Cracked a tooth tonight, so have to try to get my dentist tomorrow... not looking forward to that, and mad at myself for eating popcorn.

wtg, rose!
Enough for now. BBL
thanx to all of you, for congrats
wtg rose :)
later perhaps liz
Then if I get nbt listless, I try for nbs too, but often have to give in. We all have our own ways to play, and our own skills. What I love about Babble is the fact that it's cooperative, not competitive (except for ruru and dart, lol).
{{{sarah}}}}
hi sarah
{{[[rose}}}} how are you xx
lol, jili
wtg grannybabe
Waiting for one more Christmas present to arrive, and then I am finished!!!
wtg rose - was away for a bit
good for you Dee
:) i done xmas bits now :) dee
we're pretty well finished - except for each other
Ty.. wtg, sarah! That is the last one I am waiting for, flosey, one for hubby :)
Woohoo, I got all my pressies couriered to the family today! I do this in case of bad weather and cancelled ferries when I plan to travel there.
smart move jilli
Very smart.
me and hubby not doing each other this year as girls wanted laptops and phones and tablets cost a bomb lol
sarah, had a rough day at work...very busy...had painkillers at 10am...then completely forgot/didn't have time until i arrived home. :( okay now though.
Very generous of you to do all that, sarah.
Awww, so sorry, rose.
yes, Sarah, it is indeed
hugs rose
We just give little things, but that means lots of them. And they're all adults now, plus special friends. I had about 30 presents to wrap. Oof, at my age.
and mother mac had a really bad angina attack just as i was leaving this am. i waited until the amblance arrived, then left don in charge. all is well, she is home again now.
girls will always come 1st and xmas is for them unless you are rosie then it her birthday that come 1st lol
Yikes, granny! More power to your elbow!
oohhh, so many hugs...i feel so special
Wow, what a day, gran.
is mother mac ok hun
sarah, you are heroic.
lol, jilli. only panicked a little today...and, yes, my dear friends, she is fine....nearly 94 years old...have to expect this.
You are fortunate to have ambulance so close.
Well, I need to get going, so I can be up in time to track down the dentist. Have a great day / eve all!!
dee, the system is very good over ere. they send out a MICA trained team, who assess the patient, and they decide what sort of ambulance to call.
rose i have a bp monter fitted on fri and have to keep it on all weekend then hopefully they will give me something to bring bp down
* sigh * that would be 'here'
nite volley
nite dee xx
night, dearest dee. i do so hope yo rest and sleep well tonight
*poofing with hugs!!*
night Dee, sweet sleep
We're pretty lucky here too, on an smallish island with ambulances arriving promptly. My ankle anniversary was Dec 10 at about 11 pm and the ambulance was there in about 15 minutes that night.
sarah, should be interesting. when i had the bp monitor overnight, they discovered how LOW my bp went overnight.
lets hope it say something as still feel so unwell :( about time doctors sorted it now and still waiting on bloods
interesting indeed, granny
and at work, the doctor found out how high my bp went. * grin * you should have seen his face. jilli, i have sleep apnoea, or rather hypopnoea. this drps my bp a lot when i sleep.
I bet!
emma has it were she stops breathing for a few secs we hopeing she grows out of it
Do you need that masky gizmo thing for sleeping or is hyponoea not severe enough?
Hubby had apnoea but it wasn't really recognised then. I think it contributed to his too-early demise -- bp too high and then low, I guess, with huge strain on his heart which is what gave out at age 71.
In his sleep.
jilli, yes i need the mask and machine when i sleep. i use a CPA P machine every night. even after losing all the weight, i still use it. it's just not worth the risk.
arah, is emma on the big size for her afe?
Thank goodness, granny. I wish hubby had had that for years. He might still be here with me.
nbt at last!
No 8, 9, or 10
oh dear!!! *sarah*.....and *age*...sun is shining straight onto my screen...can hardly see it.
no rose emma is small for age she is 5 but in 3-4 year bits
jilli de9, someone who removes ice from fridge?
jilli, fr8, opposite of back + sk***, someone who glides over snow
OOh, granny -- we had snow here this morning, We're not down under, of course, unless you count being under snow. Not very much, really, but it makes tings awkward up here on a hill. Luckily, I have a wonderful neighbour who shovelled my driveway so that I could get out and deliver my Xmas packages to the courier.
Well, past bedtime, so I'll have to be satisfied with nbt and head to the pillow -- farewell all...*poof
nite jilibus x
pr10, past tense of pr9, abbreviation for not amateur, plural + **a la la + past tense of to consume
night, jilli. hope you rest and sleep well
wow, glad I saw that before I disappeared, granny -- tyvm!. Some guys say they have the 9 trouble when they mean one letter less, lol!
and I just found the (appropriate tonight) fr8, so NBS too!...*repoof happily
lol, the "guys" mean the gland which surrounds the urethral orifice. but that is actually spelled without the second hook letter.
rose can i have a clue for the y plz :)

