going to make coffee, be back soon
Back.
Here's to coffee. God knows how we would make it through the morning without it. : )
I have tried. It didn't work.
I am so spoiled that if I get up and realize I forgot to set the timer (and my coffee isn't ready when I hit the kitchen) I just stand by the coffeemaker and wait, impatiently.
Aren't we lucky that we can be spoiled?
There are very few ways in which I can be spoiled. I take it where I can get it.
I look forward to my morning coffee and Babble. Such simple pleasures.

Hello Judi!

Hello Dahling!
Stats please for the second Y? I have ya 4/7
and it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
Yl4. Babblet that appears every now and then.
In the Roman Empire, going blonde wasn’t exactly a fashion statement. At the time, light-colored hair was associated with the barbarian women of Gaul and Germany who often ended up as slaves in brothels. Consequently, Roman law required all prostitutes to dye their hair blonde in order to distinguish themselves from “proper,†dark-maned ladies.
Ty Judi!
Oh crap. Time to redye my hair again.
Good day to all. I wanted to find over a 100 words before joining the chat. Well, Crossy, I am very proper with my dark brown hair.
Interesting, Crossy. I now realize that the mini-series "Rome" that aired on HBO a few years ago was historically inaccurate. No blondes on the brothels.
lol howdy scwabby
Hi Scrabs! How is Tucker?
ok,back for more fun alter.am off to the egg farm for some fresh cackle-berries..poink
Tucker needs to poop. Bunnies get what is called GI stasis--their gut slows down--and they can get quite ill from it. He is active and I fed him lots of parsley and cilantro this morning. The abscess is healing.
Bye Crossy! {{hugs}}
Cackleberries?
Go Tucker, Go!
I am glad the abscess is healing. How are you holding up?
I am anxious about him, he is one of my babies.
I know. {{hugs}} Let me know if I can help in any way.
I just want to get home to monitor him and feed him some more.
I wish I could sit with him for you. I am sending good healing prayers to both of you.
But I am too honest to call in "Sick"
You have a bunny, right?
Yes, I do. Stormtrooper.
Yes, an ally of the Jedi Knights. I remember the name now. Do you know about GI stasis? It is a critical illness in bunnies, so if Stormtrooper is ever lethargic, not eating, and not pooping--> know what to do.
hello, 168 this AM
Hello Ruby!
Go Ruby go!
What causes it, Scrabbs?
Well, his nickname is "Storm-Pooper", so I will definitely know if he stops doing that.
Stress, illness, insufficient fiber in diet. Really, all bunnies need to eat is hay and grass. Some pellets are not healthy and some bunnies are allowed to be pellet-addicts. And they don't need sugary treats.
Morning friends
Hello Mr. Bob!
And bunnies are cecal digesters so they can get altered bacteria in the cecum when things are not moving along.
Hi Bob
storm pooper, I love that!
And that is today's lesson in rabbit nutrition and GI physiology
is yoghurt, the ultimate cure, any good for them?
I am assuming it's good for dogs.....

Sorry. Dammit.
No, they need hydration and lots of fiber.

