Bruce's Kitchen - recently opened in Grace Point
Bruce is a former student of hubby's back in Ontario

we had terrible servie but the food was good -- I'll email you the tale.

Both twins were there when we went.
and service was poor?
alright, I gotta get to sl 5/12. Later!

Hi Neil
Hi flosey.
Thanks flosey, wish it were one of mine. maybe soon. They are just beginning here.
*waves to neil*
I have a few tight buds on mine
*waves back to ruru*
Geez. I had to back up and fix typos in that 3x.
Definitely too tired again.
lack of sleep?
:D
PB for ruru
PB ru.
But.. yeah.

Something like that.
didn't see that
thanks ru - and thanks jilli for pointing it out

ty ruru -- you are now forgiven
:D
thanks ru
Haha jilli.
NBT at last!
haha, thought for a sec you meant she'd need a will if she flirted with neil... or maybe a pre-nup...
I have a couple of those jilli... your phantom.
wtg jilli
Huh?
Uhhh no, rbud. I'm happily spoken for. ;)
asthma, neil?
you must have missed the eyelash fluttering, neil? it was very fetching. ;p
Didn't miss it rbud... I laughed at it.
Yep Jilli. Doesn't affect me too often though.
<---felt the breeze
bummer, neil -- glad it's not often though.
Haha ru.
half way
Yeah. Well I have allergies... that goes with it for some people. It's an allergic response.
wtg jilli
have a friend on FB who flew last week from Norway to England, and now has an inner ear problem and (of course) bad balance - could that be allergy related, do you think? via the sinuses? just wondering.
what are you allergic to in LA concrete?
she said it happened last time she flew, too
Lots of things ru. The smog here hasn't helped too much at times. Dust mites, pollen, cats. There is plant life here you know.
where?
Wow rbud. I had a strange experience related to that as a kid one time.
Are you blind ru? :P
the only plants in LA are in pots..
or are pot
Excuse me a moment rbud. Showing ru a photo I took of my neighborhood so he can see plant life. :P
I saw LA once, from 75 miles east, saw the black cloud on the horizon, decided that was close enough, headed north.
:D
Right ru. We're all stoned... all the time.
I knew it
I see trees behind you in your icon, neil, heehee
yes.. I do too.. just beyond the armpit hair
:D
Here ru... taken from the corner of the closest main intersection. See the white apartment building in behind the In-N-Out? That's where we are: http://tinyurl.com/746zb82
oh, you a mean one, Mr. Ru... ;p
See plant life there?
*ignores ru's silly comments*
can i have clues for the 8 and 9 please for nbt and nbs
I guess you don't have armpit hair ru?
*withholds comment*
oooh, the infamous In-N-Out...
Ha.
to8/40, jenny -- don't have the 9 yet
Yep. That's the scene of the road raging incident.
wa 9/78
thanks for the 9
thankyou
no dart tonight... *evil laugh*
wa 7, they issue one if you miss a court date, then add a couple vowels for the 9
oh, dart probably came and went and finished in eight minutes, lol
thanks rbud
yw! :)
*withholds another rude comment*
tyvm rbud -- NBS now too
:PPPP
*sprinkles holy water on himself*
got the 9 from MLF, can't take credit
ahhh that MLF..
Adjust and polish up that fake halo while you're at it ru... it's pretty tarnished.
All this time I thought she liked hamburger.. and all along it's an old aging rock star
Huh?
Meat Loaf Fan
that's what the MLF means
Who is?
wh4, going to need to haul the fan in here now... getting muggy now the rain has stopped
Meat Loaf might be before your time neil.. sorry
"Gonna go all the way tonight..."
hey, Mr. Loaf sings opera, too, maybe that's the draw
Ha. Well remember... my dad's a p/t DJ. We grew up hearing everything.
Oh. Speaking of opera... I have clip for you to watch ru, so I'll email you the link.
I'm not fond of opera
ru... just check email. You'll see.
Neil -- send it to me, please!
I don't have your email address Erda?
Do I?
Yes you do
I have to go to sleep; see you all tomorrow!
Oh wait... maybe I do, yeah. Ugh. Erda?
You don't have the name "Erda" in it do you?
And I'm drawing a blank as to which contact in my address book is you now?
me too.. night all
Oh well.
Well, time to call it a day. Probably won't have time tomorrow -- busy day and then Happy Hour(s) at the neighbours'. Goodnight all and...*poof.
I'm off to bed too, will finish tomorrow
hello
hi and hi Ann Marie
aaahhh fell asleep over the keyboard and there were about 5064 a's in the add word box lol
hellooooo, how are we all? me? on top of the world, at least emotionally. have had my long service leave approved, so the 8 weeks i need for rehab. post-op will all be paid.
great news grannyrose
can you still go away for a while?
hey, van, still here? yes it is. was worried i wouldn't be able to make the mortgage payments whilst off work for so long
van, depends on my post-op physio schedule....am hoping for a few days at least while mother mac is in respite.
its not what you expected lsl to pay for but it must be a relief all the same
ah well, the government isn't satisfied with 42 years of taxes from me...they want another 5 years worth.
yeah its tough
and this decision was made by some twerp sitting in his posh office, with a lifetime pension of 250 grand....
perhaps, or he/she may in your boat too, just doing their job what the powers that be decide
like to see him do 10-12 hours constantly on his feet, literally controlling people's lives in his hands.
sorry, van...do i sound cross? or maybe this person is related to you? wouldn't like to hurt you or yours. but being me, i say it how i see it.
no I have no relative or even friend in there, but I have met a few govt workers who are doing it tough themselves
at least the wolves will away from the door for a while for you while you recover
the lower echelons, maybe, but the heirachy is certainly looking out for number one.
sure
true, van...and i should be thankful. *duly chastised*
lol we all need some cheering
thanx , hun. how's this grid treating you? or are you finished?
Another 40 to go but I'm too tired after the good lunch so I'll go for a walk and come back later

