WTG FLOSEY!!!!! NIGHT, DEAR, AND SLEEP WELL
oops!!!!!!! sorry flosey. i know your not deaf
i'm gonna ready it now
poor Don. he has been taking such good care of me, and even though mother mac is in respite, we/he have been fielding phone calls, paying her bills etc. not much of a break
Did flosey finish? I didn't see her say so.
yes, jilli, said she was off to bed
Well, me too...*repoof, lol
What does respite mean in this situation?
no, wait, it's my silly brain
wandered off, back again for last 16
(waiting for brownies to bake, last night with the stepgrands, they're up late)
ruru, mother mac goes into a place where they are supposed to take care of her and all her needs, to take the onus off our shoulders. it means we are not to have any contact with her for the time she is there. it's so we can recharge our batteries, rest, and kick back a bit
Never mind Rose...sounds like she needed a bit of ticking off. And in years to come, it will be referred to a that little episode that you had whilst you were sick.
Afternoon all...is everyone OK in the States, they were talking about the gigantic storm that was blowing accross
thanx lyn. yeah they probably will.
ah.. like a care facility
didn't amount to much for us, about 10 or 15 min. of rain, but that's way more than we've had for weeks, so yay!
lots of wind, too
yes, mate. but this time......we just haven't been left alone. it's been like a nagging toothache the whole 3 weeks.
thats good Rosebud - they were saying 32m people were in its path - sounded dire
guess it's supposed to be worse out east, not sure if it is or not.
hey, btw, took half dose of pain meds this arvo, so far everything ok. i'm gonna beat this yet!!! lol
just peeked at the news, looks like a bit of a mess...seems like you guys get a lot of this weather lately

he was only 62!!!!! for goodness sake!
and they only diagnosed it a month ago
that's only a few years older than me. liver cancer, one of the fastest to grow
I know - nasty
hopefully he had not much pain. it can be one of the more painful forms of cancer
Goodness - Wikipedia is updated already - was looking to see how old his kids were

later, g'rose, hope you have some peace and quiet! (((hugs)))
we get the boys every summer for a while, since dau and bf live with us.

you're welcome
hello everyone
(((((Annie)))))) good morning
Hi ((Mom)) we had quite a storm last night
I am so glad to see you here. I heard that there was an apartment building in Brooklyn that was struck by lightning and caught fire. I was praying you were all right
stats for the left T please
I saw that is was a nasty storm
HI Saddy th 4/6
I was thinking about you too, Annie. Glad all is well with you.
Yes, it was a gay ole time. The wind was howling and the rain came down like a monsoon.
hello Molly
Som ehow the storm missed us in Central CT, but New Haven got rocked
Hi Molly
glad you are safe Bichon
aghhh Thanks MOM...
Bichon, happy you were spared...my daughter got the storm...was rocky
you're welcome Saddy
Good, glad it missed you, Bich.
Thanks Molly
The rest of the US might be having a drought, but we've gotten rain lately
Annie I have answered your email and it is chock full of good news
Mom, I am very happy to re4 that. Will open it later, cannot do it on BabbleExpert.
I was scrolling through the chat and saw Atalante popped in for a second to say that Ankhorite (sp) had passed away suddenly. For those who remember her
That is fine Annie. I hadn't realize I was that late in answering your letter
Looks like the city of Elmira got whalloped.
Oh, I am sorry to hear that about Ankhorite. She was he4 when I started playing Babble.
there and a city in PA both had serious damage
offering a prayer that there were no fatalities.
I remember her also
I hope Scrabbs and peri are okay. Doesnt Nono live there also?
morning all!
hi sue
morning sue
sorry to hear about nasty storms - seems to be a lot of that this summer!
hi annie and wv!
nbs and nbt for me, want to get a little work done before visiting our ailing friend (he is unfortunately doing quite poorly)
hello
(((ruby)))
lurked a while this morning, but found this grid very difficult, only found 32 words
but it looks like some friends are here!
had two storms yesterday - one early at 5 am just loud and woke us all up - and then yesterday evening dumped 3/4 inch in half hour and kept raining most of evening so ended with flash flood warnings

