Hi all -- power just came back on here.
ah jilli, was waiting to see if your power came back
Cheers
Yes, cheers indeed!
Now I'll go to bed! Just thought I'd let you know.
incidentally, received a response re your email - another person here on the island had problems - which Master Card did cover
hey jilli, glad to see you back with us. sleep well, hun
I am in the same boat. I am now on my 3rd compromised Master Card in less than a month. Fortunately all expenses were covered by Master Card -$6000 on the first. I have used the latest one very infrequently so I think I may be able to track who on SSI has a problem with their equipment. I find it more annoying than frightening since Master Card is alert enough to contact us.
Thanks -- more on that another time, flosey.
this is quote from her
Flosey, I think it's Thrifty's -- they have that PayPass thing.
thanx to everyone for your loving concern. i am feeling so much better these last few weeks. i am sure work will be fine.
oh oh, we do a lot of shopping there
I didn't have any expenses charged to me these last times.
am sure they'd like to hear about it
I plan to phone them tomorrow.
Now I must be off -- goodnight all (see you at bridge, flosey)
good, so now off to bed, yes, am playing with Pat S
goodnight all
OOps -- just saw email -- I won't be at bridge after all -- J still not up to it.
oh dear, perhaps someone else?
talk to you tomorrow
OK, flosey
granny got a app in a hour xx
okay, sarah, hope and pray all goes well
i will email you when i get home granny hope he gives me something for my head
with you every step of the way, sweetheart.
thank you granny xx hugs

Hi Annie. I am glad to hear that you and Bobby are back home.

Still in the hospital--many complications, but improving. TY for remembering him.
He is still in my prayers.
I found the 10 by myself. eq10

Hi Lz
Hi Liz
cool little typos today :)
good morning everyone;)
hi crossy
Hi crossy :)
hi Crossy
My car was totaled..going to look at a Honda Civic..thinking of a lease
poor annie;(
love hondas
from Sandy?
the civics have awsome life span
Have driven a Jazz for the past 7 years - in UK and here
glad to hear that Liz
yes, from Sandy
Sorry about your car though Annie
Did you have full coverage?
I know it is a compact...Liz, is it comfortable?
and do not forget to look at the toyota line as well annie
smores, My car was 14 years old so I dropped collision and comphrensive..I get nothing but the car was a good car
Yes - very! Had my own car in UK (the Jazz) as we both worked but now in Aus I share it with my hubby, who also loves it
Yes, I will look at Corollas
It also has great vision - found the side mirrors much better than the toyota I tried
I'm so sorry :(
I am looking at a 3 year lease at 195.00 a month
collision only adds 68 dollars a year to my insurance,so i just keep it on
collision here is very very expensive
nice inexpensive lease,as long as they are not too nitpicky when it comes time to turn it in
Hope you weren't in your car when it was totalled!
I will ask about that, crossy
Liz, my car was totaled because of the water surge during Hurricane Sandy
our leases are notorious for every little mark and smudge.most just buy them out at the end
Ah! The Sandy reference. Silly me not picking that up!
I might do that, will think of buying the car at the end but right now I am very excited about having a new car.
was it garaged?
No, it was in an open parking lot. The lot was like a sea.
It's great having a new car. The Jazz was new when we moved here - the first and most likely only new car we'll ever have!
Saw film last year of the floods in Brisbane washing cars away!
wow, again, so sorry
Nothing to compare with Sandy though!
i bought my toyota echo new in 2004 all cash from cigarette money and am still driving it.it will be 9 years old next april and is bulletproof it is so reliable
It's great when you find a car that you love and can rely on.
crossy, just shows how much money we spent on cigarettes.
it is indeed liz
But congrats on getting a new car, just sorry it's under such bad circumstances
December 7th will be 28 years I have stopped smoking.
thanks, smores
That's awesome!
yup wife and i saved 2 years and it was $12,160.00 was 100 off the sticker price of the new car
WTG annie
WOW
<-----my last bad habit :(
that was when smokes were 7.50 a pack.they are now 11-12 here
cigarettes were about $1.50 a pack when I stopped. They around 11.00 a pack now, hard to believe
indeed annie
about 15 grand a year for 2 people
wow they $5 a pack here
expensive and dangerous habit
Great if you're that disciplined about saving the ciggy money!
they were 7.50 back on '04 eek
had a big jar in the living room liz.every day the mrs and i put the price of a pack of smokes into it and 2 years to the day i spent an afternoon rolling all the coin
indeed smores
That's great - watching the money grow!
and thats not counting one bic lighter each a month at 1.50 per so thats 48 lighters in 2 years
Some incentive!
However, I guess that the health incentive you wrote about a few weeks ago was probably greater!
indeed
my mrs has now lost both her mum and dad directly due to cigarettes
Has anyone got any clues for the 2nd qu 5 and qu 6? That's after the word to do with paper size.
sorry, don't have it yet
qu5----***th the raven, nevermore and not out
OK I see! tyvm!
youre welcome
ty annie
youre welcome
plural it
thanks annie
I think I'll leave the grid for now - it's 10.48 and I guess I should leave the computer a while before I sleep! 46 for tomorrow. Any clues wanted before I go or is it too early for you?
too early yet for me but ty
Good Night Liz - sleep well
sweet dreams, Liz
:) too early for me too
Enjoy your days! Hopefully see you again tomorrow :)

