I do make a good one, and it's très easy. put ladyfingers in a pan, sprinle w/espresso. beat together mascarpoe + powdered sugar + amaretto and a little salt, layer. repeat. garnish w/ground espresso. No chocolate! That's it. Now, the thing is: I don't measure! Which is fine for a small pan, but I need to think about how to octuple my usual quantity. Might make a test one first, keeping track of measure, emts. This is for my synagogue for saturday night. Holiday is Shavuoth.
mascarpoNe! sorry.
sounds yummy melon
200 down, 8's and 9's found - enough for tonight. See you tomorrow afternoon. :)
it is! I'm also making stuffed shells for my family. Given my heritage, I've decided to call myself Jewtalian.
OK, better sleep. Buona notte! Laila tov! [poof]
nite, cybernan.
Evening.
hi Neil
am i stuck???
am i stuck???
yup i was stuck
Hi flosey.
Hi Neil
Hi Erda. How are you? :)
And you, flosey?
Sorry I didn't ask before!
hi & bye, Neil, sorry to miss you. Happy upcoming Shavuoth.
I was stuck on a word here.
Hi and same to you, melon. :)
well, thanks Neil
Glad to hear that flosey.
hi neil!
Hi jilli. How are you doing?
Ok, now really to bed. {{poof}}
I just wrote you a note, Neil, and it disappeared. In short: I'm OK and thanks for asking.
Oh, ok Erda... well that's good to know!
Doing fine, thanks, neil -- and you?
How did it disapear? Did the chog eat it?
Good to hear jilli and I'm well thanks.
I find the chog get stuck sometimes. And not always at the hiccup time either.
No idea, Neil. It's a strange day, all around...
I think I entered a post and it's not there. So I do it again then suddenly after a delay, it appears in duplicate... sometimes triplicate even.
You're telling me, Erda? We could compare notes... but I'm betting my strange day outstranges yours. lol
Eh -- cute!
when the going gets strange.. the strange get going
outstrange -- now there's a word I must remember!
ru! :)
Sorry about my tireness last night... oy vey. Did I even make any sense at all? I'm doubting it.
yes.. a lot of sense actually
I was mixing up everything. I was seriously overtired... had not slept the night before.
Oh cool ok. I know I didn't make total sense but at least I tried. lol
ah.. to be young and stay up all night
I miss those days
And the date thing... he's still in NYC so Mom put the celebration off until he's back, briefly. So I guess in my mixup it hadn't happened yet, haha.
there are medications for hallucinations neil
Oh it wasn't voluntary. Just had a sleepless night... being woken up by a car alarm on the street didn't help much. I wished I had a gun!
:)
I would've shot the alarm off through the car window, no kidding.
I hear that. I hate those things
No kidding. I don't have one. Nobody would want to steal my old dinged up truck anyway.
We have a neighbor who's car is so sensitive that when a motorcycle goes by it sets it off
Oh man. I bet that neighbor's not too well liked?
not really.. I've had a few choice words..
Haha @ medications for hallucinations. Yeah... and drugs that produce them too. :P
I bet. I sure would.. and a few of them would be repeats of a certain "bomb" too.
I live in a very quiet neighborhood and I often wonder what makes people keep slamming all those eight-door cars in the middle of the night...
he's the winner of the TOny Robbins look a like contest
Oh hell Erda. We live in an apartment building and I'm constantly wondering why some people feel a door is not shut properly unless it's SLAMMED shut.
Yup, Neil.
I couldn't live in an apt any longer
He seriously is?
Well ru. We're young and broke... so not much choice for now. At least it's a home.
yes.. we all gotta start somewhere
And mostly it's not bad.
There are worse buildings we could be in for sure.
I got my first apartment at 16
Wow. I was still in HS then.
I was too
Why did you move out? And how did you support yourself if you were in school full time?
I worked graveyard and went to school during the day
Ok. Then when did you sleep?
At work?
in the afternoon
You needed a job as a mattress tester. Perfect.
I went to work at midnight
Wow. You didn't get much sleep then.
nope
but it was better than what I left
Oh man. That bad?
yeah.. that bad.. that's why you need to treasure your parents.. you got good ones
I do ru... every day. I'm sorry you didn't. :(
it's fine.. past that now.. I have a good life now
I'm glad.
thanks
other than these stupid grids
Amazing how someone can come from that and turn out as well as you have.
Ha. But you always finish them?
Of course.
not always.. but almost always..
You've just gotta beat them into submission sometimes. These grids I mean... not your parents. :P
.. if I could just have dart arrested for a few days
Haha!
So what's this "race" you have with him? To get higher in the rankings?
he threw the gauntlet a while ago.. I'm chasing him.. just to keep him honest
You believe that?
He's sneaky, remember.
ever sooo sneaky
*waves to dart*
Yep. But I have a feeling you are too. ;)
Exactly. He's probably right here.
*blinks*
getting drowsy, must get to bed, goodnight all
And sure enough... there he is.
night flosey.. remember .. NO Car alarms
Logged in. Ha.
Ok flosey... sweet dreams.
going off island early hope to be back shortly after noon
No. And if one goes off... outside with gun.
are you near Tofino Flosey
Gotta get me one of those.
lol ru, we're a fair distance from the road, if I'm asleep it would take sirens to wake me
LOL ... really?
I'm a light sleeper
not really near, have been up there couple of times - I love it in late Fall when the waves are big and the wind whistles through the trees
I think Tofino and Long Beach are the prettiest areas I've ever been so far
are you up Johnston Straits?
have a ticket to go whale watching so may go back up this sometime this summer
I did studies up there
Straits of Georgia, we're between Vancouver Island and the mainland
closer to Van. Island
oh.. I've been there.. it's gorgeous there
it is
Hey ru, flosey... if you like scenery, check out these jigsaw puzzles [scroll down to see them]: http://tinyurl.com/6pjwfkh
Except for the 2 photos of me on the elephant, they're my photography... shot in East Asia.
will do that on my way out Neil
I agree. Ruru, we're just a bit north of Seattle.
I miss working in Seattle
And you can see more of those I have up for sale on SmugMug [no pressure, really]: http://tinyurl.com/6vm6t3l
that abandoned house looks interesting
Hey jilli. I did each of your puzzles on Jigidi.
I have 8 there now.
Oh yeah and obviously the most recent 2 are not from East Asia. Although the one of my neighborhood is my photography.
anyone having trouble with loading ironsudoku please
And the last one of me and Brad was taken by Elisse.
I had several more there a while ago, neil -- don't know why they disappeared. I must add some more!
Haven't tried, DTins... but I will now.
TY Neil
Yep. Error... code red. Won't load.
TY same here
Oh reallyjllli? That happened to some of mine a while ago too and I thought it was just me.
I'll try it later
night. .. see you tomorrow
Yeah. I'm sure it will be back up at least by tomorrow.
Night ru.
I'm off to sleep too.
Sure need it. Still not caught up on that.
fireworks and farewell - happy babbling
Congrats anike.
maybe the guys who run jigidi just delete them after a while, although the ones there were submitted at about the same time.
Hooray for anike and bye!
gnight ruru
I don't know. But maybe, yeah? Could be they only have so much room and older ones get purged after a while... makes sense with so many people using the site and creating puzzles all the time.
Did neil fall asleep?
over halfway so I can go to bed -- goodnight if there's anyone there...*poof
hi, who's seeing deckchair?
{{{liz}}}} long time no see, how are you?
i'm seeing architect....
Fine Rose. Never seem to get enough time to Babble as much as I'd like these days. However, all good.
lovely to see you, dear. doing ok here as well.
Right, that's 2 of the 9s out of the way LOL
doing better than i
but i do have less than 100 to find.....so the grey matter is functioning quite well, thank-you
And.....true to form, better go and get washed and dressed. No Rose, I meant architect and deckchair. I haven't really got any 9s.
lol, liz.....see you alter, perhaps
* later *
hopefully, byeeee
Hi there, rose!!!!
hey peach
You doing OK?
yeah, just another day in the workhouse....but only had to do 6 hours. and you, hun?
Same as most days....sinus and allergies.....otherwise I'm OK. Just can't get to sleep. I've missed most of three summers..LOL
oh, dear, peach.... wish there was some advice i could give to help.
good morning, dear Babble friends
I guess it is a pattern, rose. When I was able to work, I worked 3:00PM to 11:30PM ant then it took a couple of hours to unwind.
hey spritey, lovely grid today/night
Hi there, sprite.
hey peach and rose :) *hug* Tough times, friends?
know th4 well. himself cannot understand how i can go and babble after a shift which finishes at 9:30pm.
babble is a great way to unwind
good grief....blinks in amazement....c's done
Maybe we will get our clock's right some time.
good job, rose! Working on the Ks here.
I tend to get caught up in it, sprite. Have to make myself go to bed. The dogs go to bed before I"m ready. LOL
:) There are several exercises one can do to unwind and become sleep-ready. They might help you. Takes a bit of discipline to actually DO them, of course.
I certainly would be willing to try. Whom should I contact?
I could email you a few. Got to translate them, but that should be no problem. Do you have an MP3 player? I could even make it into an MP3.
Hon, I don't know exactly what I have here....I do have email though: gapeach106623@yahoo.com
ok, I will send you some. Within a few days, ok?
Just put BABBLE on the subject line. I appreciate your helpfulness.
will do!
and np. That is what we are a babble community for.
would someone please tell me how to explain to himself, th4 reading out the entire menu from the ta4-away shop is NOT conducive to a positive response from someone who is playing babble?
LOLLLLL... please tell himself: "darling, you pick me my favorite. Thanks."