ty :)
over half way, better get to bed, lots to do tomorrow
goodnight all, will be in and out tomorrow between chores

hey dachef
alhoa!! ;)
hey dachef....was looking after one of your compatriots today. he immigrated over to here 5 years ago.
Actually, I have a good friend who has just moved to Sydney. Still not sure if he's brilliant or insane.
rofl...yeah, i know what you mean.
sydney, probably not the best introduction to australia.
He thinks its amazing. Direct quote: 'I cant believe that people use sixpacks of beer as passports.'
lol, dachef....
dachef..... i'm probably biased....but melbourne, hobart, and adelaide are all good jumping off points.
good evening
hey lyn
I think the main reason for my friend's move was work. Myself, I'm moving to Toronto in the new year.
hi Rose
ooohhhh, yo need to look ot for flosey and jilli, then
nice grid, lyn, moves smoothly until about the last 20 or so.
doesn't look like its got 274 words in it
We babblers are everywhere....when the revolution comes, and the walls of civilisation finally crumble into dust, when governments fall - it is the Babblers that will have the biggest network in the world!!!!
why the move to Canada Dachef?
rofl....so true dachef
Moving for work.

There are, I'm sad to say, very few prospects in S.Wales.
well good luck to you, dachef

Film, and we're relaunching this: www.youhaveonenewmessage.com as a transmedia thingie with games and downloads and apps and all that technological bits.
good...you've been at it a long time so good something is happening for you
yup, its been a while!! But it is those who are crazy enough to believe they can change the world that do.
Yes
cannot believe this..just removed an earring and cannot find it after i dropped it...
ah, well...dinner is being served...happy babbling to all my fellow babblers. see you after the flip tomorrow.;)
bye rose.

time for a break - bye Dachef
Take care, Lynxxx.
from wale to toronto...god help you dachef:(
good morning everyone
i am a northern boy so to me toronto is a seething cesspit of murder and drugs surrounded with a concrete jungle
and be ready,rent/home ownership is staggeringly expensive it is a sellers market for homes atm with vacancy of less than 1%. "starter" homes are fetching $450,000.00 rents in the downtown core start around 1700.00 per month
Morning, Crossy..you paint a very bleak picture of Toronto..there must be some positives to living over there?
Dachef, are you the author?
good morning all!
Morning, Scrambler.
Why don't elephants go skinny dipping? They can't get their trunks off.

A praying mantis has one ear.

duh, ty zooz
pr 9, I understand the concept, but I don't get the whole word, help
Sounds like a male gland with an extra letter
good clue, Molls
ty Molly
lots of people call the male gland that way
There is a whole dialect that adds extra r's to words. Like warsh.
Off they go.
...or you can drop your ahr's like we do here in Boston.

I sit on pins and needles all day now.

I am sorry BR...I did not. I will check them now.
TY BR! I just pulled them up and have saved them to my favorites to read on break today! I couldn't get the third one to work though :(
For some reason, Babble is inserting extra \n's into urls and tiny urls.
http://tinyurl.com/dy6mnmc
I am having that tinge of regret this morning...I wish we hadn't finished all the cookies...I want one with my coffee!
Got it that time. TY!

