do you know if florida finished their counting?(not that it matters in the end) but am just curious what they came up with
I don't think so....last I heard they were to announce results Monday
wild
Very thankful they were the deciding state like before
*weren't
indeed
"It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes." (Josef Stalin)
can you imagine the entire united states hanging on them trying to count?
thought I heard on NPR yesterday that they had finished and that Obama had won by an even larger margin . . .
lol stalin would know
:-D
cool, une
when stalin was in power it took a braver soldier to retreat than to go forward
indeed
I didn't watch much of anything yesterday, last I heard was Friday
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Four days after the election, President Barack Obama can finally claim victory in Florida. The state finished counting its votes Saturday. Obama was declared the winner, giving him a 332 to 206 final margin in the Electoral College. Florida officials said Obama had 50 percent of the vote to Romney's 49.1 percent, a margin of about 74,000 votes.
ahh ty br
thanks BR
tell romney this is what happens when you piss off big bird.you get no help counting

hello BR
Hello, Ruby
I'm still afraid to tell husband that I want to go to London for a long weekend in Dec. Need some courage, like the scraecrow in OZ
You so deserve to get away and have some fun Ruby
how about I set up a babble meetup for my house and disappear! lol
ty smores
LOL hilarious
Walk out the door and call him from London
You could just pack up and go
lol BR
the problem is arranging all the meals, for him and the pups, AND that it coincides with our wedding annicersary. (Maybe he'll forget....lol)
if he asked where you going, tell him, I told you a month ago
that's a good idea, smores
Happy Anniversary Honey, you get the house to yourself..lol
the housekeeper will come in (extra) in the evening, but I'm afraid he'll burn the house down
you are too funny, smores
things that bug crossy #34,863- having a sneezing fit while in the middle of carrying 2 cups of tea somewhere:((
better than after or as your are swallowing the tea!
A little added flavor
:( crossy...
lol BR
I had to pull over in rush hour traffic recently due to a sneezing fit
luckily I was in the right lane already
How well did it fit?
ruby, pre pack a bag for a week, keep it in the car and one day tell him you are going to the grocer and head to the airport.perhaps he will not notice till your back if your housekeeper can stall him
not well at all BR
I realy want to go. These family parties are lovely for me.
All kidding aside, I think it is tragic you have to tiptoe around your husband.
You HAVE to go Ruby...you so owe it to yourself
it may be tragic, but I can blame no one but myself
if you go to london, you should say howdy to my uncle ian.he runs(if it is still in operation there) the big kodak plant
agreed BR
I think Kodak now makes only film for movies. My son's FIL worked for Kodak his whole life, in Rochester, NY
BR, I don't think my situation is that unusual; it just sort of blindsided me due to lack of foresight
when you're 50, who thinks of a major age difference?
does he help with the dogs ruby
yes, he walks the dogs as I'm not strong enough and he does the grocery shopping
those are both good things
May not be that unusual but abuse is wrong
good, so that isn't something for you to worry about
I think the nastiness comes with his (advanced) age, whether it is Alzheimer's or just ordinary age-related dementia.
good afternoon, all
he had a nasty temperament a long time ago, I just chose to ignore it!
I didn't know there was an age difference Ruby
Okay, but he refuses to get help and the doc is his toady
{{sprite}}
Hi, sprite
French toady doc! hahah
Hiya Sprite
*hugs* ruby.
cuisse de doc!
hi BabbleRabble, good to see you.
with garlic
Hi all. Hope you're enjoying the weekend.
hi Liz
hi liz
well, you've put up with a lot from his Alzheimer's and/or dementia - time to use it to your advantage
Hello, Lizlin. I am having a rather weakend
Lol
pack up and go, if and when he says something, tell him "we discussed this a month ago"
I think your suggestion is the best, smores. Huh, you don't remember? I told you a month ago!
It may do you both some good, I know it will do you good
I don't think it will do him good, but, as they say here, "tant pis" (or Auntie couldn't wait
lol...BR...nice one
We are having a winter weather watch ... so I closed the shades
maybe if your not there and he has to do things for himself, he'll realize how good he has it
...test...
the problem is "he'd rather sit in the dark"
closing the shades against the weather is a good idea
Are you okay, sprite
how is Tim, sprite?
there... my messages got eaten by cyberspace pacmen. Here goes again: Just go, ruby. I am serious. He is just manipulating you, which is his pattern to get his way. Just go and enjoy it. He can manage.
OK, with all your encouragement, dear babble firneds, I am not going to book my ticket and hotel!!!!
now***
YAY ruby!!!
not that okay at the moment, BabbleRabble. Desperately counting my blessings to convince myself life is worth living. Must sounds familiar?
(not not))
{{sprite}} extra hugs
I don't know the situation but it really sounds like the break will do you good as well as being fun.
Tim is doing ok, ruby. Communication with him is better, from both sides. A bit more peace in da house.
and maybe I'll even get to dance.....
<-- misses dancing
you go dance, ruby. You are more than due a break.
{{sprite}}
thanks, ruby and BabbleRabble, for asking :)
good morning all - hello all
yes, sprite, yes
Hello, wvteach
tell Tim that if he lived with me, it would be much tougher!
{{teach}}
Hi teach.
did the second storm touch WVA
will do, ruby, grin. Hi teach :)
I'm not as nice as his mom, that's for sure
not at all - but counties just east of us still do not have power from first storm though it is getting fewer
hi everyone
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance
reaching out over the miles to you, BabbleRabble. If we can't do it day by day, we'll do it hour by hour or minute by minute.
that is really tough for them, especially with the cold weather
Thanks, sprite
BR: that is a touching poem. Thank you from my heart
very nice BR
that is beautiful. Thank you, BabbleRabble.