hi Sprite and all
hi lyn :) xxx
my son is 16 today! legal age in the netherlands for buying and consuming alcohol :( I hope we taught him common sense... and I hope he remembers at the right moments :)
gosh, that is so young. They were talking here about raising the drinking age from 18 as they believe it effects the still growing brain
but Happy Birthday to him!!
I couldn't agree more. I would say 21 was a good age. Well, we explained all about the growing brain etc to Tim... and he says he is going to be sensible about it. We will make sure he gets the right example, lol.
thank you!
I guess in-la4 is always with a dash.
I was surprised it didn't take

So sorry, doing this on an iPad for the first and maybe the last time
i play babble on my asus tablet and it works amazing
i can scroll the grid, list and chog all seperatly
Maybe my fingers are too big
Ok I'll practice more
lol, takes time to get used to it hoilly,i am 6 foot 2 and 250 pounds and have bear paws for hands
Via, you do not lose respect by not finishing a grid. Many of us don't finish them.
and your browser choice is critical for proper babble enjoyment on a tablet
Hera
Ha ha, I tried that one too, Holly
Oh god did it again, going to find a real computer now
i have the native browser for babble and other flash games,i have google for office, surfing and downloadable games, and opera ofr music, and all video applications including netflix, hulu, you tube and wathing movies via a patch cord to my hadtv
b/c of my time constraints... i just care about getting nbt/nbs in as few words as possible..once i have that....any extra fine by me
That is true Molly... but I didn't even have a fake word of the day! Total babble fail day. :P
However, you did miss a rather fascinating conversation involving Soodle, pig races and nude/semi-nude sunbathing on a trampoline.
:'(
wait a minute... sunbathing while bouncing?
She claims she just lays out on the thing, but I have my suspicions.
hi all
help with the wa7/9 pls
howdy peri
howdy peri. you are almost in the grid today, but not quite.
i clued the 9 about 20 mins ago peri
:)
if I yell your name and draw it out: "peeee-ri!"

got the wa7, ty, is the wa9 an alt spelling?
we have a big one coming in this afternoon carlee;)) thank god
time to take roommate to airport - bbl
No, it's an add on. Think of what you buy that protects your product for one year.
yes it is, got the wa9 ty
the person getting the wa7
isn't is usually spelled with a y at the end?
ok
that makes more sense, crossy
:)
the ground smells so nice with that smattering of rain... hmmmmmm
75 left, don't think this grid is as easy as some have said
i hope the rain just pounds down all afternoon here
<---Makes very little sense