Hi Melonhead!
Hello, melonheadjujube
yep, a good nights sleep was all I needed to wend my way to the 9 and 10. nbt, nbs (:
howdy melonhead
But there is only one Original peri!!! all the rest are copycats
you are up, crossy
k peri
<--- laughing my butt off watching my bunny play around the christmas tree! I think he thinks he is in the woods!
car.eeyore, I love bunnies—from afar. My landlord would love them rather less, alas.
hi crosshair, peri, BabRab, etc.
your turn peri
k
mmmm bunnies...
And...we found out in the wee hours this morning that the kitten knows how to fetch. How joyous. He was playing with a piece of crumpled paper on the bed...in my face...I tossed it on the floor....and lo and behold! It was back in my face with a fury of fluffy fur!
our kitten also fetches but loves using the bendy straws
Watson loves to pick up things heavier than him with his teeth and drag them to his personal space
BTW, the is Watson's last day with us. Off to OK
mmmm, bunnies with carrotses and tatties and peas and herbs and spices in a rich broth..crossy runs....
you foster bichon?
I'm calling Scrabs...you better run!
My ten year old kitty became playful again after we removed the wall to wall carpet. At first she was discombobulated, losing many familiar scents. The fact that her favorite "toys"—no I don't spend actual money on toys—like milk cap rings, crumpled foil, origami birds, etc., slide across the floor revitalized her, happy to say. Kittens are a hoot. We think they're sweet fuzzballs, they are sure they are enormous musclebound bearers of fury...
No, Watson's a Shih Tzu. We've had him for 7 weeks
Watch it Crosshair, before we start flinging hot tofu at you!
uh oh
see?
:p
i shall behave then
melonhead, familiar scents? I know what those are
goood ;)
Were that the 5th graders i taught yesterday so compliant.
phantom: L'esprit de l'escalier
one of my favorite phrases BR
back to the grid.
Hello, zTink
your up peri
break time for me. Have a great day everyone! {{hugs}} all around!
Be well, Car
you know your chronic when you plat three word games at once, babble, words with friends with peri and bookworm off to the side in another browser:)

bye, car. Time for me to do stuff. A good day/evening to all :)
be well, jujube
i should get the oil changed in the car and fold 10 loads of clean laundry and do 2 loads of dishes..but naaaa,
I should take a nap before I fall asleep
Good morning, all. Wow. It seems like a long time since we've seen a grid with more than 200 words. I'm not complaining!
howdy judi
indeed 274 is right in my sweet spot for fav grid sizes
clue for lower o please
and lower i
4 of the i's are ir words
and the o is of5
ty mm
yvw crossy
and fish me on those ir,s
crossy, don't think me ignorant, but do you always use a comma as an apostrophe?
tbh,i do not worry overmuch with them.i have been trying to get used to wearingglasses for the first time and do not touch type.all hunt and peck,so it will happen
ah, i see
A comma is merely an apostrophe that has fallen from grace.
i wasn't being critical or anything
:)
i'm a one fingered typist myself
and in this game i get lazy and do not worry about perfect type
well put judi
if i ghost write another book the type will be correct i promise
actually i am better at dictating a book have have those with talented fingers pound it out
my musings and other verbal ejecta already span the globe hehe
*stands by with mop*
most who critique my stuff do the very same thing judi hehe
but living in a literary world where Stephen King could sell a million copies just by publishing his laundry list i figure there is room for all

My gut is fatter already.

perogies are a nice fast meal, some sour cream, some shaved sharp cheddar and some bacon bits on top and yer all set
Please don't talk about pierogies. I'll gain weight just thinking about it.

Ty. Working on it.
Got it!
perogies? yummm. haven't had any good ones since my mom left us. love 'em smothered in onions sauteed in butter.
That's how MIL makes them. Emphasis on butter.
I can almost duplicate Mom's stuffed cabbage, but the perogies ... at least I have my memories!
The are becoming a lost art. Time to jet. 72 left. Will try to finish later. *POOF*