and now it's time for the power nap!

enjoy it, ruby. Your meditation time :)

hi crossy *hugs* How are you and how is your dear Elegant? Is the will issue a good bit underway now?
E's eliminated
Excellent, emores :)
lol..sprite
she is fine and it is well under way now(almost 50% done) then 2-5 months to drag it through probate.once it is off the the courts i think my elegant can at last grieve for her mum
yes, and she will have you to hold her and let her grieve. Glad things are developing well. It is a tough job.
one thing it has done is to open my own eyes to make sure my own affirs in that regard are up to date and clear and concise with an accurate list of nombers and names in there as well
maybe when this is all over you two can take a weekend to a fav place
indeed
losing her mum and dad within 2 years has been hard on my beloved
very wise, crossy.
2 years to the day actually.both passed on oct 25th as it turns out as i was going through her papers
wow, the same day
how odd. That will be really a date that stands out for her year after year.
but we are both well and today is a day for happy thoughts i think and to remember our veterans
yes, a huge ThankYou to all veterans
it certainly is, crossy. May they have the peace they earned so very dearly.
and it is nice weather here for a change, warm and sunny.usually it is so miserable for them, cold half rain half wet snow
that is good :) Meeting up with the only people who really understand - and good weather to lift the spirits a bit.
we have a canadian forces base nearby and often vintage planes are made available to them for transport if they need to travel for services some of them are quite rare and graciously offered for use by the owners for this one day
that is a good thing
that is wonderful crossy
when one of those 4 prop ww2 bombers go over you are stunned and actually wonder how they stay in the air.it is staggering to think the skys were once filled with them as they flew over on their runs
hi all - sad day to day - ist aniversary of Dad's death - being quiet and sad today - prob be back later
not that i am an advocate of war,but we should never, ever forget
((kazz))
:( Kazzer
{{{{Kazzer}}}} Am sorry, Kazzer... a day of mourning and remembering... prayers and good thoughts to you.
try to remember the good times today
maybe go do something you both enjoyed
if you enjoy war doccumentaries the best (IMHO) is still the 1974 BBC series world at war
I very much don't, crossy. I remember, but I don't look it up. I am very much anti-war, but I also very much appreciate the efforts of those who fought so peace could be rewon. I try not to watch documentaries that make me feel depressed, but I do spend time sending up a prayer for peace and for all those who fought and either died, or had to live with the consequences.
I know what you mean sprite, I have watched a few and while very interesting also very sad
that is good also
I do plan on watching Sargent York today

*Sergeant
:) Hi tc
this is one of my personal truths: I can do more by allowing some love to collect in my heart and send it out into the world, than by letting the cruelty and suffering in the world flow into me and make me depressed or bitter.
one of the reasons we no long watch cable tv programming sprite:)
so true sprite :)
same here, crossy :)
that is to say, my love does. But I don't.
our tv is now nothing but a display for dvd movies
that is my only use for it as well.
Stop the hate and start the love, man...lol
when shows come on that use sexualizing your young children for trophies and prizes,it has gone too far in the name of entertainment and that was what did it for me in the end
yeah... I was born in the 60s, grin. Too young to be part of it then, but I guess it is in my very genes.
i am a 60,s child as well
me too sprite, turned 50 this year
hi all, have nbs but missing two tiles
I was quoting my panda
hiya peri :)
true too, crossy. Those, and all those reality tv programs, and all the endless sad news... and what is left is 90% too stupid to watch.

hi Brookie
howdy brookie;))
How is crossy? Sprite?
We had a Babble meetup yesterday in Delaware. Very nice.
oh how lovely :) Wish I could have been there. I seriously need me my own Scottie to beam me over.
crossy is fine brookie, busy times but fighting the good fight
sadly up here we seem to be light years for any babble meet that has been organized
Hi there Brookie. It was nice to finally meet you. The meetup was fun.
but now it is dover

hi there BR, how are you doing today
Hi peri! Long time no speak. And crossy, whereabouts in Canada are you? BR, that was a funny pun.