hel with corner i pls think it is an in7 but I do not see it
it is all good,we get by with a lil help from our babble friends
my right foot is still hurting :(
so is crossy,s:((
corner I - it is an in 7
What's wrong with your foot, Peri?
I fell off of a chair while adjusting an AC vent about a week and a half ago. went to doctor this past Monday. he did not see any fractures
it is particularly difficult going up and down steps
help with the in7 pls
I wonder if you tore soft tissue in it. That can be painful and takes a while to heal.
When someone leaves you something in their will, you in7 it.
ty for in7
he sad I had a contusion. rats, how long will it take. I even bought a cane (for $5 at goodwill) to keep the pressure off of that foot
thank goodness I did not break or twist my ankle
well I am going to get dressed and go to the market to pick up cat food and a few other things, bbl
Morning all
Good morning, Babblers!
Hi Judy
Hi All!!
good morning all
Hi Hego
Hi Teach
missed all of you.
Hi Teach
I assume you are well rested and well fed.
yup!! lol Molly
okay, I couldn't find the al 5, and noticed I was humming the song of the same name and was able to see it. weird.
ah, the subconscious.
Hokie, you Guides are at work. If you start thinking about six numbers, go play them.
Always listen to the voices in your head.
Even the ones that say "Lob hand grenades into your loud neighbor's yard?"
Okay, probably not those voices.
Rats
: )
I suppose it would be okay to lob rats into your neighbor's yard. They don't (usually) explode.
only if they're not looking.
The voices in my head want me to sing Drugstore
Hi Harp
Drugstore Cowboy...
Oh, that makes more sense
i am comfortable with my innder voicesas they often have good ideas
Crossy!!
I find my inner voices to be quite brilliant.
Mine are rather eccentric
and amusing
Sing, Jane, Sing!
The only problem is, they don't want to shut up when I'm trying to go to sleep.
Oh crap. Off to the PB I go.
ty judi
There is a holiday weekend keg in the PB, Judi.
*dons funnel hat and bellies up to the kegger"
How do I love Judi? Let me count the ways.
me too
Y'know what we need in the PB? A hookah.
OMG, I thought she said hooker.
Well, she did, in Jersey speak.
no, New York speak.
No no, hego!
Brooklyn most likely.
LOL, I was just talking about the voices in my head on the tennis court yesterday.
halfway - time to go pack the car and get on our way to a weekend of good music and funnel cakes
drool, funnel cakes
have fun Teach.
the hookah makes me think of that annoying Dish network commercial about The Hoppah.
I take it back. What we need in the PB is a middle-eastern communal smoking device.
oh, okay
* does keg stand just to show off *
Fun in the PB
*one-handed* !!
<-----very impressed
somebody was as**** at the Wh*** apparently.
Hi Kap
((hego)) nice to see you:))
hello everybody.
Crossy, I missed you!
howdy kap:))
aww,shucks...
Judi, it would be interesting to see the "stoned version" of certain people here. For instance, would all the gourmet food lovers suddenly bust into a conversation about how awesome Cheetos are?
what's new in Babylon?
Crossy, ty for all of your help in GOT.
I would think you were all making fun of me.
if you can stagger in at 3 am and eat process cheese sliced wrapped chicken weiners, then yer in the zone molly
Cool. I'd totally smoke some Cheetos.
np at all hego
Your efforts are appreciated, Cross.
*Makes notes: Kap gets paraoind when she's stoned.
Pass the Cheetos.
...in my hookah.
Yes I do. Or did.
hey man....pass that over...
Used to be a lotta hookahs on 8th avenue. Happy hookahs.
I remember that 8th Ave
We actually have a hookah bar in town. Anything goes in a college town.
crossy is pro-thc for medical usage
Xaviera Hollander, if I recall.
during my chemo i was perscribed marinol tablet to help with appetite
Did it help, Crossy?
marinol?
thc tablets
it did indeed
I am prescribed Damnitol.
Munchies!
as opposed to fuckitol kap?
<--plugs ears
From the makers of "Screwitol" and "Enditol".
but not too hard.
but in many cases thc can be the better choice compared to test tube chemicals
I once got yelled at for using that word i n th chog so I chose a less potent version
see some of those arthritis med side effects on the t.v ads?? omfg
I know- cymbalta. Imagine the day with less chronic arthritis pain. You may be dead.
pass the bong over anytime rather than that
But pain free.
<----Is willing to try it for her arthritis.
it works hego
I'll bet Crossy.
i have bursitis in my knees
So I would be pain free, but paranoid?
Yes. Cymbalta has some very scarey side affects. Surprised it got approved by the FDA with all those potential horrors.
Ellen Bursitis- good actress.
there is no parinoia feeling when it is legal meds kap
tried Cymbalta Kap. Had less pain, but could not stay awake.
good morning all
I'm not sure about that.
Hi Nan

I have a new PT appointment this week. I am seeing a PT named Rob. I am picturing an very buff cabana boy.
I'm munchie anyway.
Hope so Kap.
I imagine it being a more thrilling experience than with the PT named Camille.

I think 10 years is pretty long! it is a quarter of my life!

I lived in B-more are 10 months. lived in the cincinnati area for 15 years.

