Cosdem, here you don't need a fireplace; in fact it's almost midnight and still warm enough that the front door's open. And the windows are never closed. You can always go up to Big Bear if you need to see snow, and the desert and the ocean are right here ... Paradise.

Don't think I could cope with it on a regular basis. Summer holidays in Europe - that was fine and the heat was dry, which helped.

exactly crossy. But worth it. Rubbing a big wad of kitchen paper (?) over the plates as soon as you take out the waffles helps a lot. But be careful not to burn your fingers.

thing is all bakelite it seems and springs on the power cords and it hums loudly when running..i swear it must have its own transformer in its guts somewhere.i have to set the entire thing on a large cooking tray on to of the oven and it has they giant locking spring clips.gets to around 2000 degrees i am sure! lol

Absolutely do the home nurse. My best friend is taking care of her 83-year-oldl mother who fell and broke a hip and it is just about killing her. Her mother doesn't want a "stranger" in the house. Typically, she doesn't care how hard it is for her daughter...don't even get me started on that one.

Frank has been coughing up some yucky stuff and is in a lot of pain
sue, How is Frank doing? Any relief from the nausea and vomiting?
Oh dear
he went into emergency surgery on Thursday, annie, turned out a bit of his bowel near the ostomy site had died
so they took it out; then they were able to reverse the ostomy since the other surgical site lower down had healed
so that fixed the nausea but they had to open up the original incision again so the healing process starts all over again
it has been one heck of a ride
and now the coughing with pain. Sometimes if he has to cough he can hold a pillow against his abdomen (if he can without too much pain) and then cough. Yes, it has been one hell of a ride for both of you.
Sue, have you been home since all this started?
he's got the pillow, annie, but things are very tender so it's tough
I haven't, molly, I did go out once and bought underwear (don't laugh, I needed it anyway, now when I do get home I can throw away the old shredded ones)
my house depresses me and I don't really want to go there
also the animals will be all over me
It would probably do you a world of good to get out of that hospital, even if it's not to go home. Maybe when people come to visit, you can take a break.

I have a feline buddy that comes to my front deck almost daily, for a few months now. A sweet, cuddly Siamese with stunning blue eyes. I feed him and love him up. Word is that he belongs to a neighbor.
he lost a bunch of weight. the vet tested his blood and urine. some kidney levels were just slightly elevated, nothing serious, so she just had me switch him to wet food. only the whole reason he's always been a skinny cat is that he is just not that into food. and with wet food you have to consume more volume to get the same calories. so it has been a challenging few weeks getting him to a point where he is willing to eat what he should.

I'm not crazy about Phoenix, either, but have stayed here because my (grown) kids are here. However, as they get older I'm liking them less and less so considering a move to Seattle or somewhere else with regular rain. Miss thunderstorms.
I spent Christmas there every year for most of my 23-year marriage. There used to be a Chinese restaurant in Farmington that had great dinner rolls but I can't remember the name. The rolls tasted a bit like King's Hawaiian. Really good and for some reason they sold the rolls by themselves.
i thought it was interesting, when i was in phoenix, that i kept driving over little concrete rivers (drains or irrigation?) and i assumed that residents could see how much water they had just by the levels in the little rivers

I was raised in the Cincinnati area and am glad that's where I grew up---really good people. Bugs, I'd LOVE to move to Seattle. It's so beautiful there. I can spend hours at Pike's Place Market. The ferry rides are amazing, too. Love looking at the San Juans. No state income tax in WA and no state sales tax in OR, so you live in WA and shop in OR. I need to live somewhere cold, Gwen, as these days I look so much better with more clothes on.
