found it. Duh.
viajes, I sure can use that ty7 p0lease....thanks
ty4 + place where you drink
Oh, wow! Thanks so much, viajes.
yw!
how about ni7?
ni + vowel + Norman ****s from Psycho
thank you Molly
Hmm. It is apparently a salt in ni**ic acid. No wonder I didn't know it.
Ds down...
Go, go, viajes!!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
Hey there, Min.
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Oh come on Via. That isn't a word in your every day vocabulary? Surely it is. (Dripping with sarcasm)
Hi Min
Hi Min!
I think we are pretty well.....hope you are as well.
Molly, I usually buy my acids pre-made, so I don't know the names of the individual salts...
Interesting icon Min.
You heard it here first everyone. Via buys acid!
Need food....brb
I have never heard of an addressograph until today.
I hadn't either Min, and I found it interesting to learn about something like that from the past.
Yes, Molly, I buy this ni+ acid so I can make optical glass.
(delayed response due to wikipedia research so I could find out what it's actually used for)
half way
in7 clue?
yay Jes!
Good that you posted that Via. Now you will not become Babble gossip fodder for being a drug dealer. : P
Yup. No homemade acid. Strictly cocaine.
Thank God we cleared that up.
Well, I wouldn't want to hurt my Babble reputation. I have standards, after all.
So... in7 clue?
are there drugs in the PB?
an airplane is in7 if landing
as long as you avoid the cocaine with levamisole in, via
in7...a train that is not going out of the station
thankee, ruru; got 2 words there :)
that is a good word! I should have found it.
It's real and everything!
<---avoids cocaine period
*Imagines all the emails that will be flying about this conversation*
oh-oh. What kinds of emails?
FBI? Will they shut us down because of my optical glass non-making?
yes, you should be licensed for that, via :D
fw!
yay via!
107 left here...
Congratulations viajes on your fireworks! Good for U!
thanks everyone
anyone need any clues? I can tell you that ni7 is a salt that goes in an acid that you can use to make optical glass
Now that you've won the internets, what will you do?
Congrats, viajes!!!!!!
oh you know, retire somewhere in the Bahamas. Learn to play Bridge.
Good save Via, Big Brother might just buy that.
Yay via!
*Add "pet dogs and be kind to old ladies" *
Big Brother and I are tight. It's cool.
I also recommend that everyone read the Russian novel "We," which apparently inspired both Brave New World and 1984. It got past the censors through extreme use of ellipses, as it is hard to censor what is implied rather than said...
Anyway, I am supposed to go see a show and then drink heavily. *sighs wearily*
what show?
Have a great time, viajes.
Tough duty but someone has to do it ..
also, in the same line of books, you may want to pick up Cory Doctrow's Little Brother.
*Makes note to start discussing knitting doilies and making tea with Via*
good read, and all doctrow's books are available for free download from his site (craphound.com)
I am at a storytelling conference. I just ditched a panel, but now I must go to a show and then a party.
I will look it up Jes -- ty!
I do like tea, Molly. Doilees, not so much. (Though I buy my tea pre-made; I don't buy the individual salts.)
Welcome. I read it while traveling... kind of ironic to be hauling it through security given the subject matter :)
I second the Doctorow recommendation - He's very good ..
have fun all *poof*
You are redeemed Via. Go enjoy the rest of your conference and rest assured that I will remain the black sheep of Babble.
bye, via

That'll be great!
what color does he want? I'm finding out colors in bathrooms can be 'varied'?
well, options so far appear to be black, grey, or white, or various shades of not-quite right
sorry, not-quite white
this is for the john or the walls?
for toilet, tub, and sink.
I find not quite white looks dirty all the time
I vote for gray. I think the black will be like the kitchen stuff. Fingerprints & stuff
Has to be the right gray too. This is the stuff that will never change
A soft gray thou