I don't have it medusa
i'll look for it though
ok
Morning, all! Is this a friendly grid or a sneaky grid?
It's a friendly but sneaky grid. Hi Jan.
ir6/18 please
ir + not fake
thank you
I can't find the third ar 5/10 either
tricky little one eh?
My third is simple plural.
Hmm, I like ice cold beer. I like liquor too sometimes, but I'm not a hard core drinker.
oh.. i've entered them incorrectly
thanks vicuna
I hate it when there are three in a row
You're welcome.
**sneaks hugs to vi**
I'm confused about "entered them incorrectly". Don't you use the bulk add and paste? That enters them automatically.
Hello, stidmama!
hey all, up to 63 and stuck getting NBT. the i in the upper left corner and the E under the H please?
no.. I usually print the list and hand write them in
i cant do that at the moment!
in7 - get the rich uncle's money
ah, thanks vi -- something I never do!
ea4 - nobleman (and pl)
None of my uncles is rich. But I like them all enough not to wish them a speedy death anyway! =)
and thanks again! :-) how goes the print-making these days?
I am looking forward to being unemployed and having a few sunny days to get out my silk painting equipment... probably in July, from the look of the long-range forecasts
I've just had two big shows, so I got several new ones made. I'm on a kick of putting little villages in fantastical places: one is a town on the back of a giant sea turtle, and one is a city under a steam-powered airship.
that sounds fun! are there pics online yet?
Do you get the long weekend as a foretaste of summer?
Yep... hang on...
Here: http://nydamprints.com/aspidochelone.h tml and here: http://nydamprints.com/skycity.html
stidmama i am in the ranks of the semi-retired now and it is perfect! enough work to keep me occupied and out of my beloveds hair 2-3 times a week, but lots of new free time to dive back into hobbies etc
not likely warm or sunny though... hoping to get some straightenin done this weekend -- had a migraine most of the week so even today I am going pretty slow.
sounds wonderful, dear cross! It's like my schedule, only I really would like to have work nearly every day... we could use the money.
Sounds perfect, crosshair. Stidmama, no fun on the migraine. No fun on the housework either, except that much as I hate housework, I do like doing my projects better when I've cleared the decks first.
vi, they are PERFECT! I so love your work.
Thanks! *beaming* I had a lot of fun with them.
I can't even find my decks at the moment!!! the dining room table where I have my paper cutting materials is surrounded by boxes, the office where I do my painting is filled with boxes... *sigh* and my silk materials are somewhere in the storage locker.
love your work vicuna,i think you would excell at recreating old world style maps
Yeah, I'm sorry to have to say it sounds like time to find those decks. =P
my goal is to get my clothes sorted out this weekend, put the winter gear away and find the cool weather gear; sweep all the floors and mop; if it's dry enough weed the garden a little; and maybe get out to see the Avengers for an early show.
cartography styles from the early 1800,s and before
then once school is out I can shovel the boxes outside for sorting and have space to work again.
Thanks, crosshair. I do love old maps. But I wouldn't want to recreate them... I'd want to do something different with them! The towns on those two pieces are inspired by the little city views in the Nuremberg Chronicle.
Sounds like a plan, stidmama. (Albeit an exhausting one.) My big chore for the weekend is the garden. Puttering about in the garden isn't a chore, but clearing out a veritable Amazonian jungle of weeds so I can plant veggies... that'll be a chore.
i do not mean exactly,i mean fantasy or artistc maps from your own mind
vi!
oe
:-) that's where having teens is (almost) worth it. Get their friends in your debt for rides or a movie, and they will work for an hour or so, shaming your own kids into working... and the competition means it gets done even faster!
hey TO!
aloha, flosey!
Hello, TO! How have you been?
good morning everyone, did it again
fine, and you? hi stid!
you would also do well as a fantasy/sf map ilistrator for books:)
Hello, flosey. "oe" to you, too. =D
lol, thanks Vicuna
hello flo
Yes, I've done a number of maps and illustrations, but mostly just for my own books.
howdy flosey
which books, I believe, should be in every school library... they are marvelous!
vi, have alink?
*beaming even more* Aww, stidmama, you're lovely. As a matter of fact, I spent the morning at the school library and it's always very ego-enhancing to see that there's a steady demand for my books there. But 99.9999% of school libraries don't have them, of course.
what kind of books vic,and what genre?
A link to what, TO? Here's the link to "everything" Vicuna. You can take it from there! http://nydamprints.com/index.ht ml
That's because we just don't have the word out yet... we'll get there. I would love to have a classroom of my own, and invite you out for an author visit/workshop... but first I need the classroom
Go there, click on the "books" icon, and you'll get your answer, crossy.
will do
You need a classroom and I need an airplane! But boy would I love to! =)
ahh books for young children, very nice:)
the Otherworld series is a young adult series, cross. Great for middle-level readers who like fantasy!
Actually a range. (as stidmama beat me to saying.)
giving a child the gift of books if giving them the world:)
is
Many worlds, really! =)
indeed
My Grant loved reading the Otherworld books so much we are slowly buying the hardcovers as they come available. :-)
sorry, have to run happy babbling all
later TO, have a wonderful afternoon!
i love the otherworld cover art
Aww, so soon, TO? We barely got to say hello. Have a good afternoon!
Thanks, crosshair. I did all the art, design, etc.
I am down to 44 and want to get up and get dressed. Have some heavy-duty tasks today and shouldn't put them off any longer. (((many hugs))) vi, when we are rich, we'll host storytelling/book making workshops on both coasts and in the middle... like ping does in Houston!
((stidmama))
have a good babbling day, all! *poof*
You're on, stidmama. It'll be a blast! Farewell!

Yay! I'm so glad to see that clue work. I've used it before and gotten "I don't know who that is".
does it go that far back? I can't remember his era
At least twenty plus years. My older two are in their early thirties and they watched him as kids.
The thing is, he has maintained an "image" in the news and as far as I know, is internationally known. So it's not "one of those American things" as is usually stated here.
wow, thanks Molly (had to take a call)
his movie was out in the 1980s. his show on cbs late 80s/early 90s
he recently had a hbo show.. pe6's playhouse. targeted for adults.and it was a riot
My kids were glued to the set every Saturday when his show was on and they watched his movie eighty gabillion times.
eighty gabillion is an awful lot of times, Molly

