john boehner scouser a wily politician in america
You can do it, Dee :)
ty ru
ty liz :)
you can do this grid all the way dee
no weird words at all
good to know
this grid contains a Scots word for marsh - merse - which it steadfastly rejects - must be the only Scots/border/esoteric dialect word not in Enable
lol, scouser. you think?
but it will take crap in french scouser. :D
a good knowledge of border Scots certainly helps to do the grids. Yes ru I was surprised at that - this grid has biblical verb for it
good night everyone .. have fun with the grid..
Night Ru :)
gn ru!
down to 7 :)
I guess Enable is founded on Burns, Shakespeare, a fairly modern Bible, and Websters
Hi Grannyrose
Go Dee!!!!
I still have 77 to do. tsk
least I have the r's done :)
night ruru, greetings scouser, and yay dee!!!
down to s, t, and c (hate c's)
scouser, jillibus had an excellent definition of enable in her profile.
I don't like r's too many sneaky re- s
dee, do you have 4 x ca, all starting with ca4, valise?
Yes grannyrose I have se4 that
so true
* ca x 5*
*waves goodnight to Dart*
ruru, you cheeky possum!!!!
Great expression, Rose. I think I'll take that one on!!!
I have ca x 12
well.. if I am anything.. I certainly am cheeky
ok, probably missing ca7, put a vowel on the end instead of plural
I have all the 7's
13 ca 's
ok, ca5, old-fashioned word ending, meaning able

duh, make that 7 x te

4 x te, start with the adolescent
5 of those Grannyrose
GR can I have a clue for that ta6 please
okay, ta6, sun*** + shipw***k, sunken vessel
aha probably a cute critter? ty
scouser, only 4 x te's start with the adolescent.
dee, how you going, hun?
Hope you're right, not scouser, Rose, cos I can only find 4!
liz, have finished. there are only 4
Yay! Congrats Rose! You're all so fast! I've still got another 70!
sorry GR I added the golf things and WTG ..!
lol, thanx liz...i finished just after ruru....*sigh* apart from work, what do i do now??
np's scouser.
We've got guests - son and girlfriend of friends from UK. They're sitting in the other room with their iPads / phones and we're in here on our computers! That's the world today! Still we had a lovely day at Byron and avoided the worst of the rain!
btw, scouser, friend of mine is heading your way soon. she has just had her 5 year working visa granted. not sure when, though.
aren't they exhausted, liz??
May I please have a clue for te6-18 the 3rd? Thanks
No! They've been in Aus since last week and were in Singapore a couple of days before that!
peach, hun, plural
Aw, thanks, hon.
fireworks finally duh... couldn't find the stupid sn 6/21
oh, i thought they only arrived earlier this week, liz.
lol, WTG DEE!!!!
They arrived here on Sunday - been in Sydney before and then a wedding in Canberra.
congrats Dee :)
ty vm!!
They leave tomorrow then in a couple of weeks, friends from vancouver arrive! Busy life here!
ahhhh, so.....and just where are you trundling th4 off to next, liz?
We off to the Rockies and Alaska much later in the year.
well off til the flip; poofing with hugs!!!
Sleep well Dee :)
good grief, liz. an endless round of entertainment...
sleep well, dearest dee.and awake refreshed.
ty both!! HUGS!!!~
Sure is! Busy year - been with hubby for 10 years, married for 5, citizenship and hit the big 6 in Dec!
ooh, liz. have you been in touch with flosey and jilli?
We're not going to have spare time, unfortunately. We've done something so unlike us and booked a tour! Totally time filled - also meeting with cousins in Vancouver and friends who're coming here. Next time though, I hope!
aah, liz....9 months younger than i...don't forget to apply for your senior's card...lol
Will do Rose! Hubby got his last year!
Sad that prob won't meet Flosey and Jilli - if I have any time (though I'm sure I won't) I will contact them - but not publicly! We're both very suspicious and untrusting of open sites!
such a buzz, liz. down here they are pretty lax. seniors meals are smaller, granted, but very cost-effective
Have used hubby's card at cinema etc!
awww, liz! jilli is such a buzz
I love the chats I've had but this was all booked a very long time ago - before I babbled!
i email jilli and rubyfoo regularly. also sarah and dee. they are such wonderful peeps.
not too late, hun.
Yes, I agree. I really like most people I chat to here! It's a really friendly site. I missed out on all the nastiness before my time!
and i didn't mention neil and ruru. brilliant peeps to correspond with. and what about moi??
I agree again - all of you! Everyone I chat to is really lovely - - actually too many to mention!
lol, so agree.
The time zones make it really interesting. Different people online at different times and because QLD doesn't change its clocks, that's meant I've seen some other people too!
Actually, Rose, you were one of the first really friendly people that chatted to me!
hi guys and hi other aussies
Hi sandy :)
how is queensland's weather today?
good morning all, please could i have a clue for the 9 and 10
Cold and wet. It's like winter!!!!
en 9 / 10 - dance terms
jenny, sorry i dont have them
I love winter liz,its like summer here but not too hot today
two french words, combined
the 10 is the plural.
I think it got to 22 C today. Winter here is sunny - I like that! There's an intense low pressure off the coast today, apparently and it's very windy and wet!
thanks liz
jenny, french word for "to come in " + french word for " cat "
yw Jenny!
I hope you saw my last comment to you, Rose!!! :)
We went to England in May when it is their summer and it was just like out winter, delightful!!
ah, thanks liz and rose
our not out
awwww, thanx liz
May in England can be lovely.
I just nees the top L in 1st column for nbs and nbt
nbt and nbs. lurking. 50 left.
It was gorgeous - when we went to Scotland it snowed for all of a minute - first time I have seen snow falling
le 4 - a German word or l + an anagram of a female possessive pronoun!
le4/5, an oven used to anneal glass
OK - that's the other meaning given in the dictionary but it wouldn
wouldn't have helped me!!!!!
lol, liz....maybe google the meaning?