That is a good reply.
before or after he reads the entire menu out aloud?
before. After, all you need to say is: "Yes. That one."
rofl....love your style
;)
Ks killed. No biggies at all.
watch out spritey, a few strange ones here. just finding them myself. some are really weird
bound to be, in a grid this size. I kinda like weirdos.
and lol, my new word from a few days back is here. The tree. With the beautiful berries. Berries one can eat.
yes, spritey
*smug* I remembered. All of it. And the plural. *smugger*
ok, ok, you are given permission to be smug
thanks :D
sprite, I was just looking at your pictures in your profile.....great photos. I see you love animals too.
thank you :) Oh yes, love them lots. Animals are amazing creatures.
The young man looks like George Clooney (I do believe he is better looking than George).
which pic is that?
I can't remember not having dogs to love. They love unconditionally. They were (are) more faithful that either of my husbands. LOL
good morning
15 minutes to jump in
Wait, I'll go back to the pictures and let you know.
hi ruby :)
morning dear friend.
lol @ faithfulness. I have not one single complaint about my husband in that area. But yes, dogs are amazingly loyal and faithful.
ruby, still trying to work out if I can come over. Need to find some money for the trip. Looks like it is going to work out :)
oh yay, sprite!!!!!
if I would stay for about 3 days, would that be ok, or would that be too long and taxing for you?
peach, in order to fall asleep, I go through the alphabet looking for 7-letter words for scrabble. There is nothing more moring; it works like a charm
{{rose}}
It says Scrabbler's birthday Oct. 2010 and Haz's birthday Oct. 2010. On Scrabs birthday he has a green bunny on his lap.
boring*
ah! That IS Clooney. Scrabs and Haz have a personal relationship with him ;)
( I sometimes make personal icons for Babblers, just for fun)
ahhhh, dinner here, bbl
You are good, girl.
Thanks for the suggestion for falling asleep. I will give a try, you can be sure.
Ruby, I forgot to put your name on that one.....maybe I am getting sleepy.
enjoy, rose *hugs*
sprite has made wonderful collages of chows for my husband
sprite has made wonderful collages of chows for my husband she is very talented
sprite has made wonderful collages of chows for my husband she is very talented
lol that does not take talent, it is just a bit of cut and paste. It is fun to do it. And if something makes your husband smile, it is a good thing ;)
Rose, did you get the dinner you wanted?
still eating, I think :)
I wish someone would read me a take-out menu! there's no take-out in our village
it is a shame, ruby. So handy, once in a while.
especially Chinese!
ruby, I think you missed my question earlier: if I would stay for about 3 days, would that be ok, or would that be too long and taxing for you?
there isn't a single decent oriental restaurant in the whole agglomeration
that would be heaven! no, I didn't see the question
aw you must miss good chinese food very much :(
do you eat spicy food?
and what are your favorite drinks?
Well, dear ones, my eyes are getting droopy...since it is almost 5:00AM here, I guess they are allowed to be droopy. See y'all later...I still have 83 more to find. Hugs.
what color wine, e.g.?
oh yes, love it. As long as it has taste and is not only burning my tongue off
{{peach}} I hope you can sleep
sleep well, peach. *hug*
I don't drink alcohol, it does not go with my meds.
orange or grapefruit?
would 3 days be ok or too long/taxing, ruby?
either or both :D
3 days is perfect!
good!
and puppy has settled down nicely; no more biting
ok. I think I will try to ta4 Terra along then. He will love the adventure.
and will be company for you in the car
does he wear a seat belt?
I might come by train. There seems to be a speedy connection.
no, if I come by car, Terra will be in a travel bench.
that is better, then you can read!
and the train is 7 minutes from the house
have to run; I'm happy, sprite!
yes :) And walk, etc. I need to switch trains in Paris, but that should be ok. good metro there.
bye ruby :) Me too!
How lovely Sprite - I am very happy for both of you. I am sure Bert(Burt?) will be pleased to meet you too
hi lyn :) xxx I hope so. I might be a bit of a distraction for him, from his troubles. And I can make ruby smile a lot ;)
and what an adventure for Terra, he will be beside himself
he is such an easy dog. He loves everything, is never afraid, is curious as can be and he is ok with sleeping for hours if nothing happens.
* sulking* spritey gets to visit ruby before me....not really.....so glad you can visit her, spritey, she does so need some wholesome female companionship.
wholesome! - see Sprite, a new description for you!
Hello Rose
roflollllllll! omg...
wb rose! Did you get the meal you wanted?
well I promise to make her laugh... and talk. Can't promise more than th4.
what a fun grid, any combo you try takes
I agree! Really good one.
found me a 9!
clever girl
*grin* Am always late with the biggies. But it feels good to find some by myself.
yes thanx, spritey. just had the best chicken kebab ever. and no nasty after-effects.
ha good!
me thinks the bowel probs are actually due to stressing out about the surgery. i used to throw up when stressed, th4 time????
can't say for you, but I know it works that way for me. Whenever I am stressed, the bowels are misbehaving.
at least it is better than throwing up, hun. You will get some food inside of you this way.
yeah, but it doesn't hang around for long, lol
*grin* no. But longer than when the stomach misbehaves.
now see the trick is not to think about the surgery - I know I NEVER thought about it beforehand. Besides that weeks and weeks away
hm, not for me. If I don't think about it, it will stress me up more, unconsciously. Best for me is to take a moment, register all I feel about it and what it does with my body. Then put it aside for a minute and just breathe consciously. And then focus back on myself and accept that this is how it is.
however I did think about the lovely rest I would get in hospital and being waited on hand and foot - lovely!
hehehe... I love you, lyn. you are such a wise woman.
lyn, not sure if you know, but have been formally diagnosed as unstable andina, plus the central sleep apnoea....do you see where i'm going with th4? frankly, i'm scared outta my brain. i know, i know, us nurses know too much.
andina? Or is that angina?
and i won't have a computer to play babble for 6-10 days...waaahhhh!!!
Yes - you do know too much. You are in very good hands - you should know, you picked them!
lol rose, trust me, you will be ok. The withdrawal from Babble will be the worst of it all.
lol, angina...duh, my brain is slowing down. have taken my night-time meds.
Maybe treat yourself to a Kindle or like Rose...you can read and pretend it is Babble!
have your love print out the puzzles and play on paper :D
hey, what about himself putting babble, enable and lickety onto his laptop? think it will work?
yes of course
are you sure you can't take your laptop in Rose? I hear some hospitals have WiFi now
most hospitals have internet now
then he can use the desk top, and i can have the laptop. * grin *
absolutely!!!
i don't have a laptop personally, use the desktop. he has the laptop.
well, a hospital stay is a very good reason to trade for a couple of days.
He will love to 'lend' it to you I am sure
especially as he still owes me a bathroom
argh! That is true. No chance he will finish that before you come home?
he had better pull his finger out hadn't he?
lol lyn!
just a common expression here Sprite - does sound rather rude when written out I just realised
handed him the "p0ackage" from the surgeon to read. it says an occupational therapist will home visit before surgery, to make sure everything is sake for me. if it isn't, i have to go into rehab until it is....
love it, lyn. So very apt.
that should put him into motion.
oh dear....*package* and *safe*
so that would mean he has to look after Mum and visit you every night - he HAD better get busy!
don't think he will like it, if i'm not here to keep things ticking over.
almost done and now I finally see the superlative ending. Jeez.
lol, absolutely....and since he cannot write a shopping li4, we could be in a pack of trouible
what will happen with MIL Rose, esp while you are in hospital - can you get her into respite?
if you will allow me this bit of criticism, I think it is time for him to grow up.
hang on Sprite - that is a bloke you are talking about!
her care- co-ordinator is looking into th4 aspect, lyn. she realises hubby is going to have his hands very full.....what are our chances of getting his sister to look after mum for a while? but MIL does have respite booked for 3 weeks, starting 9th july.
so? Blokes are people too :)
only (half) joking
agree, sprite, himself needs to get his act together. i won't be here to pull him out of the gunky, so to speak.
hehehe I know. But I really believe that men can do anything we can, if it comes to planning and caring and getting life organised. They just do it in another way than we. And when they are not used to do it themselves, it can be scary.
so he will make some mistakes, rose. He will manage. And learn along the way, just like we do ;) ;)
well, after the last experience, when i had my ankle fused...i can assure you, he is going to be very firmly put in his place, he is the carer, I AM THE PATIENT!!!!
exactly. It is up to you to say NO to all demands that are not helping your recuperation. As simple as that.
i hear you sister.
:)
my dear friends, have to be up and outta here in 10 hours. still have a couple of emails to respond to, then bed for me. love, hugs, and look after yourselves.
will think of you, rose. Take care of yourself, hun. *hug*
see you Rose - you do the same won't you. xx
*poof*
ha5/22 is a weird one
fireflies :) What a lovely grid this is.
Congrats!!
thank you :) Don't need to ask you if you need any help... have a lovely evening, lyn! And bye all.
bye Sprite - enjoy the rest of your day
Hi all - anyone have a clue for the last th6/24?