malibu and coke?
back to find my last 25
Malibu is (GAK) coconut (GAK) flavored rum
ok, never heard of it
hi Peri
plain rum and coke with a twist of lime is just fine with me
<----agrees with Molly
hi there hego, how are you?
Good, been away, good to be back.
I know you were in Italy, were you also somewhere else, hego?
but no rum here
Got back, three days later had to go to NC.
Husbands uncle had a stroke.
to visit family?
oh, sorry to hear that
He's doing okay, though.
good to hear
He's 84, but has a great family.
anyone have a clue for the to8?
howdy my friends:) back for a few more words
hi Crossy
tumbleweeds roll by...a cricket chirp echos in the distance....
ahh howdy hego:))
huh?
to8...you need to be to8 of other people's shortcomings
nothing,just crossy being strange
nm, got it.
ty molly
we are to8 of Crossy, always. lol
well ty:)
Alas, we live in the world of instant gratification
as is my mrs
yukka yukka
ahh molly, that was so 8 seconds ago:)
must keep up
oh toothpick update: foot has swollen on bottom.going to clinic in hour to get it dug out of my foot
I really, really don't like those 4G commercials with the neighbors in the yard on their 4G phones. Really.
it is annoying is it not?
why does Crossy have a toothpick in his foot?
pe633?
though mrs and i love the allstate insurance commercials with that mayhem fella
Has no one told him where to use them?
i stepped on it hego
The foot probably needs to be lanced in order for someone to get a good grip on the toothpick. I'm sure it will feel much better when it's all taken care of.
pe6/33...Mr. Herman, comic
thought so. don't keep them on the floor anymore.
some kind soul dumped it on the carpet, where it lodged like a spear in the carpet nap awaiting crossy
ty
Poor Crossy. : (
i hope so molly
me too
We need a group foot healing ceremony here. Peri is having foot troubles too.
brb
"lancing and a stich or 2 cannot hurt more than it does now at any rate
poor peri:((
Just make sure they give you a healthy shot of lidocaine before they lance it.
one of our u.k babblers who name escapes me atm also injured her foot
well, they are going to numb it with something, thats for d***d sure
they will
Some doctors are evil and think you should just suck it up for something like that. I always suggest people DEMAND.
i will suck it upif he sucks it up while i do the same to him
never heard of such a thing. that's awful
they have to be reminded sometimes that we are not breathing pieces of meat
I had a doctor try to relocate my son's badly dislocated foot before the morphine drip kicked in. He got an earful from me about that.
i know all about patient transferrance but remember we feel pain
silly fool
poor boy:(
As it turned out, when the orthopedist got there, he knocked my son out to relocate it. So much for the knowledge of the Doogie Houser ER doctor.
you probably knew the second you saw the first doc,he was not the right one
what scares me now as i get older are docs that look like they shave once a month.had a doc look at something last month,he came in and i said "hello son" is you dad coming to see me soon?"
very funny
only to find out he graduated university at 17 and wrote 3 books on my problem lol
some are very smart, but nothing replaces experince.
he just keeps adding degrees to keep himself busy diring coffee breaks
I agree Hego. Book smart is never as good as experience.
indeed hego
Hello all...it's FRIDAY!!
Hi Jilli
Anyone have the last pe5?
nm
Just started hego...
ty anyway jill
hego.... it's like the pe6/33 .... just omit an early vowel
*Clinks glasses with Jilly*
*cheers with Molly*
what are you drinking Molls?
LOL peri, it's anything one has on Friday!!
Beer, Peri. It's already been made fun of here, but that is my drink of choice.
I am not a big drinker cause alcohol does not affect me like it did when I was younger. (or is it effect)
I like a gin and tonic or vodka and tonic but I don't get a buzz like I used to, just get tired
Love beer and G&Ts...
i don't drink but my supermarket sells pina colada, margarita and some other cocktail flavored jello
i passed and simply got the artificially flavored cherry and lime jellos
i'm old-fashioned.
I love to read your profile, mab.
thanks. i just smashed together a couple of lines of dialogue from movies, but they more or less fit me
always makes me chuckle, mab
Man, wish I'd known about alchohol flavored jellos...would have been a treat for my colonoscopy prep last weekend!
colonoscopy; oh boy.
i've been putting that off for years
Well, I am a nurse in that department...figured since I was 4 years past my 50 year old screening that I should get er done!
80% of colon cancers can be caught through screenings.... *nudges mab*
my best friend, reg, says 'get 'er done.' cute.
FW, now off to play morewords
I loved the CARS movie..Tater said it...
i will do.
this summer
bya peri!
Do you live in a small or large city mab?
accck! inlaws in da grid!! run!
i'm stranded in a dumpy small town in western new england.
no james herriot shire for you mab?
ahh new england sorry
actually, i recently learned i have an outrageously large amount of arsenic in my body
cool,a poison woman:)
one of my british neighbors here is a james herriot nut.
LOL...our son lives in Millville...small burg in eastern Mass..
crossy has met some in the past before elegant
Did you grow up near a mining town?
no
even with my beloved, there are some days that you best check for any open cuts or sores before wading in:)
this is a new thing. a few years ago i was filled with methyl mercury, which is why i was tested for heavy metals again recently
good lord!! check yer plumbing in the house mab!
i think it's the house. i think the house is poisonous
and stop eating thermometers
hell house of new england!!..mwahahaha
i'm probably a goner. or maybe i'll develop a super power. either way
now a super power would be nice
I believe much of our ground, especially near industrial or mining areas, are full of heavy metals
MAB the MAGNIFICENT!!
it's an old house that's been converted into apartments. every year, it seems, a new insect invades. first year wasps, then moths, then tiny black beetles, etc.
i am sure you are correct jilly.we recently(10 years ago) had our old shipyard properties gutted and everything toxic removed..it was frightening what was buried in the ground
the mercury was almost certainly from eating too much fish.
Sounds like Biblical plagues. Be on the lookout for the four horsemen.
it cost tens of millions for the clean up,but we passed the epa testing and are happy with the outcome
where do you catch yer fish mab??
those tins of white tuna shouldn't even be on the shelves. and of course, no fresh tuna, swordfish, etc
if it is in iffy area, remove and dispose of all belly meat keeping only the sides of the fillets
yes, i feel a little like job sometimes
crossy does not eat canned fish
well all have those decades mab
mine was 2000-2010
one just must avoid large fish that have live in our sadly polluted oceans for many years before being murdered for our benefit. every knows that now, but years ago i hadn't a clue
anyways, time to get this foot carved open.biab
poink!
foot carved?
my docs must think i swallow batteres
Oh no crossy...sorry about that...
He's got a half a splinter stuck in his foot.
Yep, I know...he was seeking medical advice a few days ago...both Jes and I figured it'd end up needing to be incised out...just another reminder not to go barefoot...
Well, I'm doomed then. But I only go barefoot in the house. And we don't keep our toothpicks on the floor. : D
LOL...one never knows...
Barefoot in the house was much more dangerous when my kids were small.
Legos....OUCH!! I remember it well...
They were pretty good about putting their toys away, but there was inevitably the stray Lego block that was forgotten that found my foot.
at npr.org there are images of wine and beer dried on slides and viewed through a microscope. an arizona artist...