"Aposiopesis" is the official name of the rhetorical style in which you deliberately fail to complete a sentence. ("Why you…")
it is really bad today. : (
wow...there is a word for everything, eh?
I don't believe...
Yes, but is it in Enable?

Thanks to an anonymous benefactor.
Very cool!
Hi Mimi, congrats on going pro. Sending good vibes your way.
Thx, Annie!
come...soak up the love that is Babble Land....
Will do, car.
OK...so has anyone else seen those crappy Dewar's ads yet?
howdy mimi:))
nope
They are so bad. I can't believe anyone thought it was a good campaign.
What are they like, car?
Mimi, you've gone pro. Woo Hoo!! Good morning everyone
(((Mom))) good morning
This scottish woman, rambling on...quick shots...and then she says, "Are you thirsty, Angus" and runs away.
Good morning, Mom!
(((Annie))) good morning. How are you?
Hi, Mom!
((Car.)) good morning
morning, all
Hi Mimicat
Keep your fingers crossed, friends...this should be the last day of construction!!!! However, I will miss my "boys" terribly!
Hey, feel silly calling you Mom since I'm older than you!!
Hi ((TO))
Good morning TO!
Im okay. Going to lease a new Honda Civic today. My car was deemed totaled.
Morning, TO. Got 'em crossed, car.
:-) not by much mimi
oh Annie, that is horrible. I'm sorry.
Oh dear! Good luck Annie!
Hi Owl :)
Take care, Annie ((hugs))
Someone is smoking something at Dewars, Car.
Annie, you'll love the Honda. I've owned 2 and my daughter has one.
oh my, annie!
Have you seen them, Molly?!?! And good morning!
Mimi, so glad to hear that.
Yes, and they are weird like ten.
they are reliable cars
Loved our Honda too. We had 2, Alex still drives the 1996 one
I saw an ad for Dolce and Gabbana that looked like soft porn to me.
All these good recommendations for the Honda, so a Honda Civic it will be.
The sexy ads kind of backfire on some of us who are older because they annoy us, right? Not exactly relevant to my life these days.
OH, don't get me started on THOSE type of ads!
Mom, I thought my car was old. It was a Taurus '99. So a '96 Honda is still running, great.
Hi Molly :)
please can someone clue the lower S from the rh column
se 4/4
Been lurking and had to throw this comment in: Sold my '91 Honda to a neighbor several years ago...he is still driving it! Morning all.
Hi Jivingjenny!
I bought one new in the early 80's and still sold it for $1500 5 years later.
i bought my toyota out at the end of the lease.my theory has always been as long as the monthly upkeep and repairs never excedd the original monthly lease payment, then you are good to go,but once they start exceeding a monthly lease payment it is time to retire the car
wow, pcal
Every time my Jag broke down, each tow truck driver told me I should get a Honda!
of course in almost 9 years,i have done the brakes once.changed a tail light buld and it is the third set of tires,so it has never exceeded a lease payment
I know...sometimes regret selling it.
I have to get ready, see you later
bulb
bye annie
jags are very finicy.i find you are forever tuning them up.especially the 12 cyl models
bye bye Annie
Bye, Annie! Go get that car!
finicky
hi pcal, glad you came out of lurk mode
and now that ford own jaguar, all bets are off!
are there two eq wors?
I love that car but she's broken down in Atlanta and will stay there with my friend. Besides, couldn't drive her anyway til I pay off my speeding tickets! She's a 1993 XJS convertible and her name is Miss Kitty.
I'm so bad about typing word list words in the chat box I seldom come out...and now I'll sink back down again while I'm still ahead!
nice to see you pcal
Thx, Mom. Bye.
bye bye
TO, are you still here?
barely
lol.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving?
i don't know, thanks to Sandy. maye CT with sil's sister