Good. I'm looking forward to it coming out on DVD.
oh, COME ON - since when is the sh5,20 also a verb?
Tri - eyes wandered over to the chat on my way out ... and caught "Marigold" -- saw it last night too - and it went to my Film Favorites list. Haven't seen such a group of uniquely memorable characters in years. Will read the book.
thanks jwr. glad to be validated!
are you in massachusetts? how amazing would it be if we were in the same theatre!
ok, getting on the road soon, will be in Massachusetts tonight...
wave as you go buy, uusue!
where are you, trif? I'm only going as far as South Hadley...
norwell. no where near south hadley, unfortunately. but the weather is gawgeous here at present, so you will love it
I think we're in the same latitude at least -- San Francisco. going 'poof' in a minute, calls coming in. Gotta get back on the crisis lines.
or is that longitude??
hmmm. hardly handy, san francisco...guess we were not in the same theatre then!
oh, good, trif, hopefully it will still be nice on Saturday for the alumnae parade!
nah. Babble makes connections, doesn't it.
absolutely jwr!

There was just an ad on the TV for the movie you saw last night.
::yawn:: i have a mere hour of peace until my crazy day gets kicked up. when they told me i would be getting a blackberry with my new position, i wasnt thrilled at the idea of having a leash. but now i realize that i need it because i will get nothing done otherwise. ::WHEW!::
ooohhhhh, AD on - I thought I had to add something to the os word....duh
How are you enjoying the new position?
still transitioning, but MAN, its some culture shock! way busier + faster-paced than my old/current position!
Well you will be awesome!!!!! Go for it!
Trif...I am getting tertiare today right? What time?

