I'm distracted by Animal Planet. Nothing else on TV I wanted to watch and it's my fall-back channel. Nearly always fascinating. Right now it's about cats, big and small.
Besides, I'm tired -- Happy Hour(s) was at my place.
So I'm getting nowhere here!

The Chinese used black pepper to cure cholera, Europeans used it as currency, and Attila the Hun demanded 3,000 pounds of the stuff in exchange for discontinuing his sacking of Rome.
*Puts on big floppy hat with roses on it and passes mint juleps around*
watching a good documentary as I babble... always multitasking
interesting, cross - I knew salt was used as money, didn't know pepper was
Torn between the mint juleps and the margaritas today, will have to choose one or the other.
wow, crossy, I didn't know any of that, interesting...
I am a fan of tequila
(please, no pepper in my mint julep, lol!)
the fabled tidbit of the day is interesting and enlightening as always rbud:)
does tequila feel the same about you kje?
we won't hide your spectacles so you can't see, put toads in your bed, or pepper in your tea...

Hurshy, I actually got the eye stuff this morning! My career is finally paying off! The AF 8 is a term used in almost every report I type!
Hi Sprite21
That should just be Sprite!

hi Sprite
No Relative AF8 Pupillary Defect noted.
hey car.ee :)

Yes rbud!

oooh, good clue, lynxxx! :D
Oh much better than my long one! Well done Lynxxx!
OK, I really have to scoot. I have to take Mom for some blood work this morning and a 24-hour BP monitor.

lol rbud
fun gr4 today
yeah so far it is fun
yay, found gr 8/55, to do with an incline
am going to look up fu4.11 - funny word
or the degree of an incline
LOL... it was a fish! A toxin-containing fish to be exact
ty aloy
yuck! but thanks! (had the fu4/10, which was kinda funny, too)
I agree, rbud.. that one means "to make stuffy and odorous".. hah.. thinking of a sentence
ty rbud
The dirty sock fu4.10 up the laundry room if it sits there too long?
and back again... what's with all those people who need me as soon as I sit down to babble??
have always wondered how the gr4 avoids the offensive fu** word, very polite, lol - maybe by never allowing it?
Good morning all
good use of fu4, Aloy, lol!
fu4/10 is a short form of fu3ly : )
could very well be. Although cu** is allowed, which is very rude as well.
hi Mr Bob
hi Mr Bob
gruff
28 points for that, Mr. Bob : )
oh oh
yeah... very gr5.
Sorry
yes, and somehow I didn't have it yet, ty! :)

I have re7/52
Good day to all.
hi Scrabs *hugs* How are you doing?
Hi Scrabs, rbud, sprite, aloy, tc
earlier hursh clue: "starts like safe place ends with two vowels"
hi bichon!
Good, today. Yesterday every anxious and sad. Yesterday was one month since my Dad died AND his 81st birthday.
aw, (((Scrabs)))
ouch, that is a tough day, Scrabs. Glad today is better.
It's Conco de Mayo, big moon. Two good things
And I was at my parents' house yesterday too, after I took my mother to lunch. I did some clean-up of the garage (My father SAVED everything) and some yardwork. A sister + bro helped.
g
liberation day here.
(( )) to you, Scrabbs..
sounds like a great thing you are doing it together, Scrabs. Doing that stuff and grieving.
oh.. ty rbud.. I swear I tried that
That sounds like it helped everyone's mood Scrabs
Tough stuff to get through Scrabs. I hope you have a good circle of support.
Today I will buy an electric lawn mower for myself. I am not going to pay a kid to do it anymore. But my Dad would have helped me choose a mower.
Hi Molly
I always miss my Dad's advice
missing him in everything, right Scrabs? :(
Oh, yes. Sports, house, car....he knew everything.
if may want to consider a battery mower.
I'm sure he was proud that you became a doctor
And he fixed everything. He was a mechanical engineer.
sounds like a great guy
My Dad fixed lots of things for me
jm, my choices are with cord or cordless. Cordless mowers get charged and are more expensive.
hey jmc :)
I have a battery edger. Don't miss that cord
yes but you never mow over a cord with a cordless mower . . . but the problem is they hold about an hour's worth of charge so it depends on the size of your yoard
hi all
i have a cordless/battery mower
Mine recharges pretty fast. So I just take a break in the middle while it's recharging
Do you have to buy a new battery in the future?
Bich has the right idea. Perfect excuse to sit down and have a cool drink.
morning, folks
can I please have another clue for the re7/52? I found one word that fits the clue but that is only 40 points.
hi welki :)
most people just dump the mower but i usually buy a new battery
Hey Welki
hi jmc.. passes bagels with chive schmear
yum ty snuffy
sprite sounds like a place you'd go to get out of a tornado
sprite, ends with two vowels
oh dear gr** is in the gr**
I guess I just don't know that word. Will google, thank you.
jm, how much is a new battery?
it ends with two vowels and starts with almost all of a safe place, sprite
And how often do you need a new battery?
Like a wildlife re***e
hmmm i guess about every 3 years or so
(if the yard is larger, might be worth it to buy an extra battery - to have one charging while you use the other)
oops, have 13 left and have to scoot.. bbl to finish - bye all!
it's like someone who is escaping from somewhere, but ends like a VW, Karmann Gh**
that would be great welki but the battery is not that removable
may your fave horse win today!
It's $50 extra for a cordless model. My home is on a 140 foot diameter circular lot. I live in a woodlands home owners' association.
stats for the lone i, pls
found it, thank you very much. I knew the safe place word, just was too stupid to remember it.
bye snuffy
*Mixes another pitcher of mint juleps*
ir6/24
nice start to the day
gas powered with an electric start? too expensive?
ty rb
*puts on tin foil derby hat*
foil hat? Aliens have landed?
I do not want to use gas at all.