Stuck at 70! Going to take a break and come back a bit later. Enjoy your days or evenings. :)
I live near Oxford, England and it is 8 a.m. and altho it is very cold at the moment it is brilliant sunshine. At the weekend we went to the beach and sat in the sunshine with all the windows open, it was just like summer
s'okay, mixi. pb loaded with truffles i brought home from tasmania...
Love Oxford. Brother has place near there - Sandford St Martin.
3 am here. time for bed.
I loved England Jenny, so green and beautiful - Our daughter had her wedding in Hertfordshire last October and it was soo fantastic
4pm here
tasmania - never been there.
night, mixi. sleep well, hun
never been to england either.
6 pm here!
Tassie is fantastic and lovely food and wine and cheese
Its a lovely place I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, although at the minute many places are flooded and although we live very near the Thames we have never been flooded
you are a night owl mixi!
tasmania has the creamiest milk i have ever tasted...the chocolates, truffles , cheese and ice-cream are unbelievable..
Jenny, I hate the hot weather and wonder why so many Poms come here to live
hubby get off work and 1 and wakes me up, if I've been able to get to sleep.
Gran, you know I love Tassie, I would love to go again, the restaurants are fantastic
I sometimes miss the green of England - it's different from the green here. Love going back and visiting but there's also so much here to see. Much more moderate climate usually here in S Queensland!
but I'm somewhat of a night owl myself.
BBL - enjoy yourselves :)
We go to bed when the sun goes down here and get up with the sun! That's farm life
have to help hubby syl
sandy, our latest was the second of our visits to tassie. there has to be a third. 2 pockets we haven't se4, and at least 3 cruises i need to do. LOL

Tigers, leopards, and jaguars love Calvin Klein's Obsession for Men. The scent is used to attract animals to cameras in the wilderness. ladies: this is also a good way to get rid of a nasty hubby.."hey,dear,wear more of that cologne, you know how it turns me on.where we going? oh just to the african lion safari for the day"
I think Babble is exploding!

Grid tidbit for you..93 of the words end with an 'S'
Interesting, Crossy.

ouch zooz. Lots of forgotten plurals and verb forms for me, I bet. And hi.
I believe it, Zoom
smores, don't worry, that was just babble chog being temperamental.
not your fault smores
Whats happening with babble latley..has been going very slow and hiccuppy.
Very weird though...I've had it double and one triple but never do that
don't know, zooz. It usually acts up a bit with big grids. But this is not so big and very buggy.
Hate to think what it was like with the 700 word grid last year then..lol
i have told dr_g not to put his gin and tonic glass on top of the server tower.the boy gets tipsy and before you know it we have a wet tower
ahh yes,the legendary 744.many of us are still recovering from that
a bit slow, zooz, but not too bad, actually. Very nice day to play, that one... great chat.
hahahahahahahahaha crossy! i never saw the big one
I still need to make me that T-shirt
Would love to do a grid that size.

Thanks, Molly..next time there is a grid size of 20 or so i might just do that.
weird...no one posted a url
crossy posted a sentence without spaces, smores

we really need that transporter device in our PB
nbt and nbs
I'm going to drive up US I91 all the way to Montreal
good job, medusa
thanks
lol, bichon, once you get to motreal that will put you 6 hours east of me
Probably about 8 hours to Montreal, could you make it for tomorrow?
And grid chog back to normal size.
on your way through though stop off at that famouse deli and get me 20 pounds of corned beef
yay zooz :)