Hello, Hurshy.

Last year of elementary school, if you can believe it, and doing great. Between them band, orchestra, chorus, and taekwon-do, not to mention friends and other hobbies. And so much more interesting to be around than babies! =D

suze!!
((sprite))
*hugs crossy* Love your invite for WwF!
Yes, I've been well, thanks, sprite. How are you hanging in there?
pretty good, Vic! Working very hard in therapy and it is taxing, but finally I get something out of it. So that is good :)
physical therapy or mental, sprite?
Good. Most things give back in relation to how much you put into them.
mental, hursh. And including living with my physical handicaps.
yeah i likes my therapy too
true, Vic. I have been putting a lot into it for years on end, though, without getting much further. Finally found the right form for the therapy.
I won't say I _like_ my therapy. I hate going and I often am almost a zombie when I go home. But it works. That makes it worth everything.
omg I found the 10 right away. Never happened before.
Well, I'm glad to hear it's finally providing some help.
yeah me too :D How is the grid today?
I'm finding it a fun one. Lots of big words that aren't too obscure, and then you get to feel clever for finding them.
hi, all, am writing an update on caring bridge, will be back here in a minute. So far so good.
:) Indeed. *dives in with happy anticipation*
nice, got the ten as my second word :)
*hugs sue*
Go, mael, go!

Now I am back.