Good morning! Happy Sunday...and a special Good Morning and Thank You to our Veterans!!!!!
hi car.ee :)
Hello Sprite!
bbl
brookie,i am in central ontario.the closest babble meet so far was in vancouver, about 3000 miles away:(
Hello, Car ... no bus today
car!!
No bus today...or tomorrow!
Hello BR! Hello Crossy!
construction ongoing?
bye peri
Still going....
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!!
In the 1980s, Pablo Escobar’s Medellin Cartel was spending $2,500 a month on rubber bands just to hold all their cash.
wow
poor babies...
Hi Hurshy!
errr ok that one goes right over my head
hi hursh
I'm baaaack...lol
Hi Smores!
Hi car, hurshy
wb smores :)
crossy, sprite, is BR still here
Toronto to Dover, Delaware: 368 miles
lol...guess so
Yup!
am happy to say YES, he is :)
Subtract about 60 miles, BR, as we're in Northern Delaware :-)
ok,that was a pretty lame tidbit so here is a bonus one...
wow crossy, your tidbit is sad...
In New Jersey and Oregon, pumping your own gas is illegal. These states banned self-service out of fear that untrained consumers might light themselves on fire. The laws are surprisingly popular with citizens; any mention of their repeal has been met with fervent opposition.
they spent my income on rubber bands, terrible
lol....nice
Do they charge more for it? Here self-serve is cheaper than full-serve.
a luxureous law
New Jersey is just 10 minutes away from me, and I hate not doing self-serve, so I always gas up in Delaware. So far haven't lit myself on fire!
here it is the same
<-----misses full service stations
Gas is actually slightly cheaper in NJ, for whatever reason, even though it's full service.
here it is almost non-existant
here as well, car.
Hi Brookie! Glad to hear that!
I just don't like handing my credit card to a gas station attendant in NJ.
my last station i gave up just this march was the last full serve in town
the reason is that NJ puts less state taxes on the gas.
Woot! Found co 10!!!!!
30 years in the fuel industry was more than enough fro crossy
YAY car
the other 10 is also co
good job, car
you guys better enjoy your gas prices..is roughly $5.20 a u.s gallon here
ouch.
eww
Many places here requires a deposit or credit card at the pump before any gas is pumped ... to many getting away without paying
too many
i am one who acknowledges that gas prices MUST go up in order to encourage the purchase of more fuel efficient cars by americans. the prices ought to reflect the actual costs to the environment with which we will have to reckon.
passed a law a couple years ago here, lose your license if you pump and run
noooooo
if gas prices reflect reserves and usage, the US has five percent of the reserves and uses 25 percent
I agree Hursh. No matter how high gas prices go, I still see people driving around in their big ass SUVs. And most of them are young singles who have no need for such a big vehicle.
yeah - never go off road, either. just think SUVs are cool.
Hello Molly!
agree we do consume to much
Hi Molly
yes several Hummers around here, very disturbing
The sense of entitlement is a fallacy ... since the US also is first or second in pollution
No such thing as clean coal
and the breaks the oil companies get is unconscionable .... refineries in the US have increased exports
hi, all. I think my eye has almost healed. I feel much better today.
hi Angel
Hello Angelsong! I am so glad to hear that.
Morning all!
Hello uusue! How is Frank today?
hi double u sue *hugs* I read the news, small steps forward.
hurshy,i agree with you 100%
If you add in the cost of our Navy patrolling the shipping lanes the price spikes
A little better, car, still can't eat anything but he is healing gradually.

Hi All

an Americanism, I think, Hursh.

Of course it's legal now in Washington and Colorado.

sorry, Hursh, I forgot.
Yeah, 20 years to late :(
Hi Crossy.
humphrey did that?
lol smores.
bogarting is legalize in washington and colorado
howdy hego
no Hurshy, it means to keep something to yourself
oh
not sharing.
what smores said
slain term for being selfish
so humphrey was SELFISH?
with smokes he was
lol...
Humphrey Bogart, with his signature cigarette in mouth. From actor Humphrey Bogart, from Dutch surname Bogart (“keeper of an orchardâ€), from boomgaard (“orchardâ€), cognate to English boom (“piece of woodâ€)/beam + garden. Senses of selfishness and excess evolved from the original 1960’s use meaning “keep a joint in the mouth instead of passing it onâ€, recalling the actor’s signature practice of constantly keeping a cigarette dangling out of his mouth, even while talking. Other senses of “bullying†or “tough guy†also originated in the 1960’s and recall the actor’s various movie roles. Another potential origin of the vernacular comes from Humphrey Bogart's role in the film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre in which his character, Dobbs, becomes increasingly selfish with the gold mine that he shares with his two partners.
And that explains that. very good BR.
it is a wonder that political correctnes inc have no sanitized his movies as the very sigh of ole bogie may scar our children and offend others
Roll another one, just like the other one ...
sight
I frankly think "others" should get over themselves.
yet the so-called reality shows are fine...
this year i am only shopping at stores that have CHRISTMAS decoration and not happy hollidays