Your house is pretty lucky you
And now, I must turn my attention to the buttload of work I have waiting for me. UGH.
Bye Caree
That is the problem with this area. It's so transient. As soon as you start getting to know, and like someone, they are moving off to somewhere else.
Good bye Herin!
Good bye everyone! I wish you all a wonderful day!!!! {{hugs}}
Wishing you a wonderful day too, Car.
TY Molly!!! {[hugs}}

politicians use tactics like that because they are incapable of addressing issues the citizens really care about,, like attacking women's rights! Come on!
go angel go
*refuses to discuss politics*

Sorry but I refuse to believe in any political party or power that believes that woman's reproductive rights should be shoved back into the closet and that homosexuals should burn in hell

I'm with herin. My son is gay and I support him 100%. It was not a choice. It was not what he wanted. He is a wonderful young man and should not be judged by his sexual preference. He and his partner live happily in DC.

congrats vanilla = Babble sucks us in every time
ty been on 1029 for yonks because I seem to miss one every so often
oh well got todays in better get some sleep have a great day/night everyone
I have been corrected - ti**s are arachnids! I don't thinkyou can call it American - the largest number of species is in Africa, and Britain actually has a surveillance program. any warm damp place will be habitable for them, apparently - how we got them in Canada is a mystery!
Whoo, that's probably more than I ever needed to know about t4s.
Wish it was more than I needed to know!
Hello all :)
a??
ti**,s are not an issue here but out in the western provinces the little buggers carry some nasty diseases
lots of a,s mu,take yer pick
What has more lives than a cat? A frog -- it croaks every night.
So there's this Wizard who worked in a factory. Everything was satisfactory except that certain miscreants, taking advantage of his good nature, would steal his parking spot. This continued until he put up the following sign: "This parking space belongs to the Wizard. ... Violators will be toad."
ty for making me laugh BR
ti**s here and very dangerous for dogs
they are disgusting (not the dogs)
hello ruby - bad for dogs and people (carry Lyme disease)
((ruby))
big hug for teach and crossy!!!!