*Gives Welki a rose for her foil hat*
hi dan
all!
Hi 2Bit
<-- thinks scrabbs should buy a goat
hi dan :)
can't the bunnies help, Scrabs?
hey dan - happy dad-day!
it may not be legal where she lives welki
miss2bit will be 2 on Tuesday. i am in disbelief
*Laughs thinking of illegal goats*
WOW!
i can have bees and chickens but no goats
oh wow dan! Has it been 2 years already? Amazing!
no rent-a-goat in the adirondacks? *checking out yellow pages - hey! they've been chewed up - looks like BillyGoatGr*** was here!-
See 2Bit. We weren't kidding when we said they grow up fast.
*giggle*
My bunnies stay inside--I don't want a raptor swooping down and taking a bunny for lunch.
amen, Molly
hump it didn't accept effen
*humph
can' t believe I still only have 2 U words, any hints tossed out gratefully accepted
tried that too jmc
hump *lol*
*Pours 2Bit a stiff drink, in anticipation of the terrible twos*
i don't have any u words
hump it---haha--new term for annoyance
I would like to share that the sirens is going off. Now-feed me.
I understand. Ok, no bunnies and no goat. I get the need for a mower. Any 2nd-hand options?
could be interesting - 'hump you!' ' no, hump YOU'
I could search for one, sprite, but a new one is $179-200 (with a cord)
Are we past the bran muffin hour?
i used a push mower for the first 8 years depends on how large the yard is and how athletic you are
Yay Kap
Dan: don't be afraid to tell your little miss no... for the next 2 years! Anything you do now, will save you lots of nastiness when they are te4agers!
amen, sprite
i would hope so molls :p
amen sprite!
I have a ur5/14, and ur6/24, same as the ur5 with a consonant inserted

scrabbs posted a link to this book a while ago, dan - check this audio out: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch /81588689/

My 4 y.o. granddaughter has an ttitude and is sassy. What a combination

lol bichon! You must love her to bits.
all even years are a bitch until they teenagers and then all years are a bitch
ah! another ur5, a 5/12, U + not common
stats for the bottom e and , pls
Dan, just remember the immortal words of Bill Cosby. "I brought you into this world, I can take you out too." : )
and you love every minute of it with any luck at all
and same one with other vowel, rbud
That book is hilarious.
That was said long before Cosby

did i read correct back in the chog? someone is considering goats to keep the lawn down?? once we had 5 acres, thought it would be a grand idea to toss three goats back there to keep the tall grass down to a dull roar..well they ate that, theyate the flower bed, they ate the bark off the trees, they killed the trees, they ate the front lawn right down to a dust bowl, they got off the leads about 100 tiles a day(they eat rope) they perpetually have fleas, that they give to any dog you may have about every other day...
wow welki! Make sure you keep it there!
The last of my snow melted on wednesday.
Not a good experience, huh, Crossy?