I wonder if a stainless steel pole is eligible for law enforcement

Hello, welki
writing love letters in the .... pat
Had a great lunch yesterday with JMC, Peri, Brooke, Doren and Hubby.
where'd you meet, hego? philly?
and the food was even good.
deleware
No In Delaware on the river front.
Good location, actually.
you've met all but brooke before, yes?
walk right in sit right down daddy
no, not me.
are you listening to the radio, br?
I hadn't met Dorens either.
yes
good station BR
don't know how many there are on babble, but a big thank you to all our veterans
ditto
Vietnam, the fun spot of Southeast Asia
ah yes.
hats off to you, BR
Sad time .... Four dead in Ohio ... and that kind of stuff
remember it well.
i remember. i was a kid living in ny. thank you for your service.
I had it easy .. today those who have to endure multiple deployments I doubt will ever really recover
Personally, I think it is criminal
Agreed
i agree, too
It feels like Viet Nam all over again only hotter and dryer.
On Christmas day, we got a monsoon type rain .... it rained so hard the level go to about a foot ... the water of very warm and steam rose
yuk
nobody dreams of a soggy Christmas.
Got the soap out and cleaned up
making the best of a bad situation.
does it upset you to talk about this, br?
Not really ... I wish all who supported the war had been measured for uniforms and sent to an infantry unit
I wish all who DIDN'T support it had been sent! Just desserts.
and 5000 more died while nixon and kissenger pursued peace with honor
Completely disagree, Mimicat
*shrug* nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree - unlikely either of you will sway the other
Some supported the troops, but not the war.
I got home to taunts of baby killer
I actually meant to say those that didn't support the troops should be sent---not the war. That "war" should never have been. And why are we still in Afghanistan? I totally agree with you BR.
There you go! Unanimous.
horrible, br
When will we ever learn?.....sigh......
Yep, hego. Gee, reminds me of a 60's song....when will we learn.
Long time passing.
long time passing
there we go again, hego
Joni Mitchell, I think.
snap again!
where have all the flowers gone
noooo - pete seeger
oh! right.
I guess she just sang it.
but peter paul and mary put it on the charts
There you go! Love musical references. I'm 61 but until 3 years ago still sang with a classic rock band. Hey, if Tina Turner can do it, so can I, right?!
sure thing, mimi (and tina turner's legs are still amazing!)
My hubby had a classic rock band.
Had to give it up. Too hard on the ears.
http://tinyurl.com/arklmk
The band still exists, though.
(kingston trio sang it, too - save yourself from googling)
Wow---feeling sooo nostalgic now.
Country Joe Buffalo Springfield
gimme an F
Netflix has lots of concerts available for instant viewing. I have Joni Mitchell and it's a great thing to see her and hear her again. Joan Baez is also available along with The Moody Blues, Steely Dan, and lots more. Fun.

I have a Roku box so I can download these and keep them to watch again whenever I want.

Hey, BR----can we all spell cynical.....understand, though.

Happy Sunday morning, Babblers!
Might have been the pancake hat, Welki. : )
looks like Roku box downloads are blocked in canada
Judi! I missed you yesterday.
Hi Judi.
hi judi, molly
yes, the hat is more suited to the canadian military uniforms.
I shouldn't be sitting here. I really have to clean out my laundry room. It's starting to look like an episode of "Hoarders" in there.
Hi Molly
we don't get hulu either
Missed me? I didn't play yesterday. Too busy.
heck with the laundry room.
thought you were coming to lunch, busy lady.
Oh no! I thought that was next Saturday! ARRRRRGH!!!!
i have a laundry room that looks like that, too - getting to the point where i have to move stuff to get to the dryer knob. maybe i'll join you today in the quest for a clean l.r. , judi
<---Is scared of hoarders
I am an idiot.
Oh, so sorry : (
could happen to anybody.
There you go, hego! I'm with you....spent over two decades cleaning up for a family of five and now that I'm alone again, I just do what I want when I want. As Erma Bombeck said "If you're coming to see me, come on but if you're coming to see my house you'll have to come another day 'cause it's not ready.
I am so NOT a hoarder. I just can't ignore it any longer.
<---Wonders if Hego hadn't said anything if Judi would have been standing at Market Place next Saturday, wondering where everyone was.
every 5 years,i ipen up my entire home for a sale.i put not for sale signs on what i want to keep and best offer is on everything else
Me too molly.
LOL! I would have, Molly. Uhg.