da7/48 please
da 4 before it with ending to make it the most
the most of the da 4/9 above it
thank you
hey all, home with a migraine. should I give this one a try?
its quite large with lots or normal words but some toughies that i have had to monkey with but it feels slow
thanks kazzer, I won't try to get too many then -- if there are lots of normal words I might get halfway without too much effort. how's you today?
depends - the first 100 were fun and came quickly - then it slowed down - are you comforetable with just doing how much you enjoy
stid- put a facecloth soaked with half apple cider vinegar and half water on your head and wade into the grid
hot and itchy for some reason (the itchy not the hot). Fed up with everything today - work as a pile of one of the words in the grid
LOL thanks teach and sammysmom -- only ever really attempt halfway these days and that's not too hard on the big grids. Usually. I am more humble and realistic nowadays (compared to when I started babbling).
sorry to hear that kazzer -- iced tea? lemonade? those make me feel better on hot sticky days.
child behavior question. how old should a child be before she/he is put in a time out?
I have been at it for about an hour and got 49 words since I started (I got the first big chunk this morning)
two i think
worked for me
ok then the child in question will be three the end of June, not getting much discipline from parents
a 30 second time out is a big deal when you are that young
time out as go and sit in the corner/naughty step? as soon as they know the word NO
wonder what would happen if I suggested a time out?
depends on the child, peri -- and what you mean by time out. Also depends on why you think a time out is needed... very young kids can handle a time out if they have done something physically destructive.
he know the word no but is turning into kind of a brat
just bratty
meant like sit on the bottom step
I also found that ignoring the worst of the tantrums worked - well it did with my son. I left in the middle of a store once having a screaming fit. Just said goodbye and walked way - worked a treat
If the child hasn't been on a time out before then it will take training to get him there; the first step will be to be consistent, and choose one thing at a time.
thanks for the advice. I am not the parent and the parents seem to be letting him get away with stuff that I would not
i have 4 kids,4 grands, and 2 great grands... not a brat in the bunch... lol
I ignored mine (the one who threw tantrums) too! In the middle of the team store at a baseball game. Stepped right over him (in the middle of the aisle) and kept walking. He stopped throwing his fit and followed me. LOL
we did the time out thing when our boy was young and the rule of thumb was one minute for each year of age,and to use the same spot/chair each time
thing is if this behavior is ignored now it will only get worse.
the other way is to throw a fit back at them. it shocks them into stopping
its a difficult one - some parents just don't seem to care what the little darlings do. thats exactly what my son did
kids NEED to know their boundaries.... it is cruel not to set them and keep to them... sort of like a safety net i think
kids can understand at that age that different rules apply in different places, peri -- but they will test to be sure you mean it, so just be calm and stick to the expectation. Don't ignore or be patient with dangerous or potentially destructive behaviors, of course.
...and there are also children whose parents DO care and set limits, but the children refuse to follow rules anyway. That is a bigger issue than time outs, though.
i think i was vert strict with my son - I never smacked him but he got put to bed quite often
Anybody has a clue for the ra8?
pt of make a noise
you play tennis with ra6, ra8 is past tense
made a lot of noise
past tense tennis paddle?
ra 8 - past tense of ra 6
Thanks peri
once though,we were in the grocery store, and our son would of been about 4.he took a cookie from the bulk bin(he had chocolate all over his face) we dragged him up to customer service, made him confess to taking the cookie and promising not to do it again, but it seems most parents thought we were heathens for doing so(he was crying hard the entire time) but i do not condone stealing
yw
(he has never stole since)
i shall prob call it quits with 78 to go - need to do some house work before tomorrow - see you laters
I would have done something similar, cross.
173 left here
later kazzer ((hugs)) feel better
i did the same think wwith my daughter cross- a candy bar... not only did she learn the lesson well, but the next three kids benefitted from her experience
88 left here - taking a break - BBL
just started raining here
when i was a child,i stole a yo-yo.my da made me confess and i had to wash the shop floors each night for a week
that seems a little harsh, crossy
it's spitting here off and on too peri
How old were you when you had to wash the floors, cross?
I found 6 of the 8's and 2 of the 9's
8-12
rained here earlier - now the sun is back out again
did the same thing to my daughter. she never did it again and was told that if she had asked she could have had what she took. it was a small shop and i knew the people well as i was always in there
It's been in the mid 20's degree-wise here
It's something a lot of kids do -- if they are given a logical consequence most of them learn pretty quick
it's about 16 outside here movieman... I wish it were mid-20s again like week before last!
28c here...we are dying:(
My niece is two (three in November) and whenever she's naughty, she's goes on the naughty step/mat for a few minutes
my worst punishment when i was young was never a spanking ( never had one) never isolation ( there were 12 of us in the house and no place for isolation)................... there was , however, FAMILY PRIDE/HONOR..............F ANY ONE OF US SINNED, our mother would give the offender THE LOOK, and say oh my dear, how could you>........... that was enough
*grin* my mother and grandmother and great aunt have that look...
so tyou know what i mean stid right down to the bottom olf your soul
yep. that I do!
I just hit halfway.
still need NBT though.
I think that is a good idea mm but not sure that the parents or grandparents would agree
and we all need to be consistent
when i was in primary school, parts of ontario still used the strap..never did know how peeing the skin from our hands helps us to write..
peeling
rofl... oh cross! what a great typo!
finally NBT
I have th9 and at9 what is the other 9 pls?
yay stid
ty stid..i think:/

ty mm, will look
ah! a nine would be nice *thinking*
my mrs is a leftie and in about grade 3 or so a teacher whacked her on top of her left hand for using it to write with, she took the ruler off the teacher and whacked her in the arm and said if she hit her again she would call the cops
your mrs is a marvel cross! (of course)
she is indeed
could I get a nudge for one of those nines please?
then I will have to go lie down for a while
at9= what bees are to flowers
at 9/66 to be drawn to someone
awesome, thanks movieman and cross!
yw stid
thanks cross. that was a flood of words

SMom, THE LOOK is a well practiced art handed down from Mother to Daughter. : )
yup
movieman! someoen was asking about you a couple weeks ago
and i love seeing my grand daughter giving "the look" to almost 4 year old sam.... it works
hi everyone
What was the message, cos?
hi cos
Hi Cos
they were wondering if u were still around. they missed asking u for advice on movies
hi cos
Yep, I'm always here, just don't tend to complete as many grids as I used to
thats what I said. "I think he's still around. just gotta be here at right time"
Sometimes I'm out seeing a movie (usually sometime between 12 and 9pm Brit time)
not seeing the ta9
For example, on the 'morrow I'm off to see Men in Black III
The movie theater close by here now has captions on all screens! so excited i can actually enjoy movies now
ta9.. add a vowel befoe the plural letter
That's brilliant cos!!!!
clue for the O pls
plan on seeing snow white and the huntsman june 1st.
os4 babblet jeff
jeff.. os4.. sounds like hotdog brand
Weiners! They are weiners. : P
not getting your clue, cos
ty-needed to leave out the middle consonant
do you have the ta4/7/8/8 too?

lol they're only weiners when I camp Molly
ok. sorry about that. lemme think of a better clue
ta + jesus ****t for the ta7