do chocolate cookies with cayenne rlled in cinaamon sugar sound promising? I can't make cokies for the gang and leave someone out.
yum TO they sound very promising
chocolate cookies rolled in cinnamon sugar sound divine. hate the cyanne ides LOL
the bourbon balls start with vanilla wafers so i am guessing they are not vegan
have either of you tried yorhsire puddings using soy milk if you do vegan cooking?
if it is just a tiny bit of cayenne . . . .
they use oil so i surmise they will be crunchy. i don't want to go out and buy vegan margarine, etc. i think things that try to be what they are not, fod-wise, are unhealthy.
no but yorkshire pudding isn't a regular thing stateside
i don;t use dairy products but really would like to eat a toad in the hole
i don't know, i won't be eating them. just trying them. i have made three types of cookies so far.
most margarine is vegan
doesn't margarine have milk or mil solids?
some does, some doesn't - I use Vitalite or Pura brands
not regular margine but the ones which say.. . .can't believe its not butter. . .you can also substitute crisco
i have a great recipe for rice pudding made with coconut milk, not adapted, a latin american recipe
or just use white vegetable fat as a sunstutute in baing
Trex, if you have that
baking, even
yes crisco is that white vegetable fat. . .
i make the coconut rice pudding, it's yummy - add slivers of almond to make it yummier
oh, i do have crisco. but the recipes also use eggs and i do not want to experiment.
ah, i use eggs - not vegan but dary free so use a lot of vegan recipes
you can usually substitute oil plus cream of tartar for egg. . . as long as it asks for a whole egg
really?
i could look up the ratio if that would help TO
if you sub oil for egg and oil for shortening, sounds dicey
right, I'm off to amend my online shopping order, happy babbling all
ty je but no, i won't be making more than one vegan cookie

3 tbls water z= 3 tbls flour + 1 1/2 tsp shortening _ 1/2 tsp baking powder - for baking
If you do a lot of baking, cooking try to get hold of a copy of The Food Substitute Bible - David Joachim has helped me when I've run out of thingd
thanks hoot, i am just trying out one recipe because i am making cookies for my gang and on eis vegan
I got mine through a cooking book club but it's probably in stores and maybe your library
Oh - I fed a vegan for about a year and never made cookies.
i ofund one for mexican hot chocolate cookies made with oil and no egg. i imagine they will be crunchy
or cake - just food. Pays to be Italian!
yes it does.
I would think so. But lots of people like crunchy.
I just read a bunch of egg substitutes for vegan recipes and none of them looked like they would maintain the consistency of a baked good like cookies or cake.
I doubt there is any that would be like a non-veggie recipe.
Use cornstarch instead of egg in cookies, works beautifully.
Ener-G egg replacer works well, but it's commercial so it costs a lot more than finding something else. Different types of baking benefit from different kinds of substitutions.
the cayenne - hcolate- cinnamon sounds good, it is for a guy
ok - I have to go - good luck TO - let me know how it worked out
veganbakingsecrets.com has a good list of what works well where

Bye Hoot, nice to see you here.