I'm so sorry I messed up. I was so looking forward to meeting you guys.
I'm sorry too.
Maybe some time I could drive down and we'll have lunch.

I would love that!

Brooke
we'll do it Judi.
who is oke?
We talked about you Ruru.
uh oh
Oh, now I'm really sorry I missed a chance to talk smack about ruru.
Said how we would love to come see you some time.
Babble players were gossiped about at a meet up? *Flounces out of chat in a huff* : P
this is my tidbit of the day in honour of all soldiers ,american and canadian who served and died, served and live and still serve..
With a hero's greeting we will welcome him, With hero's speeches we will honor him, With a hero's ending we will bury him, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. And comfort his family with a telegram, We regret to inform you we have lost a man, But we gave him the highest medal of the land, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. We know what an awful price he had to pay, But the enemy was contained for another day, We trained him well, but he would have wanted it that way, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. Oh, the weary wounded they wait by his side, Wondering why they hadn't also died, the picture of victory on its pride, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. And the flag is at half mast wet with foreign rain, Ignored by the stranger he had helped to train, To him it was duty, to them it's a game, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. At Arlington he's lowered down without a pause, And his native land welcomes him with open jaws, And the tombstone reads such a noble cause, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. Now a moment of silence for the broken man, While the president proudly crows "we'll never bend", And cheers their replacements marching off again, That's the sad and silent song of a soldier. And the flag draped coffins are a sailin' home, And the waves are a watchin' as the engines drone, As the ship draws near, hear the bugle moan The sad and silent song of a soldier.
sorry for the length
Me, too--- I adore Napa.
very nice Crossy
Very funny Molly

Napa sounds like a gorgeous place.
We gossiped gently and kindly.

in + sounds like the place in brooklyn where you'd ride the Cyclone
Goody, ty
speaking of --- has anyone heard from Annie?
No, and I have not heard from Mom, who said she would email me when she heard from Annie. I'm concerned.
spoken like a true Brooklynite!
No, I was wondering about that myself.
maybe i'll send mom a message and ask
I can't imagine being 27 flights up and without power for this long.
good idea.
done. will let you know if she replies.
i'm still amazed with the internet. takes me less than a minute to send a message to someone thousands of miles away.
(and it's not like i'm a newbie - been on this net thing for twenty years now)
that is great. consider Babble. we talk to others all over the world!
Wow Welkie, you were on the internet in 92? Most people didn't even have computers then.
in 1996 or 1997, i had an internet party - people from germany, australia and all over the u.s. came to visit
I began in 1995.
i used to do keypunch, that's how long i've been around
I should be better by now. lol
I used to do keypunch too!
It seems like the dark ages now.
I always get the internet and the world wide web confused.
Used to use the old keypunch cards for crafts projects - make neat Xmas wreaths
all the're good for now Teach.
can't get them anyore that i know of
how about the big floppy disks - or even the small ones! bet there are tons of folks who'd say, "what? what are these disks of which you speak?" LOL
Is the te 5, 12 something dumb?
not something dumb, but a common word here - te + ***igo ink
got it
Oops1 ty anyway.
still have some of the 5 inch floppies and the 3 in. hard floppy - taught a coputer class and kept them to cut them apart to let students see what they looked like
hehehe - how many would know what ***igo ink is!!?!
I do
Also have lots of floppies.
and a floppy drive.
I do - thankyou too....though I am sitting here racking my brains to remember how the cards worked
Morning everyone
Hi Lynn-
zeros and ones - it's all about binary
have the floppies (both sizes) and even an old Apple II GS computer that can use them
the card went through a machine that "read" the holes.
does no one remember the 8.5 inch floppies, replaced by 5.25 then 3.5 inch ones?
yes, seain, we do.
<---comes out of lurk...wow!! finally monkeyed the ne8!
hello, everyone! clue for the je5?

Sorry, phone call, yes smores been home since yesterday....LOVE having the Hawaiian bird on today's grid...
Yeah, I thought of you as I typed it earlier...lol
Up and down, lynxxx, he's been having some nausea, but was up and walking, and just got his catheter out.
Not his epidural catheter?
No, the other one.
Yay!!
The epidural did come apart when he got up to walk, but they put it back together.
Sounds like good progress. I always like (fruit)yoghurt for nausea
The "other" one, : D Bet he's glad to have that out.
He can't eat anything yet, lynxxx, not even water
Poor love
he can't even have water
No, he still has a nasogastric tube draining his stomach
:(
It may be awhile for that to keep the system quiet...
Probably another day or two, Jill.
Although he is starting to pass gas into the ileostomy bag, which he says is a very strange sensation.
Bet it is, is the ostomy planned to be reversed?
brb
yes, probably after the chemotherapy.
ce6 please?
ce & not coins but ****s
That's good, something to be a great goal. He will really need to boost up his protein intake when able to eat...
I assume they have him on IV feeding?