crossy spelled it out in the chog earlier, peri
ar 6/24 please
ar + a little one is a ****d of God
thanks Molly
And here I was, trying to figure out where the world's shortest sentence "Jesus wept." was in the grid : )
:)
my mouse died, lucky that I had extra batteries
Poor mouse
RIP battery
ok, have ta4,7,8,5 but no ta8
my mouse died last night. took out the batteries from the heating thermo. lol
add a vowel instead of a plural at the end peri
meant no ta9
add a vowel before the plural.
but also use the plural letter.
two ta8s in that combo.
got the ta9 ty
and the 2nd ta8
wtg
tx cos!!
yw une :)
The Revenge season finale was great last night. Hooray for the return of the night time soap!
sure wish they would run dynasty again. i used to watch that with my mom as a kid lol
A group of friends and I used to gather for Dallas and Dynasty when they were on. Drinks, snacks and tr6 TV.
bbl
thanks for the tr6 :) i remember when alexis fell off the balcony then it got cancelled. i was so mad.. the reunion movie was meh
crossy shudders at the thought of soap operas...
oh come on cross... alexis was worth it.
too much baggage and drama on her
I think every female villian since Alexis Carrington has strived to achieve her greatness. The funniest episode of Dynasty ever was the church massacre.
where only minor characters died right?
Exactly : )
my next dvd collection will be the dynasty series
nevermind alexis,crossy missed cuddy
misses
I think there are 4 seasons of Dynasty on HuluPlus.
oh??? lemme look!
we are not allowed hulu here in the great white north
No one else is a big fan of Cuddy anymore, since Edelstein blew off the series finale.
ugh it isnt captioned. D... it
oh wait! seasons 1 - 3 is! not 4 though
she may have blown off the last series but she did well up till then
oh no. it isnt captioned at all :( ill have to buy it.
Oh well, better quality on DVD anyway.
yep. the used dvd store here has most of them anyway for low price.. 15.00 each i think
huh. u can also watch dynasty on cbs.com
I think there must be bad blood between Edelstein and the people at House. Not only was she not asked back for the show's finale episode, but there was barely a mention of Cuddy in it.
i wondered about that -- surprised she wasn't there . . .
briefly here to announce that I now have all 69 T words.
106 other words to find, though, and no time now -- bye!
the last ch7?
never mind :)
Une, the reason I wonder about "bad blood" is because everyone BUT her was invited back to wrap up the show.
anyone have the ta9 clue?
ta + Jesus **r*** + vowel + plural letter
wow, thanks cos
yw :)
take off the last letter for another ta8
good clue, Cos! I was agonising just thinking of how to possibly give a hint for that one.
lol it was the 2nd time i clued it. the first time took me a while to find a way :)
de 6/24 anyone
de 6 - used in solving a mystery
stuck on a ch 6/14. there ARE 2 TOGETHER.. HAVE ONE ?
5/14 that is
ch 6 - double the lasdt consonant of ch 4/4 (burn word) and second one is kind of a graph/map
receipts
thanks teach
ar6/36 please
thanks fthe de6!
ar6 ends with the pt letter
pt letter?
ar + 3rd letter + high tile , past tensed.
thanks
:)
<--sucky at cluing
i got it on second one. i am terrible at clueing

we drag ourselves into water or shade
... and remove their toques
hi all

Cos, I'm going to a pig-racing event next month. Like a horse race, but with pigs. The losing pig in each race will be roasted.
oh no
Yes, well be like the N'avi and bless the pig and thank it for it's sacrifice, so that you may eat. Amen and pass the baked beans.

LOL Stid!!
Is it like horse racing Soodle? Do you wear big hats and have exotic drinks whilst you watch the race?
awwww, poor pig!!
hi soodle
if they put an umbrella in the guiness that would be exotic, yes?
everythings exotic with a lil umbrella
Not sure what is suitable attire for the spectators, Molls, but the pigs wear little numbered jackets.
I got a great video of the bees in the medlar... I'll go put that up and brb
You people crack me up. All you do is offer up bacon recipe after bacon recipe to Cross. But mention a pig roast and it's "Poor Pig".
saying that i can't say much as i had pork loins for tea :)

i've never given crossy a bacon recipe as i think he has enough of his own molly

wow. the island that Liz lives on in is the grid -- and counts!
ci 7 is an old stringed instrument, precursor of the guitar
i can't think of the island stid?
and plural for the ci 8
the island is near guernsey, in the channel, a stone's throw from France
molly im reading an interview with lana parilla and she says she partly bases her character on freddy krueger
the shortened version of my real name is in the grid today..which is how i prefer to be called
ci 7: ci + **** she blows (whaling expression) + vowel
and annie wilkes
so the island is sa**
fish me...thanks stid :)
Soodle, I'll put five on Load Of Porkies : )
Wow Cos, that is a creepy combination for inspiration.
Sorry Stid.... Hurling is the one of the National games of Ireland. Played with a stick, and very very fast. Its a wonderful game. LOL Molly

Ah!!!! Known as Talking to God on the big white telephone here....
yep. that's what made me look it up, molly -- I figured that our version of hurling couldn't possibly have a fan club!!!!
i know people who enjoy it stid
okay, down to 118. Need to spend some time in the sun again. Will be back in a little bit. Soodle, if I don't see you again, enjoy the losers! *wicked bacon mama grin*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling
Its not for another month yet, Stid! I have no doubt our paths will cross in the meantime!!! :-)

85 in Ireland. Hotter than in CT Soodle
Lovely Soodle. Are you having an ice cold beverage to celebrate that with?
2nd ly6?
never mind
Alas No, Molly. I am financially embarrassed at the moment. But I took a half day from work, and laid out on the kid's trampoline.... (think Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man..). I am tingling all over!!!
my husband said it was 29 degrees in scotland soodle and that was at 5pm..been hot here too today...windy where i live up north but still hot
that sounds like fun soodl
I call the trampoline my frying pan......
cos, you mean the words of a song?
no a person who writes the songs
i need the one after that
*Sets the timer for Soodle to get bombarded by all the sunscreen wearing skin cancer fearful*
then plural
i need one of them soodle :)
the 6 after that
And raises an eyebrow at laying out on a trampoline. For God's sake woman, have you no lounge chair?
a person who writes ly5 is a ly6
Baz Luhrmann ringing in my ears..... I sunscreened!!!!