Got it. Ty.
I was thinking those were more rodent related. Maybe not.
I'm probably wrong
Totally in the dark over here...need more coffee!
me5/12 exists but its female form doesn't in this grid
female form like the painter but with a diff vowel
I looked up peccary and it's a hoofed mammal
Actually it is a birth control device related to the diaphragm! (the pe7, that is.)
Clue for the J words please?
but not the peccary hah
je4 and 5 ballet moves
Fast plane with an extra vowel at the end
The paccary is sort of pig-like. Cuter than wild boars (at least in pictures.)
And a pe7 is used to relieve uterine or urethral prolapse too.
wild boards are not cute! they live in the cliffs above us and destroy people gardens and are UGLY!
I've always thought it was a specific type of suppository
boars*
Slap me with a cod, Judi. I have Babble Blindness syndrome.
Ok. I got pe 7/40.
There are wild boars in France? I thought you guys didn't have any wild animals, Ruby.
they even serve them in restaurants, there are so many.
Do they have to wear a tie to get in?
and the baby ones are called "marcasins" and have a nasty, gamey taste
I was going to say...
yes, they put the tie around their tusks
vets here hate them because they often gore hunters' dogs
(they also hate the hunters)
Hahahaha, Car. Wild boars are nasty patrons.
Well, if you can't beat 'em, eat 'em. Time for another cup of coffee. BBL. *POOF*
Their manners are atrocious!
hahah judi
And I bet they slobber all over.
my wedding dinner in Paris in 1972 included wild boar marinated in red wine :-)
bonjour une
Hi Une! Did you enjoy it?
salut!
very romantic, married in Paris!
(taking a brief break from vacuuming! )
Good for you! vacuuming is overrated!
A batch of nitwit hunters imported them to the US - supposedly they would just be on game farms, but confining wild boars is impossible. So there are now several state and federal parks that have major boar control problems, and in parts of the southwest they actualy root their way through roads! So far they haven't made it this far north, but I'll bet they're working on it!
married at La Mairie in St. Cloud, then wedding dinner in the Marais :-)
car, if you could see how much doghair was piling up! LOL
Hi Helensgirlkid!
We have dog tumbleweeds here too...
yes, car, the marinated boar was very tasty :-)
LOL!!!
I didn't know that about boars in the US. Is that the origin of the wild pigs in Georgia?
Yes, and Tennessee, and Texas, and . . . well, they don't recognize boundaries.
aren't there wild boars in the everglades? haven't I heard about pythons eating them (along with gators and deer)
I just petted my puppy and I'm breaking out in hives!
There are wild boars here in New York state.
Uh, oh, Ruby, why?
I thought they all taught at SUNY-Binghamton
i figured they were pretty much everywhere now . . .
Why Ruby?!?!?
don't know, he must have been in a plant of some sort
happily, I keep adrenalin in the fridge if it gets any worse
Oh no! Puppy bath time!
ohnooo, so sorry, ruby
I hadn't realized they'd made it that far Scrabbler - but they were well into the Appalachians, so they probably just follow them up.
I can't imagine
folks with sensitivity to poison ivy can get it from petting an animal that's brushed against it
but he was just in the garden
sorry, ruby . . .
I am now itching in sympathy.
see you later, going to take a benadryl
Stats please for the i?
Wouldn't it be handy if poison ivy had a tell-tale smell, like skunk?
it4 -- several on a list
I just 2 siblings with terrible poison ivy dermatitis
i don't need a smell - i recognize it immediately -- UGH!!!
*just saw
Gak! TY! Was not looking in the right direction!
:-)
I was thinking of the animal that brushed it and brought it home - you'd know right away to wash it.
aahhh, true, helen

Bye Une!

You had it right, I just thought there ought to be a related word that was in the grid - haven't decided what it would mean yet.
your word makes sense to me..."I cooked the chicken rotissely.

Hi Aloy

Oh good lord! My desk caddy just fell off the back of my desk! Pens, paperclips, etc...everywhere under there!
how annoying!
je4/9, je5/20 - dance moves
nope, jmc.. hubby's province as he ordered the ding dong thing and "doesn't think that is the problem"... on the other hand, he is beginning to concede I might be right.. hi there Scrabs.. sorry you are also having router problems, car.ee.. what a pain in the butinsky
i put a board of some kind behind my desk(s) so that is less likely to happen since it is such a nuisance to pick them up
ty helen
Grr, my 1030 appt just arrived and claims transportation issues. Oh, well. I will catch up.
So the caddy is also my light. It has a tiny crack now at the base and will not stand up straight...thus continually tipping the caddy back over. Ugh.
Thankfully, Zack had just come into the kitchen, so I sent him under the desk to fetch all the items.
Good boy.

no,not all ia m sorry but a large portion
it was a wild storm
for instance, here in Melbourne, Fl we have been pounded all day with lighning and tons of rain. We are in the right quadrant and are really getting hammered.
nothing like that in Europe
you take care nancy
melbourne FLA is named for crossy, right?
during Andrew? is that a weather event, or are my ears burning? hello :)
got to work ok but may have to use a canoe to get back home.
no, it was a killer hurricane
early 90's
yep, it'll be a couple of days off work then back to the norm. I know Nancy, I'm looking forward to that. At least I'm about 20 miles inland... I live in that nameless area between Mobile and New Orleans.
We are really named for our sister city, Melbourne, Australia.
it may be nameless, but you probably have great food!
back for the rest, hi all
I know, I'm just being silly. It's odd how they give hurricanes human names, I think.
and all of you are named after me and my family:)))
I thought you were a phantom{{sprite}}
we had the name first
yeah, true, andrew. You are an animal, not a hurricane ;)
well, Crossy we are in good company then
lol true crossy
*hugs ruby and crossy and andrew*
I'm not sure if I consented to that, Sprite! Nice to see you :)
*waves to all present here*
and NANCY is named for me!
lol andrew! And vice versa.