thanks, bugs, it is always good to hear about people who have been through this
jill, he's on 5% glucose now, clear solution

molly (and all others concerned about AnnieBrook) - I just heard back from mom. she emailed and snail mailed annie and has not heard anything back. she's hoping that annie and bobby are with her daughter in connecticut.
WooT WooT WooT lynxx!!
*sends positive thoughts* to anniebrook...
((((annie)))))
i'm wondering if mom should get in touch with anyone in nyc to maybe do a welfare check on annie
(or at least knock on a neighbor's door)
I would think that Annie's daughter is making sure that Annie is okay.
how silly of me not to think of that *boink*
then why were you concerned, molls? just because she's not been around?
still, would be nice to know she's okay - wherever she is.
Because it's not like Annie to not check in, at least with Mom. I doubt Annie's daughter would check in with internet friends if there had been any problems. I'm sure it's just an extended lack of power.
there should be official protocol for these things :)
We went to a luau our last night in Kona, both couples on each side of us were Sandy victims, both still without power, one from NJ, the other Long Island...
I know I'm not a city person, but I think 27 floor up with no power for a week is a scary thing.
Don't worry Mols...hubby has strict orders to post under me if anything should befall me....
*floors
i agree - we had a fire alarm go off at work last week and i was thankful my office is on the 2nd floor (of a 20 story building)
Well, must head off to make beef vegie soup...definitly soup weather here...bbl *poof*

HI teach
hi teach!
bichon ...who is that sweet creature in your profile?
I mentioned in my profile that we are fostering a Shih Tzu rescue, Watson. He is an absolute joy to have inthe house.
He looks a little chilly :)
has he lost his coat?
He was found emaciated and right now he's with us so we can fatten him up. Ordinarily he wears a sweater, but I need a "whole body" picture for the rescue organization
Yes, he was all matted [even over his eyes and he had to be shaved.
Poor little dude
He's gained some weight and when he's well enough, he will be neutered and have surgery on his leg. Then a lucky owner will have him
It's good that he was found when he was. He was close to death.
poor soul ... glad there is someone out there to give him love and attention.
I don't know if he ran away or was tossed out. But, he is the sweetest little thing.
He certainly is adorable..even shaved down..sweet face:)
I've never had a Shih Tzu before. Very delicate compared to my Bichons
wish I could give him a cuddle.
I love bichons..little bundles of fun
I'll give him one for you. My two Bichons were found in a similar situation.
I have a mixed breed little one...poodle/yorkie
ty bichon ...
You have a liitle one too mo?
Toy Poodle, Mo? Must be really tiny, like a Shih Tzu. I don't know how Shih Tzu's get.
India ... no but we look after our nephews black labrador and she is so intelligent and loveable.
bichon ... that is a picture similar to a friends pooch.
nbs
Teach flushes the chat log : D
I compared the picture with one on the internet. I don't see any Bichon in him. The rescue organization places Bichons and Bichon mixes
I cannot remember the name of the breed but he looks similar to a shih tzu.
Good of you to take him in Bich. That's a lot of dogs in the house, you must really love them.
It is our pleasure. He has brought us much happiness. We will be so sad when he leaves for his forever home
I admire people like you .... I dont think I would be able to part with them .
Just wait, I'll be sobbing
*Gets tissues ready for Bich*
I bet you will ... so would I.
hi again all!
well it is late here .... bed time I think nice to have chatted and keep up the good work bichon .. goodnight all.
night, mo!
hi sue .... how is Frank.
hi mo, he is tired and nauseous, but doing a little better than yesterday. Walked farther.
good to hear it ... it sounds as if he is improving .... my best wishes go to you both.
thanks, mo, it will be a long journey back to health but we are on the way.
must be off now .... goodnight.
night!
What a rip off to be nauseous when you haven't eaten in days.
he is terrified of the pain of even trying to vomit, so has been fighting it, successfully so far.
another rip off - he naturally has very low blood pressure, which is usually a good thing, but a lot of medications lower your blood pressure (like painkillers and antinausea meds) so they can't give him as strong a dose
Well that sucks.
nevertheless he is doing pretty well. Having a nap right now so I am babbling quietly :-)
Is there a way to Babble loudly? : )
well, one could swear loudly at Enable, I suppose :-)
hi all.. can i have a clue for the de7/36 please?
de + not off + facial twitch
thanks molly!
hello again
hi smores!
{{Sue}}
I'm on my daughters tiny netbook, it feels strange
I've babbled on my phone and my ipad as well as laptops and desktops, the phone is the hardest
lol...i bet
Good morning everyone. Sue - hope Frank is feeling a bit better this morning (afternoon)
I've only played on my laptop which is much larger than this one
hi liz! He's quite tired and has been having some nausea. He did walk all through the halls this morning (probably wore himself out), and his catheter is out. They've started him on a little glucose (was just saline), so this is progress.
Hiya liz
Anaesthesia made me feel sick for quite a while - good that he's walking and that he's had some glucose - even through saline - it's still nourishment. Hopefully a bit of progress every day :)
first in6 please?
I think he's nauseous because his intestines are starting to work a little - he's passed some gas through the ostomy. Also he hasn't had anything to eat since Thursday (and that was clear liquids).
first in6 ends in sometimes vowel, cos
You're probably right about the reason - I was just saying don't underrate the effect of the anaesthesia on top of everything else!
that is certainly true, liz!
It must be hard - everyone offering their own advice and comments!!!! Too much input!
Anyway, hope you're continuing to be well looked after too!
oh, I'll take all the input I can get, liz! better too much than too little. And people are being very nice to me too - bringing me food, and one of my neighbors did our laundry
:)
ty for in6 how about in8?
not guilty, cos
not guilty, Cos
I swear I didn't do it
Enough clues Cos?
fireworks!
I'm going to nominate Sue's neighbor for neighbor of the year. I can't imagine doing someone else's laundry. That was above and beyond.
Congrats Sue!
WTG uu!!!
she is a real sweetheart, molly!