We actually have a level 4 NIH here in our little MT town, they are presenting an art exhibit with colored pictures from the photon microscope...really pretty
interesting. these images are pretty too.
Life is quite amazing really....
And so much of that goes right over the heads of most people.
this artist, who is also a bartender, has made images of other beverages as well. coca cola is my beverage of choice.
Yep, it's nice to see science bringing that out for hte public...
also on npr: a man with asperger's has made a film about it.
Our youngest son was in a relationship with a young man with asperger's...I learned a lot.
people can be so interesting and lovely if they are allowed to be themselves
Amen Mab
conformity is over rated hugely
Unfortunatly, way too often bullied... :(
We need to be more to8/40 ..
Did you all read the story about the woman who was bullied in grade school and posted a poem about that right before her class reunion? It was very sad.
I didn't see that one ..
i didn't see that. does sound sad. i'm a bit of an outlier myself
Kids can be very cruel, and unfortunately, that hasn't changed much.
the callousness of children must be advantageous in an evolutionary way.
Just finished an unsuccessful attempt to get our local school board to add sexual preference to their anti-bullying policy :(
the last ar 5/10 plz
Wow Jilly, that is unfortunate.
plural of the second 4/4 iveesy
what? that's crazy, not to mention unbelievably insensitive. but good on you jilly
*ivesy
ar + poison ivy gives you a ***h
super power?
ty ty .. and good evening a balm 89 degrees here!
It's pretty steamy here too. But that's good because it's heating up the pool, which opens tomorrow.
molls are you african american? or am I being too literal.
89 in western ny! it's not nearly that here in new england
never this hot this early of the year mab.. im afraid to see summer:(
ok off to try to beat my brother in law in wwf..ta ta all hagn
later gator
oh for heaven's sake. romney is such a drip. that's the nice word for what he is.
wow,, finished 1...
congratulations, gem
WooT WooT WooT gemini!
tytyty
Yay gem!
What on Earth made you think I was African American?
ralph ellison quote
like i said, too literal
me, not the quote
Um, yeah. I don't think everyone who reads, likes and quotes Ellison is African American.
the quote's great
right
sometimes people on line think i'm african american....
Likewise, not everyone who feels invisible is African American. That feeling crosses race, gender and religion.
i know. i didn't mean at all to irritate
You didn't. You know I love you, Queen Mab.
aww... same here molls
does anyone know how to give a cat the third degree? pinky, the little fiend, has hidden my mailbox key.
Waterboarding ..
never!
i don't want to end up in the Hague
but then, bush, cheney, et.al didn't end up in the hague
too bad cheney didn't have his heart back then
It's "enhanced" pet care
funny.
And then, in the future when you or someone else finds the key, you can say that the waterboarding worked ..
he's such a silly, dopy cat, he probably doesn't recall what he did with it. i can relate
that too is funny, but isn't it the truth? Bush had a brutalizing affect on our culture
wow, this chog entered controversial waters!
Waterboarding- what a lovely sport.
it's pinky's fault
or torgone's... not sure
anyway, the only thing restraining me is the threat of being brought up on charges of crimes against felinity
good shabbos, kap. love your jack benny
wow, step out for a moment....quite a chat now!!
torgone started it
I probably don't want to know, but how does a cat get a hold of one's mailbox key?
it was on a coffee table and therefore became a toy
thereby, rather
at least i think that's the world courts view of things
Oh, this is a free range cat like my kids cat. They look at me funny when I don't understand why the cat is allowed on the dining room table.
i have no control over these cats.
i try to be authoritative. if cats could laugh out loud it would be pretty jolly around here
hey all, down to 44 earlier, determined to get down to at least 30 today.
One of my cats does smile mab...
hi stid! ((hugs))
however, today I purchased an ottoman at our used furniture store that used to live in the used bookstore. not one claw touches it or, or, i don't know. hi stid.
You do have scratching posts right mab?
hey jilly
I would think that cats are not fully compatible with nice furniture unless they are declawed, but I don't know a lot about cats.
my cats don't distinguish. i'm not much of a disciplinarian with them.
i once spritzed pinky and he actually flinched. i felt so cruel.
Good Afternoon!
hey red! how are you doing? weekend already?
Luckily, mine do, a have 4 of them placed around to encourage NOT to use the furniture...
well the ottoman is more of a sentimental thing. i used to sit on it a lot in the used bookstore. but it is covered in red suede.
Oh, I watergun mine from time to time...hmmm...is that waterboarding for cats?
yeah, that's what I mean by 'spritz'
Well, don't ask about my leather couch.....a few reminders they like to perch on it...
miep finds it amusing, pinky is horrified
How else do cats learn where they can and cannot be? I don't think spritzing them is cruel. It beats having their litter box feet on eating surfaces.
I am glad for weekend! I also got to observe a gopher turtle today. Made my day.
I do love cats and I think my next dog will be a cat.
gopher turtle? a burrowing critter I suppose... *runs off to look it up*
oh molls. if you'd seen pinky's little face... his eyes squinched....
They are super cool stid, and live forever.
I agree with molly, spritzing...well...its unpleasant..but fairly painless!
what is a gopher turtle like?
wow, those are AMAZING animals!!
I love turtles. They are one of my totem animals.
and very effective....
he squinted and flinched! you can tell me that wouldn't have broken your heart.
The one I saw was pretty small. drove the dog nuts.
Well, not so much...do you have kids mab?
no. i don't care much for children. it depends.
Well, similar to disciplining my kids...there are rules and consequences for breaking the...Never have swatted my four legged kids though....
LOL mab! a wise woman, you are!
Still, I rarely see them, so I was excited.
i like specific children. some of them.
is it a mammal or a reptile?
I am so glad you had that experience, red -- we don't have many turtles around here, I think it's usually too cold for them.
it's a tortoise, mab, an ancient land tortoise and one of the few that burrows
it is a turtle, with that has these digging like feet.
They grow very big. The first one I saw was in front of a nature center and huge and so still I thought it was plastic. then it moved..
cool
well, have only 50 left and dinner must be made...bbl *poof*
i like turtles as well. i love the idea of carrying one's home around on one's back. you get sleepy? you just tuck in.
They are neat creatures. I do like cats as well though.
I took some great photographs of snapping turtles mating. That is a loud and splashy affair.
oh my, molly! that would be interesting...
oh, tortoises. remember years ago in england, there was an old soldier who brought home a tortoise from gallipolli. i thnk it out lived him
tortoises are amazingly long-lived creatures. If they survive being born...
oh! met my goal -- down to 30. off to check job boards and back in a few. (((hugs))) it's sunny here, will be out in the garden later! *poof*
yes, i worry about sea turtles.
tortoises, however, make rather difficult pets due to all that earthmoving
bye!
talking too much. must take break and get grip.
nope you arent talking too much mab, I was just off checking some things. Holiday weekends make me nervous.
Work and no one being there to make things happen regularly you know.
Well, sous chef has dinner prep done...will try and finish this grid then summon head chef to poach the salmon...