hi mom and ruby!
hello ruby
(((Ruby))) ah
my monkeys were a bit insomniac so found a bunch of really strange words not long after the flip
we were dry for so long but now grass isd looking more green than brown
hi teach, glad youre okay
we are lucky here. It's hot and dry and the grass is brown, but no storms and there are still flowers
I didn't know about that apartment house in bBrooklyn! What a scary thing to have happened!
I hate to scoot .... but I have to. (((Hugs)))) to all of you, my dear friends
bye mom
bye bye Ruby
((Mom)) have a great Friday
I'm actually liking the heat after such a cold and wet spring; I must be getting old.....lol
(((Annie))) thanks, you too
ruby, cold and wet stinks, IMHO
we had about 10 weeks of it in April, May and part of June and without central heat it was nasty
Does the fireplace heat the upstairs as well, ruby?
suffer is an appropriate summer phantom
it helps a little but we were sleeping under pile of blankets like street people
Good morning, all.
hi judi
hi ruby, no central heating in your place. Brrr.
hi judi
hi Judi! (I am going to be in and out now, working on astronomy test problems, please don't think I am being rude if I don't answer right away!)

we had storms here last night but no power outages and no damage that I am aware of
mostly north of us, I think Peri
Peri, Ata was here earlier with sad news. She said Babble player Ankhorite had passed away. I told Ata you had been thinking about her recently. It made her smile. : )
hope all is well in CT, that is where my sister is going for the weekend
sorry to hear that, Molls
Wow, haven't seen Ata in forever. Sorry to hear about Ankhorite.
Actually, it was last night. I think Ata popped in again this morning too.