Time to eat. BBS with the breakfast buffet for all.

Wow to that mileage. That's only about 1600 miles a year.
red, had an awesome goat curry in jamaica - that said, maybe the rum (or red stripe) helped

1600 miles a year?? may as well walk
I have had goat in a lot of places around the world...It doesn't do for me. Lots of folks do like it.

I am a 10,000 mile a year girl....

Wow welki, thats really neat.
Me too Red. I'm not a big fan of driving.
lol welki, probably had to drive it hard for a month just to burn the carbon build up out of that engine

So I had to enforce my first policy on a friend yesterday. I now understand why they say its lonely at the top- and I am no where near the top...
lol@ 8 mile rbud..i once was helping out a friend and babysitting his station for him for 2 months..put 300 miles a day on the car for the entire 2 months.was glad when that was done
ohhhhhh .. nah, i don't like being photographed
for the di8 that was related to one of the ur words, there is also one with another vowel as 3rd letter.
your first policy, red?
Oh Welki, everyone says that!
Red, if it involves preventing HAI then it is important
wow red. How did it go?
I got a job promotion to doing the Infection prevention at the hospital.
ohhh, work related germ prevention. i get it
policy enforcement of any kind on friends, relatives or co-workers is the pits
Nice cars Welki. I saw a '69 Malibu the other day in choice condition. Now that's a car.
The person got very irritated, but it's a policy that is mandated by OSHA. I didn't make it up...and its policy at every hospital. So it was awkward though...I felt like a bit of a hypocrite, because I have broken this policy about 95% of the time as a staff RN...
And deep down I don't think it prevents anything. But OSHA...well, I can not supercede them.
maybe you felt uncomfortable, but it's YOUR heinie in court if something goes sideways
yeah well, still it needs to be upheld. no ne4 to blame the messenger.
Scrabbs, are you serving on the infection prevent committee.
Which rule, red?
Yes, red, I just started last week.
No food or drink in patient care areas for the staff...
middle management is a tough go red, those you used to work with, you now give orders to,if something goes wrong the big boss blames you for not managing the employees correctly you get crap for both ends from the top down, and from the bottom up
So cool Scrabbler.
<-- agrees with crossy
very true, crossy
But I get such a chance to keep so many people safe...
Red, you can always acknowledge that you used to break that rule too, but that you understand that enforcement is necessary.
(crossy? is it as miserable in the oil pit for the tech as i think it is during wet/cold weather? still thinking about that oil change)
Do you have a newborn nursery or NICU, red?
I do tell people that I was the number one violator of the policy upfront. I tell them that I understand it is a challenge, and then I tell them that it is still the policy.
it may go right most of the time, but the one time it goes wrong, it goes terribly wrong. So it is worth taking care.
Yes, we have a regular newborn nursery. No NICU.
haha, '60's dance, fr4/10, and pl - whee! *puts on white gogo boots*
It was just amazing how I sounded so "tow the line"
uhm .. i understand that you want to make a connection with the folks you're educating, red - but be careful about your admissions
applauds rbuds go go boots!!!!!
Welki, the thing is I worked there, EVERYONE knows that they have never seen me without a cup of coffee, so i can't hide it anyway.
I hate seeing Staph outbreaks in NBNs--skin infections.
you know better now, red :D
For some reason our nursery and L and D is the one area that is doing well. I have so far left them alone. We do low risk delivery only.
i'm going to ask my daughter how well-educated she's been in infection control policies - she's a new nurse working in the step-down unit
welki,re: oil changes, most are inside now,and one oil change is much like another, regardless of weather
The policy has traditionally not been enforced, so its a tough go we are slowly introducing people to the policy again...like all change its hard.
What bugs me is when gloved staff (even in food prep places) rub their head or face then touch the person/product. If we could actually see germs we would be so paranoid.
I'd be curious to know how she feels Welki! Step down is a great place to work....very busy though.
i know that, when she was a paramedic, she was very well-versed in safety procedures
Generally staff are well educated, they just tend to get tied up with other things or think their hands are clean...when they are just germ farms....we would be scrubbing in bleach if we could see germs!!!
fireflies. Must love and leave you. *hugs*
Are there any demonstrations, e.g. with a colored product, to show the spread of germs?
Yay Sprite. Bye.
so,are they going to phase out those nurse food stations you see on every floor of the hospital do you think, they will isolate employee lunch areas and fridges for food and strictly make all patient food come from the main kitchen?
We do glitter bug, a cream that they apply and then wash. I found out though it sticks really well, so now I have the staff put it on and I come back 6 hours later, and they see where the flourescense is like in crevices or their rings.
de5 always makes me laugh--silly word. I guess it means to deflate.
woohoo, sprite! bye!
Cool, Red. I always wished there was a way to show staff how germs travel via the staff.
Cross- we do not have nurse food stations. All nurse food is stored in the staff fridge in their breakroom. Employees are to eat in the break room or the cafeteria. But we have no restrictions on family coming.
is that "ex" good for anything? nothing I see
in toronto general hospital they are phasing out all those magazines and books in all the waiting rooms, they say they are handled by too many people
Scrabbler a bottle of the lotion is only 14.95. there is also a glitterbug powder. It is also a great way to check on how thorough housekeeping is. I apply the powder to parts of the room, and recheck after they clean.
We have books only in our waiting room, no toys.
our nurses/doctors seem to eat everywhere, the nurses station, the food station on each florr..guess changes are in the sind
crossy, I've always thought that while looking at the mags, imagining how many sick people have groped them, ick