i doubt that sprite. xxx
Oh, the Canadian corned beef place. I was thinking of our Connecticut one
:)
and we are sorry about celine everyone:(( my wife calls her "the screamer"
the conneticuit one is not in mkontreal lol
with reason
damn typos
I think she is a great singer.
she is, zooz, but she does so much of that technical stuff, with vibratos etc, that I lose track of the song.
do not get me wrong.i love a few of her songs, but after a while it is like a dentist drill going at full speed
lol
lol
a dentist drill with a tremelo dial set halfway
Okay, kitties are happy and I got another cup of coffee....mmm
woot. The re words are easypeasy today
that is what I meant, crossy.
brb,have to check bacon supplies
lol
wb smores. Am jealous. Just asked my girl to make me a cuppa, but she forgot.
i found that too sprite.
a rare wonder, medusa. Let's celebrate the easy res!
<----place pot of vanilla bean coffee and cinnabons on sideboard
lol
Stuck with 85 left. Maybe I'll return later.
tac h
that's about 20 more than me Scrabbler :)
thats alot more than me!
26 left here
Sorry too many red boxes...have been trying to chat..but no good..bye for now.
red boxes again :(
me too
lots of red boxes!
hi again. What happened before? At 7:07 (babble time), red boxes appeared and it all imploded!
<-- has never heard Celine Dion
Hi ruby {hugs}
{{smores}}
hiya back again, red boxes of doom
dinner is cooking and I'm having a gin
hi ruby :)
hi ruby
{{sprite}} thank you for your letter
good girl, relax time :) And you are very welcome.
(but not a Genever)
Hehe, I am finishing breakfast
ruby, I will bring you another bottle when I come back. We should start planning again, don't you think?
I made Burt's spicy chicken and will have pasta carbonara with the extra pasta
his spicy chicken is too hot for anybody else!
oooo spicy chicken! I love that.
smores, funny isn't it, with all those time zones :)
:) yes, yes it is
it is so hot that our old boy, Rufus, used to run out the door when I'd make it because he couldn't stand the fumes!
wow... I worked neatly today. Am left with only Ts and Ss :)
wow that is really hot. Too hot for me, I think.
lol...wow ruby
what's funny is that Burt grew up in a house where his mother used NO seasonings, probably not even salt
that is really bland eating. I can imagine he needed to compensate.
and they used to make him sit there until bedtime with a plate of cold, unseasoned cauliflower
wouldn't he get enough salt from your personality ruby?
ugh...
but I think his taste buds are totally burned out and his food has to be way over the top now
lol hi ruru
ya think, ruru?
my parents did the same with me, ruby. Endless sitting with the cold plate.
hiya ruru :)
I think I've become pretty bland in my old age lol
hi sprite, ruby, and smores
no ruby helps him avoid sweets :)
I was lucky, my mother was too busy to care what (or if) I ate. And we ate in restaurants a couple of times a week because my mother worked
Burt doesn't need help for that. He has decided not to eat sweets and he doesn't.
hi ruru
My mom would sometimes do that, but she was an excellent cook at least
I was really a lucky kid
good morning medusa
I cooked for myself as a kid
my mother worked too, and I cooked. My mother wasn't a good cook at all. I am though.
hello medusa; we are talking about food, as usual
why was that, ruru?
lol. hi ruby
next time you come here, sprite, I am going to taste your cooking!
i keep zoning in and out of chat! lol
oh cool! I'll make sure to bring a recipe or two then.
oops. pb for me!
we are all cringing from the red boxes of doom
My mom did most the cooking but made sure we all learned how
hehehe hard to avoid that one, medusa
had lots of them!
still some coffee in there medusa :)
I discovered Rijstafel the first time in Amsterdam and "adopted" some of the side dishes for my Indian cooking. That was in the old days (lol) when I was an ambitious cook
red boxes that is
yes, the chog is misbehaving today. More than the participants. I prefer the ot5 way around.
my parents weren't home that much sprite.. we sort of had to fend for ourselves
ah yes, Rijsttafel. Actually Indonesian. But very much integrated into dutch cooking now.
:) sprite
when I got married, still living at home until then, I didn't know how to cook an egg
am sorry to hear that, ruru. But I bet you are a great cook.
lol...ruby
I learned how to cook, dinner by dinner, as I was a (very young) faculty wife
I am a really good cook.. that's for sure.. I can't repair anything.. but I can cook well.
I was a very good cook for a long time, but not any more. Too tired now
now, I'm better at repairing stuff
cooking is more important, ruru. Much more!
When I was a teen, she made me resposible for at least 2 dinners a week.
(I am sure that ruru is my doppelganger!)
:)
<-- loves ruru
:D
agree with sprite, I can handle stuff being broke better than being hungry :)
I did 5 from the time I was 8. Still hate cooking with a vengence, unless it is very relaxed and incidental.
ruru rocks. Big time.
the most fun is having a girlfriend in the kitchen and drinking and cooking together. My kitchen was designed for that!
I enjoy it most of the time
sounds nice ruby
my biggest problem is that i love my nedlework!
it is, ruby! I am looking forward to sitting there again. And helping out with cutting and cleaning.
why is that a problem medusa?
lol medusa, that is no problem. Needlework is lovely. Only thing is, you can't eat it ;)
coz i do it most of the time! lol
LOL
I loved cooking and entertaining, but have gotten tired of it in the last 8 years or so. My "best" was a buffet Indian dinner for 12, breads, desserts and everything, "hausegemachte" in Princeton
when you're not babbling of course :)
exactly sprite! when i get into a project i forget everything including to eat!
grin... what's for dinner today, hun? - well.... errr.... cross stitched cauliflower.
medusa, I can see how that may be a problem. But isn't it a wonderful feeling, to be caught up in a project?
lmao! thats about right sprite. i even knit while i am chatting online and stuff!
:D
Medusa: you're not so far away: you come here and teach me your crafts and I'll cook you some spicy chicken! lol
it is a great feeling sprite. thing is i have ocd and panic attacks so it is when i finish a project i get that sense of achievement from it
Many years ago, when I lived in London (my son was 4) and I spent a lot of time in the playground, crocheting freehand, an Indian woman said "The reason you are doing that so badly is that you are doing it with the wrong had!"
now that would be great if i had a passport ruby!
I can relate, medusa. *hugs*
lol ruby!
lol ruby
does one need a passport within the EU?
thanks sprite. i am just addicted to needlework and reading! lol
?what? ruby, that's crazy
same here, lol. Very much so.
I learned to knit with a right-handed person sitting in front of me
are you a leftie ruby?
I guess you can't be left-handed in India
i would need one to get to france ruby
In every sense, smores! lol
yes ruby, we do. We are supposed to carry a passport with us when we go abroad. Most borders there is no checking though.
my nan taught me to knit when i was about 5 and i have never stopped
Me too, ruby :D
but to cross the Channel, we absolutely need one
Once, when I was in Casablanca (on one of my "adventures"), I went to a dinner party and ate with the wrong hand.
ouch. Yes, in some places you better use the right hand for eating, or you insult the cook.
<---always eats with "wrong" hand
let's take a count: who is left-handed?
i am left handed in some things coz i used to be left handed when i was younger but they made me use my right hand at school
i am half left!
my husband's teachers told him he would never go to college if he continued to use his left hand!
they tried that with me too medusa, my mom kinda went off on the teacher...lol
I am pretty much ambidexter.
I knit left-handed
sooo, I remained left handed :D
hi
now thats handy sprite
hi harpjane
i have one of each. one right and one left
I do strength-related things on the right side, but am not ambidextrous
yes. Especially for using a screwdriver in nasty corners :)
my school got away with it smores!
one of each what, harpjane? Children? In my (very) large exgended family, the second-born cousin was always left handed
I can do most of things with my right ( except write) but I instinctively you my left
lol ruby, the server had a tantrum so i didn't get to finish....
extended*
one of each hands... a leftie and a right one
you too jane?
factoid--a disproportionate number of professional harpists are left handed.
we are all rushing to chat before the red boxes descend again
hey, didn't know that. Interesting!
40% of artists are left-handed : michaelangelo, leonardo, etc.
nor did i sprite. is there any particular reason jane?
fireflies. Very nice grid.
wtg sprite
you qare too smart, sprite! xx
the bass strings are heavier and those who can play with dexterity in both hands have a slight edge in the harp world.
My mom asked me why my school papers were so messy, and I told her " they make me use this hand" she was at the school the very next day.
i did not know that either ruby
WTG sprite !!!! woohoo
thats interesting jane.
left-handedness is an interesting question
bye all, must be off, alas. Take care. *hugs*
left brain/right brain
{{sprite}}
lol...yes, we are the only ones in our right mind :D
Plus, as any leftie knows, it is harder to favor non-dominant hand if you are a leftie. So the non-dominant hand ends up with more dexterity on a left-handed person.
bye sprite
raofl
lol
that is so true, harpjane
Bye sprite, enjoy your day dear :)
I'm going to re-address dinner. And probably have another gin in the process
If you injure your dominant arm, your recovery time will be shorter. Plus your brain will get to learn all sorts of new things!
Enjoy ruby :)
evidently, stroke victims are better off if they are left-handed. Who knew?
My dad was left handed until he broke his arm.
Wow, never heard that one ruby
that is interesting ruby (the stroke victim thing, AND the gin thing)
wow! you learn alsorts here!
the gin thing is probably more relevant in my life at this point. LOL
but i guess the stroke thing works because a stroke affects the right side!
I used to have a set of leftie mugs...they had a small hole at the lip so if a right handed person drank from one it dribbled. :D
we are all learning from each other, what a joy!
for nbt, i need the second row l and the fifth column e. stats please and thank you?
that is very funny, smores
le4/5
i like the idea of learning while playing.
en9 and 10, ballet move (s)
and plural
morning all!
me too medusa :)
hi sue
and making wonderful friends!
Hi Sue :)
{{sue}} how are you doing?
hi ruby, medusa, smores!
{group hug }
and thanks to ruby's clue, my first words are the 9 and 10!
Both Frank and I are doing well, ruby, thanks!
wtg sue!
that's what happened when I entered this AM
weather is horrible, though
That's always nice Sue, knock out the biggies from the start
you have been through a very rough time, sue, I admire your strength
very windy and cold here :(
i just realised i only have 84 words left. did not realise i had got that many!
:)
dinner, now, back later
ah, thanks, ruby, it's been tough sometimes but I have wonderful friends
Enjoy your chicken ruby :)
ttfn ruby
smores, it is windy and cold here too (9F) and it rained last night so everything is a sheet of ice
you are very fortunate to have had those friend sto see you through
(no, I don't eat Burt's chicken, just make a carbonara out of the extra pasta.
I am, ruby, it has been quite amazing
same here Sue, not too icy though, the wind was strong enough last night to dry things up
Ahh...well enjoy your carbonara :)
and my dog and I share it lol
carbonara sounds yummy, I haven't made it in years
lol
Did you see the pic of my dog ruby?
Good morning, all!
hi Judi!
hi judi
Hey Judi :)
I must go for now....75 left....enjoy your day everyone :)
Uhg. It just started to rain. Umbrella is in the car, in the parking lot. *grumble*
lol...thought I was the only one who always left the umbrella in the car :)
Bye :)
That's what I get for not watching the weather report.
we had the rain last night, then snow, then REALLY cold so now everything is covered in ice. ugh. I am procrastinating going out :-)
got the en9 and 10 but still don't have nbt. what are the stats for the fifth column e please?
(hi sue!)
er4/4
hi jane!
ah, thanks~!
nbt
wtg jane