When does your daughter get her summer holidays, Lilli?
can you clue it please cos as i don't have the first 3 ra's
*Sends Soodle back to Dowager 101 class. Decorum BEFORE comfort*
two ra6 are related to bigot word..
We do not loll about on rubber bouncing structures.
the first one is ra + half a zero + not her but ***
Molly....... in the privacy of one's own back yard, anything is permissable. Needless to say, I dismissed all the staff before I took up my position on the rubber bouncing structure....
july sometime, i'd have to go on the school site to see soodle. when do yours?
you don't know what you're missing molly...nowt wrong with rubber!! :)
*Shudders and sends an urgent email to Maggie Smith*
Next week Lilliann. I hope she can get a summer job for herself..
that, sounds so wrong...:)
she's too young soodle
your's break up early?
She is 17!!!!!!
Um, no. She's not too young for a summer job. Soodle is talking about her daughter.
actually, i think the scottish kids do too.so you must be both the same
no, mine is 12
oh, sorry soodle, you meant your's get a summer job, i thought you meant mine!! lol
LOL Lilliann :-)
i wish mine could as she would know what it's like to work for money and not just get it handed to her!!
ri7? and lol lill
Daughter Of Soodle needs to get to work so she can buy her Mother cold beer to drink whilst lolling on rubber structures in the back yard.
ri7 is a diesease to do with the bones...children in poor countries suffer from it
Molly. I can assure you that I can maintain decorum and poise as I wallow on the trampoline, á la the Downton folks!!!
*disease, lack of calcium
thanks got it
lol molly
Oh yes, we often see the Downton ladies on a trampoline. *Cough*
was spelling it without the last letter
yw cos
i only need 167 more :)
Thanks be to God I was wallowing on my own today, and that none of the kids were about with their cameras to humiliate me on YouTube....
What comes after the trampoline lolling? Pogo stick jumping?
i would love a trampoline soodle....actually i could get one even having no balance, but would need the neety thing around it...wonder how strong they are??
which would find its way to facebook and onto the babble group :)
Truly, truly I say to you.... you do NOT want to see Soodle in a state of undress on a trampoline.
actually, probably not a good idea...i can see me going through it and landing next door on their flower tubs and breaking their decking!! :)
as long as you weren't naked soodle.....
Oh, so now it's naked trampoline lolling? Yee Gods.
I live out in the country!!!!!! No neighbours. No on-lookers. I can do whatever I want!!!
Calling Tom Beregeson
c
gee whiz, what a time to come back!
*Starts wicked gossip about Soodle on the Babble hotline*
lmao soodle
who's Tom Beregeson cos?
The beautiful John O'Donohue DVD I watched last night, in which he leads the prayerful through the Irish countryside has just been shot to hell.
wb stid and hi annie
Stauchly defending her rights to do whatever she wants on her own trampoline in her own backyard...........
hes the host of america's funniest home videos
Tom Bergeron hosts "America's Funniest Home Videos" which in my opinion are rarely funny...
agreed stid. they were just renewed too!
oh ok, ty cos and stid
oh poo... "cataract" isn't actually in the grid.
*Shreds Soodle's dowager card. Prepares to voyage through dowagerhood alone*
sc6 please?
I think Tom is home, we are going to take a load of lupines to the school. back again soon.
Reconsider, Molly, please. Its the weather. Us Paddies are not used to sunshine, and it goes to our heads. Normal service will be resumed when the rain returns...
oh! before I go soodle... I put the idea of you on the large rubber structure alongside the funny beach picture lady you posted on fb... it makes for a VERY strange mental image of you wild Irish lasses!
*poof*
sc6...is sc + you wear a watch on your wr***
Oops, stick a consonant in there. Like anti***amine.
Sheesh!!! I come onto Babble for a nice quiet game o finding words, and next thing I know, I am a wild woman..... If only real life was like Babble.....
Correction: Wild woman who tans naked on a trampoline.
thanks!
ty molly
I've upscuttled the chog enough for one night. With as much dignity as I can muster, I will bid you all a good night!!!
Right. She's probably off to the pub to dance the hootchy-coo on the bar.

yes welki...he's a geordie and comes from where i lve..but he sounds more southern now, until he gets excited or swears
i like his show and appreciate that he'll get down and dirty with the locals to find his fish - i really enjoyed the program on arowanas
he never said, but he wasn't enjoying it!! what made me laugh, he picked it up and was eating the backside and back leg and said it tasted like a backside but then the peruvians were cutting it up and eating it, even though he had his mouth all over it!
well... can't waste food!
i've always like him, and grew up watching soldier soldier with him in it, which was quite apt at the time as where i lived down south was an army town and my best friend lived up in the married quarters with her then husband
2nd as7 pls
there's a brit who does a survival show that's a bit overboard, but his skills are amazing and he's not bad on the eyes, either :)

which are deadly
no...fried mars bars are scottish!!
did you like our fish and chips?
well, you can get them at the fish place in london
well i'm sure they're deadly, scottish or not!!
I'd skip the mars though for more fish myself
I finally made it to my goal of 200 words. I'm stopping at 200 words and 2895 points. Time to write a story.
woohoo min
well done Min! *shoots streamers into sky in celebration of goal-meeting*

phantom word lickety
are there any gardeners out there?
te8?

I am about to head out for supper
te8, te + consonant + sounds like hot pepper
thanks for the te 8
ty!

