finally found the al4 vera...christ, my eyes have not been any better or worse!
we had roofs replaced due to the hail storn in Oct 2010 and work was done last summer - all summer - my immediate neighbor threw a fit when she couldn't have "her roof" done "her way"...stirred up a tizzy..and not the hot air balloon either..we stopped speaking for over a year until a few weeks ago..
"Stir Up a Tizzy" was the first hot air balloon I had the pleasure/trauma of riding

they are flat roofs with iso-plastic stuff...they were completely stripped and redone...she stepped through and made a whole in my ceiling when it wasn't even a day into the project...

love thunderstorms :) the only day I had too hot to handle was the first day on the AT... was 106 + humidity ( so felt about 115) with my pack on my back..climbing 1600 ft up in under a mile... that was too hot

But it's more about being able to watch the kids grow. Very little of that as a sub unless I manage to hook a teacher into making me their first call every time (did that with a couple, actually)
well, the good thing was that every day counted toward retirement, and that is HUGE when you are ready to retire
by early afternoon, I would retire almost everyday
That would be nice, aloyisius -- doesn't count for retirement here. But it's "something" I guess, and hopefully there will be a long-term position or two this year. Some of my friends have worked 5 or 6 weeks in a row for the same teacher.

I started to keep a list of weird words and then realized i was recompiling a doctionary and gave it up. i've learned several new "words" since i started playing but at my age I'd have to notice a word 20 times before it inscribes itself in my brain.
I let the monkeys take over... taking a break when I hit "the wall" usually helps me, too, as I see another bunch that I missed previously when I go look again...
Plus, there is the "cheat sheet" put up by Lickety splitYou can get lots of clues: click on the tiny green link at the bottom for Lickety's Babble Clues Lickety gives you the first two letters of each word, plus how many letters in the word, plus the word's point value The point value sometimes helps you figure out if you need a word with a high-scoring letter in it, and things like that
i try to get at least 50% before i go to lickety, though

I think the olympics were much more interesting when no professionals were allowed and the games were encouraging the young ones. The proposal for the golf is for pro's to participate -- top 15 on the world rating list then limited to 2 per country after that --- it will just be another international golf tournament -- nothing special

Like everything else the Olympics have become a commercial enterprise (one that doesn't make any money). The tickets are so expensive that most people in the host country can't afford to attend -- they just foot the overrun bill. End of rant ;)

half of us couldn't even get tickets nan, it was like a lottery, because so money companies who have sponsored the olymics got tickets and then put them into competitions which we either didn't win or didn't want their products anyway so didn't enter their competitions so that is why there are so many empty seat...plus london businesses have doubled their prices and they are very expensive as it is

I've been asked to come back and chair a department (completely unrelated to my own) for a year while they search for a permanent chair - the present chair suddenly announced her departure and the dean wants someone with administrative experience