Is it just me or is this grid like pulling teeth, can't even get half way
It's just you, Chrissie. :-p
lol
Thouhgt it might be :(
Hi everyone
Hi bichon
See, can't even spell today
Any hints for the 9 and 10?
Yay, half way
Apparently its a ballet term
Hi, Bichon.
Hi Judi, Chrissie
Or french word for between + the **** log is quiet at the moment
Unless you're up on your ballet terms, the en9 & 10 are difficult. So, phone a twinkle toe friend.
ty Judi and Chrissie. Got it
En9/66
Good :)
Fortunately I am somewhat familiar with ballet terms
resc4 is not in the dictionary. I do it all the time
Time for a break
hello all

thank you jmc
A Bichon Happy Birthday to you peri
Happy Birthday peri!!!
did you have a nice mini meet up, jmc?
ty Annie and bichon.
I am waiting for marigold to get home from work. she is taking me out for lunch.
Wwho is marigold, does she Babble?
happy birthday peri!
she is my sister and yes she babbles but rarely chats.
Nice!
ty carlee
speaking of meet up india jan and i meeting for coffee in about an hour :)
yes it was lovely although just wht and me. . .but that meant we could gossip about quakers and not bore others
nice carlee!
is he a quaker too?
that sounds rather fun jmc :)
yes. . . we were at a quaker board meeting when i showed him what i was doing and he was immediately hooked
bwahahahahaha

I am stuck with 96 left
where did you eat?
its ok peri..i am stuck with 205 left ;)
need clues?
i have 169 left but you never know
if you were on the other coast, you could be earth quakers
we were going to eat at jaleo--a tapas bar--but it was packed. . .there was disney on ice, 5000 volley ball players, and the next day was a holiday. . .
so we walked down the street and ate at an Italian "family style" place
i was an earth quaker here a couple of summers ago BR
and quite a few quakers in california. . . nixon's mom was one of them
fireworks
whoo hooo medusa!
ty
time to do some housework followed by dinner and knitting i think! lol
gl everyone
sounds like a lovely evening. . .
as long as there isn't too much housework
Housework? What's that?
ditto to what Judi said
(i am not sure judi but i didn't want to be rude to medusa)
Is that where the house works to make your life miserable?
if it is this house has done that for sure lately
Mine invites spiders inside so they can make cobwebs. It also lets in dust. Lots of dust.
this house does that too.
the plus of winter is that i am not battling fleas and ants! but i am cold. . .
but I did find a ladybug on my window sill the other day which was nice
Happy Birthday peri
a sure sign of spring around here peri