*heads to pb all on his own
60 points for Ru!!!
just got started, ty rururocks
there are 4 ur5's, with odd combos of vowels and such after the ur, ur + Mr Onassis being one, and a diff. last vowel for another
rob, they all begin with ur. u + you might like your steak medium-****
could someone clue the last di8 please?
di + ur6?
ra 5/12 after the 6/21 "
di8 - you might take this to rid your body of excess water (sort of like the first one with a different second vowel)
plural the ra4, sammy
both di8's are a lot alike, only one letter difference (the 3rd)
hey sammy, did you see my other post? is it okay if i share your flag story?
tyt
re 7/52?
absolutely welki...i walter will be pleased that it will be shared
ru, sounds like latin plural of places where you or animals might go to for safe-keeping or shelter
thanks, sammy!! off to do that and read. later, babblers!
thanks
got it
SMom, I wish I lived in a neighborhood with neighbors like you and Walter. : )
STILL CANOT SEE THE MIDDLE RA 5/12 ????
thank you molly
... well there's 203 ... ... 204 if you count "freeride" which is a perfectly good term in economics (at least "freerider" is) ... ... ... plural of a quick fight
... barkeep! a good afternoon for everyone! ...
molly my tidbit reminds me of the item in your prifile.. the teachings of abraham
*slides good afternoons down the bar to doseffing*
ra5/12 = pl of ra4/5, goes to a diff. D
I wonder if there will be another 700 grid tomorrow?
unless there are more ra5's, I'm not done yet
i do not see how the ra 4 can be made into a plural
does it follow the ra6, "ra6's of the lost ark"?
or the ra4 that is the name of a bug spray brand?
... three ra5/12 ... ... plural of half circle diameter
unless i stop being stubborn and go down instead of up-lol.... thanks
yay! :)
... plural of a quick hitting fight ... as a Canadian ... I think Dieppe
... past tense of a very uncommon item
clue for re 8/60 please.
bright color + oral dispute. strange word
ty, sammy great clue.
i missed a 700+ grid? dang
re8/60: Commie color + "I am not going to ***** with you; I know I am right"

Gads, ever since I've gone low sodium, I am super sensitive to salt in things. Taco seasoning must have a gabillion grams of sodium in it. One bite of the taco meat and I am downing water. Must find a low sodium recipe for taco seasoning.
Sounds like a plan Cos. You must have Pagan roots.
hm. i enjoy that kind of thing. i love camping and bonfires

Hi all again. How goes it?
hi Red
this gr** is not as nice as I once thought...
quite a few unusual words but still fun
and now I must say ad5.14 (and its plural uses the X!)
ty for that hint!
first te5? I don't think it exists...
Son of a bitch, my horse won the Derby!
yay!
that really cool Molly! did you win anythign?
Alas, I do not place bets, just pick a horse. But how could I not pick a horse called "I'll Have Another"?
love it, Molly
still very very nice...
Good odds for those who did bet. I think he started at 15/1.