Youngest son graduated from Carroll College in 2009. Marriage is a house divided...I'm a Cat, he's a Griz!
LOL
HarpJane and Smaller (who hasn't been on in forever)
We are actually originally from Michigan. We've been here almost five years.
And several babblers also have Montana ties as well! HarpJane is a friend here who got me hooked on Babble
We kind of favor the Cats, ourselves.
GO CATS!!
YAY!! (won't tell hubby..)
worked at MSU bozo, for 13 years. loved it there.
I grew up in the Gallatin until my dad moved us to California. Then spent summers at our cabin in the Gallatin Canyon.
What years Dawg?
1980-93, Jilly in student support services under student affairs
Gallatin area is gorgeous. We have awesome views where we live, but I love that area over near Livingston and Bozeman. Just couldn't afford it!
thanks for clue fw! here in michigan but originally upstate new york-asparagus sounds good
Red Dog is nice too. used to be very rustic...and crazy cowboys.
Just missed me...went there 77-80, but was in nursing so actually lived in Missoula my last year...that's where I met hubby
Where in Michigan yarn lady?
whooo hooooo Yarn Lady!!
WooT WooT WooT yarn lady!!

Yep, beautiful but totally overpriced these days!
trying to remember the head of the nursing college...Kay Chapman?
TC area?
We were from the Saginaw area.

close, tc's about 45 miles away- small town
Stats for the 4th row E?
do the only allow clown cars in the driveway lbd?
Beautiful area there, yarn lady. We used to camp up there and rent cabins up there a lot.

My dad and Mom looked at property across from what is Bridger Bowl now...but too remote in the 1950's...imagine what that'd be now!

On of the two - used to go to it a lot.

Yes, it is a VERY small world.
And even smaller with all the Babble buddies we find here!
I think it was Harrisville.
That's true, Jilly.

What brought you to MT trentsnana?
al5-10 please.....thanks
Thanks, dose - duh - finally got it