afternoon babblers!
Hello Eva
Happy babbling everyone :) bbl
le 4,4 le5,12 le 6,21
hello...how many hours left to this grid? Mine says 'NaN+'
About ten hours, I think.
ty
i'm on the west coast and my time is all confused
Babble has been wonky today.
it will flip at 10 pm phaeton
I was here earlier and read other people were having issues.
I'm on the west coast too
i'm in Oregon
me too :) coos bay
just south of you in Brookings
nice, i go there all the time
one of our daughters lives there
first time here for me
my daughter and her family moved here last July
its the true warm spot in the banana belt of the coast
not right now! lol
i grew up here, in charleston
no its not warm now and wont be for awhile im afraid
bunch of cold fronts coming at us
better than back in MI where it is snowy.
oh im sure, snow is a rarity here, but it can happen
you have poison oak in the summer there
so be cautious in the woods :)
not a problem...no treks in the woods for me...just a walk down to the beach when it gets nicer
always a good idea, love the beach
there is also a nice local beach by the sewage treatment plant there
its less known of course
we have one right below the house
perfect
just temporary...looking for a house to buy.
places are rather spendy where you are
they are cheaper in my area and inland, like coquille, myrtle point
true...it's not going to be my house...helping family to settle in.
ah...
winter is a good time to look at property on the coast, see what floods and what doesnt
dont buy in the tsunami zone ;)
good advice Wyrd
(((bugs))) hey all
hi stid!! how are you doing today?
getting anywhere with the shut down class yet?
I am well, thanks -- our school had an extra planned day off, so I am home alone, enjoying listening to the radio and working on little projects. You?
I am enjoying the sunshine and Babbling in between phone call about insurance. Not so much fun
And not yet, we'll see how that class responds to the new arrangement. I think it will un-nerve them, which is bad, but I think the other three classes will benefit, which is good. The one class will figure out that it's not really all that much different, and then we'll be fine.
I am getting connection errors... insurance?
Babble has been wonky all day.
im having slow down too stid
I see that it's chilly where you are, Wyrd -- so sorry. Our temps are far above normal and I am worried we may get a late frost next month which would be really really bad.
hey bea
hello all.
I just became the treasurer of a group that was about to fold for lack of a treasurer. I am working hard to fill in all the gaps
yes, we have winter storms coming at us, hopefully no snow
hello everyone :) Nice to see that lickety is back - 48 to go
last year it snowed june 1st, and that has never happened in my lifetime
still getting the red boxes of doom every now and again tho nan
hey nan
wow bugs, good luck with that -- really hard to pull something like that together (have been there done that)
we had a dusting of snow last night on Vancouver Island but it is sunny and bright today
we have some blue sky, but big billowy rain clouds mostly, 43 degrees so far
it is working stid and I am enjoying the challenge. we got a new treasurer and a new president who know what needs to be done
glad you're getting sun up there, bugs -- I really think I do better when it's brighter outside :-) at least, I sure do notice the dust on the furniture, which gets me up and moving! LOL
hi stid :)
saw you mom here a few days ago, but haven't seen you for awhile
do you have a SAD light stid? I eat breakfast with mine every day and it really helps give me the rays I need
I am long-term subbing in a 7th grade math teacher's room. About to start my 6th or 7th week, with no end in sight...
yes, I do have one, bugs -- and I use it in the mornings when I am getting ready for work. When I can reach it. Going to uncover it on my next break.
you may finish the year with those kids stid and I like the way you are taking over the classroom to suit you. It might shake the kids up but they will see that you are there for the long haul.
I would not mind finishing up the year, bugs -- I have the support of the administrators, and checked into getting my certification here -- if I can pass the state test for math at this level I can ask for my credentialing institution to do a couple observations of me teaching and pay a fee (less than the cost of a program) and add this endorsement to my resume...
sounds very complicated. up here once you are in, you just keep getting hours until you can get a full time job
Which is the other thing I want to do this afternoon -- I am taking an online noncredit math course to refresh my knowledge of Algebra. I "did the math" and it has been almost 30 years since I took calculus. One stats class and one very watered-down "math for elementary teachers" class in the interim. I am so rusty with many concepts! Fortunately they are past the point where these kids are. ;-)
I am qualified to teach at this level of math if it were a "self contained" classroom where I taught all subjects. But they make a distinction for teachers who do only one subject, so technically I am not "highly qualified"
the math for elementary kids will do you the most good for middle school kids. some of them have not mastered the skills before they get to you
I know, Bugs... *sigh* which is part of the issue for my kiddos. But since I know the math that should be preparatory to this, I am able to fill in a lot of the gaps in knowledge as we go along.
ah, so you are starting your career as a specialist. I shud have known you wud find the tough route *smiles*
rofl... I never do seem to get the easy way. Must be the Irish part of me, making doors instead of going through the open ones. Though it makes me feel closer to my paternal grandmother who was a 50+ year old new teacher and opted in as a middle school math teacher because that's where the openings were. I wish she were still around for me to share things with.
Hello again!
hey car!
Hello car.
exactly! we Irish are not afraid of hard work
hi car
Hi Stid!!!1
I have three more minutes to play, and finally NBT
have a good day stid. sending you off with hugs
Good for you Stid! Hi Bugsaw!
thanks bugs (((hugs))) Miss you -- hope I can see you again soon.
me too
OH!!!! I FORGOT TO SHARE! *VERY proud mama look* Grant (who officially turns 18 soon) was nominated and accepted for the All-State Marching Band!!!! He is going to play in the Philadelphia Parade on July 4!!!!! *bounce bounce bounce* I will get to stay home and take care of critters, so Tom can go back and visit relatives.
YAY Grant!!! see, hard work pays off!!
Hi BzznBea! Sorry I missed you a minute ago!
wandering off for a bit. happy babbling
Yep. He's rather "chuffed" -- ALSO, he got a "superior" rating for his signing at the state Solo and Ensemble competition. Mother played the piano for that. He thinks it wasn't good enough because he wasn't invited to the All-State Choir, but it was his first time for that competition.
No problem, car,
later all, I am out, too. *poof*
bye stid
up, superior on siNGing. *repoof*
Bye stid!