Hi Babblers.
Hi Scrabs

hey all, later teach (and yay)
... Stidmama ... if you're still here could you tell me if there is another university in Denver besides university of Colorado? ...
hey dose, probably -- hold on
... a school that would have a women's lacrosse team?
looks like several -- I have never been to colorado so probably not the best person to ask.
There one at Boulder I think??
why ?
boulder isn't denver...
there. finally down to 20 and NBT
... I'm just finishing teaching remedial math at summer school ... i've got a kid who came up to me at the end of day yesterday and said she needed an 80% in Grade 11 (junior year) University stream math to get a scholarship and was there anything she could do to get her mark up
... I can sprinkle magic pixie dust on anything ... but raising a 55 to an 80 is getting close to morally reprehensible ...
... but ending a kid's chances at getting ahead is also not pleasant ...
oh -- yes, that is really rough.
... need to figure out just how much i can do
here is a website that might help you find what you are looking for... there are several college-level divisions
http://www.laxpower.com/common/college _women.php
are you giving grades based on the mean of all scores earned, or on the progress the student made in the session?
In other words, did she make progress and learn what you intended to teach even if she didn't do well at first?
... As far as being a rigourous academic school ... how far along the continuum from Priceton School of Advanced Sciences to Fred's Pizza and School of Hair Design is are we
I don't know what the policies are for grading up where you are
... Standard practice is mean of scores given ... ... pixie dust includes ... if you're exam score is better (i.e. if you can demonstrate that you've learned something) then I can make everything else disappear
... and I can round up ... and up ... and up
I struggle with thinking about grading personal progress vs. reflecting where a student is relative to the goals for that session.
you're ... ? ... your exam
What sort of effort has the student made? Do you think there is evidence that the student can perform at a low-B level in that math?
LOL -- so what is her most recent exam score? Or was that the 55 you gave?
... my experience is there is no "objective" method of giving a meaningful grade ... yes ... I'll judge effort ... and she's reaching panic mode ... and now effort is skyrocketing
And has the student considered trying for a scholarship at a community college (where there is likely to be more support for learning in the first two years anyway) instead of the big university?
how much time is left for the session?
... if she had put in as much effort in the first half as she put in the last two days she wouldn' have a problem ... my task is to figure out if she has learned that
... Monday .. Tuesday ... Wednesday
yep. I really understand that!
.... oh I know what I can do
... these are mostly pretty helpless students ... I can say look at exaple 1 and 5 and 8 ... the exam questions are just like that
for example, this community college has a good reputation... http://www.aacc.edu/
... If she was going to a community college ... she'd stay up here
wow... sounds like she needs a study-skills course more than a math class if she is at that level! How is her reading comprehension in general? There may be more going on than just having missed basic math principles.
But if she goes to a 4-year in the States (with or without a scholarship) she is going to really struggle. Particularly at a big school like Denver.
... We don't have athletic scholarships in Canada ... as far as I recall ... lot's of phys ed and kinesiology students from here especially the hockey players get the university by being scouted by US schools
... yeah she desperately needs to learn how to learn ...
... that's what I was trying to teach even more than the math but I don't believe I was particularly successful ...
Then the best thing might be to accurately reflect her actual performance, so that she gets the help she needs. She'll hate it, of course, but promoting students who really aren't ready for the next step doesn't seem kind to me.
... yeah ...
Has she already graduated from high school?
... i'm just trying to figure out how i tell mommy and daddy that the money they spent on a tutor has gone down the drain ...
... I don't think so ...
... she is in what you call Junior year ...
... but she has been offered a provisional scholarship based on getting through next year at a particular level
Then she would have another chance to learn what she needs to know. It is NOT too late for her to get the help she needs, and the money on the tutor isn't wasted (she DID learn some things, right?) -- just she needs still more assistance. Seems that the parents should be talking to the school and asking for evaluation for additional support.
... Grade 11 math is a mandatory requirement for graduation ... ... so she must show it on her transcript ... and it's mark is presently below the standard she needs
Provisional is nice -- do ALL classes have to be B or above, or just the average of all classes (for the scholarship)
... her problem is "I'll work two days a month rather than every day"
That's okay, she can retake grade 11 math, and will do better the next time.
Time management and organization skill issues can suggest learning disabilities/ADD
They can also just indicate immaturity
... I think she is stuck with something like everything above B- ... she has the credit ... but I'll bet C- is above the level she obtained during the year
All of which can be mitigated through additional support
... she just has never had anything really count before
... and she has now bumped into something that realy matters for the first time
... my hope is she is learning that continual effort is required for the important stuff ... not just extreme burst every now and then
I would still check on whether there is something else holding her back; my son denied he had any issues at all (and still denies) until he started to fail in school. And now that he is an adult, he is having to face up to his responsibility to seek help with organization, learning and other skill deficits.
I think you are right on target with the continual learning piece.
... I'll leave that to her parents ... ... and to her regular school ... ... I've just got her for a two week remedial programme ... and she has done enough to get by ... ... but that's all she has done in regular school before so she's got a mark in the 50's when she needs 75-80
My younger son met that wall this past year as a sophomore -- I don't think he will put an entire semester's work off until the last three weeks again!
Just getting by is going to be an insufficient strategy for college.
... yup ... that's my speech for Monday's end of class
Wow. It's a "sticky wicket" as my friend/neighbor used to say to me.
I will have to make speeches like that someday... when I get a classroom of my own!
... it's even better when you notice that someone has listened and changed their behaviour ... ... it gets to be frustrating when you say the same thing day after day