She got a little overzealous with a clue...
clue the singular for me cos?

te +double vowel + letter, pl
That was hardly worthy of the PB- I've seen people do a lot worse and get away with it.
She threw herself in! She was crazed with shame! ;)
Pish posh.
what sort of crazy word is that?!?! ty cos
yeah, I didn't even get her "giveaway" clue -- she typed two letters of it by mistake but without the ** there was no way to tell which letters :P
fireworks and yw viajes
wtg cos
<-- thinks Molly just wanted to go to PB so she could drink tequila and dance on tables
What's going on in there?
Cinco de Mayo and a full moon...could get wild!
What part of clearing off a table does my family not understand?
Combination Cinco de Mayo festivities and Kentucky Derby winner celebrating. Drinks all around!
Cheers!
The part where you do not serve dinner again until they learn to put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
Assuming I am the server.
How about not using our meagre living room as a dumping grounds?
Ground.
What gets left lying around goes in a trash bag.
I am tired of living with people who are messier than I am.
I've done that! Thrown it into the garage.
wish I could tell you it worked.
Ha!- I made the mistake of recycling a pile of papers that were in the car and they were all my daughter's notes for the year
I held it for ransom until people started acting like they had a stake in keeping our home neat.
But it FELT good!
Fortunately the recycling was still in the bucket
Boy, did I pay for that!
It worked for me. Same thing with dirty clothes all over the bedroom floor. They get twitchy when they have nothing to wear.
I don't have the power to do that in my household. They get outraged if I throw away something that was left on the counter
And I gave up on the laundry thing because both my husband and daughter let it pile up
It's really pathological how little control I have
How little control you have or how little control you take? (Playing devil's advocate)
I must be off -- back for my last 15 later
Because my husband really never puts anything away. If he goes on a trip, the suitcase stays on the floor in the upstairs bathroom for weeks after he gets back.
I ceded control a long time ago, Miss Devil.
The funny thing is my oldest daughter is on her own, and very careful about neatness in her apartment. My youngestwill probably do the same. But my husband has not set a good example, and I am not the paragon of neatness either.
I don't unpack until there's something in there that I need :-)
then you can't move in with me, though you would probably do OK with my husband
:-)
I refuse to live with messy people. It doesn't take that much effort to pick up after one's self.
I have a lot of leeway living alone
Ya think?
I was the same way, until I married my husband, who cared about being neat. I did it for him, and now I get all crazy if there's clutter.
How do I get a messy, hoarder husband to change after 41 years?
Too late Bich.
Problem with the hoarders is they know what they have. Ain't no sneakin' it out!
bbl...dinner club calls!
You got that right Champ. Hubby went camping today and won't be home til tomorrow. I washed the bedding a couch covers. Had to move all his crap and now I know he's going to be mad when he returns. Never mind the house is less allergenic
Bless you Bich. I would go mad having to live like that.
I like artistic clutter but hate clutter
clutter clutter
I'vve been in my studio all day, and it's cluttered, but it's a STUDIO
I otherwise think I might feel better in a really cold modernist space
I even like generic hotels for that reason.
It's really because I have ocd and add gr**ations, and can't manage my own stuff when it gets beyond certain proportions
I have a really hard time with paperwork.
I have to write 3 notes from last Thursday night but couldn't get into the front office at work where the charts are because I lost my keys weeks ago
OCD and ADD are just excuses, but if the diagnosis fits...
I'll be quiet now and let someone else talk
Do you remember when Spiro Agnew called liberals ef6 snobs?
And nattering nabobs of nepotism? William Safire wrote it for him, I think.
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
nattering nabobs of negativism, I mean.
Hi all! Kap - I wouldn't like to try to say that after a few alcoholic drinks!
Hi all! Could i get some help on the Di8
37 words left to find...
Hi jac
tijani - both di8 words are different spellings of a drug that removes water. It's also found in dandelion leaves.
Hi, Kap!
thanks jac!
y/w, tij.
I wonderedif that was a word- I tried two rs and an h.
Going to dive into the g4/7 now to find my missing words.
ef6/36 please
Hi everyone
Hi Annie
Go back a few minutes- Spiro Agnew called liberals "ef6/36 snobs."
tij - ef6 means sterile or worn out. Sounds like you might be describing a man who is more feminine than masculine.
Hi Jacula :)
Or has a foot fetish.
Kap - LOL!
thx
I see we have gone from messiness to fetishes. All in a day in this chat log.
Hi Molly and LOL.