I use pureed banana in place of eggs in my vegan cookies---works beautifully

I'm getting to be a pro at killing the chat these days
How was the French Laundry party?
crowded.
I thought they were going to cut back on the invitees.. and there were a zillion people there
I could barely move
good grub though
And I would repeat that chat is pretty dead these days, but that got weird last night.
A true "rubbing elbows" event
yeah.. I didn't quite follow the line of thinking there
Chat usually gets sparse around the holidays. People are busy with other things.
maybe sometimes people read the chat too fast and don't really take in the comment as it's written and infer another meaning. ... ? .. I really don't know how your comment went to the next level with her.
It's pretty clear that a lot of inferring goes on around here. Such is life.
yes.. not much can be done about that I think.
Sometimes I read discussions and tell myself.. what? How did you get to that?
+
man .. am I stuck
I may have to list early
It has been slow going for me too.
i'm guess your comment is on the plus side Annie?
It was a symbolic comment
like a high 5?
I am being optimistic about this grid, hence the +
ah
glad someone is
Im only on the second row
some words are reaaaally well hidden in this grid
how did you come out with the hurricane Annie..everyone was worried about you?
so far, it's fun but I have known it to change quickly
I was at my daughter's house in CT for 2 weeks. I came home Nov 14 and we still havent any power. We are working off huge generators.
I walked down 24 flights in the dark with a dinky little flashlight.
good grief
really?
that's almost two months?
do you live in the sticks?
and my car was under 6 feet of salt water. So no more car. I leased a Honda Civic. No I live a block away from the Atlantic and it came up and met us.
oh ..i'm sorry to hear that
hopefully Fema is providing aid and support ?
All the wires and transformers have to be replaced in all 5 buildings ( co-op). Cost 25 million. I might get paid for my car.
I am guessing it wasn't one of those Fiat's that drive in salt water like the commercial
Some folks stayed the entire time. Volunteers were walking up and down the stairs being food and water. Doctors were coming around with meds for diabetics, etc.
wow
No, my car was a clunky Ford Taurus.
So that is the story of Sandy in this neighborhood. I feel badly for the people who had those homes washed away.
*their
Good morning :0
gm liz
Hi Liz :)
Quite an ordeal for you folks, Annie.
Puts things in perspective - I whinge about the humidity here, but when you read about Sandy and what all you poor people had to endure ...
Molly, yes it was but the folks in Staten Island and Long Island had it just as bad and worse.
Is "whinge" Australian for "whine"?
UK probably but I guess also Aussie. Yes, to whine!
It was heart-breaking that woman screaming from Staten Island on the news
Then I think about the horrendous tragedy in CT and I think how grateful and lucky I am.
A lot of things that happened this year were humbling and made people count their blessings.
That's also so true
Yes, I saw that, ruru. It was a cold rainy Saturday and they had nowhere to go and she didnt want to put her children in a shelter.
It was so weird I was at a museum today in Sacramento and there were hundreds of school kids there.. I started to choke up actually.. I can't imaging how sick someone would have to be to harm a child.
I cant imagine it either. When Pres. Obama called off the names of the children it was heartwrenching.
Maybe something will be done about the sale of assault rifles now.
I remember how we felt in the UK after the Dublane school shooting - I was a primary teacher! It's just too awful to even contemplate.
I think it is tougher for people like Minver, Doren, stid and others who are teachers and work with kids than me.. but jeez.. I just can't watch it too long on the news
Liz, Were children shot. I never heard about that over here.
assault rifles HAVE TO GO
Yes - it was in Scotland
I think something needs to be done about the availability of mental health help.
You can google Dunblane School massacre - it was in 1996
that too for sure Molly
I will.
16 kid - 5 and 6 and their teacher
Oh my God!
The sad thing is, we can make guns less available, but people will always be able to get their hands on one if they really want to.
In 1997, according to what I read, handguns were effectively made illegal for private ownership, following Dunblane
Hey ruru and Lizlin. :)
Hi Neil :)
hi neil
Hi. :)
Check your email?
no.. not yet
just got home about an hour ago
trying to finish this sucker before I screw around
Yeah. I just realized I didn't do the grid yet today.
And it's a little quiet here now so I'm seeing what I can get done of it.
get crackin' there
you'll finish before I find my last 30 I'm sure
I seriously doubt that.
yes you will.. I haven't listed
Nope. I only just started.
I'm like the little train that could
Just my take on the Connecticut shootings is that lawmakers should be looking more at recognizing and treating mental illness moreso than who should or should not have a gun. Just saying!!
these p's are really hard
I don't think guns are the real problem.. smd.. but more the rapid fire assault type weapons
Good point smd. Mentally stable people don't strap guns to themselves and go into an elementary school shooting.
and I agree on the mental health thing