yes -- and sometimes they don't change then, but they do later (I know this from tutoring -- sometimes it takes a while for it to stick)
yes, too much like parenting...
... hey ... I get to laugh this summer ... the kid is working at some day school type camp situation and she's having to deal with younger kids 6-13 for the whole day ... ... and I'm just laughing and laughing at the complaints about the idiot kids
*grin* they just walk into those things, don't they?
... hee hee hee
... and she's having to deal with idiot adults too ... the boss and the parents ... ... ... I just nod and frown sincerely
okay, down to 17. I have a few things to do around the house (have to work inside mostly) -- like laundry and sorting through boxes. I want to make a visible dent in just one corner of the living room.
oh yes! I remember being at that stage, actually, when I was certain that adults were just too stupid and they were always in my way.
I hope you'll have a lovely weekend, dose!
... same for you
... happy Days!!
Mitt Romney is not popular over here. What a pillock. I have a good anglo saxon ex-pression for him that I am too polite to say except the second word is 'off'!!
what'd he do now Dee?
... we all have our bad days ... maybe yesterday was just a bad day for him ...
He said London wasnt ready for the Olympics - thats sour grapes as far as I am concerned!!
Hmm...I must have missed something.
... perhaps it's like JFK in Warsaw ... his translator ... the one who writes the speeches in English for a foreign audience doesn't really know the language
(JFK said something in Polish which his translator thought meant one thing but turned out to be a really gross insult)
he's in England Dose.
yeah I know
... but he speaks American
... it's a different language from English
Um, okay.
Well, not that different.
... Cultural sensivities are truly different
I have no problem at all communicating in England.
Unless we talk about fried potatos
... while I agree that what he said was thoroughly insensitive and shouldn't have been said ... he likely was thinking that he was speaking to one group ... and found out he was speaking to everyone ... and they were all going to be insulted in the exteme
(Just passing through and can't help pointing out that Romney's not exactly sensitive in American English, either. Okay, gone again, now...)
If the Brits are unhappy with Romney, don't vote for him.
... and now like a deer caught in the headlights ... he's trying to back out ... and hope everyone will forget he said it]
then fries are chips and chips are crisps.
YAY! Vic
... and underwear is a vest .... and a vest is a waistcoat
... but it's more than just the words
lol
I understand what you mean.
hideous grid. yuk!
... oh the words seem to come eventually ...
bit of a struggle in spots.
the contrarian
.. i'm sure if i listed I'll get the last 10 in a few minutes ... but I am staring at the screen too much just now
me BR?
makes your eyes go wonky.
... they've been wonky for too many years now ...
i'm used to it
Awww......
hi folks
re 6/ pls
Hi Sweety
... afternoon
... here's the prize for doing some good work ...
If you're nice I'll give you a re6
or you might get one for returning a lost object
ty hego
... or bringing in the bad guy dead or alive
yw Bichon
good one Dose
... I'm doing this at the library ... where I get to take out the DVDs for "Have Gun Will Travel' ... ... it just came to mind
i loved that show!
It was very intellectual for it's time.
... I just did the first season ... Gene Rodenberry was one of the lead writers ... ... you see every guest star who ever appeared on Star Trek
sounds fun
did not know it was GeneR
... and a young Charles Bronson ... and people who went on to have their own show ... ... and the theme music is really like the Mission Impossible theme ... it was writen by the same guy
have you enjoyed the programs?
... there was one guest who had lived through the civil was appearing in an episode about life after the war ... ... it was weird ...
... very much ... I was never allowed to watch the show as a kid ... it was "too violent" ...
weird?
I loved it.
... the opennign is one of my most vivid childhood memories ... i
me too
he had the card with the chess knight
I remember the song.
... certainly ... here is a person ... who was admittedly just a young child at the time ... ... talking about life after the American Civil War ... she learned it by being there ... not from a high school history class
I may rent them.
... ... it was the gun pointing right out at the screen that impressed me
Hi again all, in the nursing home with my friend
... hello uusue
hi Sue
Hi dos and hego!
Tough time here, he is not doing at all well
sorry
... unfortunate ... is it health? ... or is it not fitting in to the company? ...
Bad cancer
... ooh ... ... truly sorry ...
very sad.
He's still remembering when they told him maybe a year, now his chart says 6-8 weeks but he doesn't know yet
they wrote that on a chart?
No one can predict that Sue.
In his doctor's notes, apparently
... My guess is he knows ... he doesn't need the chart ... ... my uncle did ... my dad did ... he knows ... he's just not telling you ... and he won't
and usually the best practitioners refuse to guess!
You're right Dose, you can't keep that from patients.
Yes, he was just saying he doesn't think he has long
so sad
It's pancreatic cancer and has progressed extremely fast
so sorry, sue -- know it means a lot for you to be there . . .
hi Une
hi, hego :-)
Thanks, une, he really does appreciate our company, Frank has been going to his radiation treatments with him
must go . Try to have a good day All.
wow, kudos on being such good friends . . . rough times
Bye, hego, good to see you!
bye, hego
Une, that is one adorable puppy!
he was precious!! soooo happy he's been adopted by a very loving family :-)
Me too. You do wonderful work with those animals.
it's a gift to ME -- every dog and every driver and every transport coordinator I've met has been so very kind and goodhearted
am helping with transport of deaf male shepherd tomorrow -- he's going from east tennessee all the way to a deaf dog sanctuary in california . . . AND the last chunk of transport (Arizona to Calif) is being donated by a volunteer pilot!!
You must be tempted (even if briefly) to adopt a bunch of them yourself.
Oh, that's really mice. Who knew there was a deaf dog sanctuary!
often . . . already have 3 rescue girls of my own . . . but man oh man, there are bunches of irresistible sweethearts out there needing a home! :-)
I'll bet - we have three rescues too, a dog and two cats.
cool! :-)
and i'm really bad about pouncing on people who mention they might be looking to adopt a pet . . . last week it was the roofer and a checkout guy at the grocery LOL!!
Ok, I am off for a while, back later for my last 9. Take care!
byeee :-)
finally a puzzle i finished!
My dog became deaf about 6 months ago; a real challenge
all 3 of our cats are rescue kitties and my son has summer job at shelter