we did a bunch of testing.. I haven't decided when to do it. I need to line up nursing care as well
,---not in a hurry for knee surgery
the hospital or doctor usually sets up nursing care
Yes but Ru wants the nurses in the tight mini skirts.
I know you are not in hurry, ru. but aren't you tired of the pain?
I only had one knee done a few years ago, arthroscopically and did not need any nursing care and only used crutches for a day or two and took only 2 pain pills
are you having both knees done at once. you can tell me to shut up :)
yes.. both at once.. and a little tummy tuck.. lol

jmc - ruru is already strapped up when the kinky nurse enters the room. His eyes widen as he checks her out on her approach. 'My Heroine!' he crys. 'Why would you say that?' she asks. You lot can write the rest of the story now. See you all later!
Oh, yea, I forgot! 'My Hero!' he cries.... carry on!

:-D
words with friends, just another untested half-baked money making zynga game supposedly replacing Scramble, which was free and was awesome. Zynga revenue to reach $1.8 billion, from which it will make $630 million in profits in 2011. Why bother when we can babble with the best for next to nothing!
good point, scrambler -- I really like scramble, and was very upset when it was discontinued.
I am still trying to get over it! I finally got up to play with the big boys with word IQ'S of +150 and then they junked it! :[ Now I have babble! :3
yep. I <3 babble!
ok, I am happy with my progress on today's gr** and am going to go relax and read for a while. See you all tomorrow!

Gr5/14ings Babble friends! I was able to babble earlier in my fr 4/7 time. I have made a small de 4/5 in the gr 4/7 with 158 words. Now I will be an ai5/12 and ai 4/5 you with a story for my de 4/5 Babble friends to re 4/5. My Mom was an en 7/32 & en 7/36 me to be a teacher. When she suggested it, I did not ar5/16 with my Mom. I thought it was a gu4/8 id4/5. My Mom always has good id 5/12. Plus I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was te4/4ager. However, I was nervous that I wouldn't be a good teacher. My mom sa 4/5, "do not fr 4/7 over that because you'll be great.". Now I am an ESL teacher and I teach all different gr5/16 levels. I like my third gr 6/27s the best. I am af6/30 that hubby is a ne6/21 and ne 4/5s the computer. How da /5 he take it away from me! If I do not give it to him, I will have to deal with his tir5/12.I hope I have steered you in the right di6/24ion with my story. I did not ed 4/5 my story so there may be some mistakes. I am going get off my re 4/4 and go be a ra 6/21 and ra 4/5 the refridgerator for a snack. Now I bid you ad6/39. I will see you tomorrow in Babbleland
family and friends converge tomorrow for cake & music

en5 is come into a place
add a vowel to the end for en6 meaning guts
Thanks so much, jes.
en6/21 means to lure or arouse
en6 is tempt, then one who does, and past tense of same.
Thanks very much, Molly and jes.
en 7 and 8...the first part sounds like what you are low on if you are tired, then add what is to the left of the chat box, minus the R
en7/40 is like solar en**** but with a Freudian ending
thanks molly and tor

*Watches Jes and Harry race to the finish*
I'm fading fast

Harry pulls ahead by a nose!
one of them makes you pee

if it was di, HarryHood, it would be not the same

af and ef are medical terms, meaning away from and towards, respectively. they end like a di word meaning not the same
last ur5 please?
ur+ pee inducing ending
Jes charges across the finish line in a heated dash. Covered with a blanket of red roses, she awaits Harry to hand him the second place trophy.

How is the horse doing? Is he going to be rideable?