Why did they have to ruin Downton Abbey like this?
haven't watched it yet!
but I do know what's coming (not that I wanted to)
Oh, then I'm not saying.
why why why
They never did this in Upstairs Downstairs.
Kaplan, I understand, but I think the person wanted out of the show
Replace him! Like Darren! Or anyone on Days of Our Lives!
Or was it Darryl?
LOL, I know - it's never stopped a soap opera before. "The part of so-and-so is being played today by..."
Darren if you mean Bewitched
Though I do realize it wouldn't work so well to try to replace John Hamm on Mad Men with just anyone.4
To Endora he was Darryl.
ah
Find another nice looking blond guy
Those were streaks I think.
If it were Days oif Our Lives, he would come back.
I ruined it for my daughter last night by calling her before she finished watching, but then I realized that it would have ruined itse;f anyway.
Another reason Daytime soaps are more rewarding- nothing is final.
fireworks! gotta go!
I always laugh when an actor leaves an incredibly popular show like Downton Abbey and then is never heard from again. It's like, oops, bad career choice.
Good Afternoon. Is everyone still napping now?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Shhh, jmc, don't snore so loud. We might wake the natives here.
huh? huh? *rubs eyes* sorry didn't mean to snore
It's okay, they all seem to be very sound asleep here
bbl much swap the washing. . . .
*must
do you need clues nef?
I'm just tarting now
trying for NBT. How hard is the grid?
STARTING; not "tarting"
ah well it is a bit of a bear. . . but lots of real words intermixed
and there i thought you were all tarted up with makeup
are you almost done now? (It seems odd that it's so quiet here at this time of day!)
no i have 139 left. . . i am usually not here this time of day anymore. . . but got tired of working
LOL! I should have red lip stick, spike heels and some dangly earrings and such!
but i have nbt so can help there if needed
(My typing is terrible today and so is my spelling!)
that 2nd row N is my last one
and you head to the pb for your discription of how you should look
tough day at work? Or just the blahs?
n+amount of land
thankyou!
mainly the blahs. . .lots of conversations with answering machines
found a major error on my webpage. . .that sort of thing
ah well the wash didn't go away. . . bbl
OOPS! I hate talking to machines too. I got distracted last week and left wrong phone numbers and addresses while at work. :-(
hey all (((net))) (((mmc)))
my computer autocorrected your name, JE!!! *sigh*
hi stid! How's it going?
just stopping by before I go finish making my vest. I am determined to show up tomorrow with a new vest to wear! :-) About another two hours' work, methinks...
how about you, Nef? DH behaving himself? *stern mama look at Nef's DH*
hello all, back to find 56 words
hey peri! **scatters choclits gleefully**
hey guys.. can someone clue the 9?
:)
I donated blood about an hour ago and the volunteer in charge of the snacks was a retired teacher. I told her about you and she feels bad for you
Hello all!
sorry lbuxx, still looking... hey hilly!
or jilly... *sigh*
hi peri, ibuxx and Jilly
It's rough for sure, Nef, but getting better. Slowly but surely, I am getting to the point where I can smile at the kids without them deciding that's an invitation to take advantage of me.
is this all autocorrect mistakes, stid; or are you tired?
Still love ya stid! hilly or jilly!
And also to the point where when I have to reprimand a student officially (in writing to the principal) I can actually take them aside and explain why I am doing it and they don't fly off the handle. Most of them...
autocorrects, Nef
also tired and my eyes don't like the material I am sewing on... dark thread on dark background. But I'll be done today and back to normal.
Good news, stid (about the teaching stuff)
YAY! past halfway!!!
what's the new vest look like?
:-) one of my issues with the eyes of course is that once I overdo it I get migraines, so I am being VERY careful to take regular breaks.
and you don't need migraines with this job!
It's two-sided again, different pattern, but should still be good (I couldn't find the one I usually make...). I am not, of course, following directions, because I have to mess with everything.
I am sure in retrospect that I drove my own math and science teachers NUTS!
directions??? What are those? ;-)
I'll post a couple pics to my blog when I am done. Silly me, didn't take little pics all along, but that's okay. I have a couple "in process" shots.
LOL Nef! I used to sew a lot, so I have the hubris to think I can make things up as I go along...
oh my -- going to lose my sunlight soon. Must get back to work on the detail things (putting on the pockets) before that happens. Back later. **hugs and choclits for all** *poof*
"do you normally take pictures all the way through a process" was not found in the dictionary SIGH.
I can't play the grid and chat today I guess
LOL and with creative things, yes Nef -- I like to document what I did so I can either repeat or avoid! *repoof*
half way without the list - happy dance :)
BTW, everyone; I'm getting my kitchen redone next week! I can hardly wait! :-D
(since stid spoke of pictures along the way; I think I'll do that too; not just the before and after pics.
wtg, KatieMcG
That is a great idea Nef, we did ours last year ourselves and took pictures all the way through it's nice to see how far it has come from where it started when you take it for granted that you have a lovely new kitchen
nice nef! *polite jealousy*
I'm having Home Depot do it. It probably costs more; but it will be done sooner.
We are doing the livingroom now and I wish we had taken before pictures. I am sitting on garden furniture next the wallpapering table as I type.
i have el 4/4 and el 4/5 for the first E first column does anybody know what the other one is?
Our kitchen has a small window facing south but it's your basic small 1950's galley style
Another good idea it took us a month and nearly killed us. There was a real sense of achievement but not sure it was worth the heartache. We couldn't afford to get someone to fit it as we did it a bit spur of the moment.
We got ours from IKEA.
It's always been so dark in there; I painted the dark cabinets while about 10 years ago but now I just need a big change
we got new windows for our house last year
er 4/4
we have a galley as well and put in white shiney units with half size doors and it seems much bigger than it used to be.
ty nef
Yippee!! got the 9/10 combo!!
Oh MLF we need to do that next year but the people who sell them are so vile I can't bear to have them in the house which is a bit of an issue
wtg Jilly
i have st 5/12 for the 2nd column S what am i missing?
Katie, we're just getting the basic cabinets resurfaced; new doors and drawers in natural oak and then a white quartz countertop
2nd se6/18 pls
we used window world and love them
We put new windows in the back half of the house the years we moved in here (1992); finished the rest off about 10-12 years ago and they were much cheaper for the same energy efficiency.
nbt/nbs...sheesh this grid can have it's moments!
jilly i have nbt and bs and i agree with you
we ripped everything back to the bare walls but installed a kitchen that we can change the doors next time without the nightmare we went through this time
Jilly, could you please give the stats on the 9/10 please?
en 9/66 and en 10/84
en9/66 and en10/84
jilly - can you clue them?
need clues for te6/21and te 7/32 anyone
thanks!
2nd re6/18 anyone. I don't see it in morwords
meant 2nd se6/18 pls
dont have them maj sorry
dont have that one peri
FW
bye for now
i have 2 te 6s
sorry, peri. I'm looking but not finding it
maj i have them.. trying to figure out how to clue..
en+french spelling for coming in+what we call the chog
then pl
number + *** room, then plural
Good morning :) en 9 / 10 are dance terms - as Jilly clued.
don't know if thats a good clue but thats all i can come up with
i thoink its se*-same 3 letters as the other se6/18 ending is like the sugar -gluc***
thanks Jilly!!
And I learn something new every day..thanks lizlin!
That came from Grannyrose originally!
Any clues before I head off for breakfast? I finished last night.
who has the te 6/7?
tx ibuxx
Is that the one to do with adolescents - te 6 /7?
never mind
MLFAN i just clued it..
is their only one set of them i just found a set?
4 x te words to do with adolescents
One of those te words is a 6 / 7 combo
3 x te 6 / 7 combos
i have te 6/18 te 7/28 combo
got the adolescent combo ty
Also te 6 /21 and 7 ./32 - clued by lbuxx and also 4 words to do with being stressed 5 /10; 2 x 6 /18 and 7 /28
i have 5 6 6 7 te combo
having to do with stresse
s
So the other one clued just before is te 6 / 21 and te 7 /32 - number + ***reation ground or room (area for play) and its plural.
ty liziin
Welll, toddling off for some chores...bbl
yw. Any other clues needed?
bye, Jilly
Bye Jilly. Enjoy your evening :)
anyone else need clues?
Liz, could you please give the stats for the 2nd rowN?
I have the na5/12 and the pl; can't find the last one
na 5 / 12; na 6 /21; na 7 / 32