hi all
Hi Peri
sue, glad Frank is doing a little better today.
Hi Peri
back to find my last 36 words
sue you are lucky to have such nice friends and neighbors
Wow Sue. Just read your update on Frank. He's lucky that he had that appt. and that the surgery was don't quickly
Hi Peri :)
1/2 way babbling 1/2 way watching Clash of the Titans
my window is all pretty with the christmas lights up --- no don't freak my tree isn't up yet -- not til next weekend
lol...nice cos
we always do ours the day after Thanksgiving
theres only 43 days left. i want to enjoy the tree as long as i can :)
true
I'm afraid to put a tree up anymore. I have 3 crazy cats who I can just envision hurling themselves at the tree and breaking ornaments and lights. I miss the tree but I'd miss the cats more. Now I have to go to my son's house for Christmas decor.
Hi, mimi! You could decorate the cat tree with cat treats :-)
hi Sue
I was concerned with my cats but only had one problem in 5 years.. my cat ran and attacked the tree, it fell on him. never tried it again. also a hint: leave bottom tree empty no ornaments.. harder for cat to reach
the first no6 please?
They have already torn a couple of posters off the wall, ripped my shower curtain, bitten through the speaker wire to my computer.....I've had cats most of my life but never ones like these. They were all 3 strays who found me. But I love 'em. Sue, hope things continue to go well and Frank recuperates quickly.
sue, I signed the guestbook for Frank on Caringbridge. my name there is periwinkle babble :)
hi bichon!
do you think Frank would like Reiki sent to him. he will speed up the healing process?
it will speed up.....
Just reading your profile notes. hioping for the best for Frank
I also have 3 cats, only one of them ever bothered the tree - I sprayed him, told him no and that was it
thanks so much, peri! And with what we are facing, we can use all the support we can get.
we never put any thing on the bottom either - nothing that dangles at least
was that a yes to the Reiki or not?
yes, peri, he would like that.
ok, will do, just need to let me know when/if he gets chemo or radiation. don't want to send during the process but can send after each session. will send some tonight.
hi all
hi jes
Thanks, peri! It will be three weeks before he starts chemo or radiation, I think (although we haven't seen an oncologist yet)
ello jes

2nd no6 please
gerund ending? (it is the second i have... don't know if it's the second on the list)
To see, cos.
Like the quality of rhyming, but replace p with an n
Cos, I am sorry, I gave you the 3rd no.
thanks, peach, i missed that one
yw, jes.
I was cluing the no6.
Ah, no6 science. The study of consciousness.
brookie is right, and that's the second one (and the p she referred to would be at the beginning)
Great clue, Brookie.
Thanks for clarifying. :-) I was going for speed rather than clarity.
yvw
You did okay Brookie. If it's an no word, we knew the replacement was at the beginning.
sorry, didn't mean to be snarky, falling apart a little here
You weren't snarky Sue.
finally FW!!
yay smores!
congrat smores
Congrats, smores!

May I please have a clue for any ri? Thanks

Sue, I called my sister-in-law, who is Spanish, and she didn't know it. I told her that I am beginning to question her heritage. LOL
Hi
Hey there, herin.
Does she drink wine Peach?
Hi
Even if she doesn't I would think she would know it, but then what do I know. : P
No, Molly.

