Hello late again!
monkeyed the 8 and 9, yes, odd words
OOf -- a biggie and I have other plans for tomorrow.
hi jilli
finally found an 8
does the po 8-9 build from the 7?
no nan, they come before the 3 po7s I have
its a weird IN 7-8 normally spelled EN
sorry, that should read 2 po7s I have
hey all, just got in and have NBT -- trying for halfway tonight. Flosey and Jill, I wish you could have seen (and heard) Mother and Matthew playing tonight. It was such a lovely community concert!
oh well - not seeing the pos nor the in's -- 175 down so maybe I should just be happy with that!
would love to have seen/heard them stid, sorry, don't know what they play?
good job nan!
nan, do you want a clue?
Mother plays the piano, and Matthew the trumpet. It's Mother's first official time on stage as a musician!! *proud daughter look*
sure
an 'im' would make it easier
oh wonderful stid, wish I could have heard them
ty flosey

I took some video with my ipad, but unfortunately it didn't turn out very well. *sigh*
go nan go!
if there is outre5, I think there should be an inre5 -- makes as much sense as a lot of the words we get
thanks nan, got me up to 176 with that -- about 8 new words! LOL
ah - found the in 7-8
yippee nan!
an archaic variant apparently of the familiar En according to Merriam Webster
200 + down -- good night all :)
sweet dreams nan
I am past 200 too, and also heading to sleep. good night all! *poof*
hello all
I am new here, having fun so far :)
welcome asellus, glad you are enjoying babble, this is a fair sized grid
just fount the most ridiculous MI8
wtg pugs
not celebrating, it only makes 2 of the 5 8's for me
just found one mi8, and it is a bit odd
that's two more than I have
stid -- I just got back here, scrolled back a bit, and saw your bit about your mother and Matthew making music -- lovely!
anyone else getting driven batty by the phantom miscreant(s) in the grid ?
I left here to read an email which turned out to be from my lovely teacher-granddaughter. And she said her brother has just become a prof at UBC (University of British Columbia) -- whoopee! He's been a Teaching Assistant and that had expired -- he had been worried about finding a job, so now he has one! Yay!
how very nice ji......... i love it when the younger generation gets good things
yes pug and i wonder how the powers that be got to be the powers that be... surely not by using these assinine words???????
indeed, 'tis a mystery
just found the second mi8
what is mi8?
99 left and not enough interest left go go to list
a word starting with mi and contains 8 letters
have a good night all
ah gotcha
goodnight pugs
i am guessing that the information saying that there are words that are mi8 are for the Pro upgrade?
we call them as we find them asellus, but there is a list of clues that give the first 2 letters plus number of letters in the word
ah
yes, I believe (?) you must join to get them - please correct me anyone, if I'm wrong there, have been pro for so long
but players often call the bigger words as they find them - gives us something to look for
cool thanks for the info
I cannot find the in 8
you're welcome asellus, it is only $15. I believe, to join, for a lifetime membership
hi ruru
ah
you found Lickety's Clue List, asellus?
I haven't found it yet either ru
I think I have found it
nope
Hi ruru and flosey
hi jilli
in8 a plural of in7, in + give medicine or medical aid to
and rbud and welcome aselius
scroll down a bit asellus
hi jilli
the link for it is below the game under "Friends of Babble"
hi granny
ah i see it now
hello rur, rbud, flosey, jilli, and welcome asellus
asellus, the clue list is avalable at lickety's site and is not part of the membership. After two weeks of free membership, the tile stats and word stats below the grid will disappear. You need to join to keep that info on the page.
hi rose
we use the list shamelessly when all braincells and hints have failed - or when in a big hurry to get done. :)
ack ok thanks for the info :)
ahh.. got the i in the corner