Wonders if, matches got the clues or not to the EN9.
ty nef got it good clue
I'm trying to play Babble, get some exercise, let DH nap til 5:30, and plan how to empty my kitchen. I just knocked the recipe box off the counter, spilling them all over and making a huge racket!
yay, Matches
Bang goes, Dh's nap then.
(I pretty much got the clue from someone about an hour ago
yep, zoozz. He's not happy (but 5:30 is pretty late for a nap; right?
Wellll..yeah..although i do tend to nap..when ever the mood takes me..lol
but piucking up the recipes will provide the exercise: it's an under the cupboard one that's chock full of recipes .. about 10 inches deep so the are ALL over everything
Oh dear..that will take some time to pick-up then.

Sorry should of put a capital..American coin...did not mean to be dis-respectful.
Zoo's Clues...Sounds like a kids show : D
:) no problem zooz
lol Molly :)
ooo...timer went off, be back in a bit :)
No worries Zoom, "you" are not an American basher here. : )
zoobillie zoo was a great kid show
And then of course there was Zoom : D
Zoobillie..will have to google it..never of heard of it here.

LOL, Molly..that will stick in your head for a while now.
Sorry, the little musical notes probably annoy people intensely too.
Oh my..just watched an opening song on youtube..yeah..looks a litle bit like a childrens tv show called rainbow here.
There is nothing quite like hearing those kids show opening songs over and over and over again when you have small kids in the house. The Gumby song in particular resonates in the deep corners of my brain.
wow you are going back a bit now, Molly..1967.
Actually, there was a Gumy revival in the 80's. That is how my kids know it.
Ahh i see..i only clicked on the first vid on youtube.
Sorry, Gumby. Gumy is the senior citizens version.
hahahaha
what a lot of re words! well might as well start.
They are not to hard, Stidgmere you will be pleased to know.

You were righ tzozo. Stuck after the re** (quite sound word) 4, 5.
Sudden snow, rain squall. Very blustery on this great Northwest afternoon.
Hi zooz and stidg :) Any clues needed?
Sorry, Stid..are you asking for a clue after the re4,5?
Not for me ,Liz..i have finished..but many thanks.
I could use some of the re words after the last re 4, 5. There are three words: 6, 21, 7, 32 and 6, 21 that I don't seem to monkey.
re + what you put on your feet.
To put metal hooves on a horse again
just got them. using the sh combos that came to mind. Thank you for your assistance!!
re + pt of what the sun did yesterday (or didn't do!)
Re + bright sun

One thing about the great Northwest Liz, the sun does not shine very often.
It isn't here much at the moment, either!
Gran Mere stirred up a cluing frenzy. : D

Mmmm. So we fixed some salmon spread with mayonnaise, sweet relish, celery, and a little sour cream. Along with cole slaw we had a very nice snack (no lunch) to tide us over till dinner.
I've gotten connection error, also. I rarely see that. What's going on?
the internet hiccups sometimes
to which i can only say, smeesh! LOL
hi al. stidgmere, I make something similar. But use cream cheese, nonfat greek yogurt, dijon mustard, lemon juice, worcestshire sauce and finely chopped pecans. yum.
i make something similar, too, but with chicken and rice . . .
Oh my, I like the idea of the pecans along with your other ingredients, dorens.
take M from smeesh ansd change it too a letter'
Anything with pecans is a home run.
nice crunch. i think i like nuts in just about anything. salad, rice, you name it
cos, that's a goofy word! thx. Hi all!
pecans are expensive. i wanted to make a pie but didnt want to pay 10 bucks for pecans
ty molly for the sm clew.
i just came back from boston. driving four and a half hours home//basically to have lunch with my son. but he's worth it. and it was in the federal reserve bank buiding which has this amazing dining room on the 32nd floor overlooking the harbor.
They are expensive Cos. I buy them in small quantities and add them to things like cookies and muffins.
i buy in huge quantities at costco and freeze them. much cheaper than small quantities.
What a lovely lunch date!! 32 floors. That is a high building.
really special. and he sprung it on me that he and his wife are moving to california this summer. I guess the spectacular setting softened the news
California. That means a field trip, I think.
i suspect there will be several in the next few years...
long drive for lunch all right! glad it was worth it
me too. could have been worse news, i suppose..
I have a hard time shopping at a place like Costco for two, on my budget. I know you can buy big quantities of things and save, but I don't usually have the luxury of buying the big quantities.
Bags in the store look so innocent but bring them home and they fill my pantry.
but there's things you can buy one of at costco, too
i do my own personal food co-op. I have one friend who always wants to split their huge bags of broccoli florets which are half the price of the food stores... another who will do the romaine lettuce, another the big block of cheddar. It is silly. since i live alone, but I just love the bargain (and quality)
like clothes, books, DVDs, bags of snack food . . .
I wish I had that Dorens. That is the way to save at places like Costco if you are not buying for a large family.
i once had three kids and it made a lot of sense....now, i just can't give it up. Molly, do you have bneighbors who would be interested?
Nope, no neighbors interested and all of my single friend eat out more than they shop for food to cook at home.
so you single friends are rich?
No, just lazy : D
it costs so much more... I am cheap about somethings and extravagant about others... i guess we each have our own fiscal policies...
I hardly ever eat out. Mostly because I like my own cooking more than restaurant fare.
that too. Well, I like a lot of restaurant fare but that stuff is really expensive and takes more time out of my busy schedule. ok. down to 40 now, the moment of truth.. is there a lickety list? soon to find out
yay
ahah! fm's word is here