Hi and bye, vicuna!
bye!
Bye Vic, have a good one!
wb sue. How are you? Do you manage to take care of yourself a little bit too?
I do, sprite, yesterday I got my hair washed and cut, which was REALLY nice. I feel much more human with clean hair.
oh that is wonderful! Good choice for some YOU-time. Having to stay put, having someone fuss over you pleasantly, and prettying up to booth.
clue for the a that is under the q please
ar4 x 2, at5 & 6
two have to do with the heart, cross
a + last part of danger : pe***
Good morning, all. Found the tenner right away. Yay, me!
hi Judi! Yay you!
hi judi!
Yay Judi!!!
or and Hi again all :)
*oh
hi smores :)
back for a few, got my light breakfast and dark coffee :) - I'm ready!
waiting for hubby to come home. He will be home very early today, shop and make us nice sandwiches. We have an appt with the parenting helper at our normal dinner time.
Parenting helper?
yeah, not sure how to call it. We have this service here. When you have trouble with how to be a good parent for your kids, you can get advice. Today we go with our son, trying to sort out how to handle our wayward teenagere.
cool, hope it helps :)
is your son looking at it as a positive thing or are you dragging him kicking and screaming
lol so do I! It is our 2nd apptm, the first already gave us some tools. And I am very happy our son agreed to come too, without problems. That makes things a lot easier and gives us hope.
I thought I had to coerce him. But I told him we would like him to come and he just said: "Ok, cool."
sptire.we used such a service here for a year or 2 and it proved invaluable for both our son and us
I was flabbergasted... but in a very positive way, grin.
thanks, crossy. That is so good to hear. I am so glad we are not the only parents who sometimes feel like we have to do a job that nobody every taught us to do.
lol, sprite. Your teen was probably thinking the parenting helper was going to tell YOU all the things you were doing wrong.
That's great, that sounds like he wants things to improve as well. You will all get through this :)
good luck, sprite!
Wow, I wish we'd had something like that here! Good for you, sprite!
well, when you have a child with develpmental delays as well,it can be a good idea to get views from people who are outside the tornado of it all with fresh new ideas and tools to help everyone succeed
we were glad it was available
LOL....you are definately not alone sprite...none of them came with a manual.
Judi: and he is probably right! She wants us to be stricter, grin. But on the other hand, she wants us to give him rewards... seems teenagers can be truly motivated by earning ... what is the word... you know, special things.
yes, they need structure as well as a carrot
our kids are pretty normal, as far as normal is anything definable anyway. But this teenager time is tough, and Tim started to run away from home, be physically agressive and was ignoring it when we said he couldn't go out. So we had to do something.
I commend you for working to make everyone's lives easier, sprite. Not having children, I can't really relate. But, working at a police station, I have seen plenty of majorly disfunctional families. Sometimes I think parenting classes should be optional at certain milestone ages in a child's life.
you will be glad you did this sprite.good move indeed
(((sprite))) parenting is not easy!!
I think it would be fun if you all donned sumo suits, jumped in a moon bounce and body slammed out all of your frustrations.
Judi, in all honesty, I think those classes should be obligatory. Some very simple things can make such a difference. For instance: as a parent you try to be patient and calm, you don't get mad at first, second, third... you really try to understand... you get madder... until it blows up. And then someone tells you: Be stricter, and do it long before you start to get mad. Mannnn of course... why didn't I realise sooner?
I agree Judi, there are a lot of classes and services available here for newborns - but not much for when they get all hormonal, defiante, and sometimes unrecognizable....hard headed, stubborn, know-it-alls...lazy, sleep all the time, pod people....
LOL...I could got on...
off to get some breakfast, bbs
lol @ pod people
la
they call it "Center Young" here. They do everything from newborns to adolescents. Courses, .... what is that word... where you can simply make an apptm and go for advice, like a doctor?... and they even have help when things are really bad, though they have to bring in outside specialists then as well.
yes, pod people..."Help...al6 stole my daughter"
I believe they call it "counseling" here.
LOLOL! Yes, pod people. Who is this arrogant, moody, angry monster that took the place of my kid?
There are varying degrees of counseling, of course. Verbal and behavioral modification all the way on up to boot camp!
ah exactly, counseling. That is it. Sorry, I have had a bad 2 days and my head refuses to come up with the english words I need.
you got it, Judi. That is it. We are in the verbal and behaviour stage.
I actually took my daughter by the shoulders before, got right in her face, shook her and said "WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY DAUGHTER"
S'okay, sprite. Pod people can have that affect on you.
roflol smores! Did it work? *taking notes here*
*grin* ain't that the truth, Judi :)
not immediately, but yes it did help
Off to an appointment. Catch you kids later! *POOF*
my inner mantra is: only one thing is harder than being a parent to a teenager... and that is being a teenager.
bye Judi! Have a good one.
Of course she had never seen the movie so she just thought I was nuts when I called her a pod person. We both laugh about it now :)
yes sprite that is soo true.
are the ae words very oscure?
Hi TO, yes
ty
ae9 is pl for the 8 so just 1 weird word :)
jelly fish protein. who knew.
Atalante would have known, lol
yw, hairy dophin alert
i have typed that word at least 100 times over the years in here and every single solitary time it comes up as a clue,i can never remember it:(
in4/4
my son says he will get even with me and name his first child that word so i will never remember the poor kids name..lol
ah ty sprite
spend my declining years calling my grandson dolphin boy:/
*giggles* He will grow into it eventually... when he is old enough to grow a mustached
lol
moustache... mustache... tsssss
<--- braindead
worry not,i am not a spelling nazi
yaaa! found my last 8..it was slippery;))
Hi kids. Crossy, I have one 7, no 8's or 9's and one 10. Toss out some clues, please.
kk oi 8 is the act of being slippery with car lubrication
sl 8 is not moving very fast
brb
wi8= being crafty or sneaky
TY
lol...I thought your oi8 clue would include twister
and ae8 is a tough one, think it has to do with jellyfish
lol smores
hello scras. everything back to normail in nj?
jelly fish protien TO says
My sister got her power back after 10 days and is fone.
She is fine too
Jelly fish protein?
scras, i almost hit a doe last night
that's great scrabbler
last part of that word sounds a bit like the mid east prayer book..sort of
The deer are rutting and running
i thought that was in january
yup deer are getting busy here as well
well we were hiking and they were might frisky, ut then again they have absolutely no fear - no predators
always november, that way they have their young in may or june
Wildlife need to look both ways before crossing the road.
we need to stop puttin asphalt paths through their land and blasting along it at 80 mph
yes, and not jaywalk by crossing where there are no signs. i tell you , that doe has some sore knees today
Yes, the wildlife is impacted by us taking their land away.
if the road has been there since the time of George Washington i think THEY need to move
deer were there before ole george
yes crossy, of course you are correct
timne to go
wonder how george ate deer steaks with wooden teeth?
Very slowly and carefully
at least he always had a tooth pick handy
Haha
and personally, i care more about my safety in the situation of driving along an urban road.
everyone better slow it down at this time of year there
we have a road here that bisect a natural deer crossing to a water source so we just slow it down 20 k till the season is done
lots of citiots leave their cars in our wrecking yards this time of year though
Yep, I go sl4. And I have deer whistles on my car.
yes, deer or moose blowers def help
i have some moose blowers on my car as well
Moose blowers? I have to look those up. No moose here...yet...but they are in the Adirondack Mtns and I go there twice every summer.
thing is,in most cases you will only hit a moose at highways speeds once
any clues for the 9s or the ten?
my god father hit a moose and he was lucky to walk away with his life, the pick up truck was totally destroyed even though it never went off the road at all
they had to cut him out of the truck
10 = eq = adjective for life in hot zone
I do not have the 9's
wow...well I had the hot zone :) thank you...didnt even think to add the ending
I'm back, my sister called about Thanksgiving menu :)