what's your middle name, nancy?
hi NANCY - yeah, named after ruby!
say what Ruby?
crossy! That is so great.

just curious, mine is ellen (dull)
i told you ruby we have a warship here sunk in the river called the HMS Nancy? the american sand her out from under us

Well, nice to know you Nancy Ellen

Ruby, I have been curious for a while: did you move to France from an English-speaking country, or are you simply very good at English?
ty Nancy Joanne!!! stay safe in the storm
if you call the US an English-speaking country, yes
oh ruby, I dreamed of you and Burt last night! I dreamed that we were participating in some event on the internet and we won 400 euro and we decided to buy me a ticket so I could come and visit again :D

will do, crossy, right away!
nice, sprite!
good stuff sprite
I have a nephew in London named Andrew
oh, well good for you! Every since moving myself, I have a great respect for anybody who can make a life for themselves in a foreign country. It's not easy!
ah, well Andrew isn't really my name, just a pseudonym, really!
I love it here; it's a small village and the people are exceptionally nice
good afternoon all and how many words today and thanks
hi steve, 286 in total today, good luck
286 and hello, steve
ruby lives in a wonderful place. Sweet village, sweet people, amazing view and a gorgeous house.

That's good :) When I moved, I felt totally overwhelmed, at first.
once again its way to many for me! Not enough time in the day. Good luck all and hi sprite and Ruby
I can imagine, andrew. Not at all easy.
bye steve! Don't worry, you can always do a part.
I've always loved France, since the first time I was here in '64
Ah, I didn't know if I liked England or not. Moving was the first time I came here!
book is on the way sprite;)))
wow andrew. Were you extremely adventurous or was it more or less a forced move? (Tell me to mind my own business if I am asking too much)
crossy, I lub you forever!
that must have been terrifying
aww shucks...
Oh no, you aren't being nosy! It was neither, really. One day I just went to the airport instead of going to school, and a flight to London was the first one leaving that I was able to get on. It was as simple as that!
I get scared in London, just crossing the street or taking the tube
wow! Andrew, that is amazing. Hat off to you. When I was young I often felt like doing that, but I never had the courage.
Thanks! But it wasn't really a courageous thing. I think I was in a trance that whole day! But anyway, it all worked out, and I love it here.
however you call it, it was something really special. :D
bye everybody -- 87 left and I'm going to water the tomatoes