hi all - can you see this
hi Kazz, yes I see you
how long are you visiting for?
I tink it's so great that you've been able to get together!
*think
me too :D It is so nice meeting in real live
and we played scrabble on a board, outside on the terrace.
nice weather, I guess?
pretty good weather. Some rain, but also sun. And it is not too hot, which I am happy about.
oh and the view! A lovely garden, then a lake, then mountains!
Sounds like here, except it's the sea, not a lake.
I've seen photos of that area in France and it is indeed beautiful.
it is amazing. To wake up to such a view, and then have breakfast looking at it... wow. And I love talking with ruby and her husband. :)
<-- sighs in contentment
hey ruby/sprite. * sigh * sometime in the future i hope to be able to join you. at the moment trying very hard not to panic. last working shift tomorrow. then the weekend off.
we are thinking of you here, rose. *holds rose close* It will work out.
no need to panic, granny
so many whatifs...i guess i know too much. wish i could forget it all, just for a few days
*wipes rose's memory selectively clean*
thnk about how many times it's very successful
thanx dear friend. good news, bathroom nearly to painting stage. himself has prepared the tiles for grouting, and the cement-plaster to bevel the edges. then only filling and sanding to do...then the painting. girls, i may actually be coming home to a completely renovated bathroom.
well I'd say that is essential, rose. You will need one. :)
hi all - rose - if it helps my Mom had a hip replacement at age 86 - followed all instructions to the T especially physio's exercises etc and was driving again within 6 weeks and said the pain relief immediately after the op was "magic"
hi ursh, a good thing to focus on
have made so many lists.last minute packing, post-op on actual day, post-op day 1, etc. have bought enough food to feed an army. * giggle *
in a few weeks you will be telling is that you don't know why you worried so much and how totally it was worth it :D
thanx urshy, as you say, the pain relief immediately post-op is awesome. i know.it's the complications of which i am very well aware that worry me. but then, i have the constitution of a mallee bull.
think of all the loving care you'll be getting too
too true, jilli. all the staff know me well. and i have already bought a huge box of choccies for my fellow workers/friends to thank them for their caring support over the last 14 months
well, complications are an exception, not a rule, rose. Try and have faith *hugs*
okay, i will. oohhh, btw. we are having a team from another church visiting us on sunday. a team of children who have been studying how to pray, and they will be available after the service. will feel a little strange for me...an elder of our church, asking kids to pray. very humbling. but i think that is where my Lord wants me to be.
from the mouth of babes...
exactly, ruby
I've run out of steam -- goodnight/day all...*poof
night jill, sleep well and dream even better
nite jilli
night, jilli. sleep well, hun
if all okay here, will amble off to check emails. see you at the flip ( latish, about 4.30 am)
bye gran
bye rose *hugs* ruby and I think of you
* poof *
I cant sleep..its 3:44 am here

Oh how nice...you finally met..you three must be having a great time

How is the currant jam coming along and who is winning at Scrabble?
we are about to go clean the currants. And we both won one game, I think, yesterday.
no, rubyb won 2 and I one. We had a lot of fun!
It all sounds perfect. The scenery, the company, the wine etc etc
it is. This visit is everything we hoped it would be, and more.
good morning all, this seems a very nice grid!
good morning my babble friends:))..omg..79f at 05;56 am here

Hi Cross, you are hotter than Florida.

I just came in from a very wet run, but you know...it is where I live.
we are about the same for high today though
humidty is when gets us here too. we have that air quality alert here.telling people with lung problems to stay inside or go somewhere cool..
I think this means some much needed rain, which is good stuff.
parts of library are air conditioned, but not the part i work in today , of course
howdy red:) running for a hobby still messes with my mind,in my last 30 years running service station i average 20 miles a day on my feet.now that i am semi-retired,i may never use the feet again,or i may get plastic feet since these ones have no more arches and cannot take a joke lol
Its good for me. I think.
lol,tbh since i have so much leg muscle from it even after all this time, the mrs and i do a lot of hiking
Also good for you. I like hiking and such with my camera, but now its too hot for it!
but no flexability, lol,i can kick down steel doors but groan to kneel to get a pencil off the floor
I must run and prepare for a horrific work day. Crosses fingers that it is better than I think...
Cross you shoud do some yoga!
lol,now there is a vision, crossy doing yoga or tai chi
talking of weather...here we have around 5 degrees celcius at 9pm...bloody cold....must be the coldest day/night in years....or I am getting old (no comment...LOL)
i can bend a steel bar,but cannot properly grip a flower stem tween my fingers:/