How did his own mother not realize keeping guns in the house was a bad idea when he wasn't mentally stable? That's what I wonder. She had to know.
stop voting for republicans who are the ones who closed almost all the psychiatric hospitals (hi all)
But I guess even so she never would have thought her son could do something like that.
I agree with that - but Neil beat me to what I was going to say!
Something I never do, Gwen.
let's not assume the mother was "all there" either
I greatly agree Molly.
I haven't figured that one out either neil
as a mother of a son with mental issues i think i know enough that i wouldnt have guns in the house. we dont know when they will snap., as a mother you are aware of this
She seemed to be "all there" from articles I've been reading about it... but who knows.
No kidding, ivesy3. I wouldn't in any case.
you may not want to admit it , but deep in your heart you know
Except it's kind of tempting just lately... with the neighbor we now have living above us.
great point ivesy
STOMP! STOMP! And vacuuming at 5am, etc.
I agree Ivy. We do not have guns either. Not because we are against gun ownership, but I do not thing it best to have them in our house.
*start mumbling about Sam the Dog at the Mail Box when he's there Neil
been there neil lol i hate it.. had neighbor who sounded like they stomped up stairs.
crazy people who want to shoot up schools won't be shooting up schools without such easy access to guns, either
Haha. Yeah, this guy can't walk without stomping. And he loves to vacuum at 5 am-ish and do laundry in the middle of the night too... right above us. When his washing machine goes into spin cycle... ugh.
true gwen.. and then the coward shot himself.. no satisfactaion for the parents to get justice.. not that it would have made any difference
I"m glad they were spared the trial ivesy
hadnt thought of that ruru.. would have had to live thru it all over again.
Neil, I have a full-size gong in my living room and sometimes at 2 in the morning or so my cats will hit it with a tail and off it goes! I sometimes wonder what my downstairs or next-door neighbors are thinking about that!
BTW, Neil, will be sending em tomorrow.
there was a great show with Mark Klass on recently talking about the trauma being worse going through a trial for parents
<---p's waxed
polished off the 68 Ps
I need one more 7
anyone want to list the 7's?
...just kidding...
May sound harsh, but why can't these guys just eliminate the middle step and go right to killing themselves.
If only life was that simple, Mimi ...
Totally agree, MimiCat.
something snaps in them mimi.. its the sadness of mental illness and a very poor health care system. put them on meds and they are ok.. no! they dont take the meds
They would do society such a favor.
Exactly, ivesy3. So much mental illness goes and untreated... maybe even undiagnosed.
retramp should be a word
Madonna does it every show shes on
I agree, ru---especially since many of us re-tramped a lot in the 60's and 70's.
obviously he should have been in a mental health facilty. but many people with mental issues can fake being ok... my son has fooled many drs.
Haha! No kidding. She's the "trampiest" too. But that's just a phantom in this grid.
So what would you think if you heard a gong go off in the middle of the next next door, Neil?
...night next door.
i would think someone got lucky lol
He's above us Mimi, not next door.
Oh, you mean you heard one go off next door?
Vanna White lived up stairs?
hi all, need help with my last 3 words pls. do not see them on morewords
Haha, ivesy3.
7s - DE, DI x 3, FR, PA x 2, PI x 2, PO, PR x 2, PY, SH, SN
Yeah, but if they are coherent enough to bang a gong, perhaps the other banging wasn't so satisfying!!
*show-off*...LOL
I would think someone got unlucky... they got gonged because their "performance" was so bad. :P
pi 7/44 plz
Didn't read my earlier post about the gong I have in my living room?
both st6/21pls
Oh. I didn't see it, no.
the gong show... or am i showing my age?
You have a gong in your living room... but heard one next door to you?
I said my cats sometimes hit the gong with their tails and off it goes in the middle of the night and I wonder what MY neighbors think.
Well I know about "The Gong Show"... that's why I made that joke there. Been told about it enough.
Oh I see! Haha.
Neil - if you want a laugh about living in an apartment, watch the short "Flat Life" - it is or was on the UK English curriculum for yr 6 kids!
Hmmm. Yeah... is it so loud they would hear it? Are you in an apartment or a house?
An apt. It's a full-size, free-standing gong....BIG.
Haha. I could probably write a comedy about it, Lizlin... had enough crazy stuff happen in my last building and this one.
Oh wow, Mimi.
It's a good little cartoon!
just the first st6/21 pls
All of your neighbors above, below and around you probably hear it.
it's on you tube!
I'm a bit unusual....and love that about me!
NM
We're on the main floor so no one's below us.
I just hope the neighbors are making up better stories to explain it than is actually the truth.
Yep. You're unique... just like everyone else. ;)
Haha! Yes... I'd be hoping so too.
Don't make me come and smack you!
Oh hey, Mimi? Check the link in my latest update.
Did already, neil....will em tomorrow.
what?
jeft
em?
Email, dear.
what?
Oh! Ok.
Sorry that was my daughter and she can be pesty. we will leave you alone.
Must go for now. Bye all and have a good night.
Take care, Mimi.