hey peri and molly and all
hi stid
my girl is having 5 friends over here tonight. They are gonna dip all kind of stuff in our chocolate fountain, watch movies and stay awake all night.
:-) sounds "fun" *rolls eyes*
STIDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vacation was very nice and relaxed. Home isn't as clean as I would like but okayish. The kids are marvellous, son is boorish teenager and daughter is moody teenager, so all is normal. Husband will be operated upon tomorrow, small operation. I am good enough. LOL
wait a minute... YOUR choclit fountain?? You have a choclit FOUNTAIN??? *melts with envy*
*sending good energy for husband*
Stiddie, I saw your picture. WOW you are so beautiful. No kidding.
thanks for the good vibes!
??? thanks sprite
yeah, just a small one, nothing special. For very festive desserts. You meld chocolate in a pot, then put it in. And dip in fruit, cook, popcorn, that kind of stuff. Wonderful for teenage gals :)
ot
the picture jillibus took... it was on her facebook
sorry
hi bichon :)
hi sprite
I saw it -- I looked dazed. LOL
hey bichon -- toss a 7 in there will you?
how are you yourself, stiddie?
hi stid
not dazed. Lovely smile. Sweet and beautiful face. Marvellous eyes. (are you blushing already?)
sounds like I might "need" a fountain... I am tired, depressed, worried, anxious and procrastinating, sprite. I know why, I know what I "should" do, and I know what I AM doing. Not what I should. BUT I am also setting a timer so when I feel overwhelmed I take a break and then get back and dig in for a while.
((((stiddie)))) and I agree with sprite about your picture stid.
gah. People always talk about my eyes. Why can't they admire my gorgeous frown lines? *frowns for emphasis*
thanks peri
*gives stiddie a big hug* Perhaps you can take a day to just laze about, do nothing you don't want and allow yourself to not feel bad about it?
need a break, bbs
well hun, that is what you get for having those beautiful eyes. They take away the attention from your pretty frown lines.
bye peri
thanks sprite -- at this point every time I take even a short break I feel even more guilty. But tomorrow I am taking Grant to Powell's bookstore in Portland with a group of his friends, so that will be a break for me as well.
later peri
you know already, dear one... but just to remind you: feeling guilty is good for nothing, it just eats away all your energy. Be mild to yourself. You really worked SO hard - now and again you need to allow for a bit of off-time.
hope you're feeling better stid. Bookstores are always good
LOL I have decided today to get through one specific area of the office, and repack my "substituting kit"
good gal!
Thanks sprite -- I promise to take care of myself. The whole turtle thing just as I was recovering from the travel really unsettled me.
I can imagine. Always painful :(
yes. But I slept a little better last night, which was nice.
sleep helps. And you know... allowing yourself to feel what you feel, take it seriously... and then the feeling will pass. That helps too.
Thanks sprite -- I am trying to "sit with" the feelings instead of fighting them, at least during the day. Anyway, there is that timer I set. Back later to work toward halfway. I hope you'll have a good evening -- the sun just came out here, so I will spend some time in the garden also. :-)
*poof*
*love you*
Bye all, I'd better get going as well. Maybe back la5.

was chatting with DR-G other day on a unrelated topic and he told me that babble will remain as it is.it will not be tweaked, updated or revamped.he says it makes no money and he cannot justify putting any time into it and only keeps it running out of love (i suspect it costs him money)
Sounds like we need to show Dr. G the love!
I love you Dr. God. You have my daily thanks for putting Babble in my life - it gives me something to live for :)
or show him the money perhaps. He should charge the one-time fee annually. Interesting Cross.
lynxxxy! Nice idea for those who are employed. otherwise, not so much - I'm looking right now.