30c is cool where I live
i know, you guys can handle the heat,we can handle the cold so we are good for where ever we go:)

back to find more words.
it is taking way too long to get a copy of my birth certificate. dept of vital records has a new computer system but they are still behind 2 whole months. I am doing this by mail. if I knew it would take so long I would have gone downtown. I am glad I did not have to cancel any major plans.
132 left
and if I want to go downtown now, I have to apply again and pay an another fee
I had similar issues when I requested a copy of my birth certificate. I refuse to believe it takes that long to generate a document.
I spoke with a clerk in the downtown office and someone had to cancel their wedding!!!
I will just wait now.
the new computer system went into effect on April 2.
I am staying indoors again today, going to get cabin fever. might need to break out the gin.
I also find it hard to believe that a new computer system would back them up 2 months. That is just poor planning on someone's part.
Whoo hoo! It's gin Thursday!
top left i?
haha, I might just wait til the weeend
i and shiny fabric hursh
be that as it may, Molls, this is the govt we are dealing with
thank you peri

i like this word. very weird but kind of pleasant.
and hello everyone...I was babbling at 3 am ..couldnt sleep
Ha! Peri, you just reminded me of a scene in a TV show where these "serene" spa people were talking to some customers in their "quiet spa voices" and every sentence started with "Be that as it may".
Hi Annie
hi Molly..must check out your icon
what *are* these strange words? Is it the costume for the Fruit of the Loom guys? That's all I can think of...
Molly, I love it...bangorrhea
Rasta, I was fine with the first botany type definition. The second? "Another name for honesty"? I don't think so.
hi rasta
Annie, my friend and I are on a quest to get people to stop using exclamation points like overzealous teenyboppers. : D
Molly, sign me up
hi - trying to get past half before I list. making sure I have all those pt and pl
That's great, Molly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Mother Earth News drove me crazy with all their excl points.I finally couldn't take it and unsubscribed. Maybe they're better now, it was a long time ago.

Ha! Scrabble dictionary says an7 is "a period of sexual dormancy". 'Round these parts we call them "dry spells". : D
Annie --- found the an7 but can's find a definition.
It's a plural. Singularize it...
??
Y'know -- Instead of an "i," give it an "us" ending
I know, but I just gave the definition.
holly missed it, I guess

Murphy's Law
Hi Everybody. How are you on this fine day?
that is so true, Molly. I sympathize with you carlee.
first ca6 please
... don't know if it's first ... ... a really nasty disease that lots of us babblers have survived
I feel like such a whiner here lately. I'm not happy with the grids: I always want a different letter or to rearrange the grid or something! I seem to frustrate myself: today I want an H next to a T in this grid.

Hello uu
got the po 8 .. thank you sue
it has a plural, ruru

enable has never listened to a podcast apparently lol
what does the sa 9 relate to?
... two words which I never get ... the volcano (which isn't here) and the pimples (which I had in abundance as a teenager but which I never see here) ... must be very Freudian ...
enable's tech terms date to the 1980 at best, rasta