I'm actually applauding the tv :)
I don't mind doing a trip like that with the right partner but would be perfectly fine doing it by myself too. It will be fun to have Frank along.
nice, Katie! Sorry I will miss it - I do usually enjoy the opening cermonies.
and it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
Kiribati is the only country that falls in all four hemispheres.
Is it anywhere near the East Pole?
(sorry, inside joke) I actually had not realized that. And hi, crossy!
How can something have 4 hemispheres?
You have to slice it two different ways.
hmm, ok , I guess.
And of course the division between the Northern and Southern hemispheres is determined by the axis of the Earth's rotation, whie the division between the Eastern and Western is arbitrary.
making my head hurt now, off to have a nice nap
sweet dreams, uncover (somehow I have that effect on people)
Hello crossy, uusue and uncover (if not napping)
been lurking, half way done...
hi Jilly! I'm done so can clue if you would like.

Hello stidmama! How are you doing?Welcome to the puzzle
Congratulations stidmama on finishing early! Hooray for U!
thanks Min! Hello! hope your week was acceptably nice? Or did you get hit with all that bad weather today?
Stidmama, just read your profile. Any update on your son's teacher? I am so glad that he is okay. Why was he missing?
We did not have bad weather to 5/16. We had it yesterday
oops. *sits in PB*
Nothing other than he was found. I don't know if he is back to work or not, and no one seems to know what happened.
Me too stidmama! We can hang out & eat your chocolates!
Just completed the puzzle. Are you eating chocolates? Why not meringues?
Congratulations stidgmere on your fireworks! Hooray for U
Hard puzzle for so few words, I thought, Minver.
hello Mother and YAY
I am waiting for someone to give a clue for my last word. I do not want to ask since it is my final word. Will finish later
LOL I always have choclits, you know, but yes, I can open the meringues now too!
Time to play some duets and then fix dinner. I'll start the potatoes now. What clue do you need?
my last word was the EY 6
my last word was fe 5, 20.
Now stidgmere can join us in the Penalty Box & we can all commiserate over how ha 4/6 the puzzle was.
enjoy the duets, Mother
Oh, sorry. Didn't even notice the ha** was a grid word.
Bye stidgmere! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log maybe
Adios, minver.
the PB is going to need some more chaises and a few extra cabana helpers. *signals to favorite cabana boy to bring some iced tea*
a bientot, Mother

Hi crosshair! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
Howdy Minver and cross...watching the Olympic openings, and being mildly not so entertained, as I always forget its mostly theatre, not sport!
me too red!
Hello redturtlehe4/6! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
Hi Good Enough! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
trying to finish...dog trying to be in lap...:(
Maybe this will help you finish the puzzle redturtlehead....
For a small grid, it was not too ha 4/6 to do. I'm saving my last word so he 4/5 is a story of clues for to 5/16 for you to re 4/5. Hubby thinks I should get an aw 5/20 for being the sloppiest hoarder. He says that I have things in every inch of the office. My husband wishes that I would go through my desk and dresser dr 6/33s and throw out all my junk. He thinks the office is a ha6/39 because of the mess on the floor. He has been trying to pu 4/6 me to get rid of some things. Hubby thinks that it would be su4/6r cool if I got rid of some things. If I do he will give me a re6/33. If it we4/8 up to husband he would rent a dumpster and throw everything out. However, I will not let my husband sw4/10 me to get rid of things I want to keep. Dr 4/5! My fe4/7 wants to take the computer aw 4/10 from me.I will go ah5/14 and let him use laptop. I have a he4/6ache anyway and need to go lie down.BBL
and since i am tired of fighting for babblets in this grid,i give you one more tidbit of the day and wish you all a good night...
Goodbye crosshair! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.