Perhaps this site could benefit from having a place to donate. Lots of websites do that, and they seem to keep running okay.
Or a monthly pledge amount for those who can --- say, $2.00 or $5.00 every first Friday each month. Honor system, of course. Just a friendly reminder posted in the chat on the designated day each month.
ty lynxxx
if i have to pay a monthly fee i'll have to stop. im on a very very very limited income and this is one of the few pleasuresi have for free
sounds like a good idea. Is there a place to send it directly to Dr. G's pockets
I am with you there, Cos. I am self-employed so it would have to be 'as and when' donations for me.
I believe there is, bichon, because when I joined it was free, then when I went to 'pro' I paid a one time fee directly to Dr. G. Cos, not suggesting anything mandatory, just a voluntary contribution for those who can, no questions asked, just a friendly reminder from time to time.
voluntary would be good and on months when i have extra i could donate a few dollars.
i am poor too, but if i could give a little i would love to. must be via pay pal for me however.
Which site is it ch1212
I play Jigidi, $18+ a year. Can be for free. If you pay you get a star (big deal!) and no adds.
i had to quit pogo.com which was 6/month and that was stil too much :( it sucks
I'm looking now, bichon. Will post when I find where. :)
adds = ads
jamie is such a star for keeping this game going when there is no money in it for him. not many people would do that.
Thank goodness Babble didn't get popular enough to get the ads
this is our wordy clubhouse.
people have had babies, lost spouses, lived, died here. we've laughed, we've cried. oh, i feel a song coming on... sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset, slowly... c'mon, everybody!
Okay ... when new players sign up, it's always free. But after two weeks, if they want to keep seeing the stats helps, they have to go pro, with the one-time fee. So obviously Dr. G has a set-up for payment. We could ask him to put a 'donate' button toward the bottom of daily screen. Swiftly, flow the years....
Board owners can opt out of ads (which I suspect Jamie has done). Unfortunately, it's the only way to make money as a board owner.
yes. use the same link new players use to get pro
One season following anottttthhhher, laden with happiness, and tears....
great idea ch1212...Cross, could you ask Jamie to add a donate button
thank goodness you joined in. i didn't actually know the words.
with paypal
as well
theres already a paypal account .. just use the same one. no need to add another donate link
Okey dokey. Cos, since you are in contact, do you mind acting as our coordinator to ask Dr. G for the button?
ch, did you have a lovely weekend?
I'm not :) Crossy is though.
hey all
Cos, where do we go to see the button? Delightful, stidmama. My icon is a photo I took at the King Tut exhibit, with a 'naos'. The kids LOVED the area (of course!) and we loved giving them lots of hugs.
hi stid.
hi Stid
Crossy? Same q - would you mind?
So pleased you were able to visit and got to see the exhibit! I haven't been to this one, saw it when it opened in L.A., and hope to get to this one before it leaves -- something nice about beginning and ending something like this.
a naos! bless you, ch
hmm guess no link after u go pro...
so forget my suggestion then :)
Oh yes! And the Tibetan Association was presenting at Center House with a mandala, and the crowds were thick, and kids were blowing bubbles at the science plaza. Great day.
can logout and see the link again... ;-)
ah thats true lol
Yeah but he could add a donation button, if he wants to. I kind of suspect he doesn't though. But the seed has been planted.
one must pretend to be a stranger to the site.
it's a christmas miracle! money for jamie!
Stid, I tried signing out, and tried clicking on the 'sign up' button, but still no payment link.
is it christmas yet?
less than 4 months mab
nearly
i wonder how much it costs to run this site per year...
it's almost rosh ha shanah
Depends on what he pays for domain registration and his site registration.
me too. Could sign up with a different name, but that's silly.
it's a rosh ha shanah miracle!
we pay 13.00 per year for my group, plus 300.00 for server but i suspect he has his own server
a lot of webgeeks have their own servers.
If he has his own server, he's only paying a nominal fee to keep the domain name alive.
right.
Which means he's not losing money to keep this site up.
hm true! didnt think of it that way
crossy said jame mentioned losing money right?
Well, back to the idea of asking Dr. G to post a button, then encouraging those of us who can, to voluntarily kick in a few dollars from time to time. Crossy? Are you still here?
he still must make it work, etc.
I think he uses a service, just as tom and I do, it's a lot of electricity to keep servers running -- both just to run them, and then more to keep them cool.
And I think a lot of people would have trouble paying a yearly fee.
I am sure it will be worth his time to add a donate button - we should all ask him individually. I don't believe his has his own server either
(waves bacon around, trying to lure Crossy)
Even if he pays for server space, it would only be roughly three to three hundred fifty a year to keep the place up and running. Don't know how that balances out with membership intake.
good idea, lynxxx. will msg him.
wasnt there a problem last year with donations and the money not being used?
That was the whole Mr. P fiasco and it was done through a third party.
ah okay.
I believe that was a different issue with a babble player, Cos.
There was Cos - but that was on a seperate site - we are talking about voluntary donations direct to DrG here so should be OK
Hello babblers! Molly, cos, mab, ch1212 and lynxx!
hi Jilly
and stiddy too!
Supposedly, all the money that was donated through Paypal was received by the benificiary.
hi jill..
hi jill.
i cant wait to move. a little over a month, the maintence was s'posed to come today to fix the shower wall but they never did. called the landlord. she didnt pick up. 3 times.
Okay, may I propose the following: 1. I'll email Dr. G and ask for a donate button linked to both Paypal and the usual, to be at the bottom of our screen. 2. If he agrees, then those of us who can and wish to, may donate however much whenever, although I will try and remember to post a gentle reminder once a month. Okay?
sounds perfect.
sunds ok.. as long as people understand it isnt mandatory. we dont want toc hase people away
im sure we have a lot of lurkers who are pro
Anyone who wants to can email Dr. God at using the SEND THEM button below.
TY ch1212
Terrific, mollyl! The more requests he receives, the more likely he'll be to add the button. I agree with the voluntary idea, and will ask Dr. G to add a disclaimer that it is at our request he is adding the button, and only for those who wish to, and can afford to. I will do that now.
wo hoo found the sh7 on my first try :)
hello
<-- is sad. was looking forward to the RNC speeches tonight. Guess willhave to wait til tomorrow
Now we should try and get Lickety to do the same thing - I might email him
NBT and NBS...
Hi Peri