The test of a good dictionary, for me, seems to be the no6; also the an7.
help with DE 7/36 please
I don't know. Nice that those words are included and all that. But I can't in all good conscience refer to Enable as a "good dictionary".
de + not off + facial twitch
Molly, you are absolutely right. I was referring to hardcovers.
Oh, I get it now Godth.
thnx molly
Enable is the fickle Aunt of the dictionary world
I think of enable as the demented uncle.. left in a closet
de7 the gum
That too ru
May I please have a clue for co6-36? Thanks

i have 2 de7.32 so far: 1st one sounds like a brand of chewing gum -- remove the last letter for a de6.21
de7/36 is de + not off + muscle twitch
second one: de6.21 means a lull in relations, ends with camping housing, plural for de7.32
de 7/36 - molly clued for me at 7:30

Is karst topography akin to the ce 8/21?
6.21
too deep for me
an6/18 clue please?
"deep" has implications for both
yes it is
the an 6 is the an 5 with an s
an6/18 is the first an6 word; there is no an5 before it to pluralize. thanks though.
What vehicles drive on ... av**ue or **reet
ah, thanks.
** finito ** last word SO 4/9 which means Asiatic leguminous herb, the seeds of which are used in preparing the sauce called soy. - which i submit as my "word of the day"
Congrats, wvteach. well done
yay teach!
Congrats, teach!
you got me curious about the karst and the ce6, BR, so I looked them up. ce6 is a single sinkhole, while karst is the whole topography, but they are indeed related (karst topography often has ce6s in it)
and yay teach!
Fun be curious
Asiatic leguminous herb...say that three times fast.
ce6s are also usually characterized by a fresh water source within them, too.
firewords. Last word was so5, to do with sound.
I am SO below my intelligence grade in this crowd.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Hi Min, pretty rose.
hi min, I'm well, but just on my way out, I think.

Hi again uusue...hoping all continues to be going well with Frank?!
Hello stid!
hi uu
Hello uusue2!How are you doing? Welcome back to the log
he's awake now, slept a lot during the day, is having trouble with nausea but is getting a little stronger too
It is a toxic place for me ... I may as well leave too.
babble is toxic? i am sorry you feel that way BR
i am glad frank is getting stronger
Sounds like overall he is doing better! And how are you uusue?
I am ok, jilly, had a bit of a meltdown while he was sleeping (because I felt like I could relax), and that actually helped
yes, it has been toxic for many of us, BR -- though I will sometimes check in to see if you and my other friends are here, I am not even playing much of the time. Just as well, I get more done in other things now.
((((uusue)))) I know it has been a very rough journey for the both of you!
I have found it to be quite supportive overall; every once in a while people get a bit snippy and then I just go do something else for a while
but you all mean a lot to me now and I am glad to be here
My thoughts exactly uusue
Hey Sue :) i heard happy news that Frank came thru the surgery really well..
anyway, it's late and the kiddo hasn't had supper. back another time. *poof*
he did, india, thanks! He has a long road ahead to heal and then go through whatever treatments are indicated (which we don't know yet), but we are on the way back to health.

Did you mention a hawaiian bird before Jilly (I was reading back) - can you clue it please? I don't know any!
*hands arthur a get out jail free card*
LOL..neX2
ot4/5 jmc
it is a common babble word liz: repeat the first two letters
oddly there appears to be no plural
ot 4/5 _ I'dve got there earlier but my computer kept reversing the o and t!!! Thanks for the bird!
i have automatic correct!
And so happy that there are two of them that are alive because I was watching carefully as I drove thru Volcano national Park
hahahahahhahahahaha
I've seen that word before but never checked the meaning! Now I know!!!!
I HATE automatice correct
so you saw the hawiaan goose? cool!
They aren't very big btw....
Automatic correct is worse on my iPad! I usually miss it!
Can't you turn auto correct off?
no? what is a comperable bird?
With the upgraded system on my Droid phone, it let't me choose before it auto corrects...
I just google imaged the bird - got a few amongst the women!!!!
dany jilly that is terrible. . .there must be some way to change that
A magpie...certainly not a regular goose size..
I guess I just hit enter too quickly (after checking enter isn't in the grid!!!!)
clue for an7/36?
an4/4 plus gerund end arthur
huh. . . i would have expected it to be larger. . .certainly looks like a goose
thanks
nbt
No jmc, I like the way it offers before just doing it...
Yay jmc!!
i misread what you wrote . . . i thought you said it didn't let you choose. . . another sign that i should go to bed soon. . .

Enough to be a nuisance!
But even with getting up at 6 AM there, it was 9 am here...and bedtime was the same....
Back later - forgot to clear up after lunch! Have a good evening! As I said, a nuisance!
Well, going to sign off myself...they say you should quit with electronic screens 30 minutes before bed...

First an 6/18 word please if you have it gapeach. Thanks!
Woops, don't have that or the one under it. Sorry, Min.
OK, how about the we 6/39 word? Do you have it gapeach?
an6: an + anagram of bird's home
an6/18 - put a cons in before the end of the an5/10 that follows
we6: what you a bully gives a child using his underwear
I got the an 6/18 word gapeach. Would you like a clue yet