60 left but it's after midnight
am still on adrenalin rush from thi evening
really .? what happened
How did it go Glant?
and drinking left over hippocras
hippocras?
what did you do, Glant?
It all went to time, everybody seemd to enjoy themselves and I have no egg on my face LOL
I wrote and orgaised a murder mystery event for 40 people in Caerphilly Castl;e
Very good. Enjoy your spiced wine.
hippocras is medieval spiced win - yummy
glad it went well for you, glant
i have never worked so hard on anything in my life
wow, how cool, glan!!
I bet, I remember you spoke of it the other day. sounded like a lot of work.
it has taken me weeks to work out and write the murder and then turn it into 5 sworm statements and the testimony of 5 servants plus the odd IOU and love letter
Congratulations, Glantarell, for getting it done right
and then work with a designer to make the documents look vaguely medieval plus recruit 5 volunterrs and get thier costumes together
indeed, Congrats to you, Glant!!
and find people who would create medieval canapes to a pretty low budget!
i am happy - and i think we will run it monthly until spetember
all the volunteers have said thye'll do it again
the weakest performance was actually by the author
I am intrigued by medieval canapes. What did they have?
but he is 81
they had soem little fritters made mainly form cottage cheese, which had a blob of cherry sauice on top
and little tartlets with a filling which sounds weird but tasted nice - something with spinahc and raisins
and little gingerbread balls - they were a bit hard on the teeth
i would love to attend something like that Glantarell. Well done indeed
nd hippocras and almond water
and bless them - the volunteers all dressed up in medieval costume and not only delivered their c=scripts with most of the clues in them, but also came to the hall afterwatrds and served the canapes!
i am so grateful to them and the 2 castel staff who worked till 10.30 this evening
sounds like all went well for you, Glant.
how did you happen to have this enormous task, Glant?
Wow! I wish I could have been there for the evening
glan, are you Adrienne? was reading about it online . . .
and a TV company who were just supposed to film the author (they are making a documentary about him) also seemed to be filming other things - like me briefing people!
wow, Glant!
the original idea was that the author wrote it and i organsied it - all at the suggestion of an organisation called literatrue wales
yes i am adrienne = please don;t tell m my name's out there LOl
NOW WE KNOW
ok, was in article :-)
I'll never tell
anyway, the author found he was out of his depth and also had a retinal bleed so I foolishly took on the writing - which too me many many more hours than i imagined it would lol
oh, need to know where the article is now LOL
jeezomeez!
so you wrote and organised it!!!
hang on -- just closed it
um, yes - never been so stressed by anything
www.campaignseries.co.uk
but all the participants seemd happy so i am happy
assistant director came to watch (no pressure there then) but didn;t go and watch the dressed p servants telling their stories, stayed in the hall watching me
Well, you know how much work you did and how well it went ... can't let others define you
fireworks. bye for now
well done peri - and good night
yay, peri!!
ty for the link une
was curious . . . just googled murder mystery Caerphilly Castle :-)
can't imagine taking on all that responsibility!
not in original plan LOL - very much 'plan B'
:-D
it is so great when Plan B turns out to be so much better than Plan A.
indeed! :-)
2nd se6/21?
se + empathy shows con**** for others
don't hve it yet kje
tx BR
ty br
have it now - ty bR
2nd fa 6, please?
very polite word for poo
from the latin
ah -- alt. spelling
ty glan
do you spell it differently then?
It's Latin? People have been saying it's British all day.
No A in that word for me.
well, people like doctirs and pathologists use it
ordinary people don;t
but it always has an A :-)
1st pr6?
without the 2nd vowel
what the pastor does on sunday
give a sermon
I guess it all depends on where you live. Doctors here don't use the word with an A in it.
pr7?
does not have an a in the states (as one who uses it)... but yes, in GB it does
it is latin for 'sediments, dregs' apparently
pr7 - prefix meaning before + treatment for a broken arm
ty again, br
ty kje
first po7?
yw
when you move, kje, will you have flowers in your hair?
po7 - the thing peas grow in + something that sounds like a female himone]
hormano
or even hormone - hippocras is obviously working LOL
po + Spanish nap...si****
Or pea po* and the rest
ty
And now I will go visit the PB
when I move, I will be house poor, br
ah, that spanish stuff that isn;t even on the horizin of us brits - i never see the spanish words in the grids
there is some hippocras in there for you Molly
I see too much spanish in the grid!
but then, I see lots of spanish around me
and some more in my glass - slautations
nonetheless, flowers would be nice