that sounds delish

Great idea, lynxxx! And I've em'd Dr. G. Now diving back into today's fascinating grid :). (poof)
hey peri *holds out bowl for leftovers* I am trying to get a few more words so I am at halfway... then I need to get back to "work"
I wish I could give you some in person, stid. hand over a dish of virutal salad and a bowl of soup.

News flash, Jamie says he's not interested in a donation button. I didn't think so.

yay cos
Congrats Cos!
bbs
well thats that then molly :)
how is ur day?
My day is not bad. We have a good board owner here. He keeps this place alive for the love of the game. It was nice that people want to donate, but clearly it's not necessary.
WooT WooT WooT Cos!!
kinda shows the generosity of babblers and of jamie today
Cos, is the RNC thing postponed due to weather? Everyone in Florida is acting like it's no big whoop.
Isasc didn't amount to much for Florida, but you never know where these storms will go. If it had stayed more to the east it could have been very bad.
postponed til tomorrow
3 days only. however the Dem convention is 3 days too.. dems chose to have 3 days instead of 4.
I'm 40 miles inland from Tampa and have just had rain and not much wind so far. But the Forum is close to the water and on low ground. A storm surge would have been a real mess there.
Hi again, everyone. I've taken a sleeping pill so now the race to finish is on :)
(pops head in) Thank you so much for following up on that, Molly, and to all who suggested it. I will cross it off my 'keep tabs on' list and be grateful Dr. G is managing without our donations. (Now back to the game :) poof)
Thank you for thinking it up, ch12! it's a nice idea.

Our brains can only figure it out when we ask for help....LOL...think mine was over Cos's usual time...

Hi all
howdy wht
I am still looking for the ha7.32. The clue that was given looks like it was for the ha6,21.
i am far behind in this grid and of not much use atm
ha 7/32 = 3/4 of very hard winter and ending that means small (like an in ***)
fraction is wrong - should be 4/5
Found it. ha7. Sarcastic laugh + snake letter + to rent or allow.
ty wht
Clue for the last ra7,36 please. I have the one that is like a file.
ra7/36 like a scratchy cough
ra 7/36 without sun beams
Oops, no.

Aw, and I was going to say without Mr. Charles. : D
Owl, I have tried it and it is good

pe 7/32 builds off the pe 4/5
But the pe7,32 does
pe + military families shop at the comi*****.
thanks Molly