Baby steps toward healing for Frank, then comes chemo. Remind him that this is a marathon, an Iron Man, not a sprint or short run.
yes, we are working on menta/emotional issues as well; the setback he suffered last Wednesday was very difficult for him (but he is over it and we have talked it out a lot)
Long road ahead for you both, but you will make it :)
in fact he is talking about it right now to a visitor :-)
we will indeed, smores!
It is what it is, focus on healing.
And things could always be worse, so look ahead. And distract a worried mind.
hello everybody

how's it going jilly? stormy here, but so far we still have power.
Just windy here, my head cold is better...got an early day...life is pretty good..
bye lynxxx
glad the cold is better. I got a terrible attack of allergies at the convention (not unexpected) and feel like I am recovering from a cold, but it's not bad today.
so other than allergies how was your trip?
It was good, smores -- I learned a LOT, attended about 8 workshops and made time to see some of the people who had posters to present and also visit the exhibit hall for an hour. I was busy! LOL didn't do the evening things (a dance and a lecture) because I was so tired.
Did you drive or fly? I'm pretty sure mine was from the 6 hour flight from Hawaii.
I drove to Seattle, and made a last-minute (a week ahead) decision to get a hotel room for two nights so I only had to make the commute once. Theoretically I could have driven up and back each day, but I was so tired by evening that I was glad I didn't push.
I was glad to have a quiet space for down-time in the evenings.
Did you get to go the see O'connor?
oh, i stepped away for a minute, and now flosey's gone - if anyone sees her tell her to have lots of fun at bridge
I did not -- that was in the middle of Saturday, and my allergies were so bad (think running faucet) that I needed to just find a quiet corner and take some Benadryl. I was sad to not attend that event, but it gave me a chance to see the exhibit hall, and that was nice.
flosey's flown... *wicked mama grin*
hey kate
oh definately worth getting a room, glad you didn't try to drive back and forth
hi stiddie... i'm preparing to go as well - it's the witching hour for me soon
well, if I had, I wouldn't have done the three hours on Sunday morning. And it was a good 2-hour workshop on how to adapt classroom tasks to meet the needs of all kids
already? oh... I guess so! LOL I keep thinking it's still morning here. And it's well into the afternoon.
is there anyone lurking that needs a clue?