Congrats, ruru!!!
not too gently stid.. :D
oh! YAY ruru! :-)
this is a tough grid.. at least for me it was
it's pretty slow going for me. Will get halfway tonight and then quit for the day.
been struggling to find the last 40 or so and i have 54 to go. OY
"pitdroid" is in the grid and it SHOULD count for a wurd. *sits in middle of grid until injustice is corrected*
I have 127 left now...
what's that, a robot who changes your tires?
*rolls eyes* well, ms dalek.... it's a mechanical droid that fixes racing speeders
stidkid #2, calls "newb" on you, BDG... *wink* it's a star wars reference. Though we are now more likely to watch Dr Who than Star Wars.
me no big star wars nut, TYVM
now if they had some daleks in those ol' star wars movies that would be something . . .
:-) we're just nuts over here...
wouldn't that be fun? LOL Darth Davros and Vader, meeting in the cantina...
dinner's done, gotta fly, happy boggling all
later Book! have a lovely evening!
ruru, it snowed... stidkid missed yesterday at school, and had a late start today. And now we are on vacation!!!! *pops popcorn and sits down to watch endless movies* it's going to be a long couple of weeks...
Hi mama and stidkid. Back from Parkside. Same as usual. Everyone doing well and thinkinghighly of you.
hello Mother! glad you had a good time. I always enjoy visiting them. :-)
Works both ways, I think. I'm going to fry up some steaks to go with our baked potatoes. Have a lovely evening. Talk to you tomorrow.
sounds delish. We'll have chicken soup if I can ever thaw the darn thing enough to pull the giblets out. Should have grabbed the home-grown bird instead of the last of the store-bought. Oh well...
"trampire" a vagrant who flies about at night?
hi stid and stidg and Gwen and ruru and Peach and all.. nice to have some Babble Time at the end of a busy day.. yay!
hey Aloyisius! ((((hugs)))) I am SO HAPPY to see you! we have snow and it's moderately chilly. Finally feels seasonal, without our having to miss any pre-vacation concerts for a change. :-)
Hey there, Aloy.
peach? when did you get here? **choclits**
wow.. stid, I don't miss the snow! sitting out on our lanai now in my pj's.. hi there peach, glad to join you all
it's really cold here too stid. I think if it rained it would snow
oh, and I found a "crispy" choclit bar that is safe for me to eat today, so I had one when I got home a little while ago. It was so much sweeter than I remember such things (a little too sweet for my taste)! LOL
quite possibly, ruru -- this cold front seems to have really settled in over our coast
lanai? *wishing for summer* LOL though I really do like the excuse to just dream about the garden without always feeling I ought to be out mucking around.
Okay, I gotta hear it Ru. What is the temperature there?
it's in the 30's here right now
and it will be colder tonight
maybe in the 20's
brrrr! *sends longjohns*
Okay, that is cold. A lot of people I know who live in California think it's cold when it's 50. For once, we had a milder day than you. High of 55.
yeah.. no skimpy jammies for me tonight
No ice hockey tonight again, Aloy? How disappointing.
Hello, stid
going to have to walk the dog on the earlier side
hi BabbleRabble!.. have my flannel pj's ready though because we have a weather prediction of temps in the mid 40's for a couple of nights.. daggone it, that cold air won't stay north of here! How are you doing?
(((BR))) nice to see you!
In the mid twenties today .... wore a sweatshirt .... no acute distress ... pax
Love your quote of the day, BR -- it's how I have begun to live my life. :-)
Good for you, stid. I try to remember ... it is later than you think.
(I automatically looked at the clock...)
Oh yes, I agree stid.. just lost a long time friend and though I was prepared, thanks to "Caring Bridge", I am still having a hard time dealing with it
I'm still getting roses blooming in my garden
((Aloyisius)) sorry for your loss. So rough to lose someone at any time.
So, "Carpe Diem".. life is precious
How wonderful, onyx
onyx, that is great
that's nice, onyx! I actually have a pink rose still blooming, but I suspect the snow on it will help it go into hibernation now
My condolences, Aloy
Just cut the last three. Going to get cold tonight. Still some what unusual to have them this late.
ty stid and BR.. so many memories to cherish, what a wonderful person.. i can only hope that I will be remembered with a fraction of the affection
I am sorry for your loss, Aloyisius. Hang onto those wonderful memories.
Ask yourself the following questions every day: What am I thankful for today? What did I learn today? Where did I do a good job? Who was I valuable to today? How did I take care of myself today? http://tinyurl.com/bwghzfm
I will, gapeach.. she was a very special person who touched many lives, and I feel privileged to be among those
A good list, BR. *runs to look at website*