gn in..poink!\
thanks min. that got me to halfway!
You're welcome Good Enough. So glad that my story helped
OK, I may be a spoil sport, but I'm not really fan of these opening ceremonies. at all.
they're okay but beijing was much more impressive IMHO
im a huge olympics geek but imwith you red.
but as i told my husband i have stilled teared up a few times...but thats me!
hi again all! Just back from marching in our own parade! (Kishwaukee Fest - I know you never heard of it!)
hi there sue
hi, GE!
Opening ceremonies may not be the best but i am sitting in a quiet house with a glass of wine and the breeze coming in the back door...ahhh, bliss.
and I am relaxing with a nice cold beer, and the weather is, for once, fantastic!
cheers sue!
:-)
Hello uusue2! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
OMG! Can't believe it! I have been looking for my last word since 2:20 this morning and it just jumped right out at me!
I am finished! I have fireworks! ad6/24 was my final word.
Story already posted in profile, but I'm here to clue as well
YAY Minveryork
Hello Bugsaw! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
I so much wanted 3rd row A to be an I so I could do wizard.
doing well. Had a lazy day watching Olympics and ironing. How are you feeling today
yay min! (sorry, had to reboot)
hi UUsue
hi, bugs!
Good evening, can U get a clue for fa20 please?
Spenser the fa*** queene
(some alternate spelling thereof)
ty
I did not have a lazy day, but I wish I did.I went on field trip with students to a local museum. Then I came home worked on a powerpoint. I have to work on it all weekend.
fa 5/20 word sounds like what Tinker Bell is Marc Freeman
so sorry Min. I forgot you don't get the summer off.
Hi Marc Freeman! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
ah, yes, powerpoints - have made many dozens in my day...
will you be paid for the powerpoint presentation tho? that is always good
That is by choice so no need to be sorry. Always do summer school no matter what.I don't really like it this year though
ok, I am off to check something out, may be back later! otherwise see you all tomorrow!
Ugh Min, power point is not my favorite. Good luck with your presentation.
Spending HOURS working on it, but not getting paid for it.I really have never done one before, so it's taking me longer,=
I am learning how to use what they think will replace powerpoint. Called Prezzi
Hello MollyL! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
Thanks MollyL
I am sure it will go well Min
yeah
PowerPoint is pretty simple, but it is very time consuming.I think it is tedious trying to get pictures in the right format.
Prezzi is somewhat better than Power Point. I just find them both very dry ways of presenting information.
I'm okay Min. How are you doing these days?
My PowerPoint is going to be dry and boring since I do not know how to do the fancy word movements in PowerPoint.
but better than straight lecture don't you think Molly? What wud you prefer if you were in the audience?
depends on your audience Minveryork. Older audiences are not keen on lots of motion and movement on screen. We don't find obvious transitions boring. Don't over think this!
Actually, I was supposed to do it with the students, but did not have time w/all the other requirements they had of us
The summer program I taught this summer was all for show
There was no real teaching going on and kids did not learn
I always prefer a straight lecture. Power Point has become as overdone as the old overhead presentations.
That's too bad Min. Must be frustrating for you as an educator.
I use the power point as my notes to remember what was said.
Yes,very frustrating. The district that I work in is so asinine.
Thank Molly. I had to give a straight lecture once and when people said they liked it, I thot they were kidding
I hope this is my one and only PowerPoint I ever have to do
Don't worry Min. People don't expect excellence, especially for your first one
ive never done pp. guess i wont learn now since bugs says something new is coming soon
Thanks Bugsaw, but not everybody knows that it is my first
something new is ALWAYS coming in this day and age. I gave up and retired LOL
Administrators also wanted us to do photostory, but I never did that one before too. Too bad my co-teachers could not step it up to help out. I basically did almost everything this summer
always new and im always a bit behind
I think a straight lecture, done well, beats anything with visual aids.
I am sorry Min. It is always harder when you are supposed to be working as a group and others are not willing to step up.
That
That is true. So many people coast on the hard work of others.
GE, what a nice picture in your icon.
the worst are the ones who want to do a totally different topic that was not assigned.
thanks! me and DH in Olympic National Park last summer
So this is how asinine the district is. They expected us to do like a hundred and one million things, but they gave us hardly any supplies. Also wanted us to emphasize the use of technology, but the only available printer was in the office which the secretaries needed. They provided 10 lap tops, but 4 of them were broken. The classrooms had only 1 working computer.I used so much of my own ink and paper because we had to print pictures of what the students did this summer. Again, I HATE my district!
25 left, is there a list?
Damn Min, that's pretty bad.
Okay,I am done venting about my job. Thanks for listening
Lickety is up
Lickety's list is up and running redturtlehead. I listed also.
Ok I am going to be up watching the parade of nations. They could have done this earlier and avoided all that singing and dancing...
GE, you two are a cute couple. : )
I really should be thankful to have a job with the economy the way it is.Speaking of which, husband FINALLY got a job
the parade is the best part red. It takes forever to get to the lighting of the torch and, while it was impressive, I am not sure it was that great
ooh, husband having a job shud make some choices easier!good news
Good news Min! I know you have been anxious about that. I hope it goes well for him.
Well, I shouldn't speak too soon. He does not start job for another 2 weeks & anything can happen in those 2 weeks.
Then he has to get through their training program for him to keep the job. So who knows! We'll have to wait and see
I feel like I ahve done nothing but talk about myself which is really selfish of me.I usually do not like to talk about me
I should not really complain, but really that opening thing was pretty disjointed.
sometimes you need to lean on us since you are such an important part of Babblers feeling good too
Since nobody is asking for clues, I am going to hit the sack.
Goodnite to my fellow babblers! Thanks for listening to me.
I thot so so red. Celebrating a hospital was kind of odd and the modern life thing was just weird
haad
oops
and I was so quick to type it in!
I did not get it. the olympic ceremonies, I always forget though, they never seem to focus on sport...
Night Min, sleep well.
he 4, 9?
the openings are supposed to be about the host country.
means to chop wood red
Oh bugger, I thought I had typed that one in.
I know they are but at least they could be about The Isles sports...
Much beter plan red!
I did like the part with the symphony and th comedian...
me too. I think that was the most entertaining. I also wondered how they made sparks rain down from the rings. They cudn't have been real or the firemarshalls wud be having heart attacks. The queen was a surprise
I also liked to see the Chaos deaf and hearing kids choir...
the rings were neat. It was just the trying to drag us through all decades...
Wait! Must get my flag and plant it on the hill! Where is that stupid flag....
Champ is such a joiner. : )
Oooh...the guy on the screen now looks like Seal...
Don't know why I'm watching. Kinda like a train wreck...can't look away.
That and summer TV is a snooze fest.
i went to get food at czech and they were only on moldova when i returned! oy.
We need to be "America" and get our stuff over with sooner!
lol agreed
Those dorky dresses with the faces on them are a nightmare.
agreed again!
Commercial. I'm out. Have a good one all...back tomorrow!
I hope our Olympic athletes are not boorish and posturing.