So, the funny Thanksgiving story this year is about my dizzy friend who called the gourmet market inquiring about turkey prices and when the guy said 199, she thought he meant 199 dollars, not 1.99 per pound. : D
1.99 is expensive enough, let alone 199.00
... Could be she was looking for a really, really big turkey ...
had some friends order a turducken last christmas just to try it. I know it was over 100 bucks!
No, she asked specifically about a 20 pound turkey. I'm still laughing that she though ANY turkey was 199 bucks.
Better yet, when she asked about the Bell & Evans turkeys, he told her they were 340. : D
yikes, is that organic turkey?
Yes, some kind of froo froo organic gourmet brand. Like there is anything gourmet about a turkey.
where do you think Turquois comes from?

I know someone whose husband and sons used to hunt turkeys. It was not unusual for them to have four or five in the freezer. That they had plucked and dressed themselves. Now that's down home livin'.
wild turkey? where?! crossy will have 3 finger pour over ice please:))

We always get a turkey from the Hutterite colony. Nice fresh bird, no hormones etc, 28# this year: $45.30
And, we have tons of wild turkeys around here, someone should start 'harvesting' them! They poop on everything...

Hi indiajan!
hi again all!
Hi uusue, very heartened by your latest post on Frank1
hi uusue and indiaJan gl:)
the surgeon was just in and said we need to "challenge his system" tomorrow (since he is still very gassy and distended, and doesn't want to eat). I guess this is good but it sounds scary.
It does sound daunting...
maybe they just want him to walk a lot? He would probably walk more but keeps falling asleep.
Walking actually would aide both his lungs and the bowels. It increases motility..might decrease his gas (flatus in nursy speak).
it does make him burp a lot (which hurts). But he can't go alone, and I'm not comfortable taking him myself with all the things he's attached to. Maybe we should be more assertive about getting him up (but again, he did just wake up). He's been walking about twice a day.
And it's good all around not to stay in bed...builds up strength
he's in a chair but it's not that different from being in bed
I would encourage him to get up once an hour and just walk around in room a bit..no need to move his 'tethers'
Flatus? I thought he was Cletus's brother.
And they hopefully have patient care aides that you could access to ambulate.
good idea. will do.
*sticks tongue out at Molly* ;P
they do, we just have to ask.
Have they considered starting any Physical Therapy. An eval might do him some good and getting them to walk him around.

I'm doing ok, Jan, there is a little single bed in Frank's room that I can sleep in which is actually pretty comfortable
Good, glad to hear :)
Hi, all. Sue, is Frank home yet? I've been a little out of the loop trying to get some things taken care of here. Thought I was going to have two terrible days but things resolved and now I'm FREE. Hey, where's our smores?
Good morning from Aus! Hope Frank's feeling a bit better, Sue, if you're still here. Hi Mimi.

Hi crossy!
Hi again
hi mimi, Frank is here at least until Wednesday
There's my gal!!!

{{mimi}}
Good luck Sue - I guess there might also be a bit of a psychological barrier there too - hopefully not.
Have you guys heard of "demotivators?" They are parodies of those motivational pictures with captions you see in offices. They are from a site called despair.com and they are hilarious. Check it out. You'll love them.
BIG psychological barriers, liz
but we'll work on them
I've seen those, mimi, they are a hoot
You'll win!
They come in calendars, too and the t-shirts on the site are great. The one I want simply says "Vintage" on the front....and ain't it the truth!
I will definately check them out Mimi :)
Psych is my field, Sue, if you need to bounce ideas around. Always glad to help anytime.
ah, good to know, mimi. Thanks.
i want a shirt that spells bacon out using table of element tiles
hi crossy!
suze!!
One of my favorite demotivators is a picture of a grizzly bear catching a salmon in his mouth at a waterfall. The caption reads "The journey of a thousand miles often ends very badly."
:)
crossy loves demotivational posters
Next year I'm giving calendars with "appropriate" posters for each person.
A wonderful, personalised idea!
Sue, my ex says it's appropriate for me to be in psychology since I am a psycho....he may have a point but that's also one reason we are divorced!
sounds like you made the right choice there, mimi!
Amen and hallelujah!
BTW, Sue, LOVE the new pic!
I put up a new one every day, mimi, it's the astronomy picture of the day
One of my best friends is a tenured prof in astrophysics and gets a lot of NASA grants. He'd like this one for sure.
I was a tenured prof in physics until I retired in June
Also love the pic, Sue.