Bye for now Jilly :)
hi all. any clues for the nine and ten?
nm got them from clue below. ty.
hi guys, I have all the sss but cannot get the se4 (the one after the second se6) help please?
se + space cadet drug of the sixties: **d
thanks babs working on it
Ha got it!
hi sandy, BR, mkg!
Hello, Sue
Hi again. DH and a friend and I went and played bingo at a Mexican restaurant (and ate supper there) this evening; DH won $53 and my friend and I didn't win. So we made DH pay for supper! :-D
sound fair to me
hi all
hmmmm must not have taken the same drugs BR
hi BR, sue, jmc and sandy. Are you having nice evenings and getting through the grid?
i am having a nice evening anyway! haha
you got the laundry done?
last load is drying. . .
It's always so nice to finish the laundry; but then you get ready for bed and it starts all over again
true . . . but at least the stack is shorter
very true. I keep trying to get all the clothes done for at least 12 hours; but I've never succeeded.
hi nef and jmc!
you have to set the last load to dry just before bed when you are already in your PJs
hi uu
I've hired the sister of a friend who has been organizing my entire house; she's also been doing the laundry and dishes and walking the dog. I am very happy with her!
how are you and frank doing?
you could try not wearing clothes Nef?
WHat a great idea when your plate is as full as yours is right now, sue! Good for you!
we are ok; Frank is handling the chemo pretty well but the emotional side is still really hard
in the summer i could do that. . . too cold in the winter
it is good to have someone help so you can focus on frank a little more
We are doing well, jmc. He's discovering that he's very weak; and I'm trying to get him to exercise and walk more
good luck with that nef. . .it is so hard to get someone started!
sorry, ruru; this is Minnesota and I'd never warm up if I tried going naked! ;-)
Ooops, jmc! My DH is also a Frank; not paying close enough attention to realize you were talking to sue!
one of the annoying thing about all that construction is that i had to wear a nighty all summer long. . .never knew when i would wake up to someone outside my second floor window
i was happy to hear about your DH too Nef
When we were younger, I'd sleep in the buff; but now I'm just cold most of the time.
i am not cold in June-July and August in DC. . . usually. . . since i have no a/c
It gets pretty darn muggy and hot there, doesn't it in the summer months?
not compared to houston where i grew up
does Houston get muggy? I've been in San Antonio in late June for a convention and found that really hot and humid
but compared to much of the re** of the world. . .
houston is 80% humidy unless it is raining
YUK!!!
haha fewer wrinkles!
clue for the en9/10 please
I moved south for the warmer climate (from northern MN to southern MN) and when I start thinking about going farther south, DH tells me he can't tolerate the heat and reminds me I don't want bigger bugs!

I probably won't finish; but it's always nice to get NBT and NBS and half way and not feel compelled to finish no matter what
I agree, nef!
so I will lurk and continue slodding along. Hi jmc!
and hello to you uussue too!
love your icon, sue. (But I don't see Mercury)
it's very tiny and dim, nef
It must be. :-)

hi saan and bye all and it keeps being too cloudy to see mercury here so i am waiting for the comets next month!

good bye, jmc. Have a good night!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min!
hi Min! How are you this evening?
I'm well thank you! Gave up on the grid at 5:07 today
I did go there now, sue. There is a bunch of Mercurys there! :-)
hey all, vest finished, pics online, I am eating leftovers
there are indeed!
yay stid!
:-)
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to chog
WTG, stid!
I am past halfway in the grid, Min! Hope you had a lovely day, too.
Hah. took the "math" teacher until words 114 and 115 to find the triangle measurement words... *sigh*
I gave up stidmama, but story is in profile if you need
I don't really understand why people lurk.. chatting is the best part of this game
hey ruru!
hi stidders
angle? acute? scalene?
I don't think I am going to try to finish, Min. I have to wake up early tomorrow and get in early to the classroom to be sure I have everything ready. After a long weekend, it's anyone's guess! LOL
radian? degree?
se 6 and plural, sue. trig word
ah. thanks for putting me out of my misery :-)
What are you teaching tomorrow stidmama? I am off the whole week for winter break. It is going quickly.
thanks, stid. Where do you have your pics posted?
still 7th grade Math, Min. Starting week #6 with the same kids. About to finish another chapter, and I have plans ready for the next
website Nef my com account with my username
your blog page? I didn't see any pictures there
you need to hit the "see more" button -- long posts with pics I try to remember not to load a million bytes unless someone really wants to see them
I lied. It says "continue reading" LOL
ok; I'll try again
NICE! Your "winging it" looks really good!
*glows with pride* thanks Nef. To be honest, my first truly "solo" attempt in years. Usually Mother and I work together, but she was busy and I really wanted to finish today!
(I always loved smaller pockets inside my scrub jacket pockets for all the necessities of bedside nursing
You'll get lots of good use from that vest, stid.
My regular pattern is "scrubs" They really make great wearing clothes for teaching. Particularly because they make sure things are long enough to not "flash" people if you have to bend down.
I have to teach sixth grade Math for an after school program and I think it's very difficult to do stidmama
It can be, Min -- not all days/classes/kids are the most fun to work with, but mostly I just love it. I think I got really lucky to stumble onto this gig.
I always wore a scrub jacket over a turtleneck shirt. It was so much more professional looking than just a scrub top; and the pockets were terrific
yep. turtlenecks are also warmer. And with my allergies, the less skin exposure to environmental contaminants the better.
It sounds like you're gaining confidence stid! :-)
(I have sensitive skin too; I'd break out from my stethescope!)
Confidence? maybe. We'll see if it's justified tomorrow. Rearranging the room will set some kids off and help others. I am hoping it helps more than it un-nerves.
well, you sound definitely more sure of yourself than you sounded last week
thanks, Nef. I feel more sure. Not certain how much longer I will be needed, but I am "giving it my all" for now and we'll see what happens.
I should head out and make sure I have everything I need printed up. Back next weekend probably. Have a lovely rest of your week, all! *poof*
Bye stid! Good Luck!
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log
bye stid!
I'm getting lots of clues from your story, Min; thanks as usual! :-)
You're welcome Nef. I wrote it at 6:00. Glad it helped