Fireworks
WTG wht!
Mr. Speedy does it again : D
It only looks quick because I lurk at work.
Does anyone need clues before I go?
I wonder if there are clerks who lurk at work?
Only if they are Turks
Or jerks
The Turk who was a jerk smirked while he lurked at work.
Then he went berserk.
That was his quirk
But to lurk is a perk.
As long as the boss doesn't know about it.
The boss is a jerk
Not when he lets you lurk at work.
Well, I guess that's okay then ..
I think this is where we started.
Any more clues before I go?
Hello all, back to finish...56 to go
Oh, I thought you and Mr. Jilly would be "busy" for the rest of the night. : P
Molly....I'm 54...these things have to be planned...LOL...
Oh I see. You didn't pencil him in for tonight. : D
Well, wasn't sure if he'd make it today or tomorrow, he and his sister have been clearing out my mother in law's place
Sorry to hear that. It's not happy work.
No, and she really should be in assisted living...expect her to fail within 6 months. Damn doctor didn't think she needed to be in assisted living...grrr
Sorry to rant...
Jilly, have you thought about getting help at home for your mother in law?
Rant away. I have been down the road of doctors who will not make the right call on the elderly.
My sister in law has POA, they all felt she would send them away....
you coud try, she might like someone.most elderly want to stay in their own home
there is also adult day care, don't know if they have that where she is
That had been my suggestion but as an outlaw....well, no one listened. Plus some of them didn't see the deficits that I did...have 15 years in Home Health...
you can tell me to shut, but I was a social worker for many years
ok then
I did home care for a while too
Another decision was that with them taking her car, she needed to be somewhere that would trasport her too
now if she only remembers to go
My sister and I found adult day care so depressing that we took my Dad out.
I especially wished they would have given it at ry when we actually moved her two weeks ago...utterly undid her...
some of them can be and assisted lving too, just have to find the right match
This is a little cottage, but is independant. Time will tell....
It all depends on how well monitored the independent situation is.
This has another building that is assisted living, so it won't be quite so hard to move her
It just broke my heart EVEN after knowing her confusion would increase...
Only monitoring is the housekeeper that comes weekly. Or, God forbid, she leaves and gets lost...
whoops...phone..brb
back..
=================>!!FW!!<============= ===
Well done Jilly. I hope things go well with your husband's mother.
Thanks Molly..
Bowing out...see everyone tomorrow!
"pissah" not found?
It won't take pissy either. Stupid Enable. : P
it does every other year.. sort of diurinally
hi all!
hi sue
hi, ruru! Sorry you couldn't make it to bugsaw's; we had a fabulous time!
yeah.. i'd have love to come.. I am such a doofus I didn't realize I needed a passport until Jilli Mentioned it
oh well - did you get one anyway?
no.. not yet
might as well, no?
yeah..sooner or later
oh, and how's your knee? One of my friends just had a replacement.
my knee sucks.. but I'm coping.
I have been conversing with Blue Shield.. god save me
ah, that's tough. Let me know if you're going to have it replaced; I have some recovery hints
You waited too long Ru. You know that now, you are going to come out of anesthesia in a geriatric unit at the Veterans' Hospital...in restraints.
restraints don't scare me .. I'm used to them
Oh and your head will be shaved too.
hey all.
*stern mama look at ruru knee*
hi stid!!
hey sue! ((hugs)) are you home?
I am indeed! Got home on Saturday.
nice. It RAINED here last night!!!
*Watches the lead balloon float out the window*
it rained here yesterday too!!!
hey, when the lead balloons are floating, life is good :-)
VERY NICE!
and I visited my new office today and met the office staff
Are they nice?
will meet with the dean on Wednesday and the outgoing chair maybe tomorrow or Wednesday too
they are very nice, and seem quite efficient
there is a staff opening that i will have to fill but first will have to figure out what the person does
and there are also at least two faculty searches
I am glad they are nice. *shudder* I do not envy you faculty searching, though
well, I just have to supervise, there will be a faculty search committee
and I have done a lot of that, so can look wise and knowledgeable about procedures
I don't know -- supervising others... LOL I am sure your very wise professor looks will serve you well!
I really only have to supervise the office staff; faculty are impossible to supervies
*supervise
and there are only two (or three); when I was the graduate dean I had a staff of about 15
Btw, I am still absolutely intrigued by the whole speed of light piece of our conversation. I don't have the time right now to really push for deep understanding, but it's about the coolest, niftiest tidbit I have learned in a long time. That, and the idea that there are particles so tiny and fast that they go straight through "solid" materials - the fact that I know someone who has really worked with them is astonishing to me. You're like a super-hero scientist! *starts crocheting super-hero cape for sue*
*modestly hides face behind cape*
actually I really enjoy teaching, especially when it's informal - people are much readier to learn when there isn't a test :-)
*grin* not possible, the ÄŒerenkov radiation glow gives you away!
ah, well, I'm not *that* fast :-)
anyway, I have 97 left, with nbt and nbs I am going to declare victory and go to bed
so, I am almost down to 100, and then will look at the materials in these sub folders (was going to do it earlier, then a friend I hadn't talked to in a year called...) and get them ready for the new year. I am totally psyched about teaching again, even if it's not my own classroom. :-)
but stid, you have my email, do write me when you have more questions
well done, sue! and sweet dreams.
thanks sue -- I will definitely pester you when I have questions.
take care, stid!
oooh. found the 9.
and down to 100. back later to finish if I can! *poof*

Hello Marais.... welcome to Babble
Thanks much, book.
The clues are great. I had a small brain injury last summer so this helps a great deal.
my husband had a stroke and they had him play bookworm in therapy. It does help
I have 270 and I have to go to bed now. I would have finished if I had not driven five and a half hours today