I know, isn't it funny, smores? I printed them all out and make copies for people. You can individualize the calendars with whatever ones you pick. Really appeals to my warped sense of humor.
the town library had power so he would go there to get warm food and send me email :-)
he and i probably were hooked uy about the same time then, I called it twelfth night! didn't get cable/internet/tv until this past weekend, but who's complaining??
I talked to him a day or two ago and his living room was back up to 80 degrees where he likes it
ah, he doesn't have cable/internet/TV (just an antenna) so no issue there for him
oh my. 80? i'm used to 68, but I couldn't hack it at 40!! He's made of stronger stuff
is the tree off your house?
it is, to the tune of $2000. Still need some repairs done... still need an insurance adjustor to cme look at it.
His living room got down to 55, I think, but not lower (at least not that he told me); he has big east-facing picture windows so it heats up fast
ui
sorry.. don't know how that happened.
well, at least it's gone, and it sounds like the damage to your house was relatively minor - does it still look that way now that the tree is gone?
lol...Mimi...I am known to be slightly left from center myself :)
Just one more thing I like about you, smores!
;)
hm... there is some damage at the peak of the roof... tiles along the edge somewhat ripped up, don't know about the rest. We'll see... And a huge piece of gutter is ripped up and twisted. But the house is still standing, no major damages. hello smores and mimi
OK, folks, done for now. Need to unwind from a very stressful couple of days. Hugs to all.
bye, mimi, take care of yourself!

he gets painful gas when he eats, molly, and the bloating may be an indication that his upper bowel isn't really moving yet

and happy alinng all
night, TO!
Sweet dreams, TO.
Do the doctors think the pancreas is part of the bloating problem, Sue?
Hello all and especially uusue -- I've been keeping up with Frank as you may know
no, as far as they know his pancreas is fine, BR, probably it is just his small intestine which has now been operated on twice in six days
hi jilli!!
how are you doing, jilli? It sounded like you were having some trouble as well
Sue, as I remember from my own experience (not as traumatic as Frank's), the poor old exhausted gut takes it's own sweet time to recover. Until there's gurgling, it's saying "Please let me rest!"
se5-12 please....thanks
I'm feeling better today, thanks, Sue -- see the GP on Friday.
well, some of it is gurgling, but he's had two resections and one repair so it may take the whole thing a while to work together in a useful way
I wonder what the surgeon has in mind for tomorrow.
so do I, jilli!
I bet!
Borborygmi: Rumbling sounds caused by gas moving through the intestines, commonly referred to as stomach "growling"). Pronounced BOR-boh-RIG-mee. The singular is borborygmus.
Can you all see my new icon -- not the flag?
I got him up walking, we'll walk again (jillyjill suggested getting him at least up and taking a few steps around his chair every hour), and maybe I can get him to drink some juice
I see it on your profile, jilli, but will have to reload babble to see it in the chat
clear juice, like apple
and you look very good :-)
OK, just wanted you to know I'm no longer in hiding.
cranberry is what he wanted, he had a few ounces this morning and nothing since
but cranberry is a bit acidic, isn't it?
yes; I'll see if he wants apple instead. Good thinking.
he's been having ice chips all along, but that's not the same
Guess what? I never even started this grid!
Oh, I know about ice chips. Wasn't even allowed them at first. Just a mint-flavoured swab on the dry lips.
I worry that some of this may be psychological, as he's had a lot of issues around food all his life anyway, and getting REALLY sick just after starting to eat post-surgery was very hard on him - he said he was almost suicidal, thinking that this is what the rest of his life would be like
he knows now that it won't, and that all the trouble he had was in fact a sign that things were wrong, even if he didn't know what
Oh dear, poor guy! Please assure him it won't always be so hard. There are so many delicious gluten-free things available, and even more to come -- or whatever else is needed, with so much more information coming in.
I think there are sign is building some resilience.
I know - and apparently a lot of what's been giving him trouble was the Crohn's, probably been developing that over the past 10 years, and then the cancer, which has to have been there for several years as well
signs he is
I think so too, BR
he's had a LOT to deal with in a very short time
Scrabs pretty much laid it out there this morning.
I'll have to go back and see what she said
I didn't see that -- what did she say?
Hi