well i think it is your second langiage oin the US
Drink up Glant
flowers are always nice
wil be too poor for flowers.... maybe a weed or two from the park near my homeless shelter
oh, kje - just give it all upand come live with me
na6/21?
well, without a job, would be even poorer there, glant! lol
n + land measurement in pl or pt
i could set you to work writing murder mysteries?
or do you already have special skills LOL
http://tinyurl.com/78o7ddm
ah, the pt, ty
I have skills, but not transportable to UK easily
no reciprocity
must go and put supper on - brb
oh i love that song BR
however, new zealand I have full reciprocity... so that is always an option
reciprocity?
so you have to take an exam?
oh New Zealand - I love it there
I was looing up all the SF songs the other day, br... there are lots
like Britain 25 years in the past LOL
what do you do kje?
not usually as easy as an exam
geriatrician
for example, trained physicians coming here must repeat a residency to get a license in the US
ok, in English - does this mean you are a doctior of geriatric patients?
yes, glant
I don't think we have specialists in that field
but i wish we did
are you getting jerked around in dallas?
my 77 year old father was taken into hospital last year
yes, the UK does, not sure what name though, but yes, have met them at geri conferences
he had pretty advanced alzheimers
they put him on a genral ward and dinlt chekc on him
sorry, glant
maybe johns hopkins now will provide health coverage?
one of th eother patients actually helped him after buzzing the nurses for 30 minutes hadn;t raised a response after my father had fallen out of bed
he tried to climb over the bedrails
oh wow, glant, that is horrible
this happened 3 nights on the run and my mother discharged him because she felt he'd get better treatment at home
JH always provides health coverage
and she is 77
That's awful Glant
what the heck is a sa 8?
indeed, glant, home is always best if the family can do it
it was - they are just not set up for 'difficult' patients 0- he was just completely disorientated by being in a strange place with nobody he knew
I perhaps misunderstood. I thought you choose dallas because the other finalist did not provided health coverage
I'm sorry to hear that Glant. My Dad had Alzheimer's too and it requires special care.
nope, never said that
yes, delirium is common in a strange place, glant - glad your mother was able to take him home
that is terrible Glant1 My mother is in a wonderful place especially designed for dementia patients. When she used to get up and wander around at night, the nurses put a special chair and a radio just for her beside their station and she would go there instead of into others' rooms
it does and my mother provided it but she was way out of her depth and got very little support - he died last July and I have to say ot was a reliief - i think he gave up
so sorry to hear, glant
Bugs, my Dad got care like that too and I was very grateful for it.
special AD units are becoming more common, always best to have staff trained to deal with them properly
caring for thise with demetia is not something we do well in this country
perhaps becuse all healthcare is free
I am younger that 77 and could not deal with that.
I could never have done what my mother did - he was incontinent and also went wandering
it is not done well in most countries, glant
I am experiencing symptoms of dementia and pray to die.
best I have seen is in some of the sacndinavian countries
i took him on a 5 hour drive and he opended the car door, grabbed the gearstick, put the sun visors upmand down
oh no BR
I think I have early signs too - but they may be stress symptoms
Care for those with Alzheimer's on a fixed or median income in this country is horrible.
usually, it is a good rule of thumb that if you think you have dementia, you likely don't
my father would never play word games or do crosswords, play scrabble or otherwise exercise his brain but his mother had alzheiners too and so does his sister - who is 93
ha ha ha kje
BR you must be terribly frightened. Has it been confirmed or are you like the rest of us and just loosing cells faster because of stress.
here's hoping
I am not frightened .... I have been a waste of resources for a long time .... lets be done with it
i can remember the date and the presidents name but i have fiubd myself looking at the microwave and wondering what to do
Glant, my Dad was brilliant, did word puzzles all the time and he still got Alzheimer's. I'm not sure I believe that "brain exercise" makes a difference.
'ello 'ello..
the thing it took form my dad was the ability to speak - and he was a chatterbox so it hot him very hard
((BR)) I'm sorry you feel that way.
Me too BR
BR, I think you area the best at giving clues and you are so fast at it. I cannot find myself agreeing with you. Absolutely NOONE is a waste of resources. You have a right to be here and would be terribly missed.
I should not of spoken ... be well ... I am off
keep well yourslef BR