i do like my garden...i can get in my back garden but not out until wwe sort it out, or get people in as hubby never here...so i potter about my front yard, so i have alot of pots as i can look after them...i love to grow my own veg and noe know what to grow, but i would love to grow fruit in pots, i have strawberries...what else can grow in pots?
*i can't
Good phantom scrambler!
raspberries might grow in a pot, they like a more acid soil. Citrus trees (some varieties like kumquats especially) do well in pots, but need to be inside when it gets really cold.
there are "columnar" apples and pears that are pot-friendly as well and are okay left outside in most weather.
i do have apple, plum, pear, and cherry trees in pots
I would try any fruit that you really love in pots... blueberries, especially the dwarf kind, would do really well.
same with lingonberries, too.
does that help?
i have raspberries, blackcurrant and redcurrant bushes in back garden but i can't get to them so the birds have a feast, plus my bairn won't pick the berries for me
lingonberries?
thanks min
the lovely thing about growing things in pots is that you can get the soil "just right" for each plant
they are the red vaccinia (related to blueberries) that are common in scandinavia
if they come with canes as in can be planted in tubs then yes, tyvm stid
I have currants and gooseberries in pots, too, now that you mention it! LOL I am a well-ventilated thinker today...
ok, never heard of them stid but i'm going to a garden centre tomorrow so will look
gooseberries in pots...thanks for that
have a lovely time at the garden center, and let me know what you decide! ((hugs)) I'll put more pics of my garden up tomorrow... *poof*
d
let's start again
hi everyone
hi flosey :)
Hello flosey! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
I'm going to get into bed and read, bye dear babblers
hi Annie and Min
bye stid,tc hin
hi flosey
nite annie, sweet dreams and tc
sounds lovely Annie - am exhausted after shopping trip over to Van. Island - going out to late dinner with friends, so no work here
hi Lilliann
Good evening Babblers. How is Babbleonia tonight?
hi there wht
well, started last night, have been away all day so finishing up now
it's a fun grid today, I think
hi wht
lots of base words that give you 3 or 4 more
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
I have been in and out during the day. I have 120 left.
126 left here wht...can you give me the 56 i haven't got :)
*meant the 6 i haven't got
Evening, wht.
ca6,36 automobile + brand of sneaker
i have all the ca's thanks wht, i was joking as in can you give me the 6 words i don't have ...you have 120 words left and i have 126 left:)
I know. I figured I would give you a random clue in case that was one you needed.
oh ok, thanks hin, no, i have that one :)
i need 126 :)
ca5-12 please....thanks
Measure of diamonds, peach.
peach, i read the other day when i went back in chat that you are in wheelchair too or use a stair lift?
Thanks much, wht.
you said to crossy to tell me about a stair lift, but that wasn't what you said.. a stair glider?
Yes, lilliann, I didn't know at the time that you have a chair lift. I rented one when I was living with my daughter in CT for 7 years....it was my only means of getting from the main floor to the basement and garage. I had a chair at each end and it worked wonderfully.
i don't have a stair lift...is that a lift or a chair that goes up the stairs? i go up the stairs on my bum
Some are called stair lifts or stair chair glides. They can install them if you have a turn in your staircase. It gives one much more freedom.
and come down on it too :)
hi folks!
hi welki
hi welki
Hello welki! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
Hi flosey
Oh, Hon, this would be so helpful for you. You would turn the chair lift so that you could transfer from it and then turn it so you will be facing forward and press a button and it will take you up or down and then turn so that you can transfer to a waiting chair at the other end. Please check into it, believe me, it was worth every penny. I didn't buy one because I didn't think it would fit another house...so I rented it for $95.00 per month.
we don't call them either, memory lax..trying to think what we do call them...it will come to me in a while...i can't have one in my house as stairs not wide enough, well they are but then my bairn and hubby can't walk past it plus my stairs go around in a square and i have a big window at the bottom and id we get rid of that then there would be no natural daylight
The seat and foot rest fold up when not in use. Takes up a small amount of space.
googled them for the UK - stairlifts - http://www.stairliftadvisor.co.uk/
my house isn't built for one peach:( and to be quite honest, i'm 43 and want to do as much as i can whilst i can, but as i get older we will have to move to a bungalow, very expensive to buy where we live so will have to wait until out daughter moves out and rent a council one
oh,good for you welki, Lilliann, do hope you'll be able to find something that will fit your situation
ca 6, brand of sneaker?
I don't think it would affect your window light as it is atttached to the bottom of the staircase. And making the turn wouldn't be a problem for the installers.
sa6 pls
hey flosey - must be beautiful on the island
first as7?
has been a gorgeous day welki
sa + gone with the wind home
ty welki, good clue
the problem is welki, ny house isn't built for a stair lift, our hallways are too narrow, so the seat, and what it runs on will take the the width of the stairdase
ca 6, brand of sneaker?
are you asking for a clue, bichon?
as7 the exercise of self discipline
as7 = self discipline - hard to clue, but as + sounds like nautical sibling, but spelled all weirdy
it would peach, because for the seat to go around my staircase, i would jhave to brick up the window
nautical sibling
Hi all. Lil - there is another solution to the sarit lift. A separate lift that doesn't take up too much room and takes you upstairs. See DIY SOS for an example.
*stair lift, I meant!
still looking for ca6? c + past tense of noah's
hi jac
hi Jacula
WELKI - hI. CA + nOAH'S SHIP + PAST TENSE ENDING.
Oops! Didn't mean to shout!
Hi Peri.
i saw that and we were going to have one but the council wouldn't let ius and we put in for planning permission years ago but the council wouldn't let us as we needed to extend the house a little bit and they said it wasn't in keeping with the rest of the houses!!
Oh, I see, lilliann. Perhaps you will find just the right home later, maybe all on one floor. Best luck to you.
Hi folks
190 left
go bichon!
got it
when i win the lottery peach:)
hi bichon
peri, if I got to half way it would be a miracle
Lil - how long since you asked the council that? Ask again, since members may have changed and be sure to ask the opposition, too. You can be sure the opposition councillor will get it sorted for you!
3/4 years ago and we still have the same councillors
Hello bichon! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Lill - try the opposition!
please explain to me who councillors are and what function they serve
too late now anyway as we have done things differently
I opened up th4/5 websi4/4 as soon as from work. I started to at6/33 the puzzle at about 5:00.I at 8/70 it without Lickety's li4/4. Then I li 6/21 after I found 170 words.Made it to 200 words and gave up on grid. Now here is a story for my de4/5 Babble friends. I de 6/21 people who are ra6/21 pigs! I think that it is so unet5/14al of them to dislike others because of their ra 4/5. They seem to have it et 4/6ed in their minds th 4/5 they are better than people with da 4/9 color skin. They don't like African Americans, but they see nothing wrong w/those who are white tr5/12.I think th4/5 those who are ra6/21 are tr 6/27 themselves. Unfortunately, there have been some gr 6/30 crimes against black people when they have been ha6/39 to death. Even hubby has made his stupid remarks. For example, one time I told him one of my students had li 4/5. He asked if the student was black. My anger so 4/4ed and I hi6/24 at him for asking th4/5 question. I told him th4/5 what he said as bullsh4/5. Even some of the people I work with are prejudiced.I work in an inner-city school where the kids aren't ri4/6.Most of the students are black.I've heard some teachers say they are poor because of their ra 4/5. For pete's sa 4/8, how can people still feel this way?Wish I could sh 5/20 some sense into them! Husband wants to ta 4/8 the computer away from me. If I don't give it to him, he will cause major ch 5/14. I am going to get out of th 4/5 se 4/4 & da 4/5 on out of here and watch the TV show Without a Tr5/12. I will return to the ch4/6 log tomorrow afternoon. Goodnight to all babblers!
could question welki...as far as i'm concerned they do nowt, unless it helps them and their families!!
Deafetists attitude never got noone nowhere!