Hello, gapeach. Hope the bronchitis is gone or at least manageable.
excellent, BabbleRabble, puts it all into perspective
That's a great website, BR. have bookmarked it.
HI there, BabbleRabble. Yes, thanks, the new meds are working wonderfully. I was beginning to forget what feeling good felt like. Thanks for asking. Hope you are well also.
I need to do a better job of answering "how did I take care of myself today?"
bookmarked it too (-:
I need to continue focusing on what I did right instead of obsessing over all the things I didn't do right...
how do you find stuff so fast, BabbleRabble? Amazes me!
Amen to that, stiddie.
automatic thoughts (negative chatter) is so insidious
a lot of wisdom being tossed out tonight.
My memory is not completely gone, Aloy.
I am getting better, BR, at saying "next time I will .... (better practice)" instead of "I really messed up" :-) *proud mama look* it has taken me a lot of work to get there.
well, I think you have an amazing memory.. kudos
rofl, BR!
ya never know what you might learn on Babble..
"nosery" = sinus prayers?
oh yes, stid.. perfect! (snort)
Never to late to learn a new lesson. I have to kvell about my students today taught t he teacher a lesson. Precious moments in the classroom.
nice, onyx!
ok, so tell us more, onyx
PB, aloyisius... and add a suffix for sn 7....
oh dear, off I go.. ty, stid.. sorry, gang
Students did project based finals today. Some of them actually taught me something I didn't know. Nicely done.
no problemo, aloyisius. It's a rough grid with many common words.
very cool, onyx -- high school? I have enjoyed being a community judge for some of our high school culminating projects.
Hi again :)
Keep finding plurals or singulars I missed!
I think i knew you were a teacher. Yeah i teach high school. toughest job i have ever loved
snorty
:-) nope. And the "more so" ending didn't work, either!
hi Liz.. onyx, I know what you mean.. awesome when you empower the kids and they become "experts" with their projects.. way to go!
I posted these before. Good refreshers: http://tinyurl.com/5uq9qem\n http://tinyurl.com/dxp5x9f
LOL, enjoying the aftermath of the sn5
Nicely done, onyx
as a new teacher, I love project-based learning but worry about the grading angle. I want to give kids authentic learning experiences, but (when I have my own classroom) I don't want to set myself up for squabbling over why I assigned different grades. Rubrics help some, but there are always subjective elements.
ooh! TED talks! I have been enjoying some of the science talks from last year... will mark that for later.
I so agree with you stid - project based learning almost became impossible in the UK - became so target based and curriculum set learning objective based! It was so much work to try and meet all targets in project based work!
me too.. love TED talks since my daughter told me about them a couple years ago
Thanks guys. Aloyisius, i read your profile. Great story. stid, i had a master teacher who taught be radical. why not give everyone a good grade? Grades ar esubjective. One of the girls who taught me something today was a special ed kid, who has speach problems. She got up and presented, struggled to speak words ina
oops, in another language. she deserved an a
One of my special ed kids wrote an amazing letter to Macbeth, as if she was Lady Macbeth after we'd been working on the play. She was dyslexic and aged 11! It was an awesome letter!
wow, Liz..
That is so wonderful, onyx! :-) When I student taught I had an extremely shy student. During the parent night (speaking from PB) the kid spoke up loud enough to be heard in the cacaphony of simultaneous presentations!
Nice Liz
way to go, Liz!
She's in her 20s today - but I still remember!
does anyone have the di 6/7 that they could clue to me before I go nuts?????
It's so rewarding watching kids achieve!
hey NANCY!
that would be the first two di's
Teachers too often are underappreciated. So much politics.
Hey Stid, how goes it?
sure, Nancy.. you use it if you have an aquarium and need to catch a fish
di 6 /7 - compound words
thanks for those words, liz and aloyisius!
I am well, Nancy, thanks -- hope you are the same?

Quite funny, when you consider the word!
re7.32 happens when you fail but go after it again
ah. thanks!
and at this point, since I am struggling to hit the correct keys with my fingers, I shall bid you all a fond adieu. Have a lovely rest of your day! *poof*

Sweet dreams, stiddie.

Hi sue...how are you and Frank doing?
st6.21 is a measure of your walk
ty - just got it! was looking in the other direction :)
No. Christmas is just another day with my own thoughts.
Now for the final 11 ts!
OK.. thoughts are valuable, "hype" is not
Twas the night before Christmas ... and all through the creature was stirring .... and I had to do it all myself ...
through the house not a creature ...
Try to amuse myself at times.