Are there Olympic events for boorish and posturing? I think I know someone who should compete. : D
* I am not touching that one*
Yes, you being polite. And me being...not so much.
I know.. I always try to not be offensive..:D
A gentleman to the core.
I don't remember which Olympics it was.. but the American athletes were just horrible.. taunting, rude, I was saddened to be an American. I think this is an event that should bring countries together and not the other way around
I don't remember that, but I agree. These events are about camaraderie.
i think my bottle of wine is going to run out before this ceremony is over. zzzzzz
That's why I don't watch GE. I find them a bit on the boring side.

how are you peach?
wow! that's amazingly rapid progress, grannyrose -- GO YOU!!!
Doing OK, stid...and you?
Good for you, Rose.
I am doing pretty well. Each day I have twelve things I really want to do. Each day I get to about three (or the same proportion). So I am making progress, but still lounging around a bit. :-)
i'm sure you don't know this guy, buddy franklin, he's a football player(aussie rules). on his twitter page he has posted a photo of......DEACON!!!!!!!
Good, hon. Keep it up....just make sure you have enough rest time.
I got some laundry done today, and that felt good. But the washing machine is struggling, so each load takes at least three times longer than it used to.
who is deacon?
sorry for my ignorance.
stiddy don't push yourself( says she who is the mistress of pushing herself). please take things at a reasonable pace
stiddy, he is my first grandchild, now 4 years old. reason i changed from rmcc to grannyrose
I am being as reasonable as I can -- I didn't let myself work in the yard today for example, because Grant was away all day -- I need backup in case my hip does its thing when I am outside.
OOH! that is quite a really cool thing, then, grannyrose! How did mr franklin get your grandson's pic?
I finished a while ago, can clue if anyone needs.
Fireworks. Thanks for all the help. Going to rest a bit. See y'all at the flip.
YAY peach! see you later
my son is an ardent fan of his, and he took deacon to one of his training sessions, and was allowed to have deacon's photo taken with buddy
Oh, congrats, stid!