ty Molly. I had missed that one.
Dang, you are a good cluer, Molly. Thanks much.
How are you tonight, Peach?
Doing OK. Went to the Dentist this afternoon.....just the really fun stuff.
Oh yeah, I have an expensive dentist visit in my forecast. Fortunately, he has reasonable prices and has never hurt me.
That is good. Mine is really nice....I've been with him since he started practice many years ago.
I have been going to my dentist, and his Dad, since I was 5. : D
I told mine that he couldn't retire until I die.
I feel the same way. If anything happens to my dentist, I will start practicing self-dentistry like the guy in Ca4away.
Yep.
I have three left, help please for the AN 7?
pl, stid.
No, stid. I was looking at the wrong one.

T's toasted
Just wanted to say thanks for the clue...
help with the RE 5/14 and 6/24 combo (second 5/14) please
re 6 is almost the word for playtime in elementary school.
the re6 is the singular of that
thnx bugsaw - would never have monkeyed that
I couldn't do it either, just passed on my hint
ty bugsaw. To think I would not see the petite pause.
hey g/mere.
Hi bugsaw. Looks like summer down here. Gray skies wtih touches of blue.
I wish summer would make it this far north! Victoria is doing well but not us
Your summer cannot be far behind.
I sure hope so. I need some sunshine and fresh air
out in BC last summer and even in southern BC there was still lots of snow beginning of July
but it was beautiful and we loved our visit - my nephew got married there
I wish we had known you were sort of close wvteach. Maybe a Babble meet could have been organized
I washed rugs today. Hoping to get as much freshness into the house as possible. Now that it is summer, a Bubble meet or Babble meet would be delightful!
we were very near cybernan - but she was off on a trip
but a meet would have been fun
oh too bad teach. That is a beautiful area. My father grew up in Kelowna so we used to go there in the summer when I was a kid
We were in Manning Park for the wedding and there for 5 days
Did you play with the gophers in Manning Park? My boys loved doing that when they were little.
His new wife is from Vancouver and they now live there - he goes to the University for a PhD in music (composing and conducting)
Didn't see any gophers there actually
Well then you must come back another time all the way to the coast and we will have a west coast meet for sure. I guess the gophers are gone now but the scenery will always be magnificent
I certainly hope to get back there. Went down the coast to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington and loved the whole trip out west
stidgemere it would be fun to have another meeting in the summer but I might have to do some fancy dancing with finances to make it
that is where the stid family is teach. I wish we had known
on the Olympic peninsula?
yup. we had our west coast meet there and visited stidgemere's home right on the water. it was lovely
love the beaches - we have beautiful hills here in WV - but no sandy lakes or beaches - grew up on Lake Michigan and miss beaches
jillibus and I came from Vancouver Island and mccurl and Pinikula came up from Oregon and jmc came all the way from the east coast. There were others too but I have to look at the pictures
we were there last summer in the end of July
stayed in Forks for a week
Maybe we could come to Vancouver Island and make it closer to your home. We travel this time.
oh for Pete's sake. my husband and I were on a camping holiday last July and we went down the west coast of Wash. We were in Forks!
pencil!
That would be so much fun stidgemere! I would be happy to host it. I have a small house but a big yard and lots of nice places to stay for people who don't want to camp in the back.
LOL Gwen.
what a small world this is - hope to meet up with all of you some time - need to go off and get ready for tomorrow - will be teaching a class of kids in a summer enrichment class
sorry to but in, but just to let you know that the lower Van Island is buzzing with Babblers...as you know! Could be quite an event!
bye teach. have fun tomorrow
hey saanich. Please come up this way for a Babble meet. You and I have not met yet but I wud love to get together. I only know of you, Jilli and Flosey
where are you?
Courtenay Comox
ooooh, that easy, nice drive and an Aunt I can stay with! Is this a plan-in-progress or has a date been set?
Just starting the conversation saanich. Would love to see you again!! I enjoy the Comox area so much. There are great fossil areas and a good museum.
the idea for me to host it just came to me during this visit saanich. I have 3 more days of work and then I am retired so I will have time to organize stuff if people want to do it
I agree, would be great to have another hug!
please come. Just not next week...
late July or August would give us time to organize, plan and invite
Let's talk this up and come up with a firm plan for a July or August couple of days.
agreed on that
Agreed here, too saanich and bugs.
this is exciting! my husband will finally find out who I talk to when I am ignoring him
lurking and listening - sounds awesome!
It IS exciting! A surprise babble meet, just like that!
I will set up an email address that I won't mind posting.
I have been thinking of doing a grand Babble tour after I retire...
please come uusue. I know it is a long way and then we live on an island so there are ferry fares too but it is definately worth the visit.
Sounds like a plan. Then we can tell flosey and jilli. and a cioule more whive here but are lurkers
The Babble wheels are churning and the plan is afoot. Hooray!!
how long until retirement? our place is always open to any Babblers
I would love to - not sure it will work out this summer though (somehow I have soooo many things to do!!!)
I am retiring at the end of next week, bugs!! 6/30 is my last day.
(really 6/28 as we are on a 4-day week for the summer)
well, in 3 more days I will be retired and will have nothing to do but wait for your arrival. :)
well, there you go then :-)
6/26 for me. we can toast each other long distance
Going to ea** out of here now and watch tv. I like the idea of retirement as being a time one actually can wait and not have to jump to. We'll have to have a ban on watches during our visit.
works for me!
night, gmere!
see you email bugs. thanks for doing that.
I am so ready to get on the plans that I can't find my last word. Please help the second st 5,10