I'm all al*** in the world....
Hubby and I retired and came out here. He loves to hunt and I love the mountains. Lots of good camping, hiking, fishing. All of the things we both love.
Thanks much, dosef and Jillyjill.
I'm starting to wonder if I'll be able to stay out here, though. Our youngest, back in Michigan, is expecting her first baby in August. It's a girl!!
Yep, gotta LIVE in the good weather months!!
For sure I will be there in June for her shower, in August for her birth, and then again in November for another visit.
down to the I and the N
I don't have grandkids :'( But can only imagine it'd be a bigger draw than a mountain!
brb
What kind of crafts do you do, Yarn Lady. I guess it is probably obvious, right? Knitting and crocheting things?
congrats on grandmahood trentsnanna. it won't be too far to travel
Fire Words!
Yes, we may have to rethink this living situation. Maybe move back to Michigan, but come back out here for lots of visits. We've made some great friends out here and it would be tough to leave here - just like it was tough to leave Michigan. I just wish I could pick up the whole state and put it where Wisconsin or Ohio is. Hahaha
congrats on the upcoming grandbaby! they are wonderful to have...and send home! ♥
whoooo hooooo DR!!!
I'm actually a spinner of yarn, dye some of my own wool to spin, a little knitting of felted hats and have just added making soy candles to my inventory
Thanks, yarn lady. We have a grandson who is 13, but this is our BABY having a baby. And it's a girl, so that makes it fun, too. Our grandson comes out and visits us in the summer. Don't know how much longer he'll do that, though, now that he's a teenager!
So, it's been a long time in between babies.
hi everyone
oh I bet your grandson will be devestated if you leave montana.
Hi Jen
Wow - you do a lot of neat things, yarn lady. I just made my first quilt for this baby. It turned out pretty good. I'm proud of it and can't wait to give it to my daughter.
He does love coming out here.
We have horses, so he loves to come out and ride.
hi Jen
my son loved coming out for the summers. escape from the big city and pollution.
I may have to wait for a greatgrandchild to get a girl-I have four grandsons, the youngest out of highschool this year
he said, he even liked the work we made him do...mow lawns etc. cuz he didn't do that in San Diego.
Where are you, lb?
Now in Kalispell
what kind of horses? that's another of my loves
brb, need some tea
back and WooT WooT WooT DR!!
Oh, I LOVE, the Kalispell area. Gorgeous up there.
We have quarter horses.
My folks had a place up there in the 80's...loved going up there Dawg!
I'm trying to change my icon to a picture of me with the baby quilt I made, but it's not loading. Not sure why.
have a good night all and happy fireworks, been nice chatting, and getting acquainted (I usually just lurk or I type in the wrong place:)---quarter horses are fun, but aren't they all
nice chatting yarn lady..have a good night!
bye~~
bye trents, Jilly and all
night night, yarnlady
Kalispell has gone thru some groaning pains of late. the economy up here really sux
Not good in here in the 'Root either...
Billings area has slowed down some, but not like the rest of the country. The Bakken has helped them lately, I think.
We have so many families here with hubbies working in the oil fields...so sad to see them apart just so a job can be had...
That is true. I know a lot like that, too.
Any clues for the 8 or the 9?
Maybe stats?

the 9 is wa9/48
wa9.78 one who get the wa7
Don't have the wa7....

stats for the i in the first column
I was al5/10 for most of the day today so I as able to Babble in peace. Now I am done with the grid so here is a story of clues. Soon after I moved into my house on Leo La4/4, I developed allergies. I live in an ar4/4 where I suffer from outdoor allergies. I am allergic to everything from the la4/8 in my yard to the trees ne 4/4 my house. So I have to stay pe4/5 up in my house all day until it is safe for me to go outside.Don't know how I got allergies. I did not in7/32 allergies from my parents. Allergies make it very difficult for me to fall as6/21. When I finally do get to sl 5/12, I wake up in the middle of the night coughing. I have not sl 5/12 a full 8 hours since getting my allergies. My eyes also te 4/4 up and start burning and itching. It looks like I'm we 45/9ing most of the time, but I honestly have not we 4/9 in a long time. Unfortunately, there's nothing to he 4/5 my allergies. I have to let it run its course. My husband isn't very to8/40 of my allergies. He gets re4/4ly annoyed with me coughing all the time.Hubby makes me goto bed in a different room since he can't sl 5/12 with me constantly blowing my nose. I'm so ti 4/4d of allergies. I wish there was some special drug for sa 4/4 that would permanently get rid of them. I he 4/5 my hubby getting restless as he waits for the computer. If I do not give it to him, he will ra4/4 and rave and cause a ri4/4&start yelling at me in a nasty to 4/4. I am going to get off my re 4/4 and go watch My Name is Ea 4/4. Goodnight to all! I'll see you later.
ty min
YW
thanks for the story min, now down to 24!
Way to go stidmama!
I am glad others can benefit from my state of misery.
oh dear i am sorry . . . the allergies are re**?
nbs
20 now, and listable... (((Min))) I have suffered from various allergies all my life. NOT fun. I did get MUCH better from the respiratory ones when I discovered the many food allergies. It is possible you have something like that, and finding the food trigger would make you feel much better.
stats for the fourth row E please
Oh yes they are! Get them every single year with full force! I take 4 allergy shots a week, plus I take a pill.
i am so sorry that has to be miserable
ouch, min. *shudder* poor dear Min.
I actually don't have food allergies. I have indoor and outdoor allergies. Basically, I am allergic to any living thing that is not human. I am even allergic to my dog.
as6-21 please....thanks
nm nbt

Yummy Stid! Haven't even planted any lettuce yet. Hope to get to the garden this weekend...
Hey there, Jillyjill
elar
this lettuce was from starts, and put in the cold frame until it was warm enough. Now I can see little lettuces coming up in the garden... if the slugs don't eat them all we'll have another crop in a few weeks.
Going to be cold this weekend with snow in the mountains...hopefully won't freeze tonight!

hi stid
LOL, no, your secret is safe with me....
and everyone

planned to camp but the snow made my wimpy husband have second thoughts!
I'm on your husband's side...never have quire figured out why Montanans see the need to camp on this weekend which is so characteristically miserable weather....
*quite
we'd do it but it would be the 3rd weekend in a row when we haven't been home
GEtting old Jane?
being home is nice...
We did that in March and April to which my hubby asked if we would be able to be home for a change...
okay, going to go look at some new job postings. It's a long process... thanks for the help, ladies! *poof*

We're always afraid that if we are gone too long, our cat won't remember us.
As it is, he hides when we come back after an absence.
